There's been a horrible accident, I said hastily.
I don't know what happened.
Corkrin's eyeless skull gawked.
His lower jaw having sagged more since I first found him,
making it look like his corpse was trying to scream.
His body is just a casing to be discarded, the man said softly.

New Elgin, Moorishire, Scotland.
May 1977. Two young children were playing in a field when they heard a strange humming noise.
They followed the noise into the nearby woods, where they saw a strange object hovering a few feet
above the ground. Welcome to just another tinfoil hat with your host, Zilia Edgar.
Join Zillia as she walks us through some of the most bizarre UFO cases and incidents of high
strangeness. Today, we will be discussing the fascinating case,
of the Morrashire Marauder.
So this case occurred in Morrishire, Scotland, in the town of New Elgin, to be exact,
and involved two 10-year-old girls, Karen McLennan and Fiona Morrison.
At around 6.30 in the evening of May 18, 1977, these two girls were playing in a field
near their homes.
Now, this field was also near some fenced-in woods.
The terrain was bumpy.
It included a disused railway track as well as a small bridge.
Now, as they were playing in this field, they suddenly heard a strange humming noise.
They said that it sounded something like when a helicopter hovers, but softer and more hum-like.
They listened very carefully and heard that it seemed to be coming from the direction of the nearby fenced-in woods.
So they decided to move towards these woods in the hopes of finding whatever was causing this bizarre humming noise.
As they rounded the corner of this fence, again, these woods,
woods around New Elgin were fenced in somehow, they saw a strange thing perched above the ground,
actually hovering at the same height of the fencing, which was about two feet. That's a short fence,
for one thing, but whatever. This object was hovering directly over a portion of the ground
where this disused railway track kind of left a depression. This object seemed to be comprised
of polished metal. They said that it had no scenes, visible doors or windows,
and was about 30 feet in length with a main body which was a classic saucer shape,
with rounded ends and topped with a small dome.
They claimed that it had this red band around the object,
which seemed to rotate, and the dome was topped with a single stationary red light.
As the two girls were looking at this bizarre thing hovering above the ground,
they said that they noticed alongside it a man, partially hidden by bushes.
Now, Karen's description of this guy was, quote,
he looked rather like a telegraph pole. Both girls claimed that this being appeared tall and spindly
with disproportionately long arms and dressed completely in a silver one-piece suit with silver
buttons down the front. They also said that this thing had no visible facial features.
No sooner did they see this strange figure did it begin to step out of the bushes and towards them,
at which point they panicked and immediately left the scene. As Fiona and Karen were busy,
getting the heck out of there, they did turn back at one point to try and glimpse the anomalous
sight that they had seen one last time, and probably also to see if the bizarre silver-suited
faceless guy was getting any closer to them. And as a matter of fact, perhaps unsurprisingly
to many of you watching this video, the strange figure had simply vanished. However, the object
was still just sitting there. Until suddenly, right as they looked at it, it began to
to take off in a very strange manner. They said that it moved left a little, up a little,
left a little, up a little, kind of gaining altitude in this weird jerky motion until at
the third move like that, it simply shot straight up into the sky and totally vanished. The two little
girls, you know, ran home, told their parents about this weird thing that they had seen. And,
you know, you might think there would be some sort of big struggle of like, oh, are you sure you saw what you
thought you saw, oh, honey, that doesn't, you know, that doesn't exist, but no.
Both of their mothers completely believed them for the simpler reason that both of them
had also heard a strange noise on that fateful evening of May 18, 1997, around the same
time that their daughters had had this bizarre sighting.
Karen's mother said that it sounded like a vacuum cleaner, and Fiona's mother, who noted
that she was deaf in one ear, said that to her it was just a high-pitched humming noise.
Now, other residents of New Elgin, Morishire also heard the strange noise, but no one else saw the object or the silvery man.
In fact, another neighbor came forward to say that the next day, she had heard the exact same noise that everyone else was describing,
pretty much exactly 12 hours after the initial incident at about 6.30 in the morning of the following day, May 19th.
The local police did become involved in the matter and took it seriously, however, they could never find any source of the distinctions.
Again, perhaps unsurprisingly for many of us that follow the weird, unusual, and anomalous.
The next day, Mrs. McLennan took the two young girls back to the scene of the sighting,
and they did, in fact, find this 100-yard-in-diameter circle of damaged and what appeared to be singed young trees.
Now, as to if this was caused by the weird thing that the girls had seen, the object and the strange man,
or something just entirely unrelated, who can really say?
The burnt leaves, a sample of these leaves, was actually sent to UFO in, the UFO Investigator's
network for analysis, but get this, it never arrived.
Apparently, this was the second piece of evidence to simply vanish in the mail.
This was also not the only bit of weirdness after that citing of May 18th.
Apparently, Karen's mother began receiving telephone calls where they were the same.
the same monotone male voice would give her a warning that if she valued her daughter's life,
she should quit talking about the sighting.
Again, the police became involved, but they could never trace the call and never found the source.
So aside from the threatening telephone calls, which I'll get to in a second here,
the actual sighting that the two girls had, it's just a wonderful little case.
I don't know why, but it feels very whimsical to me.
Nothing really happens. It's just kind of this weird thing like, you know, I'm just, I don't know, I'm entranced by this silver craft and the strange silver man that came with the craft. So let's take a closer look. The very first thing that stood out to me about this case is that it began with a noise, specifically this high-pitched humming type noise. Another very infamous case from around this time frame, the case of sand down, clown, alien, ghost, robot thing, otherwise known as,
Sam of all colors is pretty much begun the same way. These two children are playing when they hear
this high-pitched humming noise. They follow it and find in the Sandown case, I guess they find this
bizarre clown robot Thingabob and in this case the landed craft with the silvery being next to it.
There is a whimsicality in my opinion to both of these beings. Good old sandown.

But in this case, that line of buttons down the front of the suit is a suitably nonsensical detail,
and far more in line with Apixie's everyday duds rather than your typical spacesuit.
I have to wonder if, in cases which are begun with, again, this kind of basic, almost nondescript noise,
this pummel or high-pitched wine, if this is somehow priming the witness to observe what they're about to observe.
It's very interesting to note that in this case, the Moorashire case,
The children were playing in a field and then followed this noise into the woods where the object appeared hovering over this disused railway track.
And this is kind of intriguing for two separate aspects.
Abandoned locations, disused locations, locations where people used to be and are no longer, seem to be a very common motif in paranormal sightings of any type.
Of course, we think of abandoned homes and ghosts, but it also includes cryptids and in this case, UFOs and UFOs.
And the setting also of seeing this thing in the woods is another very strong folklore motif,
where you have these kids playing in a field nearer to their home, nearer to the town,
and wandering into the wilderness where they experience something unusual.
I mean, it really reads just like a classic fairy tale.
As with many cases, in this case, both the entity and the craft appear to be comprised of the same material.
Some researchers like Paul Devereaux theorize that this is because they are literally made of the same material.
He referred to them as proto-entities believed that they were made out of some malleable, almost consciously malleable, like psychologically malleable energy form, which took the shape kind of plucking it from the subconscious of the witness.
To me, it seems like an iconographical tie that they are simply both parts of the same underlying anomaly.
Again, possibly being shaped by what the witness expects or what the witness doesn't expect or these longer running folkloric motifs.
It's a big question as to where kind of the individuality of the event itself begins and where it ends.
In this case, we also have the sudden disappearance of the entity, followed by this jerky kind of takeoff of the craft.
I find it very interesting that the entity just simply vanished while the craft waited until the girls looked back.
This is another aspect which we see time and time again in every different type of encounter,
where it seems as though the phenomenon awaits for the observer.
I think that this is just a strong tie showing us, again,
that we are far more connected to these anomalies
and they are more connected to us than we would think.
And, you know, it's just kind of this perfect timing
where so often people would not have witnessed something
if they had been even 10 seconds earlier, 10 seconds later.
And in this case, again, the thing was just waiting for them to look back to take off.
I mean, so often it seems as though escalations in cases or, again, appearances or disappearances are ushered in by the observer observing it, which I find very intriguing.
Not to mention another big cross-field aspect in this case is the facelessness of the entity, whether covered by a spacesuit, as we could kind of see in this case, in again, other so-called euphonaut sightings, or a veil in the case of the Banshee, a mist in the case.
of many religious sightings, or hair in the case of certain Bigfoot encounters, all across the
Ouija board, anomalies show up without a face. To me, this is, again, a pretty strong
giveaway that whatever these things are, they come in all of these apparently different forms.
They are comprised of the same basic, if you want to say construction or material or
immaterial, if that makes any sense. Now, on to the one aspect of this encounter, which is
decidedly darker, and that is the continuing strangeness of the telephone calls.
Apparently, Fiona's mom even claimed to see lights kind of darting around the area where the two
girls had spotted the object on May 18th. In my opinion, there is a very good chance that after
this case did gain some traction in the media, and so after it gained some of that traction,
some notoriety, to me, it seems very likely that those little lights could have been sightseers
or UFO spotters, as Keel called them the little old ladies in tennis shoes,
out hoping for a repeat sighting.
The phone call truly could have been someone's idea of a joke,
or it honestly could have been some sicko.
But even the leaves, getting lost in the mail on their way to the UFO investigation network.
I mean, all of this could simply be human error.
On the flip side, you know, for all of that that I just said,
I do tend to think of, once again, good old John Keel,
and how missing mail, burned homes or files, weird telephone calls, just general oddness outside of the oddities that people are seeing or studying, just seem to occur to people who study or see all of these weird things.
As to whether, again, that's what this in particular was.
Who really knows?

What scares me is getting stuck really late at night in an unfamiliar town at some intersection that has an inexplicable red light.
That shouldn't even be red because there's no one around for miles.
It's three in the morning, and yet there I am.
The engine idling and the seconds are ticking and I'm looking to the...
left and looking to the right in the shadows. At that moment, I'm always convinced that I've been
set up by the forces of darkness. And this is the moment when something is going to come out of
the dark at my car. And that thing is going to be, I don't know, let's just say the Wendigo. Sure.
