All right, everyone. Welcome back to subpar.
Colt-nosed Drew Stoltz.
Getting ready to recap the Memorial Tournament,
the 50th playing at Jack's Place.
And what a freaking week that was.
J.T. Posting, James Tyree posted.
That's right.
Friend of the program.
Having a pretty terrible year, to be honest, before this week.
But he outlasted Ryan Gerard in a playoff.
In what was, in my opinion, one of the best Sundays we've had on the PGA tour all season.
A little five way to, I thought for a while,
I was like, we might have a super playoff here coming down the stretch.
And it was a nice mix of the leaderboard, like JT, who, if you had JT's name on your short list going into the week last week.
You didn't.
You lie.
You're lying.
Or you're the smartest person in the world.
Like, there was really no top 20s on the season.
You look at his stats.
It's all kind of just blah.
I mean, it's not terrible, but it's just not like what the thing that stands out is is putting.
He's been one of the best putters on the PJ tour for a while, or I consider him at least that.
And it's been not great.
It's funny you say that.
So I looked it up.
So strokes game putting,
201, he was second.
Yeah.
And then he went to,
I believe,
41st, then 29th,
and then down to like 80,
then 100, 110.
So he's like getting worse
pretty much every single year
on the PGA tour.
He switched putters at Colonial,
put in the tailor-made spider,
also switched golf balls,
which helped him a lot.
I guess he was struggling
in cross-wins with his irons,
but went out there,
and the first three days,
I mean,
it was just an absolute joke.
Stripe show made everything
he looked at,
and then the Sunday pressure.
I thought he was going to lose it there for a while.
And then what a comeback, Bertie,
and three of the last five.
I got that shot on 18.
Was that a little eight iron in there?
Beautiful.
Right underneath the hole makes that one when he had to make it.
I mean, shout out Ryan Gerard, the putt on 17.
I was like, that's going to be the one that does it right there.
That was wild.
He looked good.
I was curious to see him down the stretch or a golf course like that.
Everyone sees the strong grip and all these things,
but just like how that holds up because it's,
I can get away from you quick.
And he, I mean, dude, T shots he hit on 18 coming down the stretch, everything.
He looked really damn good.
He's a player, man.
The distances he's hit, they're like, he's got 144 here to the back left pin.
This is a sand wedge.
The clubs he's hitting is, he's hitting wedged from like 170.
So we're on the range at Colonial.
In Ohio.
And Doddy and I are talking to him.
And he's like, hey, like, you'll get signals.
He goes, they're right.
He goes, I hit my iron's crazy far.
And I was like, okay, whatever.
He's de-lofted, like, crazy, but I don't care.
Oh my God. He's hitting two clubs less than most of the guys. It's insane. It's not something you'd teach. I believe he said, you know, Adam Scott's swing looks like the Mona Lisa. His looks like graffiti on the side of a bridge, which was a great analogy, by the way. I love that. It's not something you would teach, but it's really damn effective. He's turning into hell of the player, but I'm so pumped for JT and Flaner. That was a huge win for them. It would have been a stressful year. But just so exciting coming down on the stretch. I mean, Muirfield Village always plays difficult. If we wouldn't have got that rain.
There's no telling what would have won.
Rough was nasty.
Crowds were incredible.
I mean, it's Jack Nicholas' tournament.
It's supposed to be special.
But, you know, that was my first time in the booth over there, Slees, at the Memorial
tournament.
And it was pretty cool, man.
Like, I appreciate everything like we get to experience in this job and everything.
We do some cool stuff.
But we were there on Saturday.
And, you know, Frank and I are in our chairs right here sitting across from Nance and
Trevor.
And all of a sudden, Mr. Nicholas walks in.
And he's literally leaning on the back of my chair, looking over my chair,
looking over my shoulder watching the golf coverage as I'm broadcasting and I'm like
don't say anything stupid.
Don't say anything stupid.
Cool is this right now.
I mean the goat right here just literally leaning on my shoulder basically watching the
golf and he was in there Saturday and Sunday and getting to spend time with him and
Mrs.
Nicholas as well.
Just so cool, man.
I just,
I don't get why this stuff happens to us, but it's really cool.
Yeah,
no doubt about it.
That's pretty sick.
Nervous.
Yeah,
a little bit.
Hey, Mr.
Nicholas.
I'm going to go call this eight iron here.
Correct me if I'd fucking.
anything up.
I did.
It's the best non-major, I think.
I love that golf course.
And especially because it's Jack's place,
he can set it up however he wants it.
It's a perfect,
generish-ish fairways.
You got enough room to airways,
but if you don't hit it, problems, it's hard.
Greens are all time.
You miss in the wrong spot.
You got no chance.
It just feels like a little baby major
in terms of like the course set up.
I mean, J.T. got off the course on Friday.
I was like,
that was like the hardest run of golf I've ever played before.
And I was like,
I couldn't wait to see.
what the weekend looked like at that point.
But I think they think they do an awesome job.
If anything, he teeters it towards like being too hard at times.
But dude, you're playing for 20 million bucks.
Like, these are the best players in the world.
It's okay to have it be hard a few times a year.
I loved it.
And there's no, like, JT came out of left field, but like he beat everybody.
And there's no, you don't fluke it around Murfield Village.
No.
You just can't.
Like, all the other wins he's had, his other three are,
like shootout 20 plus unders because he's a great putt you know when he gets the putter going he makes a ton
wind him he didn't make a bogey was it john deer in Vegas this is totally different yeah it was impressive
man it was just it was so fun coming down that back nine i mean windham was up there uh Tommy fleet
wood Sam burns obviously had had a great chance but going back to mr nicholas you mentioned
don't say anything stupid so the 13th hole was one of mine and sam burns hit this terrible sand wedge
that spun off the front of the green.
And I did get a little nervous
because I threw it to Mr. Nicholas.
I was like, Mr. Nicholas, in my opinion,
like, this green runs front to back.
You'd actually want to hit it past the hole here.
I was like, dear God, I hope he agrees with me.
Well, no, you're fucking idiot.
That's why you're talking about it.
He, thank God, he agreed with me,
but I was like, oh, my God,
that could have gone terribly wrong.
Never given an opinion.
Never given an opinion.
But it's an awesome week.
You will be proud of me.
Only had a half of milkshake.
I'm a little disappointed in that.
I know.
They brought him up to the tower every day.
They let us order whatever we wanted.
You do that strawberry Oreo thing?
Yeah, I think I was like too excited for it.
I was so, because everybody just raves about it.
I mean, it was good.
It wasn't like, holy shit, I got to have seven of these.
How did the golf go with Wagyu?
Not good for Mr. Wagyu.
Playing the golf club.
Damn.
Shout out to our man, TJ, Tommy Miles as well.
Money Miles.
We had an awesome day.
Team bet, myself and TJ played Tom Miles and Wagyu push.
all day around.
It was a battle,
played at the golf club,
which is a phenomenal
Pete died golf course.
Waggou got slapped around.
Okay.
It can happen.
It's now eight and three.
It can happen.
It can happen.
All right.
A lot of golf left.
Stay the course.
Not a lot of golf left.
Maybe borderline time to start panicking.
Yeah.
We're taking this week off.
We're not taking the sticks to Canada.
Yeah.
That's good.
Domestic only.
This is coming up weekend 10 in a row for us.
Yeah.
We're on a little fumes.
I love you to dad.
you look like you're about to die in an hour.
So maybe take the week off.
Yeah, I mean, it was a tough week,
which I'll get to it a little bit, obviously.
But it's just, it's been a long stretch.
At 8 a.m. out of Columbus this morning,
they got freaking delayed.
So I was up at six and, of course, you know, travel issues.
That's what happens.
But it's been a long day already.
So, yes, I'm a little tired.
Thank you for calling my parents out.
I'll tell you, yeah.
But I'm here.
It's a mostly audio show.
You are here.
I'll tell you who's an enormous win for JT
could be career changing.
But, I mean, no one happens.
happier than Aaron Fleener, who was about to go 33 holes yesterday around that joint.
And then when I had golf's longest day, today, 36 holes.
I mean, dude, in your field, by the way, that's a hike.
Yeah.
That is probably one of the harder.
It's up and down.
It's long, spread out.
And then to have to go back to back with that, 36.
Did you see my picture?
I posted at him on the ground.
I mean, there's no.
Now he just gets sleep in, count his money.
Yeah.
As opposed to getting up, waking and carrying that thing.
I mean, he had to walk probably 16 miles yesterday.
I went out with him.
Sunday night to try to celebrate a little bit
and he just, he was gassed.
He had nothing in the tank.
He didn't even want to sing.
That's when you know he's tired.
That's when you know he's tired.
But congrats to them, man.
I'm pumped for him.
Also, Nelly Corta, when a U.S. Women's Open at Riviera.
Clutch two-puck.
Oh, my God, the freaking little two and a half footer.
I don't know how it went in.
I don't think, I think she shocked it went in,
but it hit the bottom of the cup.
She wins another major, her fourth career major,
and she is just, she's a problem.
Did you see the footage of it from the drone?
I watched it on the coverage, all that sort of stuff,
and then apparently there was a drone up there from above.
And it looks like, I mean, when it's rolling off the face,
like this Mike Gray's left lip, and then somehow it went in.
Best thing that could have happened,
probably for Women's Golf, Nellie Court,
to win that thing also in a battle with Charlie Hole down the stretch,
who's awesome.
Last thing on that, my takeaway of the week,
watched a good bit of it.
the more they can get of Mel Reed talking golf, being around golf, anything they can do,
that's a superstar right there in her own.
She's coming out, like, more of her.
She's knowledgeable.
She's funny.
The players like, like, she's a star.
You would love her.
I do love.
She's a cobra Puma.
Like, we hang out during the shoot.
She's my partner in this last thing.
She just moved up to the Fort Collins.
Yep, she did.
Yeah.
She is a future guest on subpar.
We talked about it, the PGA Championship.
her, myself, and Wagu
had a Sunday evening together after the PGA.
It was special.
She's a great thing.
She likes to go.
She's fantastic.
Got her job.
Yeah, big,
Melry fan.
Yeah, good week for them, though.
And Rive looks sick.
By the way,
Rive in the summer.
Yeah.
A little different than in February,
huh?
Well, we got the Olympics in 28 there.
And then the 2013, I believe.
The 231, U.S. Open.
Sure.
Which will be summertime.
Did you hear Mr. Neckleson at some point.
Press conference when they talked about,
I believe, the 2045 U.
U.S. Open is going to Inverness there in Ohio.
Good. I was wondering where that 2045 was going to go.
He goes, 2045?
And he goes, have a good tournament.
That was awesome.
What a great week in the golf world.
Now we're on to the RBC Canadian Open Slays.
He'll be heading up to Toronto on Friday.
TPC Toronto, it's an hour and a half outside of Toronto.
That bothers me.
TPC quasi-Toronto.
Yes.
Because Toronto is a fantastic city.
I wish we were back at Glen Abbey where it's very close.
to downtown there.
But the crowds will come out.
The Canadians are very, they love their golf.
We got Wagu and Amanda
doing the wrinkle, which I normally have done
in the past. And I've always made it a point
to wear a hockey jersey of somebody they hate,
except for when I wore Mike Commodores,
Jersey, the first drag in.
He is.
I need you to weigh in on this.
I'm trying to get Waggou. Look, he's a proud American.
The United States of America
beat Canada in the Olympics.
You want a Team USA jersey?
Jack Hughes.
The golden goal.
I'm like,
Wagyu,
how are we not rocking this jersey on Saturday at the rink?
He's like,
I don't want to get booed.
I'm like, dude,
they all love you.
They love you anyways,
Wagyu.
You can wear anything.
Wagyu,
I think we need to overnight this jersey
and you need to rock it.
You'll look fantastic in it.
All right.
We'll see what he comes out with.
All right.
Well,
this episode is sponsored by Kalshi,
the largest prediction market in the United States.
Here's what makes Kalshi different.
You are not playing against a house.
Kalshi is peer-to-peer trading.
You buy a yes or no
contract on whether something will happen and you're trading directly against other users.
Think of it like buying or selling a stock. The line isn't set by some algorithm working against
you. It's moved based on where the money goes. Public opinion sets the price. Right now,
Scotty Sheffler is trading at 14% for the U.S. Open next week, meaning a $100 trade,
pays out $606 with a correct prediction. And as that probability shifts, you can buy in or
out of your position at any time to lock in a profit or cut a loss.
Kalshi is C-F-T-C-approved, federally regulated, which is why it's available all across the
country, including California and Texas.
Download the Kalshi app and use code subpar to get $20 when you trade $20.
That's K-A-L-S-H-I-Couche.
Put your money where your prediction is.
All right.
That's what I'm doing.
Not our best week.
So we didn't predict too well at Muirfield Village.
RBC Canadian Open.
with our top 20 prediction who we going with.
I feel very good about this one.
Top 20.
Justin Rose, 10th of the PGA, 12th Memorial,
hitting it really,
hasn't even been putting it good.
And he's had some good finishes.
Those McLarence are starting to do their job for him.
But top 20 out there,
I feel very, very good about that one.
Playing good golf right now.
All right.
It needs to put a little bit.
Our top 10 prediction,
speaking of needing to make some putts.
Our top 10 prediction,
we're going to,
big bad Brooks,
I think the time is coming.
I mean, he's, he's, he's been playing.
It's been close.
He just hasn't put it all together.
I think this could be the week, RBC Canadian Open.
Yeah, he's been like at the top or near the top in like strokes games categories.
It's just not making anything.
Yeah.
So get that putter hot.
And then heading back to Shini.
Yes.
All right.
And for our winner this week, guy who lost in a playoff here last year,
Dam near got it done at the Memorial.
He is starting to play some really good golf.
And he has no problem with the putter.
Sam Burns.
He has no problem with the drive.
It looks like he's swinging the driver
hurried than I've ever seen.
It looks like he's trying to hit
as hard as they can on every hole
and it goes.
It fades like four yards.
He looked good off the T
at Memorial, big time.
Do you see his son,
Bear on Saturday on the coverage?
I mean, that kid could walk
through a crowded mall and I'd be like,
that's Sam Burns' kid.
Yeah.
It is mini-meet.
I know who the daddy is.
Yeah.
We don't need Mori for that one.
We do not.
But, all right.
So Burns, Kepka, Rose.
Make sure you go download the Kalshi app.
Follow along.
with us. Let's get some good predictions going.
Yep. Time to get hot before major season.
Yeah. All right. This next part's a little tough for me.
We lost a teammate this past weekend.
Bryce Adair, one of the best dudes I've ever met, other than being a Philadelphia Eagle fan,
passed away tragically from some injuries suffered in a car wreck Wednesday night.
They're outside of Columbus, Ohio.
Like I said, one of the best dudes.
He was always there, always smiling.
Love him to death.
Like I said, I've never met a nicer human.
He was loved.
It hit our team very hard.
We love you.
We're going to miss you.
Yeah.
Saw the tribute that you guys did over there.
I thought Jim Nance did a great job with it.
Shocking, devastating, all the things.
But you could tell how much he meant to the CBS family.
So here's his family, thoughts and prayers, and all you guys at CBS.
That's a tough one.
Yeah, very tough, man.
Like I said, we love you.
We'll miss you.
All right.
I hate those things.
But let's get to our guests.
this week who has been on an absolute tear, and it continued this past week at the Memorial.
Alex Fitzpatrick joins us on subpar.
All right.
Our guest today has been a busy man in 2026.
He picked up his first win on the DP World Tour just a few weeks later, backed it up with
a win on the PGA Tour at the Zurich Classic, became a full exempt member of the PGA
tour, and then went out and had back-to-back top tens at signature events.
After a little time off, well-deserved, Alex Fitzpatrick joins us.
How are we doing, Alex?
I'm good, I'm good, thank you guys for having me on.
It's nice to be here.
Yeah, got it, man.
Congrats on the great play.
It's been so much fun to watch.
You just had two weeks off.
Has it kind of all settled in now, like what you have accomplished?
I would say yes.
I would say it took a little bit of time for it to sink in.
I guess it was weird because we'd obviously, we'd won the Zorik,
and then it was like straight into playing more tournaments.
I really didn't have any time to think about anything.
It was more just kind of like playing,
trying to play more good golf, really.
So it was nice to have a bit of a break.
But by the time I had a week off,
I think I was ready to get back into it.
Yeah, I mean, life changes so much.
Like you're supposed to hop on a flight that night after Zurich.
All of a sudden, boom, you're in the next signature events.
You got the PGA championship.
What kind of stuff like outside the golf course has changed for you?
I mean, your whole life's been turned upside down.
Your schedule for the remainder of the year just completely changed.
What all have you had to handle, like, outside of golf?
Well, the really nice thing for me now is, like, I actually am looking at a base of where I'm going to live.
I felt like in Europe, it was – I had my home in Sheffield in England and where my parents live,
and I just never really had my own space, whereas now I'm – you know, I've got an opportunity to find somewhere that I really like and spend time there.
And also just, like, the flying aspect.
texted one of my friends yesterday.
I was on a flight from New York to Columbus, Ohio.
And I was like, normally I'm on like a seven and a half, eight-hour flight by now.
And instead, I'm jumping on flight that's an hour and a half.
So it makes my life a little easier.
Yeah, going from New Orleans to Miami instead of Turkey,
had to be a nice relief.
No offense to Turkey.
But Miami, and also, play for $20 million, sounds a little better.
Yeah, I can't deny that.
It does sound a lot better.
No offense, all our turkey list.
Yeah, we're actually huge in Turkey.
No, 100%.
No.
Big up to a guy.
Turkey's a great place.
What?
For you, I mean, I know you played some PJ tour events before.
You played the Zurich Classic with your brother before that.
And I know you played the Vowse Bar, but now you're starting to get in a little rhythm of playing on the PGA tour.
What would you say the biggest difference or maybe the most shocking thing for you has been just getting around to go play and playing all these great events?
I think the biggest difference for me has been,
I mean, the people you're playing against is arguably the biggest difference.
You're playing against, you know, like Scotty Schaeffler and Rory on a weekly basis,
and that definitely takes a little bit of time to get used to.
But, you know, I feel like I've been very lucky growing up,
obviously having my brother around and my brother being who he is,
I feel like I know a lot of these guys out here.
So I felt like I was really comfortable from the get-go.
But I would say the only other.
the kind of thing I would say is different is just like the green complexes. I feel like they're
a little more severe out here and they're faster green. So it just takes a little bit of time to
get adjusted to that. I feel like in Europe, the greens are a little flatter with less undulation.
So you can kind of maybe be a little more aggressive with your puts, whereas here it feels like
a lot of the time you're just trying to leg it up close. Yeah, and you're seeing most of these
places for the first time, which is also a challenge when you first get out on the PGHA.
Speaking of fast greens, you got some this week up there at Muirfield.
Village, which I know you got to see today.
I mean, those are some wild green complexes there.
Yeah, I did some putting this morning, and I think I averaged about four feet past
for the whole entire hour I was on the putting green.
So my coach was there.
He was like, why are you hitting them so hard?
I'm like, it's not my fault.
They're rolling at like 13.
So, this place is amazing.
I've always wanted to be here for the longest time, and mainly for the milkshakes,
but obviously for the golf as well.
so yeah you tried one get them yet yeah what do we go with i i tried i had a natella milkshake
this morning well the midday um probably closer to morning but uh i couldn't help myself i'd
heard such good things i was like i got to i got to give it a go so it was uh it was as good as
they say it is that's what's the bucky the bucky's the ohio thing that's what they're
yeah that's like the popular one or the one they're known for those that don't know like in the locker
room, they have a whole milkshake station and a menu.
I mean, they take it very serious up there.
Yeah, I had about 1,500 calories and then felt the need that I should probably burn it off.
So I went to the gym afterwards.
That's dedication.
Tough week, tough week if you're on a diet.
But going back to like, you're playing all these golf courses for the first time.
You're seeing these new greens, you know, you don't know where the pins are going to be because you haven't played it before.
finishing back to back top tens in the signature events right after the Zurich.
Like, did you feel any pressure to go out and play well to prove to everyone that, like, hey,
this is the tour I belong on?
You know, I felt like there was a little bit of pressure to go out and ensure my game is good enough.
You know, like every golfer, I want to be on the PJ tour.
And I felt like my game belonged there.
So I, that's why when you asked about sinking in, I guess it took.
took it didn't take as long as I thought, and I don't know if that's because maybe I feel
so comfortable out here now. But yeah, I, yeah, I was happy with, I was super happy with how
I played the two weeks. And, you know, even going into Sunday in Charlotte, like, I felt
really comfortable. I didn't really feel any pressure to go out and win. You know, I don't
think many people expected me to be in the last group on Sunday. So,
But I also felt like my game is in a really good spot,
and I felt like I had a good chance to win.
So I had just a rough start, but I gave it everything I had,
and hopefully one of these times it'll go my way.
Yeah, I mean, you played fantastic those two weeks after winning the Zurich.
And you mentioned like some of the people you're playing against or with.
You mentioned Rory Scottie.
I believe the first two days at Miami, you got to play with the great Siwu Kim.
Yeah, that was fun.
He's a really nice.
guy. I didn't know what to expect. I know I've seen some, some clips, and I've heard Justin Thomas
talk about his song that he has about him. But yeah, he was great to play with. We had a good time.
He's the best, man. You got to get to know him. He is absolutely hilarious.
Before we get back to Alex Fitzpatrick, a quick note from Truest Bank. The walk-off home run,

Truest Bank, member FDIC. Now, back to Alex.
Are there any other dudes, Alex, like, I mean, you know a ton of these guys just from growing up, playing, playing on the PJ tour also.
But anyone you've gotten to know or played with maybe that you didn't really know prior to getting your card that you've walked away with,
either being a impressed with their game or being like,
oh, this is a really cool guy, I had no idea.
That's a great question.
I would say, I feel like because I've been around these guys for so long,
I wasn't really, I felt like I knew everyone's game.
The person that really stood out,
even though I'd played with him before,
but Adam Scott I played with on maybe Saturday of Miami,
and I was like, wow, this is, it was so impressive.
just hit it a long way his irons were close putted well i think he shot i mean he shot eight under
which was like a course record so like it's gonna it's gonna be impressive but he was the only one
for me that i looked at and was like wow that is seriously impressive yeah that golf and it looks
pretty good too yeah i want to go i want to go back to the ziric alex because heading in
obviously you're you're not a member of the pj tour but y'all are still one of the favorites
to win the golf tournament and then you put yourself in position on sunday take us through
that Sunday what it was like because look I'll be honest I was on the call I thought you
carried Matt pretty much for the most part on the back nine but I would love to know about
your nerves going into that Sunday knowing everything that was on the line and then also
obviously the bunker shot Matt hit on 18 yeah it's funny I actually had this conversation
with Matt um a couple days ago because I didn't really so I asked him in the morning I was like
on Sunday I was like how did you sleep and he was like uh slept like a log I was like how the hell
you sleep so well.
Like I didn't sleep at all.
I was so nervous.
And I was really,
I was probably nervous until the first three holes are out the way.
And he said,
I thought he was going to be fine.
But there was,
there was a lot more pressure on his shoulders than there was mine.
That's,
that's for sure.
So I asked him walking down the fairway,
I was,
sorry,
I asked him after the round,
I was like,
did you,
were you nervous?
And he was like,
after the second hole,
he said he couldn't,
he turned to his caddy and was like,
I can't believe how nervous I am.
Which I didn't realize.
I mean,
we played,
really well for the first 12 holes or 11 holes.
And then we tried our best to give it away.
But yeah, it was, I felt like I played really nicely.
I felt like I tried to keep us in it as much as possible.
But yeah, that bunker shot will go down is probably the best shot I may ever see.
So with everything on the line and if you thin it a little bit, it's through the back
and we're making a bogey, it was incredible.
When it took off, when it took off and it was in the air and you're over to the side,
Did you think it was a little thin or did you think, okay, this thing's about to rip?
I had no idea because it came off the club phase and my caddy went, oh, sit.
So I was like, oh, no.
And then it hit the green and then it spun sideways.
And I think you can see me on video.
Like, I've got my head in my hands.
I'm like, I can't believe what I've just watched.
And then walking up the green, I'm like, well, is it close enough for me to tap in or could I still miss this?
But yeah, it was incredible.
I've got goosebumps thinking about it now.
but it was just, you know,
he's been in a lot of high-pressure moments already
in his golfing career,
but I can't imagine there was much more than, you know,
if we get up and down,
your brother, it changes your brother's life.
So, yeah, I'm forever in appreciation and in debt, probably.
Yeah, I'm not, I wasn't shocked that he hit it close.
Like, he's so good, he's so good under pressure.
I mean, shit, he just hit the four iron at Harbor Town.
Like, I wasn't shocked that he hit close.
I was shocked, though, that it flew all the way,
that he played it that way and not like the chunk and run conservative for all the reasons that
we just said but i'll tell you this i'm not sure that i don't know i don't think that was the best
chip played uh in that final round that the flop shot you hit on what was it 13 yeah 13 was like
that's got to be i mean is that the best shot you've ever hit that thing was disgusting out of that
bermuda it's uh it definitely was a shot that went really unnoticed i don't think people
kind of understood how hard that shot was and i was i couldn't play it into the bank because
it was so ingrained that it wouldn't bump up
up and then like if I flew it more than two foot on the green it was going to 15, 20 foot
pass.
So it was really the only shot I had.
And I feel like I've always been, I'm better at short-sided shots than I'm at long-sided
shot.
So I felt pretty comfortable in terms of like being able to maybe pull it off.
But under the, obviously, the circumstances, it was definitely a lot harder than what
it should have been.
But yeah, I've, you know, I was super happy with the way I play.
played at to hit that shot and then the one on 17 like i couldn't feel my hands on the 17th
t so i was just happy that it was on grass rather than water so uh yeah it was you know it was
amazing was there any type of celebration i know i don't think matt's the biggest part of here
i don't know you quite as well was there any celebration in new orleans sunday night there
there was actually not um i went to sleep at probably 4 a m um but there wasn't a drop of alcohol
consumed. It was literally just, I was running on pure adrenaline. I really ran on pure adrenaline all up
until Sunday at the PGA. I was walking up the first fairway with my caddy. And I was like, wow,
my legs are shot. My legs are so tired. But yeah, no party. And I'm afraid. I'm hopefully go see
some friends at some point in the near future and can celebrate everything with them.
how how different are you and matt like often like i know you know he documents every she's probably the
most meticulous like note taker that i've ever heard of and golf you're not like that are there any
other things where you guys are actually like have some common ground probably not maybe the fact
we support sheffield united a lot but um there you know i i still record every i've been recording
every shot since i would think i was like 16 or something so i've been doing it a long time but
he um the the way he goes about it and how and the detail he goes into is is on a different level than
anything i've ever seen um and obviously i feel like i'm i'm as close as it gets to seeing what
he does and and how he goes about things but yeah it's it's pretty intense and you know for me if
i was i don't think i would be on the pj tour if i did the things that he did um which i think
is is nice because we're so different so um but other than other than that like we're very very
different people.
But yeah, hopefully we're also just two normal kids who grew up in England.
That's just kind of how we are and how we grew up.
And I felt like my parents and friends have always kept us grounded.
And him being the older brother, like how much through your career going through
Challenge Tour, DP World Tour, now obviously getting to the PGA Tour, how much did you pick
his brain?
I picked his brain a little bit, I would say.
It was more him probably telling me that I should do this or do that.
It was very much a big brother, little brother relationship,
whereas I must admit that like this year, the past couple of years,
it's definitely got, we've definitely got closer.
But even since the Zorik, like being able to actually spend some time with him,
I mean, I would go six months maybe without seeing him.
at time. So, like, to be able to spend kind of each week with him has been really nice and
refreshing. And, you know, as much as brothers fight, like, I never really saw my brother.
So it was nice to actually be there with him and talk to him about things and actually
spend time with him for one. So it's actually being more on the pleasant side than,
than not.
We're going to take a break from Alex Fitzpatrick to tell you about the USGA. At some point,

Now back to Alex Fitzpatrick.
Things have moved so fast for you, Alex.
Like rewind.
I was looking back, like late in the season last year on the DP World Tour.
You were grinding to hold on your card out there.
What's the biggest change that's taken place from,
just take your golf game,
from your golf game at that point to where you are now.
Yeah, I don't know.
I know we've both,
we may have spoke about this in some of the interviews and stuff,
but we basically did a big switcheroo in terms of coaching.
We've basically swapped coaches.
I think both of us weren't playing very good.
and Matt's coach was in Europe and my coach was in America
and we both played on opposite tours.
So it didn't make any sense as we didn't really get enough
like in-person contact.
So we just did a switch.
And that was kind of end of October.
And for me, like there was a little bit more structure in my swing.
I think it got, it started to get a little long and a bit,
a bit like too much play at the top.
whereas now it feels a bit more structured and it's definitely made a massive difference.
I think being able to drive the ball really well around these places has been really important.
And I think that's, I feel like I'm only getting better and more confident with the driver.
And I think that has been the big game changer for me.
That's amazing.
Just, you take Blackburn.
I'll take Walker.
We'll go make this thing work.
But Alex, I know you've seen your brother compete in Rider Cups.
You played in two Walker Cups.
for GBI and I. What would it mean to you to tee it up in a Ryder Cup one day?
Yeah, it would mean everything. I think the opportunity to play with your brother in arguably
the biggest event in golf is like something that you dream of as a kid and there's not many
people apart from the Molinarie brothers that are lucky enough to do that. So I feel like
we're in a position where it could potentially happen if I pull my finger out and I just be
really cool, like the moments and experiences you have with each other. I mean, I feel like
we've put up a good fight already with doing okay at the Zorik in the fourth and the best
ball. So, and the foursome, sorry. So it would just be really, really cool. And especially
being in Ireland, having all the home fans, that would be a bit of a dream. Do you go watch
him at the Ryder Cup when he plays? Yeah, I missed Beth Page. I didn't go to Beth Page because I
think I think I was at home.
And also I think with how Beth Page was and what I heard, I'd probably get into some
form of scrap.
So I avoided that.
But I did go to, I went to one in America a long time ago and then I went to the one in
Italy.
So I've been to two now and I feel like I've got a good grasp of how it is.
And yeah, it would be super cool to put on a team Europe outfit and go out there and try
and play for a ride of coat.
Yep, that's the pinnacle for pretty much every professional golfer,
but there's a lot of time between now and a dare manner.
I feel like you've accomplished some of the goals that you probably set out for this year.
I mean, you got your tour card, you're exempt for two years, check, check.
Up until a dare manner, like, do you reassess your goals, re-evaluate,
and structure those?
And if so, what are some of them?
Yeah, in this game, it feels like your goals are never-ending.
There's always, you know, you reach one, and then there's always another.
So, yeah, I mean, my goal that's the start of the,
year was getting a PJ tour card, which I was hopeful that I may have got it through the
DP World Tour.
Obviously, the category I mean, now is a little better, which is nice.
But I think it's just more of the same, I think.
Just keep trying to work as hard as I can.
And, you know, the rider cut points in Europe start, I think, in August.
So, you know, the goal is to go out and get as many rider cut points as I can and just prove, you know,
just try and get one of those sports.
spots and but yeah just just more of the same really um keep working hard and to what happens

Now, more with Alex.
Should we get to the E-9 here?
Yeah, we do a little thing,
just nine kind of random questions here at the end, Alex.
Harmless.
Harmless.
You fire off the first one.
All right.
I'll ask you this because you're Englishmen.
There's a lot of good options here.
Movies being made about your life
and you get to pick the actor who plays you.
Who do you want?
Oh, that's a good one.
Do you know, I've never thought about that.
Um,
we asked deep questions here on sub-bar.
I wish I looked like him,
but probably Chris Hemsworth.
Fair.
Yep.
That's,
I was going to say maybe Tom Hardy for him.
That's also good when you could whoop ass.
I'll take it either.
Woop ass.
He'd have to get rid of a little bit of the muscle,
just a little bit, though.
There's a lot of the good, like, English options.
Yeah, he could do it.
He could do it leaning up a little bit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
One of the picky blinders.
All right.
Next one here, Alex.
I heard you're a big Call of Duty fan.
There's a lot of PGA Tour players,
a lot of professional golfers that play Call of Duty.
Where do you think you would be in the world ranking
amongst golfers in Call of Duty?
Oh, that's a great question.
I'd have to back myself as number one.
I can't lie with you.
I think I'd put myself up there, yeah.
All right.
That probably shows I spent too much time playing it.
But, yeah, I'd back myself at least in the top three.
Do you travel to tournaments with a console?
I normally do.
I haven't this week, or well, I haven't for the next four weeks.
I feel a bit lost without it.
But yeah, normally I have a laptop that I travel with.
I come with my controllers and my headset and stuff.
So, yeah, a bit of a diehard fan.
Any other games or just call it duty?
I enjoy playing FIFA.
I love FIFA, but it's mainly.
Call of Dewey.
Good one.
Isn't Minwu big gamer?
Who else are the big gamers out there?
Seawu loves Colleen.
That's right.
I think Minwood too.
I've heard some stories about Seawu and Callow Jui, but Minwu is a big one.
There's a couple of caddies that play, which is quite cool.
Other than that, I don't know who else would play as much as us.
I like that.
Let's get together to do a little killing in off time.
Well, you got to stop real late with Seawoo to play.
I was going to say we'll probably going about 72 hour better.
I heard he's on the Red Bull when he plays as well.
Oh, yeah.
I think he's on the Red Bull all the time.
Yeah, if he's awake, he's on the Red Bull.
Yeah.
All right, Alex, outside of golf, okay,
what game or activity or competition or anything
between you and Matt brings out the most competitive fire?
Or like, what led to the most fights maybe as kids?
Do you know what?
We honestly didn't really fight an awful lot.
I think because we're four and a half years apart.
heart that there wasn't like that we didn't have that much in common um i would say like it would
be arguing about who's better at football but it's a note like it's not even a question he was
slow and not very good so like i like to give him a bit of crap about that okay we will bring that
i think he'll be on soon we're gonna definitely we'll get his we'll get his side of the story on
that that's funny uh all right next one what do you enjoy more your super spinner little flop shots around
the greens or an English chocolate bar.
This is a spinner.
I love chipping.
I don't know why.
I've always loved chipping.
Okay.
So Mark Blackford told me to ask you about this.
This super spinner.
You got to tell me because you basically put like the hosel of the club, right, against the ball?
Yeah.
Like I'll, you kind of, I mean, it's kind of cheating a little bit because you put,
you basically like flip the club upside down.
So like the club is kind of facing the backside of the Voki.
But you like, you can like really manipulate your hamster.
but you get a lot, you do get an awful amount of spin.
But I would, I've used it once in a tournament, which was actually at the open,
and I hit one of the nastiest shots I've ever hit.
So, but it stays very hidden in, just so I don't have to use it.
I got to come.
Yeah, I got to see a video of this.
I got to see it.
I do want to see this thing because it sounds kind of terrifying and probably the reason
you only did try it once in competition, but I heard you're sick at it.
it's i i i well i've done enough stupid practice though that's my issue so i should have been doing
something more productive and i do stuff like that i did hear though that chocolate bar is getting the
way of your nutritional plan which i don't blame you yeah but i feel like if you're a normal person
i feel like that's just normal dude we got to live we got to be a reason yeah 100%
100% enjoy your life uh i want to see the super spinner absolutely sounds like the tie spinner you and the
rat need to get together to do a little clinic, you know?
Some exotic, exotic chipping techniques.
He's the greatest.
All right, my next one, this is totally random because I was just looking at your PJ
Tour bio, and it said you're a big fan of Wanzo Ball.
Is this, where did that come from?
So I, of all the players, Lonson.
Yeah, do you know, do you know what it is when, I guess him and Lamello and his brother
Leangelo were all in cult, we're all in.
college or like high school when I started watching them on YouTube.
And I just,
I guess the way he plays basketball,
like the way he sees plays and his vision,
I always thought it was,
I always thought it was like insane.
So I loved like watching videos of them playing,
but it somehow ended up in my PJ Toll bio,
which I thought that was a little strict.
I don't know how it got in there,
but no,
it's pretty cool.
I do like my basketball.
Who are you taking?
Nicks or Spurs?
Probably the Spurs because of Wembe Amher.
Yeah, he's a bit of a cheat code.
God.
Gonna be tough.
He's a mean bastard too, dude.
Yeah.
He's a mean.
It should be a fun one, though.
I'm excited to see the garden in the final.
Yeah, he's only a couple inches tall than me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hands are slightly bigger.
Just a couple.
That's it.
Just a couple.
All right.
Next one.
So obviously, you're exempt for two years.
You can play any event you want on the PG.
tour.
You can't pick a major or the players.
What event are you most looking forward to seeing in person for the first time?
I honestly think this week was kind of up there for me.
Yeah.
I would say this week or probably Harbottown,
just because we grew up there as a kid and I feel I really, really like the place
in the area.
I would say them too.
But I will say, and I'm probably biased because I played well there,
Quail was amazing.
Yeah.
Quail thought it was such a good week.
Yeah.
Huge crowds.
It's greatness.
Yeah.
You might want to come check out this one out here in Scottsdale, the WM Phoenix Open,
if you like playing in front of big crowds.
We'll embrace you.
I've heard that one's pretty good.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, I take it back.
I take it back.
Sorry, I've got one.
Pebble Beach.
Oh.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There you go.
Fair enough.
Pebble Beach.
That's the one.
Also a good one.
Yep.
A lot of good options there.
All right.
A little England question here.
Englishman living in the U.S., about to be home-based in the U.S.
Give me one thing that you love that the U.S. has that England doesn't, and then vice versa.
Like if you could take one thing from here back home with you.
I would say Chick-fil-A.
We got a bag of it right here, actually.
And then I would say Nando's from England.
What's that?
It's like a chicken restaurant.
Oh,
you just love chicken.
It's unbelievable.
Maybe the chocolate, actually.
Maybe we'll change,
but the chocolate is pretty,
is way better at home than it is over here,
I'm afraid.
Yeah,
so Nando's.
There actually is,
I believe one in Washington,
D.C.
I first ate it in Malaysia,
and then they have it in Toronto.
It's all over Canada.
Is it fried chicken?
It's,
no,
it's like,
it's mostly grilled chicken.
No, it's like,
Perry, Perry, Perry,
yeah,
Perry,
Perry sauce.
Healthy healthier chicken.
They do these like,
they do these like,
grilled Hulumi is a starter, and it is, like, unbelievable.
Nando's.
Great spot.
All right, good.
Big chicken guy.
I like that about you.
Love chicken.
Good man.
Protein.
All right.
Last one for me.
Obviously, you famously caddied for your brother at the U.S. amateur when he won at Brookline.
So basically, you carried him to victory with your caddying skills.
We're going to flip it around.
And Matt's going to caddy for you.
What kind of caddy do you think he would be?
A terrible one.
Why?
He'd be trying to tell me what to do and how to play shots,
well, maybe not how to play shots,
but he'd be telling me what to do
and he'd have all his stats in his book
and just wouldn't do it for me, I don't think.
Yeah, he'd be an older brother.
Would you think you'd have to pay him more than a cell phone to do it?
Isn't that what you got for looping at D?
Yeah, Sam?
He charged me double the rate of normal,
But I did. To be fair, my dad did say if you can carry in the U.S. Am for him and he wins, I'll get you a phone thinking that that would never happen.
Damn, runner up would have been a tough one.
Yeah.
Do all the same work, but don't get a phone.
That's awesome.
Well, Alex, we appreciate you, man.
No, you got a big week. You're a busy man.
Congratulations on all the success. Can't wait to see what you do the rest of this season, dude. Keep it up.
Thank you so much. Thanks for having me, folks.
All right, that was Alex Fitzpatrick joining us on subpar.
I love how much he was shitting all over his brother for his athleticism.
I'm going to get this soccer take here shortly, I hope.
Yeah, we're having Matt on soon, so that'll be a lot of fun to make sure we play that for him.
But what a run this guy's been on.
I mean, other than the PGA, which he had just admitted, he was just out of gas.
He's been playing so good.
We mentioned how his career has changed, and I wanted to get this in the broadcast last week.
They don't really like us talking about money, but I don't really care because his life
has literally changed in the past two months.
The man is averaging over $700,000 a start in five events on the PGA tour.
Yeah, and, you know, when I asked him, like,
did you feel like any pressure at all to kind of come out and play good right away?
Because the narrative is, even though it's bullshit,
it was like, oh, that, you know, gifted him a car,
or it's only there because of his brother.
And he's basically said, not really,
but the fact that he's done it, I think put all that to bed,
put it to bed quickly.
And look at the courses that he's played well on.
Also playing most of these, not quick.
But he's seeing these internment conditions for the first time.
Quail, Durrell, Mirfield.
Yeah.
Three of the hardest, that's three of the tougher, toughest setups on the PJ tour.
And watching him like this last week, even going back to Zurich, dude, his short game is, he's got some flops.
Like the more he lays that face open, the better.
He had one on five this week.
That was like, oh, my God, take it on.
It was one thing, but then to pull it off, too.
Like, he's got a nasty little short game.
just what a run whatever houses and clubs you're shopping for down there they're getting bigger
they are getting bigger man by the week it was a lot of fun i actually ran into him at memorial he was
he was pumped that he came on the show he just he's a great dude man uh big fan of his and so happy
for all his success lately he's off and running and like we talked about that writer cup of dare
manner how much that would mean to him like it ain't it's a long ways away but it ain't that far-fetched
not at all anymore he keeps running like this all right well that was a funnel man hope everybody
enjoys the rbc canadian open and
we'll talk to you on next week's subpar.
