Starting point is 00:00:00 What is going on, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of the Stay Tranquilo podcast. We're here with Todd Fleming. We're here on Whole 17. We are here with Kevin O'Brien at the Columbus Basketball Court. Yes, sir. You guys are going to love this app that they're developing here. That's what I'm like, I'm kidding old.
Starting point is 00:00:17 If it doesn't have the three in front of your life. You guys just talking about college, you go to college and they look so young now. Wait to me to me the 29-year-old and she looks young. That's when you're like, ah, I am I'm getting old. I'm age now almost heading into my 40s. I didn't realize this. I wish I knew this in my 20s, gratitude. You know, even the bad things that happened.
Starting point is 00:00:41 You know, now I look back at my life, even the good, the bad. Like, I'm just grateful for it all because it made me who I am today. And I'm learning to just serve others now. I like, I find pleasure in serving others and putting others before me. I think that's the ticket. You know what I mean? Or maybe that's just me reading the Bible too much. But it's making me more grounded in that realm.
Starting point is 00:01:04 And I think just life is better that way. you left your, you know, full-time job to be able to do Salt EGolpher full-time. Can you tell me a little bit about, you know, how you were able to get to that point, right? And what that decision process was like for you? Do you want to be 75 years old laying in this bed, looking up at the ceiling and wondering what is? And when she said that, I was like, all right, we're doing it. We're doing it. You know, because I don't want to wonder what if.
Starting point is 00:01:34 if you're going to take this leap, make sure everybody and your family is on board. It has to consume you. You have to want to do it. It's the last thing you think about when you go to sleep, and it's the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning. If it doesn't consume you, you won't do it. You won't put in the work. You won't put it in the work.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Who made the first Kahachina? I know the guys behind Kahachina. Yeah? The actual bar. Yeah, the actual Kahachina. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And I mean, we could probably ask them. I bet you guys start that shit.
Starting point is 00:02:07 It's got to be an interesting story. It's got to be somewhere in Cuba. They didn't have a way to cook it probably and they made a box out of wood. I bet you're some shit. Some shit like that. It definitely was like that. They were like, we have this pig. Are we gonna cook this shit?
Starting point is 00:02:17 We're gonna cook at Moazzo. I think about it, there's probably no grill that was big enough to put a pig on it. So maybe they used to cut it up and cook it. But we don't, like, we use like bags of charcoal and shit like that. I wonder what they were using to like ignite that shit. Why is it China? Kaja china is so true. That's a good question. Why is it Kahajina?
Starting point is 00:02:34 You're right. Like it's a Cuban- Why is it a Chinese box? Why is it a Chinese box? Why the Chinese gotta make everything? No, did they make it? It's like there's a stigma around wine, right? Like it's like very, it's for the wealthy
Starting point is 00:02:46 or it's like it's very like sophisticated, you know, like only certain people can drink wine. But reality is, I think we all kind of enjoy wine and kind of the type of drinking that comes with it, right? The intimidation factor of like people who maybe haven't wine tasted before is very similar to people who haven't golf. before. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Where it's kind of that stigma of like, it's the upper class. It's not very welcome. That's a great point. You don't even know your stuff. And it's like, that's ridiculous. Everywhere I go now,
Starting point is 00:03:13 I'm bringing my golf clubs. Oh yeah. It's not even a question. You know, like my girlfriend always makes fun of me. Really, you're going to bring your clubs? And I'm like, fuck yeah,
Starting point is 00:03:20 I'm going to bring my clubs. Like, what do you mean? Who knows if I'll ever be in that place ever again? Yeah, exactly. It's, it's one and the same at that point. Yeah. So I've really learned to appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:03:30 And it's just, it's cool, you know, You live at home and you play the same courses every so often, but you go to those places and you're like, I got to go and you don't even know if there's even an iconic course. It could be in the middle of nowhere, but I'm like, I'm going to go play golf there just because it's going to provide a completely different experience. And I think that to me is like the huge selling point around it. So the thing that Tripcaddy brings to that golf travel experience is we're the experts, right?
Starting point is 00:03:55 We've been to that resort. We know the director of golf. We have a podcast called the Golf Trip Authority where we interview the GMs, the directors will go off at all these resorts, so Pinehurst and Pebble Beach and Whitson Straits and Stream Song Resort down in Florida. Stream Song's on the bucket list is here for sure. All the big ones that you can name, we have a relationship with. And so when we book one of our ready-made trips, they cater to us, treat us like VIPs.
Starting point is 00:04:20 We get the best tea times. We get the special treatment or whatever. Oh, yeah. And so you know if you're going on one of our ready-made trips, that is the best trip you can go on to that resort. I remember being in high school and yeah, I had dreams to play baseball and all these things. But I mean, in the back of my head, I'm like, you know what? Like if it doesn't work out, it's okay.
Starting point is 00:04:40 But what is the next step of my life, right? And there's such a level of confusion because you devote so much time and energy into it. And I think it's a common theme with athletes. My entire life, I've classified myself and the people around me have classified me as a basketball player. And you live in that, which is not the right way to be. I wish I knew some of the lessons then that I know now. But I aligned myself with that. I was like, this is who I am.
Starting point is 00:05:08 This is, but this is really just what I do currently. Athletes across the board, there needs to be more of a conversation about you are more than just what you do on the floor on the field. You bring so much more value to humanity, to your community, to everything, aside from your performance. There needs to be guys that have been in the position and have turned the page, whether it's as an athlete or someone like Inki who had a terrible injury and terrible thing happened to them, but be able to put things in perspective because when he speaks in those classrooms full of an entire team, all those guys that are there are healthy, they're in line, you know, and you don't know their story by looking at their face. But everybody has a story. All of our kids that come here are from different. walks of life, you know, all of them have a story. All the kids outside this gym that play in other parts of Miami. Everyone has a different walk of life. Everyone has a different home life.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Everyone has different goals, different adversities that they've been through. And when you can help make a kid feel like he's heard, cared about, that there are people that are willing to help him achieve his goal, I can't even put in words what that would have meant for me as a player.
