Starting point is 00:00:03 Good morning. Buena dia. And welcome to Cafesito and croquettas, your morning show hosted by Stay Tranquilo and Aachenco. Today we got the pooch. I'm A. You're not A.C.O., but A.N. Co.'s right there right behind you. And all its glory and all its love. Show the representation. Shout out A. H. & Co.
Starting point is 00:00:22 And yeah. So morning news show is going to be our first drop of the series of Caffecito and Roquettas. And we're excited to bring you guys one. A lot of good news, some uplifting stories, interviewing industry, Miami leaders. We're going to kick off this week with Edmando Hernandez from H&Col himself. So we're excited for that episode to drop this Wednesday. But today we want to touch on some of the good stuff going on, some of the good stuff going on the world, some of the good stuff going on in Miami.
Starting point is 00:00:53 And some news was broke a couple days ago now. And it is the fact that Bad Bunny will be leading the halftime show for the NFL for the NFL, for the Super Bowl. Pretty, pretty epic news. Some controversy around it, but, but definitely some epic news for the Latinos. Listen, it's big for the Latinos. It's big for the Latino space. It's a big platform for an artist.
Starting point is 00:01:15 I mean, you can argue that Bad Bunny is one of the biggest, basically people in the world, basically, you know, figures. He's one of the most popular figures. You know, he's no more just a local Latino artist. I mean, he's breaking boundaries in multiple countries. So, I mean, you can talk controversy, you can talk all that, but regardless, it's a Latino being represented. and one of the biggest music venues, one of the biggest music opportunities in the world. And, you know, it's cool. You know, I think the last time we saw that was Shakira and Jay Loved down when their Super Bowl's back in Miami,
Starting point is 00:01:43 showing that representation. He actually performed at that one. When he wasn't as big, he was like a support singer in that performance and now he gets the headline in his own show. So it's, you know, in that aspect, it's cool to see the transformation of his career. Now he went from being a sub character. Now he's the main character of the halftime show. No, no, for sure. I know obviously the news earlier in the year
Starting point is 00:02:06 that he said that he wasn't going to play in the United States but I think you put that aside and you really just see one what this move does for the NFL right you hear a lot about what the temperature and kind of like what their initiatives are as far as like growth right and they want to expand into global markets obviously they've already played a couple games in Europe they have a game now in Spain in a couple of months
Starting point is 00:02:31 months that the dolphins actually are going to be playing in. They had the game in Brazil early on in the season to kick off the season. So Bad Bunny helps them achieve that global growth. And Jay-Z is the one that made this all happen, Rock Nation and all that. So there's obviously a mod, what's the word? There's a reason for it, right? There's a rationale for this. And having a guy like Bad Bunny and obviously you see Bad Bunny everywhere.
Starting point is 00:02:58 So having a guy like him representing us Latinos, It's pretty epic. It's pretty epic. And you know he's going to bring the energy. And just think of how many people are going to tune in because bad are going to going to say. I mean, the amount of people that are just going to tune in. Maybe they don't tune at the beginning of the game.
Starting point is 00:03:12 But as they know, half time is coming. They're going to get the second quarter of a minute. They stick around. They watch them football. They're like, damn, this sport's kind of cool. So, I mean, you don't know if you get a couple more fans just because bad bunnies out there. And like, you know, wherever the game is going to be displayed, you know, wherever in whatever countries, wherever people may be seeing it.
Starting point is 00:03:28 I mean, it's an opportunity to, you know, only for, the NFL to get views on the halftime show side, but, you know, they get a couple more views on, you know, the actual playing side and get, you know, football out to this international audience. And you know that it's going to be an international audience, not just Latin America, but Europe, you know, Asia.
Starting point is 00:03:45 There's people that like Bad Bunny, and they're going to show out. For sure. And even for the sake of just the U.S. market in itself, right, you're talking about the Latinos are the largest growing demographic in the United States, represent a ton of opportunity down here. So it's not,
Starting point is 00:04:00 even just like growing in Latam and the Caribbean and Europe, right? Like it's going to help grow even just in the United States directly. I mean, they're all coming here. So why not make them fans of it? And I think it's a testament to say, hey, like the Latinos have power, not only globally, but also here in the states directly. And it's only going to get bigger down here. And Bad Bunny is the epitome of being the leader to help grow that.
Starting point is 00:04:25 If you want to pick a person, he's probably the best person to do it right now. 100%. Because, like I see, he is the most polarizing figure. One of the most polarizing figures. And I don't know if that's the right word, but he is one of the most biggest figures in the entertainment industry right now. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:04:36 You know, besides acting, music, everything he is. Everyone right now knows who Bad Bunny is. He did the, I mean, he was basically the main act and the Happy Gomer. I mean, outside of Adam Sandler, he was his right hand the whole time. So now, you know, he's getting golf fans. I'm going to get football fans. It's pretty epic.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Everyone's going to get a taste of Bad Bunny. And, you know, I'm happy that I said, I've been listening to him since he was still underground. And now he's making his way up. but now he went from a local star. Yeah. Now to a country star. Now he's an international star.
Starting point is 00:05:05 So it's crazy to see that the evolution of his career and what he's made it able to make out of it. Yeah. Now he got the halftime show because it was, you know, the biggest, one of the biggest music music music in history. You think he, uh, do you see the interview with J.K. Dobbins, uh, with the epic guy from Monday night that he does like that.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Es lunez, yeah, yeah, yeah. And J.K. Dobbins was eating it up, bro. Talking to him in Spanish. Like, it's like, it's like, it's like, everyone's saying, it's for Latifans. And it is, obviously, like he's representing Latinos. But wherever you're from, American, European, like, we all kind of gravitate to this Latino flavor. It's like, it's fun.
Starting point is 00:05:39 It's exciting. It gets people going. And even if you don't know the lyrics, it just like, it gets you want, you know, dancing and moving. So I think it's going to be sick. I think it's going to be sick. I think it's going to be fun, man. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. And, you know, we'll see, you know, the kind of performance you put some.
Starting point is 00:05:53 But, I mean, looking at how it's conscious of been in Puerto Rico and how electric those are in. Yeah, it was like sick. People traveling to go watch that. and, you know, I can only assume that's going to transition and it's going to travel to San Francisco when the Super Bowl's played, you know, later in the year. Do you think he's going to bring anybody on, like a special guest that comes with him?
Starting point is 00:06:10 Probably, I mean, if you really want to make a splash and you want to really put on for, you know, the Caribbean, which is where he's from. He's got his label, too, of artists, too, so that could be a good platform for, like, the next big guy. I mean, you can bring somebody like El Alpha who is... Oh, my God, can you imagine? I mean, you talk about election, you talk about...
Starting point is 00:06:27 A lot. If I see Elafa come onto a half-time show, like, I'm going to lose my mind. That would be crazy. El-Fa, like, you can't, you can, we don't care what your culture is, you listen to El-Fa, and you hear a little, tiki, tiki, tiki, ta-a-tac-a-tac-a-tac. Like, I want you to not be able to move. I don't want you, I want you to not feel something in your body. I dare you to not feel something when you hear El-a-Fa.
Starting point is 00:06:45 That would be wild. Hey, man, that would be sick. I mean, there's Jay Balvin, maybe, Osuna. I mean, who knows, who knows. There's a lot of people. I mean, a lot of those people have performed in a group of concerts. avenues, it can go. So it'd be sick. Do you think what's like obviously one or two songs for sure sure got to be on the playlist? Man, I think you got to go old school. A couple old schools for sure. I mean, for me,
Starting point is 00:07:08 I mean, for me personally, I want to hear Chambaya. No, Chambaya is going to be there for sure. I think that needs to be in there. I mean, it'll be cool. The first song that really put him out there was Mia when he first collabed with Drake. Yeah. That was like the first song that put him out there. So like, if really wants to like tell a story of how his career went, like, that was probably the first song that people are like, who the hell is this bad bunny guy? Right, right. So I'll be cool to hear that one. And that was like the first, like, his first collaboration with a really big artist.
Starting point is 00:07:33 And he was on there and he was featured on that song. So it'll be cool to see that song be performed. And honestly, like any of his other songs, I mean, he has so many. No, he's got so many banged. Yes, but I do want to see some old stuff. Like, definitely go into the, go into the back, you know, go into the past and bring us some of those, like, songs that, you know, made you, that brought you out. You know what I was just thinking?
Starting point is 00:07:51 How crazy people. I mean, possible. possible. I don't know if they worked already. I don't know. I don't know if they've crossed. I mean, I assume they've definitely crossed past at this point. He's Mr. Worldwide. Mr. Worldwide. If it was Miami, I can see it.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Maybe not San Francisco. Yeah, I know. But at the end of the day, it's not really where it's, I mean, because, like, San Fran is not Miami. Yeah. Like, Bad Bunny in Miami, obviously wouldn't be crazy. But I feel like Pipel, like, right now, I feel like people hasn't made that much music. So I feel like he would be resonating more like a Miami audience. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:21 Just because, like, he hasn't doing too much. But, I mean, for us, it'll be sick to see. From what I heard, people. will sell out like concerts in the Midwest though like people like people like he's like that he's like that cruise uh like the cruise director yeah he's a cruise and and like his music resonates so like people there on vacation I mean why not dude I mean at this point you have you have so much
Starting point is 00:08:38 opportunity to really just put on a show for the Latinos and you know bring our music bring our culture out to the biggest stage so why not bring bring everyone absolutely bring the whole family bring bring the fan bring the family bring the primos bring everybody we got our cafe we got our croquettas You know, you know that the Latino flavor is going to be electric in life. Why not? Yeah, why not us, right? Why not us?
Starting point is 00:09:02 So, obviously, huge news. Amazing to see that. And obviously, I had to touch on that. It's one of the most relevant news going on right now. But I want to talk about some of the things going on locally here in Miami. Some beautiful things going on. And, again, you know, we always hear all the bad going on. And we want to stay as far away from that.
Starting point is 00:09:21 We want to talk about the good. And one of the good things just recently, they cut the ribbon after a renovation of about two years, I believe, is what it was. The Freedom Tower is back opening in Miami. I think officially you can go in. They did the ribbon cutting, but I think as of October 15th, you'll be able to go in there. Obviously, one of Miami's iconic landmarks represents so much for the city. It's a huge thing, and I feel like it wasn't spoken about enough. But you talk about, you know, the Cuban exiles and all the past history of Miami.
Starting point is 00:09:58 I mean, this place represents it better than anything else. Yeah, I mean, you talk about Miami landmark, but it's a Cuban landmark. It's part of Cuban history of, you know, how, you know, a lot of our families, for those that are Cuban, especially here in Miami, you know, there's a chance a lot of our families had to go through Freedom Tower to get there. And, you know, for it to be back open and to kind of, you know, revisit that history of, you know, how, you know, people made it down over here to Miami and, you know, the process of how, you know, the process of how it has to go. I mean, it's awesome because, you know, I mean, for me personally,
Starting point is 00:10:24 I was never able to experience or go into Freedom Tower. And, you know, my grandparents never experienced, but I know a lot of people, you know, have ties to that Freedom Tower. And, you know, their journey of, you know, becoming an American and, you know, getting into this country. So, I mean, it's awesome to see. I mean, like, everyone knows what it is. But I think a lot of people know what happened within the walls.
Starting point is 00:10:40 So I think it's cool to give people an opportunity to actually, you know, see what went down in there and, like, what the, what it was like, you know, in the 80s. And, you know, even earlier than that, what it represented and what it was really used for rather than just, you know, a landmark, which right now we know Freedom Towers of building across American Airlines. Right. And that's really how, you know, especially the younger generations.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Kasea Center. Yeah, I know. Where the heat play. Where the heat play. Where the heat play. But that's the truth, right? You drive by this building. You're like, oh, man, that's a nice building.
Starting point is 00:11:11 But if you don't know, you don't really know, especially like it hasn't been accessible for that generation to generation gap now is a huge opportunity. Cuban. So like if you're Cuban, you know what that building was and what happened in there. But reality is, I mean, we talk about all the time, you know, on other platforms that were the gap between like the generations of like losing that culture and losing that Cuban background is kind of spreading away. So this is a chance for like, you know, those people that want to go into the roots. Like you can go really deep into your roots and go to Freedom Tower and, you know, experience like, you know, how it was, you know, what the challenges
Starting point is 00:11:42 were throughout that in that time period when the Freedom Tower was, you know, it wasn't a historic Landberg, there's an active, you know, site for a lot of these immigrants that were coming in. Yeah. I don't know. It's cool, right? You go there with Auelo Awela, and they're able to walk you directly with what they went through. And now you get to experience it firsthand the way they did, essentially, and be able to take
Starting point is 00:12:03 those stories and carry them with you. No, I'm curious to see, you know, what the, what the responses, you know, how helpful it will be, you know, people that want to go visit, you know, they're going to do events there, you know, I know in New York, they do a lot of, like, heritage months. It'll be cool to see like a Cuban heritage. It's a Hispanic heritage month right now. So the timing's great. The timing is great.
Starting point is 00:12:20 So I love to see him do initiatives to really help, you know, put the Cuban culture out there. And, you know, bring it back to the streets and, you know, connect, like we said, the younger generation. That's what's important. You don't want the culture to die. You don't want the customs to die. So what better than to bring it back to life, you know, through this landmark, you know, whether it was, you know, good memories, bad memories. That was a landmark of, you know, the Cuban people down here in South Florida. So make that kind of the epicenter and like the beacon of, you know, our culture and what it was and what it was.
Starting point is 00:12:44 and what it means to be, you know, not only a Cuban, but a Cuban American. Absolutely. Oh, great. If you're in Miami, visiting, living here in the downtown area, October 15th, the doors will open. So definitely go check out the Freedom Tower. Bring everybody, right? That's what we do as a Latina. Go to the Freedom Tower.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Bring the Freedom Tower. Bring everybody. Bring the Tia. It's only fitting. Yeah, everybody, bro. Everybody, everybody. But so that's great news going on in the city of Miami. some other, you know, quick, quick storylines,
Starting point is 00:13:17 the Miami police ride that raising awareness for cancer. Just going on now, 19 officers, cycling 260 miles to Orlando, raising awareness for leukemia and lymphoma. Inspired by Patty McRink, wife of a detective who battled cancer, and they've already raised $31,000 bringing on,
Starting point is 00:13:40 which is great. This is actually a good tie because in a few weeks, We're actually doing an episode with Ray from Live Like Bella, who also does a lot for the community around childhood cancer. So obviously any of these initiatives that are going on in the city are amazing. And having our first responders being a part of that, I think is also a great representation of the city as a whole. It's always good to see our community come together for initiatives like this.
Starting point is 00:14:05 And, you know, for them doing it in a fun way, you know, follow these guys biking. I mean, biking to Orlando. Or biking to Orlando. We're talking about taking the bright line to Miami to Orlando. I don't complain about driving these guys. You're about to help on a bike and go all the way out there. So, I mean, crudals to those guys, you know, it's definitely not an easy thing.
Starting point is 00:14:19 It's definitely a, it's got to be physically grueling because you're not only, you know, biking the distance, but you know, whatever the condition may be. Whether it's the heat, even though it's cooling down. Thankfully, it's cooling down a little bit. A little bit. Slightly. But you have the rain. You're in South Florida still. You know, you have the bike through the South Florida.
Starting point is 00:14:33 So you have the conditions. You have the elements. But, I mean, kudos to those guys for making the trip. And, you know, making an impression on the rest of us, man. These guys can do this. you know, why can't we support a cause, you know, the smallest way possible. So, absolutely. So thank you guys for putting in that time and raising awareness around cancer.
Starting point is 00:14:51 And we'll actually share the link so you guys have it as well and be able to donate if you're interested. And then some light news also just going on in Miami in the food scene. Came across the story. I thought this was pretty cool. It's going on through the month of October. So Zach the baker is a bakery in Winwood. And they're actually trading Haikis, Heikus, H-A-I-K-U-S for sourdough this October. So it's in partnership with the Miami Poetry Festival.
Starting point is 00:15:24 And essentially, basically, you have a chance through this contest, I guess, that they're running throughout the course of the month to win free bread for a year. And then runner up wins a native fruit tree. I'm like, hey, that's pretty cool, man. I mean, you got poetry, Cafesito, some pancine. A little bit of everything. Why not bring the culture together and some bread for life, bro? Some bread for life. Is it for life or for a year?
Starting point is 00:15:50 It's for a year. For a year. For a year. You know, probably like to carve up on the weekends, you know, get some free bread, you know? It's always good out bread around. Yeah. So check out Zach the Baker.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Shout out Zach the Baker. All month long, a chance to participate there. We'll definitely, obviously, as well, send over any information that you have on this. But shout out Zach the Baker and Winwood. and maybe some bread for a year. If you do, win, and you were a fan of the show. Send a little bit of a couple of us.
Starting point is 00:16:16 A little far away. Send a little far away. You know, tell us if you were the reason you found out, send a little far away, you know? Don't be stingy. Absolutely. And then some real quick, some restaurant, new restaurants opening in Coconut Grove.
Starting point is 00:16:28 We got Chuggies by chef Michael Beltron, drinking pig barbecue. Barbecue is starting to blow up in Miami. I know we saw something that Miami is like the foodie city now. I think Miami rent is the number one foodie city. Interesting. I mean, we talk about barbecue. I think Apocalypse is expanding.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Yeah, Apocalypse obviously has just featured on Game Day, so they just got featured on national stage for their work. You've had short. He's obviously been around for a while, but barbecue's making a huge, huge push here in Miami. They're making a comeback, you know, a little, I guess a little tie-in, you know, cultures, you know, a little barbecue, Spanish style, whatever may be. But, I mean, barbecue is definitely building up.
Starting point is 00:17:03 I believe the team behind that also is Ariette. For which one? Drinking Pig barbecue? I think it's behind, I think Ariette is a team behind that. That I am not too sure. I would definitely have to check in on that. We'll send in the link. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Send you the links. But drinking pig barbecue, you got Chuggie's chef Michael Beltron. And then you have May's room, cocktail lounge, also opening up in the Grove. Obviously, the Grove has transformed over the last few years. Grove is one of my favorite spots to hang out in. It's like that perfect. Miami feel, but also kind of like, you know, you kind of feel like you're in the island, too. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:39 You don't feel like you're in the city. You talk to a lot of parents, you know, maybe those Gen Zers, you know, and stuff like that. Their parents went to the Grove. Yes. Yeah, yeah. The Grove's been around for a minute. Before Burkle, before one went over. Very different iteration than what it is now.
Starting point is 00:17:51 It was the Grove and I believe that space. It's called mazes. Mays room, yeah. I think that's a speakeasy, right? I believe it's going to be the first speakeasy in Copernard Grove. So pretty cool to see a little speakeasy and those big easies are popping up. They're popular, you know, in different areas. Everyone wants to go to a good speakeasy.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Yeah. You know, nothing wrong with a good speakeyze. a nice old chill vibe quieting it out of the the the the theiki tiki right exactly you go to speak easy you chill out there but yeah i think it's gonna be the first one in coconut grove so very cool kopranor doing their part to expand out you know they're they're they're they're seeing out there you know make it more welcoming for all these people and find different spots for every kind of every kind of different person you know when i go club you want to just hang out you know there's a spot for you out absolutely yeah no it's great to see the city of miami
Starting point is 00:18:31 growing so many options to choose from that's just in the grove alone there'll be multiple restaurants that also will be opening up over the next few months and we'll be glad to highlight them here. But for today, that pretty much does it. That's a quick rundown of what's going on in Miami, what's going on in the world, good news of the week. And I hope you guys enjoy. Definitely tune into our next episode Wednesday morning will be joined with Armando Hernandez from H& Co. It'll be a great story with the story of just behind H&Coh and what's going on there and and a little bit about our partnership with them. But we're excited.
Starting point is 00:19:05 And thank you guys, as always, for tuning in. And make sure to always, always grab your cap. Cofacito and croquettas. See you guys.
