Somewhere in the Skies - Australia’s Strangest UFO Cases with Violeta M. Bagia

Episode Date: August 31, 2026

Ryan sits down with Australian author and Somewhere in the Skies contributing writer, Violeta M. Bagia, for a deep dive into some of Australia’s most compelling and overlooked UFO cases. From the st...range 1954 Dandenong saucer sighting and the terrifying 1988 Knowles family encounter to the controversial photographs of Eric Thomason, Violeta shares what she’s uncovered while digging through Australia’s UFO archives. They also explore alien abductions, the stigma still facing experiencers, and whether today’s government-driven UAP conversation has lost some of the mystery and wonder that once defined UFOlogy. Plus, Violeta previews the forgotten Australian cases she’ll be bringing to ANOMACON 2026. Starting point is 00:01:34 While our government's official position is not to speculate on this subject, we can choose to let our minds explore other possibilities. To use our imaginations, for if we consider that astro-scientists agree on one point, that the possibility of life elsewhere is not only quite probable. Some feel if it is there without a doubt. Let us suppose them that these objects are real space vehicles, extraterrestrial origin, and not an illusion of the mind. This is Somewhere in the Skies with Ryan Sprague. Welcome to Somewhere in the Skies. I am your host, Ryan Sprague. And today we have a pretty fun interview for you guys.
Starting point is 00:02:36 For the first time ever on the show, we have Violetta Baggia, who is one of our incredible substack writers over at the Summer in the Sky's substack. She has been a supporter of Summer in the Skies from the very beginning. And we're just so happy and lucky to have her writing for us over there. You can check out all of her articles right now at the Summer on the Sky's substack. Link is in the show notes below. And we talk everything, Australian UFOs in this interview, how Violetta got interested in the topic, what she thinks of the different subtopics of euthology, whether it's sightings, close encounters, abductions, things like that.
Starting point is 00:03:19 We also talk about what she thinks about the modern day. UFO discourse in what's going on in euthology today. So so much to break down with her and we had such a good conversation. Again, links to all of her work can be found in the show notes below. And yeah, she's also going to be speaking at Anamicon, a free virtual conference happening September 12th. And we tease a little bit about what she'll be talking about at Anamacon as well. You can learn all about our free conference at anomicon.com.

But without further ado, let's get to our fascinating interview with Violetta Badgea. Welcome to Somewhere in the Skies,
Starting point is 00:05:03 and Violetta, I cannot believe I am saying this for the very first time ever. You are finally on Somewhere of the Skies. Welcome to the show. Stop it. It's so amazing. I'm still like a little bit fan-girling here, so I'm just going to try and play it down and act really cool.
Starting point is 00:05:20 so. Oh, yeah, yeah, we're both just going to be like, yeah, yeah, whatever. This is my pool's dance. Yeah, yeah. So UFOs, cool. Yeah, and other stuff that flies in the skies, I guess. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is extremely kind of you. You've been a supporter of us here at Summer in the Skies for so long, and I cannot thank you enough for that. But, you know, you're not just a listener of the show or a supporter. Like you are an actual author and an extremely prolific one, which I want to touch on in a little bit with you here.
Starting point is 00:05:56 But not only that, you are like our biggest contributing writer at the Somewhere in the Sky's substack, which I am eternally grateful for. You are pumping out articles left and right over there on our substack. So thank you for that. What we're going to do tonight is break down a few of your articles that you've done. written over there and just get your thoughts on everything going on in the UFO world, all of that stuff. But let's rewind. Let's rewind a little bit. For our viewers, for our listeners, you know, who may not be familiar with who you are, what you do, all that good stuff. Give us like the, I guess, the 100-word bio of Villetta, if you don't like.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Oh, gosh, I hate the word limits on bios. Oh. As a rider, which is, okay, fine, that's great. That's a bit better. As a writer, it's actually one of the bains of our existence is kind of condensing everything into like 100 words. But let's give this a crack. As you can tell from my accent, I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I am an author and I've never been accused of being prolific.
Starting point is 00:07:09 So this is amazing. Thank you. I do. I write crime fiction, science fiction, of course, naturally. young adult and specifically dystopian. So that's kind of my bread and butter. That's where I started. That's where I shall continue.
Starting point is 00:07:27 You know, if everything aligns and the writing gods allow me to keep doing what I do. And yeah, and I'm a contributing writer there for the substack, which is so much fun because I get to literally do what I have grown up obsessing over with my family as a little kid to now, you know, I get to put it out there and not just be, you know, that girl at the back of the classroom that's like jotting down
Starting point is 00:07:49 UFO stories in her book again. Well, let's let's go back there, like to childhood and like, how did? How'd your interest? Yeah, right? Let's regress back to those times. You're a little kid. UFOs. When did that first start?
Starting point is 00:08:07 Like, how did you get interested in the topic? Have you ever had like a personal UFO sighting or anything like that? Like, give us the. origin story of your interest in UFOs. Oh my God. Yes. So the origin story, I have had an UFO experience, which is so exciting because I still think about this to the day. Gosh, I can't even tell you what year it would have been, but I would have been like seven or eight years old, and I lived in Dandenong. So this is, funnily enough, quite nearby to one of the cases we'll be talking about. my mom came rushing into my bedroom must have been like one or two in the morning and she said you need to come and see this
Starting point is 00:08:47 and so you know I ran through our little unit straight to the front window and she pointed to the sky and there was this this glowing orb that was kind of moving quite slowly but deliberately from what from my memory from you know right to left and the orb itself was maybe orange kind of whiteish but like it wasn't It wasn't a plane. It wasn't fast. It wasn't a spotlight on a helicopter. You know, for the listeners who are familiar with the southeast of Victoria and Dandenong, you will know that police choppers fly around a lot. So even as a child, I was quite used to what they looked like. And it definitely wasn't that. And so that sparked this curiosity, you know, the next day at school. All the kids were kind of asking the same thing. Like, did you see what it was? Has anybody, like, what is that?
Starting point is 00:09:39 you know, nobody knew anything. And I guess, you know, what would you know when you're seven or eight years old? I certainly wasn't watching movies about aliens at that age. So I didn't really have anything to, you know, compare it to really to say, hey, look like, you know, whatever it was from that movie. And so, yeah, that sparked my interest. And for the coming years, I'd ask my dad little questions. Like, do you believe in anything else that's flying out there? What do you think it could have been? and lo and behold, my dad was a massive, massive, massive believer. And so it was born from there. The obsession was born.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Interesting. Had he personally had an experience or anything like that? No. No. Nothing that he has ever mentioned. He's always of the, he's like, why does everyone else get to see things that I never do? I'm still sitting here waiting.
Starting point is 00:10:34 And, you know, maybe someday it will happen for him as well. But yeah, I just remember this profound kind of feeling of, you know, being so, so small in the grand scheme of things. And being able to really articulate that in like a seven or eight year old brain was just wild, which in and of itself was, I think, just extraordinary. Yeah, absolutely. Now, I would imagine, like, that sighting, which is incredible, by the way, thank you for sharing that. would that eventually kind of spark your imagination to write? Now, you mentioned you do have some of your series that you write with your books have to do with sci-fi and things like that.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Like, did you ever find that your eventual interest in UFOs and aliens and life out there? Would that bleed into, you know, your eventual inspiration to write sci-fi? I think, yes, in a big way, not necessarily. that I had found myself wanting to write about aliens or, you know, anything kind of interdimensional. Not really until quite recently did I start writing about, you know, interdimensional beings as part of my narrative. But it definitely played into what, I guess, kind of powers people possessed and that it wasn't of this world and that perhaps it was something that transcended from another time or
Starting point is 00:12:00 another dimension or perhaps even another planet. And it was just that kind of exploration, I guess, you know, into our psyche and what everything else beyond really could be. And I think it definitely sparked an interest in the type of movies that I found myself drawn to. So obviously, you're your Spielberg's, which, you know, we can't, we can't go past anything that Spielberg's written, of course. And it's just constantly being giving me that kind of, you know, but what else is out there? What else can we explore here? And like I said, it's not necessarily that I'm writing about aliens or alien characters or life forms, but it's, it's that what's, what else is out there, what's beyond? Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, I know. I mean, I find myself wondering that every day.
Starting point is 00:12:54 It's when I first got involved in the UFO topic, like, as you know, I was young too. I was 12 when I had my sighting and then I started reading about aliens and then that's all I thought about. Aliens, UFOs, these are connected. It's as you get deeper into the literature and into the research that you realize, I don't think we're just dealing with like an extraterrestrial intelligence too. So yeah, yeah, yeah. It's so much more than that. So much more you know, the less you know, right?
Starting point is 00:13:25 Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. I've always loved and really resonated with that. quote and I think I need to have it printed out somewhere in my office. Yeah, absolutely. Well, let's shout out your books before we go any further. Like, what are the different series that you do? And yeah, if anyone's interested, I can see a few of them in your background here. If you guys are watching on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, tell us a little about them, if you don't mind. Sure. So for the readers who prefer the more young adult kind of space, These are about interdimensional beings, actually. So this is great. So this is the Reaper's Descent. So the Sioran Chronicles is the trilogy, which is actually going to be four books now.
Starting point is 00:14:11 So I signed the fourth book deal to go into addition with that because I just couldn't stop writing. So I'm really sorry, Volpine Press, but it had to be done. So really, really thankful that they continued and allowed me to do that. So that is about good forces and evil forces, both. converging on planet Earth from beyond. So that's your YA kind of space. And then we've got the Heart of Darkness series. So Ace of Heart and King of Heart are currently out.
Starting point is 00:14:40 The third, fourth, and fifth books will be coming out later this year and in the coming years. So this one is, again, it's the beyond, right? They're not necessarily alien beings or creatures, but they're made of star dust. We see people with telekinetic abilities and abilities that transatlantic abilities that transcend our own on earth and all of that power comes from the cosmos and beyond. And so we've got people that work amongst us in the government, hidden behind official channels. So nobody knows who they are.
Starting point is 00:15:13 I guess the closest likeness, if anybody likes comparisons, because I know I always need a point of reference to see if I'm going to enjoy something. So for me, it's, you know, think of X-Men meets James Bond. and that's probably the closest mashup you're going to get. Nice. I love that. But yeah, so if you're into that kind of sci-fi, then I'm your gal. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:15:37 There you go, guys. If you get your young adult in the family, you got one. And for more of the adults, you've got the other one. I love that. Exactly. I love that. Is that it? Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:15:47 That's the two serious. No, no, no. I've got this little purple fellow up here. That's a coming-of-age novel. So that's a bit of nostalgia for my millennia. annual fans. So that's basically my life story in a fictionalized autobiography, I guess, is the official genre. So that basically entails my migration from war-torn Yugoslavia into Germany, leaving my dad behind in the war, coming to Australia and settling in here and kind of finding my
Starting point is 00:16:18 feet. And, you know, I guess it's that kind of juxtaposition of, well, I left my home over there, but this doesn't really feel like home either because, you know, it's like this weird, you're torn between two places. So it's just how that's kind of impacted growing up and living life as this person who's somewhat displaced, but not at the same time. So it's a really interesting dive down that kind of scope. I love that. I feel like, you know, everyone at some point in their life will feel almost like an alien in many ways.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Now, you know, in terms of the circumstances in which you've, your journey, personally, it's much more real. But I feel like that would resonate with a lot of people for many different reasons. So that's cool. Cool. Yeah. So it's a good little trip if you want to have some memories of MySpace and all the good old. It is. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:17:18 I'm so excited. Are you excited? I'm so excited to have my top five songs. songs or bands or whatever it was. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, get back into coding, your website, amazing. Oh, God, please no. Please don't make me do that.
Starting point is 00:17:32 But yeah, I'm excited. MySpace is coming back for sure. Yeah, it's going to be good. Cool. Well, again, yeah, guys, check out. We'll have links to all of your books in the show notes. So be sure to check those out, guys. But let's get to kind of the core of the conversation.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Like I said, we've been talking. you know, for a few years now on possibly working together on something, whether it's, you know, writing wise or podcasting wise. And, you know, I reached out and said, hey, look, I started a substack. I'd love to have, like, contributing writers come in and write about whatever they want, the paranormal, UFOs, stuff like that. Because I just, I don't have time to do a lot of that stuff when I'm doing the podcast and, you know, hunting ghosts in Canada and all these other.
Starting point is 00:18:22 things. And you were so gracious to be like, I'd love to give it a try. And you hit the ground running. I think you've got something like almost 10 articles up over at the substack already, which is awesome. And I thought it'd be cool to go through three of those tonight. Yes. And we're going to go kind of in chronological order. And most, if not all of these, are in Australia, if I'm correct, right? Yes. Again, like we've had Grant Lavock, another Australian researcher on the show in the past, to talk about Westall and things like that, kind of the big cases we know about. But these cases that you've been able to dig up are much more obscure in not only Australian, UFO history, but UFO history overall. So I thought that would be pretty cool to kind of highlight some of these ones because we don't really think about that in the West.
Starting point is 00:19:22 We're like, you know, we got the Roswell and Area 51 and all that stuff. But you guys have the cool stuff. See, but that's the thing. That's the thing. I think these cases are so much cooler than a lot of the other ones out there. So, yeah, I thought, let's highlight some of the articles that you've written. And that really starts with the 1954, Dan de Dong citing. I'm saying that wrong, aren't I?
Starting point is 00:19:51 It's so fine. It's Dandenong. Dan, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It's my hometown, right? You have to get it right. And I have to do it. You have to get it right. It's my hometown. Come on. I know, I know. Well, yeah, tell us about this case back in 54. Was this something you were familiar with before writing about it? And yeah, I guess give us the rundown of what this case entailed.
Starting point is 00:20:16 So firstly, no, I was not familiar with this at all. And I think that's why I fell in love with, look, my idea when coming on to the subsection, I think we spoke about this briefly. I kind of mentioned, look, I want to try and focus as much as possible on the Australian side of things. Just because, you know, I'm here. I'm able to, you know, be boots on ground, do the research, make the phone calls. And it's been great. I've called libraries.
Starting point is 00:20:42 I've called newspaper stations. Had them dig up files from me from like 40, 50 years ago. and I can just hear that huff on the other line when, you know, it's me again. And they're like, oh, what decade are we looking at now? And, you know, but, you know, everyone's been so gracious with their time and helping me out. But this case specifically, so this is the Dandenong's saucer siding of 1954, as you mentioned. The crux of it was that two teen girls, so I mistake their ages here, but there were early teens. So between 13 and 16, um,
Starting point is 00:21:17 kind of late heading home from school or shopping, whatever it might have been. And one of the girls had actually spotted an object in the sky that she described as the silver cylindrical object. She had run to the payphone, the nearest payphone, called her friend. That's the only number she had memorized. Her friend, dad, the whole lot, came and collected her, went home. They spoke about this wild incident that they had. Basically, everything on them had magnetized their wristwatches, the belt buckles on their clothing, on their backpacks.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Everything had magnetized. The watches had stopped working. At one point, one of the girls had feared for her life and had been begging her parents to move away from Dandenong into another suburb because they were so afraid that the UFO would come after them. They had no idea and no kind of point of reference. like, you know, like I was saying as a young child, I wasn't really watching movies about these sorts of things to have a point of reference and say that's what I've seen. So same as these poor girls, you know, they would have been so terrified seeing this unknown thing hovering above them, seemingly following them, and no explanation for it. And I guess worse than that is that, you know, the police detectives that came to sort of investigate or, you know, they didn't really take them seriously as, you know, most sadly don't. and they were left with all these unanswered questions, which, you know, as a child, it must be terrifying and not wanting to stay in your home.
Starting point is 00:22:53 I couldn't imagine anything more awful than that. This sticks out to me mostly because you were a kid when you had your sighting. I was a kid when I had my sighting. I had the luxury of having my father there with me to witness this. So, like, I knew I hadn't imagined it. I knew I hadn't made it up. Someone else saw it. But for these girls, it's like, yeah, who's going to believe them?
Starting point is 00:23:23 You know, kids have such wild imaginations. And at that age, like young teens, like you're either the most isolated person in the world. You don't want anything to do with the world or you want all the attention in the world. So I would imagine that would play into it too when the police are like, really? like are you just trying to like get attention with this thing or or whatnot um but again we got to look at the time 1954 it's not like yeah instagram was around TikTok was around and like this would make you famous or something it would probably do the opposite that's true but also now that you know you kind of drew attention to the time period it did actually just you know like i clocked the fact that it was such a heavy
Starting point is 00:24:08 UFO flap time in Australia, the 50 specifically. So, you know, it is interesting that, so I'll just rewind for a second, but the way that I was finding all of these cases was obviously your government has been releasing all of these unclassified documents, and part of that has obviously filtered into Australian documents that are part of it as well. And I think earlier I was watching your interview about one of the cases on Channel 7 here in Australia, which was, you know, from five years ago, and you were mentioning about our government also having released some documents. And funnily enough, it actually happened to overlap what I was looking for. And that was part of the National Australian
Starting point is 00:24:53 Archives. And they were documents released by the Royal Australian Air Force. So a lot of these had actually, you know, collated bits of data from either the witnesses or, you know, other people who had interviewed the witnesses or in a few of these cases, especially this Dandenong source of citing, there was, you know, there were article clips as well, which was really interesting to find because, firstly, it's so long ago that, like I said, when I rang a few of these places, they were quite like, oh, yes, it's you again. What can we do for you now? But the thing is, they were reported, right? People had documented this. They'd written articles about it. So it wasn't just random, you know, conjecture or somebody that posted something on
Starting point is 00:25:39 Instagram or YouTube or whatever it was. It was actually documented on official channels. And I think that's just what makes these so much more compelling and that they haven't got that kind of, you know, I guess in for me like your Westall cases, for example. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. I think you're right in terms of like the credibility of these cases that you've dug up for sure. I want to stay with this one for a moment because there's so much physical evidence in terms of what the girls reported having happened, whether it was like elevated Geiger counter readings that were discovered. There were the magnetized objects, the drained batteries. We just had a gentleman named Joshua Cutchin on the show who talked about this, where vehicles were stored. stopped by UFOs.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Like the engines would die. The car electricity or the radios would get down and things like that. And this happens all over the place. I mean, it's literally in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Yeah, and Betty and Barney Hill, their car had that haywire on approach. Yeah, it's definitely one of those things that's almost in a textbook, right? Right. Well, that's what I wanted to ask you.
Starting point is 00:26:58 What do you make of all of that when it comes to? this close encounter, as it were. Do you think, what do you think is causing these things when it comes to the 1954 case? Look, I think, I guess the answer here is a bit twofold, because I look at, you know, you mentioned on the top that we kind of, you know, wanted to look at anything that's, you know, not just your foes in the substack, but also the paranormal. And that obviously entails, you know, the spiritual world and ghost sightings and things like that. And, and things like that. And taking that kind of electrical interference and magnetization, you know, to the other, to the others extreme, I guess, of ghost, it's also textbook there.
Starting point is 00:27:41 And I think, you know, there it's energy. They're drawing energy from objects or from devices or from power in order to manifest themselves. You know, why couldn't that be the case for this? You know, not necessarily that they need the power, but maybe they are overloading the system. or the way that they operate maybe, you know, whatever I've got. No, no physics, no science, no mechanical background whatsoever. But, you know, from what I do know and understand, there is obviously different mechanics at play in the way that we understand
Starting point is 00:28:19 extraterrestrial vehicles to operate, right? You know, if we look at anything that, you know, Bob Lazar was working on, you know, everything he spoke about, there were different propulsion technologies. There were different ways that these vehicles worked and operated. So what's to say that whatever is propelling them isn't interfering with our magnetic system or our electromagnetic fields? So it's obviously a very complex question and answer.
Starting point is 00:28:53 So I guess, you know, it just leaves it to the place of like, who knows? Who knows why they're doing it? There's really no reason. Right. Well, and then the whole idea of like happenstance, like they might not be meaning to shut down the car or stop an engine malfunction. It's just interference. Yeah, yeah. It's just happening.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Yeah. That's interesting. I want to move to the next case because I do think it's much more aggressive and obvious that whatever did this to this family we're going to talk about. meant to do this in my personal opinion. This case is, this one's near and dear to my heart. As you mentioned, I had the incredible opportunity to talk about this case on 7 News in Australia. Why they chose me, Bealetta, I still have no idea.
Starting point is 00:29:48 I just got a random email one day. They're like, hey, you want to come talk about UFOs? I'm like, yeah, totally. But I started like digging through my memory banks of like Australia, UFOs. Okay. I got to find at least one or two cases to talk about. So it sounds like I know what I'm talking about. Which you do?
Starting point is 00:30:06 Would you do? I try. I try. And this one, the 1988 Nolabor UFO encounter with the Nolz family is crazy. So I'll let you kind of set this one up. Yeah, run us through what happened in 1988. So we're moving up a couple decades. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:26 And whatever is physically happening. happening with a close encounter is getting much more scary and aggressive. So I'll let you take it from there. Starting point is 00:31:47 And thank you for supporting independent content. And I hope you'll continue to join me somewhere in the skies. Yeah, look, not just scary and aggressive, but with, intent, right? They whatever happened here happened with the intent to cause either panic, fear or both. So this is the one and only the Faye Nolz encounter. So Faye Noles was driving down. I believe it's Iyer Highway, EY, R-E, down with her three sons who were at this stage, late teens, early 20s. So everyone had enough cognition in the car to understand what was happening, you know, not just the spotlight from a helicopter or random debris flying off the road. But basically they saw what they described as an egg-shaped object that hovered above them,
Starting point is 00:32:44 appeared above them, suction onto the top of their car as they were driving, lifted the car off the ground and then dropped it with such force that the tires erupted, rushing out of the car in sheer panic, Faye and her kids hid behind bushes and bolshe's and boulders, whatever they could find until this thing was gone. Once it was finally gone, they went back to the car. They reported that same sort of sensation of feeling like something in the air had been either magnetized or changed. There was debris on the roof.
Starting point is 00:33:18 There was a giant dint in the roof from where this thing had landed and then suctioned up. Like I said, the tire had been blown out. And, you know, more than that, they felt like they had lost some time during this encounter, which I found incredibly compelling. So once they had finally, you know, managed to get themselves loaded back into the car and drive off in a panic, they went to the nearest police station where they spoke to, if I'm not mistaken, a detective Jim Fennell. And he went out and investigated the car. And there was a great interview of, you know, Faye with her three sons on this car.
Starting point is 00:33:57 And you can see the tire. You can see it being blown out. and you can see this dent in the roof. And the fact that it was reported so heavily and written about is, is beyond compelling to me. And I guess listening to the way they speak about this, you can tell that there is so much genuine fear and concern coming from them that it doesn't, at least to me, never felt like it was something that was made up,
Starting point is 00:34:24 you know, for attention, if you will. Absolutely. There's several interviews online that you can watch the family talk about this. And man, they look scared out of their wits about what it happened and alarmed and concerned and afraid it could happen again. Or why were they targeted? Things like that. You know, there's, and I want to ask you about the skeptical side of this case too in a second, but in terms of that evidence, what is?
Starting point is 00:34:58 is some of the most compelling evidence for you that this was definitely not something like conventional. This is not like a hell of time. No earthly explanation. Yeah. Like what really stood out to you? There's so much. So much. But for me, no brain it has to be the roof dent because you can explain away potential magnetization, right? I mean, the earth is made of magnetic fields. All sorts of things shift and change. Who knows? Right. You see birds and whales. and dolphins lose coordination all the time because things are shifting in the poles and the magnetic fields. So that, okay, I can potentially explain that away. The tire as well, it could have been anything. It could have just been an old tire and it blew. It happens all the time. But that dent in the
Starting point is 00:35:46 roof, even so we have a lot of kangaroos that run out in front of the car and let me tell you, if you hit a rue when you're driving at 100 plus kilometers an hour, it will take your car apart, right but it will hit your bonnet first it will hit the front bumper first it wouldn't just leave a dint in your in your roof and not once did any of the occupants of that car say that they had seen something in front of them that they had to avoid or swerve off it was on top of them and that to me is just mind-blowing because you know they never once said oh it was a wombat it was a kangaroo even a bird whatever right there was nothing it was literally there was this object, landed on top, and it left this giant dint.
Starting point is 00:36:30 So beyond that, I couldn't even begin to conjure up things that could explain that a way. Right. Maybe, like, space junk, you know, maybe. Maybe, yeah, it's definitely something from above, which I think is most important. And like you said, even if it was like a kangaroo, that thing would have had to have hopped on top of the car. And they would have seen it.
Starting point is 00:36:56 They would have seen it. Exactly. So crazy. Yeah, yeah. That's definitely one of the bigger ones for me, too. Skeptical side. Now, some of the interviews that I watched with this family, I felt so bad for them because, A, either the reporter wasn't taking them seriously or they were just barraging this family with like, what if it was this? What if it was this? what like almost trying to catch them in lies which they couldn't and one of the poor kids one of the sons he couldn't even get the words out he was still so traumatized by the event and clearly nervous to talk about it so again
Starting point is 00:37:37 maybe I'll link to some of those interviews in the show notes guys because they're definitely worth watching for sure but what do you think of some of these possible explanations I mean they said everything from like you know, the family was exhausted from driving or it was atmospheric events or train lights were another possibility that they had mentioned. Like, do any of these things? Could they explain some, if not all, of what happened to this family? What do you think? Look, it was clearly swamp gas.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Like, clearly. Clearly, duh. Like, why don't you panic? insects. Like, what do you mean? No, I think the more I've read into this, the more of their interviews that I watched, the more that I... So I even took a deep dive on Reddit, right? So I went into the deep dive of the Reddit. Sub-reddit, there was so much.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Brave, you're a brave person. Yeah. Yes, yes. I did emerge, so this is okay. You are not speaking to a Spectre. It's really me. it was firstly heartbreaking because a lot of a lot of the commentary around the way that the family interviewed, as you said, a lot of fun was poked at that, either because potentially they didn't
Starting point is 00:39:00 seem literate enough to be able to explain what they had seen, or, you know, they were either just making it up. So there was a lot of ridicule on that side of things, which you know, none of these things make a family or a witness or an experience or a liar in my eyes because trauma and shock, it does crazy things to the human body and to the brain. So the fact that, like you said, one of the sons, if he couldn't even get his words out, it's not because he couldn't tell them what happened because he was illiterate or because, you know, he was lying. It's because the kid was in shock. He had no idea. He just couldn't process it yet. And, you know, fortunately, there were a lot of people in the Reddit kind of threads that came to the family's support and, you know, back them and obviously covered off a lot of these bases.
Starting point is 00:39:52 But the one thing that really stood out is that their story had never changed, not once, from, you know, from day dot, from when they spoke to, you know, Jim Fennell, the detective, to when they spoke on their first interview and their subsequent interviews. it always remained the same and the one constant was that level of fear that came across. And again, not once did they mention seeing a kangaroo just randomly jump out in front of them or, you know, I've had kangaroos jump out in front of me driving on these types of roads at night. And it's terrifying. It is horrific, but you can see it and you know what it is. Not once would I have been like, oh, was that a UFO that I almost crashed into? Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:40:38 Like it's, it just seems ludicrous that these are even things that people try to conjure up to say, oh, no, this is what you saw, isn't it? This is definitely what you experienced, right? Yeah. Almost putting words into their mouths. And I, I guess, you know, kudos to them for sticking to their story all the way through because, you know, I do believe it. I believe what they saw and what they experienced is not explainable away by earthly, you know,
Starting point is 00:41:06 explanations. It just isn't. Yeah, agreed, agreed. This wasn't a UFO. This is not an unidentified flying roo as it was. Right. Exactly. Yeah, yeah. Correct me if I'm wrong in researching this case, I believe there were other UFO sightings in this region at the time, right? That was another big thing that kind of bolstered the credibility, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there were two. So one was a truck drive. that was a little further along on either the same highway or kind of parallel. So he had also spotted something quite similar and had reported it either the next day or a couple of days later. And also a tuna trawler that was like out in the ocean. They had spotted lights in the sky.
Starting point is 00:41:58 So they hadn't experienced anything necessarily that had impacted the trawler or anything like that, but they saw unexplainable lights. And from what I understand, they did, radio back to land to sort of ask like what is that is it something we should be concerned with and there were no reports of anything kind of on radar that they should have been aware of. So yeah, so that definitely, you know, coupled with what Faye and her sons had reported, it bolsters that incredibility in so much. So I think when you look at it, you know, compounded with this kind of information, it's not just a standalone report of, you know, one family driving on a lonely highway having, you know, a hallucination because they're tired.
Starting point is 00:42:45 Absolutely. Absolutely. Again, still one of my favorite cases, not just in Australia, but like the world. It's, oh, man, I can't even imagine. You have car contact, right? It's car contact and it's, you know, trace evidence that's less behind, yeah? Yeah. Missing time.
Starting point is 00:43:03 Yeah, it's, you know, the trifecta. It's the dream of any. UFO researcher. So why people would try to, I guess you know, debunking would be the wrong word, but why people are skeptical, I understand. We fear that, which we don't know.
Starting point is 00:43:19 But debunking it, come on, come on. So, yeah, I love it. I love it. Cool. Well, let's move forward in time, 1993. This happened in Southern Australia to a gentleman named Eric Thomason.
Starting point is 00:43:36 Tell us about, about this beach case? This one was pretty interesting. So this one is interesting and it's contentious. So let's start with that because, you know, set your expectations, either high or low, depending on we're going to learn a lesson here tonight. Yes, yes. So this one's interesting. Mr. Thomason decided that one day, he would go out and photograph the sunset. He had no camera, no camera experience, nothing at all that would indicate at all that this is something that he does. But, you know, kudos to the man who wanted a new hobby. So he borrowed a fairly cheap camera from his son and set out on his adventure. So his mission was to go up to this old, I'm just,
Starting point is 00:44:23 I've got my notes here because I don't want to get the area wrong, but it was an old mine at Maslin Quarry. So basically he went up to a cliff face to try and get this amazing sunset. The weather was terrible, so that was no dice. He left, started walking back down to this quarry. And on his way, around to this other cliff face, he saw something in the sky. And he took a photo of it. So in his words, he had watched this object for several minutes, went home and had the
Starting point is 00:44:55 photos developed. The photos themselves are incredibly clear and compelling, like as if you were standing right in front of me, which is, it's a holy grail, right? This is what every euphologist, researcher, photographer, period, is looking for. So he hit the jackpot with this. But the funny thing is that this looks remarkably similar to a vent that can be found on any type of, you know, personal boat, basically. So it's an interesting one. it's an interesting one. It's identical, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:45:28 I'm not going to lie when I did dig into this one. And the reason that I wrote it and chose it is because it is so contentious, because there is so much belief for Eric from his fan base and people around the world. But then there's also the very healthy skeptics who are like, oh, it's, it's clearly a boat bent like. Well, the future Ryan is going to put some of these images up on the screen for you guys, right here so you can actually see what the Alyssa is talking about. That's the problem with UFO
Starting point is 00:46:01 photos. We want the smoking gun. We want the clear photo because we're used to these blobs and these dots and these blurry images. And then when we get the clear photo, we're like fake. That's fake. That's totally fake. So there's no winning in any of this, right? When it comes to evidence?
Starting point is 00:46:20 Look, and look, I'm not going to be one of those people that says, no, No, no, it's all fake. It could be real. It could be real. He could have literally just captured the greatest photo of all time, probably forever, you know. But when you dig past it a little more, there are some shots that do look like there's potentially string or wire or something. But again, it remains to be whatever you want to believe, I guess. And that's why I like. I like it as a case because it does come from a man who, you know, he's not a UFO believer. He doesn't do
Starting point is 00:46:58 anything like this. He didn't go out there searching for this. And, you know, this is just what he happened to capture. And I think that's, like, that speaks. That speaks volumes for, you know, what he went out there to do. It was to photograph a sunset and then a quarry. It wasn't to try and capture the paranormal or aliens or a UFO. From what I understand, it doesn't even look like He was interested in that. You know, he was just an elderly gentleman who wanted a new hobby and that's what he decided to do. But yes, when you do kind of unpack the very good quality of the photo,
Starting point is 00:47:32 especially for 1993 and the clarity of how close it is, you know, he basically felt water coming off it as it went over him, you know. So, yeah, I don't know. It remains to be seen. It's an interesting one. Let me just say, I want to believe. I want to believe. Do I?
Starting point is 00:47:53 I don't know. I don't know. Okay. I'm with you on that one. Well, I want to believe is the perfect way of looking at this. Because it strikingly mirrors like the Billy Meyer stuff. Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:48:08 For those of you who don't know, the famous I want to believe, poster from the X-Files, is a Billy Meyer model. It is a fake. It is a hoax. It is not a real UFO. I know there's going to be a contingency of our listeners who beg to differ.
Starting point is 00:48:24 And that's fine, guys. There's room for everyone to have that debate. Yes, healthy skepticism. We want everyone. We want everyone. We want everyone. But yeah, this does remind me of that where, like, you do wonder if Billy Meyer ever actually had authentic UFO encounters.
Starting point is 00:48:41 And same with this guy, you know? Like, was this something where they did have an experience, but then they wanted to kind of. up the ante as it were and like and then that's where the exaggeration comes in that's where the faked photos start to come in like there's no i think one answer to any of those things right i think that's kind of the lesson yeah yeah but you know that's nevertheless it's such an interesting case and really really cool photos whether whether they're real or not they look amazing like he set out to get some cool shots and he did that.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Yep. I have no doubt they're going to end up somewhere on my back wall at some point. Oh, that's for sure. Yeah. Yeah. It's happening. Well, awesome. These are three super compelling cases, Bealetta, for many different reasons. We really only scratch the surface, guys. So again, we're going to link to the articles in the show notes, whether you're just listening. If you're watching on YouTube. We will be putting up some images from the articles as well, but go read them because there's so much more to these. And like we said, you did deep research on these. And there's many more over there as well for you guys to read. But yeah, I guess to kind of move away from these specific cases in Australia, I'm always curious someone who's not like from
Starting point is 00:50:11 the States or North America or even Europe. What are some of your favorite international cases? Like, what are the cases you really hang your hat on or that really, like, kind of keep you wondering about what's going on in our skies? Are there any, do you have any favorites? Yes, yes, yes, yes. One that has, or it's always obviously Roswell. Roswell is just, you know, the cornerstone of any little little boy or girl researching UFOs. But beyond Roswell, I think for me, and I don't know what the official name for it is or terminology,
Starting point is 00:50:49 but, you know, the big battle Los Angeles situation where everyone was, yeah, everyone was shooting up at the sky. That to me, I can't, I can't go past that to me. That's the most compelling, you know, jaw-dropping evidence of anything ever. You know, and I know there's been so many amazing stories, you know, researchers debunking it, giving more, you know, real world explanations. But it has captured my imagination to a point where, like, I don't care. It could be the most explained away thing and it will never not be aliens to me. So it's probably that case.
Starting point is 00:51:32 That's a good one, a really good one. Yeah, 1950, no, 40 something. gosh, it's escaping me. I should know. Yeah, like I said, I don't even know it's official name, but I just have the visuals in my head. The visual. Yeah, I've got it too. I've got it too. Someone will correct us in the comments or a hundred people will right now. Yeah. Yeah. Because that's what YouTube is for. That's it. That's it. So, okay, that's a UFO sighting, but I want to get your thoughts on abductions. Now, this was huge in the 80s, the 90s. I mean, going back, let's say, 50-60s, too. You got Betty and Barney-Hale.
Starting point is 00:52:12 We're kind of the beginning of it and whatnot. What do you think of the alien abduction phenomenon? Are there different theories you might have on that? And why do you think we don't hear about it as much anymore? We don't really hear about abductions as much. So, yeah, big sweeping question for you there. Well, I'll start with the one that I guess has terrified me to the point of like literally I cannot sleep without this crossing my mind at least once,
Starting point is 00:52:42 once a week. And it's Travis Walton. That to me is probably something that has been nightmare fuel my entire life. From the moment I learned about it to this day, even as a grown woman, it still scares me so much, you know, just thinking about like the kind of fear that he would have felt and the confusion and, you know, just all this trying to, like live a normal life after the fact.
Starting point is 00:53:11 I think that that's kind of the thing that's really scary because people speak about, you know, the event itself and then potentially going through regression to like understand what happened to them and remember it. But then it's the aftermath of trying to reintegrate back into life after having this, you know, life altering, seismic changing thing happened to you.
Starting point is 00:53:34 And how do you even do that? How do you go back to life? So I think why do we not hear about it anymore? I think the answer is quite simple. I think people are probably too terrified because of ridicule because it is so much, you know, we have history to teach us. It's like people have spoken out about this and their lives have been changed probably for the worse.
Starting point is 00:54:01 They might have lost jobs. They might have, you know, been ridiculed on national TV. I know you made a comment about this once, Ryan. You know, you absolutely hate when news channels and stations do a story and then they overlay it with X-Files music. So it's like we clearly still just don't take it seriously. And in today's day and age where, you know, everything is documented and on social media,
Starting point is 00:54:25 basically you can't even get a job without applying through a form of social media, which is LinkedIn these days, right? Why would you risk your career and your social image? to tell somebody you've been abducted by Little Greatman. I wouldn't. You know, I write, I write young adult books and I do talks at high schools about, you know, mental health and think, I'm not, there's no way. I just wouldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:54:53 You know, even if it was something that had so profoundly changed, I just couldn't do it because I have to think about feeding my family and making money. And sadly, that will most likely, if not definitely, raised that side of things for me. So I think that for most people is probably the drawing card that says, no, I'm just not going to report it. That is a good point. You know, I, and yeah, it's a conversation starter for sure. But then after that, it's like, do we really want to take the risk of hiring? I'll take this as an example. You know, back in my acting days when I did theater. I was living in New York City and I was in a musical of American Idol and it was supposed to be this big thing.
Starting point is 00:55:43 You know, it was going to take Broadway by storm and we were starting off Broadway. We did like 50 preview performances of this show. And then we did our opening night and then we closed because the reviews were so bad. And I will be the first to say, the show was terrible. Absolutely terrible. But, you know, I had it on my resume. So every time I went to an audition for another show, they would see Idol the musical on there and be like, oh my God, is that that show that closed after opening night? And like, I'd start getting into like, yeah, you know,
Starting point is 00:56:26 this is what happened and this is blah. And it would start the conversation. but then I'm sure when I left the room, these people are like, wait, that guy was in a show that is considered one of the worst shows of all time. Why would we hire him? So it makes sense. I kind of relate that back to like, yeah, the alien abduction story might be interesting. But when it gets down to it, do we trust this person? Like, are they going to be a teacher?
Starting point is 00:56:54 Do we trust them with like students after they said that they were brought to Zeta reticuli and experiment that? on like and yeah like and I think you know the thing is let's let's take this to another level it depends on the type of career you have because as somebody who is like I said I go to schools and I speak about mental health for young people and you know being aware of you know predators and whatnot right for me absolutely not there is no way I could ever be like you know this happened and I was taken to this planet and, you know, so when, when do I start? There's no way, right? But if I'm like, hey, you know, this happened, but my, the only thing I do is I write cool science fiction books, they'll be like, yeah, come on over. Like use some of that, you know, planet experience you've got
Starting point is 00:57:45 and write us something new, right? Right. So it really depends on the career that you're in. And I think, sadly, you know, in an ideal world, it shouldn't matter, but it's not an ideal world. And it does matter and we have to be realists when it comes to how much of this we put out there because fundamentally we all have mouths to feed we're all breadwinners to some degree you know and I think I think sadly a lot of people potentially even if I don't think experiences you know have stopped happening I don't think people are stopped being abducted or taken away because you take any deep dive into any Reddit thread, you know, and there are people who are talking about this still to this day. But I think we are just a little bit more social media savvy now.
Starting point is 00:58:31 And it's not like the 40s or the 50s where, you know, you just go to your local station like Betty and Barney Hill or, you know, even Travis Walton and just say, you know, this happened. Right. We have a platform, but that platform can also be the absolute downfall of us. So it's, I think that's why. That's my honest hand on heart answer to that. Yeah, I like that. And then just to kind of cap this off, there's the vice versa too.
Starting point is 00:59:00 You look at Whitley Streber, who was a horror writer prior to coming out as an alien abductee. And because of that baggage of being a fictional writer, a horror writer, when he came out with his book comedian, everyone was like, come on, man. Clearly is just like... Yeah. That's just a way to sell the book. So like there's that catch two as well. Always. There always is. Yeah, it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:59:29 And if you guys are just listening, Violetta has the coolest mug ever of Jay and Le Hynick. Is that available somewhere? Like, can we get that? Yeah. So my sister makes these actually. So shout out to Vanessa Mateovic. She has like the coolest little store.
Starting point is 00:59:46 And I believe your face isn't a lot of things. too, right? That is extremely sweet. So, you know, like I can't show you the back of my laptop, but it has your face on it from somewhere in the skies like years ago. Yeah, no, my sister does a lot of them on her little shop, like a lot of really cool speculative fiction type things, you know, all her like original art as well.
Starting point is 01:00:10 So, yeah, big, big supporters. Shout out. Yeah, we'll put a link as well for sure. Yeah, yeah. You probably didn't think that was going to happen during this interview. No. But it just happened. But it just happened.
Starting point is 01:00:24 You know me a movie ticket, Vanessa? Yes, there you go. Okay, so UFOs. Do you dive into anything else in your research? Do you like the paranormal or anything? Like, I'm recently getting much more into ghosts in the afterlife and consciousness and stuff like that. But, like, is there anything else that kind of, I guess, strikes their curiosity when it comes to all this anomalous stuff.
Starting point is 01:00:52 Yes, big, huge yes, but also I haven't written anything about it yet. And the reason is I want to still, I still feel I have left so much untouched in the UFO space in Australia. I am just, you know, I'm just kind of peeling back the layers slowly as I get through this National Archives of Australia document. You know, there's 210 pages. I've uncovered another one, which is 195 pages. So I've been slowly scouring, you know, a lot of it, like 90% of it isn't great.
Starting point is 01:01:27 You know, it's just a lot of hearsay conjecture, like one or two lines from somebody who saw something. And then the next line literally says that that was Venus that you saw. So, you know, there's a lot of that. So it's just, you know, slow, slow process going through bit by bit, trying to uncover all the interesting stories. But I think, you know, for me, and I think I might have mentioned this in a few of the comments over on Substack is that I feel like I have this duty to these people and these forgotten cases and the people that these cases left behind to bring them to the light because, you know, like I'll be speaking about Frederick Valentich on over at Anomicon, which is really exciting. another one of my favorite cases, but, you know, my heart hurts for his family, his partner, his dad, who vehemently, you know, deny that, you know, he hoaxed anything or, you know,
Starting point is 01:02:24 that he succumbed to instrument failure because, you know, he was a talented pilot. He knew what he was doing. And all these unanswered questions, you know, they must hurt so much to their families who are left behind. And these cases, they've just been condemned to, you know, the cobwebs and the shadows of all these big files that, you know, haven't seen the light of day for 50, 60, 70 years. So I feel like I have this personal duty now to keep going until I find as many as I can and write about them. And hopefully, you know, hopefully somebody out there reads them and says, hey, I know something about this or I've seen something about this. And maybe somehow through this amazing interconnected web of social media, somebody gets
Starting point is 01:03:12 closure somewhere. So yeah, that's where I'm at with those. I love that. I love that. Yeah. I mean, you've only scratched the surface. So I know you've got a ways to go with that. And yeah, you never know. When it comes to the podcast, I'm almost 500 something episodes in. And it still never dawns on me that like once I put it out there, anyone in the world can listen. And that's terrifying in a way. I'm like, oh my God. Like, I, forget about that sometimes. Sometimes I feel like I'm just like submitting it to some phantom teacher in school. It's like a essay I put together. It's like no, anyone in the world is now going to hear this, watch this, listen to this, and gain some insight, I would hope,
Starting point is 01:03:59 from it. And you never know. You never know who's listening. I've had people reach out and be like, yo, I was going through a divorce and like listening to your show really helped me. or, you know, I had no idea where to begin looking into UFOs. I saw one. I was scared, but then I saw you do these witness accounts. Like, it's so good to know that other people are like me and stuff like that. So you never know who's going to read your articles over there and who could reach out and help you crack a case even. You know, these are cold cases.
Starting point is 01:04:30 If anything in the world has cold cases, it's the UFO topic. Because almost everyone is unexplainable. That's why it's still. UFO. Well, yes, exactly. Yeah, yeah. So I'm excited. I'm excited to see what else you eventually dive into over there on the substack as well. And Anomicon, you mentioned Anomicon. And you tease a little about what you'll be talking about at our September 12th free virtual conference. I want to make that clear to everyone. You can watch it for free. Yeah, tell us a little about Anomicon. time. Firstly, I can't, I can't even, like, fathom that I'm presenting at Anomicon, because Anomicon
Starting point is 01:05:12 has been one of those things, you know, like I'll look forward to it every year and then, you know, put it on like the TV whilst I'm doing whatever I'm doing in the house, right? And like you mentioned before, it was one of those things where, you know, like, there might be points in your life where you're feeling a bit, eh, about something or other. And then, you know, you put that on, like, yes, like, it's that time of year again. right, it's so much fun. And so yeah, it's cool. I get to do it this year, which is awesome. And naturally, I have to bring Australia to the stage because, like, it's new to me. I apparently discovered that Australia, some people believe we're fake. We're not real.
Starting point is 01:05:51 So we are real. Australia is real. We exist. It's happening. Yeah, you guys are not an anomaly. Yeah. No, no, we are not an unidentified random island. That's a lot. like down there somewhere. So yeah, we're real. And yeah, I thought I would bring some more cases to the world from Australia. So obviously, you know, some of your well, well-known ones. But, you know, sorry for all the Westall lovers.
Starting point is 01:06:20 That's just been done too much. And that is Grant Lovex area. I'm not touching his baby. I respect the man immensely. I followed everything that the man has done. Fair enough. to tell him so. So I will not be touching Westall, but yeah, mad respect to everybody who does because it is one of those cases that has, you know, it's cemented Australia in the UAP space.
Starting point is 01:06:46 Absolutely. So I will be speaking about some awesome lesser-known cases and some well-known cases. So it will be interesting and hopefully a bit of learning for everybody involved. Absolutely. That's what I love about Anamacan. It's not just something. I'm like, oh, yeah, let's just, let's do this. This will be fun. Like, I learn so much because it's not just UFOs. There's so many other things that we involve in people that we bring into this space to kind of build a bigger community when it comes to all of these different things. And again, yeah, Australian UFOs. They're real guys. It's not a fake place. It's not. not fake cases. So we're going to learn more about them from you at a nomicon coming September 12th, guys. You can find the landing page for that right here on YouTube. Hit that notification bell. Make sure you join us September 12th to hear Violetta and so many others.
Starting point is 01:07:46 I want to get your thoughts on one more thing before we go here. And that's the modern UFO discourse. Now, some of these cases are weird. And, you know, when you start really digging, they just get more and more bizarre. And that's what I've always loved about the UFO topic is how imaginative it is. It really pushes the boundaries of what you can dream and what you can even fathom. But I don't know if it's the same for you. But in like post-2017 UFO discourse, it's everything has to do with the government.
Starting point is 01:08:27 the military, the United States specifically. It's obviously bled out into other countries and whatnot. But it, to me, all these congressional hearings and former intelligence officials, whistleblowers, it's interesting and it does lend, I guess, some more credibility to the topic. But for me, it's also very boring. and dry and bureaucratic and and it's made me almost lose some of that wonder that originally got me into this topic. I'm prefacing this with way too much bias. So I'm going to get your thoughts and opinions. What do you make of uphology today versus, you know, what it was maybe 10, 15, 20 years ago?
Starting point is 01:09:21 Do you see a difference? Do you think all this stuff going on now is good, bad? Like, where do you stand, I guess, on modern day euphology, as we call it? So that's a great question. Thank you. It's a big one. I apologize. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 01:09:42 Look, firstly, I think the fact that we are even having discourse on a level that is taken seriously, is huge, it's wild, and it's a great thing. So let's not take away from that because I think, you know, the fact, honestly 10 years ago, even not even talking about 15 years ago, I wouldn't have even comprehended an iota of the amount of discourse that is happening, you know, just on your normal, I turn on Channel 7. There could be something. I open up like a regular newspaper here in Australia. There could be something about UFOs. And it's not been jokes about, it's not been laughed about. It is a proper conversation from official channels. And like you said, yes, it is all heavily kind of government based and a lot of United States
Starting point is 01:10:30 based as well, which is to be expected because I think a lot of the discourse has been driven from that kind of White House and Pentagon space. So, you know, it does make sense that a lot of it is being pushed from there. But I do understand and I agree, it does seem. It does seem. quite boring and quite dry. And it is somewhat lackluster when I compare it to things that I'm reading about, like I said, from the archives here that I'm digging up from, you know, the 40s and the 50s, you know, even the 90s, like there is this, like, you're right, this sense of awe and wonder, even from the people who have witnessed whatever they've witnessed and reported it and written about it. You know, and right now I feel like everything is either colored by, you know, fake news
Starting point is 01:11:20 or it's AI or, you know, like it doesn't matter because it's just coming from this person and we don't like them. So therefore, we don't believe in their government or anything they give. You know, so it's really tough to kind of filter through all that noise and pair back what it actually means to be getting this kind of information. And, you know, the fact that I can now go through all this kind of declassified information and documents from America and even from Australia is just wild to me. It's beyond my wildest dreams. Sadly, a lot of it is dry.
Starting point is 01:11:57 It's quite boring and you do have to sit there and filter through a lot of it. My sister and I were joking about it saying, you know, we'll just wait for like Ryan to read it and do like a podcast about it and then we'll know what's happening because like we can't go through this. There's just too much. And you know, she's right. Like there is so much and it can be quite dry. So I think, yeah, you're bang on there.
Starting point is 01:12:18 Like it is, it's an interesting time because a lot of it is kind of around that, you know, what's the government doing? What's this government body doing? Why is this agency doing this? It's like, where are the, where's like the bread and butter, as we say, of the people, the witnesses, the heart and soul. Like I want to, I want to say that again. And it is lacking.
Starting point is 01:12:40 And I think it's lacking because there is just so much noise from everything else that, you know, it's bigger, it's a bigger voice to have a bigger platform. And everything else that isn't from these official channels seems to just kind of get, you know, swept under the rug or confined to like the deep, dark Reddit threads, which you are now covering, right? Yeah, we're attempting to do that. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:03 Yeah. Yeah, I miss the weird shit. That's what I always tell. Yeah, same. Like, bring that to me. I want to read that kind of stuff again. Yeah, yeah, which is what we're doing over at the substack. So again, like, I'm so happy and honored to have you doing that.
Starting point is 01:13:18 And I can't wait to see what you come up with next over there. We're going to have to have you come back every like five, six articles. And, you know, we'll break them down on the show. Yeah, we'll do the debriefs on them for sure. So I'm super excited about that. And like you said, like it's dizzying right now in the UFO world because of all the noise. But it's also exciting. Like it is getting more people interested in the topic.
Starting point is 01:13:44 It is bolstering the credibility of the topic overall, so I will be forever grateful for that. But because of this topic that I love so much, I am its biggest critic as well. And I think that's important to kind of, you know. I think that's healthy. I think with anything, you know, you have to be able to, you know, look at things objectively and take it with a grain of salt and, you know, use your own knowledge and research and and intelligence and have your wits about you, you know, not everything is a UFO,
Starting point is 01:14:16 but not everything is a weather balloon. So, you know. Yeah, the answer is somewhere in between. Somewhere in between, somewhere in the skies. Somewhere in the skies, but we did it. We did it. I think that's a perfect way to kind of end this tonight, Viala. But obviously, before I let you go,
Starting point is 01:14:35 tell us a little about everything else you got going on. Do you have any new books coming out in the next? I guess month or so or anything like that that have recently released. And yeah, tell us where we can find everything you're up to. Yeah, I do actually. We've just released my brand new cover for my brand new crime thriller. So this is my first foray into the crime genre.
Starting point is 01:15:02 So I'm very excited, even more excited that I managed to learn to publish it for it because I was not sure it was any good, but apparently it is. Yay for me. Nice. That's coming out in November this year with Dragonfly publishing. All my information, everything about me is on my Instagram.
Starting point is 01:15:25 I am really active on there. So everything I do over at the Summer in the Sky's substack, I link straight there. Everything I do in my day-to-day life is on there as well. And I am a writing coach. So if anybody needs writing coaching or you want to write your book, Don't know where to start. Hit me up. Amazing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:46 As someone who just finished a 10-year book process, I probably could have used that myself for sure. So, yeah, yeah, definitely. Congratulations. Oh, thank you. Thank you. You as well, again, like, you are just constantly pumping stuff out, and it's admirable to say the least.
Starting point is 01:16:04 So, again, we're so thankful to have you over there. We will have links to your links in our show notes as well. So go check out everything that Villetta is up to you guys. And be sure to check out her presentation at Anamacon on September 12th as well. You can learn more about that at Anamacon.com. But this is awesome. I kept you way longer than I told you I would. So we'll get out of here for today.
Starting point is 01:16:30 But again, Viala, I want to thank you for coming on Summer in the skies today. Thank you. It was amazing.
