season long.
Sweeps, takes, activations, probably some invitations to the white party, I would have
assume. That's TBD. One can only expect that, though. All right. Well, let's get to it this week.
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is in the books. Roy McElroy, 27th PGA Tour win. End up winning
by two over Shane Lowry, but he put this thing to bed with an incredible eagle on the par five,
14th. Just a little driver in seven iron slees. Yeah, for the second time that week. Didn't know
that was a club that you could hit into that hole. Granted, the wind was down and all that.
There's some other guys hitting irons into that hole, but driver seven on 14, did
know that was something
that you could do. Next time you get out there to the Monterey
Peninsula, just step up, hit it
right of that massive tree,
and just hit a little draw. Back into the fairway, carry
it at 338, sling you a seven iron
up there from 200, tap it in for Eagle. Nothing
in it, really. It's just a little chippy
par five. Remember when it used to be like,
is this green too severe to handle the third shots
because not many people reach it? Well, that didn't change.
Well, yeah, but now I'm like, who cares?
They're hitting seven iron into the thing.
When he gets driving it like that,
and everything, like, it takes pressure
drop everything, obviously, but it becomes tough.
And if the Rory hype train, if you're worried about it being fired up by Augusta time,
don't worry anymore because Augusta and Quaul Hall of that PGA, the first two majors
of the year, I mean, he's going to have, this is, everyone's going to be looking at him
to end that drought.
No doubt about it.
It's been since 2014.
I have picked him to end that drought.
I've picked him to win two majors, didn't you?
This year.
He's been playing so well.
He's been doing everything but win.
and he went out there and took care of business this week.
That's Saturday, 65 in the cold, windy, and rainy conditions.
I mean, I was out there.
It sucked.
I followed Shane Lowry that day, who also shot 65.
It was so impressive.
I mean, these guys were hitting T shots back into the wind that were going 245 yards.
There's no better guy I don't think in shitty conditions than Shane Lowry.
Like, the worst it is, the more I'm like, he's going to be good.
Dude, watching Tom Kim, although it took a while to get to it, the seven iron on seven that he hit.
That was cool.
I mean, I mean, just chipping it.
It was fun to watch.
It was fun to see guys.
to struggle for par, but then you look up at the end of the week, like, oh, the weather was
terrible.
It was tough.
21 still for Rory, you know?
Like, God imagine if it was 70 and sunny what it would have been.
Yeah, it's always an awesome week out there.
It was a star-studded field.
Scotty Sheffler made his season debut, knocked off a little rust, just went out and finished
T-9.
Yeah, a little disappointing.
Ninth.
God.
After slicing his hand and a half.
Yeah.
Unbelievable.
A slight betting favorite this week in Phoenix, the Vegas has them.
Yeah, if you look at Fanatics.
Right now he's at plus 280.
So 2.8 to 1 to win the WM Phoenix Open.
It's insanity.
I mean, he hasn't finished outside the top eight here
in like his last four times with a couple wins also.
It's where it all started, by the way,
just a handful of years ago.
Miss the cut in his first ever WM. Phoenix Open.
And since then, he figured it out.
He's figured out and he likes it here a lot.
But we're going to get to our picks a little later.
I want to give a huge shout out to Josh Teeter,
who won over on the Corn Ferry Tour down in Panama.
Final round 65, started the day T20,
was six back, came back, ended up winning by two on an extremely tough golf course down there,
nine under par for the week. One, it was single digits. But this is a 45-year-old man who thought
his career was probably finished. Played on the PGA tour last year, finished 214th. So had no status
on the PGA tour, had to go back to Q school, missed, had little status on the corn ferry, but
basically had to Monday qualify or get a sponsor exemption to get in, thought it was done,
got a sponsor exemption in the Bahamas, finished tied for seventh, carries a
over, gets him into Panama, goes out and win.
Now it wins, now he's second on the points list.
Just such a cool story.
Yeah, to go from nothing to, I mean, potentially.
It ain't done yet, and especially with only 20 spots out there,
but he's pretty, about as good a spot as you can be.
I think he's second now to go back to the PJ tour.
And at 45, like, you know, he talked about in his interview,
like, is it time to be done?
I don't know, but I still had a lot of passion for it.
That sponsor's invite ends up being life-changing for him.
Without that, it didn't get the chance to finish top 10.
That seventh would have reshuffled him up anyway and been a huge deal,
with the fact that he got in the next week and then one.
And on that tour where you're playing,
I mean, that tour is so young.
That's hard to keep up with those guys,
especially at 45.
So props to him, that's pretty cool deal.
Second oldest winner ever on the Corn Ferry Tour.
And 402 days, or 402 tournaments.
Starts, yeah.
Between wins.
That's a lot.
402.
A lot of people don't play that many in their life.
That's what I was saying.
If you get 400 starts on the world tours,
that's a long last time.
But they go in between wins.
Props to him.
Shout out to Josh Teeter, man.
We're so proud of you.
That was a really cool win.
And love you and your family, man.
Very proud of you.
But it's time to debut a new segment here on subpar.
We're going to zone in on something that caught our eye each week,
sponsored by Zone Nicotine and Sleaze.
I'm going to let you do the honors in week one.
What are you zoned in on?
I'm zoned in on Zone, first and foremost.
Little 9 Millie in the grill.
Helps get my mind right before we start making some bets.
But I think you'll appreciate this.
my first ever debut of who was zoned in.
I'm going to go to Los Angeles Lakers.
Why you got to do that?
It's extremely zoned in to, in the middle of the night,
while half the world was asleep, just come into Dallas and swoop their franchise player,
the most beloved guy in the city of Dallas probably, and just package them up,
ship him over to L.A.
Oh, and here's Anthony Davis.
I mean, it's 31 and banged up.
It's a horrible trait.
Not that Anthony Davis is bad, but he ain't Luca.
And you didn't get like seven picks or anything either.
It was more or less pretty straight up from Luca, the AD.
And he's 31 and gets hurt a lot.
Luca hadn't exactly been a beacon of health,
but he's also 25 and when he's healthy.
I mean, he single-handedly took you to the finals last year.
And then apparently Jason Kidd didn't know.
Nobody knew.
So Lakers zoned in and just poor Dallas.
You guys got to, this is dark times.
Nobody informed me that Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Mavericks.
A little distraction.
And decided to be the GM there too.
A little distraction tactic.
That sucks, man.
I hope it works out.
Luca, I mean, that's your guy.
You made a trade for him.
draft night, could have had Trey Young, decided to go with Luca and thought this was going to be,
I mean, this was going to be like our next Dirk Novitsky, who was the face of the franchise for
his entire career, probably have a statue outside of American Airlines Center one day.
Not no more.
Something weird happened.
This doesn't just go down like that with those two players in the middle of a night on a
like 10 o'clock, you know, on a Saturday.
People are in bed.
Like that just doesn't happen.
People are in bed.
Yeah.
This isn't when you ink trades in the NBA.
Like, yeah, I'll hop on the phone.
It's midnight, Dallas time.
Yeah, do you guys want Luca?
And they didn't even shop them around.
Success never sleeps.
Man, Lakers.
Now they get another freaking superstar.
All right.
All right.
Well, speaking of our friends at Zone,
we have a very special video coming to y'all.
You're going to make sure you want to turn in,
tune into our YouTube page because we are riding the sandrails
with NASCAR driver, Kyle Bush.
This was unbelievable.
These souped up Polaris vehicles.
It was freaking terrifying, Sleece.
Yeah.
Especially doing it the day after falling a big night in Vegas.
Not ideal.
I did, in fact, puke afterwards.
And Kyle has it on video.
Kyle does have it on.
That was the happiest I've ever seen him, by the way.
He's like, yes.
It was a hell of a good time.
Shout out of the zone for putting that together.
You actually had a few balls out of the dunes.
I thought very impressive ball striking, given the circumstances.
Yeah, teeing the ball up in the sand wasn't easy, but I did stripe it.
But make sure you stay tuned to subpar and golf.com for the full video coming to you in the next few weeks.
Well, let's get to our picks this week.
First picks with Fanatic Sportsbook.
If you don't have the app, make sure you go download it.
We got the Super Bowl this week where the Chiefs minus one and a half point favorites over that team that wears green.
Let's do both Super Bowl and golf picks.
Known as the Philadelphia Eagles.
All right, well, mine's easy for the Super Bowl because I cannot pick the Philadelphia Eagles.
That would go against everything that I preach every football season.
So give me the Chiefs, the Chief Pete, three in a row, minus one and a half.
I feel like you're sneaky Philly fan.
There's just trying to hide it.
There's zero chance.
Well, I've been saying, yeah, I've been saying this will be boring then.
I'm taking Kansas City Chiefs too.
Until somebody beats them, until someone proves they can do it,
it's hard to bet against them and they got a guy that's just head and shoulders better than everyone else.
So until I'm proven wrong, I'll be betting Kansas City Chiefs as well, which sucks.
It's beat three in a row, and they have a stranglehold on the AFC West.
Yes, they do.
For a long time.
All right.
Well, let's get to the golf.
WM. Phoenix Open.
As we said, Scotty Sheffler, is your favorite.
plus 280 at Fanatic Sports
book right now to win, which is just
absurd. Like, I do
think he's going to win, but I'm not
picking that. So for me, my bet
this week, my favorite golf bet of the week,
I'm going to top 10 play at plus
140. Give me Justin Thomas.
Plus 140. He likes this place a lot.
He's playing nice.
But, hey,
I like where he's at. He loves this golf course,
loves this tournament. Finish runner up
in the desert at Amex. We're going to have very
similar conditions this week. He's
He's not scared of the crowd.
He's going to play well.
I do not mind sprinkling a little something on him at 12 to 1 to go get the W either.
Yeah, I think the dove's coming.
It's hard to believe it's been since that PGA that he got his last one,
but he looks good to start off this season.
Don't hate that.
Takes the right kind of guy to, I think, embrace the Phoenix Open.
I'm going to stay in the top 10 zone as well for my pick of the week.
Give me Sahith Thigala plus 350.
Top 10.
Yeah, I'm kind of going out on a limb.
It's kind of like with my heart.
I want him to play with it.
I love him.
He's so fun to watch.
Love watching his short game.
Played out here a few years ago on a sponsor's invite.
Damner won the thing without a horrible bounce on 17 that kicked left and went into the water there.
But he's played well here.
There wasn't a lot of pebble to make you think.
But it's kind of with the conditions and stuff.
I'm throwing that away.
I'm going to take – I just wanted something with a little gas to it plus 350.
And I like so hit.
Yeah, the weather's going to be perfect all week.
Of course, it's going to be firm, fast.
It should be a lot of fun.
There's going to be a ton of people out there.
I can't wait for.
it to get started. And our guest this week, you believe in the subpar effect? Maybe sprinkle
a little something on him because our guest, Siwu Kim, is going off at 80 to one to win the WM
Phoenix Open. Listen, I've said it on here many times. It's one of my favorite guys on the
PGA tour. I got to applaud him for coming on here. English is not his first language,
but he is hilarious and it was a lot of fun sitting down with him. Yeah, without question. One of the
great personalities, and it's kind of been hidden for a while just because it is hard to
give interviews when you're, you know, struggling to learn a new language.
And shout out to him, came in here, did it, and he's a guy hard not to like.
Yes, he's fantastic.
And he gives you a little tip how to play TPC Sawgrass at the very end.
So make sure you stay tuned to that.
Here's Siwu Kim on Subpar.
All right, we have a fan favorite here with us from the PJ Tour.
Four-time winner, youngest winner ever of the Players Championship,
been shaking that ass ever since.
C. Wu, Kim, pleasure to be.
be with you thank you thanks for having me see you my favorite player on the pGA tour and i'm not
afraid to admit that it's been a long time coming we're glad to have you can i say the first thing
i never knew you had such great hair under the hat and i've seen the flow before it's good
yeah every time i make bogey's came on great yeah i'm more great pull out of hair yeah i like that
i like that well let's talk a little bit about your you're living in dallas right now yes and you
recently joined rollox country club which is home of scottie schaffler as well as many
other idiots that are over there.
You've been playing some golf with some of my boys.
How's Royal Oak's been treating you?
Yeah, it's been good.
I like the course and then I like the practice area.
And then, yeah, he's always once a week, play with the guys.
And then sometimes Scotty, his slot to run from him or around him.
Who's easier to beat, Scotty or Frank Voight?
Frank.
Yeah, by a long try.
Yeah, anyway, Scotty does, I don't even expect.
Does Scotty ever lose out there?
I don't think so, but he lose sometimes.
I mean, if he keeps winning, they're going to make him give more shots, I would think.
You can't, there's going to come a point where it's like, all right, dude, you're getting 16.
Like, of course, you make a few pars.
You're going to win, I would think.
You play with him much, though?
Is it just the local folks?
I've been playing.
Folks.
Yeah, local folks.
And then I've been playing twice with the Scotty, but I wasn't even close.
He wasn't even close.
He got you pretty good.
I like that.
Slees mentioned Siwu shaking that ass, shaking that ass.
Yeah.
You know, Jordan kind of made that famous up there at the President's Cup in New York.
Was that the first time you'd ever heard that?
Yes.
What'd you think?
On the tea, like, I was so scared to, like, first presence called, like, all the old presents there.
And then, like, Scottish chef.
No, no, no, Jordan's piece.
And then Patrick Reed first match.
And then I went to the tea bowl.
Box and they're singing my like shaking ass, Sue shaking that ass, I was pretty funny.
That's awesome.
Yeah, where did it come from?
Is it just like the crowd made it up or something like that?
Yeah, the Australian fans, they met us on all the players.
Oh, nice.
Yeah, those Aussie guys are crazy.
They're the best.
Yeah, that's great.
I mean, I'll follow you for, I got to imagine every tournament you're at.
Somebody's yelling that out.
Yeah, every week.
Yeah, that's good.
I like that.
You're not one of the veterans on the international presidents cup team.
What are those weeks like for you?
Are you one of the kind of guys everybody looks up to?
Are you the guy giving pep talks to?
No, there is Adam Scott always been...
I don't know how much he played.
11 President's Cup now.
11 or 12?
Yeah.
Like, I'm just quiet and listening.
You're not the jockster?
No.
Maybe only with the Korean voice,
but I'm kind of like...
My English is not great, so kind of shy.
It's pretty good, by the way.
When did you start giving, like, interviews in English?
How long did it take?
I've been trying pretty much first year, but wasn't very good.
And then, yeah, it was struggle for his four years.
Still struggle, but now this day is less.
Credit to you.
I mean, got to be impossible to learn English.
And some people just don't ever do it, and you've done it.
And now you're really good at it.
You speak better English than Gary Woodland.
Yeah, without question.
And no doubt about it.
And that's the only language you speaks.
Let's talk about the President's Cup, though, a little bit more.
Like, obviously, it's been rather one-sided.
Team USA has been pretty dominant.
What do you think we need to do to make this thing for y'all to get your first victory in quite some time?
I think it's, like, really hard to bid Team U.S., but we have, I think we bring.
a lot of energy from Tom Kim started.
So we like always been like some days really close
or Friday or Saturday we're getting closer.
But Sunday a little bit tricky, like a lot of matches and a lot of points.
So I think we kind of figured out like how to like play and then how to like enjoy.
So we just need to keep trying and trying.
It's getting closer.
The blitz and the second.
session where you swept everyone what was the vibe like in the locker room after you guys
finish that off get blitzed and then blitzed right back yeah it was first day wasn't wasn't
bad like every matches missed by one yeah missed by whole one and then next day we maybe we can
we can do it and then we fill it and then what is that for yeah full bowl always been we been
doing great so we had it all swap and then it was good and then Saturday we
wasn't bad too and then you seem to be a guy that leans into like the crowd like tom cam trying to
get everybody going right off the jump right some people just never do it and that's fine there's
on the u.s side same way and some guys really lean into it i feel like you especially yeah you had the
dirt you know you had the night night and all the shit i feel like you love playing in front of
like kind of showing off i guess in front in that type of environment yeah yeah always like match play
need to be something like brings brings on fire like some
I don't know why, but I love to, like, not on purpose, but like, all from a need to energy,
from, especially Tom Kim, and then I can enjoy it.
I always enjoyed it for sure.
And then, like, yeah, I've always been trying to get fired up.
Yeah, but you can't do it in, like, regular tournaments.
So you look weird.
You start doing shit on Thursday morning.
Relax.
But in that, it's like, expected.
Almost people, like, want it.
Yeah.
I think, yeah, sometimes maybe even.
Because every match is like Sunday kind of important match.
I think you should birdie the first whole Thursday and do the night night.
Just be like, guess what guys, y'all are done.
This is my week.
Any birdie going forward, I think you just do it.
It's like you're missing the cut by three.
I mean, Chesson Hadley does the snap thing.
You just go like night night.
I think you just lean into that.
Were you shocked at how much?
I feel like that got a ton of attention.
That was sick shot, by the way.
But I feel like that celebration got so much.
Didn't Steph even reach out?
Didn't he post something on Instagram?
Yeah, he texts me the Instagram story.
That's sick.
Yeah, it was my favorite NBA basketball player.
So it was kind of sick, but next time I'll do.
May wait a little longer?
I do celebrate your ass off.
I don't blame you.
Do you follow American sports?
Yes, I like to go see NBA a lot.
So when I'm home, like to, like, two.
weeks of like always go always go to maps game or sometimes like this game why the hell
did they trade Luca I don't know man that's what's the house going on in that city
yeah that one that one's stuck who are some of your guys when you're out on tour that like you
do dinner with or practice rounds with I think pretty much old Korean players
Sung Jay Benon used to be as Y no Songkang San keng sang moon but now
sometimes Tom came, so.
Who normally pays for dinner the most?
Me?
Yeah.
I figured so.
I like that.
Good friend.
Say on the Korea topic for a minute because over there, it's well documented, like,
this is the mandatory military service.
Unless you, what, win a goal that the Asian games or medal in the Olympics,
are those the only two things that can get you?
You can win a major as well.
You can win a major, doesn't it?
Not Kant major.
Oh, no major?
Yeah, I think it's just those two.
Which you've done you won with Sung Jay at the Asian games, but is that not like the pressure on that at the Asian game specifically, I would think is like this is we got to go. We got to have it. Is it the most pressure? Yeah, and then like used to be only amateurs, but when I played that was the first time can't play the pros. So some countries only have amateurs. So only like we're the only two like real PJ tour players. So.
Man, you beat the shit out of it.
Yeah, that's nice for y'all.
If it lost, like, feel like kind of pressure,
because all the country has the amateurs, too.
So, yeah, it's kind of nervous, pretty nervous.
First whole, like, I'm shaking.
Yeah, you should win, but.
More nervous there or President's Cup?
I mean, different kind of pressure, but I'll say both.
Yeah, both.
Do you get nervous in regular PGA tour events anymore?
No.
Like Sunday, like getting closer, yes, but not till Saturday.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right, before we get back to our interview with Siwu Kim, I want to tell you about
Golf Zone.
It's an indoor golf simulator company.
Golf Zone has been capitalizing on the excitement around SimGolf by organizing a TGL style
competition for regular people representing and competing from their hometowns.
They started by choosing 12 of their best facilities to each field, a team of
five players. The players showed up to play three-on-three matches against other locations with
simulators linked over the internet. After a seating round in a college football-style playoff
bracket, they narrowed the field to just two teams, Golf Invy from L.A. and T-Times from
Detroit. Golf Zon held the finals at the PGA show last week where Team Golf Envy from L.A.
bested T-Times from Detroit to take home the $150,000 prize. Landon Ashworth and Emma Carpenter, were
there in person calling the match.
We had a player say he was going to chip in, Landed doubted him.
He made it and then stared Landon down.
Golf envy.
Where do you go after you win something big?
Disney World, of course, the next day.
The whole tour was a huge success,
and they're definitely doing it again with a lot more teams for season two.
Follow Golf Zone America on social and visit GolfZoneTour.com to watch highlights
from this year's competition and to stay up to date on upcoming events.
Now back to Siwu.
I want to go back to the early years when you got your card at PGA Tour QS
school because you were only 17 years old and PJ tour rule is you have to be 18 to play so you had to
miss the first half of the season when you went out there let me ask you why did you go to Q school
at such a young age if you knew you couldn't play on the PJ tour like honestly I didn't know it
if I like through the Q school I thought I was I can play everything I mean whole season I wasn't
even think about like through the Q school but all around people me talking to me like
this is the last time opportunity to go to PJ tour straightly so that was the last
Q school go to the PJ tour like directly yeah so that's why I play for like
experience and then I get through I started pre-qualifying like 120 degree in
Palm Spring it was bad and then yeah I kept through through through and then last day
before 6th run.
Like, I was pretty much 20th place.
And then was NBC Sports?
They interviewing me.
Like, if we go through the Q school, you can't play until June 28th.
Now I realize I can't play if I go through.
Last one you found out on the interview?
Yeah, last day before, before last day.
So I was kind of shocked.
But anyway, I got to go through it.
So I play.
What did you say when they told you that?
We're like, are you joking me right now?
Kind of, yeah, kind of like that.
But anyway, I got to go through first and think about things.
And then you get to play.
And you miss seven cuts and have a withdrawal the rest of the season.
Not great.
Not great.
Like, yeah, I was playing mid-school, high school guys, and then get PJ tour, like directly.
I was shocking.
And then first time I was debut, peddle.
bitch and then I'm playing practice around on the first tee. Dustin Johnson came up right behind me like
I'm trying to hit a first tee shot for practice around oh Dustin Johnson they're like shaking
love that. Yeah. Was the plan always to turn pro that young? Did you ever consider like hey I'll go
to college or maybe college in the States or anything? No, I was in Korea national team so I
I play all the Asian Amir, like Asia Pushpeak.
I played first time I came here, Terry Pines, like Calaway, Calaway Jr.?
The World Junior?
Yeah, World Junior World.
Yeah, that was the first time my tournament in the U.S.
And that was it.
And then I wasn't even think about the proton.
And then the guy telling me, this is the last Q's cool ever.
So you've got to go try.
I mean, that's pretty impressive at 17 to make it through every stage and then get your card at finals.
It's really cool.
Other than Tiger Woods, like, who were your favorites growing up that you looked up to?
Tiger Woods and Erniehl's Sergio Garcia.
Okay.
Yeah.
What about KJ?
Okay, for sure.
Yeah, you should probably say KJ.
You might get in trouble.
Yeah, he might get trouble.
We'll name him first.
We'll name him first.
Talk about the junior program up there
Because you said you're on the national team
It's junior golf enormous
Just golf as a whole over there
Are there some young kids like coming up
That you think can follow in your footstep
Maybe not do it at 17
But like is the talent pool deep in Korea?
Yeah a lot of like young kids have like talent
But like
It's hard to
Hard to like
Get more junior population
because there's so many expensive golf clubs and then they can afford it like 500 600 around
and then there's no good facility in korea because too many buildings in there and then like
it's hard to play when i grow up like i only hit indoor like just kept hitting shot hitting
Yeah, you're trying to go like short game, like some course get there, like they kick me out.
Really?
You go like early and...
Yeah, you got to get the tea time.
And then you can put like before 30 minutes or after.
But when you have no tea time, you can't, you can't like party in a short game thing.
Is it so in, I was in Japan for the Asia Pacific late last year.
I was wondering if it's like this in Korea, but over there, they play nine holes and then stop for like an hour and a half for lunch.
I like that.
And then go play.
Same thing in Korea?
Yeah, that was, that's the best thing.
It's like six hours.
Yeah.
That's beautiful.
Yeah.
I think that's why all the wives hated, like, when they go out the Gulf.
Like, even if T.O. 8 a.m., they finished, like, 6 p.m.
Beautiful.
Yeah, it's a full day, as it should be.
Guys want to get out of the house.
You know what I mean?
I'll say what I was actually over in Korea this past year.
We played a place called Haisley.
Have you ever heard of Haisley?
It's outside.
Oh, yeah, that's CJ-O-uns.
Yeah, C.J.A.O. Exactly. By the way, it's like two million to join.
When we're talking about how expensive it is, it's a joy. I mean, it's super nice.
They got everything there, but it's like two million.
I'll tell you what was cool, though, was the caddies over there.
They're all women and a little, like, not kids.
They were probably 30, late 20s and stuff.
But, like, what an honor it was for them.
Like, that's a huge job over there.
They were, like, hands down the greatest caddies in the history of life.
life over that. I didn't know the women where I got into it like that in terms of like the caddy
Oh yeah. We were in Japan at the Asia Pacific and every caddy was every one we had. Yeah.
Was a girl and they were awesome. Awesome.
Every time trying to hit shot they grabbing like 20 clubs and give it to this guy give to this guy give it to this guy and like it took two holes and there's only cards on pass.
So then it would say I had 170 like she'd show up with eight seven. I was like yeah those are the exact ones I need like it took her like one hole you know.
Professionals. Exactly.
You should dump manning and get one of those.
Yeah, sounds way better.
Send Mani over for like a six-month training course over there.
Yeah, they get it.
They get it.
The players championship.
I know you obviously were the youngest winner ever at 21 years old.
You've had a lot of success there.
You love that golf course.
But take us when you get to 17 on Sunday with a chance to win.
How are the nerves?
That time, I didn't know, like, I mean, I knew it.
That's the like fifth major, called fifth major and the biggest tournament pretty much on the PJ tour.
But I didn't know that time was it that big.
So I wasn't, I wasn't scared much because I was leading by three, like, and you until 16.
So I have no pressure until 16 and get their 17 kind of like nervous.
Yeah, there's water everywhere.
Yeah, and the win, especially off the right, but sometimes change hurting and health.
helping every time. So I don't know what to die. Just hit the middle of the green. Yeah.
It was very smart. It's a tough place to close. Yeah. Yeah. Did you know you're going to be
that if you won that you were going to be the youngest ever win it? No, no idea. It's probably good.
You don't know that either. Just no less. That's the way. Dustin Johnson,
just worked for a long time. You know what I mean? What's your favorite stop on the PJ tour?
Favorite tournament? I like players and like Pabble Masters. Masters.
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, you just finished 12th at Pebble this past week.
Nice little payday.
These $20 million purses.
Yeah.
12th is pretty nice.
Yeah, smart to play good in those.
Yeah, it was like $350,000, $400,000 for like 12th.
Jeez.
Not bad.
Not too bad.
What major do you think represents your best chance?
Like which one suits?
You played them all.
I think you had the 12th at Augusta last year.
Like 12th in all was the best finish, I think.
Yeah.
Which, do you have a major that you're like this?
I think this could be the one.
all the major is really hard i mean i've been playing but i wasn't even close in one time but
i i would say the open is the if i have chance maybe the open really yeah just because
dinger you can hit the ball low and i don't have to hit it far maybe yeah because whatever
just running up to 20 and roll 80 yards so you
Well, it's not like you hit it short.
Yeah.
I mean, you hit it pretty far.
But I think that's the only chance, maybe if I have a chance.
What would you say your favorite hole at Augusta National is?
15, probably?
15.
You know, maybe 15?
Maybe damaged your putter a little there?
Anything cool ever happened?
Anything cool ever happened on 15?
Yeah, 15, 16.
Yeah.
What was your, at Augusta, when you broke your putter?
And you had to put with your three wood.
What were you thinking?
I played really good and then first
Was like type for fifth six right and then I play really good like all the drivers
Fairway irons like pretty much every time like inside 10 feet and I wasn't party good
So I missed like five feet two in a row. I was so pissed then Thursday. I missed the over the green 15 and then
chip chip a short make par and then
same day Friday over the green chip it long and make par I mean when I chip it like
pretty much over the green but like sitting at the edge yeah I was so pissed like doing
same day two in a row and then already two-past miss and I was just not to it wasn't purpose
yeah I grip it like wrong side and then and then the you know the different shaft like
this part, that thing is like,
oh, fuck. You knew right when you did it?
Because I just saw that it was bent. They said it was bent.
I didn't see it, but you knew right when you did it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It popped it.
How did you put with the three? How many pots did you have coming home with the three
wood? 15, 16, 17, 18. Did you make anything?
No, but it was 16 was
20, 25 feet. Pin was the middle right. And then I was in the left back.
like hard to two-pot and i two-potted 17 almost 30 35 that's okay that's like that
that's a hard two-putt or putter anyway 17 was amazing two-pot with the yeah three wood why three-wood
like i've tried a lot with the wedges but i can't i can't hit it straight like start line
so three would way easier because i used you're staying so far from it's like an arm lock
It's like the length of an arm lock, too.
So if you lean it a little, it's actually pretty good.
Toe up or heel up.
But I never tried that, but I always off the green, like, tight lice used to roll with the five with the rube of the rube.
So I think that helps.
Okay.
Other than the Korean players, who's like your favorite PGA tour player to get paired with?
Scotty, Rory.
Oh, just the good guys.
That's all the greatest.
Yeah, that's great.
Oh, like old tours?
Yeah, anybody.
Who's the best?
Who do you like to play with the most?
Rory, Brooks, Scotty.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Why?
Just because of how they play or your friendships?
No, it's not a friendship, but I love to learn from them, like, something.
When I play together, like, I can catch something if they're doing good.
I mean, if they, like, special shot, make some special shot, I can't watch directly.
And, like, first time I feel, play with the Rory, like, I got no chance.
Like, if one-on-one in, like, I got no chance.
I feel, like, so poor.
But you're so good.
He drive me, like, 50 hours out, and then he played, like, six, seven, nine with the second shot, like, Eagles.
I was like, ah.
Did you, I feel like he does that to everyone.
He's the name that comes up every time.
Did you see yesterday at Pebble Beach, number 14, driver seven iron, eagle.
That's crazy.
What did you hit in?
I hit driver and then between four and five, I hit the fiber and straight pole.
Straight pole.
30 yards off the green flop shot, par.
Bar.
Broke it, snapped everything.
It kept it moving.
It was a little bad.
Oh, it's beautiful.
It's a lot easier with seven.
I mean, he's the one guy that, like, every time we mention it, especially, like, rookies.
They're like, was there an, oh, my God, moment.
It's always like, yeah, I was at Riv, and I saw Rory hit and driver, and I was like, never.
I can't possibly compete.
Yeah.
But you can.
Yeah, you're pretty good, Sue.
Yeah, you're a good golfer.
Some, I don't know, it's hard.
Like, I play with Tori one time with Rory.
Like, I feel so bad after run.
I want to quit this.
I'm so bad.
Yeah.
There's a film.
DJ used to be like that for some of them.
Off the golf course.
Let's get to know Siwu a little bit.
What do you like?
You got an off week.
What's a fellow like Siwu like to do?
Like always been travel a lot, so I like to stay home and play video games with the boys,
Call of Duty.
And when they have a home game, the maps, I go always watch NBA and play.
play golf like twice, three times a week.
Yeah.
Just chill.
And you got a wife and a little baby now?
Yes.
11 months old.
Congratulations.
Thank you.
How's being a father?
Yeah, it's not easy, but I mean, my wife always taking care of my son, but I don't do much, but still hard.
Like, hard to be on that.
but it's really
happy.
Yeah.
Do they travel with you?
Yeah, I do.
All the time?
Not all the time,
but pretty much every week.
And your wife is a hell of a player.
She won a lot on the Korean tour, right?
Yeah, she won seven times.
Just seven?
You've only won four.
I mean, this kid's a scratch already.
Yeah, at 11 months.
What's his name?
Theo.
Theo.
The expectations will be high,
Given the bloodline.
Has the wife ever beaten you when you played together?
On the golf course.
I'm sure she's beat the shit out of you many times.
Yes, a lot.
I mean, if plays some team, maybe I can bid every time.
Can she still play?
She's still good?
No, she's maybe played twice here.
Yeah.
She hates golf.
Perfect.
She's a guy, yeah.
Smart girl.
Smart girl, by the way.
Put all that to bed.
Be mom.
You can go make all the birdies.
All right.
Should we do E9?
Yeah, let's do E9.
This will be fun.
We're just going to go back and forth here.
We don't need to do the first one.
Skip?
We'll go to the second one, yeah.
Let's see.
Do you think you're the only person to ever win the players championship
and then fly home middle seat coach the next day?
Wow.
Respect.
Explain to me why you flew coach middle seat after winning the players championship.
No.
I was spoke American Airlines.
line Sunday night and then somehow I got wind and then I have to celebrate and then all the
stuff I have to autographs and then it's been already 9 p.m. So of course I missed the flight and then
only flight. I want to go home early. So that's the only I found on Southwest, Middle City.
I heard you had the trophy in your lap. That's awesome. How'd you get through security with that
thing.
I can't even bring a bottle of freaking water.
Yeah.
You can bring the players championship.
Trophy.
Going through there.
That's beautiful.
All right.
We talked about your club breaking,
which you're known to do,
which was a lot of fun to watch.
A lot of the caddies,
I think, love playing with you because,
like, if something happens,
see who's going to fucking freak out.
But for you,
other than yourself, obviously,
who do you think has the best club throwing
slash breaking in golf?
Every.
Yeah.
Oh,
100.
He was a...
Good answer.
He's Mount Rushmore guy.
He's the best club throw ever.
He launched.
Spencer Levine was a good one back
and if we're going throwbacks.
Emiliano, Grillo.
Grio.
Greo can snap and then...
I was playing with him here at TPC Scottsdale one year
threw the wedge into 15 into the pond.
We were just watching
when you were in the clips earlier this morning.
Was that a...
Colonial?
That was a colonial on...
Colonial, you threw a wedge into the water.
Oh, yes, I did.
Yeah, yeah.
Of course.
That was like a little.
throw that was just like a get off me i don't even want this anymore what's the most amount of clubs
you ever broke in one round i don't know i can't say this but one time in minnesota i played three m and then
i always played so well like six shot off the cut line so i snapped her one time and then i broke the
club and then kettie gives me the one more club you want more and then yeah of course
just broke them all break it i finished with the 11 club and he goes
Oh, my gloves
My back's so light now
I like it
It's so weird
That you're like a guy
That breaks clubs
He's like you're the happiest
Like every person out there like
Oh Steve was so funny
He's great
He's happy
But then on the course
It's just like nope
Snap
But now I'm trying to settle down
And you're a dad now
Yeah
Yeah you got to set a good example
But I used to broke a lot
I like it
Don't stop
Don't stop all of it dude
It's fun for us
So I don't know if you still do, but you used to use like a six-degree driver.
Oh, yeah.
I used to have like eight degree and then the, you know, the...
You can adjust it.
Yeah, adjusted like one degree low.
Do you remember I asked you why you used six-degree driver, what your answer was?
What was it?
You said, because sometimes I have to put with it.
That was the best answer.
That's a great answer.
That was the closest, the law.
I can't have that.
That's beautiful.
All right.
We're staying on kind of the same theme here, but I just got to hear this story because
I was flying on my side with a couple of players that were there.
They said, you got to ask them about this, okay?
Tell me the story.
It was either a three wood or five wood at Muirfield on the fifth hole.
Just to give the whole thing.
I had no idea, and this is such a good story.
This was, I don't know what a year was, but Thursday, I hit it like easy driver.
perfect fade to 48 number five yeah number five and then pins on the left side I hit a great
high soft fiber and comes up like two yards short and came up to the came back to the hazard I was so
pissed on threw into the bush like 40 yards I don't I didn't go fine and next day same same
driver I can find I literally I can find my diva right by me so Friday same shot pins on the
front right and then I told him like can you give me a fiber then you got no fiber oh I
throw it away and then somehow I got three years high cut right edge like right as right as
right as the green like 15 25th like two pace off the green and I want to go grab back my
fiber like from the into the bush I'm sure there's no people so I can grab it back so
I got an idea and I went back and then I
found this somehow into the like you found it in the bushes they told me you found it like
you're like dude i have to have my five wood and they went ran to the bush found it and came and hit it
all i didn't know you're like hey i found my five who's who is your who is your caddy at that time
ran was it vranish you sent ranches lanky ass into the bush after you throw it the first time
we might need it again i was freak out and then i grab it five will make sure i can play with that so
I go to the rules guy and then can I play with this?
And then it was perfect timing like two pace off downhill right to left pot.
But pot's kind of like tricky.
So I grabbed my five wood from Thursday.
So I put it with the five wood.
I made it.
And then I kiss.
I kissed the five wood.
That's good.
You're nice with the woods.
I like that.
How often do you go no warm up before a round of golf?
Oh, wow.
I've been doing this
like a lot
fast
I was told
one of your old caddies told me
you average like 68 when you just go straight
to the first team
now no chance
it's so stiff
but
getting old
yeah I used to do
a lot like when I'm sitting in the
like 40-50 place
and next day
I have to tee off like 8.30
I got no passion
okay let's go to
straight to the tea and then play birdie yeah i got no passion i got no passion i hate this guy he told me he's
like yeah well like 730 tea time and they're about to announce his name and then he comes walking up
literally not a ball not a range ball not a pot not a new stretch i walk out like i remember hilton had
like i'm sure like eight eight 10 pretty first group like sunday so i wake up like seven and summer
shower and then get their 750 and then like sitting in the car parking lot and then turns on the
heat at the car and then the seat heater right before three minutes I went there the couple like practice
swing and straight to the tea and then make birdie first still hell yeah that's a tough opening
teabong by the way that's not the widest fair way I respect that that's great no he answered my other
one that I had uh during the course of
the interview.
I was going to ask you about how you decide what club you putt with after you smash a putter.
It sounds like it's just three wood.
All right.
Got one more good one for you that I just heard about here.
Okay.
And I think you should start doing this more often.
Rumor has it.
You shot 31 on the back nine of the players after having a Red Bull in an Advil P.m.
Does that work?
What the hell is that, Siwu?
Advil P.M. during the round?
Elville P.
PM because, like, sometimes.
I got like too much caffeine, like, addicted.
So when I don't have a caffeine enough, I'm always headache.
So I always bring it with the Edville PM.
And then it takes it, like, feel lazy, you know, and sleepy.
And I have to wake up.
So I bring my Red Bull and drinks it wakes me off.
That's a hell of a combo.
Mani told me they're in like 15th place with nine holes to go on Sunday.
Red Bull, Advil, PM, and watch the Manchester United game
on his phone during the back night.
He's in 15th place of the players.
He's the greatest player in the world.
He shoots 31 and finishes 6.
Let's see Scotty take Advil P.m.
And try to put it to 31 up.
He ain't going to do it.
That's smart that you trick your body.
Your body is like, do you want me to go up?
Do you want me to go down?
I don't know what you're telling me to do.
So on a normal day, because you drink coffee too, right?
Yes.
How many coffees and how many Red Bulls?
I used to three coffee.
three coffee before
1 p.m.
And get to the 1 p.m.
started Red Bull like 3, 4
until 9 p.m.
But
3 or 4 on top of the 3
whole, you think I
You're making me feel so good.
That's why I didn't drink until 10 a.m.
I got headaches so bad.
Oh my God.
How do you sleep?
Yeah, when do you go to bed?
But I can
I can sleep go right away.
Really?
Yeah, that doesn't affect anything.
But now I'm trying to get like two coffee, too a red bull a day.
Yeah, tone it back a little.
Yeah, really cut it back.
A couple of ads out.
Just only a thousand milligrams of caffeine.
A couple lines of blow at the turn.
I'm just trying to wind down a little bit.
Oh, you're amazing.
That's incredible.
I love you.
I love that.
All right.
Last question.
Let's get out of here.
Because I love Korean barbecue.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
But let's say Siwu Kim wins the masters.
Okay, champions dinner next year.
What are you going to serve?
I want to have
I want to serve
the
they ribs
LA Galby
it's called LA Galby
kind of like
a marinated with the ribs
so small ribs
so
I think that's the
all the people
likes it
and I likes it too
so sweet
sweet my 998
LA Colby
what else are you going to come with it
what else
and
I wasn't even
think about this
well what do you
What do you normally get when you go out to dinner?
Like pork, beef.
I like steak.
And then I want to get some spicy soup.
Spice soup.
Yeah.
What's your favorite American meal?
What is American meal?
Like, is it?
Like, like, chili out back.
What are we?
Cheeseburgers?
Yeah, in and out.
Yeah, in and out.
Yeah.
I love it.
You got right here by the course for you.
I love in and out.
I like that.
We'll see, Wu, you're the man.
You're one of the best personalities.
in golf. We appreciate you coming and
sitting down with us for a little bit. Thank you.
Comsa, Hamdi Da. Thanks for a really.
I just learned. I picked a little sub-mouth
over there. How do you say sub-par in Korean?
Sub-par? Yeah.
Same.
I don't know if there's a translation for that.
I don't know.
I don't even know how to translate.
Shit.
All right. It's universal. It's universal.
You're the best, Siwu.
Thank you, Seawu. Thank you.
Well, that was a lot of fun sitting down with our man,
Seawu, Kim. But before we recap that episode,

All right, let's get to Siwu.
See who's the guy.
Love the guy, man.
He's so much fun to sit down.
He's got a great laugh.
And I know his English wasn't perfect,
but I just applaud him once again.
It's pretty good.
Because a lot of these guys,
they don't have to do these things.
He wanted to come on.
He's hilarious.
I thought the story at the end.
The All Advil, P.M. and Red Bull
is the key to success.
I thought I'd heard all the comments.
combinations of things had not heard that one, just a total mind fuck on your body.
Hey, bring me down.
Nope, kidding.
Send me back up.
That means you're perfect in the middle.
The caffeine or the intake, he's like, oh, I have three coffees before one.
And then after that, I switched to Red Bull and I have three or four more.
But he's trying to cut it back to two Red Bulls.
God bless this.
It makes me feel so much better about myself.
You probably weren't the one that needed to hear that.
I was like, I can press it way more than I am.
One of the best golfers in the world has this much caffeine in him?
I thought I was on the border line of stepping over, but I'm not.
It does crack me.
How he seriously is one of the best players in the world.
Like he is a mainstay on the President's Cup, the international team.
I mean, winning the players championship at 21 years old.
And he still gets, like, in awe of Scotty and Rory.
He's like, oh, these guys, they're so good.
I can't beat them.
It just shocks me that he doesn't realize how good he is.
When he gets going and gets hot, he can get about as hot as anyone out there.
And when he's engaged and, like, I call it incontentionous, like, he can beat virtually anybody.
But it was also funny to hear about, oh, yeah, for a long time,
I wasn't really warming up.
If I was in like 50th going on a weekend and teeing off at 8 o'clock,
he just showed up to the T's like, because I have no passion.
Yeah.
I was like, that's exactly right.
Like that's kind of the thing.
Like, is Siwu going to be interested this week?
And if he is, he goes.
Like, dude, President's Cup.
He's been, I know like U.S. runs away with it more or less most of the time.
But he's in his two that he's been in.
He wins points.
And there's not a whole lot of those guys for their team.
I mean, listen, I want it to be close every year because that makes it more fun.
I can tell you this.
He brings the energy.
I mean, he, I remember Quill Hollow playing Justin Thomas.
He shushed the crowd making the putt there.
And then he did the night night, Steph Curry, this past one in Canada.
I love the guy.
I mean, I get so excited when I get to go out and follow him.
So many players, did they ask who are you paired with?
They light up when they find out they're paired with Siwu Kim.
Yeah, the same with Caddies too.
And yeah, the night night was a little premature, but who hadn't been a little premature in their lives?
You know what I mean?
Let's not judge.
But a lot of fun sitting down with Siou.
We want to wish him the best of,
luck this week at the WM Phoenix Open and so excited to announce our partnership with Fanatic
Sportsbook. Make sure you go get the app. And let's get to firing on some games and some golf.
And let's just first and foremost make sure we get through this week alive. And apologies
in advance of our voices are Jack next week. But it's well earned. It's here. The weather's
perfect. We got some great golf, some great concerts. It's going to be an awesome week. And then next
week we sleep.
Tonight, caddy tournament brought to you by Fanatic.
Shout out to them, 10K and free bets go into the boys.
You know most of the teams.
You know most of the players.
Give me a winner.
I'll give you a winner.
It's a bonus ball if one of us gets it right.
Go.
Okay, I'm going with Hayden Wood and his partner, Braden.
Hayden, nobody knows the golf course amongst the people that are playing.
Better than Hayden Wood.
Believe it or not, he's pretty damn good player.
Now turn caddy for Chris Garda.
Give me them for the win.
Okay.
H. Wood.
In the house.
I'm going to go with guys.
travel around the jicks with back of the day.
Johnny Ellis,
caddy for Wyndham Clark,
and Brady Stockton.
Also used to play a ton of jicks.
John Ellis,
how many clubs can you break in nine holes?
He and Siwu are on the same page.
Johnny has finished many around
Sands Putter, and I think he tried all.
He actually got pretty decent with his hybrid,
but with it.
Well, very cool, the Thunderbirds and Fanatics to do that.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
Hope to see everyone out at the WM. Phoenix Open,
and we'll talk to you on next week's subpar.
