Starting point is 00:00:00 You're so dumb, you just don't get it. What tape are you playing? We're gonna play some tapes. We're gonna play some tapes. Lordy, I hope there are tapes. That's a good label, too. We're gonna play some tapes. Lordy, I hope there are tapes.
Starting point is 00:00:14 We're gonna play some tapes. It's scary. We're gonna play some tapes. We're gonna play some tapes. We're gonna play some tapes. That's a big, big, shoddy number. I have no clue. We're gonna play some tapes. We're gonna play some cassette. That's a big, big, shoddy number. I have no clue. We're gonna play some cassette.
Starting point is 00:00:28 They hear me like, We're gonna play some cassette. 30 years later. We're gonna play some cassette. Yeah, oh, and everything else. We're gonna play some cassette. All right, play the goddamn tape. Play the goddamn tape.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Lordy, I hope there are tapes. Dabs Out Cassette Podcast, episode number 154. I am Mike. I'm Joe. Where's Dave dave oh there's dave hey dave where's david where's david there's davey boy there is joe joe did you say who you were yet i did i said a second oh um and we are all here i'm looking at you boys on my computer screen i've never seen anything like it before i built it's crazy we are just having such a fun time with this future we are all here. I'm looking at you boys on my computer screen. I've never seen anything like it before. It's crazy. We are just having such a fun time with this future. We are just having a great time. And I don't want you to think that we can just do it like this every time now.
Starting point is 00:01:14 You still. I like it. I like it better. No, we can't, we can't do it like this every time because I, it's. Why not?
Starting point is 00:01:22 It saves gas. Yeah, but I think the tabs, that was more of a tactile thing for me like like the recording and the publishing of it is an afterthought it's rubbing on joe's shoulder like just you know feeling up on dave's like shoulders or something more of mainly a shoulder smell too it's mainly the smell oh it's kind of like an oreo cookie okay so either way we are are here. Whole new setup. Got this whole system down.
Starting point is 00:01:48 We have the ability, you're not going to believe this, to take phone calls now. Can you believe it? I told a couple people to call. I don't know if they're going to. I did. Why did we wait this long to start doing calls? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:59 I feel like we tried before and no one called. We couldn't figure out the system before or something. I think there was a technology. At one point, we had but i don't i don't think it worked out so well um we might still be paying for it i'm not really sure oh what's that every 10 years or yeah i think it's a dollar every 10 years so i'm not that worried about what is that it was like a thing that they sold where you would like Magic Jack, you plug a... Your bottles, it's invisible.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Oh yeah, I love your green screen you got here, Joby. It's so fancy. Joby, you're in space now? Yep. You guys gotta stop playing with these fucking backgrounds. You gotta stop. I love Day's Pizza background, though. though it's nice now i might do one
Starting point is 00:02:49 it's fun it is it looks fun dave i heard i hear you got attacked by a dog yeah man who let the dogs out who did leave the dogs out what happened man joe he showed me the the cut earlier it's in a very like sexual spot oh i like that like he had to get yeah i want to say it get ready to hit print screen when he does this i can screenshot all right i'm fine with that too whatever makes you comfortable i'm down i'm down for whatever makes you feel good you can't really see with the pizza background. I don't see anything. I just see Mike. How do I switch to Dave?
Starting point is 00:03:30 You haven't had Dave the whole time? Gallery view, man. I see him every once in a while. Oh, do I add that? You go to gallery view. Oh, I see it. Did you clean that? Yeah, a couple times.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Alright. That was good. oh did you clean that yeah a couple times all right oh that was good that sounded good that's it you can hear my zipper yeah it was like very very clean i will be sampling that good zipper it was very nice. Alright, you fellas want to play some... Do you have anything to say about this dog attack? Oh, yeah. It sucked. That was... Did you kill it? You better kill it.
Starting point is 00:04:17 You gotta put it down when a dog attacks. What do you got, Hacksaw Jim Duggan behind you now? You gotta stop, man. I'm feeling patriotic. You are. So you boys want to play some tapes? Yeah, let's do it.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Yeah, I got two things. Mine go together, so mine are going to be in a block. I know something you don't know. I know something... Oh, wait, you think yours go together too? Because I feel like there's also a link between both of you. Stop blocking with the backgrounds. Stop. too because i feel like there's also a link between both of you stop fucking with the background stop my god you gotta stop messing with the background it's so distracting right it's like when we first discovered doing sound clips yeah exactly you don't think like whenever
Starting point is 00:05:00 i'm trying to talk about a tape and all you do is dumb sound clips that that's not distracting it's not distracting. It's not fair because I have this whole setup in front of me. I've got to record everything. I've got to handle the calls. I've got to handle everything. And now we're having fun. It's really not that fair.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Well, then you guys play some tapes. I can play a couple tapes real quick if you want. Get into it, Dave. Do it, Dave. Where's David? David around someplace? What do you got? It's been so you want. Get into it, Dave. Do it, Dave. What is David? David around someplace? What do you got? It's been so long since you played a tape, Dave. It has been a while, yeah. I miss you boys so much.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I miss you boys passing me tapes. Well, here you go. Oh, that drinking sound. It's so weird how you can't see the bottle. Yeah, you got to turn off the virtual background. You got to turn off Hacksaw Chin Duggan. I can't see anything. It's like you're holding a 2x4 when you hold it out. It just blends into the bottle. Yeah, you gotta turn off the virtual background. You gotta turn off Hacksaw Chin Duggan. I can't see anything. It's like you're holding a 2x4 when you hold it out.
Starting point is 00:05:48 It just blends into the background. Alright, I'm gonna play this Sonae tape. I think that's how you say it. S-O-N-A-E. S-O-N-A-E. It came out on BitFalix.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Wait, for real? This is the thing I know. This is something I know. That's not UK anymore, right? I'm playing two tapes on that label too, Dave. It's a whole new thing now. Yeah. Would you guys want to just play the first block together?
Starting point is 00:06:20 Do we play these all together then, Jeff? Yeah. Do a little Bitphalan violence block then, mate. Do a little block of the old bit of violence, Dave. Now I don't know how to turn virtual background off. Oh, none. Getting from there to here. All right, Dave.
Starting point is 00:06:38 So what are you playing? It's Asami. Who is Asami? Asami. Asami? Asami. Asami? Hold on. Oh, man, now I got too many windows open.
Starting point is 00:06:50 This is hard. I don't want to laugh because this is the hardest thing I've ever done. I think they're from Cologne. What, the smelly stuff that you smell? What a coincidence. My mom's from perfume i still got it even over the internet i still i still make you boys laugh thousands of miles away you could be right now i'm still cracking you up and i love it
Starting point is 00:07:17 music for people who shave their heads that's the name of the tape right yeah sonia sonia goodler i believe is the name of the tape, right? Yeah. Sonia Goodler, I believe, is the person who does this project. Hold it up. I want to see it. Oh, you want to see the tape? Didn't I send you a picture? Yeah, but I want to see you holding it. That's what I'm used to
Starting point is 00:07:37 when I do it. There's an image of it, so you gotta read it. Hold up a mirror. No, it's fine for me. Oh, it's fine for you? Yeah, I can see it fine. It's beautiful. Okay, it's a mirror for me.'s fine for you oh yeah yeah i can see it fine it's beautiful okay it's a mirror for me you're holding too close dave back it up it's like it's touching my nose there you go can you read that i can't read it no no yeah it'll have to be good it's i get the idea and i feel like if people listen to me just go okay
Starting point is 00:08:03 yeah yeah yeah and then joe goes uh-huh i feel like that's listen to me just go, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then Joe goes, uh-huh, uh-huh. I feel like that's probably enough. That's probably more than enough for a podcast. You see the smoky shell? Actually, I don't. I can't see that. Everything's a glare. Again, you're holding too close. We should have practiced this.
Starting point is 00:08:22 What's the case again? Is it a regular Norelco case or is it like a little again? Is it a regular Norelco case, or is it like a little cardboard? It's a regular Norelco, but it's got this paper card around it. Oh, that's I see. All right, cool. Yeah, so this is like a tape of remixes. A tape of all remixes? It's all remixes by Sone.
Starting point is 00:08:44 All right. You tell me some names of people that are remixing. I want to see if I know any of them. Flint. Who? Flint. Never heard of him. Next.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Eric Piotr. Who the hell is that? Next. Zoe McPherson. Next. I've heard that name. It's a turtle. What are you playing? Don't tell me.
Starting point is 00:09:11 What are you playing off of it? Oh, I'm going to do the Blint remix. Blint. Yeah. You ever do Blint? Yeah, I did some Blint when I was in high school, man. I got real fucked up. I'm doing Blint right now blint is another uh german project i took i did blint in the cheesecake factory in
Starting point is 00:09:32 the bathroom i took a shit i wallpapered that place i'll never do it again i'll never do it again joe b what are you going to play now you got two tapes on i'm gonna play two tapes on that same label i'm gonna play this opiate tape um objects what's it called objects for an ideal home objects for an ideal home yeah okay like uh okay well like a like a home that you like. And these are objects for it. Door. A door. Couch. Couch.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Couch door. Stove. Well, there's the four main things. What is it? Couch, door, stove. Stove. Oven. What was it?
Starting point is 00:10:17 Fork. One fork. Just one fork. I think it's beans. I think they updated it for the pandemic, and now it's... It's not an object though. Beans is not an object. You're telling me beans is not an object? A can of beans is.
Starting point is 00:10:32 That's what I obviously meant, Dave. I obviously meant a can of beans. I like the sticker on the shell. Oh, that's tight. Yeah. That's very nice. Is there an imprinting next? Right there.
Starting point is 00:10:46 I'll be. I don't think I've ever seen a cassette with a sticker and imprinting. No. Well, actually, two episodes ago. I forget what tape it was, but like two episodes ago. Oh, shit. Somebody's calling. Oh, snap.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Hold on. Hello. You're on Tabs Out. Oh, hi. Is this calling. Oh, snap. Hello, you're on Tabs Out. Oh, hi. Is this Mike? This is the whole gang here with you. Oh wow, whole gang. Can you hear the whole gang? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I heard mumbling. Hey, it's Joe. Someone say hey. Yeah, someone said hey. I can hear you. Who is this? This is Harvey from TimeSuck. Harvey from TimeSuck.
Starting point is 00:11:29 He was the first caller last time. Oh, no, the wrong one. Hold on. He was the first caller last time. He's the first caller this time. Oh, congratulations. He's the first caller this time? Yeah, Harvey, you're a huge fan, man.
Starting point is 00:11:40 You're just a huge fan of us. I am a huge fan of you. Can you? I thought it was safe no on 10 minutes late no no no no you're gonna be the first one i'm gonna say we're not gonna get another call until maybe 9 15 possibly until next episode when you call first again god damn i i hope that's not the case well harvey how's it going what i last time i didn't hear that you said from time suck and i didn't know who this was um and now i do yeah yeah now i know who it is so what are you calling for harv oh i just was calling to see how you guys were doing
Starting point is 00:12:19 how you guys doing hunkered down man yeah i'm doing all right. Dave got attacked by a dog. A vicious dog. I did get attacked by a dog. A vicious dog. Vicious dogs have been attacking Dave. I'm trying to get him to give me a blood sample so I can figure out why. I can figure out why he's being attacked so often. Are you okay, Dave?
Starting point is 00:12:42 Jesus Christ. Yeah. The reason why I keep getting attacked is because I have little dog treats in my blood. In your blood? That's what I suspected. That's what I suspected. And that's why I wanted...
Starting point is 00:12:56 He's got his blood in bits in there. He's got... His blood is extra chunky. Oh, God. That sounds awful. Well, Harvey, we were... That means that I can't get COVID. No, but he's actually been brewing. Dave's been home brewing COVIDs, and he's up to about 24, I think. I keep telling him.
Starting point is 00:13:18 You shouldn't be doing that, Dave. I got the next four on deck. Do you want to preview anything, big guy? 20, 21, 22, and 23. If I'm being honest, I can't really hear Dave. He sounds like he's underwater. He is underwater, actually. That's part of his treatment I got him on,
Starting point is 00:13:40 to get these goddamn biscuits out of his blood. It's all very technical. A lot of people will ask me, they'll say, you have such a great mind for this kind of stuff. You're so natural at it. Maybe I should be doing that instead of the podcast.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Where's David? So Harvey. I was going to say, Harvey, we're about to go into some tapes here. Did you want to hang out with us or do you got something you want to say Harvey we're about to go into some tapes here did you want to hang out with us or you got something you want to say sure yeah I'll hang out
Starting point is 00:14:11 he thinks he can just co-host the fucking show you're supposed to say no no no you professionals have at it you can hang Harvey's going to hang out for Joe B what are you playing you're playing that i'm gonna play let me see i gotta get my glasses here
Starting point is 00:14:29 michael how do you think you say this f-a-k-e-s-c-h fox but you didn't finish with the the opiate tape saying that that was Thomas Nack. I'm sorry, right. Saying it was a 20-year anniversary, the whole ordeal. I know, but this one's the same deal. You're kidding me. They're both released in 1999 originally. What a great year.
Starting point is 00:15:00 The year was 1999. Okay, and then this one's also a 20-year reunion of the Michael J. Fox one? Also a 20-year on the same label, Bit Phalanx. But both of these were released on different labels in 1999. Fucking crazy, man. Does that make sense to you? You guys are just putting a puzzle together, man. Just like a mind.
Starting point is 00:15:22 This one's a double tape. It looks very cool. Very cool. Very legal. It's nice in a little sleeve it looks very nice very 90s glitch electronic uh design oh the glitch that yeah i mean matrix neo the whole yeah yeah. Neo, computers. I subscribe to that whole theory of thought. That's like a CD drive. Yeah, digital. Are the shells red or blue? Oh, let's see.
Starting point is 00:15:51 That's a good question, Harvey. Maybe you should be on this podcast. Damn, are the shells red or blue? It's a black tape. It's black. Oh, shit. I'm sorry. You got it wrong.
Starting point is 00:16:04 You know what, Harvey? Just because of that, Harvey. You tried. See ya. And he's gone. Alright, you want to go into these tapes? Yeah, let's do it. Alright, let's do that. Thank you. Thank you. so Thank you. so Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. Welcome. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Welcome. wow so
Starting point is 00:27:12 so I'm going to go where? so so so so so I'm out. so so so yes and we're back a little uk a little brexit block for you actually that was just the label from the uk everybody else was from like other was from like was from germany right somebody else for a few the UK. Everybody else was from Germany, right? Somebody else from Perfume.
Starting point is 00:30:07 My grandma. Actually, my grandma was from Perfume. I wish my grandma was from Perfume. She smells so bad. I'm just trying to get the soundboard going the whole time. Hold on. There it is. There it is.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Same. Not easy, is it? I'm doing a lot more than you ever did. Same, opiate, and Michael Fakesh. Fakesh. Michael J. Fox. It's Michael J. Fox. Michael J. Fox.
Starting point is 00:30:37 It's freaking Michael J. Fox, and I think we all know that. Dave, I want to play one, a little tape dedicate it pretty interesting but it's pretty damn scary to the dog that attacked you oh my god the dog that attacked you dog lady island tape all right i was trying to think do i put oh we're gonna call oh look at this who the hell is that i know who who this is. Caller, hello. Hello. Hello. Who is this? Welcome to TabZap.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Oh, thanks for having me. Joe, do you not recognize this voice, this caller? Is it Sal? It is. It's Sal. It's Sal. Salvatore Giorgi from Peasant Magic. I'm going to go get some whiskey real quick.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Go ahead. Sal, what's going on? Nothing. Just ate dinner. Yeah? I noticed I call you, I text you, you don't answer, you don't text back, but all of a sudden it's your chance to get on
Starting point is 00:31:33 my podcast, my very popular podcast. Many downloads, many streams, and then you call right up. I thought this was Joe's. Oh my god. That's what I've been telling him. No, no, no. This is in no was Joe's. Oh my god. That's what I've been telling him. No, no, no. This is in no way Joe's. Well, what do you want, Sal?
Starting point is 00:31:52 What do you want? What are you calling for? What do we do now? Is there a game or something? Yeah, we gotta figure out what to do with the callers. Well, I normally just ask them what tapes they want me to play. I don't really know. I don't really know what to do with the callers except for R just ask them what tapes they want me to play. I don't really know. I don't really know what to do with the callers except for Rasm.
Starting point is 00:32:08 But Sal's not giving me much here. He just said he ate dinner. I'm going to cut this entire thing out. What have you been doing, Sal? Working. Oh, you start to work? What a loser. What a loser. Sorry. What what an absolute loser i know how i want to know how science is essential right now how science makes any money um well the
Starting point is 00:32:37 government already gave us our money so oh yeah we got it until next time maybe they'll stop funding us at that point what kind of science are you making with it? Really good science. Oh, interesting. That's my favorite kind. That's cool. That's my favorite kind. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:56 So like beaker science. What are we talking about? Bunsen? Yeah. Bunsen burner science. No, we do AI. Oh, that's hot right now. That's scary. It's very hot. What we don't know is we're actually talking to a Sal robot right now that he made.
Starting point is 00:33:14 That he made? Oh, my God. Is this Salbot 5000 again? It's pretty convincing. Sal, how come we've asked you to come down to be on Tabs Out before and you always say no? Because I didn't feel like it. Okay. Got him in the hot seat.
Starting point is 00:33:32 Well, guess what, buddy? He's gone. See ya. Call up here. Is this a thing that you just hang up on everybody? That could be my thing. Well, I'm going to cut that whole thing out. He's calling back. Oh, why? He's calling back.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Don't cut that out. That's good stuff. Tab's out. Hi. Hi. Who am I calling? No, I'm sorry. I've always really, really, really wanted to be on your show, and that's why I'm calling back. Can you turn your radio down, please? really really really wanted to be on your show and that's why i'm calling back can you turn your radio down please i like this all right let's talk about tapes you got any good tapes no tell me about the tape not really well yeah like what do you want the call-in person to do to ask you
Starting point is 00:34:19 to play like a request well when i don't know who they are then we rise each and i razz them oh i'm not i'm not razzing i'm not doing material on sal a request? Well, when I don't know who they are, then we razz each other and I razz them. Oh. I'm not razzin'. I'm not doing material on Sal. Oh, okay. I see. You want to play something and I'll try to guess it? No, that's stupid. You'll never get it. Yeah. Never.
Starting point is 00:34:39 What's the last tape you bought, Sal? Don't ask him that. That's not a good question. I don't care. No, it's not a good question. Oh, alright. No, don't you bought, Sal? Don't ask him that. That's not a good question, and I don't care. No, it's not a good question. Oh, all right. No, don't answer that, Sal. Okay, I won't.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Ask David a question. I'll only answer questions Mike tells me to answer. Okay, try again, Joe. This is the game. Go ahead. You ask Sal a question, and I'll tell you if he can answer it or not oh i'm out of questions okay that's sorry sal that's the end of the game uh thanks for calling buddy do i win and he's gone yes and i think what i say every time is and he's gone
Starting point is 00:35:18 all right what was i playing i was playing i was playing playing Dog Lady Island on a tape on Alien Passengers. I think it's called Dolor Aria. Alien Passengers number 39. Michael Colino's label and his project. Out of Michigan. Very cold place. These are some very cold, sparse...
Starting point is 00:35:40 He's got the violin. He's one of these guys who's got the violin but no training yet oh this isn't classical music no maybe he hasn't figured out how to hold it yet just got it just got it it's brand it's the kind of thing where the violin is both brand new and extremely extremely old has had it for a long time but still maybe is kind of like figuring it all out. Dave, stop changing the background. What is that? Little quesadillas?
Starting point is 00:36:13 Pizza? Did you download like a whole pack of them? Oh yeah, I got the stock photos pizza package. Still has watermarks though. All of the alien passenger tapes are like printed on transparencies oh it's really good printing for like you often you don't get a good uh a good print on it that's not vellum paper i'm sorry i'm sorry i said transparency on vellum paper yeah jeez you fucking vellum paper yeah fucking hell I'm gonna cut that out
Starting point is 00:36:48 I'm gonna cut out everything up until this point so I'm gonna play the dog lady island tape because dogs keep attacking Dave and until he comes to me for help they will continue to do so are we playing anything else
Starting point is 00:37:04 this block? Yeah, you want to play something? I got this wetback mani tape. A wetback mani tape, yes. On Death by Mark. Joe, enough with the video feedback. Hold on, let me change
Starting point is 00:37:22 the background so you can see it better. Okay, there you go. Oh yeah, I know this one. I know this one very well. That is his cute little cover. Little cartoon drawing of Manny there. It's cute. I believe he's... I believe there is a dead ice agent on the ground.
Starting point is 00:37:45 I believe there is there a Klansman in the tree being, being stabbed, maybe something going through his chest or was that from something else? It was from something else related to this project. Okay. I've seen that before. Maybe it's an alternate cover for this for like a different format or something.
Starting point is 00:38:06 I saw that too, but it's not on the jay card Mandy Sanchez yeah Joe did you just fall down no I just threw something out oh same thing so I'm gonna play a cut off this tape track called
Starting point is 00:38:26 Fuck Ice 2. Oh yeah, I use that. Fuck Ice? I like part 2 though. When you're really getting it going and things are heating up, I gotta get my fuck ice. Cut it out? Cut that one out?
Starting point is 00:38:42 You know what? I don't even know who put this out. I do. I know. I can't believe you. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Survey says... You got it right. Death by Mark did put this out. It came out like a few months ago, right? Yes, this is recent.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Recent. It was in the before times. In the before times. But still recent, yeah. Are you still getting tapes in the mail? You know what? Jesus Christ, man. I am still getting tapes in the before times that's still recent yeah are you still getting taped in the mail you know what jesus christ man i am still getting tapes in the mail and like are you letting them are you like leaving them on your porch for a day or two no i you know i bring them in i put them in a box and then i wash my hands and then i don't touch them for a few days okay well same difference but um i which is probably kind of crazy but whatever whatever. Yeah, but it's better to be a little bit crazy right now. I am surprised about the amount of tapes people are still sending.
Starting point is 00:39:31 I'm surprised it hasn't slowed down at all. Yeah, you guys don't have to send stuff right now. Send them to Dave, though, instead of me. People's music needs to be heard. Yeah, Dave, what's wrong with with you and we're not switching to digital we're doing tapes only hold on i just got a gift from zoom i think this meeting has been upgraded by the host and now includes what it says a gift from zoom running out of time we've removed the 40 minute time limit on your group meeting oh okay, so your credit card just got charged.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Yeah, probably. Probably. We should say that the Dog Lady Island tape is from a few years ago, and the Death Bomb Arc tape came out, like we said. I received it in the before times. But everybody else is doing wrong. Everybody else stopped. Oh, you know what?
Starting point is 00:40:25 You know what's crazy? And Dave, you're going to flip your lid over this. You're going to freak out. In these uncertain times, when you're constantly wondering what is normal and what can you expect to happen, we get a fucking package in the mail. It's Astral Spirits tapes. and look at them they're not they're not blue dave sit down sit down sit down sit down i don't want you to sit down so i wanted to discuss my cake it's cyan yeah it's something look at that over there that's my astral spirit slot i see i see and i and it's something it's called like astral additions but
Starting point is 00:41:14 what were all the other ones those weren't astral additions i feel what are you talking about i don't know what's how i don't know what to believe i don't know what to believe. I don't know what to think. In these uncertain times when you don't know what day to day, you don't know what to expect, make the fucking actual spirits tapes red. Red and black and white. What are you going to change it from Cooper
Starting point is 00:41:37 black or whatever it is to something else? Don't tell me they changed the font too. I might have to look again. I don't know if you can see that. You't see that it's it's like an outline it's like an outline font is it cooper black in an outline no that looks like it still might be cooper black no it's not i can't really tell no it's not well either way i don't know what Astral Editions means. You were already Astral Spirits, and you were already doing tapes.
Starting point is 00:42:13 So what are these? I don't know, man. I don't know what to think anymore. I don't know what to think anymore. All right, you want to play these two tapes? How about this? We'll play these two tapes. We'll come back, and we'll see if we get any phone calls.

Starting point is 00:48:30 I've been screaming fuck ice since I was a G. Fuck ice. Wetback Manny and Dog Lady Island tapes there in that block. So what do you think? When do you think we'll be back? When do you think we'll all be back sitting here? I don't think it's ever going to happen again. You don't think it's ever going to happen again?
Starting point is 00:48:56 You think this is it? No. This is it? I'm not getting no vaccine. We know you're not getting the vaccine. I don't think a vaccine would even take with you I'm just not going to leave the house anymore I don't think you can man It's going to get worse
Starting point is 00:49:13 I go to the beer store Yeah I stocked up like a week ago To make sure Did a big liquor haul Yeah I did that but then i drank it all you gotta ration it man i don't know how to do that i smoked a half ounce of weed this week are you serious i'm wasted and now i'm out joey's partying i'm wasted oh thanks to uh ryan uh sawler by the way for he donate he paypal does four dollars and 20 cents today so a very funny amount of money oh and like yeah and you know out
Starting point is 00:49:56 of all the places where you can send money to right now you better set you better cut me i want my slice you guys there all right what do you guys know about doom trip records i think i have a comp or two i have a couple comps of theirs yeah yeah doom trip records kind of like a um i think a lot of people might say a scarier hasu Mountain would be a fair way would be a fair way to Is that what a lot of people would say? I'm thinking if you really got out there in the streets and you started asking people about it I'll cut that out too
Starting point is 00:50:37 I think people would start would be saying they are like a too scary too mean but too scary Hasu mountain um and they yeah they put out those doom well i won't get too much into it because maybe maybe i gotta maybe i talked to somebody from doom trip records maybe i already did that maybe i'll maybe maybe i played a mooks tape any percent on doom triprip Records. Maybe I played that and talked to somebody.
Starting point is 00:51:06 And maybe we'll play that right now. Oh, alright. That sounds good. You think we should do that? And then, are you guys... You guys want to stick around? No, I'm done. Yeah, I think I'm done. Alright, play us Doomtrip and I'm going to bed.
Starting point is 00:51:21 Alright, fellas. Hello. Hello. Hello. How you doing out there? I'm doing, um, I'm doing, actually, I'm doing pretty good. Yeah, it's, um, you know, it is what it is. How about you? It really is.
Starting point is 00:51:39 Yeah. If you were ever going to define something as what it is, I believe right now, this is what it is. And there's no, there's no arguing that. You know, that was interesting. I mean, you have a lot of large groups of different types of people, some who are going full bunker mentality and hoarding and going crazy. And then you have people who it still hasn't really hit them that this is even a real thing. And they, you know, think it's just a big joke and it will be a big deal if they get it. And within my friends and family, there are many people on both sides.
Starting point is 00:52:20 And I'm just kind of in the middle going, you know, you're both kind of wrong. And there's a nice middle ground that you can find where you just, uh, do your best and prepare however you can. And, you know, that's all we can really do. So are you interacting that, uh, are you getting an earful? Um, not exactly. I mean, on the phone and, you know, online, obviously, yes. My work is still open, so I do interact with some coworkers there. We are keeping our distances and everything. And for the most part, things are okay there. And I'm obviously glad to still have a job.
Starting point is 00:52:58 But, yeah, it's just, it's funny to see people's perception of the entire situation kind of slowly change over time as more information comes out but yeah hell of a time and you know mad uh respect to you and your crew for still you know maintaining the podcast and doing it well you know well you know many people have wrote to me personally and said that I'm the only thing keeping them going, getting them through this. So, I mean, I'm not going to. But how is that different than any other week, right? I mean, a lot of these emails are from months ago. A lot of them.
Starting point is 00:53:37 I mean, I'm not opening all my mail, all my fans. A lot of them are from a while ago and just like pre a lot of them actually were like if a virus ever if a pandemic ever breaks out i know you'll be the one person i can go to i'm turning to you i'm turning to you and i just thought like wow like i didn't even i didn't even put it together until right now actually we we live in a world where there are so many profits and um this must have been been I am the strongest man the tiny mixtapes era because as we all know very well
Starting point is 00:54:10 tiny mixtapes goes on hiatus suddenly this is the world we're living in some people might call that a coincidence I don't, no fuck that there's no way it's kind of like you know how there's these
Starting point is 00:54:24 bacteria that live in the polar ice caps There's no way. I think there's a connection there. It's kind of like, you know, like, how there's these, like, bacteria that live in, like, the polar ice caps that, like, when we finally finish melting them, they'll, like, release and probably kill us all. You've got to wonder if, like, Tiny Mixtapes had, like, some sort of, like, power. It was like, yeah. I mean, I've written many books on this and i really do think that when they stop yes yes good and i do think that when when they stopped i think maybe it
Starting point is 00:54:52 unleashed the song well i mean i don't think they did it intentionally i just think maybe they didn't realize that they were the only thing keeping this world balanced you're not a doctor leave your opinions to yourself um Did you want to introduce yourself? Who the hell is that? I guess, I mean, if you feel like it, if you feel that's relevant. We don't have to. I mean, I wouldn't say it's relevant. I think the term we're using now is essential. Is it essential or not? We have to constantly be deciding if something is essential or not.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Many of our labels releases are considered essential so I suppose I will. My name is Zach. Zach Emerson. Sometimes people call me Z and that's just fine. I run Doom Trip Records out of Los Angeles. Very nice. You can't hear I'm playing sound clips so this is all
Starting point is 00:55:40 very funny because there's clapping when there's not really clapping. I can't even imagine how funny it is but i'm you on a soundboard yeah but i'm also like i'm doing i'm doing everything i'm trying to get used to doing everything alone i used to think i used to sit there and stare at dave and say that motherfucker's not doing anything over there but now that i'm on his side there are so many like i got, there's smoke out of the machine. There's, like, I'm hitting buttons, and I don't know what's going on.
Starting point is 00:56:10 You know, in all seriousness, I have always wished that there was more actual footage, either video or photographs from inside those recording sessions, if only to see the looks on your faces while all of this is happening. I would love to. Due to a pending lawsuit, Dave cannot be filmed at this time. He is not legally allowed to capture a videotape.
Starting point is 00:56:34 Ah. Ah. And then many people laugh, and that's why I get the letters. So, Zach, do you want to take a guess on what tape we're listening to right now that you can't hear but it's being played? And a real label head, a real label jockey would know.
Starting point is 00:56:52 They would know. A real label aficionado, someone who loved their shit, would probably instinctually know what I was playing. So you're just asking me to guess out of every tape that's been released ever? No, just on your label. Oh, on our label? Oh, I thought you just meant in general. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:57:12 I don't think you're Houdini. I mean, this is just Doom Trip. I have to think of what I've actually sent you. I don't know, maybe Doom Mix 3? I don't think we got Doom Mix 3 yet. Yeah, the third one? Yeah, you got a lot. You played a couple of tracks from it.
Starting point is 00:57:29 Are you sure? I thought that didn't come out until April. No, no, that's 4. 4 is coming up. Oh, so you're up to... Oh, you see, I did the counting wrong. Hold on, let me play a funny number on the soundboard. 3.
Starting point is 00:57:41 And I did 1. Okay, so I have here... I'm playing actually the mux uh any percent tape oh god i fucking love that tape that's very good the guy's he's crazy this maxwell allison he's he's crazy with these things with these synthesizers and such i don't know how he does it apparently he hits these i guess they're called keys on something called the synth and these sounds just come together. No one knows how it happened.
Starting point is 00:58:08 He lists all the synths inside the J card. Yeah, I mean... But has any of that been verified? I was going to say, do you believe everything you read? I mean, who's fact-checking here? I feel like you should go to a notary public and get these lists notarized if you're going to send
Starting point is 00:58:25 me a j card that list like yeah because also i'm not going through the whole tape and like making like a a google sheet out of serial numbers we need to make sure if he does have these things that they're not stolen that's that's a good fucking point man he could have stolen this you know i've i've read conspiracy theories that he's actually 100% digital. It's just Ableton sample packs, you know. I've written a bunch of those. I've written a bunch of those. So I'm glad somebody's checking them out.
Starting point is 00:58:53 Yeah, so I'm glad somebody's looking at them. That was you. That was me. No, but let me ask you on that 80% tape. Have you listened to it before or is this your first time? No, I've listened to it. This came out. Yeah, of course I listened to it. Of course I listened to all my tapes what are you talking about i'm wondering i'm wondering if there's a track or two on there
Starting point is 00:59:12 that stands out to you and for what you're into in the life we live you you're putting me on the spot now i thought i was interviewing you i'm turning the mic around on you oh my god i'm so flattered please don't ask me questions. Please don't put me on the spot. Please just know that I know so much about all of these tapes. As long as you're enjoying it, that's all that matters. I am enjoying it very much.
Starting point is 00:59:35 I'm going to stop it though and put in one of these. I am going to put in a Doom Trip comp. Okay. What is this? What are you putting these out once a year, right? in a Doom Trip comp. Okay. You put, what is this? What are you putting these out once a year, right? Once a year, yeah. We try to time it around the anniversary of our first release, kind of celebrating the annual cycle.
Starting point is 00:59:57 Hold on. I want to, at the same time, we'll say one, two, three, and then both you and I will say when we think the anniversary of the label is. Oh, okay. All right, ready? One, two, three. I have no clue. Okay.
Starting point is 01:00:13 I love it. April 6th. Wait, earlier you said April, but you have some clue. You knew the month at least. When did I say April? Literally when we were talking about which tape, you asked me which tape was on, and I said, is it Dimex 3?
Starting point is 01:00:29 And you said, that's not out until April. So you just, you played yourself just now. What are you talking about? I can edit that out. What are you talking about? You sound like a fool. You sound like a marijuana addict. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 01:00:43 What kind of drugs do you take? So here's what I'm holding right now. I got volume one and volume three. Which tape do you want me to put on and what side? Well, um... I would say volume three. You said what? Volume three, side A.
Starting point is 01:01:00 Volume three. So I'm going to take out the tape. I'm going to take out volume three. I'm going to put it in side. So I'm going to take out the tape. I'm going to take out volume 3. I'm going to put it inside A. I'm going to press play. And when it comes in, you're not going to hear it. Remember that. You're not going to hear it.
Starting point is 01:01:18 I know how it goes. But I want you to tell me, I want you to describe what's being played. Is it on yet? Hold on. Give me one second. All right, go ahead. I can tell you right now, once the music actually starts, we're going to get Earth Eater, Concealer.
Starting point is 01:01:41 Well, how do you know that? How do you know it's rewound all the way? Oh, my God. You don't know where in the tape it is. How do I know that there isn't a piece of styrofoam stuck on the reels and what you're listening to is going to end up sounding like
Starting point is 01:01:55 music concrete? Like, how do you know I don't have like a heavy effect on this channel right now? Well, I would be disappointed in you if you didn't. What if I did? What if I threw it all the way up? That was probably going to sound so bad. I'm not going to do it,
Starting point is 01:02:14 but it's the weird effect that I put on my voice to make it sound funny. Oh, well... You just go ahead and describe what we're listening to. Okay, well... I mean, the opening lyrics, somebody once told me the world is going to roll me. Yeah, so far you're right.
Starting point is 01:02:32 I ate the darkest tool in the shed. Yeah, so far you got it. Keep going, Zach. What you've done to it, though, I don't know. Keep going. Is the finger and the thumb in the shape of an L? I have no way of knowing that with what you're doing because I can't hear it right now.
Starting point is 01:02:47 Oh, Jesus Christ. No, you're not even close. I'll tell you what happened. It's do mix three. It's side B, though. Well, that's not because I flipped it over. Because A was all the way at the end, so I had to flip it over.
Starting point is 01:03:04 Well, you got me, I guess. You know, I'm constantly getting people, and you're just another victim in my sick, sick game, my friend. Prank. You guys, with your pranks, I mean, I tried to prank you one time with a meme that got posted by Nzain Johnny about leaving shrink wrap on the tapes that you send you. You tried to prank me
Starting point is 01:03:25 I tried and uh I believe it was our friend Matthew Sage from patient sounds who commented thine troll do not like to be trolled you well that first of all that's very true but like but yeah don't prank me I can dish it out i'm not taking it are you kidding me i love when people are like they think they're like burning on me because they're like oh you can dish it out but you can't take it it's like yeah no shit no shit i can't dish it i can't take it i never said i was going to take it we should also bring up recently I posted basically my favorite Tabs Out tweet of all time, which was when Robert posted about how he was bullied into not putting shrink wrap on his tapes and all the tapes arrived full of styrofoam bits.
Starting point is 01:04:15 And you just quote tweeted him with the word prank with like five exclamation points. Well, it was a prank. I don't know. I don't know what it is about that tweet. Just the fact that one word and that you're just screaming it it just it hits so many different targets for me so very very good work there
Starting point is 01:04:33 I mean you know when I think when me and my team work on these tweets yeah you know I got Biden's people helping me out I got his social media team helping me out. The recent one of sitting on your hand until it's numb, turning some knobs. So it feels like you're collabing with someone. We needed that.
Starting point is 01:04:56 Well, that's that's true. I think people. Yeah. People need to be doing that right now hey so what's so what do you what no i was gonna say right now i can't believe i can't believe you keep talking over me the host of the show wait that's you do i need to me wait a minute which podcast is this so many so many people are starting podcasts now i'm not actually sure if this one is mine this could be yours okay okay now so go ahead uh um what's that gonna say oh yeah are so are you still you said earlier april 10th for the new do mix is that are you still doing that because the the tape slow down is occurring because of the virus the virus is slowing the virus has reached cassette tapes and is slowing them down now it's true so um kind of two things on that one is that we actually already do have the doom mix tapes they arrived safely and a little bit before all of this started happening hold on is
Starting point is 01:05:56 this is this breaking news is this breaking news Wait. Breaking news. Breaking news. Can you send me that? Can you send me that? Shut up, please. Excuse me. Excuse me.
Starting point is 01:06:13 Excuse me. Can you wait? Breaking news. I have here Zach from Doom Trip Records. There was many concerns about where Doom Mix Volume 4, if it was going to come out on time, if it was going to be delayed. A lot of people were wondering, Zach, can you confirm the rumors that
Starting point is 01:06:32 we've heard here today, that you actually do have the tapes on hand? God bless you for getting through whatever that was just now. That was great. Yes, sir. I can confirm. However, and this is the real breaking news you weren't even ready for this oh my god we are not shit we are not shipping at this time for
Starting point is 01:06:51 the safety of ourselves and for others until more information on this shit comes out so yeah i think that's a smart move yeah we've contacted all the buyers um if you've ordered to mix tape those people will be in touch we got a little goodie of thank you for waiting. Everyone's been very understanding. And most people are like, you know, I agree. Yeah, let's hold off on that. You know what I've been doing is going to the post office and taking the mail that goes to other people and just say, I'll take this.
Starting point is 01:07:18 Just you don't have to worry about it. That's just a good idea. I'll bury this. Okay. I mean, you're walking your life you're living your journey and you know I think that's what we all love about you I do I think there's yeah
Starting point is 01:07:34 I think so so Zach do you have any closing words any closing remarks the future of Doomtrip beyond Doomtrip colon beyond the virus beyond the virus what will beyond the virus yeah I mean yeah we we got a lot of good shit coming up I think a couple of the artists who want to kind of delay things a little bit just until everyone's lives are a little bit more stable
Starting point is 01:07:57 but um once we are up and running again you're going to get a whole grip of tape from us and uh all jokes aside we really do appreciate what you all do. I've found more good music from your podcast than any other podcast I can think of. How many podcasts can you think of? How many podcasts can you think of? Oh, my God. At least 420 off the top of my head. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:08:22 And with a funny number, we end it. Zach, thank you so much for talking to us and thanks for all the many cassette tapes and then the many doom trip compilations to remind us that April 6th is, is, is doom trip day. Great stuff. Thanks for not trolling me too hard.
Starting point is 01:08:38 Take care. Stay healthy. You do the same, man. Talk to you later. All right. Later. You do the same, man. Talk to you later. All right, later. Thank you. I'm sorry. Oh, my God. so so Oh, my God. Thank you.
