Yes, congratulations. Everybody needs to run out and get it. But we're going to dive into that today. And I actually kind of thought, I don't know if all of your listeners or how many of your listeners actually know your backstory, the whole origin of how your podcast came to be, because it's really interesting. I mean, it goes back to Craigslist. Like, let's just jump into that for a second because I I just love how that all evolved. Yeah, well, this is, and I just wanted to say that my book is, could I just explain what my book is about a little bit?

Absolutely. So it is like 17 stories taken from my show written in the third person. And what I did was I chose like 17 different topics that I talk about on my show. Like they're not all about hot wiping. I could have done a book just on hot wiping, a book just on cheating. You know what I mean? But like I couldn't do that. Yes.

I wanted to make a mix. It just represent what we're going to talk about here, bigger picture, right? Which is my show to sort of like show what I'm doing on my show in this one book and get it out there. Because I think what I'm doing on my show for the past 11, 12 years now is important. And I love that this information now is getting out there in a different way. You know, what's interesting about the book I think is that these are real stories, right? And these stories are kind of crazy, right?

Just like the stories on my show, the stories on your show right? So, you know, a lot of people don't believe that this is like true stuff. Like I have a girl that like has been in over 50 gangbangs and there's a lot of gangbbing facts because that's the kind of stuff that I'm interested in learning about as a vanilla person. You know, I'm pretty vanilla. So I know what, you know, interests people. And so it's like to me, it's like super fun that this stuff is getting out there. And I purposely chose one of like each category.

Like there's a cuckled. There's a hot life story. Right. This is going to be the case. Yes. You know, this is going to be the kind of book, by the way, that I don't. know if you ever stumbled on any of your parents like erotica or spicy books when you were a kid. I did. I did. And let me tell you, I still remember like the favorite stories that I would like read and sneak and read out of there.

I'm betting how many kids. How many parents? Oh my God. Don't talk about me about that. I, what I think about how many kids are going to like read this? I wonder what their favorite stories. No, no, no, no. I don't want any kids reading my book. What I want, what I do believe is that a lot of people, you know, not only the same thing that's happening with my show is a lot, a lot of people will be consuming this that you would never know. And the same thing with the people that are living these lives. It's the same thing. Absolutely. It's really like that's what I'm always like.

That's what my show is here to say that these people are not like crazy people or people that you'd ever seen before or whatever. Like all these people in my book or on my show, I've talked to over 1282 people as of today. And this is like a little part of their life. I talked to a woman yesterday who was a polyamorous. She's like, I just want people to know, you know, that I'm not doing this all the time. Like this is, I'm like, yeah, that's everybody.

Everybody that's doing kinky sex, open-minded shit, whatever. Everybody has a real life. And this is just what they're doing behind closed doors. And that's the book. That's just normal people living there, you know, what you think are normal lives. And then when you look behind closed doors, there's a lot of really fun stuff going on. But let's start with your origin on. this podcast because like you said it's been what 11 12 years however long it's been you've interviewed two thousand people i mean there's a lot to it but let's go back to the very beginning how did you start it is kind of funny because it is like one of my favorite stories because it wasn't like intentional right i did it was intentional for me to start a podcast right and this was like back in the day when i started podcast barely anyone was podcasting but a lot of comedians were and i worked in comedy and knew a lot of

comedians one of them named robert kelly he's pretty big he's fucking funny he was a very good friend of mine. I helped him a lot with his career when I worked in entertainment. And he was like, you should start your own podcast. Because I was always the type of person. And Layla probably knows this because I'm like analyzing your life when we talk and everything. Like, and I think most podcasters that do this are the same way. Like I love to dig deep and talk about shit and analyze everything. Me too. I'm very, very, very, very. I love to get in just the details. Yeah. I'm very, very curious. Somebody tells me one thing and I'll ask them a million thousand questions. And I always say, and it's true. Like if you, like what you hear me doing to people on

the show. If you came to a party and I was there, like you, you and you overheard my conversation. And if I'm sitting next to someone, I'm doing the same thing. I love getting people's life story. So I was like, okay, I'm going to do a show. But really what the show was going to be is like a dear Abby call and advice show because like what I love to do was like help my friends with their problems. And like I like to be a therapist without a fucking degree. And I like to shove my opinions on people's and like help and whatever. But I didn't know where to get callers. So I didn't want anyone at that time like Facebook was really big, but I didn't want, like, anyone to know what I was doing, because I was, like, really afraid my show was going to suck. I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I was just

winging it, but I didn't, I didn't want anyone to know because I was afraid that it wasn't going to be good. So I was like, where can I get call us from? Because I need people to call into the show. And, like, honestly, I tried to, when I tried to go and put the ad, like, you know, podcasts, looking for calling guests to talk about relationship, sex, money, problems, anything. You know, I was like, very open with the show. Like I said, it was a call and advice show. just about anything. When I went into the regular section on Craigslist, like you had to pay

for the ads, and I knew I have to put out a lot of ads like all over because I needed, I know if you want 20 people to come to a party, you got to invite 100. So I needed callers every week. I had, you know, and so I went to the only free section,

and the only free section was the personals. And I put that ad in every personal category, including the casual encounter section, Men for men, women for men, couples for people, you know, it was all that kind of crazy stuff. And only because it was free. I was not, like, I didn't set out to have a show about sex and all these crazy stories. And I got to tell you, and it's very true, the first five episodes of this podcast, number one through five, or the first five people that emailed me and I taped them all in one day.

True story. My fucking, I had a co-host in the beginning. And he was so mad at me that I booked five people when we had to talk for five hours. but honestly, I could have talked for five more. I was so into it. I had the best stories that I got from Craigslist that I was like, oh my God, these are like the craziest fucking stories.

And at that time, like this is like gold. Yeah. At that time, Leila, I had not, I didn't even have the name of the show or anything. Like my friend was a very,

like, my friend Robert really like taught me how to do a show. He told me a lot of really great pieces of advice in the beginning. And he was like, just start taping people. You'll figure out the name later. Get like a bunch of episodes before you really put it out there.

And that's what I did. And then after I got those five calls and I realized like, oh my God, I'm getting these like really interesting stories from Craigslist. Like one guy was like, oh, I'm fucking my best friend's brother's wife and he's the sheriff in town. And one guy could only get off by going down on girls. And I just had these like such incredible conversations with these guys. And that's what my show came about.

And because the guy that was fucking his best friends, fathers, brothers, wives, whatever, that guy, I made him anonymous because he didn't want to be known and then I started changing people's voices and then that's how the whole show came to be then it became like a craigslist thing and let me tell you I worked Craigslist so much for the first couple of years of my show up because I'd have to find guests now I never have to find guests but and then I had to and I would be working the Craigslist app for through the whole United States and I'd be getting banned because you can't post the same things you know what I mean and I was going to ask you that because there's a redundancy thing where they're not allowed okay yeah yeah

And I had all kinds of ways to get around it and I had to work my ass off. I've done that. You have to have a different VPN or like different IP addresses. I wasn't that savvy back then. I figured out like more amateur ways of getting by it. But I was literally putting my ads in every single city in every single place in the United States. And that's what kept my show going in the beginning. And I would, you know, I picked a day and a time and, you know, it was Sunday at 8 p.m. And I never missed a Sunday at 8 p.m. ever in my whole life. And then I just started doing more and more. And then eventually, thank God, when Craigslist went out of business, I had people emailing me. Now, now, right now in my life, like, I never ask anyone to be on my show. Like, every single person that's on my show has

emailed me. Like, hey, this is my life. I want to be on the show. I send them a link. Boom, you're on. You know, that's how it rolls. Because I don't have time to do all that. I do like six episodes a week. I edit everything. I'm a one person show. I have not one person that helps me. So I do everything. So I don't have time anymore. But back then doing one, episode. I worked my ass off just to get guests. But it was all from Craigslist and the show. Title came and stuff and it was just like the best stuff ever. And it all came together kind of accidentally, but it was like it couldn't have been more perfect. And I love it and it's fun. So after having like, I mean, all the stories you've heard. Yeah. I just, I got to know. I mean,

I'm sure everybody wants to be like, what's the one story that just stands out? You'll never forget. It's just made the biggest impression on you for any reason, whatever it is. Oh my God. That's so hard to say there's categories that stand out like the weirdest the craziest I just love all these conversations I mean hot wiping became a thing that I never knew about you know there was a guy on my show right I know me neither yeah there was a guy on my show named John that like was the first one that talked about and he was like loved he was like the most famous guest in the beginning and I eventually I found out like he was like fucking lying and I have to say I do factor fiction episodes nowadays and by far like I would say 98% of the time when someone one's lying about a story. It's a hot wiping story. You know, that's like some... Oh, wait. Why do you think people tend to lie about the hot wiping stories? But to me, his whole life story about being in prison and how. he wound up in prison as a gay man and the sex that went down there but also like how he got out and rehabilitated himself like to me that was like one of my favorite episodes i had a guy on named rancher who was like divorce and couldn't get a date and that like didn't have much sex in it but it had this like incredible story about how his wife died during childbirth and it was just like so sometimes i love those stories too so i kind of like it all unfortunately yeah oh no no that's great what

there's a lot of you know with the sexuality and relationship I mean, you kind of see a lot of redundant patterns and things. And I know you pick up on this stuff because you tune in on it. What are some of the common threads between all of this, you know, the sexuality, the double lives, the people that are kinky? What do you think people would be the most surprised on, you know, from the vanilla side? Like, it's happening on the other side too. It's just. Well, let me tell you. And this is what, and I'm so glad you asked this question. It's not, and I don't think the answer, though, is going to be what you think. Like, because like, I have to say that when I first handing in some of my stories, the girl that was like reading, I was like, well, what's the point of this one or that one? Because they're just like I said, like just a life story. And I'm like, this is the whole point of not only this story, but the whole book and my show and what it's trying to say and what I have seen and what I think is important that I am showing people because the opposite of what I'm showing people is out there already. Non-monogamy doesn't work. The minute you open up your relationship, it's doomed for failure. I always talk about how much I hate Dr. Drew. Those words have come out of his mouth. Okay, you hear anyone in mainstream talking about non-monogamy. It's always negative. What my show is here to say is, sorry, guys, it can work.

It's not about promoting it and saying everybody should do these things. I know most people won't. I know plenty of vanilla people, monogamous people,

What happened afterwards? Like, who do we fucking like? What are our rules? What are our relationships? And it's that conversation that becomes like, that brings them closer. It's just they're communicating and talking about something, you know, that they never talked about or just more than they ever talked to each other. And that brings them closer.

And like I said, vanilla couples can do it without fucking other people. Just start talking more. Just have more conversations. You know, and what happens is that kind of stuff typically goes out the window in regular relationships because you know, you're older, you get your own groundhog day, you got kids, you're not really talking. And that's what happens. And it's the talking and the communication that has to be sort of added into the relationship that makes people so much closer. That's what it's all about. Oh, totally. Like when she was telling her. But let me tell you. And it was because she stuttered. And let me tell you when I went back. And sometimes like I happen to be, it's in my father's culture. I think it's in my jeans. Like I tend to be a little bit of a like, oh, I don't trust you. I could create a conspiracy theory in my head that doesn't even fucking exist. You know, it's like a ridiculous part of me. And so sometimes I really think

someone's lying and they're not, you know, and this was one of them. And so while I'm talking to her, I'm thinking she's making this whole fucking thing up, you know, and I'm questioning her like that and ruining the whole episode. And then when I went back to edit it, because I edit every one of my episodes myself, I'm like, wait a second, like this is totally believable. Like I completely had changed my mind. I realized I had made a big, fat mistake. And of course I put that out there. But when I was talking to her, I was like, send me proof. And let me tell you that story that you read in there, Ashley fucked her best friend from high school's mom and stepdad. 100% true.

So many guys are into fucking a guy every now and then. Like, sorry. Like it's true. I have them all on my show. Oh, I know. There's so many little proclivities. Guys are turned on by other guys. Dicks, even though they may not want a fucking guy.

Like, they're drawn to the masculine, because masculinity is sexy. So there's, they're just resonating with certain masculine things that are fucking hot. It's okay to say it's fucking hot. Yeah. I'm with you. Yeah. And I love, and I put my favorite guy in this guy, Mike, who like called in a bunch of times. So his one story is like a couple of his episodes all in one.

And he just like, and he really did have a journey. Like by the time he called in like the second or third time, he was like, you know, listen, I'm into guys and I'm just fucking. into it. Like when he first started calling me, he would like talk about himself like from the third person and he'd laugh. Like he would like, that's why I think Mike's story is so interesting. Like you read the story. And then when you hear his whole vibe, it's so funny because every time he talks about what he's doing, he's laughing at himself because he can't believe it. He's like almost sitting back at his own life and being like he can't fucking believe he's there sucking dicks and he's in bathhouses and he was so hardcore.

I mean, he does like his story is very sexual and he does a lot of things with guys. And what I love about Mike is like he came full circle and he was ready in his 50s to be like letting the women that he knows if he wants to date them know that this is what he was into and it was always a secret life. And I love that about him. Like I said, his episode is very and his chapter is very sexual. But, you know, what I loved about him was he represents what a lot of guys are doing. And maybe some won't be as extreme as him. But sorry, there's a lot of guys that like to suck a dick.

And it doesn't even mean anything like Layla said. You know, I hear that all the time. I do. I mean, there's, there's a huge. huge uptick and I think I think it's changing don't you don't I mean I feel like guys are getting more open to it yeah the younger generation please they're all heterosexual they're all

yeah everybody's and I don't think curious yeah it's but you know what I believe like and I'm sure you believe the same thing like I don't believe that like you know some people it's like there's so so much craziness stuff though like people think Disney is making people like this like I'm sorry like what I think is that these people are no different than the people in our generation but in our generation we weren't able to cop to it we all had to keep it a secret. Sorry, I know plenty of guys in their 50s that aren't young that are also just like all the young people. Same with the women. Like women nowadays, the younger women are much more

promiscuous and into sex and doing things and they want open relationships and they're not interested of getting married. You know what I mean? I think a lot of women were like that back in our day, but they couldn't be that way. And I think a lot of guys secretly sucked dick back in the day, just like all these younger people are out and proud of doing it. They just couldn't talk about it. So I don't think it's like more now for any other reason. I just think. it's there's more honesty about it yeah no totally and i i see the trend and i just always want to know do you see it too yeah and we're yeah other people may not that don't have their finger on the pulse of what they don't want it you know what i mean they don't you see that they're like they're they're like

horrified by these trends that are coming out now and they want everything they can do like to to to go back to being the way that it was but it never will and i'm sorry the younger generation is a lot more involved you cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube yeah that's sorry it's done yeah Yeah. Okay. So I have some interesting closing questions here. I want to just got like four of a mirror five of them. Let me zing them at you. Okay. What do you hope that the reader feels at the end of the book? You want titillation, liberation, curiosity, relief. Like, what do you hope? Oh, my God. The readers get out of it. And that's a good question and hard to answer. I wish I knew about this question because it's such a good question. And I just feel like all of the above. You know, I don't know. I've like I did another book, a cartoon book, like many, many years ago, myself and I cartoon. like every one of my relationship stories from my losing my virginity to now. And I'm like, and what was interesting when that book went out, I had a guy that left it on his coffee table, and so many girls that he banged would pick it up and read it. And he would tell me what they

thought about it. And so many girls had so many different opinions. Like some people felt very sad for me. Some people felt liberated. So I think what's super interesting when you put stuff out there is people will feel all kinds of things. Everybody is coming from their own sort of belief system and whatever. So I feel like people will feel all different things. And that's interesting to me. Like I don't need for anyone to feel any certain way, but what will be interesting to me is all the different feelings people will have. Like will people be titillated? Will more people be horrified? Will some people be inspired? It'll be interesting what people, what different people take away from it, because I think everybody comes to art or any kind of creative thing that's out there from their own

sort of belief system and then they take it in and they feel different things, right? And that's what's interesting. Yes. Yeah. So now you have me questioning like I'm going to be fascinated by people's different of feelings, you know, more so. I know. No, I know. I'm curious about what the reaction is going to be too. Yeah. And your podcast and my podcast and all the other sex podcasters out there, you know, we're out there kind of normalizing. Yes. Thousands of private kinks. We're making them not private and hopefully normalizing them. What do you hope your book normalizes? Like I said, non-monogamy. It really is about saying like the whole fucking point. There's a different path. There's a different way you can approach this. Yeah, there is a different way. But also that maybe

it doesn't even need to be your way. It's that this can work and it does work and people are better off from it. I said it 10 times on this episode. It is what it is. It's like when my editor of friend was reading and it was like, well, like, okay, so a lot of these stories just have happy endings. like what's the point of them? The point is people don't believe that these stories have happy endings. Do you understand? And the point is they do. And so that's really what the bigger picture is. And that's what I want people to get. Like these are real things that real people do. And these people are walking amongst you. I think I say it in my intro. Like, you know, these could be your brother, your sister, your boss, your neighbors. Like this is like they're walking amongst us. They're free roaming. Yes. And they're regular people. And this is what some people. people do. Now, some of them are very extreme. Like most women are not going to roll like Casey, who happened to be one of my favorite guests and be it over 50 gangbangs. But I think her episode is like super interesting because you get a lot of gang bang facts. And for people that might fantasize about having gang bang, never have it because it happens to be a lot of women's favorite fantasy and they're

probably never going to live it out. But you know, you might get a little bit more information to fantasize about after you hear all the gang bang facts that I'm curious about, you know, even though I never want to be in a gang bang. So I just hope people like take that from it. That's, that's the whole point of the book. Yeah, yeah. You know, it's interesting, too, is after talking to Casey, myself and Erica, I never thought, dang bangs. I mean, I always thought, okay, that's hot, but I never thought I could see myself doing it. And now, you know, the more you talk about it and you hear about it and you hear how sexy and hot it is, there's a part of me. It's like, that might be on my list. There you go. I'm, or even just, you know, the, you know, what was it,

the glory holes. Like, I always thought like, ew, I can't suck some stranger's dick. there's this part of me that's like you get into this mode where you're like that's fucking hot like just the pure sexuality of it you know in that moment how just deep into the the sex you are it doesn't matter who that person is behind that wall you're just there to suck a dick like that's hot yeah and they never do it but i love the fact that you know when you listen to other people's stories and the stories like you have in your book it really gets your mind you know the creative juice is flowing anyway. Totally. Yeah, I love it. So I've definitely gotten more creative because of my interactions with other kinky people as well. Yeah. And that's what I hope people take from the book.

You know, I, you know, will I get people saying, oh, I'm doing this now because of your book? I always feel a little bad when a lot of people tell me, oh, because your podcast, I'm now like fucking all these people. I'm like, I don't know. Don't you love that? I actually love that. I'm like, I'm so glad. I'm actually, it's like, yeah, that's what I put it out there for. I'm glad that what's out there resonated with. you and made a difference. Yeah, totally. And that's the whole point. Okay. So if someone's listening right now thinking, I could never tell my secret, what would you say to them as Kathy Kay, the podcast host of strictly anonymous podcast? Like they can never, well, first of all, you could tell it on my show because I change everybody's voices and you could change your name and you could call into my show

and it's a safe place. And I would tell people that like there's nothing more fulfilling and freeing than telling someone your secrets. Like I get it all the time from people after they call to my show like, oh my God, especially the people that it is a secret life that they can't. But I will say that also revealing your secrets to a partner, like I said, it can be a fucking game changer. It's not only freeing. It will add something to your sex life that was not there before 100% of the time. So have the balls just do it, you know, because I think it does really help and it is very healing. Now, who you're going to tell your secret to, whether it's me or your therapist or your partner, I suggest your partner, you know. But I think, you it's a really beneficial thing because I always get emails from people who have called in my show talking about like how great it was. And then there's something about hearing your story. Like for me, I was always like, why don't other therapists tape their conversations? Because so many times, I know, right? So many times people, like I tell people like, wait until you actually hear your story. Because when you hear your story from the third person and if you cop to your secret life on my show,

it's very interesting. You get a very different perspective of your own life by listening to it back, you know? So I think that it's, I think it's very healing and very important to get your secrets out. I don't know. For me, I don't have secrets really. I'm like a, I, I can't wait to tell everybody everything that happens to me because like it makes me feel better. Like, especially when bad things happen to me. I have to call up everybody to be like, oh my God, can you believe this? Oh, I know. Because it makes me feel better to let it out. There's not, it's like, it's hard to carry this stuff. The people that are living secret lives on my show and carrying it.

They are, it's hard to do it. It's sad that people are still doing it, you know. So I think, you know, being out and proud is so much more free and when you could really be your own authentic self, like a lot of people have been on my show. And there's so many different stories about people finally being their own authentic selves. And they're so much happier. Yeah, they are. Yeah, for sure.

Well, you pretty much, you just kind of wrapped it up right there. Totally. My last sentence was pretty much summarizing what you just said. I'll ask it and let you, if there's anything else you want to add to it, you can. Yeah. There was two, there was one thing. My book came in. It was supposed to come out on October. And a week before it was supposed to come out, I got a whole box of books and they were horrific. I mean, Lila, you heard me.

Oh, no. You called me. I know. I was fucking flipping out. I was so upset. That book cover looked like it had the measles. I was like, that has to that. The black was wrong.

There was no publisher on the back. There were, the pages were greenish, yellow, like everything. about it. I was horrified. I walked to Barns Noble. I was like to look for any kind of book with any kind of these defects. I didn't find one. I was flipping the fuck out. Thank God. I love my publisher. They were like cool with me. Everyone made mistakes. My publisher made a mistake. The printers made a mistake so no one could blame anyone and everyone had to redo it. So they redid that. That was a whole thing and that's why the book date of it coming out changed. And then the other thing was is I was supposed to do the audiobook. I told them straight up right from the beginning like you better hire me

to do the audio book because they pay someone in an audio book. company comes in and buys your book and then they pay someone to read the book. And of course, my publisher is like, don't worry, we'll get them to make sure you do it. And so when that time came that the audio book was going to come out in October, they were like, okay, just, you know, because I wanted to tape it from my home with my podcast equipment. They're like, okay, let her put it on tape and just send it to us so we could see if her equipment is good. And I started to read my book and oh my God, I was like literally, I was literally annoying myself. I was so bad at it. I'm I'm like, I fucking suck at this.

Like, I was reading it and I was putting myself to sleep. I was like, not only, and I was like irritating myself. I'm like, I was fucking suck. So I'm like, I go to YouTube University. I'm like, it's okay. I'm just going to go watch three videos right on YouTube and figure out how to do this. So I start taking like classes on YouTube and I realize like, yes, it is not only is an art.

These people that do audiobooks are professional actors, okay? I can't be anyone but myself. I'm the worst actor. I was terrible at reading it. These real audiobook people are so good that I'm like, I want someone good to read my book. I don't want to ruin my book just because I want my voice fucking on it. And I was afraid to call my agent and tell them.

But he was actually very appreciative that I made that decision because I feel like I'm doing. Yeah. I feel like I'm doing my book a disservice if I did it. So sorry, I couldn't read it because you would have fucking hated me reading it. I don't need my voice to be out there. I'm going to get, you know, it's going to be like a great person reading it.
