Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello on today's episode. We talk about the latest news from Iran negotiations. Tulsi Gabbard's cult handlers, why conservatives are blaming Obama for our rotten political discourse and even more pool. Welcome back to even more news, the first and only news podcast. I'm Katie Stoll. Hi, good morning. My energy was angry for some reason. it doesn't match yours. So good day to you. Hello, Katie.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Welcome to the news. Your name, please, sir. Cody. Did you already say it? No. I wasn't listening. Hi, Cody. And don't worry, because Jonathan is also here.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Hi. Okay. You can worry about things, but don't worry about Jonathan and where he is because he's right here. Right there. Worry, sure. Worry about everything. What is going on with Iran? We're only going to talk about this for a max of two minutes.
Starting point is 00:01:18 They talked in Switzerland. It's where you want to talk. Apparently is going well. The Trump administration has lifted some oil sanctions and Iran says it or we say that Iran has agreed to UN inspectors getting back into those nuclear sites. So we're on the steps to a JCPOA. We're on the slow steps. You're just taping it back together.
Starting point is 00:01:41 just like getting as many. And I don't know about the state of the straight that much. There's been this chart of what the traffic was like beforehand and how the bump in traffic since all this deal stuff has started is not really what you would expect for the full flow of traffic. And you start to get a little worried about how Trump said we got four weeks of oil left. Right. Because if that doesn't start picking up again.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Well, because that was like, that's clearly. that's what he's been told and it's just like that's the reality you have to face sir and he's like okay well we can we can probably button this up before then right and was probably told by who or was probably assumed by whoever told him that
Starting point is 00:02:27 that he wouldn't then say it out loud as justification for the deal don't tell everyone in America we've only got a few weeks of oil they should know by now not to tell him anything like any toddler you tell them not to touch the hot stove they might want to to touch the hot stove so it's a risk look what i want to say about this before we move on to other things because my god how many times can we have this same fucking conversation but we recorded
Starting point is 00:02:54 thursday till the end of time and then the next morning uh-oh peace deals off because israel bombed levitton again and then two hours later it's like wait no israel is going to ceasefire and then it's like oh no, they're going to threatening to burn the whole country. It's nuts. It's impossible to keep up and everything's out of date. So we'll see where it stands and tomorrow. Yeah, and then next day and again.
Starting point is 00:03:23 We'll talk about our next episode, I'm sure. We'll be saying very similar things, I'm sure. Unless, you know, maybe JD's going to pull this one out. Maybe he's going to really shine. Maybe he's going to shine? No, the difference No, he's going to shine? The difference between a war with Iran
Starting point is 00:03:44 with this administration and other entanglements in the Middle East with past presidents, according to J.D. Vance's because this time we don't have a dumb president. So I'm quoting him from a year ago. It's making the rounds today. Everything he says should make the rounds every day. Colin Trump, Hitler, or Nixon, one or the other. Shall we move on to things that are not Iran?
Starting point is 00:04:06 Yeah, so we've got some new. old news or new wrinkles on the old news that Tulsi Gabbard is in a cult. I was surprised by the amount of people sharing it saying this is all shocking. And it is shocking. We're going to set it up the story. But we have, it has been common knowledge that Tulsi grew up in a cult. And it was, there was a foundation. I'm not sure at what age she, her family joined this cult, but young. And she, she, she. was raised in it and there was also an understanding perhaps, at least the implication was put out there that she had distanced herself from this cult. But I guess maybe not. Jonathan, what is this
Starting point is 00:04:52 reporting? Well, the New Washington Post report, they got lots of documents, lots of email messages. And they found that a lot of the things she supported in Congress and a lot of the things specifically that she said on cable news came word for word from emails sent from the leader or representatives of the Science of Identity Foundation in Hawaii, which is like, I guess, supposedly an offshoot of Hari Krishna's run by this guy, Chris Butler. Some of it maybe speaks to some of the disjointed beliefs or politics of Tulsi Gabbard and maybe explains why she was able to jump so easily from Democrat from a Republican. There was a lot of advice she was given on how to refer to what was going on in Syria. One of Tulsi Gabbard's personal email accounts got a directive
Starting point is 00:05:57 from someone in SIF saying, important to do, must tweet around 9A. am with a link to a video and a pre-written tweet, and it's something that Tulsi Gabbard specifically tweeted in 2014. At Barack Obama, please show Aloha to Kobani Kurds, need air strikes, heavy weapons, Mahalo, must see video. So they were like really running her social media and approving language for her to say on TV and tweet. So I do think that's what's new about this, is like we didn't really know the extent.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Yeah. Yeah, it was always sort of clear, like, okay, so this cult that she grew up in influences her sort of positions and her politics and she avoids certain topics because of it. But like, there's so much evidence in this of that, yeah, the actual relationship, not just sort of like, oh, influenced by it over the years and kind of like in that realm. But no, like literally like, yeah, do this, do this, say this. Yeah, influence isn't quite the right word. Directed. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:05 That is. You know, I forget what the example it was. Perhaps it was with Syria. They say, I think it's time that Tulsi has this idea to propose, you know. And it's like, oof. It's time for Tulsi to have this idea specifically. Yeah, the language is, uh, makes it. It's, frames it as though it's just, she's just, she's,
Starting point is 00:07:30 just a plant for this fucking cult. Like literally it's just like, oh yeah, you should run for office and then be our representative from the cult and we'll tell you what to do. Like, that is what the relationship seems to be or to have been because she resigned. And it's really for the idea of influence and power. It's cult stuff. Like, there wasn't really a consistent ideology as far as I can tell from the cult. And they did a lot of things like she would get heavily criticized in emails for not
Starting point is 00:07:58 representing herself well. she got an email from one of Butler's aides that said don't forget to smile etc don't do the eye thing and then the next day she was on CNN and opening her eyes I guess particularly wide while speaking and then the next day there was another email that went to someone else saying well from what I saw she's doing the fucking eye thing again so they were like really very persnickety about how she was presenting herself on TV it's pretty wild you want to see like Peter Thiel's emails about JD. You know?
Starting point is 00:08:31 I was like, J.D., stop fucking talking like that. You got to stop saying fundamentally so much, man. Like,
Starting point is 00:08:36 with a fucking, order a fucking donut. You've been dumpies of shit. I don't feel bad for Tulsi Gabbard because she's in this administration,
Starting point is 00:08:43 director of national intelligence, total scum. But like, she's been manipulated her entire life by these people. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:50 She grew up in the cult. Like, that's, you know, it's hard to, hard to crack out of that. I know she officially resigned.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Right after, Right after she arrested Fauci for good. Right after she arrested Fauci. She got him. She got him. She said created COVID. Created COVID. Created COVID.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Created COVID. And then he created it is what it is. It's very funny because the video, because she's like, I'm out. But first, evidence. But the post is just a video of her, like doing like a vlog type thing and sort of saying the accusation. Without evidence. Yeah, there are links to documents that don't support that Fauci created COVID, but whatever.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Trump's first director of national intelligence in this term was always doomed to fail because that person would be unable to arrest Obama and Fauci for the supposed, you know, the made-up crimes. So, you know, Pulte in his interim status can, I guess, fire people or try to do those things. And is sycophantic enough to Trump, like over the time? so that he might survive a while longer. You know, since he lasted over a year. And there's not the tension of her, like him being in a,
Starting point is 00:10:09 I mean, he's in a cult because he's in the cult of Trump. But like not, there's not two cults kind of like at odds with each other. I assume, you know, you're like, you're supposed to be in my cult. I'm the president. But you have this other secret cult that's still going to do this. Whereas he, you know, he's more free to do whatever. He can arrest Obama. He can just sort of show Trump AI videos of Obama being arrested to kind of keep him going for a longer.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Honestly, that might be enough. Just keep showing him a video. Like, look, this is what people want. Tomorrow, we'll get him tomorrow. They'll do the opening shot of Sunset Boulevard, except instead of William Holden, it's Obama face down in the reflecting pool. And, oh, it's a, you know, he'll be like, that's great. Let's do that. Let's make that happen.
Starting point is 00:10:56 That one, I like that. Why hasn't it happened yet? Because it's fake, sir. It's all made up. It's from a movie. It's an old movie. I'm sure you've seen it. This had to be on her radar as reporting that would come out.
Starting point is 00:11:10 And maybe there's something with the timing of her exit. Maybe. Maybe there's something with the timing of her exit. We don't know. I mean, there's articles going back to 2016, 2017. I think the New Yorker had one like, who's controlling Tulsi Gabbard or something like that. Who's talking for, or what does Tulsi Gabbard believe? Yeah, it's always been weird.
Starting point is 00:11:28 It's always been a weird question. Yeah, and so, like, we know she's been linked to this group, this guy for a long time, but I do think seeing the document, seeing the specific, like, word for word, like, directives. Yeah, maybe they knew that was. And how those directives actually manifested in the world and, like, oh, you can actually look at the timeline and see, like, oh, yeah, she tweeted that. Oh, yeah, she did the fucking I thing again or whatever. In my mind, I can't help but go. Who else?
Starting point is 00:11:58 is being controlled by powers that be. And I like a lot of them. We already mentioned J.D. Vance. I mean, yeah, by money. We expect that. By money and power. But what's this? And like, you know, like they're like general religious beliefs.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Not, you know, this guy. You know, like, okay, we all have influences and sort of, you know, ideologies or spirituality, whatever. But she was a director of national intelligence. That is fucked up. what a mess how could you like why that shouldn't shouldn't have been in that position
Starting point is 00:12:33 all the national intelligence apparatus they probably don't know much more than we do if people like this are in there and it's not like getting out like as soon as you get in that job you're like okay what are the secrets what are the things okay there aren't aliens we don't know anything else about the JFK thing
Starting point is 00:12:50 okay like what else is there and I would say that it's like oh maybe this administration just doesn't care but this has been happening a very long time. Makes you question all of her decisions and everything she tried to do. That will phone call when they took those ballots. All kinds of questions now.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Well, we should probably move on to some other topics. The Obama Presidential Library finally opened over the weekend. and the image of Obama brought up a lot of suppressed feelings among conservative media types. Well, they're very emotional. And one thing, and I think Cody, you noticed this a lot this weekend too, were conservatives saying things like it's Obama who's actually responsible for our diminished political discourse. He's responsible for all this vitriol and all this hate because they, said that Mitt Romney was an evil racist who was going to enslave everyone again.
Starting point is 00:13:59 If you aren't a weird conservative online, you might be thinking back and not remembering that. I'll read from one blue check guy specifically. His bio says Heritage American, so you got that. Wrote, Joe Biden went in front of a crowd of black people and told them that Mitt Romney was going to put them back in chains. you people have been lying and slandering Republicans for as long as I've been alive. What that person is referring to is during the 2012 campaign. Joe Biden was talking to a crowd in Virginia. Here's the quote. We've got a real clear picture of what they all value.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Every Republicans voted for it. Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they're proposing. Romney wants to let the, he said in the first hundred days he's going to let the big banks once again write their own rules. Unchained Wall Street. they're going to put y'all back in chains. Now, he shouldn't have said, he shouldn't have said,
Starting point is 00:14:58 they're going to put y'all back in chains. But to say that this quote, in context, is what's responsible for, like, Trump? It's absurd. One note about this particular account, they bring this up all the time. And other accounts do it too. It's the one thing they have
Starting point is 00:15:17 to prove that it's all Obama. But it wasn't even Obama. It wasn't even Obama. And here's one, like, little key thing about this is that the next day, Biden was like, oh, you know, here's what I meant. Moving on. Like that, that, the, the idea that saying something like that, and then kind of like, like, clarifying yourself the next day and then moving on is what, uh, is like the justification
Starting point is 00:15:49 for Donald Trump being. the like greasiest piece of shit in the world and like never apologizing for anything and being just a cruel oaf is absurd also this account like i mean uh and other examples of literally this same account um making this point over i've noticed this over months you guys called this kind innocent mormon neocan a literal rapist slaving nazi that would put black people back in chains another tweet. Obama literally ran on Mitt Romney will put black people back in chains and other stuff. But like one thing also, this pretty good count, I'm pretty sure all these people who say this are either like conservative operatives who like need something to say to prove like, well,
Starting point is 00:16:38 it's because of Obama said it. Also, many of them are like 22. So they were eight when this, like they don't, they don't remember they've been inundated with all these. liars lying about this stuff. And so to them, that's just what happened. And that's reality when all it is is based off of this one quote one time. But it's not, nothing's based off of anything. They're just trying to find manufacture a reason, manufacture evidence of their argument. When at the end of the day, the division that Obama caused in terms of what they're talking about,
Starting point is 00:17:16 they don't have to pretend like Obama was some perfect president that's infallible. But he's black. He's a black man. And everybody lost their minds or half the country lost their minds screaming from the rooftop about how he's not a citizen and, you know, all sorts of racist bullshit. And that is actually what they mean that Obama brought this by daring to be black. And I do think of this, yes, the library, it opened and it was a big to do this weekend. and it pissed them off.
Starting point is 00:17:52 A lot of the quotes were talking about how decent Obama is and how he would, the unity and now he would never, you know, they didn't name Trump directly, but creating a contrast between what we all remember to be true is the very different approach to politics that the Obama administration had versus this shit show. So they're just bringing out their pitchforks and trying their best to make him look like a specific kind of monster
Starting point is 00:18:25 when he really was a different one. Yeah, Obama was also hyper aware that he had to be so above board and so respectable and had to be squeaky clean, not thinking that, of course, they would find stuff anyway, like not just tan suit, all kinds of stuff. And so they've retconned what it was actually like to try and make it the Lib's fault for, everything that's happened, which they think is bad or good, it's unclear.
Starting point is 00:18:55 That's, yes. But I, like, so not just the retconning with, oh, the way they painted Mitt Romney as this evil racist, instead of just painting him as an out-of-touch rich guy, which is what he was, but also the idea that when he said, Trayvon Martin, if I had a son, it could, it would look like, he would look like Trayvon Martin. The greatest sin. Yeah, they're pretending that that is the third. thing that drove them all to Trump, the unforgivable Obama sin of saying that that drove everyone
Starting point is 00:19:26 to be as racist as they could be a few years later? Odious, odious people. Yeah, those are the two things. It is what Biden said once and then clarified the next day. And Obama pointing out accurately, like, yeah, 35 years ago, that could have been me. He looks like me. That is just a fact. And that to them was like, oh, so you're saying we're all fucking racist or something? And it is interesting, you pointed to this a little earlier. Like, they're saying like, no, he said this and he did this and he called everybody Nazis and rapists, which isn't true. And that's why we're awful pieces of shit now, which we think is good or bad. Like, it's not, it's, it's justification for behavior that they're admitting is terrible, but also saying it's okay. They're making
Starting point is 00:20:18 the same argument that we make about gerrymandering. Like, look, we have no choice in order to keep any semblance of balance of power in this country. We have to do the shitty thing that you're doing. And they're saying that that's what they're doing about being racist pieces of shit because of Obama saying a thing once and trying to get through to white America. Like, this is how black parents have to talk to their black teenage children. This is very telling that like, it's always Trayvon Martin comment. Put you all back in chains. Therefore, because of those two things over the span of eight years,
Starting point is 00:20:56 we're going to be awful 20 times a day for the rest of your life. It's just very, very childish and stupid. Also, we did mention the library, and I just wanted to say, maybe a hot take, I think it looks cool. I like it. I like the building. I like how it looks, and I'm sorry to everybody thinks it's ugly.
Starting point is 00:21:20 But I don't know. It's kind of neat. Yeah. I have a new appreciation for brutalism after watching the brutalist. Which doesn't really talk about this is. Not really about that. Yeah. Here's the history of architecture.
Starting point is 00:21:33 But I was like, I get it. You get it now. Looks pretty good. Speaking of how everything is the Obama's fault and how we all hate them and our behavior now for the rest of our lives is going to be based on our resentment for the Obamas. The reflecting pool isn't doing so great after we ripped out a bunch of stuff and then painted over it and then filled it up and then added more stuff and then it got worse and now it's peeling off and everyone's getting threatened with like 10 years prison time for putting their
Starting point is 00:22:07 hand in a pool. They spent so much money fixing the pool and it was. was immediately bad, immediately filled with algae again, and then seeing, you know, them pouring hydrogen peroxide in along the edges as if that's going to do anything. And now the paint is peeling off of the pool. And people keep getting arrested. They're trying to say that it's happening because of vandalism when we all know what it's, why it's happening. We all know why it's happening. And also, can we just throw the picture up on screen one of them of the guy that got the contract because he is a cartoon villain. I know.
Starting point is 00:22:49 He is a cartoon villain. It is shocking. And people are being generous by sharing an old photo of him instead of the newer photo of him. I think this is this AI, an AI fabricification of the oil barren tycoon type guy. I don't know. He's just a cartoon character. He's very silly looking. And I don't mean to appear in.
Starting point is 00:23:13 shame but fuck these guys well katy i'm going to let you off the hook on uh us talking about it a lot because it's not us that's talking about it too much no one would have even known anything was going on with the reflecting pool if he could shut the hell up about it for five seconds i mean he can barely get through a post threatening iran on his social media site then he goes on a 300 word screed about the reflecting pool and about how nothing happens in the reflecting pool is his And nobody cared about the stupid pool until he started bringing it up. And so now it's funny and hypocritical that he's like, I'm the perfect builder. And of course, it turns green again within a few days.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Can I read a quote from one of the guys who was arrested? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You sure can. So a three-time U.S. Olympian, David Hurd, who represented the U.S. in canoeing, told ABC News, he's on a bike ride. and he stops at the reflecting pool, he says as a, quote, curious, concerned citizen. Who wouldn't stop there?
Starting point is 00:24:18 Hey, let's see what's going on with this thing that's been the top story in America for a month. By like presidential decree. He's like, no, this is our story, actually. I've been told I have to care about this, so I'm stopping to check out the pool that's supposedly the best pool
Starting point is 00:24:32 and longer than things are tall. That we spent $14 million renovating. Right. So he says, I saw a piece of this loose end of this blue coating. I reached out and touched the end of that piece. That was loose, but still attached to the bottom. He says he didn't remove damage or destroy anything. He said he had no idea he was about to be arrested and was approached by National Guardsmen.
Starting point is 00:24:59 And they said, yes, US Park Police want to speak with you, sir. It's so stupid. Obviously, like, good luck to that guy and good luck to everybody being threatened with jail time for looking at a reflecting pool. They had more on sandwich guy than they do. Yeah. But like I've seen so many like, you know, the Matt Van Swalls of the world, just be like, there's, the media is spending so much time with the reflecting pool instead of like this or this or this.
Starting point is 00:25:26 And it's like, dude, he had a chart made to show how long the pool was. He didn't even build the pool. It's just an old fucking pool. It's just an old fucking pool that he like moved into. Jenny in Forrest Gump. ran through it famously. And the paint, like, I don't, we don't need to harp on any of this stuff. Because, again, it's silly and it shouldn't matter.
Starting point is 00:25:48 But he made it matter. Everybody said, don't paint it. Everyone was like, well, don't paint it. We don't need to paint it. It's stupid. Like, don't, we don't need American flag blue or whatever to, like, pretend, like, the pool is brighter. It's just this constant metaphor.
Starting point is 00:26:06 We're going to rip out the thing that I'm resentful for. and I'm going to literally paint over it to pretend like everything is fine, and that will slowly deteriorate over time because it's all fake. Or quickly deteriorate over the course of the day. Or quickly deteriorate over the course of a day, exactly. Yeah, no, you're right. Like we said before, it is a perfect metaphor. And it is fun to laugh at, but it is also enraging because how much more money needs to be spent on it?
Starting point is 00:26:38 14 million dollars have been spent and I guess that's a drop in the bucket but for an administration and a man that campaigned on trading the swamp and you know fiscal responsibility or something like we're going to find all the fraud and waste he's so waste you just can't it just everything is a waste none of this matters and it's the only thing he cares about and the only thing he cares about it's just how do you write it how do you write this like he may he's making a swamp it's so it's like we may be able like he's not going to want to leave in a couple years and like what if he gets kind of the ceremonial position of like keeping dc beautiful and he can renovate all the things in dc and we can laugh when they don't look good department of beautification yeah i don't know anything
Starting point is 00:27:36 about landscaping, pool maintenance, any of this stuff. So I'm trying to think how Trump would think, assuming he also, despite being in the hotel business and stuff, right, he should know a lot more than me. But my guess is he asked, the question I would ask, why can't we just put chlorine in it like a pool? Which keeps algae, right? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I'm sure there's a reason. There are probably reasons. Probably a lot of chlorine fumes in a pool that big would be bad. Like, I can come up with reasons. if I'm suddenly becoming the pool expert guy that everyone's pretending to be. But he probably didn't know it would be this tough. And I think we should give him this job permanently of DC beautification. Because it would be funny?
Starting point is 00:28:25 You can put a sombrero on the Lincoln Memorial. Who knows? They really didn't spend much time thinking on it. I believe I read somewhere that they just, the administration made the decision about which material to use. Oh yeah, the paint was his. He was like, yeah, make it bright blue
Starting point is 00:28:44 because I need to cover it in, well, it can't be gold, I guess. Blue, whatever. That's the color of the sky, right? And they'll say, sir, if we use that paint, it's going to do this. And he's just like, well, fix that. Don't do that. Do the thing that makes it not work.
Starting point is 00:28:58 I'm the guy who says do a thing and you figure out how to make it work. So it's your fault when it doesn't work. and it's algae and people are saying, hey, the paint's peeling off here. Let me touch the paint, and then you get thrown in jail. It's so stupid. It is.
Starting point is 00:29:15 So very dumb. Everything's so dumb, dumb, dumb, da-dum-dum-dum. Dda-dum-dum-dum. Stupid. I'm about to get dumber. Well, folks, we did it. This is the end. of our program.
