Hello and welcome back to Evenmore News, the first and only news podcast.
I am Katie Stoll.
Yes, you are.
Hello, Katie.
I'm Cody.
No further comments.
No further comment, Johnston.
We are super excited.
A first time, Even More News guest, writer and co-host of the podcast Hysteria, it is Aaron Ryan.
Hi, I'm so glad to be here.
I am fan-girling out a little bit because I love you guys so much.
Well, that is exactly how we feel.
Mutual fan-girling.
This is.
Reverse fan-girling.
Match made in heaven.
Also, Jonathan.
Jonathan is also here.
Hi.
There he is.
Last night was this midterm convention spectacle, this Trump-Paloza.
And I just learned that he is again speaking tonight, which is wild because that man rambled for almost two hours last night.
And I can't imagine what else he has to say.
But more surprises.
Let's start with what he did say last night.
Jonathan, what are we going to get?
What are we getting?
He said so much.
But the big headline, of course, is that he promised all of us, seemingly including us, a bunch of money if they win.
Only I can make this promise to you.
And here is my promise.
If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them.
Because of our economic, tremendous economic success,
like in history we've never had anything like what's happening,
but because of our tremendous strength and success economically,
I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen
in the United States of America for $5,000.
He's like, oh, fuck, oh, fuck, oh, fuck, oh, fuck.
Do you think he was off the cuff with that?
Do you think anybody planned to do that?
I don't know.
I feel like every time he said something like that,
I want to do like a smash cut to his speechwriters or to Susie Wiles.
And like I want to see if they're like,
or like Marco Rubioing in the background or whatever.
Because I feel like they wrote a number in there.
And this is just me just off the cuff.
This based on nothing but vibes.
I feel like there was a number in there, and he saw the number and was like,
bigger number better.
And he made the number bigger.
He just decided to call an audible.
So I think it was maybe like $1,000, maybe $1,500, maybe $2,000.
But he was like, no, $5,000.
It's like how he dictated the dimensions of the ballroom where he's like, how about a million
bajillion square feet?
And then people pointed out that that's like bigger than three Costco's.
And he's like, no, we're still doing it.
Because it was a big number that he could think of.
Yeah, the White House will be inside the ballroom.
I mean, it does, according to the Washington Sun, apparently many, if not all, Senate Republicans who would be in charge of, you know, overseeing this and actually passing this and sending it were blindsided by the announcement.
Oh, Katie, are you suggesting that this would require like congressional legislation that he can't just give us money?
Oh.
I mean, he did though for the, he gave us the $2,000 tariff checks and the $2,000 doge checks.
We all got that, which made our lives better.
Hey, you guys got those?
Oh, yeah.
I'm on a boat right now.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
I was going to ask, you look like you're on a boat.
You've got the verbal aspect of a man on a boat.
You probably can't get it for $4,000.
There's no AC, but.
Yeah, this is a horrible mistake I made, but.
I'm putting all my checks into.
There's no return passage book.
He's got to swim home.
The thing that strikes me about this claim is, first of all, like, Donald Trump
doesn't pay anybody.
He's famous for like just stiffing people and promising things and then just not delivering.
That's just kind of his ammo.
But also like I interpreted it and I didn't see anybody else really talk about it this way.
He's betting that the Republicans will lose.
He's like, you also have to like listen to the fine print, the words he says really quickly.
He says if they win both the House in the Senate, then he's going to give them and that's the fine print.
I think he does not believe that the fine print terms and conditions will be met and therefore he will not have to follow through on this.
but he just gets to make a big promise and feel like a big guy.
But I think that he does not believe that they're going to win.
That's his way of saying that.
He does say also he's like, which it might not happen.
We might not.
But if we do, but also, we all know.
Even if he does pull that off.
Oh, yeah.
He doesn't have to do it.
It's not going to happen.
That is true.
That is like because they all know.
That's why they're doing the convention in the first place because they know their losers this year.
and they have to turn this into like a national thing.
He said last night, what, pretend I'm on the ballot.
Okay, so things are going well.
And I'm like, in that vein, I'm waiting for some Democrats to come forward and say, like, you know what?
If we win both, then we'll make it 7,000.
And then like, what's he going to say?
Like, well, no, it's supposed to be 5,000.
Then he looks like he's lying, which he is.
The problem is that Democrats would get absolutely hammered.
for not doing that when it happens because we all know everyone knows there's no intention of
ever doing this. Of course not. But Trump will not be held to account for it whatsoever. No one's
ever going to be like, where's my $5,000? No matter what. Because no one's saying where's my $4,000
from the tariffs and the doge. I think, yeah, he wants to, he knows the Democrats are going to win the
House and then he could be like, oh, you should have voted for us. I would have given you money.
and he added this morning separately, $500 rebate checks will be going to a million Affordable Care Act enrollees who they say were overcharged.
So like Obama took your $500, and so he's giving you $500 for that, unclear.
I also think like play this out and it's like the politics on it are really, really bad.
I'm just, I know this is like an unsurious proposal, but like, you know, I live in L.A., very high cost of living, right?
$5,000 in L.A. does not go as far as $5,000 in Omaha would go.
So you're telling me that J.D. Vance's fabled, lonely cat lady, who is not supporting anybody else on her income, is going to get the same amount of money as me. I have two little kids. Why do you hate parents, Donald Trump? Why don't you give me more money? I push two babies out of this carcass. Like, I deserve, I'm doing what you asked. I'm doing the thing. I did it. I married a human man. I had.
Human babies, they're Caucasian even.
Like, you love that.
You love Caucasian babies.
Shocking all the boxes.
Yeah.
Like, why do I get the same amount of money as some kind of, like, city dwelling, apartment, Carrie Bradshaw?
Like, she's just going to buy shoes with it.
That's true.
I will.
Carrie?
They want to give you money as long as you're a stay-at-home mom.
If there's two working parents, no.
But now they've got the new proposal to.
pay for your child care if you're the one.
If you're doing the child care, yes.
That is so wild to me.
It's not so wild.
I understand exactly why, but the make it make sense.
Give parents credits.
Give parents money.
I'm fully supportive of that.
But only if one of you is staying home.
Yeah.
It's just, it's obviously like an incentive.
He just wants women to get out of the workplace.
I mean, does that, does that apply to like Mormon housewives who stay home?
and make content of their families?
And blog about it?
Yeah, exactly.
Do you have to be making $0?00?
You have no $10.99s, no W-2s, nothing.
Because I know plenty of writers who work from home.
Right.
Can they?
I mean, yeah.
Like, let's game this out.
Let's get the fun.
Let's ask them some follow-up questions.
Well, if they're writers, that means they're artistic, which means they're libs,
which means they're not worthy of that.
That means they're, you know.
Yeah, I think you have to.
to sign a pledge to stay at home and not vote. I feel like if they can guarantee that the moms
are staying at home and not voting, then they'll give you as much money. It's also like very,
the vibes of Lucille Bluth being like, it's a banana, Michael, what's it cost $10? Because whatever
offsetting tax credit or whatever the federal government offers for child care is like piss
poor in the face of how much it actually costs. Like it actually costs so much money. It costs more,
Like, it costs twice as much as my parents' mortgage to have two kids in child care all the time.
It's like, it's fucking insane.
It's hard for me to wrap my mind around, to be honest.
Because he also said last night, this has been the most successful two years financially and every other way in the history of the presidency.
So, like, he's just living in this world where like, well, I've made billions of dollars off of these robs.
So therefore, everybody else is doing well and things costs what they should because affordability is a hoax.
This is so confusing to me.
I go back and forth about whether he believes it or he's able to talk himself into believing his lies or if he's just that.
I mean, he's made a lot of money.
He has made a lot of money, but he just doesn't give a shit.
I think, well, A, like a lot of that money is on paper and like it's pretend money.
It's like crypto money.
It's not realized.
It's not an asset that's a realized gain until you like.
sell it, right? So, like, there's a possibility that it could all just explode. There's, like,
a massive magnetic pulse from the sun and all the electricity goes off and, whoops, no more
crypto. Like, whatever. There's all different. Or he could just make a bunch of stupid decisions
like he's always done and bankrupt the next casino of America, which is what he's doing
now. But I think, like, he universalizes his own feelings as things that everybody is having.
It's the same muscle that he flexes or, you know, when he talks about something that he just learned
A lot of people don't know this.
And it's like, no, you didn't know that.
You just like, you still don't.
You butcher that.
Right.
You just learned that dumb has a bee at the end of it.
I know.
He said it last night.
He keeps saying it.
He keeps not knowing.
We've got so many more Democrat jokes in store for us over the next two months.
He's lost his fastball guys.
That is like shitty.
That is not a good Democrat.
Come on, man.
This wasn't from last night, but I'd love to play a clip from.
today at the National Medal of Honor Museum.
This is newer.
I don't know if you guys saw it,
but he can't help himself.
With us 15 of the 65 living recipients
of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
You know, I've never said this.
I told Jerry a long time ago,
I think I really want is I want for myself
a Congressional Medal of Honor.
And I've studied it.
I will give it to myself.
I have no problem,
but I'm not allowed to.
Can you believe it?
The one thing I'm not allowed to do,
I would give myself
so it would make it instead of 15,
would have 16. But I'm not allowed to do that. Now, you know, the sad part about saying that
all of that, look at all that fake news back there. But the sad part is that they'll now go and
they'll say, Donald Trump wanted the Congressional Medal of Honor. They don't say that I can't.
You just said it. One thing in the world of politics, you can't be sarcastic. You can't have any fun.
What do you not be sarcastic? I can't do anything that you think is cute because it was so tonight,
The story will be that Donald Trump wants the Congressional Medal of Honor for himself.
He's talking of it.
I'm only kidding.
Oh, Tee-He-H-H-H-H-E.
Actually, I'm not kidding.
I would like that.
Exactly, you're not kidding.
We all know you're not kidding.
We all know you're not kidding.
Yeah, I'm just like, you know, if you remove your three bottom ribs, you can suck your own dick.
You know, I want to suck my own dick.
Just something I've heard.
I don't know.
I wouldn't do it.
I mean, I've, I, I, I, I'm looking.
into doctors who might be willing to do it.
No, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding
doctors, but seriously, if anyone of you could do it,
just come over to the White House and help me
suck my own dick. I don't want to suck my own dick.
Trying it, it really hurts. I mean,
I wouldn't know. I heard that trying it.
It hurts. The thing is, no one else will
do it anymore. So.
God. Before we
started recording, Aaron, you were
speaking about
Trump's obsession with being the one to speak
when people die. And how
there's something in him.
He's like, well, I want to be able to the one to announce it.
He's so solely preoccupied with his image, with his legacy.
He talks about like, well, I'm going to name this stuff after me because no one else will.
Stunning self-awareness, actually, from this man.
Because you're right, you won't.
But it's the same thing.
Like, I got to say this because no one else is going to do it.
You're right.
We won't.
I think he's, like, very afraid of dying and he knows how disliked he is.
and he knows how artificial all of the allegedly close bonds he has with people are.
Like, I mean, just think about Lindsey Graham.
Like, nobody was like, I mean, I forgot about him until I was like, oh, right, that guy.
You know, like, he wasn't somebody who people were like, you know, even when John McCain died.
John McCain was a warmonger and he had a lot of issues that I totally don't agree with.
But people were still like, yeah, he seemed like he tried to be a good person in some context.
You know, people remembered him fondly who had worked with him,
who he hadn't pissed him off, you know.
But like Lindsay Graham died and everyone was like, all right, bye, Queen.
Like, see you later.
See you.
See on the other side.
I feel like Donald Trump knows that his legacy and his friendships are just not real and
they're not lasting.
And when he dies, there's no way he hasn't seen posts about the big beautiful day
and how not afraid people are to be like, yeah, I will celebrate.
I have a bottle of wine chilling or whatever.
I don't, of course.
I would never celebrate.
celebrate someone dying.
I thought you were saying I would never save that wine to that man.
No, no, no, no.
I mean, anytime I want.
That wine is gone.
I want an excuse to go to Trader Joe's that day.
I love Trader Joe's.
It's like a little mini convenience store Wonderland.
Land just like the solidarity, the social interactions you're going to have on that day with
everybody out in the world.
Like, come on, you don't want to do that.
They're going to run out.
They're going to sell out very quickly.
Not that we're rooting for.
Oh, L.A. is going to light up like 4th of July times five.
And the Dodgers won.
And it's going to be like crazy.
Be like the 2020.
election day when we all came into the streets and it was quite a party.
Yeah.
We all look forward to that day.
Yeah.
Yep.
Yeah.
It's fair.
Yeah.
I am curious, what is his deal with Ken Paxton?
He's obsessed with talking about this is not that important, but it just makes me laugh
every time he speaks about Ken Paxton.
How he looks like shit.
Do you think, who do you think?
I mean, Ken Paxton and Donald Trump, like, not to be gross, not to go all Hassan
Piker on the jumbo.
on you guys.
Being of that.
Who do you think looks better naked?
Like, I think Donald Trump and Ken Paxson equally look like dog shit without clothes on.
Like, there's no way that, like, Donald Trump is, he's got a flap.
You can tell the man's got like an abdominal flap that, like, folds, that he's a foldy man.
And he's so vain.
Like, I don't care how a person looks without clothes on unless they're assholes about how
other people look.
And I don't like them.
And I don't like them.
Which he's obviously all the time.
Yeah, exactly.
It's like always talking about his friend on the fat drug and stuff.
Like, dude, like get it together.
Well, because also the people, like whenever any, like even like Republicans have started to be like, yeah, I don't think Ken Paxon has like integrity.
And I think that he's like not good and not a good candidate.
All the things like protecting pedophiles and all that's all the stuff that we can say about Ken Paxon.
And it's so funny that Trump all the time is like, I know he looks like shit.
But look at his record.
And it's like you can't even, like, veer people away from all of that stuff.
Yeah.
You can't even navigate this.
Well, right.
It's like he's brought this on.
No part of anyone's campaign.
No one's ever said this about this.
No one's on MS now saying like he does he dresses shabbily.
He looks weird or whatever.
It's just Trump.
Trump wishes the man looked differently.
In the whole United States.
So I am very sorry, Ken.
I hated to do.
And I'll go backstage.
Sir, you shouldn't have said that.
You've given them a say, let me tell you.
It's true.
He may not dress right.
He may not talk exactly perfectly.
And he may not be the best-looking guy I've ever seen.
But you know what he is?
He's the greatest Attorney General in America.
And he deserves to be your next senator.
Would I smash?
No.
Is he a fraud?
crook yes but like what do you now we're back to having no self-awareness because these are all the
things that say about him he doesn't speak so good also if he's the best attorney general in america
why aren't you replacing todd blanche with him what's going on like or talking about any of the
things he's done it's all very vague the only specifics you give is you don't like his suits you know
it's also funny this is like the only time i think i've ever seen trump do the like all right i'm
gonna do a bit for you.
Like, he's always rambling and doing, like,
his shark, he's electrocuted by sharks thing.
He'll bring it up every once in a while, and he knows
that people like it, but he's not like,
thing, you love the thing I say about.
I know they're gonna get the clip, but okay, here we go.
He looks like shit, and I hate him,
but he's great. Like, he's just,
like, reading it off of a card, basically.
Yeah. It's the most...
It's a set. He's a, he's, like, a failed
stand-up in the same way that a lot of, like,
pastors are kind of, like, failed stand-up.
Yeah, and he's just like playing the hits, and he knows it.
It's all he's got right now.
It's like his ego just needs to go out and get some laughs.
He needs to go do a set when he's talking about,
they don't like it when I'm cute.
You can't be cute.
You can't joke as president.
It's because you're the fucking president,
and the whole world is watching you,
and we're looking for answers,
but all you're going to do is try to act cute.
You ain't cute.
And you're not making a joke.
You do want the Congressional Medal of Honor.
You very clearly want the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Well, it's like, what's the, okay, it's a joke, what's the setup, what's the punchline?
What is the genre of joke that this is?
Not to get all, like, academic about humor, but it's like, okay, so what, what are you making fun of yourself?
Every single time, this, like, they always fall back on like, well, it's a joke, it's this, it's this.
And nobody ever asks that.
I want, like, a person to, like, explain the joke.
Like, Vance does it all the time.
It's like, oh, it's a joke.
They're like, the little jokes.
Explain the joke.
maybe it's funny and I don't get it
explain it to me help me out
like Shark versus electrocution
is a joke because he thinks
he's choosing like maybe a lesser
thing like he gives a reason for his like absurd point of view
he does his weight lifting thing
and the joke there is he thinks
women's sports are dumb
because when he does the thing
he's making fun of a cisgender woman
instead of a trans athlete
but right when he's like
him just mocking a guy's appearance
I don't really know what the joke is.
I'm laughing when he does it.
That is performance of it.
First, Aaron referenced Hassan Piker.
And I just need to take one minute to address what happened last night, which is they did this big video.
They showed this big video about socialism and how scary it is.
And in it, they did a montage of pictures of Hassan Piker.
The last one, a naked picture?
It's a beef cape.
It's a beef cake.
Why?
Oh, you were ready for that.
They blurred his underpants.
They blurred his.
They blurt it, yeah.
To suggest he's naked, I guess.
But also objectively, a very fit man.
I don't understand.
Aaron, what do you think?
Why would you do that?
What's the point?
First of all, what's the points?
Like, I want to be, like, respectful also because, like, I'm a married woman.
I am like, I love my husband, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
But it is like undeniable that there are many, many characters among the Democrats that they, the people on the right love to pick on right now that are very hot.
And every time they show pictures of these people, it's like, so Republicans in the right have spent the last forever making fun of Democrats as being like, you know, pajama boy, limp-risted, inside boy, sissies.
And now we have like this ripped ass guy who's super tall and looks great in glasses.
Like, and we have like, you know, Abdul-Sai and running.
And naked, apparently.
Yeah, exactly.
We have like.
AOC, like all these attractive people.
Yeah, these people.
They're so mad about it.
They're so mad.
It's like they're like so used to feeling angry.
It's like when you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
They're so mad about everything that like, now they're just mad about how sexy these people are.
They're mad that the Democrats are hot.
There was a segment on Fox News the other week where people were complaining.
I think it was on the five.
And I think it was Greg Gutfeld probably because he's always the one saying the stupidest shit.
You know, by the way, he and I would have been in high school at the same time.
That man is aging like a bowl of cream.
Yeah.
His insides are showing.
He looks like, yeah.
He's become a, he's grampifying before our very eyes.
Wait, who is this?
Gutfeld.
Gutfeld.
Gutfeld.
Gutfeld.
Gutfeld.
You and Bethel did not go to high school.
No, no, no, we would have been in high school at the same time.
Same with me and Pete Heggseth.
We were a couple years apart in high school.
I just looked it up.
You look great.
You know what?
They're bad people.
They're ages, but.
Wait, no, no, no.
Maybe he's a little bit older than me.
He might be a little bit older than me.
He's 61.
He's 61?
Okay, you're not.
Okay, never mind.
No, no, no, no, never mind.
Scrap that.
You can keep it.
He shouldn't be acting like he's acting at 61.
I mean, you could mean any number of these chuds.
Anyway, Godfeld was making a point that like, oh, it used to be the people voted for whoever they wanted to have a beer with, and now they're voting for who they want to date.
And it's like, why is that a complaint?
Explain why that's a complaint.
And like, well, the first.
Getting a beer with someone can be a date.
Right.
And they just would rail about how ugly all the liberals are.
And like, only hot women are MAGA.
Well, I think, I mean, this, this is like, it's so, obviously so funny.
I mean, Laura Ingram having a meltdown every week about El Cyanad and like talking to him walking around with his tight t-shirts.
And she's so, like, she's so worked up.
It's so funny to watch.
None of us are saying that about him.
Nobody else.
None of us are saying that about him.
And you and your tight t-shirts trying to get me all.
Hey, it's so, it's so funny.
But I think, like, with this thing, I think it's like there are a few things going.
on because obviously they just are like mad that people are when people are hot but I think there's
some aspect of just sort of like look at the degeneracy that socialists and the left have right and
participate in like look they're taking all these photos and because it is a selfie is that what it was
okay well I mean I think that's part of it is they want to show like socialist degeneracy the Marxists
and like all the kind of stuff other pictures were of him like in a suit on a red carpet
Well, I know. Those are the ones that you think they would show. But including that and also because it's like a selfie and it's like, oh my God, it's a lewd. I think they're also trying to trigger that like politician brain of like, oh, that's a scandal. That's a scandal photo. That's like a leaked photo or like a secret text or something like that, right? Instead of like, no, he was just posting it online. He just posted it for you to see, I guess. Yeah. Well, I mean, while we have the Secretary of Transportation on the
like a live stream with his wife sitting next to him
talking about Sidney's we're
breasts. So like who can
who's allowed to be hot?
Blonde, cisgendered women are allowed
to be hot but brownish
liberal men are not.
Like what somebody's, I need the hot rules.
I need them written down. Who can be hot
and who is not allowed? Rules for thee
but not for me.
Enemies, yeah. Enemies aren't allowed and friends are allowed.
Regardless, very funny
shirt's kiss moment.
What are we doing here?
There are unattractive democratic politicians and podcasters that they could highlight.
Wait a second.
I can only speculate that there are less attractive and ripped like, you know, podcasters.
Like obviously there's no photo of me in existence with my shirt off of long.
Well, I've been encouraging you to take it off today because it's so hot in there.
I put on a shirt 30 minutes ago to do this podcast.
That's how hot it is in L.A. right now.
But none of you would know that.
But they are like, let's go after the like young brash.
And let's just let's make sure everyone here in the arena knows how ripped he is.
It's also like why don't they go after things that the Democratic Party rightfully gets dragged for?
Like if they just showed a bunch of like really old-ass people and listening.
their ages and they're all Democrats. I'm old enough to remember literally two years ago
when there was this smattering of articles and like ridiculous think pieces about how now Republicans
are the hot party. Ooh, it's like young hot Republicans, the conservator and Evie magazine
and sexy young women are doing Republican politics. It's like, okay, so if you want to
continue that, which I think is actually a good sales pitch, it's false, but it's a good
sales pitch, then highlight how the other side isn't these things that you want to be.
You want to be the party of hot people. So show a bunch of old ass uggos. Like, why not? And that's
the weakness of the Democrats, too. It's like there are a lot of people that have not moved aside
to make room for the new generation because the new generation is like energized, good looking
and has really popular socialist adjacent political positions. So like don't highlight that shit.
People like that. Highlight the stuff people don't like. Exactly. But.
But unfortunately, you have the, what, 81-year-old president talking about how Ken Paxson looks like shit.
So you can't be like, we're the young party who's hot.
It's like, well, they aren't the young party.
That's hot, yeah.
The one Democrat they featured who is would probably not be considered hot is the one they like when they have the John Federman video up on screen.
Yeah.
You're like, now this is a guy we can get behind.
I think this point.
Because I feel like there's also this, there's been some reaction to that and the Hassan stuff.
I've seen a lot of people be like, see, they're attacking Hassan.
It was right for the Democrats to like denounce him and talk about him for two weeks and like
do that.
It's like, no, no, no, that's evidence that they shouldn't have done that.
What you've done for weeks, aside from just like the Hassan stuff, but just like socialism
generally and be like, oh my God, this, like the DSA, you're giving the current administration
a permission structure that tells them liberals would be okay if we go after socialist and these people.
You're telling them that you would be okay with it.
So then they're going to do it.
And then once they do, then what?
Like if they, you know, they're not going to deport Hassan.
But like when they try to or if they do, then what?
Then are you going to see it was right for us to tell them that we would be okay with that.
You're granting them permission for this behavior.
It's not actually helpful to participate in that.
They created this.
The Democrats helped create this whole narrative.
The only reason Hassan Pikers,
on the screen at this joke of a convention is because the Democrats have put him on the map
as somebody to be feared and hand it over the talking about.
They can smell the blood.
Like, yeah.
I think it's also that Democrats, a thing that has bothered me forever is that they can be so easily
baited into virtue signaling that is not helpful.
And I feel like this Hassan Piker Frockas is a perfect example of that where it's like he
said something that not everybody agrees with and they have to be like, now I don't agree
with it.
It's like, you can just.
to shut the fuck up, which is what all the Republicans do when Donald Trump says something that
they don't agree with. They say, I didn't see it or I didn't hear it or I'm going to have to look
into it. You can just not say anything. You can just not say anything. And is he trying to bring
prices down for the American people. I'm not on Twitch all day. Yeah. Right. I'm not on Twitch all day.
Yeah. I'm not. You're right, Aaron. I'm an adult. You're right. They could just not
not say anything. But they are just as afraid of that part of the left.
as the conservatives are.
Oh, yeah, it's a proxy.
It's a proxy for, like, getting rid of that aspect of the party.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
And I'm worried that that, like, I'm sorry to put this in the universe,
but I'm worried that that is a sort of self-defeating attitude
that is sort of a dark horse in this whole blue wave conversation that we have.
It's like, are we going to just take the W?
Or are we going to, like, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
by deciding that we're going to nitpick each other until everybody is this like perfectly smooth, like varnished piece of wood that never says anything that hasn't been focused group, never says anything that the majority of Americans don't necessarily agree with wholeheartedly.
Like what are we doing?
We're like sanding all the edges off so we're no longer interesting.
Yeah, you're completely correct.
I have a lot of fear.
The same exact thing.
I'm afraid that they are trying to upset the midterms in a way
so that for the next presidential election cycle,
they can strongly point to how leftism is toxic scourge.
Look what happened in the midterms.
The midterms that you did your very best to lose.
I've literally seen some liberals and centrist streamer types.
say like it would be a good if El Sayed lost because then it's a case that we can point to
to get rid of all the DSA lefty stuff like they they say it out loud that is what they're doing
that is what this whole thing has been about and it sucks oh man it's really frustrating
and yeah I had a conversation about this with my boomer parents this weekend and them trying
to say like well I just and they're pretty left you know I got my mom to vote for Bernie
and all this stuff,
but they were just making this case
of like, well, we just really think
that maybe we need somebody that,
you know, is in the middle
that can reach across the aisle
to conservative voters.
And I'm like, I understand
where you're coming from with this.
But do you understand how bad it is?
Like, they do.
They understand how bad it is.
But for all of us, for my, our generation,
this is so fucked.
In our lifetime,
there will be more and more society changing events,
climate change.
economy tanking stock market
AI all of this stuff and the time is now
for real change we don't need somebody
in there I understand I understand not wanting to lose
I totally have respect for that and I get it
and it's fear based but it's not going to change anything
just doing the same dance
just slightly different version
and I'm not saying that that I'm not even saying
that that means there's no room for centrist's in it
But I am saying that time is now to start listening to what the left is saying.
And instead of villainizing, working because we need each other.
We do need each other.
We need to be listening and learning from the extreme fear and panic and the very real things that we're saying over and over again that we fucking need.
And we're not going to survive without that, you know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I once had this conversation with like a male editor of mine.
where I was talking about salary.
I came into the conversation, like, asking for something and, like, talking about why
I didn't deserve—I don't know.
And he was like, you're acting like when Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd—Elemur Fudd gets tricked
into, like, arguing against himself by Bugs Bunny.
And that was, like, a real teaching moment because everything that can be described in
Looney Tunes is, like, easier for me to understand.
Absolutely.
But I feel like centrism is sort of that.
It's Democrats coming to the table already having compromised in their mind, rather than just
being like, why don't we bring our biggest asks? When you, when you're negotiating, you come in
being like, here's my dream. Here's what I want. I want this, this, this, and this. And then you
throw in a couple crazy asks because you know that those are going to be like thrown out and then
you're going to get the things you actually really want. We need to stop being like, we can't ask
for these things because we're probably not going to get it. We need to actually come to the
table asking for it. We can't get it. We can't get it if we don't ask for it. And I think the
centrism is this defeatist idea that we need to come in having like pre-negotiated with our
and then what we end up getting is a shitty deal that nobody's happy with.
Yeah, it's a watered down version of something is already watered down.
And why would you do that?
Not even ask, demand.
Like going in demand stuff.
That's what, like, everybody else does it.
So just do that.
Right.
But I come back to, it's not the first time I've said this on this show, not going to be
the last time.
The amount of people in this country that are so disenfranchised and so put off by politics
that they don't vote, that their best thing to do is just keep their head down and kind of
not pay attention. You get some of it, but like they don't trust either. Both of these parties
represent the same thing, slightly different variations, but it's absolutely meaningless to your
day-to-day life. If you can't go to the doctor, if you can't get your home insured, you can't
sell your home because no one is going to buy it because your insurance isn't available or whatever.
Pick your poison on any of the topics out there. But you're not offering any solutions to anybody.
but if you were to ever stop and think about what people actually need and are speaking to,
you'd probably pick up new voters instead of constantly trying to chase the people that are really dug into their own ideological perspective.
And you can have like it's easy, especially these days, as long as you back it up with, you know, an argument or some sort of form of communication to convince people that this is a good idea, that's another thing we don't really see is like, no, we,
want to support these people because it's good and here's why it's good in that
approach of trying to convince people of stuff.
But you can propose anything these days.
And last night,
last night the president said,
I'll give you $5,000.
You can be very bold now with policy suggestions when the president's doing that to
bribe you to vote for him.
Yeah.
I'm sorry for stepping on you.
No,
I just,
I think we should come to the table with,
I'm only, I'm not, I'm Trump style joking, which means I'm not joking.
But I think we should have some truly crazy things that we come to the table with.
We should be like, we're blowing up Mount Rushmore and we're giving it back to the Native Americans.
We are, you know, we are tearing down every statue of Trump that goes up.
We are building a nationwide coast-to-coast train.
We are mandating two years of national service and there is free college after you're done doing that.
We are like, a national service can be like, I'm gardening.
I'm gardening.
Right.
We need to be fucking, like, we need to be crazy.
We need to ask things that, like, people on the right would be scared of.
They're like, they want to blow up Mount Rushmore.
Yeah, we do.
Okay.
You know what?
We won't blow up Mount Rushmore, but we do want universal health care.
Okay.
That's it.
Right.
And people are.
And we're keeping the dynamite.
We're keeping the dynamite.
And we are doing that train.
We are doing the train, yes.
This episode is coming out on the anniversary of 9-11.
and there's lots of talk at 9-11 this week,
especially from our president,
who confusingly has seemed to have claimed he was there on 9-11.
He doesn't actually mean that.
He means that he was there a couple days after,
but he does seem to be saying that he was there at 9-11
and that he got pulled out of the rubble by some big strong men.
The misinterpretation is also a,
a lie and he's been telling
this one for years but now it's done a deep dive
with receipt. I mean, Daniel
Dale did a deep dive and I read
the thing.
That counts. So yeah, here's Trump
speaking at
a 9-11 first
responders event. People can conquer
and no terror can destroy.
For three months after
September 11th the flames raged
in the rubble of ground zero
for nine months, rescue
and recovery crews workday
and night on the site.
I want to just thank my people.
I was building a big building in New York,
and I took the whole crew down there right after this happened,
and they had no hesitation.
Everybody went down with me.
We went down as a big group of people.
It wasn't too much we could do.
I'll be honest.
It was raw.
Nobody's seen anything like it ever.
We had other buildings.
The United States Steel Building was creaking, really creaking.
And we thought it was going to fall down.
The truth is, it creaked a lot.
It creaked.
It still creaks.
But it never came down.
And I'll never forget, two firemen, we thought it was coming down on top of us,
and two firemen, big, strong guys.
And I'm not the smallest guy in the world.
They grabbed me under the arms and said, got to get out of here.
And they literally lifted me up.
This is not easy to do.
I'm big.
They lifted me up, and they started running.
I said, fellas, I can run myself.
But they were amazing, but they thought it was coming down.
It didn't come down.
U.S. Steel.
Okay.
I'm picturing, so it sounds like he's describing Hassan Piker rescuing him.
Just a big, burly guy with these muscles.
Also, like, the Tobias funkification of him as his brain turns to Swiss cheese is so funny.
Everything he says sounds so accidentally gay.
It's like he just, he's so turned on.
He loves a beautiful man.
He loves a big, hot, strong man.
So I, like, I have been, I talked about this on Runaway Country with Alex Wagner, one of Crooked Media's podcasts.
And I talked about it.
No, I talked about it with John Lovett on Only Friends, another Crooked Media podcast.
And I am obsessed with this game that I invented, and you guys can play too, which is what movie did the president just watch and confuse with real life?
Like, I think you guys probably remember when he was describing like prayer rugs across the
border in Mexico and women being brought across by traffickers with duct tape on their mouths.
And he was just describing Sicario too.
I was going to say, Sicario, too. And there's been other times where it's like, oh, I think
he saw, what movie did he just see that he's describing in this obvious life? Escape from Alcatraz
or something. Yeah. Whatever. Exactly. So I like, I pulled up some things where I'm like,
I think it could be this. He, he, there was a famous picture from Ground Zero that, that, that,
that was taken of a dead priest.
And that's not funny.
That's just very sad.
But it's a famous picture of Father Michael Judge.
If you Google it, it is a man being lifted by several firefighters.
And I think maybe he saw that and it's like, I did.
That was me, but I'm alive.
And then also there was the movie World Trade Center, the 2006 Oliver Stone film that has a
scene that's similar to what he's describing.
As there's also a scene similar to that in the sum of all fears when the nuclear bomb goes off.
So there's a bunch of, like, what was on cable?
This is a really good theory.
We'll have to see, like, what the TNT schedule was.
Movie Hub or whatever, yeah.
I guess from this article that you found your receipts, Jonathan,
you know, just kind of laying out all the different things he said about 9-11 over the years.
Of course, he did call into Howard Stern famously saying that now my building is the biggest building in New York.
So that's...
Focusing the important stuff.
But it does seem that he had gone down to...
ground zero oh I love as he's reading through it he goes ground zero
he didn't know what the next word was
11 um but he he
we do that all the time on the show where
oh yeah like but he's doing it for real yeah checks notes he did it for real but
he went there to do interviews
to pretend outside of ground zero
to talk about.
Oh, yeah, it's scary.
It's scary in there.
Yeah, I saw it with my,
just because he's always had to be that little twerp
that's just hanging on to events.
He had to, this is an opportunity for my face to be on TV.
So I'm going to do this interview in front of the rubble.
That's what he did.
But he's also said that he could see people jumping off of the towers,
off of the buildings from Trump Tower.
No, you didn't.
You didn't.
You were watching TV, but you forgot you were.
watching TV. But that's exactly what Aaron is saying. It's like, no, your, your adult brain is
confusing or you just don't give a shit. Little Bob, yeah. Well, and then he makes up things sometimes,
too, with the Muslims cheering in Jersey City on 9-11. Yeah, but it also never existed on TV,
but he still insists that it actually did happen in Assad on television and no one is at, footage
not found, you know, like, it's, it's absolutely wild. No, Rudy Giuliani said that to him or something
and he remembers it. The part of this that he has said,
before is that he brought his construction guys down and they jumped in and got involved and
uh politifact years ago talked to a uh new york city fire department battalion chief who's like no the
police in the fire department were running everything we would have known if a big group of volunteers had
come in if they were affiliated with donald trump you don't think that would have been on camera with
trump being like see look at my eyes right it just like didn't happen he wasn't building a big building
I don't think at the time.
There was no, like, construction crew,
which is why he never, like,
could say a name of someone who was there
and no person has ever come forward
and said, like, yeah, I was on the Trump crew.
We went down there.
I was in the shit for a while.
He didn't pay us, but I was there.
He didn't pay us, but I wanted to volunteer.
So when you see him interviewed on,
I think it was NBC News and a German television show
two days later, September 13th,
it's just him walking around.
There's no one next to him.
There's no, like, construction guys with hard hats
or, you know, big, strong men
with the pelvic bones or whatever is just him.
He's being like, well...
He sounds the same except like 25 years younger,
so he's like, well, it's a terrible thing
and we never thought we'd see anything like this.
But he's setting the exact same...
None of my guys have ever...
And they're hard workers.
They work hard, but they don't...
They say that no one's ever seen anything like this before.
And he says stuff like that all the time,
but it was true with 9-11.
No one had seen anything like that before.
It's exaggeration to work in this case.
He says it now.
No one's seen anything like it before.
Everyone's a millionaire in America now.
It's great.
There's a thing like it.
Well, we did it, folks.
We've arrived at the end of our show.
Erin, thank you so much for being here.
Oh, thanks for having me.
This was fun.
Erin, can you please tell our listeners and viewers where they can find you,
anything to promote?
Sure.
My podcast, Hysteria, drops every Thursday.
Not this week because we took a week off, because Labor Day, I guess.
But then every other Sunday we drop an episode of our series,
This Fucking Guy, which is where we do kind of a week.
deep dive into the biography of a fucking guy who we hate. And this week we have George W. Bush.
We got to talk a lot. We can talk a little bit about 9-11 in honor of the anniversary,
but a lot of stuff about like his pre-9-11 fail sun antics. And it was a really fun episode.
It was like a 32-page single space script. I infuriated our video team by writing. And I only was
able to cut five pages from it. So it's a lot of fun. We also have a Ken Paxton episode.
if you want to go on to YouTube, you can look for that.
We talk about the stolen pen before everyone was talking about the stolen pen.
And then I also have a substack that's kind of like in a lull right now, but it's just Aaronryan.
Dot substack.com.
I talk about like, parenting and politics and all that stuff.
Awesome.
Wonderful.
Everybody go check all of those things out and like and subscribe.
Do that.
And have a good weekend.
And most important, we're equally important.
Just keep this in mind.
just a little thing for you to know is that we love you very much.
Oh, much.
Thank you.
I see you.
