Hi, on today's episode, we talk about our bad president's bad way of talking and our media's bad way of interpreting him, the potential for midterm interference, our stupid vice president's stupid way of talking, and we also celebrate a very important or possibly depressing holiday.
Hi, hello and welcome back to even more news, the first and only news podcast.
I'm Katie Stoll.
Hi, Katie Stoll.
I'm Cody Johnston, and I...
Oh, oh, I see Jonathan.
Jonathan is sort of also here.
And I'm Jonathan, and I'm also here.
Oh, sorry to disappoint you all.
Jonathan is out.
You all knew that.
We told you ahead of time.
It's fine.
Will Gord, also some more news director,
and co-opold.
host of the podcast Talking Politics with Mom and co-creator of the man-boy nice YouTube channel
with our other beloved Gord Daniel Gorn and writer for some more days as well.
I'm part of the team y'all. I'm part of the team. What are we celebrating today?
We do have a holiday anniversary to commemorate and that would be 10 years of the Access
Hollywood tape. You know the tape. You know the tape. You know
know the tape.
Who?
The one where he infamously told Billy Bush that women let him do whatever he wants,
that he can just grab them by the pussy.
I've been thinking a lot about, not that specifically,
about how 10 years of our lives have gone by and what has changed and gotten worse
and how fundamentally I've changed.
I remember, well, I remember I was sick as sick as can be the day that this access
as Hollywood news broke, and I at least thought, well, that's going to do it. That's going to do them in.
I'm sick, but there's some positiveness today in the fact that this can't continue.
Everybody in the world is, all of the Republicans are coming out with statements about how this is unacceptable.
We can read some of these.
Yeah, I think it might be worth remembering some of the figures who totally were embarrassed by this and went away after their craven depravity was revealed.
Senator Ted Cruz.
These comments are disturbing and inappropriate.
There is simply no excuse for them.
Every wife, mother, daughter, every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
I agree.
Marco Rubio, current Secretary of State.
Donald's comments were vulgar, egregious, and impossible to justify.
No one should ever talk about any woman in those terms even in private.
Agree.
Senator Mike Lee, also known as based Mike Lee.
It's occurred to me on countless occasions.
today that if anyone spoke to my wife or my daughter or my mother or any of my five sisters the way
Mr. Trump has spoken to women, I wouldn't hire that person, wouldn't want to be associated with that
person. And I certainly don't think I'd feel comfortable hiring that person to be the leader of the
free world. And then of course what Donald Trump himself said that day certainly has been an interesting
24 hours. Certainly has, Don.
I agree with everything everybody said.
It's so sad to think back to that moment.
And I remember watch.
It was like a news event.
You know what I mean?
It was all on every channel.
And I specifically remember even more than Donald Trump's statement was just like Billy Bush giggling and egging him on.
And like he wanted to give him a big high five.
but I remember like you thinking, okay, it's over.
And then we got them.
Here we are.
Here we are 10 years later.
Not if Comey has anything to say about it.
I've been talking about some of these reflections that I've been having with you guys about hope and whatnot.
But part of that comes back to 10 years ago where I felt very different about my perception of the world.
And I remember the, and I didn't think certain things could happen.
I felt firmly grounded in like, yeah, I know that bad things are possible, but we're racing towards good.
Things are improving.
You can't roll back rights.
People are better than this.
We can rise above the fray that this is going to be hard, but on the other end of it will be even closer to our goals.
I believe that.
I also was so devastated when he won.
And I remember talking to my dad about it and being so mortified.
I'm going to be an old woman by the time he's gone.
And my dad was like, it's only going to be four years.
You were wrong, dad.
I am an old woman.
It was almost only four years.
The other thing it reminds me of is the fact that, like, Hillary Clinton, lover,
hater, I mean, obviously there's plenty to critique about her.
But she got royally screwed by so many men in that election.
She had her husband who just needed to be gregarious and walk on to Lorette.
She had Anthony Wiener and all, you know, the whole email scandal that that created, plus James Comey afterwards releasing that letter. I still think that if that letter didn't come out, she still would have won. She would have won. But it's, and then Donald Trump being able to get away with this. And it's like, the message is like, you can be an admitted groper and be the president of the United States twice.
I think it's important to contextualize it also as we've been going through Me Too.
We were still grappling with certain things and like a lot of women.
And we talked about this last week with the Cornell 7 rape accusations and just the culture, the rape culture that we live in.
And at that moment thinking there's no way and then being proved very wrong and just seeing everything that's transpired since.
And we continue to have these same conversations and have to fight to treat women with basic decency to listen to their stories to empathize, to try to put ourselves.
And we're just begging people for basic respect and change in, you know, yes, Senator Mike Lee, you wouldn't want your wife or your daughters or your sisters to be treated like this.
And yet you will allow yourself to vote for it.
Those are other people, though. Notably in Mike Lee's tweet, it's like, if that ever was said about me or my or people in my life, it's usually only when it's about people that they know.
I don't understand why people vote for this man. I understand in theory. I can get the log line about it. But at the end of the day, aren't we better than this? We don't, how can we knowingly, like, of course, there's lots of politicians that are rapists, but this is just brazen out in the open, not even covering it up. And how is that acceptable?
You wouldn't associate with that man.
If that man came up to you in the bar
or was at a dinner party
and mouthing off like that around your wife,
you wouldn't.
You'd say, get the fuck out of my house.
But you want him to be your president?
He's a movie villain.
He's a caricature of a movie villain.
It's really absurd and disgusting.
But like, you know, they all come back around
and all the little statements they can give.
But ultimately, again, what we talked about last week,
it's this cultural,
sentiment that like women are owned and men are owed and it's like constantly just like men trying
to like assert that in the culture now we see every fucking day all the time but it's uh he is definitely
like not unleashed in the sense that like he's the cause of it but he is sort of like it's
again it's like 10 fucking years yeah he gave a permission slip for like monsters people to be
who they are and that's what we've been seeing
for the past 10 years. And we were saying that was what was going on 10 years ago. And it's all
bared out correctly. We've seen a lot of really, really horrible people reveal themselves
because it's okay to do that. And now it's being almost celebrated. Yeah. No, it's, it's seen as a,
it's not seen as a virtue, but it's, you know, it's their vice signaling is what they all love to do.
Exactly. I know we got dangerously close with Graham Platner. We did get dangerous.
close with a person with credible accusations of assault.
And I'm proud to say that even though in some elements, it was a mess.
It was a mess that we had to extricate ourselves from.
And we did it.
Yeah, there is a difference between, there's definitely a difference between how, you know,
the Democratic Party with all its flaws.
does take this stuff more seriously.
And when accusations that are credible like that come up, they push that person out.
They say, we're not going to.
Where's Swalwell?
Where's Swalwell?
Yeah, he's gone.
I mean, and rightfully so, I thought even back then that they might, in 10 years ago,
that they might actually push Donald Trump out and say, like, we're going to have to have
somebody else run or, you know, just punt this thing and just give up.
John Toon.
Speaking of other quotes from the day,
now Senate Majority Leader,
Donald Trump should withdraw
and Mike Pence should be our nominee
effective immediately.
One person saying it didn't happen.
For a couple years,
we had to deal with Andrew Tate
and his rapist brother.
And as like the,
and some conservatives pushback on it,
to Ben Shapiro's credit,
he was one of the few who was like,
this guy's a scumbag, actually.
We had to contend with that for so long.
and like this culture forming around
these like obvious like monstrous rapists
who are happy to be that.
And we keep it all, again,
it all just bears out and bears out and bears out
and bears out every single time.
And tired of it.
Luckily though, Donald Trump is very, very unpopular now.
And luckily he has learned to sort of like
be more careful with his words and how he speaks
and his communication has improved
I would say a whole lot.
We're going to talk about this L.A. San Diego.
Yeah, let's watch.
So this is a story.
Let's watch the clip.
This is a story that's been going on for a couple of days,
and everyone's up in arms about it,
and there are reasons for it to talk about.
So let's start with the quote that he said first.
With the word, it's just artificial.
It's a little bit high.
It's a small price to pay for keeping the world safe,
keeping our country safe.
They can take out a city.
Let him take out Los Angeles.
Let them take out San Diego.
That's, this is a very small price to pay.
And it's going to be over with very soon.
It's essentially almost over with.
And they might keep going a little long, you know?
They always say they have a big threshold for pain.
They need it.
Let me tell you, they need it.
But it's going to end very soon.
And it'll end one way or the other and your gas and your gasoline and all of the things.
It'll end one way or the other.
I'd prefer it ends one way.
Like, you don't want the president to be like,
yeah, you know, one or the other is going to end.
And it might be, it's like, it's just, he's such a, it's,
stop talking like that.
Cody, it's the weave and you just don't understand the weave.
It's just so absurd to like, know that you're the president
and know that you're communicating about a war ending.
And being like, yeah, you know, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Who knows?
Maybe it'll be bad.
Maybe it'll be, I like, don't just be.
real person, but that's not the important part of the quote.
Should I play another version of him saying this?
So let's discuss this real quick.
Because what happened was and what he's talking, and everybody hears it at home,
you were just listening to it.
He's saying the small price to pay is the increase in gas prices.
That's what he said.
So what he said at the beginning of the clip.
And what he's saying is, well, you know, that's a small price to pay for not having them blow up
Los Angeles or San Diego. Let them blow up Los Angeles, San Diego. And then you'll wish that we had
low gas prices. Is what he's trying to say? Wish that you could, you would have dealt with the
slightly higher gas prices. Yes. And deal with the, deal with the prices. Or we have to let, like,
let them do that. So he's not communicating well and he's bad at communicating and he's, I'll say to
third time. He sucks at talking. It sounds like you're a Trump sympathizer to me, Cody.
Well, interesting, because I disagree with that assessment. But to me, at least it with this initial clip, aside from like, we should have a president who speaks coherently and can communicate ideas effectively. Because clearly we don't have that right now. When did we have that last? Oh, my God. But the interesting thing to me, at least, for the clip, specifically this one, is that he said, let them blow up Los Angeles. And his audience, the crowd, cheers.
because they interpreted it incorrectly as well.
Like what I explained is correct, I think.
But the wrong interpretation that everyone ran with is the interpretation that the crowd had and they cheered.
And that is bad.
Well, we have the benefit of being able to pause it and rewind it or see a transcript of it laid out.
And yeah, it is disturbing that they would cheer for that.
I want to talk about this because, no, you're not defending Donald Trump by.
stating this fact.
I feel of two minds,
I think it's annoying.
I think it's annoying
the purposeful
misunderstanding of this clip.
I understand that he did say
this word.
That's sentence structure.
But we've been doing this
for 10 years.
We know that his brain is mush
and getting musher.
And that it's not coherent.
It's not linear.
His thought.
We're well versed in how he speaks.
And anybody that watches that
at this point should be able to understand that what he's saying is different from what everyone
is screaming about. It's still bad. It's still bad. He's saying don't worry about it. He's saying,
this is a small price to pay. People are in distress. People can't afford things. They can't have
the effects on agriculture, on farmers, on truckers, on our shipping, on production, everything is,
it's undeniable.
That is the bad thing.
But just real quick,
I know that if it was reversed,
that conservatives would be running with it and would be blasting it.
And I'm not saying that there isn't some sort of strategic move on Democrats parts
to take the clip and campaign on it.
But it feels bad.
It feels wrong.
Well, and as soon as someone hears that story, like,
oh, the media is saying that Donald Trump said this,
then you look into it like, well, he didn't say that.
So they're lying.
What else? Like that just, it just bruise mistrust. The interpretation that he's suggesting that like L.A. and San Diego should get bombed or whatever. And that's a, that's not what he's saying. We don't need to make up or misinterpret what Donald Trump's saying because what he's saying is actually, what he's actually saying is bad enough. And if you zoom out and think about the context here is he's fearmongering.
And excusing the impact of this war of choice that he decided on that is having an impact.
I mean, forget about the people that are being killed needlessly in Iran.
Actually, don't forget about them.
That's part of what's important here.
But the gas prices are a result of this war that he chose.
It's a war of choice.
And he's trying to suggest that if we didn't do this war,
they would be nuking L.A. and San Diego.
But of course, they didn't have a nuclear weapon.
I'm not a foreign policy expert,
but I would venture to guess that they don't have missiles
that can reach all the way from Iran to the west.
I don't know why they wouldn't bomb the East Coast first,
but why they would go to the West Coast.
And if they did have a nuke,
I don't think they would blow up Los Angeles either.
They don't need a nuke because they can hold the global,
oil market hostage through the straight to
end the war.
So he's trying to fearmonger.
What are you talking about?
Will they don't get a nuke.
You're right.
You're right.
It's absurd.
He is fear mongering and lying about the war
that they've lied about since the very beginning.
The illegal war also.
And they haven't done anything about their nuclear capabilities.
Not really.
Well, I don't really know the ins and outs, but from what we understand,
nothing's changed.
We've gained nothing.
And again, we've talked about all this.
so many times. It's so frustrating. But when this illegal war of choice started, they gave like
10 reasons of why they did it. And one day it was this, another day was another thing. And often
those contradicted each other. They had nothing to do with each other. And it would change when
that changed. So like, he is just trying to take one of those reasons that is not true and
to map it onto the current situation to justify the whole thing. While also, yeah, using like,
oh, the lib coded Los Angeles and the lib coded Sandy, like California. We hate California. We all know.
So that is a choice of his to make his point. And so there's a lot there in the subtext and the text,
but none of it is the interpretation that was initially passed around. I mean, and everybody's
running with it. Everybody's putting out their statements.
about we condemn this and this is unacceptable.
Because he speaks irresponsibly all the time.
But now he's turned it into like one of his greatest hits on the campaign trail and clarifies by saying, and we're not going to let that happen.
And that's like basically giving the Scott Jennings of the world ammunition to go on CNN and say, you guys lied.
You always lie about what Trump says.
Obviously he doesn't want this to happen.
and he's trying to prevent this from happening.
And then we're arguing about that instead of the fact that, uh,
this war is pointless and he started it and has had all these terrible consequences.
And that his crowd thought that he was saying we should blow up Los Angeles and cheers.
Like all those things are issues.
Let's watch the second instance of this because he said this and everyone spread it around.
And then the next day, of course, whenever he hears like, oh, hey, they love the shark electric
And so he's going to do that over and over again. So he clearly heard that people were up in arms about this and said it again. And he said it a little bit differently. He adjusted his language a little bit. He's malleable. Hey, people can change.
Oil, a little more, maybe more than a little bit. A lot of people thought it would be three, four, five times that when I went in, I thought it could be much higher than that. But we are paying less than under the Biden administration. He didn't do anything.
He gave you the highest inflation in history.
He didn't do anything.
But you want to see trauma?
You want to see problems?
And I said it the other day, let them hit a missile into San Diego, Los Angeles, on the way.
Let them hit.
You want to see a horror show?
You want to see problems?
Let them hit San Diego.
Let them hit Los Angeles.
And you want to see some bad things happen.
You want to see a country that would be in free fall.
We're not going to let that happen.
We protect our cities.
protect our country. We're not letting that happen.
All right, a little bit better.
A little bit better, but he's still saying, like,
accept my, these higher gas prices or you're going to get blown to smithereens.
I mean, it's a little bit better in that it doesn't sound like he's calling for San Diego and
L.A. to be obliterated.
The clip we just shared, notably, the caption, we don't need to call everybody out.
Aaron Rupar shares clips, and we know he does, and we appreciate those clips because
We're not going to be finding those clips without him.
But the caption of that that he included cut off before Trump explicitly said,
and we're not going to let that happen.
We don't let that happen to our cities.
Fuck Donald Trump, obviously.
He's a piece of shit.
Fuck him.
Who cares at this point.
We're talking about this so long.
But also, like, that's deliberate.
It's deliberate.
It's just the sincere interpretation of it is bad enough that you don't need to
make up a fake interpretation. I've seen so many people quote tweet that specific
clip with that caption be like all the people who were saying it was taken out of context.
What do you have to say now? And I'm like, it's even more taken out of context because they
literally, he literally cut out the context at the end. So it's just frustrating because we
don't need to lie about this monstrous freak who's lying about the war and the reason
we're doing the war and the sacrifices everybody has to make for the stupid war that's illegal
that he decided to do for no reason. Iran wasn't going to have the capacity to blow up Los Angeles
with a nuclear weapon. Like, they didn't have that capacity. They didn't have a nuclear weapon.
They didn't have the missiles to do it. They didn't have the desire to do it.
And you're telling me if they launched something from Iran, we're not going to intercept it or something,
even if they did have that. Like, anyway, it's all fear mongering. This is all from the right. This is how
he is trying to spin the war to get people on his side. And from the left, this is how we're trying to spin on Donald Trump and have people focused on what the only thing they really want to focus on, which is campaigning on not Donald Trump. So this is just a frustrating encapsulation of all of those dynamics and how they can very easily backfire because, again, it's looking dishonest.
Jonathan, who is not also here, did also include some other quotes from the president during that same speech, that initial night.
The first, I think, just 10 minutes, he pulled some quotes, some of them out of context.
But I thought that it might help contextualize and sort of just give a little color to the president and also might be fun for people to hear.
So here's some quotes from the president.
We got more votes than anybody, and that's because I like you, and you like me, and that's the way it is.
And it's not a damn thing we can do about it, not a thing we can do about it.
Good, fair point. Okay. Also, from Donald Trump that night, I always give it. I always give it to Jim and his beautiful wife.
Again, some context has been removed, but I think that has, that's pretty clear what's going on there.
Another from our beautiful president, and they'll shoot at us a little bit. Their shoot being,
We knock it down like it's, it's crazy.
One more time for that one.
Oh, my God.
What?
And they'll shoot at us a little bit.
Their shoot being, we knock it down like it's, it's crazy.
So like if they shot a bomb at L.A.?
I don't know.
Yeah, right.
That sort of goes against his initial point, right?
Because it was like they shoot at us a little bit.
And then we knock it down.
It's crazy.
Yeah.
But they are also maybe going to nuke L.A.
Well, I guess he's also referencing the conflict.
Wait, what's that thing about fascism, though, Cody, that they talk about when they talk about our enemies?
They're what?
They're weak and strong.
Okay.
They're both weekend strong.
They're demonic soy boys that we have to kill.
Any sort of squirmish, any kind of confiding that happens over there, we just knock it down.
I'm sorry, sir.
More reports every day of the damage done of the toll on our soldiers.
their suicide attempts, their, you know, despair, lack of food, more injury.
So I take issue with they'll shoot at us a little bit and then knock it down.
We shoot their knocks, whatever.
A little bit, just a little bit of shooting.
We knock it down.
There's one more of him making fun of people dying outside of his rally if you want to hear that too.
Ah, we actually built a big Jumbotron.
You know what that is?
This big monster screen.
We hang it at the side of the building.
I hope the building is structurally okay
because if it's not structurally okay
Pillon's going to call me and going to say
sir we had a collapse
there was some people around
I hope it's structural do you think it is
I think it is Jim
so it's the president
ladies and gentlemen there he is
and ladies and gentlemen that's our guy
casually musing about
mass casualty events
I have you folks heard of a jumbotron
speaking of election anxiety
which I think we all have.
Yes.
All the time.
I try not to be too.
I don't know.
What's the balance here, folks?
I feel hopeful about turnout.
I feel hopeful, even though I don't think that we should necessarily fully trust the polls,
there certainly are some anomalies that could be happening.
And that is worth taking into consideration.
You know, I mean, there is a new theory going on.
going around right now that rural Trump voters,
Midwest specifically,
are kind of not really answering pollsters.
So that's something to take into account
in some of these places. However, in general, I feel hopeful.
Or just lying, you know, those people are dishonest,
whatever, like, we don't know.
I don't want to yuck the yum too much.
But I do think it's, I know, by using that phrase.
Yeah, it's too late, Katie, it's too late.
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
So not to yuck the yum.
Oh, you said it.
Okay.
But there certainly are things being floated around that are alarming and feel stressful.
And unfortunately, anything's possible with this administration.
One of the things is this Russ vote, this ominous Russ vote speech that Trump gave.
Yeah.
In the context, I think is appropriate in the context of what we've been talking about this whole episode,
which we'll never stop talking about because he's never going to die.
how Donald Trump speaks and how sometimes he can mean something and sometimes he cannot mean
anything. Sometimes it's what he just heard. Sometimes he's conflating something he heard with
something else he heard or something, not that he read, but a picture he saw or something like
that. And so it can be a little alarming hearing him talk about things that could be nothing
but could be something quite alarming.
So, yeah, let's watch it real quick.
Director of the Office of Management and Budget,
Russ, vote, who's fantastic.
He's on a job.
We have some big surprises coming up in another few weeks, right, Russ?
He's going to be one of the very important people
in the history of our country, in my opinion.
He's got some great things happening.
So people jumped on this.
He could be talking about anything.
He could be talking about,
fraud charges. He could be talking about overhauling the office in some way. But in the context
of him being on this campaign trail, of him suggesting it's the next few weeks, which,
what's in a few weeks? It is ominous. Feeling. Yeah, he's the he's the project 2025 guy. He's the guy.
And the fact that Trump is calling him out specifically about something going to happen in the next few
weeks, given the context, is not great to know or hear. Yeah, I have two minds about it. Like,
like you guys have said, it could literally be anything. It can also be nothing at all. I mean,
on the one hand, it's like midterms. Does he have some secret plan to, you know,
disrupt the election? On the other hand, it's like, is it more like when he said, oh, yeah,
we're going to have a health care plan in two weeks or we're going to have infrastructure
week.
Right.
Like, you know, just, we're going to do something really good soon, you know, like, I can't
decide.
He does that thing where he's like, I've got a big speech, a big speech this week coming
up, big announcements, and it's just him talking about his accomplishments.
He inflates so many things in his head because of who he is that it could, yeah,
could be nothing.
But also, he's a criminal.
He's a criminal.
And, you know, it's not like Russ Vote is some hot name to invoke with his crowds.
Like, people know who he is.
But maybe it is these days.
I don't know.
But anyway, I didn't want to not acknowledge that because I'm not saying anybody, we're all conspiracy theorists to a bit to a degree these days.
I'm not trying to tell people that you're overreacting.
I am trying to acknowledge it and say that we don't know.
We don't know if he's actually going to re-up.
strikes on Iran between now and then. That has apparently been floated. The other bit of
anxiety-inducing election news actually broke this morning. A journalist Kyle Clark from Colorado
reported today that Tina Peters, she's the former Mesa County Clerk recorder in Colorado.
And she was jailed in connection with the 2020, not 2020, 2020, 2020 election, election denial
trying to overturn election security.
Because I was right.
So she was one of the heroes who tried to save democracy?
She gave unauthorized access to voting systems.
It's not good.
I'm not going to butcher the very specific details.
What is important to know is that Democratic Governor Jared Polis pardoned her.
Not great.
Regardless, she's been pardoned.
And now it's been reported that she has met with President Trump about election plans.
and apparently has been encouraging plans to grab ballots across the United States
implement a hand count of the ballots to, you know, reduce fraud.
Alarming.
You know, and they've also, like apparently her lawyer was speaking about it
and they're preparing for any sort of scenario, including a civil war scenario.
And again, I don't know how much weight to give this.
but it's alarming sounding in conjunction with everything i mean it's all like yeah there's you know
it's conjectures to lawyers they want attention they want to talk they want to be in the story
they want to feel important but also like if she was there talking to the president that's not good
what what shouldn't be taught shouldn't be talking to that guy um and so you know none of that's good
and I know we try to keep an even temper,
even heads about this sort of thing
and what he is capable of doing,
what he's not capable of doing,
what he can and can't do,
but also you can't do something
until you can do it.
So, you know, it's not great.
Just get out and vote, folks, get on vote.
Yeah, normally you would hear something like this
and be like, this is just some kook, you know,
spinning up some.
random nonsense and just ignore it.
But then it's like this person met with the president.
And then the president, I mean, you remember in 20, I mean, we remember Rudy Giuliani going,
you know, hold on, what's that landscaping company that he?
Four seasons total landscaping.
We remember Rudy Giuliani going out in front of four seasons total landscaping.
Melting in front of our eyes.
Melting ooze from his.
brain and
Trump like leaking
his hair turned to water
Sydney Powell all these
you know the Mike the pillow guy
yeah all the all the like
the kooky people
like who gravitate
towards this kind of thing and who he
but he listens to them
magnetic like about like he just attracts
these kinds of people they do his bidding
because he you know validates
whatever thing they've concocted and he likes someone to tell him like, hey, I have a way for you to
like win, you know?
So, and there's nothing I would really put past Trump at the same time.
We need to vote.
And there are people who are being diligent about the shenanigans that Trump is going to do.
People are going to be ready with lawsuits if he pulls some kind of crap.
And then we also have to be ready for hopefully, if.
the midterms go well, the crazy stuff that's going to come out right after the midterms
and be ready to fight against those narratives and whatever bullshit he has up his sleeve.
But I don't blame anyone for being alarmed when they hear this stuff.
I mean, because there's more. There's more.
Yeah. I mean, they've said what, they're not inviting international election monitors.
For the first time in decades.
We haven't even mentioned every little thing about what the,
like, oh, this, they're going to try this. What the Supreme Court is allowing states to use a federal
database to screen voters. And like, they're saying like, it's not going to really have an impact here,
but it might affect like naturalized citizens down the line. And all these little things
that might not work or have an effect this election cycle. But obviously they are trying and
seeing what works and building something for the election.
in two years.
They're not thinking,
Russ Fote is there.
He's the Project 2025 guy.
They're not thinking in like,
oh, what's going to happen tomorrow?
What are we going to do next month?
No, they're thinking long term.
His role is to think long term.
And when they do all these little things
that may not affect this election now
or may not do this,
well, it's all building towards the future.
And it might not work again.
But it is a lot of...
But you are well within,
reason to feel antsy about it or anxious, a little jumpy.
Yeah, they're crime guys.
They're all crime guys. The criminals. It's a crime guys. It's just crimes.
I mean, not to mention all the way down.
All of the weird problems with individual states voter registration system.
They're in Texas. I don't know if we mentioned this at the time, if we meant to or if it got bumped.
But earlier this year in Texas, a software bug prevented, let's see, 590,000 registrations from being
sent to county officials.
I think they got that in time to sort it out.
But what the fuck?
What are we talking about?
Other states, there have been other things.
It's just not great.
Elon's lasers.
This is why you should all check your registration right now.
Make sure you're registered.
The deadlines are coming up in different states.
Yeah, I check mine too.
Just double check it.
I guess that's all we need to talk about this for now.
We'll be talking about it every week.
Yeah, we're talking about it every single week.
every day after.
But make sure you're registered.
Be aware of the potential issues.
Have a voting plan.
Maybe do what you can within your friend.
Maybe you want to all fill out your ballot
and have each other's back when you drop them off.
I don't know.
I don't live in your state.
But get or done, folks.
You don't know.
I mean, I live in your state.
Yeah, we're not the only two people in the state.
Who knows?
Should we have some fun?
watching J.D. Vance? There's like 20 clips of this guy from the past week, and we're only
going to play one, because who has the time. But this guy has such fucking contempt for his voters
and people who listen to him. He doesn't respect anybody. He thinks you're all so fucking
stupid. It is wild. So let's watch him. Let's watch him, dog. How do you define socialism
personally, and why do you think socialist candidates are popping up everywhere across
country. Oh, man. You know, I guess it's honestly, it's a hard term to define these days because very often
socialism, you know, classically, you would think socialism is about prioritizing workers. And yet, in reality,
I guarantee that most of the self-described socialist running across the United States of America are going
to how about this announcement today, which is prioritizing American workers over foreign workers. So I don't know
what the term means anymore. I think in reality, what it actually means in the American context is
that you want to replace American workers with foreign workers and you want boys to play in girl sports.
That's what unites the socialists that I see running across the United States of America today.
He hates everybody so much, such, just such utter disregard for anybody's like ability to think.
Well, A, he has talked about this in the past and it's interesting he didn't answer the why are these
people popping up because he's talked about it in the past.
in interviews and acknowledge that like, well, yeah, things aren't going well for people and they need like, they need some.
They need somebody to speak to them or whatever. But I just wanted to give him credit. I know. But in his answer, he said, I think in reality, what it actually means is and gave his bad stupid definition. And he didn't use the word fundamentally, which he loves to use every single time he talks about this. And like, I was waiting for it.
Like I think maybe he knows.
I think maybe he's caught on because it's like you can imagine you can hear it right now.
Well, I think fundamentally what socialism is and this level of blah, blah, blah, but he didn't do it.
So great job, Vance.
Bad answer will.
Do you agree?
I agree with that.
I agree with that.
Well, you know, it's funny because J.D. Vance is no dummy.
I mean, he's a dummy.
He's definitely a dummy.
But he's no dummy.
He went to Yale.
He knows what socialism is.
And you can hear, you can see the way.
wheels turning. He starts going, wait, okay, if I say what socialism actually is, if I say,
well, you know, socialism is when the workers own the means of production or, you know,
is people are equal or a more democratic workplace. Yeah, he can't say that because if you say it
out loud, he's afraid that people might go, wait, that's actually sounds good. That doesn't sound so
bad. And so they have to just leave socialism as just an emotionally evocative boogeyman. And so it's so
funny when he actually gets confronted, what is it? He says, well, they say it's for the workers.
But but then he defines it as people who want foreign labor over American labor and then people
who want boys to play in girl sports. I mean, it's just Ben Shapiro Daily Wire. And,
caricature of the left.
But the other thing that makes me so fucking mad about this when he's talking about
prioritizing American workers over foreign labor is that this administration has lowered the
standards for the H2A visa foreign, you know, it's like a foreign labor program, which,
And it lowers the standards so that it cuts American farm workers out and creates a situation of essentially legalized slavery within the H2A program.
And then that, because they exploit that system, it also creates the circumstances by which they can use ICE to terrorize undocumented workers because they don't need to worry.
because normally farm labor is done by undocumented workers,
but now they have this sort of legalized indentured servitude program
that prioritizes foreign labor over American workers.
So it hurts American workers, foreign workers, undocumented.
It hurts everybody.
That's their game.
You got to hurt everybody.
I don't even think the MAGA people are supportive of this at all.
I don't think they know about it.
But like, yeah, if you're like, you create this, you have this program and you lower the standards and you lower their wages and you have this sort of like bottom of the barrel offer, then, well, American workers are going to be like, well, that's not good.
And then so foreign workers are going to take it, but it's not good.
And then like you said, like then they use it to terrorize people because they don't actually want to get out only the criminals and only the, you know, the worst of the worst.
It's just everybody.
And this is a way that they can terrorize everybody.
They think so little of their voters and of their base.
And it works.
Some people don't care to actually do some research or connect dots for themselves about this,
especially if you're a super fan of his work so far.
But it's just so lazy and on its face not true that that's not what socialism.
You're just conflating talking points about the left in general,
but nothing to do with materially what socialism is or what the deep.
or what it looks is about or what it looks like here in America.
You're not having a good faith conversation about it at all.
Now that I expect you to, but you're just saying it and accepting people to be dumb enough to dumb with a bee enough to just gobble it up.
You're so right. He's so stupid.
And it's funny because like he is saying like, well, normally you think of like socialism as like empowering workers.
But in America, it's foreign workers and boys and playing sports with girls.
And so if you're watching that, you're like, okay, I guess I don't like the American version of socialism or whatever.
But he seems to think that the other form of socialism is good.
Like the implication in what he's saying is that American socialism is bad.
But the other kind that empowers workers, that's good.
But we don't, these socialists in America don't do that.
They do the bad version.
but there is a version that is good.
He almost dances into the territory of saying something about socialism that might actually resonate because they're going to look up the real definition and be like it's good.
Well, and that's what we're dealing with here, isn't it?
Like more and more, say it all the time here, but I'll just keep banging this drum.
Our fundamental existential crisis that we're facing isn't about left versus right.
It's about us versus them.
It's about, yes, the workers.
having like people affordability being able to to live your lives being able to have basic needs
covered and dignity and um without all of this bullshit and and um that actually resonates when you talk
to people about what they're struggling with it's that it's the basics and so if that message gets
through that socialism is about the workers yeah any any mega fans any like republicans uh conservatives
watching all of you.
I know you're here because you love this show.
A sizable maga fan base.
Just go look into non-American socialism and see how you feel about that, I guess,
because clearly J.D. Vance likes it and thinks it's good.
Yeah, but, you know, he's so online.
I'm sure he saw like Zonormandani talking to Theo Bonn and about socialism.
And I think they're afraid of that, you know,
they're afraid that more people.
might realize what it actually is.
They should be.
He's starting.
He doesn't want to say, well, it's the, it's the dictatorship of the proletariat, which
is really just means power to the people.
I don't want to say that.
Which I'm one of you, right?
I know.
Ignore everybody I surround myself with.
But like me, we're the people.
He does that all the time too.
It's like people like you and me, fuck off, J.D.
Well, guys, I think we've done it.
I think we've arrived at the end of our program for today.
We've done it.
I think fundamentally we've done it.
Fundamentally.
Fundamentally, we've fundamentaled it.
Let's ask Jonathan.
I think you guys did amazing.
Will, you were such a good guest on this show.
Great job.
Will.
Thanks, Jonathan.
I'm sorry as he's back already.

Tell everybody where to go to find your other work outside of this.
Yes, thank you.

We have a recent video where my mom reacts to a recent statement of Judge Judy, and I think it's a lot of fun.
So you should check that out.
Also, it's spooky season.
It's October.
So if you want to check out me and my brother's channel, we have a bunch of, a few
spooky videos talking about the horrifying
wokeness of 80s horror movies.
And my brother has been working really hard
on a new project where he reviews
every Mario Kart clone for the PlayStation 1
trying to figure out why they were never able
to complete Pete with Mario Kart.
And then he discovered,
it like devolves into an exploration of the incentives
within capitalism to copy things,
and then it becomes an existential crisis for him.
So please follow Man Boy Nice channel
so you can check out that video when it comes out.
We really, really appreciate it
