Now, today I have on a super interesting guest named Mars, M-A-R-Z. She is, Mars is a woman who's very open, very open sexually. She currently runs a play party, a very exclusive, high-end play party called Top Floor with her partner, Alon. I'm going to be talking to the both of them. I'm not sure who.
Starting point is 00:03:43 I'm Aaron first, okay? I've talked to both of them. Today you're going to hear from Mars. And the reason why I'm talking to them separately is because they both have super interesting backstories. And then they both wind up running this party. Alon started it. She came on later when it reopened after COVID. And that's what we talk about.
Starting point is 00:04:02 We talk about her whole past history, how she was always very open sexually, like her relationship that she had, the way she likes to play, the kinks that she's into, as well as how she got involved in Burning Man more toward like as far as like really joining that community and helping. with it and then eventually she went from like working in corporate to leaving her job and working at top floor and that's what she does now we talk a lot about that party and what goes down and how it's run and how you're vetted and how you get in because it's like a super high end uh cool party to go to but it's not like not inclusive like you got to hear her explain the whole party it's not like something where nobody like only a certain kind of person is allowed they really are looking for diversity they or they're open to it. It's a cool party. You're going to love her story. You're going to probably want to go to top floor. So I'll put the link to their play party in the description. But I'm
Starting point is 00:04:59 going to get right to it and be right back on with Mars. Hi, Mars with a Z. Welcome to the strictly anonymous podcast. How are you today? I'm great. Thanks for having me. No, thanks for having you. I mean, we are going to get to the point of where you're at now. I don't know. Are you single or married, by the way, I am divorced, which is interesting state of being because that still just makes me single, but somehow I have to recognize my past when I fill out forms. Really? What do you mean? You have to be like single, but like I used to be married kind of thing? Like what's the difference? Well, no, when you go to like the doctor's office or a lot of government forms, they're like, are you single, married or divorced? Yeah. Oh, you're right. You're right.
Starting point is 00:05:42 So you have to put divorce. Well, that's okay. At least you know you tried it, been there done that. Okay, but really also what you currently do is you run a very like high end kind of on the DL hot New York City Swinger party. Is it a is it a Swinger club or a Swinger event that you guys host? You and your partner who's going to be on the show too. So it's actually neither. I am going to take this opportunity to perhaps. Educate me. Yeah, I love it.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Define the difference between Swinger. parties and swinger scene or how they would say like lifestyle to the play party scene where we don't really use the word lifestyle oh okay I love it what do you use play yes so and a very top line definition as approved by Chad GPT I'm not going to do a verbatim though okay the big differences are that in Swinger culture, it's very couples focused. And a lot of times, let's say, single men are persona non grata in these scenes. That is not to say that couples are not staying together at a play party. You can navigate together or individually, but typically at a Swinger party, you're really just staying together.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Additionally, most lifestyle events are just the parties, rather than with a goal of building an intentional community. It's really, we came, we did our thing, it was hot, and we're out of here. Right. Versus at play events, you really are encouraged to explore all aspects of sexuality, including BDS, which is not part of swinger culture. And you're not pressured to have sex or the traditional definition of penetrative sex. You're there to play, to really just explore. you know, choose your own adventure for the night. And here, a lot of play parties, and very specifically ours, Top Floor, we are community driven. It is beyond that one event
Starting point is 00:07:53 that you shared a hot experience with someone. We're really building connections between people that go beyond that. I love it. And we're going to get to the point in your life where you start this. It's called Top Floor. Top Floor. It's in New York City. And like when we get to that time, we'll go like deep into what goes down and all that good stuff but let's go back like when do i know you said you're married and divorced like did you start playing with your husband i'm going to go quite further back in my timeline to give the marriage more context they yeah perfect so interestingly enough i'm i'm an immigrant i come from the soviet or you know now ukraine but back then there really was no
Starting point is 00:08:39 nationalism, so I identify as Soviet. And it is a very conservative culture of sex is not something that is discussed. I often meet peers who would have immigrated around the same time, and they had very different upbringings from the opportunities that I had, which I do not know how I got this lucky. I have very supportive understanding parents. Oh, wow. You are lucky. I never felt judged. All topics were welcomed. So, I felt more comfortable with approaching certain situations and dynamics in general. Around junior high school, I realized I'm also interested in women. That's when you start getting your first waves of crushes.
Starting point is 00:09:22 That was something to recognize. And then I was, again, just, I'm going to say lucky, but like I worked my ass off for this. I went to Stuyvesant, which is a specialized high school in New York. You have to test into it. So it kind of is self-selecting for a certain crowd. of kids who are very forward thinking. And because the teachers who go to teach there are, even though it's a public school, are very hand-selected.
Starting point is 00:09:48 I don't know how that works. And they're all looking forward to teaching in a prestigious high school with all these smart kids. It was ridiculously liberal. So I went to high school in 2000, and we had gay day. This was before Pride was a thing, really. And we'd have like kissing booths.
Starting point is 00:10:07 And we had all sorts of, what now would be, you know, fluidity in gender identity, but like nobody had the vocabulary for this. And so my high school actually, the kids who were the year before me, but we used to all hang out, was featured on the cover of New York Magazine as the Cuddle Puddle High School. So, yeah, and then I went to college in New York. I went to a city college. I started going out on my own and exploring alternative nightlife of all sorts and getting to meet all sorts of interesting people, ending up in alternative environments,
Starting point is 00:10:47 like club kids kind of scenes and underground, like drag scenes or fetish foot parties, and I'm just like going everywhere pretty much on my own. And what happened then, that was very significant kind of simultaneously, all my nighttime adventures led me to discover, the Burning Man scene. Oh yeah,
Starting point is 00:11:08 that's so up your alley, right? That is so neat. Yeah. I costume. Now I'm very, I'm going to pat myself on the back, kind of high up in my game. I make programmer little light up costumes and all sorts of stuff. It's great.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Yeah. But back then, I wasn't, like, it took time to get there. But I think maybe thanks to my, like, Soviet upbringing, I'm such a doer and always looking to create and just bring more. into whatever initiative I'm even enjoying. Like, I feel like just always giving back to whatever I'm part of. So I got involved in Burning Man scene. And I've brought, like, giant camp of 200 people out to the desert.
Starting point is 00:11:52 I still run my group for the mermaid parade every year, even though I stepped away from a lot of it. But, yeah, so I'm just, like, busy with that. But then simultaneously, I find myself in what turned out to be, from the get-go and emotion. but then ultimately a physically abusive relationship. And I was in that for like three years. However, and this took me therapy to deal with,
Starting point is 00:12:17 the sexual dynamic of that relationship and how we were doing Polly very actively, or at least a monogamish kind of structure, and the way sexuality was embraced openly without manipulation, as interesting as it was, that everything else was manipulative, was very, was, was a very strong influence.

Starting point is 00:13:40 And I thank Bluetooth for sponsoring this podcast. That's bluechew.com or just go to the description and click on the link. Or at least a monogamish kind of structure. And the way sexuality was embraced openly without manipulation, as interesting as it was, that everything else was manipulative, was a very strong influence. And now before that relationship, were you, always open and non-monogamous or did you always consider yourself Polly? And was that even a word back then? I considered myself not that word, but let's say like in college, I, I was actively in an
Starting point is 00:14:19 open relationship. That's what the words we would have used. Yeah. With my college boyfriend. And he was at the time starting to very lightly explore bisexuality. And it was like a very new anxiety written thing for him. And I was very supportive. We had some shared experience. We had some shared experiences some just his own experiences that I would just love to hear about later. And I've learned just how, again, I didn't have the word for it back then, but just how much I embrace compersion. Oh, interesting. Okay. Truly feeling the joy of the other person having joy without holding back of, but why wasn't I part of that? But you knew that you had that thing in you. You were interesting.
Starting point is 00:15:06 seeing your partner or hearing about it or all of the above? All of it. Mm-hmm. All of it. And I love to hear the stories afterwards, not even necessarily in a, oh, I'm so turned on by this sexy story kind of way, although, yes, at times. But more like, that's the same way how, like, if you went to an amazing concert, you know, and I want to hear about it, you had a great time.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Yeah, yeah, that's interesting. Now, you did touch upon, and I'll get back to this place in the story, but you did touch upon, like, after you got out of high school, you sort of went on your own and you went to different alternative places. Like were you going to like swinger parties and or clubs in the city at that time when you say you were going on these alternative places? Is that what it was? No.
Starting point is 00:15:48 I always found those very seedy, honestly. And scary with the kind of stories you'd hear. I found myself in more of the queer scene. Okay. Cool. And what was going on in that scene? Like what was it, was it parties that were being hosted and stuff like that? It's not open sex, but it's no real photography, maybe third base kind of stuff in the corner.
Starting point is 00:16:13 And I love exhibitionism. You end up like blowing someone in a corner of a dance floor, but it's like super fine. And then or I'd go to foot fetish parties because I do love my feet touch. And guys would just like love on your feet and buy you drinks. And you know, I'm 20. Like I got in. That's great. Buying me drinks.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Yeah, why not? Oh, my God. And you enjoyed it. It wasn't like even just for the cashment. You liked for your feet to be massaged. Oh my God. My feet, every lover finds this really quickly because I like, they need to know this, are a legit erogenous zone.
Starting point is 00:16:49 And it's not that mental thing where, ooh, lick my toes because it's a power play. Yeah. No. It is literally like, like directly connected to my clit somehow. I don't know. I like walking on concrete. It's just. amazing. I don't think it's the same for everyone, honestly. It's like Pavlovian. I get excited
Starting point is 00:17:09 before I'm even there. It's, you know, we all, we all got a thing. Yeah, I love it. Okay, so go on. So you, so you had that abusive relationship, but something you took out of it is that because you guys did, were very open and you weren't just open sexually. You were open, like in a poly way in that you guys could go form other relationships with people. Is that when you realized because you were poly with him? The way we structured it is we had more like other sexual partners, not romantic entanglements. Right. And then for the last several months of it, kind of towards the end, we had like a shared
Starting point is 00:17:42 girlfriend. Like she lived with us. It was an interesting experience. But that's actually right around when I noticed how unkind in all sorts of ways. He was being to her and I started being protective. Uh-huh. Where it finally hit me of like, wait, I'm not in a good situation here. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:58 He's probably been doing that to you the whole time, but you need to see him do it to someone else. It took power to leave. I was there much longer than is ever appropriate. And then that is pretty much like right straight then is when I met my soon husband. Oh, okay. So right. And now, did you go into that being up front about who you were and what you were into? And like, did you meet him like in your circle of friend so he was like down as well? I don't know. So he actually, just moved to New York recently, but was looking for this more of a burner scene rather than a play scene, but they just end up with so much crossover and like a lot of times like an entryway. I was very upfront with my situation, but at the time I didn't feel like I had the need to be
Starting point is 00:18:52 Polly, but I would want an open relationship where other sexual experiences, whether shared or individual and that was to be negotiated, were on the table. So we started off like that. We explored some play parties, including Top Floor at the time. Top Floor's been around for a while. Oh, before you became a part of it. Yeah. So yeah, so we went to Top Floor. We went to some other ones. All the play parties are of very different flavors. But those, we've shared some experiences with women who were friends. We were seeing a woman together for several months. But slowly but surely, as we neared towards engagement, a lot of this started going away. And kind of like, I guess the best analogy, like a frog in boiling water, you just kind of don't notice. What started going away,
Starting point is 00:19:49 the events and the parties? Yeah. And all sorts of openness. And ultimately, a lot of my bright light was getting like dimmer and dimmer because I'm outside of being sexually open. I'm also just a socially open person. I form a lot of connections. Peopleing is my favorite pastime. Peopleing, I like that. Surrounded by people. I constantly have art projects, big initiatives, volunteer things.
Starting point is 00:20:21 And he, it felt like he was begrudging me a lot of that. I mean, there were other things wrong. And things started just. getting closed off in so many dimensions. And only later did I really reflect on how there was that lack of compersion. It'd be like, oh, you went to brunch without me. I'm like, okay, I had a good, like, or we'd go to Burning Man together and I'd like go have a random adventure and like, oh, well, it just, it wasn't that.
Starting point is 00:20:49 And then for the last year, our sex life suffered tremendously. I have a strong sex drive. If he was no longer interested, whether it was me or just in general, I don't know. But that was just devastating on me. Yeah, I can imagine. But let me ask you a quick question. This guy, like, going in, was he as open as you were? Or do you think, like, maybe this whole kind of lifestyle, just, you know, in general
Starting point is 00:21:17 lifestyle, not the lifestyle, like, maybe wasn't for him and he was looking for something more vanilla? I don't know. Well, according to my therapist, you are correct. Oh. Like that took some time. Yeah. No, but she saw me through like this whole, the whole course of that relationship.
Starting point is 00:21:34 She was like, yes, I was kind of like kind of trying to lead you towards that. Of course. He came from a very traditional background, a smaller, like a small town. And it's very exciting to get caught up in all of this. But then ultimately was the let's move to the burbs and let's just do all the family dinner things. and I that's not that's not my trajectory and I tried to do the traditional thing. And I was also I think this might be context for later as we do talk about my transition and career. I was always very corporate. Like I have an MBA. I worked for 12 years in first cable
Starting point is 00:22:16 and then streaming, launching networks and doing all sorts of stuff wearing a suit. And, you know, ex-husband was on a similar track. And as my story continues, that is no longer my path. Yeah, that sounds a little bit odd for you, considering that girl that was in Stuytown. You know what I mean? You sound very arty, like you were more artistic and creative, you know? Thank God I didn't need to be a doctor or a lawyer, but I at least needed to, like, guarantee a 401k and go get an advanced degree. I got it.
Starting point is 00:22:51 That was required. For your parents. Yeah, it was not, it was softly stated. And I never pursued art as a profession because even in high school, I was very aware of how I don't want my passion to become my rent. Right. But don't you feel like eventually you wind up as somebody that is kind of maybe doing what you love for your job, right? Like, because now is top floor what you do? Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:19 Right. And I did luck out with this. But previously, similar to a lot of people who are in Burning Man culture, you work your corporate job, you make the money, and then you spend so much of your money on just giving back to communities, spending on costumes, festivals, art projects, and you just kind of like split your life. And a lot of people do that. And that was kind of the path I was on.
Starting point is 00:23:45 Yeah, I'm going to get regular people that are listening to this, the skinny on Burning Man, because I was a regular person dating a guy. boyfriend. He was like, you know, EDM, like, I don't know, let's go to fucking Burning Man, you know, drive across country together, a long hair, DJ guy, right? And I had no clue what Burning Man was. I was like the regular person that just saw it from the outside. I was like, oh, a bunch of fucking stone people smoking weed, whatever. And like, when we got to Burning Man, I flew home in Vegas and he went and I didn't go with him. But when he came back, okay, and showed me all the paraphernalia that comes out of there and all the stuff that's set up and all these beautiful structures and the art
Starting point is 00:24:26 and the shit that goes down. My mind was blown. I was like, you know, a lot of people don't really get what Burning Man is. And, you know, and I was one of them. I just thought it was like this dumb thing where people go to do drugs, you know, but it's so much more than that. And people put so much money into those sculptures that they build and the brilliant genius shit that people do there and come up with. I was like blown away. And I just think a lot of people don't understand that if you've never been. Thank you so much for speaking so beautifully about something that I, is such a big part of my life.
Starting point is 00:25:01 I'm also just going to add like additional color to how much of it is the culture. Yeah. And how interestingly enough and unlike anywhere else in the world, even unlike California and Burning Man's on the West Coast, New York has a thriving burner community. where within a room of 800 people, you will be one degree separated from someone. Where if you need somebody to help you with anything, somebody's going to come through. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:34 And so many creative souls and just supportive, loving people. Of course, you have your bad seeds. But honestly, it's not the majority. Exactly. And those people eventually, they are seen for what they are and they disappear. Yeah. Yeah, and there's, I mean, like I said, I think it's like brilliant genius people are heading that shit up. I mean, like it's really, like I said, the opposite of what I thought it was once I really looked into it.
Starting point is 00:26:01 But anyway, so you're, so you divorce your guy. You come to the conclusion he's not down with what you're down for. You're still an open person. It's not like, I mean, you try to do things like sort of traditional, but you knew that didn't work for you. You went back. Like when you divorced him, what happened after that? Did you go back to having open relationships with other people? I mean, it's not like you're afraid to go to these places and do these things alone.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Entirely. So my singleness was on, like on speed because I, like I said about this whole light dimming situation. I gained like 20 pounds by the end of my marriage. I lost a bunch of connections, a bunch of people. I lost a lot of confidence in all sorts of areas of my life. And then I was like, you know what? I know how to be honest with myself. My sexuality drives so much of my identity, and I need to get back in touch with that.
Starting point is 00:27:00 When I met my husband, not like I'm not aware how that works. So I was like, this is what we're going to do. We're just going to get on the apps. And I post this like monogamous thing I got into just because it had to be, I just I just want nuts with that. This like monogamous thing I got into just because it had to be, I just, I just want nuts with that. I did Tinder Bumble. I tried to okay Cupid. That didn't really work for me. Yeah, that was another one. Yeah. No hits. And I did field. I wasn't on the SDC or anything like that. Just healed the way they, and they did a good job, the way they positioned themselves is for kind of like alternative relationships, not necessarily just like kink or hookup culture.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Yep. So and I wasn't just like, it wasn't necessarily just like, oh, I'm going to get late every night, although it was that. But also like, I'm building connections. And I have over time through apps, even if it's not a hookup at all, or sometimes, yes, a hookup, I've made so many friends, so many valuable connections, so many amazing people. But I go through so many. It's a power of numbers, just like to filter through all that and stuff.
Starting point is 00:29:15 start a conversation, but then you just, I at least, like, I really look out and I have wild adventures and nights and days and then just walk out with amazing friends later. It's been incredible. I know they get a bad rap and everybody has a different experience. Well, listen, you said that peopling was your thing, you know, and so obviously dating then would be fun for you because you enjoy going out with strangers, I'm sure. I think the reason why a lot of people hate them is because they're opposite you. I mean, I would rather kill myself than be, I have to spend like two hours with a stranger in a restaurant talking to them.
Starting point is 00:29:54 But some people love that because they're super social. Like you said that that's what you did. So that's perfect for you. And to be honest, I think of all the many, many, many dates I've had off the apps. Yeah. I think I only went to a restaurant once. Oh. It was, and especially during COVID times, because we're still like COVID, even though it's not a lot.
Starting point is 00:30:12 You're right. It's come to my house. Yeah. Like, I will make waffles at 3 a.m. Just show up. It would be great. Yeah. And it is great.
Starting point is 00:30:20 And I did like a template of a date on a loop of like, come over, board game, Doctor Who episode. Oh my God, I love it. Mac and cheese in the middle of the night. What board game? And then a nice breakfast. What board game? Because I like board games.
Starting point is 00:30:33 What board game was it? It was either risk or beehive. Right. Oh my God. That's hilarious. And was it men and women? Like, would you date either? I love sexual energy with women and intimate experiences, and friendships with women,
Starting point is 00:30:49 but I haven't found myself, like, romantically drawn. Right. I've explored it more in, like, a little bit post-college. But that's not been a thing. It's more of like a really hot night, you know, maybe a couple of hot weeks, but then there's just no longevity there for me. Yeah. But with those guys that you were bringing home, are you like the type that could just be
Starting point is 00:31:11 immediately attracted someone and you're like banging them that night and you're just like highly sexual you know highly sexual or have a high sex drive where you could get down like that is that what was going down with all those dates during COVID at your house yes I am very much like but nothing promised their house in the night where they come over and then I'm like well this isn't going to work yeah also I don't know lucky never had a bad experience asking a guy to leave telling them. Our clothes are already off and I'm just going to be like, okay, you know, I'm not feeling this anymore. Yeah. And what kind of kink things are you into besides your feet? I am actually for my world, super vanilla. I'm not into pain. I'm not into like leather or like a lot of things. I like group play.
Starting point is 00:32:01 I like very intimate sex. I like very aggressive sex. I like men. I like women. And I just like, I like having just like and then I am like I don't know like a like a like a like a like a bisexual like try anything sexual like try everything like I'm oh really I I am an opportunist yeah so you're down like in the heat of passion or just your own curious yeah yeah like weird weird stuff happens sometimes yeah I got it you just got to go with it I mean so I was talking to a woman who does you know porn for women she created a porn site and after glow and she was talking about how like, you know, a lot of people don't realize this, but like the number one downloaded porn for women happens to be gang bang porn. And I'm like, oh, so my favorite
Starting point is 00:32:46 question is to ask like women, you know, that are like doing crazy things. Like, have you ever done a gang bang? Is that something that you're into or ever tried, considering you're open and curious? I have never set up a gang bang officially as a gang bang. I think the most men without women present I've ever been with at the same time is four. Yeah, that could be a gang bang. But it's like, yeah, I guess. They're not lined up. They were just like, you know, it was just like interaction and then things just flowed.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Yeah, I guess. But when I think of gangbang, I literally think like it was like planned that way. Like this is we're here for. Yeah, kind of. Yeah. I guess maybe like that. But I've been in really large like mixed gender settings. where there's a whole like an orgy maybe you want to call it.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Yeah, like at that point you're orging it up inside of the party. Right. Okay, let's get to top floor. So how do you wind up back there? So I've been, I went back to the play scene. I had a partner at the time who was living in the, another sex positive community. They have a house, Siena. And I became very close with that crew.
Starting point is 00:34:01 and just got deeper into that whole world of organized events that way. And at the time, Alon, in his own life, we didn't really know each other at all. I just knew he existed. Yeah. He was like chewing over the idea of bringing back top floor. Oh, because it was gone by that. I didn't know that. Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:25 Okay. So it went to 2016. And then he went to do just other professional stuff. and he actually handed the format over to this other party with blessing. And it just so happened and that party was retiring. They were doing things differently than what top floor was. I think they were only doing it like a couple of times a year than like an active community. But it was like just like this party they were doing.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Yeah. But like they were out of the game. And Alon was burnt out with the kind of work he was doing outside of top floor. And then he started just reaching out to people from what I understand. like people who were involved or people who were just guests and being like, how do you feel about bringing this back? He messaged me on Facebook and we really quickly bonded over our use of commas. We love writing together.
Starting point is 00:35:13 It's a lot of fun. Okay. And I like I previously alluded, I'm just such a, I want to get in on it. Yeah. That very naturally just from party one, I was part of the team. like production decisions and marketing and all of that, those things. And at the time, I was about to wrap up my most recent contract with, like, HBO Discovery. And that was ending.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Top Floor started taking off. And it was a big gamble because at the end of the day, I've just been doing corporate forever. And this is at its heart startup. And I saw this opportunity to entirely turn my life around with this as the anchor of it. Yeah. And so you guys both decided to open it together again? He was going to do it with or without me, but we're stronger as a team, I believe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I mean, you were there from the beginning of the new opening is what I'm saying, right? Yeah. And a lot of big decisions, the party, and especially as it became a community, evolved so much.
Starting point is 00:36:20 just the decision alone to go when it first started back then and even for the first year and a half that we came back, it was an entirely secret party. Like, people didn't know the name of it. You shouldn't have even said the name unless you were like super ready to know this person was about to be invited. Wow. And how would people know it was like a telephone and game of telephone that like you had to tell somebody and be in the know?
Starting point is 00:36:44 Interesting. No website. Like there's no digital presence. very on the down low, very selective, and just friends of friends. Was it in the same space at that time? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:58 They were happy to have us back. Left a good impression. And it's like a penthouse, right? Some place in New York City? That's where it's held. It's a gorgeous space with beautiful views. And the parties are very large. It's like a 200-person party.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Yeah, amazing. So got to fit all that. Let's go through all the stats and deeds about it in case people want to sign up. You know, how do you vet people? It's not like anyone who just walk in at the doors on like the movie theater, right? Like what's the process? And then tell me what goes down when you get that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:34 So all of this became necessary once we decided to open up. Yeah. Because and even then already, friends of friends is not the standard we're going for. So where we're at, the process for becoming a member of the community is to submit an application. It's on our website. I'm sure, I don't know, you can put it in the notes. Yeah, I'll put it in the notes. What is the website?
Starting point is 00:38:03 Topfloor.com? Topfloor club.com. So there's an application and you would provide your basic info. We ask for why basically you're applying, what brings you to us, what previous similar experiences you've had if there's somebody already who's part of the community who would be recommending you. And we ask for a social media handle just to like match up like this is a real human really. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:29 And the majority still come from recommendations. Okay. We do really rely on like the grassroots of it. But we are actively looking very intentionally looking to expand our like marketing reach. Yeah, what you will on my show, people will be listening. But wait, just like, let me ask you this. I'm assuming, and I don't know, tell me what I'm wrong, that do people, I know, A, that people do have to, like, show some form of ID so that you could make sure that they're real, right?
Starting point is 00:39:01 And but that is not for the general public or anything. That's just for you, right? So people shouldn't get freaked out by that, correct? Like, that's just a part of your process to make sure you're dealing with a real person, right? So, after an application is reviewed. and we don't ask for ID on the application, just a social media link. And then sometimes people aren't on social media. And then we just expect to read more about them in their application and just base the decision as we can.
Starting point is 00:39:27 And then if a person's application is approved, we reach out to them to schedule a half hour Zoom interview. It's a I check. And they flash their ID during that call. Oh, okay. So you're seeing, but you have to see them. You're looking at them then. Okay, cool. And also we have a no under 20.
Starting point is 00:39:45 25 policy and sometimes you just also want to see that, but you got to see who the person is. I was going to ask you about age. I'm assuming because you sound so inclusive and open that there's no age limit, but there is one as far as like you can't be younger than 25 or is there also and you can't be older than this as well? We don't have a you can't be older. The 25 has been a very good rule. Everybody loves it. But we have people, the median age I would say is mid 30s to early 40s. but we have people who are in their 60s. You know, it's the spirit that you're living in. It's how you're presenting yourself.
Starting point is 00:40:24 Can you party with everyone else? You know, are you up for it? And are you just engaging? It's people ask what we look for during the interviews. And it's, you turn the corner at the party and there's a lot of corners at the party. It's kind of labyrinth. Yeah. And I want you to be excited to either fuck.
Starting point is 00:40:45 this person or talk to that person. Right. And walk out, satisfy just the same. Right. You know, but in a different way. And how many times a month do you have these? Is it a monthly thing? Is it a bi-monthly or two times a year thing that happens?
Starting point is 00:41:02 We started off bi-monthly. And now, because the membership of the club keeps growing and there's so much more demand and tickets just sell out so much quicker, we are starting with every month. Right, once a month. Yeah. And we just announced, we had already January and March on the books, but then January sold out and really quickly and we're like, well, we can do February now.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Yeah, why not? And now it's like, I mean, I got this idea from you from the beginning. It's not like you look for couples. I mean, anyone can join, right? Can couples join together and solo people? If it is a couple, do they have to sign up separately? Like, how does that work? So everybody needs their own.
Starting point is 00:41:45 application and everybody would be like their own member if they move forward however we prefer to interview couples together to really like see the dynamic of how these people are going to navigate the party together yeah but about a third of the guest list comes single yeah that's amazing there's single men single women and we keep the gender split at the party just down the middle we do uh keep track of the gender ratio as tickets are sold. It's kind of popular a lot of times at play parties to really outweigh the ratio towards women.
Starting point is 00:42:24 Yeah. And that creates a dynamic that we're not fans of. Yeah. So we keep it down the middle. And because you had that guy that was like into guy and guy action when you were early on, I'm assuming your club is not against that because what really surprises me a lot of the times is when I hear how a lot of swinger clubs and a lot of people in the quote unquote lifestyle are still very anti-guy-on-guy action. Like there's still people that can't hook up with or have that
Starting point is 00:42:57 kind of sex at certain kinds of parties. The majority of them, unfortunately. Not yours, I'm assuming, right? No. So this was, I'm going to take this as a two-part question. Yeah. As far as just being welcoming of single men as a concept, there's, is not a baseless concern of single men being a greater risk at a party. That said, we are not here to color everyone by some negative example. I believe it's important to uplift the good men of our communities. Otherwise, what are we accomplishing? We're just punishing across the board. and also plenty of women want dick at the party. And I have been to parties where it's really just couples and single women.
Starting point is 00:43:52 And while I enjoy my time with a woman, it's like I don't always want a package deal and there's just no other options. Yeah, interesting. Okay, second part was the guy guy action. And the second part, our party swings kind of like heteroflexible. Yeah. There's actually, I would say, the most dick on dick action you'd see at a party that's not presenting themselves at. as a queer party. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:13 This was really important to us to just send that message out there that this is more than okay. Yeah. We do a Friday night. So the parties are on Saturday. And Friday night before the Saturday, just for the people who are coming on Saturday, there's an optional mixer. Oh, interesting.
Starting point is 00:44:32 And sometimes it's a workshop and then a mixer. So we did a workshop about like a year and a half ago about discovering and exploring the pleasures of the male G spot. and we had two couples demonstrating. And I really, I think, got the message across of like, this here is more than fine. Go for it. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Like if you want to do this kind of stuff here, we're down and we're okay with it. So anyway, let's get back to the party. So when you get that. Oh, can I tell a really hot story? Yeah. Yeah. Of course. Really super quick.
Starting point is 00:45:01 Yeah. No, don't make it quick. Make it long. Super hot story. You could go on. I was at one of the top, I was at a top floor party and I was hanging out with a place. a play partner, a buddy, and we were hitting it off with this other couple and now we're on a bed. And me and the other woman, we started just nerding out over our vibrators.
Starting point is 00:45:21 And we turn around and the guys are 69ing and we're like, and now we missed everything. But it was lovely. And that's exactly the kind of party we want to be running. Right. Because you're into guy and guy action. Like you get turned on if you see it. Yeah. Well, me personally, I'm just like into like legit people just having a guy.
Starting point is 00:45:40 good time. I have such a... A voyeur? No, I'm just back to compersion. Oh yeah, there you go. Like, even with a partner, like sometimes I won't be into maybe like playing with the people who we're with, but I will be there facilitating. I will help
Starting point is 00:45:56 out and whatever. Like, well, you guys need water. You need an extra hand on your balls. Like I am there for it. Yeah, that's like, that's the part of you that like got back end, Burning Man running this fucking club. You're always running the show. But that's what, and that's what I was to ask you, but if you have compersion, maybe this is where it comes in, because I'm thinking, like, at these parties, you're hosting them now, you're working them. I mean, you used to go to them.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Do you get to enjoy yourself while you're there, or are you, like, work in it? That is a popular question and a great concern to them near and dear. I'm definitely for the first, so we start at 930, up to, like, 1 a.m., I'm really in hostess mode. Yeah. And then that's when, after that I feel like more relaxed like I'm still on guard of if I'm needed. And sometimes things have happened like last party and this will happen. Thank God we have seven bathrooms. There was a clock toilet and I was the closest one there to take care of it. All right. Like stupid things like that can happen. And I'm like well this is like I need to like like decompress after that experience and try to feel sexy again. Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes you got to take care of stuff. But I I, I
Starting point is 00:47:10 I enjoy hosting. A lot of times people are there for the first time or they're having a very vulnerable new experience. This one time, a woman showed up who did not know what kind of party she was going to. Why? Because a guy brought her and didn't tell her? So this guy, and it took me a while to figure this out. So a friend pulls me over. It's very early at the party.
Starting point is 00:47:36 And he's like, hey, this woman was about to leave. She's like a little upset. You want to talk to her? And actually turned out that she's Russian. And I speak Russian. So that was like a really good, you know, breaking the barrier a bit. Yeah, for sure. And what happened was, and I'm like, I don't even know you.
Starting point is 00:47:50 I don't remember interviewing you. And she, this guy who didn't even show up bought her ticket somehow without membership. I don't know. Like something confusing happened. But he stood her up and she decided, well, I'm just going to go to this party. Oh, my God. She's got a party. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Okay. Which is a totally reasonable decision. Yeah. But now she's here and she's like not comfortable and in shock, honestly. So we went out to the balcony, shared a joint. Yeah. Had a pretty in-depth conversation about our backgrounds. And I was like, look, let me take you around.
Starting point is 00:48:29 No pressure to stay. Stay dressed as well, whatever. Let me take you around. And then as we were on the balcony, actually this came up, I was telling her what a Sibian is. Yeah. She's really just outside of a lot of this sexual situation. But what I, the way I was kind of positioning it, which is true is I'm like, this is the lowest commitment to a sexual activity here. Like you just sit on your clothes on. You sit on it. It's just like, see if you enjoy it. We have two. We can hold each other's remotes. We'll do this together. It'll be great. And she's super warmed up to it. And then we ended up doing that like in the middle of the dance floor. And then. And then she started like going around to people telling how like interesting and exciting that was. And she stayed to like 2 a.m. Wow.
Starting point is 00:49:16 That guy didn't realize. He should have never stood her up. He would have had a good time. Clearly she would have had a better time without him. Yep. But you were telling me before like you're in work mode until like one. And then after that is that when you maybe will play if you find people attractive. And how long does that party go to?
Starting point is 00:49:33 Because in New York it could go to four, right? Like that's the time. We go till 730. Oh. So it's after hours. No shit. 7.30? Like seven, but yeah. Well, because do you have alcohol there? Like, or is it bring your own because of what you're doing?
Starting point is 00:49:51 So you're not allowed to sell alcohol. Yeah. At such events in New York, at least we have an open bar. Oh, okay, cool. It's just all included. Yeah. It's much easier and honestly classier. That way we have an amazing head of bar.
Starting point is 00:50:06 She's an award-winning mixologist. we have like cocktails. And then we have virgin options as well and just like water constantly available. Right. So you could run then until 730. It's not like you're doing a speakeasy. Like that's like you're not allowed to do it by law, right? Because you're not serving alcohols at a bar, right?
Starting point is 00:50:23 You could keep it open to whatever time you want. Yeah. At the end of the day, we're in a private hotel space. Yeah. Oh my God. What's your clientele like? I mean, just like everything you could imagine. Super hot people.
Starting point is 00:50:36 Like all of the. It is an attractive party. Yeah. That is nice, but it's a very diverse party. Yeah. And for us, it starts with economic diversity. So I don't know if you picked up on it, it's a fancy, schmancy party. Yeah, it sounds like that.
Starting point is 00:50:53 Yeah, I was going to ask you price. I don't know if you want to give it, but like, you know, I was assuming it is because you're, you're, it's basically open bar. So you have to put that into it, right? I mean, how else are you paying for all that alcohol? Yeah. And plenty other expenses as well. Of course. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:11 But we believe in economic diversity. It's very important to us to keep things accessible. It's aligned with our principles. And economic diversity opens up doors to all sorts of other diversity. But how do you do that by creating like a sliding scale? I mean, if it's so expensive, how do you create a, like, how do you create economic diversity? About a quarter of the guest list are volunteers. Oh, interesting.
Starting point is 00:51:37 it's a huge production. Okay. The only paid positions during the party are the security, the medic, we have a medic on staff, and one professional bartender per bar supported by volunteer staff. Right. So a quarter of the people just put in two hours during the party or a little longer, if it's before the party. Right. And then there are participants like everyone else. Oh, interesting. And they get highly discounted tickets. Right. Okay, cool. And our regular tickets and tickets are not tiered based on gender or single couple status is just the same per individual. Our regular tickets do come on a sliding scale and those who can just choose to support the party more and subsidize the volunteer tickets. Right. So there is a sliding scale. Like I could go to
Starting point is 00:52:22 the website and see, oh, you know, you could pay this or you could pay this top price or pay what you feel is within your budget. Correct? Is that how it goes? Kind of? Yes. Yeah. It's like that. but there is no difference of what you're getting. There's no, there's no VIP, there's no special privileges to different tickets. It's just, you know, your support of the party. Right. So you got the economic diversity first. And then there's, I have a lot of opinions on this, there's this question of ethnic diversity.
Starting point is 00:52:56 Yeah. Right. So I like to think that I'm pretty familiar with the New York. There's plenty of organized parties out there. and it's pretty bifurcated. You have very clearly does it like focused bi-pac parties. Just a small handful
Starting point is 00:53:13 and they're not amazing, honestly. They're doing their best, but it's just they're like spinning out. And then you have the quote-unquote everybody parties. But often enough, these everybody parties are not that diverse. Right. and I've had experiences having very honest conversations with particularly women about how they would feel uncomfortable in a space where there's no representation. Right.
Starting point is 00:53:44 When, and this is just super honest, when Top Floor first came back and it was, you know, just building up that clientele all over again, we barely leaned into the old guest list. it was not as diverse as it is now. Right. And that was a conscious effort on several people of having very active conversations, of bringing more people into the community. Because a lot of times it's like a chicken egg situation of like, okay, but if you don't come, there is no representation. Right.
Starting point is 00:54:17 And just making sure people are welcomed. It has been called to our attention recently that we could be doing better, even more so. And actually I think I have a call later today, but reached out to certain more like very active members of our community who are people of color and we do panel discussions. And we were thinking of, like I was already like bouncing us off several people of getting some, you know,
Starting point is 00:54:45 sex spurts and maybe like some activist background kind of people in a panel, especially women, to talk about these sex positive. spaces in the context of diversity. Yeah, I love that. You know, like cultural inclusion. So that's something that's being worked on. It's very important.
Starting point is 00:55:07 And there's just a lot of just cultural barriers that get in the way. Yeah, that's interesting. Considering it's New York City, right? So you would think it's the most diverse that you would find anywhere, but it's not. And you want it to be more. For certain. Yeah. And it's a lot of times it's interesting the kind of backgrounds people come from.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Like somebody who grew up really, really religious versus like somebody, you know, who's always been in like some kind of like liberal artsy household. Yeah. And, you know, and then we have like the Wall Street types. And then we have the Brooklyn artists because of the economic diversity. Yeah. And the people who can very comfortably afford an expensive party, the kind of people who end up joining top floor
Starting point is 00:55:56 and not the kind of people who want to be just in a room full of the same like socioeconomic class. Right. They want that diversity. Exactly. It just defines the vibe of the party. Yeah, love it. I mean, most people that live in New York, that's what they're here for, right? You could find sort of one note anywhere else, right? I mean, it's like they call it the melting pot for a reason. Now, I still have a million other questions, but I am going to talk to your guy,
Starting point is 00:56:21 your partner, Alon. And so I could ask him even more. Why don't you give a shout out to your party so that people could check it out and go sign up or fill out that initial questionnaire. And if they have more questions that you guys need to know, I'm going to be talking to her partner. And I'm going to ask even more questions because I feel like I have so many more. I loved your story and all your input into this. But why don't you give a shout out to like where people could sign up and all that kind of good stuff? And then, but just so you know, I'm going to put it all in the description too.
Starting point is 00:56:50 Awesome. And thank you for your passion of curiosity. This has been an excellent experience. Yeah, no, it's fun. I love this stuff. Like I said, I have like so many more questions, but I'm like, oh, I'll just ask a lot because I'm like, I can just ask you a million questions about the questionnaire, what kind of questions.
Starting point is 00:57:03 I'm going to get all that stuff next on his thing too. But anyway, give your shout out. Yeah. So it's topfloorclub.com.
