Starting point is 00:00:00 I can't even. Podcasts. Hot a dance. Podcasts. Blacked dance. I can't even just think about it makes me mad. I once walked out of an Arrowsmith concert because he refused to give me the hits. Give me the hits?
Starting point is 00:00:30 Yeah. I didn't come here to hear your 68B side. No. I want loving an elevator. Tabs out, episode 2.11. How we doing, boys? I'm Joe B. I'm Jamie Orlando.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Full name, huh? I'm just Mike. Just Mike. Yo, I'm just Mike. Well, it's after hours. I know this is a special episode because this is a nighttime episode. Oh. And we haven't done a nighttime episode in solo.
Starting point is 00:01:06 So the point is, we're doing a special after-hours episode because I goofed in scheduling again. That's okay. Couldn't do this morning. I know Jamie's usually a morning guy. Mike is better in the morning. I'm missing my big Sunday grave. I know the birds are on. The eagles are on.
Starting point is 00:01:23 God bless them. Actually, I don't know if there's a sports game today. Joe, can we talk on the show about the Delco accent? your new Delco accent. I told you it was on purpose at first and now I can't stop doing it. Get rid of it. It's too localized.
Starting point is 00:01:37 It's too localized. We want a broader fan base. You can't be talking like some Delco Jagg off. I know. Like I said, it really did start as a bit and then it's just become a reality and I do have to stop.
Starting point is 00:01:52 And I started learning some very interesting things about the cassette tape. Let's talk about cassette tapes. Let's get into this. What do you want to talk about? pretty late. We should start playing some tapes. I still feel like my headphones sound weird. That's okay. We'll get this going. All right. Joby, you want me to start?
Starting point is 00:02:06 Yeah. What do you got? Excuse me. What tapes did you bring? Gazuntite. They should, are they going to be scary tapes? Because this is like a... Well, this isn't the hot... Oh, we only do once a month, don't we? I didn't think about this being the scary episode. I'm sorry. Well, we can figure out a way to make it scary. Okay. I can make anything. You know what? I'll start with this one, and it's scary.
Starting point is 00:02:27 Sonic. Put the reverb. put reverb Sonic death Sonic Youth Live Early Sonic Oh yeah
Starting point is 00:02:37 I saw you texted me a picture Where did you get this No one responded I fucking hate it When I'm like trying And then And I Text etiquette
Starting point is 00:02:48 And emoji etiquette I just want to let you guys in On a little secret Just a thumbs up Thumbs up You know what it could Or a love, a heart You know what it could be
Starting point is 00:02:55 A dancing gorilla It doesn't have to make sense all it is a saying it's confirmation that you got the text there you go I recognize that's a read receipt yeah there you go Jamie that's all I want
Starting point is 00:03:06 I was thinking something special to say and I thought this was a cool tape that I'm playing and uh... you guys were just like yeah you sent me a picture of this old Sonic Youth tape and I thought to myself
Starting point is 00:03:17 where did he get that so why didn't you say that why did I text you where did that come from where'd that come from that looks cool dude thumbs up emoji well what did I eventually say
Starting point is 00:03:27 Nothing. No one said anything. I think you texted some joke or something. I want to save it for the show. This is content for the show. I do enjoy Sonic Youth, but they're not a seminal band for me. So this is like some sort of collage of very early stuff recorded between 81 and 83 that then Thurston Moore like sonically put together. Friend of the noise community. Friend of the noise community.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Big time friend of the noise community. Hosted an art show that this guy over here was in. oh yeah Michael Haley I said his last night had a little piece of art and a little piece of art capital A now does that make me an artist
Starting point is 00:04:04 I mean yeah yeah does I make you like a gallery artist yes yes yes now when I was done did I throw that piece of artwork away yeah yeah yeah I never were to put it I never were to put it and it sucked I think it was some collage work right it was a little bit of collage
Starting point is 00:04:20 a little bit of collage paper on wood paper on wood I did a little paper on wood and Thurston Moore was like I've been in the outsider art scene my entire life i'm an i'm an agent man now but throughout my entire life i've been in the outsider art scene the so i found this and i'd see your art i see your art and i see can i put it inside of my gallery that i have in new york city he curated a like noise people who do art show during no fun fest right yeah okay yeah which was a huge seminal noise festival that we attended multiple times jamie i know
Starting point is 00:04:56 Jamie didn't do the pizzas with those, he didn't do that. You know, when you were sucking on your thumb, actually, Jamie was in a rock band touring. He's in his diapers sucking of his thumb now. I never been to a noise festival. Honestly. Really? You haven't been to Voice of the Valley? Never been to V-O-V?
Starting point is 00:05:11 Never been to No Fun Fest? Wow. Okay. Those are the only two I can think of? Those are the ones. I'll stop my head. Yeah, those are the ones. Sonic Youth played No Fun Fest one time.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Really? Yeah. Do you remember when negative approach played as of the surprise band at the end and Thirstamore played guitar? Holy shit, I'm just remembering that. Wow, that was a memory that I didn't have anymore. That was like insane? Wait, did that happen? Or we're just making that out? No, no, that happened. I can't tell if we'd... You sure that wasn't a bit like we did? No, no, that happened because that's the time when we stayed at Oh, no, no, no, you're thinking of something else. I don't know if we want to give names. We'll bleep out that. Oh, not... I mean, I'll tell you the story from that night. Okay. They tried to lose us. People
Starting point is 00:05:50 tried to lose us. Oh, that's a... Let's not tell that story. That story is, yeah. But you know what? I'll just say this about the story. Tell the punchline. I'll say this about the story. You tried to lose us and thinking we weren't going to have a place to stay in New York, and guess where we slept, your parents' floor. So next time, don't try to lose us. The punch, the cool punchline to that story, Jamie, is that this person's dad who didn't want us to
Starting point is 00:06:10 stay there wrote jingles for TV shows and wrote the subway jingle. Oh, Subway Eat Fresh. Yeah, yeah, he wrote that. I saw the piano. The piano that that was written on. That's like looking at, like, Elvis Presley's guitar. Yeah. The piano that Subway Eat Fresh
Starting point is 00:06:25 was written on. We almost slept on the street that night. That was awesome. So I'm going to play... So I found this tape in the garage at work. Are you going to get us taken down with this Sonic Youth? It's on a static piece,
Starting point is 00:06:36 but it also is on SST. All right, we'll see. 1988. We have Delaware, Dan. He can always tape over it. He can always tape over. No, this one's safe. We can play this.
Starting point is 00:06:45 I think this is safe. Yeah. And this is on, Jamie, chromium oxide. Chromium oxide. So flip the... Take my Nakamichi and take your Nakamichi. It says it right here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:55 that's not metal not metal CRO2 baby CRO2 rare they don't have they don't make that anymore yeah they got a mine for that they got a mine for that
Starting point is 00:07:05 and it's a war-torn area back then they used to just have buckets of the chromium dioxide I mean chromium ox it's chromium dioxide because there's a two I don't know if you know chemistry so yeah
Starting point is 00:07:20 let's play let's play this first and it's not cute up Jamie I found it in the garage at work That's where you got it Just to let you know The garage at work isn't like a nasty garage There's a bar in there There's a lift
Starting point is 00:07:32 Oh it's classy I mean I wouldn't I'd still say it's a little junkie But we hang out in there Okay There's a TV There's a red tape is this It's Greg's my own
Starting point is 00:07:39 The owner of the shop I work out And he gave it to you I know I'm borrowing this This is on loan This is on loan Jamie be fucking careful with this one man But I did look it up today Because he was like
Starting point is 00:07:48 Be careful That's worth a lot of money And it's 35 it goes for tops So this is worth You're just swinging around disrespectfully. I see that. Well, $35. It sounds like the nubs aren't really holding it together too well.
Starting point is 00:08:00 I have $35 in my little pocket right now. I'll just throw this away and give him $35. We got your classic just crossnub. Crossed. Yeah, your classic. Right angle. Quadrant. Both the angles of the thingies are, the flange are the same.
Starting point is 00:08:16 So it's not an off asymmetrical flange. When Joe B says his little pocket, he's talking about his butthole. and that $35 is all in change. I just want to make that clear before we move on. That's where I keep my iPod Nano, guys. Jamie got the one that has vibrate on every time the song changes.
Starting point is 00:08:39 He is so nasty. Jamie, just go ahead. Whatever nasty thing you got to play, just play it. All right. You know what I got here? He is so nasty. It probably won't be Sonic Youth. This is a label that we've played
Starting point is 00:08:50 probably a few times at this point. Jolly's. absolutely how do you spell it J-O-L-I-E-S it's a label from Brooklyn, New York Oh New York City I'm walking here
Starting point is 00:09:00 I'm walking here There's an artist New York City Caught my eye a little bit I'll pass this around Look at this Oh you gotta do a talk Look at this bloke
Starting point is 00:09:08 Oh bloke You can't say that I'll say here's You can't see the The face But here's the sound The face is making Oh
Starting point is 00:09:18 Yeah it reminds me You guys know that comedian Matt Rife No Yeah, yeah. It looks a little bit like Matt Rife, but a way more crazy face. If the Joker didn't have makeup on and Matt Rife was playing him. But this is, what was I going to say?
Starting point is 00:09:34 This actually is a British, is that right? Like, does this person have too many teeth? Maybe. Okay. They're British? British, yeah. Does the Joker have makeup on, or is it like that is a chemical reaction? Well, it depends.
Starting point is 00:09:47 It depends on which version of you seen. Or do you just mean, like, you know, in the Heath Leisure, when he played him, it's more of a makeup, but then more of when Jack Nicholson, it was when he fell into that vatic chemicals. What is the original one, though? Like, what happens in the original comic book? Oh, I don't know the comic book, but the one with Adam West, what's that
Starting point is 00:10:04 dude's name? Cesar Chavez? Is that his name? No. The actor that played Joker wouldn't shave his mustache, so they just put the paint, the white... Caesar Romero? Seizor Romero. They put the paint on over the mustache. Yes, so... I think that was also a sexual thing. So, like,
Starting point is 00:10:19 the Joker has the white makeup on, and he has a mustache. but the white is just on top of it. Yeah, but what is truly more joker-esque and a fuck you to society than putting on makeup on top of a mustache? Over my facial hair. I'm so fucked up.
Starting point is 00:10:34 I'm putting makeup on top of my mustache. Batman. What is this called, Jamie? It's called Tamlin, and I have something interesting about this. So you know in discogs, if there's duplicate artists, you number them.
Starting point is 00:10:45 So this person, one, no, you don't do one, you skip right to two. Oh, you go right to two. Oh, my God, Jovi's been doing one every single time. Okay. We actually got a tape from Nirvana 1 a while back.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Well, that's what I'm saying, Nirvana 1. I think that was part of the joke. But anyhow, this person is Tamlin 6. And I went to the Chatchip-T and I said, what does Tamlin mean? Like, obviously, there's five other artists named Tamlin. Why didn't you just Google that? It's all connected to the same hive mind of servers or whatever. All right.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Any case, Chatchip-D said, I don't really know. And then it cited some kind of Scottish anthem, which I'm getting. guessing that this name is not from. But I don't know why there's six Tamlins on discounts, but it's just, it's interesting to me. I've never heard. I hope that was. It's interesting to me. It's interesting. I like this font. I wouldn't
Starting point is 00:11:34 call it a font. It's like a logo. Yeah, it's a little bit squishy. Oh, the Jolly's logo? Yeah. No, no, no. The Tamlin, it's kind of got a 60s. Well, let me, you know, it's got like a, um, 60. That's what I say, squishy. Yeah, baby. Yeah. Am I horny, baby? Am I? Oh, yeah, this is very horny, baby.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Is that what you wanted to just say, Joe? You wanted to call it horny, but you were a little... No, because I don't use, like, sexual stuff as far as when I describe things. I got to say, like, the green shell with the word... Fizzy! This is also very joker-like. It's very joker-like. This is a Joker-coated tape.
Starting point is 00:12:10 So, Halloween? Joker. Oh, my God. Jamie Orlando, you piece of shit. Put that diarrhea away. You did it. You did it, my guy. That's put a lot of pressure on me.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Okay, well, I'll play a tape that comes me what you got. That comes in one of those. Oh, do we get a whole bunch of those? Yeah, there's two more in the box. What are those? Tell me about it, because I was looking at that. Well, I'm... Right now, I know you're doing anything.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Looks like I could put one of my PlayStation games in there. Yeah, this is like a... Who do you make of that? Let's all look at it at the same time. We have three copies. We can all do that. All right. Should we switch copies every once in a while?
Starting point is 00:12:48 No, they're the same. Okay. Oh, Mike, there's a curse word right away on the color. I know. can I say it? My mom listens to this. Can I say it? All right.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Jamie, I know. I listen with your mom. The tape is called Model of Truth. Songs for fuck. Oh, my God. Is this Sufletorah? On Cold Chamber. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:13:10 The name of the label, I don't know how to say it properly. It's like, how do you say that? It's like if someone. One Eno? I think it's if someone is really upset about seeing Brian Eno. They would say, oh, no, Eno. because it's like O-N-O-E-N-O
Starting point is 00:13:25 O-N-O-O-O-N-O-O-O-O-N-O-O-N-O It's backward, yeah, backwards would be On-O-O-O-N-O-O-N-O-O-N-O-O-N-O-E-O-N-O-E-O-E-O-E-O-E-O-E-E-O-E-E-O-E-E-ROMS. Like, I always read the title forwards and backwards, just to make sure there's no backwards masking. Well, this is fucking hard. You know what that is? It's from when his parents used to play all the music
Starting point is 00:13:48 that he could listen to backwards first. Yeah. Just see if there were any sat-old. Yeah, yeah. Messages in it. Do you think there are... That took away my blues traveler's CD, yeah. Do you think...
Starting point is 00:13:59 When that harmonica goes backwards, you should hear it. Yeah. Do you think there are any... Kill your sister. No, this is fucking harsh noise. Ooh. A double cassette in a... A double cassette of...
Starting point is 00:14:13 Polly, uh, double show. With three... Remember when noise was harsh? Hey, everybody. It's Mike from Tabs out. keep all that going jamie that's why now here's why I'm playing this I'm playing this because
Starting point is 00:14:27 it says on the band camp that the cassette version has a hidden track and I just want to point out that the hidden track is the entire B side it says on the tape hidden track
Starting point is 00:14:43 on the label if you go to the tape and flip it over song for fuck songs for fuck is on one side shut By the way, don't say this so loud. Hidden.
Starting point is 00:14:54 It just says hit it. And it's the entire B-side is a harsh track from Model Truth. What's that? I was playing. I found some harsh noise on YouTube. Okay, okay. I thought that was a grounding issue. Well, mine also came with some other download codes for Quoth, Stasis Demo and Terminal.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Quoth appears to be this label, oh, no, Eno. From Salem... Oh, no, Ena. From Salem, Oregon. They only have two other releases out by someone named Quoth. They're from 2020. And I'm assuming that's who runs this stuff.
Starting point is 00:15:32 It's got to be who... That's who runs the label. Let's get into it. All right, we're going to get into this block of harsh noise. Scary stuff. Scary stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:43 I have no idea. Harsh noise. I know. Joe's isn't either. I have no idea what this tape sounds like. And it's just in the middle. So we'll just play it. The Sonic Youth Tape?
Starting point is 00:15:53 Yeah. Aren't you first? Yeah, but what I'm saying is, I found it in the garage. He's in the middle of the tape. But the garage isn't that bad. It's got a bar in there. There's a bar in there.
Starting point is 00:16:03 But it's not a high-class bar, but it's not enough to hang out. But what I was trying to say is not like a grungy, dirty garage. Like, this tape is filthy. Like, we hang back there. That's not. You got the ball club. They don't want your name. me
Starting point is 00:16:22 On the coat Sonnet close Sonnet close Sonnet close Sonnet close Step your fingers
Starting point is 00:16:38 head your mouth To your talk and rest it out From the song fucking jettling, it's always fucking jettling. Oh! You got the pulse of it, I want you to hear you with me.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Got it go! Got it go! Got it go! Oh, let's hear! Go! I'm going to do you. You're going to do it. Go!
Starting point is 00:17:49 Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! You know, no! and go! You're in the middle of the last I'm going to hear of the need to be able to need to
Starting point is 00:18:03 Go back to not go No, go No, go No, go and now He's got to and rest in the
Starting point is 00:18:13 I'm going to go and shuddle, second, shuddle, judgment, don't, no, no, and go,
Starting point is 00:18:19 go, go, go, You can't happen. Nothing in fact of it. Thank you. Thank you. We're going to be in direct.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Then here we are. Then here we are. Oh! Oh! Oh! Ah! The Phrase.

Starting point is 00:26:36 ...that... ...a... We're going to be able to be. Tabs out. and we're back. Sonic Youth. Sonic Death. Sonic Death.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Early Sonic Youth Live. Joe B, I did a little, Jamie, you'd be proud of me. Would you do some Discog's research? I did some Discog's research because I was looking at your shells of the tape. Don't ever look at my shell.
Starting point is 00:28:19 I took a little peek at your shells. And I was able to calculate exactly which version of this cassette you have. Because there were a few. So which version is this? Many, many. And judging by your, you have the classic gray tape or classic clear tape
Starting point is 00:28:35 with like the liner inside and the white imprinting on the shell and it is the SST ecstatic piece 1988 version yes yes correct that's what it says here on the back originally released in 84 and yeah there are a lot of versions oh okay the original so was the original one just on a static piece the original was just on ecstatic pieces it's crazy how long ecstatic piece has been like a thing. Is this worth more than $35? No, this one I think is only worth $35. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Because he might have had the wrong addition. You're right. This is ecstatic piece number two. What? Yeah, I never really considered with ecstatic piece being around so long. I never really considered what release number two was. And now I know. With their own shit. Their own shit. Yeah. Try giving somebody else a little bit of spotlight. Well, what was ecstatic piece number one? Yeah. Probably Sonic Youth. Huh. That's probably impossible to find out. That's more of a Jamie project. Why can't you just go to the the top it um is lydia lunch michael geera split whoa wow starting off with a bangor it's pronounced
Starting point is 00:29:37 it's not pronounced gira do you know it's a jira it's like yara or something like it's something fuck off i heard someone else say it once like someone that was on his label and they pronounce it all crazy yeah fuck off that's called hard rock also on cassette whoa that's crazy that was the first release that was the lunch michael hira yeah i wonder if we can try try to track that one down See if that, Toby, next time you're in the garage, see if you can't find that. I'm sure that one's not $35. And then what did we play after that? We played, um...
Starting point is 00:30:08 We played, uh, Tulsi, Tolzen, Tol. Tamlin? Tamlin. Tamlin. Tamlin. Oh, I went to high school. She was in my math class. Why so serious?
Starting point is 00:30:17 Tamlin six. Why so serious? On the, uh, what was the name of that tape, Jamie? It was, uh, fizzy. Uh, Jollies. No, Jollies is the name of the label, you idiot. Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn, New York.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Brooklyn, New York And then... Start me up in my can't Just a little bit I hate how you can't get it right I know Well it's just like It's just like
Starting point is 00:30:36 It's I understand It's an art And it's like Love Play You know There's like Cascades You know
Starting point is 00:30:44 There's ups and down So like you know There's a lot of tricks There's a lot of tricks involved So I don't know you were so sexually experienced There are ups and downs There are ups and downs
Starting point is 00:30:54 Damn you have done it before I have done it Speaking of which Songs for Fuck By Bottle of Truth That was not the, I did not play the hidden track. Oh, good, because that's hidden. I want to
Starting point is 00:31:04 let that remain hidden. All right. Joby, you want to start again? I'll start again, because I got a fresh one, brand new. Oh, shit. So you got a thousand, twenty-five. So I went a classic dusty. Classic dusty from the garage, but it's not a nasty garage. There's a bar in there. Sometimes the old ones, the old ones
Starting point is 00:31:22 just stand up better than the new ones. This is a brand new tape from Northern Liberties. Oh, hey, I just saw them yesterday. You just saw them yesterday. Yes, they performed outside. I work with Kevin Riley. He is a great friend of mine.
Starting point is 00:31:39 This is called five songs plus five songs. They just celebrated their 25th anniversary as a band. Nice. Man, time just keeps on passing on. And they played a gig at the Rotunda. Philadelphia. That I was supposed to go to. But I was working.
Starting point is 00:31:55 And my appointment was late. And it was bigger than I thought. And I was there till 10. your appointment was bigger than you thought she was fucking huge like a tattoo like a giant like eight foot five seemed like it was tiny but on her leg
Starting point is 00:32:08 no no the tattoo she was just use a bigger needle Jamie you don't know the ins and outs there's only one needle too there's only one needle no it's like MS paint it's like different paint it is like that actually no but so I actually missed the gig which I was pissed because it was also the night of that policy of three
Starting point is 00:32:24 Sleepy Time Trio frail show same night I missed everything because I had to make some Schmeckles. You missed it all. Because the conversion rate right now for Schmeckles is one to one. They've been dubbed so often. They're practically worth it.
Starting point is 00:32:39 So this is the 25th anniversary tape. Wow. That's so cool. I love Kevin is the bass player. Kevin is the bass. It's just bass drums and vocals and more drums. Vocals and more drums. He that singer had a marching band
Starting point is 00:32:54 type drums set up on. He puts a marching. Oh, I saw that video on Instagram. went for a for a for a novicellic bass toss kevin did oh no no bass toss but with the marching drum oh oh did he hit his head and get a coat get a coma they went up and they went on the floor and then they kind of broke but then he threw the microphone up and caught that and he caught it oh so win some you lose some all together though it was a killer set it was fucking ruled so it seems like this is kind of so yeah this is uh actually i should have talked to kev exactly what this is.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Side A was tracked to ADAT in 2001, originally released as L-T-H-O-N-D-Y-C-R, and then side B we got like a little a little like a
Starting point is 00:33:43 sprinkle of stuff. We got a new thing from 2025. It's an in-X-S cover and that's what we're going to play. Do you think they're doing in Pro Tools now? No more ADATs.
Starting point is 00:33:52 I'm not sure. So, Jamie, we're going to play the B-side, the first track. Do you want to put that up? It's an N-X-S cover. don't change. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Is that going to take us down? Maybe. Okay. I don't know. I think it has to be like the original song for the algorithm,
Starting point is 00:34:07 at least for now. I think when AI gets better in the future, we might really be screwed with somebody's things. AI is not getting better in the future. I gotta keep using chatchee.
Starting point is 00:34:13 I gotta stop using chatchipt. I'm giving too much. Jamie was like is AI getting better in the future? Yeah, so Siby's got a little sprinkle of some new stuff,
Starting point is 00:34:21 a track from 2000, a track from 2019, a track from 2016, another track from 2016. and then like I said the side A is a whole much of stuff from 2001. Powerful stuff. Powerful stuff. They're a great band.
Starting point is 00:34:36 They've been around for, like I said, 25 years. It's pretty crazy. Yeah. And this was put together for the show. This was put together for the show. Special. I came with some stickers. Kevin asked me where to get tapes made, and I said, National Audio Company. The neck. Yeah. A little plug for the A little plug for the National Auto Company.
Starting point is 00:34:53 Hey me the... Oh, the J-Cart? The Justin does all the art. Yeah, I was saying that I really... Actually, this doesn't look like it's Justin drawing, but this might be early Justin drawing, I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Oh, wow, this is nice looking. I love this stock. This is a very nice presentation. And the nub, Jamie? Oh. Up and down. Is an up and down, but an asymmetrical up and down. So the flange angle is we got like a 30 and a 90. What's the science behind that?
Starting point is 00:35:24 Did they come making that shit up? All right, Jamie, what are you playing? follow of Northern Liberties. Joe B, a very punk rock opening for you here. Oh, it is kind of a punk rock. You're so mohawked out tonight. And then I bring it back to the, to the lo-fi keyboard music. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:35:41 I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want. Ambient noise. This. Isn't that Alex Jones? No. Yeah, what do you got? What's the tape? I have this cassette tape.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Okay, let him cook. It's by Sir Tad. Do you know there is a drug reference that I didn't realize. Chip, that's every day of your life. I almost didn't want to play this tape. Wait a minute. The name of this tape was a drug reference that you did not get?
Starting point is 00:36:15 The album title is a drug reference. This is like, stop, I need to hear what this is. No, I want to just say it's on the levels if the title was like Bongwater. And then J.B. was like, Bongwater. What did he say? a bubble gum I've heard of bubble water Is this a bubble gum wrap?
Starting point is 00:36:31 We have to have Matt We'll like find that clip They mean bubble water That was from a swamp ass This was the swamp ass day Yeah All right all right All right
Starting point is 00:36:38 In any case All right So Sir Tad is the artist's name Oh I saw that in the box Yeah okay They sent us multiple copies Thank you very much And the album title
Starting point is 00:36:47 Is Generation Joint Do you know what a generation joint Is? Oh you know what Jamie You might have just School me on drugs Do you know Michael You would know it
Starting point is 00:36:57 as like a grandfather or something? Oh, a grandfather. Like a recycler. We call that. We call that a recycler. Now, I don't know what that is, but I'm inferring what it is based on the fact that, yes. I want to hear what you think it is. You basically pick up the scraps, the roach, or something. Yeah, the roach, Jamie. And then you put, you put that one in a different joint and smoke that. Well, you make a combo of all the roaches. I want it clean with betting music. Jamie explaining what this is. Yeah, Jamie, that's it. So we, yeah, we called it a recycler.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Because, you know, I'm a 90s guy. Let him do this. Mute us if you need to. So, yeah, what a generation joint is, is like, I finished smoking my joint there. I put it in the roach clip to get the very end of it, but I still didn't get it all. And I want to make sure all of it gets used up. So now, my understanding is I would just take that and put it in my next joint. But you're saying I take, I save them all.
Starting point is 00:37:57 for a rainy day. For a rainy day. Generation Join is when my drug dealer is out of town, my journey is, you know, between drug dealers. Yes, this is a rainy day situation. This is not ideal. Yeah. But this is like, we got to deal with it.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Absolutely. So, Sertad Generation Joy. Anyway, I have a couple interesting things to say about this. So Sertad, you may know this artist as Sertad. I feel like this is familiar. Or as an artist named Meadow Argus, or as Tynan Krakoff Tyn and Krakoff
Starting point is 00:38:28 Sounds German I'll say ran and runs the label DNT Records Oh that's familiar Yeah they put out a lot of big bands Like health The band that I listen to Oh health
Starting point is 00:38:40 They're playing relatively soon Yeah No D&T is a classic That's a classic It's a classic Non-horse And I thought Oh non-horse
Starting point is 00:38:46 Yeah I thought it was over And I was pretty sure That they started doing a new label But this one is on DNT Yeah but on this guy It said it ended in 2015 but this just came out and it has the DNT logo on.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I'll just pass it around. Jamie, you ever spoke D&T? Oh, DNT? Is that the Joe Rogan drug? I don't... Oh, that's DMT? That's DMT. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Is that the joke? Four out of 54. What an odd number to make. A little tiny little baby kind of stickers on the shell. What else do I have to say about this? I just thought it was cool that they're bringing it back.
Starting point is 00:39:20 After all these years... Oh, this is an interesting... Old Tine and crack-off is bringing back the label. Milkie, clear... back of the little translucent like a smoky back but not smoky I would call this milky
Starting point is 00:39:31 milk oh my god and you said you didn't get sexual yeah it is a milky back it's milky back damn girl like a one like a one percent don't do it don't do it don't do it damn girl don't do it you got a milky back oh he did it
Starting point is 00:39:45 oh this is cute I like these stickers that's like a little chicken a little chick there's a lot of tracks on here Jamie you get your money's work well like I said it's one of those like it's not noise it's experimental well this was
Starting point is 00:40:02 recorded between 2005 and 2020 between 2005 and 2025 across four generations generation joint baby generation joint the music is a joint and this is the solo project of
Starting point is 00:40:18 f tinen crack alf okay I didn't see the F I never knew the F was the I just know Tyne and Krakoff. Sometimes an artist will add a letter.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Yeah. Sometimes an artist will add a letter like that. My vision actually isn't that great. That might have been a T and then they skipped to the next line. So I might just be Tynin Tynum crackoff. That was just experimental stuff. There's a nice picture of this person on their discogs profile with a Fisher Price tape recorder that I had when I was in kindergarten. Oh, Jamie?
Starting point is 00:40:50 Jamie, you are such a poser. You know what a generation join is because it explains. it on the back here. Oh, does it? Okay. Oh, wait a minute. That's there. For the non-stoner, a generation joint is a joint rolled from the leftover roaches lying around. Smoking it can be a special occasion because it represents generations of smoke sessions of different strains. Time spent with friends and family. This is why you don't get doing drugs, Jamie. You know what? When I see a label in a cassette, in a J-card that says for non, what's that say, non-drug addicts? Non-stoners. That speaks to me. I'm like, ooh, my perk right up for non-stoner.
Starting point is 00:41:30 That's me. So then there's more, Jamie. So for this album, Sir Tad dug through 20 years of recordings, cutting up jam sessions, building upon old tape loops, and returning to old songs, finally landing on a finished version, he takes these musical roaches, so to speak, and rolls them together into a generational joint, 20 years in the making, gear-wise. he uses the usual array of instruments such as cheap keyboards and organs
Starting point is 00:41:58 tape players tape loops melodics, auto harp mandolins, drum machines, all recorded to four track cassette hell yeah that's a good good little tape what do you think Jamie I like it
Starting point is 00:42:15 why not? Why not I still get to pick a tape you do you do? Sometimes you do two in this block I'm not sure I often do two I thought I don't know I was getting the vibe maybe I should stop We're running a little late tonight, but... I thought maybe you guys didn't like it when I did so many... Jamie said we've been talking too much. I just said we've been going on a lot of tangents, which I like tangents.
Starting point is 00:42:34 I like cosines. I like signs, and I like tangents. I understood your tone. Yeah. Funny story. Okay, I got a tape here, and I don't know how to pronounce it. I want to say super toke. Oh, is that drugs? That's a weed reference.
Starting point is 00:42:47 No, no, this can't be, because it's S-U-P-E-R-T-O-U-E. Okay. Super Thoke That's not Torque Because there's no R Lemtat Unit Or is that the name of the group Lemtat Unit
Starting point is 00:42:58 That sounds more like the name of the group Let me see it Because you're so dumb sometimes It's on the label Public Isore Which I'm a huge fan of How we call it Super Torque Because it's on the left But that's bold
Starting point is 00:43:09 I know Jamie figure that out Sometimes the kids This says Super Torque here I think it's super It's not Super Torque Super Toke The past few albums I've gotten on Public Isore
Starting point is 00:43:19 Have been along the free improvisation lines. Oh, yeah, yeah. All the shit that they send to us is like, just weirdo left field. Yeah. A lot of, yeah,
Starting point is 00:43:33 a lot of, whirms, whing, and a lot of, fuck, man. A lot of vocal manipulation stuff. This is throwing me for a loop, Michael. What happened now? That's the official. That's the official, when it's from Ban Camp, that's the official album and artist. So what's on the top in bold? Yes. No, I thought was a fucking question. Yeah. What's on the
Starting point is 00:43:49 top in bold? And you said, yes. Well, I don't know. The band name or the name of the album? Oh, I don't, I can't know. So, so what's official? You got to pull another tape off the shelf that it still has a download card in it. Because what I'm saying is on this, the download code thing, it says lemtat unit in bolder lettering on top. Okay, hold on, this one says Generation Joy and Bold Lettering on top.
Starting point is 00:44:13 That's the album title. Insert tab below it. From Bandcamp? Yeah, it's a Bankcamp download food. Okay. So it Sir tab below So sir
Starting point is 00:44:23 Super toke Yeah so they put the Yeah And this is a trio It was recorded in 2011 Um Let's see here And this is episode 211
Starting point is 00:44:44 211 And the zero The zero doesn't count So So yeah 2011 and 2-11 are They're the same thing Magic number, angel number
Starting point is 00:44:53 Yeah Tim Olive Tim Olive plays magnetic pickups And electronics on this Tim Olive did a tape on fault That I feel like We may have played before Or something like that Kelly Cherko
Starting point is 00:45:07 Something like that We played and we wrote Somebody wrote something What else could be like playing the tape Someone wrote about it on the website So we did a review or something like that All right you're right I apologize.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Kelly Chirko. It's nighttime, sorry. Who passed away in 2014, but if you check out their discogs, definitely a real head on a just a ton of fucking releases on a bunch of awesome labels. Nice. And Cal Lyle playing an electrical, electrical guitar and electronics. But this is, yeah, it's just a fucked up tape. Everything on Public Eyesore.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Who's their cataloged. numbers are EH question mark, and then a number, I think, which I never really did. EH question mark. I like it. I don't understand it. I'll tell you about what that is. Oh, you know. They have a sublabel called E.
Starting point is 00:45:59 So that's a new series of tapes as a child label of public eyesore. So what? Because I've gotten, this is on E. Yeah, it is. Oh, really? Yeah, this is on public eyesore. No, this is on E is number one. I've got a few of these out of the mailbag, so.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Hold on. I'm confused. I'm 99% short. Have we ever received anything from public eye? eyesore you know what's funny always they sent they're the one they're one of the labels is still send us CDs because whenever they send us a CD you always give it to me and I take it away it's always them it's sometimes them yeah I'm really confused now it's like this though eh yeah hold on I got it's like this how would you say that in a Delco
Starting point is 00:46:36 accent yeah I don't know so public eyesore and eh are two different does it say public eyesore anywhere on no that's why I've been very confused the whole you keep saying that. I've been fucking bamboozle this whole time. I've been saying public... I'm sorry, I didn't correct you. Oh my God, I feel like such an idiot.
Starting point is 00:46:52 Yeah, where did that come from, Mike? Why did you even think that? I don't know now. What, I don't know. I thought you were a smart one here. But Eh has a lot of releases. Yeah, this is 132. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:02 So I wouldn't even call this the child label. Who has more releases at this point? Oh, that's a good question. What is public eyes? Sometimes the... I'm on it. Public eyesore has... Oh, they're only up to like 82.
Starting point is 00:47:16 Yeah, so... 120. Which is the label? What is the real label? Oh, 160. Hold on. They're not... These numbers are exponentially going up.
Starting point is 00:47:23 How do they get so much higher all of a sudden? 80? Because they're sorting... 120? They slightly change their cataloging system, so it's sorting... Weirdly. Sometimes it has a space, sometimes it doesn't. Any case.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Yeah, it's in the 160s, so they're... Okay. Maybe they're a little bit ahead, but not too much ahead. Not too much. All right. So the wolf is becoming the cub. Three. Two.
Starting point is 00:47:46 All right. Well, that's what I'm going to... I'm gonna play. All right, sounds good. Wait, is that just one or did I pick two? You picked one, but we weren't sure
Starting point is 00:47:51 if you were gonna pick two or not. Yeah, why the fuck not? I'll do this one here with the bunny on it. Uh, what is that? Is that a, what is that? What is that? What animal is that?
Starting point is 00:48:02 I think that's a really fat bunny. No, that's like a squirrel like a, or a big dog or something. I've never seen a dog like that. And you did work in a vet. I worked at a vet hospital. That kind of blows, that mush in out of the water then.
Starting point is 00:48:16 But you're right, it is sort of, of squirrel-like, but I think that's a big fat rabbit. I believe in this world, there are things that we have not yet discovered, and I think this may be one of them. On the back here, it's definitely more of a squirrel. Thank you. Or on the inside, but he's not fat.
Starting point is 00:48:31 Dave Rudder. Little old Davey-Roo is the name of the Dave. Is it really called Little Old Davy Roo? It is, and I don't know why I feel like that's the, even though I haven't written down here, that's the first time I'm seeing it, and I wrote it down. Is that with it? Oh, Lil' old Davy Roo-Ro. Little Davey Roo-Roo. I
Starting point is 00:48:47 believe this tape, Jamie, if you can look it up real quick, there's a bunch of guests, a lot of names that we know. Oh, big, big time names. It might be in the J-card there. It is. It is. Let me get this going. What do you got?
Starting point is 00:48:59 See, these people play instruments, so I think Jamie might know them. We got Miranda Agnew trumpet. I don't know that. Gelsie Bell vocals. Robbie Bowen. Not familiar. Not familiar. Andrew Livingston.
Starting point is 00:49:13 Not familiar. Emily Manzo. Andrew Livingston, we played tapes since familiar. Major Livingston, we played tapes before by Andrew Livingston. May, May. It's M-A-E-M-A-Y. Roberta Michael. Rebecca Patterson.
Starting point is 00:49:27 Cammin Quill. Carmen Quill. Dave Rutter. Eliza Simon, Simmons. Jeff Tobias. Oh, K-O-Dot. Jamie, shut the fuck out. K-O-Dot's not going to give you any attention.
Starting point is 00:49:41 Everything you mentioned them. We get it. You love K-O-Dot. This is a single. silly-ass tape, I think. I can't remember. I listened to it when I first came in and I remember liking it a lot, but I didn't write anything about it down and I haven't listened to it in a while. But that dog on the front should see a doctor. Or like, is it some kind of like cheetah? So, so do you know who this guy is? No, Dave Rudder. So it seems like he doesn't, he just does
Starting point is 00:50:08 vocals on all the tracks. So maybe he's the bandleader. Yeah, so it seems like he's, it says voice for him. Oh, like the maestro? The guy with the six? He tells everybody, Andrew Livingston. No, but he's, there's more extended technique. There's evidently vocals, so I think he's singing also. Yeah! Come on, Andrew.
Starting point is 00:50:26 Did you just play that guitar note normally? And then you better extend that technique, Andrew. On the track, Seltzer to a B, he plays all the instruments. But otherwise, Tommy was so. Otherwise, it's a whole roster of different players playing various instruments. are you what are you saying he's a fraud no what i'm saying is like uh it's funny that he named this tape after himself when he doesn't do any of the music you know i just thought would be really funny little david ru-ro if uh you know you ever see those one-man bands where they got the bass drum and the
Starting point is 00:50:58 symbols oh yeah yeah do extended technique on that oh that would be awesome what does that mean if you don't if you have to ask you don't get it you take a fork on the symbols fork you have like a electric shaver yeah a rubber chicken when you hit the bass drum yeah okay yeah all right You ready to play these tapes? Yeah. Yep. I'm standing here on the ground Just I can't find out
Starting point is 00:52:15 On the wall Seen all the hell On my renter A grandchildren Of happiness Things happen for you too long Don't tell you
Starting point is 00:52:37 No Don't say that you know For me Don't say it all Don't say it all for me I'd love I had lost

Starting point is 01:09:12 Oh, we're past that part. You guys say what we just played. Oh, yeah, what we just played? Northern Liberties. Northern Liberties. Five songs plus five songs. We played a... Just blank this out in post.
Starting point is 01:09:23 The song's called Don't Change, Jake. XS cover. You said blank it out in post, but you kind of... Not really bleeped it out now. It's a double entendre. Okay, I got it. Jamie, what did you play?
Starting point is 01:09:34 Sir Tad, Generation Joint. Sertad, good to meet you. The comeback of DNT records. A lot of drug references for Jamie to look up there. He got some contact high just from Google and some of that stuff. And then I played... Did I play one or two?
Starting point is 01:09:49 I played... Something on... I was super to... I'm still gonna call a public eyesore. It's not that, though. It says it doesn't say that anywhere. The thing is, are we gonna go back through all the old...
Starting point is 01:10:00 I'll give Matthew Wheelcock to do that. That sounds... Wheelock? Don't say cock. I'm sure that someone's last name... You're better than that. No, but you're better than that, Joe. You don't have to say that.
Starting point is 01:10:13 And then I played the... What was the one you were pissed off about? Little Baby Roo. Little Baby Rooder. David Rutter. David Rutter. I'm not pissed off about it. I'm just saying like, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:10:23 Maybe get some other people. Maybe David Ruger and friends. I'll just give them this piece of advice. Little, my little bit of advice. Yeah. Jamie Wool's the name? Jeff Tobias. Codod.
Starting point is 01:10:35 We all recognize Jeff Tobias his name, right? Yeah, from Kodod. From Kod. On the cover of this tape, instead of David Rutter, which it may or may not say. It does. David Rudder, little David Roooo. Instead of that,
Starting point is 01:10:47 put, featuring... Jeff Tobias from K.O.D. Jeff Tobias from K.O.D. On one track. Do you think if we lived in New York City, they'd invite us to play with some of the cooler? New York City.
Starting point is 01:10:59 We'd be playing with Jeff Tobias. Stop. Trying to get involved in the Kodot circle. Oh, could I be in K. I could play keyboards in Kodot. You could maybe. Maybe. You could.
Starting point is 01:11:09 I'd have to look a little bit. I need buy more black clothing. Yeah. Yeah. Once you're in New York, Jay, Jamie, your whole outfit's going to change. I want to see Jamie sticking out like a sore thumb on the Kho. Dot photo shoot.
Starting point is 01:11:20 Now here's one for... Here's one for Matthew Wheelock, our clip guy, the clipmaster. Clipmaster. Something where you Photoshop a Kho dot promo shot and a picture of Jamie. Don't make Toby Driver angry at me.
Starting point is 01:11:38 Yeah, don't make Toby Driver. I've built up my trust with Toby Driver over the years. Well, let's all give... Jamie's got a long game he's working on. Yeah, I heard Jamie saying the other day, hold me closer toby driver. I think we should all pick one element for the photo of Jamie that we want to be changed. I say he was wearing a diaper is my thing. Oh, Sam was going to have him wearing really short jean shorts.
Starting point is 01:12:00 Okay, over the diaper. Okay, Jamie, what do you want? A little clothespin show through. Yeah, yeah. That's what it is. So it's K-O-Dot. And next, and Jamie is there with his keyboard. He's got on a diaper.
Starting point is 01:12:14 Kurzweil, right, Jamie? Kerzweil, yeah. He's got on a Kurzweil diaper. I think I'm still on the website. We've cut off tight jean shorts and you see the bobby pin poking through the jeans. Bobby? All right, this is the last block, right?
Starting point is 01:12:36 Yeah, so mine... Full of energy. Full of energy. Yeah, this is like classic ones where we're just falling apart at the end. Yeah, that's fine. That's cool. I'm actually just hitting my stride I'm not really sure
Starting point is 01:12:48 with my selection right now whether how we're going to do this but I just thought you got the shrink wrap still on those puppies no no no there's no shrink up there's a sticker on the shell they put the sticker right on the shell yeah I don't want you to see how much I paid for these but it is ridiculous that price tag on there that's what you paid
Starting point is 01:13:04 you paid hold on Joe I paid $20 you pay sticker price for tapes I paid $20 for this one it's actually really depressing and it's going to end up in my house one day And I paid $13 for this one. The discrepancy between the two is actually ridiculous. How, why is this one 20? Why did they determine this one was 1999?
Starting point is 01:13:23 And this one was 1299. Yeah. Oh, what are they? What do you got? I told you about these before. This is for that tiger, remember tiger? Is that the only? They made like electronics, Tiger Electronics.
Starting point is 01:13:34 Yeah. Oh, yeah. Those little games and stuff. Yeah. Oh. They made a robot that you could put tapes in. And there were different. programs, and then it would
Starting point is 01:13:46 look that up again, Mike. You look that up. Huh? Huh? Yeah, I'm not going to look it up, but there was a robot. Are you not going to look it up? Jamie's our research. He's already.
Starting point is 01:13:56 You just stopped. Like, you went to your mouse and started with it, and you just said, well, I'm not going to look it up. The Tiger 2XL talking robot. The 2XL talking robots. You can get it for $34 on eBay. Damn, I always, I paid that much for both these tapes.
Starting point is 01:14:10 What does it do? I got to ask chat GPT. You do that. Okay. So this one, while Jamie's on that. Mike hates that joke. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:14:18 This one's for babies. We're not babies. I'm a baby. This one's called Fascinating Facts. Ages 4 to 9. That's babies. That's kind of babies, right?
Starting point is 01:14:29 This one Voyage to Outer Space. Oh, that's for big kids. Seven to 12. That's for big kids. So there's a little crossover, which I like. It's not like,
Starting point is 01:14:39 this is 4 to 9, 7 to 12. Uh-huh. There's a little, they overlap. lap, just like this much, right? Yeah, if you're a mature, like, seven-year-old.
Starting point is 01:14:48 So if you're eight... Yeah. You can listen to both. I can listen to both now. I can't do both now. But if I'm 10, if I'm 10, I can only listen to voice from... My mom says what I'm 10.
Starting point is 01:15:03 I can listen to voice from outer space. Jamie, I want you to look at these tapes because the reason why I bought these and paid that much money, even though the bit is stupid, is the back imprinting I'll pass one to you
Starting point is 01:15:16 The back imprinting of the cassette tape Yeah So do you know The Tiger 2XL Is an educational Talking Toy Robot Introduced in 1978
Starting point is 01:15:24 by Meggo And later re-released In the 90s Bytecomets And the Mega version Played 8 tracks And the Tiger version played cassettes
Starting point is 01:15:31 And played eight tracks Yeah The original word You want to hear My follow-up question In Chat GPT? Yeah Is it a generation joint
Starting point is 01:15:38 And it said I'm not aware Of any product Called the Generation Joint Connected With Tiger 2XL you're gonna fuck up that Jamie look at the look at this imprinting on the
Starting point is 01:15:45 B side so the tapes are obviously made typically you hold a cassette and the tape that's being exposed is facing down facing down and that's the way the J car or not the J car the the sticker on the shell orient but this you turn it upside down
Starting point is 01:16:02 again I don't think he looked at it I think he just picked it up no no no no no no then what was the joke it said wrong side okay all right it says wrong side upside down though it makes it wrong side on the B side upside down wrong side but why didn't they just
Starting point is 01:16:16 put the same program on both sides oh Mike doesn't like it when you do that yeah but he says do a split this is a toy company this is a toy company that's making do a split with Mattel
Starting point is 01:16:25 get Barbie on the other side interesting facts and hot wheel an interesting fat hot wheels split or like a journey
Starting point is 01:16:36 to space micro machine split or something easy bake of it on the other side there's so many toys So I don't even know how we'll play these. I just thought they were interesting artifacts of cassette. Well, what's on them?
Starting point is 01:16:47 I don't know. Fun fact, interesting facts, and a voyage outer space. I hope it's not a data track. Is it going to turn my cassette player into the robot? It might, Jamie, unplug the internet. Unplugged it. Yeah, airplane mode. Airplane mode before we play this one.
Starting point is 01:17:02 Maybe on my Nakamichi. Not on this one. It's not very specific. My Nakamichi has airplane mode. My Nakamichi has airplane mode. So I'm going to play one of those Or maybe a little bit of both And you've listened to them already
Starting point is 01:17:17 No Actually I did a little bit I did a little bit Okay so it's not a data tape It's not a data tape I know it's not a data tape It's not going to turn my As much as Jamie wants to turn
Starting point is 01:17:25 My cassette player in AI It's not going to do that No it's not going to do that Okay Okay that's cool That should be fun This reminds me of Many many episodes ago
Starting point is 01:17:35 When we played those What were those That video game console ZX Spectrum The ZX Spectrum Oh, I remember that episode. Yeah, and those tapes were data tapes, and they were pretty good. No, they were sick.
Starting point is 01:17:46 Yeah, they were pretty good. There were parts that were good. Better than Mersbao. Better than Mersbao. Yeah. Fast forward. Fast forward, sir. Don't say that.
Starting point is 01:17:55 Don't say that about Mersbaugh. You're going to get it. You're worried about getting these episode taken down. That's what's going to do it. Hmm. Talk about Mersbow. Okay. My turn?
Starting point is 01:18:05 Your turn? My turn. Our good friend. Jamie. From somewhere in Ohio. Maybe Columbus. Tim Thornton. Tim Thornton.
Starting point is 01:18:13 This is that new one, Jamie? Yeah. I'm going to take a stab at the pronunciation again because I got called out last time because I said hi-fi schazer box. It's actually Hafei-Fizer box. Or Ha-fi-fi-shazer box. Hefei-skezer box. The word ska is in there. Is there any scala on this?
Starting point is 01:18:31 No, it's kind of like just wacking. It's not really wacky. But it's pretty intense, electronic like break. core, boom, bam, boom, bat,
Starting point is 01:18:43 to bring. Jungle. Yeah, jungle, like, it's fast. The cover looks like
Starting point is 01:18:47 in like a scary, limited box of Pop Tarts. Yeah, the cover is different than Sweet
Starting point is 01:18:54 309 usual look. I don't get a Pop Tarts thing. I get a, like a hip, like a,
Starting point is 01:19:00 if I went to like some boutique record store in New York City. See, I'm getting a weird Japanese game show.
Starting point is 01:19:07 Let me say. The title of the tape is called BPD Superstar Ultra And also the name Sweet 309
Starting point is 01:19:15 Number 353 The name is also a game show This is not the first How many tapes by this project Has Sweet 309 release This is 353 It's a lot Wow I meant by this artist
Starting point is 01:19:29 Oh by this artist Oh man That's up my head But I know we played one On Sweet 30 and I really love I'm gonna say three How many do you guys think? I'll look it up right
Starting point is 01:19:37 I'll say four I'll say four Oh is that one of those all over printing shells. Yeah, but it's just orange. Like, they decided to, we're not going to do an all over, like, pattern like the other people do.
Starting point is 01:19:49 Yeah. It's just going to be orange. It's going to be like an orange shell, but the imprinting is the orange. And then there is the, like, graphic of the letter in kind of like a graffiti-type font with a little, like, drip. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:03 But it's just, but it's not just orange because it got this, like, texture to it. But the tape itself, the plastic's clear. Yeah. this they could have went with an orange shell could have yeah could they didn't yeah that's a choice that's a choice that was a choice i like this choice i'm recognizing this good design work a very good piece were you just fiddling with the tabs for some reason my i don't know my glasses on i thought they were in okay um this artist has released in every other year they released a tape on suite 309
Starting point is 01:20:35 starting in 2021 headache bait in 2021 manic in your house 2023 and bpd superstar Ultra this year. So in 2027, expect another release. Oh, wow. Is that how it works? It's like the cicadas. Yep. Every two years. That's very interesting. Well, there's different broods. You're one of those guys. One of the different brood guys. What do you mean? Brood X happened?
Starting point is 01:20:56 There was Brood 13? I don't think so. I think there's one brood and I think the media is trying to divide us. Oh, the woke media. Love to fidget, my family, my friends, and especially my haters. Oh, shit. This tape, they give it to their haters. Yep, this is a disc tape
Starting point is 01:21:13 I didn't know this was a disc tape You know it's about time the haters got a little piece of that shit Yeah Yeah man Some hyphy What track you're gonna play I'm starting it
Starting point is 01:21:21 Oh geez Suffering girl I think I'm kicking right off on the A side on this one A side Yeah E62 fun Well I can't see because the shell is I can't see how much
Starting point is 01:21:35 I played But any case Yeah Oh Jamie this is mature Is it There's a content rating on the back. It's 17 plus. What time is it, Mike?
Starting point is 01:21:44 It's 4.20. It's 8 o'clock on a Sunday. Yeah, Barry played songs for fuck earlier, right? Oh, okay, you did. All right, we're good. Just, Jamie, when you post this, make sure it's after 10 p.m. All right, so now I'm going to end it.
Starting point is 01:21:59 And I'm going to end it with two. I'm going to end it with... I think this is pronounced... I don't know how to say this. Joby, how do you say this? This looks like a... Are you trying to show me your screen on your laptop? Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 01:22:16 How do you say that? Oh, this one? Yeah. Mon... I know, it's a thinker, right? Mon... It's a thinker. Yeah, it's...
Starting point is 01:22:24 That's where it's trip me up to. That's what trip me up to. That's why I ended up. Mononter. It's still, the hesitation. Oh, this is a cool... Mononitor. Mononitor.
Starting point is 01:22:37 Mononitor. Mononator. It's not a minotaur, it's a mononitor It's a self-title tape on Naomi Materials This is very cool packaging It is, there's this O-card Is it a silk screened o-card? I couldn't really tell I can't, I don't think it's silk screened
Starting point is 01:22:52 There's a... It says something on the bank camp About how there's unique fading on the cover art And I don't know what that means You know what? Like a gradient? I wanted to say Like each one has its own type of thing Every gradient's different
Starting point is 01:23:05 That this fading I don't believe that's unique yeah it is well what does that mean though I don't know they let them out in the sun or something I'm trying to describe the back text looks
Starting point is 01:23:18 not Babylonian but maybe that was found in a desert right yeah it's like 4,000 years old on a sand script on a tablet yeah yeah that's tablet that's tablet writing that's is it a Nordic ruin no no no okay we're talking about sand sand here
Starting point is 01:23:35 yeah yeah yeah no no no no noric ruins we're talking about sand and then I slid the tape out and then inside is a standard standard tape and again now we've got like a a 3D you know
Starting point is 01:23:50 facade maybe a piece of a facade of like it looks like some figures but again looks Babylonian-esque Mike oh your download code's popping out that's what you said to me last night and thanks for that heads up too last night by the way
Starting point is 01:24:04 when you told me my download code was popping out because we were around people. Oh, now I got a, now I got, now I got beef. Why, what happened? Because they went all out. I guess they spent most of the budget on this O-card and the unique. Oh, yeah, they definitely spent a lot.
Starting point is 01:24:21 Well, it's a pro-dub tape, Joe. Is there a pro-dub tape? Is there handwriting? It's not handwriting, James. Let me guess. Let me guess. Look, okay. It's not handwriting?
Starting point is 01:24:32 I got no other guess as if it's not handwriting. And it's not a Band-Aid. You, oh, the little But it is just a little rectangular sticker that says Mananatar And it's off centered We still can't say it
Starting point is 01:24:45 Let me see though That might be a choice And that's eventually gonna come right off Come right off That glue is gonna fail No, I like this I think this is a good look I think they made a good aesthetic choice here
Starting point is 01:24:56 It's a turd And this is Oh and Is that a segment on the show when one of us brings a tape that you don't like we designated. Every show there's one tape that's designate the turd. And then it's not a J card, it's an I card.
Starting point is 01:25:14 Yeah, it's just the one panel, but they gave you the O cards around the eye card. It's called it, yeah, that's good enough. But they gave you the O card with the Unique Fading. I know what the O card with the New York Fading. No, this is spectacular. I want to see an I card with Sirrifts on it. Oh, Sirriffs.
Starting point is 01:25:31 Michael. There's stuff on the inside. Really? Yeah, there's that, that naked lady that's on the, that's on the little print, the little... I told you, don't let Jamie say it. This little, this little silhouette of the... It's a striking silhouette, yeah, some matured silhouette. Oh, no, no, I didn't say it wasn't tasteful of this naked lady.
Starting point is 01:25:49 It's very tasteful. But there's two of them on the inside. Oh, two of them. And if you look at it like this, it's like, it's... How many cups? So if you... You gotta put your eye through it and then squeeze it. It's like an old time you...
Starting point is 01:26:03 It's like old... time porno That's a peep show That's a peep show It's a classic peep show And I guess if you And because there's one on each side It makes it 3D
Starting point is 01:26:13 So you spin it And no you squeeze it You squeeze it And she Giggles a little bit That's pretty erotic Oh my god That's how it used to be
Starting point is 01:26:23 Jamie When eroticism was classy This is like all you need it back then That's all you need it Now it's like oh my god It's a unique printing On a card And you squeeze it
Starting point is 01:26:32 Squeeze it a little bit It's got a nice bounce to it It's got a nice bounce back And nowadays the internet Everything's ruined You wouldn't know Jamie Because we didn't give you it to you But it does have a bounce to it
Starting point is 01:26:44 Do we know what labels this on Michael Naomi Materials Oh it's that So what does this label? It's like N-A and then a little dot And then OMI Materials Well this is their first release
Starting point is 01:26:56 Oh Coming out strong Coming out strong And then they have One Nautar One other one here Let's see I think it might be just a digital
Starting point is 01:27:03 album. Yeah, so I wouldn't even mention what that is. Legally, I can't. But yeah, new label out of New York. City? New York City. Yeah, New York, New York. Which borough? They didn't list that on here. I want a good label from Staten Island. Oh, shall win. Yeah. And then I'm going to end this, and I want you guys to pick. I have two tapes here that I couldn't. I'm going to end this. And then this will end. That's the deal. And I want you guys to pick. I two tapes here by
Starting point is 01:27:34 The Gate Almost Live and Dr. Slimer Frozen Empire are the two that I have here Now we have played We've played both of these
Starting point is 01:27:46 artists before I remember Dr. Slimer You can't forget that name And you know what is interesting about When we've played them The Dr. Slimer tape We've played on
Starting point is 01:27:54 These both resonate with Scary They both Yeah The Dr. Slymer tape the last tape we played on 190, episode 192 along with an interview with
Starting point is 01:28:07 Mark Masters. Oh, I hate that episode. The last time we played The Gate was episode 193 when we played the high bias book compilation. This also, this is a book.
Starting point is 01:28:20 It comes with a zine. The gate comes with a zine. Now, the tape is lacking. It's just a tape inside a Norelca case. There's nothing there. Did you say this is the gate? Sorry, I haven't been listening.
Starting point is 01:28:31 The gate. is the gate. The gate is, that's a tuba-driven band, from what I remember. I believe they're tuba-driven. Tuba-driven. Yeah. But it's like, it's like, uh, drone metal, but with tuba is like the drone, the drone instrument. And it comes with a little zine of a little collage work, a little artwork, very nice. I grabbed the gate tape from the mailbag one time. It's really good. And then this one. Oh, good. Dr. Slimer looks good. What's Dr. Slimer on? What label? I believe it's a self-release tape. Okay. Now, the downside, I think, of playing Dr. Slymers, I think we're just going to go through the same material that we always go through
Starting point is 01:29:05 or that we went through last time. You know what I mean? Because I'm sure we'd say like, oh, what if Slymer from the Ghostbusters was a doctor? We'd riff on that. Jamie would say like, what if he was an OBGYN. What if he was in K-O dot? Yeah. You would take it too far. I just did the impersonation of myself. It's good. It's good. Jamie Orlando here. Jamie Orlando. Oh, hi. So this is a zine, like a photo collage zine. Oh, Aifex twin is in here with Idriselba in a ad Eternity by Calvin Klein. That's pretty funny. Yeah, so we got a photo collage color
Starting point is 01:29:37 zine with some spooky stuff. This on the back is a guy from Hellraiser and says, human, closet demons love amongst... No, I'm sorry. Closet demons love almost live. Oh, Jamie, should you read the back of this?
Starting point is 01:29:54 Jamie should read the back of this. You know what? I don't think it makes sense. I think it's like a William S. West Burroughs type of situation. Oh, it's a little bit of word salad. The gate has a phone number. Oh, let's call it. Do you want to call and read this to them?
Starting point is 01:30:07 No, I'll call it. Okay, I'll give you the number. 989. I'm not ready. I've got to turn my date on. 1.989. The gate. I don't have letters.
Starting point is 01:30:19 843. 843. 4-2-83. 4-2-8. I thought I had a little reverb for a second. Then it went away and it was nice. Yeah, let's see what this phone number is. Welcome to the gate hotline.
Starting point is 01:30:34 Press 1 to hear side A of the new album. Press 2 to hear side B. Press 3 to hear album info. Press 4 for recent reviews. Press 5 for bonus sound. Press 6 for the operator. Press 7 for the bird submenu. Press 8 for the secret menu.
Starting point is 01:30:52 Press 9 at any time to return to the main menu. Hold on. Joe, I got some information here. It's insane. This piece of paper says hotline secret menu code 5291. well you have to hit the secret menu code first and then probably oh yeah it it deleted it fuck okay call back it wasn't read all but i just press two to hear side b press three to hear album info press four for recent reviews press five for bonus sound press six for the operator press seven for the bird sub menu press eight for the secret menu press nine
Starting point is 01:31:30 Welcome to the secret menu. Press any number except zero. Do we press zero? What do we press? The cutlet code is, say, dot, phone in parentheses, bracket, alphabet, colon, space, single, quote, the single, quote, comma, p. H, colon, single, comma, lay of single, comma, bracket, comma, single quote, live, quote, end parentheses, semicolon, break,
Starting point is 01:31:56 semi-colon case, common in bracket. That was just experimental stuff. Matt Wheelock has to... Matthew Wheelock's got to do that one. Because that might have been code right there, Jamie. Yeah. Should we put that in the chat GPT? To put it into chat CBT to like...
Starting point is 01:32:09 Mm-hmm. Make some... Like, it'll make like a face. Oh. That's kind of... Like DOS. My mind is being blown right. I can't believe they set up a hotline.
Starting point is 01:32:18 I'm going to do one more. I'm going to do one. Press one to hear side A of the new album. Press 2 to hear side B. Should we talk to the operator? I want to do that. Press 4 for recent reviews. Press 5 for bonus sound.
Starting point is 01:32:32 Press 6 for the operator. Press 7. Please hold. Well, I'm going to stay on hold. And then this was Tabs out episode 2.11? Yeah, let's play these tapes. It's a perfect night. As you probably know by now, my name is two ex-o.
Starting point is 01:33:33 And this program is called Voyage to Outschus space. But before we begin, I have a simple question for you. I'd like to know if this is the first time you have played this program, if this is the first time you have ever played this program before, press two, press one or two, press one or two now. Thank you. I now know you've played this program before, and I imagine you are trying this program.
Starting point is 01:34:00 I get 10 questions right so we can finally blast off. A good rock. And remember every time you play the first robot into deep the answers. And now I have some bad news. Which of these is a year? Now I have some time it takes for A can choose one you go around to be my ground controllers.
Starting point is 01:34:16 B, the Earth to go around the Sun Now I have chosen you. Now I have the round the moon. Press A before C now. Do not know what you are doing. I can crash and maybe break my face or something and that would not be so good. A. To prevent this from happening, I have prepared to go around this Earth.
Starting point is 01:34:33 The correct question was B, and my memory banks will keep year to go around the Sun. Question number two, can we blast off as you probably know. Since this is the first solar system, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, to only press my buttons after Earth, Mars and Uranus. What I'd like to know is which is the closest planet to the Sun.
Starting point is 01:34:53 Here are only two choices for you. Do you think the closest planet to the Sun is Question number two. One, true or false. Our sun is really a star. Press true or false now. Saturn is wrong. Mercury is the right and the planet to the sun.
Starting point is 01:35:17 Question number three is now available from me, a little poem. What does the word planet mean? This is not an easy question, but listen carefully and you might guess at the answer. A, big fat blob. B, planet means where people live, or C, a wanderer because the planets moved differently than the stars in the sky. Please press A, B, or C, now. I would now like to speak in a little joke right or wrong.
Starting point is 01:35:50 What is the best way to see it okay to spink in a man's face? Easy when his mustache is on site? Let's get back to business here. You are right to the planet. It's just not going to make it in this program as a correct answer. I am sorry. The planets move differently than all the stars. That's because people are all going to notice the sky.
Starting point is 01:36:13 And then they're almost the stars. Wrong answer. Question number four is now at my door. How old is our solar system? Here are three choices. One, ten million years. Years. B, two, 10 million years.
Starting point is 01:36:29 Or C, 100 million years. Or C, one and they have billion years. Please answer, A, B, or three now. Question number five is now. 10 million is a good, if you can. But four and one, the right billion years is correct. That's a long time.
Starting point is 01:36:49 Question number five is now about to arrive. If you were in outer space, you could lift up a cement truck. You could carry the Empire State Building on your back.
