Starting point is 00:00:00 It's crazy because the dynamic of sports, especially kids, essentially, has changed so much. Obviously, NIL has blown up over the last few years. And these kids didn't have access to the money that they obviously have access now. So I feel like that's been a big component for that for sure. Yeah, and it's truly just educating them. I know we got, we're getting together on this project. We'll have a panel of speakers there. And it's just teaching families and kids there on their true potential.
Starting point is 00:00:30 and money that, yeah, it's not like generational wealth, but it's money that can make sure when they get out of college if football doesn't work out, that they have a solid foundation to start life. What is going on, everybody? Welcome back to another episode of the State Tranquilo pod. We're here with Duaso and Mike Lear. Mike from 305 sports, and you're behind.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Beyond the goalpost. Beyond the goalpost. So today's pod is essentially going to be back. into the platforms that they've created. They're very big down here in South Florida, across everything sports. So you guys have a great platform that you've created, and we're definitely excited to showcase it.
Starting point is 00:02:38 So I want you guys to have a floor, tell everyone kind of what your platforms are, and then we can get into a little bit about why you started it and where you guys are today. So I'll let you start it off, tell them a little bit about 305 sports. For sure. So yeah, my name is Michael, born and raised in Miami.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Started 305 sports in January 2020. My junior year high school, I used to, you know, I played varsity basketball for a little bit. But that junior year came around and I was like, yeah, like this is not going to be long term for me. So wanted to still stick in the world of sports, get into sports media. And I created 305 sports with my twin brother, Anthony.
Starting point is 00:03:16 You know, we've grinded consistently during COVID. We were going like all day with a sports blog. Then we turned it strictly social media. It's been growing ever since. over 190,000 followers on Instagram, 68,000 on TikTok, consistently growing, building relationships, planting seeds with a lot of these athletes.
Starting point is 00:03:36 So, you know, for us, the sky's the future for sure. Absolutely, no. That's impressive. In today's age, it's not obviously easy to do that because it's a lot more competitive than it was, you know, 10, 15 years ago. So that's sick. When you said that you started during COVID,
Starting point is 00:03:51 what, I guess, like, what you said you start off with a blog, Like, were you physically writing blogs that you guys were then putting, like, on a website? Yeah, so we were doing it through WordPress, just writing articles every day, like recaps from, you know, high school to college and NFL. Like, honestly, we were writing about anything. Like, a kid can get on the, some, a player on the Dolphins can get on the COVID exemption list, and we're writing an article on that. Like, just repetition, honestly, just to keep the article, the website fresh with four or five new articles every day, you know, sharing that on Facebook groups, on Twitter, Instagram, everything. Like, just really a grind.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Like, we were trying to get used to it as well. It was our first time. So just trying to get that experience under us. And then we started doing very well with social media, especially when we started tapping into the high school football scene. And, you know, we ran with it. We started going, attacking it heavily. And, yeah, we've been growing ever since.
Starting point is 00:04:41 That's sick, man. Congrats on that. That's cool. Thank you. And so you got beyond the goalpost, so you want to tell them a little bit about what that is? So as a nonprofit, me and a few group of guys started to really, really push
Starting point is 00:04:54 South Florida football as elite and even the elite in the United States with financial literacy, scholarship opportunities, we feed the homeless, we operate a seven-on-seven team through it, so we have our kids on it, we take them
Starting point is 00:05:12 to camps, tournaments to improve their national ratings, their viability with using guys like 305 sports, OT7, the overtime platform battle, they they post our kids, they'll go viral that helps them with their NIL now. Nice.
Starting point is 00:05:28 And they're marketing and just boosting up their platforms. Why a big reason we've partnered with U.S. Sports on the tournament that we're having on July 20th is just giving these kids a better platform to excel and help them grow. Right. And that's our biggest why. We operated team raw through it. We're very fortunate for a guy like Ricky Jean Francois, who was an 11-year NFL vet.
Starting point is 00:05:53 from Carroll City has been very successful in business, has taught some of our kids financial literacy because a lot of these four and five stars are making six figures per year. So it's just teaching them how to budget, how to live their life and hopefully not go broke. Yeah, that's cool. I mean, it's crazy because the dynamic of sports,
Starting point is 00:06:12 especially kids essentially, has changed so much. Obviously, NIO has blown up over the last few years. And these kids didn't have access to the money that they obviously have access now. So I feel like that's been a big component for that for sure. Yeah, and it's truly just educating them. I know we got, we're getting together on this project. We'll have a panel of speakers there.
Starting point is 00:06:34 And it's just teaching families and kids there on their true potential. And money that, yeah, it's not like generational wealth, but it's money that can make sure when they get out of college, if football doesn't work out, that they have a solid foundation to start, start life. So that's what we're really trying to do. We have Cam Kitchens part of our nonprofit, DJ Ivy. So it's a lot of fun. Some guys that are in the NFL from down here, Ricky, so we have those three guys. And they really help put their hands on the kids, mentor them. And it's been a massive
Starting point is 00:07:10 blessing for us. That's awesome. And then operating as a nonprofit, are you partnering with like foundations to generate a lot of these funds? So we are the foundation. We go out and get sponsors. Like them, through our 7-on-7 team, we've been blessed to grow our TikTok to 300 and like 5,000 followers. Our Instagram's close to like 30,000 followers. Nice. So we've built out nice platforms in today's game. We have a great social media crew and content crew. And they've done a fabulous job helping us build.
Starting point is 00:07:45 So we've gone out and sponsors like the Mesman and Dover, a law firm that's down here, was a vital piece in our, success this year for traveling and all that. They were our big sponsor. We have some private donors as well that like just to help all the community get the kids to when we get to these colleges, we take them on college visits. We visited SMU. We got a kid his first college scholarship offer from SMU. On this trip, he had no offers and that's where we open the doors. When we're in Dallas for OT7, we actually filled up 500 boxes to feed about 2,000 people. so in disaster relief areas that we partnered with Mercy Kitchen so it was awesome and real good experience for our kids
Starting point is 00:08:30 that's cool I mean it's cool because it's like a full circle thing right you're getting the publicity that comes across like your guys platform your platform right and then on top of it you're educating them and then on top of it you're giving them opportunities to get scholarships through your own foundation and then the publicity to maybe just land an actual scholarship with a with a school. So it's like a full circle opportunity for these kids. Yeah, we like to call like a nice ecosystem of opportunity for these kids, put them in the in the right path. And honestly, they've, 305 sports have done a great job at just South Florida, giving our kids the platform to be seen go viral. Like these guys stay going viral. Had the NFL while posting them yesterday.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Yeah. Yeah. I know you guys made. So it's, it's awesome what they've done for this community. And when we partnered together, we just thought it was a no-brainer. We're doing that Ransom Everglary. It's probably the prettiest field in South Florida, right on the water. And just giving these kids an opportunity to ball and for them to catch it on their cameras and post it on social for them. So, yeah, I guess let's get into that. Tell us a little bit about the tournament that's coming up at Ransom.
Starting point is 00:09:39 What's that going to look like? Yeah, so it's a 7-all-7 tournament, 16 teams from South Florida, trying to have some of the top teams in attendance, a lot of three, four, star kids, you know, very talented on the offense and defensive side of the ball. Honestly, you know, we wanted to put on a good event for the community. You know, we know we have the platform and events like this are only like, like we, something that we really want to do moving forward. Like the goal for this year is to obviously put up a successful event, have a great time, give the, you know, the winner of the event $5,000, which will go a long way for the programs. And then eventually, you know, branch out into the rest of the state of the, of the, of a great time. Florida, you know, and just grow it as much as we can.
Starting point is 00:10:17 I think this is a great event for the community. Something good for the teams to, you know, build chemistry and, you know, just something good to before the season starts. Definitely will start it earlier next year. Okay. We're kind of a late window in July 20th. First year, you guys do this essentially? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Yeah. Okay. So, but yeah, I mean. So I've been in seven on seven on the like, let's say, AAU side. Right. For eight years now, I'm hopping into the scholastic side. I've always had a team. I know how the events go.
Starting point is 00:10:46 We partnered up with some great guys that put on events. So is your team technically playing in this tournament? Guys that play on my team will be playing for their high school. So with my team, that's like AAU club elite status. This is Scholastic, which they'll be representing their high school with their high school coaches. And like that's where we're kind of headed in the summer. In the summer, they go back to their high schools. They got to prep for the season.
Starting point is 00:11:11 and our windows in the spring from like about January to April. And now we're in the Scholastic side. And that's why we wanted to get back to the community. We're at 5,000 in year one. Hopefully we could scale it larger, like he said, go out through the state, put on some more regionals and then have an actual state championships, our end goal in this. But obviously we're in year one.
Starting point is 00:11:33 We want to crush this event. We've got some cool sponsors getting involved with us. And just excited for the future of this. What, I guess out of that event, like what would you guys, would you guys want to do this like multiple times a year? Is it a once a year type of event? Do you see opportunity to take this outside of the state of Florida? Like how would you guys see how you would scale it out essentially? Do you want to answer that one? Yeah, I got you. So yeah, I think in year one, it's just focusing on South Florida. Year two, try to scale to the entire state. Okay. Probably have three or four regionals in the summer all around like the same.
Starting point is 00:12:10 couple weekend format than have a state championship a few weeks later. That would be for next year. This year, yeah, we would probably do one, maybe get into an event at the end of the year that we are discussing behind closed doors, just trying to figure out and see if we could close that deal. Cool. Yeah, we do want to put on more events for the community. If it's seven on seven, if it's an all-star game, if it's a Little League showcase, we,
Starting point is 00:12:36 at Raw, we have our own showcase. They've come and covered our showcase many times. for the last two years. They've really helped give a good platform for our kids that make a nasty catch in our one-on-one. So, yeah, like, we definitely want to... This is our first event, but not our last, and we're definitely want to go headfirst
Starting point is 00:12:57 into the event space together. Cool. Yeah, well, it's sick. It's cool. It's crazy how, like, big something like this could be. You see, like you said, like the virality of it. And I'm sure when you... started it you weren't even thinking it would become like what it became no no honestly not um not until
Starting point is 00:13:16 we started getting into more vertical content like and instagram really started like pushing reels right like that's when we kind of knew like okay this is what we're going to target we started posting a couple kids like just honestly like a lot of these kids we saw success when they started in high school make some plays get to college make some plays get drafted you know and the story keeps going and it's just a consistent chain of guys that are going from the high school level in South Florida to college, putting on in college, then to the ultimate NFL.
Starting point is 00:13:47 So we've really found success in just doing that consistently, the Jeremiah Smiths, the Cameron Kitchens, guys like that, Kalidja Kansi, like guys like that we've been covering them so consistently, like it helps us our brand grow and really just gain the credibility and trust in the community. Which is big. credibility is big.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Which they give the, they give the South Florida kids that raw and uncut, um, just platform to show like who they are. And when you do that for a South Florida kid, like I see a firsthand because of raw and our seven on seven team on how we've blown up on social. It's like you give South Florida a platform that,
Starting point is 00:14:27 that could showcase who they are and their characters. They're, they're going to go viral because they're very funny. Yeah. It's, it's entertaining. I mean, On the other side of it, like being like a consumer of like sports content, you see stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:14:42 I mean, dude, you'll go down a rabbit hole on that. Yeah. Because it's just entertaining. It's awesome. Like, look, like on the elite side of seven on seven year, we're on NFL network now. That's cool. Like, the viewers love it. Like, we get seven figure views.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Do they televise any of those tournaments? Yeah. So they televise them this year. And then that's when I realized like we need to dive into this galastic seven on seven world. Right. That's an untapped market. that I think people aren't really focused on. I think seven-on-seven in my world's very saturated.
Starting point is 00:15:14 There's a new tournament popping up every year. There's a new team every week. Very AAU like where it's going. But Scholastic, it's also doing good for the community. And that's what we really want to make an emphasis on is bring in sponsors, educate families, educate kids, help all programs with a donation to the winning programs, obviously make it a competition because football is a competition where we're all
Starting point is 00:15:41 performed. I know he played basketball. I played football. Maybe I wasn't the best football player. But we all like a sense of competition. Of course. Reward the winner. And I guess give a pat on the back to the losers.
Starting point is 00:15:54 No, no handing out trophy. No, no participation. No, no. So you go. Yeah, no, I just, it's exciting where this is headed for us. I'm excited. for you guys. I'm glad we got to connect. I wanted to ask you another question. So you're on the more on the foundation on profit side. Your model is essentially donation sponsorships. For you,
Starting point is 00:16:19 you're more of like a media outlet. So I'm assuming it's a very similar model that it's sponsorships, but obviously you're a for-profit business. Is that essentially how you monetize your platform is through sponsorships? Yeah. So definitely through like corporate sponsors, you know, getting sponsored for like games of the week, things like that, or just like events like this. It definitely is something new that will help us out as well. I'm still in college. I go to Arizona State University. That was going to be my next question. So I'm still out there. So I do also have a job, a remote job for Yahoo Sports, work in social media. I was doing that for the past year. I just got a new gig with MaxPretz doing their social media. So that's helped me out as well,
Starting point is 00:16:57 like when it comes to the financials. But recently, you know, recently we've been starting getting monetization through our content with Instagram and all of that. So that's definitely helped us out. In all honesty, like that, we definitely want to grow in that aspect. But for us, it's all about, like, just the growth. Like, we know, like, the money will come. Of course. You're doing it 100%. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:17 Just need to keep growing it. That's our, you know, our main focus putting on a good event for the community, you know, like representing the community as well. Because, you know, a lot of our new followers are not just South Florida people. Like, it's our non-followers, like, people from out of the state that are looking at our content and are looking at, like, the South Florida community and, like, really, like, giving them a good perspective. a good perspective of it.
Starting point is 00:17:37 So, you know, like, just really focus on the growth and, like, what the future holds for us. Yeah. That's cool. Yeah. You're doing great, man. Both of you guys, like, I, uh, I, you know, I tip my hat to you guys because it's awesome what, what you guys have been able to do. Um, so that kind of takes me into my next question and something that I, I always like to leave the, the audience because there's people that are aspiring to do things maybe similar to you, right? Maybe start their own nonprofit or maybe start their own, like, sports, social media,
Starting point is 00:18:05 a channel, whatever that may be. But, you know, if you wanted to say it in a sentence or if you want to go down a spiel, what would you recommend to someone that would want to start something like this? Like, what would be your advice to them? Yeah. You want me to go first? Yeah, you go first. Yeah, I would say consistency, man.
Starting point is 00:18:23 And, like, discipline, like, the consistency is so important. Because especially in the world of social media, like, after one day, like, after a week, like, nobody cares anymore. It's about something new, especially in the sports world where there's, There's so much consistent information going out every day. So, like, for us, it's been consistency. Like, for the past basically five years, we've been going every day at it, at least three posts a day, like, trying to grow as much as we can, build as many connections as we can. And, like, you know, obviously my family has been, you know, helpful in helping me, you know, achieve our goals and, you know, push and just grind the 305.
Starting point is 00:18:57 But, like, at the end of the day, like, nobody was telling me every day that I have to post this. I have to make an edit. Right. I have to go, you know, drive to Browler, drive to. to Palm Beach to go get this content. Like, I've been doing it myself, like, because of the passion that I have. And just, like, because of the consistency, like, you know, we know that's the formula to grow and everything, honestly, especially in this world of social media.
Starting point is 00:19:18 So if anybody's trying to do something similar, I would say, like, you have to have the consistency. Like, you know, I was fortunate before I started. I was, you know, I had experience with editing programs, like Photoshop, things like that. But, like, even if you don't, like, even if it's not there at the beginning, like, as long as you're consistent with it, it's really not. impossible. Like getting content with my phone clips. Like I know people that have expensive cameras that are very talented with what they do and they make great content. And I only have a phone. iPhone 15 Pro. That's it. And I'm still able to garner millions of views, thousands of likes. So
Starting point is 00:19:51 like it's really doable. Like you don't need anything like any formula except just the consistency really. Yeah. I mean of that, bro. Yeah. What are you? Yeah. With me, it's more infrastructure. I'm only as good is the team that's around me in terms of running the operations of the nonprofit, the team, from my offensive coordinator to the operations guy that I have that I know he's good at reading body language on kids and saying, hey, like, we need to pull this kid to the side and talk to him. Like, to the guy that my media guy that's amazing at capturing a video and editing it and knowing how to post it on TikTok and, like he said, getting seven figure views and, uh, and eight-figure views and nine-figure views and going crazy.
Starting point is 00:20:38 I think our biggest video was like 8 million views. So like it's cool. Like that we could achieve that, but it's all about your team, like your infrastructure. You have to have a solid support team. And from your weakest link to your head, like they have to all be like-minded.
Starting point is 00:20:58 Yeah. No, no, that's true. It's not a one-man show. It takes multiple people to make. it to make it work and really be able to scale it out yeah and like even by the bullet like we're a non-profit like we're we're we're we're we're we're we're not here making money it's it's losing money like we're we're just trying to break even and and make sure that that we'd rather use the last 20 dollars in our pocket to feed a kid on a trip and then try to make a buck out of it
Starting point is 00:21:29 yeah so like that's our biggest thing it's like having people that aren't aren't in our shes choose for the money. Like we're we're all doing it for the passion of just helping these kids and they got through our nonprofit is just seeing the smiles at the end of the day on these guys' faces. When we win, when they gain a scholarship, when they make up an amazing cash and it goes viral, when I see them we're posting all the articles written about them on 247 rivals and on three that they were the MVP or in the top performers of the tournament because they have that now. And that goes all into your rankings. Like I've seen kids on my team. not have the best of tournaments and their rankings drop.
Starting point is 00:22:07 And I've seen kids go crazy and immediately get ranked extremely high. So it's cool. It's a cool process to see. Yeah. Oh, sick. I think, like, going back to your point, you can have the most talented team in the world, but if everyone's not on the same page and on the same mission, you're not going to essentially be able to, from anything, business, sports, everything.
Starting point is 00:22:27 It's like, you've got, everyone's got to be on the same page at the end of the day. Because if not, you guys are just going to clash and it's going to take you nowhere. Yeah, for sure. I would say, like, having a twin brother that likes, like, exactly what I do, like, it definitely helped as well. They're also, like, identical. I was not about to say, are you guys like identical? We're fraternal, but we look super. Yeah, I'm not buying that because I can't tell them apart.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Yeah, that's weird. And did your brother play basketball, too? Yeah, yeah. So we did everything together. Like, we're as passionate as this. Like, he's in Connecticut right now interning at ESPN. Oh, nice. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:01 So what does he want to do? Same thing. Same. He's doing sports production right now over there. Okay. But yeah, we'll see a year from now where we're at. Of course. You know, growing out to 305 or working at a bigger company, you know, getting some experience.
Starting point is 00:23:13 It's all part of the journey, you don't really know where it's going to take you. But it'll take you somewhere that you're going to like. And I think that's the main thing at the end of the day. Yeah, we have a nice little dream team with him and Aunt and then Alec and Joel on our end when it comes to putting on this event. Cool. between our nonprofit and their media platform. So real excited. Dope.
Starting point is 00:23:37 What's your favorite moment so far on 305 sports? Like personal? Honestly, I might say like a few days ago when we had a video with Lamar Jackson and Zay Flowers. We went to Zay Flowers' youth camp. Okay. And Lamar pulled up at the end and we asked him if we could do a little video and he was super about it. super nice guy first time meeting him
Starting point is 00:24:02 He did a piece for Lamar right? Yeah he did Yeah yeah He was a great guy man And the video did very well We did two different videos Both of them did super well
Starting point is 00:24:10 And you know it was great To know that like You know Lamar Jackson Two-time MVP Obviously like represents South Florida Super well To know that He knows what we do
Starting point is 00:24:18 And you know How we put on for the community And he respects it Like I really appreciated that Like that really made me like It makes it worth it You know When you're there in the sun
Starting point is 00:24:27 You know Getting killed by that heat you know, for hours and, you're grinding it. Like, stuff like that, like, really makes it worth it for sure. Absolutely. What about you? What's been your favorite moment? Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:24:42 If you could pinpoint one. It's tough. Probably winning OT7 Dallas. I got that monkey off my back winning, like, a big time tournament on TV. We didn't win nationals this year, but next year is obviously national championship or bus. but like through the nonprofit I'm saying probably winning OT7 nationals and seeing like those kids faces like
Starting point is 00:25:06 a hobby they were that they won it on TV and that same weekend seeing Demarcus King Walker one of our receivers that plays at Central kind of his first scholarship offer to SMU which like if that's your first offer SMU's not a bad start it's an incredible university
Starting point is 00:25:24 and the coaching staff was real excited about him and just seeing Seeing the look on the kids' faces when, like, we win. Like, yeah, it's like getting the monkey. Like, our kids really wanted to win it because, like, the stigma was, like, we were the Buffalo Bills. And I watched them win it.
Starting point is 00:25:41 And, like, they, like, they had a lot of fun. So just making sure that the kids have fun. And that's what all about at the end of it. King's a good kid, man. Yeah, King's a great kid. And for him to get, like, his first offer from SMU, I think he's got USF now in a couple of things. other schools, but for SMU to be your first offer, like, it's not a bad backup plan in my
Starting point is 00:26:04 vote. Absolutely. I mean, people would kill to get that offer. Yeah, people would kill just to get that admissions. Exactly. Into that school. So just the network of that school, what they do, I know they have a good NIL platform. Now they're in the ACC, so it's a good Power 5, well, Power 4 offer.
Starting point is 00:26:21 But, yeah, man, it's my happiest moment is probably that are watching probably like, Louane McCoy just become a viral sensation for us. He created the Weezy Dance and like he was getting six, five, four, three million views every time it was posted with him dancing and like people like little kids come up to him and like hit the dance in front of them. Started like a gritty like NFL guys were hitting it. And like to see a kid and for us to help him give him that platform, it was incredible. Well, I'm the biggest Weasie fan, even though he is a knoll.
Starting point is 00:27:02 That's my guy, Elaine. So I'm happy to see him. They gave him an awesome platform as well. Yeah. You guys kind of blew him up because he had to drop that. With the dance? No, he dropped an I&T and the IMG game. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Right before the goal line, but they ruled it a touchdown. Yeah. And they beat IMG off of that. Oh, wow. So it went like mega viral that he dropped the I&T before it. So he already had a name, and then he started doing this dance and it. That's funny. Went crazy.
Starting point is 00:27:29 So I would break it down into two moments. Just winning that championship on TV and watching how happy those kids were. And probably Louaigne McCoy just becoming a household name for every little kid in the country. Hell yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Loane was one of those, like, one of those stories you love to see in, like, the cover, like, the storytelling behind that. Like, he transferred in from Avant Garde to Miami Central.
Starting point is 00:27:54 Came in, did his thing in seven-on-seven, then came to the football scene. He's fluent in sign language, his mother's deaf. Oh, wow. Yeah, so he comes. Yeah, so he's fluid in sign language. Oh, that's cool. If you type in his name on YouTube over time, did a 15-minute documentary piece on him, his life.
Starting point is 00:28:12 And just to see the smile that he has knowing what he's gone through in life and seeing him go viral now at Florida State, I'm just thrilled to see where he's headed in life. Yeah, it is crazy. I mean, the adversity that some of these kids have to go. through. Like, you know, football is an outlet for a lot of them, which is, which is why it's so powerful, I think. Then you see them on the other side coming out. I mean, you see all these guys in the NFL now, NBA, pro, you know, the pros that you hear their stories. Like,
Starting point is 00:28:45 like, how many of those guys have you heard? Like, I slept with eight of my siblings in a bedroom while my mom worked like six jobs, you know? Like, it's crazy what they were able to overcome and what they've become. And yet they're still so positive. And like you said, like they're dancing. And like life isn't necessarily perfect for them, but they're still enjoying every moment to the fullest, which I've always admired that about those type of guys.
Starting point is 00:29:10 Definitely. No, yeah, for sure. Weasley's always in his, he has a reason about it. He does his thing on the field so he could hit his dance. You got to back it up at the end of the day. Yeah. A lot of these kids do, you know. And if you don't, then you get exposed.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Exactly. That's how it works. Exactly. If you came back at up, people will not just fade off into the sunset. But the cream always rises to the top. 100%. So before wrap it up, I want to talk a little bit about your take on South Florida sports. Obviously, all the way from the pro level right now, we got Panthers coming off with Stanley Cup final.
Starting point is 00:29:46 We got the Finns, which I think is a lot of hype around the Finns the last two years. And going into this season, the Tua talk. And then obviously the heat are always, rather than what do you guys think? Is it a good time for Miami sports right now? I think last year was definitely like, I mean, didn't win any championships. So like definitely like peak, UM was in the final four. The Panthers went to Stanley Cup. Marlins were in the playoffs, dolphins, being a dolphins, he were in the finals, you know.
Starting point is 00:30:17 But, you know, it was a good time for sure. This past year, kind of tough with Boston winning, like definitely kind of. That hurts, yeah. Kind of tough. At least a... Such a brutally easy road for them, unfortunately. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:30 But... Ridiculous. You know, I'm very interested to see how the UN football team does. Obviously, August 31st against UF is a big game. It's a big game. A very important game. A lot of hype on that team this year. I actually...
Starting point is 00:30:42 I'm always on the Kool-Aid. I get dunked on by a lot of my friends, but I'm on the Kool-Aid hard this year. A lot of people are on the Kool-A. Yeah, I'm on the 10-11 win. Kool-Aid. I think that's a fair. I think the dolphins need to pay to a...
Starting point is 00:30:59 See, I've heard... Lock him in. Lock into a long-term. I agree with that. I agree. We need to lock him in. Make sure he makes his home in South Florida. I agree.
Starting point is 00:31:07 Big Tua guy. Me too. So... I defend that guy to the day I die. I defend him to the day that I die, so... Huh? I'll defend them to the day. Me too, bro.
Starting point is 00:31:17 I've gone in some heated arguments about... Oh, trust me. I have guys texting me in the middle of games about... I'm like, what? What's wrong with you? Like, can't you just enjoy this for what it is? Oh, dude, imagine that. And then when you personally know the athletes,
Starting point is 00:31:30 so they, like, hit you up so, like, you could tell the athlete something? I was like, you really think I'm like, yeah, who's going to do that? My boy, you know, that, like, you gave up a touchdown. Like, yo, bro. Yeah. My boy was very upset. Yeah, yeah. Go fight, guy.
Starting point is 00:31:43 People are ridiculous. People are ridiculous. But, no, I think South Florida sports is heading the right direction. Mm-hmm. The cats obviously brought the cup home. That was nice. South Florida is obviously the biggest heat. No, they are.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Not they are. They're not a big hockey fan, but my brother-in-law is a big hockey fan. So I've always watched it, see the cats win. Yeah, they're fun to watch. Play-off hockey's fun. Yeah, no, playoff hockey's elite.
Starting point is 00:32:11 And the Panthers being good, even the regular season games are pretty entertaining. Mm-hmm. So the way-up hockey's a hold another level. The heat, let's see. Riles said that he likes a... He thinks it's a... He likes a roster.
Starting point is 00:32:23 I think he's like the roster. Honestly, I've been saying it too. Do you think the same case? No, I think they get Tyler Hero or the Sheschuan. I haven't been high on Tyler Hero. Look, this is my take on Tyler Hero. I think he had this year to prove it and he didn't. So now it's time to move on.
Starting point is 00:32:42 But the problem is the market's not going to be what it was. You're not going to get what you could have gotten for Tyler. Yeah. And they don't want to give up their young guys. Yeah. I like Tyler Hero. Honestly. No, so do I, but
Starting point is 00:32:54 What role he's going to play? Mm-hmm. He did. Mm-hmm. But it's a lot of what-ups. It is a lot of what-ups. Of course. Right.
Starting point is 00:33:21 When you're missing guys like Tyler, Jimmy and Bam in the span of the last five years, like we've had bad breaks. Like you talk about the bubble year. If Drogick and Bam are healthy, I think we win that year, right? Which anyone, if you want to put an asterisk on it, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:33:36 But still a fucking championship. And then Jimmy was last year in the finals just completely depleted. And then this year we didn't even have Jimmy to start the playoff. So it's like, and then before that was Tyler Hero was her. So we haven't had the core together, it feels like, in the moments that we needed them. I always support the heat, obviously, South Florida team. Absolutely. Yeah, I figure you're a basketball guy.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Yeah. I'm Marlins guy too. Yeah. I like the Marlins. I like baseball. Yeah, it's a long. season and the marlins are a disaster yeah always yeah exactly hopefully one day we'll figure it out but all right guys well i appreciate you guys for jumping on and so one last time tell them about the
