Starting point is 00:01:15 month learn more at no frills dot ca this ain't your mama's audio only podcast nope and you know usually typically we'd probably be like this doesn't sound right does it because we believe it or not we're not in L.A. We're not in our studio. Wait, this is the very first episode of Super Mega Show where we're not in Los Angeles. Nope. We're in Kansas City. Missouri. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:59 We're on the outskirts of Kansas City, specifically the address. We'll reveal it in the Patreon version. We're visiting our buddy Hunter again. You guys might know them as Meat Canyon. Or Papa Meat. Right. He's not on this episode, but we are currently sitting. If you see his podcast, the creep cast, the set, we're currently stealing this set. So I'm sitting behind this like old Victorian desk. You're where Hunter sits? I think so. And I'm where Isaiah sits? I believe so. Maybe. I don't see I sound like I'm in the chair you're at the desk. Yeah. Whatever, you know. I feel like a bad friend. Do they call it that because they're creeps? I think. So I haven't seen an episode and see right there that makes me sound like a bad for him.
Starting point is 00:02:47 That's kind of what I didn't want to admit. But I don't know where each person sits and at the same time. I mean, if you asked Hunter, if he's listened to a single episode of the super mega podcast. Yeah. I mean, you guys are, I mean, you guys are funny. Yeah, but have you listened? Oh, I mean, yeah. I've seen all sorts of stuff.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Oh, real quick, I wanted to give you a cheers because typically we're drinking white monsters to keep. our self-energized. Yeah. You've actually been drinking this brand, not the specific flavor, which we'll get into, but you've been recently, you and Darwin have been drinking this brand, Alani? Alani New. It's an energy drink, and it has more caffeine than monster. And this is not a paid sponsorship.
Starting point is 00:03:33 No. This is just a life update. But if they want to... Yeah, if they want to sponsor us, I mean, here's the thing. I think that this is, from what I've been told, this is a quote-unquote girl drink. Yeah, but it's like... Who gives him half? It's marketed maybe to a more feminine audience.
Starting point is 00:03:52 What makes it a girl drink? I find out that it has estrogen and shit in it. I'm like, oh, fuck, dude, it's actually a girl drink. I, well, it is, this one in particular, you've had before. I've never had Alani. This is my first Alani ever, and unfortunately, my first dose of Alani is going to be the flavor of Cotton candy. It's all that they had in the fridge here. And, uh, I mean, I mean, I'm not one to, you know, look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm not going to complain about, you know, it's very,
Starting point is 00:04:22 it's very nice. I don't talk about Hunter's wife like that. Okay. Well, I, I was hoping that you wouldn't draw the connection. Uh, but yes, I'm talking about Hunter's wife. Um, and God, you don't want to look that in the mouth. But I, uh, this, this drink, it's It's all this in the fridge right now, so I really can't complain. And, you know, I didn't pay for it. No, exactly. However, it is cotton candy flavor. And I am not the biggest fan.
Starting point is 00:04:48 It makes me feel a little bit nauseous. Oh, yeah. It's a lot. Does it feel like the aftertaste of vomit after you've done that, like, at a state fair? You've had cotton candy, elephant ears. Let me see. Let me, I haven't thought of it that way. Let me.
Starting point is 00:05:09 It, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know you have a very, like myself, you know, a very active imagination. So I don't know if that ruins it for you. No, I mean, it's not stomach acidy enough for it to really be that. But now that you've said that, it's like, oh, well, well, let me, let me, let me take a spin. Yeah, go ahead and take that, take that bad girl for a spin.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Oh. Yeah, that smells like cotton candy. Why is, okay. It tastes like a cotton candy vape if you made it into a drink. Oh. Oh, you really don't like it. See, I don't judge the drink by that flavor because that's, it's a good drink. It's just, you know, cotton candy.
Starting point is 00:05:51 The other one that they had was Sherbert Swirl, which also I just... I would imagine that at least tastes better. I like Sherbert. Yeah, Sherbert's good. Cotton candy is just not something I want in a drink form. It's a little too much. This literally just tastes like, because cotton candy is just sugar. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:06 So it's like sugar flavor. Mm-hmm. Feels like a cotton candy extract. That's what it, that's, you know, like if you were to synthesize cotton candy and put its flavor in a vial, the harshest of the heart, like it is nothing but just that overwhelming sense. This is what that is. I mean, that's exactly what it actually is. I don't like that I have the aftertaste of it. Like, I'd rather have a Coca-Cola, which they do have Coca-Cola.
Starting point is 00:06:32 They've got, in that little fridge over there, there's some Michelob Ultra and some high noons. We could crack those. Ooh, I'd be down the crack of high noon. Dude, I love a good high-nune. Like crack a high noon? Dude, let's crack a fucking high noon. You know, maybe just for energy, I'll take it. I'll keep sipping the Solani. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:50 But I got into these. I'll grab you it real quick. Dude, thank you. I'll take any flavor. I got into these drinks because they were in my fridge at home because my, my, right there, right there. Straight next to the gigantic green gorilla. Oh, okay. I know. There's so many wonders and trinkets here. My girlfriend got these and I was like, ooh, energy drinks. So I started sipping them.
Starting point is 00:07:13 And she was like, where are my, my Alonis? And I was like, oh, I drank some. She's like, oh, sorry. I mean, I bought those for myself because they're a girl drink. And I was like, oh, my, oops. But then got some at the office. And Darwin loves him. Darwin's a big alani head.
Starting point is 00:07:31 What doesn't Darwin love, you know? Not in like a negative, we're just like, he's a very positive aura in the office. Yeah, like there's not much he hates, besides, I mean, if he had to make a list, I would say he'd probably put like war. Yeah. Racism. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Hatred of all forms, stuff like that. Yeah. I'm going to... Yeah, let me... I'll crack this open. You've had a high noon, right? Oh, yeah. They're good.
Starting point is 00:07:57 I like high noon. When I was... You know me, I'm not a drinker. I have been drinking this trip. My father was a drink. Just because, you know, for the past two times we've gone out, I've ordered first. Or, I guess not the... Not the other time, but like, I'm not like big alcohol drinker, and so I'll pass on it.
Starting point is 00:08:17 But once I see everyone at the table, I'll order an alcoholic beverage, I feel like I'm a wet sock. Dude, I don't. I hate ordering, like, drinks first at a restaurant because I'm not sure if the, like, that's the vibe. Right. And here's the, like, with a drink at a restaurant, I could honestly take it or leave it. So it's like, if I don't order a drink, that's totally fine. but if everyone else is ordering drinks, you know, I'll partake. It's social. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:46 But then I don't want to be the guy, but it's like, oh, you know what? I'll get a margarita, and then no one else, they're like, oh, I have a water. And I'm like, oh, okay. So you went first and you just got like a water. And then every single other person was like, I have a margarita. And you were like, oh, could I get one too? Hey, the frozen one looked good that Trevor had. Yeah, Trevor Noah, just for those ones.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Yeah, he works for Hunter now. Yeah, it's been tough since the daily show ended. But, you know, I really don't drink that much in my regular life. Maybe at a restaurant or occasionally, you know, I don't go to parties often, but, you know, I'll drink at a party. But whenever I come out to Kansas City, there's alcohol to be drank. I mean, you remember whenever Hunter used to visit us, he'd always around. arrive at the door with like a handle of some kind. Oh, I would, I just started.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Like Captain Morgan was it usually? Jack. Okay. Jack Daniels. Or maybe, no, Captain Morgan's rum. He's a Jack and Coke psychopathella. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I remember whenever he would be like coming to visit, he wouldn't even have to ask.
Starting point is 00:10:00 I would just already know, I'm like, I'm going to get a 12 pack of the mini Coke zeros and a handle of Jack. And that'll keep him through the whole trip. And he would arrive and he wouldn't even comment on it. He would just go straight to it. Like, he just knew. He's like, oh, yeah, this is for me. And just, you know, go for it. But it's been nice being back in, we've been doing a lot of traveling specifically to Kansas City this year. This is your fourth time this year. It is, because we both had to come. Because now that it's out, we can, I feel like, you know, we talk freely about it. We came out for like the test fitting for your slender man costume.
Starting point is 00:10:37 That was in June, right? And then my Jeff the Killer Mask, which was in June because the shoot was July, right? I think the shoot was August. No, no, because I did my makeup after doing my summer trip home. Oh, you're right, you're right, you're right. So it was like early August was my makeup shot. So we came here first in June, did the shoot in July, which was like a week. Right.
Starting point is 00:11:01 And then I came back to do pickup slash not reshoots really. Just more coverage. They needed some more. So you were just like, oh, I guess I will. I'll do it on the way home. Yeah, you just flew back to Kansas City for a third time. And then now we're here for my third, your fourth, for some creative stuff that I, I mean, maybe we'll talk about it later.
Starting point is 00:11:28 I actually, we haven't talked to Hunter about what he's comfortable with us even mentioning. So we got a tiptoe. Yeah, we'll keep it. But I don't want to get any. anyone excited this this is this is we're not like filming it yeah no we're not here shooting a video it's for some it is creative work but it is uh it's for it's for for something else something that i i am actually really stoked to to be i'm glad to be a part of yeah um and you guys will soon be a part of it too because basically i'm just going to say it it's it's it's
Starting point is 00:12:01 a supplement brand that you buy and then you get you sell it to your food you're friends and their family, then they sell it to their friends and family and everybody makes money. Yeah. It's like, think about like a bunch of, like, think about like the person who started this. They're at the top and then they, they sell it to like their friends and family to sell to others. Do a wider net down. Let's just say they sell it to like two people below them. It's like a triangle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's like a triangle. Like a pyramid of some sort. Exactly. Just because I'm, I'm thinking of like it's like a tiered system. And you're always at the top. Yeah. You're always going to be the one at the top. So, uh, uh,
Starting point is 00:12:37 And the more that they sell, the more that you make. So it's pretty awesome. We've also been just brainstorming meat coin and stuff like that, which... He probably doesn't want that mentioned. Well, I mean... I mean, he's been pretty vocal about his support for crypto lately. I just, I feel like we need to stress that both of those things are absolutely not true. If you have watched hundreds of...
Starting point is 00:13:04 Maybe you're new. You're brand new. And I will give you the leniency there. But if you are a fan that has watched the podcast or has watched our stuff for a long period of time and you didn't get that we were joking, maybe we're just so good. We're just too good. You and I just have such a skill. I mean, if you're a brand new fan, you're like, oh, I'll give these guys a shot. And then it's like, oh, 10 minutes in. And it sounds like they're doing a pyramid scheme. Some multi-level marketing. Oh, and crypto. That's cool. Nice. I just like, I love coming here because his setup is so nice. Oh, it's so inspirational. Just the, like, when you, when you come here, it's very much, like, obviously a creative space where, like, I don't know, like, when I visited, for example, like, back when I first moved out here and when you were out here, like, if we went to, like, Maker Studios or some show, yeah, they have, like, fun, like, scooters and, like, fun stuff.
Starting point is 00:14:04 Fun sorts. Fun stuff. but it's still a very like industrial yeah yeah yeah of just lifeless office building where it's like this his area is just hear that is that AC
Starting point is 00:14:17 or is that it's a plane jetts it sounds like fighter jets sorry we get easily distracted and I have headphones on because I'm monitoring the audio and I heard this sound and it's you know it's late at night I was like are those fighter jets but I but I have to commend Hunter he he
Starting point is 00:14:32 he um he he he really hosts a really great creative bubble here. Yeah, it's so admirable. It's so cool. Like, I don't know how much he really shows in his videos, like, uh, offset, like, beyond what the, the main cameras can see. Uh, but like, you know, his, his magic the gathering, uh, set, the whole, like, fake, um, store set for like a trading card store. Like, that's, that's kind of where we're, we're sitting right next to it. The, two sets are next to each other.
Starting point is 00:15:06 And it's, I don't know, man. This place is just, it's genuinely, best way I can describe it is, it's like Willy Wonka's factory. If you were, uh, instead of chocolate, it's like for, for creative content. Yeah. Dustin from Sacred Symbols here. You know when you're in the middle of a heavy recording session, editing a show, or just trying to get real work done on the go and your laptop starts slowing down or burning
Starting point is 00:15:36 up in your lap? It's the worst. So, what is it actually? feel like to switch over to a better laptop, like the Dell XPS powered by Intel Core. For starters, it's built with a premium design that's incredibly thin and light, so it feels smooth, meaning far less weight on your shoulders when you're packing up for travel. Then you open it up, and the responsive touchscreen makes scrolling, zooming, and swiping feel completely fast and precise. Everything just flows.
Starting point is 00:16:01 Best of all, with its long-lasting battery life, it feels like non-stop energy. You get a better way to work without being chained to a turn. charger all day. Starting point is 00:17:12 around the office. One, like, Hunter is a collector. He collects many of different things. Like, he'll have, like, we mentioned Magic the Gathering bundles, but also, like, figurines and, like, it feels like stuff. Anime figurines. Anime figurines.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Really sultan. And all of Creature kids' creations are also kind of still, you know, they're all here in almost like a museum sense to view them. His place kind of is, like, his whole place is, like, this playground of like cool shit and um creature kids creations uh i also want to specify that because creature kid is two ks when i say creations after that that is not with a k no that's kk yes um creature kids creations are just it is a museum they're in like glass containers and some of them are just like sitting out on desks and like my the slender man um head and in hand uh or kind of
Starting point is 00:18:19 they're in the room that we're staying in um and yeah yesterday i think he got some some shelves put in to like put all that stuff up and we're we're kind of sleeping in uh we're sleeping in one of the like warehouse offices the main studio yeah where they hang out i guess it's it's It's more of like a not so much the creative space, but more like kind of just like the central chill space. There's like a kitchen and a big couch and a projector. But up, there's some stairs that go up. And then there's like a writer's area with like a couch and a whiteboard. And I'm sleeping on that couch up there.
Starting point is 00:19:00 And Ryan's down below. Yes, sir. Normally we'd share a couch and we'd spoon because it's cold. It is very cold. It's freezing. Well, Hunter likes it cold. And it's also cold right now in Casey, like chilly, not like freezing, you know, frost or whatever like that. But it, uh...
Starting point is 00:19:16 Coming from Southern California. It was 65 inside. And it was 65 through the night. Yeah. And I feel like a lot of people might be like, what? That's cold to you? Indoor's. Indoors, yes. And also, uh, like, it's in like the 40s outside. And we're coming from beautiful sunny Southern California, which in October is still like in the night. 90s. So it's a little bit of nice, like wind and overcast and a little bit of like little spatters of rain. Tropical or Hurricane Rachel. And then it went away. And now it's gross again. You know, I'm pissed. There was some some motherfucker in L.A. The second it started raining,
Starting point is 00:19:59 I already know what happened. They looked outside and they said it. They said the words. They said rain, rain, go away. Come again another. Yeah, I think what. It worked. I can't fucking stand that saying, dude. Like fucking whoever said that, if you're listening to this, fuck you. I'm saying it with my chest. They need to go away. And not come again another day. No. Just go away. And that's the end of that. Go to Texas or something. Yeah. Don't, don't California my Texas. Don't Texas my California. Sorry, that's what I meant to say. Don't Texas my California. Um, but yeah, the collections in this office are so cool. There's just so many little like, it's kind of what we aspire to do. I mean, I love collecting. weird stuff. And so like seeing it on a scale like this, I'm like, man, this is, I'm jealous.
Starting point is 00:20:43 This is cool. There's a lot to be jealous over if you're creative. You can't help yourself, but like come in here and be like, oh shit. Kind of at first kind of be overwhelmed by it. And then you start to like look at the like specific things because there's so much going on. There's a lot of terrifying stuff too. Like there's the stuff's terrifying. Rotting plastic corpse up where you're sleeping. Yeah, dude, there's like a hyper, like, realistic, life-size, like, rotting, like, screaming corpse. That's from some series that he has because he got it, like, as part of his collection. And it's just, like, out of the box, just, like, laying up there near where I'm sleeping. And then, like, in this room, I don't even know what that is. That's from the Nicholas Cage movie, isn't it? That's from, I think I remembered him saying that. The green thing? Yeah, the gigantic green ape. That's from the, like, Five Nights at Freddy's style. Nicholas Cage movie.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Oh. You remember that? I never saw it. I didn't either, but I think that is the actual one from the movie. That's when he was paying off his debts, right? Yeah. Because he didn't... Didn't he buy, like, a Tyrannosaurus Rex skull?
Starting point is 00:21:50 Nicholas Cage? Yeah. I thought he, like, bought just a bunch of oddities. That's going to be my downfall. He's just like me. He's... You get to buy a T-Rex skull on, like, a TikTok marketplace? eBay.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Yeah. I mean, dude, my... If I just let you look through like my eBay purchases, like my history, it's a lot of stupid shit. I'd be interested because I have, I don't have a long history, but like every now and then I will venture in to eBay. Does it be my eBay? I love eBay. It just purchases your order history. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:22:29 Why? It's just like. My eBay algorithm rules. Because there's a couple things that I'm like an avid collector of. And lately the thing I've been, I've had a small collection for like two years, but lately I've really expanded on it and I've gotten a little obsessed with it, which is Joe Camel, which is the camel cigarettes mascot from the 80s and 90s, which was like a cartoon camel. And they made a piece of every merchandise you can imagine, like duffel bags, shower curtains, cups. So I've just been working on collecting stuff. the eBay of Joe Camel. Oh my God. I just... Sorry, some of the stuff that I got,
Starting point is 00:23:10 like, I... I'm looking through the phase where I was building a commander deck, like a custom commander deck, like the monkey only deck, and there's just a bunch of like... Times one banana foil laminated custom altered token. MTG Kibo.
Starting point is 00:23:26 Ouktabi Prince. Jumpstart. I don't know what any of that means. It's just a little like monkey prince. Ooh, this was a good one. I remember, because you can't buy it anymore, new, but it was a brand new Uno Flash electronic card game. Mattel Lights and Sound. Oh, and that's fun. That's the one that you've played when you can remember. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you have to, yeah. Man, like, eBay's is a bit of an addiction. And I don't know, there's just so much cool stuff on there. Like, Ryan, for my Joe Camel collection.
Starting point is 00:24:03 I didn't buy this, but it's in my wish list. Look at this, look at this standing Joe Camel ashtray. Look at this. Hold on. It's got Joe Camel on it. It's a standing ashtray. I like the duffel bag you showed me that you recently got as well. I did. Get that, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:17 You could find so much Joe Camel stuff. Maybe I shouldn't be giving this out because then people are going to go scoop it up. But like, they genuinely made something of everything of Joe Camel. My recent purchases are. I'm looking back at these purchases and I spent way too much on a lot of just bullshit, dude. I'm like looking at some of the price. I'm like, what was I thinking? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Like I said, Jesus. Stupid. Fucking idiot. Like, okay, here's a recent purchase I made on October 18th. For $28, it was Joe Camel, Cigarettes, Ceramic Salt and Pepper Shakers. Okay. Yeah? Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:59 Yeah, they're cute, man. Actually, Sorry, I remember, okay, most of my recent stuff is actually probably bought on Etsy. Etsy rules. I love Etsy. Etsy's great. I need to go to my purchases on... Ooh. For our tape cameras, I did order a wide angle lens, which just was delivered yesterday. So I'm excited to get back to that.
Starting point is 00:25:25 But dude, this is my most shameful Joe Camel purchase I've made. And I was surprised It was surprisingly cheap for what it is It was It's like $67 Which is still not cheap But it's pretty fucking cool I'm just gonna show you real quick
Starting point is 00:25:43 And maybe you can describe it to the people Because I have to roll over to show you You are across the room Yeah so I have to Did get this Okay So it's like a director's chair And you're sitting on Joe Camel's face
Starting point is 00:26:00 Is there nothing on the back? of the chair? No. So it's the top panel of the director's chair is just blue sky. And I found other ones online, but they all have people's names there. And this one did not have a name. Now you can put your name on it. Uh-huh. That's why I got it. I was like, oh shit. I might try to screen print it on there because everyone else's is or am I try embroidering it. But it's so sick. It's like it's a dope chair. I was telling Matt and he agreed. I haven't seen it myself, but it's like you have like a Helga Bataki Arnold
Starting point is 00:26:33 What would you I forgot what the word is for like the collection of Like an altar of things Are you talking about the thing I sent you the other night? No no no like your collection of Joe Camel stuff Feels like Helga Bataki Yeah A shrine
Starting point is 00:26:52 A shrine to Joe the camel Joe Camel Dude Joe Camel's so sick And the stuff is shockingly cheap on eBay. There's an abundance. And I feel like TikTok has not discovered Joe Camel. And it's one of those things where, like, Jin Z is going to discover Joe Camel. And then the prices on this stuff is going to just shoot up.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Well, until this podcast goes out and it gets clipped. And you know, all the millions of fans. Yeah. I've ruined the economy for Joe Camel by talking about it. But, you know, maybe people just, they won't even care to look it up because they can't see it. But wait until they, I'll make a video showcasing my Joe Camel collection and they'll go, holy fuck. Yeah. It's in the background of the Uncle Sleepover, like video frame we made on the CRT TV.
Starting point is 00:27:42 You can actually see two Joe Camel things. I feel like like for some reason your Joe Camel collection is like when there's no news to be had in a local news station, they do a profile on you. Local Matt Watson has started a collection of, you. Joe can't. Because you know like in TV shows or whatever if they're like profiling someone that collects a bunch of shit, you see them like in the corner of the room. It's just like,
Starting point is 00:28:08 for you would be like a Joe Camel statue with the duffel bag. You're wearing like a Joe Camel shirt and sunglasses with a Joe Camel hat. Where it like the top of the hat is like a camel's head where the bill is like the mouth of the camel. Coming up after the break, we speak with local Matt Watson who has possibly the largest Joe Camel collection for a 30-year
Starting point is 00:28:29 rolled in Southern California. Wow. That's true. Probably not. Do you think someone else in Southern California has a better Joe Camel collection than you? Absolutely. Absolutely. I guess it is a He was small world. He was very famous. And the thing about Joe Camel was, I mean, what I think is cool about Joe Camel is, A, I love the style and the art, but B, he smoked cigarettes. He smoked cigarettes, and that's dope as fuck. What are you going to say, though? Well, literally, I was going to say he is the final piece of an era of
Starting point is 00:29:00 advertising like history that he was like the final nail in the coffin for that type of thing because in the 80s and 90s they already could not show commercials on TV
Starting point is 00:29:12 for cigarettes but they could still do print ads and that's why they kind of really ran with this campaign and then of course they stopped doing this campaign because they ran
Starting point is 00:29:24 a poll, I think in the mid-90s, that they pulled, I think, six-year-olds across America, and it was for brand recognizability. And they showed them, like, the Disney Channel logo. They showed them Joe Camel. And I think it was, like, 90% of six-year-olds knew who Joe Camel was, and as many recognized him as the Disney Channel logo. So they were like, yeah, this probably isn't good if this many kids. Six-year-olds. Yeah. I love Joe Camel. Well, dude, because you could get Camel cash. He's like your cool uncle. Yeah, exactly. And I don't know, dude, it's just, it's sick. I think the coolest Joe Camel thing I got is from eBay. It's a cardboard display. I sent you a picture of it. But it's like, it's like two, three feet tall. And it was for smoke shops in the early
Starting point is 00:30:20 90s and it was made to look like this cool, like multi-tiered building, like a casino. And it was where they would put the packs of cigarettes. So I got that so I can put some, some of my collection in there as like a little shrine. Shrine sounds obsessive. And then I'm going to put some, try to install some LED lights in there. See, I'm waiting for your crazy frog era where you start getting crazy frog cut out. Don't put ideas in my head. In like a crazy frog piggy bank. Now, but I'm, but am I going after the crazy frog version with the penis? Oh, yeah. Because it's classic. That's more rare, I think.
Starting point is 00:30:53 Oh, yeah. Isn't that how it starts? Like, I kind of thought for a while, maybe I imagined the penis thing. I was like, because I saw a version without the penis. I remember as a kid being like, what? Oh, it upset me deeply. I was like, the penis. Like, there's no way that crazy frog had a penis, right?
Starting point is 00:31:15 Like, that had to be some, like, fucked up sick nightmare I had. I had the same reaction when Matt Graining forcefully made us look at Bart Simpson's penis in the Simpsons movie. And that was the only male frontal nudity of the summer in theaters that summer, 2007. I was not happy when I saw Bart Simpson's penis. It was a good joke though. No, no, it's like now it's funny, but like I just remember as like a Christian teenager who found so much like wholesome solace in the Simpsons. I was just sitting there in theaters like, I love this. And then it just shows his penis.
Starting point is 00:31:53 And I was like, oh my God! No! I saw the midnight premiere of The Simpsons movie. Really? Oh, yeah. It was a very special night. It was weird because I went to a few midnight screenings. And I was so young at the time that, you know, my dad and my stepmom took me.
Starting point is 00:32:13 Oh, so you got to see the penis with them. Oh, yeah. It was a family experience. Your dad stood up. And he said, Dick, get up, Ryan, we're leaving. That's not what you, that's not what you think it is. Oh, I can't wait to see how they explain this. And then the bar goes flying and he lands on the window while Ned Flanders is holding up the Twinkie or something.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Yeah, the other two movies I did the midnight, like I saw a midnight release of for, with my dad and stepmom were Pirates of the Caribbean two. And then, um. Black men tell no tale. Star Wars Episode 3 And I had not really seen many of a Star Wars film since then So I was kind of lost but I was like I just remembered people at the time going
Starting point is 00:32:58 This one's so dark and fucked in the head Was that the first of the prequels that came out? That was the finale of the prequels That's right one two and three Episode 3 so fucked Oh man you're not going to believe it I mean Anakin at the end is Fuck you
Starting point is 00:33:18 Wait, they say the F word? No, I was like, I was like, hey, really? Shout of him burning in the lava. Fuck you, Obi-Wi-W. I mean, I wouldn't necessarily rule it out. It just seems very out of character for Star Wars. You pussy! You pussy, bitch!
Starting point is 00:33:35 You freak bitch! I have the high ground now. Oh. And he does the thumbs up, like the Terminator going down in the lava? When are we doing a Star Wars podcast special? Like the family guy, Blue Harvest. I have of that on DVD I would see
Starting point is 00:33:51 that was when those would come on I'd be like God damn it I don't want to watch this because I didn't give a shit about Star Wars Dude I love that Dude there was a time
Starting point is 00:33:59 Because it was on adult swim Right I feel I think they like planned it Where I wasn't as excited For the family guy one But robot chicken Would also do like Star Wars specials And those were always a treat
Starting point is 00:34:13 I always enjoyed those Well I remember My friend and I made a little animated series in like middle school and I didn't even watch Star Wars but I was like well we got to do a Star Wars special and I remember spending so long in Photoshop animating this fucking like Star Wars without knowing shit about Star Wars I hadn't seen it and I was like drawing Darth Vader and all this stuff and I was like yeah this is awesome I mean hazard productions as the lightsaber in it we've shown it before it's great it's really fantastic stuff well why don't we show it again
Starting point is 00:34:45 Does Luke have it? I mean It would be his You know Responsibility to define the The little clip I think it's on Reddit if you just search it I mean I'll do it right now
Starting point is 00:35:05 I'll see how easy it is So Luke doesn't worry his little head Hey That's not a little head He's got a big old brain in there It's crunching number 247 Well you can see it's bulging at it Like it's kind of like you know
Starting point is 00:35:17 He has the veins and like the brain shape At the top of his head That's starting because he's been reading lot more. Progeria. So I don't want to call attention to it, but... Oh, come on. We're going to take a quick commercial break while Ryan looks for that. And when we're back, you're going to hear more about my Joe Camel collection. And you're going to hear more about movies Ryan Witten saw in theaters with his stepmom and father. I type in Hazard Productions, Ryan McGee, and it's the first result under videos.

This is DJ E. Zidic on W. Sorry, like the first result, like the first actual result of Hazard Productions, Ryan McGee,
Starting point is 00:37:17 is Ryan McGee Ninja Sex Wiki fandom. Ninja Sex Wiki. Is an American comedian and video editor? He's the co-host. of the YouTube channel Super Mega with Matt Watson. Hey, it's true. That's us. It's very true.
Starting point is 00:37:32 I'm glad we're on the Ninja Sex Wiki. Dude, I love, like, with intense fandoms. If you're ever associated with it in any small way, you get your own Wiki page on those. So it'll be like, yep, I guess we're part of the Team Edge Wiki. You can find our pages. I actually have no clue. Dan, nah, na, na, na, nah. No.
Starting point is 00:37:53 With J-shock, what was his, uh, J-Daw? What? Same person. Tea dog? There was, okay, Team Edge. There's Brian. Brian. Tea dog.
Starting point is 00:38:06 No, tea dogs from the Walking Dead. Tea, right? Tea, bro. Dude, it was he man. Tea man. It was literally an old channel that back in like 2015 or 2016, when Ryan and I lived with Markiplier, he would go do collabs. and we would go with him sometimes and appear in those videos. And they were like challenge videos that were very of the era.
Starting point is 00:38:32 It's like, look at us, put, how many rubber bands can we put on a watermelon before it explodes? And they had this intro where it was like Matthias, a guy named Brian and a guy named T. One of them was Matthias's brother. T-Dod was Matthias' brother. I'm trying to, because I'm looking up, okay, maybe I'm going to look up Team Edge, Markiplier, super mega. Because, okay. There it is, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:56 Well, wait, no, no, no, it was kids with problems in those videos, remember? That's right, that's right. It was, like, features. Well, if you remember, they wouldn't, it was Markiplier with friends. It wasn't kids with problems or anything like that. We weren't, um... We were credited as Markipliers with friends. Markiplier's little buddies.
Starting point is 00:39:14 This isn't the intro? No, is it cold open? Probably. You got to have Markiplier is the first thing that's shown on screen. Dude, maybe they, maybe they put the intro like later on in the channel. I just remember you and I watched it and we... Oh, so Brian.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Right. Jay Fred. Jay Fred. What the fuck? Where did T-Dod come from? I mean, J-Fred's kind of hard to just kind of like remember off the top of your head. It's not like a very... So I was closer with J-Shop.
Starting point is 00:39:45 Yeah. I was much closer with J-Shok. But I said it and I was like, no, that's a different... That's a different... He's the third brother that they'd ever included in the YouTube channel. But he got his own fame of... Yeah, just to piss them off and really stick it to the man. You're looking great in your shock o'clock hoodie, by the way.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Thank you, man. Well, I mean, I only have you to thank for getting it for me. It's shock the clock, dude. I wish we had those hoodies. I'm lying. Matt's wearing a very fashionable shirt. Thank you. Darwin got this for me.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Really? Yeah. It was a concert that we were supposed to both go to. And I got a migraine, and I was just not feeling good. and I was, I, I was, they, the band, it's the band hum and they weren't, it was part of a festival and they weren't going on until later and I was really holding out. Tell the truth, Matt. He, it was getting to the time of the concert, Darwin asked, are you ready? And you sat there and you thought about it and he went, fuck it. It's gooning hours. Yeah. I, you know what? I just didn't want to say, because I didn't want Darwin to find out this way. But yes. I think he listens to the pod? Does he listen to the podcast?
Starting point is 00:40:56 He does. Wait, really? Yeah, he does. Prove it to me, Darwin. Oh, let's see if, let's see. Because he'll bring up moments to me or he'll text me and be like, yo, dude. Well, he listened. I know he does, he does listen to the Patreon one in the car. Okay.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Because he enjoys it, he says. It's short and sweet. And basically, I bought these concert tickets seven months prior. And I was very excited to see the band hum. I'm a big, big humhead. Actually, I mean, I first heard about them through Daniel because he used to have that hum shirt and that was how I first heard about them.
Starting point is 00:41:36 And it wasn't until like 20, 25, I actually really like gave them a proper listen. And I was like, oh my God, this rules. Proper listen. I was just like, there's no way to say proper without it sounding British. British? But Darwin at least was kind of,
Starting point is 00:41:56 to bring me this shirt from the concert and I felt very, very bad because I was like, I couldn't make it because it was gooning hours. And yet he still brought me a shirt, so thank you. You're wearing a very fashionable top as well.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Thank you. Same top for men. Like I'm wearing a crop top. Very, very, like, I like those spaghetti straps you've got. It's camo. It's the see-through spaghetti straps that I think really pull it off because it looks like it's just being held up.
Starting point is 00:42:24 It's crazy. Like it looks, it almost, like, I thought you were, wearing a tube top? No, there are, there are straps, but they are, they're see-through. Oh, yeah. They're not very comfortable. I feel like I'm getting like rubber rash. Yeah, it's kind of confused with rubber Ross. No. And to that I say, God damn it, Ross. Which I know he loves. The dude, he came into our stream. And like, it's not like we talk to Ross often, but he comes into our stream. And of course, the first thing we do is lay into the God damn it
Starting point is 00:42:50 raw shit. And I think his reaction is like, okay, bye. Yeah, and he just vanished from chat. He's like, You know, I never, I never really like pop into Matt and Ryan's chat when I catch them live and just say, hey, you know, these are old friends. You know, we've known each other for, you know, over a decade. You know, we have a long history together. I'll show some support. They're sweet dudes. I mean, I'm putting words in his mouth, but I'm sure they were much more kind than that. I'm sure he feels that way. Why wouldn't he? He's like, oh, they're fucking great dudes. Is that? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, cunt. And then he pops in. We said some goddamn it Ross. And he just did. before donating thousands of dollars. As in he did not He did not donate thousands of dollars.
Starting point is 00:43:31 It was before he could donate or would donate. Because I realized... Jesus, sorry. This... It's the high noon. It's the gross guttural burps. You're burping up a storm. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:44 I realized saying before he donated. I was like, oh, but he disappeared. Before he donated, blah, blah, blah, which could sound like, but not before. He gave a lot of money. Yeah. I mean, he's the creator of... of game overs.
Starting point is 00:43:56 He's got the money. Oh, fuck, dude. How have we gone 40 minutes into this podcast? Wow. Without talking about the fact that we... Oh, my God. We saw, you can see everything. The Nathan Fielder and Oppenheimer joint.
Starting point is 00:44:15 Yep. The grandson of Mr. Nuclear Bomb himself. Yeah. Which, I mean, great year for Lance Ophan. Oppenheim. Two big movies. For those who are not in the know, it is a documentary that Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder worked on together. That's kind of like, I don't want to spoil too much, but it's kind of like a, it's a character study on Elizabeth Holmes, who is the Theranos scammer. Well, that's up to you, that's up to you to decide, I guess. I mean, but I mean, the proof is. Go look at the federal, like, court evidence. Yeah, the depositions. It's pretty, uh, I feel like there's not too much room for debate on that one.
Starting point is 00:45:04 Um, but it was our first night in Kansas City, uh, we were like, shit, man, we should go see it. It just came out. And, um, because the shit was getting spoiled left and right on social. Yeah, I, I muted the words related to it. And I was like, we got to go see this immediately. I didn't want to wait until, uh, we were back in L.A. and, in risk, you know, spoiling the pie. So we went and saw it with Hunter and his boy toy Nick.
Starting point is 00:45:33 And do I have to bring them up. Okay. Why don't you do it? It's fine. You do it. You do it. Well, I don't really know him that well. He gifted you, you know, something. Ret and Link, Link gifted Matt.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Yeah. I don't really want to... Condoms. Yeah. Yeah me condoms. Which I was very confused by because we don't really know each other very well. And I was like, oh, is this like, did you bring these for everyone? Or like, are these for me and Ryan?
Starting point is 00:46:04 Like, are you giving someone to both? And he's like, no, no, they're just for you. And I still don't know why he did that. But again, going back to what I said earlier, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. I think it's funny because, like, we change the story comically on our end. But since the audience doesn't have any sort of prerequisite knowledge of who we're talking about. We're just lying. Yeah, like it's just, it's a friend of Hunter's named Dan.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Yeah. Dan the man. I was about to say Dan the man. He's very, very particular. Yeah. But, you know, he brought me a VHS tape because earlier in the day, I told him I collected speaking in collections, VHS tapes. And he's like, oh, me too. It's not what he sounds like.
Starting point is 00:46:47 But I guess it's hard to talk about it in depth without, because I really do think. I think it's a movie that you don't want to look too much up about. You got to see it. Yeah, you should see it and form your own opinion. I recommend it. I think it's a wonderful trip. Yeah, it was a, it was a Chris Angel of a movie, dare I say. It was a mind freak.
Starting point is 00:47:13 It was truly, I mean, it's very long. Be prepared. It's over three hours. And there's a lot of reviews that I see that are like, and it flew by. I didn't feel like three hours. And I'm not saying like it felt miserable, but like it did feel like a three-hour way. I've also seen a review saying that like the three-hour runtime just blows by.
Starting point is 00:47:34 And I'm like, no, it feels like three hours, but not in a miserable way. Yeah. Like it felt like it felt like a fitting three hours. It felt like it earned it. I can't really, looking back, I can't really think of anything that I'd... The thing that sucks is like I can't think of anything that they could cut. And even though it's already long, I'm like, there's a part of me that wishes there was more. Because I feel like it left me wanting more.
Starting point is 00:47:57 But I think that's the point. Think about how much is on the cutting room floor for that movie. We'll probably see some more. I'm sure that A-24 will release some kind of like, Blu-ray or something. The fielder cut. Yeah, like, it was, it was a wild ride. It was truly, especially, I would say,
Starting point is 00:48:19 it's such an interesting premise to begin with. because I remember when this Theranos stuff was happening back in when it was happening, I think I was, we were young. I was in high school or just graduated high school. It was like 2014 maybe. And I remember reading about it and I was like, holy shit. How did she manage to scam to that level? And it is just an incredible character study into a real person.
Starting point is 00:48:50 And it gets weird. and I'm not going to spoil anything, but I would say especially the second half of the movie really started to capture me, and I was like, oh, my God, what the f. Because a lot of reviews are like, there's a twist or whatever. I wouldn't describe whatever happens as a twist.
Starting point is 00:49:06 I would just say the focus shifts. Yeah, and it's twist-adjacon, I'd say. Which is for me typical in a documentary. There's a lot of documentaries that start out as one thing. Yeah, and they reveal more. There's Icarus, for example. I haven't seen it. Icarus is really good.
Starting point is 00:49:21 But the Russian doping. Such a good documentary. I mean, it's up there. It's always on the list of, like, the best documentaries. Dear Zachary is another one. That one's very, very sad. Very sad. And very, I've only seen it once.
Starting point is 00:49:34 I don't think I'd want to watch it again. I haven't seen it, but I've, you told me about it. And I watched the trailer, and I was like, that's sad. But it's really good. And I do recommend to give it a try to anyone you, even, you know. There's another. documentary kind of similar that I saw the trailer for like last year
Starting point is 00:49:55 so it's probably already out but it's about like a guy that is he he got the news that he's gonna he's gonna die from something and he documents like his like I forgot what it's called but he makes it like an adventure
Starting point is 00:50:10 and it's that was pretty sad but favorite documentary for me I'm gonna have to say either going clear the HBO one about Scientology Is that the Louis Thoreau? No, no. You and me and Daniel watched it back in like 2015.
Starting point is 00:50:26 Okay, because I know Louis Thoreau also did like a... He did my Scientology documentary, which I haven't seen. I love Louis Thoreau. He's great. Louis? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Is he British or is he like New Zealish?
Starting point is 00:50:38 He looks British. He looks like he's the brother of John Stort. Not John Stort, John Oliver. John Oliver, yeah. Dude, they do seem like... Like they could be brothers. Brothers, yeah. But that's...
Starting point is 00:50:50 a great documentary and I would say my favorite documentary of all time is Dungeon Masters. That's a great one. We've talked about it before, but it is... Tickles also a good documentary. Yeah, that's a weird one. This one's overplayed in terms of recommendations, but I still really enjoy it because it's, to me it plays as a dark comedy, is a Grizzly Man. Oh, I haven't seen it, though, the Vona Household.
Starting point is 00:51:14 Timothy... No, what's his name? Grizzly Man? Yeah. Timothy McVeigh. Yeah, no. Oklahoma City. Bummer.
Starting point is 00:51:24 Timothy Treadwell, right? Yeah, Timothy. He's a guy that just would go out and against all warnings and all people being like, hey, remember, they're wild animals. He would go just hang out with grizzly bears. Yeah, I thought you were going to say against all odds and it's like, whew? Definitely against something. It's a Werner Herzog film. Werner Herzog.
Starting point is 00:51:45 I've only seen one of Werner Herzog film, and it was for some reason I just watched his like Gorbachev documentary, which of like all the... Of all the things to... I was like, yeah, I mean, I guess it was good. Well, he's also in, um... He's in the first season of Mandalorian. As, what? As like, as the dude that is holding the baby Yoda character at first or something like that.
Starting point is 00:52:11 I really can't remember. Maybe I'm getting the story. I haven't seen it since it came out. I'm not a big rewatcher of shows. I should, because I'm, I still need to rewatch Breaking Bad, especially... Oh, man, we haven't talked about this. It's devastating.
Starting point is 00:52:25 I feel like we should just because... Oh, yeah. We got to pay our respects. I don't want to get into the weeds of shit, you know, like DMZ and all that. No, not at all. Because that's fucking reprehensible, disgusting, and immoral, of course. The public does not need to know, like, let the family grieve. Let, like, interpersonal drama stuff, like, just leave that to...
Starting point is 00:52:47 Like, the world does not need to know all that. No, and it's unfair to the very normal people involved. Right, it's tragic. Of the celebrity world or culture. But, yeah, unfortunately, R.J. Middy passed away. Shocking. He committed suicide, unfortunately. And just tragic.
Starting point is 00:53:09 Yeah, it's just one of those things where you, we were at the office and you were like, RJ Middy's dead. Trending. Well, first I saw he was trending. And I said out loud, I was like, RJ Midi is trending. Hopefully that's not anything bad, and I went to click it. And usually when I see a celebrity name trending, it makes my heart skip a beat. But I'm like, it's 95% of the time not for that.
Starting point is 00:53:33 And the first thing I saw was like TMZ. And I was like, oh my God, Ryan. Dude, like, it's heartbreaking because like he. And like, again, you know, this can be seen as parisocial, of course, because I didn't know him as a person. I only saw his appearances and interviews. And it's not really like I kept up with his career much after Breaking Bad. You know, I would see him every now and then.
Starting point is 00:54:02 But it definitely hits because it's a show that you and I both were affected by in a positive way. We love the show. I think we made that pretty clear. Yeah, all the times we mention it. Like if I would actually love to see a percentage, like a number percentage of episodes of our podcasts and how many we've mentioned Breaking Bad. Yeah. And he, uh, he, uh, he was 34. So fucking young. I thought he was a lot older than us.
Starting point is 00:54:39 Yeah. I was very surprised because for some reason in my mind, I was like, he's like to be like 40. But he, to me, at least my viewpoint, because I know I put the. little disclaimer or whatever. But like from my viewpoint, as I'm, as, you know, I heard the news and I was going back and as people do, they, like, I was kind of like obsessively like kind of going through clips because people were posting old podcast clips and stuff of them. It just, it just seemed like he was a very positive force in general. He was very much an active, yeah, like an advocate for disability. He was
Starting point is 00:55:15 he seemed like at least whenever he talked again, I don't know him as a person, but he seemed like such like a gentle soul. And he used his platform for that. Yeah. Like, like again, because we don't know him, like I, you know, I can't speak
Starting point is 00:55:33 to him as a person, but from what I saw and from what I saw him use his platform for, it was nothing but good things. It was for advocating for actors with disabilities and just people with disabilities in general not letting that like define them and he was very like a big inspiration to a lot of people and it's just heartbreaking because you you never it's never easy when someone passes with the illness that
Starting point is 00:56:06 he had in terms of depression whatever it was right um it just uh because if it's go no no no go on sorry i i was just gonna say because it just uh i would say just because it it it doesn't necessarily make sense you know where it's like um from an outside perspective for for people that have not like struggled with with that kind of battle um i i feel like it's it's something that feels like illogical and it's why people always just like even Brian Kranson in his post just straight up was like why yeah you know because you want answers to these kinds of things but but it's uh goes I guess it just goes a lot deeper than that because you don't know what someone's going through you don't know what's going through their mind and you don't know
Starting point is 00:57:00 what kind of um you know chemical stuff is is happening in their brain yeah and uh and like when someone passes like through an accident, like a car accident or like Trevor Moore when there was just like some freak accident or if someone has an illness. I'm not saying that makes it better, but there's some sort of logical link where you can go to kind of... You understand it. Okay. For me, it's hard whenever you know, you hear news that is similar because you know that that person was struggling. Yeah. And I'm trying to be careful with my words, but you know that person was struggling. And from their perspective, of course, you have to understand like I, you'll never get inside of the mind of someone who is struggling like that. It'll never be them. Right. But to say
Starting point is 00:57:58 that the struggle there, maybe not always, but at least for me, I'd like to at least think so there is an end to it. And it sucks to see that. the illness, so to speak, not one, but it, I know what you're saying, yeah. It took over in this case and led to... It overpowered, you know, the rest. Yeah. And that's the thing that also sucks, too, is because, like, I think that things do, you know, things feel really bad sometimes, especially, you know, it's not as simple as, like,
Starting point is 00:58:38 well, you're sad sometimes and it just gets better. Like with, you know, with something... Have a beer. Yeah. Well, I mean, Kim started some good advice there. But it's like with, with something like clinical depression, you know, that is, that is something that is a chemical imbalance in your brain's chemistry. And that's not something that can just be explained away as like, well, just be more positive. Just it'll get better because like you can hear that.
Starting point is 00:59:07 But it doesn't actually click unless that chemical imbalance is addressed, usually through, like, medication or therapy. And then when you, because you don't need a reason to actually have depression. It's not like, oh, things are going shitty my life. Like, you can have everything going right and still have horrible depression. You could just be dealt those cards. Right, right. It's just the way your brain is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:34 And like genetics and. It's kind of like to me it's not a one-to-one, but it's, I liken the kind of struggle like it's like drug addiction. You can, like if you have, if for those who have had loved ones or anything who have struggled with addiction, I know that there's a lot of those out there, you know that at the end of the day, you can be there to support, but you can support the person and help. but that is a very personal struggle for that person. That person is like you can't save them. Yeah. They have to, I'm not saying save themselves, but they, it's a personal battle that they have.
Starting point is 01:00:21 And there's, see, the weird part is like when you're trying to word because I, No, you don't want it to come across like depression is something where it's like, well, they have to fix it themselves. Exactly. I know what you should be there for your friend. And like, it's very important that people feel that at least they have a community of support. Right. When, when they're going through stuff.
Starting point is 01:00:43 But it's the kind of classic you can't. Usually this is used in kind of a, I kind of hear it in like a flippant way. But like with addiction. Right. That's the big one there. You can't cure their addiction. It's their choice. It's their choice to finally make to like, they have to make the decision for themselves to
Starting point is 01:01:04 get better. Yeah. And because that, I mean, addiction is also, but it's not an easy task for that person. Otherwise,
Starting point is 01:01:11 they wouldn't be addicted. No. Like nobody wants, nobody chooses to be addicted to a substance. Exactly. Because it's hell. No one chooses to like be depressed. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:20 It is, um, again, I think just likening it to the fact that it's a very personal and deep struggle a person has. So it's outside of that own person's brain. Um, it is, it is something that seems irrational or, or, it's hard to understand because your,
Starting point is 01:01:42 your, your brain is not having the same chemical, uh, X, Y, or Z or the same. I mean, it's not just, there's the chemical side, but then if you, if you combine it with things happening in life that suck. Yeah. You know, that's, that's, that's even worse. It compound. Yeah. And so it's like, with addiction, for example, um, it really is one of those things that like, people can can support you and nudge you but like no amount of you can't force somebody to to to stop being addicted to something and you can't force someone to stop being depressed right you know and like there are steps you can take because like depression doesn't necessarily have you know quote unquote a cure but you can treat it um but still there's it's it's such a complicated thing
Starting point is 01:02:27 the brain is just so complicated and and we don't even understand at all and it's uh it's just breaks my heart yeah it's just it's just super tragic to see that um and that being said and i know this is uh and i don't want to get in i don't want to get too far into this because there's that whole like you don't want the person to be remembered for right you know this this one singular moment right you because there was so much you want them to remember for their life yeah and like when i was listening to and you listen to it too um his sister's speech at a celebration of life. Right. And like, and that stuff that helps, uh, it helped me because it also helps to like humanize him a bit more other than like taking away the celebrity status where it's
Starting point is 01:03:14 like he has a sister and a mom and a family and all these people that like knew him outside of that that don't know him as, um, Walt, Walt Jr. from Making Bad. They know him as a brother or a son or a Or a friend. So it, I don't, I don't, I don't, I think the, you know, since we're talking about this subject, it's always great, you know, to put a disclaimer because I know that, you know, if this topic is brought up with people who are struggling, it, it can be tough for those people who take in. And for those who are struggling, again, as we've said, there's nothing I can say to help or, or, like, I. fix what you're going through, but just know that there is help out there. There are ways in which you can find that sliver of light so that you can begin to work on making your future brighter. Exactly, yeah, 100%. Because the thing that your brain tricks you into is like when you are,
Starting point is 01:04:26 when you are and it's literally I mean it's a chemistry thing in your brain in that moment it feels like nope there isn't anything that's going to make it better but like that is the trap that your brain is currently in just the the chemical this and that
Starting point is 01:04:43 and there's resources out there which let's throw up on screen and real quick and we'll maybe it's best also since we're talking about it's a topic this episode put it in the description yeah yeah absolutely And, like, I personally, like, I've been on antidepressants for a long time, and I've gone to therapy for a long time, and it has been life changing.
Starting point is 01:05:08 And I know that everyone's different. So for some people, you know, some things work and other things work and other things don't. And also, you know, some things don't work at that time. That doesn't mean. Oh, I've switched medications like eight times. Yeah. Some work great. Some don't work at all.
Starting point is 01:05:24 And I was like, oh, man. And if I had tried this as the first antidepressant I ever tried, I could have possibly just given up and like, no, I tried antidepressants didn't work. I just had to keep everyone's brain is different. Every medication is different. You just got to, you know, there are resources out there and tools that can make, you know, life feel a lot more worthwhile, I guess, is the bottom line. Yeah, just remember anyone out there who's struggling, even those who aren't struggling,
Starting point is 01:05:54 who may even just be going through a down period, who may not even just be, you know, as serious as depression or going to eat. For those who are going through, like, a rough patch, it may not be as serious. Sorry, I kind of like lost track. I had one of those brain poops where my thoughts just left my brain. But I wanted to say, give yourself grace. There's a lot of people where it's, you know, you're living in your own skin, and you can only help but see the world through your vision through your eyes. Yeah. But just, just be kind to yourselves.
Starting point is 01:06:29 You know, I think with the way the world is now, everyone's beating up each other across the aisles of politics and even just communities on the Internet in general. Just everything seems like that. And it's really amplified by the way social media algorithms are and the way the way that things, feed on outrage because it makes money. So, you know, things are designed to make you feel bad. But yeah, just give yourself some grace. Give yourself, you know, it's, it might sound weird, but it's, it's not okay in the sense that like, it's not right, but it is okay to feel the way you are feeling.
Starting point is 01:07:17 There are, it is, it is, as I, in some cases, as we've described, it is the cards you're dealt sometimes. And so you shouldn't beat yourself up. Yeah. And again, you know, not much we can say to pull anyone out of anything serious like that, but it's just, I always want to make sure to remind people. Yeah, putting, putting it out there where even if like, you. You can hear these words and it logically makes sense, but it's not clicking because, you know, it's, it's, if it was that simple, no one would be depressed.
Starting point is 01:07:58 Exactly. You know, it would just be like, oh, okay. You should just feel better. Yeah, have you prayed about it? Yeah, yeah. You know, it's, have you tried not being addicted to substance? Yeah. But, but really it's, it is something where it's like, life can really fucking suck sometimes.
Starting point is 01:08:14 And life can also just be overwhelming. beautiful too. And just because even for a very long time it might suck significantly does not mean that it'll suck forever. Yeah. Even if it's only sucked up to this point. It might feel like forever. Right. It might feel like nothing with it. Oh, in the moment. In the moment, it's impossible. It's so hard for your brain to like pull itself out and be like, oh, it can get better
Starting point is 01:08:37 because it just, when it feels bad, it feels bad. And your brain is not very good at looking at things from another perspective like that. When you feel a certain way. And even if your life up to this point, you know, you might say, oh, well, it's been nothing but bad. My whole life has always sucked. That does not mean it's going to. Because life can be super, super beautiful. And those like really beautiful moments, like when there, there are moments that like click and where it's like, wow, it's, like, this, you might not have felt him yet or feel like you ever will, but, you know, they, they do exist. And, you know, And it's those moments where like, oh, wow, it's almost like this.
Starting point is 01:09:22 I'm not ascribe it. But there's always help out there. I think it's like a lot of the times indescribable. Like the way we're, you know, from the outside looking in, it doesn't make sense. But to the person, like it feels so real and so ever-encompassing, I guess. But, you know, I know it's, we're a comedy podcast. and we got on a bit of a, you know, it's not the upbeat tempo that a lot of people are used to. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:58 I mean, you know, one, we were fans of this show and when news of, like, I remember, like, there's a lot of celebrity deaths that impact people because those people are able to reach others' emotions. through their work. Because those people impact them. Yeah, like, you know, I think of Steve Irwin when he passed. Like, that was big for me when I was like, because I watched it all the time. Trevor Moore, Robin Williams, you know, and I'm sure everybody has their own examples. But it's, it's, it's, you know, usually we could, we could just hop on a segue and transition. Yeah, we, it's, it's, I guess, sorry, I mean, I know it's like, oh, well, let's, let's just get super. But, you know, it's, I think we wanted to pay our respects and also just, I don't know, talk about the complexities of that kind of situation because, as you all know, we've personally dealt with it ourselves.
Starting point is 01:11:06 Yeah. So, you know, it kind of feels like, unfortunately, there is a bit of experience there. And it doesn't mean we have. have like this like overwhelming knowledge and about the but but topic but from from you know it's we have perspective exactly that's that's what it is it's not necessarily but it's like oh well we know everything about this it's like we but we do have our own like perspective from from from living through this type of thing and and i guess to kind of pair what we were saying like in my own in our own personal experience it still doesn't fucking make sense to me and never I don't think, yeah, exactly. And that's what sucks.
Starting point is 01:11:48 That's really what sucks. But just, you know. Yeah. Sorry. But, you know, rest in peace, RJ Middy, you were, you brought a lot of happiness to a lot of people's lives. And through whether that was people who watched Breaking Bad, he's done a whole lot of other stuff other than that as well. As you were saying with his activism, I guess. Yeah, yeah, like disability rights activism.
Starting point is 01:12:21 And the other projects he's worked on. Yeah, and just his friends and family. And I really, I think what was very heartbreaking to me was that I thought about specifically like people that maybe are in his position, whether you're like an actor with disabilities or something that really looked up to him. And it kind of broke my heart thinking of like how hopeless. that must feel, right? Because, you know, this is someone that has kind of been a beacon of pushing forward, et cetera. And then to hear news like that, it's got to be really kind of just
Starting point is 01:12:57 a hopeless feeling. But that's not the case. It's a tragic thing. But it's not the, it's not the, it shouldn't define like your experience or the, your ability to, your ability to, you. to, I guess, see, like, beauty and things and keep moving forward in a positive direction. I don't know. It's really hard to put in the words, but, like, I... It's a complicated topic. It's super complicated. And, like, at the end of the...
Starting point is 01:13:31 You remember, guys, we're two 30-year-olds on YouTube on a podcast. You know, it's... We're two D-words. D-asses. Yeah. I didn't want people to think. I meant D-word as in the podcast. the um
Starting point is 01:13:47 DA and but we want to thank you all for for tuning in this episode uh we will have our typical uh members only portion of the podcast over on Patreon where we'll probably start off a little more upbeat than how we
Starting point is 01:14:04 ended this podcast yeah I mean it's it's also not like I don't want I hate that I hate that I just hate the stigma and taboo about talking about this kind of thing is is automatically like so you kill the vibe, bro. Or it's sad because it's something that should be more normal. We've gotten serious before. But also this topic is something that I really do believe should be a lot more normal to talk about. Because it's not rare.
Starting point is 01:14:30 The weakness is not talking about it. In terms of like it... It's uncomfortable so people don't want to. So one of those things where it's like you might be suppressing it, not talking about it, but I think that's where it ruminates. That's where it grows. and festers and grows. The best I've ever felt
Starting point is 01:14:49 in my lowest moments has always been when I finally talked to someone about it. I can't explain it. And everyone's different, of course. I'm not saying this is like the way to do it. I'm just saying like, it's always helped me tremendously.
Starting point is 01:15:05 Reach out to people you're close to or as we've put on screen or in the description in the podcast, there are tools out there to utilize if you feel that those aren't avenues you want or can take.
