Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Quick Wins with Adam Kantos. Hey, are you familiar with historical bias? That means you're relying on past situations, even recent past to make current decisions instead of opening your mind and truly understanding what's going on right now. A great example of this is something called the pike syndrome. Pike syndrome, as in pike the fish.
Starting point is 00:00:31 So in 1873, a German scientist named Dr. Karl Mobius did an experiment. He put a pike in a big fish tank and he would throw minnows in and that pike would go gobble those minnows up. And one day he put a glass divider in that fish tank. And guess what? He threw that minnow on the other side of the glass divider and here comes the pike and bam, runs into that glass divider and couldn't get to the minnow. Kept trying, bam, bam, bam, running into the divider. The pike is going crazy trying to get there and exhausted itself. Well, Dr. Mobius took the glass divider out and the minnows started swimming around the pike and the pike's just
Starting point is 00:01:12 sitting there looking at the minnows going, I can't get to you. I can't get to you because that's how I felt before. It completely changed that pike's thoughts and how that pike lived and that pike starved to death. So don't let your history change your future.
