Starting point is 00:01:50 Yeah. No, it would be pretty awesome if it was numbers. If it was just the numbers? Yeah, that'd be awesome. If it was in Russia, it'd be numbers, right? Probably. That's all their letters are all numbers. Upside down.
Starting point is 00:01:59 Numbers upside down. What's up, guys? Not a whole lot. It's snowing outside. Snowing, yeah. It's a misty snow. It's up, guys? Not a whole lot. It's snowing outside. It's snowing, yeah. It's a misty snow. It's not too bad. It's like brisk.
Starting point is 00:02:10 So on the way here, I was really excited because I was on Kirkwood Highway. Oh, that is exciting. It is exciting. And there's all these flashing lights up ahead of me. I get to them
Starting point is 00:02:19 and it's the salt trucks in all three lanes. Okay. Really, for this? It's not that bad. And so traffic's just completely slow. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:02:27 But I get to this point before the Best Buy where you can turn off, and I turned off on a side road, gunned it all the way up to Best Buy, and got right in front of them. Nice. It was awesome.
Starting point is 00:02:36 And then you just slid out of control. And then I slid out of control in a telephone pole. That sucks. And then did you ride the salt truck on the way here? That's why Joe Beasley... What is it called when you hold a car
Starting point is 00:02:44 and you're on a skateboard in the back Muncy But really slow On the back of a salt truck Salt just getting sprayed Mike's very expressive with his hands Well I'm Italian And they're crazy so they just get out of control
Starting point is 00:03:01 Oh man You know what I kicked off I got some raisins So gross You don't like raisins And they're crazy, so they just get out of control. Oh, man. You know what kicked off? What do you got? I got some raisins. Oh, so gross. You don't like raisins? I don't like just snacking on... On dried fruit?
Starting point is 00:03:12 Well, dried fruit's all right. I'm not a big raisin snacker. You like a salty snack? I'm a savory snack. I was trying to give me chips or something. I need something a little calm on my belly, because if you can tell by my voice, I was violently puking all night last night.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Do you have the stomach bug? It's gone now. Oh, but I don't want to get it. You're not going to get it. Don't kiss me. You're going to get it. Don't kiss me later. You're going to get it.
Starting point is 00:03:35 We're both going to get it. We're going to be dehydrated. It was really bad. We're going to have to go to the hospital and get fluids. Yeah, I don't want to get that. Hopefully, Dave, you and I won't be sick when we go up for the... Well, you're not because you're not sick anymore. Yeah, you got it.

Starting point is 00:17:16 I did. They're all gone. All gone. Tranquility sold out. I think Tranquility pressed 150 of those and they were gone in like a week.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Some dishers might have them. That's awesome. I recognize that second cut from Tranquility pressed 150 of those and they were gone in like a week. Some dishers might have them. That's awesome. I recognize that second cut from Tranquility Sampler. Oh yeah, the sampler. Oh no. Which you can still get over at TabsOut.com. Still available. It's a dude that does dnt we played some dnt stuff from seattle this is a short one yeah yeah this is a short one it's just two cuts i think we're gonna play both
Starting point is 00:17:59 actually i like this little drawing on the front, it's like three dudes in sweaters taking down a pterodactyl. Yeah, with like long... I mean, that happened. Like they're... Like I like the... What would you call this weapon? Like the javelin type weapons they have are like bigger than the pterodactyl. Or a spear, I don't know. Yeah. Well, it's perspective, Mike. If you're,
Starting point is 00:18:19 you know, if you draw... If you've ever taken an art class. So what, does that mean the pterodactyl's like really... It's far away. It's way far. They're preparing for it. Oh, it looks like it's right there.
Starting point is 00:18:29 It looks like it's right there. It's because it's huge. What's this tape called? Path to Dragon. I like that kind of stuff because I don't think I could purposely ever draw anything like that. Called Path to the Duchy.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Path to the Duchy? Jesus Christ. Path to the Duchy. Recorded spring 2010. D&T 39. All right, you want to play both sides of this, you said? Yeah, this, you guys are in for a treat. I like how it was produced by Steve and Baran.
Starting point is 00:18:54 Well, you'll understand why when you hear it. Oh, yeah. You are in for a treat. Oh, wait. And if you're interested about the cover art, it's done by Matt Locke at PuffinMagic.com. I might want to see if I can get an original. That's it. It's pretty awesome. No, I mean, it's awesome.
Starting point is 00:19:08 It actually is pretty awesome. All right. So here is the Tad Path to the Dutchie, or Dutch probably, cassette on&T. Thank you. Thank you. Starting point is 00:26:40 It might be. Something like that. Yeah, like a year or two ago. But I don't know. It might be available. I don't know. What do you got, or two ago. But I don't know. It might be available. I don't know. What do you got, Dave? I want to play this Grapefruit tape.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Grapefruit. Grapefruit. I love this name. Grapefruit. Grapefruit's so good. Yeah, we got this and another tape. Orchard Thief in the mail the other day from Golden Cloud. We should do a fruit theme night.

Grapefruit. Grapefruit. Grapefruit. Grapefruit. I said it first. What? Dave won. Dave won. Blur Tunnels on, what label is this on again?
Starting point is 00:32:34 Golden Cup. Golden Cup. It's a burner. I like that name too, Golden Cup. Golden Cup's good too. It's like a chalice. Yeah. I like names that are of like boring things.
Starting point is 00:32:44 You like things that you can't Google. things you like things that you can't google i also like things that you can't go that's not that you can't but you can google anything that makes it harder to google yeah you like so something that's like like like if a project if a project was called fox news uh-huh yeah yeah you're not gonna get it's not gonna come up to like page eight right Right, it's going to be a little harder. Unless you put in Fox News Discogs. I mean, there's ways around it. There's backdoors. There's Easter eggs and backdoors. You can use your hacker stuff
Starting point is 00:33:14 and get into it, yeah. I'll figure out a way in. I like stupid names. Why do you keep on stupid names? Well, not stupid, but plain. Yeah. Not like Golden Petal of the Black Lotus. Oh, that's good.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Let's use that. That's stupid. That's dumb. Yeah. I like how I can kind of figure out in my head which projects you are mixing together there. Chocolate Milk. That's good. Oh, that's so good. Which one did I come up with the other night? Memorex. Memorex. Your name's already on every CD. Memorex is good. Oh, that's so good. Which one did I come up with the other night? Howard Stern tape, a Bop-A-Booey tape. And this tape from Bella Risk, who is a project I've heard the name before, but I've never heard before. And I jammed this tape from Bella Risk who is a project I've heard the name before but I've never heard before
Starting point is 00:34:47 and I jammed this tape the other day and it is it's a crusher yeah it's a good one and it's all over the place you know
Starting point is 00:34:55 you know what you're getting with the artwork it's the classic NNA half circle jam looks great though I'm not a huge fan of this one I like that one
Starting point is 00:35:02 I like the ones that are like objects that are put down that kind of make a circle. Yeah, yeah. As opposed to like the ones that were like an image that's cropped out to a circle. I mean, it's still cool. I like that they mixed it up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:14 There's that and the other stuff. And the hand-painted cassette shells or shell labels are really nice. I don't remember what those look like. Let me see that again. Like they hand-paint all like the labels. Oh, that's right. They peel off kind of easy. It's the only bad thing about it. Do they? remember what those look like. Let me see that again. They hand paint all the labels. Oh, that's right. They peel off kind of easy. It's the only bad thing about it. Don't tell me that.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Now I'm just going to start picking at it. What's this tape called? You got it over there. This tape is called What is it called, Dave? Chocolate Milk. If it was Chocolate Milk, I'd lose my mind. I'd leave right now. We'd have to. Onamorphous Dawn from Bella Risk on NNA. Outro Music I'm sorry. Thank you. Thank you. Starting point is 00:42:20 Okay. All right, I'll go again. Oh, good. Dave's going to go again. Thanks, Dave. Well, blessed be thy name, Dave. What will you be gracing us with?
Starting point is 00:42:34 I don't know if you guys can see this. There's a lot of green. There's a lot of green going on with you tonight. It's kind of camouflage. I know what this is. This is a sashashules tape. Oh, my God This is a Sashashools tape. Oh my god. What?
Starting point is 00:42:47 Sashashools. Something else that I can't pronounce. You can't say anything. Sashashools. Sashashools. Sashashools. Sashashools. Austin Goolsby. Off of Lighten Up Sounds. Which I think we've played something from Lighten Up Sounds in the past
Starting point is 00:43:06 and we've also played a Sassafras tape that was on Hooker Vision in the past. Have we? Yeah. I don't remember. Yes. It was the one that had like the imprinting had like a flute on one side and like a cello on the other or something. Oh, that one.

Starting point is 00:43:57 like what number is that you have to turn it on it's like in the corner right there 50 that's a 5 that's a 5 yeah
Starting point is 00:44:04 work on your 5 sliding upside down you think he got well I turned it upside down 5 out of 10 I thought he got Q5 out of 10
Starting point is 00:44:12 like when you turn it upside down it looks like a 5 then when you got it the other way it's 0 1 it's written over a backwards 2 and a G I think
Starting point is 00:44:21 well maybe where's this label from might be from Russia okay that's right Minnesota Minnesota it's cold there it's cold there remember that movie And a G, I think. Starting point is 00:45:01 I've seen it, but it's been like 10 years, so I don't know if it's really, if it holds up at all. Interesting concept. Interesting concept. Are there flying cars? Are there flying cars? It's not like, it's not future based.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Never mind. Yeah, you made up the future part. I'm just trying to make it interesting for me. Are there dragons? There's not dragons. Or lasers. Yeah, or lasers. Joby's not watching it.

Starting point is 00:53:13 What is it? What do you got there? Flying Dog Wild Man. I'll ask you now, but when you leave all these bottles throughout this room, I'll be able to look at them from this one. I always take my bottles downstairs. I know. Dave doesn't take his.
Starting point is 00:53:26 I haven't brought any bottles lately because I'm drinking Twin Lakes Pale Ale. Because I'm drinking Twin Lakes Pale Ale. Brewed right here in sunny Greenville, Delaware. It's not Delaware County. That's Maryland. I know. I'm just saying that. It's Newcastle County.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Whose turn is it? My turn. Which one to play I'm gonna play some special people tape what okay yeah some real music some real music
Starting point is 00:53:51 oh yeah this this came looking pretty nice it's got a nice little booklet inside what's this a mailback cover
Starting point is 00:54:00 keep it fresh I think that they just put this out themselves yeah not that long ago As opposed to you know Not on MT5 or MT6 or whatever But Matt Riley screened all the covers
Starting point is 00:54:12 They were really good There's like a lyrics book in here Like a real thing Yeah it's a nice little Object There's a lady playing some kind of Some kind of what, Dave? It's like a horn.
Starting point is 00:54:26 Oh, that's like a horn club or something. Coiled tube. Yeah. An old lady horn club. Yeah, I like that it's cut off and you can't see what... The end. Yeah. I thought it might be on the...
Starting point is 00:54:36 I think it's just a beer bong. It's old lady beer bong. Use your imagination. It might be Mike's wiener. Easy, gentlemen. I bet it does coil all weird. It might be Mike's wiener. Easy, gentlemen. I bet it does coil all weird. It does curl up like that. Like a garden hose.
Starting point is 00:54:53 Like a garden hose that's been sitting out all winter. All shriveled up and cracked. You touch it, it just breaks. Like the liquid comes out of all over it. Yeah, that about sums it up. That's about right. These guys played Delaware, like, what was it, like a month ago? A month ago.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Maybe more than that. But anyway, killed. That's pretty solid. Yeah, killed it. All right, well, we got this queued up on side A. What's the first track? What's it called? It's called Crucial Decision. Alright, here is
Starting point is 00:55:26 Crucial Decision from Special People. I'm sorry. Decision making Has taken over me My car is kicked in Point of nothing but disease Sweat falls from the ceiling Life penetrates the floor
Starting point is 00:56:29 It all happened so fast Decades later More, more, more guitar solo We're another season Reckoning of the fruits Cash in your chips now Be part of the queue Slam phones from the ceiling I've penetrated the floor
Starting point is 00:57:31 And I've been so fast That I gave pain and more More More Whoa, whoa Thank you. guitar solo Remember of the light That's bright as the night And the angel of death The time when the night falls And you shall be found And you'll be found I'm the one who's got it all in me
Starting point is 00:59:47 I'm the one who can't keep up to what we have We've had it all in our heads I keep on concealing I have overcome Before we met Without a doubt This is just my intention I'm trying hard to remember I'm making all my decisions
Starting point is 01:00:33 I'm being forced to surrender I know Thank you. We walk alone in the shadow of the holy book We've been standing out in the dark The world remains a nightmare I cannot help feeling the chaos in the room The world remains a nightmare Let's go. I'm already moving on It's my call This is it, just my intention I'm trying up my decision I'll be in force to forever Special people, two tracks, and they're playing two cuts.
Starting point is 01:03:23 Two cuts, yeah. Crucial decision and memorial're playing two cuts. Crucial Decision and Memorial off the cassette plant. Check them out if you're in the Baltimore area. If you're in Delaware County. Delaware County or Hartford County. This is nice.
Starting point is 01:03:38 It's nice, like spray painted stencil cassette. Special on one side, people on the other. Pretty good. and it's a dense old cassette. Yeah, special on one side, people on the other. Pretty, pretty good. Alrighty, we got two tapes. Actually, today they came in the mail
Starting point is 01:03:55 from a label called, let's see what it's called. Fuck. Should have been quicker. Yeah, I thought you were ready. I thought I was ready. Eaterdown Records. What? Eiterdown. fuck should have been queer yeah I thought you were ready I thought I was ready damn it uh Eaterdown records
Starting point is 01:04:07 what Eiterdown E-I-D-E-R-D-O-W-N I think it's Eaterdown Eaterdown Gitterdown um
Starting point is 01:04:16 they sent two tapes uh Data Shock and Planets Around the Sun uh both the tapes the packaging is the cover's like
Starting point is 01:04:24 the packaging's pretty sick yeah it's um like three colored silk screen doodles doodles around the sun. Both the tapes, the packaging is, the cover's like, Packaging's pretty sick, yeah. It's like three colored silk screen. Doodles. Doodles. Kind of like a mixture of like this planet.
Starting point is 01:04:31 It reminds me of, what's his face? What? I want to see what you said because Dave already said what it reminded him of. Do you have a print of his downstairs?
Starting point is 01:04:38 That's exactly what Dave said. Yeah. Chris Pottinger. Chris Pottinger. The guy who does Tasty Soil, Cotton Museum. It reminds me of Chris Pottinger. Yeah, that's exactly what Dave who does uh tasty soil yeah cotton museum yeah that's exactly
Starting point is 01:04:46 what dave said i thought it looked like a mixture of that or maybe uh you know do you remember the cover for ride the skies that landing bolt lp yeah yeah kind of like that yeah uh the other one the data shock tape really looks like chris pottinger yeah that one but not in like a biting way no no not like it's ripped off uh the illustration on this one was done on the planets around the sun by Max Klotfelter. I think that might be the same. I would imagine it is. I mean, it's
Starting point is 01:05:13 like a really similar style. The covers are both red, yellow, and black. They look really awesome. Some squibbles and jibs. Squibbles and jibs. Let me tell you what I like most about this tape this planets around the sun cosmic job cassette
Starting point is 01:05:29 and like you know it's they're called planets around the sun the tape's called cosmic job all like the track titles in here have like next to them is like little illustrations of like with like a an ankh is that the cross with the little loop
Starting point is 01:05:45 on the top yeah like an ankh or an eyeball or like a hourglass so it's all like this like kind of mythology based type stuff and then um the uh side a the song is called cock and balls i really like that and then side b is bump tongues oh man i love the red string of yow lao which i don't know that's that's what i would expect and then honeypot so i'm really digging the uh the mixture of like you know because it's one thing when like you know and they go all off on the whole like the crystal the crystal belly button of the cosmic surfboard. But when you just say, let's just call it cock and balls.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Let's call this one cock and balls. Yeah. So I'm going to play cock and balls. Nice. Of course you are. From Plants Around the Sun. This tape on I-Eater Down. I-Eater?
Starting point is 01:06:42 I-Eater Down, a Seattle label. I-Eater Down. I-Eater from Seattle. The Windy City. Windater down, a Seattle label. Aeater down. Aeater from Seattle. The Windy City. Windy City, Seattle. The city of brotherly love. A place to be, somebody. Seattle, Washington.

Starting point is 01:21:35 No, cosmic job. Cosmic wobble? Cassette on... That's an inside joke, Dave. ...Eiderdown records. You were yelling at me earlier for my phone being on. I just got it and I put it underneath the table.
Starting point is 01:21:47 Yeah, I saw you. Sneakily. Turn it off. Turn the sound off. Mine doesn't have that feature. What do you mean it doesn't have that feature? Hit the octopus button.
Starting point is 01:21:58 Turn it off? Who was it? None of your business. This is personal stuff. That's why we don't have a family plan. All right. You want me to mention some new releases here?
Starting point is 01:22:10 I guess. Some new teams. Whatever. Whatever. What am I going to do? All right. I'm going to go to the bathroom. All right.
Starting point is 01:22:17 A label called Bomb Shop just put out a Press Lab Literary School Will Gresson split. C26. What are you laughing at? I don't know. Just your enunciation. Of Gresson split C26. What are you laughing at? I don't know. Just your enunciation. Of Gresson? Or Will? The whole thing. Everything. I like to when I you know, really nail it when I do these things. I see this as my like
Starting point is 01:22:37 this is my audition reel. For the big times. Welcome to the 21st. Remember when you took that test at WVUD and they wanted you to make a demo? Oh yeah that was so stupid somebody make us some music that we can play when we talk about new releases like in the background is that bumper music like some bossa nova or something you know some bossa no yeah something nice you'll be playing that's weird because i just was listening to an npr thing about bossa nova music last night oh yeah which is weird the label called welcome to the 21st just put I think it's
Starting point is 01:23:07 the guy who does loophole does that label oh yeah loophole sam nafan split you see the new sick sick batch I did their artwork always looks incredible there's some bruisers in there p ray
Starting point is 01:23:23 how do you just next next why did you choose to start with that one don't even mention that one digital natives glass house a bunch of other tapes six six tapes from italy i believe so check them out italians i thought they were from germany they're not from here america constellation tattoo just put out a batch of a look realistic VHS tape. I want to get into that one. That looks crazy. And then a look realistic cassette.
Starting point is 01:23:52 Who's look realistic? It's Joe Bastardo from Bastion Void. From Bastion Void, right. And Fluorescent Heights, Grey Ghost, Hobo Cubes, Jonathan James Carr split. Big tapes just dropped. Jonathan James Carr sounds like a president. He was a president. Jonathan James Carr? like a president. He was a president. Jonathan James Carr?
Starting point is 01:24:06 He was on the Tabs Out Top 25. Yes. 2012. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Everybody made fun of his name for like five minutes. We did already? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:17 Yeah. You got any fresh material? You don't remember that? No. We talked shit on him because he was like a classically trained musician. Oh, I remember that. He used his middle name. Oh, I know who he is.
Starting point is 01:24:26 I know him by the piano. I remember that now. All right. Just clarify that we were just kidding, right? Yeah, we're just kidding. Because you did make the top 25. So relax. Relax, dude.
Starting point is 01:24:38 You might like this one, too. You might have some shit to say about this. Big Tapes put out a batch with Andrew Scott Young. Andrew Scott Young sounds very pretentious too. Just because the middle name is in there? Well, he obviously,
Starting point is 01:24:50 people call him Drew. You don't know that for a fact. No one calls him Andrew. That's not the dude from Tiger Hatchery. Yeah, okay. Bass player.
Starting point is 01:24:58 A solo tape. Oh, yeah? A head boggle tape, an opponent's tape. I'm interested to get into that. Are we going to play that tonight? I have it in my hand. I was thinking about playing it. All right. It's good. Long Distance Poison and Dad and opponent's tape. Are we going to play that tonight? I have it in my hand. I was thinking about playing it.
Starting point is 01:25:05 It's good. Long Distance Poison and Dad's Against Vietnam tape. Let's see here. Lighting Up Sounds. Dave, just put out a tape from you, Dave. Bing bong. Bing bong. Veil's tape. Sasha's Uls, which we played
Starting point is 01:25:21 earlier, and a molehole tape. Have you guys seen the YouTube video of like that old southern dude who like the reporter the like the black reporter who steps in the hole that one's so good no the dude sitting in like the little lady who's squashing
Starting point is 01:25:38 grapes and she falls off the thing oh that one's good too he's like just this old regular normal southern dude who's just like like i just picked up some new tapes from lighting up sounds i got a mole hole set you haven't seen it no it's where we're watching the second colonel he's real and he's just like kfc guy yeah it's not the white suit and he's like i do believe he's not that southern he looks like a guy that should be doing like a grabs or a halls video like a good halls the lozenges not the lozenges like a hall video
Starting point is 01:26:12 like h-a-u-l yeah i don't think he knows what a hall video is we'll talk about we'll talk about all videos no we can talk about rental trucks like people like on youtube going by really like they'll buy mouthwash and bubble gum and stuff and then they'll go on YouTube and talk about the haul they made at the store. They'll just show like, yeah, I just got this you know, Blu-ray version of, you know.
Starting point is 01:26:36 I hate, YouTube is the worst. This congeniality $9.99. Pretty good haul. Why? Pretty good haul. Yeah. And sometimes it's like I said, sometimes it's just like bubble gum. But they got it cheap. Yeah. Not necessarily.
Starting point is 01:26:48 Just a little bit cheaper. I mean, how cheap? And there's two kinds of haul videos. Some people say how much they paid and some people don't say how much they paid. They're just saying what they got. They're just saying what they got. Yeah. And is this like a whole subculture of people that like are into these?
Starting point is 01:27:01 And the people that don't talk about the prices,, some of them are really against talking about what they paid for them because they'll mention that five times in the video. I don't talk about prices, so I'm not going to tell you how much I paid for this. But it's stuff that you can just go and see how much it goes. It's something special. Why would someone make a video of this?
Starting point is 01:27:19 Why would multiple people make videos about that? Why would people buy used socks on eBay? That's for sexual needs. So is this. Everything on a poor level. Which I'm trying to get into, by the way. Oh, I was thinking about getting into not socks, but... Not the sexual side, but the selling side.
Starting point is 01:27:35 No, I was thinking about getting into not selling used socks, but selling used long johns. Yeah, but I don't think that's a sexual. You should see me in a couple of tight bears. Is that what they're're called tight bears? No, it's just mine. That's your body frame, and then you are a tight bear. All right. If I start a Long John company,
Starting point is 01:27:54 I'm going to call it tight bears. They come in packs of two. And they're both really tight. They come in mom and grizzly size they're like they're like vacuum sealed so like it's only about the size of like a balled up fist and there's two pairs and on that has a sticker this says like two pairs green that's all it says tight pairs oh man i think a lot of good ideas tonight
Starting point is 01:28:25 I think we should be millionaires at this moment Alright Now we're just spewing them out to the A bunch of other tapes probably came out too Dave what do you want to play? Henry Dawson Did we play Henry Dawson last time? No we didn't
Starting point is 01:28:41 He's a baseball player from the 20s Hank Dawson It's a baseball player from the 20s? We mentioned Hank Dawson. It's on Orange Milk, right? Yeah. Another Orange Milk jammy. Nice. This artwork is all purple and nice and pink. It is nice. It's like a face
Starting point is 01:28:58 but it's made out of hands. It is, isn't it? It is. Poker in space. It looks like a pinball machine. That's nice. I like that. Orange Milk. Brain Love is the name of the tape.
Starting point is 01:29:13 I think Henry Dawson is one of the dudes who does Orange Milk, but his name's not Henry Dawson. That's like a project name. That's crazy. That's a moniker, they call it. A moniker? Oh, right. It's an alias. In case he needs a safe house and he needs to go he's a moniker they call it. A moniker? Oh, right. It's an alias. In case he needs a safe house and he needs to
Starting point is 01:29:28 go, he's gonna fake his own death. Aha, this is Henry Dawson. Yeah, I'm Henry Dawson. Alright, well let's get into this Henry Dawson tape. Pass that brain love cassette on over here, Dave. I was just trying to figure out what the design is on the shell. I can't
Starting point is 01:29:43 make it out. I guess it's abstract. I thought it might be a specific thing. I think it's something from the cover, but in black and white. Love that text. Yeah, it's a good text treatment. Yeah, it's a good text. Two different fonts would be here.
Starting point is 01:30:00 Probably got that on Font Squirrel. Down with the zip all right they're called knots on font squirrel oh here's a little bit of henry dawson they're not brain love cassette on orange milk Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. so Thank you. I don't know. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm not going to let you get away with this. I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm not sure if I can do it. Thank you. I'm sorry. so Thank you. Henry Dawson off of, what's this called? Brain something? Brain Love. Brain Love.
Starting point is 01:41:34 Brain Love. On orange milk. It's a goodie. It's a goodie. I do like it. I do like it, so thank you for making it. However, not good with names or titles. I do like it so thank you for making it I'm not good with names or titles
Starting point is 01:41:45 I do like it thank you for making it Joe's Corner I'm not good with names or titles Melvin's probably my favorite band I probably only know
Starting point is 01:41:55 10 Melvin's track titles out of like their they probably got like what at least 400 songs right they got a lot of tracks yeah they got a lot of tracks
Starting point is 01:42:04 I'm so bad with track words man oh yeah i'm not into words visual learner yeah i'm not really a lyrics guy i'm not really a words dude no i don't care what the song's about what do you got here joe what are you handing me you don't have anything out of this conversation like gold god gold god yeah we're done with you dave i guess this was. Yeah, we're done with you, Dave. I guess this was set in, right? Yeah. I'm looking for a label name here. Here we go. I like how that's
Starting point is 01:42:32 set up that way. I like the little honeycomb print on the front. The honeycomb is nice. It's got like the J card has a little like half flap in the inside. A little half panel. Something else Dave had had that too. Yeah. The lighten up sounds was like that. And when you flip it open, it's got the little, it's got all the liner notes. I've seen had had that too. Yeah. The lighten up sounds and when you flip it open it's got the little liner notes.
Starting point is 01:42:48 I've seen more of those lately. I haven't seen more of those lately. You're going to get a lot of khaki down there. Gold God Hermit Kingdom cassette. I'm not sure what the label is. It's a nice score. Did you know 20 is a score? Oh. What do you mean
Starting point is 01:43:03 20 is a score? Like four score and seven years ago. 20 is a score like 4 score and 7 years ago a score a score is 20 years is that true yes wait what a score is 20 years is a score 20 years
Starting point is 01:43:20 4 score so that's 420 420 and 20 years ago no in seven years so 420 seven years ago 20 times 20 score four times 20 so that's 80 87 four score and seven years ago is 87 is that what is seven four score no no is that the correct is it four score and seven years ago i think i don't know i'm repeating what you said. That sounds right. I haven't watched Lincoln yet.
Starting point is 01:43:51 I watched the Vampire Hunter one. I got a boot, though. I watched the Vampire Hunter and there's a... There's another one coming out. There's a zombie one on Netflix right now. I saw the zombie one. That one's really good. The zombie Lincoln movie?
Starting point is 01:44:01 Yeah, it's like Abraham Lincoln versus zombie. He fights the zombies. He fights the zombies. Oh, okay. It's really good. Yeah, no, it's like Abraham Lincoln versus zombies. He's not a zombie. He fights the zombies. He fights the zombies. Oh, okay. It's really good. No, it's not good. Have you seen it? No, I haven't seen it.
Starting point is 01:44:10 It's good. Yeah, I'm sure it's really good. What's it like, a trauma movie? No, no, no. It's pretty good. The Vampire Hunter one, though, is like the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. I'm never going to watch that movie. There's like a battle on like a train and somehow there's like the,
Starting point is 01:44:25 there's like tracks over tracks over tracks and it's all on fire and the train's going like super fast and they're battling on multi-level tracks in Lincoln's time. But like one of the tracks like burns and the train falls down. It's like the next track and keeps going. That sounds incredible. And there's a horse stampede. It may be the most horses in horse stampede in a film ever.
Starting point is 01:44:46 Now, obviously, they didn't use any real horses. I hope not. Because I hate it when a horse really falls in a movie. Like in Planet of the Apes? Ugh, it's awful. Yeah, you don't want to do that. That horse never wanted to be in that movie. No, no.
Starting point is 01:44:57 It's not Planet of the Horses. Do you guys ever see that movie, Weekend? Bernie's? Bernie's 2? No, it's called Weekend. With the voodoo. And he dances like this. I think it's just as good as the first one.
Starting point is 01:45:06 I like. Dave, you do a good Bernie. Dave just nailed Bernie. Man. I wish this was a YouTube podcast. That was so good. I wish we were like Howard Stern where you could watch us. Maybe we should do that.
Starting point is 01:45:20 Have a camera in the corner of the room. I have cameras all through this room. Just do a fisheye lens up there? Yeah. What's Weekend about? I was just going to say, there's a scene in the middle of that where a pig gets hit in the head with a sledgehammer,
Starting point is 01:45:33 and it's a real pig. It's real fucked up. I don't watch fucked up movies like that, Dave. Is it a real sledgehammer? What's the movie when they kill a turtle? Cannibal Holocaust or something? I've never seen that. Never heard about that.
Starting point is 01:45:44 You're thinking of Pink Flamingos Don't wiggle that too much A friend of mine who I won't name Don't wiggle that too much Does it make a lot of noise? Probably Makes me feel safe Get off of it
Starting point is 01:45:58 Would go back to a person's house and watch bad horror movies But one day he was watching this one Where they killed a real turtle and he said I I couldn't come. He said you couldn't come? I couldn't come to watch it because he was like, they killed a real turtle. So he was doing it for you? Yeah, he didn't want me to watch it. I wasn't allowed to come and watch it. How would you kill a turtle? It seems like there's not even any sport in it. Yeah, I mean, I'd rather kill, what are they killing? A pig? Yeah. I'd rather kill a pig on film.
Starting point is 01:46:26 A wild pig on film than a turtle. No, this was a domesticated pig because it was all bald. Your common North American domesticated pig. I've heard, I don't know where I've heard it. Now, if they're going to kill, what are those turtles from the Galapagos Islands? Oh, the big ones. The big ones.
Starting point is 01:46:42 I bet those would be hard to kill. Those would definitely be hard to kill. Because I you they have like uh like wings i bet you they can fly wings yeah they're the the very rare winged turtle wing turtle well that's why we call regular house turtles wingless turtles is why if you ever wondered i made this tape we were figuring what label put out this golden god tape no we didn't is it true that pigs if you domesticated pigs if you release them into the wild they'll grow hair and their
Starting point is 01:47:12 tusks that's crazy they will go back to wild just like that porky pig only wore a suit jacket and a bow tie no pants why would they think like, we can't put them all naked.
Starting point is 01:47:26 It's too fleshy. Well, exactly. Put a suit jacket and a bow tie on them. That's it. Golden God, off the tape, hermit kingdom.
Starting point is 01:47:36 It's a naked pig. A naked pig that stutters is just, too racy. Yeah, it's too racy. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 But what I look at myself as, not being, you know, not really playing anything down, but a human being really has been extremely fortunate in so many ways. Although I have had and still have some very lonely... You know, there are times when I don't know... It feels like I don't know what I'm gonna do next. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 gold god gold god hermit hazers you know let me um because i was trying to google this to Gold God. Gold God. Hermit Hazers.
Starting point is 01:51:46 You know, let me, because I was trying to Google this to figure out what, there we go, that figured out. I typed in Golden God, Hermit Kingdom. Not Golden God. And the first thing that came up was something from Vice
Starting point is 01:51:56 about going to the Westminster Dog Show and ask it. Have you seen that? I haven't seen it, no. So good. Is it good? But when you put in Gold God, Hermit Kingdom,
Starting point is 01:52:04 the first thing that comes up, let me finish. It's so good. it good but when you put in gold god hermit kingdom the first thing that they let me finish it's so good is a facebook for space slave who i assume put this tape out joe b go ahead it's so good because the dude who they send to the dog show yeah has this he has like red hair but it's a tight curl long oh i like a long tight curl a long. Oh, I like a long, tight curl. Yeah. A long, tight ginger girl. And he has like a suit on, you know. Tight ginger girl. So,
Starting point is 01:52:29 it is fucking intense. There's this one part where he's standing in front of this like fan and it's just blowing on him and he's just like, you know, enjoying it
Starting point is 01:52:36 with his eyes closed and they're just filming him doing that and then everyone, then he's like, oh, what? Oh,
Starting point is 01:52:42 man. And he's like trying to interview people but he's totally out of his mind. That sounds awesome. It's really good. There's another one they do where like a British guy takes LSD and does stand up, but that one's not as good. And does stand up? That doesn't seem like it'd be as good.
Starting point is 01:52:57 No, it's not as good. This one, because the way this dude looks. They need to reorganize that fucking site, man. What? I love Vice. No, I like Vice, but it's always a chore. They need to organize it a little bit better. That's all I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:53:12 Well, if anyone from Vice is listening to this, which is a possibility. How many people do you think... How many people listen to us on iTunes? How many people listen to us on iTunes? I don't know i got a text last night from uh ben shore you remember ben shore i know ben shore and it
Starting point is 01:53:31 actually let me pull it out right now i didn't respond to it because i was really sick i should respond to it right now but the text just said i gotta go way back because i got a lot from joe today it just said how many subscribers to your podcast do you have that are not your friends? And I just thought he was just busting on us. Or was that not his question? No, that's a bust.
Starting point is 01:53:52 Is that a bust? Yeah, that's a bust. Like, was there another text going, ha ha ha? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. What were you talking about? I was saying,
Starting point is 01:54:01 no, I was just saying like, tight ginger curls. It's hilarious. Tight ginger curls. I just hate like, I hate images right now, I was just saying like tight ginger girls. It's hilarious. Hit images right now. I just hate when I'm watching a video and it's part one, and then there's related videos at the bottom, and part two isn't there.
Starting point is 01:54:17 Yeah, that's hilarious. But if you finish part one, it'll automatically start part two. Does it do that now? Yeah. I googled it before. Tight ginger girls. Is that the guy? So look at this guy.
Starting point is 01:54:29 Who's that? That's not him. It's a nice cross earring. He's dangling off his ear. We'll wrap this up. Like a George Michael cross? I'm going to play a tape now. Mothcock. I hate that name. I know you do. Mothballs. If it a moth cocktail. I hate that name. I know you do.
Starting point is 01:54:46 Moth balls. I like moth balls. If it was moth balls, fine, because that's a product. Hasul Mountain. You like the plain stuff. I like the plain stuff, but moth cock?
Starting point is 01:54:57 Moth cock. I don't like the word cock. It's very... It's strong. It's a strong word. You know? You like the hard K. Yeah, hard K yeah hard K
Starting point is 01:55:05 on both ends hard K that's another good one I like this imprint of a it's like your classic cassette your classic
Starting point is 01:55:14 standard cassette with the black liner and there's like maroon imprinting on it just tangled string I have something going on there
Starting point is 01:55:21 this tape I don't think I have it because I think I listened to it a couple times. There's one track somewhere on here that is straight. It gets the blood flowing. You might want to play this in an old age home.
Starting point is 01:55:36 Get those geezers out of their chairs. This thing looks crazy. What? Get it out. Improvement tools. That British rapper had thatyser song that we used to listen to oh yeah what was that i don't remember that was horrible it's labeled hasu mountain though if i can find the other one joe did you get the other tape oh dave i think you
Starting point is 01:55:56 got it the other tape they sent in can you hand it to me real quick they send in this mothcock tape and they send in the big ship. The big ship. Now they have download codes with them. But for the download code, you go to thrilljockey.com slash DL code. Is this a Thrill Jockey imprint? I don't think so. I don't know anything about it though.
Starting point is 01:56:24 I thought that was kind of weird. Get in touch and let us know what that's all about. Or we can just Google it. No, no, no. I like interaction. I want to meet other people. Why does it just say improvement tools, people, and satisfying customers on this tape for no reason? It sure does.
Starting point is 01:56:42 In different spots. It sure does. Cycle, years, bottom. It sure does. In different spots. It sure does. Cycle, years, bottom. It sure does. I don't know. Pencil. Hand me that over. All right.
Starting point is 01:56:51 So here's a little bit off of the Mothcock tape, Bremmy on Hasu Mountain. You didn't say any of that correctly. Mothcock? Probably wrong. Muthcook? probably wrong moose kook © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. so um Thank you. so so uh so so
Starting point is 02:00:34 uh um I'm not sure what I should have used the I'm sorry. Thank you. I don't know. Bye. I'm sorry. so Thank you. I'm so so so so so so so so so so
Starting point is 02:05:00 so so so so The dude from, um... Gucci Mane. That was Gucci Mane with the ice cream cone. What's weird about that is he has a big ice cream cone tattooed on his face. And in the preview for that movie we were just talking about, it didn't seem like it was there. They CGI'd it off. They CGI'd that off. They green screened that? They. Uh-huh. And in the preview for that movie we were just talking about, it didn't seem like
Starting point is 02:05:25 it was there. They CGI'd it off. They CGI'd that off. They green screened that? They green screened it. Can they put just like a... They put a green patch. Green patch on
Starting point is 02:05:32 and then they can put whatever they want there? Uh-huh. Or just makeup. Or whatever. Fuck you, Dave. Yeah. That was Mothcock.
Starting point is 02:05:40 Mothcock off the tape. That's a Grammy on Hasu Mountain. Alright. Dave's Corner. Alright. Gucci Mane. I've been trying to bring this one.
Starting point is 02:05:58 You have been trying to play that tape for a couple weeks. Yeah. The mood just wasn't right, but I think the mood's right. I'm going to play this Drowning the Virgin Silence tape called Blue Noise came out on K-Sara Blue Noise? Yeah Blue Noise
Starting point is 02:06:13 does that make you pee? It could I don't know why it's blue my pee's blue, your pee isn't blue? no well if I eat a lot of cake icing or food coloring no my pee was blue when I was 15 and I worked at Happy Harry's, which is a pharmacy, a drug store, you know.
Starting point is 02:06:34 And I got really into drinking Blue Powerade, and I took home a- A case? Yeah, like a pallet of it. Oh, a pallet. Like, you know, probably 50 bottles of it. 50 bottles? And I just went to town on that shit
Starting point is 02:06:47 and then one day like everything that came out of me was blue. Really? Yeah. I gave up on that stuff right then. Probably fucked your kidneys up.
Starting point is 02:06:54 Yeah well I'm going to say yeah probably. I'm going to say yeah. Ding ding ding ding ding. Ding ding ding ding. So this was I'm going to say fairly recently right?
Starting point is 02:07:03 Case Raw is fairly new label. Are they? I mean this was number'm gonna say fairly recently right case raw is fairly new label are they i mean this was number 24 this was like a mailbagger they sent that in yeah like a couple months ago a couple months ago but yeah it's it's it's fairly recent yeah um i think it was in the same batch as that uh rumbleton and turd turd the u to use to use double the use double the turd. Turd. With a U. Two U's. Two U's? Double the U's, double the turd. Yep. All right, let me see.
Starting point is 02:07:30 What do you got here? Who is this? This is... Who are you? Richard Vergas. Richard Vergas. Thanks for the information, Dave. Dave Dillon going back to his notes there.
Starting point is 02:07:47 This is some pretty heavy stock. This is nice. That's a nice score. You know what? A 20 is a score. From what I hear. This is pretty nice. All black and white art, but it's...
Starting point is 02:08:02 That's the word I'm looking for it's very see it doesn't help when you just stare back at me well i don't know what you're pressure i feel the pressure i don't know what you're trying to say you two hunks of men just looking back at me it's very simple very basic just the text and you have the floor where the your audience but it looks nice i like this isn't that what you said you do this for? Is that a clarinet? Yeah. It's like a clarinet. What's a clarinet? On the back side there.
Starting point is 02:08:29 What are you talking about? That white smudgy object? Yeah, that like white. I see little buttons. Oh, I do see some buttons actually. Oh, no. From here it looks like a clarinet. Email us if you're a clarinet.
Starting point is 02:08:39 All right. Well, let's play a little bit off of this Drowning in the Virgin Silence. Blue Noise. Cassette. Okay, sir. Did you put it on the B side? I put it on whatever side you're hearing. Well, let's play a little bit off of this Drowning in the Virgin Silence Blue Noise cassette. Did you put it on the B-side? I put it on whatever side you're hearing. Yes, I did. The rewound-ish side?
Starting point is 02:08:53 Yeah, that's what's on. That's the one we want to play. That's the one. © transcriptF-WATCH TV 2021 © BF-WATCH TV 2021 © BF-WATCH TV 2021 © BF-WATCH TV 2021 © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Drowning the Virgin's Silence, finally finally got that one out i had a tape in here a title tape that i had in here for a while and then uh i realized that it was just like a tape i guess that he sent me to release and sacred phrases put it out as a split with somebody. Oh, that's funny. So, no, I didn't want to play it. I remember you saying,
Starting point is 02:17:29 why is there just a title and Sharpie on the front of this? Probably because it wasn't an actual release. Yeah, it wasn't. I just found it. Yeah, it was in the stacks. What do you got there? I don't know.
Starting point is 02:17:40 I don't know what to play. You have two gray ones in front of you. Well, this I grabbed from your stack. That's a good one. Yeah, I want to play this. You want to play that? Because I want to hear it. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:17:51 The Andrew Scott Young tape on baked. Buy me a Coke. Yeah, this one, I got it. It's rewound back to the A side. Yeah, that's fine. There's some fireworks at the end of this one. Oh, yeah?
Starting point is 02:18:05 Yeah. But we'll have to maybe listen to side B in our spare time. In our spare time? Okay. Because it's also... I don't have a lot of spare time. Andrew Scott Young, who is also... Or was or is...
Starting point is 02:18:17 I don't know if they're still together. I think they're done. Done in Tiger Hatchery. It's a shame if they're done. We'll play the killer set. Set of the year. Yeah. Maybe set of the year. Maybe set of the decade. Ble a killer set. Set of the year. Yeah. Maybe set of the year.
Starting point is 02:18:25 Maybe set of the decade. Blew my mind. Blew my mind. Blew my mind grapes. It juiced them. Blew my mind up. Yeah, that shit was tight. This tape's really fucking good. What's it called? Warm White Light cassette on baked.
Starting point is 02:18:41 I thought when I saw the picture for this tape on the baked tape site and it was like you can see jesse de rosa's like you know reflection in the naroko as he's taking the picture and i thought like there's this little like lens flare on the cover because the cover is just gray did you design that no i don't overuse the lens flare but it just says asy warm white light in like a white text and then it's like what's that is that a picture of the moon i don't know i guess it's the sun something's going on but i thought it was it was the flash from the camera and i thought the tape was going to be all like okay um some of these i posted a picture on our uh
Starting point is 02:19:21 on the internet facebook site for Tabs Out on the official internet Facebook site? the official only Facebook site for Tabs Out the cassette podcast what about the fans? starring Mike Haley and featuring his sidekicks Dave and Joe we don't even get last names
Starting point is 02:19:39 of some of the um no one needs to know that of some of the new big tapes and they use these the shells that they use for the tapes are like really weird looking. Let me pull up a picture here for you, Joe, and you can take a look at it. They've already saw it. It's got a little tiny window. And it's got like this weird like. Oh, like your mama.
Starting point is 02:19:59 Kind of imprint thing on it. Do you see these? Oh, I do see that. It's a weird looking tape. Is that tape like that? That one's not, but I think the head goggle one is.
Starting point is 02:20:09 Yeah, they're really weird. There's so many different types of tapes. Yeah, you'd figure by now there'd be just one shell. There's one shell. You want to put a tape out, there's one company who makes shells. And they have their you know, what is it called that you pour the stuff into? Mold.
Starting point is 02:20:25 It's one mold, and that's what they're doing. But there's so many different ones now, as always, with the different waffle textures. No, I mean this other tape that has these weird beveled corners. Yeah, by the spools. By the spools. They decided not to make that a circle. Well, Dave was saying that he thinks they're done making tapes, and now they just have all the leftover remainder stocks
Starting point is 02:20:46 on the shelf, and they're just pulling them all out. There is like a... There's a lot of weird ones coming out right now. There's a lot of weird ones. Or maybe we're just noticing them now more. Maybe. I'd like to know... My other thing was like I thought maybe, you know, a company that makes a mold, they can't
Starting point is 02:21:01 have a mold that's exactly like another one. So they have to change it a little bit you think they like trademark i could see that but how many like when i was buying blank tapes a national audio company there weren't that many companies that i could buy bulk blank tapes from i guess well they might just be like the distributor that buys the shells from making the tapes they're not making the tapes they're buying the shells from somebody but every once in a while like they'll come and then the little uh what's your good little whatchamacalls inside the holes little gears spools um sometimes they're white and sometimes they're black they just switch up from time to time why yeah why where are they
Starting point is 02:21:41 being made for something another purpose i would like to see some uh spools with color you don't see any of that colored spools colored spools you just blew my mind dave spectrum spools yeah it's a little close to spectrum spools i don't think you can get away with that yeah we've been coming up with some project names that we all might don't let anyone know don't say any of them because the next thing you know there's gonna be somebody called Sony. No, there was better ones than that though.
Starting point is 02:22:07 Memorex. What was the one you Binoculars. Don't give away the Don't give away the really good one. The really good one I'm not going to give away. No.
Starting point is 02:22:15 Not that we're going to ever use it for anything. Frying pan. That's a good one. No, that one's not that good. I didn't say it was great. Let's play
Starting point is 02:22:23 Home Improvement. Home Improvement is really good. Side A. On two levels. It's hard to search for. Sweet for Steve Patton. Off of the Andrew Scott Young tape. Warm white light on baked tapes.
Starting point is 02:22:41 It's Telescope. Thank you. Thank you. ¶¶ © B Emily Beynon ¶¶ © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon ¶¶ ¶¶ © BF-WATCH TV 2021 ¶¶ so so so Thank you. so so ¶¶ so so so so so so so so so Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. so so Thank you. Thank you. so boom boom just like that grand finale boom just a big one at the end boom and it's over it's like the scene in coneheads where they just send the firecracker up remove the deckle that scene no i don't know i don't remember that line
Starting point is 02:38:41 you don't remember that that's the uh that's the titular line i don't remember that line. You don't remember that? That's the titular line. I don't remember that one. The Coneheads is a movie. We come from France. The Coneheads is a film. A film, oh, based on the movie. With Chris Farley and Dan Aykroyd. It's good.
Starting point is 02:38:59 Yeah, when they send the firecracker out. No one notices that their heads are shaped like that. Or they don't have butt cracks. They don't have butt cracks? No, there's a shower scene you never saw that part oh i don't remember no they're his parents won't let him watch that that's why they waddle is because their legs aren't split it's just like it's like a solid thing on the back and they got like two dimples up by their like sciatic well their legs split at some point don't they huh their legs split at some point, don't they? Huh? Their legs split at some point, don't they? No. No? Are you sure?
Starting point is 02:39:26 I mean, they split, but they're not like... Not like... You need the butt crack to be able to have that... Yeah. The walk. So you can go back and forth like that. That smooth walk like the Wii has. That's what it's there for.
Starting point is 02:39:36 Andrew Scott Young warm white light cassette on baked tape just came out, so you can still get that from baked tapes. Warm white what? Light, I think. think okay warm white light okay i don't understand what's up i don't know either boom boom one big one right boom shalaka laka is it the shoes all right we're gonna go out with uh what we'll go with it's about with this little with He's on fire NBA Jam came out 20 years ago I got it from my phone
Starting point is 02:40:09 Cause I thought it would be fun Are you being serious It probably did 2013 NBA Jam came out 20 years ago You can't just guess these Dave If you're gonna have like this thing NBA Jam release The episode number you can't just guess these, Dave. If you're going to have this thing where you give out facts about the episode number,
Starting point is 02:40:26 you can't just make them up. You're letting our listeners down? You're letting me down. We're going to look it up right now. NBA Jam. Not tournament edition. 1993. Oh, shit. I fucking nailed it.
Starting point is 02:40:41 He already looked that up. Nailed it. Oh, I don't know. I just figured we were going to know. He already looked that up. Nailed it. Oh, I don't know. It'd be a jam with that. Come out June of 93. I don't know. I just figured we were going to. I don't know. I just looked at Alteccon. I don't know.
Starting point is 02:40:50 Just look it up. I just figured we were going to talk about MJ Jam. What's the code to be Bill Clinton? I don't know. Oh, fucking. A-R-K. Arkansas? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:41:02 You could also be. There's a lot of people. I think Al Gore who were all the hidden characters there was one like something dog the bounty hunter oh I know what you're talking about
Starting point is 02:41:13 something yeah something dog he wore sunglasses tournament edition was my jam cause you get the third man so when Detlef Schrempf gets tired
Starting point is 02:41:22 you bring Gary Payton was he really in it yeah I kind of feel like I've done that before too done what before men. So when Detlef Schrempf gets tired, you bring Gary Payton. Was he really in it? Yeah. I kind of feel like I've done that before, too. Done what before? When I guess something, I've been spot... Remember when I told you how many tons an airplane weighed, and you were like, an airplane doesn't weigh that much.
Starting point is 02:41:36 And then I looked it up, and it was exactly that amount. I said like 180,000 tons, and you were like, an airplane doesn't weigh 180... I don't think we had this conversation. I don't remember. 180 tons, and you were like, 180 tons? No, this. I don't think we had this conversation. I don't remember that either. 180 tons and you were like, 180 tons? No, this wasn't me. Yeah, that was you. Because I wouldn't have any kind of guess on how much an airplane weighs.
Starting point is 02:41:52 Yeah, but you thought that was way too much. 180 tons? No, that sounds about right. Wait, Mike was wrong? I remember that. Yeah, I remember every time you were wrong. All right, you want to go out on this tape? I like that Wikipedia...
Starting point is 02:42:07 I like Wikipedia too, Dave. I like how it describes NBA Jam as action-packed gameplay and exaggerated realism. Like, it's not... There's nothing realistic. It's exaggerated. It's exaggerated. Are you telling me...
Starting point is 02:42:19 The heads are bigger. Big head mode. I love big head mode. Or slippery court. Slippery court was a good one. Slippery court was a good one. Slippery court is a good name. Slippery. Night court.
Starting point is 02:42:29 Night court is good. I like night court. You're telling me that playing basketball is not a real thing? And they exaggerated. Exaggerated realism. Yeah. Yeah, but like... Because they take out the ref.
Starting point is 02:42:41 What's that game from Nintendo where you're on the skateboard? Skate or Die? No, but you're like a... Teen Seat Surfer? Teen Seat Descendant? I was going to say. No, you're like a little caveman type guy and then you get the skateboard every once in a while. It's Adventure Island.
Starting point is 02:42:53 Is that what it's called? Oh, yeah. Adventure Island. So I wouldn't call that an exaggerated realism. Skateboarding is real. And so is picking fruit. I guess just because it looks like real people on a real court, but they're doing exaggerated things. I mean, they are real people. They are real people. Except for... They're not
Starting point is 02:43:12 depicted as creatures or, you know, things that they're depicted as human beings in a real court but they're jumping like 50 feet in the air. Are we really talking about this right now? Are we dissecting the Wikipedia? 20 years ago today, NBA Jam came out. All right, let's go out with this last tape here. Wait, what was the release? Oh my God, good Lord.
Starting point is 02:43:35 Oh my God. It was a midway game, by the way. What do you got? Dave, are you done? Yeah, I was looking for an actual release date because if it was this day 20 years ago... Are we talking arcade or are we talking
Starting point is 02:43:52 Sega Genesis? Well, let's see. It came out on Sega CD and Game Boy and Sega Game Gear. It came out on Game Boy? How could you play NBA Jam on Game Boy? Maybe it was Game Boy Advance. No, it just said Game Boy, so I'm assuming it's just Game Boy.
Starting point is 02:44:07 I don't know. Got this tape in the mail today. 400 by 254 resolution on that, by the way. What is this tape? Crack your skull. This tape is very nice packaging. Yeah, this tape by Brian Green.
Starting point is 02:44:23 Tape's called Milltown. Did you know that the two players on each um form on each uh console was different so like for example on chicago bulls like in the arcade game it was scotty pippen and horace grant okay but on sega cd it was scotty pippen and bj armstrong and on um okay so sega c CD was actually the only one that was different all the others were Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant give me who was the Sega CD for the Supersonics um
Starting point is 02:44:52 Seattle Supersonics weren't on wait no that's Eastern Conference never mind Supersonics Sean Kemp and Benoit Benjamin what's his name Benoit are you serious that's who it was
Starting point is 02:45:10 I can't pronounce it this one's really hard on Genesis it was Sean Kemp and Death Left Shrimp I had seen it on Parks and Recreation Super Nintendo
Starting point is 02:45:24 it looks like Super parks and recreation super nintendo oh that's right had a different it looks like super nintendo for the most part had a different lineup than all the other uh consoles for some reason brian green tape uh that was released uh on a label called i think a giant fern i think is what it's called um i didn't have if you
Starting point is 02:45:44 imagine i didn't have the time to look that up because i was so enamored in this dave's nba gym wikipedia rant there's some interesting information yeah i mean it's really interesting mike it's fascinating a giant fern uh it comes in like this wooden box with us yeah and that's handmade is this handmade or did they go to like ac more or like a craft shop and find these boxes? No, I think that's handmade because the little, because the nails. Gold tanning is the only foul in the museum. I didn't see those nails. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 02:46:12 No, I think that's handmade. Handmade these boxes what they get at the bottom of that. Because also, if it's AC Moore, like, if it's a cassette tape, perfect. Like, what other use would that be? This is the front of a birdhouse. And these are cut to size.
Starting point is 02:46:27 It has a circle in the front. Like a little window. No, that's handmade. Did they cut the window out themselves? No, this is the front of a birdhouse. Yeah, but you still have to make... Do you think so? Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
Starting point is 02:46:42 No, there's drill attachments that you can make a hole yeah a hole drill yeah a hole here's my old drill here's the thing a drill that makes holes as opposed to a drill that does what there's drill with a drill bit that makes holes and there's a then there's a hole drill that has bigger holes it's a thing it's called a hole drill yeah but they all make holes they all make holes a drill bit makes holes through wikipedia hole saw wait stop close that i'm gonna try to get oh you mean a hole saw mike close your laptop i'm gonna try to get from nba jam to hole saw and seven moves hold on on. Let's just finish up this tape.
Starting point is 02:47:25 Talk about this tape real quick. I just wanted to say like how nice this box is. But it came with like paper that was wrapped around it that was like hand stamped that I just tore off and crumpled up and threw away. And I think it's part of the packaging. Why would you do that? Because it was like three pieces of scotch tape on the back and there was no way to get it open without...
Starting point is 02:47:43 18 out of 50 without just tearing it apart so i just tore it apart and then i looked at all these pictures on the label's website and they all had the paper and it was all hand stamped so how long we've been like rambling on for whoa this is weird dras and listen this is this is some interesting mba jam trivia right dras and petrovic was killed in a car crash between the release of the arcade version and the home ports. NBA Jam is said to be haunted by Petrovic
Starting point is 02:48:11 due to a bug causing his last name to be randomly called out by the announcer. Oh, that's wickedly grim. Is it? That's what it says. Wickedly grim? It's cited. I'm going to lose sleep over that.
Starting point is 02:48:24 That's crazy, right? Is it the shoes? All right, well, let's play this Brian Greentape. You know, we never even talked about Foxy Digitalis. Oh, yeah. We didn't talk about that. The online publication, Foxy Digitalis, after 10 years, closing its doors.
Starting point is 02:48:42 I can't believe it's been 10. Brad Rose going I think he and all the writers and stuff are going to be writing somewhere else like for Decoder or something like that but uh yeah big ups for Foxy D 10 years of uh
Starting point is 02:48:58 going out on top like Seinfeld they didn't really go out on top like shoeless Joe Jackson alright let's play this Brian Green doesn't play in the leagues anymore but we still talk about him today
Starting point is 02:49:11 alright thanks to Michael Chow for doing the intro intros in the beginning two parts two part series today's two part series
