Good morning and Buenos Dias.
Welcome back to Caffecito and Crockettas presented by Stay Tranquilo and Agent Co.
And happy Monday, everyone.
Buenos de lunes, everyone.
Good Monday.
You know, and a new guy, a new face.
I'm not Andre.
A new face showing joining us for the first time to share the good news going on on this beautiful Monday.
The Mad Panther himself, David Hong Kong.
Welcome to Calatista and Croquitos, dude.
Excited to be here.
Excited to be here.
It's a nice early.
It is early.
It's early.
It's early.
It's an early Monday morning, but nonetheless, brother, I'm, you know, happy to have you here to share.
I'm happy to be here.
You know, some of the good news.
So obviously, you know, you're riding high, right?
Very high.
Good weekend for you guys.
Obviously, good weekend for you.
A week for you.
And, you know, but definitely, you know, we're just going to touch on, you know,
just some of this good stuff happening.
Yeah.
Around Miami, around our community.
And to kind of stay on theme with the whole, you know, vibe with the show.
There's actually a police officer right now in North Miami Beach
that started a,
Lunchtime Domino Club at Dr. Michael Crop.
And basically his goal, connect communities, connect cultures, connect, you know, different backgrounds
and kind of join everyone through Domino's.
And he's doing this at, so you said what school?
Dr. Michael Crop, high school, North Miami Beach.
And basically he started up this, you know, this Domino Club with a couple of students.
And apparently, you know, from what I've read, it's become kind of a little tradition, right?
Instead of kids, you know, going, being on their phones during lunch, they go, you know, talk over some dominoes.
You know, they just hang out.
That's the way to do it.
The actual cop is there.
He's actually there interacting, playing Domino's of the kids.
So, I mean, what do you think about that?
You know, what do you think about, you know, hanging out, you know, instead of being on your phones during lunch in this area, you know, you get, you know, you kind of connect with the culture of Domino's.
And Dominole spans about so many cultures, not just.
Not just a Cuban thing.
Not just Cuban, you have Dominican, you have Caribbean.
Yeah.
You know, it's everywhere.
No, expands.
I think it's awesome.
I think it's a cool way to obviously integrate different cultures like you mentioned.
But it's, yeah, it's like a way that, like, you know, you're sitting down playing Domino's, you're, you know, actually.
you know, actually talking to people instead of texting people, you know.
It's a way that, you know, to connect people, it's a way that, first off, it's a blast.
I mean, we got literally Domino's right here.
Exactly.
We're doing this on a Domino's table.
And so it's a great game.
It's a great time.
And being able to connect that and doing it with a school.
And I remember the best things for me about lunch or that, you know, one, you're just sitting around with your boys and you're chatting.
And that's when, you know, really the only time of the day that you get to,
to be with them, like, you know, without a teacher or being in class.
So this is just kind of a unique way to do it that, you know,
not only are you eating, but you're playing dominoes.
So it's a cool, cool little thing that you start up.
I mean, it's awesome.
You know, we always talk about, you know, connecting the next generation with our cultures,
you know, bringing them closer.
It's cool.
So, you know, it's awesome to see, you know, this police officer taking the initiative
to bring them together and, you know, to do something that you don't see a lot,
which is just, you know, shooting it, shooting the stuff over some dominoes
and just, you know, getting the,
the face away from technology.
But, you know, that's just one of the amazing things happening in our community.
Obviously, a lot of big events happening.
Three Points Festival over the weekend.
Yes.
I went, yes.
I heard it was a banger.
I heard.
I heard that too.
I heard it was a banger.
Yeah, I worked.
I'm going to be in the midtown, Woodwood area today.
So I remember I was there Thursday and they were setting everything up.
It looked awesome.
Every year, I always said I want to go, but I haven't been had a chance to go to it.
but every story that I see of people there, it looks awesome.
I don't know.
I'm not much of a raver.
I'm not the rave type.
But, you know, if I had to just, I think, you know, to experience it.
Yeah.
But I don't think I'm a, you know, head banging.
Have you ever, have.
So, because that is three points is, is, is, is it more rock or EDM?
It's much, I think it's EDM.
It's more EDR.
It's more like an EDM.
Okay.
So it's kind of, like, it's kind of basic.
Not kind of, but like, I mean, ultra is old EDM too.
I think OCHR is more like an international thing.
I think three points is more like a kind of like a local, yeah.
kind of thing.
But obviously a very big crowd.
A lot of big DJs made an appearance.
So, you know,
and we have a very big EDM community out here,
especially people that, you know,
come for Florida.
You know,
they love EDM music.
I'm sure a lot of people travel for it.
Another thing happening this weekend
is actually starting tomorrow
is Miami Fashion Week.
We touched on it on Friday,
but obviously Miami Fashion Week.
For all the you fashion enthusiasts,
obviously,
all the fashionistas.
I mean, of course, I'm already,
I'm ready for it.
I'm ready for Fashion Week right now.
We scream fashion in the studio.
Yes, exactly.
Exactly.
But, you know, walking down, walking down the little catwalk in my jersey.
So, you know, definitely going to be a lot of events happening around, you know,
different fashion shows, different venues, different activations.
Yeah.
For fashion week.
You know, as now the fall seasons come up.
A lot of food festivals.
The time of the year.
You got the South Beach Sea Food Festival coming out too.
That's going to be happening.
I believe this week as well.
Oh, really?
A lot of stuff, you know, and everything.
And, you know, the city's starting to move.
Oh, yeah.
A lot of good stuff happening.
Another good thing happening in our community.
Overtown, I believe, just got a $175 million boost to help that community.
Nice.
So, you know, some big developments happening over there.
You know, hopefully, you know, boost that community, you know, boost the public services,
whether it's parks, whether it's parks and wrecks, you know, gyms, whatever it may be.
So, you know, amazing to see that community getting a boost, such a historic community,
so much culture that's got through there, you know, a staple down here in Miami.
And, you know, it's always amazing to see, you know, communities where, you know, the stipulation is,
you know, lower income, stuff like that.
But obviously to see a community like that, you know,
get a much needed support, you know, backing through the community,
through, you know, whoever it may be, public officials,
whatever it may be.
But amazing to see a community like that, get some work, you know,
brighten up that city, fix up the facilities to, you know,
not only help, you know, the businesses in that community,
but also, you know, just give platforms for the youth to be being raised up in that city
to obviously grow and prosper in, you know, in their environments and their communities.
Yeah.
And.
100%
Now the big thing, right?
October's turning up.
October's tuning in.
We got Halloween coming up.
A lot of stuff happening for Halloween.
You got your spooky bar crawls.
You got your, you know, the kids already starting to pick up their costumes.
So what I want to ask you is, what would you say are your three best costumes you've ever pulled off for a Halloween season?
Three best costumes.
I know what my number one favorite costume is.
And it's, it's, I'm going to save that one for last.
I'll start with some of the three.
So I did one that was easy.
It was just, I was just a giant beer.
That one was fun, but actually for a bar crawl,
it was actually for bar crawl.
Literally, it was just like a giant beer costume.
I've done Han Solo.
I'm a big Saw Wars guy,
so Han Solo was a fun one for me.
Went out for that one.
But my favorite one, my favorite costume I've ever done
is that most kids, you know,
I was a big Jurassic Park guy.
Me and Andre were actually a big Jurassic Park guys.
I've gone as Alan as from Dress Park.
Most people would.
No, I went one year as a giant T-Rex.
I was actually, not even from Dress Park,
I was Aladar from the movie Dinosaur.
Okay.
Yes, it was like an old Disney animation movie?
Yes, but I was literally a fool-on head of it,
but you can see my little face through it,
and he had for some reason a giant belly,
like Al-Dar had his belly.
So that is going to be my favorite costume.
I'm going to get you a picture so you can post it on this thing.
Okay, okay.
But yeah, Aladar is my favorite Halloween costume.
So my best Halloween costumes.
So number, for number three, I'm going to say I was naturally with it one year.
Oh, that's a perfect costume.
But not like Luchador outfit, I was like the recreational outfit.
Like the light blue with the white pants.
It's like, those are these are my PJs.
These are my recreational clothing.
Yeah.
You got to bring that back.
That's a good one for you.
That's a good one for you.
I might have to bring it back.
I mean, it was a hit.
Yeah.
It was a hit.
Number two when I was little, you know, this is like an infamous picture of me and my friends kind of used to make fun of me.
But I was a vampire hunter.
Oh, sick.
But I wore like black lipstick and stuff.
Okay.
Never one.
It was, I wore like all this like white like clown pain.
Okay.
Put that one on the show too, by the way.
I really took it up.
Like I had like this little like blade that came out of my hand.
And I look back at him like, dude, like, but would you let me wear this, bro?
It's so bad.
It's so bad.
So that was, I would say that was number two.
And then number one.
I mean, it was the iconic Red Power Ranger.
The muscle suit.
I was a little kindergarten guy
with like an A-pack, huge pection.
I was just like, ugh, look at me.
I'm the Red Power Ranger.
So, you know, I would say those are, you know,
some of my favorite, some of my favorite costumes.
But, you know, Halloween obviously is a big time here in Miami.
A lot of people, you know, dressing up now.
You kind of, you know, really finally dive into the fall season
right before November.
I think Halloween, this is actually on a Friday.
It's a Friday.
It's a Friday.
Friday of all days, you know, it's going to be Friday, Halloween.
But, you know, the bar crawls are starting because obviously next week and it's already November.
Yeah, yeah.
You want to get it all in the way.
So a lot of barcrawls happening this weekend.
I got one thing for you, actually.
Have you noticed a little bit of a little temperature change?
It is.
I've noticed.
I've noticed it's light, but it's, it's coming.
So we had an early start today and I went outside and I was chilly.
Yeah.
It was like, it was like a balmy, like mid-70s, kind of mid-to-low 70s.
It was nice.
Which for us is like cold, by the way.
I actually.
It was not from Miami.
Miami listening. I actually had to turn off my
AC when I got into my car today.
Wow. Interesting, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was an interesting. But, you know, obviously,
you know, the times are changing,
you know. I love it. We don't have, our trees
don't change colors here. No, they don't.
But the temperature is getting cooler and obviously,
you know, it's always a good vibe,
you know, as the holidays, you know, finally kind of deep
diving after a long summer, a hot summer,
you know, now you start getting to the holiday season,
you get your fall, then you get your Thanksgiving.
And obviously Christmas, and we're looking way ahead,
but, you know, it's an awesome time now.
obviously a lot of events happen around Miami.
And it's a great time for events because, you know, the weather's a little bit cooler.
It's my favorite time.
You know, we had a sweaty.
We talked about it last time.
You know, people actually get to go all enjoy the weather a little bit.
Do a couple of the outdoor events.
And yeah, no, it's amazing.
But, and then, you know, one more thing to wrap up the show.
Obviously, you know, a little bit I want to say a sad note, but it's an inspiring, you know,
Nicholas Children's Hospital just recently honored.
One of the one of the young girls that were affected in the boat crash happened a couple years back.
you know, obviously we all know
the boat crash that took the life
of a very young girl, you know, from the Arlida Lourdesk
High School, but
one of the girls that she did make a recovery
obviously, she was left, you know, disabled from her
injuries, but she was honored,
you know, displayed her strength at the Nicholas Children's
Ball, you know, advocating for
you know, pediatric health, pediatric services,
pediatric emergency services.
Gatti Puig,
is her name, you know, such a strong
message to have her out there
with her family. You know, I think
there are,
there's a picture of her flexing at the ball,
you know,
showing her strength,
you know,
through everything that she's been
through the last,
you know,
a couple of years,
you know,
all the adversity,
you know,
with her health
that she suffered through
their injuries.
But, you know,
an amazing show of strength,
you know,
from her to be out there
and to be honored
and to be recognized
for her resilience.
And, you know,
and not only her resilience,
but the family's resilient
standing by her side,
you know,
praying over her.
And, you know,
it's amazing to see,
you know,
not only the work of our doctors,
but to see,
you know,
how much strength.
you know, the youth has on a generation and, you know, how much strength they can show through
their hardships. And unfortunately, it was a massive hardship that she had to go through.
Yeah. No, no. I sent to piggyback on everything you said. It's just, it's a really nice
moment. And it's also, yeah, it's inspiring and shout out to her for doing. Shout out to
Nicholas Children's Hospital. So that's a great thing they did by honoring her. Yeah. So, you know,
obviously there's always amazing stuff. There's always amazing stories happening in our community.
And, you know, we're so blessed out of this platform to be able to show you.
that with you guys. And, you know, we're only going to keep on wrapping it up. We're going to try to
bring you the good news every Monday to help you start off the week. You know, call us your little
daily dose of Cafacito to get your day started. But with that, Dave, thank you for joining me
this morning. Thank you for joining Cafesito and Corpitas presented by State Tanquin
Nationcoe. And cheers to a beautiful week, everyone.
Cheers.
