Stone clearing with Richard Herring
I think you can learn.
You'll be in the kitchen, I like you.
Where's your thing?
There we go, we're all right.
You okay?
But I'm not the door first, Wolfie.
So you can go check out of it.
Don't you even know that yet?
I do.
All right, come on, girl.
Who's a good girl?
You are.
Don't shake your head.
You're the best.
Oh, my stars.
Well, hello, my finest friends.
Flag-hag.
Welcome to chapter one, one-four
of Photone Clearing with Richard Herring.
If this is your first chapter,
please go back to the beginning and start again.
Um...
Good girl, here we go.
It's the 13th of February.
It's 11.56.
I just want to check my recording is still going
because my watch is no.
No, it's fine.
And, uh...
Yeah, it's been a little while again,
not quite a month, a couple of weeks.
Uh...
There's been COVID in the house.
The dog's been looked after, I swear.
It's been difficult to get out.
A few stone clearing.
Obviously.
That's not as much as I'd like.
And, uh, no chapters for you, my fine friends,
but we're making up for that now.
We have chapter one, one-four,
114 chapters, plus a Fomertime Special.
A few, uh...
Go back and listen to them again.
A few have listened to them once.
A few lost stone clears.
A few live stone clears.
Quite a few of those, actually.
It's been quite the adventure.
And, uh...
Although it may be nearing its end,
I've nearly cleared all the stones, I would say.
Um...
There's still a little way to go
before I've built a wall
visible from space around this
25 hectare field.
I think it is.
Anyway, we're up. We're coming up to the
station to go captain
in case there's any photography
waiting on the top here.
Drilled by now.
We just have to be careful.
It's a big pink bucket.
Where did that appear from?
I don't know.
A couple of photons
picked up already on the path,
and that's not 100% legal,
but there are no rules to stone clearing.
That's the first rule.
The second rule is you cannot bring
the stones onto the fields
from elsewhere,
which I suppose is the way I've just done.
I'm going to move the risker off the lead.
Ah, there's some leaves here.
I thought there were some big stones,
but there's more leaves.
Brown leaves, brown as the stones,
as we head into spring.
And the crop, whatever it is,
just it looks like grass at the moment.
There might just be some grass.
About the level of a
slightly poorly manicured lawn.
This is just going to be a quick
clear today.
It's like a birthday weekend
for my human daughter.
And we're going to have family lunch.
Wolfie's dying this stone.
I picked up a caramel stone
roughly the shape of a Y
with the top bit filled in.
And Y is a good question.
Why are we doing this, Wolfie?
Because it's there.
And we want it over there.
That's why we're doing it.
It's quite good, isn't it?
That's quite good.
I've actually been there
improvising all week long.
It's been out in Wales.
There's some stones in that.
To that country, I can tell you,
if you want to find some stones,
go to Wales.
It's where they got a stone hen from.
Apparently, they cleared those stones.
Right through it to Wiltshire.
So I've been talking away
19 to the dozen down the pub
with his mates.
So I've just been listening to
decomposing composers by Monty Python.
Sadly, they haven't had
that song for
maybe 30 years.
All the words and some of the dates
of the composer.
Oh, I just threw a nice bit of flint there
that broke apart on hitting
the pile of stones.
Always satisfying when that happens.
Split into sibling stones.
Hopefully the wind is not
affecting your enjoyment too much.
Blowing in my ears a little bit
and we're just popping out here
just a mini Hasselhoff, not on the crops
in any serious way.
And actually a couple of big stones there
placed against the fence.
One of my stones
that I've thrown has landed.
Stuck onto that pile.
It's a supernatural way.
That can happen.
Stones can be magnetic.
So yeah, we're still
on the intermediate level obviously.
I would like to defer the
part in the
years we've been doing this.
Some of you are slow to pick up.
They admittedly quite complicated
the basics of stone clearance.
It's taken a lot of you longer than
I'd suspected to understand what's going on.
Quite a lot of jeffax
from this course.
I'm looking out.
The
the station is full of stones.
I'm still very much working around the edge.
There's a bit of brick there.
It's off.
Oh, there's a stone.
See, it was very interesting in the stones.
That was going into the brambles
where many stones are formed before.
Still the remnants
of burnt gateposts
from that time we had a fire.
I spent some instance at it.
You wouldn't expect this much to happen.
It's been packed with incident.
I've got a little section of five stones
all in a little clump.
I'm going to keep them together.
They're roughly together.
They're off the field now.
It's five.
Together.
Probably made a small medium.
Maybe a small large.
Maybe a medium small.
Maybe we should go back to
describing the size of stones
based on things you know what they are.
That seems to become the accepted method.
Small mediums have gone off.
Caramel.
Caramel colours.
I'm not talking about the stones enough.
That's a lot of emails I've had through.
Email from
Chimney Pot
Shed.
That might be a business.
Shed that makes Chimney Pot.
It might be a person.
It's up into Middleton to a friend of mine
the other day.
That's a person.
You might think some of these names are unusual
but it's you who needs to get with the times.
You might be looking for somewhere to poo now
if you're interested in that aspect.
It's in the bushes.
It suits me very fine.
You can do that one.
Nature takes its course there.
Just check out
the lie of the land.
Right in the middle of a plant.
I'll put a couple of stones on top of it.
That can be the start of a can.
Only you and I will know what lies beneath
until the archaeologists come to uncover the secret
of the grandmaster.
It's like an orange and black stone.
Looks like it's been burned by the naked hands.
Which plant was it?
Right in the middle of a plant.
Now that plant is covered in stones.
Everything's looking good.
Trouser's slowly falling down.
The belt I've got on today.
It's from a different time when I was a
chunkier monkey.
I've got a little bit more chunky
than I was back in the autumn.
Halfway back to where I was really.
So I'm hoping I've been for a run today.
Hoping I can
ward off.
Getting too fat for my suits.
But at the moment I'm too thin for this belt.
So that's something.
I'm going to sign this belt with it.
It's a couple of stones that have gone through the fence
into a garden. Which is never what you want to.
Coming up to the can in the corner of the field.
Wolfie's trying to foul me.
I've got a stone for the can in the corner of the field.
It's not quite in the corner of the field as you'll know
if you're raving with it.
Might get Wolfs back on me.
Lead now. She's pooped.
Good poop, Wolfs.
It's buried.
It was out of the way anyway.
Well done to you. That's the perfect oar.
It's a good choice of getting her on the lead
because a couple of stones are daisy.
I've tricked them. They're going in the wrong direction.
Let's say they're very much on the
ocean.
Do have to watch out. Oh, and a nice little back
hill there.
I've got another stone off the field.
I'm trying to kick it. The kick isn't quite working.
I don't know if there's footballing time for that.
It wasn't really quite a back hill.
It was a side hill from behind.
And then just keeps another one
off in a more traditional manner.
We're not going up past the
singing ringing tree today.
Sorry about that.
Increasingly getting quite lazy
of these walks.
But time
is pressing.
Time's clock is pressing against us.
Got a nice
chunky
only slight. It's like an egg
shape with a bit of
bottom of egg in it. It would be a dinosaur egg
if it was an egg. It might be a dinosaur egg.
A little dinosaur inside it.
That's going down into the base
of a tree.
Still haven't managed to knock any of these trees
down. That's more like whatever.
There's quite a lot in that tree.
I'll put some more in that one.
And actually those stone stars
turned around are looking directly at me.
This could be it.
Now if you discover this
recording, please send it to
Orange Mark for uploading.
I managed to kick the mother stone off there.
I've got a baby. It's horrible to see
a child being
indoctrinated.
It is even a real baby.
It could just be trying to make me think
they've got a baby. It's not facing
into the front.
Come here.
Gave me a weird
look.
And even it doesn't
look like a real
baby.
I don't know what's going on there.
Come on darling.
Good girl.
Found a nice
bit of pink
stone there.
Let's go down the can opposite the main can.
Along with another bright cluster.
We're heading on. That was very
mysterious. Pink baby.
Pink bucket. Pink stone.
That's what the universe is throwing
at me today. If it was a baby.
If it was alive.
Could have been some kind of
supernatural creature of course.
The stone stars are well known
for employing moorlocks.
Babies on horses.
And they might just have some kind of goblin there
that they're trying to hide from sight.
It was still. Now usually
if you've got a baby in a
papuch thing. It faces out but doesn't
see what's going on. That one was facing
the father
or the man.
Might not have been around a blood relative.
Especially if it's a goblin.
And I've got just an opportunity to chuck
a few stones
from, you know, five meters
in. And they're all gone.
Oh, whoops. He jumped on my face.
Excited. Are you excited darling? You're a good girl.
What's up? You trying to tell me something girl?
Oh, is it because your legs caught up here?
You alright?
You want to play with the stones, don't you?
I've got your back on the lead.
It's a good job I did because that goblin baby
could have got
a crow sitting amongst the grass.
I think it's a crow.
Bit too far from the edge now but I'm going to try
and get this one closer. Let's see what Wolfie does.
She's going to run for it but she's going to
come up against the forces
of a
dog. And she hasn't jerked my out of it.
I was ready for it.
Windy.
It's blustery today. It's grey.
A little cold.
Not totally inclement. No rain.
And the ground firm.
I'm picking up shingles from the top. There's a dog poo there.
There's...
That's not a place to leave a dog poo. There's a pink.
Looks like a frisbee sort of thing there.
A lot of pink things.
Out today. I don't know what it means. Pink.
Maybe...
I don't know. But I did see an email from
the popstar pink in my folder. I haven't opened it yet.
So maybe...
Maybe that's what it's leading to.
It's not a colour you usually see out here.
Green. Brown.
Caramel.
It's a dark grey.
It's a drab world.
But from the crops.
And just from crossing.
Taking in... Now this is an important part.
So I'm going to go in the middle.
The vista.
Of the stones that you are going to get later.
To remember where they are.
Become friendly with them. Know them by name.
An appearance.
You don't necessarily want to start clearing these stones right away.
Unless you see a real juicy one.
There's one talking to me.
Yeah. What do you want? You want to come off the field, do you?
Okay.
I'm taking this one. It's quite a long way from home.
I miss...
It's a weird thing to choose.
That one amongst all the many that are there.
I think you heard from the thought I spoke to me there.
How insistent it was.
How I needed to get it off.
There's a few here in the path I think I'll take.
Because the path just suddenly gets a little...
damp here.
A few nice stones coming up.
I've got four.
Ideally, I want to come across from here with at least six.
They're not huge.
But neither are they small.
They're somewhere in the middle.
We'll see if we can get a huge one.
But it's their size as always.
Not...
a determining factor.
I don't think we're going to go and do a stone pole today.
Even that's how I...
after my abyss wall zero out of six last time.
And that's a nice chunky medium.
That's a medium small.
That's the biggest of the lot for today's six.
It's half a dozen.
Will they go on the main can?
Will they go up and form part of the wall?
I can't tell you yet.
They will tell me where to put them.
And when you're a master stone clearer,
you might be saying,
Rich, the stone's not talking to me at all.
My poor lamb.
It'll come.
It will come if you stone clear enough.
The stones will talk to you.
The animals will talk to you.
The other people won't talk to you.
It'll happen with those two.
I'm just going to kick this one.
There's a little one here I can kick.
And that's gone bump to right onto the wall.
Actually going a little around the corner from the main can,
which is developing into quite a
a size
around here, but not.
They're all gone.
Wolfie trying to help,
but her dog paws
proving adequate
six nice
stones off the field.
There's another one to add to that,
and seven actually included one I kicked
onto the wall.
If anyone's in space at the moment,
Tim Peake is up in space and is listening.
Drop me an email
if you spot the wall.
It's just there in Hertfordshire.
Should be obvious.
Biggest wall in Hertfordshire.
The only one visible from space.
Probably only that little bit of it at the moment
to be fair, or maybe the bit of it.
So we're heading down the hill.
Been
just a little dipping our toe back into
the fetted sea.
It is the Stocean.
It's a sea of regrets.
It's a sea
of cruel mistresses to see.
It's a sea of
stones.
Wolfie playing defence.
I'm never quite sure if she's in there
on my side or on the stars' side.
That's why I like her though.
Amber here, she makes an interesting character for the Maptiff.
Will she be carrying on once I'm gone?
Or will I be carrying on once she's gone?
Nobody knows yet.
No one can see the future.
Apart from Sybil,
her companion.
I've got a twitcher phone, which is amazing.
Audio, or video.
Wherever you get your audio or videos, or YouTube for the video.
Or Twitch.
Watch it live on Twitch.
You can see all the bits.
So we cut out
of the broadcast.
The terrestrial broadcast.
It's too hot to handle.
I've got four little stones here, like tiny.
One of them is big as the other three.
That's how small they are.
And they're going to go in the ditch that's stopped Brexit.
The ditch that sent Boris Johnson.
The ditch you've got Dominic Cummings.
Where they get Boris Johnson.
I'm not so sure about that.
It goes one, two, three.
A sarcastic amount of stones today.
Maybe too many.
And there's a nice one for the alphanolgacan.
And a nice little one.
Again, a nice little one with a little hue of pink.
It's weird the way
these little
associations
that come up.
Trying to tell the world
it's trying to tell us something.
This
this pink motif.
Could it be that I'm gay?
Is that what the world is trying to tell me?
I mean, I don't mind. I'm gay for stones.
If that's possible.
If the stones want to form themselves into
a rudimentary
vaginal asshole.
I'll have that up to your mouth.
I will willingly. I'm a willing participant.
If you're listening to things.
But you have to form yourself into that.
I'm not going to start. I'm not
reached the point where we're going to start doing that.
Let's get out of my phone
because I want to take a picture of the pink bucket.
But also we'll see what emails have come in
and see if there's any
famous pop stars have been in touch.
It does happen sometimes.
It all seems to have recorded okay.
Let's see. Hopefully.
Hopefully it's come true because I'd hate to think this had been lost.
Just check my emails now
and take a picture of the pink bucket.
That will be there.
The motif, I guess, if you wanted this.
You'll have seen it already.
There's a pink bucket on the picture.
It's quite useful for stone fairing.
Actually, there's pink buckets.
Let's have a look through the emails.
There is an email from
from Pink.
Hi, it's me Pink
with an exclamation mark.
The pop star from America.
Let's get the party started.
I'm joking.
That's just one of my songs, I think.
I think that's one of my songs.
And other of my songs,
there isn't time to mention them now.
You probably know what they are anyway.
Do you want to try and guess one?
No, I don't want to do pink.
I do know them all, obviously.
I don't want to say them.
Anyway, why is the
landscape that you place stones in
so devoid of pink?
Have you thought about getting some more pink stuff
in the podcast? Because I love pink.
And that would attract
people who like pink. Not necessarily girls,
but often a lot of
five or six-year-old girls like that.
If you want to open up that demographic,
which is something I think was interested in,
I don't really want to
get five or six-year-old girls listening to me.
I don't mind if they do, but I'm not actively seeking it out.
As you know, there are no rules to stone fairing.
Rule one, rule two,
you have to be
over 18 to click stone.
You can listen to this podcast
if you're five or six, but
I just worry you.
I worry I'm dragging the wrong audience.
Anyway, it's me, Pink, and I've put
some pink things in the field
to try and help you.
I know where you are because I'm an international
pop star and I'm able to
use the private detectives
to try and get any information I want.
I know where you live and I could have you killed
if you don't put more pink things
in your podcast.
That turned a bit nasty there
at the end from Pink.
I'm glad you found the podcast,
but I will not count
how the beautiful thing about stone clearing
is there's no sponsors.
Try to get them, but no one will sponsor it.
Occasionally they have.
I'm in control
and
you should know I'm prepared
to die
in the service
of stone clearing.
So your threats do not scare me,
Pink, Pink Harris
and
maybe you should have a look
at yourself.
Anyway, that's it for today. We're back home.
We're going to go out for a little
family party.
I wish I could be out there clearing stones
rather than communing with humans
and eating their human food, but
the cover must be maintained.
Thanks for listening. We'll be back hopefully
with
more stone clearing, longer stone clearing.
Take care of yourself and each other
and your stones. Keep clearing stones.
Good.
Stone clearing with rich herring
started me with rich herring
and wolf with a dog.
Plus that
dog.
So I'm going to go out for a little bit
and I'm going to go out for a little bit
and I'm going to go out for a little bit
and I'm going to go out for a little bit
and I'm going to go out for a little bit
and I'm going to go out for a little bit
and I'm going to go out for a little bit
and I'm going to go out for a little bit
and I'm going to go out for a little bit
and thanks to my rich herring and wolf with a dog.
Plus that cover with the possible goblin
trial. The music is by Mike Coffray
the voice of the Photonist is Michael Beheen.
Listen to the birth
and truth
Don't listen
to your underhand
Listen
to the
stone
Listen
to the stone
and they
in turn
will live
to you
my friend
my fine friend
