Start With A Win - Quick Wins: Opportunity or Threat?

Episode Date: May 3, 2019

“Opportunities look like threats because they are if you do nothing with them.” When you come to a fork in the road and you are faced with the decision to do something or not do something..., how do you look at that decision? Do you see the road before you as an opportunity, filled with abundance and creating value for you and your clients? Or do you perceive it as a threat, characterized by pessimism? In life and in business, it is important that you be in the right mindset to accept and adapt to your new situation, always being ready to eliminate threats and capitalize on opportunities. Once you grasp these concepts for yourself, you have the unique ability to coach your client through this same process, providing them with value beyond their limited interactions with you. RE/MAX takes this idea seriously, even offering the Momentum Training Program for agents through RE/MAX University.Links:Connect with Adam:https://www.startwithawin.com/ https://www.facebook.com/REMAXAdamContoshttps://twitter.com/REMAXAdamContos https://www.instagram.com/REMAXadamcontos/

Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Quick Wins with Adam Kantos. This is Adam Kantos coming to you from top of the 12th floor of Remax World Headquarters with a quick hit. And we got with us today, producer Mark. How you doing, Mark? I am wonderful. Thank you. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:00:20 So we got a little quick thing to talk about here today, don't we? Just a little something to keep people going during the week. Something to ponder, something to look for. Okay. Yeah, going to drop a little value bomb here. Ooh, I like value bombs. Boom. So here's what that value bomb is.
Starting point is 00:00:38 And you and I talk a lot about opportunities and things like that. But I'll tell you, a lot of opportunities look like threats, Mark. Opportunities look like threats because they are if you do nothing with them. Unpack that. Unpack that a little bit for me. Okay. So you see a threat out there or an opportunity, you're at a, a decision point. So a decision point is like a fork in a road. Okay. And you can either do something with this or not do something with this. For instance, if I bring you a, um, a statement in the marketplace, let's say you're in real estate and, uh and interest rates are going up.
Starting point is 00:01:29 That's a threat to your business because nobody's going to want to buy a house, right? Right. Well, is it an opportunity or is it a threat? Because if you look at it as a threat, you're going to go, okay, I have a mindset of pessimism. I have a closed mind. I have a mindset of looking for the problem in this. Or let me tell you the opportunity side where you have a mindset of abundance. And a mindset of abundance will look at that situation, that statement as being an opportunity to create business, to create value, to help people, to help your business. Because ultimately what it comes down to is it's not what is said, it's what you do with what is
Starting point is 00:02:14 said. So this statement, interest rates are going up and you're a real estate agent, you go, oh my gosh, people are going to do less business. Now I'd be running out to my customers going, Hey, interest rates possibly could be going up. That's what, that's what the news is saying. Why don't we take a look at where you're at in your home ownership and figure out, is this a good time for you to buy or sell? Because we're still at historic rates, historically low rates. We're lower than we were six months ago. And you were talking about buying and selling then.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Maybe you should start thinking about it now as we start entering this marketplace for the spring and discover when is the right time because of the changes in the interest rates. So this is an opportunity for us to build our business. This is an opportunity for us to create value and educate people and help them. Or is it a threat? Right.
Starting point is 00:03:16 That's the question. Opportunity or threat. It happens throughout business all the time. It happens all day long. It happens in everything we do where, you know, if, if you, if you are confronted by a situation in life, is it an opportunity or a threat? If you look at everything as what is my opportunity, you will eliminate the threats and you will capitalize on the potential outcome of that situation. Does that make sense? Yeah, it makes sense. And it just also comes back to just having
Starting point is 00:03:51 that positive mindset, right? Like no matter whatever, whatever comes your way to always look at it as an opportunity, right? Opportunity for growth or whatever it might be and keep that positive mindset. Exactly. It is an opportunity to exercise your mindset of abundance, which is a key component of the momentum training program that we offer to REMAX agents and brokers through REMAX University. So remember, it isn't an opportunity or a threat. It's how you deal with it. What is your mindset?
Starting point is 00:04:21 You need to have a mindset of abundance. That's our quick hit for today, Mark. Love it. What is your mindset? You need to have a mindset of abundance.
