Starting point is 00:00:09 All right, here we go. It's time for another episode of Golf Subpar with Colt Nost and Drew Stoltz. The 106 PGA Championship is in the books, and Xander Shafley gets the monkey off his back, picks up his first major title. But before we get to it, Slees, you want to putt like Xander? I would imagine you'd like to. You need to get yourself a Callaway Odyssey AI-1 urethane insert putter. It delivers more consistent ball speeds across the face, even on off-center hits. This technology leaves you up to 21% closer to the hole.
Starting point is 00:00:37 You can visit Callawaygolf.com to shop the Oroth. Odyssey AI1 and learn more about the line. Hey, let me tell you. It works for him. It might work for you. That's all it takes. Go to callagal.com. Get yourself an Odyssey AI1 putter.
Starting point is 00:00:49 All right, let's get to it. Zander Shafley, very popular pick. Heading into the week at Valhalla. Coming off a runner-up finish at the Wells Fargo, he's been knocking on the door, just hasn't been able to close, hadn't been able to walk through and win that first major title.
Starting point is 00:01:02 But boy, did he put on a show. Course record on Thursday and just kept it rolling all the way through. Got a little dicey there for a second. On the back night on Sunday, but man, it was a hell of a week at the PGA. Got to get in the zone for this right here. Love these bad boys. Zander, that was spectacular. It's, I was like, you shouldn't be rooting for people or whatever.
Starting point is 00:01:22 I don't care. Sunday, I was like, dude, he deserves this. He's been so close, so many times. You look at his major record. We pulled it up on Wikipedia during the broadcast. It's the whole thing's yellow. He's been there over and over. He's gotten some bad beats in Sundays in other tournaments going into this.
Starting point is 00:01:37 Rory catching fire, Windham catching fire. And it's just that closing stretcher, that put that he made on the 72nd changes the whole thing. If he goes into a playoff somehow misses that and then Bryson beats him or something, then the narrative just explodes even more. So not only get the monkey office back winning the first major championship, but closing like that and leading wire to wire up, that was, I mean, dude, it's really, really good right now, really good. It is. I mean, I think this is going to, I'm not going to say open the floodgates because I don't want to get killed for that. But getting that first one, I think, which is the hardest one. And now he's going to be so much more comfortable.
Starting point is 00:02:09 He's a second-ranked player in the world. I mean, people take notice when he's up there on leaderboards to make that put. By the way, I thought he was going to lip out. I mean, totally honest. It was going to left side. I was pretty sure. At that speed, I was like, that's coming up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:21 And I had Bryson's group, you'll be proud of me. So I had the choice. I can go Shane Lowry and Sawth the Gala or Bryson DeChambo and Victor Hovlin. Obviously, they were the third group from last. I was like, you know what? Bryson's a show, man. He is fun. I want to go out there and watch him.
Starting point is 00:02:38 And boy, did I make the right choice. Because both him and Victor were going. We were showing every single shot. The crowds were going nuts. I was having a blast with those guys out there. Whether you hate him, you love him, whatever. Bryson is so entertaining, man. He plays to the crowd.
Starting point is 00:02:54 He's, in the last year, in my opinion, he's just changed so much. He is so much more relaxed. He looks like he's actually having a great time out there. And he's freaking good. It is so impressive to watch him hit the golf ball. I mean, he's been a factor. in the last three majors on Sunday and being close in all those. So the golf is good.
Starting point is 00:03:10 He's one of those dudes like golf needs people that you either love or you hate. There's a lot of people just right down the middle, vanilla, don't care one way or the other. Bryson elicits a reaction from everyone in his golf game. It feels like it's finally in the right spot with all the tinkering and things. Physically he looks comfortable again.
Starting point is 00:03:26 You know, for a while there, I was like, dude, that's just I don't feel like that's going to work out long term. His celebration. Dude, he had an awesome moment. I thought he like, even though he didn't win the tournament, maybe one the week. When he flicked the ball to the kid walking from 9 to 10 and some grown up, by the way, what is a scumbag growing? You're going to jack a ball from a little kid. Like, what are you going to do? Like, Bryson touched this ball. Dude, you're 40. Relax. Anyways, he stole it. Bryson saw it out of
Starting point is 00:03:49 his, you know, corner of his eye and like ran over to his like, uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh, come back, give it to the kid. Like shit like that. He doesn't have to do that. Like, you know, he doesn't even have to pay attention to that. But to do that, I thought his interviews afterwards were incredibly good, like, pretty humble, you know, there's, and he still as the weird like intricacies that we like all the science shit and stuff like that um he's just different dude and he's been close real real close he's the he's been the best in major championships out of the live guys outside of brooks who's always got one tell you one other thing and just because i'm out there walking and like if guys want to talk i'll talk it's a major
Starting point is 00:04:22 championship but i don't know they stay ahead and if they want to say something to me they're more than welcome he yelled at me several times like hey wanted to ask a question and then we're going we're on the sixth hole and we were in a commercial when he hit his second shot and and I knew that it missed just over to the right. And so I'm up about 100 yards in the fairway, and here he comes. He's already hit the shot. And so I'm getting ready to make this call.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And I was like, oh, this one needs to hang on. It was fading. It's the one he when he putted it in from off the green. But the second shot landed on the green and rolled off, and I said, oh, he did not get lucky in Kentucky. And he just goes, damn, that's pretty funny. I was like, just the fact that he just sat there and acknowledged it after he just kind of got a shitty break.
Starting point is 00:04:59 I was like, okay, I like, I like this price. He legit's like one of the only dudes out there. It looks like he's having fun. Like he's enjoying it. He's pumping up the crowd. Yeah, like he's having a good time. Everyone else was like Sunday at a major. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:05:09 I'm about to shit my pants. My heart's going to explode. He looks like he's having a good time. It was, man, he's, he is a needle mover. There is no doubt. I wish we got.
Starting point is 00:05:19 And I'm not going to say, I wish we get to see more of him because I know we could see him if we watch. I'm just saying, we cover the PJ tour for the most part. We wish we could see him teeing it up out there
Starting point is 00:05:27 against those guys more often, I would say. Yeah, and domestically. And did you see that someone threw this out on Twitter. earlier today. It was like the press conferences, Sunday press conferences of all, like the main guys, Zander
Starting point is 00:05:39 included, Bryson was in there, JT, local guy, like big name guys, Victor, near the top and Bryson's was like five-ax, like what the next closest was. Like it blows it out. So there's no, whether you love him, hate him, like, dude, people tune in, which golf
Starting point is 00:05:55 needs more than ever right now. By the way, they need people that draw interest. I went through his bag on Monday, just looking at all stuff, the lofts this guy has on his clubs. He has a six-degree driver, a nine-degree three-wood, a 13-degree-five wood. I'm like, okay, we just got to start saying degrees of loft with you because, I mean, you're seven-iron to 26, which is actually a five-iron. He carries five wedges. I mean, everything he does is just different, but it's fascinating. Yeah, his wedge is, like, 42 degrees or something like that. 40. Which is like, why do you call it a wedge then? Just
Starting point is 00:06:22 call it what it is. It doesn't make sense to me. What's the difference if it's got an eight or a six on the bottom? And people were, you know, saying this stuff on Twitter today and all this. It's like, look, I think most of the people don't understand how it works. Like, he can launch it at a certain height and he can spin it enough. So, therefore, he can make his seven iron crazy strong. He can make all of his iron crazy strong because of his launch conditions. But, man, it was fun to watch him play. But the man, and also, shout out Victor Hovlin.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Welcome back, my man. It's been a struggle. Quickly back. Went out there to Joe Mayo. Went out in vet. Flew from Charlotte to Vegas. It's been a day and a half with Joe Mayo. Flew back.
Starting point is 00:06:58 At one point, was tied for the lead there. I said he's the only man who left Vegas feeling better than he did when he showed up. Without question. Maybe Tom Kim. He seems to lead there in good form, too. But how quick that happened is wild. He gave an interview after maybe it was Friday or something. He's like, I almost withdrew this week because my game, he's like, it's not good at it.
Starting point is 00:07:20 He saw I do it earlier this year in Phoenix, too. That's how close was not even playing. He damn near won the thing. Yeah, he actually was working with Dana Dahlkowitz some before going back to Joe Mayo. He was in Charlotte, talked to him. He's like, he wanted to withdraw from Charlotte. He's like, we're all just trying to get him to play. Like, he's got to figure this thing out.
Starting point is 00:07:36 And he looked like the Victor of old there on Sunday. He was striping. I mean, he was the bogey made on 18, whatever. That was just, he was devastated from missing the putt to possibly get in a playoff. But it is awesome to watch Victor when he is, when he is on form. That group was just fantastic all day. Hopefully he just stays where he's at now. Like, okay, got it.
Starting point is 00:07:54 No more tinkering. No more changing coaches than doing all that. I mean, but, like, the biggest news. dude, out of the whole day. Because I wasn't with you. We were there, but at the same time, but we weren't there in the morning. Like when the Scotty news gets dropped
Starting point is 00:08:06 and that he's been arrested, walk me through where you were when you heard that, what you thought, all the shit, because it was, it was wild there for a while. So we were supposed to be on from 10 to 12 to fill in for ESPN's crew, our CBS crew was. So I had my alarm set for 7.30.
Starting point is 00:08:19 We're leaving the hotel at 8. I wake up, and I'm not exaggerating. I have 87 text messages. And I'm like, what in the hell who died, what happened? And obviously, come find out. at first, the first thing I saw was Jeff Darlington's tweet. And I thought it was a joke. And I was like, this isn't the best joke, Jeff.
Starting point is 00:08:35 You could probably do a little better than this. And then I saw the video and I'm like, holy shit, this is real. And I mean, first and foremost, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the guy that was in the accident. I mean, that was just horrific. But to see everything go down then, I mean, Scottie getting taken away in handcuffs and arrested in a mugshot in an orange jumpsuit. Like, really? We got to put the jumpsuit on them, guys? Official.
Starting point is 00:08:57 I mean, that was just. wild, I just, I never in my wildest dreams. I'm like, can this sport catch a break? I mean, it's just getting shit on for everything that's going on. And now we've got the number one player in the world who's cruising along again, in jail might not make his tea time. Scotty's clock was ticking. It was just a matter of time before he got caught up in a little legal issue.
Starting point is 00:09:17 You know how Scotty is. Joke, sarcasm there. Read the room, guys. I mean, he's the nicest human on the planet. I mean, a lot of people say, if you had to rank the 156 players in the field, who would be the least likely to get arrested, he's probably anywhere from 150 to 156. Yeah, Peter Malnadi also suspect.
Starting point is 00:09:33 His time's coming too. Dude, if it hadn't been, same thing, woke up Million Texts, all this stuff, like, hey, you're going to go bail out, Scotty? Hey, what's the tea time look like? You know, how's the longest yard, all this type of shit? And I was like, what are you talking about? Because I hadn't even gone on Twitter yet. I go on, if I, if Jeff Darlington had been there and just seen the whole thing happen
Starting point is 00:09:51 and didn't pull his phone out in video and just tweeted and was like, hey, I was just pulling in to Val Halla right behind Scottie Schaeffler. He had an altercation with a cop. He's been a wrong. arrested and is going down to the jail to be processed, all that. Zero people would have believed that thing. If it wasn't for that video, which if I was Jeff in that situation, like, the last thing I'd have been thinking probably was like, pull out my phone and video this.
Starting point is 00:10:11 So props to him for doing that because otherwise nobody would have believed what was going on, dude. The fact that he did it and then got back because of the delay and teed off, not just teed off, shot 66. Like, it was just a wild sequence of events. I mean, we'll never see anything like that again, I wouldn't think. Listen, shot. Obviously, it's a very unfortunate situation, but shout out to Scotty going out there and teaming it up and handling everything the way he did. Shoot 66. Whatever. The score doesn't really matter. In my opinion, it's very impressive that he shot 66, but the way he handled his business.
Starting point is 00:10:40 And then look, Saturday, I think, in my opinion, I followed his group. It just all hit him. And he had no energy. I mean, the guy does not miss iron shots short and left. He doesn't miss T shots left. And it was happening the whole time. There was no legs. I think he was just mentally gassed. felt horrible for me. I mean, to have to go through that. Like, really, dude, major championship? I wasn't there. And the body, there was no body camera there, but I've been at tournaments where there's crazy traffic jams. There's an accident. So you have to go around. You're an official courtesy car. Right outside the gates of the golf course and you're a security guard working a golf tournament. Like, what? It was raining. It was dark. There was a lot of shit going on.
Starting point is 00:11:22 What, like I just, like I don't want to assume anything. Like a perfect storm. What was this guy was thinking when you know, hurled himself at Scottie Shephler's car. Like, I don't think he was, it's not like he was going 60 miles an hour, like trying to get away from you. It's just a really weird scene. I'm interested to see if anything comes out, you know, in the future about everything that really happened. No video, which is like, I think we all would have liked to see, like, what exactly
Starting point is 00:11:44 did he do that you need to launch yourself onto his car? And by the way, after it does happen, he gets him out and everyone's freaking out. It takes one, like, rational mind to come over and calm things. Be like, what's going on here? Oh, hey, by the way, this is a player. Even if you don't know who Scotty Shefflers, even if you're not a golf guy. Like, this is a player. Like, he's got his credentials.
Starting point is 00:12:00 He's in the courtesy car. Like, this is probably, let's just let cooler heads prevail here. Confusion, mix up. Let's let him go. We don't need this kind of PR. But to just immediately, like, boom, you're going to jail. By the way, speaking of good press conferences, Scottie handled that, like, a champion.
Starting point is 00:12:15 I don't even think sometimes you see dudes get up and when they're in a little scandal or whatever. And I'm like, that's so coached. That's so fake. That's so bullshit. His felt like, I was like, I don't even think, I think he just got up there and said, what he actually thinks. Knew the name of the family.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Addressed them first and foremost right out of the gate before I got that. Because, I mean, listen, this is a tragic thing that happened. You know, somebody lost a family member there that day. And what happened to Scott, he was very unfortunate, but listen, he's okay. He's back playing golf. But just crazy. I mean, you can't make it up. But it was a wild week.
Starting point is 00:12:45 It felt fake. Yeah. But shout out to Kentucky. Y'all showed up. Valhalla was awesome. Whether you like it or not, if you like 21 under par winning, I don't know. For me, it's all about it. Is it an exciting finish?
Starting point is 00:12:57 And we've had four PJ championships there since I've been around. I think that might be all in general, but going back to 1996. Playoff, playoff. Rory, Birding the last to win in the dark. Zander Shafley, Bertie and the last to win. I mean, it's what you want coming down the stretch for a major championship. The numbers, as far as to par, might not be what they are. But I want something exciting coming down the stretch, and we got it.
Starting point is 00:13:20 First exciting major we've had since, I mean, I would call Wyndham and Rory's little showdown at L.A. I would call that like an exciting one, but then the Open Championship, Harmon ran away with that, no drama, master's this year, no drama. Really the best tournament
Starting point is 00:13:32 outside of the players. The players was awesome. That's by far the best tournament of the year leading up to this, and this one, it delivered. And not just, it wasn't just tight,
Starting point is 00:13:41 but it was like names you want to see up there too. It wasn't. And sometimes PJO'll sprinkle in a random, you know, Sean McKeel and things like that. But the way that's, that 18th hole set up,
Starting point is 00:13:52 and I would say the entire back nine for the most part, I mean, it's like a stadium golf course in the crowds. It just looks big and it's loud. It's awesome, man. So congrats to them on once again, showing off and delivering a great championship. I will say this. I mentioned it during our preview show about the little Xandr Shafley, Dottie situation.
Starting point is 00:14:12 The F.U. Dottie. Dottie Pepper's my kryptonite. Great moment, which I believe Mark put it on our social thing. But I was up there at the end and gave him congratulations. He came over and gave me a high five. First thing he did looked right at me. He goes, not today, Doddy. I thought it might have been the other version of it when I first thought.
Starting point is 00:14:28 I was like, you can't really hear it or make out like what he says or whatever. But I was like 100% that's a Doddy, Doddy reference. Shout out, man. That was awesome. Shout out to Doddy, getting the monkey off her back too. It was a big day for everybody. It was a big day. I mean, you don't want to be the cooler.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Next time you get Scotty, you better go low, by the way. You don't want to be known for the only guy that the only overpar round of Scotty's year. You don't want to be the guy. I think there's a little asterisk next to the one with Scotty for me on Saturday. You know what I mean? I'm just saying. I'm just saying. But yeah, that was good shit.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Dottie loves it too, by the way. Oh, she thinks it's the greatest. It's awesome. It is awesome. All right, our episode this week is... Speaking of awesome. Okay. Before we get to him, can we shout out Bardstown?
Starting point is 00:15:10 Well, I was going to say it. I mean, dude, that place was awesome. Barstown Bourbon. We were at the tasting room down there in downtown Louisville. They rolled out the red carpet for us. It was fantastic. And that's where our episode with Stanford Steve is. This guy, I love him, man.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Him and Scott Van Pelt on Sports. are just fantastic. I've gotten the chance to know him over the last couple of years because he's always at the PGA Championship. He's just a dude, and he's a big dude. But we had so much fun of him. He has so many great stories, and he loves golf.
Starting point is 00:15:36 So let's get to Stanford, Steve. But before we do it real quick, I want to tell you about Schwepps, because for over 200 years, Schweps has produced classic refreshing beverages, including ginger ale, tonic, and club soda. Schweps is the official ginger ale and the official mixer of the 2024
Starting point is 00:15:50 PGA championship. They were flowing out there, especially when it was nice and warm. Mmm, mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mewps' ginger ale's crisp and bubbly flavor makes for the perfect drink to elevate your refreshment.
Starting point is 00:16:00 And now, Schwepps is offering new watermelon mint tonic for a limited time. Great on a summer day. Shweps' watermelon mint tonic is a refreshing combination that's sweet and juicy with a cool uplifting finish. Whether you're teeing off at the course or settling into the couch to watch your favorite players compete, Schweps is essential to elevate every round. Swing by your local grocery store to pick up Schweps Ginger Ale and Schwep's watermelon mint tonic.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Scan the code on packages of Schweps Gingerail. to win golf trips, golf clubs, or discounted tea times. All right, here he is. Stanford Steve on Subpar. All right, you're all very familiar with the man we have here with us today. He's on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pell. He's seen him on college game day. Gambling savant.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Hosts what I would say is the greatest segment in all television. Bad Beats. He's here with us. Stanford, Steve. How are you, brother? Absolutely awesome. I'd tell you what. We met at Southern Hills a couple years ago at the PJ Championship, which is where we are right now.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Shout out to Bardstown Bourbon Company for having us here. But met a couple years ago. We've been talking about doing this. And now you're a guy. We do some over Zoom. We ain't doing that. We got to have a Stanford in person. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Yeah, it is. The Zoom world has made things a lot of you. Obviously, as you guys, it's convenient. But when you could do it in person, there's nothing better. Yeah, we can't have bourbons. I was just saying, especially with this. I can't tell how many you've had before on a Zoom. That's a great point.
Starting point is 00:17:21 You know? First one. No liars allowed. But I didn't. realize you're a huge golf fan. I mean, I know you liked it, but like, apparently, you're all in on golf. Yeah, it's being, first of all, sports center, we're like, you know, we're here for a week, but like the last two weeks, you know, I'm getting home, Scott and I're getting home at 3.30 in the morning. We got NHL, we got Stanley Cup playoffs. We got NBA every night. We're following one
Starting point is 00:17:44 of the other. So you're inundated with that, like the press conference. You know the questions are going to be asked. You know, golf has always been sort of away from me. I haven't been around it. I started playing a little bit in college and got to the point where I think everybody does, where you start getting mad at yourself, but are you going to take that next step to better yourself? And that's where I fell. I was like, no, and then injured my wrist is absolutely shot now, mangled, and that affects the game. But appreciation, like, I've got to see that. I've been to the best courses in the world, not name Augusta, in the country.
Starting point is 00:18:19 and just I think being like you know playing sports back in the day the mental aspect of golf is something I don't think all the time can come across on TV and being able to come now that ESPN has the PGA and coming to last you know Southern Hills Oak Hill this I cannot wait for but I've said you know golf majors are my favorite pro sport to watch really just crazy yeah no but I just it's so different to me. you know you're on that island you don't have anybody you know that you're relying on to block for you or catch the past that you throw it's you and that that pressure uh that you bring upon yourself because you know what you have to these guys i mean how many guys do we have playing that haven't you know we're all waiting for you know zander for example to trying to take that step to win a major that we know they're good enough but it's a life-changing thing and you see it with these guys at the first time they win it it's it's i think it's just awesome and you know, to do it for four days.
Starting point is 00:19:22 Yeah. That's what's like nuts for me. You know, we're in NBA playoffs. You know, a series is a series. You know, you're going to get lucky once in a while. Golf, no, you got to do it for four days straight. And that whole capacity of it, no one has just you. And, you know, I remember, I think it was you guys maybe that had Dustin on after he won that master.
Starting point is 00:19:43 He talked about he couldn't eat anything the morning of knowing that he was the last tea time at August. He tried eating something, I guess, on the court. He got too dry, he had to spit it out. Like, that's real stuff. And when you're watching on TV, I just, I can't believe what he's feeling here. And knowing the intricacies of the swing, of the different shots, what you want to, you know where you want to be, but you've got to get yourself there. There's nobody else that can help you.
Starting point is 00:20:06 And it just fascinates me. That's an island. It's awesome. I mean, you think back to Scotty Schepler when he won his first matchers, he broke down and was like crying before the round. Like, I don't know if I can handle this. I still can't believe he was that Saturday. day that he saved himself on 18.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Yeah. And that was incredible to watch. Yeah. Because he hit that tree. So we do this randomly on our serious XM. So sometimes on here, but a little asking for a friend segment. And your man, Scott Van Pelt actually submitted one because you're talking about your love. You're talking about your love for golf.
Starting point is 00:20:37 He wants to know, why do you hate everyone but you love golfers? Do you hate everyone? You don't strike me as a guy who hates everyone. I don't like a lot of things. I do. No, no, I'll tell you, at ESPN, like I said, SportsCenter, we are following, you know, last week, I think we filed the first three games of Timberwolves Nuggets, right? And it's like, all right, we're really going to do this.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Like, people were just burying the Nuggets. I'm like, they're the running champions for a reason. Can we let them try and even the series? Thank you. Thank you, Stanford. You got to win four games. Mind if I call you Stanford? Whatever you want it.
Starting point is 00:21:17 It's your show. You know, the Pacers, just, you know, the referees, whatever, they're going home for two games. Like, you know, hockey guys say it doesn't start until somebody wins on, you know, their ice. I just, you're, you get beaten over to head with things, so it does make me hate things a lot faster. He, I think he more said people, not things. It's just a, it's just a feeling I have. I think you get OD'd on stuff. Like, Cole, you and I, we love golf.
Starting point is 00:21:45 We cover golf nonstop, sun up to sundown, virtual. every single day. So sometimes, then we have golfers on this show and we just get golfed out. Like you said, you know the questions that are coming. You know the answers that are coming and stuff. But then we get a football dude. I'm like, yes. All right, dude, tell me about. And they all want to talk about golf. It's just like you like you like whatever you're not in. Because I think you get I'm a very good people reader too. So I can know if there's BS behind it. And more than not. Obviously not. You agreed to do the show. How are we ranking so far on the BS scale? Excellent. Yeah. So all background checks. You get you checked all the boxes. You're good.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Before we get to football, because we do want to talk game day and all that. Let's stay on the golf because this is going to come out the week after the PJ Championship. We are here right now. This is pressure. So we're at Val. I know you're out there walking the golf course today, talking to some of the guys. You like to gamble a little bit. Give me some guys you like it.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Maybe some guys you might fade. Well, here's the one question I always ask. Scott, he's done this for so long and he says it's the hardest thing is when you're walking with a guy. I'm on the end Tuesday and he's lighting it up. like you're going to feel really good about that guy, but you have such recency bias. You can't get out of your head. And Monday, we walked with Dustin, Brooks, and Gary Woodland.
Starting point is 00:22:57 And not being an avid fan of the Livtor, I haven't seen Brooks. And he looked absolutely phenomenal. I mean, putting, whatever, off the T. And I think the key here is off to T. If you're not accurate off the T, which is the case, a lot of places, but this, even more so, because the fairway is. are, I think, pretty big on the front. And you've got to be accurate off the tee.
Starting point is 00:23:18 And I thought Brooks had every shot. You know, we were saying, you got to be able to move the ball. I mean, it's a big boy. It's a big ballpark. You got to be able to move the ball. And, you know, Brooks, with the success that he's had, I do like him. I like Morikawa, just because I think he's getting better. We saw him take the step back after winning the majors.
Starting point is 00:23:38 It feels like he got. He was in the contention at Augusta. A couple weeks ago, he was in it. I like his consistency with the irons because if you, I think there's going to be those shots. Are you going to go, you know, your lower woods? Are you going to go with your high irons, you know? And I think Colin has great ability in that facet, and I like the way it sets up for him. Forget who you think is going to win this week because it's going to come out after the PJ?
Starting point is 00:24:02 Who do you like? Who are your boys? Like, if you had any guys on the show, have you gotten to know any of the dudes? Who are the guys you like to watch? Well, I don't think it's, I think the one seed overall in golf is Max Homer. Yeah, he might be like, he's getting close to unanimous, I think, in terms of likeability. I mean, I think it's overwhelming of what he does in every facet and how good he is. You know, saw him take the jab at Scotty talking about dad back.
Starting point is 00:24:28 He doesn't know about that yet. That is real. That is real. So I think Max is the top. I always busts him in Collins balls just because Cal guys and I, first of, time we had Max on, I had Scott ask him, like, did you go to Cal because you couldn't get into Stanford? Yes, that's the answer.
Starting point is 00:24:47 That's the joke. Sleaves went to TCU because you couldn't get an S&M. It's the Stanford of Texas. So that's, I put those guys up there. Talking to Brooks and Walkerman, just an enormous sports fan. You know, we're talking Panthers and Bruins. I just, just down the earth, you know. I put those guys up there, and I think there's a likeability.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Scotty, I think has done a good job of shedding all the questions. and just being, you know, right down the middle with everything. I mean, you saw him deflecting the stuff about the child in Augusta, and now he finally has it. And I don't know what he's going to say now. Hopefully he's been coming up with something to just brush off those comments. He's just so chill. Like he just, she shows up, he whips your ass, and he leaves.
Starting point is 00:25:30 Yeah. There ain't no side show, nothing. He's just like, yeah. And then I'm going to go home and I'm going to go to Chipotle. I'm just going to be a normal dude. I'm going to come back next week. I'm going to beat your ass again. The Georgia guys, I think, are great, Harris English.
Starting point is 00:25:40 There's a shitload of them. Cashmer Keith. Yeah. And Harmon. I mean, I was there at the Ole Miss game this year. He brought the jug out there. It was awesome. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:25:52 Did you take a step out of it? I did not. He was with his family. I didn't want to bother. Those Georgia guys, too, all the guys you mentioned throw kids in the mix. They're like real football fans. They're not like the cats like, oh, they can name their quarterback. Go dogs.
Starting point is 00:26:02 They're like, our defensive coordinator sucks. And we need to, we have more weakside blitz. I was on the range. And Mitch was like, hey, we're already planning. George is playing at Austin this year. And the next day is the F1 race. Oh, my. I don't know if that Georgia guy.
Starting point is 00:26:15 They're built for it, though. I will say they're built for it. That's a marathon of a weekend. You mentioned earlier before talking out there, Athens. Athens is a place. Every one of them has, and it's my goal to get to all of them. I have not been to, what are, I'm talking SEC. So we're out in Texas, Oklahoma, been there.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Where have not I been? I haven't been to Nashville for a Vanderbilt game yet. I have, I don't come to Nashville, though. it's its own entity. We know that. What am I down to? I've been to Columbia, Knoxville. Fayetteville. I have not been to Fayetteville. And I haven't been to Columbia, South Carolina for a game. And Lexington. Those are those are, those are, so you've been to all the good ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. On the tour that I am on now, you usually go to the good ones multiple times a year. So I'm totally spoiled in that aspect.
Starting point is 00:27:05 I'll tell you a quick Athens story. We're playing on the corn fairy tour down there. I'd never been there before. I went to school in Dallas. It's not a college town. Dallas is just expensive as shit everywhere you go. We got on a Tuesday night. This is back in my single days, Natalie, don't get mad at me. There was five of us. I said, I need five beers, five shots and send five shots to those girls over there. They said, okay, they'll be $28. I go, excuse me, I'm paying for all of it. They go, $28. I'm like, here's a hundred, keep them coming. I was like, this place is amazing. That's, that's, that's the good and bad thing about the college sounds. Like, this year with my schedule doing Scotts show Thursday nights, I was flying in first thing Friday
Starting point is 00:27:38 morning. I didn't see 8.30 p.m. on a Friday night, one college football weekend this week. Because game day is such an, I mean, we're out in Seattle, you know, we're out in Salt Lake. We're, you know, hours ahead. I think Seattle, I had a 3.30 wake-up call, you know, this year. So I've graduated away from the Friday night, a lot of places. Shenanigans. Ladies night. Yeah, like, that's, we're here for Sunday, Saturday ball. And that's, we got to keep the eyes on the prize on Saturdays. All right. Before we get back to Stanford, Steve, I want to tell you about Roeback.
Starting point is 00:28:10 The best fit, best feel, they are just fantastic. They got polos, hoodies, cruise, everything. You always see me rocking the hoodies. They are by far the most comfortable. They're perfect for on the course, off the course, whatever you want. And we want to help you out. You're going to go to Roeback.com. That's R-H-O-B-A-C-com and use code sub.
Starting point is 00:28:29 And we're going to give you 20% off all polos, hoodies, and cruise with make sure you use that code sub. Make sure to check out before summer. and they will have you ready for whatever travel or activities you have. Roeback.com, code sub, 20% off, back to Stanford, Steve. How's it been going to game day? I mean, as a college football guy, it's my favorite sport in the world, I love it more than a name, but that's got to be like the pinnacle.
Starting point is 00:28:49 I'm sure you grew up watching it, and he's there, and you got, you know, Herb Street and Corso and all the boys. That's it. McAfee. Yeah, recently at it, but growing up, yeah. No, and you say growing up, you know, I played at Stanford from 96 to 2000, and that's when the show started. and like it was a line.
Starting point is 00:29:07 I mean, we're getting out. Show starts at 9 a.m. out west. You know, breakfast is aligned because everybody wants to get back to the room to see if the show, see if we possibly could be on the show. You know, so going back, that's how we, that's how we, I grew up, you know, playing. You watch game day. You know, we're usually playing, you know, the night games out west, which are the longest days in your life. And you need something in the morning to get you going.
Starting point is 00:29:29 And the energy that show provides, you know, I, you know, you. If you haven't been to it, it's like no other. I did, for years, I did the Game Day radio show, and we were most of the time travel there, and we would start at noon and go till 7 o'clock at night, but you would go over early to feel it, man. I mean, it's real. The energy of a college campus is like no other.
Starting point is 00:29:52 And for big time games, which we are fortunate enough to go to so many of the weeks, it's hard. I mean, you guys have been all over the place. You get spoiled, and it's hard for, you hear about all these places. And when you go there, it's like, all right, is this going to meet the expectations that people have put on with it?
Starting point is 00:30:10 It feels like it's a whole thing in this world now, right? Exceeding expectations, it's hard to do. And every week, the energy, most fun I've ever had in my life being at a different campus every Saturday. And, again, to feel it and you're walking on that stage and you're getting ready, we got a DJ now that's getting the crowd amped in the first-time places. I mean, James Madison this year,
Starting point is 00:30:31 they had over 35,000 people there. Like the quad could barely even. I'm like, who measures that? Yeah. Is there somebody? The first time in place is if you're in school, like a JMU that's never had that. And then all of a sudden they come. Like, that's the whole campus show up.
Starting point is 00:30:45 And that's what it's about. It's great that we do that. And I think the people realize that. And like I said, the internet, I mean, we get up there in McAfee. We're doing a segment on the side set. And then nips, at Tito's and Jack Deal. I mean, people are just throwing like, guys, we're trying to do a TV show. You can't drink at 9.15 in the morning here.
Starting point is 00:31:06 We're trying to do three hours here. Afterwards, yes, we will come enjoy ourselves. But let us just do our show first. So it does get out of hand sometimes. A lot of times, I mean, I remember going out to Eugene back in the day when they started getting it going. We started out doing it at the stadium, but then we moved at the campus. And literally, if you've been to Eugene, Taylor's was the place to be. And then all like the food and hot dog trucks, the bars would close at like three.
Starting point is 00:31:33 the trucks would come. They'd stay and eat till from three, five. We come on at six. Then they usually had a night game. They would come do the whole game day, go back nap, and then Austin would be absolutely rocking. And to see those kids do that was like, you never see that.
Starting point is 00:31:50 And knowing how many times we've been there. But they know how to bring it. And like I said, the energy of youth, you know, as we get older, I still appreciate and you still feed off it. It's awesome. It's the best show. I mean, my wife is not the biggest sports fan in the world, but ever since McAfee started doing the field goal kicking challenge
Starting point is 00:32:08 with some brand of people. She's like, what time is that on? I want to watch that. First of all, how did that start? I mean, by the way, some people are going to, I mean, some dudes can't even get it off the ground. They pull a hook it right into the crowd. It's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:32:20 Some people start their mornings earlier than others. And we've had a couple of those. But the idea, the vision, because I stand underneath the goalposts. Yeah, you're the rap. So I see, I mean, I got to, we got to walk through all the. I mean, we were at Salt Lake this year. I don't know if you've been to that campus, but on the main quad, we were down, the set was down, so we had to go up.
Starting point is 00:32:40 And I never realized how many people were there. Like, it just kept going. You couldn't see it because we were down and the crowd's all up. But then we walked through that, where the goalpost was set up, and the way we do it, where it's cornered, it's tight. You know, they make the people stand closer than the goalposts are. So the goalposts are wider, but you're just trying to look through to these people. I can't imagine.
Starting point is 00:33:00 The first time, I mean, kids are, you could feel they're nervous. Then Pat starts doing his spiel and he's going to get it in your head. I mean, as a kicker, he knows how to do that. I should say, as a punter and a kicker. But he knows how to pull the strings and get inside that head. And I think a lot of people are defeated before they even try. How do you pick the dude that does it? Because like, what's to say, like a soccer player?
Starting point is 00:33:21 We have a raffle. You know what I mean? So the, so we call it the pit. The first, I forget how many people, but the first cave, we have all the bike racks in front of the set. So whoever the probably first 200 kids, there's all raffle tickets. So they grab one after the first break. We call it, hey, you're going to be kidding.
Starting point is 00:33:39 You're up. Don't think you can practice. Yeah, I was going to say, you can stretch. Limber up. But you're not getting any practice. And then, you know, we build it up. And I think we've started doing it at the top of the 11 a.m. Easter an hour, which has been an absolute home run.
Starting point is 00:33:53 It's you feel it everywhere. And, you know, then you get to campus Friday. It's like, I'm going to be the kick. and then you start, you know, we leave the set Friday in the afternoon, and the line starts, and it's awesome. Yeah, it's brought a whole new dynamic, and it's fun, man. It's like, you know, it's fun. Not the highlight, but like everyone, like he said, his wife looks forward to that.
Starting point is 00:34:13 You know what I mean? Housb Street has a holder. Any complaints on the holes? No complaints. No complaints. He did it when he was younger, so he knows what he's doing there. He doesn't mind throwing a couple jabs at the person, too. I just say, if you want to see Pat lose the money.
Starting point is 00:34:26 Of course. So he's rooting for him. Yeah. But he also can't have himself. I remember a couple times he's like, I'll throw in this money again. And then they're like, one more kick. And he's like, no, no, no, no, no, no. You got your chance.
Starting point is 00:34:36 By the way, Salt Lake is where Pat had his shirt off and I believe was talking about soaking on game day. Yeah. Yeah, that was a Friday and Saturday. That was a special one. Yeah. What's he like in person? Exactly what you think. Exactly what you think.
Starting point is 00:34:50 That switches on. Again, his energy, meeting him for the first time. It was like, okay, we're here. We're in it. As hard of working dude as I've been around puts his time in. He plays it off very well, but he does his homework. And you're not going to get anything by him. But his way about going things is what makes him.
Starting point is 00:35:13 And that's just a tribute to him, I think, just the way he goes about it. He's him, and he brings it the way he does. And it's awesome to be around. It's really contagious of what he brings to the table. Like, in my opinion, I mean, he's one of the best in the business, but he is he is changing how sports media is nowadays because he's loose somewhat unfiltered and like shows that it's okay to have fun which is what we need i mean like it's a show let's let's entertain and your man scott van pelt i mean it's the same way i've had a chance to work a couple
Starting point is 00:35:42 golf tournaments with him when i've done ESPN stuff and he's just he's the best man they make it fun and that's what it's supposed to be that exactly right and that's that's what we try and do i mean if i'm in my car or something or whatever people have their music like i just want to laugh yeah Like, make me laugh. Let's have some fun. Make me enjoyable. You know, with all the, you know, terrible stuff that's going on, when we could control things and have what you want and you have a preference,
Starting point is 00:36:08 make me laugh. And we're good. Yeah, with all the debate shows that get into some of these serious times. I was like, dude, I watch sports to get away from all the trash. Why don't you give me something other than this. I just want to laugh. You know, let a nice say or no. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:36:20 That was good. That happened. That happened. First time you met Scott Van Pelt in first impression. Ooh. Okay. So nice. I am a PA in radio.
Starting point is 00:36:30 It's about 2006. And I'm working a night show on the radio side. So radio is like on one side of the building. And then the TV anchors are prepping for the late sports center, like down a hallway. And they're like, Duke was playing Maryland that night. And they're like, why don't you go see a Van Pelt? I'm like, Scott Van Pelt. They're like, yeah, go see if it kind of usually stops in.
Starting point is 00:36:55 They'll pop it in the radio. on his walk to over to Sports Center. I'm like, all right. So I go over, I see him. He's at a desk, never met before. And he's typing away doing his, you know, he types everything he does. He doesn't have anybody write anything for him.
Starting point is 00:37:10 He does his own stuff. And he's sitting there. And I'm like, Scott, Steve from radio, was wondering if you wanted to come on after Maryland Duke game tonight to provide some thoughts. And he just looks off at me. He's like, the game's in Cameron and Duke's going to blow him out. Coach Kay's going to get everything.
Starting point is 00:37:26 every call Marin's going to lose. Why do you want me to come on the show? I'm like, that's a true fan. All right. Uh, maybe next time. Maryland won. Oh, yes. What year was that? He didn't come on. Uh, I want to say 06.0. Vintage? No, JJ. That was the like Juan Dixon? No, it was after them. It was after them. But yeah, they won. And I don't know when it was after that. I said, remember that time? He's like, yeah, sorry about that. I was, uh, I was, uh, I was. was sort of feeling my, I hate that place. I hate that.
Starting point is 00:38:00 I hate that place. And I'm a Duke fan. So that's been our crux for God. So how did it blossom into the point from that interaction to the point where you're hosting? Game Day radio show that I did. Ryan Rosillo was the host. And then Ryan and Scott started to do a radio show together. So it was a great show.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Ryan and I would go to all the game day spots, but do the radio show. So we would leave on Thursday. He would do SVP show Friday from Sight. we would do Saturday game day, right? We were together more than married couples. Like Thursday to Sunday, back in the studio, he would be prepping for a show on Monday. I would go to the Monday meeting for game day looking ahead to the following Saturday.
Starting point is 00:38:40 I would come in there and share my thoughts. And then Scott and I just started talking, hey, how was this place? How was this place? And it was probably around 2010 because he asked me about Andrew Luck. And I said, from what I gather, he is the real, this is his freshman year. He's the real deal and he's going to be as good as anybody, we've ever had. And he's like, really? He's like, I'm going to have to see about that for myself. And then the first text I ever got from them was when they beat USC in the Coliseum, put 55 on
Starting point is 00:39:07 them, What's Your Deal, Harbaugh and P. Carroll at midfield. I got a text from a 407 number of Scott saying, you were right. So ever since then, that sort of blossomed into it. And then I took over producing the SEP and Rissillo show for about a year and a half. And then Scott was approached about doing his own sports center and he said you're coming with me. I'm like, I've never done TV. He's like, don't worry about it. We'll figure it out. We're doing bad beats we're in. And there we are. Eight years later. We got to ask about bad beats because where did it come from? It's the greatest segment. Being on the West Coast, it's awesome because y'all are on at one in the morning. It's 10 out west. So I'm just getting ready to go to bed and I have to stay awake for
Starting point is 00:39:46 bad beats. But how did that segment start? First of all, it's awesome when we go out west because I feel like we have way more because it's prime time out there. When we were doing midnight, it's 9 o'clock out there. The games are over. You guys are spoiled as hell out there. It's so good. All the games are over and you turn on for a recap and you watch Scott. No, bad.
Starting point is 00:40:07 We actually tried doing it on radio, but you just couldn't provide the visual. Yeah. You know, like we had, hey, Louisiana Tech was getting 14 and they were up seven. There's two minutes left. And because Scott and I usually had the bad side. and that's why we wanted to bring it up. But when he decided to do this show, he said, we're doing bad beats. It was his idea from the start.
Starting point is 00:40:31 He wanted me up there. And I just think for anybody that's dabbled in gambling and watched the game, everyone's had one, if not many. And everybody can relate to it. Every time. But to see what we've tried to do is go off the grid a little bit, not a ranked versus ranked team, you know, a Mac, a Macion game, you know, a Sunbelt game that was maybe on ESPN Plus.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Those are the ones, I think that hit. So the content, and that's where we get in trouble because everybody submits stuff on social media. I was going to ask. People just send it to you on? People send it. They're an unbelievable job. But we only have like 10 minutes. We can't do every single one.
Starting point is 00:41:11 And, you know, you get to a Saturday where it's like, you know, or Sunday morning, I'll board my flight from wherever I am. And I'll just, I'll check social media. and I'm just like, oh, boy, bad beats might be 21 minutes long. I think you could do a full hour on it. I mean, if you really dig in. No doubt. And that's where it gets dicey.
Starting point is 00:41:30 And we do leave, you know, because we'll get the suggestions. The ones that we haven't seen, we'll send them to our production crew so they could start digging on Sunday. And they could be like, you're going to want to see this one. You're going to want to see this one. And then the people that submit them and we don't show them, I have to explain, it's only about 10 minutes. At the, like, that's the most we could. go because we want to do it after Monday night football. There's a bunch of sponsor elements in there.
Starting point is 00:41:56 You guys know how that works. And, you know, we have that window. So that's, it's, it's created its own monster through social media and with gambling getting more prevalent everywhere. It's, it's an absolute animal. And it's, it never disappoints. It's always new. It's always fresh.
Starting point is 00:42:18 And I'm just very, very, very. that was Scott's idea. It's almost like a badge of honor, I feel like when you're on the right side of one of the bad, when you're the team that just still, you're like, the next day, like, dude, one of my bets, it was on bad beats. I was on the winning. You know what I mean? I was like, I'm the lucky.
Starting point is 00:42:33 You're always on the bad side. But like when you finally get one on the good side, you see that cover last night, that was me. You get to be a part of two of the best segments in sports. You got bad beats and then Corso putting the head gear on. It's just unbelievable. I mean, whenever he decides to step away, that's going to be a very sad day. But, I mean, that's just, it's so much fun to see the celebs make their picks and then Corso, you know, get them all going and everything,
Starting point is 00:42:53 and then put the headgear on. Well, I want to say, too, this year we started at, I want to say coach started like seven and one. And I'm like, we got to mention that he's on fire right now. Kind of like your fix. I know how bad my fix were this year. And I'm like, good Lord, I went through. I had like six straight weeks of two and two.
Starting point is 00:43:08 I'm like, oh, if you're bent with the bookie, you're losing the Vig. So that's not great. But no, I mean, coach was absolutely fine. I'd come up to him and, you know, Saturday morning, and he'll just wink at you, and he's done it so long. He knows he's done it so long. And it's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:43:31 Again, it lives up to it every time. I don't remember how long ago it was, but the time he goes, oh, fuck it. What he threw that? That Houston. Dude, he gets away with that too.
Starting point is 00:43:40 Like, he's a made man. You know what I mean? A lot of people say that and like, and you're done. Yeah. With him, we're like, this is great.
Starting point is 00:43:46 It's coach. By the way, then you change that rule. If you have one little slip, it's no big. One little slip. We're all human. I'm just saying that to cover my ass because I know at some point it's going to happen to me.
Starting point is 00:43:54 Yeah. So please don't fire me. Pad that a little bit. Can I tell you something? I don't feel like gets enough attention and I didn't know about you until just recently when I kind of started digging it. National High School Player of the Year out of high school. As a tied in in Connecticut? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Long time ago. That ain't easy to do, bud. Yeah. You don't get enough doubt for your playing. It was before the internet. It was still newspaper world. Yeah, it was a good run. Good run.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Yeah, I played every position. in high school, and that's what made the recruiting process so fun. Like, there's teams coming. Oh, I think you could play outside lineback. I'm like, I'm not playing. Could you have gone wherever you wanted? Yeah. You picked Stanford, so you're obviously smart.
Starting point is 00:44:32 You're making some good scores. I did. It's good for you. It's actually, I tell this story. I go on my recruiting visit. It's 1996, so you know who's there. And I'm asking my recruiting coach, you know, what we got, I don't know, 15 recruits there. So you got your tables and then, you know, there's going to be a guest.
Starting point is 00:44:49 speaker and he's like oh you're at the head table with head coach and the in the speaker i'm like who's the speaker he's like you got to wait and find out i'm like all right sure enough the dinner starts speaker seat is right here right next to me empty empty side door opens tiger walks in wow sits down i'm like holy shit tiger woods is right here and he literally sits down and he's like bro so sorry i'm late my roommates just finished building a computer computer and I'm like oh there's no way I'm coming here I'm like building a computer like what the hell am I going to do I'm worried about passing my last English test I took in Connecticut and he sits down and he's like sorry I didn't mean to overblown he's like I didn't want to blow you away with the school stuff you'll be fine
Starting point is 00:45:37 whatever you know where you're from Connecticut and yeah we talked wow you met tiger on your recruiting that's a good recruiting tool by the way yeah they should utilize that more they can get tiger back good and then he made his way over i think god i bet you we went if we had 15 i think like 14 committed yeah uh on that and you know uh it was it was good and then the next so we got there and then he was he hung around the training room and uh and then he went he went pro that that summer before we started ball um but yeah that was that's my tigerwood story and then a year later you bring tiger on your recruiting trip or you do the jesus shuttleth for a recruiting trip which is the same i mean i have one more those aren't happened at that state
Starting point is 00:46:17 I had more of the Bambi experience personally, but I could see where that would be a cool thing. The big national recruit, Drew Stoltz. There's no way you would ever remember that, too. I still have, like, you know, Scott talks them all the time. And like, I haven't had that one-on-one where I could be like, hey, just so you know, you did this. And it'll be fun. Dude, we got to make that happen one day. One day it'll happen.
Starting point is 00:46:37 Just interrupt his warm up on Thursday. I think you got there. Yeah, tomorrow. Hey, you remember me. He was out there today. I mean, you know, you set me off. No, that didn't you know. I'm watching those guys today grinding out.
Starting point is 00:46:49 It's raining. I'm like, man, these guys, I'm not saying a word. We were right there, Spieth and Homa, we're hitting balls. They're turning around talking. We're having a good time. Yeah, me and you, not them. Oh, no, tomorrow, we're going to make this happen. We're going to go up a tiger.
Starting point is 00:47:02 I feel like for a guy like you, not like a quote-unquote golf guy, like he'd be into that. And you're a Stanford guy, too. But it was like a sport nut. So he probably watches, and he doesn't sleep. So he probably watches every one of all sports. He probably wants some tips on, yeah, some plays. David's got to be very. funny back and forth.
Starting point is 00:47:19 That's where Scott kind of launched his deal. Sure did. With that, Butler Cabin, wasn't it? My favorite thing about that, he named true, Scott, because usually he'll take off some time in the summer, and the Espies are that. And his claim is the only time he's ever been in the Espies was not for work. He went as Tiger's guest in 2001, I believe. I thought he liked Blonde.
Starting point is 00:47:39 No, no, that wasn't it. It likes a lot of different thing. But that interview, that interview he did, Scott tells it, awesome. He was sitting there, and I guess Steinberg's like, hey, you got this much time. And he's like, I could tell Tiger's having fun. He's like, I'm just going to go until they make me get up out of this chair. That's really cool. Yeah, that was it.
Starting point is 00:47:55 That was it for sure. And now look at him. Yeah, but we are definitely. Off to the races. We're going to make, we're going to go to the range together tomorrow. When Tiger's there, we're going to go shout him out. I think it would be a bit of bullshit. I'm not even bullshit.
Starting point is 00:48:05 I actually think that's real. Yeah. I think he just started walking. I'm walking the other way. No, we're doing it. Eldridge. Hey, hold on real quick. Get off the track.
Starting point is 00:48:16 E9, okay, we asked us to everyone. We're going to ask you, you can be anyone else for a day, dead or alive, who would it be? Just one day. Don't say Scott Van Pelt. No, I think we mentioned him before when we were talking off air. Who? Ryan Reynolds. Oh, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:48:31 Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah. He's got a lot of good days for him. You know? Can't close his wallet? Yeah. No.
Starting point is 00:48:40 Yeah, he's like sneaky, I think, a croach and a B. Yeah. By the way. Like, he's involved in tons of shit. I like that answer. That's the answer. That's a good one. Can I ask you one more real quick?
Starting point is 00:48:49 We used to ask this before. Movie about your life, who would play you? Oh. Hmm. I get the guy from the shield a lot. I don't know what that is. I know who it is. Stephen.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Yeah, I know exactly who it is. Like, from a look, even chickless? Chickless. Chickless. From a look. I'm not going to be able to that. Yeah, but like in terms of personality. It's better than Steve guy that used to do Springer.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Oh, yeah. Jerry's Brickett. I used to get that a lot. We asked Gary Woodland who would play him in a movie, and he said Denzel. Most of our people, like, your shit was pretty realistic. Most of our people's is just like fantasy land bullshit. You got to be. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:49:38 Tim Heron's like Matt Damon. Yeah. I'm like, okay, there you go. Okay, Tim. What are your guys answers? Okay. No, mine's Jamie Fox. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Which is pretty easy. Which is obvious. Obviously. You'd pick that too. I mean, I've never actually answered this for myself, but I know Gary, I think, I think, at Chris Farley. Okay. Who's, by the way, rest in peace.
Starting point is 00:49:57 You got to bulk up, you're going to have to gain some energy. I can do the energy. Can you do the fat guy, a little coat? Jimberdale's? Oh, boy. Yeah, I'm out on that. See, that's where I do get a little Paris when it comes to that stuff. That's tough.
Starting point is 00:50:11 That's tough. He wasn't afraid. All right. I think mine are all football, basically. I'm going to go somewhat recent. Since the year 2000, okay? Okay. Give me the best college football.
Starting point is 00:50:23 team ever or best college football team single team one year who is it since two thou probably oh one miami oh yeah way back that was the squad yeah that was like um look at that roster dorsey that was it was probably the worst player magahey yeah dorsey was probably the defense had like like nine dudes on the defense it just go through it it's unbelievable oh okay that was a sean taylor didn't even i don't even think he started yeah ray leigh yeah ed read no yeah Yeah. Sean, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:56 It's shocking. Yeah, Jeremy's shocking. It's loaded. I had some dogs. I'm not actually one golf one, even though I know you don't play anymore. Okay. But give me your low round ever and where?
Starting point is 00:51:06 Oh, God. Probably 84 at Grassy Hill Country Club in Milford, Connecticut. If you and Scott play, who comes out ahead? Oh, Scott's. Can he play? I've never seen him swing a golf club. He won't. Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:51:25 Probably his favorite thing is to go to his place and hit balls. That's what he wants to do. That's the sanctuary. Yeah, that's he, I get it. I mean, he'll go play. If friends are in town, he'll gather him and go play. But I don't think he likes the angst of playing. I like, he doesn't get a lot of time by himself.
Starting point is 00:51:46 Yeah. And like you said, his sanctuary is going his spot and hitting balls by himself. No phone. Just get away. I would guess, I would guess he's a right. round in nine or ten. Okay. As a tall dude, both of you all, as tall dudes, golf gets harder.
Starting point is 00:52:02 He knows, like, he's always talking to people about his swing and the game. Like, yesterday, you know, we're walking and he's asking questions. I could tell things are churning that he's trying to do. But I would definitely give him say nine. Okay. Yeah. Golf background. Makes sense.
Starting point is 00:52:19 Yeah. He knows what he's doing. Yeah. He's way smarter than he wants to be perceived. That's fantastic. Respect. I like that. All right.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Tom Brady roast. We mentioned it. It just happened. If you get to pick any on-air talent at ESPN, they get roasted. Y'all get to roast them. Who do you want? All the other on-air talent gets to take shots. And Nikki Glazer because she's awesome.
Starting point is 00:52:45 And we'll bring Nikki in and probably a few others. How good. She was so good. We'll bring Tony in. Booger McFarlane. Oh, man. I actually met him a couple years ago, Phoenix Open. What a great dude.
Starting point is 00:52:58 Bougar's the best. The Bougar mobile. There's a lot to go with there. Yes. He'd handle it too. He's a big golf. Big golf guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Big golf fan. But that would be the most fun. Okay. That would be the most fun. Get ready, bud. Take that up the ladder. That could happen. I could do some numbers.
Starting point is 00:53:14 We still need people working. Yeah. People are great with that, man. You can have to loosen up the HR department a little bit. I mean, I don't care how, I don't care how thick your skin is. Like, I mean, that's stuff with Tom the other night. It was funny, but it's like, boy, I mean, the X-Life stuff, like, that shit's... You see Beckham, like, texted him after he was like, hey, dude, you're doing okay?
Starting point is 00:53:34 Yeah. He's like, yeah, I made $10 million. I was going to say. I'm doing, I landed on a pillow full of trillions, so I'm fine. Yeah, still tough, though. No doubt. But it's funny. Hey, it's okay to laugh.
Starting point is 00:53:46 Just little jokes. Okay, mention bad beats earlier. Yeah. Favorite bad beat off the top of your head. Oh, man. So, I'll give you one. I bet I'm trying to think what the odds were
Starting point is 00:54:02 because it was bad I bet Tiger and a missed the cut Augusta in 19 how'd that work out by the way when we talk to them tomorrow I'm bringing that up as well but I have a sick thing in my head I'll bet against things
Starting point is 00:54:17 I want to see happen so if they happen it's that good win-win situation I do I do that like I'll bet against Stanford if they lose I win money Yeah. If they win, you're happy. I'll enjoy a win. I'll do that. But that was an all-timer. I think it was like minus 500.
Starting point is 00:54:34 And I'm like, wow, that's pretty bad. By the way, I might have added it as zero to and it was really bad. Yeah, I think that's what happened. Since he won the tournament, you should have lost like quadruple. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, there should be a little disclaimer. Make it miss the cut. It's funny because I got caught in this thing. It was like U.S. Open the year before. And a bunch of the guys, it was, was like plus 500 plus 400 for these guys to miss and a bunch of them miss and I hit them all so I was like this is pretty fun and well and I think that tigers played augusta more than anybody in the world and he made it this year yeah the hardest conditions ever and he's dragging his leg
Starting point is 00:55:13 around and he wanted on top yeah that's that that that's my worst beat guys that's the dumbest thing ever that's like a bad beat leg unlucky just rough call you know um what's another one god there's some good ones. I had Seattle in the Super Bowl and Russell threw the pick. I had a bet with Phil and Keegan on that and that one stung to pay. Also, they talk shit the whole time about it. I was like, really? Not for one second.
Starting point is 00:55:39 Did they think they were going to win? Maybe hand the ball to Marshawn Lynch. She's pretty good. Or just don't throw a pick. Yeah, don't do that. I don't have a problem with throwing a ball. Just don't throw an interception. Yeah, that was your quarterback for a year,
Starting point is 00:55:48 St. Two years. What's that? That was your quarterback for two years. You got a bow next jersey? Oh, boy. He is not happy about this. Yeah? Don't get me going on this, bud. I would love to be wrong. Who was I talking? Oh, Austin Kaiser.
Starting point is 00:56:03 Zander's got it. He's a huge Bronco fan as well. I would love to be wrong on this. I think it's an enormous whiff. Going into that draft, I said literally anyone, any of these quarterbacks, but Bo, if he's available and they're all, the rest of them are gone, go somewhere else. Take that edge guy from Bama or whoever. I hope I'm wrong. I think it's the most cocky pick ever by a head coach. He apparently loved it. Sean knows what he's doing. He's got Drew Brees, right? He's got all that. Then he brought up how he wanted nine years. When he was in New Orleans. I'm like, wow. Yeah. You're going to throw a pet. They were going to.
Starting point is 00:56:33 Bill Nix and Mahomes. I think we have two. Have you heard the story about the one in New Orleans? Yeah. So how he shot or how Drew showed up in the draft room, but he's never done that before. Brought his buddies. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:44 I think we have two Zach Wilson's is what I think. Oof. Which two Zach Wilson is better than one, Zach Wilson. What are we doing with the uniforms? But don't even. You're striking a nerve. All you got to do, easiest fix it up. You're going to look like U-TEP.
Starting point is 00:56:58 Just go to the, we look exactly like U-TEP. All you got to do is go to the throwbacks. Mecklenburg. Dude, the color rush we trotted out last year, I was like, just do that every game. I don't know what's wrong. We're making... Across the board.
Starting point is 00:57:11 Go back to your uniforms in the 80s. Everybody's way better like U-TEP. Steve. They do. They look exactly like U-TTEP. It's like a combination of U-TEP and UTSS. Yeah, like we're troting out to the Sun Bowl. It's terrible.
Starting point is 00:57:24 The miners and the roadrunners. battle. The Bronco. That's a great call. Which is a nice segue to my next question. 134 FBS football programs. How many of them do you own at least one piece of apparel? Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:57:41 I do not only have. Cow. Cal. Respect. By choice. Our ACCC. Compadry now. Yeah, that's a good rivalry you're going to have with NC State.
Starting point is 00:57:51 Texas OU this year. Red, wed with a wivewivalwee. The wedwiv of wivalwee. Yeah. That's a little inside. joke. But my man was rocking the SMU shirt. I text him. I'm like, hell yeah, that's my guy. Get you some frog. We need a little frog. Right, is my guy. SMU is in awesome hands. I can't wait until that stadium's done. And that is my ACCC dark horse this year.
Starting point is 00:58:09 So I'm telling you right now. I was just there. Heard from a little birdie. There is a stud quarterback from Duncanville. Apparently, one of the best quarterbacks of country. With NIA and all this, SMU, some of the donors just said, just give us the number. We want him to stay right here. That's why I love SMU. You should give us the number. the number. Yeah, they're the ones that brought me out Bambi. Let's just go Power 5. I don't have a Cal shirt.
Starting point is 00:58:32 I don't have an Ohio State. These are all by design, though. These are programs that you don't like. I haven't asked. Haven't asked. How do you get them? Do they send them to you or do you buy these? No, it's a lot more.
Starting point is 00:58:43 Like, once I started doing it on game, like I would always wear a t-shirt on Bad Beats or on Sports Center. That's your thing. And people, you know, loved it. And then, like, once game day happened, it went crazy. And my thing was like, I didn't want to do a Power 5. team I wanted to show love to, you know, the small guys. And it was awesome. You know, you get people from Montana checking in. It's like, and then Idaho comes. It's like, it's awesome.
Starting point is 00:59:07 And it's just, you know, we have three hours and normally we're going to talk about the biggest games. Like I want to, you know, we're paying attention. I love all the small ball. You know, grew up in Connecticut going in Nescat games and Division III football and going to Yale. So it's, it's my way of just showing that I appreciate everybody and they're, There's great ball all over, and everybody's working their asses off no matter what the level is, so good for them. Everybody by TCU. I'm sending you some frog gear. No.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Get that on the show. Yeah, I got some frog baseball gear. Okay, yeah. Or a powerhouse. Star-losing, man. Baseball. Omaha every year. All right.
Starting point is 00:59:41 Give me your favorite game day celebrity guest picker. Oh. I thought you're going to say. Let's all do one. That's a good question for everyone. I was a huge fan while you're thinking. Just recently, it just came to head because I'm a huge country music guy. Luke Combs at Appalachian State was awesome.
Starting point is 00:59:57 Luke was up there. He's awesome. Well, you think the dude from the hangover, the Asian dude always talks about his hoe. My ho. Leslie Scho. I love two things, like Duke football and my hoe. Some shit like that.
Starting point is 01:00:13 That's awesome. And he did say that. He did say that. Yeah, he's a huge. We've had Harris English on here, and he got to do it after the Rider Cup down in Athens. I was like, dude, that's like bucket. I mean, that's cool. Yeah, I think he said it was like, right.
Starting point is 01:00:29 I did so. I was more nervous for that than like that. Yeah, you see some people, I mean, they start getting, they come up with their little sheet. Yeah. And then like, you see them when they grab it and they're in there. I mean, that's the mecca for. Because it's a, like, you got to make sure.
Starting point is 01:00:43 I mean, more than not, they're not college football fans. So it's like, all right, I got to make sure I got this team right, you know. Yeah, of course. And then they'll, like, try to have a nugget about it. The Rock's entourage is something that people need to, it's incredible. That's Colorado this year. It's incredible. That spectacle is just something that I haven't seen, but favorite.
Starting point is 01:01:08 How deep is the Rock's entourage? How many we talking? Oh, close to 20 SUVs. Oh, my God. That's a lot. Yeah. Who are these people? He doesn't need much security.
Starting point is 01:01:18 I didn't have a chance to introduce myself to all of them. Maybe next time, shake some hands. He probably has it either. Shake some hands next time. 20 SUVs. It's pretty close. Yeah. Wow. Okay. That's cool. God, who's... I'm just trying to think my favorite people.
Starting point is 01:01:38 Vince Fawn's always great. Yep. Sparkle's. Farrill? Charles. Charles. Charles, because he loves... He knows what he's doing and he loves it. And it's my guy. Yep. He's the man. Tough to beat. Tough to top. Did you ask that? My turn? Yep. All right. Last one for me. Oh, boy. The number one college campus game day experience is where...
Starting point is 01:02:00 Baton, Louisiana. That's valid. Think about it for a second. Hold on, yeah, don't jump. I don't care what anyone says. It's not even close. Night game? They're in their own tier, yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:11 That's one place I would have to. No affinity for LSU or anything, but I just want to see it. It's that good. Like, we talk about exceeding expectations. I, God, my first one was Sabin's first game back, 08. Oh, and. Were they pretty reasonable? No, no, they weren't.
Starting point is 01:02:30 I was taking a cab. We took cabs back then. Right, right. I've heard of those. And the cab driver was like, I don't even know what the big deal is. Mike the Tiger's house costs more than Coach Saban's house did when he was here. I'm like, that's why the Tigers is more spoiled than anybody in that city.
Starting point is 01:02:49 But yeah, Saturday night and Baton Rouge, forget it. Damn, that was quick. That's awesome. That was. I put it in its own tier. Pound for pound, the greatest. When they play Garth Brooks' combat, and 100 hours ago.
Starting point is 01:03:00 And there's some good ones, too, dude. There's some good. But that was like... Wait until they play neck. Oh, God. That was quite. They played it in a dome too. Last one.
Starting point is 01:03:08 It's a little, would you rather? Oh, boy. I like these. Would you rather be the manager of Scott Van Pelt's schedule or his six-year-old son, Charlie's? Charlie's. Why? That was from Scott, by the way. Yeah, I could tell.
Starting point is 01:03:29 What's Charlie got going on? Charlie, minute for minute might be funnier. Really? At six years old. The kid is incredible. Incredible. Incredible. CVP on his way up.
Starting point is 01:03:41 Yeah. Make room. He is a bucket of fun and a handful. And I'll go with Charlie. He said, I know the answer is Charlie. He can just give you insight into what a mess of a human I am. I don't want to give people those details. We got to have some privacy.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Give me over under Diet Coke's for a day. Oh, boy. And now we're here. Yeah. All right. So he's on the air at 7 a.m. We're probably getting picked up at 5.5.30. He'll have one in the car in hand because he's got one in his room.
Starting point is 01:04:12 He'll drink. I'm going to say 15. Oh, shit. That's John Daly territory. I asked him at the PG 8Q. I said how many. He goes minimum 11 a day. I'm like, damn.
Starting point is 01:04:24 Easily. We'll come into work at 7 at night. We'll go on air at 1. It's easy. Six. Damn, that makes me feel better about myself. So when you go after. It's so good.
Starting point is 01:04:37 After the late night sports center, okay. What time do you wake up? It's, I try, try to bring my kids to school in the morning. And it's usually later, but that's fallen. With this last stretch, it's been late. But I've been, I've been sent my alarm for 10. Hey, hey kids, grab an Uber to school. I'll see when you get back.
Starting point is 01:05:01 I do feel bad. I just can't. Because the worst thing, I mean, you guys do, we got crazy schedules. When you wake, I'm old enough now where I get up, I can't fall back to sleep. Yeah. If you wake up one,
Starting point is 01:05:12 it's getting to the point two. It sucks. You're awake. Now, if I have a little window later in the afternoon for a two-hour nap, we're hitting that pillow. No doubt. Well, dude, this is a blast. Before we let you go, real quick,
Starting point is 01:05:23 just give us the, let's see how good you are, since it's going to be next week, the winner of the PJ Championship. Brooks Kepka. Okay, there you have it. There it is. Stanford, Steve, that was a blast, man. Appreciate you guys.
Starting point is 01:05:33 Thank you so much. You guys are awesome. All right, that was the one and only Stanford, Steve, joining us on Subbar. What a beauty that is. How about him being one of the biggest recruits in the country and getting to sit next to Tiger Woods is he's the guest of honor that night on his recruiting trip to Stanford? I'd never heard that story. And also now I'm wondering, like, why don't they trot Tiger out there every single time?
Starting point is 01:05:54 They want to sign somebody. Bring a five-star quarterback, whatever. Hey, we're going to need you. If you want a good football program and you want something to root for, we're going to need to show up. And like every kid committed, which, of course. That him, him betting on Tiger to miss the cut at the 2019 Masters was just beautiful. Goes on to win.
Starting point is 01:06:10 I still think you should have to pay like quadruple if that happens. And then the game day stories, you and I both love game day. We got to make a trip to LSU with him. I mean, he along with numerous other people that I know that cover football for a living, it's, I don't want to say it's unanimous. There's some other good ones out there too. But like LSU night game, like, it's it. I don't care about LSU.
Starting point is 01:06:29 I don't hate them or like them, but I want to go to a game. ESPN has the SEC, as you're saying. So they're going to have a lot more control over that. So I think they'll be doing some night trips to Baton Rouge. Yep. And he and Scott Van Pelt do. So the bat, like what you said,
Starting point is 01:06:43 the bad beat segment, one of the best segments. Getting up there with Johnson Wagner, by the way, who haven't even shouted out for going out there and just making a complete mockery of himself, which is, by the way, with Johnson all week. I was like, you don't even know. He's like, dude, I'm so embarrassed.
Starting point is 01:06:57 All of stuff. I was like, you don't know how many people falling in love with you because you are going through what everyone else is going through out there through the ones I mean I watched it 17 times the one where he went down on what four where Xander drove it and he flicked it up to like a foot he's like okay here's what you're gonna do and he hits the one he's like oh god and then the next one he grabs another club oh gee there's the skull and then you go all right let's go to the back pit grabs another one and I'm done it's just fucking I rewind it's 17 times I mean like even on 15 so I ran into him at the bar over
Starting point is 01:07:26 the hotel and this was after this was Friday night And I saw the one on Thursday where he said, I got the chipping yips. Okay. Well, Friday night, I hadn't seen the post game show. I hadn't seen live from. I go, dude, I was dying at the chipping yips. I said, wait till you see it a night.
Starting point is 01:07:40 He goes, I hit a toe shake and a heel shake. The first one in his defense, like from the hay, I'm like, yeah, dude, this is going to go nowhere or it's going to go a mile. The second one, though, he was like, all right, now we got a good lie. Let me show you all. I have this with a lot of speed. It's just, dude, the knee action.
Starting point is 01:07:55 The ball, I have the still shot of it. There's exiting screen right. Fuck you. I just send it to him. I was like, this is art, dude. I laugh at it so much more than I should, but I find it to be just the best. And the whole world, by the way.
Starting point is 01:08:08 Dude, you watch that show you watch live from afterwards. You're like, all right, when are we going to go to Johnson? And I'm watching the coverage. And I'm like, that's the one. They should make him hit that one. That long bunker shot there. Do that. Like, you know, like they need to, at least I gave him a full shot the last day.
Starting point is 01:08:22 And it's live from. So shout out to him for doing it live. Because he could drop a couple and be like, okay, let's just not make a total ass on myself. But nope. Exactly. No warm up. No warm up.
Starting point is 01:08:31 This is the first time I think he's had his own clubs, too, by the way. Like at TPC, at Sawgrass when he was, foot was slipping, hitting. Literally every shot he's hitting the thing has been in, like, best case scenario. He's going to end up hitting a good one here pretty soon. We got to enjoy this while we got it. But if you're battling chipping yips, zero warm up, national TV live, not the spot where you fix them. We were on. God, it's good, though.
Starting point is 01:08:53 On Saturday with Scotty's, no, no, it was Sunday. Yeah, it was the final round. on number four, Victor drove it down there in the first cut. And Trevor's like, what's he got? And I was like, I know Johnson Wagner wishes
Starting point is 01:09:04 that his ball the other night would have been in the first cut. I mean, you just, hey, we're laughing with you. Exactly. I was like,
Starting point is 01:09:11 dude, sex and I was like, there's nothing you can be doing that's better, like for your brand, if you want to call that, then what you're doing right now? It is,
Starting point is 01:09:18 and he owns it. He just laughs it off. It's fucking, but shout out to Stanford, Steve and Bargstown Bourbon. Y'all were awesome. Really appreciate everything y'all did for us. I hadn't had that much bourbon full disclosure in quite some time.
Starting point is 01:09:31 I had more bourbon. My stomach was on fire for two days. Dude, I was like Bowser and fucking Cupa just spitting those things out. By the way, I decided a good place to go right after that. It would be doing another tasting to have some supper. And I was like, dude, I got to be done. Have some supper. I got to be done.
Starting point is 01:09:45 I had a little nice, fancy supper over there. You got to take care of yourself, right? And we are taking care of not only ourselves. Everyone else, when we talk about our next, our latest sponsor, which is shipsticks who changes the way you travel. You use it, I use it. If you go anywhere on golf trips, which we all do, use it one time. You'll never not use it again.
Starting point is 01:10:05 I was thinking about the other day as like, look how like Rory flies to tournaments takes care of himself, right? Hops on the PJ, Scotty on the PJ. The big dogs that get up and perform, they're taking care of themselves. Clubs are tucked in there nice with them, treating them right? That's how you got to treat your clubs, dude. Treat your clubs the same way you would treat yourself. Get them in good shape going on a trip, you know?
Starting point is 01:10:26 Especially if you're going on a trip. a weekend golf trip with your boys. You don't want to go wait at baggage claim and all that. You got to go get the rental car, get new, or whatever. Just carry your clothes on, ship your clubs, use Shipsticks. They'll be there. Everything will be great. It is a game chain.

Starting point is 01:10:55 You'll thank us later. Happy clubs, best way to get a dub. I like that. Patent that. Well, Sleeze, Xander, Johnson. But also, shout out Harry Higgs. Yeah. They've been in the zone lately.
Starting point is 01:11:06 Big time. And it's important to be in the zone. Dude, I'm in the zone right now as we head into our picks. And I got to say, warning first, this product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical. Underage sale is prohibited. Introducing zone nicotine pouches. Got one in my grill right now.

Starting point is 01:11:46 And if I know anything about anything, it's getting there fast, blood. You know what I mean? I do not mess around. All right. Well, we did give you Zander Shafley as a winner of the PG. last week. Let's keep it rolling. The Charles Schwab challenge, aka the house that Slee's built. Me and Hogan, that's what they say. I don't really like to bring it up, but that's just the narrative down in Funky Town, and I go with it.
Starting point is 01:12:08 All right, we got it. Humbly, I accept. We got a newly redesigned colonial I'm actually very excited to see it. I've been talking to some members down there. What a turnaround, by the way. They did that thing quick. Finally, we're going to get some firm greens, some bouncy greens, which is the way this place is the best. All right. Well, my favorite. He's a dog. 35 to 1. I mean, we have him on all of our shows all the time. He's just fantastic, one of the best golf swings. Had it going last week at the PGA.
Starting point is 01:12:31 Give me Harris English, 35 to 1. When you said dog, I was like, are we going to be on the same one three weeks in a row? But shout out to us. This is to stay hot. I'm going with another dog, too. 40 to 1. He's been on two monster golf courses the last two weeks with quail and then Valhalla. It's not really his game.
Starting point is 01:12:49 He hits it long enough, but he's not one of the dudes flying it out there at 310 plus. Get him back in the comfort zone. Give him some firm bouncy greens. We're hitting fairways. becomes an advantage again. Brian Harmon, 40 to 1. Let's go. All right. Well, I'm just going to stick with the dogs. Because my man has been on a roll until this last week at the PGA. It was a big boy golf course for him. Length was a huge advantage. This guy's not the longest hitter in the world. I think Colonial should set up perfect for him. 50 to 1,
Starting point is 01:13:13 SEP Straka. Love set. Just a simple action. Simple action for the big fella. All right, I'm going to go. I'm breaking the dog streak, going with a cowboy here, played late on Sunday. Played late this weekend at the PGA championship going off at 60 to 1. Incredible iron player. Very straight driver of the golf ball putter here and there. But it should set up perfectly for him if that golf course is firm and fast. Give me Austin Eckro.
Starting point is 01:13:40 I love that. He is so solid and not scared of the moment. And I'm going to give him a lot of credit because last year when we started the CBS walking talks, one person recorded over par on a hole. It was Austin Eckroar who made double. Okay. Only person. PGA Championship, major, going down 15 on Saturday. We asked him to do it again, didn't hesitate.
Starting point is 01:14:01 Birdie. What a bounce back. That's what I'm talking about. I was watching that. I think Nancy brought, he was like, dude, he made dove. And I was like, damn, the only, I was like, dude. Because it's different when dudes are playing with that thing in their ear. You got to talk through it all.
Starting point is 01:14:13 I was like, no one else? No. Fucked up a hole. Just Austin. We don't pick the hardest holes. Just A town. He's great. He's an awesome dude.
Starting point is 01:14:19 He's a awesome dude. He's a bad with a birdie. Shout out to him. Good for him. Man, that was a lot of fun this week. Congratulations to Zander Shafley. I'm picking up his first major title. And Austin Kaiser, shout out. Big one for the kid. Both guests. We have two majors this week. That's it. Stacking them up. But that was a, that was fun to watch. All right. Thanks for listening. We'll talk to you on next week's subpar.
