Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi listeners. We had a special episode queued up for today, but in light of what is going on in the country, we decided to hold off on releasing it. The episode we had was a more lighthearted culture segment, and while sometimes we need distractions in our lives, we do not want to distract from or minimize the protests happening around the country, as police vehicles mow into crowds and police tear gas and mace individuals who are insisting that we address racism, racial violence, and the murders of Black men and women. As Justice Sotomayor wrote in her dissent in Utah v. Strieff, We must not pretend that the countless people who are routinely targeted by the police are isolated. They are the canaries in the coal mine whose deaths, civil and literal, warn us that no one can breathe in this atmosphere. They are the ones who recognize that unlawful police stops corrode all our civil liberties and threaten all our lives.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Until their voices matter too, our justice system will continue to be anything but. We'll release what was our planned episode for today a bit later, and we may have some short episodes later this week that quickly analyze some opinions, depending on what the court releases this week. But for now, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay committed to making this country a better place. And thanks, as always, for listening.
