How are you? I'm good. James, listen, you've got an open marriage. I don't know when you had an open marriage. You and your wife got into the lifestyle. You've had three sons. You've done a lot of different things. Maybe your swingers.

I'm not sure. you did have some at some point separate now you know that'll be a part of your story i'm assuming that comes in the middle of like you guys being in the lifestyle or did it come before the summary it came in the middle well not really in the middle it's closer to the beginning of being in the lifestyle okay interesting i hope it has to do with the lifestyle because that would be an interesting story i sometimes like to show the good the bad and the ugly you know i mean because it's not always like smooth sailing you know and i don't know but you're going to tell me your story okay so listen james like as of now

How long have you and your wife been married? We've been married for 12 years. Okay, cool. And now, are you still currently in the lifestyle together? We are, but we haven't really done anything in a little while now. Okay. We'll work up to that, but I just wanted to know. So you've been together 12 years.

Now, at what point and why did you decide to open up your marriage? Well, so when I met my wife, you know, we were always very sexual people. And we always said since the beginning that, you know, her freak match of my freak and vice versa. And so we were pretty open with each other about, you know, sexual fantasies and all of that. And it just so happily happened actually on our honeymoon. Oh, so that's early on. Okay. So who raises their hand on the honeymoon and says, hey, let's, I would love to swing one day.

Yeah, they were both very attractive. And I'm not sure how old they were, but I would say they were probably somewhere similar in our age group. Okay, so they were a young couple too? Yes. Okay, so you had no rules or boundaries or anything because you're just like doing this on the fly. And you wind up full fucking swapping. Yep. Yep.

That's how it went. It was a blast and we had a really good time. And then after the session was over, a couple, you know, actually changed numbers with us in, I guess hopes to meet up with us again to where they actually contacted us the next day. And that actually struck out our first fight together that we had ever had as a couple over this situation. Why? What happened? Well, you know, I want to say when I was back then at that age, I was, I don't know, I was always into a party. I never wanted the party to stop type of deal. I was that way, yeah. And so when they had exchanged numbers, you know, I had asked them to contact my wife. And the girl actually contacted me the next day, about midday, to access to come to a different swingers club with them that night. And, you know, I went and I shouldn't even have gave them my number.

It was the first mistake that I made that I had to own. own up to and you know should have just left it fully up to my wife and left myself out of it because she wasn't comfortable with that yeah let me ask you this when the numbers were exchanged did you exchange the number right in front of your wife or did you exchange the number on the deal it was a little bit on the deal and why you do that because because i didn't want the party to stop you know i thought we could have more fun out of it and we didn't really get to fully explore you know our feelings about the whole thing being our first experience uh you know we didn't really talk about it too much. But like, I'm sorry, like, that's the shit you just do when you're, That's the fun about being in your 20s. You don't think too much.

You know what I mean? You'd probably never do any of that shit now. You wouldn't do it on the DL. So I think, you know, most people are smarter than that. You were like a 22-year-old guy, okay? Like living it up in Vegas. You know, I don't know. I'd give you a free pass.

But your wife didn't, obviously. I mean, if I was your wife and I'm on the honeymoon and you did that on the deal, I'd be fucking pissed, of course, right? There's going to be drama because of it. And so did you go and say, hey, the couple texted me and they want to meet us. that let me meet up with us like let's go yeah we were actually at a crops table when they they called and so i had to step away from the table to take the call and i came came back uh she asked me who that was and you know i told her and that's kind of when she started getting a little ticked off to say the

least and we ended up getting into a big fight for the whole rest of the day and pretty much the rest of the trip we didn't work it out until about a week later yeah we were actually at a crops table when they called and so I had to step away from the table and take the call and I came came back. yeah did you put it on hold at that point yeah yeah we did we didn't talk about anything like that for i want to say probably about two years you know at that point when we got back from bagas my wife was a stay-at-home mom and i work a busy job in construction so i didn't wasn't around a lot I was gone for mostly about 12 hours a day every day. So then about two years later, I remember we were sitting in bed and we were just getting ready to watch some TV. And she had just found a job, I'd say about a week and a half, two weeks prior to that back in the mortgage business. And she was sitting there doing some emails. And then she started chuckling.

And I was like, I was like, what are you laughing at? You know, where you're doing work emails? And then that's when she told me that she had met this guy when she was out getting lunch. And they didn't exchange numbers, but they exchanged emails. And this guy was basically sending her, you know, sexy messages through email for, you know, about a week now. And so we got to sit down and talking about that. And that's when the idea of an open marriage kind of got proposed, I want to say, by her. Oh, okay, but wait a second.

Were you pissed that she was doing this behind your back? Yes, I was definitely a little upset. I wouldn't say I was mad, but I was definitely upset, you know, because we had worked everything back out and, you know, we were back to 100% happy and then this happened. But then, you know, after 24 hours, that got me thinking, I was like, well, you know, I made a mistake and maybe she made a mistake too. But when that conversation happened, we got to talking about it and that's when she proposed. was the idea of having an open marriage. Because she was like obviously wanting to hook up with this guy.

So what did you say? How did that conversation go? Well, so we went and I was like, well, if that's what you really want to try, let's try it. I'm not going to knock it until, you know, we try it and explore it and see what happens. Okay, cool. So that went on. She was messaging back and forth with him and nothing came of that at all. She never went and hooked up with them.

There was no, you know, meetings that we discussed during him like that. It wasn't until about two or three months later when she went and met a client that she was running his account for a commercial account. And we went and she told me that, you know, the guy's really hot and I want to go, you know, hook up with him. Is that okay with you? So I was like, yeah, I was like, go ahead and plan it out. So she had made a date to make that happen. I remember staying home with the kid while she left to go do it. And I remember feeling nervous as hell.

I remember having butterflies in my stomach and being like, man, why the hell did I just let her go? And now, were there any, was there any rules or regulation or conversation like a little bit more this time or no? Yeah, there was. So basically the rules and regulations were just as simple as that, you know, we'd talk about it prior. And then we would, you know, go and make sure to sit down, you know, immediately after and talk about it. so that way we could stay you know clear and open with each other but was there no kissing

i know i know it was it was absolutely crazy and i remember when remember when she came back We still, we didn't have any crazy rules about, you know, kissing or anything like that. Okay. So I remember when she came back and we sat and talked about it and, you know, I still remember feeling, you know, slightly upset that, you know, I let her go do it. And then, you know, as she started telling me all the dirty details about it, it was kind of a turn on in a way for the first time.

It was something new and different. And, you know, I didn't really know 100% how to gather my feelings fully about it. But I do remember being turned on by it. Okay. And was she turned on by telling you about it? Did she have a good experience? Like what went down? What did she tell you?

Basically, she went to his office is where she went. Oh my God. His office. And, you know, it was at 5 o'clock. And everybody left and he's the boss there. I just knew I wasn't, you know, fully comfortable. comfortable with it. But then as time went on, you know, I grew to, you know, kind of accept it a little bit. And that's when, you know, she hadn't done anything else, you know, since that day. And she wasn't going there and just hooking up with people, but she was like going on dates with these different people. In person behind your back? Yeah, yep. And, you know, nowadays I get it to an extent because, like I said, I was gone all day, every day.

When I came home, I didn't want to hang out. I didn't want to talk. I wanted to go to sleep, put my kid to bed, and that was it. And so, you know, I kind of disconnected from the relationship there to almost initiate this. And, you know, I see that nowadays. But back then, yeah, I was furious when I found out. The day I found out, I was, I remember because I kind of like started getting that feeling that something was up, something wasn't right. and so, you know, I had grabbed her phone one day, and that's where I found these messages about

somebody that she just went and met at, like, a bar for, like, a Dayton drinks. Mm-hmm. And so we gotten a huge argument over that, and that led to us actually separating for an entire year that we had to wait for in our state because we were planning on actually divorcing. Well, and I get it. I mean, like, there's a lot of betrayal, like, there's a lot of lying going on here, especially on her part, I don't know, because, like, don't you. you start to like not trust her after a while yeah for sure for sure but again nowadays i looking back

at it it's like you know i made my mistakes too you know i wasn't always perfect and you know nobody is and you know again i think that really leads back to communication if i knew she was feeling that type of way i could have certainly tried to put more effort into my relationship again yeah she would have told you instead of going behind your back exactly so it's like you don't fault on her for doing that, but at the same time, I don't, you know, overall hold that against her at all. You know, I... Listen, we're still talking about people in their fucking 20s, right? Yeah.

Yep. You know, this is like, you know, drama. That's like 20-year-old stuff anyway, you know. Exactly. Do you guys grow up and then start going into the lifestyle again when you're more mature? Yeah. So we certainly did. So after that year, we work things out with one another.

And so instead of getting divorced, we moved back in with each other. Okay. And so after that happened, I want to say it was maybe about three months later, we were back out in Vegas again for a, I was out there for a work event. So I brought her out there with me and we decided that we were going to go to a completely different Slingers Club that we've never been to. We're just going to go there.

So I remember going into this place and we showed up not knowing what to expect. And of course, it was like one of those places they don't even have a bar there. have a bar that hold your own beer or liquor. And we didn't bring anything with us. And it's like out in the middle of nowhere, Las Vegas, like out in the foothills. Right. And so we were like, oh, damn, the lady behind me, a bar was like, hey, somebody left this here last night.

She was like, you guys can drink these. And we were like awesome. So we started drinking these like canned drinks of shelter or whatever they were, hard silter. And we were walking around for a bit, hanging out. And we didn't really see anybody that we were interested in. Okay.

Was it a guy she found online or who was the other guy? No, it was just another guy that she met. She gets compliments all the time anywhere she goes. She's super pretty, you know, and she's super outgoing. So it's very easy to strike up a conversation with her. Right. So she, you know, we can go to the mall, walking through the mall. So we actually have our honey, I mean, our anniversary coming up in December. So, you know, we're kind of hoping that we can make some time in a few days that we're away. Okay. But like, so how do you go from being like, I mean, did you have like another kid or something. It just seems like weird that it just dropped off out of nowhere and then completely stopped. Like it and nothing changed.

I mean, you had kids while that was going on because he said, oh, the kid, blah, blah, blah. So like you had kids at that time. Like why all of a sudden, did she stop being horny? Did like, you know what I mean? Yeah, a little bit. Did you guys stop talking about it? Like both of you were just like okay to let it fall by the side? No, we didn't really really stop talking about it.

But to talk about it definitely. slowed down. We definitely, you know, her sex drive definitely dipped, I want to say, you know, quite a bit. And, you know, that was one of the other things. You know, I've been listening to some of your other episodes that talk about metapause and all that and perimenetopause. So, you know, her mom went through metapause very young. And your episode actually helped me out a whole bunch because I, you know, I really do think that she is experiencing some form of like perimenopause. And because she's around that age now of where her mom, you know, went through metapause.

And that's definitely helped the whole bunch, you know, talking to her about that and what I learned from your episode. And we are certainly going to go to the doctor soon and actually take a look at things and see where her hormone counts are and try to see if that's actually what's occurring here. That or if it's, you know, just high stress levels that are depleting it. But we won't know, obviously, until we go to the doctor. But a lot of the things that you mentioned in that, you know, you and your guest mentioned an app. So, you know, made a lot of sense there. You know, I see those, you know, similar symptoms occurring. And that's how I was able to bring it up to her and bring it up nicely to the point where it wasn't like, oh, you know, getting overly into, you know, your hormones here and, you know, making you feel uncomfortable. Right. Mm-hmm. Okay. Let me ask you this. Like when you talk about things, do you still talk about it? Do you think about doing stuff in the future? Is there anything she wants to do? Is she not interested in anymore?

Is it just the busyness? No, no. We're definitely, if she's still interested in it, I still am, and we still do talk about it, you know, when we can. And mostly during sexes when we get to talk about it, because that's when we get to connect to the deepest. And, yeah, we definitely have a bunch of things on the bucket list that we still want to do. You know, we still would love to set up a gang bang.

That's always been a fantasy of hers, and I think it's super hot to go and have that. So we're definitely looking into possibly doing something like that in the future. And, you know, there's, really, we're just kind of like fly by the seat type people. You know, I used to try to confide some of my friends that I knew were kind of behind closed-door freaks when it came to the bedroom and, you know, we're open with trying new things. And, you know, so I talked to them about it. And, you know, it just, it was always crazy because they had such a different outlook on it. And a lot of it fell to, like, jealousy and some of them even felt like guilty that they would let their significant other go do something with, without

them or to even do it with them sometimes. They just, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, and then feel right about it. But how about you? I think I am super comfortable myself nowadays. I really do. But in the beginning when you didn't, you still allowed it. Like it was hard. It was hard to follow because like you were, you would say that you had problems like

later, but in the moment it didn't sound like you did. But you always were slightly uncomfortable about it in the beginning. Was it jealousy? Like what was that uncomfortableness that you had? Oh, yeah. It was definitely jealousy. It was 100% jealousy without a doubt. I think that was my biggest hurdle to get over the jealousy.

And, you know, kind of how I got past that was that it's more of a turn-on than it is like a worrying because I knew she was always going to come back home to me, that she deeply loves me, and that I didn't really have to worry about losing herself, like losing her to anybody else, because that's not what she was looking for. But at first, I didn't understand that, you know, even though she said that to me, I wasn't taking it as full acceptance. I was like, oh, man, what if she falls in love with somebody else? You know, that can easily happen.

You catch feelings real quick for somebody else, especially if you see that person multiple times. Yeah. And, I mean, she was texting with that one guy for months now, or weeks. Yeah. Yeah, for weeks without me even knowing. And that definitely played a part into me not being able to overcome my jealousy for the situation as well. All of it contributed.

But, you know, with time, I grew and became a bigger person and said, hey, well, I like this way more than having to worry about it. So let me just stop worrying. And that's what I did. Mm-hmm. Okay. Let me ask you this. Last question. And then we'll wrap it up.

Yeah. Did you ever want to do, like, anything? Because you had a couple swap in the beginning. And she had a blowbang at the swingers club. But, like, have you been with any other women? And do you have any interest in doing more couple swapping and you getting more in on the action. But she also has that jealousy factor going on that she to date still has not fully overcome. She talks about wanting me to see me with another woman. She talks about wanting to have, you know, a female, female, male threesome, you know, and do, you know, all these other things with. women but she just hasn't overcome that jealousy factor to you know allow that so I kind of after a

little bit of time I realized that when I got over my jealousy I realized that oh she's still she has the jealousy still and she hasn't gotten over it at all and so I kind of stopped pushing on that whole situation to make those things happen because you know I remember how it made me feel and I kind had to overcome it on my own. So I didn't want to keep pushing to make her overcome that jealousy factor when she's not ready for it. And maybe one day she will be. Maybe one day she won't. And if she's not, I'm content and fine and happy.

I'm not going to, you know, be upset about that at all. But if it does happen, fantastic. I think it will be a lot of fun. How is your sex life without the open stuff, you know? It's pretty good. We definitely have our ups and down. as of late where, you know, we're not having as much sex, I want to say. It's really been, like, kind of drawn down to maybe like once a month type of deal.

And, you know, I know there's contributing factors outside of her possibly having, you know, perimenopause. But I think that, you know, at the same time, when we do have sex, it's fantastic. It's great. You know, I still think it's the best sex in my life. I thoroughly enjoy it. I enjoy being with her. Enjoy everything about her body.

And, you know, it's very good. I do wish we had sex more often because before that, you know, we were having sex. I want to say like, you know, like a year ago, we were having sex, I don't know, three, four, five times a week. Right. How old is she? She is now, she is 37 now. Okay. Mm-hmm. So I think that, you know, it could be the possibility.

But like I said, we won't know until we go to the doctor. And I'm hoping we can get back to that, you know, sex life that we had doing three, four, five times a week. because I am a very sexual person myself and I really do enjoy having sex. Right. Did she, though, does she miss it ever? Does she ever talk about that? Yeah, yeah, she does. It's not often that she talks about it, but she, yeah, she definitely does. She misses it and, you know, misses that connection. And she knows that that connection is like slipping just a little bit by only having sex once a month. Because it's a big change from going three, four, five times a week to just one. once a month, that's a, you know, a drastic difference. You know, in that connection you get to

have. And it's almost too, not even just about, like, having sex, but, you know, when we have sex, it's like a distraction from life. We don't have to worry about jobs. You don't have to worry about kids. We get to just be with each other and enjoy each other. And she definitely misses that for sure. And we're trying to work our way back to it, whatever that route may be. really what I wanted to ask, and that's okay that you answered that, but was that, does she miss the lifestyle? Does she miss playing around? Or is she just because she's not really that horny? She doesn't really care.

I think probably 50-50 on that. She definitely misses it a bit because, you know, like I said, we do talk about it when we have sex. And, you know, it's a super big turn on to her. And, you know, I can see her eyes light up when we talk about it. So I definitely know she misses it. But at the same time, I just don't. think her sex drive is fully there to go and support being in that lifestyle kind of like, you know, we were before.

So I think we just got to figure out how to fix that. And then once we do that, then, yeah, I'm sure we'll be back in the lifestyle and having, you know, all these different experiences again. Right. Okay. Well, listen, she should, you know, listen, her doctor will definitely be able to know by her hormone status when they check it where she's at. And there's always hormones and things that she could do to get her.

Some women go through it at 57, 58, they're still getting their period. And some women lose it at, you know, 40. But most women, like the average age, I think is 51, but that doesn't mean that everyone's going to fall into that time period, you know. And it really is dependent on the mom, your mother. So most likely that's exactly what's going down. And it makes sense. So,

you know, get her to the doctor, figure it out. And once she goes on hormones, you're going to be back to doing it because she was like, that's where she was at before.
