Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a CBC Podcast. You all right? Yeah. Okay. When she was missing, my mom and I would always pray that we'd find her before the snow fell. Because if the snow would fall, then she'd be hidden for another season. From CBC Podcasts, I'm David Ridgen, and this is Someone Knows Something, Season 8. We're here.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Oh. She was in there? Yeah. Gonna put some tobacco down. And come in peace and respect and honor. In late 2007, the remains of a young woman from the Kaska Nation were discovered in the Yukon woods. Her name was Angel Karlik. When I was always close with my sister, she turned 18, she tried to get me out of the group home. Her name was Angel Carlec.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Angel had been working at the local youth center and was about to finish high school. She was excited, happy, finally going to graduate. That was her favourite moment. She was just dancing around, I'm going to graduate soon. I love the angel. She looked so gorgeous last time I saw her. But shortly after a series of graduation celebrations, she disappeared. I always just lose the look back and like wish that I didn't let her go alone. She needed to go downtown to get a change of clothes or something, and she was going to come back up for supper.
Starting point is 00:01:50 She never showed up. She never came. Police investigations have gone seemingly nowhere, leaving Angel's case unsolved for over 15 years. Oh, it comes and goes, but I always think about, I want to know what really happened and why. So I travel north to the Yukon to join Angel's loved ones in their search for answers, to try to understand what happened and who was involved.
Starting point is 00:02:21 I might be happy to see this person, and they have this dark secret and I honestly believe that somebody in this community knows and they're just choosing not to say and letting Angel's family, including myself, be tortured. I had an experience during the time Angel was missing and it always sort of haunted me. Whoever did this didn't expect she would ever be found again. That is my belief as well.
Starting point is 00:02:49 So after that was said, I felt like, wow, like I might have some really serious information towards this case. I heard a girl scream and like they're thrashing around. Essentially, it's a pretty big risk to come forward with the information that I have. To this day, I'm scared of him. Like, the look in his eyes was like
Starting point is 00:03:15 there wasn't even a soul there. Hello? Hello? Oh, here we go. I'm David Rittgen, and this is Someone Knows Something Season 8, The Angel Carlet Case. Now, where was I going with this? Can you tell me you didn't do anything to Angel, then?
Starting point is 00:03:36 Yourself? Coming soon. Find us everywhere you get your podcasts, and on the CBC Listen app. Because there's not a day that goes by that you don't think of her.
