Now listen, today I have on Lindsay Wynn.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Lindsay Wynn is super smart. She's here to talk about vulva and vaginal health. She started a company called Momotaro Apotheca that has products that deal with vulva and vaginal health. Her backstory is super interesting of how she started her company. She had a bout with a yeast infection that just would not go away for like a year. And, you know, if you're a woman listening to this, you know either you've been through it or one of your friends has been through that.
Starting point is 00:03:46 That could happen. It happened to her. And when that happened, none of the products on the market were working for her. she decided to create her own. And what she created became Mamotaro Apotheca. She's got amazing products. They're all organic, homeopathic. She goes into all of them specifically. We talk about after sex care. We talk about menopause issues. We talk about just, you know, BV and UTIs and yeast infections. And we discuss all the products that she has that could help them as well as she gives you such like really great information about aftercare, Sacks, and what to do to not have these things happen.
Starting point is 00:04:24 She runs this great company. She talks at the end how if you go to her site and you want to buy a product and you have a question about anything, she's, she's there to answer it for you. She's super smart. She has a lot of great information. She sells great products. You're going to definitely want to check it out. Her link to her website will be in the description.
Starting point is 00:04:42 But I'm going to be right back on with Lindsay. And welcome to the Strictly anonymous podcast. How are you today? Hi, Kathy. I'm so good. How are you? I'm good. So listen, we're going to be talking about vaginal health and wellness and all that kind of good
Starting point is 00:04:56 stuff. And you're here to talk about it because you are the CEO and founder of a company called Mamotaro Apotheca. Okay. Now, I practice saying that because it kind of is like, let's say that five times fast. I don't know if I could do it, you know. But why don't you explain to people what Mamotaro Apotheca is and then explain your background and how you got into creating all these products that, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:19 help vaginal health. That's what you're doing, right? At your company. Yeah, totally. That's layman's terms for sure. So my name is Lindsay, like I said. I am the co-founder and CEO of Momotara Apotheca. We are a certified organic vulva vaginal health care company. So we are specifically non-gendered. We make essentially homeopathic alternatives to what people think of as the femic pariahia aisle, like products that sit in the femcare aisle. So we address bacterial vaginosis, UTIs, yeast infections, postpartum care, itching, dryness, irritation, anything that has to do with discomfort around the vulva or the vagina and then oftentimes infections as well. So, you know, not the like cool, hot, sexy things that people typically think of when you work in like a sex-related
Starting point is 00:06:14 industry. But for me, it's super important. And for anybody with a vagina, it's super important because these issues affect, you know, all sorts of parts of our lives, whether it's pain to pleasure. And, you know, the conversations that come in between that, whether it's with a partner or a professional, say. So, you know, not one girl that I know, okay? And, you know, hasn't had a yeast infection or BV like 10 times in their life. I mean, like, it's just, these are real life things. And they do get in the way, like, listen, I have a sex podcast, right? So a lot of times we're talking about sex. If you want to relate this to sex, it's a good. gets in the way of having sex because you don't, you know, you got to get your BV under control or
Starting point is 00:06:53 your yeast infection under control. You can't have sex when you got those things going on. And I'm personally a very natural person. I prefer natural stuff first and foremost. I believe, you know, in taking stuff that isn't natural when you really have to, right? But when it comes to that part of my body, I love that you're creating these more homeopathic stuff, things, right? Yeah. the stuff that's out there like all those other brands we all know about that have been out there forever and are really super harsh. Yeah. And well, and that's kind of the point. So, you know, there's a place for those methodologies like people will, you know, recognize that you can take antibiotics for BV, you would take an antifungal for, say, yeast infection. But those, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:39 very commonly prescribed methodologies also can, you can have resistance. from them or you can have adverse reactions to them. And so, you know, while we don't poo-poo Western medicine, like say you have a UTI and it turns into a kidney infection, it's, of course, really important to have like life-saving, you know, medicine, like an antibiotic, but there are other ways. And obviously beyond the products you make, the sex education that comes behind it is so crucial because we often don't know how and why these things happen, like on a personal level. But like you said, like they interfere with sex, but they're also caused by sex. So knowing what is happening to your body, what you're doing to your body, what's a trigger,
Starting point is 00:08:21 you know, what's the difference between a fungal infection, a bacterial infection, helps us better treat and prevent these issues. And so that's a big part of what we do is just helping people better understand their vulva and vaginal health. Oh my God. Let's start there. Why don't you tell people like what they're doing that might, you know, when they're having sex, that might be causing these kinds of problems and issues? Yeah, well, I mean, I think a good place to start is understanding that, you know, you have various microbiomes all over your body.
Starting point is 00:08:52 So your vagina has a microbiome. People, I think, pretty much recognize that you have a gut microbiome. And those are, those are these basically little universes that have these bacterial balances and fungal balances and things like that. And so when you introduce a third party, be it a penis, a lube, a tammoth, a tammoth, a tammoth, a tammal. ramp on, you can experience changes. And so, you know, for a lot of people, and a big one is like, say you have sex with somebody that has a penis, semen. Semen is a huge trigger. It's a different pH than our vaginal pH and it can cause BV. And BV is typically, people recognize it as having kind of thin, gray, watery, white discharge, as well as what people describe as that fissue odor. It's the most common
Starting point is 00:09:38 In the general infection we have about one in 30% of people with vaginas have it. Or sorry, sorry, 30% of people with vaginas have BV at any given time. So it's super, super common. And there's just one of them are say like a yeast infection. Oftentimes we get these lubs or condoms or things that have sugar in them. Like we all know the like, you know, vanilla tasting loops. Like those aren't good for microbiomes either. And sugar feeds the yeast.
Starting point is 00:10:08 Candida, which is then what can give you a yeast infection. So understanding those, you know, pieces. And then there's friction and friction that could cause micro-taring, which could open up your body to more infection or not being after sex and having bacteria in your urethra. Like, you know, there's so many things. And just kind of seeing what to look out for to me is really important. And or having the methodologies to then, like, address them, right? Like, I might not want to be some pure, perfect, I only have access to natural organic, sugar-free lubes type person. Like, maybe I want to, like, drink the margarita, have rough sex. I don't have the right lube.
Starting point is 00:10:48 And like, now I need to go about my day and figure out how to prevent getting yeast infection or UTI or something like that. So that's a big part of it is not poo-pooing the, like, very real parts of sex and our sex lives. Want to have better sex? Well, then you need to try Blu-chew. Blue Chew is the original brand offering chewable tablets that contain the same active ingredients as Cialis, Lovietra, and Viagra at a fraction of the cost. That's Bluchu.com or just go to the description and click on the link. Now I need to go about my day and figure out how to prevent getting yeast infection or UTI or something like that. So that's a big part of it is not poo-pooing the like very real parts of sex and our sex lives. Quick question because I feel like I was going to ask. Maybe I did or I think I skipped over.
Starting point is 00:12:33 But like why, like what did what got you into this business? Like what were you doing before this and what made you decide to start this kind of a company? Yeah. So I was a full-time photographer before this actually. So you all get to know the business. All of the photography I do myself. Actually, it's a big part of how we kind of communicate our messages with real bodies, real people, real stories. I love that by the way.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Yeah. Thank you. But while I was experiencing frustration within my own career, I was working a lot in the beauty industry. I had a new partner. He lived in Portland and we were hiking and we're like, cool, it's fucking this hot spring. And we thought this was going to be like really sexy. PSA do not have sex in a hot spring. It sounds hot.
Starting point is 00:13:19 It is not lots of bacteria in it. You don't want to introduce foreign bodies of water into your vaginal canal, right? We're having penetrative sex. And again, like we're surrounded by wood that feels. cool, but I get like the fucking yeast infection from Satan himself. And I go straight to a monostat and my body just does not, which is, you know, common. Monoste can work for people a really common way to solve that issue. And it just made things worse.
Starting point is 00:13:45 And it kind of snowballed from there. That gave me BV. BV gave me a UTI, UTI. You know, I got like another yeast infection. I mean, it just became this like crazy cycle, which is also very common because like we said with some of these like pretty harsh prescriptions and even OTC options, they can totally wipe out the good bacteria with the bad bacteria. So you're not necessarily starting from like baseline zero. You're starting from like a subpar position. So you have to grow back your vaginal flora,
Starting point is 00:14:14 rebalance those things. And that can be really hard for some folks. So I went through like six months to a year of just recurrent, full of vaginal health infections. And it affected everything I did. I felt really like self-conscious. So we know sexual dysfunction and vaginal infections are psychosomatic. So the stress ends up perpetuating more infections, actually. Stress is clinically linked to vulva vaginal candidiasis. Oh, interesting. So, yeah, like the more stressed out you are.
Starting point is 00:14:46 I mean, think about it, stress affects our immune system. And so you're more able to get sick. And so after trying literally everything, like if you can, Google it. I have done it, which I also do not recommend. Like, I made myself into this vaginal wellness, like, DIY project. You put garlic in there, like, all the different things you see on Google. Totally. The garlic, the yogurt so tampon, like, laying upside down with, like, a green tea vulva mask. It's like, shit. Those are just, like, not reasonable for a person who needs to, like, live in the world and, like, go to work. And so I was very lucky my romantic partner and still
Starting point is 00:15:23 current business partner's background is in microbiology and sustainability and we started moving to a natural space where like I was finding some relief from some individual ingredients and then we're like we can do this better and we really wanted to make these like super products and this like super individual thing that was going to give me relief so I wanted like to address the like topical symptoms right like you know if you have a yeast infection it's so fucking itchy and uncomfortable But then you also need to address the root cause. So we looked at all the ingredients we could that might, you know, that had clinical studies behind them for the issues we wanted to solve.
Starting point is 00:16:04 Then we brought it to naturopaths, gynecologist, pharmacologist to help, you know, formulate a correct and balanced product that would be body safe. Yeah, that's amazing. First of all, you were with the perfect partner, right? Because that's where, I mean, he had this background to begin with. But, I mean, how long did it take you to? create all these products and do all your research and get up and running because I would think that that's a huge task. Yeah. Well, let's see. I was 27. I'm 35 now. I'd say we fully launched about
Starting point is 00:16:38 three years later. We obviously started, we bootstrapped this business. Yourself. Yeah, for, yeah, for a really long time. We still only have taken a little bit of money from friends and family. And this is expensive work to do because like you said, the safety and the testing. Yeah. And all of that is is pretty intense. So we launched with topical cosmetics, what people think of as cosmaceuticals. So at that time, we were really only addressing soothing symptoms, which if you get into the legal of this is very important. We were not treating at that time. And then we had to grow. And so, you know, basically from 2019 on, we've been able to then, we brought on a suppository, which is, you know, a homeopathic medicine that can treat East infection. We brought on a supplement for UTIs. We brought on a probiotic. And these are cures. The yeast infection is a treatment.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Okay, yeah. Okay. There's still a lot of kind of like red tape, especially with homeopathic and plant-based medicine that you have to have kind of that black box warning that you have on anything that has a drug fax panel that says like, this is not intended to treat cure and da-da-da-da. So, you know, there's still a lot of gray area there. with that, but we are allowed to say treat yeast infections. And now five years later, you know, we have a ton of anecdotal evidence. And if one day I stumble upon, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:03 an extra five million dollars that I can just like pull out, I will do, you know, I'll go deep into a comparative analysis because that's what you would need to say, cure. No, even, even, even regular Western methodology, like curing is not 100%. Chemotherapy. he doesn't even necessarily cure cancer. Exactly. You know, it might, it might. It can treat it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:29 But a cure is really black and white. I actually don't know what the legal around is it. But, you know, saying, making claims is a really difficult whole other part of building a company like this that you have to be really careful with. So we just really try to be as truthful and anecdotal with our customers about what we can, obviously what we can say legally and then help them better understand the products and like kind of what they do. But the biggest thing for us is the prophylactics.
Starting point is 00:18:55 Like you can use these products and you'll like especially our SAV, which is our hero and you feel it immediately. You're like, oh, I was burning and itching and now I'm not. And that's really important to me. And then what happens after that? Like, you know, you shall see, which is really, really beautiful. I recommend anybody who hasn't tried the products to go on and like, you know, read our reviews, especially for the SAV. And now, so you were like, you had that problem for a long time that was bothering you. Nothing was getting rid of it.
Starting point is 00:19:23 And you started trying these different things. And this is how you came up with these products. You eventually cure yourself. And that's how you're like, oh, this actually works. And this was something that you created. Totally. Yeah. I have not had a full blown use infection or BV in five years.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Wow. And some of these things are like you could take them so that you, they prevent them from prevent them. Yeah. So prevent you from. Yes. Like a good thing. And prevention again is like, like, we'll just put a pin in it.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Yeah. Right now and everybody who's listening, like, we're going to use colloquial language. But like, yes, for me, I can talk about my personal experience. Yes. Like, I, there's a ton of clinical data around taking, say, like, cranberry or organ grape or things like that for a UTI that helps you prevent because it's creating, you know, an antimicrobial environment within, say, you know, your body that helps fight these infections, specifically the types of bacteria. and funguses that cause these infections. Or say, like the probiotic we make, we make a probiotic that is a combination of a bunch of different strains that specifically target your gut and vaginal microbiome as well as it enhances
Starting point is 00:20:35 your immune system. So, like, again, we were really looking at these infections from a holistic standpoint. Like, it's not just one thing. It's not just, like, drinking cranberry juice. I need to also be adding, like, an antimicrobial. element to the mucous membrane where say bacteria might be getting on and around my vulva or within my urethra that could be the cause of my uh say uti's and so really again coming at it from all angles addressing micro tearing is such a big one for people who are triggered by sex and so we've really again like i think created a holistic resource that can
Starting point is 00:21:12 that can prevent it's it's helped me prevent yeast infection and having a full-blown infection And, you know, like I said, for five years. And what I think is really interesting, when we think about vulvo vaginal care, vulva vaginal care has always been, again, feminine care. And it's been presented as post-acute symptomatic care. So it's something that's very, very like you have the infection, like, you know what's coming. So if you're somebody that's had recurrent infection, do you feel that first it? You feel that first tingle.
Starting point is 00:21:44 And like, why are we not giving people the opportunity to, you know, to then, like, address that and prevent it. Like, people have to wait till all of a sudden they have potage cheese discharge, and then they go to the doctor. And, like, beyond that, we've had, like, we've touted and created this really harmful language around caring for our volvos and our vaginas that has prevented us from doing anything about it. The amount of people I know that are like, oh, my God, the vagina is self-cleaning.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Like, don't touch it. I'm like, sure. Yes, the vagina is self-cleaning. and it's not self-fulfilling. My vagina is not going to give my vulva a fucking hug because it itches. I've never heard that before. Who thinks that? You know, like we can address symptoms.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Like having an uncomfortable, itchy, irritated, dry, and inflamed vulva prevents us from, like, focusing on the things we should be at our family, going to an important event, getting work done. Like, this is a quality of life issue. focusing on the things we should be at our family going to an important event getting work done. Like this is a quality of life issue. Yeah, for sure. And as women age, some of these kinds of things become much more common just because of what's going on, right?
Starting point is 00:23:02 You need that probiotic even more when you're hitting menopause and perimenopause, right? Because all that stuff is changing. And you guys have a lot of stuff and products for women, you know, dealing with perimenopause and menopause as well, correct? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, paramenopause, I mean, menopause is distinguished by a full calendar year, not having your period. Paramenopause can be up to 10 years ahead of that. I call it peri-fucking menopause. Very fucking menopause.
Starting point is 00:23:30 I read a book on it. Perry-fucking menopause. It's the worst time for women. And it is like 10 years. They go crazy. Yeah, people actually say paramenopause is more painful and more disruptive than actual menopause is because it's, all these amorphous symptoms that people don't really need to like know how to put their finger on them. So it's like you're not sleeping. You're having hot flashes. You're fatigued. You have to take a
Starting point is 00:23:56 nap. Or like if you go into the little vaginal pieces, like a lot of a lot of these are actually really frankly all of them infections. You have a higher increase of them because you have a loss of estrogen in your body. And estrogen creates atrophy and tissue. which then can exacerbate all of these issues. Yeah, I remember listening to some podcast on this woman was on it. And I knew around her age and she kept talking about like every time she fucked, she was getting like a UTI. And I wanted to be like, that's like that's going to happen now. You're like in perimenopause like this. It's because of your age, right? Like those things do happen more because like you said, it's just a, and that's why you need these kinds of things even more so, you know.
Starting point is 00:24:38 The statistics are, sorry, excuse me, the statistics are there. The numbers don't lie as we age, especially UTIs, there's definitely an increase in them. And yeah, there's something you can do about it. You can apply like a really nutritious vulva bomb that can help like increase your tissue quality, decrease itching, all of those things. I'm like, it's not hard to do and it shouldn't be taboo. Yeah, no. And then, you know, and I think that if you all, like the probiotic, I know that I've always
Starting point is 00:25:10 taken a probiotic for vaginal. Yeah. I mean, that's just something that everyone should take. But I think when you get older. especially in menopause, that really helps too. What other products do you have for, like the perimenopause menopause phase? Yeah, I always recommend our probiotic for sure. I always recommend the vulva salve.
Starting point is 00:25:29 So just if you don't know the difference, the vulva is all of the external genitalia. Yeah. People often refer to it as the vagina, but it is the exterior. So it's everything from the clitoris, urethral opening, labia, menorah, and majora. and you can apply something if you have, again, discomfort there. I love a vaginal suppository. A vaginal suppository, I think, is really important because, again, it adds some of those antimicrobial pieces and some, like, to help you fight the yeast infection or fight the BV.
Starting point is 00:25:59 These can be used as a 14-day treatment, or you can just pop one in for maintenance. Like, say, you just had rough sex and you have some of that atrophy and you need some support internally. I think that's really important. And this is controversial, this is controversial, though it shouldn't be. We do not offer this service yet. But hormone replacement therapy is really important for people in paramedopause as well as menopause. Especially you could apply local vaginal estrogen, which can make a gigantic difference in your quality of life. Oh my God. I started, I had a baby way later in life. So I was like, you know, there was no chance I wasn't going to go on hormones, you know, because I was like, if the changes were happening, I was like turning. into a Karen. I mean, I'm like, I can't, I need patients, I need sleep, I need all those things, and then some, you know, and just a little bit. I started in perimenopause and it's harder to get like your levels correct when you're doing hormones at that time, but a little bit totally
Starting point is 00:26:56 changes your whole life through those stages. And then once you get into menopause, it's really easy to get dialed in and figure out the right dose because you kind of like flatline peri menopause. You're like up and down all the time, you know, but like I said, a little bit of estrogen, little bit of progesterone, the right amount of hormones could really save your life during that time because it really is an up and down crazy experience. And it really, I had no hot flashes, none of the sleep problems, no atrophy, no dryness, none of those things. And I wasn't even on high doses at that time. Now I'm in full menopause and I do testosterone and progesterone. You know, I'm doing injections in the whole bit. But in Perry, it was just a little bit.
Starting point is 00:27:34 And it really made a huge difference. And people really can start. If they're, if they're, they don't want to do injections, if they don't want to do the patch, they can start with topical estrogen. I mean, there's benefits. Yeah. There's benefits for every generation in terms of taking at least topical estrogen to start. You know, I'm 35, like I said, and like, I'm peering down the barrel of paramedopause, which I don't think people, I don't think people realize that, like, you know, you can start paramount paramedop, but typical age is 42, but some people started as young as 38. 100%.
Starting point is 00:28:11 That, yeah. The average is you're going to go into menopause 51, but there's early onset and there's late onset, right? And so depending on where your menopause is going to hit, which is the flatlining, that parry is going to start like 10 years before. So if you're going to go earlier than 51, you could start. I have my nanny is in her late 30s. And she's 100% experiencing peri menopause.
Starting point is 00:28:33 And I was like, this is what it is. It's 100. You know, that's what's going on. And it's very genetic. Like I always tell people like, check with your mom. and your sisters. I mean, there's only like really a few things that can actually change the time of when you're going to go. But typically it's like if your mom went early or late, you know, you will. But everyone has that clock and it's just going to happen when it happens and every
Starting point is 00:28:52 woman's going to go through it. You know, it just is what it is. But it could be a very scary time. I literally texted my mom this morning about taking, I don't think she's on any sort of hormone replacement therapy. Right. She's just been experiencing a ton of pain, discomfort, especially as it relates to UTIs. And she's, she's already post-menopause, but it's also another piece is you never arrive. Like having a relationship with your sexual health and your whole vaginal health, it's always going to be changing no matter what. So, you know, being conscientious and like with yourself and staying in tune, tell people to journal or put something on your notes app and be like, you know, just try and notice if there's any sort of pattern
Starting point is 00:29:33 with these changes that are happening within your body. Yeah. And what I always say because like when I I was always calling it like peri fucking menopause I'm like oh that's like such a great title for a book and I was like I'm gonna write that book so I got I sort teamed up with this gynecologist to do it and you know a lot of people think you know losing your libido is 100% across the board the minute you lose your hormones but it's really not it but the reason why it happens to so many women and this is what people don't understand and I tell my friends like that aren't partnered up that are going through paramed menopause like you better start like if you don't have a guy fucking you every day like you're going to you're going to you're going to to fuck yourself every day because what happens around that time, if you're still having sex and you're getting penetrated all the time and you're sexually active, you could fly through that time and keep your libido. But unfortunately, what happens most of the time at that age, women have been with their husbands for so long. They're banging them maybe once a month, if that, right? So it's not so much and it's not so common. And that's why you get the atrophy. Because if you don't use it, you lose it is a big thing at that time. So you, to keep yourself healthy down there,
Starting point is 00:30:36 I'm like tell my friends, I'm like put a fucking dildo in there. And like every day, like it's your practice. It's like you got to do it because that's how you're also going to take care of it. There's actually one wonderful clinical data that actually supports that. And part of the reason that people should be at the very least masturbating, masturbate through menopause, masturbate through paramedopause is because when you feel pleasure, you're bringing fresh blood flow, fresh oxygenated blood flow to that vulva skin, to your vagina and that's healing like any other part of your body it's why it's part of the reason
Starting point is 00:31:10 why we exercise it's why people do wash off of their face it's like that fresh blood is really really good for your body and you don't have to worry about you know maybe like maybe you're not the most naturally lubricated person but you're still your vagina actually doubles in size both your vagina and your vulva in large because it's so engorged with blood when you're aroused and so make this part of your personal wellness practice. Like, guess what? You can stay home and masturbate and that's good for you. It doesn't always have to be a run. It doesn't have to necessarily be lettuce. This is something that is good for you. That also feels good for you. That also feels good. So like, you know, remember that. Yeah, no, I think it's like super important. I was just going to ask you a quick question about your suppositories because I remember like when I've had BV many times in my life. And I feel like sometimes it's actually very hard for like them to even diagnose you with it. Right. Like you go, you're like, I have all. that symptoms like you don't have it. I'm like I don't there's no way I don't have it. You know what I mean? And so I'll just like go to the store and I've gotten like boric acid pills. And I'm like so petrified. I'm like these things if I take them orally, I will literally kill myself. But you're telling me to put
Starting point is 00:32:17 him in my vagina and I get so scared like oh that this is going I'm going to forget, right? That this isn't one of my supplements because they take a lot of supplements. I mean do you you you don't have that. I'm looking at your suppositories. They don't have boric acid in them. They're like because is boric acid natural? I mean, do people consider that? homeopath? Some people do. So yeah, there's of course boric acid is extremely controversial, controversial, but we know people, I of course know people. I've used boric acid myself that have had wonderful results. Boric acid just changes the immediate environment. So it changes the pH. So you'll notice that your symptom is going to be gone like right away, especially I think
Starting point is 00:32:58 with boric acid people are like, oh my God, I don't smell fishy anymore. And that to them is really important, especially if they're self-conscious about a partner. But it doesn't, it doesn't address the root cause. I mean, I know there are body safe options out there. We as a company choose to take the like certified organic, natural and homeopathic approach. Yeah. So it's just not our thing. But again, I'm not going to totally poo-poo it. It wouldn't be, if you needed to fix a symptom because you were going to go have like a super hot date or it's your wedding night and you're like, should I have BV and this needs to go away right now. Like, cool, like, go for it.
Starting point is 00:33:37 But it's not going to be a long-term solution. You're going to be buying boric acid for years. And it's expensive. And so I think that's a good way to look at it. So, like, can be a quick fix, but maybe is not the be-all end-all answer for people who really need to resolve recurrent B-B. But also, Volvo Vaginal Health is not one-size-fits-all. What works for a friend or what works for you might not work for another person.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Yeah, no. talk about some of the other conditions that you guys have products that you treat. Yeah, I mean, these infections, UTMBV are big ones, but, you know, we do a ton of postpartum care also. Oh, that's interesting. Talk about that. People don't realize, you know, after you have a baby vaginally or cesarean that there are hormonal changes that happen as, you know, your estrogen changes. Obviously, you just pushed out a baby too. You can go through, you know, whether you have any sort of tearing or you had an episiotomy,
Starting point is 00:34:31 me those are big pieces that we like to talk through because I feel like the people that come to us are like, oh my God, I had this baby. And then nobody tells me what's going to happen after I have the baby. It's all this like preparing for childbirth and like your pregnancy and blah, blah, blah. And then all of a sudden you're like alone in the world. So postpartum care to me, we do a lot of also topical skincare. So I think it's really cool to just have other certified organic options. So again, we sit in the sex industry. So we talk about body hair. We talk about lube. We talk about, you know, how you want to shave and how we can take care of those, like, intimate parts of our bodies. And so that's, that's really fun. We make a body oil, a hydrosol. Exercise is a big part of my life. And BV was,
Starting point is 00:35:18 used to be very much triggered by my yoga practice. I live in New York City. And so I'd like wear these hot, sweaty, drenched yoga shorts like home on a subway and get like raging BV. And so now I think it's really important. You know, we educate on the lifestyle changes that we can make beyond obviously the products that you can use because not everybody has access to these products, but we can all make lifestyle changes. Yeah. Listen, you just made me realize maybe that's why I was always getting V.
Starting point is 00:35:49 I'm a big working out person. I live in New York too, but I'm doing, I don't do yoga, but I do free weights and I'm always, you know, at the gym in my, you know, tight yoga, you know, pants. Same same outfit, right? Yes, cycling, you know, all of that. It doesn't matter what you're doing. If you've got a sweaty vulva, you should get out of those clothes. Yeah, no, totally.
Starting point is 00:36:11 And that's probably yourself really works too if you are, you know, the friction down there, correct? Even if you don't have like itching and stuff just for friction to keep it smooth and everything. Yep, totally. The salve, we make a hydrosol again that is like a, you know, a toner essentially that will, you can spray on the body. Like, you know, my yoga studio doesn't have a shower in it. So I, you know, dry off, cover my body in this, face, body vulva. And then be on my way, slather some salve on. And, you know, off we go.

Starting point is 00:37:39 That's avocado mattress.com. Avocado mattress. What about lichenschlorosis? I'm saying it correctly, right? Yeah. Like in sclerosis. Lichen, sorry. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:50 I thought I said it right. Yeah. Yeah. So if you're a person that has lichen sclerosis, which is kind of characterized by these like red dry itchy patches, psoriasis eczema. We actually, when we first started this company started testing on somebody who had internal vaginal eczema, which is a bunch, basically like a thousand tiny cuts inside their vagina.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Wow. And there's some really cool data with some of our ingredients about how it can address our lichen sclerosis community has been really also stoked on the SAB in particular, especially if you have a flare up. We even have folks who use it for HSV, the SAV. Yeah. So if you're having an HSV breakout, it's a lot. By it.
Starting point is 00:38:29 Yeah, which is her ways. Yep. You can apply it at any point of your infectious state, and it should help. It's a little bit cooling, helps with the itching, helps with the flakiness and healing. Because there's echinacea. And I don't think a lot of people realize echinacea can be used topically. Like, people think of it like, oh, I'm going to take it before I have a cold to prevent it. You can also use it topically, and it can help do the same thing.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Oh, that's interesting. Yeah, I remember when echinacea became the great, the big thing for your immune system. And like you said, battling a cold or something. I never thought of it. I mean, I've heard of T-Trial and different things like that, but that came out around that same time. But I never thought of it topically. And so you just figured this all out when you were doing your research when you started this company. Yeah, totally.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Yeah. Yeah, because beauty trends are often popularized by the systems that develop them. So it could be your copac manufacturer might have new packaging. It could be a new trending ingredient. in because someone invested into this farm. There's so many systems that be that influence our wellness. It's no accident that kale became really popular or chia seeds became really popular. Or we have, you know, like all of these things come from so many other, I guess, influences.
Starting point is 00:39:45 That like doing some of your own research, which I always think is important. And companies that you shop from should be able to answer questions if you have them, like because you did your own research. And so we just, yeah, we just did that. We're like, why, what are the things that we can do that help us topically heal? I don't want to put me a score on my vagina, but I know I have kinds of little cuts, you know. Yeah, yeah. Let's get back into the whole aftercare, you know, sex and like, you know, explain, like,
Starting point is 00:40:17 with the different things that they could use that you offer for after sex care. Yeah, well, so, I mean, after sex, any type of. sex, it's really important to think about like what is happening to your body. One, always get up to pee. Of course, I think people know that. If you can, that helps flush your erythera and move any bacteria out that might cause a uti. If you've had any sort of rough sex or you use lube or a condom, that you may have irritation to. A lot of those things would be really irritating. Again, I recommend using a topical product to address any micro-tearing or even like, or discomfort you might have.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Like maybe you had a long session and you weren't lubricated enough and you're feeling that kind of like weight, pulsating feeling after you've had sex or you knew that like there was some skin tugging. Anytime that there's skin tugging like internally that's going to cause microchairs. Even thing, I mean like these are tears you cannot see with the naked eye. I definitely recommend using any sort of salve on the external vaginal opening. Vulva like if you have friction on the vulva as well because. Oftentimes we come not from penetration, but from stimulation of the clitoris, obviously.
Starting point is 00:41:31 So there can be a ton of friction there. Or then again, internally, we recommend using a suppository. But of course, we always recommend using lube with sex, especially if you're in paramedopause or menopause. We sell a lube on our site called Koko Nu that we love because we haven't made a loob yet that we are obsessed with. We're working on it. But Koko Nu is a really great option if you're looking.
Starting point is 00:41:55 looking for an organic natural lube that still like tastes good and feel good because like some loops are so bad. That's another that's another big one. You know, a rinse off is always awesome. Like I said, semen is a different pH and semen can be super triggering for folks. It was latex, what's ever in condoms for me. It's very irritating. I think if you haven't used one of your toys in a long time, you might put it in and be like, oh my God, it's like burning me because like that something changes in the chemicals. I mean, there's so many things that could go down. you are putting something inside you especially as a woman you know it's a different kind of experience yeah i mean mean and if you are somebody that's sensitive to that and you are like there are some cool companies that make like
Starting point is 00:42:34 glass dildos or stainless steel and those are cool like if those can be warmed up to people like what the heck this is like cold heavy thing you can warm them up which can be really nice for people that you can also use them in the bath which is fun for some folks so there's a lot of there's a lot of options and a lot of to be careful of. I mean, like if a guy's going down on your, you know, on your asshole and then it goes back to your pussy. Like, you might need to clean up because there's a lot of bacteria there. Or same with like, you know, someone's like banging you in the ass and the heat of passion. They go back inside you. That's the big fat. No, no. I mean, you're going to get in trouble with stuff like that, right? But if you. Yes. Yes. We call this like the order of operation. It's true.
Starting point is 00:43:16 It doesn't feel hot to like pull like, you know, if you, if you pull out of an ass and you want to go into a pussy again. You're right. That, like, that is a no fucking no. You know, that is a surefire way to get an infection. And like, so figure it out, pop into the shower in between, take a hot break. Like, there's a lot of companies that make, like, play wipes and stuff too. Like, keep those on your bedside table if you don't want, like, a big interruption. But, like, if you are somebody with a sensitive system, that's a big no. Even people are like, we have, we have customers. that are like, my boyfriend can't drink beer and then go down on me because the yeast in the beer triggers a yeast infection.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Oh, interesting. Like, what's in the saliva? Like, are you guys doing food play? Like, you know, okay, whipped cream sounds hot, but like that's going to give you a yeast infection, you know, a finger. Or, again, make sure you have these products on deck that are then going to provide some relief and help, you know, they're going to help strengthen your immune system. They're going to give you a strong foundation to that and hopefully fight off a full-blown affection.
Starting point is 00:44:26 He might sell some irritation. And again, it's not about being perfect and precious. I hate the wellness industry for how it's so like perfect and precious. Like, I am not that way. In what sense? What do you mean by that? I just think it touts a really high ideal of what wellness should be and what it should look like. Like, not everybody has all the time in the world or the money.
Starting point is 00:44:52 to like buy all the expensive organic things or you know take the time to go through the 16 step skincare routine like right we need we need to have solutions that are like quick and dirty that address the very real sometimes messy aspects of human being a human or human sexuality right exactly and then now it just just explain for women that are in menopause of the I'm just getting more specific as far so if people go check you out they're like oh hey I have this problem, like, what should I get? You know, for women that are in menopause, what are some of the products that you recommend that you offer and what do they, you know, tend to?
Starting point is 00:45:31 Yeah, I mean, I think it's, again, those baseline, those three, we have it in a bundle. It's called the game changer. It's the suppository, the salve, and the probiotic. Those for me are going to be the baseline products of where you should start at Momotaro. They're going to give everybody the tools that they need for a person in menopause. also I would, especially if you have a bath, recommend the tonic because this is, soaps can really be really drying for people too. And we found that some of our community that's suffering from like both full of vaginal atrophy can sit in their bath. The tonic was made as either a topical spot treatment or a
Starting point is 00:46:08 product that can be put in the bathtub in place of your bubble baths and soaps and things like that. So that's a nice one I like to add on as well. Yeah. But yeah, go look up the game changer. and for anybody, especially those of us in paramedopause, menopause, that game changer is really going to give you a good, a good, strong and well-rounded routine. Well, let me tell you what happened to me, and I couldn't figure out what the effing problem was, and then I figured it out. So in between like perimenopause and before I, when I got into menopause, I hadn't like sort of upped my hormone.
Starting point is 00:46:40 So I was like getting a little of the atrophy and all that stuff because I wasn't yet on, you know, for me, I chose to gut on injections and all that. stuff. But so in between, I was like getting really irritated down there. And I didn't know what the F it was. And I couldn't figure out. And then I realized I had changed. I always used like the really cheap toilet paper. And I had switched to the really fluffy, great expensive toilet paper. And that has something in it that was causing me major problems. Right. Once I got on injections, that changed and everything got back to normal down there. But like toilet paper. that actually the good kind, okay, has so much junk in it. And I tend to be sensitive to stuff, right?
Starting point is 00:47:25 You know, they have, I don't know whether it's perfumes or dyes or whatever it is, but it was like irritating the fuck out of my vagina. And that's what it was. And the minute I went back to the cheap shit, the one that lasts you forever, that feels like paper, it went back to normal. And I was like, oh my God, like I was being really irritated by toilet paper. I mean, of course, I googled it and I found out there was plenty of other people, right? You're never alone. But who knew, you know, that that happened. Yeah, totally. I mean, it could be both ways. I mean, toilet people are in general, just like our underwear twos, like the bleaches and the dyes, and I'm sure the really fancy ones probably have, like, secret fragrance in them or something like that. It's probably going to irritate the shit out of us.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Yeah, the tampons with actual, no, tampons with sense. I mean, how are they even out there as something? Like, I remember seeing those that they actually still have stuff like that or pads with, like, perfume and I'm like I mean any woman knows like that kind of stuff like fucks up your pH balance. I don't know. I'm super sensitive but I think anyone should stay away from stuff like that down there. I agree. I agree. And you know, the hope is that people do know and you know it's important that like, you know, folks like yourself and a business like mine continue to advocate for these things because actually some people don't know. You know, there's so many places in the world and communities in the United States that do not have access to any sort of sex ed. You know, this is really common and it's
Starting point is 00:48:47 something that is going to be continued to be an issue politically. And, you know, it's, if the systems that B can't hold space for sex education, you know, the companies do. And so that's why we try to make, you know, if you're somebody that has any sort of question, you know, DM us. We have a chat bot that is a live human beings, send us an email. We have an incredibly pervasive blog that does education again that crosses sex for pleasure, everything for pain, menstrual cycle,
Starting point is 00:49:21 reproductive health cycles that we go through from puberty to childbearing years to menopause and beyond. Or tips on like how to do anal for the first time. Like it's really important that we realize all of these pieces are connected and find the resources to help support us through it because it's not totally black and white. No. And sometimes it's complicated, right?
Starting point is 00:49:45 Yeah. And a lot of people don't like to talk about it. You know, I think people are much more open now. I mean, there's like some celebrities. I think it's Hallie Berry that's actually talking about menopause, but women never spoke about it. Okay. Even your gynecologist doesn't know much when you go there. It's like a real problem, you know, and I think it's changing now.
Starting point is 00:50:00 But it's great that you also are, you know, have products and talk about that and have stuff I saw on your blog about that, you know, because a lot of people, I think they think if you don't talk about it, it's not going to happen. It happens to everybody, okay? It's a real thing. Like, let's just talk about it. And it's a gift, right? What a gift if we get to menopause. It means we're still alive.
Starting point is 00:50:19 And I know a lot of people that would rather be here going through menopause than not. Exactly. Exactly. So let's talk about it. Let's, you know, it's great that you have, you know, that you do have products for women throughout their whole life, you know, no matter what stage they're at. Why don't you give a shout out to so where people could find all your stuff? I will put a link to it as well.

Thank you so much for having me. making time to talk about this kind of stuff. It's super important. I love this stuff. I like medical stuff anyway. But I think it is very important on top of it all. So thanks so much for calling in,
Starting point is 00:52:45 Lindsay. Cool. Kathy, thank you so much and have a good day. You too. Bye. Bye. Okay, I just want to tell you before you go that my book, it's called Strictly anonymous confession, Secret Sex Lives of Total Strangers, is now available not only in paperback and ebook, but you can pre-order the The audiobook. It's still not going to be out until August 25th, but you can pre-order it. The book is basically 17 different stories taken from my show. I kind of picked one story from each category that I talk about on my show. Like there's a hot wife story. There's a cuck queen story. There's a cuck story. There's a gangbang girl story. Like I said, 17 stories. And they're all told in the third person. And they're all true. I took the interview
Starting point is 00:53:34 and rewrote it in the third person. And I wouldn't really call it like a total erotica book. Think like penthouse letters. It's more direct. It's not so over the top like erotica. I don't really like that kind of vibe, right? But these are true stories. 17 of them. They're really short. Chapters, easy read.
