Hi, this is Brandon Grater from Mansfield, Ohio, and you're listening to Tabbed Out, Episode 15, The Body. Outro Music Tabs out.
Episode number 15.
Themed episode tonight, Dave.
You excited?
Yeah, man.
The theme is The Body, submitted by Brandon Grater, who did the intro there.
Speaking of which, we're down one body tonight.
God damn it. I know Joe B.
bailed at the last moment.
For no good reason.
Yeah, we did a little, I did a little
PI work online
and found out that his whole story was,
it was a flop.
He was lying.
Oh well. Who needs him?
Who needs him?
Keeping with the theme, though,
that was the body,
the band The Body from Providence there in the
background. So we are just
nailing this theme tonight.
Jeez. It can only go
downhill from here.
That's the first I've ever heard those guys. It sounds like
it's pretty awesome stuff.
Sounds good.
Yeah.
Anybody can do that.
I can do that.
I just did.
You said you saw them with Otisani?
Yeah, they played in...
Oh, don't bring that up.
That would have been another great story to tell
because they played in Delaware a few years back
with a band called Otasonic and some of the guys in the body, or some of the guys,
I think it's only two dudes, but one of them was making fun of Otasonic and Joe B. got really mad.
Joe B., you want to tell that story?
Oh, wait.
Oh, wait, you're like taking a bath or something.
Like candles, grilled cheese or some shit whatever
he's like we should have got john pile in here tonight yeah i told you to text him
yeah i figured it was kind of late notice i'm peeking a little bit
you mean the podcast in general this is the this is my best episode we've ever done all right all right so like i
said the theme is the body uh and i guess you could take that in a lot of different ways
it doesn't literally have to be the human body right or no a body could be like a body of water
a body of water or like uh you know the the body politic right it's probably we're probably just
gonna go with the body though
right like like the human body i mean i tried to be as clever as i could but you're not that clever
of a guy though so did you want to start off you want me to start off uh you can get and start off
because i don't have my shit together every i don't know what i want to do first all right i'm
gonna start off with this one because it works on multiple levels for the uh for the theme and i just got
it the other day so it's a new release on uh sound holes sound holes number oh i didn't think
about that that that also kind of works for the theme good one dave uh sound holes number 54
from a project called lung wash and. That's a good name.
Yeah, it is.
You get your lungs.
And then the tape is called Not Corpse, But Larva.
Cool.
Yeah, exactly.
The one tape is called Not Corpse, But Larva,
and the other tape is called Within the Hollow Womb.
So this is like jam-packed.
You just want to play this one and go home?
Let's just end it on this.
So here it is.
Thanks for listening to episode 15.
No, so I'll play.
You know what?
I'm just going to jam the whole thing
because I think these are like C10s or something like that.
They're really short.
Okay.
So let's see where we're going.
I'm going to start off here, though,
with the Not Corpse But Larva tape.
Are you playing the Not corpse but larva tape,
or are you playing...
The not corpse but larva side.
Okay.
Wait, that's what you're getting at.
Don't confuse me so early, Dave.
You're going to run this whole...
The train's going to run off track.
All right, so here is a little bit from Lungwash,
not corpse but larva. Exit 159, Mile 143 Exit 159, Mile 143 Exit 159, Mile 143 Exit 159, Mile 143 Exit 159, Saguaro Cactus, I-10, I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get out of the way. Thank you. so so
so Thank you. Lung wash.
Not corpse, but larva.
Just played one side.
Thought we were going to play it all.
These seemed really short when I was looking at them,
but what did you say?
That was like 10 minutes?
Yeah.
That's probably C20s.
Yeah, that's a new one.
Just came out on Sound Holes, so i'm pretty sure you can still grab
that comes packaged in one of those double tall nerd alka cases that i enjoy ever so much yeah i
really all sound hole stuff looks uh it's got this like a consistent aesthetic with all like
black and white artwork and i like the same font and stuff that it uses and they always look awesome he just put out
a new batch with uh i think there was like a endless time tape and uh a few other things
nice definitely doesn't have the little spoolie things on the back it's a clear norelco case
because it really uh those things can kind of be distracting sometimes.
Yeah, you're looking at that, you're walking home, you're on the train tracks,
and then you start staring at it, and the next thing you know, that's it.
That's all she wrote.
All right, David.
What do you got?
And remember, there's a theme tonight.
I hope you packed accordingly.
Oh, I packed accordingly.
Oh, I packed accordingly.
I want to do this tape.
Now, do we have like a poster of the human body?
Now we can cross off the lungs,
and we'll work on the whole thing.
You want to do it that way?
I was actually trying to get a whole face together out of my collection from the tapes,
but I couldn't find couldn't find
enough so i gave up so i got like half a face and some other things someone up if you're listening
please title a cassette half a face and some other things if you do that and send it in we'll
definitely play it for sure we won't definitely play it it might be bad i would definitely play it um i want
to try this uh vestigial rim tape that i put out a couple years ago
and joe b was here we'd be giving you so much shit together right now
playing your own stuff because you're playing you when i played something on 905 you guys definitely gave me shit well i mean the first person that does it gets shit yeah i guess you're
right all right i can't argue with that have we played any vestigial limb yet no we haven't
surprisingly ray shin from you know what that works on another level because the shin
is also like a part of your body. It's not spelled the same.
I didn't even think about that.
Yeah.
Where is he from?
God damn it.
Like the Midwest, right?
Yeah, he's from the Midwest somewhere.
Somewhere.
Something makes me want to say Kentucky, but I don't think that's it.
Maybe.
Louisville's a little weird, right?
There's some weird shit happening there.
Probably.
Sluggers.
Yeah. All right. This is a really, really good jam. little weird right there's some weird shit happening there probably sluggers yeah all right
this is a really really good jam this might be uh my favorite tape of all the stuff that i put out
still to this day and haley you did the artwork for that didn't you i did yeah and he didn't like
it nope he didn't but last time i do anything real and i think that's the last tape you put
out so you must have really depressed oh man he, man, he's probably like, if the tapes were to look like this, what the fuck's the point?
I like this artwork for it.
No, I think it looks good.
What is it called? Velo Dog Dissuader?
Yeah.
What does that mean?
I have no idea.
All right, so here is 2AM Tapes number 19.
Not doing the label anymore, huh, Dave?
Nah.
Lost interest? Was it this tape that did it? If you're like, Mike's going to send me artwork like this. 2am tapes number 19 not doing the label anymore huh Dave nah lost interest
was it this tape
that did it
if you're like
Mike's going to send me
artwork like this
alright
no I'm just lazy
so this is
this is a good one
because the first one
was lung wash
so it was very specific
with the part of the body
the lung
and also the
not corpse
or the whole thing
but larva
and a little guy
and now you're going
with the limb
which
okay before
we get into this dave which limb do you want it to be you want you talking about an arm here you
want to go blue you want to name something else we'll go with the leg let's just do uh yeah let's
do the just the femur the femur is that a limb well i don't know i don't know why i asked that
that's not a limb yeah it's either a leg or an arm I don't know. I don't know why I asked that. That's not a limb.
Yeah, it's either a leg or an arm.
You can't just pick sections, right?
The stigial limb. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm sorry. You really have to get going now. You really have to get going now. You really have to get... Thank you. Thank you. so Vestigial then.
Off of VeloDogDissuader.
2010, I think.
Two cuts.
Good gems.
Yeah.
I wonder how he did it.
I wonder.
We were discussing during that tape how he used to pump out gobs and gobbles of goods.
Yeah.
And I don't think he's put anything else since nothing this year, right?
No, nothing this year.
God, I hope he's okay.
Dave, hold on.
I hope nothing happened to his body.
Is that what I did there?
But in all seriousness, I hope he's still alive.
Yeah, put some more stuff out.
Don't tell him what to do.
All right, I'll go next.
Since no one else is here.
All right.
I got a tape here on stunned by a project called torture
corpse not really too familiar with them torture corpse i think i got it queued up here but i'm
not sure what side i have it queued up to uh yeah it's um on a tape called maybe it doesn't have a
name oh it's called stop the Mind. It's another double
banger for the theme night.
Torture Corpse, Stop the Mind.
All bases covered.
I think I have that one. I know I have something
from Torture Corpse on Stunt, but I don't know
if it's this one.
Do they have anything else out?
Torture Corpse? Yeah.
Do you know anything about him?
Who that might be? No.
His name is Robert Cruz. K-r-o-o-s like santa cruz no no i was already gonna say that before you started spelling it
what how do you spell it it's not c-r-u-z no k-r-o-o-s k-r- K-R-O-S. That's nothing like the other cruise.
Cruise.
I should have waited until you were done speaking, Dave,
before I interrupt you.
I'm sorry.
All right, so let's play a little bit of Torture Corpse
off of their tape on Stunned called Stop the Mind.
I don't know anything about the Nuremberg rallies,
but I know lots of Americans think of it
as a rock concert. Let's go. Thank you. Thank you. All right. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Woo-hoo! Woo! Let's go. Thank you. I'm sorry. There's a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark
That I've been warring against it all my whole life Step off my doorways.
I am a deceiver, no longer.
The enemy must be responsible for the entire problem. Let's go. I don't believe it. Let's go. I am a deceiver and a liar.
I am so sorry.
I'm sorry for the disappointment, the betrayal, and the hurt. Thank you. Here we go. Thank you. Let's go. You do understand that this issue right here of intellectual arrogance is the reason why people like you have a difficult problem with people of faith.
I don't communicate an air of superiority over the people because I'm
so much more. And if you only read the books I know, and if you only knew the scientists I do,
then you would be great like me. Well, sir, there could be many things that you know well.
There are other things that you don't know well. As you age, you'll find yourself wrong on some
things, right on some other things.
But please, in the process of it, don't be arrogant.
Torture corpse on stunned.
Little, I think maybe that was Ted Haggard there at the end.
I feel like I've heard that somewhere before.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's, I think that's that pastor, right?
The pray the gay away type dude.
Oh, it's that guy?
Yeah.
It sounded like him.
Okay.
I feel like I recognize that from somewhere.
Didn't they have one of those?
There was like a viral audio clip going around of some dude hitting a pillow with a tennis racket or something. Like, Mom!
Mom!
Why did you do that to me?
I don't know anything about that.
It was like one of those pray the dick gay away games.
Why aren't we playing that?
It's really good.
Ted Hager's face is like a very interesting thing to look at.
I might pull up some pics in a little bit and check them out.
I don't think I've ever seen his face before.
Well, don't do it yet.
I want to be next to you.
And I want to look right at you.
I want to be staring right at you.
See the reflection of it in your glasses.
And then just look at the face you make.
It's an interesting face.
All right, Dave.
You got something here?
Yeah.
I think I'm going to play something.
You think you're going to play or you're going to play?
I think I'm going to.
I don't know.
I might just walk out right now.
See ya.
It was something off of this 913
Flood Collective
box set that
came out on
Community College. It's a bunch of
Dayton projects.
It's not just Community College.
Isn't it a couple of Dayton labels put that out? No, it's a bunch of uh dayton projects it's not just community colleges isn't a couple of
dayton labels put that out no it's just community college it's just them i was under the impression
it was a couple but uh comes in one of those big um disney vhs style cases what do you call these
you know like a six tape vinyl box yeah i like this a lot yeah and uh i think i'm gonna play um a lot to choose from in this one
original tongues yeah i think i was gonna do original tongues but i could have picked a bunch
of different stuff because there's fields of blood teeth collection uh heart heart of the horror
plasmic formations might count right because don No. Because don't you get like plasma?
I don't.
Don't you?
Isn't that like after you get like a cut or something, you get like that clear stuff?
Isn't that considered like plasma?
Well, plasma is like blood, right?
I don't know.
Yeah, because you'd like donate plasma, don't you?
I have no idea.
But plasmic, I don't think is actually a word.
Well, it's like a plasma formation, but it's plasmic.
Let's not argue.
Listen, I'm in the middle.
I'm three weeks away from getting my medical degree.
I don't want to fuck it up by saying anything stupid on this thing.
I have a lot of, I really admire the Dayton, Ohio scene.
It's like a, you know, it seems like a very small town,
but a very close-knit, active group of people.
I've always had...
I think I played Dayton twice.
And I've had a really good time both times going through there and hanging out with people and stuff.
Let me see this.
I have this out in the other room, but I haven't looked at it in a while.
This is all black and white, isn't it?
Yes.
This is looking good. So what did you decide you were going to play here original tongues original tongues ah there she is number two
i'll tell you one thing i don't like about this is like there's um
uh whatchamacallit like there's only labels on the A sides and it has both artist names
but one's a little bit bigger and bolder.
Does that mean
are they on, and one's on the top.
Is the one on the top
on the A side
and the one underneath
of it that's a little bit bigger and bolder on the B side?
I think so, yeah.
I think they made the text bigger
for the B side just so they wouldn't feel bad about being on the B side? I think so, yeah. I think they made the text bigger for the B side just so
they wouldn't feel bad about being on the second side.
Yeah.
Well, you know.
So what, did something happen in Dayton in 1913?
Like, did the town flood?
I think so.
I got a research
done on that one.
Alright. Well, there's like a map on the back right well yeah and anything with a map has flooded at one point i think i think that's the rule to make a map you have to be at one point
underwater exactly it's a nautical map a nautical guide all right so here is a 19 off the 1913 flood
collective box set that came out like
three years ago or something like that some community college um here is original tongues © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. Original tongues.
Tongues or tongue?
I think it's tongues on this tape, but on Discogs it's actually listed as singular.
Original tongue.
I thought they were going to bust into the national anthem there for a second.
Hendrix style.
I enjoyed that.
That was good.
Good jams.
Mike, what are you doing?
All right.
With your life?
You mean like in general?
I've been thinking about that a lot lately,
but I don't want to get into that.
What's the ugliest part of your body?
Oh God, the whole thing.
Well, some say i have a wise soul
all right i got a tape here uh on hansen hansen number 195 spine scavenger weighted ghost
oh nice um i think is this just dillaway or Dilloway and other people? I think it's just Dilloway.
Is this just Dilloway?
Yeah.
I think this was originally released on another label in like 2006 or something like that.
And then this came out like 2008, 2009, something like that on Hanson.
This is like my favorite artwork on Hanson, I think, with the the just like the white block in the front
with just the two eyes
and then the red
you know Hanson template in the background
and uses like
a different font than like
not every Hanson release has the same
font on the spine but there is like a dominant
font thing on most of the releases
yeah this looks good
she's a looker. I enjoy it.
Alright, so let's go
into a little bit. It's a C30, so
jam a little bit off the A-side.
Spine
Scavenger.
Weighted Ghost. Let's go. Thank you. so I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. I-10 East, I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. Thank you. Thank you. so so so so Thank you. Thank you. so
so so Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready
I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready
I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready
I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready
I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready spine scavenger way to go c, C30, on Hanson.
I didn't want that one to end.
No, that was like...
Hypnotic.
What's going on with Hanson right now?
Is that still...
Is Dilloway still...
I don't know.
You know, I don't really have much Hanson stuff at all.
No.
I think I only have one or two.
I have that Dillaway and Emeralds collab.
Under Pressure collab.
Actually, that might be it.
Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with Hanson.
Anyway, good gems.
David, what do you got?
Reverse Mouth. Reverse. reverse what is that a butthole
makes sense
thanks
I think I actually did a
a type in
review
a text review
a written review that's the word I was
looking for of this on
the tabs out blog you did this on the Tabs Out blog.
You did reviews on the Tabs Out blog?
Yeah.
I didn't know that.
I don't remember you doing that.
I did like three or four reviews.
I hacked into it.
You figured out my password was password123.
Who put this out? This um abandoned ship abandoned ship which i've got maybe like seven or eight tapes from that do you know who
did that there's like a somewhere from new york twisty cat yeah collab and like uh a couple other
things slasher risk i think i have a tape on Abandoned Ship called My Morning Jackoff.
I'm pretty sure that's on Abandoned Ship.
That was another thing that came in for the Taps Out blog.
Nice.
Now, I don't know who does this label. Do you know?
No, I don't. But I think Reverse Mouth is...
Stop saying it. It sounds so dirty.
I think it might be the guy that does Phase.
I think these guys are from Greece, if I remember correctly.
And I think they do FaZe.
Okay.
The label FaZe.
The label FaZe.
Let me see this.
I like this.
A lot of red going on here.
Looking good.
Of the cloth.
All right.
Well, that's...
Ooh.
Are all abandoned chip tapes like this where they have like
like the black and white like line art on the inside i think they do they might actually all
have that specific line is it i think oh no we'll have to check i like that though that's a nice
pattern yeah it looks really nice these all the abandoned chips up I have looks purdy. All right, let's play a little bit off the reverse mouth
of the cloth tape on the abandoned ship. The End Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 I want to be your friend Thank you. Thank you. THE END Reverse mouth.
From their tape of the cloth abandoned ship 2000-something.
Something or other?
Nine, probably.
Eight or nine.
All right.
So for Guitar Jams,
this is the second one.
I forgot what that tape
sounded like.
Already?
We just listened to it.
Before I played it.
I see what you're getting at.
Smarty.
Just being a little stinker.
Just being a little stinker.
All right, Dave,
do you think it's okay
to go blue? Can we work blue? I normally don't like to work blue because I don't need a little stinker. Just been a little stinker. All right, Dave, do you think it's okay to go blue?
Can we work blue?
I normally don't like to work blue because I don't need to.
All right, but I think...
You're like Bill Cosby.
You just keep it clean.
I'm like Sinbad.
That's why I always wear this windbreaker.
All right, I got my fuchsia windbreaker pants on.
All right.
Is your cross-earring happening?
Yeah, that's how i like to do it
is he still out of the flat top um you know i don't know i bet he's like bald by now i bet
he shaves it all off well i hope if he's bald he just has like a square head
you ever watch house guest that's a good movie phil hartman it's been a long time it's a good
one all right let's get back to playing some tapes here.
I got something here.
This is not safe for work, this box set.
This is for adults only. If this was in a video rental place, it'd be behind the curtain all the way in the back.
It's a Comp 5 cassette box set that was released in the early nineties.
I think a couple of labels had their hand in on it,
but RRR is definitely one of them.
And definitely the one that released this version of it.
It's called sexorama and international industrial noise compilation.
It comes in a big old plastic jammer.
It's got some cartoons on it.
There's some adult stuff going on there.
You know, practice protection.
Practice protection, people.
This tape's all raw, dog.
It's a heavy banger.
There's a lot going on here.
This was like, it says it was compiled by Merzbau.
And it's like, there's a lot of,
there's like five different volumes it says in here
over the course of the five tapes.
A bunch of different stuff.
A lot of swear words, as we'll say.
A lot of no-no parts being mentioned.
Those are some long players, too.
From the looks of it over here.
Is that some sort of weird sex reference I don't know about, Dave?
I'm not part of that world.
All right.
I don't know what kind of parties you go to
with keys in the bowls and safe words.
What are those, C60s or C120s?
There are long ones, yeah.
Let's see if it says it on there.
C64s.
Five C64s.
I'm going to play, I got a tape in there now, volume three.
The track is going to be by Controlled Bleeding.
Oh, you know what?
That kind of works for the body.
I was thinking the name of the track is Body Samples Session Part 1.
You're knocking me out of the park.
But Controlled Bleeding, that works too.
I am.
You know what?
I'm doing a good job.
Doing a very good job tonight.
I have one complaint about this box.
You only have one complaint about that box?
You only have one complaint about that weird pornography fetish thing thing you're holding there and you're like i got one complaint
about it not enough dick i mean that doesn't necessarily bother me it's weird i think it's
weird it's weird but it doesn't bother me um you're getting hot dave why don't you take off
your shirt i don't like the uh the fact that the the spine piece is separate from...
At first I thought it was just one of those weird boxes where it was like...
It has to be separate.
It's off there, so they had to put a separate piece in.
It's not, though?
Yeah, maybe some of them were, and they just cut them that way.
But I would have liked to see that wrap all the way around and not have a separate piece for the spine.
Yeah.
All right.
Give that back.
What are you doing over there?
All right.
So now that the kids have gone to sleep,
we can play a little bit off the sexo.
I've been waiting to play something off the sexo-rama tape all night.
Now here's a track from Controlled Bleeding. Thank you. Drive, you crazy!
Drive, you crazy! Thank you. I'm sorry. Let's go. Thank you. Oh, my God. so
so I'm sorry. so
so Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. No! Ah! Ah! Ah!
There's no other chance!
No way! I'm going have him get you! We're going down! so
so wow so so
uh Control bleeding.
Body samples.
Off of the Sexorama compilation.
Mike, I have to say I'm very impressed with your title tracking artist combinations. I've been doing pretty good tonight.
Yeah, I'm proud of myself too.
Pretty, pretty good.
Pretty excited.
I tweeted out a little bit ago from the Tabs Out Twitter account
about how we were doing the theme night,
and Brandon Grater responded back that when he was submitting the theme,
some of the artists he was thinking of was Skin Graph, Teeth Collection, and Headbuckle,
which I don't think we're going to be playing any of tonight so for two reasons a or one uh don't tell us what to play on our
podcast brandon all right no one does that to us and uh we have we've played all of those artists
before right yeah and specifically skin graft we played on the last themed episode.
Yeah, which actually would be kind of nice.
If we could like...
If we could play Skingraft,
if we could fit Skingraft
into every theme.
Yeah.
Oh, what if there was one
that just didn't work?
Hmm.
I don't know what we would do.
All right, David.
It's my turn.
I keep forgetting
it happens so quick when Joe's not here.
It's like my turn comes up so fast.
Yeah, it's working a lot better, actually.
A lot less heavy breathing in the room.
He just sits there and checks his iPhone all day.
It is a bit cooler in here.
It is.
I'm actually kind of cold.
It's brisk.
That may have something to do less with Joe not being here
and more with the changing of the seasons that occurs every year.
Yeah, it might be that.
It is November, right?
Yeah, it's cold.
Yeah, I think I'm going to play this Bones of Seabirds tape
that came out on Peasant Magic.
Bones of Seabirds is Ryan McGill, who does Cliff Sides,
who we've also played on the podcast before.
And I don't know when this came out.
Probably like 2008, 2009, right?
Yeah, that sounds about right.
Is this a solo project by the way?
Yeah.
Let me slide this out of the...
Which I think Cliff S's is solo as well.
Ryan McGill.
Oh, that's awesome.
I like this
white shell with the maroon
imprint on it.
Looks like a book on tape.
Yeah, it does.
Yeah.
I don't want to look at this artwork a little bit here.
I think actually I printed this artwork. Did I? I don't know. I don't remember at this artwork a little bit here I think actually I printed this artwork
did I I don't know I don't remember you printed the artwork am I well you know he you know he
used a photocopy or whatever but like you know did it add the my place of employment
gotcha yeah they don't give a credit for the artwork it looks really nice yeah that's good i wonder
does it say oh you're saying they don't give like credit like who drew it or whatever right
is that a i thought you meant like people don't give this any credit this artwork i don't know
just it kind of has like a uh a style that you see in you know yeah i didn't know if it was like an existing like in a
children's book right yeah two red wings dipped into the ocean yeah but coming out of the ocean
really they're not really dipped into it yeah we all know judging by that picture how they got in
there all right well let's play a little bit of this uh bones of seabirds hidden
places still trying to get that vellum band on i'm just giving up and throwing this thing it's
so fucking annoying i hate the vellum bands on the fucking pets and magic tape man i'm glad you
said something because like it was just building up inside of me like the rage was just i couldn't
like right now i'm like so on the edge of my seat,
I just want to play this tape and just start picking at some paper to get
all this out of my system.
Bones of seabirds. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. so Thank you. Thank you. I'm sorry. I don't know. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. Thank you. Bones of Sea words
from the tape Hidden Places on Peasant Magic.
Hidden Places, also a part of the body.
No, not for everybody, Dave.
Why do I keep hearing myself?
You're going to hear yourself.
I'm going to turn that down.
Do you normally not hear yourself when you talk what
do uh you want to take a little change of course here a little take a take a left turn
yeah let's do that all right let's go left what's over here what's over here guys
okay i'm gonna play uh a track off the Melvin's Tape Houdini,
a cut called Teat, which is accounts.
It's spelled T-E-E-T.
Yeah, T-E-E-T is just an alternate spelling of T-E-A-T.
We looked this up.
Actually, when I was going to play this i uh did i
text you or did i call you i think i called you and i said like dave can you do me a favor and
look up what t-e-a-t means and you were just so confused you were asking me why do you want me to
look that up i was just looking up for me can you tell me why you want me to look this up first like
you definitely did not want to know and then you asked me where are you as if that was going to like lead
to any information on why i wanted this well i was confused because it's like why can't you just
look it up yourself yeah because i need it there's no wi-fi where i was so i need you to do it and i
want you to do it right then but uh just all the melvins the other uh month i guess now it's been it's
been about a month now but um hayley you wanted me to try to get buzz uh to do an intro for the
podcast yeah and after the show you're you're being a baby and just want to go home right
afterwards so i couldn't do it i don't even remember after that after the show i was being
a baby yeah you didn't want to hang out you wanted to go home i don't even remember after that after the show i was being a baby yeah you didn't
want to hang out you wanted to go home i don't remember that at all i remember i planned really
well and i brought um a tupperware full of pasta with me because i knew like halfway into uh
being there i was going to like just need to like sit in your car and eat pasta which i did and it
was it was it was excellent i had a good time did you bring any utensils yeah i brought a fork
yeah it's probably still in your car somewhere underneath the seat i'm sure it is i'm sure
some of that pasta is too yeah oh yeah i guarantee the top wear is still underneath your seat
all right so this tape might but we were i was a cue in this up earlier and the tape does not sound
like it may be on its last leg.
Yeah.
It was making, it was making some squeaking noises.
Yeah.
It wasn't, but I have the sticker for the wall.
It was on its last what?
Let, Oh God.
Let's last leg.
Your eyes just lit up like a kid on Christmas morning.
Um, but there's the, I had theto-wall sound and video sticker with lifetime guarantee sticker
on the case so if it breaks we'll just go bring it back tonight yeah definitely all right so here
is the track teet teet by uh the melvins off of houdini I've seen a friend go right here
Host a weather bill
Might even better fly by a carpet wheel
Joe needs to join them, maybe it ain't so silent at all
Half of the check on C So drink at the car
Toast no MD
Your name
No one to be
Really
She's not afraid
To fear for
Destiny
Ask not and you
Won't find it right
Acting like a virgin dream
Baby, you're in here
Ain't that a big and hairy habit, Sam?
Talk no empty, got it in the water, hearing
She's not afraid to feel majestic
Ask not and you won't find it right Melvin's with the track Teat off Houdini.
That was a little warped.
A little warped.
That's a little warped.
That's fine, though.
Yellow Shell.
You'll never hear it like that again.
Is this pro-dubbed?
Yeah, that was released by Atlantic.
I'm not sure if you can still get it.
J-Cards.
Cut.
That's cut by hand, I think.
Yeah.
These are all jokes that we're making about um
comparing this to modern day noise cassettes you know what though i kind of feel like on the cd
version i think the uh the artwork is like shrunk like um it's like shrunk down. Help me out. Horizontally?
Only?
You think?
I think it's out of proportion. We can check it out later.
Google the artwork for you.
I'm not Googling anything for you, Dave.
That would be a huge boner.
Part of the body.
On the part of Atlanta.
You're taking this theme a little too far.
Hold on. I'm going to look up the artwork right now. Because I taking this theme a little too far. Hold on.
I'm going to look up the artwork right now because I kind of feel like that's shrunk.
It's not proportional to the original artwork.
You're going to do it right now?
Yeah, I'm going to do it right now.
Because how shitty would that be?
Yeah, look at the original artwork on my computer.
I've got to get up and come over there.
Look at this.
Hold on.
Compare these two side by there. Look at this. Hold on. Look at,
compare these two side by side.
That's terrible.
Oh yeah,
that's definitely like,
if you're,
hold on,
hold on.
Like if you're watching,
um,
uh, like a television show
and you change the format of your TV.
Yeah.
From like a letterbox to whatever.
And they're like,
it's
compressed yeah yeah well that don't because normally they squeeze because normally they just
like um put the put it in put it in a square and then there's like black or something above it
that says like you know the name of the artist and the title of the album and stuff man just goes you know most of the labels that we did that we uh
cover on this show are like one person but atlantic was literally like probably a hundred
people at least right well in the art department at least one it'll be more than one more than one
come on that's terrible well you know what the figure who the art director was at atlantic at the time
i don't want to harp over this let's see what do you got you don't want to harp over you normally
want to harp on this move on moving on all right what do we got what are we doing we could do
how about uh wet fur all right that's one tape that we both brought into the room tonight.
Yeah.
This is Reed Evan Rosenberg,
I think his name is,
from New York.
I don't really know too much about the dude.
I think he usually releases stuff under his own name.
I don't think there's too many tapes.
Bold move, calling your project
wet fur after there's already a wet hair yeah really what came first the chicken the egg
i like on the back of this j card um there's a chicken maybe i don't know there's an egg
it says uh headphones listening is recommended,
and then right below it, it says headphones listening is not recommended.
So which one is it?
Which one is it?
I don't know.
Riedel's, Evans, Rosenberg's.
What is that, white out on the back?
Yeah, it's like we, this is, Absolute Units put this out, right?
Yeah.
It's like there's a diagonal strip of white paint that goes through either side of the shell.
You think they just lined up a whole bunch of them and went...
That'd be good.
Swipe right down.
I noticed that mine is thicker than yours.
Keeping with the theme.
Dave's talking about...
All right, what's the name of this tape? the theme Dave's talking about nevermind
alright what's the name of this tape
chimeric
chimeric
one of those
chimeric
here is some jamage
from wet fur I don't know. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get some more water. so Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Wet fur.
I enjoyed that jam.
I liked it.
I liked it.
It's been a while since I've heard that one.
You were like, I, and then we all leaned in. Liked it. It's been a while since I've heard that one. You were like, I, and then we all leaned in.
Liked it.
It's eye relief.
Good jam, good jam.
I got a tape here by Second Family Band.
What are you laughing at?
The tape is called Wrong Carnival, Kid.
Wrong Carnival, Kid. kid so wait what is it second
family second family band wrong carnival kid what are you looking at me for trying to figure out
like where oh are you dave body fits in here well what would you say if i told you that this tape was released by a label called Ear Jerk? Oh,
all right.
I sprung it on them.
Yeah.
I could have just said in the beginning,
this was released on Ear Jerk,
but there's no theater in that.
Yeah.
Ear Jerk just sent us this tape in the mail the other day.
I've been jamming it.
It's pretty good.
Second family band, a musical collective, if you will, from Wisconsin.
You know, tons of zoinkers.
Who's in this band?
Anybody?
No, there's nobody in this band.
Anybody worth talking about?
Nah, it's a bunch of assholes.
I'm trying to think.
I know Tony Ennis,
which is one of the
people who is involved with
putting out stuff on your jerk, is definitely in it.
Pulled their discogs here here so this is like a rotating like cast here yeah yeah
you know it's like a um like a no neck blues band it's like a modern day bunny brains like a sunburn
hand type it's like a um the merry pranksters it's like um uh ringo stars all-star band okay you know what i
mean yeah i think ringo star might be in this in this project um but yeah so uh here's something
off of the ear jerk release tugging on the ear like uh who used to do that what comedian i think that's like a baseball thing
no it was um what's her name she had her own show like 30 years ago and at the end of the
show she would tug on her ear it was like her saying hi to her mom uh bewitched not i guess that was a comedy yeah
all right second family was a serious drama shut up Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon ¶¶ Thank you. Wow. Wow.
Wow. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. so Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. carol burnett was the name of the uh comedian who would tug on her ear give her ear a jerk
don't i can't believe you don't know who carol burnett is i've never seen it
um second family band with a brand new cassette on ear Jerk called Wrong Circus Kid. You can still pick that up.
I think it literally just came out.
It's kind of funny that I compared that to No Neck Blues Band
and Sunburn Hand of the Man before I heard it,
and it just so happened to sound like those two projects,
but not only that, but those two projects that I mentioned
were accidentally in alignment with the theme of this episode.
Yeah, Dave.
You knocked those out of the park.
Bam.
Bam, got them.
Must be taking steroids.
You must be on juice-head.
You juice-head.
I'm just looking over some of the members here
of the Second Family Bang Rotating Collective.
A few projects, people in a few projects that I,
I recognize, Clay Ruby from, uh, Burial Hex, a lot of people from Drungus and, um,
um, Tony Ennis, who's in Panda Scratch and, uh, Ann Voldome is another member. But I would like to point out that my favorite name on here is one Karen Elliot,
who either does a project or is in a project called Dragon Faggot.
That's a good one.
Yeah, like, is there something about that that you can't find offensive?
Like, that may be the only use that that you can't find offensive?
Like, that might be the only use of, I can't repeat the F word.
I'm not going to, but like, by saying it with dragon, it makes somehow, makes it perfectly okay.
Dragon faggot.
Yeah, see, that's fine.
But if you just like left, like, just left off the dragon and was like, he's in a bang called, you know, shitty.
That word.
I can't even say, it doesn't even feel right approaching it.
All right.
Dave, you go.
My turn.
Your turn.
All right.
Well, I got, I got a pile of three tapes here left.
Not really a pile.
We've got three more tapes here. I got a pile of three tapes here left. Not really a pile. We got three more tapes here.
I got a stack.
I think we decided what a pile was.
What?
I think we decided how many tapes a pile was.
I think you and Joby discussed this and you decided it was going to be
three could be a stack.
A stack.
I think
five is a stack. I would say four is a stack. A stack. Okay. Yeah. I think five is a stack.
I would say four is a stack.
Now, you know what?
I'm going to agree with you.
Five.
Thank you.
Five is a stack.
Thank you.
I knew I was right.
I knew I was right.
I'm going to go back and see if my views have evolved since that episode, because I can't
remember what we decided on last time. But anyway, I've got Nova Scotian Arms here,
Mossy Throats, and Brain Worlds.
I think we decided on Nova Scotian Arms.
I think we decided on.
We're going to do that one?
Okay.
Let's do that one.
All right. I haven't heard that tape. I want to listen. I want to hear it. We're going to do that one? Okay. Let's do that one. All right.
Because I haven't heard that tape, and I want to listen.
I want to hear it.
We can do that.
Uh-oh.
What size witch here?
Because this is a long player.
You're going to have to do a lot of...
We're going to be here all night.
Why?
What's going on?
This is a long player.
Whoa, look at all that tape.
Yeah, you're going to have to rewind that quite a bit.
Did they use it all up?
There's no that tape. Yeah, you're going to have to rewind that quite a bit. Did they use it all up? There's no more tape.
I was talking about this the other day with Liz, with my wife,
about how they're going to sooner or later stop making magnetic tape altogether.
Yep.
And then I think I'm just going to buy,
I'm going to dump a life savings into just buying blanks.
Just buy blanks like it's
just have them yeah no not like it's gold i don't buy gold dave well you know so i wouldn't be doing
that go to the uh magnetic tape standard oh we could do that i'd support that the ron paul people
would support that they're batshit crazy you can get them
behind something like that maybe audit national audio company
all right let's uh no discussion arms this is the uh the evans family correct
yeah yeah and this is on tranquility by the way uh which we played two or three cuts from i think
we played more of tranquility than any other label yeah it's done no no no it has to be on the b side
oh my why because that's the nova scotian arm side oh it's a split yeah it's a split with uh
brian lavelle who's b Lavelle? I don't know.
What kind of body parts does he like?
Let's see.
None.
Oh, wait. Brian Lavelle, track three, Awake for These Eyes of Silence.
Oh, we could have been playing that.
Yep. Could have been.
All right. so here is
Nova Scotian Arms.
The track's called
Zodiac Bends.
Just play a little bit of it.
This is the last cut, right?
No, I think we're going to go out to one more.
Oh, we're going to do one more after this?
Yeah. Okay, well never mind.
Psych.
Asshole.
Are you ready to go?
I'm ready when you are, man. ¶¶ Thank you. ¶¶ Thank you. so ¶¶ © transcriptF-WATCH TV 2021 © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon Nova Scotian Arms.
That was a chiller, man.
I was in and out through that one.
Yeah.
I feel like I just took a nice warm bath.
Yeah, that was nice.
Well, I might take a bath after this.
Yeah?
Yeah. That was nice. A little I might take a bath after this. Yeah? Yeah, that was nice.
A little chunk out of the middle of that tape.
Very enjoyable.
Very enjoyable.
Are we wrapping this up for the night?
Yeah, you ready to wrap it all up?
Yeah, man.
Ready to put a nice little bow on it?
All right.
Ended here with, I got a hair police tape beyond leech pit released by uh
fuck it tapes i'm noticing now on the back of this it says uh it's numbered it says 71 out of
100 and then 100 is scratched out and it says 72 underneath so i guess this is 71 out of 72. The hair police.
Fuck it tapes.
I don't know.
That kind of like turned into woodsist or whatever.
Yeah, I was just going to ask you.
Yeah, because I don't think Jeremy Earl, I think, is the guy's name from woods and some other projects that was doing fuck it tapes.
But I don't think he does it anymore.
At least I haven't seen anything.
Maybe some stuff I've been missing.
Yeah, I haven't seen anything from fuck it.
Not sure.
All right, so let's go out on the...
I got it somewhere in the middle of the tape already
from whenever I was listening to it.
So I'll just start it from wherever it is,
and we'll go out on that some hair please be on leech pit thanks to uh brandon
gretter for our work greater i forget how he says his name for the uh for the the the theme
excellent theme yes excellent theme i had a good time yeah we, we blew through 13 tapes with a couple to spare.
Yeah, and I got a lot more I wanted to play, but did not.
Maybe for November 30 we'll do the body too.
Maybe somebody will submit the body again and then we'll just do this again.
Joby won't show up to that either.
I bet.
All right. Thanks for listening episode 15 here's hair please Thank you. so
