Starting point is 00:00:00 Tabs Out. Tabs Out, Episode 2. Episode 2. Tabs Out, Cassette Podcast. I'm Mike. I'm Dave. And that's Dave. We've got a special guest in the studio tonight.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Hello, hello, hello. Joe B's joining us. What's up, guys? Dave. What's going on? Mike. Thanks for having me today. What's wrong?
Starting point is 00:00:38 We wanted to have Joe B come in and do a segment called The B-Sides, where he'll just play B-Sides,. I think we dropped the ball on that. It turned into me just sitting here the whole time. I like it better this way, though. I like it better this way. It feels more natural. Yeah, having the third man on it. Right on. Well, let's play some cassettes.
Starting point is 00:00:59 You want me to start this one off? I'll start this one off. Yeah, go for it. Got a tape by Rotten Bone on Mistake by the Lake, which I just found out Dave, or no, Joe, you were saying that this is Stoney's Project, right? I believe it's Stoney's Project, yeah. I did not know that.
Starting point is 00:01:17 From Tusco Terror. Yeah, I knew it was a dude from Ohio who rolled with that crew, and I knew we saw him play at the first Voice of the Valley, but I don't remember it being him. But the YouTube video that you just brought up says otherwise. I think it confirms it. Yeah, I think it confirms it. This tape also has probably the best name out of any cassette I've ever seen in my life.
Starting point is 00:01:43 Well, okay, I'll describe the artwork first. It's a yellow piece of paper with a black image on it of a guy in, what would you say, a Victorian garb? Victorian-esque cartoon little drawing. He's got a top hat, he's got a handkerchief scarf, a canelbar mustache. And he's got a finsel. He does have a finsel. And there's a voice bubble coming out that says
Starting point is 00:02:06 Rotten Bone where do you get all those rotten tones that's the name Andrew Kirshner runs Mistake by the Leg Tapes hasn't put anything out in a bit though at least I don't think so I feel like it's been a while since that dude's
Starting point is 00:02:22 dropped anything is that I'm wondering if that's an etching I feel like it's been a while since that dude's dropped anything. Is that? Is that? No, that's... I'm wondering if that's an etching, like a wood carving. You think there's a wood carving that already said rotten bone? No, no, no. I mean like a linoleum cut.
Starting point is 00:02:36 No, I'm not sure. What time is the clock at? The clock's at 420, the clock tower in the background. That is pretty funny. that is a nice little touch that's like a subliminal message it's all in the details but yeah play a clip from
Starting point is 00:02:56 Rotten Bone where do you get all those rotten toes. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 I'm sorry. Oh, my God. The End Thank you. I'm sorry. I don't know. I'm sorry. The End Oh, my God! THE END © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. that was a clip from the It's either Rotten Bone or Rotten Bone I say Rotten Bone I asked around I got mixed responses Because it seems like it's two words It's spelled R-O-T
Starting point is 00:11:40 Next word T-O-N Next word Bone It could go either way. What's going on? Wait a minute. What's going on here with the spine? Yeah, they flipped the script on that one. That's totally upside down. It's only half on the foldy part, too.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Ugh. Come on, give him a break. What are we doing here? Well, it seemed like it was a mistake by, like, number nine. So he's still, you know, figuring things out. Yeah, it was released in 2008. It's a C40. 50 copies.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I guess you might be able to grab it somewhere. Yeah, it sounds good. And then, yeah, Ron Bone's got a split with B-Mask on Deception Island. A couple other things. I'm just scoping his Discogs page here. But, yeah, Dave, you got a jam? Yeah, I was going to play a track from Earth and Sea. Are you saying Earth and Sea or Earth and Sea?
Starting point is 00:12:39 Earth and like Earth E-N. You don't have to answer that question. It's on imminent frequenciesencies It's called Waves And Earth and Sea is Jacob Long Who's a dude in Band Black Eyes Oh yeah? From DC
Starting point is 00:12:59 Yeah I remember that band Discord band Let me take a look at this Didn't they have two drummers? Right? They had like Weird percussion They had weird percussion stuff. Yeah, weird percussion stuff.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Pretty awesome band. I think he's since relocated to San Francisco. It's funny on Discogs. He's also known as Jacob Muscles Long. That's a good alias. This is the only release I have from this dude, but apparently he's got stuff on Magic Bullet.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Oh, right. That was the split with Augro, right? Yeah, yeah. Brent Eyestones, Projecting, Label. What do you call this on the tape? This texture that it has. This tape has a grid texture around it. See if you can pick that up. Oh, nice it's got a little grit yeah i don't know if i have any tapes that have that on it i like to call it tape grip so you don't drop it you like to call that or you just
Starting point is 00:13:56 made literally made that up right now i've made it up right now but i think i'm gonna call it that from now on you already like it yeah love at first sight yeah right on well uh we're gonna play a track off the b-side uh the track's called ocean Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and do that. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and do that. Thank you. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and do that. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Subliminal messages. All right. Earth and sea. Track called Ocean. Good jam. Good jam.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Yeah, that was a good one. Yeah, that was a good jam. I never heard them before. Oh, him. One guy, right? Yeah, that was a good one. I never heard them before. Oh, him. One guy, right? Yeah, yeah. It's the only tape I have from Eminent Frequencies. I searched around the web,
Starting point is 00:23:54 seeing if anybody had copies. No dice, so good luck trying to find it. That sounded like sarcastic. Good luck. A hundred copies. There's bound to be one floating around there somewhere i bet you can find that all right you want to get into this next cut yeah what do we got all right i got the rogue cop tape on stunned uh took me a while to get into this one i gotta say i didn't really
Starting point is 00:24:18 like it when i first heard it i think i talked to you about that yeah i thought it was instant classic man like right away no i i didn't really like it joe you heard this at all i have not heard this at all but i really do like the stun tapes uh yeah it's a bummer that they're not that that label kind of artwork and everything really did a good job with everything they went out on top though you know like seinfeld yeah yeah there's two like types of artwork that you get with like or you got with stun stuff and it was like there's crazy like collages that must have been like like super big and then like shrunken down to be the covers because they were like way detailed and like really cut really precisely like all the you know you could tell where you know things were laid on top of each other, but it was always super clean.
Starting point is 00:25:06 And then there's these. How would you describe these? They're like what? Like abstract, like color pencil, color collages. I don't really know. Yeah, but they're pretty crazy. Kind of like a unique style. Yeah, they're definitely really awesome.
Starting point is 00:25:22 And like stunned round corners, everything, which is a nice little touch. Yeah, which is real cool. Nice little detail. Real cool. When I did that weather tape on Stun, he sent me my copies in like one of those three drawer tape holder things. Oh, you did send me that?
Starting point is 00:25:36 Which I thought was pretty funny. Like this heavy ass box came. And I opened it up and it was like, and like full, like, you know, he sent like a shitload of copies. And it was like, yeah full like you know he sent like a shit load of copies and it was like yeah just like the three so thanks Phil for Phil French for I still use that to this day seriously like one of the most generous dudes like I've ever
Starting point is 00:25:54 like traded tapes with we'll definitely do a stunned only super show one day yeah that's definitely a must yeah that's in the cards right alright but this road cop tape there's a track on here show one day yeah that's definitely a must yeah that's in that's in the cards right uh all right but this road cop tape there's a track on here that i'm gonna play i'm not sure if it has a title i think it might just be an untitled track but uh yeah here it is road cop Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. Thank you. so All right, that was a track off the Road Cop tape on Stunned.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Is this tape, was it self-titled? Or is this, I'm not even sure what this is. Project by a dude named Drew Dahl, I believe you say. That was probably the most straightforward track on that whole tape, too. I mean, it's still super weird but like I don't remember the other It's been a while since I heard that tape Bad choice? I made a bad choice?
Starting point is 00:29:51 No no Criticizing my choices Dave It's good but I just remember that tape being like a lot less rhythmic and just This tape is called You're About As Romantic As A Pair Of Handcuffs Stunned 2011
Starting point is 00:30:03 Joby with the info. On the fly, why Dave criticizes me. Alright, what's next? Up next, I got a tape I brought. Which is Everyday Loneliness. Double cassette on Callow God. Called Appropriation. Comes in those side-by-side...
Starting point is 00:30:24 Is that what we settled on calling these? Side-by-side Noroco cases? I said double-wide. I think I would call them a two-story cassette shell. I think if it's a two-story cassette shell, I think it'd be one on top of each other. Maybe the tapes are sitting on top of each other.
Starting point is 00:30:40 I would call those double-wides. This is more like a Burger King Whopper Noroco case. The Whopper of each other. I would call those double wides. This is more like a Burger King Whopper in a raw coquette. The Whopper of cassette cases. Definitely has that John... How do you say his last name?
Starting point is 00:30:55 John Borgs. He does another project called Pedestrian Deposit which he's done for a while and runs monorail trespassings. It definitely has that monorail trespassing. Monorail trespassings. And it definitely has that monorail trespassing feel to it. This is on Callow God, but it still has that same feel to it. Yeah, he definitely did that work for it.
Starting point is 00:31:11 What I like about this one is it's only tape manipulations. There's no added effects or anything. Yeah, it's just tape loops and stuff? Yeah, it's just tape loops. It's pretty cool. It's pretty chill. I like it. All right, right on.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Are they both like C18s or whatever that said? They both seem pretty short. Yeah. Yeah, right on. Yeah, two C18s. Came out in 2009 on Caligod. I'm not sure if I'm playing what side we're playing here, but if it's A, B, C, or D.
Starting point is 00:31:45 We'll figure it out. We'll figure it out, but it's the one, B, C, or D. Figure it out. We'll figure it out, but it's the one that's rewound all the way. Right on. All right. Well, here's a track that's rewound all the way from the Everyday... What is it called?
Starting point is 00:31:55 Everyday Loneliness tape on Callow Gods. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 THE END © BF-WATCH TV 2021 THE END © BF-WATCH TV 2021 THE END © BF-WATCH TV 2021 so so © BF-WATCH TV 2021 © BF-WATCH TV 2021 All right. Everyday Loneliness. That was a good jam. Pretty good jam. I enjoyed that. I never heard that project before. Yeah, it was real good.
Starting point is 00:40:44 Is that just tape? Just tape. Yeah, it was real good. Is that just tape loops? Nothing else? Just tape. Yeah, tape manipulation, it says. So loops and just playing stuff. Yeah. I'm into that. I like when people keep it simple and still do awesome stuff.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Yeah. A lot you can do with that. And like we were saying, he does a pedestrian deposit project, which has changed a lot over since he started in the early 2000s, I guess. Saw him in Philly, I think it was a couple years ago. And it's definitely different. Yeah, and he's actually going to be going on tour.
Starting point is 00:41:17 I'm looking at the tour dates right now from May 10th to June 18th. Pretty extensive tour here. Playing anywhere around us? He's playing in Philadelphia. He's playing in Baltimore. He's playing in New York. But then, yeah, dates. It looks like he's, you know, going all the way from one side to the other
Starting point is 00:41:38 and then back. But, yeah, you can find the tour dates somewhere online. So I would suggest checking them out if you get the chance. So Dave, what do you got? I got a track from this project, Cliff Sides, who's Ryan McGill. He does some other stuff. He's got another project called Bones of Seabirds. And he's in After with franklin teagle um this
Starting point is 00:42:07 tape's on anathema sound which was uh a label that franklin teagle did but i think is currently inactive i haven't seen anything new since like last summer he did that with uh this dude matt yacob who does all the artwork for the tapes. Lives down in Atlanta. And then Ryan and Franklin are also in a project with Matt called Meditations. You put out a Meditations tape, didn't you? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:35 Did Sal put out a Bones of Seabirds tapes? I'm pretty sure. On Peasant Magic. That's what I thought. I knew I heard that name from somewhere. Yeah. Let me see the tape. What do you got? I already got it.
Starting point is 00:42:50 I already got it. Looks like I already got it. Right on. Got nothing. Well, the only thing we're seeing here with this tape is the,
Starting point is 00:43:02 what was that, low DPI? We got a little low DPI going on there. I didn't want to be the one to say anything. You know what? I'm going to say it. I'm pretty sure it's intentional. They're all like that.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Yeah, I think it's just the aesthetic. Or maybe he only has MS Paint. MS Paint. Maybe he only has MS Paint. You just changed it. It's pretty intricate, MS Paint. 300 DPI. No, that's your standard bit, Matt.
Starting point is 00:43:19 Yeah. Franklin's doing who did you say did this label? it's Franklin Teagle who does Tranquility I was going to say he's doing Tranquility now which is a pretty great label we should play something from them maybe coming up
Starting point is 00:43:37 definitely yeah everything that I've heard on Tranquility is awesome super good stuff let's dive into this tape. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The The Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The The Thank you. The The The Thank you. Right on. Cliff sides. The name of that tape was, or it still is, Singularity. Right on. Cliff Sides. The name of that tape was, or it still is, Singularity. And that track was called Center of the Universe.
Starting point is 00:58:56 Rolling Juno 60 jams. Yeah, that was a good jam. By the way, I think Matt from Telecold is selling his Rolling Juno 60 right now for like a grand. I saw it on Facebook. That's what I wanted before I got the Moog. Now you're stuck though. Now I'm stuck with it. We all make decisions.
Starting point is 00:59:14 That was a good jam. I never heard the Cliffside's project before. No, I've never heard that project before. It was really good. What are we playing next then? Alright. Got the Delaware comp, which is a cassette with all Delaware projects on it. I'm going to play the Alex Homan track, which is a younger-ish dude, say a younger dude from around here, from around town.
Starting point is 00:59:36 Weird dude. Total jammer. Total jammer, yeah. Puts out a lot of shit under a lot of different projects. And it's always pretty interesting. He's always fun to watch live. He's in like 10 different projects. He's got like non-noise related projects.
Starting point is 00:59:56 Yeah, he's definitely a weird dude. He seems like the kind of dude you would see running down the street with a dog, with an old lady chasing him. Like he stole the dog? Yeah, like he stole the dog. He bumps into it and into he's like is there anywhere i can keep this dog real quick he seems like that kind of dude and he's way into talking about flossing i don't know what that means i don't really understand it no let's play his track off of this off of this comp Thank you. Thank you. All right. That was the Alex Homan cut off the Della Weird comp.
Starting point is 01:02:33 Still got copies of that available? Oh, yeah. Della Weird comp? Oh, yeah. All right. Find it on the internet. Internet? Yeah, get on the internet and find it.
Starting point is 01:02:43 Nice little collection of Della Weirdos. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Some internet and find it. Nice little collection of Della weirdos. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Some new, some old. I was actually pretty surprised that we were able to fill up an entire C-62. Yeah, for real. It's not like we were recycling. It's not like we were just shuffling around people to form new projects either. Yeah, it's mostly, yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:59 Pretty much like all real projects. For those who don't know, Delaware is a very, very small place. I guess most people probably know that. Yeah. All right, Joe, you got a... I got another pick here. What do you got over there? I got a Face Worker tape, Ocean Haze.
Starting point is 01:03:15 Let me see that. Came out on Catholic Tapes a little while ago. But I like this project, everything I've heard from them. Blue Paper Catholic Tapes. Yeah, I don't... Catholic tapes, they always have the same layout, the same template going on,
Starting point is 01:03:30 with the name on the spine and the Catholic tapes logo on the back. But then they change it up, it seems like, with every batch, with different... Oh, see, the Catholic tape stuff that I have
Starting point is 01:03:41 has a little logo. It's like little squares. I can't remember off the top of my head what it looks like, but it's like a white J card, and it's got a weird geometric square logo in it. I don't think I have anything like that on Catholic. No. That was probably like two years ago.
Starting point is 01:03:55 Yeah. I was getting some of that stuff. That's Brett Nock's project, right? Brett Nock's project. That's the dude who does Catholic Tapes. Does Catholic Tapes. He does another... What's his other project called with Mike Pollard?
Starting point is 01:04:05 Exercise. Exercise. Exercise. I think they only have like the two tapes out. Oh, okay. I don't think they ever really jammed a couple times. Yeah, yeah,
Starting point is 01:04:10 they jammed a couple times. But we mentioned Mike Pollard last time. Oh, right, because he didn't know what, well, he knew what it was. Well, we mentioned him because we played that door tape
Starting point is 01:04:18 on Arbor, but we got into it because he's never played Super Mario Brothers. Which is insane. It's not true. It can't be true, right? He lied.'s never played Super Mario Bros. Which is insane. It's not true. It can't be true, right? He lied.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Everyone's played Super Mario Bros. Yeah, he said that because of some weird witness protection thing, I'm willing to bet. Like, there's no way he never played it. Everyone's played that. All right, but what is... You know, to be honest, I have a couple of Face Worker tapes. I'm not sure if I ever actually listened to them before. It's good, droneyoney synthesizer type stuff i have that brett knock tape like that he put out under his own name
Starting point is 01:04:50 on i think it's on arbor and it's really i don't think i've heard that one it's the one that's like called like southern california yeah yeah it's got something like that yeah yeah that tape's really good that tape's amazing yeah but i don't think i've ever listened to face worker before so this will be a treat this will be a treat. Something nice. Alright, well let's play something off of the Face Worker. It looks like Ocean Haze tape on Catholic tapes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. so
Starting point is 01:09:17 so Thank you. And we're back. So natural, by the way. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Natural broadcaster. Natural. Joe B. You missed your calling.
Starting point is 01:10:08 I missed my calling. Damn it. I don't have that deep voice. You can get it. That sounds pretty good. It's all about talking from the throat. Oh, projecting. See, I got like a nasally thing going on.
Starting point is 01:10:18 You got to talk from the throat. You got to be the low man. What do we got next here? What do we have next? I don't know. It's an Al-Qaeda track off of a split with D-A-A-D
Starting point is 01:10:30 on Josh Lay's label, Husk. See, I think it's topical. Is that how you say it? D-A-A-D I just say D-A-A-D. I've never said it out loud. By the way, if you just say D-A-A-D. I've never said it out loud.
Starting point is 01:10:46 By the way, if you just Google D-A-A-D MySpace, without the slashes, it's like some weird jungle dance music project, just D-A-A-D with no spaces in it. So that's not them, if you want to look this up. Need the slashes. Yeah, yeah. But, yeah, anyway, this is a pretty cool track off of The Split. Has a pretty good label all around. And if you don't know who Al-Qaeda is...
Starting point is 01:11:20 You know. Yeah, I bet if you Googled Al-qaeda you'd get something different too if you google al-qaeda the first link is probably not them either yeah yeah that's the theme of this split um uh is this tape from uh san francisco uh i think scott miller is like the only like regular dude and then there's other people yeah there's like reoccurring members, right? Yeah, yeah. Or a rotating cast.
Starting point is 01:11:47 Yeah, yeah. And I don't know their last names. On this track, it's Aaron and Eric that contribute. Oh, Aaron and Eric. Yeah. Well, for those out there, don't Google Hapeda. They will come get you. They will?
Starting point is 01:12:02 Patriot Act. Yeah, they'll get you in a second. I think you can probably google husk i wonder if you googled husk records that's gonna come up first right that's a safe one that's a safe one that's you're not gonna get anything crazy all right actually you know what i bet if you do you're gonna get like a gross picture of like gg allen like jerking off on somebody or something so actually don't google anything related to this tape yeah but uh yeah i'll probably end up coming back to this tape.
Starting point is 01:12:27 I'll probably end up coming back to this tape eventually and doing some stuff from the DAAD side because it's really fucking good. Because you're running out of tapes? Alrighty, we're on number two, Dave. Eventually. I said eventually. I'll come back to it. It was a personal favorite tape of mine. Right on. This track is called Something Electric.
Starting point is 01:12:46 Last track on the side for Al Qaeda. Do it up. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Oh, my God. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon Thank you. so i think my microphone wasn't on the whole last segment no it definitely wasn't i just realized that's all right that's all right you probably i'm sure some of it got picked up we'll figure it out and what we'll we'll be fine in the end post production handle that yeah so okay that was a good jam yeah it wasn't what i expected honestly because i think i've heard some stuff from that project before it didn't sound anything like that yeah yeah it's it's a pretty varied side yeah all around that's just my particular fave right on what do we got what we got going on here next i think you gotta pick yeah right on i'm gonna play a tape by reviver project out of connecticut
Starting point is 01:25:02 by a dude named chris'Onofrio. The tape's called Bed, Sores, and Rickets. It's on Trench Knife. He does a lot of pretty dense stuff. Rumbling. Yeah, rumbling synth type stuff. Well, it's all EQs. That's his deal.
Starting point is 01:25:21 Oh, yeah? Graphic equalizers. Does he have a deal with teeth like teeth as well i think a lot like reoccurring themes like teeth going i think there's something with teeth he just had that interview uh pretty in-depth interview with him up recently oh yeah i read that maybe check that out which is pretty good i gotta say uh there is one thing a pet peeve of mine that this tape really gets himself not about the not about the tape itself the tape itself is fine but those little uh band-aid shaped centers from oh from the cassette label the labels
Starting point is 01:25:54 that you put on the shells i fucking hate when people use those for anything but especially when you use them to keep the case shut like when they seal the tape and then look it's just on there now it's awful yeah it's like it just doesn't look good it doesn't look good on the b side well what are you gonna do you're gonna throw that away you're gonna put that right it's gonna waste that all right it's already waste what do you mean you're gonna waste that now it's just like i can't pick that off there it's gonna leave a residue i'm gonna have to get a whole new case that's way worse the residue is way worse i hate, the residue is way worse That residue will be there for years That's not going away
Starting point is 01:26:28 It'll be 13 years later and you'll touch that residue It's like the same residue that price stickers leave like on the cases I hate that Somebody's got to come up with that Do these things have names? Somebody needs to name those things
Starting point is 01:26:42 I imagine they have a name Band-Aids Well I think Band-Aids. Well, I think Band-Aids is a product already. I think that's taken. And I would not advise using these for an open wound. No, we're in no way endorsing using the leftover from cassette labels. Yeah. To treat a wound.
Starting point is 01:27:03 To do anything. I think that's basically the... I think what you're saying is throw them away. I think what I'm saying is please stop using them for everything. Because I do not enjoy them. I guess you guys are looking at me like you don't give a shit.
Starting point is 01:27:15 No, I don't particularly like them. This isn't eating you alive. No, I don't like them. This isn't keeping you up at night. I definitely don't like it. Whatever. Let's get in this rush. Either way.
Starting point is 01:27:24 Reviver, I enjoy this project a lot. I like him as a person. He's a crazy dude. Is he a crazy dude? I mean, not from the outside. I'd say he's a boutique fella is how I would describe him. A boutique collector-minded guy. When we stayed at his house that one time in his bathroom,
Starting point is 01:27:39 he had like eight Ikea clocks hanging on the wall. They were all off time just a little bit just enough to be able to handle that oh it was intense trying to pee to that i've got a clock in my living room and in my dining room and they they go they go back drives me nuts i can't stop listening to it if i hear it you're telling me i just did this rant about the band-aid thing since the clocks that got you going come on now all well, let's play a cut. Side A, track two. It's named something, but it's inside, so I'll get it later.
Starting point is 01:30:10 But here it is, off of Reviver, Bedsores and Ricketts. Thank you. so Thank you. so so Thank you. The Thank you. All right. That was Sandblasting Accident by Reviver off the tape called Bedsores and Rickets on Trench Knife. I think it came out in like 2008 or something like that. Nice. Nice. I've got one other Reviver tape. Well.
Starting point is 01:32:34 He doesn't put very much out. No, I know. I've got to say for a dude who's like, has some pretty solid jams. Yeah, the one I've got is pretty good. It's called Total Load Shed from Temple of what is it Temple of Pi Pi P E I I'm not sure
Starting point is 01:32:50 Temple of P but that's a little a little risque this is another project Arabian Blade 2 Donovan what's Donovan's last name not sure but Donovan McNabb that Donovan's last name? Not sure, but... Donovan McNabb.
Starting point is 01:33:08 He does a project with Donovan McNabb? I didn't know that. You figured that would get more press. I guess not. No, but I don't think they've done anything in a while either. That tape that you're talking about, that's the one that comes in the
Starting point is 01:33:23 Polycase. Let's not get started on Polycase. We'll be here all night. that tape that you're talking about, that's the one that comes in the poly case? Yeah, it's the poly case. Let's not get started on poly cases. We'll be here all night. We'll be here all night, and I got stuff to do. We'll get into that later, next time. All right. So what are we doing next here? Okay, I got a compilation called Steel Trap,
Starting point is 01:33:43 released by Chondritic Sound. It's a triple cassette. Comes in a vinyl case. It's actually really fucking nice. You want to get a look-see on that? There was some hubbub about this tape, right? Like a kerfuffle on this one. Like a kerfuffle.
Starting point is 01:33:57 Yeah, a lot of... A little bit of a brouhaha on this one. A lot of people waiting. What's going on? A lot of people... What's the... It was... What's all the hullabaloo? It was more waiting what's going on a lot of it's the it was david it was it was more what wasn't going on wasn't going on well you know you got it now it took a little while it took a little while took uh yeah i think i think he had somebody walk it here i didn't
Starting point is 01:34:16 recognize the mailman's i think the mailman was actually from michigan walked it walked it on over um yeah but this this it comes in like the vinyl case. It has like three 8.5x11 double-sided inserts that are letter-folded and each artist gets a panel. Yeah, that's really cool. I like that.
Starting point is 01:34:37 The cassette shells are a little bit off-white and just a dab of spray paint in the middle over the little window in the center over the uh little window and in the center just to give just give it a dusting just a touch yeah just a touch touch everything's black and white all over like saturated artwork that's slick though i like that idea it's like every you know like panels yeah it looks really good and it's a sick lineup it's really yeah i'm looking at now halflings and vultures Butchers, Venomist.
Starting point is 01:35:06 A lot of stuff going on. Skin Graft, Purient. I actually remember when I ordered this, the second after I ordered it, I called you up, Joe, and said, and I was like, I don't know why I just ordered this because I'm probably not going to get it. You're never going to get it. You got it, though.
Starting point is 01:35:21 Yeah, I got it. Remember when you ordered the No State No Sound record? Yeah, what about it? There's nothing on it. I still listen to that, though, every once in a while. We're not talking about vinyl right now. Oh, I know. I just wanted to bring that up, too.
Starting point is 01:35:35 You're breaking the third wall. No, actually, I did jam that. Well, the first thing with... Okay, I'm not going to get into that. Don't get into that. We're not talking about it. We're going to do a whole other thing. Yeah, but this limited to, what does it say?
Starting point is 01:35:50 Like 300 copies. I'm not sure if like... You might be able to find it somewhere. Maybe like Dilloway has some copies in the distro or something. That would seem like a reasonable assumption. Anybody with me on that one? Yeah, and you'd probably get it from him right away. All right. reasonable assumption. Anybody with me on that one? Yeah, and you'd probably get it from him right away.
Starting point is 01:36:09 Alright. Bazing! Bazing! You got him. Blow the belt. Alright, well let's play the Hivemind track off the side F. This track is called Clockwork filth. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and turn it off. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and turn it off. so so Thank you. so so Thank you. so
Starting point is 01:40:56 so so so so so so so Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. All right. No. Let's wrap it up here with a tape by Tiger Hatchery, which is some dudes from Chicago playing some gnarly, free jazz, run amok, ne'er-do-well type ruckus. It comes in like it's a, what is this? What would you call that? It's a cassette mailer. It comes in like a little cardboard box.
Starting point is 01:46:49 White cardboard box. Yeah, with just Tiger Hatchery stamped on the spine of it. Is it self-release? I guess. It says no other information. Just Tiger Hatchery and a stamp on the spine. Oh, that tape's completely blank.
Starting point is 01:47:06 Except somebody wrote A and B and Sharpie on it. And I think you probably did that. No, I would have wrote Tiger Hatchery. I would have never wrote anything. I get into the habit. Do you guys do that at all? I do that with my Hanson tapes. I do, yeah, yeah, yeah. Any tape that doesn't have anything on it, I was right. You gotta mark it. They're gonna get mixed up. They're gonna get mixed up.
Starting point is 01:47:22 I've already had some get mixed up and now I don't know what's going on. Are you talking about the A and B size, or are you just talking about... No, I'm talking about when they don't put any sort of sticker or anything on it. Yeah, right on the front, what it is. You're going to drop those.
Starting point is 01:47:36 You're going to drop it eventually. You're in your car, and you take one out, and you just throw it on the seat. I'm not doing that. Well, you don't have a car. So I'm talking about people who, you know... Another point for Joe Big. ...have jobs and drive places.
Starting point is 01:47:53 That's a job. This is slowly... This is quickly deteriorating into... Nah, no. All right. Tiger Hatchery. Tiger Hatchery. Do these guys do another...
Starting point is 01:48:04 One of these guys do another project? Ben Billington, who plays drums in this, he does quick sales and White Prism with Josh Burke. And the other dudes, I think. I'm not too familiar with the other dudes' stuff, but I think they do some other stuff as well. You want to take a look at that, Dave? Yeah, yeah. I like that. That's a cool idea, the mailer. It's tough to find a place on the shelfave yeah yeah i like that that's that's a cool idea
Starting point is 01:48:25 the mailer it's tough to find a place on the shelf where do you put that in the show i was gonna bring that up that's all the way on the top with the other like weird boxes like that fucking cereal box thing that uh that sixes box set on american tapes that you know okay let's talk about that real quick before we get into this okay so american tapes put out that sixes box set for like american tapes like six six six or whatever and i get it well first of all christinafrio gets it and it's like cut it's like a cereal box but it's like cut down like real small and nice and like packaged like really nice my copy on the other hand is a full-size cereal box a full-size cereal box and it still had cereal in it that's which i i don't know i don't know who i complained to that about what
Starting point is 01:49:15 was it lucky what kind of cereal was it do you remember i don't remember what kind of you know i could grab it right now we want to wait a second hold on dave pause this all right i'm i'm back with the box joe what kind of cereal is that it looks like raisin bran raisin bran i've got it's it's Raisin Bran. It's Raisin Bran. And like it's number 30. What is that? 36? 36 out of 66. So he was only halfway done. And it's like, did you give up already?
Starting point is 01:49:51 Or what's... Just the three tapes just floating around in there. You took some cereal out there. Oh yeah, I dumped it out. The cereal looks like it's out. I was going to say it would be really weird if there was a different kind of cereal. Well, when you got it, were the tapes floating around in there? Or was there any sort of packing material? there was nothing in there it was just the
Starting point is 01:50:07 tapes just like they were just like bouncing around seems like he just does that shit to be cut like that what's going on there's like a there's like no because tape to the back that's like a quarter yes there's a cereal box well that's the size of like chris's copy was that like that fit the cover smaller size but mine i got the full box treatment it's the size of like chris's copy was that like that fit the cover smaller size but mine i got the full box treatment it's like someone ran off with the scissors and i was like whatever whatever let me just spray paint this slap this sticker on it and call it a day did it have this plastic around it when you got it yeah that came in that bag it's like an l it's like an lp sleeve that like oh yeah i got that that's nice that's the least
Starting point is 01:50:45 you can do he's not doing him olsen stopped doing american tapes and it's like that's oh is it that done i think it's done yeah i think my favorite thing about that label is like if you look at the discography it'll be like you know release number or whatever and it's like a show or like a poster or something like that like a t-shirt or a party yeah party i feel like you could like release like you know if you like walk to the store and like get like a red bull and just put it out all right what are we playing tiger i was gonna say i have another tiger hatchery tape uh on bake tapes it comes with one of those like sandwich baggy type uh packaging johns And that tape is just a black shell. There's no information on it.
Starting point is 01:51:26 I lost it. I haven't been able to play it because I have no idea where it is. See, that's what's going to happen if you don't label these things. Yeah. Well, you mean you lost it like it may have gotten thrown away? Like even if you wrote something on it. There's like a black shell tape misplaced somewhere because I thought it was probably something else. Yeah, you got to label those right away.
Starting point is 01:51:43 Where does it get Jesse to send you another one? Jesse DeRosa, if you're listening to this, we're going to need you to send another Tiger Hatchery tape to Dave Doyen. Just put it in an envelope, write Dave Doyen on it, and put it in the mail. Don't even send the case. Just the tape. Just the tape. But put a label on it this time.
Starting point is 01:52:04 Do something. For crying out loud. For crying out loud. We know you got time. Not talking shit on Baked, though. Awesome label. And Jesse's an awesome dude. We're not playing anything by Baked either, are we? Not tonight.
Starting point is 01:52:17 Eventually, we'll get to it. Not tonight. Not tonight. All right. Well, let's play this Tiger Hatchery tape. Close the show out with Tiger Hatchery tape close the show out with tiger show out i guess that's it and here is however long it needs to be by tiger hatchery that's not the name of the song that's like literally however long we need to make this track ¶¶
