Starting point is 00:00:24 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 🎵 What's wrong with the Children's Hospital? What's wrong with supporting the Children's Hospital? Hulk Hogan! Tabs Alcocet Podcast, episode number 180. Exactly 180. It's so weird that you play that Macho Man clip again. Why don't we get it clean? The Children's Hospital.
Starting point is 00:00:43 What's wrong with that? What's wrong with the Children's Hospital? What's wrong with that? What's wrong with the Children's Hospital? What's wrong with supporting the Children's Hospital? I was just talking about him today because I saw Macho Man on a package of Slim Jim and I thought, like, out of respect to the dead, we take him off the Slim Jims. You know what I'm talking about. Or keep him on. I don't know what's more respectful.
Starting point is 00:01:00 I don't know. It's not to me. But like I said, Tab's out. Episode number one on Journey. I'm Mike. I'm Jamie. they've been dubbed so often they're practically worthless we were supposed to have this is supposed to be a joe b episode yeah can you believe this can't believe it go to joe he said he thought it was next week
Starting point is 00:01:17 yeah i don't know man i don't know yeah just say you have covet related symptoms nobody questions that yeah how dare you but jamie since do you think we can handle we can probably play the tapes i have i have i mean i always have several a large stack that i'm ready to crack some skulls real quick i don't get sidetracked but which who was that which one's that uh that was uh it was corn and mr bunga together okay okay i'm not gonna get into it let's i'm gonna do let's get into our tapes let's play let's play our kind of music yeah our generation's music you know what i mean yeah not not your parents music this isn't your parents music you want well you want to play one that you brought you want to play the one that i that i got stacked up here um i'll i'll
Starting point is 00:02:10 kick it off with one you want to kick it off with this one or maybe not this is a very very fancy looking one i've been seeing this tape and i love my music i'm talking about the Cabo Boing tape If you know what I'm talking about With the clown on the cover This troll And he's got his tongue out Stop it while I'm talking He's licking ice cream This is a horrid one
Starting point is 00:02:37 Or you can start off with something else You don't have to do my suggestion Jamie, please This is a person called Adam Boyd From the Carolinas Or you can start off with something else. You don't have to do my suggestion. Jamie, please. This is a person called Adam Boyd from the Carolinas. From North Carolina, right? From the Carolinas, yes. Can I guess which Carolina? I think it's North, but you also can guess.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Is it North Carolina? Bing, bing, bing. I got it. I did some research myself. Yeah. So this person sent three tapes, I know. Bing, bing, bing. I got it. I did some research myself. Yeah. So this person sent three tapes, I believe, and they're all a little bit wacky, and am I allowed to say this?
Starting point is 00:03:13 They remind us a little bit of... No, no, don't bring in that weird stuff. They remind me a little bit. Don't bring in the weird stuff. I'm going to cut it out so I don't say it. You always try to do weirder stuff than you need to do. The Children's Hospital. Jamie, what do you have against the kids?
Starting point is 00:03:25 That stabs out canon for some reason now you have something against children's hospitals what's wrong with that you coward what's wrong with that you wuss you understand that cut cut in the fence is the name of the label right yeah i think so i believe that's adam void's label yeah you know why i think that because all the releases are out of every fucking one there's not even room for a bud or a duo that you're still in what do you mean a bud a friend oh bud oh buddy a friend what did you think i meant i thought that was like a type of duo like you got a duo a trio you got a bud that actually yeah two two noisers is a bud oh we have fun um but yeah it's their label and this is this is the first release on cutting the fence isn't it are you sure uh-huh i am very much sure about it because I looked it up. And this one sounds like a bunch of little lo-fi drum machines.
Starting point is 00:04:28 How low? Super low. How low is this fidelity? The fidelity is unacceptably low. Wait till you hear this. How mad were the fidelity? The lowness of the fidelity is going to make me how mad? And it's released on cassette, too.
Starting point is 00:04:44 So the fidelity gets even lower. Even worse. Makes me madder. fidelity is going to make me how mad but and it's released on cassette too so you said the fidelity gets even lower even worse yeah this is getting worse as it goes on hand me the team I gotta say this Adam Boyd person I don't know what their personal life is like but their website is a wreck their website is a body check out the website yet please Please clean it up. Please organize. You can write it off. Jump. There's no sense in checking it out. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:10 This is all coming back to me, what these tapes are. Yeah. As soon as I saw this blue painter's tape, the piece that's, like, poorly ripped off to keep the Noroco shut. Yeah. Which I got to ask. It's a poor man's Band-Aid. But, like, what do you need the Noroco?
Starting point is 00:05:23 Why is it to be shut so securely what's going on maybe it uh doesn't dampen the vibrations uh in transit no that's it no you know what we should do so we should have some studies done seismic research yeah yeah i will you know now that i'm looking to get to the lab what am i seeing here oh there's some some remnants on this blue tape now it looks like absolute shit um but i think it's supposed to yeah actually i mean it's really fucking good it looks so it's so it's just the kind of right yeah yeah just the kind of there's a market for this there are people who will eat this kind of bullshit up, and I am one of them.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Why does the tape say punk void on it? Noise void, punk void. Are those, oh, those are the stylistic musics? Yeah. It's like one side kind of like punk. And the other side is kind of like noise. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:06:24 And there's like some drawings of like noise. Yeah. All right. And there's like some drawings in here. Very nice. Released in 2017, Jamie. So, yeah, I guess it did not sell out. So we're going to make it sell out here tonight. Get your copy while they last. Where can they go to get one?
Starting point is 00:06:42 They just go around the Internet? Right to the Adam Boyd Bandcamp page. File's done. All right, I got my copy. And then I get to... I'm going to play... I'm going to throw two on. Why not? All right.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Two strips of bacon. Maybe we're talking about two different tastes here. Oh. Mono y mono. Okay. Jamie, they're both going to... Give me some real exciting music. Give me some real exciting intro music, please both of these tapes are on the same label and
Starting point is 00:07:22 that label is called exiles I believe believe it's capital. All the letters are capital. They're the biggest letters you got on the keyboard. I see that. Exiles. There's two of them here. Urban Failure is one. Recurring Errors. And the other one is, I believe it's spelled I believe it's maybe Nostas.
Starting point is 00:07:40 N-O-A-H-S-T-A-S And there's a space between every single letter. The tape's called Black Bile. They're both on Exiles. N-O-A-H-S-T-A-S And there's a space between every single letter Alright The tape's called Black Bile They're both on Exiles I want you to real quick We'll get to a little bit about all of them But real quick
Starting point is 00:07:51 Take the Urban Failure tape The one that kind of has It plays with that idea of the red and blue 3D Oh yeah Sorry Take a look at that shell in there Take a look at that shell in there. Take a look at that shell.
Starting point is 00:08:07 It's a nice shell. Are you kidding me? Look at the... What's going on? Like a laser was involved. Yeah. They contact some of our scientists at NASA. Have left due to budget cuts. They've left NASA.
Starting point is 00:08:19 They are now working on this gazette shell. Well, that's why we use SpaceX now for all of our interplanetary needs. Thank God. Yeah. It feels real nice in my finger. I don't want you to touch it, Mike, because it might rub off. You don't think I've been touching it? Yeah. It had so much more on there before you got here. Earlier today, it was covered. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:36 No, it's beautiful. Those 3D printers, we've got to be careful about those. Yeah, these driverless tapes that they're getting, they play themselves. The Children's Hospital. What do you have against the Children's Hospital? But what's going on there? There's a gray tape.
Starting point is 00:08:52 It's laser engraved. That's nice. These thin lines that make the art. I don't think National Audio is doing that. I don't think Duplication.ca is doing that. I think you've got to take this somewhere else. I don't know who you talk to. When you put it up in the light like that. Let me get it back. It's doing that i think uh you gotta take this somewhere else i don't know who you talk to yeah when you put it up in the light like that past let me get it back let me actually touch the prism
Starting point is 00:09:10 it's just reflect refracting light in all different directions gorgeous it's just goddamn gorgeous and the the tron kind of font that's going on here i love it it. But yeah, that is... What is this? I see on Discogs it says Exiles is a legendary label from Budapest. But they started in 2017. So I don't know how legendary you can get in five years time. You know I'm part
Starting point is 00:09:37 Hungarian? Which part? I'm a quarter Hungarian. Which quarter? Yeah. Why don't you look up Urban Failure on Ex quarter? Yeah. So I wanted to discuss my cake. Why don't you look up Urban Failure on Exiles? You can tell me how to pronounce everything. Oh, yeah. Hurry up.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I can't Google it fast enough. Well, this Urban Failure, most of their releases are on a label called Herb Sounds. You are a big... Mano y mano, okay. Look at that chill. And to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Jamie... It wouldn't surprise...
Starting point is 00:10:11 Jamie. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if there were modular synthesizers on this tape. By the way it sounds. By the way it sounds, it wouldn't surprise me... Actually, you know what? Let's do an exercise. Can you tell the difference between a semi-modular and a modular? You're not a true noise head.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Let's try a little exercise. Tell me there are modular synthesizers on this tape. There are modular synthesizers on this tape. No biggie. I already kind of caught that. And the other tape, I think it's Noah Stas, I was saying. Black Pile. Probably.
Starting point is 00:10:47 This one's scarier. Yeah, it looks scary. Did you bring another diaper, Jamie? Because this one's scarier. Another diaper. Too scary. They're also from, well, they're from Hungary. I thought of a comeback to Another Diaper.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Can you ask me that again? It hasn't been that long, so I think you can do it. What is it? No, no, say, did you bring another diaper oh okay when when no no just just say the words did you bring another diaper right now yeah yeah you want me to come up with a comeback no no i have a comeback for that what is it no just say it set me up set me up and then i'm gonna play those two it depends file's done did you bring another diaper it depends jamie please not much what's up with you Thank you. I'm gonna go home, I'm gonna go home, I'm gonna go home I'm gonna go home, I'm gonna go home

Starting point is 00:24:52 All school are right here. Shut up. On Cutting the Fence, Urban Failure, Reoccurring Errors on Exiles, and the other one on Exiles, Noah Stiles, I think we're landing on that, Black Bile. Oh, yeah. So scary. No needaz. I think we're landing on that black bile. Oh yeah. So scary. No need to be so scary. Everyone can be a little bit scary one time a year.
Starting point is 00:25:11 It's called Halloween. Maybe like brooding. Yeah. Not scary. You can do brooding all year long. You can do that or do it on your own time. He likes noise. He does but he doesn't like to be scared. Welcome. Goodbye. Alright Jamie you think it's ready to do this Cabo Boeing or what? Yeah, let's share it.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Let's share this as a this has never been done. This is going to be scary. Do you want to share a play, a pick? It's not your pick. It's not my pick. It's our going in together. We're unionizing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Yeah, let's do that do that well what are your demands my demands are no mastering I want to say first of all here's my demands I want you to inside this J card read all of this oh I can't do this my eyes are getting worse man
Starting point is 00:26:01 we've talked about this before we've mentioned it. Listen, I know I mentioned it with the orange milk font. Yeah. How they're too small. Fonts are getting small. And fonts are getting so small, and I'm looking at it, and my eyes are going crazy.
Starting point is 00:26:14 They're making this tape for these zoomers. I don't even think it's that at this point. You know what I think it might be? It might be like an OK Boomer thing on me. On you, OK. Because they're getting so small. But if you see this one, you'll understand. okay boomer thing on me on you okay because it's getting they're getting so small but if you see if you see this one you'll understand how many lines of type are on the inside of that
Starting point is 00:26:30 oh it's got to be 50 it's it's got to be 50 lines it's way more than 50 jimmy i think it's 100 at least 100 lines yeah there's so much it might be it's crazy there's so much on there you got to be you got to be nuts to uh to read that. You need your magnifying glass. You'd have to be committed to read all of that. Oh, my God. What's wrong with that? Jamie, stop. They make up for it with the crazy cover art,
Starting point is 00:26:59 and I know it's iconic cover art. It's iconic. Talk about iconic. This ice cream, these cones. Real gems for little jewels. Now get clown music. Get some clown music. You think I just have clown music?
Starting point is 00:27:15 All I have is the horn. The clown gave me the horn but I don't have any other. There it is. No, I'm talking about music that clowns listen to. I love also the little balloons in the corner it's it's perfect art it's perfect art it's so odd though that like look at the shell uh totally that's the right tape that's the tape this is the yeah right aren't you confused i'm confused i thought you held up a different tape you would have thought i was trying to prank you and i was trying to do some sort of fun cassette prank because no this tape
Starting point is 00:27:47 it looks like it's something completely different yeah there's no clowns there's no balloons i see black and white art on the back or something it's like yeah like a little porcelain dot i'm not really getting it but no this is real gems for little jewels okay so. And it says, someone you know deserves a treat. And it's on Yard Records. Yard, yeah. Number 23. So I think we all know it's just going to be
Starting point is 00:28:11 a wacky adventure. Through the media waves, you know. We're going to go on a little adventure together. Let's do it. Okay, well, that was both of our picks. So now who gets... Now, there's no president for this.
Starting point is 00:28:26 I don't know what to do. You may go. So you know this label, Dinzoo Artifacts. You heard about this label? You read about this label? Of course I have. What are you talking about? I think Joe was on the show, as a matter of fact. Yeah, that's like a level four cassette label. Of course I'm like, Jamie.
Starting point is 00:28:46 So you infuriate me just by asking me that. Put reverb on my voice right now. You have infuriated me, Dindu Artifacts. Of course I do. I bought a batch by them recently. Did you really? Yeah. Tell me all about it.
Starting point is 00:29:04 I can't tell you all about it because there's too much. The tape's worked! But I will tell you one of the catalyzing reasons for me getting this batch was this tape here. What is it? This is Jeremiah Zimmerman and John McCowan. Who the hell are they?
Starting point is 00:29:18 Who the hell are they? They're two clarinet players. Who the hell is that? Jeremiah Zimmerman. Hold on, hold on, hold on. How did they even meet each other? They're two clarinet players? There's a clarinet scene in New York City.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Oh, shit. They were at a clarinet bar. Yeah. If I knew anything about a clarinet, I would tell you the signature drink at this clarinet bar. But I don't even know what a clarinet, what is that, a drum? It's a woodwind. It's a woodwind.
Starting point is 00:29:45 It's a woodwind. It's difficult to play. Do you know that? You gotta be good at transposing to play clarinet. Interesting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:53 But Jeremiah Zimmerman, he's got a podcast. It's my second favorite podcast to this podcast. Not as good as Tabzak. Can I guess which one it is? Sure. Cereal.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Yeah, cereal. Comptown. No. No? What is it? It Cereal. Yeah, cereal. Comptown. No. No? What is it? It's called the 5049 Podcast. 5049? Yeah. Hold on. It's a super good podcast. I think it's all done. I think it's wrapped up, but that's how I became familiar with this guy
Starting point is 00:30:19 and a big fan of his work and I saw he was doing something with Dinzoo. He doesn't usually do stuff with cassette labels. So I decided to check it out. Why not? What's the beef? I don't know. Just not his thing.
Starting point is 00:30:31 What's the history there? What goes way back? I don't know. Let me say it. I don't know. He's more into CD labels. Why? What's the beef?
Starting point is 00:30:39 I don't know. I'm not going to speak for him. I don't know why I'm about to say something so dumb, but this is like some early on tapped out stuff. Has Dindu Artifacts always put the catalog number on its side like that? I think so. Can you check some of mine?
Starting point is 00:30:55 I don't know where they are right now. I feel like you could just spot them on the shelf. Let's move on. I don't want to do that. There's a lot of white spines. Dindu Artifacts still with their proprietary blend of fonts and colors. The black and white. You know, it has been.
Starting point is 00:31:17 Actually, Jamie, I snapped at you a little bit. Let me apologize. Let me go back a little bit. Let me apologize, okay? Okay. Because I can be a big man sometimes. I snapped you earlier when you said like do you know denso artifacts and i was like you motherfucker i didn't say that but i was thinking you motherfucker you were thinking that yeah well i appreciate your uh your candor of course i do yeah i kind of forgot though it's
Starting point is 00:31:41 been so long i kind of forgot when you fold out the J card, the release numbers. Oh yeah. I forgot about that too. It's so heavy. It's almost like a, something that you put like on your dashboard when you're parking in a parking lot. I bet you,
Starting point is 00:31:55 you could get away with parking at any parking lot with a Dinsu artifact chain. Look at that. The way it folds. And you can prop it up too. Yeah. And you're going to tell me like some like parking lot attendants going to go and look at that?
Starting point is 00:32:05 Yeah. And how long are they going to stare at this J card for before they go, whatever, man. Whatever. They're not paying me enough for this shit. This is good. Yeah, I'm going to start doing that. I got a few dinzoos. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:17 That's what I'm going to do. Do it. I dig that they've kept this proprietary blend this long. How long have they been going for? Look it up. I'm going to guess while I'm looking it up, I'm going to guess since 2016. Do you think longer? I think I'm going to say, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:33 I'm going to say longer, but I'll say 2015. What's the answer? I just got to let you know. I'm going to pat myself on the back right now. I typed it in. A-R-T-E-F-A-T-C-S. I knew the spelling. That's level four, Jamie.
Starting point is 00:32:48 This is level four tape stuff. Jesus Christ, man. Their first release was Monte Burroughs in, I said Monte. Is it Monte or Monte? What year was it? 2016. Oh, you were right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Okay. And they got the 01 real big on it. Oh. Real big. I love it. Original. All right. Then what am I going to play? There's the Cab on it. Oh. Real big. I love it. Original. All right, then what am I going to play? There's the Cabo Boing.
Starting point is 00:33:08 There's this tape. And then, wait, there's just two people, but you only really talked about one. I'm not really familiar with John McCowan. So we should just shut up and move on. He's another clarinetist. But it's two clarinets. I believe it's free improvisation.
Starting point is 00:33:22 It's super cool. I love the sound of the clarinet. I still can't get over two clarinets. I've it's free improvisation is super cool i love the sound of the clarinet i still can't get over two clarinets i've never heard of such a thing is there a part when they kind of like they just start hitting each other with them they duel with their clarinets um it's gotta possibly with this extended technique it's impossible to tell what they're doing i do you think it's illegal to speaking of extended technique to put like an extender on your clarinet so you can hit whack somebody further away
Starting point is 00:33:48 with it yeah you gotta figure it probably does get after a while with just clarinets get boring enough that you do just start fighting with them maybe these cats are good man wait till you hear what they can do with their horns I'm excited
Starting point is 00:34:03 I got horns too okay you got some horns oh you think you're the only one who brought a horn I won't do that one give me some biscuit you gotta make it quick Cecilia Lopez and Joe Moffat. Capricos on Triptix Tapes. Hold on, let me take a sip of water. Six Tix Toc. Six Tix Toc Chicks. Triptix Tapes. That is a tricky one to say.
Starting point is 00:34:42 This was released last year in addition of 75 it's got this like uh it's like the pixar all right i'm gonna go on addition of 75 google edition 75 and see what comes up see if this tape comes up cecilia lopez and joe moffitt yeah it does the first result will you do me a favor will you go to their band camp and do a little dramatic reading of the um can you can you uh tell me that label name again like trip ticks one word tapes trip ticks tapes these two have been playing together as a since 2018 they've been playing together uh they've been blown on these horns together since 2018 but this is their first release as a duo. What are you doing over there?
Starting point is 00:35:28 How do you spell this thing? Oh, I found it. Trip, like Sarah Palin's son. And what was your question? I didn't have a question. I had a demand. You had a demand. I had a demand.
Starting point is 00:35:41 I want you to go to their band camp, and I want you to do a dramatic reading of their biography so we can give our listeners a taste of who they are. Is this tape called The Inflatable Leviathan? It is not. Is this tape called Zenith Nadir? Keep guessing. Is this tape called The Red Barn?
Starting point is 00:35:56 It is not. Is this called Old Time Music? Nope. Keep going. They're giving you an older one, then. Keep going. El DeClevi. The Dread Sea.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Not even close. Relatives. Nope. Capriccios. Capriccios. Yes. going they're giving you an older one then keep el de clevi keep the dread sea not even relatives no capricios capricios yes you got it you got it that was the one i was gonna say no and have you keep guessing but like i don't know would that even have been funny yes capricios is the debut release of cecilia lopez and joe moff as a duo ensemble. The album is a collection of improvised pieces for synthesizer and amplified trumpet. Brusque, mercurial, and intense, Capriccio's lurches from circuit-bent gurgles to horn blasts to waves of static
Starting point is 00:36:34 making for an unpredictable listening experience. I don't think that's what I want you to read. I want you to read... Never mind. You always fuck this up. I got it. No, you don't get to do it now. Recording engineer, Kevin Ramsey.
Starting point is 00:36:48 No, you always mess this up. You never read the thing I write. We're going to get this right one of these days. Now I'm dropping it. Don't drop it. What else did I want to say about this? They're blowing on these horns. They love blowing on the horns.
Starting point is 00:37:01 They love giving sweet little kisses to the horns. They give the horns. I don't know what he's got against kids in a children's hospital. There's parts when it sounds like they're rubbing the horns' bellies and the horns are just having a nice time. So you think your two clarinets is cool. What do you see? What do you hear
Starting point is 00:37:16 these horns? So we got clown horns, clarinet horns, and then horn horns. Am I making you horny, Jamie? Have we considered... Set you up for that one. Set you up. I put it right there on the tee, and you just whacked it out of the field. Jamie.
Starting point is 00:37:33 I mean... It's hard to overlook the possibility I may be making you horny right now. And we haven't even considered... I haven't even considered with that Cabo Bung tape. Do you know where they got to duplicate it? No. Bozo did the dub.
Starting point is 00:37:52 That's nice. Thanks. Ladies and gentlemen Rollins Band. Alright let's play these three. Alright let's do it. Like a little cowboys, messy, happy, horse, wacky, standard cartoon characters They jump and climb, they dance like me I'm one of them, they turn one way
Starting point is 00:38:41 Bronco Billy, still your baby, looking so grown up Ready to herd the cattle, safely past danger Rustlers in that must fly, and we threw out the cannon Like all little cowboys playing hide and seek We're the standard cartoon characters, and don't think twice Cowboys playing hide and seek For peace standards Go to character school Don't think twice Think inside me I'm one planet
Starting point is 00:39:15 I'll join one way Where's the sun? Where's the sun? Where's the sun? Warpy standards Come to character And don't be sorry Things like me I'm one for all I'm a monster You are the muscle You are the muscle, you are the new soul of Madonna.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Everything they say is true. You are the singer, you are the song You are the Madonna, everything you know is song I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, I'm here So I'm just... ...coming home You are the puzzle You are the puzzle. You are the song they love
Starting point is 00:41:28 McDonald's everything you know is wrong I'm going to go to bed. ¶¶ I don't know. ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ Thank you. so wow um © BF-WATCH TV 2021 ¶¶ © BF-WATCH TV 2021 ¶¶ I'm sorry. Thank you. so hmm Hmm.
Starting point is 00:47:26 Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. so so
Starting point is 00:48:33 yes I'm sorry. so um so uh so hmm ¶¶ Thank you. so we're back uh what's up with that we gotta figure out what what is up with that cabo boing real gems for little jews on hoard um that's a boingy boingy tape look up on the who brian i forget the name already right i think it was ryan brian ryan brian what is it figure that out um and then jeremiah jeremiah cyberman cyberman jeremiah the cyberman
Starting point is 00:52:31 oh it is brian brian esser i knew it was brian i typically go brian you set me up so it's jeremiah cyber cyberman and his friend and his friend johnished clarinet players. On the Dinsu Artifact tapes called Biter Dessert. Biter Dessert. Bitter Dessert. But I don't know. I've heard it pronounced both ways. And then that's Cecilia Lopez
Starting point is 00:52:56 and Joe Moffitt tape, Capriccio's on Triptix tapes. That is very... Very difficult to say. All right, Jamie, you ready? You want to end this up? You want to go out on the- Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:53:12 Let's do a short episode. It's not even that short. Not even that short. Okay. I'm having too much fun. People's attention spans today anyway with their cell phones and their apps and their Angry Birds. They can't deal with a long podcast.
Starting point is 00:53:25 Trust me. You can't deal with a long podcast. Trust me. You can't deal with me for very long. Trust me. Welcome. I trust you, Mike. All right. Why don't you go and then I'll end it out. Okay.
Starting point is 00:53:34 I'm going to do a little mailbag thing here. So we got this mailbag from Kudigi Records. I have the same. La La Land. You say that every time you say La La Land. I do. It's Kudigi, by the same. La La Land. You say that every time. You say La La Land. I do. It's Kootagie, by the way. That's right. I know. I get corrected on it all the time.
Starting point is 00:53:53 And yeah, that was one of, I'm not sure if it was my first interviews, but I remember I interviewed him during COVID with you. Very, very fun. He played guitar. Oh yeah, we forced him to tune his guitar, I believe. Yeah. And what's in this envelope? How many tapes are in it?
Starting point is 00:54:07 Just two. Just two. Maybe we're talking about two different tapes here. So you're going to be putting... I love this one. Jamie, I love this one. We put you kind of in this position where you have to choose. Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.
Starting point is 00:54:20 I have to be very judicious. You have to pick, and you have to take one and say, no. No. You are out. You have to pick. And you have to take one and say, no. No. You are out. You're out. And then the other one, you get to say, yes, you are included and you will be played. Okay. So I'll say what both tapes are.
Starting point is 00:54:34 This one on the spine says The Mountain of Joy by Lori Bevins. And I have no involvement in this. No. I have legally, I cannot even be involved in this. So I don't make any decisions. This is all on Jamie. Oh, wow. Looks like some snuff artwork inside this one.
Starting point is 00:54:56 I might get involved in this then. All right, yeah, check this out. Let me take a look first. You have a cop friend, right? I'm actually, I've been deep undercover for a while. This person... No, that person's planking, Jamie. That's just...
Starting point is 00:55:12 That's planking. There's like a pool of liquid under their face. I think they just found an oil stain. It looks like the Naked City cover. No, I think they found an oil stain in a parking lot. They're just laying there. That's planking. Okay.
Starting point is 00:55:21 That's planking. Have you never... I wasn't born then when planking was a thing. Goodbye. I'm a little younger than you. There's a lot of the internet. I keep forgetting your age. There's a lot of the internet.
Starting point is 00:55:32 I have a question. You didn't know what rickrolling was, right? I don't think I still know what that is. Are you serious? Yeah. This tape, I love these cassette shells that there's no, they're completely flat and smooth. Like, just totally like... Don't rub it.
Starting point is 00:55:50 I want to rub it right off, but the printing, it's full-bodied. There's full-bodied printing. I do wish this guy wasn't planking inside. Let me take a seat. Let me think. He's just laying there, though. See what I'm saying? So this cover, what is this, art?
Starting point is 00:56:06 This is like, oh, this is like the dentist's office. The dentist? Yeah. Does your dentist make you read the thing from far away? So what's the difference between an ophthalmologist and an ophthalmologist? Jamie. Tell me that. Cover your left eye.
Starting point is 00:56:21 Read the top line of the cassette. The mountain of joy. Oh, there you're putting glare on it. Is a valley of despair downside. Downside. Up. LoriBevins.com. So what is this?
Starting point is 00:56:37 What am I looking at? Lori Bevins? I think so. Lori Bevins. It's more likely that that's the artist in the album. Okay. And then what is the other one? It's based on Occam's Razor
Starting point is 00:56:45 Don't get science into it, Dr. Fauci Come on This other gift is by Paradot You want a cake to flush? Yeah, Paradot, remember them from the 2010s? No, I don't know I don't know what the album's called The writing is too angular
Starting point is 00:57:04 Album Men Album Men. Album Men by Paradot. Got this kind of see-through neon green. I always liked that case. I don't. You don't like that one? I don't like it when they're that color.
Starting point is 00:57:15 No. Don't do it anymore. And I like this. It's kind of like speaking of science. Oh my God. Look at this network of tubes and liquids and chemicals.
Starting point is 00:57:24 That's a series of tubes. That is the screensaver from Windows. Welcome to Windows 95. There's the pipes that go around. Oh, I love the pipes. What is the name of this artist? Paradot. Why can't I find Oh, there it is. It's the most recent one.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Look at these pipes. These look so... There's so many different liquids. Really good... Jamie, really get a good look at those pipes. I look so, there's so many different liquids. Really good, Jamie, really get a good look at those pipes. I got a good look at them. They're clear. Yeah. Those are liquids inside.
Starting point is 00:57:52 Green liquids. Yeah. And like, kind of like bluish with spark. What is going on with these tubes? I don't know. I mean, I couldn't give a two shits about the ones on the tape. I want to know more about these tubes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:06 Is there anything about the... Let me just control F tubes. No. No. So now you're going to make me pick my favorite one. Yeah. Well, no. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:58:17 That's a hard one. I'm not making you pick your favorite one. They're both my favorite. I love them. Whatever. Right. You know what I'm talking about the children's hospital
Starting point is 00:58:28 what's wrong with that I didn't want to say anything but I could tell you love them both yeah I do love them both they're like children to me wait is that the tape well you have to pick one
Starting point is 00:58:40 you have to one has to suck and you have to pick the other one so which one all right I guess I'm gonna I'm gonna pick this para dot tape I do like the pipes so sorry who we get rid of we're getting rid of the snuff art one they've been dubbed so often faces of death volume four maybe we're talking about Julie different tastes. No, Julie, Lori Bevins, Lori Bevins.
Starting point is 00:59:08 Your stuff is great. You're very talented. Listen, you're talented. It's classic. Your stuff is classic. You have this. Lori Bevins is a classic artist. Tabs out.
Starting point is 00:59:19 You put that on the sticker. You put it on the next album. We're not playing it. I love my music. But you said PayPal is $2, and you can use that as a little quote on your album. That's right. sticker you put on the next album we're not playing it but you but you send paypal is two dollars and you can use that as a little quote on your album that's right they call that a hype sticker you hype it up yeah well you're welcome but what are we playing who are we paradot that's with the pipes we're going we're going in cold yeah this with the chemicals they might be
Starting point is 00:59:41 illegal too you might ask your cop friend, run those chemicals through the lab. See if there's any traces of illegal contraband, contraceptives. Alright, then I'm gonna... I gave you those two other tapes. Did you want to pick one of those two, or do you want me to just pick this last one?
Starting point is 01:00:00 There's too much pressure to take, and I'm about to break. Oh, yeah, because you have to do it again. Why don't you play some pump-up music? Get yourself really into it. Go ahead. Go ahead. Give me some biscuit. All right.
Starting point is 01:00:27 Play that one more time. Play that one more time play that one more time alright so we got two German Army tapes German Army oh project also out of Los Angeles California wanna play it one more time I know you're going to... Two German Army tapes.
Starting point is 01:00:54 Yeah. I'm going to rip the band-aid right off this one. We're going to look at them. This one is... Oh, he's shrink-wrapping them, right? Oh, real cool. The environment really says thank you for that one. Oh, cool. You shrink-wrapped them, right? Oh, real cool. The environment really says thank you for that one. Oh, cool. You shrink-wrapped the tape.
Starting point is 01:01:06 Thank God. It literally just took a week off the earth. This J. And I was going to do something that week. I don't even know if you can call this a J card. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. The J card's fine.
Starting point is 01:01:18 Look at the Norelco case. That is not a J Norelco. It's like a little, little. It's got envy. It's got Norelco case envy. What happened at the lab? I don't know. What happened at the Norelco it's like a little little it's got envy it's got he's got norelco case envy what happened at the lab what happened at the norelco it's so short you have a tape measure here not that small this is so really not really not really well jamie oh my god this if i feel like this narako case has they they shrunk it maybe it's a supply chain thing but they they are doing that these days yeah honey i shrunk the template
Starting point is 01:01:55 what is going on by the way german army your next tape honey i shrunk the template that's free that one's free um this is on what is it d-a-d-a-r-q-distro.bankcamp.com it says on the inside what label is this dark distro and it's got this cover art it's got the cover art where there's like scary trees and the photocopier has been cursed but i can't get over no matter how scary you want to make this this naroko case is a baby it's a tiny little baby it's all the tapes on these shelves you've never seen anything like it i've never seen the the back flap of the naroko case it barely tries to wrap around what country is this label from you Do you have that on you? Not this one. What's the album called? The album is called A Wave of Self-Turmoil. Okay, I'll look that up.
Starting point is 01:02:50 You like that? That's a good name. It is. It's scary, huh? German Army tries to be scary sometimes. Yeah. It's from Brazil. So maybe these are special cases from Brazil. These are the new Brazilian Narocco cases, huh? Yeah. Wow. Okay. These are nice. Okay Noroco cases, huh? Wow, okay.
Starting point is 01:03:05 These are nice. Okay. And what's the other one you have? The other one's from an Italian label, so all over the map here. It's called Then Is Now, and there's something pretty cute about this one. They did the printing on the clear window.
Starting point is 01:03:20 Holy shit. That's another thing I've never seen before. Oh, I've seen it. With spray paint and stuff like that, but I've never seen it with like i've seen it like this no you haven't i have okay no i have you're talking about the pad printing on the cassette that's right in the little window in the middle yeah i'm surprised with these these new windows you might push it right through yeah yeah i hear that here flimsy it is i'm surprised the pad printing didn't just fucking punch right through it.
Starting point is 01:03:47 Just smash right through the entire thing and jam the entire machine up. Nothing face to face. Nothing face to face. I love this pink shell with this brown imprinting. Where's the Noroco case? This one's a normal Noroco case. What's fucked up with this? Too long?
Starting point is 01:04:03 No. Nub's too long and you can't close it? It's an Italian label. It's like that's where a Lamborghini's from. It's fucked up? What's fucked up with this? Too long? Nubs too long. You can't close it. It's an Italian label. It's like that's where a Lamborghini is from. It's where a Ferrari is from. Okay. Yeah. So this is like a fine noodle.
Starting point is 01:04:13 Yeah. Then is now. And then you have the other one. It's so adorable. It's cute. It's like when like Jamie. It's like when someone says like they come over and they have the baby. We're seeing the baby.
Starting point is 01:04:30 Look, I'm going to hand it over. You want to hold the baby? I got to hold the head. Oh, yeah. Keep the head. No, no, no. Keep the head up. Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh.
Starting point is 01:04:39 What the fuck is this? So which one are you picking? I mean, I'm going to pick the one from. Okay. Italia. I'll make a change. No, no, no, I'm Italian. I'm doing the Brazilian one. We don't get much Brazilian releases around here. Okay, we'll do that.
Starting point is 01:04:55 And then I'll end the show up. Let's do it. I'm going to end it up with two sides of one tape. I'm going to play both sides. Of this new one on blue tape. Is it like a c5 or a c10 or something like that let me break out a ruler and measure the tape and see what it is and i got it written down probably it's a c20 and it was released in april did you jamie when you said that did you fucking think you were kind of like trying to make a fool of me like i wasn't gonna know it
Starting point is 01:05:23 was it's a c20. A C20? That means 10 minutes. You're going to play the whole thing? That means 10 minutes on both sides, pal. And no, I'm not playing the whole thing.
Starting point is 01:05:29 It was released in April. Got it. I can't stop crying. Katar Nassim versus 6V9ID. Okay. And then it's a split with Swordman Katala on blue tapes.
Starting point is 01:05:49 Blue tapes. Out of the UK. Out of the UK. They do... They're another one with their proprietary blend. They have this proprietary blend of like this paper... What do you call these things? The Brad Pack?
Starting point is 01:06:03 It's not a Bradad pack it's a different it's a proprietary blend it's a it's a british british version can you do your best british accent no i'm not going to no i heard you kind of slipping into what were you doing there my name's paul mccartney oh in it paul mccartney i feel like i'm transported to jolly old england when you do that yeah but swordman katala uh is frank amanya he's part jolly old England when you do that. But Swordman Katala is Frank Amanya. He's part of like the, do you remember that label, that crew, the Nayegi Nayegi? Oh, we played that a couple episodes ago? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:34 They're out of like Kampala, Uganda. Yeah. He's part of that crew. Did you know Nayegi Nayegi basically, from my research, from my data that I've collected, it basically means horny horny okay so maybe we should play this in the last block oh by the way i forgot to ask you did that last block make you horny did i make you horny baby it did yeah it did it worked yeah i'm got my juices flowing it's good and then uh katar nassim is an mc from japan and a member of the hip-hop group Kansai 140.
Starting point is 01:07:06 And he's working here with a producer 6V9ID. I'm saying all I'm just saying that there's a lot on this tape. There's a lot. And it's only a C20. 10 minutes on each side. Yeah, I I already said that. I was trying to tell you that. Why are you doing this?
Starting point is 01:07:22 10 minutes on each side. What do you think about... But yeah, I was trying to figure out which side to play you doing this? What do you think about... But yeah, I was trying to figure out which side to play, and then I was just like, whatever, I'll play... It's two shortest tracks on both sides. This is quite an international block. Yeah, I like this another one with the full cover printing,
Starting point is 01:07:36 but they didn't do the window. They actually... They failed before they imprinted on the window the tape. Great job. Looks really yeah. Great job. Looks really good. Good job, though, still. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:48 Yeah, I didn't fuck with blue tapes for the longest time because, honestly, like, I don't know. I think it's the coating on the paper. They don't close right. I'm being honest here, and I'm opening my heart to you. But don't let me speak. Honestly, it doesn't close nice. Okay.
Starting point is 01:08:05 I think we should have blue tapes on the show sometime. You want to call them up? Can we get them right now? Tweet at them right now. All right, yeah. What would you ask them? Ask them one question and see what they say. I'd say, what is a spotted dick?
Starting point is 01:08:17 What does that taste like? Why would you do that? Don't they eat that over there? You're just still horny, aren't you? There's no way we need to go on. I can't tweet. I think we've wrapped this up quite nicely, don't you? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:31 Yeah. I think it's been good. 180. Making a 180 into the future. Let me think. All right. Bye. Bye. Thank you. so Thank you. so Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Outro Music I'm Thank you. so so so
