When you were telling me about it, I was like, damn, that's dope.
Like, you know, something that you can consume that's, like, light and easy,
but it's extremely informative, right?
Like, I think that is a space that there's not a lot of, right?
So people are looking for that type of content,
and you can provide that outlet for people.
It's kind of that edge where I wanted to be information heavy,
except that when you're reading it, you wouldn't realize that
because it's presented in a way that's more casual.
Exactly.
And even sometimes, you know, a humorous edge than a more traditional,
golf media or magazine where we also kind of have that aspect kind of goes the same way in the video
where it gives me that kind of area to be more colorful my personality and to give a more in-depth
whether I'm talking to a person or about a person kind of give a bit more flavor to it than
I could with just writing so it's fun to be able to use both on the same topic sometimes.
All right, what is going on everybody? Welcome back to another Stay Tranquilo episode.
We got Gabe from Weekenders Weekly here.
What's up, man. How are you?
See, we're here at PGA Show in Orlando, Florida.
Completely different scene than the typical podcast.
But Gabe's a Miami guy.
Pomerto home course?
Yeah, you know, kind of cut my teeth around Palmetto.
Played a lot of my first rounds there.
First round ever was at Granada, actually, and the game horse as well.
Beautiful, just nine holes, you know.
I was not aware they're so strict with the pace of play there.
And first time I ever played golf and ended up with us running down the first fairway.
And the starter was chasing us if you were taking to.
slow, but yeah, you know, I've played a lot of rounds at Palmetto. I've seen it before.
It was when they renovated it and now after too. So yeah, I love that course.
Yeah. So you got a platform called Weekenders Weekly, right? Yes, sir. We'll love for you to tell
everyone what that platform's all about, how it came to be and yeah, and where you want to take it from
here. Cool. I appreciate that opportunity for a ball. But yeah, you know, Weekenders Weekly,
it was kind of, I have been a writer for forever, honestly. And when I started getting big into golf,
realize like, you know, so many stories and cool moments and ideas are trapped in golf and I could
use words to kind of get them out. And it kind of led me to go on this journey of trying to pursue
professional sports writing with an angle on golf. And it kind of all came to a head about a few
months ago where I was just sitting around waiting, you know, reaching after this opportunity,
that opportunity, like chasing people. And that's the right thing to do. But the whole time
I'm doing that, the industry is just moving along. And I kind of had to come to a point where I said to
myself, I was like, well, I just kind of have to do it, you know, and I have, I know what to write,
and I just need that platform. So I kind of said, screw it. I made my own platform weekenders
weekly. We started off as a newsletter where once a week, we would, you know, have something
sent to your inbox, a little bit of instruction, a little bit of news, and then a social media
aspect as well, mainly Instagram, where it's kind of half, I would say marketing and that it's
connected to what I'm writing about. And half more influencer style videos, on course videos, and
aspirations to go into more YouTube and podcasting as well.
Yeah, it's not.
It's dope.
I remember when we first met, it was that, it was that the Malbonne?
It was, yeah, the Melbourne undefeated.
Yeah, yeah.
And which Malban, you know, shout out to them.
They got some dope shit.
And I'm glad to have a Miami store now because, I mean, it's dangerous, but I'm glad
it's there.
Great location.
But when you were telling me about it, I was like, damn, that's dope.
Like, you know, something that that you can consume that's like light and easy,

colorful my personality and to give a more in-depth whether I'm talking to a person or about a person
kind of give a bit more flavor to it than I could with just writing so it's fun to be able to use
both on the same topic sometimes and now if someone wants to consume it it's you can find it on your
website yes sir weekendusweekly.com and we're also weekenders weekly on instagram TikTok
YouTube and you know I guess podcast will be the same name as well unless I think of some weekenders weekly
the something podcast it'll happen yeah yeah 100% pod obviously is our bread and butter and we love it
i think it's always a cool channel it's a supplement like writing you know because you can read a 5-10 minute
you know 20-minute article whatever that article is but sometimes like having a deeper conversation
around that topic in in a podcast format i think is really cool too yeah and i think what's cool too
about being able to borrow from different mediums is not just like the different ways i'm able to
speak to people, but the different people that it can speak to, you know. So when I have a more
traditional print article, it will usually go out to an older audience that is more, you know,
reading things online or going to their email versus, you know, a more modern kind of
influencer-style thing where you just find it by scrolling, which is definitely more geared to a
younger audience. So I kind of like to think of myself as filling almost that generational gap
where I'm teaching some younger people about the older ways of golf in their format, whereas the
older people, I can teach about the younger areas of golf in their more comfortable format.
And I think podcasting also is cool in that it can almost sit in the middle of it.
It's something that's so familiar and traditional and it's just very conversational.
So I think that's a great edge to have as well.
Looking forward to when that podcast comes out.
I'd be great, man.
You know, obviously the vision is here, dude.
We can help out with that whenever that time comes.
But obviously, you've been in Miami for a long time.
I got to ask you, what's your top five quarter?
lineup in Miami.
Considering that we don't have many courses at this point.
Yeah.
It's over there.
You would think that Miami would have so much more.
I will say Miami's great and that most of our courses are public.
It's not like New York where there's a million courses, but they're all private.
Or even if you go up to like Boca.
Yeah.
All private.
Good point.
Yeah.
So we do have like that access and there's in the way we may not have a, you know,
the largest sample size.
They're usually public.
But yo, that's tough.
Are we going, okay.
You can include, I guess you can include some private, like you can
include private in there. I think it's fair considering. Okay. We'll see, we'll see. I think I can get
honestly, my list might be all public to start with, but what I want to know is, is it the
course layout itself or like the course overall? We don't have to do the course in the food,
the course in this, but is it just overall experience? I would say overall experience, yeah.
Okay, okay. For the sake of the fact that I personally believe that Miami Golf tea times are
kind of inflated right now, I'm going to just strip tea time away. I'm going to go on the course,
like the layout and the overall experience,
but we're not, just because all courses are inflated, unfortunately, right now, to me,
at least, and yes, I would say, number one, I love the Biltmore, man.
I've been going to the Biltmore since I was like literally five years old.
I didn't even play golf.
I would just go with my family, have a great time.
And every time I go, I mean, I love seeing the hotel.
It's so beautiful there.
And the layout is awesome.
The people there are usually pretty chill.
Number two, just because I've done, I've played so many.
rounds there. I held my tournament, the Crest Cup there, and I've seen some of the most
unbelievable things you've ever seen on a golf course there was Pometto, yo. I mean, I'm talking
like one hole you'll have a stick hitting like his six iron to two feet from 180 out,
and the next hole you'll have some guy shirtless walking around with two bags of golf balls
asking if he can sell them to you. That sounds about right. I love that. You got two sides of
that. Three, you know, for three, I'm going to have to go, I'm going to say Granada, man. I was
I'm a huge Granada fan.
It's a great walkable course too.
That's like one of the only courses I'll walk.
And I think that the whole kind of, you know, the location of it, the air around it, it's so peaceful.
You have a great day there.
And right now they have some problems, unfortunately.
Not even their fault, but it's usually kept up awesome, especially for public course.
Number four, I'll have to say Normandy Shores, man.
Normandy Shores is a beautiful, beautiful course.
People don't talk about that course or not.
The best, it's good.
It's terrible.
I have to say this on a podcast.
Now, everyone's going to know, but the best bang for your buck deal in Miami for golf.
$112, South Florida resident on a weekend.
Of course, it's beautiful.
Range buckets included in that price.
And number five, you know what?
I'm going to keep it all public.
And I'm going to go, I'm going to go Killian Greens, man.
Killingham, Killion cracked the top five.
I'm going to go killing greens, yo.
Just because sitting here with Dre makes me think about all the good times I had there,
smelling the barbecue, yo.
And, you know, this is one of the courses where it's really all about the experience.
Like, I've had a lot of fun days there.
And most of the time, I'm having a good time when I'm not looking down at the color of the
grass.
But that is okay.
People have the nickname.
They want to put out there, Killiam Browns.
I'm like, don't disgrace my home course like that.
Yo, come on.
It's the home course.
So for the one time, it's in the top five.
And you know what?
I honestly think it's a great layout, dude.
I always have a good layout, especially if you're just trying to get some reps in and
you want to, you know, you're not the greens are.
not going to be rolling. It's not the most challenging course in the world, but you're going to
get there and you're going to get your reps in and you're going to have a great time doing it.
If you're talking like Miami- Miami golf as well, like you've got to talk about it.
Like that is like, right in Kendall, you know, I mean, I'm there. If you wake up on a Saturday and you're
like, fuck it, bro, I just want to book a tea time.
That's where you go, dude. Yeah, come on. Gas carts. Yeah, always a good time there.
I still haven't gone to Apocalypse Barbecue and I hear that they're moving locations.
I think they're going somewhere like West Kendall area or something like that. I mean, they had to.
That place is always packed.
They need more space.
They've been trying.
They've added like six new smokers there.
Really?
Yeah.
It's a massive operation.
Good for them.
Good for them.
I just wish it as a food truck and from food truck to, you know, that spot there in Kalyan, like sharing the clubhouse.
And then now a whole ass restaurant.
I just wish I went when he was still at the golf course.
I would have been sick, dude.
Get my ribs at the turn and emolish him for that 10th hole.
And I like that 10th hole too.
It's short.
It is.
It's a good, good time, good vibes, but appreciate you for coming on, brother.
Weekenders weekly.
Thanks for having me.
Got to check them out.
It's a good, good little newsletter that they're producing and a lot more extra content
coming around golf and like fashion.
I know you do a ton of fashion too.
So check them out and we'll do this again soon for sure.
Appreciate that, bro.
Thanks, guys.
There, guys.
