Hi, it's Kevin Donovan.
Halfway through Murder on Mount Olive's 10 episodes, I thought it was time for a recap on some of the main players so far.
Season 4 of Suspicion focuses on the murder of husband and father Kim Gollum at a neighborhood
barbecue in 2009. First, Chris Sheriff. Hi, my name is Chris Sheriff. I was created for murder.
Chris was a star soccer player and aspiring carpenter who is serving a life sentence for
a crime he says he didn't commit. He was driving the car that police say carried the man who
shot Kim Gollop dead. Chris hopes that one day he'll be found innocent.
I will keep pushing. I will keep waiting for that. And I am going to keep waiting for my
freedom.
Then there's Doug Sansom, the homicide detective on the case. He doesn't think Chris was ever a hardcore gang member,
and he feels a little bit of sympathy for the young man,
who says all he did was give someone a ride.
Still, Sansom thinks he and his co-accused are guilty,
and that the jury made the right decision.
He was the driver, just like he says he was.
You know, he was the driver.
You park here, Asfaha gets out, shoots him, jumps in the car and drives away.
Unfortunately, that's party to the offence and that's first degree conviction.
Unfortunately for Sharif.
And that's why I kind of felt for him because he was so young and that drags him right into a first degree conviction.
Christopher Hicks was Chris Sheriff's lawyer at the murder trial. Going into the case,
he thought he had a chance.
The client presented himself very well. He was a young black guy. He was intelligent.
He was going to school. He didn't have a criminal record. And he had a plausible story.
Chris Sherriff's family is behind him 100%.
His mom, Marjorie, says her son is not a gang member,
not a killer.
If he was, she agrees he should be behind bars
for a long time.
Because if he...
I could accept it if he was guilty,
and then he would have had to pay.
He would have been able to be responsible for what he did.
Okay?
He wouldn't have to be responsible.
But I know he's innocent.
Enter a young officer,
Constable Amon Nasser,
who at the 11th hour will come forward with some damaging information.
Not a lot of people had dealt with him, but he has a very, very strong reputation in the
Toronto area, in the West End. And he was a feared person.
That's the focus of our next episode, Bodies to His Name, available now wherever you get
