Hey, spit and chicklets listeners.
You could find every episode on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music.
Me and Ryan have been officially welcomed to the jungle that is basketball sports.
I brought it toward the coyotes, and I asked him if it was okay if I joined the Spit Chick-Chiclets podcast full-time.
Ryan Whitney's got a pink Whitney out there now.
This is a standbacker. Get that on camera.
Pete Yandel, the song, man.
is a full-time member.
Marley just got an assist from Chris Bates.
Whoa, we're buzzing right now.
Sunk.
Welcome, everyone, to episode 678 of the Spit and Chick-Lichrist podcast presented by Rees.
I don't know what biz was just doing if you're watching on Netflix.
But boom, Rees.
I got mine.
Rees is absolutely rocking this time of year.
You know this is Reese's Super Bowl.
Halloween is exactly nine days away.
Everyone's packing in the peanut butter cups.
I actually last night crushed a Reese's little mini pumpkin.
And just, you know, at Easter time, they got the eggs.
Christmas time, they got the special one.
But Halloween, the mini pumpkin Reese's.
Oh, and this sign, and Biz still doesn't have one.
Suck it, Biz.
The Reese's pumpkins are elite.
So just go out, grab one.
Stock all your candy.
You don't need anything else for the trick-or-treaters.
You just need Reese's.
Hey, you know what I do?
What do you do?
So since I got this, I do a vote of the day.
Who was the best of the day?
My whole family, dogs included, and you get this.
You get to spend the night with this, and you get a little Reese with it.
So there's a lot of incentive going on in the Yandel household.
Last night, I got it.
I was the best because...
You could vote yourself?
I make the rules.
I told Wyatt before practice, because he can move pretty good,
but there's a lot of practice.
he decides not to move.
I say, Wyatt,
throw me how fast you can skate in every drill
and we will crush Reese's after.
And he showed up.
He showed up.
Yance picks the dogs because they can't eat it
so he gets the Reese's.
By the way,
my buddy Miser texted me,
you switching the dog callers
on Jeff Tafe's twin dogs.
It was just fucking hilarious.
I kind of like didn't realize
you said that until he texts me.
He's like, that's funny shit.
Like the tapes are like,
we can't have Keith over anymore.
more. But guys, I want to give to start this thing off, I want you guys to join me and give
a round of applause to the Ottawa senators and their fans.
Wow, boys.
Because, oh, Keith's booing him.
Keith, if you, I think Brady would even give them a round of applause.
No, no, I'm booing because they were booing.
Okay, okay.
Let's boo.
Boon.
Ottawa senators fans.
Ottawa senators fans who've taken a lot of heat in the past.
I mean, they got.
You got Biz last year constantly torturing them, saying they're the pigeons of Ontario.
We got Brady asking for a tradeout.
We for a long time said Brady was going to ask for a trade out.
Grenelli started the rumor years ago, but they deserve a round of applause for the show that these guys put on.
These guys and girls last night because not often do you get a game on October 21st?
And no, it's probably going to be a top five, if not top three, if not the number one.
best night in the NHL regular season because that was electric.
It was an unreal atmosphere.
I got a couple DMs from sense fans right when they got back saying it was like the best
night they've ever had in that arena.
So just an amazing, amazing night and perfect, perfect on the schedule.
It's only one other game.
Unfortunately, Biz, you guys were working the Philly Buffalo games.
Yeah, but it was kind of like the times were a little bit separated.
So I got to enjoy that.
We had it on the split screen.
We couldn't like we had the audio from the.
Philly Buffalo game on.
So I couldn't get a lot of these chance in real time.
So the group chats just pop it off.
Okay.
The choreographed chance.
And I almost want every fucking captain in the league to stab their team in the back and ask
for a train now.
Well, it's happening.
Detroit.
Oh, yeah, it is.
I know BIS has probably seen these online.
Keith.
But I want to do, I don't know if you've seen the trend sometimes on Instagram where they do
the blind rankings where you give some.
somebody you give some and they got a blank you got to you got to rank them right and you don't really know
what's coming next even though you know some of these so i'm going to read off all these these are
the chance from last night these are the chance and i'm going to chant them actually and you blind
rank where you have them okay how how many we got one two three four five there's this is
i got like 15 here say i'll pick my 10 favorites no do all 50 okay okay okay okay okay you got to bring
the same that hold on because you know you need to know the number exactly one two three four five six
seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirty four three four
15, 16.
18.
Okay.
So we got to agree on it.
They should be reimbursed their ticket prices for bringing that.
But they were the show.
They were the entertainment.
These fans were unreal.
Unbelievable.
Not often in life, do you have expectations for something?
And we were talking about this season preview episode or Atlantic Division preview
episode about this game.
And it ends up exceeding your expectations.
That was last night in Ottawa.
That's how good at us.
getting the butterflies on my stomach when you came up to me at Chicklet's Cup and you said that
an usher from the Ottawa ring Canadian Tire Center showed up and was telling you about
this three minute tribute video where I'm like three minutes.
It wasn't three minutes. It wasn't three minutes. And Brady, an incredible, just skates out
on the ice and he's smiling. It's like, look at that phone.
Beautiful.
And he scores to go up one nothing. And then Ottawa pounds the panthers. It was, it was a very,
I'll remember that night for a long time, buddy,
and it's a regular season game in October for the NHL.
You couldn't have scripted it better with him scoring right after that,
taunting the crowd.
Then when he's going to celebrate,
we've had Osama bin Larkin,
and then now we got Saddam Brady.
Yeah, the Adam is Saddam Hussein,
what is going on here?
And then right after that, to tie the game,
we have Stutzel,
who previously was asked about why he didn't go to dinner with him.
him and he drops the, I got a private chef.
Yeah.
AKA, I wasn't invited.
Now, now, Stutzel and Brady, I believe at one point, we're close, if not living together,
you can tell zero, zero love loss there.
Like, now, when Brady got the video and came out and was smiling as they boot him,
Stutzo was up, Stutzer was up, giving him the tap.
So, like, much respect there.
But they don't like each other.
And I think that Brady and some of those guys are still good friends.
But on the ice, they all, like, he hated everyone and they all hated him.
Do you know the backstory as to Wyatt Stutzel specifically?
I don't know.
And I was honestly shocked by hearing how many guys were at dinner and how hard they played against each other.
Like, how many guys went to dinner?
I think they said, I thought it was around like 10 or something like that.
But like Pinto is a guy, not an overly physical guy.
he was so engaged, playing so hard, going at Brady.
Brady was going at him, and I'm pretty sure they're boys.
How about cousins?
They were on the same line, and they're motherfucking each other in front of it.
It was so electric.
And the Tavares returned to Long Island was incredible.
I think that crowd was just as good as Ottawa's.
But there wasn't, with the way Tavares plays, there's not like the hitting and the face washing
and the after whistle stuff in Tavar's game that Brady's always brought.
So against the islanders, that night in Toronto, as a, as a Maple Leaf, it wasn't overly physical.
It was just the crowd.
This was the crowd along with Ridley Gregg and cousins and Pinto and fuck.
And who else am I forget?
Halliday.
Yeah.
We had two fights in the game.
Bennett fights.
Hodgson fought, I believe.
Hodgson fought.
But let me read you the.
Do you think they were sharing appetizers at dinner?
I don't know.
I have a chef.
Oh, the other part that was the other part that was awesome was the amount of cheers and the excitement the sense fans gave to Lars Eller, who I think played 60 games for the senators.
It was unbelievable.
Hey, whoa.
Oh, go ahead.
I was just going to say, don't like I think I agree with them chanting, booing all that shit during the game.
I thought it was a little disgusting that they booed during the, when they were giving them the ceremony on the TV.
Oh, you're crazy.
Shut up, yeah.
You're crazy.
And I think you said,
I, buddy, they don't give a flying fuck anymore.
And, and, well, I'll give you this.
When Matthew went back to Calgary,
they booed them all game,
but during the video, they did cheer.
Now, what is weird is it's kind of similar.
Like, they, Matthew did basically the same thing.
I'm not going to resign here,
so they traded them.
Now, you didn't have the gold medal,
U.S. versus Canada,
and the White House stuff.
So that's a separate thing.
but I think some of Brady's quotes that he had,
like I'm here to win a Stanley Cup with the senators
and maybe that's how they're looking at.
I don't know if Matthew ever had those quotes
where he was very adamant about always being a part of Calgary.
So there were some differences.
But the Flames fans did cheer during Matthew's video part,
but the rest of the game they boot him.
You knew or you were crazy if you thought
they were going to be cheering during that video.
I would have been shocked because what you, like,
are what you said that the,
the usher said was they were going to be silent for it.
That was a rumor from this guy.
That guy might not even been an usher.
He might have been from Charlestown.
Like he could have just been lying to me.
It was all right.
So and even backing it up before the game,
how about this post from the senator's Instagram account?
He's back.
So everybody's thinking like,
he's talking about Brady.
They're talking about Brady.
He wants to win.
And then it was Josh Shander.
Welcome back.
Josh Shander said.
So the troll job.
Jake Sanderson,
Jake Sanderson.
Josh.
Josh.
I can't wait for him to get asked for a trade out and they bring that up.
Hey,
hey,
I want to say quickly,
Jake Sanderson,
he'd come back from injury that.
Buddy's nasty.
He has some of that Quinn Hughes in him.
The amount of defensemen in the last two nights that I've seen,
they make a quick step at the blue line.
They're three feet from the offensive blue line behind them.
And the spinnererama and immediately,
escape across horizontally across
the offensive zone. That was not happening
when I played. And Quinn Hughes does it
all the time. Sanderson did it seven times
last night. He's unreal. Kind of
forgot about how good he is
and how good Ottawa is.
Like they are a hell of a team. They got no
goaltending last year. Unfortunately,
Allmark gets hurt last night, but he's
been incredible. But I want to get the
blind ranking of the champs. All right. Shout out to
Josh. Fuck you, Brady.
We don't.
I would say, I would say
818. I would say 18 because it's just like that's pretty standard. Fuck you Brady.
That's not that creative. So blind ranking, you have to say it first and then we rank. And now I don't
18 to go last on that one. That's a swear with kids at the game. Let's do 10 biz. Let's do 10.
Yeah, I got to pick 10. I got to pick 10. That's one of them. That's one of them. I'll say I'll say that's
nine. Okay. Matthew's better. Yeah, because they used to chant Brady's better. So it's kind of
funny. I'll put that at seven.
Okay. Okay, I'll agree with the answer. I think this was my one.
You eat crayons.
You can't read in the crayon eating. I don't understand. He went to college. He's got to be pretty smart, no?
As somebody who ate crayons, I like that. You can go to college to play hockey and be so dumb.
I'm not say Brady is. Okay. I just thought that they would taste like they smelled. That's, that's where I
I went wrong, so I'm going to go number two.
Okay, okay, okay.
Brady's in bread.
I don't like it.
I don't like it.
I don't like it.
I can't say I'd enjoy it as a family member.
Funny's funny, though.
I know, but fucking family members is not funny.
I'm going to put it at 10.
Yeah, 11, because it's out of the top 10.
It's out of pocket.
Fair, fair, fair, fair, fair, fair.
Should be fucking family members.
This was pretty, Brady's balding.
Hey, boys, boys.
I'm losing it.
We're all kind of losing it.
Those hit hard.
Those hit hard.
Now, Brady's able to pull off the short hair very well.
The 17 times his helmet was off in the game,
he looks good with the short hair.
But he's losing it a little bit.
The picture of the guy with the Goonies mask on next to him in warm up was fucking insane.
That is a, can we pull that one up?
Like, there's no way he wasn't even laughing at that.
Oh, for sure.
He was laughing as the whole place.
boot him. He's probably laughing at everything.
I'll put Brady's balding at
six. Those were kind of the
funniest ones, but this one
biz, very funny, retweet by you.
Fuck your podcast.
I'm just like, they just
kept coming with everything and it's like,
what? Like, they just thought
of everything. They were
ruthless. How did they get on the
same page? It was like the whole
arena knew. I mean, there's 18
listed here. Some are very original.
Some are just standard. But the
whole crowd would kind of hear one guy yell it and boom there chan fuck your podcast there's the picture
there's the picture for anyone watching this podcast i just let's not lose focus on brady doing all this
to make all this happen right so he's the catalyst that created all this entertainment so thank you
to the chuck family and do you think that part of this animosity was the way that the because they
were fuck you in the podcast was because this kind of like it's almost like they were leaving
crumbs that this was going to happen on the pod like Walt was making comments like do you think
that that that's what kind of sparked all this what was he saying i don't remember i feel like
there was one clip there was one crumbs there were some crumbs here yeah yeah there was just fine i
don't give a shit and there was even the time like big Walt was carving guys uh wasn't he
carving kind of guys without name and names that like weren't playing through injuries on
Florida.
I don't know.
I think he's gone out both teams.
Oh, I mean, the one year, you know, grip with Florida on the radio.
But there was also a time I think Walt said on the pod, when's your deal done?
Something, something like that.
Crum.
Yeah, like little crumb.
I'll say this, boys, the chucks love them or hate them.
I'm big fans of that family.
You can't, whether you hate them or love them.
they are content factory.
Factory.
Go back to the Four Nations game in Montreal.
I mean, Matthew said the morning of,
we're going to flip this game on its head.
If you can't admit that these guys are unreal for hockey,
I don't know what to tell you.
I think even Senators fans, like, yeah,
there's hatred for Brady and leaving and one of the chance
you're a traitor.
Buddy, like, they loved him when he was there.
He plays the right way.
He plays exactly how your captain would want to play.
unfortunately he chose to leave
but deep down these fans know like this guy's
electric the way he plays the game
and same with Matthew like there's no
shifts off there's constant
after the whistle bullshit that brings your team
into the fight and they offensively
produce Matthews got more goals
through 10 games than any
Florida Panther ever besides Pavel
Burray Brady you mean Brady
Brady sorry yeah
but yeah isn't that why like all
that stuff you just said about Brady and what
he brought to that organization
for, I think it was eight years.
That's why I thought he would maybe get some cheers
during the ceremony.
And then obviously the chance and everything
A-okay with that, but that's why
I thought during the ceremony they'd give him his flowers,
recognize what he meant for that team for such a long time.
Because, I mean, at the end of the day, too, right?
Like, he knew he wasn't going to resign there
and he gave them an opportunity to trade him
two years before he was going to leave.
As somebody who's never given that type of, like,
you know, my heart and soul
to an organization.
Like I wouldn't know.
Well, I'm saying like he had so much more impact.
Captain like helped develop all those like the young players on the team.
Like obviously lug in 20 minutes a night.
Like I don't know how he would feel about the fact that they never once really
acknowledged that during that.
But going back to what you said with and like now the fact like they have a podcast and
now like we get to hear his comments about what he experienced and how.
he lived through what he just went through.
So you mentioned the term content factory.
Like these new guys who were signing $18 million tickets,
they used to be swabbing those guys knobs being like,
thank you for bringing the noise.
Because since the four nations all the way till then,
who are the biggest names in hockey?
Like the Kachuk family.
Like that's like better than what fucking the Hughes family's bringing.
Just kidding, Pasha.
But no, but on a serious no.
Like it's, yeah, it was, it was fucking sick.
Like, I mean, look at what we get to talk about for the first 20 minutes of the pod.
We're blind ranking fucking chance that, although the fans had for them.
And we could even go through the whole list.
So bravo to everybody involved.
Yeah.
And the players, too.
The play, like the Ottawa senators, Florida Panthers, like they put on an absolute clinic for us.
It was, it was one of the best games you'll ever see this early in a season.
It was, it was, I couldn't change the channel even in between periods.
I would have liked if it was a little bit closer.
And then I think that one thing that was lost in all this,
I don't even know if we got to talk about it last pod was Travis Green got an extension as their coach.
Yeah, I think we mentioned it.
I think we mentioned it last pod.
But yeah, well deserved.
Now, another funny aspect was Stutzel's chef actually tweeted,
I think, or on Instagram after the game, tweeted you should have hired me as your chef to bring here,
something like that. So everyone in the city was involved with what we saw in that game and
leading up to it. But, you know, Florida, I'll tell you, this Echblad, and we can also say,
I believe we are about 15 days out from a Cachuk brother Sandbagger with Aaron Echblad.
So, I mean, if you don't think business is showing up with the Goonies mask and maybe I have
on. We got to get in these guys' heads.
And Ekblad, Ekblad's
flying forearm shiver move
that he's doing now. It
is meant for the chest. I think many times
he's caught guys right in the chest.
It sometimes misses and looks like
it might kill someone. Yeah. I think
that was in the game last night.
Kachuk, I think he caught
someone with an elbow. I'm going to be wearing one of those
NFL helmet pads on my
brain. Guardian.
Yeah, the Guardian helmet. My God.
They are just the fucking, they're the true villain hockey team of, of this, of this century.
It's fucking, I could, could you name a more hated hockey team than in, and like since the turn of the century?
No.
They're the all-time villains.
If they hadn't won, if they hadn't won back to back, it wouldn't be like this.
But the winning, it's like the winning and then Brady going there and then the cap circumcision.
Yeah.
Everything.
All of that.
Wait, I think going back to Eckie's flying elbow, it's like, you know, when you throw a punch and miss, it always looks a lot worse than if he actually hit you because you don't fully, he doesn't fully extend.
He just kind of gets you right in the chest.
But when you miss, it gets fully extended and it looks a lot worse than it is.
Didn't he get suspended for that in playoffs against Tampa?
No, I think he did it to the Leafs goaltender and they let it fly under the rug.
I thought he did it against Tampa.
I don't know if he's gotten suspended for that, but people, like, I see like Edmonton writers, like,
posting it like what the fuck
dirtiest team in the league when will you
suspend them george when will you
suspend them
unbelievable i mean yeah i don't
ecplad ecplett it reminds me like of like derian
hatcher like just like killing people
out there with elbows but
i yeah
Ottawa Ottawa
it ends up winning that game they look awesome
stutzel
stuttle's off to another incredible start
i was surprised to read this that
uh where is that i saved it here
most career points by a
trained player prior to the age of 25.
Stuttle has more than Leon Dreisdell.
He's at 423.
Pasta is 427, Copatar 434.
Then it goes Sundin, Kovulchuk, Yari,
Kari, Ovechkin, and Yara Miryager was number one.
So he's an unreal player.
Unreal.
He flies. He scored.
And Ottawa looks good.
So hopefully O-Mark's okay.
I know that he was...
I might not be saying this if I was still a Leafs fan,
but there was more energy in that building at the Canadian Tire Center.
one game that I've seen in Toronto
fucking maybe ever.
Like they are, I would
I would say this too.
I will crown them the Kings of Ontario
for now after that performance.
Okay.
Do they have to back it up or now they can
go back to Sleepyville?
I think that they could take a dump
for the next six weeks and it wouldn't matter.
No, not the team, the fans.
I would say that
that Canadian Tire Center
is probably louder than Toronto on
average to spite that game.
Toronto's brutal. When I played at least,
you're talking standard regular
season game and I played there in the playoffs
which was a top three
atmosphere I ever played a playoff game in.
That place brushes.
Brushes where the Leafs play.
I'm really hoping that
now they've been given the crown of
Ontario that they don't fuck it up
and they continue to bring that energy throughout
the rest of the regular season and then obviously
make playoffs. I have said
that I would considering Bob
went to Toronto, I would have loved to
have seen a Florida Toronto first round
matchup. Scratch that. Yeah.
We need Ottawa, Florida.
We need it.
That would be, that would be
electric.
Also, Eckblad
was suspended two games in 2025
for a flying forearm elbow
to Brandon Hagel's head.
Yes, that's right. Before we
move on from Florida, Seth Jones
needs to get his flowers, too. He's been playing.
I know we've been talking a lot that the Norris
This is Bushes, but Seth Jones is putting his name in there.
He's got, I think, 11 points playing over 25 minutes a night.
He's been a whore, so I just wanted to give him his fault.
He looked great last night, too.
Yeah, I agree.
Yeah, he's been awesome.
And, like, it just goes to show.
People were writing them off after he signed that big ticket in Chicago.
It's like, it has a lot to do with the team that you're on, boys.
100%.
What's the saying with?
You never judge a good defenseman on a bad team.
And that was the first time I kind of heard that and saw people.
It might have been Jeff Marrick, I first saw.
say that that it was Seth Jones on Chicago.
That's who he was talking about.
So pretty funny.
You can bring that to a lot of guys now if they're good defensemen on bad teams.
Now, talk about bad teams.
Go back to Tuesday night.
And Aaron Portsline is a very well-respected writer for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
He tweeted, this was last night,
watching how the Senators fans have welcomed back Brady Kachuk
and the Florida Panthers tonight in Ottawa,
5-1 route plus fights, ruffings, and debris everywhere.
Just reaffirms what a pathetic showing that was by the Columbus Blue Jackets
versus Carrillo and the Leafs on Tuesday night.
And give Fantilli credit.
Fantilli ran them over.
I don't think there's any sort of comparison to Marchenko's exit like Brady's.
But Marchenko was pretty open.
They didn't want to be there.
We talked about the quote during training camp.
And I think before the game, Fantilli mentioned like that.
Almost good thing he's gone.
Like we don't want people who don't want to be here.
But Columbus gets smoked again.
Absolutely smoked.
And the group chat was going nuts because we're addicted to Bones losing his mind on a daily basis right now.
And Bones after the game, I think he realized, like, how many times can I crack the whip?
I can't keep in the press telling these guys how much they stink.
And he kind of came out like in a happy mood, not a happy mood, but hey, we had effort there.
Like they got crushed 6-2.
And okay, I'm thinking, Bones is realizing.
There's guys who don't want to be here.
I can't keep just dogging them.
And then practice starts the next day in which a video is released of Bones
slamming a stick off the boards, making them do a drill again,
saying, stop doing it half-ass.
And I just thought, I just thought the Columbus Blue Jackets right now
has to be the most miserable NHL team to be on.
it is dark days.
And I think Jeff O'Neill mentioned something about, like,
there are guys who probably want no part of being there right now
that aren't big enough names to come out and request a trade, right?
But it's a visible atmosphere.
Well, there's other ways to get your point across.
And apparently I caught wind.
I don't know if this is true.
But this needs to be discussed as a topic.
And if it's not, like, once again, like, it may not be true.
so to the like no heat towards this guy.
But apparently
Varankov drove to the rink with Markchenko.
Shut up.
Shut up.
Shut up.
No way.
No way.
Biz.
Boys, apparently he drove with Marchenko to the arena
before they faced off against one another.
Now, once again, this might be a complete rumor that I call,
I, a former hockey player told me this yesterday.
I would have never have said this unless I heard it.
That has to be the most ridiculous thing.
It would have been a clean breakup and this guy would have gotten traded unexpectedly.
Maybe.
Even then, pulling up with a guy you're both like.
It's crazy.
Oh, Voronkov had an assist in 10 minutes of ice that night, two shots, one hit.
So it wasn't zeros across the board.
But.
Buddy, you're not supposed to make the other guy feel comfortable.
I like go ahead.
My only guess is they stay at that four seasons in Toronto.
Or no, it was in.
Is it Yorktown?
No.
But there's like a next door to it.
There is like the resident.
So he probably lives in there and they're staying at the same hotel.
He jumped in.
Still don't agree with it.
Oh, no way.
And then all of a sudden this comes out.
This was today.
Some teams calling with interest on winger Dmitri Varankov,
not saying he will be traded for sure.
but Columbus listening.
So I don't know if it's...
If Bones saw that,
if Bones found out
that he drove to the rink with Marchenko,
like the mood he's been in,
that would be something that he would take serious offense to.
Guaranteed.
Yeah.
Like, we can't get a win here and you're driving
and you guys are shit talking me in Russian
the entire ride on the way to the rink,
which you know, Varanca's probably like,
this is awful right now.
He played 10 minutes.
He played 10 minutes.
Also, G,
That was Pierre LeBron, the tweet business read.
He's also saying right now that, well, G's saying Werencki trade chat is going to start getting a lot louder.
I agree with that.
And then Pierre LeBron reports that he is on the trade market.
So I said this in a clip that we posted like, I think less than a week ago now.
And I had Columbus fans being like, what are you talking about?
We got a bright future.
We got this.
We got that.
Like, are these people out of their fucking minds?
These people, I will not say a word about Blue Jackets fans.
Listen, I'm talking about the ones that are delusional to the fact that Warensky's probably going to get moved.
We got Varankov having a new definition for tummy sticks, because that's as crazy as I've heard it.
There's like, you have to coach going nuts like every other day.
It's like bipolar at this point to where he's like back and forth, back and forth.
I just go back to last year at the end of the year and how hard they fought to like even get them within conversation for playoffs.
I don't think that that was the card to pull at the end of the season.
I think it's almost like you lost them then.
And they're probably like, boys, we had nothing left in the tank.
We went on a 12-gain run when you first got here.
We were fucking winning, win, win, and, you know, yeah, we fell off the edge.
But I just don't think that was the right time to use that bullet.
And it's been playing catch-up ever since.
And if, like, what happens if all of a sudden Werensky's out the door and,
and, and now all of a sudden this team doesn't even
have a number one defenseman and they win 15 games the rest of the year.
What do you do if you're the coach?
You've already used all those bullets.
What do you do?
No, there's nothing you can do because his whole thing was, you know,
doesn't know what's going on in the locker room, doesn't like the effort and stuff like that.
And then he goes back on it after the game in Toronto, after they get humbled.
And then he's like, no, there's no question that, you know, the guys are good in the locker
and everything's fine.
The culture is fine.
Then what is it?
Because then you see him snapping in practice.
Like, is it bipolar?
Like, there's just so much going on.
If you're a player in that locker room, you're like, what are we getting today?
If you're a Columbus Blue Jackets fan and Biz is considering you one of the delusional ones,
you are allowed to be delusional.
They have been packing that rink for years.
They've won one playoff series in, I think, 23 years.
When did they come in the league?
It might have been even before.
I think they've been in the league since 2000, maybe, 99.
26 years.
They've won one series.
They swept the president's trophy Tampa Bay Lightning,
and they've had absolutely nothing since.
So if you want to be somebody who lives in Columbus
and is completely delusional to what's happening with the Blue Jackets,
and now the future's bright, go right ahead.
We'll even welcome you into an insane asylum.
You are welcome to be crazy because you deserve to be crazy
because you've had absolutely nothing to cheer for for 26 years.
Besides a 10-day span, they had 10 good days in Columbus in 2014.
So this is a funny one too.
I've gotten about four or five messages, a few DMs.
That it's my fault because I got Babcock fired.
They're seeing what he's doing in Edmonton right now.
And now they're blaming me because I took their coach away.
Hey, they're allowed to do anything they want.
They are on tilt.
Anything they want.
Oh, my God.
Do you think Babbs could fix them?
I think Babs could fix anyone.
I think the cock.
Really?
I think the cock.
I've said it, guys.
This is an all-time coach, an all-time great,
that you're witnessing at Edmonton.
And we'll get to Edmonton and Wild fans,
who I've always gotten along well with.
But a whiny bunch on Twitter the other night.
I want to go back to, I forgot one thing.
I don't know if you guys saw this in the Ottawa, Florida game.
Well, two things, because I wrote down,
I forgot to check my notes when we were chatting about it.
There was three people standing together with Brady jerseys on,
but they changed the names on the back.
It was ogre, liar, and an old school great insult.
Dummy.
If you call somebody a dummy, it's funny.
I'm sorry, I feel like you're a fucking dummy.
Oh, I've been calling.
It hits hard.
Yeah, dummy hits hard.
It's a Minahan specially.
He's always like, this guy's a dummy.
I'm like, oh, that hurts.
It's on my TSA card.
The other part of the game, it was the worst, one of the worst penalty calls I've ever seen.
And if it were to happen in a playoff game, I think that fan base his head sort of exploded.
Ottawa goes on the power play
with 12 minutes to go
it's a 1-1 game
12 minutes in the second period
Batherson has his stick on the ice
he's going for a puck
Forceling comes over the top
with a tomahawk chop
breaks his stick over
Batherson's stick
they gave Batherson a penalty
No they didn't
buddy buddy and I was like
and I was just I kind of think like
what if this is playoffs
Travis Green his face
it was crazy and I'm like
how can you
review if a high stick is from your own teammate or your own stick and not review.
Like, it was bizarre, Biz.
I'm just, just,
well,
Hey,
it's funny that you say that because that identical situation that you just mentioned,
um,
I believe it was Mischov ended up high sticking Trevor Zegris last night.
And they,
he wasn't cut.
And they gave a two minute penalty to power.
And then they put it on the jumbo tron and then they see its friendly fire,
but they can't.
review it because it's only two.
Oh, yeah.
It's only two.
The only time you can review it if it's four.
So only if you're bleeding, you can review it.
That is goofy.
I've never seen Owen Power yell or get angry ever.
Not ever.
Ever.
His face is completely red.
He's fucking losing it because they were down in the game.
I think they were down two nothing.
And if they score on that power play, fucking three nothing game over the way that
Bladar is playing.
Buddy, they are showing.
they were showing Buffalo Savers fans in the crowd.
And you could see some of some of the fans like neck veins.
They were losing it because they kept playing it on the Jumotron, man.
I was having a ball.
Watch this.
Obviously, if you're Buffalo fans in Lindy Roth,
you're like,
you're about to have a fucking stroke.
But,
um,
kind of funny that you mentioned that.
But the fact that he came over the top and broke his stick on
Barthasins.
Yeah.
A tomahawk chop breaks his own stick on Batherson.
and Bathurst is getting brought to the penalty box
and him and Travis Greener
are like, what is, is this a, is this,
where's Ashton Coocher hopping out of the closet?
How isn't that a one second fix
where it's like they just called down and they say,
oh no, foursling came down on him?
Yeah, I don't, I don't know.
And I didn't know that you could only review the high stick
if it was a four minute because of blood.
I thought it was any high stick.
I didn't know that.
But sticking with, you mentioned Buffalo Philly,
Buffalo loses again, 3-1.
The Buffalo Sabers,
fan base, they are done with UPL.
From what I'm reading and seeing, UPL has really struggled.
Now, it was a pretty good exchange on Buffalo Talk Radio.
Gee, look up the names of the reporter.
It was a great exchange.
It was great radio.
It was great radio because basically, I don't think we can play it,
but the radio host is saying, I'm sorry,
the reporter for the Sabres started saying, like, yeah, Sabres fans,
they're just done with them.
Like nothing he can do.
every goal is his fault.
And then the radio host is like, well, listen, like,
I'm not saying he's got to stop everything.
And I'm not saying that they'd be 10 and 0
if they had Connor Hellebuck.
Because that's what the Buffalo reporter had said.
Those fans think they'd be 10 and oh.
He'd have 10 shutouts.
And it was a good back and forth to like,
I'm not expecting greatness out of UPL,
but they're losing games because of them right now.
I think he has the worst five-on-five save percentage
in the league right now and or the tandem does.
But he's playing majority of the games,
I believe, because Lion is not in the lineup currently.
I think...
So it was Jeremy White, the radio talk show host,
and it was Paul Hamilton, WGR 550 in Buffalo.
Great exchange. You can look that up.
And then the discussion around what Jeremy Wright was saying
is like, you have a guy and he was tweeting,
you have an elite goalie.
You need a goalie. You don't have a goalie in the minds of the fan base
and a lot of people in Buffalo with UPL.
You have one of the best in the world.
that is willing to come here.
That's the point he's making.
So many times guys won't come to Buffalo.
You got a guy who's willing to come here.
You got to make this happen.
You have to get it done.
And then Darren Drager reports that,
and I think he's pretty dialed in with Winnipeg
that the only offer they have
or the real discussions they've had is with Carolina,
which I'm surprised about
because if I'm Carolina, like,
you won the cup last year.
Like, that's a big move.
I think Helibuck's incredible.
But I'm not necessarily giving up a ton
for him after winning it last year with Bussy.
Now, Anderson's gone, but you saw what Bussy did in the final few games.
So I think that was Nikesian centric too.
Like that was the premise of the trade.
It was a Neketian going to Winnipeg for Helleback coming back, obviously with a few more.
And I think Elliot was the one who reported it.
If Nekishin would go to Winnipeg, if he would resign in Winnipeg, the trade would
already be done right now.
But Elliott also did report this morning that Carolina has finally moved off the
Neketian trade package.
And they're now looking at another package.
to really try and bring Hellebuck in.
Okay.
So if you're, and you consider yourselves as a contender in the East, you can't,
one, yeah, I don't think they're a contender with.
They have, they have like the second or third youngest team to league after moving off
of talk.
They have a lot.
If they got Connor Hellebuck, I would consider them as they could win the East.
Yeah, I would.
With that decor and Hellebuck in net and the young, yeah, they, they're young, but
buddy, they got players up there up front too.
You need a save right.
now.
And I see how,
that's fair.
That's fair.
But you're saying that,
but are they going to have to part with a roster player?
Like,
are you giving up Jack Quinn and part of that move?
No,
but I'm looking at,
is it Kulik or,
or,
Heleneas or they have a ton of young guys,
buddy.
Like they're,
they only have one million caps space.
They have 1.6 million.
So they would have to come off a roster player.
Okay.
Okay.
That,
that's,
yeah,
I'm not moving Benson.
I thought Benson,
was going to get one. He hasn't scored yet.
Can we not forget here too?
Like one, Swamen's worst year
was when he held out and he wasn't.
So now you don't even know what you're going to get
when he gets back. Especially with a goalie.
And this guy has improved himself in playoffs.
So you're,
it's a gamble man. Because once you get him, you got him at five years
and locked in for $8 million. To me, you're like,
let's see if UPL can turn, maybe turn it around.
or like they do have a three goalie rotation because I believe it's lion and then who's the other guy
Ellis Ellis. Ellis. I'm not saying that's that's a goal tending threesome. I don't know why I just said that.
That's going to win you a Stanley Cup. But trifecta. Trifector. Not three. Trifactor. Thank you.
But I also don't. I don't know. I think patience could help buffle out in this instance because like look at look at like when.
And like Colorado needed to address goaltending.
They went and found two guys that were available.
It's such a fickle thing.
We're about to talk about Dobish.
You would have said Dolbush is the goalie of the future for Montreal.
Fucking, he turned into a pumpkin this offseason.
Look at how he's playing.
They just wrote an article.
But Biz, I agree.
I see what you're saying.
But Carolina won the cup last year and they're hunting them.
So obviously.
Okay, but they also have a ton of cap space.
And Bosse only makes one, whatever, seven or something?
Yeah.
But what does UPL make?
Because when you're saying Buffalo only has a million bucks, what is UPL make?
So add his money.
All right.
So they have five and a half.
They have five and a half.
4.75.
So you have 5.75 in space.
All right?
So they don't have...
Ryan McLeod is a name that has been often linked to this trade as well.
He makes around $5 million per year.
Now the question is who's going to take UPL?
Everyone's like the Rangers in a three way or a threesome busy.
but who wants him right now?
Yeah, it's a fickle position.
You're right.
But I just think if you look at Buffalo
and that Jeremy White's saying,
you actually have a star in the league
who is willing to come here
is a big part of his statement
that so many guys in the past
I'm like, I'm not going to Buffalo.
Yeah, that's why I think they need to get the deal done.
And the UPL situation, like,
you know how it is not only just for players
but for goalies.
Once it's in your head, like he's hearing the noise
that everybody wants them out,
nobody wants him there.
He's probably like, Jesus Christ, let's get this deal done so I can go somewhere else,
get a fresh start.
So I think for everyone to be successful in this trade, it needs to happen soon.
You got to get a guy in or you got to sit everybody down and be like, hey, we're not going
after Hellebuck.
We believe in UPL.
We believe in Lyon.
We believe in Ellis, whatever it is.
So whatever it is going to be, they have to figure it out as soon as possible because
the more you let it linger, especially in the goaltending situation, it's not good.
And biz, you brought up Doobish and we can, do you have anything else on that, Biz?
No, I just, like I said, I agree with the guy on the call who was saying that, like,
if you go get him, it's not necessarily just going to address everything.
Because now all of a sudden you're losing a roster player.
They don't have tuck anymore.
That's probably to me the biggest frustration for Buffalo fans.
But it's like, we didn't spend the money resigning him and he went to free agency.
they probably assumed like now that money is going to be used to bring in Hellebuck
and address what probably is their weakest position right now.
They have enough skilled forwards.
I mean, last night against Philly, they were fucking buzzing.
I think they finished the game with 20 grade A scoring chances.
And they just-
Vladar was awesome.
Vladar played out of his mind.
So yeah, let me ask you this.
Where do you want to see Hellebuck?
Buffalo.
Buffalo, same.
I just think it's like a great storyline.
You gave the Ryan Miller comparison and how good he was there.
Maybe it's the American goalie thing.
But I just look at an exciting team who right now can't get a save.
And also the Tuck, I think the fans with Tuck, the fans knew or were thinking like, yeah, the final few years of that deal, maybe he's not the player he is now.
But we know for the next four to five years, Tuck looks awesome in Washington.
And he would have kept looking that good in Buffalo.
and he liked it there.
And so that's another thing.
We had a guy who wanted to be here.
He was from New York.
I don't really care about the last three years of his deal
where he's slowing down big time.
Like, we want to win now.
They had a little taste last year.
They finally got in.
And then you lose a local guy.
I mean, local in terms of he's from the area, sort of.
And he enjoyed being a part of there.
And they didn't want to pay him.
So there's a lot of frustration from the fans.
But the reporter also said in that argument on the radio,
what you mentioned, that they're giving up great H.
chances. It's that just getting Hellebuck won't fix what I think are their issues. So fair point. No, I,
I mentioned that they put up 20 in great A chance. I know, but the reporter said they're giving up
chances. Like they're they're giving up, which maybe last night they weren't. But yeah, um, if you,
if you're a fan, like I feel like a lot of people are saying they don't want to, you know,
get rid of a roster player, but to get a caliber goalie, especially goalie, like Connor
Hellebeck, you're going to have to lose something, no? Yeah. Yeah. I think that you talk.
as a more oppressive team.
Like, G just put this in the chat.
I agree.
I personally, the reason I would like to see him go to Utah is because I know that they
could end up getting him and even another big piece with players that aren't even on
their current roster.
Like,
I believe that Tage Ginnla and,
and that DNA or however you pronounce the French kids name,
like those are two prospects that would actually move the needle and potentially fetch
a few superstars over,
at least at least halibund.
Like you would have to imagine that the Jets,
if you're offering up a Ginnla
and a first
that their ears are perking up.
No?
Compared to like where...
But she's saying instant cup favorite?
Like Utah?
If they got a stud defense...
If you just get Halebuck,
I'm not saying they're the cup favorite.
I think that they're more of a cup favorite
by getting Hullabuck than what Buffalo would be by getting Halebuck.
Yeah.
I think it's close.
a defenseman too.
Buffalo's got a way better D.
Way better than Utah.
Either way, we can go over to Montreal.
Incredible atmosphere, as always,
in the Bell Center Tuesday night.
San Jose is down 3-1 in the third.
They get the winner in overtime by Celebrini,
his second of the game.
He also added an assist.
It was a snipe.
Stenberg,
Stenberg being a rookie,
running the top of the four on three in overtime.
Like, awesome, no look over to Celebrini.
But the story was Doobush, and Eric Engels wrote an article.
Did you see that fake one-timer pass that Sellebrini made?
Did they score on?
No.
So basically it was slid over to Sellebrini,
and he faked like a big bomb one-timer off the right wing,
and he, he, like, passed it towards a slot for, like, a high-tip play,
which ended up in the back of the net.
To Folli's goal?
To Follies, yeah.
Go watch that fake clapper over the middle,
with to Foley pop it out in the center,
right in the To Foley's breadbasket.
Just such a sick little dish and play
and an awesome comeback.
Actually, Wanton Don,
Habe, no swag, and Chaps
went to that game. They'd never been to the Bell Center.
So that was a pretty, pretty cool game for them to witness live.
Obviously, a little bit better nightlife
if you get the 4-3 win in overtime,
but tough sledding, as you mentioned,
for Montreal and some goaltending issues.
And news just breaks right now.
Suzuki's out two to four weeks.
He has a 546 game Iron Man streak, so that's over.
That sucks for him.
That sucks for the Canadians.
And I also saw that Celebrini was getting some of the booze from Montreal.
If you're a visiting player and you haven't Chara style on Patcheretti almost killed a Montreal Canadian,
but you're getting booed.
That means your superstar status, which we all know.
But you're getting booed as an opposing player who's never done anything to the Canadians.
that just is so, that's, that's bossy.
That's just out of respect.
That's out of respect.
Like, we're going to boo you because you're that good.
That's a sign that you know I am, I am a top five player in this league.
That wakes those guys up, though.
Like sometimes you got to let those guys sleep.
Ask Murals, when we were on Pittsburgh, we were playing Yager on the Rangers.
And he was sleepy.
And they're booing them.
And we're on the bench.
We're like, stop, stop, stop.
Now granted, the history there, that was always a thing as he came back on the
capitals and the Rangers and the flyers but those guys don't need to hear that yeah and the thing is
you know you're getting as that as celebrini he's getting booed because of how good he is so it's like
it's just a confidence booster like I'm not good I'm gonna I'm gonna have him even booing me louder
but the article angles wrote after the game it says so he Dobish they beat Toronto first game
of the year. He won that game. He gave up
six in a loss to Pittsburgh,
five in a loss to Carolina.
Then Fowler goes in for three games,
right? He beats Buffalo
on the weekend,
and then fans find out
Dolbush is starting against San Jose.
They're furious, but he looks great.
They got a 3-1 lead. They end up
making it 3-3, go to overtime,
and he decides for no reason.
I don't understand why goalies do this,
just interfering with
who was the player he bumped into?
was skating through the crease.
I don't know, but he did it.
He did it in playoffs too last year.
He took a penalty like that.
But was he outside of his crease like he was the other night?
Like he was pretty far out.
Usually they just give you the little chicken wing.
Like he's, that's, that's far out.
Like usually they're in the blue and they'll give you a, you know,
because that's their area.
They can stay in there.
That one he's outside of it.
Absolutely ridiculous penalty.
He legit like just puts out his arm like it's the most obvious call.
Like what do you want the ref to do?
And they were, they were changed.
Like everyone was changing.
It was just like there you weren't even like setting a pick for anyone.
Gee, she's getting a little cocky on the chat here.
Gee, why don't you come on and address the Canadians fans in what you're writing?
Well, I said this summer that they should trade Dobis.
I thought his stock was at an all time high and I thought that I think Fowler's the future.
So I got a ton of shit from Canadians fans for saying that,
saying that Dobis is actually the future.
He's bigger.
He's better.
I don't know.
I think Fowler is clearly the future here and I think they should have traded
Dobis.
They probably could have got that filled that center depth.
if they were willing to part ways with them this summer and they did it.
I don't know.
That's a tough one after that run.
And like,
I know.
It's,
we're gambling.
We're gambling here, boys.
This is all gambling.
I'll tell you,
boys,
they were,
Halak went on that run and they knew he wasn't the guy for the future.
And it was price.
And I don't think Canadian fans were ever saying,
like,
trade price.
And I don't think anyone said trade foul.
You want,
you want strength in net.
Now they have Montembow, too.
So I guess if you look to trade,
that would have had to,
be where Kent Hughes and Gorts are like Fowler is certainly like no question going to be
a star in this league. It would have been ballsy. I'll say that. I mean, I guess it's,
it could still happen. But Doebus, yeah, a little bit, little bit of a head case kind of just.
And St. Louis had some good quotes talking about almost like there's times as a coach you could
see guys want it too much. And it, and it's true. It's like kind of hard to describe. But
when you're so obsessed with what you're doing
and you're living and dying on every save and practice
and every game and then you start hearing noise from the outside
there needs to be a time where you just kind of take a step back
and realize it's going to be okay.
This is St. Louis talking, so it's going to be interesting to see it play out.
What a great way to approach that.
Yeah, especially with a goal.
He's fucking, he knows what he's doing, hey, that guy?
And you think of how hot, like,
Dobish was probably the king of the city last year in Montreal,
like getting so much love
and then you struggle a little bit this year coming in.
And obviously it's a long season.
You can struggle for a handful of games,
but it gets magnified a little more in Montreal.
So, yeah, those words by Marty are amazing,
and that's why he is the coach that he is.
So Edmonton, Minnesota had a hell of a game.
It was electric.
Bryce idle, two tucks.
The cock was actually taught,
McDavid, another three points.
He has more assists than anyone has points in the league right now.
The cock was talking about how good.
Eric Sinek was before the game.
And he scored first.
Now, if you look at the Pasha stats, the advanced stats,
Minnie kind of took it to Edmonton, five on five,
especially the top line. Caprisov's line kind of dominated when they were out there.
Quinn Hughes had moments.
He was incredible.
But my beef with the wild fans was, and there was a lot of calls.
It was a little bit of a ref show.
I'll admit, I think Edmonton, I think Edmonton had more calls go their way.
than Minnesota did.
But the complaints from the mini fans about the penalty and overtime,
like that is a blatant too many men on the ice penalty.
Like,
I don't know how that was the penalty they were complaining about.
Hughes hops on the ice and Hughes was mad after the game about it.
It's like, that was, it was too many men.
It was obvious.
And Bouchard, I mean, that goal on his birthday.
And he had hit the crossbar earlier in the game with just,
he's got to release like a 50 goal score.
It's insane.
Is Bush unreal?
Yeah, he's unreal.
The team's unreal.
The team is just running through team.
But they got Carolina Thursday night.
That's going to be incredible.
And I just, I can't say enough good things about Edmonton and Minnesota.
Once again, you guys picked them to miss the playoffs.
They look great.
They could have won that game easily.
They controlled five on five.
Boldie's heating up.
Caprisoff, he hit the post earlier.
I don't know if you guys saw the 10 and 2 open up with a defenseman dragged all over him.
He flicks a backhand hits the post.
The Mietchcroft?
That's where he learned it.
And then the goal he scored early in the third period.
It was just, it's, his release is incredible.
And he snaps one bar down to make it three, two.
They tie it up.
But a great game, a great game.
That year of has been awesome as well.
We talked about their lack of center depth.
And that's when Billy G fucking rolled his eyes at the back of his head.
And he obviously knew he had a, he had a second to slash third line centerman ready to go.
And you're off taking that next step.
So, yeah, I'm a fucking.
idiot my worst maybe my worst prediction on this podcast and the history of the podcast yance would you
agree uh oilers leaps in the final this year was pretty bad i think buddy fucking leaps are fucking
they look good the last couple games poppy poppy's skated the best he's skated in the last five years
he looks incredible if they end up getting warrensky you guys better be fucking shaking in your
boots who the oil is or i think i think elliott's mentioned or i've seen on twitter like carlson
with alfredson in toronto now does pittsburgh makes him move
at some point.
But they just signed Radish.
I don't know.
Now, what was I just going to say?
Oh, I forgot to bring up
while talking Buffalo, Philly.
Incredible that we record.
And right after Mischkoff gets two goals that night against Colorado.
Now, I did predict he's going to get 40 and 40 this year.
Did you?
I got to say this.
Both goals.
I don't know.
One is a rebound that goes right to him.
He buries it in the emptiness.
He had Bizz could have scored it.
And the other one was a sifter from the point with a great screen.
And I got, I got Flyers fans.
Yeah, they had me on that night.
Look at it at two goals.
I don't know.
I could have scored those two goals.
Oh, you didn't like when he McCarman.
I think we got to give the guy a little credit.
Come on.
You didn't like when he McCard McCard, Mcard?
Oh, he dangled.
Dang.
What was that way?
What do you mean McCard McCart?
He dangled on the ice and he did the 10 and 2 and he went all around the ice and
the ice shaked Gere hips.
And then fucking McCar was like losing his stuff.
footing and then he sent the sifter in.
Yeah. I think it was a better screen than a better
shot. I mean, that shouldn't go in, but I also
think we got to give him a little credit. You know what's funny, Hans, is when we said
Minnesota wasn't going to make playoffs, what did what did Wits say? You guys are
dummies. Dumbies. You guys are haters.
Am I a Flyers hater? Am I a Flyers hater?
I think Meachov. 100%. I think I'm turning into a Meachov
Hater, I wasn't.
I just said one time his tribe was a little choppy.
And now the fan, it's like, once you come at me, which I respect, because I said something
about your guy, well, now I'm going to almost lean more into it.
The problem being for me is when I go one way, the tide goes the other way.
So like, this could turn Mischkov into, you know, 48 goals this year.
And then I'm just eating it from Flyers fans.
But, hey, I can admit when I'm wrong.
I just wasn't like two goal game.
Two goal games amazing in the NHL.
I did it one time, not a big deal.
in MSG.
But I wasn't super impressed by the two goals,
but it's two goals and they're winning now.
And he played 18 minutes against Buffalo and had an assist.
So Flyers fans right now, they got me.
They got.
Let's roll that clip, G.
Just to remind me these guys.
Speaking of Cruz, though,
and we're going to have you on for Pittsburgh breakdown and Philly,
he trained in Philadelphia with your brother quite a bit this summer
and put on like 30 pounds, you said?
Well, I think he put on.
He hung out with Meachkov.
Yeah.
Oh, did you see Meachkov workout video?
Hey, hey, he does, that was very funny, but he kind of looks ripped up now.
Oh, he's going to put up 80 points.
You think so?
I think he's going to get 40 and 40.
I couldn't wait to bring it up to you guys because I don't know if he's posting,
but people are posting a lot of like Michkov like in the grind.
He's got the turbines on his skates this season with the way Witt was going out of his foot speed last year.
He's been working on the ladder drill.
Once again, because this is basically Pittsburgh Philly preview joint.
Once again, I said his stride was short.
I never said a word about his speed.
And then all of a sudden, people are all over me.
And I think even Flyers fans have come to my side at this point.
You ain't watching Leo Carlson long striding up the ice.
He's a little choppy.
You can be choppy boys.
You can be choppy.
I agree.
But he's, Biz, posting those videos.
Like, he took to heart your criticism with of his choppy stride.
I think that's enough.
Hey, Biz, great call.
Right now he is on page.
for 42 goals.
All right?
And I'll agree with you that his,
you know,
it doesn't look pretty,
but he gets it done.
And I would imagine the reason it looks a little bit faster is
because he shedded a weight vest.
Like he lost like 30 pounds,
which like all the credit to him.
My gripe with Flyers fans isn't the fact that I don't think that
Meachcroft's talented.
My gripe is when they win a game,
he's got two goals.
Achari plays 13 minutes of five on five against Nathan McKinnon
and shuts him down and then gets the game winner
and then they're bitching about the fact
that Meachgob didn't play 18 minutes.
It's like he played
protecting a lead.
It's and also Michkhov,
keep in mind in that game, he was out there
towards the end of the game for like a good minute and a half.
So like there's different things
in hockey that don't revolve around like
this this fucking kid that you're obsessed with
hitting his quotas.
And sometimes you have to shut up
other teams top lines down and that's not his role and you have to put the guys on the ice
to shut that top line down that know how to do that. So how about just be happy and stop
attacking the coach that the side of the game plan to get you to win against a good Colorado
team and they're now on a three game heater and it has a lot to do with the way that all the
young guys have played including the Meach God. So I think there's a way for all of us to get along
ourselves here at Spitting Chickles
and Flyers Nation. I just need them to kind of
simmer down on wanting people dead if this guy doesn't
hit his minutes on ice quota. That's it.
Telling them to simmer down is like telling your wife
to relax. Whoa.
You don't tell a wife to relax.
That's why he's not married. It ain't good.
It ain't good. You say you need to relax right now.
It is going up a level.
That's why you don't get married. You tell those Flyers fans
to simmer down. Tell Flyers fans to simmer down?
they ain't similar now
and they're ripping it up even more
Colorado interestingly enough
struggling
struggling right now
they lost their
last season
they lost
I think it was their fourth game
in regulation
January 7th or something like that
and they already have four this year
kind of weird to see that
now last year didn't go
as they hoped
that regular season dominance
so maybe it doesn't end up matter
but we forgot to mention
congrats to Kail McCar
a new dad of twins
so amazing for him and his wife.
Congratulations.
And Morales has been somebody who's often said
the new dads in the league.
They play way better on the road.
They get their sleep.
And at home, they got the daddy daycare duties.
I have mentioned babysitting before.
And then my wife says,
you're not babysitting.
You don't want to say I'm babysitting about your own kids.
Just tell her a lot.
She pays you 20 an hour.
Relax, honey.
With your money.
But,
And yeah, and I guess before we throw it over to Mike Malott, incredible UFC fighter, unreal knockout the other night.
We got to mention Ben Kindle, scary situation.
Kyle Dubus actually addressed it.
It's Thursday morning right now a couple minutes ago about, I think he went unconscious on the flight.
Then he got oxygen.
He was okay.
But they had to turn the plane or they couldn't take off whatever happened.
They had to turn the plane around.
And that's just scary.
The report was made.
I don't know who originally reported it, but right away, I mean, with no details or anything,
we texted Army.
He didn't know what was going on.
So luckily, it sounds like he's going to be okay.
I think a bunch of the Penguin staff had stayed with him, but that was scary.
So luck, good to hear.
He's doing all right.
I hope we get some more details in the future and he's not out too long.
But that is, that is, I don't know if you guys ever experienced anything like that with a teammate on a flight.
No, that's crazy.
The only one I could remember Biz, remember.
Brett McLean?
No, what was that one?
Oh, he had like a heart attack.
Yeah, he had a heart issue.
He had a retire.
He's doing good now.
I saw one of his buddies at Chicklets Cup.
I think he's got a couple kids and stuff like that.
So that was tough, but good to hear that he's like, well, obviously living and enjoying life and has a family.
And, you know, there's obviously bigger things in the world than playing hockey.
But that was a, that was a scary one and a very good player.
Like, he was a natural goal score.
Yeah, Canon.
Who were you thinking of?
I was thinking Bodker.
Remember he, like, ruptured his.
spleen in Winnipeg and luckily last minute they told them to stay in Winnipeg because but if he
had flown something bad could have happened with like the elevation and so luckily he didn't
even get on the flight but that was kind of the only one I could remember because after we found
out what would happen and they were like oh if he had flown he could have died we were all like whoa
that's well the Eagles would have had him fly that was yeah what was that but the NFL came out
people don't know Jalen Hertz um he had a
blood clot. Now, at the time of flying over to London or wherever they were in Europe
playing against Jacksonville, the blood clots were smaller. He was given the okay that he was
able to fly and play. Crazy enough, though, they told him not to sleep. He didn't sleep for
36 hours before the game. Then he flies home. Then they realize that the blood clots have
either traveled to different parts of his body or become way worse. He's now out for the
season. But the NFL didn't give any extra punishment to the Eagles. So I guess they
their doctors passed the test in terms of them allowing him to play.
But that was a crazy story.
What would the no sleeping do?
No idea.
I don't know.
I've heard that before.
Like with that and concussions,
they say don't go to sleep.
Concussions,
I remember.
I had a concussion when I was younger and like I had to be woken up.
I think like every two to three hours.
I don't know what that does either.
Besides ruining your sleep after getting crushed in the head by an elbow.
But last thing before we throw it over to Mike Mallat is,
Showed out Jake Allen.
We forgot to do this last episode.
That's our bad.
His 500th career start.
I think only around 80 goalies have ever done that in the NHL.
Did you say Josh Allen?
No.
I don't think so.
I think we got a lot of Joshes going today.
Josh Anderson.
Hold on.
If you called Jake Sanderson, Josh Anderson,
and then I just called Jake Allen, Jake Allen,
and you said I called him Josh,
and you're incorrect again.
You might have to take a lap.
Did I say Jake or Josh?
Gee said you said Jake.
Okay, yeah.
So you're just, you're just, you're just.
I'm Jake and Joshan right now.
Jake and Josh.
Shut on Jake out, Jake out.
I think they gave a, they gave a fishing, they gave him a fishing, what is it?
Rod, rod.
They gave him, uh, um, tackle box, I think.
Oh, wow, that's nice.
Oh, yeah, it looked like a, they came with the Rolex and then he returned it for a, uh,
Oh, nobody's heard.
That interview yet.
Zach Benson, we can't let that out of the bag.
Yeah, Zach Benson sold his number nine on the Buffalo Sabres to Josh Norris.
We won't tell you for what, but it shocked us to say the least.
So shout out Jake Allen.
He's been, he's had an incredible career.
It's been a bunch of different stops.
So that's pretty cool to get your 500 of the start.
That's basically the goalies, thousand games or even better, right?
Because how many guys have played a thousand games, Keith?
I would say definitely more than 86, whatever.
it is. Yeah, 500 is amazing.
How many goalies have played a thousand? I think
like two, right? I'm shocked that he's played that many
because he's been a, it feels like he's been a
backup majority of his career, which
is even crazier. Maybe I'm being
disrespectful right now. No, he played a lot.
415 guys have played
a thousand games in the NHL.
Yeah, so wait. How many goalies
have played a thousand?
Who? Started a thousand games.
Roder and Luongo, I think.
Four goalies have played a thousand
games. Martin Rodor, Mark Andre, Flurry,
Roberto Luongo, and Patrick Wah.
All French. All French. What a list.
All Quebec Leaguers.
You know what Josh Allen should have done,
a.k.a. Jake, he should have traded in the
Rolex for a bass boat. I'm sure he
has one or two. I think it's
St. Louis. He was starting a lot with Elliot
in terms of you saying he was a... He was an
All-Star. I know, but when you think of him,
are you not like, oh, this guy's probably
been a backup at least half of his career.
when you're thinking of guys who have played 500,
you're like, oh, that guy,
like you think of guys like Henrik Lundquist
and like just guys who have, yeah.
But good for him, man.
I'm not trying to take away.
Jeez, fuck.
Sorry, John's like you are.
You should get him a war.
Sorry, Josh.
Jeff Malott plays on the Anaheim ducks.
He grinded his way to become an NHL regular.
And his brother stole the show.
That's Mike Malott.
Mike the proper one,
Malant,
with an enormous knockout on Saturday night in Edmonton.
And we got him on to chat about that and his career as a UFC fighter.
Awesome interview.
Let's throw it to him right now.

It's a pleasure now to be joined by a man.
Man, on a five-fight win streak coming off an incredible second round knockout of Yaquine Buckley.
Mike proper Malot.
What's going on, man?
Congratulations.
Unbelievable nickname.
Oh, I forgot.
Proper one.
Thanks, boys.
How do the nicknames come in UFC?
Like, do you give yourself that one?
Dude, I think that's the corniest thing in the world is if you, like, give yourself the nickname.
If you walk into a gym, you just like, so I probably shouldn't just call myself wit dog.
And what if you get biz, what if you get biz nasty tattooed on your own?
arm. Oh, brutal. Yeah, man. Nothing worse to the guy coming to the gym. Be like, you guys all have to call me Dragon from now on.
Okay. That's me and Biz. So, unfortunately, Biz, this might be a Keith interview. I'm going to log off here.
Fuck yeah. Nice. He's just kidding, Biz. In order to get through it, I have to take that knee to the head.
Oh, yeah. You just called yourself Biz long enough until people started calling you a two?
No, Biz nasty. No, no, no. Time out.
Dennis Bombie and Stephen Dixon gave me that name
And like they take credit for it
You didn't give it yourself of them
Yeah, but he tattooed it
He tattooed it on his arm
That was him
Yeah, but I'm a douchebag
Like that's just like that's gonna happen
Like I'm gonna, I'm gonna
Oh yeah
Yeah anyway
But enough about my douchebaggery
What a fucking
What a week this must be for you
I mean we joked when you first came on
It doesn't really look like you got in a fight
That's usually the best outcome
when getting in one of these dustups, I'm sure.
Yeah, man.
I mean, you fight one of the best guys on the planet for a 25-minute cage fight.
Like, some stuff can go wrong, man.
Like, you could look pretty rough after.
So getting out, not getting hit, being unscathed.
Like, I'm pretty stoked about that, especially with how hard that guy hit.
I blocked a couple of his shots off my shield.
One of them in particular, he launched.
I blocked it off the shield and went away.
All right.
That's why this guy knocks people out.
Okay, let's, let's, uh,
not screw around too much.
I was amazed at the interview after where it was awesome
because they had up the clip of your brother and the ducks watching the fight.
You could tell you were a little emotional, but what was great is...
There is.
You have a quack with...
Quack, quack.
They owned my Oilers last year, so I'm owned by them and your brother's team.
But I love the part at the end where you were saying,
like, if I could have dreamed up my life, no barriers, like this is where I'd be right now.
So this has been a dream of yours for quite a long time, huh?
Oh, yeah, man.
I have been wanting to do this since the very first time I saw it on TV.
But I remember the first time watching it on TV at my buddy's house.
And I had kind of heard rumblings of like ultimate fighting and like UFC and stuff just at school.
And then I saw it on TV.
And I was like, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life.
Like I did you can do that.
You can just learn how to get into a cage and beat the shit out of people.
And it was like this on off switch of like, there's like a movie where, you know, the screen turns on and the character.
notices it and like everything else goes quiet and just like zooms in on the guy's face like that was
the moment for me it was like this is what I'm going to do with my life that's incredible and
took me a little while to start martial arts and try to figure out how to learn how to fight to
get there but it was just one track mind focused since I first saw it do you remember like which
fight and who it was there were two I think I remember which one was first but it was um
Vitor Belfort versus Marvin Eastman when Vitor
knees Marvin Eastman and gives him like a new eyebrow is the grossest cut I've ever seen and I thought it was so cool.
And Nate Corey versus Lodinson Kade on the Ultimate Fighter finale for season one.
And the cool thing is is when I fought in Montreal, Vitor Belfort was getting inducted into the Hall of Fame.
And I was on my way down to Wayans like all dehydrated, face all skinny, delirious, right?
And then he gets on the elevator and just like start going down.
I'm like, hey man, just so you know, like your fight with.
Marvin Eastman's the reason I wanted to become a fighter.
It seemed like a really, for him, he like really seemed to genuinely appreciate it because
it's probably a cool full circle moment for him, right, getting inducted in the Hall of Fame.
And then like, damn, my early fights not just made a kid start training, but like made a kid start
training.
And now he's fighting in one of the biggest fights on a UFC pay-per-view.
Like, that's pretty sick.
So it was a cool moment for me.
And then I won by knockout, which Vitor style.
So that's sweet.
That's right.
How old were you when you got into?
it because I know in the U.S. you either start boxing or wrestling or jiu-jitsu and then you kind of
bring all those together. Did you start with any of those first? Or you just kind of focused on being
a UFC fighter and everything that involves it? In my mind, I was focused on being a UFC fighter,
but I grew up in a kind of small, quiet town. We had like a karate gym or a taekwondo gym, and you
picked one of those two or two. I went to the Taekwondo gym and, you know, we did a bit of kickboxing.
We did a bit of jihitsu. Like most of the jihitsu that we did was I.
I had a 10th planet jih Tzu textbook and the guy who on the gym had like a BJ pen textbook.
And we just like flipped through and looked through stuff and tried it out.
But, you know, so it was like compared to today's training, it was very rudimentary.
But at the time, like, nobody knew anything.
Like there wasn't a mixed martial arts gym.
It was you go and do jihitsu at one gym or boxing at another or resting at another and you just get what you can.
And you just try to find a place to get fights.
I was just scrowned around to get like amateur kickboxing fights and stuff in high school and
jih Tornments and I think honestly the lack of accessibility just maybe want it more.
Like maybe if I had had all the access right off the bat, it almost would have like burnt me out.
The fact that I had to like seek it out so aggressively was like made me obsessed.
And with a nickname like the proper one, I can't imagine you were looking for street fights and stuff as a kid.
You seem like such a nice guy.
I mean, you always have a couple, like, scraps in the playground and stuff as a kid, but nothing really.
No, I wasn't really getting in too many fights, just trying to, yeah, trying to do this, trying to find kickboxing fights back when it was like by age category instead of by weight.
So I was a runt for my year.
So I'm like, oh, man, like I'm 14.
I'm fighting other 14 year olds.
That'll be cool.
And then like get in there.
You're like, holy crap, this kid's enormous.
This kid's got a biz nasty tattoo.
Yeah, exactly.
when you say that
like you saw it
and it was what you wanted to do
like to me I see UFC first time I saw
I'm like these guys are fucking crazy
I was the exact opposite
and I also thought
I wonder what like their parents say
like your say your mom for example
your dad like were they all into it
or were they like oh okay I guess we're going
this road dude they're like
just getting all into it now
like they're very supportive now
but man I wasn't
allowed to watch UFC in the house when I was like 15, 16. Like, I think when I was like 16, finally,
my parents were, my mom was like, all right, you can watch it. Like, you can have friends over and watch.
But I used to, I used to like go to Blockbuster, HMV and like buy UFC DVDs and like hide
them in my room and then wait until my parents went to bed and watch them.
Exactly, man. Keith was hiding Playboys. You were hiding knockouts.
Fox magazines under my bed. You're fucking UFC guys. I used to go to the, to the, to the, to the,
to the blockbuster and get like the ones where like it was like tank abbot was in them uh
yeah ken shamrock randy co tour yeah like all the all the old school guys you get in the vhss
man well it was just ridiculous because like tank abbot would come out and like obviously there
wasn't training like he was probably just doing street like bar fights because he had a barrel on
him like it looked like he was nine months pregnant just coming out and he would just start swinging
and then by like round two or like like five minutes into the fight he was
was so gassed out. Now,
there, I don't think that there were weight classes back then.
No, that's insane.
Yeah, which is crazy. And you're not like a traditional wrestler.
So when you started getting into this, like, and started cutting weight for the first time,
this must have, that must have been a pretty difficult experience to adjust to where you
walk the streets at 170, right?
Like right now?
Yeah, like, what do you walk the streets at?
Yeah.
200.
No, I'm close to 200.
I'm like, 199.
So then you fight at 170?
And yeah.
You're cutting 30 pounds.
You're going to each gob on us.
Buddy, you want to hear the weight cuts.
I mean, I started my first pro fight I was 19.
And again, I was a run.
So I was not fully grown until I was like 21, 22.
My first like real weight cut experience was my buddy and coach like booked me a fight.
They're like, yeah, we got you a fight.
I'm like, oh, cool.
What's the weight?
And they're like, it's a catch weight fight.
We couldn't get anyone if I get your weight class or you're fighting at 141 pounds.
And I was like, okay, like, how do I do that?
They're like, don't worry, man.
We'll help you through it.
We'll walk you through the process.
The walk you through the process was we'll lock you in the sauna and we won't let you out.
They was the most meatheaded.
At the time, nobody knew what was going on.
But I'm looking back now, like knowing how to cut weight and everything.
I'm like, dude, what the hell was that?
Like, literally coach standing, I can see the window of the sauna standing against the sauna door.
Like, you're not getting out.
I'm like, well, now I want to.
Like, if you would just leave, I could stay in here.
But now that I feel trapped, it's making it so much worse, dude.
So just, like, okay, night before weigh-ins, cut for like hours on the bike, on the treadmill and the sauna.
And then next day we're getting there at like 9 a.m.
and weigh-ins are at 5 p.m.
And we're just cutting weight all day.
Like at a good life-
How much can you lose in 24 hours leading up, say?
That one, I think I lost the most I've ever lost.
I think I lost like 17 pounds, 18 pounds, 17 pounds, something like that.
It was a decent amount.
Like, you know.
And then you're getting it back in though?
Like you're biting a 190.
It's the best, isn't it?
No, I mean, I was, yeah, I was a lot skinnier than.
But I was, yeah, I put a lot back on.
Like, I probably put at least 20 pounds back on that time, you know.
Does your energy just spike up from all of a sudden getting like water and like salt and
food in you?
Or are you so exhausted from the process?
that you're like going into the fight with not full energy.
Like how does your body feel like going from that much of a fluctuation or weight?
Dude, the first sip is the greatest thing you've ever tasted in your life.
And they have to tell you like, we're lucky where the UFC gives you like
rehydration kits and advice about it.
They're like, hey, this first shaker bottle takes you 20 minutes.
And you're like, this is 20 minutes.
I could drink this in 10 seconds.
I'm like, yeah, you're going to shit your pants if you do though.
So don't do that.
Like your body can't handle that.
it. So that, yeah, but that first sip is like the best thing you've ever had in your life.
I don't cut that crazy weight anymore. It's still never fun. Like by the time I hit, hit
171, I'm like, all right, I'm glad I'm on weight now. This sucks. But I mean, I could probably
cut a little bit more, but I'm at the point where two pounds isn't going to make the difference.
You know what I mean? I'm like, I just want to go in, make the weight feel good, rehydrate to a
comfortable weight and then get in there and do my thing. All right, this guy's got a
couple pounds on me like whatever or if i have a couple pounds on him that's not what's going to make
the difference like the guy's not going to get in there 20 pounds heavier than me and if they're somehow
cutting ridiculous weight and putting it back on like you said there's a detriment to that like if your
brains that dehydrated you're not taking punches the same way if your organs are that dehydrated
you're not taking body shots the same way like i've gone in there with my legs feeling absolutely
juiced before if i when i fought in montreal i had a bad rehydration and i couldn't get i couldn't
keep food or water down until like the night of weigh-ins.
And going out to the fight, my legs felt so, they felt like I had like a hard leg
day the day before.
And I was like getting my coach to like slap my legs before.
I'm like, fuck, man, I hope these things wake up and you get in there.
But yeah, it worked out.
Biz, by the way, I had never heard a tank Abbott.
So while he was chatting, I just, I mean, we've talked about, so we've talked about
hockey DB puts pictures of guys in their careers and some of them are very funny.
is the greatest.
It's incredible.
He looks like McFoly.
He has a hundred percent.
He looks like McFoly.
How did he get his shirt on over his neck?
His neck is massive.
I just had to bring up that picture.
That is, that is.
Mike,
another thing I noticed is,
I think a couple times,
you know,
at the way in,
at the excitement before the fight,
you go to shake the guy's hand
and you're not getting a shake back.
And it's probably,
yeah,
and you give it this one.
Well,
Buck was just pissed off.
He saw a guy in a Ryan Whitney.
jersey with the mic in his hands.
Did you notice that the guy had this
guy's jersey on?
Oh, did he really?
He was dehydrated.
Is that what he's wearing?
We weren't sure who it was.
If he worked for UFC or also like...
You have the mic on?
Yeah.
Oh, Brennan Fitzgerald.
He's the man.
He played at UMass or Boston U.
I can't remember.
He was like a hockey player too.
He's a beauty.
Bram Fitzgerald's the man, dude.
This is my guy.
Yeah, he's the man.
This is my guy.
I love that.
But when guys...
don't give you the handshake back. It's almost like you,
motherfucker, right? Like, you're just, all right,
that just fires you up a little bit extra.
Not even a little bit, man.
I do, I genuinely don't care what happens.
Like, it's, it's so funny to me. I'm like,
you can, you can shake my hand. We can be boys.
Like, I'll hang out with you tonight. I don't care.
And then tomorrow, I'm going to try to, like, break your leg and I'm going to try to
knock you out. Or you can, like, we can shove each other and get in each other's face.
I'm going to do the exact same thing to you tomorrow.
It doesn't matter.
Like my second UFC fight, I fought a guy that I'm actually friends with.
Like we'd train together before.
We just got the call where like I had a bunch of people say no or pull out.
And he just got calling himaster.
He's like, hey, man, sorry.
Like, you know, let's fight.
And then we'll have a beer after.
I was like, yeah, yeah, for sure, man.
Like, all good.
And I tried to.
You're alive.
I tried to try to put it on.
I mean, I ended up submitting.
I'm like, we didn't end up eating too many shots.
I submitted them pretty early, but still friends.
And then like I fought guys again,
won't shake my hand that talk crazy trash about me and Canada and all this stuff.
And I'm like, all right, man, like, I'm going to try to bounce your head off the canvas.
You're very patriotic.
Obviously, you always have the flag out and stuff like that.
So you have a lot of the American guys who are just like chirping you about Canada nonstop?
Sometimes, man.
I went down to before that Montreal fight.
It was right.
I was there right when Trump did the whole 51st state thing.
And a few of my friends are like, oh, I'm going to 50-year-state.
I'm like, you can fucking better not.
Oh, God.
So I believe, like, have the last five all been on Canadian soil?
Last seven, yeah.
Okay, so is there a reason that you haven't gone down to the States?
Is it a working visa situation?
No, no, I have citizenship.
I'm U.S. citizen as well.
I was born in the States.
So what's the backstory as to, like, why you fought the last seven in Canada?
or has it just worked out that way?
It's just worked out that way.
I think they've just taken my requests to fight in Canada and, you know, kind of obliged.
Also, you know, I put on some pretty good performances in Canada and the crowd gets behind it.
So I think they like kind of keeping me for that.
I mean, there's been times where I'm like, could we squeak one in before the next one?
But it just didn't make sense.
And then there was another one where I got an offer, but I was injured.
And I'm like, okay, I want to be, you know, I'm hurt right now.
I'm not taking this fight.
I'll wait until the next Canadian card.
I mean, obviously, like, they make the call.
If they're like, hey, man, we want you to fight in Vegas or whatever, then that's their call.
But, dude, if I could just fight all the rest of my fights in Canada, I 100% would.
It's so much better.
I love it.
Like, you know, not that it really changes anything that actually happens in the Octagon, but the lead-up feels so much bigger.
The lockout feels so much bigger, knocking somebody out or submitting.
somebody and then hearing the crowd afterwards is like it's insane man i'm like this is the coolest
thing in the world after that last fight mark goddard the ref ripped me off of them i just kind of
spin around and land on my knees and i'm just like face to face with dana and hunter campbell and
sean shelby the guys that run the ufc and dana stands up and takes his headphones off and i
watched the video back of i'm like what did he say and i like kind of did the read his lips and he just
like stands up takes his headphones off and goes holy fucking shit kid
And I was just like, yeah, man, this is unreal.
Like went over and thanked them and talked to them for a second.
And just like, thanks for putting this on.
Let me be the main event, man.
This is the coolest thing that's ever happened to me.
Did you get the knockout bonus?
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
In Canadian dollars or U.S.?
No, no, no.
U.S. baby.
Yes.
That's when he uses his U.S. citizenship.
Exactly.
Yeah.
That's, I cash in on the American.
The only time he goes to the States is the deposit is checks.
But I was reading, like, it has you ranked between like eighth or tenth in your division now at this point.
So clearly with that knockout on Bach, like now all of a sudden there's even more noise.
I noticed that your Instagram following went from like 100,000 to like 130.
So obviously that popularity does help with like getting bigger, better matchups with more money on the table.
where does this put you now in the rankings and when at what point could you potentially get a title fight?
Yeah. So we've kind of got two ranking systems now, which is strange. Like you said, one has me at eight and one has me at 10, which means I only acknowledge the eight because it's higher. So I just say that I'm ranked eight in the world.
So I mean, it depends, right? That's a great question. I don't know. It depends on the next matchup. And it depends how much they want to push me. Like do I fight a guy who's like,
or seven next and win that and then fight one more and then get a title shot or do I jump right up to
one of the like top ranked guys and win that fight and get a title shot off of that. I don't know.
There's a lot of traffic in our division in that there are a couple of guys that have basically
earned a title shot. So I don't know what the UFC's going to do, especially with the quick
turnaround most likely in January. Like I haven't gotten confirmation on that yet, but I assume I'm going
to be fighting in January. That's what I want to do. I genuinely don't know who they're going to give me.
And I genuinely don't care. I'm at a point now where it's like, every one of these guys ahead of me is
tough. And I think the rankings are pretty fair as far as like the higher you get, the tougher they get.
And I'm just so confident I can beat any one of these guys. Wow. Good for you. I don't, I don't care
who it is. Just I want a guy ahead of me for January. When you, when you watch the NHL, like, when I played,
you learn stuff from guys that you're watching or playing against.
Is that similar?
Like, you know, if you're not on a card, you're watching that night.
Are you taking things that other fighters have, whether it's training with them or just watching?
Oh, 100%.
Yeah, there's things I've stolen from guys that I've fought and getting ready for the fight.
Either stole it for that fight or for the future.
You know, I knocked the guy out, Charles Racky, who's got like a really nice left hook and he throws it in a particular way.
And I knocked him out with that punch.
just kind of watching him
and I kind of changed things up a little bit on
I'm like okay that's actually kind of sick
like I'm going to do that instead
or try that out but yeah
everyone that I fight I try and steal some stuff from
and then just studying the game
because this is such a unique game
it's like what's the best style for him then
I'm like dude depends on the day
like depends on the fight you know
there's champs that are short and stocky
there's champs that are like long and wiry
There's like explosive guys.
There's like slow twitch marauders who just walk you down for 25 minutes.
It's like it doesn't, it's not that it doesn't matter, but like you can, the cool thing about MMA is you can make almost anything work.
Like there's weird body types that end up becoming unbelievable.
Like Max Holloway holds the record for most punches, like strikes landed.
And proportionately he's got like a pretty small reach.
He doesn't have like lead.
Think it's like a guy who's got like stretch arm strong.
He's like no, he's like kind of got short arms for his for his body.
and he still dice his guys up.
I guess that's super cool, super cool sport to study
because you can just take whatever you want
and just be like, dude, this is what I want to be,
this is how I want to fight, and this is my style.
Yeah, I saw one of your knockouts.
It was against a guy had dreadlocks
and the guy that was explaining it,
you know, got in a rabbit hole of your fights yesterday,
but you like fake the leg kicked
and then the guy squared up and then you just blasted them.
But they had shown another guy do that to the same guy
to fight before.
So you could tell, like, because the video is important.
Like obviously during a fight, it's a lot of read and react, I would imagine.
But sometimes you are setting guys up for things like that in the middle of a fight.
Oh, for sure.
Yeah, you're setting guys up for stuff the whole time, right?
I mean, you're trying to find your openings and stick to what works.
Like, there's a lot that I'm good at that I didn't use on Saturday night.
Everyone was talking about the takedowns and the wrestling and how, like, grappling was probably going to be the path to victory.
And maybe it could have gotten there had, you know, it was a 25 minute fight, man.
We were only like seven minutes in.
We're just getting to know each other.
We're just getting comfy, man.
This isn't like a sprint.
This is a marathon, right?
It's a marathon full of sprints is what it is.
So it's like, it's a lot.
So there's a ton of stuff that I could have used.
But I'm just trying to find the most efficient way to do it.
I'm like, dude, I've got this guy's timing down.
I'm timing them.
I'm cracking him.
Like stick with this and then adjust if you need.
too, but yeah, man, there's so much that you can do in this sport.
Yeah, like, you want to set traps, obviously, and there's stuff that you have preset before the fight.
Okay, I think this will work.
I think this will work.
I think this will work.
And then sometimes you get in there and you're like, that's not working at all the way I expected to.
Like, I have to be able to call an audible.
And I think that's one of the biggest makers or indicators of somebody who's going to go somewhere in the sport.
Because there are fights where you see high-level guys, clear.
have something pre-planned and prepared.
And when it doesn't work and they don't adjust at all, you're like, oh, man, you're going
to get smoked.
Like, you're just doing what you prepared to do and you're not able to say, like, okay, that's
not working.
We're switching to this.
I'm going to do this instead.
I'm going to do something completely different.
But it's also the balance.
Do you have something prepared and it doesn't work at first?
So you throw everything out the window and you just like brawl and panic and do something
completely different.
And then that breaks you.
It's like you have to find the middle ground, right?
It's a weird sport like that.
It's almost that you've got to be able to just kind of stay so calm in the moment,
let alone there's fucking punches zipping by your ear and kicks.
And kicks, yeah.
Zipping by your ear head all the time.
What I was going to ask you was you talked about how you, you said, you mentioned you started
with taekwondo.
Like, obviously as you've progressed and you see all these guys where they have like a
striking coach, they have like a power coach, like a grappling.
Like, could you bring us through like a training camp of like what type of.
of classes that you have to go to in order to learn all these different, these different techniques
in order to prepare yourself for as you keep climbing because you just kind of talked about,
like, I know the guys at the top don't scare you, but some of these guys in some of these,
like, when they got you on the ground, like, they could snap your ankle in two seconds.
So what are you doing in order to prepare for all these skill sets?
That's a good question.
So this was a really cool training camp and that this was the first time we did it like this.
I train at multiple gyms still where I have my striking coach.
I have my wrestling coach, my jih Tzu coach, and my MFA coach.
So there's three different gyms.
My wrestling coach and MMA coach are at one gym and then a jihitsu coach at a different one and strike and coach at a different one.
And I've usually jump around between the gyms.
The coaches all agree to like make the sacrifice and show up at my main MMA gym pretty much every day and just come to watch me.
So there's like MMA team practices, but my coaches primarily I'd have like two to four of them just watch.
me being like, we're doing this today, you're doing this. This was, we were having troubles
with this yesterday. Let's work on fixing that or that was working really well. Let's build off of it.
Let's do this. Your opponent tends to do these things. Let's, let's plan for this and get the feeling
of it and counter it so that we're not adjusting in the fight for the first time. Like, you're not
just seeing those blitzes or something the way that he charges for it. You're not seeing that for
the first time on fight night. So the difference for me like outside of training camp and in training
camp. I train more volume. I train more outside of camp. So I have more volume. So I do more
sessions, more like longer rounds, pretty much more like playful, but like lots of grappling,
lots of jih Tzu, lots of sparring, and then lots of like cardio and conditioning outside of training.
But it's like more playful. I'm like, okay, let me try and learn this new thing. Let me try and add
something new to my game. When we were like the final six weeks, it was less volume, but the
intensity was through the fucking roof.
Like that was the hardest I've ever trained for a fight.
And then also all the coaches are there every day instead of me going to a bunch of
different gyms and them all trying to push me like crazy and me just getting burnt out.
They're like, okay, Mike has gone crazy the last two days.
Let's really ease off a bit today.
And then we'll spar again tomorrow and then we'll, you know, do the wrestling the day after.
Like, okay, let's, everyone was more coordinated.
Every session was MMA based as well where it wasn't like the,
We're going to do jih Tjitsu today or wrestling or whatever.
It's like we'd have focuses.
Like it's a more grappling MMA session, but it's MMA.
If we, you know, if you break from the wrestling, we're right back to striking like
Shadow Spar for a bit and then back to the wrestling.
Like keep it as close to what we can do or keep it as close to what we're going to do as
possible while trying our best to keep it safe because this is a weird sport where it's not
like other sports where you can just play the game.
then go and do the game. Because if you do a full out
MMA fight every day getting ready for your fight, you're going to
die. You can't have an actual full MMA fight every day
for six weeks. You're in the hospital after a week.
It kind of shows, though, that you, with an individual sport,
it's still a lot of the, it's a, it's a team that puts it all
together for you. And I think people look at it as a one-on-one in the cage.
It's like, dude, I got all these different coaches. I got guys I spar with.
So it matters like the team around you.
Yeah, man.
And how they work together as well.
Because like you said,
like they're not pulling you in different directions and they have one game plan for you.
Yeah.
And it's all,
yeah,
it's all.
Yeah, it's all like,
okay,
how can we get Mikey ready for this?
Like not,
I want to be the star of the show and I want to,
like everyone's works really well together.
And then I've got a great team as far as training partners and other fighters at the gym that
are just beauties.
Like I've always loved the like,
hang with the boys in the locker room type thing.
Like that's always been important to me.
And I still get to have that with fighting.
You know,
like those are still my good buddies.
And like that's my social time as well.
Like I go and work my ass off.
But I also get to hang out with the boys at the gym every day.
So yeah,
that's sick.
Were you ever one of those guys that were brought in to help another guy train for a fight?
Because you hear stories of guys getting their break from,
you know,
coming in training with a guy and then he puts on a good show.
Well, Anne, we got word that you do help coach some guys.
I coached for a long time.
I took like three years off competing in MMA.
Actually, it was almost four years off competing in MMA and was a full-time coach.
I didn't want to fight anymore from like 26 to 29 almost or something like that.
Honestly, like I was so one-track focused since I was like 12 or 13 when I first saw it on TV.
And that was like what I did.
I didn't go out really.
I didn't like hang out with friends a whole lot.
I just trained and I think I just kind of burnt myself out and you know you just like it kind of like got away from me for a little bit where I just was like you know what I just I'm not excited by the idea of fighting right now.
I was about to like I was looking for a fight and I'm like okay if I win this then maybe I go to the UFC and I got to the point where I was like I don't even want to go to the UFC right now.
So I just coached for a little bit.
Like luckily,
you're at F.
A braffered me a job coaching on the team
and a bunch of the guys wanted to work with me
down at Alpha Mail in Sacramento.
And so I got to stay in there.
I was at the gym all day, every day.
It was awesome.
I was like competing in jihitsu
and first time ever like lifting weights and stuff
and just like focused on grappling a lot more.
And then it kind of came back that fire
while I was like at these fights.
And I'd spent so much time just like focused on
the strategic and technical
sides of the M&A that it leveled me up like crazy. And when I came back, I won one fight and then
got a shot on Contender Series. Wow. So that's how you're able to kind of categorize all this stuff.
I would imagine that that's a big portion of the challenge is like just figuring out,
mapping out that game plan and sticking to it leading into these fights. That's,
that's pretty cool, man. That's awesome. Yeah, you found the fire again. There was one other question
before we talked about the coaching. I can't remember what it was, but, yeah. All about guys coming in to
were you one of those guys that went in and
basically a higher guy that got beat up?
Well, that was one of the times
when I was down at Alpha Mail.
I was sparring
with the guy and got like a little cut on my eye.
I spar with Josh Emmett,
who's like one of the top feather weights in the world.
He's a beast, absolute nail gun.
Sparring with him got clashed heads and got a cut.
And then Chad Mendez, who fought for a bunch of UFC world titles
came up to me after he said, hey man, do you want to spar tomorrow?
I'm like, I don't know.
I have a cut.
He's like, okay, next camp.
camp. I'm like, why what's going on? You get a fight? He's like, well, yeah, Jose Aldo just hurt his
ribs. So he's out of the Conner McGregor fight. So I'm in, like, I'm fighting McGregor in two weeks
whatever. I'll figure it out. I'll tape it. I'll glue it. So I just went and got like new skin
and like glued it and then put a bunch of acylene over it. I'm like, yeah, I'll spar. Like,
I don't care that I'm cut. I don't care if it opens up. Like, I want to help you get ready for
for McGregor. So gave him a bunch of rounds. Like, I wasn't good at Southpaw at the time,
but I was going Southball and I was trying to talk trash to him. So we like, you know, we're like,
fuck spawn.
Come on, you fucking pussy.
Let's go.
Like, just like talking to him while I'm going.
And this dude's trying to take my head off.
I'm like, dude, I should shut up right now.
That, so, yeah, that was kind of going to be one of my questions was, uh, there's a lot of
like ego and testosterone in this sport.
What are some of the wildest things that you've witnessed behind the scenes, whether it's
like when you've gone to one of these UFC fights, like maybe guys are like somehow
breaking out and fight in the hallway or, or guys maybe bitching with Dana about
purses and what they're making like what's it like behind the scenes at the ufc and maybe some of the
stuff that like that we're not seeing honestly i feel like m a for the most part at least where i've
trained is a really good douchebag filter where like to get good at this you have to you're getting
your ass kick for a while you're getting jumped into m m mary and if you're like a guy who's if you're a
douche and you're you're like, think you're the man and you're a bully and you're this and that.
And then some scrawny, dorky looking dude who's just been doing an MMA for five years ties you in a knot again and again and again.
You either quit or you you chill out for the most part.
Like there's still egos in this and there are still guys that talk.
But I'd say for the most part, most of the guys in this sport are good people.
it usually if they are still kind of duchess it it usually chills out i had a buddy who uh i love them now
we're actually like really good friends but i stayed with them for a while at when i first moved
down to alpha male he like housed guys and like we almost fought in his house i was like dude what
is wrong with this guy he was just an absolute spas and then he like kind of chilled out eventually
he had like a a big health scare and who's like i've been kind of an asshole having
And I'm like, yeah, man, no kidding.
Yeah, you sucked.
And he's like, all right, yeah, I'm going to chill out.
Now he's like the biggest sweetheart.
I saw it.
So leading up to your fight, your brother Jeff, fights Adam Clapcon, Calgary, who's a big
dude.
And your brother, like, he makes it as an NHL regular last year at 29, was the captain at
Cornell, which is a legendary program, grinds it out in the minors, has some big years.
One, how cool is it for you to see him reach the NHL, reach his goal?
And two, did you ever play hockey?
Dude, it's so cool watching him
plays, live his dreams
in especially because it wasn't like he was
you know a kid at whatever
a kid that got drafted and you're like, okay,
he's definitely going to the show.
Right, like he was always sick.
Like you said, Captain of Cornell,
great opportunity there.
COVID hit during their like championship run.
They were number one in the country that year.
Yeah, man.
So it was like that was a huge hit.
It's like, okay, you're captain of Cornell
for the best team in the league right now.
That could be big opportunities.
So that was a big hit.
But he's just grinded away and just one of those guys who just doesn't shy away from hard work.
He's just like a steam engine man.
He just keeps working.
And so, yeah, super cool to see him make it and make it full time now.
But yeah, I always, my first goal was to be in the NHL.
I loved playing hockey.
But I was like a third, fourth line, AE superstar, man.
I was trash.
I sucked at hockey.
I just couldn't get it, man.
No skill or no skating.
Oh, I can skate.
Okay.
I just, dude.
I just didn't get it, man.
I did not get like where any.
I'm like, what do you mean?
It's not just about me.
What are you talking about?
Like, I can't just like, I can't just take the puck and deek everybody out and like go down
and school.
Like fighting as soon as I started fighting, I'm sure I was not as good as I thought I was.
But it always got like it came to me.
I'm like, yeah, I get this.
This makes sense to me.
Hockey.
I was just like, why am I not constantly scoring goals?
I don't get this.
I saw an interview.
that you said, you know, kind of like what was saying, your brother had fought that week to kind of fire you up for that fight. Was that something you guys talked about? Because the legendary story with the Bogosian brothers, one was in a Navy SEAL at the time. And his commanding officer said, if your brother gets into a fight, then you guys can have a day off. And he ended up getting into a fight. So the guys in the Navy SEALs got the day off. So I was wondering if you guys had talked about it. We didn't talk about it before, but I sent him, we kind of FaceTime, I sent it a message after.
And just was like, hey man, I know you're trying to fire the team up by fighting,
but I feel like you're trying to fire me up to it.
And he's kind of like, give me the link back, you know?
You're the man, buddy.
Let's go.
And he picks about the biggest guy you could find too.
My brother's 6-4, 210, 212.
And I'm watching this fight.
I'm like, this guy's dwarfed.
Huge.
This guy's way bigger than you.
That's crazy.
This guy's a monster.
He kind of went for like a leg take down at one point, too.
Did you see it, Phiz?
Yeah.
Like, as long as he's not doing the fucking roundhouse kicks.
with the blades on.
I was going to ask you as a Canadian,
like,
you know,
I'm not the most hardcore UFC guy,
but during JSP's era,
I was always dialed in.
Like, you know,
he,
he kind of like,
like as far as Canadians,
like he's the goat.
And I believe at his weight class,
he might even be one of the goats, right?
Or he's the best,
what is my weight class.
He's the best world to rate ever.
Ever,
yeah,
right?
Hands down.
Hand,
like no,
obviously,
no close second.
So is,
is he someone that you look up to
and have you had an opportunity?
need to like get the train with him and and just converse and kind of pick his brain like looking up to him
and being a legend that he is. Oh yeah man. I had like I met him when I was in high school and got an
autograph from. I had that like poster on my wall until I was like throughout college. Like I I've always
had that on my wall been such a huge fan of the guy. The UFC put us in touch gave each other what gave us
each other's phone numbers and he FaceTime me you know one time and we chatted for a bit and you know
shoot texts every once in a while and stuff.
But we filmed a commercial for skilled trades
college like a year ago.
And so I got to hang out with him for the day.
I'm like, all right, man.
I'm like sitting sliding at lunch.
I'm picking this guy's brain as much as I can.
I'm like, come on.
Give me some little nuggets of gold here, man.
And then also just getting to hang out with him.
Like he's the man.
Yeah, he's like super down to earth.
He doesn't seem like he doesn't act like he's the greatest of all time.
He's just like a dude hanging out.
So yeah, super cool getting to hang out with him.
That's awesome.
I saw, what is his name?
Ariel Hen, he's like the number one podcaster for the UFC, right?
Ariel Helwani, yeah.
Yeah, so I always see a lot of you guys, like, you're going on there.
There's great quotes to come out of there.
And the one I saw from you was, I think I'm the best welterweight in the world.
I want to fight Michael Morales next.
Is that guy ranked number one or is he just above you in a way?
Well, that's definitely not a quote because I didn't call anyone.
So that's kind of nuts that.
Yeah, I think I'm the best
Walter White in the world.
I want to fight against Michael Morales next.
Mike Mallat via the Ariel Hermione show.
I said I'm the best well.
I said I think I'm the best welterweight in the world
and I'm ready to prove it or something like that.
Yeah, which you fucking,
you gotta have that mentality.
Didn't you say I'm not one to call guys out?
I've never, I've never called anyone.
I'm not going to.
So I'm not starting with it there.
Okay.
I think I think that's just the classic like social media.
Like, it'd be a lot cooler if you said that.
I'll just say he down.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Put that enough there, you know?
Wow.
I want, holy feeling.
Like, it's not what you said.
It's what people say you said.
You,
you mentioned, like,
which is crazy that you, like,
there's,
there's no fear component.
Like, you look at everybody ahead of you
and you're like,
I'm not scared.
I would fight that guy at the drop of a dime.
Oh, I didn't say there's no fear.
Oh, okay.
I didn't say there's no fear.
Yeah.
So, so you get that feeling then?
Buddy, you just got to fight with it.
You got to rock with it.
It's all good, man.
You got to figure out to put a leash on that wolf
and let her go when she's ready to go.
But that's the tough part about MAA is you see guys that don't have the control of it.
You see guys that are killers in the gym and just don't know how to deal with fight day emotions.
They don't know how to deal with being in front of a crowd.
They don't know how to deal with the expectations.
They don't know how to deal with, you know, media talking about them and letting people down and all these things.
It's like you don't just like nobody's immune to it.
It's just you have to figure out how to continue to fight.
with it and get the most out of yourself.
Like I'm, I am thankfully one of those guys who when I get in front of a big crowd of people,
I'm like, it's go time, baby, I'm ready to go.
I don't shy away from that.
If anything, I rise when that happens.
And that's a good feeling to know I can fall back on.
Outside of that, outside of that where you just mentioned, like, do you like speak with like a
sports psychologist or anything, anybody else in order?
to kind of hone everything that you just mentioned there.
Oh yeah, yeah, I've been working on my mental coach, Danny Patterson, for 13 years.
Yeah, he's been working.
He works with a bunch of NHL players.
He works with a bunch of UFC fighters.
He works with a ton of people.
I think of it like any other skill, man.
Like you need to learn how to grapple, how to strike, how to, you know, you need you to do conditioning or strength training or whatever.
It's like you need to work on your mind too, right?
because you don't want that to be the weak link, right?
You don't want that to be the chink in the armor.
That's, it's important to understand yourself and understand what you need.
I'm like, I'm not the guy who like listens to David Goggins videos on the way out to the arena.
You know what I mean?
Like, that's just not who I am.
You get some guys, they need that.
Some guys need like, you know, pump up music and this.
And I'm like, I'm not that guy, man.
I just need to get in my zone and just hang out there.
You mentioned that no fear going into a fight.
And I always wondered this with the UFC and even boxing.
Like what does your wife think during these fights?
Like that's got to be a mental battle for her, no?
She's a soldier, man.
She does not like it.
It's rough.
I remember my UFC debut.
She stayed with me in my hotel room for the night before the fight.
Just like, all right, like, I'm, we, and I'm comfortable with that.
It'd be nice to have you there.
We both wake up fight morning.
She's like, okay, how are you feeling?
I'm like, I'm buzzing.
in a little bit. I go, you know, they're, they're fluttering around in there, but I'm, I'm good to go. Like,
I'll be all right. Just now it's the waiting game. I'm going to sit around and wait for 10 hours,
basically. She's like, oh, wait, cool. I'm just going to run to the bathroom. And we're in a hotel room,
like the bathroom walls are paper thin, right? So she goes to the bathroom. She's like, I'll just be
out of that goes to the bathroom. She's just like puke and she's so nervous. She comes out
the bathroom. I'm like, you good? You're good? She's like, oh yeah, I'm good. You need
anything? I'm like, I can hear everything in there. She's like, oh, my God.
I didn't want to freak you open.
I'm so scared.
I'm so nervous.
I'm like,
I'm like,
honestly,
I'm not there right now.
So I feel like being a little bit better.
I'm like,
well,
you're more scared than I.
Like,
you're more nervous than I am.
So,
all right.
Like,
at least there's,
there's further to go than where I am right now.
So it was,
it was kind of funny,
but we learned that not to have her stay with me anymore for four fights.
Who currently has the belt in your weight clothed?
Islam Makashev.
He's,
really,
solid Dagestani Russian combat ensemble guy.
He was the lightweight champ for a long time and then moved up recently to Welterweight.
Absolute beast.
Just a unit.
Is he a Kabib?
Is he a Kabib guy?
Yeah.
They're like their boys.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So they're just good at the on the ground.
They're the,
two, three days,
Dagestan.
He's a solid.
He's a solid.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
He's a solid striker too, man.
He's good everywhere.
He's a solid fighter.
when I get there, like, I put my money on me, though.
Hell yeah.
I got Roeback last question here. Use code chicklets on rowback.com for 20% off through your first purchase the end of the week.
That's R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com. Use C-H-I-C-L-E-T-S.
So when you're finished a fight, right?
So this was Saturday night.
How many days are you taken off?
And then when you get going again, are you averaging three to four hours a day?
Is it more?
And also, like, diet-wise, are you?
ever having like cheat days or anything or you just dialed in with like all aspects of your life
and what you're preparing yourself for. I mean, I've been having some cheat meals and stuff here.
I've been a couple of bruskeys found their ways in, you know, last couple of days.
But it snuck past the defense. They snuck past the defense. But, but, you know, yeah, I mean,
I'll enjoy some good food. It was Thanksgiving in Canada the week before my fight. So my in
I've always brought some, kindly brought some apple pie over when I'm a few days out from
Wayans.
So they're like, I'll save you a slice.
So there's one in that.
There's one in the freezers.
Yeah.
I have a blizzard in front of you, Reese's Blizzard.
Oh, one bite.
We always joke about it.
Like, you sure you want us coming over for Thanksgiving?
I'm like, I like the, the like one family day before I go off to war just to like,
all right, man.
Like, you know, just I like that.
column nest before the fight. But yeah, so I absolutely dummied that pie. Yeah, man, just, I mean,
I always eat pretty healthy, but I indulge a little bit more after fights. I was back at the gym
yesterday, not like going crazy or anything, but like there's practice. I go on and watch the guys
the last two days and yesterday just started kicking the bag and hitting the bag a little bit while
I'm watching practice and just like playing, like just having fun and just trying to work on a couple
new things. I'm like, oh, this would be cool to add in or, you know, just add a few things in.
Going on vacation next week. I got my, finally, my honeymoon with my wife two years late.
But we finally got that all set up.
Shut up to Dana for the bonus.
Where are you going?
Yeah, buddy. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, honeymoon brought to you by the UFC.
But, yeah, we're, yeah, going to go to Greece for a week and then getting back to her.
Good time to go, too, because it's not all a bunch of tourists.
Like, it's nice to go in the off season, right?
Oh, yeah, not to be great.
Yeah.
And I don't know if we asked you, so where do you reside right now when you're training
and everything?
I live in Fondhill, Ontario.
I'm about 15 minutes from Niagara Falls.
So, buddy, I'm from Welland.
That's where.
Are you really?
Yeah.
That's fucking crazy.
Buddy, I'm two minutes from Welland.
Like, I can almost see it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I also got my place there.
There's some great water towers there.
And this was a big shit about the water.
The Welland Canal, one of the straightest.
Welland is a good time, man.
Yeah.
Biz was a bouncer at the sundowner, so he's got some experience in the grappling
with guys who are misbehaving.
Rappling with girls.
Yeah, that's where I got my, my nasty tattoo, one of the girls had a side gig.
But hey, we appreciate your time.
This was awesome, man.
I got one last one.
Oh, sorry.
For his next fight, what would we have to pay to maybe get you in a chickletch jersey walking out?
Oh, my.
Chicklet's jersey?
Walking out?
You got to talk to Uncle Dana about that one.
Hey.
Oh, he makes the calls.
Oh yeah, you're not just wearing what you want to wear.
Whatever we give him, he's going to be bedded at a backer at table.
And I think three minutes later.
You should be able to like wear out.
You should be able to make money on the side for sponsors of what you wear out.
But I know you're not going against anything Dana says.
But that's a thought I just had.
But man, Biz said it best.
Like you got three big fans here, like so impressed by you and what you've accomplished and living out a dream.
So thanks for joining the show, man.
And congrats again on the last fight.
Thank you so much.
Appreciate you boys having me on.
is hit me up next time you're in Rolland Bam.
We should do a little video.
I go in there.
You can put me in an arm bar.
Let's go, boy.
Let's do it.
Let's do it.
This is awesome.
Thanks again, man.
Pinky's up.
That's right.
Pink Whitney.
Go get a bottle of Pink Whitney right now or Mickey or a bunch of the shots,
the shooters, as we like to call him, and have a pink Whitney.
It's a little colder out now.
I believe it's 51 degrees right now and outside Boston, Massachusetts.
Phil, it you warm up well with a Pink Whitney.
Quick nip, playing golf, outside doing yard work.
Whatever you're doing, Pink Whitney's there for you.
Pinky's up is the rallying cry to the group.
It means it's time for Pink Whitney shots.
Shout out Pink Whitney.
We love you all for trying it, drinking it, enjoying it.
And if you haven't, give it a shot, Pinky's Up.

Great guy.
Pretty cool story to be where he's at
after taking a few years off to coach.
So we really appreciate him taking time.
And good luck to him in the future.
I'll be tuning in all his fights.
Let's bring in R.A. right now.
I need a little wardhog world.
Hello.
Everybody, welcome to R.A.'s world.
Here on the spit and chick with the podcast,
I got to get a new plug kid.
He keeps effing up on me.
What's going on, fellas?
Misses earlier in the week.
I'll recover from the Chicklets Cup.
Oh, yeah,
R.A.
Also, we were fine.
Like, we didn't need to recover.
Two weeks ago.
We didn't bring up earlier.
Bruins looked great,
but Ronan and just running their show
the other night.
You lost to Rontonin.
Yeah, a tough game, tough loss.
Swamen played out of his mind.
You know, I think, you know,
the last game of a trip,
I think they got what,
eight out of nine possible points out
or whatever it was.
A successful trip,
it would have been great to get that W.
I thought that penalty in overtime was a shit call.
I was a stick check from Zaka.
Usually when they break the stick, they call it,
but I thought there was a real chinty call to make at that point in the game.
Ended up being the difference.
Yeah, right in the game, but whatever, they're coming home.
A couple, they got the president tonight, Celebrini's in this weekend.
So, yeah, I feeling great about the bees, man.
Like I said last time, and they just three up the Bruce Nadinoff too.
That's a sweet deal.
Three years, 11.9 mil.
They got them for under 4 million a year.
I love this kid's game.
I love his versatility.
down the lineup. Nice speed and plus what they picked them up for in Minnesota. It feels like
Minnesota gave up on them early. So, uh, yeah, good, good time to be a beast fan right now.
I think they're third overall in the league with a couple games to hand on teams above them.
So yeah, good time to be a beat. I'm starting to gain a soft spot for them, R.A.
So what happens come the weekend when Celebrini's in town? Do you wear your
shark's jersey to the game? Um, bring it for sure. I don't, you know, if, uh, if I was a freshman in
college maybe it might not be as snug it's i mean it fits but it's a little form fitting and um
you know if it was i mean i appreciate having it but i don't know if i'd wear it because
it's like it's a little snug i'm gonna put that in a frame but um yeah and i typically don't
wear three even the jerseys i have because you know i like to keep in good shape you know
i don't spill a beer if i get mustard with a pretzel forget about it's an official meal
once i get mustard on shit so speaking of beer i was dying laughing i saw a clip of you
coaching the six one seven locals
and remembering back to you saying how much you have the coaching bug, itch and stuff.
And the clip is you with a beer on the bench just sitting there drinking the beer while coaching.
There might be an open spot in Columbus soon here.
And the only reason Keith's legit, like when all the girls got there,
they were getting ready, they all had a brusky in front of them.
So as a coach, I felt like, you know, they had set the tone.
I better fall up with them.
Oh, it's speaking of 617 locals, uh, Frankie,
Freelick, the girl who played for us. Her brother, Sally's in the World Series.
So, uh, Chicklets, man, he's, he sent me a DM the other day.
The kid in the Brewers, he's a big Chicklets fan.
He was psyched that I coached the sister and the gal.
So he wanted to make sure that Chickles is with the brew crew for this World Series.
I told me 100%.
Oh, I'm all over the brew crew crew. Did you see the Forever ticket that they sold years ago?
Yeah.
Fiz, did you see this?
Which one?
The Brewers had sold. I don't know what year this was, but they were bad.
and they sold a $1,000 forever ticket where you buy it
and then you pick any game ever and you're going.
So all these people that bought it,
they're obviously now in the World Series
for the first time in 40 years.
And I think there's a beef going on where I don't know,
I think they're getting the timeless ticket it was called.
It was 2015.
People paid a thousand bucks.
And now I think they're being put up in the nosebleed,
some of them.
Standing room.
Okay.
So are these.
season, if you're a season ticket holder,
if you bought that,
you should get your fucking normal seat
that you buy for regular season.
Like that should be the stipulation.
If you're just some regular fan who paid it,
I mean,
it was like at the time,
like, what are they supposed to do?
Where are they supposed to put them?
Yeah, I don't.
You got to keep room.
Yeah.
They should have thought about that.
Well,
they're getting a seat in the building.
No, they're getting like standing room only,
they're saying.
I think it might have just been,
for non-season ticket holders because if you got season tickets,
you know,
you get first dibs on buying tickets.
So, but,
but,
but,
I know, but I'm saying,
but you,
I think the thing is,
is like,
you pay a thousand dollars for a ticket.
The whole premise of this is like,
legit.
If they make the world series,
you got the golden ticket.
Like that's what the score.
So give them a seat at least.
And a good seat.
Yeah.
I would say that if you,
if,
even if it's standing room only,
they got to deck these people out with like gear and like hook them up.
get them some signed baseball bats.
But like what would a Brewer
World Series ticket go for?
I mean, at least a thousand, I bet, right now at home.
Yeah, they haven't been in the World Series since 1982.
And yeah, there was a guy or a guy and his brother.
They weren't happy because they didn't like the seats.
But like, you know, I looked into it.
And it's the best available seats out of what seats that will be available.
Oh, that was in the fine print?
Huh?
Yeah.
That was in, yeah.
Okay, okay.
So that doesn't mean like best available in the park because you got to figure
MLB has like, like full, you know, season ticket holders, obviously.
But then major league baseball, it usually controls most of the ticket stock.
So like, I, you know, the guy was like, oh, you know, they thought they were going to be like in box seats.
I'm like, bro, they promise you a world series ticket.
You got a world series ticket.
Again, based on the availability of that particular lot of tickets.
So I don't know.
Also kind of a dumb fucking purchase in 2015, a thousand bucks is probably what, $2,000 now.
You could have gotten a really good seat for two grants.
So kind of a bad investment.
How many people bought these tickets?
How many people are trying to cash in on it?
I'm not sure.
But there was enough people, I guess, that belly ached about it,
where the brewers actually come out and said,
yeah, we're sorry for like the awful,
didn't say cluster fuck,
but we're sorry for a cluster fuck.
And we never thought we'd be in the World Series again.
And they're given, no, they're going to,
they're going to like basically extend it for people.
So they'll be able to get a ticket for later down the line.
I don't know if it's a playoff specific thing.
but yeah, because they got a little heat PI.
Are we not an agreement that's kind of a bad investment
because you could have just like kept that money
and then like bought your own World Series ticket?
Like I bet you could buy a ticket to get in the building
for under a grand, no?
I don't know.
Yeah, I don't know, man.
I mean, G looked it up last pot about the Oilers tickets,
which a few Oilers tickets DM me that we were like lying about the numbers
and G, like, no, we're not.
There were $70 upper-fold seats.
Gee, can we look at what the cheapest World Series ticket is right now?
The best deal.
Oh, I see a game, no, that's, that's Tropicana.
I'm seeing $2,0.245 bucks is the cheapest for game two right now.
Good investment.
But not, though, because if you kept that $1,000 then is probably worth too.
See what $1,000 in 2015 is worth now.
I don't think it doubled in 10 years.
thousand gas price to my own.
Inflation's been humming.
Yeah.
Yeah, humming.
That's usually a good thing about it.
$1,421.
Collap.
I just keep the money and buy your fucking own ticket.
Like, come on here.
What are we doing?
Was it just for one game?
You only get a one day.
Yeah, but these fans might have thought they'd be in the World Series in like 40 years.
And then it would be a great investment.
I would then keep the ticket.
I would say I'm not using it for this World Series.
No.
I'm putting it in my will.
Well, some teams then have their very first world series.
Tampa's never won when.
Milwaukee's never won one either.
And interesting games three and four down at the Trop.
The Trap holds a very interesting NHL record.
Most people probably would never guess the trivia.
The Trap has the NHL record for the largest playoff crowd ever in NHL history.
Because the Tampa, the Lightning actually played in that in the TROP for like one or two seasons.
It's a crazy place to play hockey, and they made the playoffs.
They played the flyers.
They've every first time in the playoffs.
Yeah, they got a banner in that biggest playoff proud ever.
I know a few people have chirped me recently about, oh, like, Biz just discovered the S&P 500.
Like, okay, first of all, it's funny.
But if you put that thousand in 2015 in the S&P, you'd have $4,618.
There you go.
You could buy seasons.
They fucking.
We got to, we got to figure out.
You're all over the Brewers fans.
You're a brewery stand.
I think that's a front office stand.
I think it's a ridiculous thing that like, but I'm happy they did it because now we
get to talk about it.
I want to know the most ridiculous things that sports organizations and fans have done slash
bought over the years.
What about like the American Airlines guy who spent like a hundred grand and flew everywhere?
But now he like uses all the miles.
The guy probably lives for free.
He bought a lifetime first class.
ticket on any flight and
I think they said it was worth
he ended up making like
800 grand on that how much he was doing it
I think he spent 500 grand on it didn't he?
No 100 grand I thought
even 500 grand like if you fly
once a week first class for a full year
that's 500 grand
I also think that
if you look back at dumb decisions
teams made they
they
handing out bats at baseball games
at one point in time doing bat night,
that probably wasn't a great idea.
Good to have in the car, though.
Everyone had it in their car.
So that all-time ticket for the flights for first class was $250,000.
Nowadays, like I said, if you flew a whole year once a week, first class,
like first, it's expensive with me.
Oh, yeah.
They launched that in 1981.
That was a dumb one.
Are you saying for like, imagine going to a Dodgers game
and they're giving out bats, you're saying like that's like,
that's a, I'm thinking the Bronx.
I'm thinking the Yankee Stadium at one point probably gave like bats away, bat night.
And, and you know, you're on the subway home and you see a guy with his head beating in by a Yankees mini bat they handed out.
And you're like, I don't know if they should have done that.
The dog night, which they still do is kind of crazy.
A bent to one.
Dog's shitting everywhere.
Dude, the funniest thing that they do during the bark at the park is they'll play the ring doorbell noise.
And all the dogs just start
Fucking losing it
It's the funniest thing of all time
Oh God
I want to do it at a gargall's game now
If a dog comes on the TV at our house
Yoshi full sprint from wherever he is
If he's looking at the TV
And jumps up, paws on the TV
And he's barking like
I thought it might end after like the puppy stage
Like no he just turned six
Yeah
No he just turned five
So he's whatever
or 32 years, 35 years old.
And he's,
he's slamming the TV with his paws,
barking like a madman at any,
any animal on TV.
Horse, bunny rabbit, doesn't matter.
I get yelled that on Twitter from Colorado Avalanche fans
because they have the late game.
And when Nate,
we talk about Nate dog and I bark,
the dogs at home will fare bark.
Yeah.
You just woke up my whole household
because you're barking like Nate McKinnick.
Oh.
I like the videos like when dogs, they're like watching a movie.
And you wonder how if they see it the way we see it.
But like they'll wicket intently focused.
There's one like Darth Vader shows up and the dog shits his pants and he runs behind the couch because he's scared of dog.
Had pants on?
Wawwaw.
Oh, this is so good.
All right.
I didn't like that joke.
I thought it was pretty good.
Took me a second.
All right.
You were rattled at that.
Your face.
Fuck your dog.
And you did your want, want, want, wah, wah, like that.
You did not like that.
No, that was good enough.
Dad joke just thrown up my head for a second.
But, because I think the best deal I ever got,
when a serious satellite radio first came out,
I want to say 2005,
it actually come out a year before Stern joined.
And they had a deal.
It was $500 for a lifetime membership.
You would never get a bill.
And I jumped right on it,
and they shut it down after like three days
because they sold so many of them.
They would take a bath on it.
So I paid $500 like 21 years ago for my serious satellite.
Never get a bill.
It still doesn't have a bill.
have a car to play the Sirius satellite.
That's a good deal. That's a good deal. That's a great deal.
That's an unreal deal. What are people paying a year now for serious? Probably 200.
Yeah, it's good shit. Just mentioned Tampa. We got to go back to them. How about Cooch?
He had a three-point night in Vegas the other night. He's tied for first place to Tampa's all-time
points of franchise history. He's got 1137 and just 800 and 88 games tied with Stamco's.
Stamco's got 1137 and 182 games.
So 194 fuel games, Cooch tied to Matt.
That's pretty impressive stuff for our future Hall of Fame.
Fucking rights.
Yeah, and playoffs, Cooch, 54 goals, 123 assists, 177 points and 159 games.
Stamma's got 101 points and 128 games.
So Cooch, I mean, yeah, pretty much a slam dunk Hall of Fame at this point.
Oh, yeah.
All-time greatest lightning player?
Is that what you're saying?
Yeah.
Oh, absolutely.
another cool highlight.
Cole Canoble got his
first two goals for the flies
with his dad there.
And the first one, he looked just like his dad
when he played.
I mean, you know, what, Rangers,
Philly, the Bruins out in front of the net,
just packing his caucus out front
getting a nice little goal.
So nice to see that one there.
All right.
G, when he was muted,
he just sent it over for bad ideas.
10 cent beer night in 1971
with the then Cleveland Indians.
60,000 beers were purchased.
Three of the bases
got stolen, 19 streakers.
There is only three.
And 50, there's four bases,
there's four.
No, it's a fucking plate.
It's not a base.
Fair enough.
50 cops were injured as well.
So I think the 10 cent beer night
went away after that one.
And Canoble's son,
he looks great.
I was looking up his, you know,
like elite prospects thing.
He played in the USHL,
Notre Dame, crushed it there.
He's not that old.
Usually you see, you know,
some of these guys played three-year,
junior three years of college.
I think he just turned 22 this, this summer.
So nice player they got there.
Biz, remember they used to have a dollar beer, dollar hot dog night in Arizona?
Oh.
Every time they'd have it, I'd get a phone call from my aunt Karen.
Keep deep.
I'm coming out next week.
Cheaper to me to fly out there, catch a game, have a couple beers and a dog,
then to go down to the Bruins game.
I'm like, all right, so she'd fly in for that game, beauty.
Boys, when I got there in my first year, if we wanted COD tickets, they charged us $5 a ticket.
Yeah, yeah, that's right.
I would have every cocktail server in Scottsdale at every fucking game.
Yeah, sure.
Come on down.
Come on.
I have a fucking 20 people there.
It costs me 100 bucks.
It's crazy.
And that was for, like if Crosby's in town, same thing?
No, usually like Tuesday versus.
Actually, no, for the tickets, yes.
For the first year or two, every year I was there, it went up five bucks.
So year or two, they went 10, which like, fuck, okay.
And I think by like year two or three, by the time when we started having marquee games,
then they like when Detroit, Chicago, yeah, obviously Pittsburgh.
But for my first year or two, it was still five bucks.
So it was, it was pretty wild.
So sorry, Ari, go ahead.
That's all right.
I keep jump on that same thing.
I remember when Pedro was pitching for the socks.
It was literally cheaper to fly to Tampa Bay and get tickets to see him down there
than it was to go over a Fenway and buy a ticket.
Like, you know, round trip was probably 200 bucks.
Ticket might have been 20 bucks, but it was legit cheap.
Imagine you spent $1,000 on a forever ticket to the coyotes in 2015.
Yeah.
You lost $995.
Show up in Utah.
You're like, can I use this?
Might as well buy an NFP.
Keith, I saw you post on Instagram the other day about people in public when they got their speaker on and just annoying everybody.
That was what last time I flew when a dude was doing it right in the airport.
He was just annoying everybody.
What I had my headphones on,
I just started singing out loud,
whatever music I was listening to because he was right next to me just to annoy him because, like, you know, he was bugging everybody there.
So yeah, he doesn't want my fucking awful singing voice, but that's a little tip for you.
That's a good move.
And they also had a, uh, speaking of like baseball thing.
They had disco demolition night.
It was at, uh,
whatever the White Sox used to play,
Comiskey.
And they,
everybody brought records and they like,
they like burned them on the field,
but they ended up being a riot and shit.
It was,
it was out of control.
I think they actually can't like postpone the game or cancel it like halfway
through.
Yeah,
it was like this.
This is when disco has been around.
It was sort of this anti-disco fervor going on.
So like,
yeah,
a bunch of drunk fucking.
People started eating on disco.
Yeah.
Not this house,
buddy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was like the death of disco game or something.
right? I think there was like a 30 for 30 type thing.
Yeah, just no, Disco demolition night it was. Yeah. Yeah.
Oh, yeah. I just want to mention too. I art and you, man.
Three of his four wins so far. Shutouts already to start the year.
9, 4, 5, 7.1.3. Goals against great staff for him after, you know, tough little playoffs last year.
Give him a little shout out. What else all? We got to mention,
Rangers legend Ron Dugay passed away this morning.
Obviously, you want to send out deepest condolences and sympathies to his friend, his family.
And obviously the Rangers family.
He was an absolute legend disco run.
They used to call him.
You know, they got pictures of them.
Like, dancer would share it like studio 50 flow.
He played for him way back in the day.
You know, I would, unfortunately, we never got him a show.
But I chatted with him, you know, quite a bit over the years for your DM and stuff.
It seemed like a real nice guy.
And, yeah, he had been dating Sarah Palin for the last couple of years as well.
I saw that in 81, 82 season, I think he had 40 goals with the Rangers.
And like a very good looking guy with 40 goals.
with 40 goals for the New York Rangers in 1981.
Talk about a fun season.
That guy must have just been living it up in that city.
And he did stay like a Rangers legend.
He was always around.
Always, yeah.
I think he was doing the broadcast a little bit as well.
Yeah.
He was at every game doing like the, you know,
alumni suites doing all.
He was just a very, you know,
one of those guys, if you knew you were coming to a Rangers game,
you were probably going to run into him.
He'd always have his like Robert Graham shirt on.
You remember those shirts?
Oh, yeah.
With like the flower.
always looked unbelievable, super nice guy.
One of the first guys I met when I went to New York,
after the game, he came down, introduced himself,
and just a super, super, super nice guy, terrible news.
I mean, young, too, right?
What did it say?
I know, and the pictures of him, well, he was sick.
He still looked amazing.
He still looked amazing.
So sad.
That sucks.
How old was the RA?
69 years old he was.
Yeah.
Yeah, absolute legend went out of the long, the long blonde here,
flowing all over the place.
Yeah, 13th overall pickback and 77.
And I also just well, like, on the subject.
I want to send my condolences.
The big family in Charleston, Ians.
They're a big hockey history.
The dad used to be the stick guy for the Bruins.
My friend Pat, his daughter, Courtney, passed away over a couple days ago,
40 years old, waiting too young.
I'm a tragic.
So, yeah, I just want to, well, I got the Horn Hill.
My condolences to Pat Karen, young Pat and my boy, Ryan.
It's just a sad story.
So I want to mention that.
But in the same vein, my buddy, Ryan, he just got on every fire apartment.
and my cousin, Combe got on Boston Police
and my buddy Noel Gallagher.
So a couple of younger friends of mine
just got a couple good jobs.
Those are the jobs who used to try to chase back on a day.
So a little positivity.
A couple guys getting on some good jobs here.
So I just want to give those boys a shout out.
Something to watch on Netflix,
the Norm MacDonald documentary.
That'll give you a laugh.
Oh, dude, I fucking watch that guy's clips relentlessly.
So good.
He is the funniest human.
I think he might be the funniest human ever, ever.
If you go online, did you ever watch his clips online with?
Amazing.
They're unreal.
And I watched the documentary, R.A.
It's crazy to see.
It's like early on where he talks about when you crush a set as a stand-up comedian,
you feel like the best comic in the world.
And then when you bomb, you feel like the worst.
And they showed a quick clip of him, like, kind of bombing.
And it's so weird.
Like, he's like, I guess you guys didn't like that one or something,
something like that.
But his sarcasm and the way he would deliver jokes, like, oh, oh, my God.
I didn't know he was Canadian either.
Yeah.
Yeah, he was like a one of a kind guy.
No one really did his style.
And he, like some guys like bombed.
They go out and they bomb that terrible.
But he didn't care.
Like he was like he almost like they said what he bombed.
He wanted to.
Yeah, he would like after he bombed,
he'd stand by the exit and like would breed all the hell of the people at the show like say good nights of them.
Yeah.
Absolutely hilarious.
So all right.
What's the story?
Because I, I mean, I started watching the documentary.
I haven't finished it.
he was fired as the news guy from Saturday Live from the update, whatever.
What, what, why was that?
He, this, the craziest reason to get fired, he made too many jokes about O.J. Simpson, the famous double murderer because O.J.
was best friends with Don O.M.m. who ran NBC at the time. And like, they were telling him, like, you know, stop doing it. And like, oh, I just made him do a boy. And like, you know, they were just right to the point. He's like, oh, J. Simpson was found not guilty, which means murder is now.
legal and telephone.
Like,
he would just make these jokes all the time and they literally lost his job because
a guy,
and I guess the thought,
oh my,
I mean,
he's dead now,
but I guess he's like said to Lorne Michaels and know,
I'm like,
you,
you,
you're like,
two people who don't think he,
who think he did it.
It's like,
bro, how much in denial can you be?
OJ blood drip all over him,
bro.
I know he's a boy,
but,
so yeah,
he got shit can there.
Yeah.
And then they kind of went Shane Gillis style and brought him back in his
first monologue.
He just was like,
he basically saying how bad.
the show is, like, in front of, like, everybody.
He doesn't, he didn't give a fuck, man.
Zero.
He didn't give a fuck.
You ever see the movie Dirty Work R.A.?
Oh, yeah.
Him and Adi Lang, yeah.
So good.
What, yeah, I saw, is Arty Lang still
with us?
Yeah, I think he's doing good.
Is he doing better?
Oh, my goodness.
His snout?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think he did Coke for like 20 years straight, right?
A little bit.
A little bit, yeah.
I think he, I don't know if he liked it.
He just liked it.
Yeah.
Yeah, the old Rodney Zanesfield line.
When Norm did the SPs, too, that was another classic one.
Yeah, like, everybody.
They let them do the SPs?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, and they were, people were pissed off, weren't they?
Like, some of the people in the crowd were like, what the fuck?
He makes an O.J. joke.
Oh, because he's like, oh, Charles Woodson, the first defenseman owner of a businessman,
a defense player owner of an husband, and however many years, he's like,
you'll be able to keep that forever as long as you don't kill your wife and her way,
her waiter friend.
Like, and you see Ken Griffey Julius's face.
He's just like, oh my God.
Like, he wants to, like, do the Homer Simpson into the Bush thing to get out of there.
Oh, shit.
You'll be able to keep that unless, you know, that's fucking crazy shit, dude.
That's crazy shit.
Like, I forgot where I woke.
You didn't like that one?
No, I did.
I was also thinking about, no, I was thinking.
Shane Gillis.
He has some 9-11 jokes, too.
Like, not funny, like, not a funny topic.
that he would make so funny
because he'd make it so awkward.
What's the worst part about New York City
and people would be thinking he's like,
I think it's 9-11 when those
planes hit the trade towers.
Remember Gilbert Godfrey?
He said it.
He said it like 50. He had like 50 different clips
of him doing 9-11 jokes.
But Gilbert Godfrey did like a week
after 9-11. Like usually people
you know, give it a minute.
They were doing a roast. It was like a week later.
I forget, even if I
could remember I wouldn't say it was like
I'm not going to laugh at that. It's healthy
to laugh again but like maybe we can give it
give it another month on that. I would stop laughing
if I were you. Yeah. But I saw I got to
see Norm McDonald's this. Uh, local
concert it was cool and I actually DMed them probably like 10 years
ago. We went back. I looked them up. They were still on there.
Like I talked gambling and shit. I had a little
shadow and for some reason they're still up there. But yeah,
it was a legend. Absolutely. So give that a look.
See, um, also is Norm McDow, like
because of the off-sidesness
is he like, like, hated to some regard or no,
or people are just completely in understanding that they're drunk.
OJ probably didn't like him.
No, I know comedians, absolutely.
Who didn't like him?
OJ.
But he's beloved by comedians.
Like, they, they had him on a pedestal all his peers over the years.
OJ's, this fucking guy won't stop talking about me.
Oh, the Norm MacDonald one where, uh, where he's on the view.
And he's like, getting around.
that's in all time.
Getting around the R.
Yeah,
what he was calling?
He was like,
I used the R word.
You know,
and they're all like gna on their head.
They're all like begging him to stop.
And he's like,
okay.
He's like yelling at him.
Like cut it out.
No,
this one,
he's like basically like,
I think he went back on.
And he's trying to act as if though he's succumbed to the mob or he's like,
oh,
he's like,
I almost used the R word.
Like you guys know what I'm talking about.
Right?
And they're like,
yeah,
yeah,
we don't say that around.
He was like,
yeah,
he's like, like, I know, like, I felt horrible.
It's like, you just don't use that word.
Like, he's just stirring him off.
And then at the end when he's done talking,
he like puts a candy in his mouth and just,
I guess you have to see it.
It's just unreal timing and he's got them eating out of the palm of his hand the whole
time.
No, he was writing a joke and, yeah, he didn't want to use the outwards.
So he replaced it with Down syndrome.
I think that was going to be better.
I think that is better technically.
I mean, it's more politically correct.
the view.
This is on the view.
This is while he's on the view.
How many times did he get invited on the view?
He tweeted it out, but they brought it up on the view.
And he's like, well, I was going to say the eye word, but we can't say that anymore.
So I went with town syndrome.
And they think he genuinely thought it was like,
it was like, it was a good deed.
He was doing by it.
Oh, whatever.
You know, they'll fucking tweets.
Those chicks stink.
Oh, shit.
I saw that movie.
Everyone's been talking about that documentary.
Yeah, you can see everything.
You know Nathan Field then you guys?
You ever here?
Oh, yeah, he's Canadian.
I've heard about the documentary.
Minahan told me its best movie seen in seven years.
Wild documentary.
Like, he does this.
They're not pranks.
Like, things are really happening.
But he's so deadpinned and you don't know how much he's like fucking with people.
And he, he, uh, sat with that lady Elizabeth Holmes, you know, that they'll get indicted stealing all those people.
He's serving 11 years in jail for like defrauding people for like, I think like hundreds of millions.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So he, so he, so he basically.
He basically lived with her for 30, her and her boyfriend and the two kids for like,
Billy.
30 days.
Oh yeah, I'll get them in a minute.
30 days before he, she went to jail.
He like, like, like still like basically live with them and record it.
Dude, it's so crazy because you don't know like who's lying, who's full of shit.
Like, does he like her?
Does she like him?
And it was, it was, yeah, two hours and 40 minutes.
It flies by, but it's definitely what, like, very intriguing thought.
And you kind of walk out, like, what the fuck that I just watch?
It's kind of a bit of a head fuck.
But.
And yeah, Billy, her husband.
there's like five minutes in the movie
dude's in the shower and he paned down
he's fucked naked and he's got his like shulong
hanging out like I was like whoa
what kind of movie is this and what's weird
so I haven't seen it yet so yeah
they say that they're like meant for each other
where they're both just out of their minds like he
was running her Twitter account at one
point so Nathan Fielder like
have you have you guys never watched
the show Nathan for you?
Oh buddy like he has some
insanely genius sketches
where like you get a like let's say gas is $6 a gallon, right?
He's got like one cent a gallon.
So these people come in and there's fine print that there's a rebate and they come in.
They're packed.
But this is a business owner who has a struggling business who's trying to think of ideas
how to get more business.
So they hire Nathan Fielder to do it.
So he's like, we're going to sell gas for a cent.
They're like, well, then we're going to go broke.
And he's like, well, no, the rebate is going to be.
that they have to drive two hours.
We have a shuttle that drives them
and then they have to hike this mountain 10 miles up.
Do people do it?
Do people do it?
One person ended up doing it.
And he shuttles them and then goes on the hike to the top with him.
And he's like getting to know them like kind of like this documentary is.
There's like, oh man, you have to go watch these old shows that he did of Nathan for you
where there's there's one where like you can uh you can get like a free you buy a flat screen TV
and then you get a free one and this is when flat screen TVs were like five grand so then
they come into the store same thing another business owner that's struggling that like wants to
drive business so then they show up and they're like well no you have to be wearing a tuxedo to
like to like buy the TV so they go and they go bring they come back in a tuxedo
and then he goes up to the door that you have to go into to get to the flat screen TVs,
and it's a door the size of your laptop.
So he has to get on his hands and knees to crawl on this door.
And then there's another door when they get in that has,
there's a glass you can see through it.
And then there's a live alligator in there.
So you're seeing these people's reactions in real time.
I'm just fucking with people,
but then yet trying to help business owners.
Oh, man, there was one where they invented like a like a little room where you could like,
oh, fuck, I kind of forgot the whole premise of that one.
Oh, the one other one that I could think of off at the top of my head is they took smoking
out of in California out of bars.
So the place smelled like smoke and the bar owner's like,
I'm not getting anybody anymore because this used to be like a smoking joint.
So under the fact that if you had a live performance and you were like videoing it like a movie,
you could smoke in the venue to like, so that what they did is they had a, he created a viewing section and then he brought two people in and he like sold them a ticket and then he like opened up the curtain where these pedestrians could then go in because they were technically acting where they're all hacking darts while they're enjoying their beers at a bar.
So he kept finding these loopholes and silly things.
where I don't know how many seasons of Nathan for you he did,
but I would say there's like at least two where...
I think three or four, yeah.
Okay, yeah.
Like, they're genius, dude.
Yeah, he's genius.
He's diabolical and like not like amino twist away just like,
and he's so deadpaned.
Like he's just waiting from the break.
He never laughs or anything, right?
He's just...
Yeah, exactly.
He's a sick puppy.
The first one is like with the guy with the yoga shop,
he won a business.
So he's like, how about we come up with a new flavor?
Who flavor yogurt?
He goes out.
Then it'll bring people into the store.
Like, like, so they,
he went to some store where they had like a, like,
shit, it wasn't actual shit, but it had like the set and taste of it.
And so people come in, he didn't tell what flavor.
He was doing the day.
They were doing taste tests with like shit,
Flavid fucking yoga.
Oh, but.
He's a sick puppy.
He is.
But to finish up, the other show he did, the rehearsal,
um, on another, uh, another streaming place.
And he watched the second season.
If you really want to get into it, he, he invest against why planes crash,
what, what occurs in the final seconds.
and he starts like to try to learn how to fly a plane.
It's absolutely fascinating.
I'm from soup to nuts from the first step to the last.
And it's so goddamn funny because he leads up to like,
remember Sally the bird,
the plane that landed in the Hudson?
He wants to know like what was going on in Sally's brain.
And but with the last episode, man,
I fell off my bat laugh.
And he's just like, I don't know, he's such.
He's a diabolical genius.
And in these really uncomfortable situations,
he's able to not break character, not.
And now I believe it was a $7 million documentary or whatever you want to call this.
Because there is a little bit of acting involved in it with a-
Talk about this.
Yeah, I don't want to spoil it.
You don't want to spoil it.
Yeah, no, I won't spoil it.
But already in the first weekend, I think it's recouped, like, or it's made like 25 million,
30 million bucks.
So they're saying that it has the opportunity to win Best Picture.
Where R.A, I don't know if a documentary has ever won Best Picture, maybe one.
I don't know the docs haven't been nominated for best picture
because there is a documentary category
so they typically don't get nominated for best pitcher
and yeah this is the most financially successful documentary
since Fahrenheit 9-11 that Michael Moore made like 20-something years ago
so yeah definitely good good shit give it a look see
and well on another outlet elsewhere I watched the movie Carrie
the horrible movie from back in the 70s
well they just dropped a new series
and I didn't know if I was gonna like I put on dude it was fantastic
like eight episodes like an hour reach
it's just a new adaptation
from the Stephen King book
and yeah they put it like a modern sediment
it was it was really good
did you watch that adolescence on Netflix or all
no okay is that about the kid
who murdered the kid
yeah the kid accused the killing the girl
and this this one it almost feels like a
like a girl version of that
like basically like you know
based how mean and caddy they can be
and as like a social media aspect but yeah
it was much better than I thought going into
it. So give that a look.
See.
And a classic recommendation for the week is going to go dog day afternoon,
Al Pacino,
1975 based on a true story.
Guys robbing a bank and it becomes like a hostage situation all day.
And I think it was in Brooklyn.
Just a classic Al Pacino role.
Give that a look sheet too.
I think Sidney Lumet directed it.
And last,
I'll give a happy birthday.
My father, Leo,
he's going to be 82 tomorrow Saturday.
So Peter Fruit,
best out of you.
Happy birthday, Leo.
Happy birthday, Leo.
So, yeah, wrap up that.
And now, oh, I did go back down to Brooklyn
for that show.
I ended up driving down.
I took the grand macs.
I've been seeing a lot of clips of, uh, of, uh, Sturgle Simpson.
What are they, what does he name?
Jimmy Blues guys.
Johnny Blues guys.
Did you stay there?
What, uh, no, I, I, I, I packed it out.
I'll shout out to the boys over to our engine 219, a lot of 105.
I, I parked at the firehouse.
And then the Bruins were on.
So I drove over to Manhattan to the Canuck, um, you know, the bar, the hockey bar,
like 1921.
and I usually don't post sometimes where I am because, you know, especially later,
and I never know who might show up, but I did it.
And I turned in like two girls from Montreal and a kid from Long Island showed up to say
what's up.
Hello.
And I ended up hanging out with them.
We went to a couple other spots and I grabbed the bodega challenge at like 435 in the
modern and then when it got lighter, I drove home.
So I, yeah.
Wait, so you never slept?
I maybe got a little cat nap before.
Where?
Like, like, for when I got on the car.
Like 20 minutes.
I don't want to start driving in the dock.
but, you know, I wasn't like boozing because I, I,
I was, I was gonna bring the mushroom down, but I was, uh, just some weed.
No, I was, I was, I was pretty chill, but yeah, yeah, yeah, what was there?
Oh, Trevor, Jen and Olivia, I told him, I'd give him a little shout out of the
pod, so a couple of a Canadians fans.
So it was good time and, uh, awesome show me.
If you, if Sturgle, or Johnny Blues guys is coming, your town, man, go see him.
I don't think, all right, he's got like three shows left.
I think he's in New Orleans, Atlanta.
And, but, yeah, I'm not, I'm not here.
I'm back in AZ.
And then he says he's going on high.
hiatus for for like like made it sound like maybe like a year or two from his stuff but there's
rumors that he's going to be joining forces with uh john mayor and joining the um the grateful
dead that's the rumblings right now someone else said that to me too that would be unreal but yeah
it's a phenomenal show man three hours like just like a relentless like rock country whatever show
but so yeah good good time i love i love driving now to new york always a good time so uh
I, boys, think that about wraps it up.
I know G. probably wants to get out of here.
You got any more questions, anything?
No, I want to discuss, Biz.
I was just going to say,
Bravo to Brady to, you know,
obviously the Kachucks and then the Ottawa settlers fans
for bringing us so much joy in the hockey world
over the last 24 hours.
Like, I get that there's tension and there's hate there,
but like that was so fucking entertaining.
Boy, is like, we need,
we need 25 more of those type of games a year.
Yeah.
That's hard.
It's hard to drum up that actual.
passion. That was.
Get on your horse, Larkin.
Yeah.
All right, everyone. Thank you so much.
We never talked about
his list.
Oh, we didn't.
10 teams. We never talked about him expanding the list.
Larkin expanded the list.
He went from 3 to 10.
No, I think it was 6 to 10, wasn't it?
I thought the original list was 3.
I mean,
it was Vegas, Florida, and Minnesota.
I've defended him a lot.
The three-team list is insane.
Right.
It went from 3 to 10.
Someone said it was like going on hinge and expanding
your territory.
Like adding a few more names.
And he just put on wagons too.
Like Tampa, Utah.
Who else was on that?
Every year is on that list.
Jersey.
Jersey was on it?
It's like the,
I think all the teams like the highest odds,
like the best odds for the,
Stanley Cup
The only team
Among them
He didn't have on
was Edmondson
Like
Yeah he's not going to Canada
Trade me right fucking now
To a contender
My dream scenario
Is New Jersey
And then they miss playoffs
That would be
I would fucking suck on that Pasha
Pasha if that happens
Buddy
I'm going to tattoo an L
on your forehead this off season
Screw the tent
Downtown New
Hoboken
You're getting an L tattooed
right front and center
Well that's it
That's a wrap.
What an RAs world.
We'll be back to you Tuesday morning.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
We love you all.
And thank you so much for listening.
Peace.
Obes.
