Oh, man, dude, I'm in a fucking pickle, dude. Okay. So I'll try and add some context for, like, where the story begins. So my girlfriend and I, we recently, I mean, not recently, but we graduated college, moved to a city together. Things are going well, you know? Like, I really care about this girl. I want to make it work. But for the life of her, she just can't, like, keep place of things.

So in the moving process, ended up losing some important documents, like a social security card, right? So I was like, ah, man, that shit sucks. Like, you know, probably talk to your mom, get a new one. You know, this shit can be replaced. so um right that happens and then like a month later her mom comes to visit us right and then i come you know i pick her up from work meet her downstairs and then she's like you know making small talk she's like oh by the way how did uh you hear back from the police yet i'm like what what do you mean that's awesome she's like you know the report and it was like no what the fuck and then my girlfriend

comes in like ushers her away like kills the conversation i talked to her apparently she told her mom that she lost her stuff because her purse was stolen hilarious like she was too embarrassed to admit she just fuck oh man that's hilarious so now her mom she keeps like i don't know she just keeps sly digging me about it. Your mom does? And her mom does? No, her, her mom does, yeah. The way she told the story is that I was there.

Her purse was stolen. Oh, my God. That's really funny. She was like, yeah, we were at a bar and a guy stole my purse right in front of him. And he just pissed his pants, actually. Can you actually get a use of Social Security card in a pair of 36, 32 cackies because he pissed all over them. That's insane, dude, that she made you look like a pussy in her story.

Dude, and I just got, like, in her defense, right, she has good reason to not be a forthright with her mom. Like, her mom's like just a little unhinged. So, like, I totally get why. But ever since then, and that's a month after it allegedly happened, right? The entire time her mom was over to visit. she's just like saying shit about like oh how you need to be able to protect my daughter and all this shit holy shit and then flash forward six like i'm the type of person to like you know i'll just take the l like that is what it is sure you know keep it moving yeah but

It's like, just admit, she's so scared of her domineering mother that, who probably, her mom's probably type A, and your girlfriend sounds like a spaced out person, which, listen, you want to talk about lost important documents. You're talking to, I mean, I lose everything constantly.

I completely identify with your girlfriend here, but she kind of immaturely was so scared of her mom that she came up with a lie that threw you under the bus. Even though this woman is, you know, kind of annoying, whatever, I kind of... I see where she's coming from. My girl, my daughter's boyfriend, let a guy snatch her purse. He didn't do shit about it.

Now, you could argue, so you have to basically, if there's no world where your girlfriend just says, look, mom, shut the fuck up, I lost it, okay? Stop telling him about it because of, you know, this could, this could be a moment where your girlfriend has some agency and it's like, you know what, I was, I will, I didn't want to I didn't want to just tell you I lost it. It got lost in the move. I knew you'd be annoying about it. I made up this fucking lie.

And now you won't fucking stop hounding, you know, you about it, right? If your girlfriend won't do that and you're okay with her not doing it, then this is like, you have to pretend it happened and you have to say to her, like, basically, unless you think your girlfriend can have this moment of growth, which, by the way, I think would be good for her. And I think it's not fair to put you in this position. But if you, ironically, what you're doing here is protecting her by being accused of being a pussy in a twist of irony here. And if you're okay with that, if you don't want to get your girlfriend to confront her mother, then your only option is to pretend like you did it and act the way you'd act if you actually allowed someone to snatch a person from your girlfriend. And if that actually did happen, I would be, you would be mortified.

And then you would just be like, look, I will never let that happen again. It's one of my greatest shames in the world. I will promise you I'll never happen again. But you have to stop bringing this up. It was a mistake, whatever, whatever. Those are your two options, though. If you're going to cover for your girl, then you have to go full and cover for your girl and pretend you let someone steal her purse in front of you.

and now act the way you would have acted if that happened. How would you make up for this and then you have to actually do that? See, that's the crux of the issue because ultimately I do get where she's coming from if I was in her position with her mother like I would make that.

I would admittedly maybe make a better lie. Of course. No, she fucked up. The one that doesn't implicate me. Of course. Of course. Why did you have to be there? It's a lie.
