All right, here we go. Welcome back to another episode of Golf Subpar. Colt Nost and Drew Stoltrae.
To recap the 150 second open championship where Xander Shafley does it again, picks up his second major title of the season.
But before we get going, Sleeves, got to give a big shout out to Roeback and their sponsorship.
The best polos, hoodies, shorts, they do it all. I got the polo on right now, right now, by the way.
115 degrees outside, no problem out there. No gut sweat for the big boys.
They are the best polos on the market. Their everyday shorts are also probably.
Whether you're looking to golf with a shirt untucked or just wear for a day on the move,
they look clean but use the comfort of an elastic waistband.
You want hoodies, shorts, pillows, whatever you want.
We got it all at Roeback.
Go to Roeback.com.
That's R-H-O-B-A-C-K dot com and use code sub for 20% off.
That's just SUV at Roeback.
20% off all polos, hoodies, and crews with code sub.
Make sure to check out now that it's summer and they'll have you ready for whatever travels or activities you have
awaiting for you.
So, Lace, let's get to it.
Zander Shoplae.
I mean, we've been waiting on this guy to break out.
He was 0 for 27 in major championships to start out.
Now he's won two of his last three.
The guy is a stud.
He has no weaknesses.
It is awesome to see what Zander Shoplai is doing right now.
Yeah, I mean, if you would have told us a few months ago, like,
hey, there might be a debate for who's going to be the player of the year on the PGA tour.
I think we'd have been like, you're full of shit.
Like, Scotty could not play the rest of the year.
And he's going to get it.
And now, dude, like, you know, the years are different, but like, it depends on which side you're on.
I mean, you look at their years, Zander, two wins, two major championships.
Top 10 in all four, by the way.
I think his worst finish was like eight or seventh.
Zero miscuts, and he's finished outside the top 20 one time this season.
You go to Scotty, you got six wins, and you got one major.
You got some signature events in there.
Zero miscuts, top 10 and three of the four majors,
and only one finish outside the top 20 all year, that being the U.S. Open.
I mean, the two years are a joke, but, like, I think it's a legit debate,
even though it's two versus six.
Like, majors are everything, in my opinion.
That's the way you're judged at the end of your career.
It'd be interesting to ask Scotty, which season he would rather have.
The two wins being both majors are what he has done.
He has one of the players.
And like you said, he's dominated the signature events,
which are the best fields on the PGA tour.
I'll be on, I'll take either of them.
I'll be happy with either season.
There's no, but what do you think, Scotty would say,
I'm going to go on a limb, this could be totally wrong.
And he might, he could dispute this or say,
that's false.
I think Scottie would rather have two majors added to his resume and one.
I think these guys are both in the multiple major winner category now.
And at the end of the day, I feel like that's how you compare greatness.
Like how many majors did he win?
Like the win, total wins isn't really as big of a factor.
No, I get it.
I think knowing Scotty and how competitive it is, he wants as many wins as possible.
He did win the players as well.
I mean, you throw that in there with Bay Hill, Travelers, Memorial.
I mean, he wants some monster tournaments.
He's going out there and beating the best fields six times this year.
And he's got a second green jacket.
I don't know.
I honestly don't know really what he would say.
It'd be interesting to ask him, but both guys.
I mean, there's no doubt who the best two players in the world are.
Right now, I mean, you can throw Bryson up there as well.
I know he didn't have the open championship he wanted, which I kind of said.
I wasn't surprised.
I don't think the windy conditions and Link's golf really suits his style of play.
But Zandr Shelfly, I mean, we were talking about.
about before the show. The way that leaderboard was, I was like, man, this could be an all-time
finish. Like someone's going to, I said last night to some friends, I said, someone's going to go out and
shoot 65 and win this golf tournament. I thought it was going to be Scotty Shefflin.
I forgot about the other guy who was actually the betting favorite going into the round today.
He was plus 350. Scottie was plus 360. Zander Schofield goes out and just tore apart that
fact nine. That is ridiculous. I believe the average score was two over par on the back nine.
He went out there and shot 31.
four under i mean bogey free 65 it's kind of a cliche thing to say but like he makes it look really easy
like and he never gets high never gets low it's just flatline the entire time but like he's hitting shots like
oh nobody's birded this hole all day today it's it to two feet you know like he just he makes the hard
look it makes it difficult look very easy a lot like i would say you know ludwig kind of does the
same thing but man i thought as impressive as his round was today colt that 65 bogey free
final round to win a major championship.
I thought the Saturday 69
might be even more impressive
given like those conditions, those late in the day
guys, which Zander was still pretty late at
that point. I mean, dude, that thing was
that Saturday was maybe the most fun I've had
watching golf gold all year.
Like we got three woods into par
fours. We got dog being hit
into par three's, bogeys everywhere.
And I was like, dude, these guys are
so good. It's fun to see them
really challenged and struggle
once in a while. It doesn't happen very often.
And I thought Saturday was spectacular viewing.
The driver from 238 part three was just, I was like, welcome to my world, guys.
I love this.
And by the way, if they're hitting driver, that means I couldn't get there if I was playing.
And the weather was obviously a huge story.
The guys that went early, late, got pretty much host.
I mean, it was over two and a half shots different between the two waves.
But that's what happens at the Open Championship.
You got to get on the right side of the draw.
And obviously, but it all equaled out.
because everybody that played early that struggled Thursday Friday that went out early,
there was a lot of good scores shot.
I mean, Sam Burns was seven over par through 11 holes in this tournament.
And then all of a sudden, after Saturday, he's 300 and he's one off the lead.
Like, he probably thought his tournament was over come Thursday.
And I know he shot 80 in the final round, but he had a chance to win.
I mean, he's right there after being seven over par through 11 after that brilliant 65 on Saturday.
Yeah, there was some good round.
I mean, Bobby McIntyre kind of had a crazy roller coaster.
Oh, my God.
was out of it and then played his way back into it.
Joaquin Neiman kind of the opposite,
cruising along, looking great,
then whoopsies makes a little oach piece on a par three.
But it's fine of that watching this championship,
especially in these elements.
We got like real proper, you know,
British open conditions in this thing.
It's so fun to see the shop making and the club selections.
Like watching Scotty on Saturday, dude,
hit these two irons that looked like they were getting head high,
but they were flying, you know,
he had 2.30 in, but it was playing 2.5.
five, like some of these shots, it was so fun to watch that because it's so different than just the cookie cutter kind of rinse, repeat stuff we get so often over here on the PJ tour.
I loved it.
I think that also shows you, like, how complete of a player, Xander Shafley is, because he won the shootout at Bell Hall where you had to go crazy low.
And then you get all the conditions over here in an Open Championship, and he goes out and he handles those as well.
So, I mean, there's not a place that Zander Shafley can't win.
he is built for all types of golf.
I mean, we talked about, like, who's going to challenge Scotty Schaeffler.
A lot of people say Ludwig was next in line, obviously, when Rory, when he was going, Bryson.
Zana Schaoff play kind of, I feel like gets overlooked quite a bit because he's kind of a quiet guy.
He's not that flashy, but when you watch him play golf, like, naming something he's not extremely good at.
Yeah, there ain't one.
And like you mentioned, he wins the shootout at Val Hall.
He can hit it hard.
He goes and wins like a shot maker's kind of, you know, avoid disaster, I would call this Open Championship.
It was hard to get around that place without making some big numbers.
Like he does it all.
It's awesome to see because for a number of years,
he's been one of the best players in the world.
But he does it without winning very often, like the other guys, right?
But he's there all the time.
He go look at his major championships and just his track record the last few years
in big events.
It's like he's always there, but he's never really gotten the credit for that
because he hasn't won the big one.
And now he's doing it and he's done it twice in a year.
and I mean, the confidence level for him right now, man.
Like, it could have been easy for him to finally get that first major at the PGA Colton be like, great year.
Not that he's packing it in, but like, look, dude, I'm going to enjoy this.
You know what I mean?
Maybe not have the same grind.
And he's gone out there and done another one.
And I mean, shit, he's still got FedEx Cup playoffs.
You don't want to be starting two back of Scotty probably.
Yeah.
I mean, but now, like you said earlier about player of the year, but now there's a chance.
I mean, he's got to play extremely well, which I don't think he's.
playing on the PJ tour until the playoffs so he will go in as number two but how about those two
it's going to be them in the last pairing at east lake i would imagine depending on what happens
in the first year on the plus but those two battling it out that's going to be fun to watch in the
playoffs on at a place where zander eats i mean they did just redo it yeah i don't they redid it
they changed them too but it's it's still going to be east lake you know with a few tweaks to it
and he's been a monster around that place and i truly let's just say it's just saying it's
it stays this way throughout the playoffs.
I think whoever wins FedEx Cup playoffs,
is probably your player of the year.
You know, the players vote.
Yeah, the players vote,
and I would say if it happened right now,
I think it would be really close.
Like, I think it would probably be a 50-50 split
on who they vote for.
I mean, you know, you were talking about
what would Scotty rather have?
I think if you asked a lot of the guys out there,
especially guys who've already won a major championship,
they're already there, right?
Like, dude, just give me as many of those.
I would never win a regular event ever again
if it meant I could win more major championships.
I think that's ultimately what it all comes down to.
But this, not just the six wins,
quote, but like the places you mentioned where he's doing it.
Kind of like, damn, dude.
The guy wins six times, including a major,
and he doesn't get player in the year?
Like, it's tough.
It's, you're splitting hairs with these two,
but they've separated themselves fully
from everybody else in the world.
Yeah, but congrats isander.
Austin Kaiser, the whole team.
It's so cool to have his mom and dad over there.
His dad, the big fellow, the ogre,
was rather emotional when Zander walked off the 18th dream.
That was awesome to see.
But I love those guys.
Man, I'm so happy for him.
Might have to get Zander came on after he won the PGA,
led to an open championship.
Might have to have him one again.
And he might be your FedEx Cup champion.
We'll see.
But, man, that was a lot of fun to watch.
Got to ask you a little bit about Rory and Tiger, though.
Yeah, let's go to some Miscut guys.
Yeah.
Rory, Tiger, I was, I think, like a lot of people,
was very high on Rory going into the week.
I thought he was going to be, you know,
determined to go out there and get a major
championship and he just didn't have he really struggled i was shocked when i woke up
thursday morning and to see where he was on the leaderboard and then friday afternoon was brutal
i mean everybody struggled the the starts the guys were getting off to you mentioned
robert mackett i was like nine over through four rory was a lot over before mega come yeah
uh they were done shout out to the goat justin ray who i believe took the time to go
worst ball for the entire field on friday was 128 i threw a little tweet out
there because I was with Riggs from Barstool at dinner.
I was like, you think you could break 128 in those conditions?
And I threw it together.
People are so damn mean to him.
It is unbelievable.
Like, we like to joke with him.
But the things people were saying, I'm like, oh, my God, I was just having a little fun,
little, throwing a little fun question out there.
And people were just ripping the guy apart.
But 128, where's Paul?
His putting stroke videos, I mean, just, just, I'm like, I think at this point,
it's like, I'm just going to throw it out there.
I feel like he's trying to make it even, like, more exaggerated than it is,
just to see what the response.
Yeah, you're right.
Like, he gets crushed on there.
Shout out to him.
128.
That'd be a good.
That'd be a fun way to watch because there's some big, big numbers put up on the board.
And I don't care who you are, by the way.
But, yeah, getting back to Rory, like, I still think, I know he played pretty decent at the Scottish before.
But I just think that U.S. Open just gutted him, dude.
You took the time off, changed phones, kind of went off the grid.
Just kind of changed the way he talked.
Like, look, I'm going to try to enjoy my success a little bit more.
and then after, you know, his interview was like, once I made the eight, like, dude, I was like, I was playing on my vacation for next week.
I think that thing just sucked the life out of him, that U.S. Open.
Not horribly surprised that Rory didn't play well.
The guy that I'm the most surprised Colt didn't play well was Ludwig.
I was very, very high.
I think a ton of people on him.
Great play.
The Scottish just doesn't seem to do anything wrong.
The harder it gets, I think the more I like him.
And just he got caught up.
And what happens at the Open Championship with a lot of guys.
To be fair, it was his first ever open championship, and I know it's golf at the end of the day, but it is a different style of golf.
But yeah, I was with you. I was surprised he struggled like he did.
Tiger, we get so excited every time he teased it up.
I get it. It's just like it's really hard to compete.
And I'm not making excuses, but when you play just as little as he does, like he has no competitive reps.
Playing at home is a totally different thing.
Then you throw these conditions, which not many people are used to playing in.
I wasn't surprised to see Tiger struggle, honestly.
I mean, there was a reason I think he was like minus 150 to miss the cut.
I'd be surprised if Tiger, like you look at his last like 12 starts.
It's like there's one made cut, you know, a bunch of MCs, some WDs.
It's like, dude, at this point, I don't care how big of a fan you are of Tiger.
Like, I want him to play well more than anybody.
But if he plays well, I think it's like a surprise at this point because he plays four times the year
and he plays the hardest setups in golf.
There's no tweaking.
It's just like, hey, oh, you haven't played in forever?
Here's the hardest shit you'll see all year long.
All right, now take another month off and we'll run it back and do it again and do it again.
It's just there's no way.
And on top of that, his body feels like trash, I'm sure, the entire time, especially when it's freezing and raining playing out there.
So there's just expectations are low.
I think we just enjoy them, enjoy them while we got them because I don't know how long it'll go.
But some of the other names called, I thought some of the miscuts were as big as, you know, the stories at the top of the leaderboard.
We mentioned Ludwig.
Tyrol Hatten, Tommy Fleetwood would have been a guy that I think was super popular.
That was my guy.
This week, Wyndham, shot a million, Rory, Fienau, Cam Smith.
I mean, there was a lot of big names that packed it up on Friday.
Ten of the top 20 in the world missed the cut.
I know the world rankings are a little jacked up, but still,
10 of the best players in the world who you think have a chance to win the open
championship, went in there in MC.
It was pretty shocking.
Obviously, the weather had a lot to do with that.
We mentioned over two and a half shots difference between the two waves.
But it was fun, man.
I love waking up early and watching it.
Shout out to our friends over at Woop.
I'm rocking the Woop again.
And Riggs and I played, well, today I'll be, you know, we're at the Trush Tree here.
We like to share everything out there.
We watched the Open Championship yesterday.
Went out, played golf at 2.45.
We had an eight ball at Greyhawk.
We had four two-man teams.
Me and Riggs were teammates.
We dominated.
He actually played well.
I'm going to give him some great.
He shot 77 at Greyhawk, which is pretty good for him.
Yeah.
But then we proceeded to have a new team.
evening sleeves and I'm on 7% recovery today.
Yeah, that's, um, you get all the data in there, but what it does to my mental,
I don't know.
Yeah.
That I can recover from it.
When I look down and I see that single digit, I'm like, how am I even, I'm supposed to operate
today at any capacity?
Look at me.
I'm at 4%.
Yeah.
It says required sleep.
I think it says I need 22 hours to get back to normal.
You and Natalie are the only two people I know that can, can do that.
I can't put in that kind of session.
But I'm going to battle through it.
I'm flying up to Pennsylvania today for a little BMW day tomorrow.
So I'm going to get rested up and be ready to rock tomorrow.
But had a lot of fun.
I mean, an eight ball in the summer, there was nobody on the golf course.
We had a blast.
Yeah, that's beautiful.
You can do that.
I mean, there's courses in Arizona right now.
I think that'll pay you to come out.
Hey, you want to play our course.
Come out.
It wasn't an eight ball.
There's eight people playing golf.
We did not have an eighth ball.
It was eight people.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I want to clear that.
Your whoop would be reading a lot different.
Yeah, but who would be read a lot different.
If it was an actual eight ball.
I guess the summit all,
I do it's crazy that major season's over,
which sucks, by the way.
I mean,
we got playoffs to look forward to.
Presby Cup,
which isn't the Ryder Cup.
And quite frankly,
if the U.S. doesn't destroy them,
I'll be very surprised.
And we end the year, Colt.
I mean,
would you not be shocked if the U.S.
didn't run away with that thing,
just based on how much,
A, the history of it,
and B, how much talent they've lost to live on the international side?
I mean, they got decimated.
They should be a massive favorite.
Yeah.
But it is golf.
It's on foreign soil, I guess, but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised.
That's why it's like, I love the President's Cup,
but it's just hard to get us fired up for it compared to like the Rider Cup
because you know the Ryder Cup is going to be so competitive.
Yeah, and it's a rivalry.
And we lose often, which makes you want even more.
The President's Cup has been a long time.
But we end the year, Colt, American Sweep.
in the major.
Yeah.
Seven in a row.
Dix kicked in the dirt over there at the Ryder Cup.
We'd go ahead and then clip off all four this year.
I don't know what that means going forward,
but we got some pretty damn good.
If you got Scotty and Zander on your team,
you got a good chance of winning them all.
Yeah, I mean, Luke Donald, who did an awesome job
in the broadcast booth this week, was like,
we got our hands full heading up to New York.
These boys are played some really good golf.
But it's cool to see Americans sweep.
It was an awesome major championship year.
I can't wait for the playoffs to get going.
And then, dude, we're like 42 days away from the start of the NFL season.
I know.
That's what's coming.
And we're starting to get like some football content coming out.
I'm watching that receivers right now on Netflix, which is great.
You got heart knocks coming.
We're getting, you know, SEC just had their media days, Big 12.
Like it's, we're getting close.
You can almost start to feel it.
Nick Sabin, you're a member of the media now.
So you're scum.
Where are your credentials?
Yeah, where are your credentials?
Nick.
It's no longer coach.
Just Nick.
No, just Nick.
Media member, Nick.
You retired.

is our guest this week gino venelli the caddy for joel damon also sacks underwear model the man
does it all he's hilarious this one was a lot of fun sleaze yeah i mean watch netflix you got to know
gino and joel if you didn't know them before like if you look at those two guys and don't root for
them and there's something wrong with it because they're about as easy a duo to root for in
the world and the cool i think about them i think on the netflix like that's genuine like that's how they
really are. That's not an act. That's not I am putting on for the camera. Like, that's how,
that's genuinely how they are. And they're a breath of fresh air in the world of pro golf that
can get a little uptight at times. Yep. I love them both. Let's get to it. Here's Gino
Benelli on subpar. Okay, folks, we have one of the most electric guys in all of golf with us today.
Currently, Saxo underwear supermodel and caddy for Joel Damon out on tour, formerly world-class
Archer and college mascot for the Idaho Vandals.
The great Gino Benelli is back.
Gino, a pleasure.
Thank you, boys, for having me.
Yes, underwear model is not something I've ever thought would be on the resume,
but here we are.
I'd say, but what, that little pouch for you 40-year-olds?
That's going to come in rather handy.
So special thanks to Sacks for that pouch.
Yes, thank you, Sacks, because it makes things look way better than they actually are.
Geno, I just recently joined you in the 40-year-old club, and as you know, you get 40,
then things start dropping a little bit, you know what I mean?
So you need a protective, that little pouch in there is big for us, 40-year-olds.
That patented ballpark pouch, baby.
That's nice.
The first time I put them on, I was like, oh, hello, this is nice.
Yeah, it's like a little nest.
It's like a little nest for your boys, you know what I mean?
It's nice.
Tell us, because, Sleez, you're like four days in of being 40.
Gino, you turned 40 this year.
How's the body feeling at 40 years old guy?
That's so funny, you ask.
So today on the putting green, we had an early tea time.
It's kind of cold up here in Truckee because we're not at the other place playing the
Barakuta Championship this weekend.
It's 43 degrees this morning, and the body was a little tight.
And I bent over on the putting green before we played this morning to pick up my water bottle.
And I felt something like pop in my back.
and I almost pissed my pants.
It hurt so bad.
And I stood up and Joel saw the look in my eyes.
And he was like, are you okay?
And I was like, I don't think I can move.
And the more I stood up and stretched it out, like the worse it felt.
But thankfully, ibuprofen was within arm's reach.
And I took 800 milligrams quickly and started doing some stretching stuff there on the driving range at seven of course.
o'clock this morning and thankfully made it around and then when I got back my daughter
wanted me to hold her she's a three-year-old and I picked her up and I felt that little twinge again
so the body at 40 is uh is definitely breaking down slays how we feel it's yeah I'm dying too dude
I'm dying I've never had an injury I've never had a physical ailment no nothing and then
last year my eyes like completely broke down I had to get eye surgery now my back is like a daily
thing like same exact shit as you said it's like i think it's we're getting old and the like lifting
of your kids and throwing them and like i was throwing my daughter in the pool the other day
and after like 10 of them she wants to just keep going i was like i literally don't think i'm
going to be able to walk tomorrow so we got to shut this down it's uh it's brutal but uh i guess
it's just part of it that's a sacrifice you make for being so good looking there sleaze yeah
you know we all have our cross to bear you know that's right can i can't a quick
question, Cole, before we get going here for Gino, because I'm sure we'll get into it.
You're traveling, you know, escapades and your venues that you like to stay.
That looks like a very nice headboard behind your head right now.
We're at the, it's, uh, I don't know if I'd go nice.
We're at the Atlantis Casino in Reno, Nevada.
It was maybe the cheaper option within 60 miles of the golf course.
I'd show you the room right now, but my daughter literally dumped out a box of
nerds, remember nerds?
Oh, yeah.
And then stepped on them and crushed him into the carpet and then proceeded to start
eating them.
So we've got pretzels and nerds.
It looks like a bomb went off in here.
And this is, I mean, it's okay.
It's the first one I've actually paid for in quite some time.
All right, all right.
Yeah, you had the van.
Yeah, you had the van, which we're going to talk about.
Van life for the last few weeks.
And let's get into it because I want to know how this whole van thing came about because we had Aaron Fleener on recently, fellow Sachs underwear model.
And he was saying how he had a two-bedroom suite at the John Deere offered it to you and you're like, nope, I'm staying with the van.
I was pot committed with the van.
No, it's the company Dave and Matt's vans are based out of Denver.
We've been trying to do something for a couple years.
They got a hold of me on social media a couple years ago and proposed the idea of me kind of living in it.
and documenting my adventures for a couple weeks.
And we've been trying to do, figure out what two consecutive weeks would work.
And I didn't know if those two between Detroit and John Deere were going to be an option,
just because it's so hot and I thought I might bake in the van.
But I just decided to roll with it.
It does have an AC in there.
It turned out to be absolutely perfect.
I'm so glad he did it.
they drove it out, met me in Detroit.
The owner basically flipped me the keys to the van, gave me a quick tutorial and said,
have fun.
And Detroit is one of those cities that you probably don't want to be just living in a van.
You need to be very careful about where you park that thing.
I've been to Afghanistan and Iraq and all sorts of fun places,
and Detroit might be the scariest place I've ever been.
So where did you park it?
thankfully another caddy Danny stout is his name his in-laws have a beautiful house about 20 minutes from the golf course with a little side path along their house and I was able to pull it up alongside their place and plug it in and I had AC and cell phone service so everything was great there what about a shower I did not have a shower in the van however they let me come in every
night and use theirs. So it worked out okay. And then once I made it over to John Deere, I was
bumming showers from caddies all week. I'm like, hey man, what are you doing this afternoon?
Oh, nothing. Can I borrow your shower? Very random, but that's what I ended up doing. But I,
it was super comfortable. I honestly enjoyed it. And I committed to making the content for social
media, so I couldn't flake out and go bunk up with Fleener. That's fair. And I'm
I'll be honest, dude, like watching your, you know, your social and you document some of the places you stay.
Like, that van was, that's on the top end of niceness in places you used.
You got, like, running water in there and all kinds of shit.
Yeah, it was really nice.
Every morning I wake up and, you know, brush my teeth.
And it was weird because I almost didn't know what to do.
I'd get up and I was ready to go instantly.
You know, I'd shower at night and have the AC running all night.
I woke up.
It's not like I was sweaty and needed to.
I brush my teeth and put on my clothes.
And I'm like, I guess we're going to the golf course now.
So it was very convenient.
I love it.
Well, I want to talk a little more about the Sacks underwear because I have a feeling when they reached out.
You had to be one of the guys.
It was like, yep, I'm in.
I have no shame in doing this.
Yeah, I'm just goofy enough that that's right up my alley.
In fact, our very first photo shoot that we did like the commercial filming,
we had a full day of it.
and between takes, are you going to put on your pants?
I'm like, why?
I'm just going to take them off again here in a few minutes.
So I just walked around the different sets and just my underwear all day,
and I think finally everyone was like,
I guess this is just what we're doing now,
just walk around in our underwear.
And they've got, they call them modesty cups.
I don't know if Fleener talked about the modesty cups that, you know,
you put over your stuff.
Yeah, he brought it up.
John Ellis conveniently did not.
Ellis made it sound like it was freezing cold and, you know, the piece isn't quite what it's used and, you know, what it normally is.
And he just completely left out the cup thing.
Yeah, no, I was very thankful for the cup.
I'm like, yeah, let's bring that cup.
I was like, how big can we go with this thing?
No, they actually gave us two.
One, one is completely smooth on the outside and the other actually had a penis imprint on the outside of the cup.
So we had the penis imprint on the outside, and I was like, well, I want this to look real.
So I put the penis imprint one on, and I walked out.
And one of the producer gals is like, no, you got to put the smooth one on.
I was like, oh, you're doing it.
No one's going to believe that.
Yeah.
So I had to go back in and change that out.
But it was a great fit.
We've had so much fun with it.
Just such a good group of caddies.
and the SACS staff as well has been incredible to work with.
They spoil us and take care of us.
And not only that, but the product is truly awesome.
So we've been very fortunate.
Yeah, and, you know, like part of the reason why the sacks come up,
the deal that you had with the van, right,
and you're documenting, you're staying and things,
because, like, things have changed since the last time we had you on.
You're on Netflix.
You're featured.
I feel like yours and Joel's popularity blew up.
How are you adapting to life as a golf celebrity?
It's unique being, well, the golf world is such a small world.
Like all golfers know each other.
So I know when I see somebody in like golf, my wife and I call them golfy clothes,
like if we're on the road together or somewhere and you see somebody, you know,
just from their appearance, plays golf.
And I'm like, ooh, that person's going to probably recognize me.
That sounds really dushy to say.
But for them to come out of their way and want to get a picture or an autograph,
it's kind of crazy because I don't feel like I've done anything to deserve that
other than be best friends with somebody who's really good at golf,
that being Joel, obviously.
But we've done some fun.
things over the years and let Netflix
follow us around for a couple
seasons that turned out really
good, I suppose.
Yeah, for sure, especially that first
season where, I mean, in my opinion, he
was the star of full swing
and he was playing some great golf,
but did you ever think, like, it was going to
lead to that? Or he, I mean,
when I was catty for Taylor Montgomery at Phoenix
this year, I mean, Joel was a goddamn rock star.
Place was going nuts over him.
Yes, he was. That was really fun,
by the way. Yeah,
Joel chipped that one in on eight, I believe it was.
Yeah, it was eight.
And the place went, that was one of the loudest roars I've ever heard.
And Phoenix this year was insane in itself.
But Joel has became a star in the game of golf.
This week for, I think, feel like he plays with the title sponsor CEO every week in the proams.
everyone wants to be around him.
He's just such a good dude and a normal person
who happens to be really good at hitting a golf ball.
I think I've said that a time or two along the way,
but it is true,
and Netflix just kind of added fuel to that.
So it's been awesome,
and for him to stay, you know, like this,
very level and humble is pretty cool.
So I definitely don't feel like I deserve the autographs and pictures and quote-unquote celebrity status, if you will.
But it is kind of fun.
But you'll take it by God.
Yeah, and you're right about Joel, dude.
Yeah, but I'll take it.
I don't think Joel knows any other way to be other than a humble kind of, like, he's appreciative.
I feel like I'm being on the PJ Tour, even though he was not given to him.
It was earned.
But this has clearly been a.
huge benefit for both you and Joel being on that show. Weren't you guys, like, hesitant at first
when they first approach you as to whether or not you wanted to do it?
Yeah, a little bit. Just as far as we didn't really have control of how we would be portrayed,
but then again, we talked about them, like, how else are they going to portray us? Because we're,
we don't, we might do dumb stuff, but it's not bad stuff, you know? We're not, we're good people.
were nice to one another and nice to fans and respectful and have manners.
And Joel not having an ego or ever really being a dick.
Like, this can only come across as good.
And so if they want to follow you around and film you, you're going to explode.
And he really has.
And it's pretty cool to see.
Yeah, guys like that, if they just show who they are.
I mean, I remember the first time he came on subpar.
I mean, this was well before Netflix.
And people are like, oh, my God, I'm a fan of this guy now.
Like he is, he's got personality, which, let's be honest, a lot of guys in the game of golf really don't.
So if you can just stand out a little bit, you're going to go a long ways.
But I got to ask because you're miced up at all times.
You're out there and you see the cameras and all this.
Has there any been a moment where you like forgot and you're like, oh, dear God, I can't believe I just said that and I'm miced up.
There are maybe a couple things we've said.
Or I remember one instance that I can't say what it was, but I was miced up and Joel was angry.
and he said something.
And I remember Netflix saying,
if you ever don't want anything
to be in the show,
just like go,
hey, Netflix, cut that.
And I think we're at the Players' Championship
and he was upset about something.
And I kind of jokingly go,
hey, Netflix, cut that.
Are you in a microphone right now?
I was like, yes.
That kind of made it.
He was like, are you kidding me?
But that was cut.
Everything was great.
I know I can't give any spoilers there.
But they were awesome about working with us on stuff like that.
Not that happens very often, but it does.
We're all human, right?
Of course.
Without a question.
So, like you said, I don't see how this could be anything but portrayed as good.
We just have to be the way that we are, right?
So when you watched it back for the first time, did you agree?
Like, did you like the way you were portrayed?
I did.
My mouth, the only complaint I had was my mouth is worse than I thought it was.
in fact the first time I watched the episode I was like I don't cuss that much and then I started paying attention to
the f-bombs that I use on the golf course and I was saying it way more than I thought I did I was like
oh it was pretty accurate actually so um I've got no problems I was at first I was like oh they
you know, put every F word I've ever said in season one.
But apparently I used it pretty often in my daily vocabulary.
Hey, you're only human.
I mean, that's how human stops.
I love to start to expand and use bigger words now.
Oh, perfect.
Brandl Shambly, here he comes.
Look out.
Please do.
God, Gina's going to have athosaurus out there in the golf bag.
I wish to fiddlesticks.
there you go.
That's a good one.
Let me ask you this.
Out of the two seasons, obviously, we've had some great players, some great caddies involved.
Who's somebody that hasn't been involved that you would like to see on the show?
Oh, from a player standpoint?
Player or, yeah, or, I mean, I guess if the player's on it, the caddy's going to be on it too.
Right.
That's a good call.
Boy, I haven't thought of that.
You know, somebody like a Mark Hubbard, I think would be so good because Mark is such an under-the-radar guy.
Like, unless you're a golf dork, you may not know who Mark is, but Mark just made like 19 cuts in a row and has had such a great year.
The one elevated event he got in, he finished fourth at Pebble.
And he's just hilarious and a good person and a good dad.
And he's just fun to be around.
He's one of my favorites.
So I think showcasing somebody like him.
And now his caddy, too, used to be a, you guys probably know him pretty well.
Matt Picconso who used to be a mini tour legend I hear
so following guys like that
there are a lot of good stories but
I think Mark would be up there and he's so intelligent
too he's a smart
guy and would come across really
good on camera I feel like so
I like that answer homeless
homeless would be awesome he's kind of like a Joel
Damon type I feel like I think he would kind of have a similar reception
the same way you guys did.
He hits the most unbelievable top driver
in the history of golf,
which is a really hard shot to hit, by the way.
Does he do that out?
So I mean, that's incredible.
I've got two quick stories.
We played a practice round with him
at Wingfoot in the U.S. Open, the year Bryson won.
And it was on Tuesday or Wednesday,
I forget which.
But they had the golf channel or NBC or CBS,
whoever had it,
had their whole set set up on like the 10th
T. And we knew that they were live because you could kind of tell that they're doing like live from the U.S. Open and they're filming.
And Mark's in the background and maybe Brandel or whoever's on set. And nobody knew he was going to do it. But Mark T's up this five iron and literally hits the top dimple and the thing goes about six feet. And I lost it.
And everybody in the group was just dying. And then he takes like two steps.
forward and then peers it into the middle of the green.
I'm like, that was definitely on live TV.
And then this year in Zoso in Japan,
he looked at me on number 10 with driver in his hand.
He had it teed up high like a normal driver,
and he goes, should I top this?
And, you know, all the fans there probably don't speak a lot of English
and nobody knew what was going on.
I was like, absolutely.
And he just nick the top of it and it just trickles off.
And then same thing.
He walks up and then just.
hits it off the deck right down the middle.
And I was just cracking up because it was so perfect that he's able to hit a six-foot driver.
That's awesome.
It's phenomenal.
It's unbelievable.
It's such a hard shot to hit.
Yeah, incredible.
So I love that guy.
He's pure entertainment.
He is.
He is great.
And, you know, over these episodes we've been doing with you guys over at Sacks,
we've come up with this idea because, listen, there's been some, these prime time matches we've had have been just,
duds, right? And we've talked about,
Sleaze and I came up with the idea, we need to do a player caddy one where the caddies are
involved. Would that be something you're up for? Because you've got some game.
Yeah. Yeah. I, uh, sometimes I do. Um, I played, Joel and I went out last Tuesday and
played in Lexington and we had, we played with Zach player and his catty actually had a great
time. I, I held my own. It felt like I played okay. But there's, there's getting to be a lot of
really good caddy players out there. Um, I think it would
be a really fun thing to watch. And it needs to happen. And I highly encourage like an $8 million
purse to. Yeah, exactly. You know, Gina, it's normal for charity. We're dead serious. We want to make
this thing go. Just get the right people like in it. And I think it would be the best version of anything
that they put out there. Yeah. So I thought the same thing. In last year at Colonial, I kind of took
the reins and set something like that up. We did it on the, at shady oaks on their little par three out
there. And I only had room for 18 teams. It was a player caddy. We did a scramble we played. So it wasn't
completely make the caddy irrelevant. It just played nine holes. But it was a lot of fun.
We had great turnout. And it was just a lot of work to do. But I think there's definitely the
demand for it. And I'd be open to doing something like that again.
Well, ours is going to be 12 holes.
a real golf course under the lights, alternate shot.
So get ready, you got to perform.
I love it.
When are we talking?
Are we talking Vegas or Phoenix?
Yes.
Good question.
Yeah.
Vegas feels appropriate.
And the 12 holes is optional, by the way.
Perfect.
Yeah, you just come to Vegas.
I'm all in.
I think that'd be a lot of fun.
That would be very, you and Joel, like, because it has to be player, you've got to be good
players, but also caddy has to be good players, but mostly it's about like the
personality.
Let's say you could put it together.
Who are the other, like,
like player caddy combos, we should highlight, do you think?
Or we should seek out.
Are we talking from a good playing standpoint or fun?
I think fun is more important, but I think they need to be able to at least go off a little bit otherwise.
Yeah, you can't.
In my opinion, you can't suck.
You know, one thing that just last year after this event, actually,
Eric Van Roy in a past champion of the Barracuda Championship here,
his caddy the following week goes in mondays into the 3m and they paired him together and i thought
that was pretty cool his caddy got through local qualifying for the u.s. open this year and almost
made it through sectionals um and he's uh he's a good fun guy in fact uh i don't know if i'm allowed to say
that i think netflix maybe he's following him around with some cameras this year it's not really
giving anything away but uh that'll be fun to see he's a they have a really
tight relationship similar to Joel and I.
So I think that is going to be a good thing.
Denny McCarthy's caddy Derek is probably the best player.
He's really good.
He loves Sleeze.
He loves Sleaze, you said?
Yeah, he loves Slease.
He does love Slease.
I don't even know what that comes from, but yeah.
He's the one who got mad at you.
For what?
we he brought
so he got brought up on one of our podcasts
oh it was me
I think I brought him up
it wasn't mad at me that was a group
we just asked it was a
like name the player
or name the caddy who's most likely to this ain't a meat
don't exclude you I thought he
I thought he came up to you and was like pissed about it
no he wasn't pissed he just came up with like
hey dude I don't want it to like you know
he kind of was like not defensive
but like he was like dude I don't feel like I am like that
and all this stuff I was like look we're just trying to have a good time
it's not anything
I think he very good mad at me.
I meant it as a compliment because he's really good at golf.
He is.
And obviously, Denny's a rock star and rolls it better than anyone on the planet.
So those guys would be a fun one to follow around as well.
But yeah, there's a lot.
I was talking to a European caddy this morning at breakfast
about setting up some possible caddy Rider Cup-type deal at players this year.
So I might spearhead that and make something happen.
I mean, if we actually did get this going to where it's like a primetime match
and there's only going to be four teams, like we could have a qualifier for this thing.
Yeah, it would be incredible.
Well, the problem is I'm worried I wouldn't make the team.
Captain's pick. I pick myself.
Yeah, there you go.
Yeah, we get sponsors exemptions.
Exactly.
We should figure that out.
There's definitely something that needs to be in the works for some caddy player tournaments for sure.
I agree. I agree with you on that. A little serious golf talk just for a second, because obviously, the golf world's been a mess lately.
Been very divided. But, you know, it's helping out a lot of people. The players are making more money. The caddies are making more money.
How have things been for you out there on the PGA tour with all this mess that's been going on?
You know, I mean, I love it. And I am totally fine with all of the purses that we're playing for.
It's the points in the qualifying that are so tough in trying to get, earn your way into that top 50.
year 70 from not being in the elevated events that almost feels look I know we didn't earn it last
year but those elevated events are so huge now it's almost an insurmountable mountain that you know
joe was jill's like oh we have to win the next two events to make the playoffs i'm like wait
what and i mean he's not wrong we're so far from that and we've had an okay season you know but
when you finish 10th place in an elevated event and get the same as, you know, third place in a regular event, I don't know what the exact matter.
It's a lot for those elevates.
And when the, when Memorial and Travelers and, I mean, those are great events, but when they're worse, I don't know, more than a major points wise, it's tough.
I'm interested to see like how many people that were in the top 70 or like the top 50 fall out of the top 70 because the top 50 is obviously that big number that gets you in everything.
but I want to see how many of the top 50 actually fall out of the top 70 and don't make the playoffs because I don't think there's going to be very many.
Yeah, I would agree with that.
Very few.
You're going to have a few that play their way in that just happen to bump some out.
But there's not going to be a lot.
I know there's been some guys that have had really down years, but you finish 30th in some of those elevators.
It's still a decent amount of points.
So it's tough to overcome and I don't know what the answer is.
I felt like it was going to be a one-year deal and I thought the tour might go,
ooh, we messed that up.
We're going to backpedal on that for next year going forward.
And I don't think that was the case at all.
So it kind of sucks.
But I mean, we still are playing for a lot of money, which is great.
but just the greediness of me and everyone else is like,
oh, we want more, give us more, I guess.
So I don't know.
I'm happy, though.
I think the solution would be like,
how about just make them do the exact same thing,
but make them full field.
Your top guys are still going to win.
They're still going to be your top guys,
but give a fighting chance of some of these guys like the year before.
Like, there were some great finishes on Sunday with guys
who wouldn't even be in the field, you know, this year.
Like, it stinks.
It feels like it's two tours now.
Mark Hubbard, Nick Taylor, like,
of stuff. Yeah, you're exactly right. Make them 100, even 120 man fields. Something. Yeah.
And that just feels so much more fair. The 72 man fields going forward with no cut,
or even if it's a cut to cut nine guys. I'm like, what are we doing here? Yeah, I'm with you. I hate it.
I hate the no cut events. 120 would be perfect. Truthfully, and I won't name any names,
but I've talked to a lot of top 10 guys that are like, this is so stupid. I can't believe we're doing
but I mean, it is what it is.
And obviously they show up and collect their paychecks.
Yeah, they love it.
It's going to be interesting to see what happens going forward.
There's no doubt.
In the meantime, just follow Ted Scott around and hope he drops some cash out on the ground.
Exactly right.
He's doing all right.
I texted him not long ago.
I was like, can I carry for you in any way?
I was like, I'll go park your car and do your laundry.
Just give me 2%.
Yeah, right.
No, that's awesome.
He's such a good guy and so good at his job.
And they're a steamroller, man.
I think Scotty's going to stay in that top 50 for next year probably, too.
So probably get to do it all over.
Yeah, he's going to just grease in there and get another year of those deals.
Yolly.
What a gig.
It was my wife the other day, we were talking about career earnings.
And she was like, where?
And I actually don't remember.
I think he might already be top 10 in his career.
earnings just in the few years he's played on tour, which is...
He's got 70 million.
I think he was like 11th last time.
I knew he was right there, which is...
We were talking about it a couple weeks ago.
I think it's John Deere.
If you took just basically, you know, just 10% of what Scott he's made this year.
So for Ted Scott, Ted Scott would be tied with Jordan Speeth on the money list this year
at number 50, I believe.
That's wild.
It's pretty good for Teddy.
I was, me and Tiger are probably pretty close.
Yeah, Tiger made the cut up the bastard.
You said, you told me a few years ago that Genevadilly and Tiger Words are going to make the same amount of money on tour.
I'd be, sign me up.
Hey, and guess what, though, he's still going to win the PIP.
That's right.
Yeah, you're right.
Hey, can we talk about how Joel didn't get any PIP money last year?
Yeah, we could talk about it.
There's some weird names on that list that don't.
make sense to me, by the way. And no one knows how
scores, Captain. Well, it's
I just, I've always
know Joel's personality and
his persona
was going to make him money
on, with the tour someday, within
the world of social media and everything
growing. And
I was
so happy when they
extended it to 20 because I'm like, oh, he's not
going to get it over, you know, the
Tiger and Zander and Ricky and those guys. But when they
I ended a 20 man
Pip.
I was like,
you're going to be in the top
20.
And for him to still
not be even after
Netflix, I felt
so bum.
He's one of the most
popular guys on tour.
Yeah, that's like,
20th is like 2 million.
It was 2 million.
I was,
when that list came out,
I'm like,
are you kidding me?
So,
I don't know where he would
have fallen if the list
would kept going,
but I'd like to think
he was number 20.
Yeah, let's just say he's 21.
Yeah.
Now, that makes it hurt even more, I feel like.
You're not wrong.
That's one of those things, too, the pit.
Like, why do we, that feels so rinky dink.
And also, like, unless you guys have some intimate knowledge, I really don't know how the scores are calculated.
There's no running scoreboard.
They just, boom, here it is at the end of the year.
We're going to pay all these guys a bunch of money.
Seems really huge.
Who didn't go to live.
That's a really big name.
Let's give him some extra cash.
Exactly.
there's a few on that list I think I know who you're talking about
so we won't name them though um let's get to the e9 because you got to get to bed
you got a round of golf to play caddy tomorrow out there in Reno Tahoe um Sleys I
think we can we can go with the celebrity crush he's a happily married man his kids are
there give us gino benelli's celebrity crush it can be male or female by the way
my celebrity crush
boy
I'm trying to evolve my timeline here
it was Megan Fox forever
like Transformers Megan Fox
like Transformers won
but that was kind of a long time ago
but as I get older
I'm going to say more of like a Blake lively
I like both answers Gino
Gino had good taste good taste
yeah she's nice
Yeah, she's nice.
I think if she saw you with the penis outline cup, dude.
That might steal the deal, by the way.
Yeah, back up, Ryan Reynolds.
Yeah.
You ever seen anything like this?
Exactly.
So, yeah, that's who popped into my head first.
So we'll go with that.
All right, that's a good one.
I feel like that was well thought out as well.
My first one's just like, this is legit out of genuine curiosity
because I've heard about this about you.
How good were you as a kid, as an archer?
And why did you give it up?
So this is actually kind of a good story.
I was really good.
Growing up in northern Idaho,
every weekend my dad would take me to these 3D archery tournaments.
There's basically 40 foam targets that they stick out there.
And you have to guess the distance and set your sight and shoot it.
There's deer and elk and coyotes and pigs and all sorts of different animals.
And each one has a different, you know, I guess bullseye in a different location on its body.
And it would take forever to shoot.
You spend all day out there guessing yardage and hopefully make a good shot.
And I started, I got my first trophy when it was four.
And I don't even know if I was able to pull a bow back, but apparently I was.
and that's the only one I still have.
It's on my mantle at home.
But I got to the point when I was about 12 years old
that I was really good.
And best in the state and probably best in the Northwest.
And I qualified to go to this world shoe,
which you had to place like top two in your region
in the United States and from around the world.
And I won that and my dad,
We didn't have a lot of money when I was a kid.
And my dad goes, we can go to this world shoot and you can shoot it.
Or I'll buy you a new set of golf clubs.
And I was 12 and I was just kind of getting into golf.
And the tailor-made burner irons just came out.
They looked sick.
That was sick.
Yeah.
So I was like, I want the golf clubs, dad.
So I got golf clubs.
And I shot a little bit after that.
But I had transferred to golf from there.
I shoot once in a while now, and I'm still pretty good.
But what could have been, I suppose.
Wow, I didn't know that.
It's been an Olympian on our hands.
Yeah, I had some skill at it, but I don't know if there was a lot of money to be made in the field of archery.
Never know.
Not that everything's all about money. Do what you love, kids.
but no it all worked out great because I'm obsessed with golf to this day you know it's been
28 years now and here we are and I believe next question you're in the Guinness Book of
World Records correct yes I only uh I had three records once upon a time I'm only down to one
but what were the three most holes of golf played in a week uh most birdies made in a week
and most birdies made in 12 hours.
Okay.
So you want to just give you a spoilers, Colt?
Yeah.
You want to take a random guess?
Well, I think I know because your friend told me.
That wouldn't be fair.
Fair.
Sleazy, are you already on the end on this?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I got the answer to this.
We'll just cut right to the chase.
I played 2,000 holes in a week, which is 111 rounds plus.
two additional holes, which is almost 16 rounds a day.
I made 493 birdies for the week,
and I had one stretch of birdies that was 67 birdies in 12 hours.
That's golfing.
Is that the record?
Oh, so my current record is...
So I thought you were a kid.
I'm sorry.
I thought you were a...
My wife is like...
Oh, maybe get a little cameo from her.
It's funny.
We start talking.
I'm yelling at him.
I'm like, I need my shoe.
If you had said it's me, I'd have to give it them to you.
It's funny.
So what I still have is 493 birdies.
Say hi, wife.
Gino, it's funny how we start talking about Megan Fox and Blake lively if she shows up.
Just just convenient timing.
She just said his list with 100 people long.
Every day, like you're going to add them to the list and them to the list.
Hey, you beat it.
That's awesome.
I genuinely thought you were a child trying to break it.
I don't know.
Shoes were all at dinner, so.
Well,
apparently everyone is shoeless trying to go to dinner.
I'll be down shortly.
Love you.
We love you too.
There's been some great cameos on this show.
What a lady.
What a lady you got.
Yeah, she's a good one.
I love it.
So most birdies in 12 hours is the one still in the record book.
No, sorry.
The one that still stands is most birdies in a week was 493.
And I don't think that will.
be beat before I die because that's a lot of birdies in a week.
So do they just be like, hey, you're an honest guy.
We're just going to take your word for it.
You made four or 93 parties.
There's a lot of different criteria you have to follow.
I had to have two independent scorekeepers at all times and they couldn't work for more than four
consecutive hours.
And I had to have affidavits saying that I made the scores on the holes that they said that I made.
And I had to send in hundreds of scorecards with basically a summary sheet for every.
everything.
Damn.
So it was a lot of work.
It was quite the undertaking.
Well, I don't think Slees and I...
I don't think Slees and I will ever try to beat into your records.
Now I'm out.
It's too much paperwork.
That's bullshit.
I thought my 67 birdies in 12 hours,
this is really good.
But there was a loophole in that that I didn't think about at the time that you could play
18 par fives and set them to the shortest distance.
That's not fair.
I don't like that.
You played real golf.
Right.
So, I mean, the course was still semi-short,
but it had to be over 6,000 yards per Guinness guidelines.
So, I mean, obviously 6,000 is short,
but you can play a bunch of 420-yard par fives, I guess,
and make a pile of birdies.
Yeah.
No, that birdies in a day feels like a safe one.
Congratulations.
Congratulations on that.
That was going to be a tough one to top.
All right, my next one, Gino,
as they, I would say,
notoriously frugal person.
How much courage did it take?
And how bad did it hurt to pony up 500 bucks for a cameo from Rick Blair?
The Nature Boy.
That's so funny.
One of my really good friends is the one who paid for it.
He had the idea.
I didn't even have to do it.
Okay.
That makes sense.
Who is it for?
I don't think I would have.
But man, wasn't that great?
That was gold.
in fact i think i just need to repost that because i don't know if that was pre-netflix days or not i don't know
what my follower count was at the time but i think uh i think people would love to see that one again
i might just have to retweet my own tweet was it about you it was uh it was rick flare given
jol a pep talk like oh nice yeah yeah what's going on my man you didn't get your head out of your
ass kind of thing.
God, he's 500 for Cameo.
That's incredible.
What a God.
Rick Flair.
You can get Fat Perez for like 80 bucks.
Yeah, right.
Camio's been all up on me trying to get me to be a quote-unquote celebrity out there.
I'm like, no one would ever pay $10 for me to send them a video.
You might be surprised.
You might be surprised.
World record holder?
I've made
493 30s in a week
All right next one
I believe last time we had you on
Or maybe it was radio
We were joking
Or maybe it was when Joel was on here
We were joking how he just randomly gets
Yips with certain clubs
It's a punch out Yips
I got the 7 Iron Yips something
Do we have anything this season
That's kind of out of left field
As far as the Yips with Joel Damon
I think we missed two
Fairways in a row in Palm Springs
Earlier this year
And he goes, I have to draw
And then we hit the third one and he was cured.
Okay.
The punch-out yips are my favorite.
That's the only yip that happens this year, been referenced this year as a driver-driver yip,
which he's the best of the world at hitting.
Perfect.
That's beautiful.
That guy, gosh, he's special, isn't he?
He is one of one.
One of one, which is the perfect segue into my next one.
Because he used to stamp like his irons with these.
weird phrases. I don't know if he still does it, but one of them was pants drunk. Can you explain
what pants drunk is? So a long drink, one of his sponsors, it's a drink that originated in
Finland. Apparently when you really get drunk in Finland, you take off your pants.
And Joel, you know, being the guy that takes off his shirt in the Phoenix Open, then probably takes off
as close when he drinks in general. It was a very fitting sponsorship with between he and long
drinks. So I think that was kind of a finish tie with with the pants drunk. But that's where
that one came from. I like that. Did not know that. All right, next one. Your Caddy Cribbs videos
are incredible. Can you give us maybe the worst place you've stayed this year? Oh. It's
It's not that.
That ain't that.
It took you like three minutes to walk to the door.
I've been really fortunate this year.
I've stayed in a lot of freebies with people.
This sounds,
I can't say I've stayed anywhere bad, Colt,
but I've stayed in a lot of free places
with random people who I've never met.
And I show up.
In fact, next week at 3M,
a friend of a friend was just like,
sure, we've got room for you.
And I'm going in.
hoping for the best.
We've exchanged some text messages,
and they seem like nice people.
I don't know what the place is like.
I don't know.
I don't even know if I have a bedroom,
but I'm going.
And they've got a couple little kids.
So I love it when I stay with the family
and they've got kids because it makes me miss my kids less
when I get to play with little ones.
And I think they said they're two and four.
So I've got a daughter who's three.
So I'm sure I'll be playing with some Legos or some Barbies or something next week.
Well, that's sweet.
But didn't there wasn't one place this year
or maybe you showed up and your bed was already wet?
That's a nice teacher.
Oh, man.
Do I have time to tell a quick story?
Yes, of course.
This is the point of it, yeah.
You guys don't like this.
So we get to New Orleans, and I'm not going to say the property because it was free.
So I got calmed a place in a hotel, and it was like 1 o'clock in the morning.
We had some flight delays coming from Dominican Republic, and I get in, and I'm on the edge of the bed,
and you plug your phone in here
and I'm just kind of laying here
because that is, you know,
there's just this short little cord
and I'm watching suits
or whatever I'm into at the time.
And now it's like 1.45.
I'm like, I have to go to sleep.
So I set my phone down
and I roll into the middle of the bed
and it is sopping wet.
Oh my God.
And I'm like, no way.
And I'm just praying
that somebody spilled a water bottle
in the middle of this bed.
But what are the odds of,
of that happening, right? It's not
on the top cover, it's just the mattress.
And
it's 1.45 in the morning
and I'm like, if I go down
to the front desk now, they're going to make me change
rooms. And I already
unpacked my stuff. I had showered.
I got all my stuff in the bathroom.
I'm like, you know what? Fuck
it. Excuse my language. I curled
up over in the corner and I
closed my eyes and go to sleep.
And I wake up in the morning
and I had a room
mate, he came in sometime around
that time, I don't remember coming in. And I tell
him the story, he's like, dude, let's switch rooms.
I go, bro, I slept
in the bed all night. They're not going
to believe that I didn't
piss the bed.
Like, oh, you're probably right.
So,
I stripped the covers,
and I put a Do Not Disturb on the door
because I didn't want housekeeping to come
in and find that
supposedly I had wet the bed.
And when I got back from the course on
that Tuesday.
It didn't have a bad odor at the time.
Like I smelled it.
I'm like, it could be water.
So I went in the bathroom, we got a hair dryer, and I put it under the sheet, and I
started just letting it run.
And as it warmed up, it was...
Oh, God, that's disgusting.
Oh, no.
But now we're 24 hours into this hotel room, and there's no way anyone's going to believe
that I didn't piss the bed.
so I curled up into a ball in the corner again and my roommate's just laughing at me I'm like
I don't have another option I'm not going to sleep on the floor I just kind of scoot over here I guess
and by day three I finally got it dried out that is unbelievable so gross I am so gross my wife judges
me for that but I did it that that's the way I justified it I guess excuse me front desk two days ago
I noticed someone pissed the bed before I got her.
You mind if I switched.
Exactly.
Who's going to buy that story?
Yeah.
I have put an air dryer on or blow dryer on it for the last two days, but trust me,
this is not me covering up my own mess.
This was here.
That's great.
Yeah.
You're kind of boxed in at that point.
That's tough.
I really was.
And thank you to whoever tipped you off to that, Colt, that the world now knows
that Gino sleeps in strangers pissed.
I'm still confused as to how it.
Someone must have gotten in your feet.
bed pissed.
A big piss, apparently, if it took multiple days to dry out.
And then, what, put the big covers on top of it?
Because those weren't.
So, our housekeeping came in and changed the sheets without realizing it had pissed on it.
Like, somebody knew this bed was pissed in.
And I was the recipient.
What a story.
Oh, shit.
That one would take the cake.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it was free for the week, though.
So, it was worth it?
If there's P, it's free.
That should be the motto.
I like that.
All right, last one from me, Gino.
I want to know this, because you had a great story at the Players' Championship.
You were running late.
It was weather.
You had to jack a young girl's bicycle, which had a flat tire to pedal your way to the Players' Championship,
which I think was 7 miles, by the way.
It was far.
And then they didn't even play the round that day.
It got pushed to the next day.
So you did all that for nothing.
But whatever happened, that little girl's bike?
I made it back.
I had a ride at home.
I rode 14 miles on a half deflated tire that day.
I was exhausted.
But we got to return to the Airbnb.
They had an air compressor in their garage, but they didn't have the tire adapter for the air compressor hose.
So I just went with it.
And we got to return.
We've stayed there every year, thankfully.
I think I have the gal's phone number now.
And if I ever have another bike emergency at the players.
14 miles.
Wow.
I tell you what, I'm as a now 40-year-old.
I could not do that.
My back would have gone out.
Man.
That's impressive.
I thought you just jack some random kids bike.
It was like, I need this.
No, thankfully, it was in the garage at the Airbnb.
be we were renting and it worked out okay.
All right.
Beautiful.
All right.
Last one.
Okay.
I know you love caddying for Joel Damon.
It's a great job.
But what is your dream job?
Oh, well, I already wrote Rory a job application.
No, it doesn't involve golf.
Oh, my dream job, not caddying.
Well, my dream would be good enough to play golf, but obviously that's not a thing.
Um, my goal is to ultimately win the Powerball.
Uh, could that be a job?
No, hold on, because River has it, you, you've always wanted to voice over some cartoons.
Oh, yeah, 100%. That's all I want to do is a voice and animated character or a movie or a TV show.
That is 100% my dream. I just don't know how I'm ever going to make it happen.
Uh, can you give us a little example?
So many listeners out there work for Disney or Pixar, any sort of, uh,
TV deal.
I really would like to support you.
Can you give us a couple of your voices?
Well, my nose is so stuffy right now that I don't know if I can't.
I do a really, really good ammo.
So that was my elbow.
It didn't really come through really well right there.
Yeah, Kermitie for walk.
I need to have some airway in my nose to be able to do it.
We can hear it, though.
I can hear that it's there, that it's in there.
Pretty good.
That to me, I feel like just being able to hide in a studio and not have a, anything, like, video on you and just be able to be a goofball and do weird voices.
And I love having a three-year-old because she thinks it's so funny and my wife finds it so annoying that, you know, I do all these different weird voices.
I make her laugh.
And my wife is like, shut up.
That's awesome.
So I'm so glad you brought that up, Gould.
because one of the producers with Netflix, I was like, this is all I want to do is voice and animated character in anything.
I don't even care if it never gets seen.
I just think that would be so much fun to do.
Just be a goofball.
And like Seth McFarland, what he does is incredible.
The guys from South Park.
That is.
I mean, that's a dream.
That is so cool.
We hope you get to do it one day.
And thank you for showing so much personality.
Joel both out there. Y'all make the game of golf so much better, and we appreciate you to
joining us. Oh, you guys are awesome. Thank you for the time, as always, and go buy a pair of sacks.
All right, that was Gino Benelli, joining us on subpar. Before we react to that, please, I'm heading
to the member guests at the Gaza Ranch next week, and you know I will not be taking my
clubs to the airport. Why would you, bud? Why would you? Why would you add hassle of that?
You ship them? They're there when you get there. Oh, you want to leave? Boom. Hey, boys,
You send these back home to the cribs, send them to the golf course, wherever you want.
My brother just came up here to Flagstaff Colt visiting me.
It's clubs beat them here, by the way, ready and waiting.
You got to treat them right.
If you're going on a buddy's trip, all of you use it, you'd be amazed at how much easier it makes it.
There's no reason not to in the world.
You and I do it every time.
And honestly, now that I do it, like, if I ever have to drag them through an airport,
I'm like, this is, it sucks even more than it did before.
That is correct.
Won't do anything else, but chip sticks.
That's it.
That's it.

All right.
Let's talk about Gino Vanelli.
World Record holder.
The man's in the Guinness book,
World Records.
By the way, I'd have no idea
like the process.
You have to go through it
to like verify what he did.
I mean, the amount of holes he played,
the amount of birdies in a week,
the amount of birdies in a day.
Like,
there's a whole process,
which I didn't really know it was that detail.
Yeah, there goes my chances of ever set in any sort of good.
There's way too much paperwork and admin going on in there.
But yeah, listen to him and tell that story.
Like, he woke up the second day, he's going a million holes.
And he's like, do my hands are blistered.
I can't keep going.
Or he did it.
And that is a shitload of holes.
And that birdie streak is going to, somebody's going to have to really, really want it.
Because what did he say?
The golf course has to be 6,000 yards?
Yes.
Right.
So you got to play a ton of golf, A, and also.
be pretty good to make that amount of birdies.
Like that one, that one might hang for a bit.
But man, those two guys call it like,
you follow them out there every week.
They've, since Netflix, they've become big-name dudes on the PJs.
And Gino signs more autographs than half of the players, it feels like,
and according to Joel.
And you can't go anywhere without, you know,
people hollering at them up and down the fairways.
They've really leaned into that Netflix,
and that's a perfect example of what it can do for you.
Yep, that was a game changer for him.
I was sad he was a little under the weather so he couldn't do his cartoon voices.
We're going to get a little clip of that and hopefully make a post for Instagram out of it.
But he's hilarious, man.
I love him.
Their relationship is as good as it gets out there.
They don't take themselves too seriously.
I'll give you a quick story about Gino.
We're in Detroit just a couple of weeks ago.
And Joel was in like the next to last group or a couple groups from the last on Sunday.
I'm on the range.
And Gino's doing Gino things.
He's all over the place.
Signed a few autographs, taking pictures, all this.
And he comes over.
he's like, Joel, I lost track of time.
We're on the T in 12 minutes.
And Joel goes, oh, okay.
Should I hit a driver?
He's like, yeah, maybe send one driver,
then we got to go because it's like a little bit of a distance to the first team.
I was like, that is so typical of these two.
Like, oh, fuck, I lost track of time.
Oh, I should probably hit one driver before we go out
and try to win this golf tournament.
And that's how Joel's been, like, for forever.
I mean, going back to the Canadian tour,
he'd be like in the lead or final group.
We'd be on the range.
And he'd be, like, hitting shanks on purpose.
Or just doing, like, weird shoes.
He's like, watch how hard I can shank this a darn.
And it would be hard, and he could do it, which, by the way, it's hard to shank one on purpose.
He can do it off the man.
Mess around, and he's always, like, had fun playing the game.
I think the one thing, and even talking, like, to Joel about it, is, like, I think a lot of people think I'm just like a goofball that, you know, doesn't work out of it, doesn't care, all that much.
I think their competitiveness of those two gets lost a little bit.
And that, because they are funny, and you want to highlight the funny, because there's not that many people like that.
But he also, like, it ain't an accident that they've been out on tour as long as they have.
Nope.
They're a great team.
Always fun sitting down with them.
So thanks to Gino.
Thanks to Sacks for everything they do.
There was a lot of fun sitting down with all the great underwear models in the golf world the past few weeks.
That was a blast of shadow.
Yeah.
Once again, 15% off.
Get you some underwear, protect your balls.
Make them happy.
Sacks.com.
This week we got the 3M championship.
We're filming this on Sunday, so the odds aren't out.
Yeah, we'll be back to make our picks later in the week.
But, so later I had two weeks at home.
It felt like a year compared to what I've been doing.
I got four weeks left, and then I get a nice little break.
So I'm back to the road again.
What a good two weeks to be home, right in the smack middle of July.
Beautiful out.
A lot of options.
Yeah, that's...
It is just...
At least you got out and played a little golf, though.
You got that eight ball up in you.
Yeah.
It was hotter in hell yesterday when we played.
But then, like, the last four or five holes, it was...
6 p.m. And it actually got kind of nice out. It was fun. And they do this every Saturday
during the summer because no one's out there. And you should join us sometime. It is a lot of fun.
There is a lot of shit talking going on. It's your kind of golf. We'd love to. I'll be back
down the hill in a couple weeks. Be down there to sweat it out, grind it out. We'll set that
up. All right, my man. Well, that was a lot of fun. Once again, congrats to Xander Schaulay,
his second major championship of the season. It was awesome to watch. Hope everybody enjoyed it.
We'll talk to you on next week's subpar.
Thank you.
