All right, welcome back to golf subpar with Colt Nost and Drew Stolls.
Before we get going here, I want to tell you about Callaway and their new Callaway Chrome Tour
Golf Ball, the new gold standard in tour performance.
Every detail has been optimized from cover to cover.
Chrome Tour is designed for better players who want the best in distance and feel.
Chrome Tour X is for the best players who want speed and ultimate control.
That's what I use because I want speed.
You can visit CallawayGolf.com to shop the Chrome Tour golf ball family and learn more about the line.
Callowagoff.com, go get you some golf balls, stripe it around there, shoot low scores.
Sounds like a good-ass golf ball right there.
You know what I mean?
Goes far and spins.
Yep.
That's what we're looking for.
That's what I do.
Shout out Calloway.
All right, let's get going here.
Canadian Open is in the books, and once again, did not disdement.
Hard to follow up last year where Nick Taylor just, I mean, it was the moment of the year when he made the 72 football.
That's fairytale stuff.
Yeah, it was incredible.
But Robert McIntyre, shout out to him.
His first PGA tour win.
It was a wild weekend.
I mean, it looked like he was cruising there.
Ryan Fox actually was cruising on Saturday.
I was on.
He backed up.
we had a big log jam, then Robert McIntyre came out of nowhere, went bird, bird, bird,
eag, and all of a sudden separated himself.
Then again on Sunday, struggled, and then boom, separated himself again, then came back.
It was, it was all over the place.
Yeah, it got juicy.
It looked like there was a time where I was like, well, this is a snoozer, this thing's a runaway,
then it didn't.
Then I was like, then Ben Griffin started going.
I was like, he could maybe win.
Rory was making a weird push at the end, had an outside look at his 63 on the last hole
or maybe, you know, without a couple of late birds from McIntyre.
He might have a chance.
But, dude, I think that golf tournament, with a lot of,
all the, like, shuffling around of the signature events and stuff, that thing's cool.
No matter where they put it, it seems to be awesome.
The Canadian fans show up in droves.
They're loud.
The rank hole's been sweet.
It gets a little rowdy out there.
It just feels like that's their only event of the year, and it matters up there to them.
We got a bunch of Canadians playing on the PJ tour.
That thing should be, that thing should be a signature event, in my humble opinion.
So there's a lot of talk about that.
Obviously, here's, and Dan Rappaport actually put a tweet out about this because RBC sponsors
two events.
One of them is a signature event.
the RBC Heritage
the week after the master's
right after the Masters.
He said you should switch it.
The problem is,
if you make it a signature event,
it's no longer the Canadian Open.
Ah, it's the Canadian Invitational.
It doesn't quite have the same ring.
Not quite the same thing.
I mean, you want this to be your national open.
You want people to be able to qualify.
You obviously want a lot of Canadians in there,
and I think that would take away from some of that.
But it's got a lot of juice.
You said, I mean, I've been there the last several years.
It's got way more juice than a lot of the other, like regular events.
The crowds are unbelievable.
I mean, the weather sucked on Sunday,
and they still came out.
If it would have been like it was Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
that place would have been unbelievable.
It is so much fun going there.
Hamilton is an awesome golf course.
It's not that it's not very easy.
I mean, it challenges these guys,
but the biggest thing is the crowds,
and it means so much.
You can see how much it means the Canadians.
You know, Amanda Ballionis and myself did a set at the rink on Sunday.
By the way, that hole is entirely too hard to have one of those sets there.
Way too long of a hole.
It was like hitting the green was a good shot.
You want to see some fireworks there.
Ryan Fox did almost make it,
but they were awesome.
Shout out to the Canadian fans
because I'm a huge Dallas star fan.
Brendan Morrow sent me a jersey up
because it was Stars, Oilers,
Sunday night, game six,
and unfortunately my boys lost,
but I walked onto the T-box.
They're on Sunday for the golf channel show.
Had my Brendan Morrow jersey on,
and the place just went nuts.
Booing me, let's go, Oilers.
Then they broke out into the Dallas sucks chant,
which was a lot of fun.
But there was a lot of shit talking
going back and forth.
It was all respectful,
had so much fun.
The guys at Hockey Night in Canada
gave me a nice little shout out.
But it was so much fun, man.
I appreciate them so much.
Like, we were talking about at Phoenix.
You know, you missed the green at 16.
They boo you.
They don't boo you here.
They just like to talk shit a little bit,
but they're so nice up in Canada.
Because they're Canadian, dude.
They're the nicest breed of human in the world.
Like, hey, good shot there.
It's okay.
I was running to the bathroom during commercial.
Go get them, pal.
How's that?
Is that good?
That was pretty good?
Yeah, it's not bad.
Almost as good as you're Australian.
No, not even close.
I was running to the bathroom real quick during commercial break.
And these guys were so nice.
Like, hey, go ahead, go ahead.
You're on air and all this.
This one guy comes out.
He goes, I'm not letting you in with that fucking jersey on.
And I was like, ha, funny.
He goes, I'm serious.
I mean, he had obviously had a few.
And I was like, dude, come on.
He goes, all right, move.
And I go, you're going to be the one asshole Canadian.
Really?
Everybody started laughing and he got out of the way.
But they are so nice up there.
They're so fun.
That golf tournament is fantastic.
It's one of my favorite stops of the year.
Yeah, it's sweet.
That dude probably didn't want to fight you.
You wouldn't want any smoke with that.
Pull the sweater over his head, bam.
I told Morrow they weren't booing the stars.
They were booing him.
I'm not a big hockey guy, as you know.
I don't really care who wins.
I'm rooting for Edmonton, one,
because in Canada just feels like it means more than it does in Florida.
Florida's had a lot of good things happen to them, sports-wise, too.
And also there's a young lady up in Edmonton.
I don't know.
You've seen the clips, big fan.
The passion.
The passion from the Edmonton female demographic has got me rooting for them for the cup.
I mean, I grew up in Dallas.
We've got a pretty nice demographic there, guys.
They do.
Come on.
They weren't showing...
Where you at?
I don't know if you know the clip I'm talking about.
There's one that was very excited for...
It got me excited for them.
So I'm Edmondson.
I do know the clip.
Yeah, you can't miss it, actually.
It was an awesome run for the Stars.
I mean, I had just the dream scenario going right now.
I had Stars one night in the Western Commerce Finals, Dallas Mavericks the other night.
Mavs were moving on to the finals against the Celtics.
Unfortunately, the Stars are going home, but it was a hell of run.
It was a lot of fun for me.
If you had to pick between the Stars or Mab's title, who would you want?
That's tough.
I'm a huge hockey guy.
I do love Jason Kidd, friend of the program.
Friend, a very good friend of the program.
And I love Jay Kidd.
It's close, but I've probably stars.
I went from thinking the wolves were going to win.
The wolves looked like complete shit against you guys.
Props to y'all.
Now I tend to lean Dallas beats Boston.
You got two killers on your team with Luca and Kyrie, two guys that could close.
I don't know.
Tatum, maybe for Boston.
I just, I don't know.
Stopping Luca right now seems like a problem.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
And Kyrie Irving actually looks like he's having fun playing basketball, which is nice.
Yeah.
So good luck to the Mavs, beat the Celtics, Josh Isner, you suck.
I hope the Mavs bring it home.
I try to get a little action with him.
And he says he doesn't bet on his Celtics.
I don't know if you want action with him, not the guy.
It maybe gets a little uncomfortable.
Can we talk about one other thing since we're talking about basketball?
Of course.
It's Caitlin Clark stuff.
Like, why is she getting so much hate?
Wow, we're really going into the weeds here.
I want to get this off my chest.
I've been listening to a lot of it.
Matt McAfee went off today.
Yeah.
Might have crossed the line a little bit, which he did come out with an apology,
even though he didn't mean it the way people are saying it.
But she's catching a lot of hate.
I'm like, y'all should be like praising this woman.
She's changed the game for y'all.
She'd be propping her up, letting her score 50.
Keep people, they're like face guarding her 82 feet away from the hoop.
Chicks are shooting free throws, forgetting that they got another one and coming in face gardener.
It's like, I mean, dude, I'm in the same position as I think most people's like,
dude, you've been clamoring for attention for so long.
You want eyeballs.
You want people in the seats.
You want the things.
You got a person that's finally giving you that.
You're all getting more money.
Rising tight, you know, lifts all boats and you want to kill her.
Like, the jealousy and all the shit needs to go away because, like, this is a person that could change your whole land.
Like, I've watched, like, the Final Four for the Women, National Championship game.
I hadn't done that before, if I'm being honest.
Now, like, she's playing on television.
I'm like, well, maybe I check it out.
Like, more and more people are watching.
I don't know why they hate her so much.
By the way, all she has to do is call up Ice Cube, that big three dealer, whatever that basketball is called up.
10-mill or whatever.
You know what?
I'm done with this.
Let's see how this WMBA goes without me.
Somebody else, body check her, put her out for the season,
and let's see how many people are showing up.
Angel Reese's interview came out today and said it ain't just one player.
It's all of them.
I did this too.
It's all of them, dude.
We're all talking about Angel.
That was a strange tangent for us to go on that.
A little WBA talk here on subpar.
Yeah, we do it all.
See, we're talking about it.
We cover all the bases.
By the way, are you still flying the drone for CBS?
Are you the drunk?
Dude, you got to chill out with the drone.
Get it away from Bobby.
You're up his ass with the drone.
The drone has changed the TV game.
It's awesome.
You can hear it sometimes.
I've had, trust me.
He's not the only player that's complained about it.
The tough part is for myself and Doddy or Mark Immemann,
they come to us.
And they're like, hey, get the drone out here.
I'm like, yeah, it's your fault.
I don't know if you see this.
I don't have a remote control in my hand.
I will deliver the message that's the best I can do.
Robert McIntyre was not happy about it.
We got it out of there.
It's all good, but the drone just makes it so much better, guys.
I mean, there's a lot of noise going on out there.
Just tune it out.
Come on.
I knew that was you.
I knew you're that.
No one knows that behind the scenes, but you control the drone.
Yeah, I just, dude, you got to get out of Bobby's ass, dude.
Just let the, can the kid try to get a dub?
One time?
I do have to ask the four ball.
I expected to come home, do the segments today.
I need to vent on this, so go ahead.
And I expected not the self-suck jar to be there.
I expected a USGA trophy to be in the middle.
USGA trophy, if that would have happened, the self-sucked jar would be overflowing.
Some sort, some charity in town.
Would be like a Thunderbird donation to that.
I'll give you the whole breakdown of the week.
A couple of the positives.
Philly Cricket's sick.
Super sick.
Love the place.
It's got like a kind of an oak mop slash wing foot like feel like aesthetic to it.
You go, you can see a lot of the holes.
There's hardly any trees on, there are trees, but there's not like, it's not like, it's not like tree line.
You can blow it anywhere you want.
Ruff was playable, but the greens were extremely firm until the rain started pounding to where, like,
you couldn't get it close at all from the rough.
So you get it up there, but you had to try to land it on the front third.
Green's old school, super slopy, fast, old school bunkering, dude, it's awesome.
They turned one par five to a par four, and they had a perfect combination of, like, some short par fours back to back.
They had like a 360, 370 type holes, and they turn around, you have a 48, 490 type of holes.
I thought it was awesome.
We got through stroke play just fine, where we, like, I think we tied for eighth or something.
The 12 seed, after all the, like, scorecard stuff.
first match dude we showed up and like it was one of those matches where I feel like if you make it all the way to the end you're gonna have one match where it's like we're not really clicking we just got to get through this thing like you probably had it and you know at the us am or whatever like that was our one and we're one down most of the day get it to even go one down I was like just keep doing what we're doing like eventually this thing's gonna tip over we'll make some puts or something and damned if we just didn't par like damn near every hole just couldn't get anything going next thing you know they made a couple bombs a couple of
long ones and I was like we got some stress.
A couple of buffaloes got you.
Yeah, dude. A couple Colorado.
One of them played really nice.
The other one was kind of all over the map back and forth, but then would roll in like
a 35 footer out of nowhere for a tweet.
So it's sad.
It was disappointing, man.
Like that golf course for the two of us between me like hitting it straight in the
fairway and kitty can hit it wherever he wants and still be fine.
I was like, this place is sick.
Pudding was really tough to the whole putts.
There's so much break on everything.
I loved it.
And shout out to the dudes that.
They're from Scottsdale.
I actually don't know who they are.
Kitty doesn't know there.
They're obviously incredible players,
and they got Blades Brown and Jackson Harrington,
who we talked to all week,
and they were just mowing people down.
And when we first saw the bracket,
you don't ever look ahead,
but of course we look ahead.
I was like, dude, they're on the other side.
This would be perfect.
And we lost in the first round,
and they made it all the way there.
But props to them, it was sweet.
We had a ball.
We'll be back.
We'll be back stronger than ever.
Oh.
It was fun to watch.
A Philly gentleman came up and said,
Please tell your partner, we're not all like that.
We don't hate the people of Philly.
You could just hate the Eagles.
The Philly people are great.
Are great people.
And I said, you know what?
I'll relay the message, dude.
He's very reasonable when it comes to Philly.
Did you bring me home in Eagles gear?
Yeah, there was some on sale at the airport, but I was too depressed, dude.
When I flew in there to go play Pied Valley Cup weeks ago, I just pulled the hat down,
I just bolted through that.
I was like, get me out of the range.
Maybe the one, the practice round we played.
He was like, hey, hey, hey, sleaze.
I was like, walk over.
He listened to the show all the time.
You just do me a favorite.
You tell gravy.
that all the people in Philly are, you know,
we're not all assholes.
It's just some of us.
And it's just,
all of it.
I was like, you got it.
That's awesome.
You got it.
I love it.
Shout out to that guy.
The rest of you,
eat shit.
All right,
we got some more football to talk about.
Because our guest this week,
Arizona Cardinal tied in,
Trey McBride.
This dude, he's a massive human.
All right,
before we get to our interview coming up here
with Trey McBride in for the Arizona Cardinals,
we've got to talk about something serious in the world of golf.
There is an epidemic going on right now
with just the absolute man.
handling of golf clubs by the airlines.
We saw East Tennessee State University.
Their bags getting just body slammed around the thing.
Another dude just came out and posted, looked like his clubs went through a wood shipper.
Eliminate all of this.
It is a problem right now.
Shipsticks is the way.
By the way, huge shout out to Shipsticks.
They contacted the East Tennessee State University after they saw that video.
They're taking care of their club next season, shipping them for them.
That's a stand-up operation.
Mike Holbert, who's part of that college team staff, works with us at CBS.
Is that right?
Yeah.
Good form.
Sun played there.
My name you still does.
But yeah, that's an awesome move by them.
Yeah, without question.
The more stuff you see online, the more terrified you get of the way they're treating your clubs and things.
Just bypass all that.
Make traveling easier.
Go to shipsticks.com.
Use the code subpar or shipsticks.
com slash subpar.
Each way gets you 20% off your next shipment.
Don't let them treat your boys like that, dude.
You can throw my clothes.
Treat them nice.
I need those guys happy when they arrive.
I'm the only one allowed to throw my clubs.
Exactly.
If anyone will beat the shit out of them, it's me by God.
Shout out shipsticks.
All right, here's Trey McBride on Golf Subpar.
All right, folks, we got one of the most dangerous tight-ins in the NFL with us here.
Former Mackey Award winner at Colorado State entering his third year with the Arizona Cardinals,
The Pride of Fort Morgan, Colorado.
Trey McBride, what's up, Bigfellow?
Yeah, bro, thank you so much for having me.
This is going to be sweet.
I'm fired up.
Good to have you, dude.
I mean, I met you at West Brock a few months ago, and it still scares the shit out of me every time I shake your hand.
Like, it's just, like, what size glove do you wear?
Yeah, I get the 3x, but they're a little tight.
So I got to, after I sweat a little bit, they'll start fitting a little better.
But 3x, 4x is hard for me because they're still a little big.
So I like them, I like them tight.
Yeah, I get it.
Isn't it fucking humbling when you shake one other hands?
He's like, geez, I'm a fucking infant.
I'm a nothing.
Like, I'm not in the same species.
My cadet small probably wouldn't fit you when he came out of the womb.
You throw that thing on his thumb.
Yeah, yeah.
Be like a finger.
Didn't D.
have like he's not I mean you're a big dude he's not as big as you but he had like some
crazy stuff like that right he his hands were huge yeah wow it's like rick cassob also good yeah yeah dude
i mean that's got that's a nice hard to find golf gloves serious question they make golf gloves
that big or you got to custom yeah no they they they they they're struggle i got to order the
biggest one but it's sometimes i have to put with the glove on you know because uh putting them on and
off you know it's a little little tough sometimes you know it just depends on on how it is but well you're
coming from practice right now, getting started early.
How long have I been going?
We've been going.
OTA's been going for like three or four weeks now.
Just turned mandatory to OTAs this week.
So we're doing all that, getting, you know, easing into practice.
We started with the helmets on this week.
And then here in the next couple weeks, we get to throw the shoulder pads on and kind of get going a little bit.
So I'm fired up.
Is it mandatory right now?
I mean, it's pretty much, let's be real.
Like, it's all mandatory, right?
Unless you're Tom, maybe Brady or some of Rogers can chill out.
on that, but everyone else got me there.
Yeah, pretty much everyone's there.
But this week, it turned mandatory on Monday.
So now here in the next three weeks are all mandatory.
Nice.
And you already got clipped up.
No pads, no tackling.
And you already got clipped up a little bit.
But that's part of it.
I'll be good to go tomorrow.
Buddha.
Yeah.
Buda Baker got you?
Buddha Baker got me today.
But I'm coming back from tomorrow.
What a name, Buda Baker.
Yeah.
So good.
He's a beast.
Do you have a nickname on the team?
Oh, I don't know.
A lot of guys call me 4K Trey, which is like a rapper, and I'm a white guy, so I don't know.
Yeah, we can confirm that.
That's the name they gave me, but I get all sorts of nicknames when I'm out there.
4K Trey.
Yeah.
Are you a rap guy?
Do you listen to rap?
Well, I mean, when we're on the football field, that's all we listen to out there.
Yeah.
So I kind of, you know, get, it's in there.
I definitely listen to it, but it's not my first choice for you.
What about pregame for you?
Because, I mean, most of the guys have headphones on around around or they're getting loose.
What do you get going?
I'm like an EDM guy, like some kind of feel-good music, some kind of, you know, something like that.
That's how I go.
I just love EDM, just get me going for the day and go hit some people, yeah.
Go hit some people.
Yeah, you're probably dying to get those shoulder pads on and practice right now.
Yeah, no, it is what it is.
It's part of it, but I'm excited to get back to it for sure.
Third year and going into your third year in the league,
there's been monster jumps from year one to year two, now you're three.
What's it been like?
Are you to the point now in the league where you're, you're, you're, you're, you're,
you're not like deer in the headlights anymore.
I got to think that lasts for, same with golf.
Like dudes come out and it takes them a whole year sometimes to feel like, hey, I belong here.
Yeah, definitely.
The first year was a lot of adjustment.
You know, you're coming from college where, you know, guys aren't as fast,
aren't as strong, don't hit as hard.
And then you come into the league where you have to learn so much more.
You have to, you're asked to do so much.
The details are so much finer and room for error is just not there.
So the first couple years, yeah, definitely.
And then once that kind of passes, I feel.
confident as heck now and ready to roll. So I feel like that deer in the headlights kind of gone now.
And I'm, I kind of feel very comfortable where I'm at. What was the welcome to the NFL moment?
Oh, yeah. There was a few, I think, you know, obviously I got hit in one game. Fred Warner got me.
I think I remember that. Yeah, I got lit up one game. And coach, you know, he's like, comes back.
He's trying to hype me up. And I was like, coach, I just got drilled, man. There's nothing.
There's nothing good to tell. Yeah, just, just things like that. But then maybe that rookie dinner when
I had to, you know, take all the guys out to dinner and we, you know, you have to buy the dinner
for all the guys.
That was a huge welcome.
Like, dang, these guys eat a lot.
And it's not a cheap dinner.
That's for sure.
Where do you?
Let's go to that.
Where did y'all go for that?
And how many people are we talking?
We went to Tokumadera.
Yeah.
Smart.
And we, for some reason, they wanted to do O-line and tight-end dinner.
So it was, I think, 20 of us maybe.
And, yeah, it was a pretty penny that night.
But it was fun.
We had a good time.
How many of you are.
splitting it? There was three of us, but I was the highest drafted, so it was 50, 25, 25.
Oh, damn. Yeah, it was a good, good night, but it actually, it ended up a couple of the vets
chipped in a little bit of money, so it helped out a little bit, which was nice.
Rookie deal, guys, you know, chill out on the wine or whatever. Give it one more year.
You know, $2,000 bottle of wine just to take home to the wife, yeah, to take it home to the wife.
That's nice.
That's nice of them.
So it was a good time.
You mentioned being highest draft pick.
Take us through draft night.
Did you have an idea of maybe like where you were going to go, what number pick you were going to be?
I did, but it wasn't Arizona and it wasn't picked 55 where I was drafted.
I knew I was going to be the first tight-in drafted.
You know, I was the Mackey Award winner, so I did that.
And I knew I was going to be the first tight-end drafted.
I just didn't know when it was going to be.
I thought it was going to be late first, early second round, and it ended up being towards the end of the second round.
honestly didn't talk to the Cardinals at all during the draft process, didn't even speak to him one time.
I thought I was going to New York.
I thought was going to be a giant or a jet.
That's what I truthfully thought.
That's what my agents thought.
It would suck to be a giant.
Yeah.
Our producer is a big giant fan.
But I'm glad I ended up here in Arizona.
This has been a great fit for me, and I do love it here.
And you get to golf.
I think what would happen up there.
Yeah, I would be miserable up there.
So here I get a golf.
all the time so it works out it's sunny 75 all the time so maybe not 75 maybe 105 100 yeah 120 a time
it's a little bit rough but you go back to fort morgan yeah you go back to florida summer talk about
fort morgan because like that's close to where i grew up uh we used to play y'all and things like that
it's not exactly a hotbed for athletic talent like when did you know like you're dominating everything
in high school i'm sure but like do you ever doubt like all right this is fort morgan like can i do it
in college and then ultimately the league yeah for sure you know i wasn't highly recruited i got very
lucky my older brother was a good football player he kind of got eyes on the town of fort morgan and then
ultimately colorado state uh offered me i went to fort collins and uh played four years um i didn't really
know how good i was going to be i knew i was good in high school but like you said i'm from a small
little town and uh um i didn't think there was much talent there so i went to colorado state and uh
excelled there and um everything everything worked out and here i am now so um it was a lot of fun i love
Fort Collins. It was a blast.
Good spot. Good spot. There's actually, I went on Wikipedia. I was like, I wonder who else
has made it out of Fort Morgan. Joel Dreson. Yeah, Joe. Another tied in in the league. And you
got a, you had an old lineman. Yeah, Ryan Johnson. Yeah, played for the Bucs or somebody.
He played for the Baltimore Ravens and then he finished his career in Tampa Bay. Yeah.
It's pretty good. Like three out of that time. How big is it? Yeah, three in, in 20, something,
24 years. Yeah, it was like eight, eight to 15,000 something. I think it's up to 15,000 now.
But when I was there, it was more like 10.
You got less from Fort Collins.
If you go on Fort Collins, Wikipedia, are you on there?
Should be.
Should be.
It's not on there.
The best there never was.
I'm on that one.
Who is that running back from Oklahoma?
Did Marcus Dupree?
Yeah, I'm going to be the sequel to that.
That's funny.
The best there never was.
Colorado's been getting a lot of attention the last couple of years, mostly.
The wrong school, Colorado.
Buffalo.
Gives a little thoughts on what's going on over there, coach prime and everything.
You know, it's interesting what he's doing.
Obviously, big-name guy coming in coaching,
bringing a ton of recruits, but the thing I don't understand is why the turnover rate so much.
They bring in, you know, they have so many guys leaving every year too.
So I don't know why what he's doing there.
I think what he's doing for the state is great.
He's bringing a lot of attention to the state of football, Colorado football, things like that.
But the turnover rate and guys leaving to the portal is concerning for me.
I don't know why so many guys are in and out every year.
And I don't know what the deal with that is.
But I think what he's doing in college football is very cool.
and the hype that he gets.
And I own the transfer portal, man.
It's like, dude, you committed to play here.
Yeah.
And he's just like, guys are bouncing around playing four or five different schools.
It's crazy.
It's crazy.
And it's just, they're just chasing the who's going to pay him the most and, you know, things like that.
But yeah, I think it's, I think it's good for what he's doing in color.
I saw one coach came out and said recruits are wanting money to come on a recruiting trip.
Like an appearance fee?
Yeah, like, dude, what?
Like, in a baby.
I take all five.
Yeah.
I'll be taking all five.
Yeah, of course.
It's just like, this is college.
It's so crazy where it's going there.
It's got to change, don't you think?
Like, it's got to be, if they're going to be getting paid and doing all this,
it's going to have to be like a contract like an employee.
Like, all right, dude, we're going to pay you this.
And you got a two-year deal, minimum or three.
Whatever.
If you leave, you forfeit it.
You got to pay it back or whatever.
Just like any regular employee would have.
I think that's kind of where it's going to go to.
That's where it seems like it's headed because guys are getting paid so much
and then leaving with no obligations to the school, things like that.
And they're just chasing the bag right now.
So I think that's exactly where it's going to go.
Guys are going to have to start signing contracts.
they're going to probably make more money in college than they will in the NFL.
I legit think some are.
I mean, like Quinn Ewers was the first dude, right?
He opted out of his senior year at South Lake Carroll and Dallas, went to Ohio State.
They gave him a million bucks.
He never played a snap.
And then boom, dip, left, went to Texas, but took the million with him.
It's like, I know you can't make it incentive-based, like performance-based with NIL.
Yeah.
But it's like, you got to be something preventing that, I would think.
I would think so.
Yeah, I would think so.
Yeah, I would think so.
Yeah.
See it later.
I'll go back to Texas.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Get another million.
Yeah.
There was a, plus one of the big recruits.
I don't know if he was playing at Alabama.
He signed a letter of intent to go to Alabama, then decommitted, said he's going to the University of Texas.
On his Instagram story that day, he tagged himself at Lamborghini of Austin.
I'm like, really, dude?
What made you choose Austin?
What made you choose Austin, man?
Yeah, I wonder why.
I wonder why you went there, yeah.
I noticed you showed us your little battle wound.
You've had a lot.
You got quite a few tattoos.
Yeah.
How many and how many hours you spent in the chair?
Oh, man, my armor right here.
I got a half a sleeve here.
That was my longest one.
I think I was like 18 hour one.
Oh my God.
It was three,
three six hour sessions.
Yeah,
it wasn't too bad.
I was,
uh,
it was bad actually,
you know,
it sucked.
I'm not gonna lie.
I was like,
there's no way that's not bad.
It's just like,
your arm goes so numb and you don't really,
it just,
you know,
there's just needling into you,
but it was a lot of,
uh,
really cool,
you know,
something I,
I really enjoy,
but,
uh,
I've spent a lot of time to,
18 hours on one of them.
Yeah,
that was like a three,
a three,
uh,
day process, I think three different days.
We did six hours of pop.
You got anything coming in the future?
I don't know.
I'm thinking about finishing up my arm.
It does look sweet on TV, I'll say that for the record.
Like the sleeve, I'm like, damn.
Yeah.
It does look cool sometimes, you know, but then at the end of the day, it's, you don't want to,
it's one of those things you're going to have on your body the rest of your life.
So you got to, if you like it now when you're 24, you got to like it when you're
44 too, you know what I mean?
So it's kind of kind of one of those things.
If you play in the league, though, and you're swole and then you get like, you're
have a long run in the league and like make it you're not going to need to like apply for an
accounting job when you get done so you can kind of get away it's one it's like the dudes that's like
it's like the dude's in high school like I'm going to the league and then they don't you're like
you still got that and you got to go and you got to get a job brother yeah yeah good luck to
you go back to because you were in school during like covid and you became like the guy the number
one tied in in the country i got to think at that time getting back to kind of like the
nil stuff you had to have offers i would think because you all didn't even play did you
not play a full season COVID like some schools didn't some conferences right that's kind of funny
question you asked I actually was in the transfer portal I was at Colorado State
Colorado State wasn't going to play COVID year I was coming off my best season my
sophomore year first team out conference and in my mind I was going to play one
more year my junior year and I was going to the NFL well Colorado State wasn't
going to play a season at the time so I was like well I'm gonna transfer out go play a
season somewhere go to the NFL head coach just got fired it was kind of one of
those things where I was ready to leave with him he got a
offensive coordinator job at University of South Carolina at Gamecocks.
So in my mind, he took a couple of players with him.
I was going to be another one that I, so I was in the portal.
That was fun.
I got an offer from about every school you can think of.
Schools were offering me money.
That was actually the year before NIL, but schools were still offering me money.
Air them out, which schools, who had the biggest offer?
Yeah, I actually, a couple six-figure offers, which in that time was, I was, yeah,
That would have been sweet.
Yeah, and I actually decided to come back.
Colorado State was like, actually, we're going to play a football season.
I didn't really want to leave.
I just wanted to play a year of football, came back, played that COVID year,
and half the games got canceled.
We had eight games scheduled.
And three times we were on the plane on the runway, about to fly out to a school,
had it turn around.
One time we were actually in the air had a turn around because the team we were playing
had too many cases of whatever it was.
And it was just a real mess.
So eight of our games got canceled to four.
And it just wasn't enough for me to,
I didn't feel like I was ready.
I didn't feel like I had enough film to go to the NFL.
So I came back one more year, my senior year,
and had a thousand-yard season,
won the Mackey, blah, blah, blah.
It was a choice.
Yeah.
Here I am now.
Not many would have done that, though, I feel like.
That COVID stuff, those were some sweet times.
Yeah.
I mean, what a disaster?
Looking back on that now, it's like, what were we?
What were we doing?
What were we doing?
Yeah.
I mean, dude is madness.
For us at CBS, we could go to work.
You had to wear your mask, but then, like, you get in a golf cart to go on the course
and cover it.
You didn't have your mask on.
Yeah.
And then we'd go back.
And then we had to go to our room and we couldn't leave.
And they had to bring our food to our room and we weren't allowed to be around each other.
I'm like, we're sitting next to each other.
Yeah, we just spend all day together.
Yeah, we just spend all day together.
And now we can't be around each.
The plane's like, like, where I'm in?
But you can eat without them.
So to take them off for that.
But then put them back.
I'm like, dude, it's once the cats out of the bat, like, you know what I mean?
Like, what are we?
It was just madness.
But that's the problems.
If you had, like, offers like that.
Yeah, it was a crazy deal.
And to go to, like, I'm sure you get on SEC, wherever you want to play for a national title.
I mean, I had it all.
But it was.
Could have been a horn frog.
Yeah, you could have been a nice frog, too, dude.
But it all, it all kind of worked out.
I'm glad I stayed in Fort Collins.
I'm glad I stayed there and was loyal to that school because it ultimately got me where I wanted to be.
So, yeah.
I'm very interested in pregame routines.
Like, the baseball guys are like,
insanely superstitious. You have any superstitions? No, not too bad. I'm pretty, I have the same
breakfast, I guess, if that's a... Okay, I want to hear what the says. Yeah, I just have the same breakfast.
42 egg whites and some milk. No, I have like an omelet, like a little scramble. It's the same,
you know, I have sausage, you know, all this, all the stuff in it. So it's the same scramble I have
every single day. Truthfully, I have it every single morning. So that's the only thing probably that
that doesn't change.
But other than that,
I'm pretty easy.
I'm,
nothing really changes for me.
It's just another day.
Yeah.
That's good.
It's good to not have superstitious.
Because once you do,
it's like if one little thing goes wrong,
you're losing your mind.
Yeah.
Exactly.
And I don't,
pretzled up before you get too serious
about all that.
That's good.
It is.
Well,
is dey's,
he always put his left pant leg on first.
Yeah, yeah, the whole shit,
dude.
He would drive with the same like Taylor Swift's song
to the stadium
would go in at this time.
He picked three guys.
on this he put like his whole left side on before he did his some all kinds of like
sometimes he got his left for yeah he doesn't know so it's really hard for him yeah mark that
thing yeah that's good do you question because like golf we just got this thing on netflix
we're in season two called full swing which is like behind the scenes kind of like hard knocks
of golf and all the golfers watch it do you are you a hard knocks guy yeah so actually my
rookie year the cardinals had the hard knocks here so my first year in the NFL was a hard knocks year so
yeah i definitely think
I think it's cool. I think it's, I love the full swing thing where you get the behind the scenes, the hard-knock stuff. It's really cool, especially being a player and seeing how other teams run their organization, how other players go about their day. Because it's, we all do the same thing, but everyone kind of does their own thing. So it's kind of cool to see how other teams or players do there.
What was it like with, I mean, it's your rookie year, so you don't know what a normal year's like, but I think y'all are the end season one, right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Was it like, was it noticeable? Like, when they were always there? Like, did you have to watch yourself a little more? Yeah, it was weird because they had.
cameras they had microphones in every single room and cameras in every single room and whether you
wanted to know whether you knew or not hot mic all the time so it was like even if you're in a
meeting even if you're trying to have a one-on-one conversation with someone you had to go somewhere
out of the building to if you didn't want anyone else to hear like cameras on every single corner in
every room spinning during the meeting like someone's operating it like it was just a weird deal
because everything you said could be used in the film.
So it was just,
you got to be careful and,
you know,
what you said.
Yeah,
well,
it's football fans,
we love it.
Like,
I mean,
except for I'm not going to watch this Giants one,
Mark,
when it comes out,
because that's going to be rather boring,
but I love the hard knocks.
Yeah,
I think they're awesome.
I think it's really cool for the,
for the fan to get this perspective of what we go through on a daily basis,
what a day in the life of a football player looks like and things like that.
Especially with it being training camp, too.
They make such great stories about guys trying to make the team.
Yeah.
And, like, the fans get invested.
Like, oh, God, I'm going for this guy.
Preseason games.
You're, like, cheer in the tied-in trying to make it, you know.
Yeah, like the fourth one catch for seven yards.
Fuck, yeah.
Sign him.
Sign his ad.
Dude, the Dolphins one I thought was sick.
I told you mentioned, like, it's cool because you see one coach super serious button.
And then you got McDaniel down there.
And he's just a dude.
I was like, I love this kid.
It's like the owner let his kid operate the team for a day.
But he happens to know a shitload about football.
He's awesome, dude.
That's awesome.
Yeah, no, they do it.
They do a good job.
job. And like you said, so many coaches are different. Some are more relaxed. Some are hard. Some
some are this, some are that. So to see the different styles and coaching and things like that is neat, too.
Yeah. Kyler added another weapon to go along with you this year. Marvin Harrison, Jr.
No some other shit's going on right now, but just have you spending time around him at all?
Yeah, he's a great guy. He's an awesome player, and I'm fired up for him. He obviously comes from good jeans.
So I'm fired up for everything that he's about. He's a good person, a good person, a good
player and I think he's going to be a huge asset for this football team. Whose hands are bigger?
I don't know. I actually haven't, I should, I should just go up and hold his hand one day.
You should. Just hold it for that's how he bond, too. I think he would like that. He's a, he's
tall. He's about the same height as I am, but probably a little faster than me. I don't know.
We'll see about that. When they picked him up, what, third overall? What, I mean, dude.
Yeah, four. Sorry, my bad. Um, were you like, yeah, like, he's going to get a ton of attention next year.
And you're a guy that also is going to get a lot of attention.
But if he's out there on the outside, like this might free me.
This is a good thing for you too, right?
Yeah, no doubt.
It's a good thing for the whole team.
I mean, this guy's going to take, he's going to make place for us when he's open.
And then when he's not open, he's going to take two or three guys with him where the other guys can go and make place.
So he's going to be a huge part of our offense.
He's going to be a huge part of this team.
And I'm fired up to get him out and see what he's all about.
It's a nice, nice scoop.
Be explosive on offense.
Let's talk a little golf.
How's the golf game?
I know you love it.
You play as much as you can.
What kind of handicap we carry it right now?
Like a 12.
Okay.
Yeah, 10 to 15, but I'm like a 12 right now.
I haven't seen you swing it yet.
I know Slees was in Vegas at our 8 a.m.
Invitational.
Maybe Slees break down the golf swing.
I think he's raw, like how long he been playing?
Since I've been a Cardinal.
Yeah, dude, it's fresh in the game.
It's one of those like give him a little time, figure it out.
And he'll, like, the raw material is there.
It just needs to be like he needs reps.
He needs to play some and not get beat to shit for eight months and then play a few more times.
Yeah, that's the,
What I've starting to realize is don't swing so damn hard.
I used to swing hard, and I'm like, with how big I am, I don't need to swing hard at all.
I just got to let the club do the work and slow my swing down and the ball goes just as far.
That's what I'm starting to realize, and I can control the ball a little more.
So it's been a lot of fun later.
Tell you what, just follow Travis Kelsey around.
Not only is good on the football field and off, if you know what I mean, but his golf swing is incredible.
It looks like he swings like 80%.
Yeah, and he just probably hits him a mile too.
He's legit solid.
Like his golf swing is nice.
Like for a dude that I don't think he plays a ton, you know, but I'm like if he wanted to,
like he could be like when he gets down, he'll probably do some entertainment stuff when he gets done.
But like he could be, he could be like the quarterbacks.
Yeah.
At the top of the thing, he won the long drive like 195 ball speed.
He fucking smashes it, dude.
I mean, he took it all out and it was, I mean, it's legit seed tour long type stuff.
He definitely don't have swing that hard.
You got enough mass going into the ball.
You're fine.
You just got to let the club do the work.
Yeah.
Anyone else on the team play?
Like you got guys after OTAs or whatever.
We got a good group of probably like six or seven guys.
Clayton Tune, the backup quarterback.
He's a pretty good golfer.
Houston?
Yeah.
He's probably got the crown for the best golfer on the team.
So I go and play with him all the time.
He's a stick, so it's fun.
Quarterbacks all.
Yeah, they all are.
I don't know if Kyler plays, but all the other guy, all the other quarterbacks.
He's playing bids, right?
He's playing call duty or something like that.
Any game hard?
Who's your favorite guys and professional?
professional golf to watch.
Wyndham Clark, obviously, he's a Colorado guy.
You know, I like Bryson watching
Bryson just because he's a big-ass dude, and I like
watching him just hit the shit out of the ball.
Guys that I think are, obviously, Scotty's a
stud right now. He's pretty fun to watch.
But there's a ton of guys that I like watching,
but those are three that I can think of right now.
Yeah, Sunday was just awesome at the PJ.
Bryson making the move. I was with his group,
and it was so cool to watch.
He was just, he had the crowd
going. He was embracing them. It was so fun to watch. I miss him, you know, being on the PGA
tour and competing with those guys weekend and week out. I mean, obviously, he made a very good
financial decision going over a live, but I miss following him around weekend and week out.
Yeah, no doubt. I just like, he just reminds me because he's a big dude, so he just hits the ball
and miles. So that's like, that's kind of when I'm done playing football, I'm going to be a
golfer like him. That's what I think. He's still big. He looks like fairly, but there was a moment.
There was a, I mean, how much weight is he lost dude from his peak? Do you think?
right 25 30 close to 30 during the period where he looked like I mean he was a
He could have been a tight as you are dude he was monstrous he got up to 250 I believe
Did he see what are you to 250? Yeah I'm 245 so he could have been a tight end huh been a nice little battle
Between the two years so are you watching golf like on the weekend like you watch like each week
I usually just look at the scoreboards more than anything but I love I love watching those guys because it's it's pretty you know
Now that I play golf I realize how good these guys really are because I'm like shit it's hard to it's hard to do what those guys do and how
precise and you know how close they get the you know all this stuff they're just so
good so now that I play golf I really have a a more appreciation for for how good
they really are you know you got any more like you play the 8 a.m. event up and
Vegas who's your partner in that? Shane Victorino yeah that's right yeah dude
Hawaiian flying Hawaiian yeah that was a good time we we had a lot of fun we had a blast
we were in the mix for a little bit then our our back nine kind of fell off but
back nine's got to a lot of people after that little break
It was just like an hour and a half, by the way, in between your front night and back
nine.
You're a different dude.
I was a little stiff, but it was fun.
Only certain people were built for that last nine.
Yeah, exactly.
Who'd you meet in that thing?
That was your first time.
A lot of cool people that I assume you didn't know.
Who'd you meet coming away from that were like, that guy's sweet.
Yeah.
There was a ton of people, but the actors, really, I kind of hit it off with those guys.
Obviously, the Sheck, all those guys were really cool.
There was a ton of, I mean, like I said, every single person there was cool.
But actually the actors and I hit it off pretty good.
Taylor Lawner was there.
And for some reason, he loved me, told me, I want him some money on fantasy or something.
And we just hit it off.
He's like, dude, you're the man.
And I was like, no, you're the man, bro.
You know what I mean?
So me and him kind of hit it off.
But there was a ton of Archie Bradley was really cool.
Yeah, we had a good time with him.
Obviously, all those guys were a lot of fun.
So we had fun.
Archie's in it big now, too.
Yeah.
I got to ask a fantasy question, though, because Mark informed me before we walked in here,
you're the fourth highest rated
tied in and fantasy this year.
Can you name the top of the three above you?
I find that disrespectful.
I would say Sam Leporta is probably up there.
Mark, I need you to help me with this.
Thumbs up on that one.
Travis.
Yeah.
And probably T.J. Hawkinson.
No.
I got a guess.
George Kittle.
Kittle.
No.
Whoa.
No.
I'm going to.
Oh, no.
The third one is probably, oh, man.
Kelsey Leporta.
So he happened to play for the Cowboys named Shultz?
No.
Shultz played for the, he plays for Houston.
Oh, he plays for Houston.
Who's our new guy?
Jake Ferguson from Wisconsin.
He's a badass, too.
Yeah, he is.
He's my class.
He's a good, good player.
I'm trying to think of who the other one could be.
All right, Mark, you want to chime in and give us one this one?
Oh, yeah.
Mark Andrews.
Yeah, he's a stuff.
Yeah, Arizona guy, went to Oklahoma.
He's a good dude, too.
All right, well, next year we'll have you back and we expect you to move up that bar.
Yeah, we'll be up to one.
Yeah, perfect.
You and Kyler got a good rat.
Like you look at your stats, you're one, you're two,
and I know you got a good rapport with Kyler.
I think, like, this year could be big fantasy-wise.
We got a lot of fantasy listeners right now if you want to make a pitch for yourself.
Yeah, no.
So I think this is really my first year with Kyler.
Kyler obviously had the ACL last year, so he only played half a season.
But we really hit it off last year.
We had a great connection, and this is my first full off-season with him being the guy.
So I'm fired up with him.
He looks as good as he's ever been.
He looks confident.
He's bringing the guys along with him.
And I think he's going to have a tremendous year.
And obviously, he goes as we go.
So I think he's going to be a great player for us.
And I think we're going to catch a lot of touchdowns together.
He needs to work on his speed a little bit.
Looks a little slow out there.
Yeah.
agility-wise.
His legs move so fast.
It's like the little memes and shit to go around the internet.
It's like Kyle Murray for a touchdown.
It's one of those little like video games.
So his old school black and white people are really fast forward.
Yeah, he just, his feet move so fast.
He's so quick.
It's actually pretty impressive to watch.
It's like his arms don't move, but his feet are just moving twice as fast.
Is it weird playing with a quarterback like that?
Like that they can extend a play that long that sometimes like you've got to keep going
and like try to get open or come back to him or something.
I think it's cool because the play would be dead five seconds ago.
No, I think it's fun because you never know what's going to happen.
Like if you think you're covered, he's going to throw it and put it where you're going
to catch the ball.
If you think you're covered, he's just going to keep running around until someone gets open.
And so I just vividly remember we had a two-point conversion against the Raiders one year.
And it was like a 30-second play.
He was back there running around, doing all sorts of stuff,
and eventually made the touchdown.
So he's one of those guys that plays never over.
And our coaches emphasize that all the time that they want us to keep playing because he's tremendous at extending plays.
30 seconds and a play has to feel like an hour.
Oh, I remember that played, dude.
It was a joke.
It was crazy.
I was like, how long he was back there.
I was like, this is crazy.
Just throw it away.
I think the normal play is five to seven seconds or something.
So I think it ended up being like 29 second play.
And it was all it was like playing techno back in the day.
We just run around with Bo Jackson.
Shoot out a defensive lineman by yourself six or seven seconds.
Juk out another big O.D. lineman.
Yeah, it was fun.
We had a good time.
That's our mascot Mavericks fired up today.
Yeah, he's a big fan.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
Did you get to the E9?
Yeah, we do this little fun thing at the end and nine kind of bullshit questions about all different things.
All over the map.
Nine.
Yeah, this is where we really peel back the layers.
Should we go Celebrity Crush or Day in the Life?
Let's do both.
Okay.
Yeah.
He has a girlfriend, Lauren, she's awesome.
But this is no offense to her.
Yeah.
Celebrity crush.
Or it could be childhood if you want to.
No, that's good.
Let's do like...
Taylor Lawner.
Yeah.
Margo Robbie maybe?
It's been a lot.
She's a popular pick, believe it or not.
Margo's got some options.
Yeah.
Right now.
Yeah, and I'm willing to enable so.
Lauren, sorry, you're out.
No, that's good.
The other one is if you can be anyone in the history of time for a day, who would it be?
Ooh, that's good.
Maybe, maybe LeBron.
Okay.
LeBron, yeah, he's the man.
He's the best at his job.
Ever?
I'm a LeBron.
I'm a LeBron.
Oh, God.
This is the age shit we get into.
We're old.
You're young.
Yeah.
But I think a guy like him would be cool to just the day and the life of him, he's the man.
You know, to be the second greatest of all time would be really cool.
Be right there behind the goat.
But you still smash on people's face?
Does that be sick?
Yeah, no doubt.
No doubt.
You and wrong.
Well, let's give him the other one that we used to do since we're just throwing them all out.
Movie made about your life, you get an actor to play you.
Who would you want?
Maybe Channy Tatum.
Okay.
That might be the first of that.
What, Magic Mike?
Put you over the top on that one.
That's me.
That's me right there.
That is how I am.
I don't know.
That's, I feel like, I feel like he would do a good job for me.
He would do a good job.
I can see that.
They'd have put some lifts in his shoes, but you did it done.
All right, my first one.
Scariest dude.
I'm going to call it scariest, but like, toughest dude, maybe whatever,
a guy you look across and see them on the defensive side, like, shit.
Yeah.
This is, this is going to be tough.
I think for me, Max Crosby.
He's one of those guys who's got like an endless motor.
He just doesn't fucking stop.
He just goes and goes and goes.
And like when you want him to stop, he doesn't stop.
And he's just a freak.
Like he just never runs out of energy, a juice.
So when I had to block him, that was actually my first career game.
And that was a fun one.
Yeah.
What about Aaron Donald?
Aaron Donald, yeah, I got a funny story about that.
My rookie year, we had a play where I wasn't really playing a whole lot.
I was just kind of a blocking guy
would move around and they had me come in
and all I, my whole job was just,
they're not gonna block Aaron Donald.
You gotta go and cut him.
And I was like, okay, yeah, all week.
I was just, ah, this is your one play.
You gotta make this happen.
It was like third or fourth play of the game.
They call it.
I go and dive at his legs and he just jumps right over me,
grabs the running back, throws the running back on the ground.
And I was just like, I go up to my coach.
He's like, dude, I don't even know what to tell you, bro.
Like, that's just a,
yeah, that's just a first.
Yeah, that's just a friend.
freak like that was just a freak play
but we need another dude
anyone else I'm making that play
but he just jumped right over me
and made the play it was kind of
he's done right yeah yeah yeah it's a lot of happy
people a lot of happy old coordinators
out there right now our guy's one of them
so yeah yeah we're happy
that crosbie too on hard knocks
when they were doing the dolphin like he's just in
even when he's not making a play like it's just
in the quarterback shit every play like always making him
feel him you know yeah he's a he's a star
he's a dog now that leads perfectly to my next
question because we see at the end of the season, their quarterbacks, give the, give the
offensive line, a nice gift at the end of the area. It's been golf carts, golf clubs,
Louis bags, whatever it is. But tight ends aren't included in that, should they be? I mean,
you just got to have to block Aaron Donald. That's bullshit. Yeah, I think they should be, you know,
I'm going to, I'm going to make my pitch this year. I'm going to, you know, see what, see what I can do,
but no, I think they should be because we block just as much, we catch the ball for them. We do
it all. We keep them, we keep them safe, do it all. So, uh,
You know, he could just throw us something.
I don't know.
I'm not asking for much, but, you know, it's just a little something.
I know you're not a nice deal, dude.
You block and catch.
You do more than the, you know.
No doubt.
No doubt.
Yeah.
You're both sides.
Caller, I know you're listening.
Since you've been there in the two years.
He got him.
I don't know.
I don't remember when he got him my rookie year.
I think it was a golf clubs.
Yeah, the truth.
Oh, yeah.
They all did a fitting at true spec.
Yeah, they did a true spec golf clubs.
And then last year he did a custom Louis Vuitton duffel bag where it had their name on.
and it was all nice and pretty and
it was really cool it was a nice gift
for those guys just go over and be like nice back guys
yeah I was like nice guys uh where's the one
I was like in my yeah I was looking in my lock I didn't see
one here's my Nike duffel bag I was like maybe
mine was late I think yeah it's still coming
yeah that's not right that's not right
y'all got to be taken care of um all right go back to the combine
they ask weird shit to these dudes like you always hear like a couple of the
crazy questions weirdest thing you got to ask at the combine
I actually, I don't remember who asked me.
I wish I did, because I actually, the way that whole process works, you're just,
your mind spinning, you go from one room to another, and they're just asking you questions.
But one guy, they asked me, they're like, if you were to kill someone, would you stab them or shoot them?
And I was like, yeah, I swear, I was like, I thought it was a joke.
I was like, yo, like.
You can't be asking tight ends that question anymore, by the way, you know what?
But no, it was like the crazy, like, I was like, is this about football or what?
And I was like, well, I don't really, I've never really thought about that.
What's the right answer?
What are they looking for?
I would never murder someone or like, I'd stab him in the face and take every laugh.
Like, I don't know what's the right.
I didn't know what the right answer was.
So I was real timid.
I was like, I don't really know.
I'd probably stab him.
I don't know.
Then I'd shoot him to make sure he's dead.
Yeah, it was crazy.
I thought he was joking, but they were not not joking at all.
If you would have said shoot him, you'd have on the first round.
Yeah, he's like, we're getting you right now, buddy.
He doesn't have it.
We're putting your name in now.
I like everything I heard.
Welcome to the organization.
I'm taking Bryson DeShambo off the board because you said it earlier.
But golfer, that would make the best tight end.
Ooh, that's hard.
You got one?
I'm trying to think.
I got one.
Yeah.
You got to know golf pretty good, I think, to get it.
I mean, I would say Brooks Kepka.
Oh, Brooks, yeah, Brooks would be a good one.
He's like, he's got that dog, you know what I mean?
He's a bigger guy.
I think he would be good.
I don't know if he could block anyone, but he would be, he has the size to do it.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, he's a big boy.
I would say Fino.
Okay.
About your 6-4, rangey.
He's too nice.
He's not a blocker.
He's a catcher of the rock.
He's a receiving.
Yeah, he's a skinny dude.
He's not going to be.
He ain't cutting Aaron Donald.
Yeah, yeah, that much.
Well, not many do.
No.
Not many are, man.
Not many are.
Big question for your.
Huge debate recently, courtesy of Austin Rivers,
said all these NFL dudes could play in the league.
You, as I've come to find out,
are the all-time leading score at Fort Morgan High School on your basketball team.
Shout out to you.
done and home runs and ribbies so basically all the shit you've ever done all right you get one game
for the suns next season you're going to play all the minutes yeah give me your stat line my stat line
i'm i'm probably just yeah i'm probably just going to sit outside because those guys are seven foot
and i don't really want to drive in on those but uh i i could probably seven 10 points 10 oh i like
i like 10 five and three five rebounds because just they get a 90 million dollar deal for that
Yeah, that's perfect.
You used to go do that.
Yeah.
Yeah, whether or not I can do that, that's what I think I could do.
Dude's doing way less than that getting 90.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, I'm just sitting in the corner, though, and hitting the three.
This is great.
All the NBA guys will love to hear that.
10-5 and 3-8.
Yeah, they're going to be like, fuck this guy.
Isn't it crazy?
Like, you're like, what, pushing 6-5?
Yeah.
You'd be like a baby.
You'd be a point guard.
Maybe, like a small point guard nowadays.
And I can't dribble like those guys can.
That's nuts.
When I was in high school, I played like five.
I was like a center.
and I'm not backing down Rudy Gobert or anything like that.
Yeah, that's not happening.
That's Colorado, Northern Colorado hoops right there.
Six, five, you're a center.
Yeah, you're the biggest guy in the conference.
You're going to play.
Yeah, exactly.
Good stuff.
You should definitely go to that.
And you don't get hit in the head by Max Crosby.
Yeah, there you go.
Sounds pretty sweet.
All right, you go to Colorado State, Fort Collins.
He's from Fort Collins.
Yeah.
Bigger hometown hero.
Who gets the bigger welcome when they come back to Fort Collins?
Oh, God.
Tremic Bride, or the sleys, Drew Stoltz.
I would like to,
I'm going to go with myself.
Yeah, I think I'm going to go with myself.
Yeah, I'm like, starting up outside of everything gets a little more doubt.
It's a little more love.
Just because I'm more recent, that's the only reason, you know,
if we were switched, you know, Drew would probably be the guy there.
That's right.
That's my boy.
He's making it soft landing for me.
Soft landing, yeah.
We had over to Puder High School, dude, all bets are off.
All bets are off.
Drew's the man.
Yeah, he's the mayor of Fort Collins over there.
So that's good.
What a guy you are.
All right.
last one watch these on hard knocks is why I'm asking you a love one of my favorite episodes
is when the rookies got to get up and do their little skit yeah or whatever what'd you have to do
we actually did a video um I did a video with the guy that was drafted right after me he was a third
round draft pick so j j wott and uh Zach ertz were best friends like they did everything
together they stretched together they were like everything you could if you saw one you saw
the other so cam the guy drafted under me
was under JJ. I was, you know, in the same room as Zach. So we actually made a video of us just
like holding hands. Like I was wearing all of Zach's stuff. He was wearing all of JJ's gear.
And we made like this whole video of us like holding hands and doing all this stuff together.
And it was actually, it was a hit. Yeah, I was going to say, I like that.
Yeah, it was a hit. They liked it. But the other 150 people liked it. And that's really all that
matters. So it was a good time. Making a video too takes a little. Yeah.
They did take a lot of time.
It was in the middle of training camp, and it did take a lot of time, but it was fun.
That's good call.
It was worth it.
Anytime you can bash on some of the other dudes, I feel like the squad.
Yeah, and then we threw some jabs in it, like the coaches and stuff.
Just to make it fun.
Yeah, you have to.
It was a good time.
That's probably one of the best days, you know, when all those guys get up there.
I love it.
And if they do a bad one, you're throwing stuff at them and they have to go back up there.
Go do it again.
It's the best when they get booed off.
That's a good part on hard docs, like you said, when they get up there.
It's like maybe my favorite.
The dude from the Lions.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, that was awesome.
Yeah, they do also.
Most guys sing.
Most guys have a song and they sing or they do something like that.
But it's all about the energy.
You've got to give them good, good.
If you go up there and half ass it, you're getting thrown.
You're getting stuff thrown at you and you're getting boot off and you have to go.
You have to go do it again.
So you might as well just knock it out of the park the first time and not worry about it.
That would actually, would that not be a great show if they just had a camera crew with every team
and then involved, and they just, at the end of the year, they put out like a two-hour,
like, here's all the rookie initiations.
Yeah.
That would be sick.
I'd watch the old.
You shouldn't announce these ideas.
You should keep them.
Yeah.
We own that for anyone listening.
NFL, we own that.
Pat.
All right.
Last one.
I mean, NFL football plays have just ridiculous names and sayings and all that.
So we're going to pick your golf swing is going to be an NFL play.
What would it be called?
Oh.
I write because my, good start.
Yeah.
I write because I have a little slice with it.
So it's a power cut, actually.
It's power fade.
It's called a fade.
It's not a slice.
I write, I'm going to probably, I don't know.
It's got to be missile.
We have X missile or Y.
Let's go Y missile because I'm the tight end.
So it's going to be called I write Y missile,
and it's just going to be a freaking all go.
Everyone's going and it's a bomb down the middle of the field.
So just like my drive, you know, fairway finders, just like that.
So that's how I'm going right.
direction of where the ball's probably going to go, but a missile, something missile.
I write Y missile.
Why missile?
Why missile?
Why missile?
I write.
I write Y missile 335 go.
Yeah, well, we need a protection.
Yeah, we need a protection.
So we got to do, the O line would be lost if that's what we called.
Well, shit, I don't care about them.
They get gifts at the end of the other.
That was a nice scoop.
And you tied into your golf, that was impressive.
Yeah, that was impressive.
That was good.
That was a lot of fun.
Really appreciate it.
Got to get out and tee it up and best luck this season.
Yeah.
Thank you guys.
having me on. This was awesome.
Appreciate you, dude.
We'll do it again, and we'll be looking forward to seeing this year.
Yeah, no doubt.
Appreciate it.
Yeah.
All right, that was Trey McBride joining us on golf subpar.
That was a lot of fun.
That is a massive human.
I mean, dude, I just had to throw it out there.
Like, when I shook his hand, I'm like, oh, my God, he probably thinks I'm the biggest, softest motherfucker.
He does.
I shouldn't probably say that out loud.
No, he could say that.
But softest dude on the planet.
No, he does.
How would you not?
I mean, he's literally just ate my hand.
It's just not even the same species, dog.
They're so enormous.
When we were up at the 8 a.m. tournament in Vegas, we were messing around.
He's, like, looking at my clubs.
Let me see what you got here.
I put him out.
His grips are a tennis racket.
And I was like, oh, my God.
That's when I first, I was like, holy shit, look at this glove.
Like, you got to get, I mean, the gloves, I don't even know where he gets him.
Dude, he's just, it makes sense why it's such a nasty, like all those dudes, like D.
D. Hop, you know, anyone catching the ball out there, they're just crazy myths.
Basically, the only thing that kept me from being a tight-in was my small hands.
Hands was it, dude.
Everything else, all the other.
Tangibles and intangibles?
You freaking had it.
But I love that you go like, I'd buy a double X glove
and then just stretch it and get on
and I couldn't take it off, so I just had to put with it on.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And dude, by the way, like he's, I think he's what we're talking to Mark
was he the third, highest, fourth highest tight end in fantasy right now.
He's a monster, dude.
Look out for him.
I think he and Kyler, from what he tells me, have a great rap.
He's going to have a, I think he's going to have a very big year.
And like, this doesn't mean a whole lot to anyone unless you're from the area.
But like, coming from Fort Morgan, Colorado, dude, like, that ain't a lot.
lot. They're not a lot of people making it out of there to do what he's doing right now.
And they don't come any nicer than him, too. He's an awesome, easy guy to root for.
Pretty solid golfer for having, like, literally just started.
I love it. Big boy. It was a lot of fun to sit down with him.
But it's a little left or right. If you can believe it. Just slight.
Those guys, they're so, upper body's so big. They can't swing right. He's like Litsky.
A lot like Litsky. Him, JJ Watt. They play a little fade.
Yeah. Or slice. It's hard to get it underneath.
All right, let's get to some gambling.
We didn't actually make any picks last week because we had to do an emergency pod,
so we didn't lose.
So obviously we had Robert McIntyre.
We're officially hot.
And Ben Griffin as a dark horse.
Heavy on Bobby Mac.
I thought Ben Griffin was a great sleeper, by the way.
All right.
Well, we got the memorial this week.
Jack's Place, Mirfield Village.
Did hear some news that's going to change the 18th hole quite a bit.
Apparently, you know, the tree that's on the right side of the fairway there by those
bunkers fell down.
Fell down?
I'm getting word about that.
No, no, definitely.
Trees falling down all over this place.
Changing golf courses is crazy.
This is an unbelievable event, signature event, loaded field.
Everyone's playing, except for Robert McIntyre.
He said, I'm taking my ass home back to Scotland.
I'm a party.
Respect that.
Love that.
Surprise, surprise.
Scotty Sheffler is your favorite, and he's a massive one.
But for me, my favorite, I'm going to the defending champion.
I think he's found it.
Starting to play some really good golf.
Back with Joe Mayo.
Loves this golf course.
I saw it today.
He averages just over $800,000 a start at Mearfield Village.
give me Victor Hovlin.
18 to 1.
This is starting to get a little bit weird
because I feel like this never used to happen
and now it's happened multiple times
in the last few weeks.
I got the same guy for pretty much all the same reasons.
Dude, how quickly it came back for him
just going back to OJ Mayo.
getting the Mayo man back.
OJ. Mayo.
Did I just say OJ Mayo?
Why do you think of OJ Mayo?
That's a throwback.
Throwback.
All this basketball talk.
But how quickly it came back.
How quickly it was shocking.
Damn, everyone won the PGA.
that's weird. I got the same guy.
Yeah, I walked with him on Sunday there at the PGA
and look like the hobby of old. Striping it,
picking up the T. Don't change shit now.
Yeah, seems to be in a good spot.
Joe, whatever you want him to pay you, Victor just pay him.
O.J. Don't change it.
Don't pay OJ. Mayo. He doesn't need it.
My Dark Horse, this surprises me.
Like I said, it's a signature event.
All this guy does is win big events,
and you're getting him at 50 to 1.
U.S. Open champion, Windham Clark?
I mean, it's a big ballpark.
There's some really nice for him.
some juicy burgers down here in like the 50 to 60 range with names that are like, yeah,
major champs, like top 10 players in the world. It's, it's, there's a lot of them.
I know he hasn't been playing that great lately, but with him, it just seems like it doesn't
really matter. Like I don't look at his last month of form going into a tournament and be like,
oh, he's playing really good. It's got to come now. It's like, these guys are so good they can find
at any moment. Signature event, over three and a half million to the winner. Windham seems to
like those. He very much does like those. All right. I'm going here. I'm going with Brains and
heart here. I really want this guy to win a monster event and he's going to. Going at 55 to 1.
Miss the cut last week, shot of gris. But first missed cut since Sony. Been playing a lot.
Just needed a little break, a little breather. Had a very nice PJ Championship was there all the way
till Sunday, not the greatest round. Sahith, the Gala, 55 to 1. Okay. Yeah. I wanted to play hard.
I think the more harder it plays, the more missed greens there are, like his short game around there.
That's a huge weapon, more so than other places. Well, as of right now, the forecast looks incredible. I looked
at it on the plane on the way here.
Mid to high 70s each day, no rain, which would be awesome,
because those crowds up there get very, very fun.
And I'm looking forward to it.
You can find me at the Bogie Inn, Yogis, whatever.
I'll be around.
You will be around.
It's a good time.
Keep that drone high in the sky, bud.
I'll take the drone to the bogey in.
It doesn't happen again.
All right.
Well, thanks to everybody for listening.
We'll talk to you on next week's subpar.
