Starting point is 00:01:20 This back-to-school season, spend less on your kids with Amazon. Hi, I'm Laura Clary, mom, chaos coordinator, and social. someone who has learned the hard way that back-to-school season is basically a second mortgage. Last year, my daughter decided she absolutely needed this very specific backpack, not just any backpack, the backpack. I found it, I bought it, I sent her off on the first day of school. She lost it by week two, gone forever. So remember, with Amazon's low back-to-school prices, just spend less on your kids because every dollar you don't spend on them is a dollar, you haven't spent on them.

After the what? After the cold open, I'll go grab my monster. I left you. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:02:45 The cold open. I mean, I don't have any ideas for the cold. Okay. You just go. Should I just go grab my monster energy drink now? Think of ideas for the cold open while I'm gone. I'll go get it now. And then we're back. We'll record a like a funny, one of your funny bits. Yeah, just go get your monster and then, yeah, sounds good. Watch this. This is going to be some bad A word, S word. I just don't want to swear this early on, but bad. Got it got. Yes. Yeah. I understand. The A word and then the S word back to back. Yeah, not at. Those are not one word. This is going to be some dope A.S.
Starting point is 00:03:39 Yeah. Yeah. Watch this. Took a sip of my white monster and I have become the white monster. The white monster was inside of you all along. There is some inside of me right now because I already had a little bit before we started the show. It just need to be unleashed in the perfect moment. I had to unleash the beast. There's a little white monster in all of us. There is. And I got to say, man.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Oh, yeah, Unleash the Beast. That's still their catchphrase. Remember that video? Oh, my God, dude. This had to be like 2011. Were the two brothers are making out? No. Well, I do remember.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Yeah. I'm specifically talking about, let's not keep that in. Huh? Let's not keep that. It's the island boys. Roll the clip, Luke. God.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Luke, please. Please put it in. It's the most uncomfortable thing. Yeah, it's very, I mean, some places that's illegal. Thank God it's not in California. Is it? Because we're funny brothers. But we don't make out.
Starting point is 00:04:49 No. We do. No, we don't. We make it seem like we would, but we don't act. Like, it's not like there's like, there's like, some sort of tension built up while filming and then we get rid of it after or anything like that. No, because that would be gay. And we're not.
Starting point is 00:05:05 No. But I was going to, what I was going to say was that video, you guys might remember this. It's from like, it's very old, but it's like the older, like middle-aged white woman. She's at almost like a convention. Sorry, I, like, like a Comic-Con convention. Kind of. She's at a table and she's, maybe it's a Christian convention, but she's showing off a can of monster and she's like breaking down how it's satanic and like how um sounds like an AI video
Starting point is 00:05:33 don't drink monster monster's terrible for you it's bad for your body that's it's it's screw that she doesn't make any points from what i remember about it being bad for your body it's about it's bad for your spirit because uh she points out that like oh the logo when you flip it upside down it it looks like some hebrew thing that means the devil and i remember that in like group. Right. It's like, they're like kids just being like, no, you don't drink. Don't drink that.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Like, that's like the sign of the beast. Yeah. And I remember she says, bottoms up and the devil laughs. And then they held you up. Yeah, okay. Very funny, Ryan. What? Very funny.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Come on. It took me a second to like, for that joke to click. I was like, what am I doing there? I wasn't there when she did this presentation. And then I realized, yeah, bottoms up. Yeah. They're raising you up in their end, like in the crowd. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:24 You're crowd surfing. You raise me up so I can stand on mountains. You raise me up so I can part the sea. It's Moses singing in. I thought it was Josh Grobin. The original recording. It was in a shell. No, it was in a bottle that he corked.
Starting point is 00:06:51 And then historians uncorked it. You raise me up. And they, the thing is they only got to, you can only hear it once. So they had to recreate it the best that they could. So technically it's not the original vision. Right. There's still a little bit of it left in that bottle. It's in the Smithsonian and Josh Grobin was the, they, Moses had a beautiful voice.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Sounded actually just like Josh Groven. Imagine if reality worked, like, if science and all that shit worked in a way where like you could find like an empty, or like a closed empty bottle or something, open it up and like you could store sounds in it. Dude, that'd be so sick. Oh, what's this one say? Dude, we would prank each other so good with that. We'd be farting in empty bottles all the time. I mean, you could still do that, and the prank still is a real prank there. It just...
Starting point is 00:07:34 farting in a empty bottle? Yeah, because, I mean, it just unleashes a bad smell instead of a sound. Yeah, speaking of unleashing the beast, you know? Exactly. It's actually funny. We're talking about the ancient recordings because apparently... You know how, like, record players and stuff work where, like, super tiny. little grooves and it like converts that into sound waves.
Starting point is 00:07:58 They took some old pottery from like Egyptian times because when they're spinning it around they were like, oh, what if this is kind of like a record because they're using like tools to like scrape the sides of it as it's spinning. So they were able to like pull some sound from it the same way they do with like vinals and it was pretty interesting. Did it sound fun? Is it something that could be sampled? It sounded pretty rough
Starting point is 00:08:25 But it See and I don't know if it's an example of like Parodolia where it's like your mind is like Trying to find connections It sounded like there was some something there Our brains are always trying to find connections But that's the thing It's like it could have just literally been
Starting point is 00:08:40 Like you could scratch a record needle Across just about anything That's what it sounds like You could use that in like a horror movie You can hear stuff You can hear it's the Patrakus pot. Mythbusters actually did a thing.
Starting point is 00:08:58 So I looked into it and apparently this was experimentally proven to be possible. That is technically possible for sound to be imbued and recorded into similar such objects like a spun urn or pot, but only under a certain set of conditions. And those conditions have only been met under the constraints of laboratory experiments. But archaeoacoustics is an emergent field
Starting point is 00:09:16 of research and it is pretty fascinating. What is possible with focused laser technology? Shut up, nerd. Fucking Jesus. I don't know about it. know anything about lasers besides laser pointers and how fun those are to point at airplanes. Oh my God. They freak out. They, they, if that was the effect of pointing one at an airplane, it starts, well, the cops will find you quick and arrest you. I mean, that's the thing. It's a federal
Starting point is 00:09:41 crime. It's pretty serious. Oh, it's a super federal crime. And it's funny because, oh, I forgot the classification. It's not just a federal crime. You don't want to, you don't want to do that. it's funny because I guess from the ground you feel kind of invincible right because you're so small that plane's so far away and you're like
Starting point is 00:10:01 they're not going to find me but when you think about it they're up in the sky looking down and it's literally the most perfect direct line to your location it's just a straight arrow pointing at you and it's dangerous as hell
Starting point is 00:10:13 yeah because you're gonna you might have too good of a time well you might point you might point it in your friend's eye when you turn around to get his to see what his reaction was. Have you ever... Dude!
Starting point is 00:10:25 Oh shit! You know? You ever been flashed with a laser pointer in the eye? Like one of the red ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Lenton, I don't... Those, like, high-beam green ones are insane. I've been, um, something that...
Starting point is 00:10:40 Listen, I've shown restraint. I've, I've matured because when I was like 24, maybe, I would have just... A young sprout. Yeah, I would have just done this. I would have pulled the trigger a million, times already. But I found like the highest
Starting point is 00:10:56 power laser pointer that you can get that's not like one for commercial purposes. Which the regulations on lasers is actually pretty like you can get some
Starting point is 00:11:10 some fucking insane lasers and it's a wait till I tell you about guns. Please. Yeah. Like anyone can just go buy a gun and shoot it. I,
Starting point is 00:11:21 but the, laser pointer is called a striker and it's something that I have so like for years been tempted to buy but the thing is it's like it's expensive and I can't justify it I can't justify spending like it's like two 300 bucks I can't ever justify spending that much on a laser pointer what's the use of like what would someone be using that laser pointer for me it's it's shot it's like a shock and awe thing it's uh like it's green and it is first of all it's like this big it's like the size of a fucking flashlight. And I've seen videos of it.
Starting point is 00:11:53 And you can like instantly pop a balloon with it. It's that bright. It's like it'd be like a line of balloons. You can just, you have to remember just in case this ever creeps on you and you're like, this might be the time. The great words of Uncle Ben. The rice guy?
Starting point is 00:12:09 No. Although he's phenomenal rice. Love is right. It's great. It's great. Uncle Ben's rice. No. With Ben Parker.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Oh, Spider-Man. With great power There is a necessary and need for you to be a responsible person and you got to use that power No matter the means because you're a responsible person Okay Yeah Well, I'll remember I will remember that next time I want to I want to buy it because Do you actually not remember the quote? No it's with great power comes great responsibility
Starting point is 00:12:44 But I was trying to do the Okay, okay Hold on let me see I thought you were pulling your phone out to look it up because you actually couldn't remember it. These lasers, though, you can look at videos of them being like, dude, in the sky, it's just a straight green line. And that's one of the lasers that if you were to shine it at an airplane, you are going
Starting point is 00:13:03 to prison probably. Back to Spider-Man. Yeah, sorry. I got the quote. I was trying to quote the Amazing Spider-Man's version of it. The Amazing Atheist's version of it. Okay. Here's, in The Amazing Spider-Man, how they had the Ramey ones, and then they had the
Starting point is 00:13:19 the Mark Webb, I think, directed ones. I know, crazy, right? That's funny. That is, that's, the joke writes itself. They didn't want to use the same line with great power comes great responsibility because they're like, we got to come up with our own. And this is what they decided to come up with. You really are, Peter, and that's a good thing.
Starting point is 00:13:37 But your father lived by a philosophy, a principle, really. He believed that if you could do good things for other people, you had a moral obligation to do those things. That's what's at stake here. not choice responsibility it's like hey bro can I see the homework
Starting point is 00:13:54 just don't copy it word for word it's like when you look at Wikipedia you're like elongating like the sentences to make sure you hit that like word or page count I do that the fuck you have a moral obligation to do those things that's what's at stake here not not responsibility
Starting point is 00:14:11 it's exactly what I did on when I was designing the t-ball cards for the fun fact on the back of Well, I told you specifically, I really just want the, just like my fun fact to be about, one, how much I like Jeff Gordon, number 24 NASCAR. Right, right. One of the greatest NASCAR drivers of all time. Roll the clip.
Starting point is 00:14:30 I do let him got his head off. And then the second thing was just like, in that, the whole thing then just has to be talking about Jeff Gordon, how good of a NASCAR driver he is. But I wanted to a lot. Like, I just, I literally just took the Wikipedia, like, first paragraph, and then I just, like, I just elongated it. You added the word race car as shit. I just, I, race car, a racing, like a race race race, a racing race car. It was like a racing car, like, I swapped a much.
Starting point is 00:15:09 There'd be like a, like a race car racing driver or like, uh, some of you probably already have your copy of the car. Oh, by now when this episode comes out, yeah, you should have your T-ball cards. Uh, but dude, I. I in high school, in middle school, remember, well, not just that. I mean, college too, the one year I went. I remember, God, just the bullshit of essays where you're just like trying to copy Wikipedia without copying Wikipedia. And back then, I mean, like, dude, we're lucky that we went to college before AI. Because are we, though?
Starting point is 00:15:49 I mean, it would have helped. Like a chat, GBT. Just, hey, could you write a paper? I could see myself 100% using some form of, like, chat GPT to, like, whip up shit for me real quick. I was a lazy student. Oh, I was a procrastinator. I was also a procrastinator. I mean, now in our 30s, you would never know that we were once procrastinators and bad at getting work done.
Starting point is 00:16:18 No. I will say I can admit it now, right? No, maybe I shouldn't. Am I going to get in trouble? No, I didn't even get a degree. They can't, like, revoke my degree. No.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Just like, I remember I was writing an essay for a class, which I won't name, but it was on a book, and I didn't read the book. Was it like a sign of protest for? the price of the, like, textbooks? You're writing essay on the book? It wasn't a textbook.
Starting point is 00:16:53 It was just a... Come on. Sorry, sorry. Say that again? You were writing the essay on the book? Was it a form of... As if, you know, you're writing an essay on the book itself? Like, physically.
Starting point is 00:17:04 I like that. That's great stuff. Roll the clip. Oh, shit. Fuck wrong. Man, push fuck down. Man, what that shit? I just get the fuck.
Starting point is 00:18:01 I don't know. Oh, whoa. The fay won't be the hell out of here. Fuck that. I'm gonna beat that bitch that. I ain't get the fuck out of me. You little ugly bitch. You're a little ragged-eyed.
Starting point is 00:18:29 That's a racket-ass kid. My bitch, go by me a shirt. I ain't blew a shit about me a t-shirt, bitch. Ain't no way around. Money fell, man. I got you. Yeah, go back to sleep, bitch. I got you.
Starting point is 00:19:05 That bitch. that bruh, br-ha-ha-ha-ha- get that shit and I'd have to say, get that shit hey, you're gonna get that fuck on the nigga on the nigga off
Starting point is 00:19:13 and I'd ever say, get that shit. Oh yeah. Put the mustard clip there. Yeah. The whole thing. But, thank you, Luke.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Thank you. But I, I didn't read the, the book. Well, okay, to be fair, I read,
Starting point is 00:19:36 I read some of it. I read a little bit. But I was, I mean, it was boring as fuck, dude. It was, it was about,
Starting point is 00:19:42 well, I'm not going to say, I don't want to give away too much. But there was a friend at the time who was in the same class who we went to the library together to work on our essays, you know, work on our essays. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll, huh? That's right, all three of those things.
Starting point is 00:20:02 But basically, I was like, hey, can I see your paper? And I didn't plagiarize. I just, I took inspiration. Yeah. And I kind of did like just, I would be like, that's an interesting paragraph. And he knew I was doing this. And I kind of just, you know, it's like fair use, right? It's transformative.
Starting point is 00:20:26 And then we turned them in. And he got like a C minus. And I got like a higher grade. I got a 90. So it just goes to show. I feel like I remember that story. I feel like I remember the ending of like you essentially. copying someone and then getting a better grade than they did.
Starting point is 00:20:45 And they were pissed. Well, it might not have been exactly a 90. It's just what my brain is remembering now. But it was definitely, it was a good grade. It wasn't like bad. And his was, uh, there was room, there was more to be desired out of his grade. But it makes sense, right? Because I took what he had done and I improved it.
Starting point is 00:21:06 So it only, it's only logical that I. Yours probably sounded more human because he copied from the textbook. and you made it into your, you even changed it more than he changed it, so it sounded more normal and natural. Exactly. Exactly. And I'll tell you, man. Like a game of telephone that actually works for the better. Right, where the end result is, it's even better than the original thing that was telephones. Because it sounds like, you know, textbooks are like written by computers these days probably too. Well, I mean, they're written by nerds. And I don't know why my voice almost,
Starting point is 00:21:41 It sounded like an audio. It's good ad. Start your Alienware journey with the streamlined Alienware 15. Starting point is 00:24:18 Enjoy responsibly. And huge thanks to Indi Cloud for helping everyone enjoy the return of routine without giving every new responsibility a starring role. This back-to-school season, spend less on your kids with Amazon. Hi, I'm Laura Clary, mom, overthinker, and someone who has a complicated relationship with a back-to-school supply list. Can we just be honest for a second? Kids are expensive. Last year, I went all out on my daughter's school supplies, color-coded folders, the fancy pencil case, gel pens and 17 colors she absolutely needed. By October, she had one pencil left. One. I don't know what happened to the rest, and honestly, neither does she. Amazon has everything your kids need for back to school at prices that won't make you
Starting point is 00:24:58 want to cry in the school supply aisle. Great prices, huge selection, and when half of it goes missing by October, at least you didn't break the bank. So remember, with Amazon's low back-to-school prices, just spend less on your kids because every dollar you don't spend on them is a dollar you haven't spent on them. No, but seriously, I don't know what's going on. It was like a voice crack, but it sounded like a time, like reality glitch for a second. You heard it? I did. You all ready for another fever dream episode? Roll the clip. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. You got half an eye roll there. He went, oh, I'll get a full eye roll by the end of this podcast. I got something planned for you, Luke. Oh, and I got something planned for you after the podcast, Luke, that's
Starting point is 00:25:50 going to have your eyes rolling in the back of your head. Right before we go to the next ad reads, I'm going to run out of the room and punch him as hard as I can in the back of the head. I don't think he'd fight you. If I did it, he wouldn't be able to. Exactly. He'd go, he'd pass out, and then he'd come to him and it'd be like, ah, did you see that? Darwin just ran into the room and sorry, man, it clocked you. It's his first week full time. and he just thinks he owns the place now. Dude, you're going to run in there and like slap him in the back of the head and he's going to like,
Starting point is 00:26:23 doof, hit his keyboard, and you're going to run out giggling. And then we're going to come out, come out in an hour at the end of the podcast and be like, hey, loot. And he's still faced out. There's like blood on. And then it's,
Starting point is 00:26:38 we have to run. We have to grab these SD cards immediately. Delete all evidence. I see. We're formatting them and then we're getting rid of them. But the thing is, I don't even... See, I worry that if we've even put them in a computer to format them, that somehow there's data, right?
Starting point is 00:26:55 Digital forensics could probably be like, hmm. So if Luke were to come to in that situation, though, he wouldn't tell on me. I wouldn't tell on you? No, he wouldn't tell on me, right? Like, snitching is kind of a... It's a bitch move. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:27:12 If I beat that podcast editor up. Is you going to tell on me? Luke, would you tell on me? Yeah, Luke. You can throw up a text response. Go ahead and call the cops on your good friend, Ryan McGee. See how that goes. I thought we've had a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:27:28 I feel like I've earned one friendship mistake with Luke. You know? Do you think you tell on me? If I beat that pussy up is you going to tell on me. If I beat that Luke up, if I beat Luke Hetty up as you going to. Should I do? What if I just went right now? just gave him a tiny little just
Starting point is 00:27:45 slap. What if you gave him a purple nerple? What do you think Luke's legitimate response to a purple our podcast editor? Luke's response
Starting point is 00:27:54 to a purple nerple would be. I think Would he storm out for the day? No, but I think if I did it, I think he would do a really
Starting point is 00:28:05 reflexive. What the fuck was that? Be like, just fuck stop. I can tell you. What was that? Seriously. I'll go do it right now.
Starting point is 00:28:13 I just don't come back. I wish we just had like a I guess Hey I mean I could go and we came back with some black eye As in you come back with a black eye A black eye A blackened eye Yes
Starting point is 00:28:29 That's what they should call it That's what they should call it Because if it's like it's like Oh man I went out drinking last night And woke up with a black eye Sounds like you went out and that sex with like Me too right exactly See
Starting point is 00:28:41 Winner winner chicken dinner You know what I'm saying that's what you say at the end of Fortnite when you get a victory royal and I would say having sex with a man requires that no right
Starting point is 00:28:56 why would it well no just because the black guy thing what about it the black eye this is cut out of context I'm going to think I'm saying the black guy thing I said the black eye like the black guy peas the black eyed peas God
Starting point is 00:29:08 I do like when we had the conversation about hopefully they realize their mistake and one revert to their original name, The Black Guy's Peas. I mean, they already changed that one song, so I mean, they're known to retcon things. You know, they could do it.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Dude. Do you think they'd be as popular if they were called the Black Guy's Peas? Or the Black Guy Peas. The Black Guy Peas. It's so stupid. Wait, like Peas is in like... Urinates.
Starting point is 00:29:39 Like, yo, dude, have you heard the Black Guy Peas? Pretty loud. Sounds like Someone's got a friar on or something You know I never understood that And then I was like Oh, because when you're like frying something
Starting point is 00:29:54 It's like It's loud It's very loud And And like Like I think if the Are the black eyed peas even still together? Like when's the last time you
Starting point is 00:30:04 Like In spirit What's the last release? Right Like 2013 The last time I remember a black eyed piece song being big, I can think of was like, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
Starting point is 00:30:19 got to get that. Boom, boom, boom. The album are with the wireframe. Oh, so sick, dude. I'm looking up on Spotify. That's the same album that has, uh, I got a feel it. Dude, that song is good. That's a night's gonna be a good night.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Well, see, it's not showing, I need to look at the discography. Yeah, and then go to albums and stuff and then. Oh, the most recent is 2023. What? Was just the expanded edition of the Elefunk album? Which does not count. A lot of artists will do that where it's like, just to keep profiting, they'll release a deluxe of a really old album. Elefunk came out in 2003.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Mm-hmm. It did. Did they release any new tracks or something? No, it's probably just tracks that were, like, going to be on it. So the last actual album was 2022 called Elevation. Wait, why are there only three of them? Oh, Fergie's not there. Let's see them.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Let's try one out. What do you think? We got audio, double D's. With, who's that featuring? Jay, Ray Soul? This is the black eyed, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
Starting point is 00:31:27 This is the black eyed peas? How'd they go from, Wait, gotta save the world, baby, oh, you'll however that song goes. I think I, I think I nailed it. No, in essence, yes. In essence, yes. We could probably get away with playing
Starting point is 00:31:43 that like just that little short part that like Luke can play that little short thing that not what I expected out of No that that completely black eyes You could see our faces like show Look at the music video like the little It's all it's actually about double Ds It's not like a play on words
Starting point is 00:31:57 It's just oh it's about breast Yeah it is about there's Will I am Wow And there's some breasts Well they're they're clothed Just so everyone knows They're not like Damn should we just play this real quick
Starting point is 00:32:10 Yo yo like We're talking I got a feel Yeah, yeah, yeah. That tonight's gonna, you know, that, those same Malachide piece created this. Ready? A bit of a long. Holy fucking fuck. Holy fucking fuck. Like that, is that, that's the opening line to.
Starting point is 00:32:28 I think so. Or he said homie fuck. I think, I think holy, but every single title is in all caps. They have caps lock turned on when they were typing. It was a mistake. It was a mistake in the studio. One of the track titles is called Philippina Queen, and I'm just interested to hear what the black eyes rendition of
Starting point is 00:32:43 Philippina Queen. Maybe it's, there's that, do you remember from Guitar O'3, that song, Mississippi Queen? Mississippi Queen. Philippina Queen. Can I just? Yeah, I would love to hear it.

Starting point is 00:35:13 called Filipino Queen. It ain't no boom boom pow, I'll say that much. Hell no. Was Fergie the glue that held the black-eyed peas together? When did Fergie leave? Why did Fergie leave the black-eyed peas? Then there's translate. Probably because she had such a, she was doing such a successful solo career.
Starting point is 00:35:28 The last album that Fergie was on was in 2009, 10? She left after the boom boom power era, right? Well, there's this era where they're all eight-bit people on that. Oh, dude, I remember that. The beginning. Because this is the album I remember. Yeah, 2009. Oh, dude, the end with the wireframe.
Starting point is 00:35:48 That's classic. Ella Funk is just... Wait, dude, David, now I'm called Monkey Business. 2004? Look at that. Don't funk with my heart. See? My Humps.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Oh, that's, okay. My humps, my humps. I thought that was just a Fergie song, not a black-eyed pea song. Yeah, I thought so, too. Check it out. But see, that's- Come around. Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. That's probably why she left.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Because she, see, you remember that as a Fergie song? And she said, what am I doing with these three dudes? And Jay Raysol. I'm guessing he's just one of the other black-eyed peas that wants to be credited specifically for certain songs. Is B-O-B one of the black-eyed peas? There's no way B-O-B is one of the black-d-pies. Why do I?
Starting point is 00:36:28 That's, where did he come from? Because you remember just out of no. Never heard BOP. He believed that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars. Who sings that part? Haley Williams. Oh, from Paramore. But then Bobb comes in,
Starting point is 00:36:43 If you really want to ba-b-b-d-da-hab-da-da. Something like that. And then there's also, he was not only with Paramore, he's all the sudden just boom, on a track with, you're a whore. I don't, I really like Haley Williams. And I don't think she's a whore. Maybe in her private life she is, and that's her business
Starting point is 00:37:04 because I believe a woman can choose what she wants to do sexually and who she has sex with. But BOP was on that track of Bruno Mars too. Beautiful girls all over the world. More like Bruno Tard. If he's in the Shaycarl universe. Oh, we have a special guest coming up.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Bruno Tard. Just Fergie Tard. Don't call me, though. The black-eyed tards. Dude, God, why aren't the shatards keeping up with the times these days? Why don't we have a, why don't we, like, why do we have keeping up with the Kardashians? We could have keeping up with the shaytards. I would watch that.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Like a television show. Like with drama and, I mean, there's plenty to go around. I used to binge the shatards back in the day, man. I, I was, it was in high school. High school Ryan would watch the shatards and go, oh, what's this next episode? I go, boop, boop, boom. next next next i think it was 2023 i had um prezzo and uh and hoover and and oxel they were crashing on my couch for like a week at my um my mansion and you're hostile yeah at my hostel and uh
Starting point is 00:38:25 i would like come downstairs and the three of them would be in my living room just crowded around the tv just drinking and watching shay tarts and i would just i'd just i'd remember I had not really actually like seen any Shay Tards blogs. I knew who he was back from the day, but so I sat down on the couch and um I started I started watching Shatards with them and I, we watched a lot of Shatards. I watched when Suntard, uh, departed for his, his Mormon mission. His mission trip. Yeah. In South America, I think or Central America. That was after my time of watching them. That's when he grew up a little bit. Yeah. Um, dude, he was going away for like three years of some shit. See my era was when they were doing the like lose weight challenges where they
Starting point is 00:39:06 do like every day or every week. It's like him, his brother, just a gaggle of people. Whoever lost the most weight got to pelt the others with water balloons or whatever the fuck it was. I don't know. I can't remember. The Team Edge Weight Loss challenge. I remember, uh, then we watched one where she's giving birth and he's like vlogging in the hospital. See, that's, that one I was surprised got put on YouTube because you see like the whole. Oh, you see it crowning. You see. all the after I mean you see the whole pussy but then we watched one
Starting point is 00:39:38 that was like right after the the controversy with him and it's like He accidentally uploads the toilet cam Yeah Which it was him so it wasn't It was you know And he claimed he had it
Starting point is 00:39:51 He had it for fully innocent reason For his doctor basically But he wakes up I just remember this one He wakes up in a hotel room and first thing he does is he grabs the camera like he's getting out of bed and he's like hey guys this is like during the separation yeah he's in a hotel room and he wakes up and he's like talking to the camera and he is like trying to be really positive and he's like you know things are really hard
Starting point is 00:40:20 but we're gonna have a good day we're gonna go down and get some hotel breakfast and he's like fighting back tears and he's actually like choking up you can see tears in his eyes and he goes and gets in the elevator and has some hotel breakfast but i just remember i was like why are you Why are you still vlogging right now? The vlogging era is kind of like You put the camera down. Turned into something else. You don't really get as many like,
Starting point is 00:40:41 You remember daily vlogging was like The thing to do for a lot of entertainers. I feel like Shane Dawson did vlogs. I Justin maybe. I justine, the BF versus GF. The vlog brothers? There were a lot of just like vlogging daily was like a thing.
Starting point is 00:40:59 And now it's turned into live stream. Yeah, IRL streaming. IRL streaming, which is like the daily blogging. Well, I talked about this a few episodes ago, or maybe I don't remember, maybe last episode where it was like I was looking at that infographic where it's like how things have become more like streamlined for instant dopamine instead of like a more like delayed gratification. And that's like an example of it because before you'd have to film, upload the footage
Starting point is 00:41:29 to your computer, then you'd have to edit it. and then thumbnail, title, all that, where then the more streamlined, faster dopamine is just instant, you don't have to do any work. You just literally go live, there's no editing. It's like, hey guys, blah, blah, blah. You know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:43 We should just be, why are we not IRL streaming like 24-7 at the office? Whenever we're here together, cameras on, we're streaming. Sounds miserable. Yeah. See, that's the part of like IRL streaming. It's just like, you're never like able to turn off and calm down or maybe like that's the it's like you're you're more real
Starting point is 00:42:07 or something on live i really don't know it's just like for making content here like doing the podcast or live streaming uh when when we do it during the week or just even the general video sketches yada yada that we make there's always a form of like okay we get to clock in and then clock out mentally for like the entertainment aspect when it comes to iRL streaming There's barely any room. Your life is fused with it. So it's like I feel like, this sounds weird.
Starting point is 00:42:38 I don't know how to really explain this. There's like a, there's like a, there's a content personality and then like a real life personality. We're like the content is just like shown up a little bit. I feel like live streamers have to have those two meld a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Right. Because they're constantly, like imagine every day going live for like, to nine hours. What about six to seven hours? Okay. I can't like you and I, I mean obviously when we're on, for the most part, podcast or stream or whatever, it's like we're not putting on characters.
Starting point is 00:43:13 Like this really is us. But obviously, you know, there's like an element of like, you know, you enunciate your voice performance a little bit more just because it's. We're more comfortable with each other than like, this isn't how we would act in like a room of strangers. Right. and I are comfortable, so like we're a little, we're like goofier. I mean, we feel a little more comfortable to, you know, say some shit.
Starting point is 00:43:34 We project our voices. But, like, I mean, this is how you and I talk to each other just off camera normally. Maybe we talk a little softer off camera. Maybe a little bit. Maybe there's some sweet nothing's being whispered or sometimes. It's not nothings. Yeah, they're not nothings. I'll tell you.
Starting point is 00:43:50 They're definitely not nothings. So how are y'all doing? That's good. Yeah. Some of them said good, I'm sure. I am very excited. We have not been sharing a lot, but we have been, the last few weeks have been more productive than like the last year and a half.
Starting point is 00:44:19 The whole month of August, because we've been in this office for a couple years now, and it's just kind of like, it's, I see, I, I said this when we first moved in. It's like I would hate to like get 70, 80% done and then it just stopped there. And we both were like, that would suck. Fast forward like a year and a half or whatever. And it's like, oh shit, we are at that point where like it got almost there. Like the walls are painted.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Everything's set up. There are different areas to film different things. But it's not like what I don't know. When we were in, when we visited Meek Canyon, just seeing like, like his setup. Which is insane, incredible. It's so cool. And I remember seeing that and both of us were both like,
Starting point is 00:45:04 yeah, it really lit a fire under our asses because like Super Mega has definitely been in a pretty stagnated state for an extended period of time and intermittently will drop like some like
Starting point is 00:45:20 legendary stuff in between. But overall it's more stagnated and I feel like we have just been very lost. And we'll talk about this more in depth later, but it's like we've kind of felt like directionless. And it feels like we've been in a rut. And lately we've kind of been doing the work to pull ourselves out of it.
Starting point is 00:45:42 And it's felt really good. The whole month of August has been us trying to kind of just make sure things are a lot more organized. That's like a very simple way of saying it. Really, it's making sure that last 20% of the office is like finished out that. Oh, yeah. We've been really working on that. Like with all the mail videos and with all this, you know,
Starting point is 00:46:08 the stuff that we got in terms of trying to set up the office and not knowing exactly what's going to be said. But it's like, oh, we need, we need some cameras. We need some batteries. We need some mics. We need some mics. You know, over the, we need some cables. Over the course of all that, we've accrued, uh, just a, an amalgamation, an avalanche. you will, of items and equipment that is just taking up so much space that it doesn't need to
Starting point is 00:46:33 and is kind of like not getting in, it gets in the way of productivity to an extent just because you know, it's that classic, you find a cable, use it, you don't remember to put it back and eventually it just gets lost along the way. And now we've got everything organized. We found all the cables and it's like, holy shit, we have like 20 of the same cable we don't need. A varying like speeds and quality. Because. Because like, you know, it's like when you get like a cheap, like, oh, we get a cheap electronic for one video. And it comes with a micro USB or a USBC. It's a really cheap quality one, but we just throw it in the pile.
Starting point is 00:47:08 So then we're stuck with like a bazillion different ones and we don't know like what's good, what's bad. So we've been doing like a ton of reducing and there's still a lot more. Like we just have so much stuff that we've accrued over the last decade. because I don't know about you personally. I'm definitely a bit of a pack rat where I hold on to things, mostly for sentimental value, but also for the aspect of like,
Starting point is 00:47:37 oh, but I might need this. This could be blah, blah, blah, blah. Which is hilarious because a lot of the things where your head goes, I might need this. It's just stuff that you end up just seeing in a corner or like stuff that you don't even pay attention to anymore. It's like it creates a spark of,
Starting point is 00:47:52 joy for the sentimentality maybe at that time frame, but like the amount of junk that, like, for instance, I think costuming is like, was a big one. We cleared that out a good bit like a couple months ago, but it's, we still have. We had, we still have a good bit, but we had so much shit where we were like, oh, well just keep it. You never know. It's good to have. Yeah. In my mind, honestly, Mega-64 was the example for that. Just because when, at Mega-64's, multi-billion dollar complex their headquarters they have like a floor like it's like an attic area where they have just oh my god just unlimited costumes like everything they've ever used saved and in my head i was like that'd be great because anything we ever need for a video we have it
Starting point is 00:48:39 but then i also remember well we don't have a like an attic floor like they have a whole space like we have some clothing racks uh that are overpiled with like what are we going to do like why do we have a chef outfit. Like when are we going to use this, uh, Pharaoh costume again? Yeah. Like this, this Dracula office. And, and we keep that shit because in our heads, it's like, oh, maybe another Halloween video in the future. And then we have to pay for it again. So we'll just keep it. But things really, I mean, that's, that is my mindset with keeping things usually. And I need to work on that. With the Marie condo this shit. Yeah. I was literally about to say, I need to reread that book because I read that book when I was like 21 or 22.
Starting point is 00:49:20 And it like, I remember it like opened my mind. I was like, holy shit. And it gets you excited to get rid of stuff. And getting rid of things before that felt very like bad. And then I was excited to get rid of things, even things that I liked. Yeah. It feels really good simplifying. So we're going to do that.
Starting point is 00:49:44 But I mean, over the years, you guys have just sent us so much awesome stuff. And that's another hard thing too. though is like a lot of the stuff we have a lot of stuff that you guys have sent us that's so cool and it's like well it it's not something that we uh it's like oh here's this thing we got in 2017 from a mail video and it's like a funny item and it's cool but like it's taking up space and it's not an item we can even use i'm not talking about like fan art and stuff i'm talking about like someone sends us uh some goofy thing from like their dad's living room Yeah. And it's like, it's a funny item. It could be used for like fun set dressing. Sure. And we've used a lot of what you guys have sent us in the mail video, by the way. You can go through the podcast. Sometimes it'll be a centerpiece. Oh, yeah. We'll put it up here. We like the, the claymation stuff. A lot of the stuff that, you know, is very, it takes a lot of work and stuff like, I'll bring this out because it's been a while since we showed it. It's really nice. It's just an example of the stuff we keep. It's an example of the stuff we keep.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Oh, the stuff by Ashley Villaner. Yeah, like stuff like this. Oh yeah, look at that. It's gonna be out of focus. You gotta, here, yeah. Sit, I'll hold it. Like, this is fantastic. It's, like Ashley Villanova, very talented, um, artist.
Starting point is 00:51:07 We've got a bunch of stuff from them. Makes very, very cool, uh, just like, I don't even know what you would describe this as. Like, it's, it's, this is me as a, uh, like, cheetah, uh, with a, I think that's a vape in my mouth and a propeller hat. And I'm stalking a, a, a, a. Hippo Ryan across a river and he has large breasts and a cigarette. Classic banana furry head. Like we do hold on to a lot of. Oh, we save.
Starting point is 00:51:31 We love them. But it just, I guess, to make a long story short, it's just one of the, you know, how everyone, I feel like a lot of people experience this. There's like a time in the year. Yeah. Sometimes it comes at the end of the year where you're like, it's a new year starting. I'm going to refresh. That's when I do it.
Starting point is 00:51:48 We're, we're, our energy is we want to refresh, revamp and re-reesome. and revitalize things to the point where when we come to the office, it's already, everything's already kind of set up, ready to go. Yeah. And for me, it's a really big part of it is like,
Starting point is 00:52:06 I, I take that from you. Thank you, Ryan. I think that, um, it's like a psychological thing too where it's like your environment,
Starting point is 00:52:16 like your workspace does affect your mindset and your creativity. And like you and I, with what we do, relies on like energy and being creative and when when you walk into we have this awesome fucking office that is like we're so fortunate to have but when you walk in with a rent is it's why did I thought I heard someone opening the door is someone at the door hello no um but it's like you walk in and when I was a kid and my dream was to uh be like a this to be a YouTuber, as, as cringe as that may sound, it's always been both of our dreams. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:52:58 we were lucky enough to like get it. And I remember like thinking if I had my own like studio or office, like how sick it would be. So then walking in and seeing it's a reality. But then it's like, here's two years worth of merch boxes up against the wall. There's no like, we have all this cool art that's not even on the walls. Here's a bunch of equipment boxes of stuff that we've gotten for shoots that we're not sure if we're keeping. Because like, A lot of stuff also, you know, we'll talk with Tucker about what we need for a shoot. We'll get equipment for it. And then some of that equipment we only use for that one shoot.
Starting point is 00:53:32 And it's not really typically used for other stuff. So we're trying to like, again, downsize the amount of stuff we have. But that's not the only thing we're doing. We're like revitalizing the sets, making new sets. I don't want to go too much in detail yet to like promise too much at a later date. but a big fucking turnaround this is the biggest for the office and and uh well not just the office i like i think just sue megan in general but i again the proof will be in the party exactly i just don't want to over i don't want to i don't want to you know you and i have a habit of being like
Starting point is 00:54:08 you know over like shake because we get ready for we get excited yeah and we don't we don't do it to like string string people like uh dangle like a carrot in front of them it's like uh think of your personal life you get excited about something like You want to talk about it. Yeah, you're, say like, I don't know, some, I just, you get excited about something in your life and then life gets in the way. You start having to crack down at work. You start to, like, lose focus of that thing you were, like, working on.
Starting point is 00:54:35 And then, you know, a few months later, you're like, oh, shit, fuck, I got to go back. And I feel like what we're describing is like an every day just or every, as I was describing, like, every year people go through phases. of getting super motivated, like in their work or in their life. And we're, we have one of those phases right now, and we're just kind of riding the wave and it feels good. And this has been, we've had phases throughout Super Mega as if you've been a fan for a while, I know that you're like, oh, another.
Starting point is 00:55:10 Same old story. Like, oh, they're, you know, promising, blah, blah, blah. But I will say that, like, and not even for the audience, but just for like you and me, this has been the most serious productive one I think we've ever embarked on and it feels different and it feels good. And I want to keep riding that wave and I want to make it visible to everyone else because a lot of the stuff we're doing right now is prep for stuff and stuff that is not visible publicly yet. but we'll definitely have we will have some we should when everything is set up
Starting point is 00:55:53 we should definitely because we do like the office vlog I don't know if it'll be in the form of an office vlog but I would love to actually do a tour of the office when it's all set up the way we want with the new sets and the arrangements and then the cleanup and all that
Starting point is 00:56:09 I'm also like tired of so when in 2019 when we were working for editing GameGroms And we decided to leave and focus fully on super mega 2019, I think, maybe 2018. That was 2019. I think 2019, like April. April.
Starting point is 00:56:30 Okay. But, you know, we got the super megaplex because we needed an office. And that was just a house in Burbank that we rented. And we were like, we're going to turn this house into like a dream studio. And then we were there for four years and never got it, you know, we got it 50% of the way there. got desks, we got, you know, some decorations, but like it was never the dream of like a, like, think about, that's from our perspective, though. Something crazy is that Hunter told me when we were over in Kansas City, he said coming and visiting our office was not to the extent of how we felt
Starting point is 00:57:10 going to his place and being rejuvenated, but it got him a little excited. And he was like, oh, people are doing this and like this is such a cool setup to have so it is interesting you know looking back it's like we see that we didn't uh you know take advantage of everything that we wanted to yeah i guess it's from our perspective of like we have a vision of what we want our dream office to be and then if it's if it's only 50% of the way there it's like but i guess from an outside perspective that you got this whole place and you have room to record let's buy in a room for the pot you know yeah i i guess the the only difference to I guess is the clutter because we had so much merch
Starting point is 00:57:50 that's why we just did a big discount sale just to try to get that out of here which did super well so thank you guys thank you being supportive and sold out Monday I enjoyed you know because we had stuff at like 75% off 67% off 50% off 70% off we're like Bubba from Forest Gump just listing numbers they got discounts
Starting point is 00:58:13 is 75% off. We should just do that for one of the ads. It's just that. We should have... I like that. Our next garage sale, whatever the fuck that would be. But luck, the thing that's good about that and we thank, not only do we thank you guys for supporting us, but we thank you guys because in you doing that, we get to move, we, not
Starting point is 00:58:37 move, we get to create so much needed space within the office for storage and all that stuff. It feels like a weight has been lifted, literally, because, I mean, our office has, because we do our own merch, we know, we don't, since, since 2024, we've just literally done everything. We get it designed ourselves, we get it made ourselves, and then we ship it from our office. And that's a lot of boxes. It's a lot of supplies. And basically, you know, if we don't sell out of something, then we have some boxes of it.
Starting point is 00:59:14 And then that piles up over multiple Black Fridays, multiple 420 sales. There's just thick items where it's like hoodies and stuff. You know, like, because you can only put so many XL hoodies into a single cardboard box. So essentially, you guys have lifted a weight off our shoulders
Starting point is 00:59:30 because it's like, well, we don't know where to put this stuff. It's heavy. You don't want to throw it away. Right. And we would never give it to like a homeless shelter. So that's not even an option. So the only option is
Starting point is 00:59:42 to peddle it to to suckers under the guise of a discount check the fine print there's no discount well they agreed to pay the discount price now but
Starting point is 00:59:58 within a year they have to pay the full amount or else oh it's not I changed it it's within a week within a week honestly we do need a bump so badly I need a bump
Starting point is 01:00:11 Also, I need a bump, so I'm good. I was going to say the same thing. I saw some on the back of the toilet tank, so I think I'm just going to scrape that up. Careful, because I was cleaning with Comet, you know, that like bleach powder. And it looks... It looks the exact same. I've made that mistake before.
Starting point is 01:00:27 I'll be fine. Well, is there enough for me? You want to come find out? Yeah. I mean, Luke usually brings a baggie with him, so... Oh, does he? Because he's told me, has he been bringing you a baggie? because he's told me he's out every
Starting point is 01:00:41 uh where guys i don't get a bag he just has a baggie himself okay well that's not what he told me um so i guess we'll find out but if you want to come over to our patreon there's gonna be yeah i thought we're just going to ad reads oh yeah it's so late for ad reads you're right well we needed to put another well maybe one of the roll the clip moments yeah i'm scratching my uh penis he's scratching his penis and then on patreon you can you can you can just don't do that ryan jesus he's showing me his ass and he's

This back-to-school season, spend less on your kids with Amazon. Hi, I'm Laura Clary, mom, chaos coordinator, and someone who has learned the hard way that back-to-school season is basically a second mortgage. Last year, my daughter decided she absolutely needed this very specific backpack.
Starting point is 01:03:27 Not just any backpack, the backpack. I found it, I bought it, I sent her off on the first day of school. She lost it by week two, gone forever. So, remember, with Amazon, low back-to-school prices, just spend less on your kids because every dollar you don't spend on them is a dollar you haven't spent on them. But what we have to tell you is very serious. Every single week we get sucked into a dungeon by an evil space wizard named the Quizard, and we can't leave until we each give three of the most interesting and obscure effects we can find on whatever topic he asks. Sure, we get abducted against our will, ripped away from her families,

If that sounds fun to you, and why wouldn't it? Then why don't I get sucked up with us into the Quizards Pit every single Monday? That's Quizards Pit. Q-U-I-Z-A-R-D-S-P-I-T.
