What is good, everybody.
You're listening to another episode of the St.
Dr. Tranquilo podcast where we're going to help you stress a little bit less and enjoy a whole lot more.
I'm here again with the boy, J.C. Campo.
It's our second episode in about a year.
But before we get into it, I wanted to, I know this has been the first episode in a while in a few months.
As you can see, you know, we've attempted to kind of like upgrade the situation and use some better equipment and look a little bit more legit.
And, you know, with that.
And we're sponsored, Flanagan's, Johnny Cuba.
Yeah, of course, Johnny Cuba.
We got Never Give Up Foundation.
Flanagan's, like you said.
And we got the Boston Red Sox.
Go socks.
No, we're really for real, go more than so.
But, like, what I'm saying is that we want to do an episode once a week, you know,
where we provide content that, you know, just focuses on our message of a little bit more of a stress-free lifestyle,
a lifestyle where we can learn to kind of like overcome our obstacles in life,
overcome our problems.
And that's kind of like the Tuesday theme.
So everything that we come out with on Tuesday, that's the focus, that's the theme,
just providing value and everything that we do.
And then on Thursdays, not necessarily a podcast, but more of like a laid back kind of conversation
where it's like, yeah, it's Tranquilo Thursdays where it's like everyone can kick back,
relax, and kind of just enjoy, you know, their Thursday and get ready for the weekend and kind of
with like a more entertaining laid-back kind of conversation.
Thursday is a new Friday.
Thursday is the new Friday.
Wait, what's Tuesday?
Tuesdays.
So it's Tuesdays is talk it up Tuesdays.
So we want to like talk up on like relevant conversations, you know, relevant topics that
apply to like our message.
And then Thursdays is just more like the eat the shit with, you know, people, with the boys,
girls, just chilling.
It's like college nights.
Exactly.
Exactly.
So that's kind of the theme.
So that's something to look forward to.
So Tuesdays and Thursdays is our conversations.
and then obviously our other themes throughout the week.
So before we get started and I toss it over to JC,
obviously these are sensitive times
and we want to be, you know, aware and cognitive of what's going on.
You know, so I'm not going to get too deep into it.
It's not really my place.
But, you know, keep supporting whatever it is that you support.
Keep being a kind person to people around you.
Be kind to your neighbor.
Be kind to, you know, just everyone.
You know, obviously it's a sensitive time.
and you know African Americans right now are being treated poorly and obviously that's evident
but like I said I'm not going to get into it I you know we're here to help as much as we can
we're here to support as much as we can but at the end of the day let's continue to be kind
let's continue to spread positivity and this is you know continue to spread a positive message
and help however we can all right with that being said I'm tossing it over to JC
JC's got a wealth of information to share with the world today so I'm pumped to have them on
Like I said, it's our second episode, so obviously there's a reason why we're doing this again.
So thank you, man.
Thank you.
It's good to be with you both.
The podcast grew.
Like you said, I think the technology got a lot better.
Last time I brought my own laptop to do this.
I mean, the mics, there's three mics.
This is incredible, you know, and that's awesome.
And, you know, one of the things that you touched on was just be nice to everyone.
And I think that's a whole Tranquilo message, you know.
I used to see when you first started Tranquilo, and it was,
like, I don't know what day of the week it was, but it was like just do a random act of kindness.
Right.
And I remember your video that you walked into a hog and does, you bought ice cream and you gave
it, I think, to a homeless man or something.
So that's, you know, that's pretty awesome.
Like, you stick with your message and you actually live what you say.
So that's huge.
I appreciate that.
In terms of wealth of information, I mean, dude, I just, I don't know about that.
I don't know about that.
Don't plan me in Cyclepedia over here.
I don't know about that, man, but you know, definitely got some valuable things to say that's for the damn shit.
What have you been doing like during quarantine and stuff? How have you kept busy, you know, physically, mentally?
What are some things that, you know, you feel like you could share?
Yeah. And just to kind of like touch on Chris is because his mic is not being right as much.
We still have, you know, we're still kind of tweaking a couple things. So we haven't been able to get the audio on the third mic completely set up.
So if you hear, if you hear Chris and it doesn't sound so clearly, I could always relay.
that message so you guys can hear it better and he was asking what is you know what has jc
been doing to kind of like stay on top of you know of yourself and to stay busy during the whole
quarantine and obviously quarantine's kind of like been a little uplifted at this point but i guess
you know since we haven't done this in a while what what was it that you kind of like kept you busy
and entertained a lot of reading i'd say a lot of Netflix and everything but it's it's a lot of reading
um i read about a book a week um and it depends it goes from
leadership to like personal growth to now I'm reading one about you know how the the man
and the family is very very important and having that father figure and everything so yeah yeah obviously
like my mentor recommended it to me he's like look like you should read this you just got married
and you know read it you should read you know two or three times because now when you got married
the next is when you have your first kid and then your next kid whatever and right and it really
ties back to like being with family and that's that's huge for me you know so I spent a lot of time with
family actually I think I come to my parents house almost every single night for dinner.
That's awesome. That's awesome. So it's nice. We don't have to buy that many groceries in our
apartment, but actually since we last spoke, I got married in January. That's right. Congratulations.
Thank you. So that's been big. You know, I mean, a lot of people ask me like, oh, what's changed?
Nothing's changed, man. We've been together for seven years. Nothing's changed. And it's not like,
oh, it's just the next step. It's just, dude, that's my best friend. That's who I was going to marry.
and there was no, there's no, oh, we should do this because it's already been time.
Right.
You know, it's more of, no, I want to continue my life together.
Exactly.
And this is kind of like the next step we want to take together.
Exactly, exactly.
So, you know, we've been married for, I think, four months, five months now.
It's crazy.
It's been awesome.
We have a four-legged son.
He's very furry.
His name's Rafa, and, you know, we decided to start with a dog and then be like,
all right, now that's a true birth control almost.
Because you're like, I don't think I want to talk.
The dog is usually like the thing that it'll say like, hey, like,
can you handle it or can you not handle it?
This is a shit's on responsibility like by itself.
Are you sure you even want to think about doing it?
I remember like when I was like 14, 15 years old, I was like, yeah, I want three, four kids.
Like I want a house full of them.
And now I'm like, ah, bro.
Yeah.
Yeah, it makes you think twice.
No, but that's awesome, man.
I mean, it's, you know, it's definitely like a big step, obviously.
you know, like having that like long-term commitment.
But I think you nailed it.
It's like, it's like someone that you've, you've been with for such a long time.
It's your best friend.
Like, you're doing life with that person.
Like I love how people like always refer to relationships like that because it is, dude.
Like you're going through the good and the bad.
Oh, yeah.
With that person, you know.
And that's what builds that bond.
That's what builds that, like, true relationship.
Because, yeah, I mean, it's very easy to, like, get into relationship.
and it's all lovey-dovey and everything looks good,
but it's like life is still life at the end of the day.
You know, you still got to go to work.
You still got, you know, financial things to take care of us.
It's important.
You made a good point and let me know.
I mean, maybe you can just bring it to me.
It's a good point.
Like, you have to really develop yourself, you know,
yourself as in J.C. Campbell himself before you get into, you know,
there's such a long-term commitment like that.
And it's, you know, personal development as well.
It's not just, oh,
Let me just give my life to this person.
It's like I have to work on me and she's going to work on herself at the same time.
So it's very important.
Good point.
I mean, you can't.
Yeah, I mean, you can't give what you don't have.
Right.
Oh, we're getting.
There we go.
Hey.
You know, you can't give what you don't have in that sense.
Like, if you don't love yourself, you're not, how are you supposed to love someone else?
You know?
Yeah.
That's something huge.
And guys, we had a little minor technical difficulties.
Yeah, one of them, I'll keep talking.
No, keep going.
Keep going.
You're good.
But, you know, that's the.
biggest thing for me is is focusing on both of ourselves right we grew up with each other in a sense
where she i mean we're high school sweethearts if you really think about it not a thousand it was what
sophomore year of high school when you guys started senior senior oh senior yeah yeah last year so like
i called high school sweethearts it doesn't mean that we were together all four years no of course
we met senior year and we've been together pretty much ever since yeah so you know to me it's
we grew up together we went through certain stages of life together right we went through college we
long distance at one point. I didn't see her for three months. That's right. And we still
found a way to make it work. Because number one, we have faith and number two, like we just,
we genuinely love each other and I think that's my best friend. And I call her, like, we joke
around and we're like, oh, friend, friend, friend, like we just call each other a friend. And
people might look at us like, you guys are freaking crazy. But right, no, I mean, it's the truth.
She's my best friend before. She's my wife. Good. A thousand. You know, so that's something very big.
I mean, just doing life together.
A lot of people, you know, you ask, like, what are you doing in quarantine and all that?
And I spent time with her.
I mean, I'm fortunate enough to work from home and all that.
And she was working from home as well.
And a lot of people were like, oh, how can you be with your wife all the time, like 24-7?
I'm like, they don't get it.
Dude, I'm totally fine with it.
Yeah, they don't get it.
Yeah.
I'm totally good with it, you know?
So, I mean, other than reading and personal development, a lot of training, man.
I got into, I got into cycling again, like, earlier.
this year late last year and I really love endurance sports like I don't know I just I've always liked
running people always called me crazy yeah I wasn't super into the full marathons half marathons like
not that type of running but I was I would like to go out and go for a run or whatever and
It is therapeutic yeah it's super therapeutic it's therapeutic but I get how it's not therapeutic too
yeah but but you're doing it with like a team yeah once you get into that
that once you get into like that habit because I get it is hard you know like to
especially if you're not someone that's like not a runner you've never really been that
runner you know like to me running was always like something that was like a burden you know
because that's what it is it's like when you were in trouble in school go take a lap you got you got
you got you got stuff you you messed up in the sports or in your game like you know it was like
go do sprints yeah fuck you know so it's like so it's like that mentality of but there but there's
such a good component because like you hear that thing about like the runner's high
yeah and how like
your head clears and it's like when you get into that rhythm and you just get it's like a space that
you're outside you're away from everything the only thing you're focused on is like that you know
and and it's those things that they require so much attention that's why i love golf so much
yeah golf requires so much of your mind and so much of your focus that anything else that's
going on in your life right now is irrelevant because you're so focused on that and i think running has
like that same component and i and i think there's a lot of things that have that you know some people
have that itch with work some people have that
itch with you know just working out in general
just certain workouts exactly like and that's
why I think physical activity is so
important because that's the
only thing that's going on in that moment
so I definitely could see how like
being a runner like requires that
certain mindset and it hits a different way
yeah no it's
it's it's fun it's it clears your mind
you're there by yourself like
you know when I run
I run alone I'll cycle with a team
or I'll cycle with other people
sometimes I'll go out alone and sometimes when you got alone it's the best training day.
Exactly.
All you're doing is it's just you.
You against you.
It's not that you're being selfish.
It's that you're reflecting.
I pray when I'm writing.
I'll reflect.
I'll plan the day.
I'll do whatever.
But I'm not thinking about a bunch of other things.
Like I'm not thinking about work when I'm writing.
This is like my happy place.
Like do not.
You know, it's tough to remove me from my happy place and think about work and all that.
Yeah.
I've been doing a lot of that stuff, man.
I think that's super, super important because,
I've always liked working out
and I think that physically and mentally
it helps you a lot
and speaking of reading
I read a lot of David Gagins
I don't know if you guys are familiar with him
that guy is actually intense
he's insane
Is that the guy that lost a bunch of weight?
Yes he was a marine
Yeah he was a Navy SEAL
Navy SEAL
He did
He did buds
Three times
In one year
And so like
like educate people.
What exactly is,
is buds?
Not that I'm like the expert.
No,
I know,
but just to give like a little mini summary.
It's basically,
um,
basic underwater demolitions,
uh,
training,
which is for,
for Navy SEals,
like when they,
when they sign up to be a Navy SEAL,
like that's what they have to go for or go through in order to actually
get their tritons.
Um,
so if you don't go through that,
then,
you know,
if you fail,
like,
you fail,
you have to either redo it or whatever.
You did it three times.
And to me,
like the most amazing part is not that he failed.
It's that he failed.
each time like he got sick or something broke and he would still like go through it.
I mean, if you read his story and you listen to his podcast, he's a beast, man.
It's unreal.
He's a definition of having like, just like the incredibly strong mindset.
Yeah, exactly.
His whole thing is like when you say you're tired, you've only used 40% of your energy essentially.
Yeah.
And it's to me that was like once I really started listening to him, it changed my mindset in general because of the endurance sports.
And like, you got to be in a really dark.
dark place sometimes like you're like four hours in on a bike you're five hours in on a bike like
that's not who does that you know like that's not fun and it's not that i'm not saying i'm
professional i'm not saying i'm doing anything crazy but you know a lot of people
you're pushing your body to a limit that a lot of people are not able to do exactly like a lot of
people look at me and they're like dude you're insane i'm like you're insane for doing a cross
or working on lifting 300 pounds over your head you know like that's something i used to do
so i could say like i know what that feels like it's pain it's and it's not fun but this is like
my sort of fun.
I don't get it.
That's fine.
You don't get it.
Everyone's got their thing that gets them going and like that itch.
But yeah, I do think like going back to what you're saying about David Goggins, like, he has found a way to kind of like utilize his brain exactly how he wants to utilize his brain.
So when he's in like the worst of the worst conditions and he's pushing his body to a place that you would think is where as far as it can go.
But he finds a way to train his mind.
No, why?
Because he has that self-conversation with himself.
And that's kind of like where I want to pivot to is like the conversations that we have with
ourselves are the most important ones.
Are the most important conversations.
You know, there's a lot of outside noise, you know, like you could tell me something.
You could tell me something.
You know, my parents could tell me something.
Social media.
And that's why.
And we're consuming all this information and our brain's not able to filter it at all because
it's just so much at once.
So it's like what type of conversations are you having with yourself?
Are you having conversations with you?
Are you having conversations with social media?
Are you having conversations with your friends and filtering those experiences?
Because what David Goggins preaches is like everything else is irrelevant.
It's the fucking conversation that you have with yourself on the daily basis
and every moment when shits at an all-time low, when shit's on an all-time high.
How are you talking to yourself through those moments?
And I think he does an amazing job of interpreting that and preaching that
because you hear him and he's in the tense, dude.
Oh, yeah.
He's no BS.
He'll give it to you straight.
No BS.
And I actually listen to him.
There's a Spotify playlist of David Goggins,
and it's like bits and pieces of certain podcasts that he's been on or certain things,
and with like a little bit of music in the background,
but it's like a motivational type thing.
Yeah.
And the one thing that he said, which you touched on,
is the most important conversation you have is with yourself.
And everyone asks him like, oh, what are you training for?
What race are you training for?
He's like, I'm not training for anything.
I'm training for life.
I'm training so that when, and unfortunately, like, this is what he says.
It's like, oh, when my mom, when they call me out, my mom died, like, I don't freak out.
My mains are, my brain is already calloused in a sense.
Yeah, I'm like, damn, this guy's, this guy's nuts.
And we can call him nuts all we want, but he's not, like, sadistic or anything.
It's just like he's really pro, like you said, he's programmed a different way.
He wants you to suffer.
Like, when he was in, when he was in Bud's training, he said that, like, his goal was, was,
oh these guys are making us do this they're making us do that and his goal was to get in your mind
to get into the instructor's mind and he's like i want them that when they go home and they're like
they're sitting by the fireplace or whatever because over there it's cold as hell they're in
cold water and suffering all that they're like in the worst conditions i want them knowing
that i put them like i confuse this shit out of them you know like they're like what is this
guy doing like this guy's insane like we're putting him through suffering and he's totally
fine like screaming singing doing whatever it is and
It's because he's calicing.
He's prepping his mind.
Right.
And if you read his book, his childhood was not easy.
It's not that like he just boom, converted into this person.
No, he worked at it.
That's usually how it is.
Like those like really, really tough points that they go through is like what defines them in your life.
I mean, you hear multiple stories of a lot of athletes, a lot of successful business people that they came from crap.
You know, they didn't come from a good lifestyle.
they came from from adversity and because that's why you you see the other side and that's that
it's so uncomfortable that you're like I need to find the way out of this like what is that way
and and David Goggins is the epitome of that he's like he was overweight he was dealing with
hell essentially like his own personal and that's what shifted him you know that's what shifted
him to be the person that he is today he's like this intense dude because he went through intense
you know and and he says it he's like everything I did I didn't want to do he didn't want to
Navy SEAL he just did it because it's he knows that he can he can better his life and
like he just really wanted to just toughen up his mind he's like I don't like running
but I do it I'm like what the hell is wrong with this guy imagine if he did like it
yeah like what would have you really you know really be able yeah I'm like dude
his mind is so activated it's it's crazy but it's all the positive self-talk and you know
like pivoting from David Goggins that like I like him for endurance mindset and
training and whatever because he that's exactly
what he does so I can kind of follow it in a sense and I can listen to it when I'm training but
a book I read that's I think everyone should read it and it's super super important is what to say
when you talk to yourself by Dr. Shad Helmstetter that was probably one of the best books I've ever
read and he talks about how even babies are already starting their programming like before they're
born before they're born and and I heard him the other day like on um I was I was I was
privy to like a certain talk with him and um one of one of the people that was interviewing him
asked him like oh like when when when does our programming actually begin and he goes for this
sake let's talk about once you're born in the nursery like the second that they take you to
ICU do whatever like if you start saying like bad things to your baby like oh stop crying
you're just pain right yeah you know stuff like stuff like that you're already programming
you know and and then throughout our entire life you know sometimes your parents might say oh no
he's quiet like he he just doesn't talk much right that's BS like that's not that's not you
you know like that's not true they're putting it's just they're putting you they're putting so much
stuff in your head that your subconscious is realizing and it's like okay your subconscious doesn't know
what's truth or not and if you keep telling your subconscious like I'm this this this this
or I'm negative or I'm lazy or I can never do anything or I can never find the you know
right girl or right guy you know depending on what it is yep and your subconscious doesn't know
but then all of a sudden you start telling your subconscious,
I'm young, I'm wealthy, I'm free, every single day,
you're doing something about it, I'm lean, I'm a hard worker,
I'm doing all these things,
it's going to start being reprogramming.
And your brain can reprogram at no matter what stage in life,
which is huge, which is huge, which is amazing.
And to me that was the biggest thing is that a lot of us, you know,
we're like, oh, we're just not good at school.
Okay, don't talk to yourself like that,
but maybe you're better at life.
Right.
Maybe you're street smart, you know,
like everyone is street smart or both.
smart right but that doesn't mean that you're dumb like don't you know and don't talk to yourself
that way like to me the biggest thing is oh my god i'm such i'm like i'm such a bitch for not waking
up or i'm not such a bitch for doing no don't say that yeah be like i'm gonna wake up i'm gonna wake up
whatever and you actually do it you know and set goals because again your subconscious doesn't know
the difference yeah i think i think you know it goes back to what we're saying about like
you know the self conversations that we have because what happens is our body aligns
with the thoughts that we have.
So if we continue to tell yourself, I'm lazy,
you know, I'm not worthy of this or I'm not capable of this,
then your demeanor is going to carry the same exact way.
It'll find a way to do exactly what you're saying.
Exactly.
So if I'm lazy, I'm going to be lazy, you know?
You know, I thought something like just jumped in your pores.
Yeah, me too.
So, you know, I think it's like if we're continuously telling ourselves this narrative,
you know, like this story, whatever that story is, good or bad,
your actions are going to fall.
that if I tell myself I'm a lazy person that is not capable of owning a business or, you know, getting a good job or getting a good girlfriend, then that's what's going to happen because, you know, you go out into the world, you're going to have a conversation. You've already diminished yourself. So you go talk to a guy in an interview and you're like, I can't get this job. Yeah, you already carry me as that.
What's a point of even going to the interview at that point? Exactly. You set yourself up for failure. But yet, if I'm going into this interview and I'm like, I got this, I'm more than capable of getting this job. I'm more than qualified.
getting this job, I, you know, I probably can be even better at the position that I'm getting
hired for. And guess what? Whether you get hired or not, you just had that conversation with
yourself. So you went in there, you kicked ass in that interview for sure, right? And then if
they didn't see it, that's because of them. That's not because of you. Again, you cannot allow
the external to dictate how you talk to yourself. Because if I get denied by a girl, if I get
denied by a job if I get denied on an investment opportunity whatever it is I'm now allowing the results
to affect how I perceive myself and it's not that way it's not that way you're going to get shut down
yeah everybody does you know it's also about being open minded too to new opportunities yep whether you
get shut down or not there's so many different avenues that that you can do something successful
and people don't realize that they're like oh I'm just programmed to uh to be an accountant or I'm just
program to be an engineer.
But there's so many different avenues that you can take.
That's a thing.
There's just so plenty of avenues.
Yeah.
You hit it right on the head.
There's so much to life.
So yeah, I think you nailed it.
It's like don't shrink the level of opportunity that you could present yourself.
Everything and anything is possible.
Yep.
Like everything in anything, you know?
It's just what are you willing to do and how are you willing to do it?
You know, it's like you have to put in the effort.
You have to put in the time.
You have to put in the, you know,
know, the sweat and tears that David Goggins preaches about, you know, that the unwanted stuff.
But it's like, it's unwanted right now because you know what you're chasing after.
You know what you're going after.
You know, like me sitting out here and doing nothing all day, yeah, you know, it has a component
where I'm relaxed and stuff like that.
But if I want to go do something, if I want to get something done, it requires a certain
amount of effort out of me, you know?
And people have the misconception that like, you know, your words are one thing, but you're
actions are another. No, they're all freaking interconnected. Oh yeah. They're all interconnected. That's
why the story you tell yourself, your actions have to align because I could say, yo, I'm going to be a
millionaire in 10 years, but I'm not doing anybody to do something on it. You got to do something about it. You need to change
whatever you're saying into action. Continue saying it. That's awesome. You have to have a conversation
and you have dreams. And another thing that a lot of people knock down is, is dreaming. And I'm talking about,
like you said, oh, I want to be a millionaire. Or I want to, I want to own a house and
Cocoa Plum, I want to own a 150 foot yacht, whatever it is.
If that's material, fine.
Or, you know, I want to be the leader of a thousand people.
If you worked your ass off to get it, because there's an, there's the wrong connotation
out there that a material world is a bad world.
Yeah.
It's not.
It's not.
I understand materialism is not everything.
And I am definitely the first one to say that because I've seen both sides of the
equation and I know it's not everything.
Yeah.
But there's a certain, you know, level of, of.
of a life when you have nice things and you worked for it, you know, rewarding yourself for it.
Don't be fake about it.
You know, be real about it.
You know, live within your means.
But if you can afford it, who the hell is supposed to tell you that you can't do that?
If you want to have a nice house and you want to have a boat and you want to have, you know, extravagant things, do it.
Yeah.
You know, do it.
But, you know, at the same time, use your money to do good.
You know, use your money to help other people that are in the same.
that are in the same position that you were once.
You know, it's like, that's why I love, like,
the concept is like, dream, look to the future,
look towards what you want because you can work towards something.
You have a, I don't want to call it a destination because.
No, there's goals.
There's no destination.
It gives you a purpose to look forward.
Exactly, there's a purpose.
Wake up in the morning, you know, like, oh, I want to achieve this really badly.
Exactly.
Exactly.
But then there's also, like, remembering where you came from when you get to that place
that you've always dreamt of because you're like,
I remember the struggle, you know, it keeps you humble.
It keeps you in check with, you know, the people that are in the same shoes trying to learn from you, you know?
So it's like, remember where you came from, but also continue to dream and continue to go after.
Because you're going to get to a point where it's like, okay, I'm technically here where I want it to be.
You're going to want more.
You're always going to want more.
You're always going to want more.
But you're going to want it in a different way, you know?
Like, I mean, there's so many, like, wealthy, influential people.
And, you know, we're looking from the outside in.
but there is a lot of wealthy influential people
and a lot of them always remember
that they came from a place where they didn't have life
given to them where they didn't have life
handed on a plate or they didn't
you know they had to work for it you know it wasn't easy
they came from a place where shit was tough
and then now it's like you know what I'm here
now I want to give back and I think that's I think that's huge
it's like getting to that point
and working your freaking ass off to get there
and having and building that mentality
because think about the person that
you know came from a tough house or you know abusive household or whatever it is and and life was
tough for them growing up right and then all of a sudden they get to this point where everything is good
everything is nice then they're going to be like okay i saw both sides of the equation and i remember
how tough that was that built so much freaking character dude yep character like it's insane like i and
i like a lebron james and i know he's a very controversial name but he's the epitome of coming from the
and look at it, bro. Let that man live the life that he wants to live.
Yeah. To me the biggest thing is, like, why would I take advice from someone I wouldn't?
I mean, why would I take someone's opinion who I wouldn't take advice from?
And there's plenty of people doing different things.
Like, I'm sure that you've experienced ridiculous amounts of criticism of all that Tranquitos never going to take off.
That's quite worth anything.
Tranquitos, I'm going to do anything.
And it's like, okay, you do you.
But don't start hopping on the bandwagon when all of a sound successful.
I know who's the real ones.
and I know who's not.
Yeah.
And that's why.
And they only see the success.
Exactly.
They don't see the in between.
They don't see what you first started with in podcasting.
They don't see like your first few videos.
They don't see your first logo.
Exactly.
Like you got,
you have,
you've evolved throughout.
But that's what it is.
How long is it?
It's been like two and a half years.
It seems like longer.
But either way,
like you've evolved,
you know,
and that's something huge.
Like a lot of people will only see success.
They'll all of a sudden they'll see like a big house,
nice cars,
whatever.
And they're like,
huh,
where did this come from?
Yeah.
Dude, I was putting in the work 10 years ago.
Like, do you not see it?
Now it's coming true.
Now it's coming into fruition, but a lot of people don't realize that.
They just see the little tip of the iceberg.
Yeah.
I like that meme where it's like success and it's like the tip of the iceberg and all of a sudden,
I love that.
Okay, everything below it.
Because the iceberg doesn't just float on the water, guys.
There's a lot below.
There's a structure that was built to get to that place where you're building the foundation
for the empire that you want to build.
You know, it's like, same thing with building a house.
You know, like you've got to lay the foundation before you start building.
And it's ugly as hell.
It's ugly as hell.
It's hideous when it's getting built.
And then all of a sudden you get a house, you're like, no, this is what it turned into.
Yeah.
Like when my parents were building this house, we would come here and I was like, I couldn't even envision it.
You know, I was like, how do you?
I don't see it.
I don't see it.
I don't see it.
When we come back, like, I don't know, a few months later, all of a sudden I see it's
like painted, it's getting nice, whatever.
I walk inside.
I'm like, wow, this is nice.
But when it first started, it was just flatland.
And then all of a sudden, rebar and come up.
concrete and I was like, what the hell is this?
You can get hurt in here, you know what I mean?
I'm like, where's my room?
I don't even know where my room is, but no one realizes what you go through, like whether
it's stay tranquil or, you know, real estate or your own business or whatever it is.
Like, people don't realize it until all of a sudden you make it big and they're like,
oh, wow, he made it big like from one to the next.
No, dude, it's been 10 years in the making.
You know, I've been growing myself.
I've been, you have to grow yourself in order, you have to grow yourself every single day.
One of the biggest things that I live by is like you knew me yesterday, but you don't know me today.
Why? Because I read, I listen. I reach out to other people.
Like I, you know, that to me is the biggest thing.
What you do today affects how you live tomorrow.
So, you know, if I continue to educate myself and I continue to, you know, take care of my body and I continue to just fill my mind with positivity, you know, day after day I'm going to look every day with a little bit more positivity.
But it's the reverse.
If I stop the reading and, you know, I see.
stop working out and I stop taking care of myself.
Tomorrow I'm going to probably feel like crap and the next day I'm going to feel even
worse and the next day I'm going to feel worse because it's the spiral effect of what you
do today affects tomorrow and that's why like it's like take every day you know and make
that day the best that you can't you know.
Then tomorrow comes you worry about tomorrow but don't be worrying about tomorrow
before today's even over you know or don't be worrying about yesterday and how shitty
yesterday was living the present you can't do anything about yesterday today today's a new day.
Today's a new day.
The present is called the president.
for a reason.
Exactly.
And, I mean, we can get into a whole thing because I love the concept of the present moment because it really, it shifts a perspective.
Can you actually film this?
Yeah, I got it.
Because I do, I do want to touch on this.
Because when you really think about, like, the present moment and what it necessarily entails, it's like, it's an aspect of time, right?
So when you look at time as, like, by the hour, by the day, by the month and shit like that, it, you know,
you're taking yourself away from now, right?
Right now we're having this podcast.
We're sitting outside.
It's a beautiful day.
And here's where my energy is, right?
I know I have a crazy day at work today, right?
Yep.
And I know I have this, that, and those things are things that I have to put my attention towards.
But right now, my attention is not there because I want to be here right now.
I don't want to be there worrying about that or what I'm going to be eating for dinner tonight because that's not where my
I don't even know what I'm having for lunch.
Exactly.
I haven't even had breakfast yet.
But, you know, I think it's like when we learn to just appreciate what is right now, the good and the bad, you know, it's like I'm here right now and, you know,
me and my girlfriend just got in a fight or me and my boss, you know, just rubbed heads or we had just had like this great conversation.
Whatever it is, right?
You have to look at right now and say, what is this moment offering for me?
right now. It's like, what can I gather
from this moment so that when I
come across this moment again, or if I come
across something like this similar again, how can I
handle it? You know, it's like, and that's why I think
experience is the best teacher.
Oh, yeah. No person, no
book is going to teach you
what life teaches you. You need to do it. Because your story
is going to be different than my story. Oh, yeah.
And what you go through is going to be different than what he goes
to and what I go through and what our parents went through,
you know? So when we're so
fad and like, oh, but my parents, you know, they went
through this and this is their,
story yeah bro write your own freaking narrative you know you're writing your own book every
every single day that's from david gathers you know and and one thing that you touched on that was
huge was fine like the good and the bad like this whole pandemic has yeah it's super negative
you can't go out everything's close social distancing whatever i've never seen so many people
walking outside working out outside
with their families.
Taking advantage of the now.
I'm with my family more than ever.
I don't know why.
It feels like we're just going to die tomorrow or something.
I am literally at my parents' house every single day almost.
And when I'm out on a bike, like, it's dangerous to go out on a bike in the afternoon and keep you skiing.
I'm not going to lie to you.
There's so many people out there that I'm like, where did you guys come from?
Where have you guys been?
Where have you guys been?
Did they close a park or something that I didn't know about any wise or all that?
Yeah, exactly.
And I'm like, and we talked about this right before.
the podcast like even you go on certain websites and you notice like running shoes are a big thing now
or like roller blades like you were saying Chris and that's bikes are being sold galore yeah like
the owner of of elite which is you know one of our sponsors for the team is is he bro he's just selling bikes
he's just busy all the time which is awesome there was a point in time where they did a write-up on him
and it was like it was negative like he had to close a store or whatever because of this pandemic
and nothing nothing was able to open and then all of a sudden people start
of wanting to buy bikes.
So you started doing like online and getting stuff, you know, curbside pickup and all that.
And people want to buy bikes.
People want to be out.
And they found the good in the pandemic.
The good is now you're with your family.
People were focusing on like you said the future.
Oh, you're on Sunday and I'm thinking about my Monday morning emails that I need to answer.
Or I'm already answering them on Sunday.
I'm thinking about work.
No.
Sunday has become Monday because you decided to put your energy into Monday's situation.
And with technology, like I think it's.
it's a good thing that we have technology and it's also a bad but it's also like the the people
that work from home now I have so many of my colleagues that literally they just roll from roll out
of bed and they start checking email and there's no time barrier that they have there they just warps
into just one massive thing and then all of a sudden they haven't had lunch and it's three o'clock
in the afternoon I'm like what do you guys do go outside go for a walk your own personal
yeah it's a great time for you exactly and that to me is the biggest thing like
You need to go do your own thing.
And a lot of these corporate companies are saying, like, promoting, like, health because, and I think we have, like, even just health things every single day of the week or whatever that you can be a part of and all that.
Like an online yoga.
Yeah, because it's like, they're starting to understand the importance of it.
And, you know, at the end of the day, we're machines, you know, and you have to take care of us.
You have to treat us right.
You have to feed us.
You know, like, you know, we have to be able to take care of ourselves before we even think about providing anything to,
company anything to a person you know like take care of you and I know that's like the the the selfish
you know people think it's selfish to take care of themselves but it's not if you can't take
of yourself what are the world things that you can take care of somebody else exactly it's not
and this is not to get religious or anything but in the book I'm reading um it's called point man
it's a really really good book um and he says that in the bible it says you know you should work out
you need to train endurance.
Like, endurance is the biggest thing.
And I like endurance sports because, like, I can always do it.
Maybe I can't always lift weights like in CrossFit or whatever,
but I can always run.
I can always ride a bike.
And I can always swim.
And you need to focus on your endurance, like your mental endurance and all that stuff,
but then also, like, your spiritual endurance.
Whatever it is that you believe in, it doesn't matter.
Like, if you think that you're the best thing that walks the earth,
don't talk to me because we're just not going to agree.
Yeah, we're just like, first of all, we're not going to connect.
down, I'm like, I'll be scared of you if you think that, you know?
There has to be some higher, I don't care if you think this cup of water from Flanagan's
is better than you, you know?
Like, it doesn't matter what it is.
You need to believe in some higher power.
To me, it's God.
I'm Catholic.
I'll say it.
I don't care.
And to me, that's the biggest thing is, you know, both mental and physical endurance, but also
spiritual endurance.
And there's a lot of people during this pandemic that have taken the negative side of it.
And they don't see the positive.
They focus on the negative.
Oh, what was me?
I lost my job, whatever.
I get it.
People lose their job.
and I'm so sorry for all you guys, but pray.
How would you define spiritual and endurance?
Like what's your like interpretation of what?
Pray pray.
Give, give you give 30 minutes of your day to go in on a run.
Give 30 minutes of your day to talking to God.
Whatever it is.
I don't care if it's in the shower.
If you're talking on the bike, like I pray while I'm on the bike.
Conversation, you know.
It just gives you that sense of hope.
It gives you that sense of peace that, you know,
something is better than what's happening right now.
Exactly.
or it can be better, you know, it gives you that sense of like, okay, I'm having this conversation.
I don't know who the hell I'm talking to.
But it just gives you that piece.
Like, you know, like your body is a very good indicator of relaying a message to you.
So if you're feeling like aggravated, if you're feeling like pissed, if you're feeling, you know, frustrated, sad, whatever it is, just like write some shit down or just have like a self-conversation.
I don't care.
Anything.
Just figure out something like what makes you feel good.
Yeah.
No, and that's something huge, and it's something that I always grew up with that,
especially coming from a Catholic family and going to Catholic school all of our lives,
going to Columbus, doing retreats, doing whatever it was.
And, I mean, I think that relationship with God is huge.
And from my own personal experience, like, when I first went into college,
I didn't have my mom and my dad saying, oh, we're going to go to Mass on Sunday.
And I would not be forced to go, but it's like, you know, you got to go.
It's your duty.
At the end of the day, our parents,
Our parents are trying to kind of like, not mold us, but shift us and what they think is best for us.
Yeah.
You know, so I am 100% okay with my parents raising me as cap.
Do I believe everything that I was taught?
Exactly.
No, but you have the right to, you know, to create your own life and learn and question.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Questioning is like one of the most powerful things because when you start to question, that's when you start to learn.
That's when you start to expand outside of what you've known your whole life.
You know, because they're supposed to teach us.
You know, they're supposed to guide us because we're clueless.
We're not able to defend ourselves.
We're not able to learn because we haven't gotten into that point.
The older we get, that's why we're allowed to shift and go into different directions and create our own life.
Because our parents, the perfect example is the bird doesn't leave the nest until the mom teaches it how to fly.
Exactly.
And sometimes it's pushed out.
And exactly.
And it's not teaching.
It's just, okay, bye.
You know how to fly.
You're good to go.
You've done yourself.
Now you've got to defend yourself.
I can't do that anymore.
It's the same thing with us, you know.
Obviously, some parents are a little bit different with how it is.
But the nature of us being taught to fly and live our own life,
and once we're capable of doing that, it's yours now, bro.
Go figure it out, you know.
And we're all, you know, we all have a different kind of like perspective of like what our parents taught us,
you know, what school taught us, what our environment has taught us in our situation.
But at the end of the day, we're 100% responsible.
for how our life is at this point.
And I agree, like, question it, and I did that.
I questioned it, like, going back to my first year of college,
I questioned it, whatever.
It's something natural.
And then all of a sudden I noticed.
That's what builds, like, even stronger relation,
because now it's more personal to you.
Yeah.
But I noticed, like, I wasn't going to mass.
I wasn't really close to God.
And I was, like, I was depressed as hell.
Like, I came home that December and I was depressed.
And I'm not going to focus everything and say it was all on God.
There was a lot of factors have to do with it.
But I bet you.
to do something that God would have helped me through it
if I would have actually gone.
And funny enough, all of a sudden in January
when I go back for second semester,
and I already knew I was coming back to Miami,
but I started having a relationship with God again.
I would go to Mass on Sundays.
I'd go to Mass on Saturday, whatever it was.
And I was praying to him every single day.
And I've continued to do that.
And not only for myself,
but I've also done that with Lizzie.
And I think that's super important
when you guys are both in the same realm
and like thinking the same way
and being, you know, same religious values
and whatever.
Like,
just overall values in general.
Like having the same values
because I was talking to my uncle
yesterday.
And,
and what do you call it?
He was,
you know,
we were talking about like
one of the things
like going into a commitment.
You know,
it doesn't have to be a physical
person relationship,
you know,
something with your job,
you know,
just anything that's like a long-term commitment.
You have to understand
and have that conversation
and say,
are our values
and our goals lined up
Yep.
Because if not, if you want to go left and he wants to go right or he or she wants to go right,
then it's like, you're gone.
You guys are going in two different directions because this person wants this and one person
and you're not obligated to, you know, there's a finding a certain of a middle ground at points.
But if you want this and she wants that or he wants that, then it's like, okay, we're not seeing eye to eye.
Why are we doing this?
You know, you're trying to put a square in a circle, basically.
And that's impossible.
And it's impossible.
Yeah.
So I think it's like just understanding and communicating and just figuring out what you want.
Communicating is the biggest one because if you don't communicate, all of a sudden.
How is anyone going to know what the house?
Lizzie and I did a retreat before you just have to.
If you're going to get married by the Catholic Church, you do like a retreat with a bunch of young couples that are getting married or couples getting married in general.
And they started asking us questions or like, you know, who's going to do this, who's going to do that, certain things.
So that we started thinking about it.
And there was people that had zero idea
with the other person wanted.
And we were like,
and you guys are going to get married in three months?
I'm like, wow, that's, you know, good luck to you guys.
I'll pray for you guys, absolutely.
But, you know, I think communication is the biggest thing
because a lot of people focus on their jobs
or themselves too much.
They'll focus on their training or whatever too much
and all of a sudden.
They forget what's at home.
They only think of what's at home as like,
oh, it's just like a friend I just talk to.
Like, we just text.
But like, there's way more than that.
a lot more. There's a lot more into it than that. So, yeah, I mean, I think everything is just
important. Mindset, you know, spirituality, religion, whatever it is that you believe in and,
and making sure that you actually, like, act on it. There has to be action. You can't just keep telling
yourself. I can tell myself I'm going to wake up at 5 o'clock in the morning, but if I don't
actually get up, I didn't do it. Did I did? Did I do it? Yeah, exactly. And action creates reaction.
Exactly. So it's the center of motion. All right, guys. Well, that was a freaking hell of
episode. That's for damn sure. And I appreciate you for coming on and having us. I do think it was
an awesome episode. And like I said, this is going to be something that, you know, we're going to
be releasing every Tuesday. So today's Tuesday. So that means we're doing it today. So we're
online. We're on a good pace. So week one, we're doing it right. All right. So next week,
you know, expect another one of these. And I mean, you got anything that you want to leave before,
before we kind of like tune off?
No, I just want to give a few shoutouts.
Obviously, my wife, you know, she's a huge,
a huge person in my life, my family.
And then also people, like, if you saw, like,
I was, you know, sponsoring, never give up and all that.
That's a big foundation that not only has to do with kids
and feeding children and all that.
It's my buddy's foundation, but I also use it as like, you know,
don't give up.
Like, there's people in this world that they don't have that mental capacity or
whatever, and they just don't want to.
work at it but don't give up like go the extra mile do something else you know keep going um and and
just just keep doing keep doing you and actually act on it guys i think that's the biggest biggest thing is
i can say yeah and you know continue continue to like we said in the beginning continue to be
kind to others continue to spread positivity continue to you know affect whoever you can affect in a
positive way you know starting with your family starting with yourself starting with your friends you
know it starts with our own little circle you know we don't have to take care of the
world's problems all at once.
It's just like, how can we take care of ourselves?
How can we take care of the people around us?
And, you know, let that kind of like trickle effect.
You know, the little, when the water drops and the ripple effect, it's the same thing.
What I do to you, I hope it ripples into another person.
You know, you affect one person.
That one person affects two.
That person affects five, you know.
And that, it just continues to spread.
So I think, you know, just let's continue to focus on taking care of ourselves and
taking care of the people around us, all right?
Thanks so much, bro.
I appreciate it.
Thanks, brother.
Stay tranquilly.
Oh, no.
