I mean, we played a ton of pickleball in college. Scott, he helped us out. He put in a pickleball court basically right under our driving range at ET golf club. So that's all the time. When the weather was good, like there was basically no practice going on. We were just walking down with the pickleball court. And it's in like a little shaded area too. So it was pretty money.

But I definitely got to get back into more of it. I've got some buddies in Dallas. So try and get back into pickleball. But no, I mean, when I'm not on the golf course, I kind of like to chill. I feel like golf consumes a lot of what we do on a daily basis. So I try and just get away. I love that.

All right, well, let's get to the golf this week, the BMW championship, second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs,

and your boy, Wyndham Clark picks up his third win of the season, ends up beating Patrick Cantley by three shots, but it was not easy. He took a massive lead into the final round, led by five, led by six at the U.S. Open over this year, held on to win that one, and kind of the same thing this week at Belreve, got off to a shaky start on Sunday, but I saw a new Wyndham Clark, in my opinion, Sleeze.

the way, you know, he bogeys the first hole on Sunday and could be fired up, could be a little derailed, and the way he walked from the first green to the second T, high-fiving the fans, smiling, just looking like, hey, it's all okay. And that's coming off Roy McElroy making a birdie to cut the lead from five to three right away. When he made that walk to the second T,

I was like, I think he's going to be okay. He's embracing this right now instead of losing his shit. Yeah, and it's like, you know, he's done a hell of a job in some of the biggest tournaments this week. US Open, like you mentioned, and building these enormous leads, which sometimes is like a bit of a tricky mental space to be. And like, you're supposed to win at that point. But when you got like Rory McElroyd chased you down or Scotty Schaeffer, like, people don't run away and hide too often. And he's handled it well the last two times. I think they've gotten way closer than he would have

liked. I mean, with three holes left when they're squared up and he hadn't made a birdie the entire day, Rory's, you know, nipping at his heels. At no point ever would I have been like, oh, Windham will probably win this by three. but combined with a couple of Rory, you know, a big Rory mistake on the par five there. And then him clutching up and getting that putter going, that putter has been just lethal. When that thing's gotten going, I mean, he's, he's puts, he makes as many feet of putts as anybody in golf right now and has for about the last four months. Yeah, Saturday was a joke with the putter. I mean, they were, it's not like he made a ton of bombs.

It's just every 12 to 15 footer he buried right in the middle, whether it was for birdie or for par. the putter. If he switches, you know, he's a tinkerer. You know that. If he switches, I think luckily he has a contract with ping in that putter so he won't be switching. But, oh, boy, that thing is a weapon. Yeah, you go back to the U.S. Open. Same thing. When he gets that going and he drove it straighter this week, I mean, he has the ability to do the weird, like he's one of the few guys out there. And there's not many, I would argue, that can go get a five, six shot lead over the best players in the world, the biggest tournaments going into a Sunday.

And like you said, three wins, got a major now, got a playoff win, a non-signature event, player of the year. Like, I think it's still up for grabs. I mean, might just come down to East Lake, but I think it's a two-horse race at this point. Yeah, I do think it is. I mean, now if Cam Young goes out and wins, Roy McRoy, which I don't think Roy McRoy should be able to win because he hasn't played the minimum number of events. If Matt Fitzpatrick wins, if Chris Goddrup wins, like there's still a lot of things that could happen. Now, I do think Scotty and Wyndham are the frontrunners. I think because it is a player vote,

and I know how the players feel about Scotty and how much they respect his consistency, how he leads every single category. Like, I mean, you look at, you know, scoring average. He's basically a shot better than anybody else. Strokes gained, he's almost a full shot better than anybody else. His performance in majors, his average finish in majors is sixth place. Windham missed two cuts in majors.

Like, I know they just look at those things and break it down and say like, man, Scottie's year it's just, it's week after week. I mean, he had fucking hand, foot and mouth this week and he finished 12th. Yeah. Which, by the way, can we, can you tell us that before the tournament starts,

just for the people that like to place a little action on it? Yeah, and also, like, the people you're around, I think it's like one of the most contagious things you can get. So you're just showing up and dapping everybody up, giving high fives, like, oh yeah, by the way, I got hand foot and mouth. But player of the year, like, I don't think he was giving high fives.

If, I mean, he was. If Scotty or Winham doesn't, win this week. I think Scotty will win it just based on the things that you said. But it's interesting because, like, for me personally, and I've said this even going back to like when it was Rory and Brooks and Brooks had the majors and stuff. It's like ultimately what you're remembered by when you're one of these top players is like your wins. Like Scotty's year's been unbelievable. He's the best player. He's made the most money. I don't think that's in question. But like, you know, going back, like naming how many top tens Jack Nicholas had in a single season

or something like that, nobody knows. It's just how many majors, how many wins. Like that's ultimately what you're judged on. And I think it makes it very interesting because Scotty's year is the best, but I think if you went to Scotty right now, assuming neither of them win at Eastlake and said, Scotty, would you trade, we win them? I think you'd do it in a heartbeat. More wins.

I honestly don't know if he would. I don't like because one thing with the way Scotty talks about his legacy, he doesn't care. He wants to just prepare and be the best he can week in and week out. And I think he's very proud of how consistent he has been this year. Obviously, he wants to win. But I don't know if he would try. It'd be a very interesting discussion.

Yeah, because when we've had other guys on, like I like to ask that question. Like, is it three wins or a major? And is it this or that? Like, it normally gets around that three and a half four range before guys are like, okay, you know, I take four wins over a major. That's a lot of winning. But yeah, it just depends how you wait it. Wyndham's got the, you know, got him on wins, got him on the magnitude of events. Wyndham's also only played good for like half the year.

And Scottie's been what Scottie's been for the entire year. But either of those guys wins at Eastlake, it's done deal. and if neither of them away it becomes interesting. Yeah, I mean, you mentioned the money list part. Scotty leads to the money list, I believe, by $5.5.5 million over Windham or six and half over Cameron. I can't remember what it is. That's a joke.

He's, what was it, 1,500 FedEx Cup points ahead of Matt Fitzpatrick? I mean, it's just, it's, I get it. The wins are what matter. It's remarkable how well he plays just week in and week out. He never has the throwaway. except for the Scottish Open this year. Yeah, like every metric you can go with. Like, I just don't remember, like, I saw Brandl go into, like, all the stats in which

Scotty is, like, leading. And, like, it's clear, like, no one's disputing that Scotty Shephler is the best golfer in the world. It's just, I've never before in, like, a player of the year discussion heard, like, strokes gain stats being brought up. It's normally just, like, wins, top fives, top tens, runner up, you know what I mean? Like, no, like, statistical metrics. But, I mean, Scott is the best player in the world.

Wyom Clark said it. Roy's like everybody knows that. But it, Windham made it interesting without question. No doubt. And I think the one thing Brandel's just throwing it out there is, yes, for the fans, they just look at the results. But because it's the players voting on it, they're out there week in and week out there.

They know what's going on out there. I mean, Roy was rattling off Scotty's stats the other day in an interview. So because it's a fellow player that is the one voting on it, I just think they respect the consistency so much. If it ended right now, I think Scotty Sheffler, would be your winner just based off what the players. Now, Wyndham Clark's had a hell of year. If he goes out and does it again at Eastlake, hand him the trophy.

It's over. Yeah, either of those guys wins. Either of those guys win, and it's a wrap. And then there's a handful of those other guys that would make it interesting, like a Godor up or a Cam Young. Don't know if it would be enough, but it's cool to go into the East Lake, honestly, and kind of have it still be a conversation. Normally, it's just wrapped up at this point.

Oh, yeah, the last four years. You could have handed it to them two months ago. Yeah. And said this thing was over. We'll see. I'm excited to get to Eastlake. It's our last of 22 tournaments for CBS this year. It's been a hell of a year.

And speaking of a little TV, you made your debut, Corn Ferry Tour over in Kansas City. I was obviously working, didn't get to see a lot. I did respect that you really prepared. You called me the night before your first day to ask some questions. I'm either ready or you're not ready. I'm only with you every single day. but you know night before that's how the sleazy man goes but tell me about it how was it

yeah we had a great time it was fun out there it's a different animal i know all the things you said like it's you're in and out faster than radio in radio you're describing every single thing that's going on around them you got a lot of time like to kill honestly and then and tv it's just like boom in and out in and out there's a couple of things that make it difficult with like the technology and a little bit of a delay and things like that but i had a great time got my feet wet it was cool to see a bunch of the guys out there, a bunch of like former guys I used to play with and things like that that are now in the bag for some of the guys that are out there. I do have to tell you a great story from the airport yesterday.

So tournament ends. Everyone's driving to Kansas City. They got two weeks off. So everybody's going home. Everybody's flying out of Kansas City yesterday evening. So I get there. I'm like an hour and a half early before my flight. Get in there.

I might go to the bar. I might have a drink here, get some food before. So go in this restaurant. Only place to sit is the bar. There's a bunch of open seats. Sit down. I order a beer hanging out on my phone. Chair pulls up next to me.

Gino, Benelli, who I saw all week. He was actually on the bag one time because one week contract there with Blades Brown, though. So followed him one of the days. He got to catch up with Gino. He's like, hey, you mind if I sit? I'm like, park course, dude, right here. Sit down. He sits down, orders a beer.

We're talking. And this lady comes up, you know. Maybe a little older than us, Colt, looks like she's, you know, she's got some mileage. She looks like she's been, you know, how to enjoy herself. She sits down at the table next door. She immediately starts talking Gino up. Hey, how you doing? Oh, what kind of beer are you drinking?

Bar-chender comes up. I'll have what he's having, all this stuff. And I'm looking at my, oh, this is going to be fun. Beer comes. And she's like, let's all take shots. And we're like, dude, like, you know, Geneo's like, I'm, you know, I'm just getting on a plane to go home. I'm not really a shot guy. I'm more of like a beer guy.

And I was just like, yeah, yeah, I'm good with the beer. all that stuff. And she's like, are you going to make me take a shot by myself? Like, you can do whatever you want. Like, we're just going to have some beers here. So she drinks her beer, orders a shot, takes it down, immediately orders another one. Me and Gino are looking at you. Like, damn, this chick's going.

And she's just chatting Gino up, chatting Gino up. Gino finally looks at her actually orders like her second or third. And she's like, where are you headed? And she's like, oh, I'm going to L.A. And he's like, what are you headed out there for? And she goes, rehab. Sick. Dude, we kind of like laugh.

We were like, oh, yeah, that's because she was having drinks. She was like, and Gina was like, no, really, what are you going out there for? She's like, no, I'm going to rehab. I'm just trying to get in as many as I can before I get on the plane. Okay. It was incredible, dude. I was like, okay. And we're off.

Good luck, lady. Yeah. What a way to. Oh, it's so good. Get it all out of your system. Oh, man. I laughed and just looked at each other like, holy shit. Whoever sits next there on that flight is.

in for it. Wonder if that's the lady that sat next to me on the plane that took the picture of me. You sit next to the hot guy? Nope. Not at all. Probably that same lady. Good luck, woman. No, dude,

she would have been drunk enough to think you were Brad Pitt, bro. That's perfect. Yeah. I love that. Well, the Colt-nosed Johnson Wagner series rolled on this past week in St. Louis. And I got to give a huge shout-out.

St. Louis Country Club. Okay, played with the head pro, Grant Masson there. We, have you ever been to St. Louis Country Club? Oh, yeah. I got a jick down there. Love that town. But have you played St. Louis Country Club? Oh, no, I played St. Louis Country Club.

So unbelievable place. Old school, this place goes through the neighborhood. They've had a U.S. Open there. I believe U.S.A.M. Curtis Cup. It is sick. And it's 6,700 yards from all the way back. It's just absolutely heaven for me. But I've got to give a huge shout out to that place.

It was so much fun to play. Old school. as good as it gets. And we were playing it as myself, the pro grant, Johnson Wagner, and our man Kevin Ruter, who you know from Bounty Club

and all over the place involved with 8 a.m. golf here. And we had ourselves a day. We were playing a four ball. And I thought it was turning into a fivesome because there's this guy named Nelson Grumny, Sleeves, who kept coming over to our group and talking to me.

He kept interrupting me from talking to Johnson and Grant and everybody. He wouldn't leave me alone. I thought he was trying to join our group, but come to find out, he was just looking for his T-shot on every whole. because he can't ever hit it on the right hole. Just a random dude that kept blowing it into y'all?

Nelson Grumny. Shout out to you, sir. Work on that driver a little bit. He's also very good friends with the moose, Connor Trias. Oh, that explains it. Not known for the straight ball either. Makes sense, no.

That place is sweet, though, by the way. The city of St. Louis as a whole is fun. And the two experiences that I've had with it, it is a great time. It was, we had an awesome week there. Stayed in an area called Clayton, which St. Louis Country Club was 10 minutes away. Played there. Beat the hell out of Johnson, five and four.

It's now 14 and 3 on the season. It's just, he's got some work to do, so he's, I don't know what he's going to do. I think he needs to start over and rebuild. Yeah, time to get back to drawing board, assess, get with your team, figure out how to come back better next year. Also played a cool place called Presbyn Woods Country Club, which was a lot of fun. But it was an awesome week, man. One to go.

and then it is time for member guest season. That is right. Then it is coming in full, by the way. Also, the next time we're record this show, football will have started as well. Thank the heavens. Yeah, and we'll have some guys that played in the NFL, apparently playing on college teams.

Yeah, it's cool. The college game, they got it buttoned up right now. What are we doing? I mean, it's the complete, it's the biggest disaster. They're trying to ruin one of the greatest things in the history of a. America and they're doing a hell of a job with it right now. Well, we are just a few weeks away from the start of NFL.

You mentioned your Broncos going up against the chiefs right out of the gate. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. A lot of chief people out in KC this week. It was tough. That was one of the tough things. But otherwise, Blue Hills, thank you to them. They were phenomenal all week.

When you get home, we're going to sit down. We're going to watch the film, you know, nitpick a little bit. Yeah. How you can do this.

Is this something you think you want to do going forward? Is it just a one-time thing? Yeah, we'll see. I mean, I think it's one of those things like. Your voice kind of cracked. I don't think. Say what? Your voice kind of cracked.

That only means your line. You're like, yeah. Yeah. No, I want to get better at it. Like, it's one of those things. I don't know how you practice it really without like getting reps and things like that. Like I said, we had a couple tech issues out there that I think made it even more challenging than it could have been.

But dude, I love working with nitties and bacon, by the way. Like, those guys are great. Also, the Corn Ferry Tour, dude, is minus eight cut. Three guys from minus nine. This course, last year the cut was even par. So eight-stroke swing, granted different time of year. But, dude, it's just like, man, talking with some of the guys, like, it's a joke.

Like, you have to shoot 67 each day. Just feel like you keep up. is insane. And a big shout out to Yudisigiora for birding the last three. I thought we were headed for a playoff, BG. And I was like, there goes the flight, everything, all that. So it was a sick finish, though. Tom Watson was out there. It was cool. Yeah, playoffs can ruin some travel plans. That's good point. Definitely not. Definitely not. No. Let's talk about this run you've been on. I mean, these last six weeks, I mean, you started. First five, top tens all out of the gate. Slees mentioned the wind coming off that PGA Tour

or U program. Did you expect to have this much success this early? No, I think you'd be crazy if he said you'd expect that. I mean, I definitely was playing well and had a good couple last weeks of college in the spring and had a pretty good national championship. But no, I mean, to come out of the gates like that was pretty crazy. But, I mean, nothing wrong with getting hot.

I was pretty happy to do it. Good time to do it, by the way. Has there been any, like, when it all comes so fast like this, you go from NCAA championships to boom, like you're stamped on the PGA tour, has there been any, like, off-the-course stuff, like sponsorships, just all the stuff that goes into being a PGA tour rookie that's been overwhelming or harder to manage? I don't know.

I mean, I think I'd spent a lot of time around professional golf, so I had a pretty, you know, a good idea of what it would look like, but to actually go out there and be a pro is different, especially when you're paying for your own expenses and travel and, you know, coaches aren't taking you from point A to point B. It's definitely a little different. But, no, I mean, I've got great people around me that are making it super easy for me. So everything, I mean, everything's been pretty smooth over the last two months.

One thing that I love that you did is you went out and you hired a veteran caddy in Scotty McGinnis, who's been on the bag, you know, from Matt Jones. obviously Scotty Sheffler when he first turned pro. But how did that relationship come about? It was pretty last minute. I think it was probably 10 to 14 days before we started. My first week out was in Amarillo. That was my first corn fray event.

And just prior to going to Amarillo, we got linked up. Super fortunate that that happened. He's amazing. I'm sure you guys know him, but he's been so good for me. And I feel like he's come to understand my golf game better than I. even know it and we've only been together for what six events now so um i definitely sounds cliche but there's no way i'd have the success that i've had over the last couple months without without him being on the bag yeah i mean you boys are off to the races and you had a huge you know amateur collegiate

career but what's changed in like the last two months clearly you're playing the best golf of your life like to do what you've done in the in the six starts that you've had out there what's changed or click or does anything in your game feel different than it did you know when you're playing it's an amateur? I think he probably does a lot in terms of like giving me confidence and just being out there together. I think he's a really good guy to lean on. I mean, nothing's really changed in the way I prepare or the way I have done things at home. I mean, really the only thing that's changed is that Scotty's carried my bag. So, I mean, I really mean, I really mean, I really mean, I really mean, it's not like I started, you know, spending a bunch of hours in the gym or doing

some crazy stuff. I mean, really the only thing that's changed is that Scotty's been walking with me. So, you know, I think there's probably something to do that. I did hear back in college, though, you led the team as far as the fitness charge. Y'all are 6 a.m. workouts. You had the squad there at 545 every morning. Yeah, I tried to because I thought, I mean, we could do little things better. So I thought maybe we could try and get to work out slow early.

That's probably one of the only things I did. But I don't know. I was like, if we're going to get up at 6, we might as well do this. right. No one wanted to get up. So I figured might as well get there a little bit early. And I think anything to make Coach Fields happy. So I think he was happy when we did that. I need to. We did that too. I need to hear that. We kind of set that tone. I need to hear about the other thing you led the team in and that was heading to Armando's after workout. Tell me about this Armando's because I'm actually going to be in Austin in October for Texas versus Florida.

Oh, are you really? Okay. I'll probably be there too. We'll have to link up. Hell yeah. Yeah, Armando is like a, I mean, it's in. a gas station right next to our apartment. It's not the most glamorous place in Austin. But it was perfect right after workouts. It was a good hang. I think everyone would eat like three breakfast tacos and go straight back to bed. The 8 a.m. class on Tuesdays and Wednesdays was usually not. No one was making it to that class. Probably because everyone was taking a nap after Armando's. But yeah, we got pretty close with his name was Armando. He worked back there. And

we got like a big team poster and he put it up on the wall and a bunch of guys sort of going so it's pretty it's pretty amazing i heard armando rocked a lot of texas golf gear yeah we gave him a hat but he said he didn't want to wear the white tex tag because it was get it was going to get dirty in the kitchen so i didn't i actually haven't seen him wear but uh but no he's the best we'll have to maybe we'll go the college golf gear is good currency yeah back in the day um what you you said like you're talking about going to the gym at 545 dude you look I haven't seen you in person in a while, but like you've lost a lot of weight. Like you look really good.

Like, is it just that or you've been doing something else? I mean, if we get into it, I did like a carnivore diet for a couple months. I was in, I was traveling through Europe last summer. And I thought the food over there was super clean. You could pretty much eat whatever you wanted and you weren't going to gain much weight unless you spent a little too much time at the pub. So I was eating a bunch of food and lost weight and felt really good. I think it was about time that I had lost some weight to.

And so I lost a bunch of weight doing that. But yeah, I mean, that was pretty much all it was. I did no carb, no sugar for two months, which I don't want to do that again. I feel like I'm good where I'm at. Hey, the no carb one thing. How do you do the no sugar? That seems impossible. I mean, it's basically impossible, but I try the best I could.

And I don't know, I'm glad I did it, but I've got no plans of doing that again. Yeah, sanity matters too. Yeah. But with where you're at right now, Can you just talk a little bit because Sleez and I talk about the PGA Tour U program and how we think it's one of the best things the PGA Tour has ever done, deciding to do this where you young studs coming out of college, get a chance right away, whether it's on the PJ Tour America's,

the Corn Ferry or the PGA Tour if you finish number one. But can you just talk a little bit about that program? Like your senior year, how much were you keeping an eye on where you were in the rankings? I mean, I was super nervous my senior spring. I think there was basically no chance I could get to number one just with how well Ben James was playing. and I didn't play great in the fall. But, you know, two, three, four, and five on PJ Tour,

you got Final Stage Q School, which, I mean, it made a big difference because, you know, Final State of Q School, you have a chance to get a PJ Tour card, you know, if you finish top five at that. So I was definitely aware of it. It was nerve-wracking, but at the same time, we had a lot of it was out of your control. We had three guys, myself, Luke, and Christian,

that were all kind of in the same. spot. And I think we got to a point where it was, it was pretty safe, regardless how we played, we were pretty much going to play on the Corn Ferry Tour, which was amazing. So I was super aware of it. And it was, I think the program is amazing. You could see what so many guys have done, but just most recently, I mean, Jackson Coyven won on the PJ Tour, sleeping on a lead. And then Frankie Harris, two days ago, shot 59 on a golf course where you're not supposed to shoot 59. I mean, the back nine was like almost 4,000 yards. It was brutal and ends up winning the golf tournament.

So I think there's some proof there over the last couple weeks that, you know, the younger guys are getting out there and ready to go. Yeah, how about you mentioned the 59. He shot 27 on the back and Alastard Doherty shot 28 to get into the play. Yeah, I was sitting in the airport with Will Gordon yesterday right after it happened. And I was like, I think if I was a couple shots back, I think he was two shots back and shot 27 on the back nine. And had to go into a playoff, I'd quit the game.

Like that is the most absurd thing I've ever seen. That was two unbelievable back nines. Golly. Yeah. And there's some places like Utah, I feel like you see 59 watch like every single time. Sometimes it's like multiple. But that's not one of the courses where you like circle it. Like this is the one that they're going to torch shoot 27s and 28s.

Yeah. Utah you had two drivable holes on the back nine plus a short part five. and then a couple wedges coming in. But, I mean, that place last week in wherever we were, Omaha was like, it was long and thick rough and greens are pretty fast. Like, you're not supposed to shoot 27 on the back nine. That's not. But kudos to him.

That's pretty amazing. Kids are good, man. They do it out there on that corn fair. You got to go. And going to Texas, playing for Coach Fields, who's coached so many great players, so many PGA tour winners throughout his career. Obviously, Scotty Sheffler, world number one right now, Jordan Speath. When you were in school there, how much time did you?

you get to spend around those guys and possibly like pick their brain? I don't think, I mean, Scotty and Jordan are pretty busy guys. We need to spend too much time around them. But I think UT Golf Club and the facility we had was definitely kind of a base where if guys wanted to come back and practice, they were always allowed. And it's a really good facility. So every once while we'd have guys pop in and get to spend time around him. But just being around Coach Field, I think is super valuable.

I mean, he's coached for, I think this is 30th year at Texas. He's seen a lot of guys come through the program. I think he's really good at what he does. And it's, I mean, that experience is invaluable. So just to be a part of that program is pretty special. And he definitely sets you up for success. So if you're walking out of there, you know, you're feeling pretty confident. Got a great mustache, too.

Great stash. One of the great dudes, great coaches. We'll go down in history when it's all done. Staying on those guys like Scotty and Jordan and even just some of the other UT alums. Are there any that you, like, go to? maybe as you were turning pro or that you'll do now as you're going into your rookie season to look for, advice, talk to, get counsel?

I mean, yeah, as much as I can. I stayed with Colehammer last week. I've been talking with him a lot on Cornfair. I think Parker, Cootie is back and healthy. I think he's playing this week. So hopefully spends the time with him. Pearson's been playing great. I could go down the list.

I mean, Bo almost one last week. Doug Gim was playing well. So many guys. So I think, I don't know that I've, you know, really reach out to anyone specific, but Bo Hoster's been super nice to me. He reached out and kind of said congrats and nice playing. I've been texting him a little bit. But, you know, it feels like a family.

I mean, Texas golf is definitely a family and everyone's kind of there for each other. Where's your home base going to be? I'm in Dallas. I just moved into an apartment and Frisco with my older brother. All right. What are the home games look like? I've been playing some with my buddies at Brooke. That redo.

So good. Yeah, it's the best. But I'm open to any games. So I know you're spent some time in Dallas. I'm game. They got a good crop down there now in Dallas, too. I feel like it used to be like Florida, Scottsdale. Now I feel like Dallas got a ton of them.

I can tell you this. Seawu just loves handing money out. So just make sure you go get a hold of him. He doesn't mind it. I mean, I've played a lot of golf at Royal Oaks. I think he's there over there. Oh, yeah. So I love it over there.

He gets his ass whipped every single. single weekend. It's great. What's their schedule like the rest of the year? You're hanging out this week. You're up in New Jersey. I mean, you're going to play out the Corn Ferry Tour, I expect. But like, what do you expect all to take place going forward? I'm going to take this week off and then I'll play the rest of the cornfairy season, maybe get into a couple events in the fall on the BJ tour, hopefully. But that'll pretty much be it. I think we have five more on the Corn Ferry, excluding this week. So definitely still a lot to play for and definitely still, you know, hungry to keep playing well.

Yeah, and I was looking at your stats because now you like, you qualify to be in all the statistical categories out on the Corn Ferry Tour and your numbers are just absurd. But if I said this offseason, we're going to focus on one part to get ready to be even better on the PJ tour next year. What would it be? I don't know. I mean, the last five weeks it felt like a dream. I mean, I don't want to wake up from it. I feel like everything's been really good. So, I don't know. I think you can't really get too good at wedges and hitting numbers. It feels like everybody's hitting their numbers.

I think that's something I struggled with early on Corn Ferry. Our second week out was in Springfield, and it was pretty much a wedge fest, and I thought it was okay. So, you know, it definitely could get better with some wedges. But I think my driving and putting has been really good over the last maybe two years. Springfield's a hard place to win, man. Not anybody can do it. Yeah.

Yeah, that's a real true. test. That's what they say. That's what they say. Tommy, it's well documented. You're going to be a tallest guy in professional golf. You're six foot nine. It gets talked about everywhere. Give us, what's the best advantage you have being six foot nine playing when it comes to golf? And what's the toughest part about it? It's definitely easier to create speed. I don't think of the longest by any means. It feels like everybody hits it 320 yards in the air now. But it's definitely easier for me to create speed. I don't know. It's weird because I'm I'm six foot nine, but I feel like I'm a normal height, which is probably crazy to everyone. But I really don't feel

any different. I feel like I'm six nine, but I feel like I'm a normal height. No, I don't know. I don't know how to explain it. It's a terrible answer, but I love that. What do you feel? He's 13 inches taller than me. You got two of them. What hell do you feel like? What kind of speed do you have? I mean, I'm right around 120, 180, which is pretty normal now. Is that like stocked now? Because I was just talking to a buddy of ours who just took the head coaching job at UNLV and he finally got to go out and play with his team. And he's like, dude, we don't have a guy top five or not that's under 180. I mean, is that just stock college now? I mean, that's higher than the PJ Tour. Yeah, I mean, college is definitely longer than what I've seen on the corn ferry,

which is pretty scary over the next five years. Guys are going to be bombing it. But I don't know. I feel like I play a song every week who, you know, maybe he's a little shorter, but then there's also another guy who's, you know, hitting it farther. So I don't know, everybody feels like everybody has it far now. The days of being a precision player are just gone. And I think, I mean, you could, you're 22 years old. Is that when you were getting taught growing up, was it all about like, hey, let's teach you how to hit it far first and we'll worry about hitting it straight later? Definitely being an athlete is important. Like playing other sports, someone was talking about it the other week. Colhammer and I were,

doing like a sponsor party last week and someone asked what their kids should do. I think he was like 12 or 13 if he should focus on golf. And we were both kind of like, I think you should play as many sports as you can. If golf ends up being the one, then roll with it. But definitely playing a bunch of sports. I mean, one of my college roommates, Christian Moss, one of my good friends. He played a bunch of rugby growing up. And he's, I think, 6'1 and super built and hits it, you know, just as far as anyone I've seen.

So, I mean, being an athlete is definitely a part of the game now, which, sorry colt hey i had my run Tommy i had my run I over it chief I know you well you know you well enough to maybe it'd be weird if you didn't lean into it even when did you shut down playing all the other sports and be like all right it's golf because I'm sure you're getting pushed a bunch of like coaches basketball coaches all this like dude come play on our team yeah yeah I played uh travel AAU basketball for a while they could until I was 13 um and then you kind of get to the age where you got to pick a sport if you're going to, you know, travel and take it seriously.

And I ended up playing golf. Yeah. Yeah. It's working out okay for you. Did you have a moment in AAU? Because I kind of feel like there's this moment for a lot of people, whatever sport you get into, where you think you're good, you're playing in your home. And then you go play like a national tournament and you play against, you know, a dude that's going to Duke or something like. And you're like, okay.

So maybe it is golf after all. Did you have one of those? I was maybe a little too young for that. We had a pretty good AAU team, though. Our coach was Mark Alery, who played for the Washington. bullets for a while. He played college basketball at Duke. And we were pretty good. His son was on the team too. But I was too young to get to that moment, probably thankfully.

But I definitely remember being, I think 12, I was probably, I don't want to say that's wrong, but I was probably 6'4. And I was just positioned under the rim. And I think we were pretty dominant. Don't move. Six, four, at 12. When you're basically the angel Reese of AAU basketball. Yeah, double doubles, dude. Double dubs. The kids, probably, the kids with the boys' 12 division of AAU probably thought it was like

Web and Yama. I can remember mine. It's like eighth grade year. Dude dunked in warm-ups against us. And I was like, what, like this is about, what age were you first dunk in warm-ups or game? Probably most recently. I mean, right before college I dunked, but I mean, I can't jump very high. I haven't tried dunking in a while.

Yeah, that's probably smart. Yeah, don't hurt. Get your insurance figured out. Don't wrong. That'd be pretty embarrassing if I couldn't. Yeah. Six, four, at 12, that'd be fun. One thing I would love to talk about because I thought it was so cool watching it on TV this past year was the Walker Cup, Cypress Point.

Y'all went out there, obviously, won. But getting to play at a place like that, which I didn't think we would ever see on TV in present day, just because with how the history of that place and obviously one of the most prestigious golf courses in the entire world. What was it like playing a Walker Cup there and getting to represent your country? It was amazing. I mean, anytime you represent a country is the best honor you can have in your sport. And it doesn't happen that often in golf, I feel like. So to be able to do it at a Walker Cup at Cypress Point was probably the coolest week I'll have in my golfing life. It'd be pretty hard to top that. I mean, we got, we got into town eight days before we played, it started on Saturday. We played Pebble on Monday. And then Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, we were at Cyprus pretty much all day from Sunro's. rise to sundown. I probably shouldn't say this on air, but I played the back nine at Cyprus in a golf cart with a speaker playing music about as lot as I could, which I don't think anyone else

has done that. And hopefully I don't get in trouble. Yeah, hopefully he took your picture. I hope you enjoyed it. No, you'll be fine. Walker Cups different. And you got PV tomorrow, right? You going Pine Valley tomorrow, first time?

you're getting ready for Instaubla's and now it's like, you look at the horizon and it's like, oh, PJ Tour going out, just how quickly it's all happened as it, like, resonated with you, how rare that is? Definitely not. We were, we were sitting last week in Omaha and Scottie Mack, my caddy was like what tournaments are excited to play in next year. And I hadn't even looked at it. But then, you know, we realized maybe we could play maybe in, like, probably.

Beach Pro Am or waste management and that was pretty cool reminder. Like that could definitely be real life next year. Yeah. I mean, it's definitely going to be real life. I was going to ask you which one you're most looking forward to, but those two at the top of the list? Yeah, I mean, waste management seems like the coolest event ever. Yeah.

That loud speaker, go ahead and get ready. Play more with that because that's what it's going to be like. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, I don't think I don't think anything can prepare you for that 16th hole. And at the Walker Cup, just going back to that, you were paired with Jackson Coyven, right? Yeah, I was. We were paired together for alternate shots. What's it?

Like, for people that haven't seen his game up close and personal, obviously, winning already. And what he did in his college career, it was just historic. But playing alongside him, what was it like for you watching the best in the world at the time go about his business? I mean, you can't really ask for a much better partner to have. It was pretty easy. He took the first T-shot, too, on Saturday. We were the first match out. He took the first T-shot, handled it, like, you know, the boss that he is.

And I think I've got knifed a wedge over the green off the top slope on number one at Cyprus. Good spot back there. Yeah, yeah. He seemed comfortable. I didn't feel too comfortable. But, no, he's pretty amazing partner having me. He does everything really well. Cyprus, especially with how far guys are hitting.

And now, there's a lot of wedges, a lot of short irons. And putting. I mean, the putting's brutal. There's a lot of slope and fast greens. And I'd say he's one of the best on the planet with wedges and putting. So it's pretty easy week for me. Can we get a petition going to make the Walker Cup three days, please? I mean, it's ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more. I wish we started on Friday. I feel like three days would be perfect. It goes by so fast. Too fast. Too fast. We're going to make that happen. Sleeze, you're tight with the USJ.

you got Blades Brown coming up, Ben James, Michael Brennan, Thorby Ornston even just one. Like when you see these young guys, especially the ones you played with and against in college, having the success they're having on the,

at the pro level, do you think that like inspires the rest of you to like push and try to like keep up and always be one up in the next guy? Yeah, 100%. I think the young guys are so good and maybe it inspires to,

to the other younger guys, as much as it inspires, you know, the older guys that, I think they asked Zander about it a couple weeks ago, and Zander was like, I'd be lying if I said it didn't motivate me that, you know, Jackson Coyer just won on tour. So it's pretty amazing what the young guys are doing. It's not, it doesn't surprise me that much with how, you know, competitive college golf is. I mean, to go out there and do it, it's actually, you know, another, it's a different thing. But definitely inspired me, especially, you know, watching Frankie shoot 59 the other day and win. Jackson made the playoffs

only playing what four or five events on tour that's pretty impressive I think the only other got to do that was Tiger so it's a pretty good company but yeah it's super inspiring do you guys like keep up with each other to like rooting for each other on group texts or anything like that?

A little bit, it's probably a little more competitive now but I text with Jackson a little bit he's a good dude. You young guys got a lot of pressure on you though because going into the Masters next year there will not be one major champion in his 20s. Really? Yeah.

Colin Morikawa turns 30 in February. So every major championship champion winner on the planet is at least 30 years of age. So y'all got to get one for the young guys. It wouldn't surprise me if a younger guy got it. Yeah. Good chance.

There's a lot of them out there. Speaking of all the success you've had, it's come with some nice cash as well. Have you treated yourself to anything? No. I mean, I've got to upgrade my flights or my seat on the plane pretty much every time just with my light.

I don't really fit on a normal seat. So upgrading to first class has maybe been a little bit easier. But I don't know. I've been definitely trying to find something to indulge on. But I don't really have too much. What's it like as a 6 foot 9, dude, when you're coming down the aisle and you're in 32A and B and C are already filled up and they're looking at you like, please not. Please not.

Yeah, exactly. I feel bad for anyone. I mean, especially when, you know, it wasn't really upgrade. my seats and you get the middle seat. I'm like, I'm sorry, guys. I'm sorry, guys. I'm for that. Yeah. Yeah. I'm out on that. It's the plane's fault.

Your fault. What's the bastards? Other than golf, like when you got this week off, like what do you like to do outside of golf for some fun? Pretty much nothing. I'm sitting on the beach. Nothing. Not too much.

But, I mean, we played a ton of pickleball in college. Scotty helped us out. He put in a pickleball court, basically right under our driving range. That's incredible. When the weather was good, there was basically no practice going on. We were just walking down with the pickleball court. And it's in like a little shaded area too.

So it was pretty money. But I definitely got to get back into more of it. I've got some buddies in Dallas. So try and get back in the pickleball. But no, I mean, when I'm not on the golf course, I kind of like to chill. I feel like golf consumes a lot of what we do on a daily basis. So try and just get away. I love that.

Scottie, what did you do for? Texas, I built him a pickleball court. That's so sick. It's so sick. It's also like the death of like the former guy who thinks they're athlete. Like it's just an injury graveyard. I know. I got to find a picture of it too because there's this massive like

stone wall that if you, you know, if you hit a nice like whatever it's called a dink or something or sat to the side of the court, like you could easily run into this stone wall and it's a disaster way to happen. Try and find a picture. But yeah.

That was pretty fun of him to put that in for us. That's great. Scottie's out for the Masters. Pickleball. Scott is freaking good by that. I know. How does your game stack up with Scott? I've seen a few clips of him,

played that celebrity deal. Yeah. I don't think it stacks up at all. I think he's pretty good, right? Yeah. Yeah. No, he can play. Yeah, I mean, we had some guys on the college team, too.

This guy, Eduardo, Derbez, Torres from Mexico was on the team. He was amazing. I mean, I'm not the quickest guy on the court either, and they were pretty quick. Yeah, but you cover a lot of wings. Hard to lob you, I bet. Yeah, the wingspan definitely helped. But I was not running around very much.

Yeah, you and Scotty, lob free zone. No running and no jumping. That's a great way to do virtually everything. What's your, I've seen the pictures on Instagram. You got the whole gear, the chaps, everything. What's your UT football fandom? Like, where do you rank on the scale? I mean, I'm a big fan.

But yeah, we've got the chaps. Those are fun. I mean, that's not very fun on a full, you know, 2.30 kickoff game when it's 110 in Austin. But, yeah, I'm a big fan. I mean, I'm a big believer. I think we should be pretty good this year. Yeah. Should be good every year.

you got all the UT athletes in there who's the biggest freak athlete you encountered while in austin this kid name this kid named leo was on the track team i forget his last name i know his instagram handle which is sad uh but he was a track athlete he's like six eight massive uh dude he was he was a freak in the gym but it was pretty funny in the gym you know the golf teams like in there doing their stretches at 6 a.m. and the track teams on the other side lifting heavy weight. I mean, they were like literally laughing at us when we were going down back and forth like this 40-yard piece of turf like they're sitting there laughing watching us warm up.

At least you were they knew you were supposed to be in there. They asked me if I was lost every time I walked in. The station is clean. And I was happy to leave by the way. I don't need to be here. That's great. All right. Next one here.

Let's see. You famously played the four ball. with Tony Romo several years ago. I need to know if Tony got a full year on the PJ tour, how many slow play fines would he get? I mean, I don't think he'd make it past three weeks on tour. Yeah.

Yeah, he is pretty slow. I think I know well enough to say it. But, I mean, I give him credit. He loves the game, like, as much as anyone I've ever met. It's pretty insane. He could get put on the clock as a single. I mean, it's just, oh. I mean, he'll know, like, just even getting ready for the round, like, all this stuff he has to go through to, like, get his back working and his leg, all the stuff.

I mean, it's like, I mean, it's a two-hour process to, like, get to the range. Yeah, we were walking down one at, uh, Kewa, I think where the four ball was at, and he's like hypervoting his leg walking down in the fairway. Mm-hmm. So, gets the bands out. Does some band work on the tee? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

All right. All right. I saw you were committed to Duke. before you move to Dallas, commit to Texas. Going back in time, if Duke was said, all right, Tommy, you come here and play golf, but we're also going to give you 10 minutes a game for the basketball team. Would you have stayed at Duke?

I mean, 10 minutes a game? Yeah, you think you get a bucket in 10 minutes? You want to get your ass with it? How much going to want 20 minutes? They got a lot of mop-up time at Duke. No chance I could ever get a bucket, nor could I survive the academic level at Duke. Oh, valid.

You call it 6-5-6-6-6 at 12 years old. You show up at junior tournaments. How many times did other parents ask to check your birth certificate? I was playing in the future Masters one time, which is a big junior event in Dothan, Alabama, and I was walking down the first fairway, and someone's dad came out to me and said there's no caddies allowed this week and I was like I'm not a caddy I'm a player but no who are you cadding for I was like I'm not I'm

playing like I'm playing this tournament he's like well what age division I'm like the 12 to 13 age division um so he wasn't happening that's great he was not happy he's like I'm I can't get from my son you can't either sir I'm 12 yeah I am the son yeah I am 12 that's good um all right Give me the favorite Texas sporting event you've attended while you were there. Ooh, we played, I mean, Texas OU the last three years has been hard to beat. I don't think OU scored a touchdown in the last three years. To have that in college was, that's pretty fun. Yeah.

Did you have to, like, develop your OU hatred being that you're not like, you didn't grow up, you know, hating them? Or did that just come quickly? We definitely had to develop it a little bit. I mean, I wasn't really, we weren't really Texas fans at all until I moved to Dallas. But I'd say the hatred grew pretty quick, especially when you're going to, you know, the Cotton Bowl every year. And they're not scoring touchdowns.

And one half of the stadium is burn orange. And the other half in the fourth quarter, there's nobody in the stadium anymore. That's pretty fun. Yeah, you had a good run for that one. It's a shithole stadium, but it's an incredible atmosphere. Yes, especially when you're on the winning side. There is no chance you can sit in one of those seats, by the way. my knees hit the chair in front of you.

Yeah, my knees are going into the, you know, the back of someone. Yeah, you have to stand up the whole time there. It's the hottest place in the world also. Just jammed in the kickoff. Yeah. All right, last one for me, true or false? Sunday night, Walker Cup party. You were the MVP.

He's been playing phenomenal all year long. Give me Sam Burns finally picking one up. I like that. I like Sam Burns. I thought you're going to go with Gary. By the way, I got to share a Gary. text with you real quick after I tell you that I think Patrick Cantley is going to win the Tour Championship this week.

Finish second last week, birdie the last three holes. But I thought you would be a little more excited to talk about the top of Gary Woodland. I spaced it. That's one of the highlight of my week, all of it. Got the top three, I told you, it's like I've been saying, welcome to the club, Gary. If you haven't done it, you haven't played enough. You haven't played real golf. So it was unbelievable.

I mean, he was one shot off the lead, playing great, just dead top. It's 144 mile an hour top, by the way. Ends up going in a creek. And Nance, it's just like, we've been coming here quite a few times. They've had a lot of big events here. No one has ever hit it in that creek right there. And it was awesome that Gary went on to play really well, book his ticket to East Lake. But I had some buddies text me, like, how long until you'll give Gary some shit about the top?

Like, will you wait a few days? I'm like, I started typing this as soon as he signed his scorecard. I wrote to our good friend, Gary. Great playing. See you in Atlanta. also just wanted to let you know that I called Mark Long, who does the yardage book, told him it's bullshit that he didn't have a carry number on that creek on nine. He will not make that mistake going forward.

Yeah, what am I just supposed to eyeball it? It's got to be at least 110, 115 over that thing. It is 102. And Gary's response, he goes, I kind of got screwed. I can't believe my ball didn't go across the bridge. Yeah, I didn't see it live. I had to catch it on Instagram. I watched it 17 times in a row and just giggled over and over.

He's not getting the launch off of that three wood that I feel. like you should. God, it was hilarious. As, as Randy Smith calls it, that was just a whoops. But he played great, man, finished tie for fifth, punched his ticket to East Lake. It's going to be awesome to see him in Atlanta. First time since 2019. Dude, as much as we love to give Gary shit and he's a friend of ours and stuff, what he's done this year has been cool. I don't know. In a world of golf where everyone has differing opinions on everything, everyone loving Gary Woodland might be the only thing that we can all agree on. It's been a really rewarding year to watch everything he's gone through and where he is now.
