Dustin from Sacred Symbols here, have you ever wondered what it actually feels like to have a better laptop like the DellXPS powered by Intel Core?
Starting point is 00:02:10 With its premium thin and light design, it feels smooth in your hands. The responsive touchscreen keeps things fast and precise for easy scrolling and swiping. And with long-lasting battery life, you get non-stop energy to keep working without constantly hunting for a charger. built for those who want better. The DellXPS built for you. Now quiet up and listen down. Oh, wait, strike that. Reverse it.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Welcome, everyone, to another audio-only episode of the Super Mega Show podcast, the Super Mega Cat, the Supercast. Just the, um, it's Super Mega. And now get ready, pull out your tissues, everyone. Matt and I have some news today. deliver. Yeah, you're going to need these tissues handy. Really, really need it handy.
Starting point is 00:03:20 You want to go ahead and... Yeah. Now, we've teased this in the recent episodes. You know, we've had talks. There's been rumors and myth alike of what's about to happen. We are not going to be posting the podcast of this channel anymore. It's going on a new channel starting next episode. or it should.
Starting point is 00:03:44 If everything goes well, which it should now. Historically with Super Mega, it has. Everything goes perfectly. Right. And it goes according to plan right on schedule.
Starting point is 00:03:52 So, yeah, I mean, that's kind of the whole reason why we've been doing the audio episodes is because the sets all set up
Starting point is 00:04:03 for the new thing, but now we've done three is the key. Three's the key. We're doing a third one, you know? Yeah. Good things come in threes.
Starting point is 00:04:11 Because we, unfortunately, the amount of, you know, stuff it took for the kind of new podcast setup was not something that we could pull off between episodes. It was a much longer process. So that's why we had to go back to this nostalgic little send-off for the channel for the podcast. But the new podcast channel, God, it's going to be fucking dope. Yep. And I don't want to give too much, but guess what, everyone?
Starting point is 00:04:41 We're going to have guests. On the first few episodes, it's going to be nutting but guests. Yeah, back to back guests, baby. We're talking about a home run of guests. And then we'll get to the Matt and Ryan episodes, of course, like you guys love. I know. We have given you 100 and now 32 episodes of nothing but Matt and Ryan. And maybe we thought we'd shake things up a little.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Yeah. You know, because some, we've seen the comments and the demands of guests. Please, please get some guests. I'm tired of you guys. And the etchings with keys on our cars. Uh-huh. Well, you know, like I've said this multiple times, I don't think that's something we should give attention to
Starting point is 00:05:24 because it just gives the person who did that what they want, right? Someone walking up, remember when he said on the podcast? Oh, he'll get the reference. Yeah, don't do that. Please. I have a dash cam that's motion activated. Yeah, and I have a gun that's motion activated. Yeah, and I'm not allowed to.
Starting point is 00:05:43 I don't own the gun personally. The car came with it. Yeah, and you should genuinely... You're going to get in trouble with that. You know how many close calls I've had going out in the parking lot at night to grab something of my car? You know how much trouble I got in
Starting point is 00:05:57 when I used the ejector seat? I didn't know that... I thought it was a joke. And... I mean, you bought this inspector gadget, you know, type car. And I was taking a new intern out, a new super mega intern out for a ride
Starting point is 00:06:12 showing them, you know, what it means to be a part of the, part of the family, a part of the business. Yeah, and I was doing donuts in the middle of an intersection, around 4.30 p.m. as, as, as, as, as I do. And I, I, I hit, I hit the button and, ever heard the term meat crayon? I think, I, I, I, I, it's kind of what he, it's yeah, it's what he, yeah, yeah, yeah, we, we, we got it. And, and, and to be fair, you know, you know, I think it was a great idea with the whole liability clause in the intern contracts because that didn't luckily have to go anywhere. I mean, it was his choice to get in the car.
Starting point is 00:06:54 That's true. I mean, your whole life, every day, everything you do, you are making choices. Yeah. But now we have Darwin, so everything worked out. Yeah. Darwin's playing with sticky tape, I think. Yes, he's playing at east. He's just playing with tape.
Starting point is 00:07:10 He was like taping up his fingers in different colors because he got different colors. because he got different colored tapes. It looks cool. Yeah. Yeah. I was kind of wanting him to get on the organization and the plan. I think that maybe it's like with the different, he's putting the different color tape on his fingers
Starting point is 00:07:25 because when he's organizing today, maybe it's going to help him. Maybe some like mental math where it's like red finger reminds me of USBC cables, which are we're going to catalog, catalog is red. And then, you know, he has a whole system.
Starting point is 00:07:39 I trust him. Sure, yeah. He hasn't done much. the last two weeks. He's been putting tape on his... I saw him putting tape on his wallet right before we came in here. He likes the tape, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Yeah, he was making a tape phone case. Well, hopefully. Which he's just putting tape over the case that he bought in the first place. Well, to be fair, I mean, if I saw the tape phone case, I wouldn't know that there's like a different company's phone case under. I would have just thought it was a...
Starting point is 00:08:04 It's a cool design. Right. And then you go, where did you get that? And he goes, oh, I made it. And then you get all impressed. We might need the take away the tape. I think it's becoming a problem. When we go to like a commercial break, we'll go out there and we'll check.
Starting point is 00:08:16 And if he hasn't organized anything and he's still playing with it. Because that is expensive tape. It's Gaffer's tape. And it's good tape. It's great tape. And there's 10 colors. Oh, yes, 10 fingers. That explains it too.
Starting point is 00:08:29 Okay. But yeah, we will be moving the podcast to its own channel. And like we said, 132 episodes of just Matt and Ryan. So for the guest-woners, we are going to be stacking some guest episodes as the first few. And we got some variety. This ain't your mama's guests. Yes, I will say, like, confidently, at least from what we have, because episode four, we're not sure if that's going to be going into a guest or if we're going to have to have an in-betweener.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Right. But the first three episodes are definitely a different type of guest. For each one. They each have their own, like they're not just all, like, internet funnies. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:19 And, uh, well, I mean, they, I don't want to give anything away, but, you know, maybe a certain late night talk show host
Starting point is 00:09:27 that maybe rhymes with Schmell Schmar. But, Seth Myers? I'm bad at rhyming. Granted. Why, who do we have? Who do we have?
Starting point is 00:09:37 Who do we have on the, Schmills? Smil, Schmar. Who do we have on the, first episode. Billing Vaugh. Oh, I'm just kidding. I wasn't going to spoil that one. Well, we'll leave, we'll close
Starting point is 00:09:48 that book there so we don't give anything else away. Rhymes with Smary, the Smable guy. Okay, now you're now you're just making unusable recordings for the podcast, Ryan. Come on, though. Dude, I
Starting point is 00:10:03 want to see me do a backflip? Okay, let's see it. Whoa! Right? Want to see me do it again? Yeah. Oh, whoa! Oh yeah, dude, right? Three's the key?
Starting point is 00:10:13 Okay, okay. One, two. Oh shit, are you all right, dude? Whoa, come here, come here. I got it's all right, it's okay, it's okay, come here. I got you, no, no, no, no, you don't need to fight. No, it's fine, you are okay. Tough it out, let's be a big boy, let's be a big boy, ready?
Starting point is 00:10:29 And be a big boy for me? Be a big boy for Matt. Your best friend, you got this man. Very impressive, you got two out of three and that's a pass. Well, technically not by the South Carolina school standard. because two out of three is 66.6%, which is a fail. Yeah. But you're okay, you got, your eyes are red.
Starting point is 00:10:47 I'm good, I'm good. I'm good. You held back the tears well. And I just shouldn't go. My head was light from the first two and I wasn't and I wasn't prepared. I haven't done three in a row before. I know. And that was wrong of me to push you.
Starting point is 00:11:03 And also, I appreciate, I mean, I appreciate you thinking that I could. I said that you had confidence in your friend. You could hear it in my voice. And also, you know, I guess, I guess in retrospect, probably should have saved that for an episode with the cameras on. But, true. I don't want you to ever do that again. I don't want to risk.
Starting point is 00:11:22 I won't. I don't think I can't. Like I... Don't do any backflips. Yeah. Because that could have ended much worse. But I did it for an episode, which I, you know, we were talking off, off, off, off, cast about, you know, we don't really do a lot of physical humor on the video podcast.
Starting point is 00:11:38 It's mainly just us sitting there, looking back and forth and talking. And, you know, we're a comedy channel and we would like to introduce more physical comedy. So, you know, I guess it works in that end. I was trying to be more impressive. You're trying to do more of a carrot top, Gallagher kind of prop comedy. Right. I guess that's what it turned out to be. I was more just trying to do like a sick flip and look cool doing it.
Starting point is 00:12:02 But yeah, I guess if it looked more like a, if you liken it to carrot top, then I guess it's, it succeeded in a lot of ways. I would. Are there any, like, because I know there's, like, prop comedy, but is there, there's different types of, of, you know, comedy schicks,
Starting point is 00:12:19 like prop comedy. Bo Burnham's a prop comedian. Exactly. He uses a piano. It's a prop. It's a tool. And then there's, there's comics that do more, like,
Starting point is 00:12:28 slapstick, you know, like Jim Carrey with the goofy faces and real expressive the way he moves, but, like, is there really, I don't know if there's any, like, parkour comics
Starting point is 00:12:37 or like comics that do Dane Cook was pretty parkour like Do you see him he was like running circles around that circle Like that the stool The circle stage Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Dude he was probably coked out of his fucking mind Oh doing stand up back then just fucking he's fucking dang cooked
Starting point is 00:12:54 And he gets to he gets to go from one side of the circle To the other side of the circle Oh my god it's like a it's kind of new faces Oh yeah and it's like a dog before it lays down He looks like a dog when he's walking He's like his attention's always out I don't know if I'd be able to... Where did he come from?
Starting point is 00:13:09 Where did Dane Cook come from? He just came out of nowhere. He just started performing on circular stages and Comedy Central. There's like got to be... I had 90% of celebrities. I'm just like, where do they come from? Like, where... Especially that Cotton Eye Joe guy.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Yeah. But I don't know where he went either. But he's good. Yeah. Dane Cook, I had the pleasure of seeing him live at the Laugh Factory. And I didn't even know he was... Were you intoxicated at all to a degree? I was...
Starting point is 00:13:34 Yeah, I had some drinks. So it was watchable. I remember enjoying it It's not a yes or a hell Okay okay okay You enjoyed it I can't remember
Starting point is 00:13:44 Anything specific I do remember I do remember I do remember him making jokes About dating a 19 year old He's like Isn't he actually
Starting point is 00:13:54 He is but he was like He was like owning it He was like Yeah And then it was like Some self deprecation Bill Maher also dates Like around that age age
Starting point is 00:14:03 Yeah Well that I mean that one Was one of the biggest shocks to me finding out Bill Maher did that. I was like, I just, I didn't see him as that type of person.
Starting point is 00:14:13 I'm still waiting for our Bill Maher, a Bill Maher Dane Cook, buddy comedy in like, planes, trains, and automobiles. That would be fun. It's been a while. I mean,
Starting point is 00:14:26 that movie is old. It's time, it's time for us to write the remake. We should, we should make a video where we just, we write a horrible screenplay like that and we earnest. pitch it and see how it goes to studio.
Starting point is 00:14:39 We've done that before. We've pitched a pretty bad project before. Yeah. That was I tried to forget about it. I do too. Because we were in a room
Starting point is 00:14:52 with executives and stuff. And people there to hear our idea and give money and make it happen. And our idea. See, it wasn't but you're not, but you're not, without more context, it sounds like you and I are just such bad comedy writers, and we got this
Starting point is 00:15:16 opportunity and just blew it because we're so not funny. When the truth of the matter is, it was the subject matter that we were writing about. And in hindsight, I see why executives wouldn't, you know, green light it because... Oh, I remember the pitch. You know what you don't see on YouTube? And they didn't answer. And so I was like... Yeah, they were waiting for... I thought they were going to jump in and, you know, throw some answers out because we had a whole thing planned. This was a meeting with YouTube executives 10 years ago. Yeah. And the response was nothing again. And so I was just like, well, what's, I tried it again. What don't you see on YouTube?
Starting point is 00:15:55 Graphic pornography. And then a lot of us, a good few of them chuckled. I guess they thought that was the joke. Right. Well, exactly. Because like I said, we expected them to throw some almost like charades out where it's like, well, you don't see this or that. And then we would riff off it, establish like a nice, you know, back and forth with them, but they were silenced.
Starting point is 00:16:16 And then when you say graphic pornography, I think they thought that it was like, oh, that's a joke. But no, I mean, it's... I mean, we shot test screenings. And they didn't laugh during those. No, but we didn't, just to make sure the audience knows,
Starting point is 00:16:30 we were, like, Matt and I weren't in a scene together. We got a Matt look alike and we also got a Ryan look alike. And we were in the scene. scenes with the lookalikes. We didn't do anything together because that would get in the way of our business partnership. And you don't ever want to mix like business and pleasure. Exactly. Because it can complicate a relationship. But yeah, that didn't ever take off. This is a super mega podcast if I've ever listened to one. You know, taking kernels of truth and then throwing lies and
Starting point is 00:17:00 slander. We made gay porn and took it to YouTube studios and Beverly Hills and Show the exacts. I mean, think about it. Think about the energy in the room if we did that. Ryan, there's not, like that's not out of the realm of possibility. Like through, I don't know, through people that we've met through our YouTube tenure, I'm sure we could probably, if we really tried, get a, set up some kind of meeting with, with some people at YouTube to pitch something.
Starting point is 00:17:33 And then just, just have that ready to go, gay porn. And then we could come back on the podcast and tell the real story. And there's nothing gay about it. It's just porn. See, and that's the thing. People want to put these labels on it and say, oh, this is gay. So it's gay porn. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Whoa. There's nothing gay about it. No such thing is gay sex. It's cool. This is cool porn. Like, we're using the like sophomoric. They're like, what are you pitching? What?
Starting point is 00:18:01 This show's not gay. It's cool. Yeah, like this, we're, you know, everything is like, See, that's the problem with YouTube. They try to slap labels on everything and put us all into these camps to divide us. Guess what? I don't see gay sex. I just see sex.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Exactly. And I don't see gay lovers. I just see lovers. And I don't see gay porn. I just see art. Bump, bum, bum. You spotted it in a photo before you noticed it in the mirror. Your hairlines move.

Dustin from Sacred Symbols here, you know when you're in the middle of a heavy recording session, editing a show, or just trying to get real work done on the go, and your laptop starts slowing down or burning up in your lap? It's the worst. So, what does it actually feel like to switch over to a better laptop, like the Dell XPS powered by Intel Core? For starters, it's built with a premium design that's incredibly thin and light.
Starting point is 00:20:45 So it feels smooth, meaning far less weight on your shoulders when you're packing up for travel. Then you open it up and the responsive touchscreen makes scrolling, zooming, and swiping feel completely fast and precise. Everything just flows. Best of all, with its long-lasting battery life, it feels like non-stop energy. You get a better way to work without being chained to a charger all day. Build for those who want better. You know, it's getting into that fall season,
Starting point is 00:21:39 but things are getting a lot busier. You know, there's the holidays coming up, works probably getting a little more busy as well. So you need to make room to relax. And that's what I do with IndyCloud at least. I personally like using the sleep gummies because I need help sleeping at night or else I'll stay up

Starting point is 00:22:27 this show. Enjoy responsibly. And thanks to Indicloud for making room for the plans you want to keep and the evenings you want to keep for yourself. I mean, that's like the mic drop moment where like when I say art, you can physically bring a mic too and drop. it just for the visual. The whole time they should, I should be holding it and they're like,
Starting point is 00:22:59 oh, he's going to do some, like, I don't know why he's holding the mic and we brought an amp into the room. Just so it adds the, too. Yeah. So it's like, it's quietly humming the whole time, I'm like, mm. And they're like, oh, I'm sure this is part of their pitch, but then I drop it and it's, and they hear it like three floors down.
Starting point is 00:23:16 But yeah, that's our YouTube gay porn bit. We hope you guys enjoyed it. Now we're going to talk about how Matt and I are going to see Digger and how excited Tom Cruise's Digger. Yes. I still,
Starting point is 00:23:29 not the biggest fan of the name of that movie. Apparently, they even told the director about it and everything. Yes. And he was like, I know, this is the name.
Starting point is 00:23:36 I had it in a dream. He had like, it came to me in a vision. The angel Gabriel. Yeah. Came to him and say, I mean, the movie does sound like
Starting point is 00:23:45 something that would come to you in a dream. It's like, Tom Cruise, as a, as a, like, older man, and he's, he's,
Starting point is 00:23:52 he's like a billionaire capitalist and he digs holes. I actually don't know the... I know it's around that, but I'm excited. Honestly, I think it's a lot of the times better to go into a movie when it's like almost like you're expecting it to be awful or like the reviews are terrible. Because then even if it's like borderline C tier, it's still like, oh, you know, it surprised me. It wasn't great, but like I wasn't as bad as, you know, people were saying. Now, the problem is if it is as bad as people are saying
Starting point is 00:24:24 And we're bored in the theater going, fuck I don't know if we'll be bored from two hours, a clean two And what I've seen people say online I haven't read too much But it seems like the consensus is It's not good, but it's worth seeing Because it's fun You'll, it's something
Starting point is 00:24:46 I enjoy the cast that they have in there It's got Joe at Jesse Plymonds Jesse Plemens, John Goodman, has Emma Darcy, who I've seen in House of Dragon, but they also do like stage play stuff. They're one of them Brits. I might be busy tomorrow. What? I might not be able to see the movie. I don't even think they're in the movie that long.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Okay. Maybe. I don't know. I haven't seen the movie. Well, maybe we should find out when that is so I can go to the bathroom. You know, British people. Yeah. It's just, it kind of ruins a movie for me. Having to hear the accent and even when they do an American accent, it's very apparent. It's like, okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:26 They just make it so realest, like they, they, they, I'm trying to, round, round, it's round. And, and, that's what they sound like. British listeners, you've heard our British accents, so, I mean, we don't have much room to speak. Hello. Go on then. Come on, mate. Dude, it's a hard accent to do. Give my tugger a sniff.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Give my tongue. So we do it pretty round. But like the opposite direction and it's just like, I don't know, maybe we could have a, maybe we can get some, some, some Brits and us in a room together, almost like Jubilee style and kind of like settle the beef where like the whole time we have to speak in a British accent and they have to speak in an American accent. Oh, blimey. I guess an embarrassing American accent is this?
Starting point is 00:26:15 Is that what like, I think that's a beautiful accent. Like our version, like our version of British, like in terms of, of like making fun of it. It's all my cock and balls. Oh, you want to have a drip of me cock and balls? A drip of me cock and balls? Come on, mate. Come on, just take yourself a sip.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Take yourself a swig. I think that, uh... Oh, blimey, your lips are cold. I think the cockney accent is like the, uh, like the, the, the equivalent of like the, um, when they, when people from another country do an American impression. And it's like the,
Starting point is 00:26:50 Well, hey y'all. Is that their version of R. Cochney? Yes. Do they go, oh, you know, maybe some French fries? Like, they'll do like a bad. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I'm a big, fat American.
Starting point is 00:27:03 I love McDonald's. I do love McDonald's. I'm an American and I love McDonald's. Although I am enjoying Wendy's a good bit recently because of their giant sugar cookies. Wendy's nuts in your mouth. Just kidding. I haven't had a sugar cookies.
Starting point is 00:27:17 I'm trying to have a serious conversation about Fast Food Enterprise. I redirected it right. after the joke. And I said, I haven't had the sugar cookies. Are they good? They're really good. And they're big. They're this big. Is this new? No. They've had this? Yeah. They're this big, dude. That's huge. Luke, show them what I'm doing.
Starting point is 00:27:32 This big. And Luke, it's got to be accurate, please. Or show them what I mean, not what I'm doing. Or you can show them what I'm doing, because I'm doing this. Oh, damn. That's smooth. That's really nice. Yep. Like the little twirl you did.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Just show a clip of it. someone dancing. Michael Jackson on stage. I don't feel like I have to handhold you, Luke. I feel like it's, uh, I feel like it's, you know, you can intuit what I want.
Starting point is 00:27:59 And if you can't, then we are going to have a serious discussion. Oh, more than a discussion. We're going to have a serious problem. Yeah. And we're both holding up our fists right now. To quote,
Starting point is 00:28:10 cool hand Luke, no pun intended there. What we have here is a failure to communicate, which wasn't even in the book. Or a failure to launch. Great. That with Matthew. Maconaghan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:24 I almost said like three different Matthews. Like it was like in my head it was going between like a... McConaugans. Like a slot machine of Matthews. And I was going to the actors. Matthew McGonagall, dude. Oh man. Oh, there it is.
Starting point is 00:28:39 There's what? The Harry Potter references. Oh yeah. I'll tell you something, man. That new Harry Potter series don't even get me started. I think I'm just... I don't think I can bring myself to... care. Yeah. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, uh, like, it doesn't, it doesn't look, uh, great. And I'm, and I don't really
Starting point is 00:29:00 understand why, uh, everything needs to have like a spinoff or remake. Uh, it's got to be shinier and newer. Right. And it's like, I don't understand it, but also at the same time, I don't, I don't think I give enough of a fuck. I have, you know, a lot going on in my personal life that, that, that I have to pay attention. I can barely, you know, my, there's only so much energy that my, uh, that I have that can be directed towards things. You check on the internet, people are worried about the stupidest shit. I was like, unfortunately, X is like the epicenter of where you can see this example. Like, I was watching, uh, there were like clips of, there's a new Gears of War game that released,
Starting point is 00:29:40 uh, you know, gears with the chainsaw gun and all that. And there's like clips of like, uh, modern, the modern day gamer watching like a woman walk on screen and like they'll it's it's actually quite embarrassing it's like watching a grown 30 40 year old person just kind of like throw their arms up in the air and go what is this what is what i'm sorry okay pause the tape we've jumped a shark on this one yeah let's uh let's maybe pause and let's take it back a few scenes and just yeah well to me it looks ridiculous these these people to them though these as what i would see is like just stupid things to make like a whole war and battle over on the internet,
Starting point is 00:30:22 just seems like something you can go, eh, didn't like it. Well, it's also like people, especially like big streamers and creators that are like that. That's like how they make their money is they have to rally the troops. So it's like they need something to get their audience upset over. I don't think they actually even think these things when they're playing it. I don't know when I,
Starting point is 00:30:46 like, And there would be a female character in a shooter video game or something. My first thought wasn't like, that's weird. What? Um, what is this? I'd just be like, a video game character talking. Okay. I'd mostly just be waiting to play the game again after the cutscenes over.
Starting point is 00:31:05 Yeah, you don't really care. Like, they could introduce like a clown car could pull up and like 50 clowns jump out and you're just like mashing X. I'm like, that's weird. That sounds like that would happen in a Kojima game. No lie, though. Yeah. Like you're playing Death Stranding and the Clown.
Starting point is 00:31:19 clown car comes out of nowhere. That's that, that is something you would put in his game. And that one's for free, Kojima. It's about how we don't take life so seriously. Now we shouldn't. Sounds so different these days. Oh yeah, he took a stellar language course.
Starting point is 00:31:37 He sounds so different. Like, when he just like, like, was in an interview and it was just like, did they AI dub this? What's going on? He looks like he should sound like this. I don't know why. Like, uh, I love, I love, that's a good, dude, there's so many different sub-subsacks of, of, of, of, of, genres of act.
Starting point is 00:31:57 Like, like, British, like, I mean, you and I can pick up the subsects of different types of English accents, because that's like what, the language we speak. But I'm sure every other, like, language and stuff has its own sub-sex of, of dialects and accents like that. So I'm sure, like, our ear is not trained to pick it up, but, like, British and American, English and Canadian English, like, there's, there's, Canadian, there's, really just one, and it's just varying degrees of it. It's like a, it's like a slider of how intense it is. Mm-hmm. Where, like, British and American, you really have such a wide variety of, like,
Starting point is 00:32:35 different sounding, uh, variations. You got the Boston accent. You got the southern accent. And then within the southern accent, you have a bunch of different, you got, you have more of like a Texan draw. Yeah, there's like Texas, Charleston. And there's like, deep. South, Creole. You have the California accent. It's just drawing out.
Starting point is 00:32:58 Hey! I guess is that the California accent? I really don't. Yeah, dude. Well, there's different California accents. There's like the Valley Girl. And then there's like the surfer dude. And then there's like,
Starting point is 00:33:08 so I don't pick up on, apparently there is like a generic California accent. I don't really pick up on it. I don't hear. And maybe, I don't know if we have have been influenced Do we have it?
Starting point is 00:33:22 Guys, I'm actually very curious about this. From viewers, from other states, and other countries, when you hear Ryan and I talk, what do you like pin our accents down as? Like, is there California? Do you hear some, you have more southern twang than I do. Oh, see, from my- jealous of that.
Starting point is 00:33:39 From my perspective, I would almost feel, I felt like this way my whole life. And I noticed it because I lived in the South and there were so many people that, you know, you and I grew up, with that would have a Charleston accent or have a southern accent whatever it's just like um i feel like i'm very accentless just because of my parentage i guess my dad is from the north my my mom is from across the sea so a yankee yeah yeah so i don't know like if i i'm sure i like
Starting point is 00:34:09 everyone has an accent right to do to be labeled but i just wouldn't know where to place mine i feel like it's pretty accentless. Yeah, but I mean, that's how I feel about myself too. And I, well, I feel like no one really notices their own accent. Like yours is very, uh, um, to me, uh, like neutral, uh, American, like from my, uh, perspective, because we're from the same state. But you, I feel like I pick up a little more, um, draw. Draw. That's interesting. There was one time there was like a delivery person. They were driving something off at the house and I had the sign for it. And, And I was just talking normally like this. And they were like, oh, you're from the South?
Starting point is 00:34:51 And I was like, yeah, maybe I said y'all or something. But everyone says y'all these days. Yeah, when I first moved to California, I remember the little poser shit I am being self-conscious about y'all. You guys. Yeah, I remember trying to make an active effort at the time to like kind of change my vernacular to say you guys instead of y'all. because I, for some reason I stupidly felt like embarrassed. Because I also, I feel like that was before, like, y'all was really as mainstream as it is now on, like, TikTok and Twitter and stuff, where it's more like not really, it's really not seen as like a Southern slang anymore. It's more as just like a general.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Just a slang. And I was scared that it would make me seem like a Southern simpleton. And now I feel dumb for that. and I would like to apologize to the South. Yeah, you were sounding like sloth from the Goonies. Listen, man, I was... I was trying. I was trying.
Starting point is 00:35:50 You know, and I was trying to really get the California accent down, and I took some missteps, and... Yeah, I'm sorry. But what, do we have a California accent at all? Do we have a... Tell us. What do we have? What do you peg us as? Linguists.
Starting point is 00:36:03 Cunning linguists out there. I need you guys to analyze our voices. Cunning linguists, peg us. Exactly. What he said. Ads. Visit BetMGM casino and check out the newest exclusive. The Price is Right Fortune Pick.

Starting point is 00:36:45 with Eye Gaming, Ontario. Let's be honest. American politics right now is a lot. Every day, there's a new headline, a new crisis, a new thing you're supposed to be outreached about. Frankly, it's exhausted. The Find Out podcast is where we cut through all of it. Every week we break down what actually matters, what's actually at stake, and what you

On my new show, Funny You Add. trivia starts the conversation and then things immediately go off the rails. I ask a question. My guests think they know the answer. Sometimes they do. More often they do not. And then the conversation takes a turn. One trivia question turns into
Starting point is 00:37:35 stories about career highs, painful bombs, and behind-the-scenes moments that probably should have remained private. You'll hear confidence, misplaced confidence, bold guesses, wrong answers, quick laughs, and the slow realization that maybe this was a bad idea to say out loud. Follow Funny You Ask with Ike Barronholds on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Welcome back. I was talking to you, Matt.
Starting point is 00:38:25 And thank you. Welcome back everyone else as well. You guys as well. I mean, y'all have been here. We left. Yeah, we left the room, mainly to go check on Darwin. Yep. Still got the tape on that.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Well, it's turned into tape hands now, full tape hands. Yeah. Did you not notice the tape laces on his shoes? Oh, I didn't know. Yeah. Yeah. So we, you know, we're timid, not great at confrontation, so we didn't say anything. In fact, actually, the opposite, we both complimented the tape hands, which, again, is reinforcing negative.
Starting point is 00:39:00 But we did on the back end, give him a warning. Yeah. Well, you did. I was a little too shy, but... Yeah. But, I mean, not to his face, but just like, so in the future, if we do have to do anything with him, we can always go back to this. The incident is what I logged it as. And it would make it easier to...
Starting point is 00:39:19 Yeah. It's in the system. Yes. Like, that's the important thing. It's on his permanent record. Yeah, not, not, I mean, we haven't said anything to him yet, but it is in the system, so. Until he finds out, we do have a real, like, incident log. It's a spreadsheet.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Luke, by the way, don't think that you're excluded from that. Okay. So, I mean, Luke's list of infractions on there. And, you know, I, I plural, by the way. Oh, yeah. Yeah, Luke's been working for us for a long time. You think there's just one infraction on there? And again, it's probably unprofessional of me to be even talking about this stuff, a, publicly to viewers and B on a public forum where the employee is directly hearing this for the first time.
Starting point is 00:40:08 I'm sure that it's breaking all kinds of ethical employer codes. But, Luke, there's some things that, you know, you got multiple infractions on. Again, we're afraid of confrontation, so we're not going to ever talk to you about them. Most likely, but... The thing is he doesn't know about the bathroom cam, so he doesn't know just how much we have on that. Oh, yeah, yep. You know?
Starting point is 00:40:28 And I will say... Like, not washing your hands in fracture or infraction. Oh, there's that one. There's the... Well, there's the not wiping one, too. And that's tallied itself up quite a bit, hasn't it? Wiping with your hands doesn't count, Luke. And when you combine that,
Starting point is 00:40:44 there have been instances where there's hand-washed infractions with the... Okay, guys. Get off of it. Get off of it. Okay. Well, joke's going to be on you, Luke, when you find out we're not joking and there is a real infraction sheet with, dare I say, upper hundreds? The joke's also all over his right hand. Well, there was that time it was left. True. And a lot of them are just for like untied shoelaces and stuff, but, dude, we should install. I got it.
Starting point is 00:41:17 Ryan, we've been tiring ourselves out by keeping track of these infractions ourselves and logging them. If we set up like security cameras all around the office that ran 24-7 connected them to like a like a server
Starting point is 00:41:34 of like an in-house server and then gave like a flock cameras. Essentially and then gave like an AI bought access to those and we give an instruction. and say, hey, keep these are the different people.
Starting point is 00:41:52 Keep an eye on them and log every action that you see. And then we'll give a parameters for infractions and say, you can be as liberal as you want with them. But log every infraction. Like those Chinese cameras that detect if someone's falling asleep or not paying attention. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:10 Exactly. Exactly. By the way, wake up if you're listening and falling asleep. There's plenty of great hilarious conversation to come. Yep. Like, how we're going to talk about, no. No? We already talked about the Tom Cruise movie. The Tom Cruise movie, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:27 We haven't even seen it yet. Hey. We got tickets in the in between. We all, I took the time that Matt was, was questioning Darwin or observing Darwin more so. No, there was no confrontation. Yeah. I was taking that time to get us tickets to go see Digger. Yeah, the Tom Cruise movie.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Um, you know, I know what we can talk about. Yeah. Speaking of which. Which is? Dude. Okay. So is that, is that not? Well, it is October.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Yeah. Which is, uh, is that not what you were. No, I was going to specifically talk about, um, our, uh, new stream setup. Oh yeah. The co-op streaming setup, which did have its first, uh, rendezvous. We debutted it. Uh, and we, you guys. we're so sweet. We really,
Starting point is 00:43:18 really, really appreciate all the feedback and response you guys have given and the excitement around it because this co-op streaming setup that it was an idea Ryan had years ago. And in classic super mega fashion, we
Starting point is 00:43:34 blabbed about it right away. It took years to... But we actually... It's expensive setup. Yeah. And we're penny pinching right now. So it was the podcast. Yeah, the pot. Well, the podcast set, the stream set, and then
Starting point is 00:43:50 a secret third set that is... I mean, I actually threw the window, I can see Darwin out there. Yeah. I guess attempting to start working on putting up some soundproofing, but it looks like the tape hands. Luckily it's a simpler set. Yeah, yeah, and we've already
Starting point is 00:44:05 spent the money, so it's more just finishing that. But we got it set up, and we did our first co-op test stream, and we played a little... We made a new Minecraft world. Yep. You know, I just real quick, I want to just address something. I've seen a lot of trolls and trollsome troublemakers and haters with a capital H in chat and in the comments of the vaude, trying to just make up these bullshit claims that I, I'm a bad gamer. It's like I've never played Minecraft before. It's like watching a kid play Minecraft. Well, we were getting you to
Starting point is 00:44:44 play with the eye tracking system. I'm kidding. I don't want to go on on big rant. I just wanted to throw that joke. You can continue with what you were saying. No, I actually wish you had. I just realized that I don't want to send us down a hole. I realize like, whatever we do these little jokes, the other one goes yes and,
Starting point is 00:44:58 and then we always like, da-da-da-da-da-da-da. Well, it's because we went to UCB, baby. It's true. We did UCB Improv 101. They taught us just all the fundamentals, and now it's, you know, we always have to yes-and. But, you know, I just want to say everyone that's saying that, I get that that's your opinion, but it's wrong.
Starting point is 00:45:21 Objectively. And come see for yourself this Thursday. Come see on Thursday. And again, you might be a little confusing. Okay, you got a co-op set up stream. What we're talking about, for those who haven't tuned in, is that typically when we stream, you know, we're streaming off of a console or one computer.
Starting point is 00:45:36 So it's Matt and I sitting on a couch. Me playing the game, Matt playing the game, the other one watching. Usually you playing the game because... Unless it's binding of Isaac. I mean, well, no, because then... listen, the trolls are going to use that against me and go,
Starting point is 00:45:49 it's usually why I play in the game because you're a bad gamer. No, no, no, no, it's because I'm a gamer. Well, I'm a gamer too. With a hard R. Yes. Exactly. And I also, you know, I have limp wrists.
Starting point is 00:46:01 It's just a genetic condition. So controls can be, you know, hurt my hands. But I was explaining the setup. The, usually that's how it's set up. Now we have it. So Matt has his own computer.
Starting point is 00:46:15 I have. my own computer. We're both playing the same game. And Darwin, our lovely Darwin, here throw up a picture so people know who we're talking about. We've mentioned them. But now we can actually live, during the live stream, flip
Starting point is 00:46:30 back and forth between mine and Matt's perspectives. And I feel like it gives it a little more energy. It gives it more. Totally. It's fun. And it fits us more. Dude, I had a blast because, like, um, like,
Starting point is 00:46:43 I feel like streaming where we're both sitting on. Okay, first of all, the last setup we had, that couch, like, the lights are dim. That couch is, that couch was comfortable as far. It's tired as hell on the couch. Dude, that is a soft, soft, beautiful couch. Now it's out where it belongs. Yeah, out in the, um, in the work area. Yeah. So, that couch is just like, it's like a siren from the Odyssey singing, you know, me towards it into the ocean, but the ocean is getting tired. Uh, where when I get to see, sit at a co-op desk
Starting point is 00:47:16 next to my best friend and just play some freaking video game time together. Like that keeps me energized and I had a blast. I genuinely like, that's the most fun I've had streaming and I can't even remember the last time I had that much fun. I can't wait to stream more. I'm excited.
Starting point is 00:47:33 More Minecraft, more like Portal 2 maybe. I would love to do that. Old school Roonscape. Yes. Roonscape 4 just got announced. What? There was a trailer. Wait, Runecape 4? Yes. I'm sorry. See, this makes me seem like a fake runescape head, but I'm an old school runescape player, so I don't really keep up with the other stuff. When did Roonscape? RuneScape 4? Because isn't
Starting point is 00:47:56 RuneScape 2 called RuneScape 3 or something like the new age? The mainline Runecape, the one that has been the game since way back, what is currently old school Runecape is like a separate, yeah, it's a separate version of the game. But the original game, which used to be, what old school runescape is now, has always continued, and they've upgraded it and upgraded it, made it RuneScape 3. It looks completely different. When did RuneScape 2 come out?
Starting point is 00:48:24 I want to say like 2012 or something. What was RuneScape? Was it just... No, no, no. Runecape 2 was what old Runecape was. Is what we played? Yeah. We never played original Runecape back in the day. Okay, there was Runecape classic,
Starting point is 00:48:36 which is different from old school Runecape and isn't around anymore. There was a first version of Runecape, which looks completely different from old school, which I fucking wish I could play, because it looks awesome. Dude, if we could play classic RuneScape on stream so Classic RuneScape is 1
Starting point is 00:48:50 The RuneScape You and I grew up with his RuneScape 2 I think so And RuneScape 3 is the new looking one Yeah, they came out And then of course there's Dragon Wilds But that's a side game So RuneScape 4 is huge
Starting point is 00:49:01 Yeah, they announced it They had just like a It was just the title Going RuneScape 4 in development What? Dude, I want to jump on that When it comes up when it releases Yes, because the thing about
Starting point is 00:49:11 I've watched some gameplay of RuneScape 3 where it's one of those things where it's like it looks completely different to me and like foreign but I can still
Starting point is 00:49:22 for the most part I know exactly what they're doing and what's going on they've added so many new things that there's a lot I don't understand when I watch it but there's also a lot of
Starting point is 00:49:31 quality of life improvements that aren't in old school runescape that I'm like oh my God I wish that old school Roancape had that does it feel like
Starting point is 00:49:38 it's the same like it's very it's kept to its roots, its RuneScape roots, or is three like a totally different type of... I mean, it is a completely different game in a sense, I feel, from...
Starting point is 00:49:54 Wow-ish? Yeah, I would say it's more wowish. But again, I haven't played it. I'm just going off of videos I've seen of people playing it. Like, if, when you and I played Runecape way back when we were kids, that account, you could still technically sign into that account
Starting point is 00:50:08 on RuneScape 3 and play RuneScape 3 with all of your old items and stats. That's insane. But it's RuneScape 3. So I would like to give it a try. I've actually heard it's pretty fun. More people play old school Runecape though than Runecape 3.
Starting point is 00:50:22 But now Runecape 4 is coming out. I'm going to have to go hit up the RuneScape subreddit after this and do a little redidding. Because I guess like, it's weird to me. I'm wondering if Dragon Wilds was a kind of monetary success for them. So they're like, whoa, you could just make four. Yeah, it makes me wonder if like, it just kind of seen
Starting point is 00:50:42 the response and the also I mean RuneScape 3 from from what I know is is it's not in browser anymore no no no it's like a client it runs out of it just like old at this point
Starting point is 00:50:56 yeah I'm wondering if it's like because it's just been the same thing that they've updated the framework for over and over I wonder if it's like they kind of wanted to start fresh with like just straight up a new program with modern everything I don't know For me, it's crazy that an MMO kind of took that route because wow's just wow.
Starting point is 00:51:15 It's always, you know, they just released wow forever, which is technically old. It's like old school wow or whatever. So I guess, you know, I just disprove myself in one single sentence. But for the longest time, wow, wow is wow. Wow. Wow is wow. It was wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:34 There was no like wow two, wow three, whatever. It was just new updates came along. just one continuous like upgrading product and it seems like the strategy I'm not even sure to call it strategy
Starting point is 00:51:47 but splitting up your fan base so much like between old school runescape Roonscape 3 and now Roonscape 4 you'll be able to I'm sure transfer your account from 3 to 4
Starting point is 00:51:59 I'm wondering okay so do you think that that's where the leap is there's like I don't know there's always gonna be those nostalgic people who grew up with 3 who are kids playing three
Starting point is 00:52:09 who will always stay there that's what happened with people with old school RuneScape I feel yeah like my um cousin Forrest Uh Add this one to the cousin forest compilation guys Uh
Starting point is 00:52:23 Please don't make that My sexy cousin forest I don't want I don't want him stumbling upon that I mean like Like I don't want there to be an easily accessible collection of everything I've ever said about my cousin Forrest for him to find
Starting point is 00:52:33 But basically He plays Runecape 3 on the same account that him and I used to play RuneScape on when we were younger. That's actually beautiful. He's like, because he's like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:52:48 I've been playing RuneScape, and I was like, dude, no way, we should play. And then I've, yeah, I got the bad news that... He plays three, not old school. Old school, I'm just going to say it, and I'm biased, and I'm letting nostalgia, you know, put a rose pair of glasses,
Starting point is 00:53:05 whatever the fuck they're saying is. Let it, let it. I think old school runescape is superior and again I'm making this judgment without playing three so you can get mad if you want trolls go ahead and yell into the void because guess what I'm not listening Old school runescape superior
Starting point is 00:53:22 What side of the camp are you on people in the comments section Yeah go ahead and edit your comments that you have already left about that. No no no no no no no no no add more comments Yes yeah sorry don't do if I don't want to see a single edited comment No. If you have to edit it, just reply to your comment with an asterisk. Please. And then correct yourself.
Starting point is 00:53:43 Yes, because I was going to say they should edit the comments they left about are accents. But this time, you're right. That's not going to help engage in. Yeah, new comments. The same people commenting several times and we ask them questions. Every question you got to answer. How are you guys doing? You answer in the comments.
Starting point is 00:53:59 I want this to be a conversation. There's already some of you guys on Instagram that kind of that with posts. So it just gets funnier every time. You like milk? You like milk, John? Yeah. I was gonna then do a breastfeeding John Wick thing and I just, I don't know, I just, I didn't feel confident enough about it, so I just didn't do it. It's John Wick.
Starting point is 00:54:25 I know. Okay. American hero. I know. Right? He's American. He's a hero. He's just kind of a guy who killed people for money and then-
Starting point is 00:54:35 Yeah, but he killed bad people. Kill bad guys. That's true. We only saw his side of it. Because he just killed, he was just a hitman. He killed whoever they told him to kill. And then the reason we like him is because he was personally wronged when they fucked his like dog in front of him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:53 And filmed it and uploaded it. And that was just horrible. So he had to go on that whole thing. Which would vigilante justice. You love to see it. Just imagining. Like that's the plot. Do you think the movie would have still been as successful?
Starting point is 00:55:07 No. No, no, God no. Did you hear about the Keanu movie? Yeah, they like fuck his dog. It's a whole scene. Literally a whole scene. Yeah, but basically, what gives him the right to take another man's life? Because you ever think about that dude? In these movies, you only see that character's perspective.
Starting point is 00:55:25 What if, like, he just has a completely skewed worldview and we're seeing it from his eyes. But, like, these other people, you know, they did nothing wrong. Or they think that what they're doing is the right thing. They're not bad guys. Well, more so John Wick, the movie, the first one and then leading all throughout, is about John Wick after he's worked for this whole corporation and for the hotel or whatever. That's why it's like, you're back in, John. Oh, didn't think I'd see you again, John.
Starting point is 00:55:52 I've reinstated your license to kill. Yeah, exactly, like that type of shit. Man, four was just, uh... I was disappointed. I was disappointed. It was too long. It was, and it also just didn't have the same, uh... Like, I remember seeing three in theaters, and that was the, hands down, the most fun theater experience I've ever had in my life.
Starting point is 00:56:13 I like one, two, or three, one, two, and three are a great, like, back-to-back trilogy. I still think one is my favorite. Two is still pretty good, but I still, like, won a lot. I really enjoyed three just because the theater experience, like, my dopamine was, was surging. It's the one with the horses. Yeah, it was. and like they did all the tropes where it's like then like you know he's like walking through like a Middle Eastern desert
Starting point is 00:56:40 and yeah I forgot is that the one that also has what's certain Hallie Barry in it with the dog or is that yeah that is that is three three I think because four is the one with um Bill Scarsguard yep and uh and uh cane and that's what that was the blind character's name because he's blind and uses a cane they named him cane
Starting point is 00:57:02 Oh. Oh. Imagine just naming them no eyes. Hell, no eyes. That sounds like an old blind gangster. True, true, true. Like in the mafia. He just has quarters for eyes.
Starting point is 00:57:18 His name is like... Remember when your grandfather, like your uncle would do that? It looked creepy to me. Oh, it's very scary. Like the coins for eyes gag? It's horrifying. That's usually what's done on dead bodies, huh? Or what was done?
Starting point is 00:57:31 They would put coins. They would put coins over the eyes because I've heard two things. I've heard that there's the symbolism thing about some symbolism stuff. And then the other more realistic one I've heard is like, oh, you know, their eyes open back up
Starting point is 00:57:47 if you don't do, if you don't put something heavy on them. So that seems more likely. Can you just glue them or staple them? Imagine it's. Oh my God, dude. It's just like, just unconscious. Oh shit Oh man
Starting point is 00:58:05 Then you have to get that De stapler thing Which I loved I I remember that thing My dad Would take me to like He would manage hotels
Starting point is 00:58:16 And he would take me sometimes And I was young to the hotel Just because he had to work And there was no babysitter Or something So I'd got to Go in his office And I'd play with that
Starting point is 00:58:25 I'd like create characters Out of the appliances I would pretend it was like a Mario Bad guy Yeah exactly Because it And the stapler It would tear through paper.
Starting point is 00:58:33 Yeah. I'd draw like paper with a face and then I'd make them chew them. Oh, and... It's pretty morbid, I guess, looking back. Well, like, you got two characters. You got the stapler and the stapler remover. Both of them look like they could be characters because they have like the kind of facial... They can talk.
Starting point is 00:58:48 Yeah, they could talk. And also, staplers kind of have the eyes and stuff if you, like, look on the silver part. So, like, they're morbid enemies. You can move them to make it look like they're talking. It makes it seem like... Yeah, it's great. Because staplers can talk. You guys remember talking to the staper?
Starting point is 00:59:05 Oh, and the other little fella. I just realized I said morbid enemies instead of mortal enemies. So I'd like to apologize for that. Thank you for apology. Oh, paper clips you can make characters out of too. Or maybe I just, in my head, it's because of Clippy from Microsoft.
Starting point is 00:59:22 That makes me think that they're anthropomorphic. It could be. I don't know. There's really not too much. You can do any. You can create a human. I mean, Pixar's taught us that you can, anthropomorphize anything
Starting point is 00:59:34 even just emotions. Just a lamp. You can make a lamp into a fucking thing. Yeah. A human being. Dude, I bet he felt that lamp must have felt like a fucking idiot when that happened. He's like dude, he comes in there so confident, so excited
Starting point is 00:59:50 to jump on that fucking ball and then what happens? He gets three bounces in, boom, fun's over. Oh, he's finished all right? That was quick. That's actually what it's supposed to represent. No one knows that. it's a Hollywood secret. Disgusting that they did that.
Starting point is 01:00:06 Oh, Pixar. Used to have it in with Apple big time back in the day. Yeah, because Steve Jobs and some other, some other dudes, like, were... Some other freaks. The way I, like, actually clear my throat made it sound like I was doing, like, some other dudes. That was just a real throat clear.
Starting point is 01:00:25 But, yeah, Pixar was a big, like, Apple adjacent thing in the beginning. It wasn't a subsidiary of Apple, was it? I can't remember the... I just remember learning about it in intro to mass media in high school. So it's been quite a while since I've peered at the information. I just remember they were connected.
Starting point is 01:00:45 No longer, though. Yeah, they... I guess Disney bought them. Yeah. Well, Disney did buy them. Was there a period where, like, was Disney acquiring Pixar like a more somewhat recent thing?
Starting point is 01:00:58 Like, when we were kids and they were doing Toy Story, was that Disney still? Or was that just Pixar as its own studio? No, I feel like I remember seeing like the Disney logo. There was, I feel like there, I thought there was an acquisition by Disney of Pixar at some point. Like they weren't, like Pixar was their own.
Starting point is 01:01:17 Hold on, let me, let me share. Like what, what movies came out when Pixar was like fully independent? Because I'm guessing after the stuff with Apple and they showed that they had some, some nuts on them that could hang pretty low, the movie industry was like, all right, guys. Yeah, you're doing it. Let's give you some movies. Disney completed its acquisition of Pixar on May 5th, 2006 for $7.4 billion.
Starting point is 01:01:41 So in 2006. Dude, $7 billion in 2006 money? That's right around when, yeah, Cars came outish, right? Or what was the... Okay, so Toy Story was not Disney then. What was Disney's first? Probably Cars. Because Cars was 2006, right?
Starting point is 01:02:01 and it's the one that really went no wait the first Disney Pixar movie is Toy Story what was wait okay what did the no no no because it's probably retroactively adding Disney to because it's like what was the first Disney Pixar movie
Starting point is 01:02:15 and it's thinking that that's like overall is a brand said after the acquisition the first Pixar film released after Disney completed the acquisition of the studio in May 2006 was Cars so we were right Cars has that vibe to it too
Starting point is 01:02:29 it's also kind of the series that killed Pixar in terms of making the brand a little less high quality. The first swing and miss? Cars 2 was definitely the first swing and miss. Because you remember up until that point, Pixar was, like, I remember Pixar was held at this regard where it's like every time there is a new Pixar movie, it is the biggest deal, and everyone's going to go see it, and you're going to hear about it, and it's just going to be a classic and they are so good that it's instantly a hit and they don't miss. I mean, dude,
Starting point is 01:03:03 I said it proudly at like back in the time. Like, I remember me too getting like being like, oh, I'm going to see cars too because I know that they don't miss. I know they're going to surprise me and it's going to hit. It's going to be good. And I went and I went to go see cars too. And I remember just going like, oh no. You were in the theaters. Were you thinking that to yourself? I was like, this is bad. And then that I remember. I remember. I remember like getting out of that I was like that is Pixar's first bad movie and it sucks knowing that
Starting point is 01:03:32 because their lineup was just hit after hit after his toy story bugs life Toy Story 2 Finding Nemo Finding Nemo That was like 2002 That was like 2002? Up
Starting point is 01:03:43 Wally Those might have Up and Wally might have been After cars After cars yeah they were I want to say like Wally was like 2008 and up was also Because they did increase
Starting point is 01:03:57 the quality, like Disney, I feel like around then, the quality of the movies got better in terms of like the animation quality and the textures and details? Was Wally 2008? Sorry, it was, it was Toy Story, Bugs Live, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc,
Starting point is 01:04:13 Finding Nemo, and the Incredibles. Oh, damn, dude. So those are like all the hits. Yeah. So it was like, not a bad one in the bunch. And then Cars comes out and people like, eh, but then... Cars was still great, I think. Yeah. Like, it was, it wasn't like the greatest thing, but it was still fun. It was still good. It was Disney. And then even after that, they did Wally.
Starting point is 01:04:31 My favorite. Which I didn't appreciate it at the time, but I feel like if I watched it again, I would appreciate it more. Definitely. We should get, you've only seen it once. I never saw Brave. Brave was okay. I remember going to it not like excited and being like, that was that bad. That was all right.
Starting point is 01:04:49 There's so many, there's like tons of Pixar movies that are out now that I've never even heard of. Oh, they just. started releasing a book. I feel like they had this thing where it's like they worked in tandem with Disney animations and they would still have to make two movies where one was under Pixar
Starting point is 01:05:09 one was under Disney animations type of thing. I don't know or they were just releasing almost like two Pixar movies a year a year sometimes. There's the dinosaur. I felt like the good dinosaur came out the same year as another Pixar movie. Whether it was like Inside Out or some shit like that. Actually I never saw Inside Out. It's all right. Or Up.
Starting point is 01:05:25 Up is good. I've heard. Coco is good I haven't seen Coco is worth seeing I also there's um oh man
Starting point is 01:05:33 what else they did that recent one with the alien um Elio I saw that on a plane I heard it wasn't awful
Starting point is 01:05:39 I wanted to see it I thought it was fun it was fun and then there was the isn't the newest one that the one where like that girl hoppers
Starting point is 01:05:46 she turns into like a beaver that's Pixar I think so I mean it makes sense it's just it seems like um and again
Starting point is 01:05:54 maybe this is you know rose tinted glasses speaking, but it's like, uh, I feel like before the Disney acquisition, every Pixar film felt like a, um,
Starting point is 01:06:07 truly like a passionate work of art. And it was, the primary focus was not, well, obviously, you know, profit is, is there,
Starting point is 01:06:17 but it's like, the, the first motivation felt like, uh, art and passion. Like they wanted to make a beautifully animated movie. That had a story that they, wanted to tell. And then the commercial success would just naturally follow that. Where then after the
Starting point is 01:06:33 Disney acquisition, it felt like everything became like a product. And it's like, how can we merchandise this? Like, how can we make this the most appealing? Well, with cars especially. Yeah. And I mean, it worked. Like, you still, you can go to Target right now and probably find like 50 Lightning McQueen toys. In fact, and Maydard, which you maybe after this episode. I need to get some stuff from Target anyway, I was thinking maybe we could go and just... We can't spend any company money on cars memorabilia. It's not memorabilia, it's toys. And how can't...
Starting point is 01:07:07 Well, let me rephrase that then. We can't spend company money on cars' toys right now. Because, uh... Right now. We need the penny pinch a little... Right now. You know, we're getting better with organization. We're getting better with organization.
Starting point is 01:07:23 We're getting better with scheduling. There's a lot of things we're getting better at. One big thing in a business that you also got to keep in mind is budgeting. Sometimes when we're working on a set and we're excited about it, we tend to throw a lot of the budget at it without kind of, we think about it. And that's the problem. Like we thought about the,
Starting point is 01:07:46 especially you, planning out the podcast set up big time. It's just that when you're excited about something, you tend to go, hey, the money's there. You know, it'll pay off in the end.
Starting point is 01:07:56 and then before you know it it's like holy shit things add up well it's also probably because in you know it's like in your mind when you see a number in a bank account I feel like
Starting point is 01:08:11 a good way to put it probably like is if you look at you know money in like a personal savings account or something that money is going to like dwindle
Starting point is 01:08:26 at a certain rate as you spend it. So you're like, oh, I'm good if I spend, you know, this chunk because then I'll still have this much left where I feel like with a business account for a company, you look at it and you're like, oh, we're good. And then the difference is what you don't take into account with like a personal account is like businesses have to, boom, issue paychecks, boom, insurance, boom, taxes, boom, like all this stuff that just sneaks up that like you don't really think about
Starting point is 01:08:59 and you're like oh fuck the bank account much like I guess a personal bank account like whenever bills are due you get those gut punches oh my god dude you know how many times like one day I'll check this
Starting point is 01:09:11 mega bank account and I'll go okay good awesome and then literally the next day I go what the fuck I know because it's so much gets taken out just because of just running the business in general it's you gotta think
Starting point is 01:09:23 you it's not about just like making, and I feel like most people understand this at this point. And like it's just for those I guess who don't think about it or don't, you know, have their own business and don't really, as I said, think about it that much. But, you know, you all the money you make as a business isn't just the money you make and you get to keep unless you're just like a streamer who it's all about them. And I think that's what a lot of people see. Because they see like influencers and streamers that are like a solo act get a ton of money and get super rich. and that's because they're not really running a business. They're just literally getting money
Starting point is 01:09:58 and then they just get that money. Yeah. And for like us or like the similar kind of set-ups kind of like mega-64, you got to think about employees, you got to think about rent. Health insurance. Health insurance. For employees, for budgeting for content in general.
Starting point is 01:10:15 And I know a lot of, there are streamers to do that. I'm not trying to make it like streamers versus YouTubers. I'm just saying it's like it's definitely a different. set up. Like you have to be making a base amount of so much. You have to make a base amount to be good off the bat. And that base amount is already good amount of money that you're not going to see. Right. And then beyond that is stuff that's going to go towards business expenses. Because I think it is easy to get the misconception that like all online content creators are just just get money flow in. And then it's like, that's our money. Now we're rich.
Starting point is 01:10:54 Which is the case for a big handful of solo creators that don't have a lot of expenses where it's really just sitting at your desk streaming. But, you know, Ryan and I being the intellectuals we are, you know, that didn't satisfy us. We wanted to go one step further and really be entrepreneurs and start a business. But in all seriousness, yeah, it's especially having a business in California. who they the tax man having a business
Starting point is 01:11:26 in California and just general living in California yeah prices are just like I diesel I saw diesel nearby that was 929 Jesus
Starting point is 01:11:34 I'm already like spending so much on gas I can't remember if I was having this I feel like I was having this discussion with Darwin
Starting point is 01:11:41 where it's just like living in L.A you're really like making choices of like should I like fill up half of my tank so that I can
Starting point is 01:11:50 put a little more into grocery, you know, all those little decisions. I feel like L.A. brings that out the most just because of how insanely expensive, not just things are, but just the general cost of living to live here, do plant yourself here. Yeah, it's just a huge amount of money
Starting point is 01:12:08 that you have to put in. And, you know, there's everywhere, just, I'm sure everywhere you can find a cheap, quote unquote, place to live, but then you've got to think about the quality of the place and the area that you're in and, commute. We have so many horror stories of landlords and buildings that are that go awry. And like the those are there are a lot of big downsides. But the upside is that it's cheap and you can live there.
Starting point is 01:12:32 Yeah. So, you know, it's always there's like always factors to weigh with costs. But I still don't think LA cheap is cheap. No. No, no at all, you know. Like LA, LA cheap is is probably like, you know, if you were to go to, uh, some random Like, imagine what L.A. cheap would get you in, like, Iowa, you know? Or, like, Oklahoma. Well, I can directly just, like, South Carolina, because, you know, we got friends who live in South Carolina and have mortgages there. And it's just like, yeah, I would much rather be paying $1,600 a month on a mortgage than thousands on rent. Yeah, it's insane. It's truly insane. And the good news is prices are only going down. They're not Oh shit
Starting point is 01:13:22 What do you mean they're going up? I mean not Not like What, gastrophically You're gonna tell me gas prices Are gonna go up or something? Come on And it's not like the market's like
Starting point is 01:13:31 You know, going up and down And up and down drastically Depending on the whims of one person Hey well my dad said that Actually the economy is doing fantastic right now Because the stock market is doing good And that does reflect the average American's financial
Starting point is 01:13:43 You know state When rich people are happy Poor people are happy Yep. And that's honestly, guys, as we close this episode, which I believe is going to be the last podcast episode on the Super Mega Main channel. There's always a possibility. According to plan. There's always a possibility you might see, hey guys, number four, just ha. But I think that's kind of a great lesson to leave it at. When rich people are happy, poor people are happy. End scene.

Every single week we get sucked into a dungeon by an evil space wizard named the Quizard, and we can't leave until we each give three of the most interesting and obscure facts we can find on whatever topic he asks. Sure, we get abducted against our will, ripped away from her families and lives as we know them, but we have a good time. And we get to learn. And we get to teach. And once we give the Quizard enough facts, he sends us home, Big Whop.
Starting point is 01:15:28 If that sounds fun to you, and why wouldn't it? Then why don't I get sucked up with us into the Quizards Pit every single Monday? That's Quizert's Pit.
