and I don't know necessarily that that's it because there is like a happy ending to you and your wife, right? It's your wife's relationship. But there was a time and that, you did open it up and you guys were seeing people outside of the marriage as well as together and that didn't work out, right? We'll discuss that. Those are the two things that are going to be going on in this story, right? Right. It started out when we got married. Actually, we decided before we got married that we would not be monogamous because we just weren't that. kind of people. And we kept it on the down low and we had friends that would come over. We would go over to friends' houses. We had a neighbor that lived across the hall in an apartment building. We would either go and visit her together or take turns. But wait, are these friends in quotes, like friends, like quotes and like the go over visit in quotes? Like are these people you're banging?

Well, people that we were acquainted with, the lady across the hall worked with my life. So it was just kind of a happy coincidence, but not a close friendship where, you know, they watch my kids. No, but I mean, like, are you telling me that these are people that you were hooking up with? Yes. Okay, yeah, yeah, that's what I meant. Like, friends, like you're like, we had some friends. I don't know, most people when they say we have friends, it doesn't mean they're sleeping with them. that's what I meant quotes.

Like friends. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, yeah. Back then, most of our friends, we were sleeping with those friends. So that's the kind of friends they were. Yeah, that's the kind of friend they were. And a neighbor, and a coworker neighbor. How did you start looking up with her?

Well, they kind of flirted with each other, her co-worker. And then she moved across the hall from us. And things escalated. We had hooked up with her one time before at her apartment. She lived nearby, but did not live across the hall. Once she lived across the hall, it was on. We were over there quite frequently. And together and taking turns, because, you know, someone had to watch the kids.

But, you know. How old were you guys, like, in your horny 20s at that time? She was in her 20s. I was probably 30. and I'm a little bit older than her. But she was down for everything and pretty much still is. There's only a few things that I have tried to get her to do that she will not do. I mean, let me back up.

People would salivate to have her as their girl open and cool and okay with all of this. Why does that person then go and quote unquote cheat? I've heard it before. You're not the first one. But I like, you know, I would like an ex. People want to know why. greed, selfishness. I want my way and I want to control what you do, but I want to do whatever I want to do. So there's something about, but let me ask you this, is it, is it because there's

something about her not knowing? Because listen, you could still, you could do what you wanted to do. You could be selfish. She was allowing you to. So it still doesn't make sense in that. It was it that her not knowing got you off? Her not knowing and the fact that I was, going to have to talk to her about it beforehand. The arrangement, if she wasn't comfortable with it, you know, we had the mutual veto power.

If I'm not comfortable, I can cut you off. If you're not comfortable, you can cut me off. Well, it's a binary decision. You say yes, but you might say no.

Yeah. Yeah. And you're like, wow, yeah, it is kind of selfish because you're like, what a fucking asshole. You know,

here, this guy, like, what a fucking ass. Yeah. That's what you would, that's the best description. Right. For a very, for a long time. Well, we all are

when we're young, I think. We're just, you know what I mean? It's, we, we work that stuff out. But yeah, like, and how did she find out? Oh, I was the worst. I mean, I was the worst. It's almost like I subconsciously told on myself, sabotage, you know,

I believe that. Yeah. You know, when you don't, you have unaccounted for time. Yeah. But, you know, you tell a lie and then later you tell a different why. It's not the same as the first why. She's sharp. She is very meticulous with details as are most women.

We know it when it's happening. Yeah. And she nailed me. And it pissed me off that I couldn't get. way with it. And then years went by where we were just existing together because there was so much distrust. And at times it looked like we probably were just going to split up. But I'm very glad that we didn't because we came back around older in life, a little wiser, a little more giving and I can be honest now I was a fucking asshole back then yeah I love that you could own it

and I feel so much better uh yeah I don't know if this is a male thing you're just kind of angry you have all this aggression it's pin up and you know and that's why you want to go to hook up and take it out on someone that means nothing to you yeah and then leave no responsibility nothing. It's completely juvenile. And now I was ready to be the man that she wanted to be with in the beginning. And I tell her I regret not being this way the whole time, but thank you for staying until

So yeah, we work together and she walked past me, going to her department one day, and I just had to talk to her. Okay. Before the divorce was final, she got pregnant. Okay, so your wife walks into this public place and there you are like just blatantly in front of everybody in her hometown so everyone could see. You're with another effing girl. She must have flipped. She did.

She did. Yeah. So that was ugly and traumatic for a little while especially for my now current wife because she was 19 at the time. And how old were you? I'm seven years.

I'm seven years older. Okay, so you're 26, right. Okay, cool. Yeah. And so I was afraid that she would say, I'm not down for this. This is too much. Right. But she stuck in there, and then once she was pregnant, she really felt like she was obligated to go forward, I guess.

We're together, and it's been third. years, so it's not just because of the kids or anything like that. But it was ugly. And we, but her, her sex drive and my sex drive, we were just doing it all the time. So there's, there's been other children after that too. And we finally put a stop to that and no more kids. But, and then, you know, I think you're right. That's about the time that my dissatisfaction, you know, I'm just here to make a paycheck.

Nobody talks to me. Nobody, you know, I'm passing through here on my way to work, pretty much. And, you know, being a big baby. Yeah, but listen. A man and child. Yeah, but a lot of guys, I think that is a valid thing. Like, listen, just like women shouldn't feel bad about having feelings, even if it's, there's, whatever. You shouldn't feel bad about that.

I think that that's a very natural thing that happens. And it does happen to a lot of guys. Like, here you are the man of the house, right? Your, her guy, you know, and then in comes babies. And you don't get that attention. And it could be, I think that that could be really hard for somebody. I'm not a man, but I could imagine. Yeah.

You pretty much get the stiff arm out of the way, kid, you know, that's all that matters. And I admire that. Of course. And you want your wife to be that way, right? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. If she imagines the possibility of anything hurting one of her kids, I'll have to stop her from doing what she's going to do next. Yeah.

But that's just how she is. That's how moms are. But I was, you know, even though I was older, I was not as mature. You weren't that old. I mean, looking back now when you think, oh, my God, you know, you feel old at the time. But how old are you? 26, 27, 28. I still think that that's super young.

You're not fully formed yet. That's all I'm saying. You know, to like totally judge yourself by your actions. That's very true. I was not, not finished growing up. No. And living a more responsible life. But she had the sex drive.

Back to what you were saying. She had the sex drive like a guy. And we, even before the, the, the big reveal that I was having an affair with someone that I worked with, yeah, uh, we had decided that monogamy was not for us and because she likes girls. Mm-hmm.

And I like girls too. So, you know, like most, most guys, I think they go into it in the beginning, or at least I did in the beginning. This is how I'm going to get some extra on the side. Yeah. But it, but with her, she actually had a, a straight-up girlfriend, girlfriend that never had been with a guy. And I took that as a challenge, and I eventually got her girlfriend. And later she admitted, I wanted to have her just for myself.

I didn't want you to get with her too. But I convinced this person to be in a relationship with all three of us. And as soon as she consummated that relationship with me, my wife did not want her anymore. She wanted her just for herself. Oh, interesting. Yeah, the relationship to women, apparently, I will never know, is very different than a male-female. And so we've had lots of people come in and out of her lives.

There was a guy that I worked with. I called him up and said, hey, why don't you come over and help me, fuck my wife. And he's like, you're shitting me. I said, no. Imagine that call. Yeah. And he came over in record time, of course. And my wife said, I can't believe you did that.

I can't believe you did that. I said, you told me yes. So she goes and lays on the bed and pretends on she's asleep. I was like, oh, yeah. Well, that's not going to stop him. And they spread her legs and he went at it. And this guy, you know, I didn't know until he took his pants off. he was huge.

Right. So that led to a long, not career, but a span of hookups with my friend coming over and the two of us doing the guy, guy, girl, DP, everything. One time all three of us came at the same time. It was great. And there was no jealousy. I was not worried about him saying or doing anything stupid because he was

You know, most people would think, you know, if I had to bet money, right, you're going to be like, I'm not

betting that this is going to last, you know, I'm going to throw it down on this ends, you know. There are people that talk to my wife and say, are you two still married? And they're surprised. Because it was clear from the outside. We were not happy. Right. It was very forced in any kind of public gathering. Yeah, we all know those couples. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we know those couples. They're not happy. And now that things have changed, when things started changing and whatever my anger was about went away, she said, now that you're, I've got you fixed just right, you probably have a brain tumor or something wrong with you. That's why you changed. She said, there's probably something wrong with you because it's been a very dramatic change. Yeah.

But it has. But the sex came back. the passion, the lust, all of that return. Mm-hmm. And new things, like you just treat her better. Like you said, you know, right? I mean, just, you know, so I'm sure now it must be so crazy

for those people that used to see you at, you know, parties and stuff just not connected. They could really probably see the change. They can see the change because, also we go travel places, go do things, things we never did before. Right. You would have to take me, you know, kicking and screaming to go on a family vacation. Oh, interesting.

Now, and so to your point, there's no kids. That might be the difference. Yeah. You really couldn't get past that no attention to you. Yes, everything, you know, when you have a, a couple of little girls, everything's about them. And it was for a long time. Yeah.

Very long time. And I just want to be clear, they did get my attention. I was not angry at them. Of course, right. I just were happy with our situation. I did all, when she was at work, I did the babysitting and people were shocked. Yeah, yeah. Who's watching your kids?

My husband. Yeah. Their father. They're his kids too. Yeah. So. Yeah, I was with a friend last. and she was saying something because, you know, when you get older and you're dating people,

everyone has baggage with kids. And she's like, oh, my guy, he's seeing his girl. And she's like, already 16 and he has to see her for three. So I'm like, she's like, and she's already an adult. She's 16. I'm like, she's not an adult at 16. Most people, there's, you know, kids are not out. So like 18 out of the house. I mean, it's a long time you're a parent and that is your first priority. Sorry. It's the way that it is. Very, very true. Although we all know those people that really treat their kids as, you know, a piece of furniture. They don't care.

Right, but right. Exactly. I'd have to say, I'm not glad that that was an asshole for that 17-year period, but I'm glad that she was a good mother. And you were a good father. You don't have to forgive yourself for that because that would be a lot harder to wrap your head around if you did change and come out of and think like, oh, my God, like, I treated, how did I treat my kids, you know?

but you did it and you were a good dad which is great you didn't take it out on them no I did not and at the same time I'm probably better to them now because they play me I bought more tires this week than I ever had in my life but I don't want them to be

on bad tires yeah yeah yeah that's cute but let's go to that dramatic change like I know that you brought up oh there was like some deaths like and stuff like that. Is that what you think attributed to that big change in you?

The passing of parents, family members, and the kids are now on their own. Yeah. They have their own jobs. They have their own lives. It was just the two of us. And one of my parents died last year. And that was it. My parents are gone.

and it was a taking effect over the last couple of years. And then when my mother died, that was very hard, harder than I thought it was going to be. Interesting, yeah. It's kind of like a asshole thing to say. Of course, it's hard. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't want to live my life angry. And I live my life less alone, isolated.

I'd rather be with this person that stuck with me when she should have run away probably on more than one occasion. Yeah. And that's a gift. It's like my eyes were open. I could see things clearly. I told her one time it's like going from black and white to color. Yeah, I totally understand. See and feel and empathize with people more so.

Yeah, that's a big change because I know that. I quit drinking, you know, like, six. 17 years ago, and I always explain, like, quitting drinking and how much it changed me to be like, it was like, it's like going from being in a pitch black room to turning the fucking lights on. Like, that's like the difference. So for you to extrate, like, I could only imagine then that, that must have been, that's how deep the change was. It's like similar to the change I went through through doing that. I mean, that is, that's major.

That's like, you went through a major transformation. It took her a long time to really, like, is this real? Yeah. Because she's no sucker. She wanted to make sure that this is real. And it took a long time. And my God, the way she looks at me and smiles at me now, it's worth it. I mean, at one time, if a woman approached me and propositioned me, I would have done it.

I know I would have done it. But now I'm absolutely confident. I'm not going to do anything that's going to. to cause problems with my wife. Now, we make who fuck some people together. Yeah. But I'm not going to fuck up by myself. And for what?

I can get this with her. Right. It doesn't make sense when you're looking back. No, it doesn't. Like I said in the beginning, like why does that person? Because I've heard it before. You're not the first one that has done that. You know, why does that person that has the total okay go out and then cheat?

And, you know, I was glad that you could kind of put into words and be self-awareness. You know, let people know where that comes from. And you were very honest. Pure selfishness. Yeah. Yes, it's a selfish. The feeling of, ooh, I got away with something. And really, I didn't have to get away with anything.

And all I did was set myself up for trouble. But I think it also was, and maybe you're not putting this in the story. And it needs to be that. there was a little dissatisfaction of what was going between them because you were feeling, you know, hurt by the fact that you weren't getting the attention anymore because of the kids. You know, so that was a part of it too. Not that it's right, you know, but that also comes into play.

It definitely was a factor because she was that kind of mom. Everything at school, clothes, hair, perfect. If they, if the other kids had it, they were going to have it too. So she put, put their first. That's the whole generation. All those parents, every kid had got everything they fucking wanted. Yep. Yeah.

Well. The tough thing about that is as a man, and I think you pointed this out before, it's like a double-edged sword, because on one sense, like, would you respect her as a mother if she didn't fucking care about her children? She was tending to you all the time and you were still like the end-all-be-all. You don't know. You want her to be a great mom, but then you're like, fuck, what about me? So it is a place.

Yeah, don't forget about me. Yeah. You know, you want that balance as a man, but it's hard for the woman to have a balance. Because as a woman who had a child, and I was a single mom, I can't tell you how many times in the first couple of years. Like, I would go to my bedroom and I was like, thank fucking God. I do not have to blow someone or talk to somebody at this. point, I felt so happy because your brain is effing fried at the end of the day when you have kids as a woman.

So you get, you know, you understand everybody in this situation. You understand the woman who can't tend to her guy. I understand that most women don't and it falls a way. But you also have to understand that how is that guy feeling? He doesn't feel fucking good. And, you know, he's upset and it's not working for him. You understand that person in that situation too. Everyone has needs.

Yeah. And no one's needs are going to be met at all times. Yes. It's going to be some give and take. But as a mother, as you just described, you don't need another kid that weighs 200 pounds. Yeah. Humping on your leg, you know. And the kids needs, like you just said, not everyone's needs to be met.

Your needs don't need to be met, but the kids' needs do. You know, that's what it is life and death when you have children. Like you have to, those kids have needs that have to be met. And as a mother, like your instinct is to feed them, clothe them, bathe them, you know, all that kind of stuff. And so of course you're going to be like, oh, he could fucking do it for himself. But therein lies a big problem, I think. I think it's very common that that situation happens.

There are so many guys listening to this episode like, oh, yeah, that's me right now. I think what's so interesting about your story is that you're here to say, and I love your story, because it's real life, you know, I think sometimes it's not a fucking movie. This is real life. It didn't happen overnight. You didn't click like out of being that selfish asshole over it. It took 17 years, but you're a different person. Your relationship changed and you're here to say that it, you can be that couple that has

lost everything and lost their whole connection to each other, could find their, their way back. As long as both parties are willing, it's possible. Because she's been waiting for me to stop being a jerk for a very long time. And of course, she gave up on it a long time ago.

That's never going to happen. So that's why she was a little bit wary of, is this for real? And how about you for trusting her? Because she did throw in your face that she had cheated on you at a certain point too. Like how, did you feel like it took you some time to trust her as well? Absolutely. Absolutely.

That's true. You know, guys want to have their way. They want to have their cake and eat it too. Oh, yeah. So you just have to suck it up. You have to humble yourself and be realistic. This is a person. This is not my problem.

property and they have feelings too. And the more you give to them, the more you get back. It was always the case, but something about being sneaky is seductive. And a lot of guys do it. And they lose really good women because they didn't have to be that way. And that was my story. It didn't have to be that way. I'm glad that I'm able to bring this story that shows full circle.

Well, it's coming. Like it or not, it's coming. So what are you going to do? keep doing the same stupid shit you've been doing, you're going to keep getting the same stupid shit you got. And so I've tried to, as best I can,

to straighten myself up and be a better person, a better partner. She loves that word, partner. Yeah. My husband-wife, but partner. But, you know, we've been together almost 30 years, and a lot of her has rubbed off on me finally. And some of some things about me erupt off on her.

You, you're either growing together or you're growing apart. Totally. Finally growing together. Yeah. But it's, it's all out there. It's possible. It's absolutely possible if you make your mind up. Yeah, I love it.

I really believe, and I say this all the time, like I don't care how old you are. As long as you're alive, I mean, to me, life is about sort of, like, we're born, and then we're given a lot of fucking issues. and we need to like resolve them. Like that's what life is. It's work, you know? Get to work on yourself. Work on your fucking self and become a better person.

And as long as you're alive, that's what you're here to do. So, you know, and listen, you changed at whatever age you did, but that's like amazing. That's what life is about. And like I said, I don't care if you're 80 or 18, you know, it's possible to completely change and grow as a person. and I love that. That's what I love about life. I've seen it happen to me a million times.

Like I said, I had that life changing moments in my life. I love to see them in other people's lives. I love watching biographies because I think if you typically watch someone throughout their whole life, you're going to see different places and different parts and you're going to see people totally change. And that's real life.

You know, sometimes people are only looking at someone in like the chapter where they're at right now. And if they're like doing really great, people get jealous. So they're like, oh, that person has it all or why is it my life that way? It's like life is never going to be one way. And it shouldn't be. And there's no top of the mountain that you stay at. And I do believe that you could always grow and change.

And that's what you always need to take out of like really horrific situations. And I love that you came out of like a really hard time, really taking the lesson out of it. Life is fucking short. You're just going to die. Like it's really going to happen. Okay. I don't think people get that. always got that. So I've always like live

fucking life. I love being alive. I have fucking fun. But a lot of people do not get that. You are just going to die one day. And it could be tomorrow and it could be whenever. It's going to happen. Yeah. It could be today. And then what?

Right. Live life. Go on those vacations. You better. We are doing everything that mostly she wanted to do that I did not want to do. And now I enjoy it. tremendously. I have more options. I see things that didn't interest me are fascinating. Yeah. Art museums, things like that. So it's, it is possible. It's, it's, it's changing my life.

You're like you're like, you're just said that like you wouldn't even know you're interested in. That's like super important for people to hear because you just, maybe there are these things that you can enrich your life. with that you never knew that you're like saying no to. But if you do open yourself up and change, like these things could happen and you never know what the next chapter is going to be. But that's absolutely true because look at me. Yes, I love it. I'm obsessed with your story, Mark. I love it.

It has so much to it. There's the SEX that my callers love, but there's just so, I just think people, you are going to love this because I think everything that you and your wife went through besides the fact that people are going to be very jealous of like all the openness in your relationship that I don't think that's common but what's super common is that whole other thing that you were going through with the kids and the cheating and the dissatisfaction and the growing apart and I love that you are you were self-aware enough to know where that all came from talk about how you got through it how it changed your life as well as your relationship

and now you're still living your best sex life too, as well as regular life. So it's just such a great effing story. I'm getting a do-over. Yeah. And it's not even a do-over. You're still alive. Like, that's what people don't get.

Like, you don't, it's not it. This is it. You're, you know, you're doing it. This is the only do-over. Yeah. The only do-over you will get is the one you make for yourself. Yeah, exactly. It's not doing it.

It's the next chapter. It's like where you're at now. You can change your whole life. And that's what life's about, I just think. And like I said, I love your story because it's got so many layers to it. And this is the kind of stuff I live for on my show. And I think it's actually going to help people. Yeah, I really do.

I think so many guys are going to be listening and are going to really be able to relate to that 17-year place you were in. Yeah. It's not the end. Yeah. It doesn't have to be. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Love it.
