Today I have on Colin. Colin has the craziest herpes story. I mean, you will just be taken for the
craziest ride. I know I was. I mean, he was kind of like, you know, my history with herpes and I was
like, okay, I introduced him like you had herpes. He's like, well, no, I thought I had herpes for 15 years,
but I didn't. But it sounds like a very simple story. Like he got diagnosed with herpes, 15 years,
goodbye. He was told he didn't have herpes. No, that is so not the story. In the beginning, I was like,
oh, you just told us the whole story. You ruined it. I'm like, he did not ruin it. It is the crazy story.
The craziest story you've ever heard. He talks about his journey from the beginning. He did have
Chlamydia once. He talks a little about that. But he talks about when he first got diagnosed,
why he was diagnosed, he talks about like how he found out that he didn't have it. Then he found out how
he didn't have it. And then how crazy it got after that. I can't even tell you how insane the
story gets, but because he has been through this journey and this whole roller coaster ride with his
wife, he has so, and he's also a nurse, by the way, but he has so much like interesting
information on herpes, on the test, on the stats, on the medication, on how you get it, how,
and all that kind of stuff. I mean, it's so super interesting. There are so many things that he told
me that I had never heard of. He learned all of this stuff because, like I said, he's been on
this crazy fucking ride and he had no choice, you know, but you're going to,
learn a lot from him. It's a super interesting episode. It's also very dramatic and there's a lot of
drama and craziness. So it's like a good story in that sense. He's super cool. But I think like I said,
at the end of the day, what's most interesting about the story is how informative it is. So listen up
to his story. You're going to learn a lot. So I'm going to be right back on with Colin. Hi, Colin. Welcome to
the strictly anonymous podcast. How are you today? Well, good, Kathy. Thank you. So listen, all I know about you
you have some sort of herpes journey.
Do you have herpes?
Is that what we're going to be talking about?
Because I'd be excited if you did,
because I'd love to talk to someone that has herpes and get the whole story from them.
I had one girlfriend that had it, but she would never come on the show and talk about it.
Okay.
So I'm sorry.
So sorry to disappoint you know I don't have herpes.
What do you don't have herpes?
I thought you said you have a herpes journey.
I do.
I do.
This is the thing is what I want to talk with you about because herpes has so much stigma
not attached to it. And so many people go their lives and impacting their sexual to keep in mind,
I don't have herpes, but I've been impacted by a herpes diagnosis that was positive for like 15
years until I figured out over time that I actually don't have it. And that's what I wanted to talk
with you about. Oh my God. You should have left that towards the end. You don't know how to tell a
story. You should have talked about how you got diagnosed with herpes, talked about your 15 years of
experience and then at the end
threw in there that you wound up
finding out you never fucking had it.
That's the way to tell your story.
Then let's start over.
Let's start over.
I'm happy to.
No, I'm leaving that in.
I just leave it all in.
It's still interesting.
So we know where we're going.
It will be interesting how you find out anyway, right?
It's still a great story because I have a million
questions already.
But I want to hear the whole story and I want
to work from the beginning, okay?
even though I know where the ending goes.
Okay, 15 years ago, somehow you got, okay, first let's get this whole situation where you,
are you like a married guy right now, or are you single?
How old are you?
I'm in my mid-40s, I am married, yes.
Okay, and how long you've been married for?
We've been married eight and a half years.
Together for?
Together for 12.
Okay, cool.
So the herpes journey starts before her.
Okay, so.
It does, yeah.
Okay, cool.
All right, so let me ask you this.
I think we should start.
at when you got diagnosed with having herpes.
Should we start there?
Yeah.
Okay.
Let me ask you this, though.
Okay, because this is an important question in this topic.
And a lot of people want me to ask every single guest, whether they use condoms.
Okay.
And I'm like, I'm not going to ask every fucking single guest.
You know what I'm going to ask you because, you know,
because the herpes thing, what's interesting about herpes that I know about,
and we're going to get to you story in a second because one of my girlfriends got it.
And, you know, she got it because, like, her boyfriend put his dick on her ass.
You don't have to go inside anywhere to get herpes, right?
And that's where, like, people think, oh, condoms inside is, like, everything,
but they let dicks touch them on the outside and even pussies touch them on the outside.
But, like, if you don't have a condom on, like, you could still get it on the outside.
You know what I mean?
Which is so interesting.
Same with other, I forget with the other one that you could get on the outside like that.
So were you a condom user or not a condom user?
I have been not a condom user for a long time.
I do want to address one thing, though.
sure if I humped your leg you're not going to get herpes but if you had a sore if I had a sore
and I humped your leg I'm not you're not going to get herpes from that how come my friend got it
on her ass from a guy right right because there's like it's close to my understanding of it
is that that's closer to like a mucosal lining of the anus right and like in like thinner skin
where there's nerve endings but like if you hump a leg like there's no nerve bending
on your leg, right?
Yeah, and herpes actually dies quickly on surfaces
that aren't like attached to like a thin necosal lining.
I'm sure a doctor may correct me and be like,
well, how close is the leg to the pussy?
You know, but it's like...
It's about how thin as someone's skin.
No, no, but actually when you're saying that,
because she did get on her ass,
I remember like she was trying to explain where it was
and it was like close to that area.
So it makes that, I mean, that kind of makes sense, right?
Because you never really hear about anyone walking around
or herpes on their knee.
You know what I mean?
Right.
Right.
Like the lips for HSV-1, there's like two types of herpes, right?
So HFU-1, the oral type.
Yeah.
And I never get it on my cheek.
You know what I'm saying?
Think about it.
It's the same thing.
So it totally makes sense.
And I'm so glad that you clarified that because you changed my whole life.
I thought I could get herpes on the middle of my leg.
And now if anybody's in question that you're having sex with,
just be like, look, my leg will be fine.
Yeah, exactly.
I'm riding my fucking leg.
All you want, herpes, girl.
Okay, so, all right.
And listen, I'm glad that you're being a little honest.
Like, what I personally think, I was always, like, a big condom user because I had, like,
hypochondria.
And not hypochondria, like, I care about, I get a cold.
I could give a fuck.
I only care about what I could die from, you know, and AIDS became, like, a thing in my
lifetime.
And I was, like, oh, fucking shit.
Like, I was so petrified and I always used condoms.
But what I found out, okay, is, like, I don't care what anyone says.
and all these assholes who write into me,
like, why don't you ask them if they wear condoms?
It's like, you probably don't wear condoms, okay?
The truth is, I'm sorry to say,
most people don't use condoms.
The only guy I fuck that loved using condoms
was as much of a hypochondriac as I am.
And I'm always like, you want a guy that wears condoms all the time
or a girl, fuck a hypochondriac, okay?
Because they're the only ones like putting it on all the time.
Do I mean?
Most people, a lot of times don't use it.
They're sloppy.
A lot of people are fucking when they're drunk or buzzed, you know?
And they just don't because it's not,
it doesn't feel as good.
Sorry.
And in the heat of passion, all your rationale goes out the window.
Yeah.
Right?
When you're horny.
It's like you're drunk.
Yeah.
And let's just be frank.
I mostly have sober sex because, like, as a guy, if I'm drinking, it's not happening.
I'm not even worried about it.
So most of the time I'm having sex as sober sex anyway, maybe a little bit of a buzz.
Okay.
But I just, like, I have zero feeling from the condom.
Yeah, from a condom.
I don't get any kind of sensation that's going to.
like get me to my happy place and and in addition there's no hormonal exchange right so like the
things that really make sex great it feels like you know you're you're humping your pillow from
my perspective if you're wearing a condom because there's no there's not that like hormonal exchange
you're not the like the sensation that you get when you don't have a condom and yeah i probably you know
we should all wear condoms it should all be safe but the reality of the situation is it's just not as
good. Yeah, no, that's, and that's why most people don't. I'm just saying that's the reality. So before they
judge you, okay, why don't you think about how you fucked people? You know what I'm saying? I'm just
saying that most people are very judging about it. And I don't think if we did a poll, if we did a poll
that most people would say, I think it would be below 50% that people use condoms. Like,
I just don't think more, I think more people don't use them than do. So that's it, you know.
Okay, so let's get to the time. Are you single at the time? Are you single at the time?
time that you get this diagnosis or are you with a partner? I am single at the time. I had just
come out of a long-term relationship and I was single, yeah. Okay, so you were dating someone for a long
time. You were totally clean. Had you ever got any other kinds of STIs or any kind of situations before this?
I got chlamydia once like five years earlier. Yeah. And that's a very common thing for guys,
because the weird thing is with chlamydia, because I had one guy that got it and I used a conno with
them and he tried to blame it on me. And I was like, go fuck yourself.
I don't, didn't give it to you.
And I didn't.
Okay, but the problem is, is like, girls have it without them knowing, right?
They don't really have any symptoms.
It's very silent in them.
So they could spread it like wildflowers for guys.
But guys get symptoms and, like, hardcore symptoms, right?
Like, you knew you had chlamydia.
Oh, I knew I had something.
What happened?
This is the sexual health Saturdays that we're talking about STIs.
It's interesting to me.
Like, why don't you tell guys, like, what was that experience?
Like, what were the symptoms?
Piss and glass.
I mean, it hurt so bad.
It was like pissing glass with fire.
It was like, there was a pressure there.
There's clearly something in my urethra as I was peeing out.
Like it felt like like cuts combined with with fire.
Okay, imagine you know like when you eat too many chili peppers, too much salsa and you get the ring of fire thing going on.
Now imagine that coming out of your peanut orethra.
Like it was it was like hot and spicy and then like cutting glass.
It sucked.
It was so bad.
It's clearly something wrong.
there was no question about it whatsoever.
It was like an immediate run that day after urinating to go to the urgent care and be like,
I got something.
Can I please get a prescription to like get this taken care of?
And thankfully, it's not a virus, it's a bacteria.
So I could get antibiotics for it and it was going in a couple of days.
Yeah.
How many pills did you have to take before that pain went away?
Like was it the first one or did you have to go through the whole pack?
Do you remember?
Oh, always go through the whole.
No, no, no.
I know.
Listen, everyone followed.
Oh, before the pain went away.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, just give the details.
Oh, I don't remember.
I think it was like a couple of days that, like,
it was uncomfortable for probably 48 hours before the antibiotics really started kicking in.
Yeah.
But I don't remember.
That was like 20 years ago.
Yeah, it's interesting because that got,
and then did you,
did you know who gave it to you?
No.
Did you call anyone up and accuse them like my fucking guy did?
I don't do that.
I mean, it wouldn't be an accusation call if I, if I got that,
if I was single now and I got like something from somebody,
I'd be like,
Hey, you may not know this because I would trust that you would tell me.
First of all, you're not going to, you're not going to fuck when you got chlamydia.
And you're not going to fuck when you have got it.
The shit hurts.
It's not your, your ability to mask it with your face, the pain, right?
Especially if you're going to come.
No, no, no.
But I'm talking about the girl.
The girl that gave it to you probably had no idea.
She had it.
You didn't call up any of the girls that you had just fucked and been like, hey, you might have got chlamydia because I fucking have it and I just fucked you.
That's not an accusation call.
That's a like, hey, heads up, you might have something.
Did you give that call?
I don't remember if I did or not.
I don't remember.
I probably did, but it definitely wasn't an accusation call because at the time I was
aware that women, I think maybe I heard from the doc, like women don't necessarily know they have it.
Men definitely do.
So if I called anybody, it was definitely not an accusation.
It was more like, hey, by the way, might want to get some antibiotics because I might have grabbed it from you.
Yeah, well, I mean, I'm sure my guy said it that way, but I was,
was insulted because I used a condom with I didn't.
And I had shared him with my friend because he was a good fuck and he had a big dick.
And he called up her and accused her too.
So we both went to the same doctor.
And neither one of us were the perpetrator.
So how many girls did you fuck?
It's like this.
It's like so funny.
So anyway, I wonder why he got chlamydia.
You know what I mean?
So anyway, okay, let's get back to your story.
I'm sorry.
This is all about SDI.
So let's tell it.

Yeah, well, I mean,
I'm sure my guy said it that way, but I was insulted because I used a condom with
and I didn't.
So let's tell some funny SDI stories.
Okay, so let's move on.
So, all right.
So you had.
Chlamydia once. Now let's get to the herpes diagnosis. You're single, but you're like fucking around, I'm assuming.
Yeah. And I would say, okay, so at that time, I was probably having sex with, I would say, I was a real slut at the time from my, you know, from my, in relation to like what I had done before, I was probably having sex with somebody different once or twice a week.
Okay.
I was sleeping around quite a bit. And I woke up, uh, it was beautiful. It was beautiful.
May morning, right? And I got up, put on my shorts. I went for a run. And at the time, I was
wearing boxers, so I was probably just going commando in my shorts. And it was like in our area,
it's like 70 degrees, 75 on a really nice May day, you know, and I started to feel this thing on
my left night. And I was like, God, that hurts, you know. And I was, I don't know, I went for a couple
miles or something, I didn't go super far, came home and took my pants off and there was a blister
on my right nut. Oh, on your leg? Testicles. Right next your testicle? No, on my, on my, on my testicle.
Oh, okay. I thought you said like, on my leg, but on my testicle. So it wasn't like, it wasn't like
thigh chaff, you know what I mean? Like from just running, it was like on my nut and I was like,
ah, shit, that's not good. So I went to a provider, local provider,
And I said, hey, I don't know what this is, but I've been sleeping around a bit, and this just appeared.
And I don't know if it's a heat sore or if it's herpes.
Because I know what herpes is, and I know how it presents, which is like these little pustule blisters, right?
So you can present that way, and you can also get it just from skin shedding, like cells shedding onto your, you know, sensitive area, whether that's your mouth or your testicles or your genadoles, I should say.
and so I said, hey, I don't know what this is.
And they said, okay, we'll do a swab.
And at the time, it was like, you know, I mean, I'm a hygienic guy.
So I was like, I took a shower.
I'm thinking like, could it be soap, irritation?
Could it be, you know, just the heat?
It was warm enough.
Like balls are sweating when I'm running.
So maybe it's that.
And so they did a swab and they sent it in.
And then you go through the whole, you know, waiting period.
so I've got this thing on my nuts for a couple of days waiting for this to come back.
And I get the call back.
Oh, you've got, you've got herpes, HSV-2.
By the way, I wanted to just ask you real quick.
Do you have it, do you have like the one version on your lips by any chance?
Because so many people do, I have that.
I do not.
Okay.
I do not.
So you just know like that tingling feeling and I'm assuming it would be the same thing.
But anyway, okay, go on.
So it comes back, like does your doctor call you on the phone or tell you to come into the office?
How does it work?
Yeah.
I think I got a call to call them back.
You know how it is, right?
Just leave a message.
So they say, I give us call back.
And so I called them back and they said it came back positive for HSV2.
And you need to go down to your local store.
You know, your local pharmacy, we've got a prescription for you.
And the prescription is a medication called valcyclovir.
And there's acyclovier and valcyclovir.
And valyclovir is the one that is most commonly.
prescribed now because it's
one that you take every day
and it suppresses, well, you don't
have to take it every day, but if you get
symptoms, you take it and suppresses the
symptoms, you can't take it every day. And it doesn't show up.
Right, and for number one, because when I started dating
Dr. Guy, I had never taken anything for, and I rarely get those, but like he gave
it to me because he had it too. And if I make out with someone
that has it as well, I just get infected. It's gross. And he gave me
that to use. And let me
tell you, if you have HSV-1,
like fucking run to your doctor and get that shit because the minute you feel a tingling on your lip,
if you take one of those and then you got to take it for like the next two days,
it knocks it dead in its track.
It really fucking works.
It really works and it's great and there's no reason to wait it out or torture yourself
because it's painful, you know what I mean?
And unsightly and it's great because it really works.
It's powerful stuff, but I mean there's no bad side effects or anything.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's when I got it, my symptoms were gone by then by the time I got a prescription and got it. They were like, it had already kind of scabbed over and gone away. Wow. So, but I was just like, I'm going to just pop this shit like candy every day. I don't give a fuck. I don't want to like, I don't want to feel that again. I don't want to give it to anybody. And the side effects are like nothing at all. So I wasn't worried about developing cancer down the road or anything like that. It was just like, fuck it. I'll just take it like a vitamin. You know what I mean?
Wait, no, but no, I don't know what you mean. Let me ask you this quick question. First of all, the first thing I'm going to say when I hear your story is I would have been like, oh, do you really have herpes? Because like when my friend got her first time, her first experience, she like wound up like going to the hospital in so much pain. And supposedly the first flare is the worst. So bad, painful that maybe like that was your clue that maybe you didn't have it because it seems like it wasn't that bad and it went away. I don't know.
And there's actually another clue that I didn't have it.
And this happens, I would say, in like 80% of cases.
Yeah.
That first flare up can be, can be really bad.
It can also just show up as a little pustral.
So it's not always bad, but there's oftentimes flu symptoms that come along with it.
And you're like laid out and sick.
Right.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I didn't have that either.
Yeah.
She had it really bad.
Okay.
So wait.
The other thing I was going to say is do they when you have herpes, like you
had the number two or supposedly had.
Do they tell you to just take it indefinitely, like daily?
Is it a much lower dose to take it daily?
At the time, that's a good question.
Actually, I don't know about dosage rates for like when you take it.
My guess is no, because they said you can either take this daily and just suppress
symptoms completely or, and it's my understanding too that you don't develop a tolerance
so that it doesn't take more and more over time.
but I decided because I didn't want to transmit it to anybody
and I wanted to sleep around like the slot that I was
I'm going to take it every day like fuck it right and so I
did and within that this time frame there was a two-year time frame
when I was I interesting oh my god I did totally forgot about you're going to
kill me for my storytelling ability it's okay oh no sometimes retelling your story
triggers memories that you've suppressed and shit it's not bad
right so i had met this amazing artist she was like beautiful italian really unique like artistic uh she was
a musician dancer and actor triple threat type right you can imagine with somebody like that this sex is
fucking great but she said i have HSV2 is it a problem i said i don't know i don't think so i don't
really want it, we'll use a condom with you. And she's like, well, I don't really get symptoms from it.
I just have it. And then, of course, my brain was like, oh, fuck it then. We don't need a condom.
Yeah. And that was probably like, like two weeks prior to that. Did you give her an accusation call?
Well, no. I didn't. We had broken up before then because of the herpes. So I was like, I don't really want to risk it.
You know what I mean? Did you ever fuck her even once?
Yeah.
I think we had, we had sex once, and it was mostly from what I remember again.
This is like 18 years ago or something at this point.
God, that was like 2000.
It would have been 2012.
So yeah, like this is like, you know, 14 years ago.
We don't care.
Just was it good or bad.
Yeah, good point.
It was, it was great, but I don't think we ended up like having penetration, but we definitely were grinding.
Okay.
Let me ask you one more question.
I have a million questions
that stories like this
because I'm a curious person.
Did she tell you before you fucked
or like after the first time?
Because my friend used to tell people
after she fucked them.
I was like I can't,
this is why I use condoms with people
I can't believe.
Did she tell you before or after the first time?
She was responsible enough to tell me before.
As she should.
Okay, cool.
As she should.
And I actually flew that two year period
after I was diagnosed.
I was telling people before I slept with them.
I've got HSV2, but I use bowelcylure to suppress it.
I don't get symptoms.
Right.
But can I just ask you another question too?
And we'll get right back to where you left your story off before you went back to the girl.
Like, how did you feel when you got it?
I mean, to me, like my biggest paranoia of using condoms was like AIDS first, herpes second.
Because like how do you like, you know, because the rest of your life until you get like locked down one partner if that's what you want.
I mean, you have to like wind up telling people and so many people maybe that would be a deal breaker.
Like were you horrified that you got it?
Were you like no big deal?
Like how did you feel about having it emotionally?
You know what I mean?
Devastated?
Yeah.
I mean, just like, and the reason being is because then every time you have a conversation with
something, you're opening that up.
And even if they say, hey, that's okay, you know there's like some level of subconscious
judgment behind that, right?
Yeah, because how did you feel when that girl told you two weeks earlier?
I was like, well, you're okay.
I mean, I guess I know your history now.
You know, like, she was very cool and everything and like, I don't know.
But did you silently judge her?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
So you knew.
Like I said, you know, it's like, oh, I know your history.
Like, you know, you haven't been careful about who you're sleeping with.
I'm careful of who I'm sleeping with or something.
I don't know.
Yeah, it doesn't mean that.
I immediately thought that I was like better than she was, right?
Yeah, which isn't true.
She's just more unlucky.
But the whole thing is, my whole point is that you knew how people would think
because you just literally went through that with someone.
like two weeks prior.
You know what I'm saying?
And now you're her and you have to go tell people.
And that's what to me is very devastating.
So, you know, you just blew past them telling you.
You didn't really talk about how devastated you are.
I think that's a part of your story because I would be fucking devastated.
Yeah.
I mean, it is, it's.
Especially because we find out you don't even have it.
Oh my God.
I'm sorry.
What's that?
Especially because we find out it was all a waste of your time.
You didn't even have it, which is so interesting.
So let's draw my.
Let's make this story even more dramatic.
Let's talk about how devastated you were when you fucking got the diagnosis.
So I get this thing and I'm like, I have it for two years.
Like I'm taking, I'm like in my head.
I'm like that's my label.
That's like an identifier for me now, right?
That's like how I see myself.
I've got herpes.
So I'm taking Valcycloid beer every day.
I need the woman who becomes my wife eventually.
And how many girls did you tell in like how many girls sat across from me that you
said, oh, by the way, this is what I had and what were their reactions before your wife?
Oh, like, I would say, first of all, it was probably like a dozen before I met my wife like a year later.
And six of them were like, thanks for the first date, you know.
So it's probably 50-50 that were like, you know, some of them had enough knowledge.
They were like, I mean, we'll use a condom.
Yeah.
So raw dogging goes out the window.
Of course.
Yeah.
Especially if it's just going to be a one-time deal.
or if you're the first time, right?
When I met my wife, she was like knowledgeable enough that she said, okay, well, what are you doing for it?
And I told her, and she said, are you having any symptoms?
Do you know what symptoms feel like?
And I told her just based on my research and what I've been told, what the symptoms would feel like.
There's a prodrome time period.
What's that?
And that means, projum means that you get the hints that you're getting.
that you're having an infection come on or the symptoms come on.
Oh, right, all right.
But you're not actually really presenting.
So that's the tingling.
That's the like itching, that kind of stuff, right?
And so we talked all about that.
And she said, okay, we'll continue to take your medication and I guess we'll be fine.
So, you know, the years go on.
We're living together now.
I've got a job downtown doing sales.
And, you know, I'm bored one day.
looking at the alternative paper and there's this big one full page ad that says,
hey, if you've got HSV-2, we have $1,000 for you to be part of this new drug trial.
Oh, interesting.
No matter what you think about drug trials, $1,000 sounds really good.
Yeah.
I'm like, you know, I got HSV-2 shit.
I'm going to get myself $1,000.
Yeah.
And at this point, sorry, I keep interrupting, I have important questions.
At this point, you obviously had no other.
their outbreaks, correct, since that first thing that happened, two years goes by any tingly,
any kind of symptoms, anything happened during that time?
Nope, because I was taking that valcyclovier.
Okay, go on.
So I call up the study.
I say, I'm in, I've got HSV-2.
I was in an area that, or I went to a provider that would send the, that was highly regarded.
So I was like sure that it wasn't just, I'm like, you know, it wasn't nuts.
say anything bad against Planned Parenthood because they actually now use the same test.
But I sent my thing off. The guy calls me up. He's like, great, go get tested and call me back.
Or we'll call you, I guess. So I go downtown, get the test to confirm to be part of this study.
Like two weeks goes by. And I know this is like a turnaround test. It's like a two-day test, right?
For results. And two weeks goes around. I'm like, I don't know what's going on.
Maybe he got enough people or something.
Finally, God calls me back.
He's like, hey, so who told you you have herpes?
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
You're kidding.
And I'm like, uh, uh, yeah, I'm like the doctor.
And he's like, huh.
I was like, why?
He said, well, you don't have herpes.
Oh, my God.
I was like, what do you mean I don't have herpes, dude?
I had like, I had the pushtules on my nut and everything.
He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You don't have herpes.
You're, you're.
that just came back is clearly negative.
Who told you that?
And I said, well, it was this, this provider, and it was, and he sent the test off, and
they swabbed me.
This is a key part.
They swabbed me.
And he goes, okay, so they sent that to the UW.
I don't know what, that's, does bizarre, because that's the gold standard.
The test that I got is called the Western Blot test.
Now, if you've got, if you think you have herpes, this is the,
gold standard that you're supposed to get your confirmation from. So you get a blood draw. It'll give you
a certain number called an IGG, that IGG will go from zero to less than, it can come up as less than
0.9. If it's between 0.91 and 1.01, it's indeterminate. And anything over 1.01 is positive.
Right. I had an IG come back that was less than 0.91. And he got.
It was, okay, well, you don't, it was, no, I take that back.
I'm sorry.
It actually has specificity to it.
So it was, it was far less than 0.91.
I've had other tests since that have been less than 0.91, but this one was like, let's say, 0.25 or something.
Right.
But what signals herpes?
What, where do you got to be if you have actual herpes?
Like over point, or over 1.01.
Okay.
But you never knew what that score was when you first got it to begin with.
That I, that I wasn't told.
Interesting.
What I was told was you have herpes.
Exactly.
You didn't look.
Right.
And so it was just that.
And the reason that I was told that is because since since, I don't want to jump ahead too far.
But the reason I was told that is if it comes back indeterminate with the Western Blonde test, they just assume that you have it.
And they tell you to act as if you do.
Why?
So it would be protective and take Valcalaver and the whole thing.
Hey, guys.
Let's get real.
Sex drive matters.
right, as well as overall satisfaction in the bedroom.
And that's why I'm excited to tell you all about drive boost by VB health.
Drive boost is not some sketchy supplement.
Okay, it is doctor formulated and contains four ingredients that have evidence to support libido.
And it is designed to be safe and effective for both men and women to use to boost their sex drive
and overall experience in the bedroom.
For women, Drive Boost contains several ingredients that have been shown to mitigate some symptoms

then go get yourself and your partner some drive boost from VB Health.

All you got to do is go to VB.comth and use my code strictly.
Or just go to the description, click on the link and use my,
code strictly for 10% off.
Or over 1.01.
Okay, but you never knew what that score was when you first got it to begin with.
That I wasn't told.
What I was told was you have herpes.
Exactly.
You didn't look, right.
And so it was just that.
And the reason that I was told that is because since, since, I don't want to jump ahead
too far, but the reason I was told that is it becomes, it comes back indeterminate with
the Western Blonde test.
they just assume that you have it.
And they tell you to act as if you do.
Why?
So be protective and take Valcyclovir and the whole thing.
Do you know why?
Wait, but do you know why they do that?
Is it because most people, if it's indeterminate, they really have it, they've done studies?
Like, why would they put something on, you know, a medication for their whole life if they don't fucking know?
What's the reasoning?
Literally?
Yeah.
Better safe and sorry.
That's what I've been told.
Better safe than sorry, you probably haven't.
Okay.
Right.
You had a sore.
You came in, obviously something.
Most likely it's that, even though, right?
You're not presenting with nothing and coming in and they're saying, just take it.
You had a fucking sore.
It was indeterminate maybe and that's what.
But they didn't tell you yours was indeterminate, correct?
No, they just said you have it.
Exactly.
And they swabbed it.
Yeah.
And so the swab for the Western Blot test is like the gold standard of the gold standard.
If they take your blood,
Yeah.
It's not as accurate as if they take a swab.
Right.
And they did both.
No, they just took, they just took the swab.
The first people.
The first time.
Oh, they didn't do the blood.
The second time I went in was a standard herpes test for blood.
So there's two different tests.
You're confusing me.
Second time is when you're doing this thing for $1,000, correct?
You never got second time.
The first time when you went in, they only
swabbed you. Is that the gold standard?
That is the, that's the gold standard the first time, right? Exactly. Okay. Okay. Now, here's,
here's what's key about this is that herpes has a 20% false positive. Oh, you're kidding.
Rate on it. Exactly. 20%. Exactly. 20%. Exactly. 20%?
That's kind of high. And it's, no? And in some cases, up to 50% false positive.
That, that I've seen, but the standard is 20% false positive. 10% false negative.
but the false negative isn't going to be like 0.25 or I've had them as low as 0.05.
That's like a solidly negative.
A false negative is going to be like, you're a 0.89.
Right.
Like teetering right on the edge.
Yeah.
Right.
Mm-hmm.
Exactly.
So this guy's like, yeah, you're not going to be part of the study because we need people who have a
issue too.
Sorry, guy.
And so imagine like going two years taking a medication, having an identity.
You said you went 15 years.
Is this 15 years later?
No, this is just two years into this journey.
Oh, okay.
There's other journeys that you go through?
Okay, I remember, oh, my God.
Oh, oh, interesting.
Okay, so let's move on.
I won't ask you a million questions about it.
I want to be like, did you tell them, hey, I'll pay you $1,000.
You just gave me the best news of my life.
I would be like, oh, my God, how much can I pay you?
Thank you so much.
Well, I was stoked because I was like, you know, okay, great, I don't have it.
That's major.
It's major.
Yeah.
Crazy.
So, you know, years go by, I tell my wife or my girlfriend at the time, I'm like, hey, you know, it turned out, I don't have it.
And she's like, are you sure? And I was like, I, I mean, this guy said there's no possible way that I have it.
And that first test was somehow, that was a glitch. I might have got somebody like who had herpes that was switched with me, but there's no possible way that I had, like, the files were switched or whatever.
There's no possible way that I have it. So we go about having our sex life as if,
no herpes, right?
And just raw dogging in being a couple, we end up getting married.
Down the road, I start getting, and this is probably, I don't know, 10 years later,
we go on a hike.
And before we went on the hike, I was urinating, and I felt like it's a little bit of pain
in my penis.
Now, in my urethro, specifically.
Now, the thing is, right, HSV can never present for you after that first time.
It lives in your spinal cords and your nerves.
And it then can aggravate and present at any time.
So you can go years and years and years without it and then have an outbreak.
So we go on this hike, backcountry hike, and I'm talking like backpacking.
Yeah.
And on the way out there, I stop by a bush, I'm peeing and it's burning a little bit.
I'm like, what the fuck?
You know, why is this, why am I having this burning sensation?
and I can't drop the whole like,
ah, you have it, but you don't have it
and the amount of it because of all the positives
and false positives, false negatives and everything.
And now I'm going, oh, shit, maybe I do have it.
Right?
So we go to the whole weekend, I'm urinating, it's burning,
it's feeling like that kind of glass burning sensation.
But that can't happen where herpes, correct?
Right.
So there is a type of herpes called urethro herpes.
where you get the herpes inside your ureth, which I found out later.
I love all this kind of information is fascinating to me.
Really?
I never heard of that.
Yeah.
So I go and throughout our relationship, anytime I went in for tests,
because I have my history of being a little slut.
Like, I would go in for a regular, you know, blood test, it called the CBC,
you know, looking at your, like, right blood cells, wipe,
blood cells and all that stuff, right?
I would get a STI test every once in a while just to make sure that I didn't have any kind
of manifestation of HIV or, you know, something else coming up.
And it would always come back like either the test result is above point zero or one point zero one or
0.9.
Right.
So I would get these tests and come back and all they would say is less than 0.91.
So, okay.
Is that teetering?
That's, yeah, it's that, that, that level, yeah.
It's like teetering, kind of.
Right.
But it, it also, there's tests that come back for herpes that will either be specific with a number attached to it.
Right.
Or it just says it's less than indeterminate, which is that point, point nine one place.
So this is years of kind of getting these, these negative results.
And then I'm on this hike.
And I start peeing, it's hurting.
I'm like, gosh, shit.
Like, what the fuck?
So I go and get another test, and it's negative.
Okay, fine.
But this pain hurt for, like, three weeks.
And I tell the doc, and they don't know what's going on.
I'm not urinating any kind of pus.
There's no kind of, like, UTI symptoms.
I don't have any, like, elevated blood count.
They're like white blood cell count or anything like that.
no fever.
So they're like, I don't know.
Drink more water.
Oh my God.
And so I go and see a urologist.
What's the last thing you want to do when you're peeing like fucking shards of glass?
You don't want to drink any water.
And you should.
You should because if you do have like a start of an infection.
Yeah, you got to get it out.
I get it.
You got to get it out.
Anyway, go on.
And for coffee drinkers, if you drink too much,
it can develop into uric acid and actually
actually be like painful to pee because you're too so dehydrant.
So yeah.
Anyway, this last like, this pain lasts like three to four weeks.
Crazy.
And it finally went away.
And I was like, okay, I'm out of the out of the.
Was your girlfriend like keep your dick away from me?
No.
No.
She was my wife at the time.
Oh, okay.
Truth be told, we actually have, well, there's a whole different story.
We don't have sex very often.
often at all. And so this, you know, in my head, in my head,
I don't get, how does the player who's fucking all these girls wind up with a woman he
never has sex with? She was mentally stable. That was a great place to start.
Okay, okay. But, you know, but in my head, I'm also going like, well, I'm not, we're not having
sex very often. The last time we had sex was maybe like, you know, two months ago. Oh, wow.
but are you having sex on the side, right?
Because we're not having sex that often.
She's beautiful.
She's smart.
She's everything, right?
Yeah.
So all the things on paper.
Well, you must have both thought each other were cheating because where the
fuck is this coming from if you guys aren't banging?
You know what I mean?
She must have thought maybe you were cheating.
You're thinking maybe she's cheating, right?
Right.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
But we're also taking each other's word for it because we love each other very much.
We're like, okay.
Yeah.
And you weren't cheating.
I got to get, no.
Right.
So I'm like, okay, well, we've got to get this and figure it out.
So docs don't know.
Urologists is like maybe there's a stricture in there.
Come back and I'll stick a tube up your penis and we'll see.
Of course, that's it.
Not what I want to hear, you know, being scoped.
And by the time that appointment came around for the urologist,
like a week before the pain goes away, I'm like, eh, I don't need anything going up at my
your ear either.
I think I'm fine.
Yeah.
So now this is, now we're like 12 years off of, this is take 2024 or so.
We're like 12 years off of my original diagnosis.
And I go past the urologist thing, we go probably about six months.
I garden, I love gardening.
I oftentimes come in from the garden and, you know, whack off and enjoy myself.
You like it that much?
Well, no, I'm sorry.
The way you, the way you jumped from, I like gardening.
Do I go inside and jerk off?
Just sounded weird.
Yeah, that's all right.
That's kind of sound weird.
I enjoy gardening.
I also enjoy masturbating.
No, I, no, it's kind of like gardening.
It makes me horny.
I'm into plants.
I don't know.
But I get it.
Maybe it relaxes you so much, you know, and you just get so zend out that you're
horny when you go inside.
I don't know.
Yeah, well, I would just be horny.
And, you know, I take a break from gardening and get away and masturbate, go back out and garden.
The two are not related.
Okay, go on.
Those sex on the garden.
just sounds amazing. So anyway,
I get this, it's spring. I think it was
of last, oh, no, let me back up a little bit.
So we got a hot tub, and this is probably
two years ago, three years ago at this point. We got one of these
inflatable hot tubs, you know, put out on her deck during the summer.
And my wife and I come in, we're rinsing off. And she's like,
oh, my navy edges. And I was like, really?
she's like yeah so well
probably should get it checked out
and she goes yeah I think I should
she had a sexual history too
where she didn't use a lot of condoms before she met me
so she was like yeah I'll get this checked out
she goes in
Kathy no shit she comes back
they swabbed it
okay this is really really key
so she they swabbed it
they sent it off to the UW for the Western
blood test
she gets a call back two weeks later
you have HSV2
what
you guys
are on a fucking crazy ride.
Okay, this is crazy.
Fucking tell me about it. So here's
the thing, too. The day after
she gets it swabbed,
she's like, well, I'm glad they
swabbed it. I no longer have any kind of
pain or itching down there.
And I was like, the fuck? Now, that's
not how it works. Exactly. You don't have agency
too. That was something else. If only
it could be that easy.
Right. And then two weeks later,
she gets back positive. I was like,
there's no fucking way. There's no
fucking way. Like how do you
how do you get a herpes pushtrel that they
just wipe away?
And it's just gone?
24 hours later.
Yeah.
Like, no.
It lasts.
It manifests over 48 hours and it's going to last a couple weeks or whatever,
you know,
and then go away and follow up.
She's like,
well,
I don't know.
I have it.
So we're going to act like we do.
And I was like,
okay.
Was she mad?
Did she think it was like,
all your fault and you must have had it and they didn't tell you the truth?
And you,
you know,
you should go get checked again.
Like,
was there any of that kind of?
a conversation?
She wasn't?
I was.
Yeah, I could imagine.
Somebody would think that.
Yeah, of course.
The guilt that I had going like, oh, not only did I get deeped into thinking that I don't have it,
I went my life not pretending as if I didn't have it, and then I gave it to you.
So I went and I got the standard blood test.
That's the blood draw.
And had half of that sample sent off because I don't have any symptoms.
I can't get a swab.
I had the blood draw sent off to the UW for the Western blood test.
So I wanted to cover my bases.
Three or four days later, I got a call back.
You don't have HSV2 according to the standard test.
It was less than .91.
So it was just that like less than result, right?
It wasn't specific.
Then I get a call and this was from Planned Parenthood.
Hey, this is two weeks later or something.
We got some results back.
We wanted to talk with you about please call.
So I called them up.
Yeah.
And they're like, we just got the Western Blot test back.
You've got HSV-2.
Oh, my God.
It's crazy.
The fuck.
I do.
What the fuck?
And so they said, well, here's the situation.
The result that came back is indeterminate.
And so what we do in this scenario is we assume that you have HSV-2, that it's just not
currently manifesting because you don't have any symptoms.
so it's not the it's not the antibodies to which is what they're looking at the antibodies
HSV-2 aren't strong enough so to show up or so they're too enough to show up right so we're just
assuming you have it because your wife has something and because maybe your history I mean is that
the assumption because you're not presenting with anything it's her correct correct and it
it was whether my wife had symptoms or not was irrelevant to the test so no I know that but why are they
putting that it's, oh, because literally it doesn't matter if you have zero symptoms or
wherever, if it's indeterminate, they're still going to say you fucking have it, even if you
have no sores all over your body?
Correct.
Interesting.
That's correct.
Yeah.
So.
This is why you got to advocate for yourself, because that doesn't really make sense to me.
Oh, my God.
And I'm just losing my fucking mind at this point.
So I tell my wife, I'm like, can you please go and get tested in?
And for the sexless, and for the sexless couple, I mean, you guys are like literally wearing a badge of
like, you guys fuck all the time and you're fucking all these people.
you're not fucking anybody and here you are riddled with STI that you don't even have it's
kind of interesting do you know like it doesn't make any sense no it doesn't and I was losing my mind
I mean I just like I can imagine thinking I was taking crazy pills so I'm just going about my life I'm
you know I'm spending a lot of time in the garden to give you kind of context we have a large
edible garden so I spend a lot of time out there like you know tending to it and things and this come
you know, come back to like, you know, coming in and masturbating.
So about July, I'm going about my, my day and my dick starts to hurt again.
I'm peeing with the same kind of symptoms that I had when I went on that hike.
And I'm like, well, okay, great.
Here's fucking back again.
So I called a urologist.
Hey, I need set up an appointment.
And he's like, sure, eight weeks out.
Okay.
Because that's how that rolls.
And I go into, after a couple weeks of this, I'm like, oh, shit.
I'm going to go in and get an STI test again.
Oh, my God.
And so I get the standard test at this point and it comes back.
Negative, I know.
Negative, right?
Yeah.
So I then was, so then I saw the urologist.
I'm telling him about it.
And he's like, yeah, it doesn't sound like herpes to me.
And at this point, by the time I saw the urologist eight weeks later, I don't have the symptoms anymore.
He's like, well, come back when you have symptoms.
I'm like, we'll open up a fucking appointment when I have the symptoms.
and I'd be happy to.
But every time I make the appointment, it's like eight weeks later and I go out there's
terrible.
Yeah, terrible.
So I decided to go, you know, a little while later, I decided to go in for an
SDI test because my wife, this is probably like now a year later, she goes, hey, I've got
another little thing, so let's not have sex for a couple weeks until this goes away.
And I was like, can I see it?
Yeah.
Please.
And because I'm a, I'm a nurse.
Oh, you are?
Yeah. Oh my God. How did you not lead with that? This is so interesting. You're fucking nurse.
No, that's important to the story. You're dealing with all doctors and medical people and you happen to work in the field. Oh, my God.
Well, I do now. So when we first met, I didn't. Okay, whatever. So you're a nurse and so you're like, let me examine it.
I'm like, let me see you pussy. Oh, I got, I'm going to turn this for myself. Yeah. So she shows me, I'm like, where is it? She's like, I'm pointing at it. I'm like, no, no, there's nothing there, hon. I'm like, where?
is it? And she's like, it's right here. And I was like, and I touch where she's pointing. I'm like right there.
And she's like, yeah. Is it a skin tag? I don't see anything. What are you feeling? Is it like, is it painful? And she's like, it's like, it's like a grain of sand. And I was like, it's not a great. That's not a great. That's not a grain of sand. It's fucking hurts. It's like, it doesn't feel like that. It's really uncomfortable. It kind of hits. I'm like, okay. I'm going to go get this figured out once and for fucking.
all. And I went down to plant parenthood. Now, I have an amazing nurse practitioner that I work with
the plant parenthood on this whole thing. And she's been the one that of the three or four times
that plant parenthood that have been down there to get tests. She's following this. She's been through
a lot of this with you. In the last, in the last eight years since we moved to this area,
she's been the one following this. Okay. So I said, all right, look, here's the whole history,
right and in here too there was another HSV to test like a subject thing you know you could be part of a thing
they kept rejecting me because they were like well if you're not having active symptoms yeah and I'm telling people
this story over and over and everybody's like oh it's fucking wild and so I talked to the nurse practitioner
I'm like look we got to figure this out and she's like you're right we do need to figure this out now
I'm lucky that she's like a detective she loves this shit right that's like I'm wired that way I get it yeah
yeah she's like we are going to get
to the bottom of this. So she goes back in my charts notes as far back as she can looking at every one of them.
And she's like, all your results are like negative or indeterminate. She's like, first of all, I wouldn't worry about having HSV. It's clear that you don't. But I can't find any notes from that first diagnosis.
Right. Interesting. And I was like, that's exactly what she said. She's like, that's really interesting. Like there should be a very distinct note that says because of this.
here's the result, here's the, it's HSV-2, right?
She gets to the note and she reads it out loud.
And the note in essence said, can't determine the sample has flipped, can't determine whether negative or positive, assuming positive.
What do you mean it flipped, meaning physically flipped or they changed their mind?
What do you mean flipped?
The sample fell?
No. We don't know.
But that's what she was just literally read.
Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm stuck on.
Like what is?
So wait, exactly.
It said the sample flipped.
The sample flipped.
And what she thinks is that it means that it converted.
So she's saying like it came in negative.
It was retested and became positive.
Oh,
flipping positive.
Yeah.
Now go back to that what I told you about the false positives.
20% chance false positive.
Yeah.
The gold standard.
Western Blot test says 99% positive, 1% chance of false positives.
And that's why it's considered the gold standard.
Yet here it is flipping.
And they're just like, I assume it's positive.
Tell the guy it's possible.
Because of 1%.
Because there's a 1% chance that it was, they're so convinced that what they've got
is the gold standard.
It's never fucking wrong.
That's crazy because people, there's a 1% for a fucking reason.
sorry.
It's 1% for reason.
Yeah.
Sorry.
People have fallen into that.
So it exists.
It's a fucking ridiculous that they didn't.
I mean, what medical doctor makes assumptions and doesn't fucking follow numbers and facts and data?
A lot.
I know.
Scary.
Yeah.
I mean, they do this a lot where they're just like, you know, better safe than sorry.
We're an industry of safety.
Mm-hmm.
Right.
And so we always take the safest route.
And I don't blame the guy for anything, but lack of.
of diligence. Like he should have at that time said, we need you to come in for another blood test
to determine because it looks like converted. It was negative and it was positive or assuming it's
positive, but we want to make sure. Like that would have been the, that would have been the
judicious thing to do. Of course. It would have saved me 15 years of losing my fucking mind
over a diagnosis that could or could not be. And back and forth and then all the confusion that
it just added to all this other stuff.
Do you know what I mean?
It always was like lingering there and sort of tainting like, right?
Like, you know, it sort of hangs over all this other stuff that happens too, right?
You have to always go back to that first test and be like, well, that one they said.
And I don't know.
It just, it's like it really kicked you off in like this really horrible direction.
Yeah.
And I think, you know, you said in the beginning, you're like, oh, don't give away the end.
Oh, no, no, no.
I wrote down, just so you know, I wrote down, apologize.
I wanted to apologize because.
this story is not ruined by you're giving it away because it wasn't what I thought it was.
Like you had it 15 years.
You got a call.
You don't have it.
It was not what you said.
So you didn't ruin anything.
I wrote down, apologize.
So I didn't forget.
You didn't ruin the story at all.
I think it made it better that you said that in the beginning.
Good, good.
Yeah, yeah.
But yeah.
So now I'm, now I've, I don't, I'm convinced I don't have it.
Okay.
I need answers, though.
answers. What the fuck is burning your
dick off all the time? Like what is that thing?
Do you have any idea? Have you ever gotten
to the bottom of that? There's a couple
of things that could be going on. And this
is why the gardening is important.
Yeah. I would come in
I would, you know, wash my hands real quick.
I know where you're going with this. Yeah. But I may
have introduced some sort of like garden bacteria
into my urethra. Same with when you were hiking. Do you
jerk off when you were hiking?
No, but
when you're hiking like you're just you know you're not taking a shower for a couple of days i don't know
that one was weird it was during a gardening season and it could have been my hands might have been
dirty prior to going out there and you were and you were camping you were camping yeah yeah i'm always
like campings for dirty people so you're dirty the whole time i mean that's the truth
and i'm a dirty hippie oh yeah my it's the only time i went camping was with my dirty hippie boyfriend
who looked just like the lead singer of the cult he took me camping i was like this is
disgusting. I hated it. I was scared too
that I was going to get murdered in my tent.
I don't like it at all.
I mean, we drove all the way
to Burning Man with so many drugs in the top of
his car that he was like drove in the slow
lane all the time. I'm like, you were the most boring hippie
I've ever met.
We're driving
30 and a 60 lane highway
because he was so paranoid
he was going to get busted. Okay, anyway,
sorry, go on. So that makes
sense. So you think maybe it has to
do with you picking something like
air like you know in your hand or something that would make sense yeah i think so i think that's that's
what happened now the other side of that is that i'm in my mid 40s at this time in in life men can
develop strictures in their urethra oh interesting really stricture just being like it yeah yeah it's
in the urethra the urethra the urethra narrows and then it can cause a pressure and the pressure can
burn like when you're peeing through it so that's what the urologist wanted to look for
we still don't know if it's happened yet we can't get there at the time that it's happening
I don't I have had sex in the past where you know I've fucked for you know done one of those
extended sessions you know five hours six hour kind of like afternoon kind of things yeah and
it you can develop uh oh gosh what's the name of the popes prepopsis where you you're basically get a hard not
hard on and it it damages your
ligaments and tissues and everything that's not
ligaments, but your tissues and your and your
penis. Yeah, interesting. Yeah, and
you have to go to the ER. It's the same
situation if you take too much Viagra.
You know, they say if you have an erection for four
or more hours, go to see the dock.
It's the same, basically the same thing. Yeah.
And I've had that
and it hurt afterwards.
So I was like, man, I don't know. I mean, I don't
walk around gardening with Boner on. So
maybe, I don't know.
You have a lot of things going on with your dick.
Yeah,
kind of.
Think about it.
You ever look into mind-body connection stuff?
I always do.
Why so many problems with your dick?
Do you have problems everywhere else in your body,
or is most of the things happen in that area?
It definitely seems to be a dick issue.
No, but it's a lot of different dick issues.
That's what you had that thing.
No, no, no, no, no.
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Wait, did you have the hard-on problem where you had that proliferation?
No, I just, I just fucked for so long that it hurt afterwards.
Okay.
That the equipment was working then as a guy, you know, as a guy, you wake up,
if you have good blood pressure and a healthy heart, you'll have like three to four boners
a night.
Right.
And you'll wake up with one, right?
And there's been times I sleep on my stomach.
I'm waking up and, you know, I'm not a heavy guy.
I'm like 6 foot 185, 190.
But I'm like pushing on my dick at an angle and it hurts afterwards.
Right.
You know, you're like, oh, God, that was uncomfortable.
So dick issues happen when you got to do.
No, no, no.
And I have to correct myself because I forget, like the whole thing here,
the only dick issues you had, really,
if we want to take them all and put them down a list,
is you had one thing on your dick 15 years ago.
And then after that, you had those two problems with your urethra.
You never, even those other times where you were tested,
you only got tested because your wife got it right.
You had never, did you, or did you present again one other time with something little on there?
I forget.
it never presented with anything other than that your wreaths were pain right so right
once in a while when I got my regular tests I would like just get a STI test just to
confirm and make sure because of my history right so it wasn't so you're not really
riddled no it just seems like you're falling off it's not like hanging on my pubic care
I forgot with all the testing and so I forgot your poor wife is like involved in this and she went
now that time she had that sand did she ever go get tested again and find out that she doesn't
have it. Well, no. And I asked actually my nurse practitioner about it. I said, my wife has this
thing that's like a grain of sand and she said it's another herpes, you know, presentation. And she goes,
no, it's not. What it probably is, what it probably is that she's getting is as women get older,
they sometimes get like an ingrown hair or they get like a little bit of a postural infection of
just like a pimple essentially, right? Yeah, absolutely. And that can hurt and it can be uncomfortable,
but it is not going to feel like a herpes pustral.
So women, if you're out there and you get a little bit of a like a pimple on your lady
or just above your, you know, hers was just above her hood at the top of her vagina, right?
Like just above her clit.
And she had this like little thing going on because of like the mucus and moisture
and bacteria and all sorts of things that can happen down in our genital regions.
She got this little thing.
And it was like it was kind of uncomfortable.
And she thought that maybe it was just to be a safe.
She thought it was a her.
Well, listen, that's what sent me to the doctor where I learned that, oh, news flash, you could literally get STIs with someone touching your dick on the outside.
I had something that looked like a fucking herpes on my vage, you know, a pimple or a herpes.
I didn't know.
I was fucking my booty call guy at the time.
He was a total player.
I would fuck like with the condom.
So I didn't understand why I would have something.
But he would put his dick on the outside with that one.
And I remember going to my gynecologist.
And she was like, oh, yeah, it's just a pimple.
they tested me, they said everything was done.
It was just that and that's all it was.
But I remember, was at that meeting with her that she explained, like, listen, if you really
want to be safe, you should not even have it being touching your outside, right?
Like, because I was thinking, oh, you know, he used a condom when he put, she's like, yeah,
but does he rob on the outside without?
And I was like, yeah.
And she's like, well, you could get her piece from that.
And that's when I learned, like, oh, you got to be safe.
And that's why then I wouldn't let his dick touch any part of me without a condom on it.
because, you know, but I had what your wife.
It was just as it.
It was a pimple.
And it was like, you know, and it was like a pus filled a little bit and stuff.
And it went away and that was like fine.
And I was tested and everything.
And that's all it was.
But she's never gone back just to be tested just to find out that it's wrong.
No.
Basically, her, her assumption is, and I, no, she hasn't.
She's not willing to.
She doesn't want to.
She's not really getting symptoms or presenting them very much.
I think we've had enough of a conversation too
that she's not really sure she's actually got it
and because she's not presenting with any symptoms
because we're married
at this point I've done so much research on
I don't know why I just censored myself
I've done so much fucking research
on herpes that like
if for somehow
for some reason and somehow she ended up with herpes
and I got I'll just take some file cycle
here and call it a day like I'm so over this shit
you know what I mean
take it? No, she doesn't take Valcylvia. She has a bottle of it in case, but she doesn't take it on a daily.
Okay, but she still takes it. I don't understand people. Like if I were, you guys, I would just be going to some other doctor, some other place, the best person I would be asking right now, chat GPT, because it knows everything. Like, who's the fucking doctor I need to go to for once and for all? As a couple, go in, get your fucking test, get your answer, and call it a day. Instead of the,
same people all the fucking time.
Well, they go to the same testing.
So in our region we have
like Quest, I think, testing
and then we have the UW.
It gets the Western Blots. All Western Blots go to
the UW. But like Quest Labs
or whatever, like there's that local
kind of like regional lab
stuff, right? So people will get
they'll all go to the same place anyway.
So it doesn't matter what dock you go to.
They're going to the same labs.
I know, but everybody's going
to look at stuff differently.
there's going to be a there are
listen and I say this about everything
like whether it's your mechanic your hairdresser
your doctor your dog walker
or 80% of the people out there
do their jobs terribly or 90%
they suck at their jobs I don't care what it is
and then you got this top 10%
that are fucking killer you know
there's a doctor out there
that's going to be like your nurse or be like
me that is going to be like
you know what I want to get to the fucking bottom of this
you have an issue here that I
you could go into doctors office with your wife
and say this is what we have been through.
If you present what you presented to me,
there's a doctor out there that would be like,
let's get to the fucking bottom of this.
I know what I'm going to do.
Give me your data.
I'm going to test you again.
Like there's got to be someone else that could come in
and sort of like figure it out.
Somebody like that's a detective because I don't feel like you know anything
at this point still.
Well, at this point, so I did go in to see my ARMP,
my nurse practitioner.
going through her notes and seeing that like it converted.
So we're just going to assume it's positive from that first.
So now you're ending with this,
a conversation with you actually have herpes?
No,
no,
no, no,
no, no.
Remember when I said,
I went to my nurse practitioner,
we looked at the notes and that initial note from that initial diagnosis.
Yeah,
I get it.
But you just said just now,
she looked through your notes and said,
let's just go with the diagnosis of what?
No,
no, no,
no.
The person who wrote the note,
it flipped assuming positive.
blah blah blah so and then went through the whole thing of like having multiple tests where I'd been as low as 0.05
if I had any with a specificity test so there's that you know point 91 less than 0.91 and then sometimes
it's actually it's it is less than 0.01 because it's 0.05 like the last time I got a test was 0.05 and that's where I was like there's no
there is literally no possible way I have herpes and it's resulting in that because
the virus is just not going to show up as 0.05.
Like that it's just,
if you have it,
it's going to be way higher than that,
even if you're not presenting.
So I don't have it,
but I,
I totally agree with you.
If you are having confusion around this,
because you've had a positive,
but you've never had any symptoms
and you're not taking Valcyclovir,
and you're kind of wanting to find out more about it,
go and get a test,
get multiple tests,
maybe like get the blood test,
get that drawn,
get the Western blood test,
and then talk with a provider that is willing to look at the test with you
and really talk to you about your diagnosis, what your symptoms are,
and if you actually have it.
Because with that high rate of false positives,
there's a high chance that you got a false positive,
much less like the chance that you got a false negative,
but even the negatives are 10%.
So herpes is something that gets a stigma.
it's very difficult to diagnose or determine, I would say, with like a blood test.
It's just they're not that accurate.
So keep an eye on like the tingling, keep an eye on the symptoms, keep an eye on your partners.
You know, be as safe as you can, whether you're raw dog in it or you're using a condom.
You know, have sex with people that you trust and do your best.
But if you do end up with herpes, there's valkyclivir out there.
There are ways to manage it.
And there's other ways to manage your herpes too.
Like if you're a very stressed out person and you have herpes,
it's going to manifest more.
Of course, yeah.
That's like a herpes on your mouth.
That's same shit with herpes on your mouth.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a stress indicator, right?
Because your nervous system's on fire.
Yeah, your immune system goes down, right?
Yeah, and it's immune system.
If you're immunocompromised, it definitely can present more.
If you have herpes and you have sex with postules,
you have an increased chance of HIV infection as well.
or transmitting HIV.
So if you have HIV and HSV,
then in you're having sex unprotected while you have postules,
there's a really high chance of you infecting somebody else with HIV.
So you've got to be careful of that.
But long story short, it's got this big stigma around it.
Lots of false positives.
If you've been told once that you have herpes,
keep in mind there's that 20% false positive rate.
Go get checked again.
And, you know, love yourself and love your lovers.
Oh, my God.
I want to tell Nate and his crazy, the craziest herpes stories you ever heard.
I don't know.
I have to make sure I title this as interesting as it is.
To me, it's fascinating this whole story.
It's super packed with such interesting information, right?
Besides the roller coaster ride, you had to go on.
I mean, because you went on that, and maybe because you're a nurse, you wind up being, like,
extremely educated on herpes.
I think I said that beforehand.
Like, oh, if you don't have it, like, are we going to, like, do you have anything
in talking about it?
You're like, oh, no, I really do.
I mean, you fucking know everything about it.
So it's like so fascinating and interesting to me.
This is like a great story.
I am so happy you emailed me.
Did you email me to share this?
Like, I don't know how I found it.
Yeah, this is such a great thing.
I do my sexual health Saturday stuff because I'm like obsessed with health stuff.
Like, obviously.
I'm like, you know what I could talk?
I could keep like, I just still want you to go to the doctor and find out everything.
and I want to look at your data and I want to find a doctor for you.
You know what I mean?
I want this.
I want to be the one to figure it out because I'm interested in this stuff anyway.
It's so fascinating to me.
And I do believe it helps people.
So I feel like it's such a great episode because it's no offense.
Your story is an, you know, we didn't have to.
I don't, I'm not on the ride.
I mean, I feel for you and your wife, but it is an interesting story to hear.
Sorry.
You know, it's so crazy.
You know, you're going through it, which isn't cool and everything, but it isn't.
interesting story, but what's most important is it's a very informative episode, not just
like what you stated about it, but that, like, all the stats about how, like, there could be
other people out there that might hear this episode and be like, maybe I should go get tested
again.
Like, what kind of test did I have?
Was it the standard?
Was it a swab?
You know what I mean?
Like, I feel like it could actually help some people.
So thank you, Nate, for calling in.
This was like fascinating.
If you ever find out what was giving you that stabbing pain, for real, like for a definite diagnosis,
let me know.
I think it'll be interesting to find out.
You know, because listen, if you had it, I mean, did you ever Google or ask Chat ChTPT?
I think Chad Chupit knows everything.
Did you ever like, I'm sure if you've had it, other guys have, you know, so there's got to be people talking about it, you know?
Yeah, it's chat TPT.
I said, yo, I got this thing going on with my rethreat hearts and they said, stop fucking your garden, bro.
Yeah.
Your chat Chbett is different than mine.
Mine knows I like facts.
It would have said a lot more to me.
No, my chat GPD, I haven't asked it.
I've been kind of sticking with the docs on that one.
Oh, you're joking.
Oh, my God.
You act as if chat chat.
Just go ask it.
Trust me.
I have put in all my like, my ups and downs with the standardized test.
Yeah.
Here's my results.
And chat GPD is like, you know, I'm not a doctor, but you, according to statistics,
you don't have HSV too.
Yeah, that's interesting.
And I really wish I had, I really wish I have had.
social chav GPT early on.
I think I could have like saved myself a lot of trouble.
Docs a lot of times want to be right and they want to be safe.
Oh yeah, for sure.
Yeah, of course.
Yeah.
It was something I didn't mention and I'll just kind of leave it on this because
a little cliffhanger made before an update later.
I last time I went in for a Western Blot test, I waited a month and I didn't get any
call back and finally they called me back and they said, hey, we need you to come in again.
This was just recently too.
This was like, right, I think this was the day I emailed you because I lost my mind.
and then I saw your call out for STI Saturdays.
When I got off their call and on that call they said,
Kathy, I'm not even kidding you,
we need you to come in again because there's a chance
that your sample defrosted on the way to the lab
and that's going to give us a false reason.
Oh my God.
I can't believe you're even bringing this up now when I got to go.
You're crazy.
This is insane.
Ridiculous.
Ridiculous.
I don't know.
I don't know.
It's crazy.
so be diligent on your testing.
Be diligent on your testing.
Oh yeah, no, I'm like one of those people that don't believe anyone, even if they're a doctor,
I don't fucking care.
I always like double check everything and stuff.
I mean, not that people, they don't know anything.
They know all tons, but the sad thing is and the important thing is I think that everyone
always has to advocate for themselves at the end of the day on top of everything, always.
And nowadays you can.
There's so much information online and everything, you know, you could get a second opinion,
a third opinion.
I think you always have to double check and triple check.
It's super important.
you know, there you go. Thanks, Colin. Thanks so much for calling in and sharing your story. It was super
interesting.
My pleasure, Kathy. Thanks for having me on. Bye. Bye.
Okay. I just want to tell you before you go that I do have a book. The book is called
Shickley Non-Mas Confessions, Secret Sex Lives of Total Strangers. The book is basically 17 different
stories taken from my show. I kind of picked one story from each category that I talk about
on my show. Like, there's a hot wife story. There's a cuck queen story. There's a cuckold story.
There's a gang-bang girl story.
There's like I said, 17 stories.
And they're all told in the third person, right?
So I took the interview and I rewrote it in the third person.
I wouldn't call it like an erotica book, though there's plenty of sex in there, right?
But I didn't write it to sound like erotica because that's like the vibe of my show.
You're going to learn a lot.
You're probably going to get a little turned on.
It's a different way to hear these stories, like I said, because they're written out in third person.
There's an e-book available if you don't want your partner to know that you're reading my book.

Okay, I just want to tell you before you go that my book,

Secret Sex Lives of Total Strangers,
is now available not only in paperback and ebook,
but you can pre-order the,
audio book. It's still not going to be out until August 25th, but you can pre-order it. The book is
basically 17 different stories taken from my show. I kind of picked one story from each category
that I talk about on my show. Like there's a hot wife story. There's a cuck queen story. There's a
cuck story. There's a gang-being girl story. Like I said, 17 stories. And they're all
told in the third person, and they're all true. I took the interview and rewrote it.
in the third person. And I wouldn't really call it like a total erotica book. Think like penthouse
letters. It's more direct. It's not so over the top like erotica. I don't really like that kind of
vibe, right? But these are true stories. 17 of them. They're really short chapters, easy read.
You could read one or two and then skip around. You could read the whole book. It's available in
eback format, paperback format. And finally, the audiobook is available.
