Tabs out. Mike. I'm Dave. I'm Joe. Back. Joe's back. Joe, are you a regular now? I'm in. Back in
the habit. I'm in. Weaseled his way in.
Full-time. Full-time gig.
Good for you. Glad to
see something stuck. You work hard.
I'll probably get bored of this. You work hard, you start at the
bottom, but you work hard and, you know,
you'll succeed. Joe B is
a testament of that.
What did you say?
What did you say? I said Joe b is a testament to that okay before you know it you'll be able to play the first tape not tonight not tonight not yet
dave you want to you want to get started here with the first jam yeah i could start with the
first jam what do you got uh let me get my stack here let me get my stack it's hardly a stack it's like four tapes
that's a stack it's technically a stack of tapes i think over three is a stack yeah okay
that's a uh that's a good number what do we want to start here with here what do you think
how about uh uh high school confidential high school confidential this is for matthews yeah matthew
from telecall powers hexbreaker quartets solo project yeah am i right there yeah you're right
there um i think it's i'm guessing it's a self-release tape there's no label on it
um is this like the only thing he has out? The high school
Confidential stuff I think so
I'm pretty sure that's the only thing
Yeah he gave that to me
I guess it was last year
In a show down in Delaware
And it's pretty cool
Yeah crunchy oscillator stuff
Pretty distorted
Rough
I picked that tape up as well from him that night.
Yeah, I also got this tape.
Yeah.
It's pretty good.
Pretty good.
I'm assuming, I saw you had it rewound here, so I'm assuming that we're going to play the
track, Until There Was Rock, You Only Had God.
Yeah.
Is that the track you want to play here?
All right.
Well, let's get right into this with the first jam.
High School Confidential. High school confidential.
Here it is. I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. I'm going to go ahead and do that. I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. uh I'm going to go ahead and get back to the road. so All right.
High School Confidential from the tape Demon with a Duck's Ass.
Nice.
From Mr. Matthews.
Jinx, you owe me a cook.
I thought the name of the project was Demon with a Duck's Ass.
You know what?
I always did, too.
Because that's what's on the spine. Until tonight. the name of the project was Demon with a Dock. You know what? I always did too. And I really
did not like
that that much.
I like it. I like it a lot.
As a project name or just in general?
Yeah, why not?
He makes all his own gear, right?
I like High School Confidential better.
That's his thing, right?
He makes all the gear for
Telecall Powers.
Huge setups.
Yeah, which is a hard thing to do.
I've dabbled myself.
Because he does modular synths and stuff, right?
Yeah, yeah.
There's probably just an MP3 player
in a big box.
Yeah, that's all that is.
Just an iPod with some tracks on it?
Yeah, probably.
Nice. Some slowed down Tangerine Dream tracks.
Jumping screwed.
That's probably what he's getting at.
Alright.
I got a jam here.
I pulled this one off the shelf.
I haven't listened to this in a while.
I got this a while ago.
2005 or something like that? Yeah while ago like what 2005 or something yeah i would
say 2005 or so it's a double tape it's a split between uh door and another dude who i think was
also from new jersey called the scientific explanation of despair who for a bit there
he was he was around for a little bit for a bit there there was like a ton of shit coming out he
was constantly putting out stuff.
And it's always like, you know,
everything's always covered in spray paint.
Which I'm kind of getting fed up with, by the way.
Because I've been getting a lot of tapes
of spray paint on them, and they're not playing.
Well, they're not playing.
No, they're not playing at all.
And I have something on Pizza Night
that I kept...
And now... It's a tape on Pizza Night. I kept and now it's a tape on Pizza Night.
I forget what it is.
But I remember when I got it, it didn't play.
And I was like, I gotta get in touch and
get another copy of it. But now it's just in with
all the other tapes. I can't remember which one it is.
Who's got the time?
Who has the time?
I hate that shit, man. I got a tape in the mail
to get reviewed once.
It was spray painted.
First of all, the guy was like,
here's my tape.
The B-side's not that great, but I think the A-side's
alright.
Spray paint was stuck to the leader
in the tape, so the tape just wouldn't move.
It's just like, why would you send me...
You don't have to send me a tape right now.
You can wait until you have something
that you actually like before you send it out. No had to send it right you had to get it out you
don't know what's going on in his life personally yeah maybe you had to just ship it out yeah let
the people decide this tape comes in like a a fabric pouch that's sewn up everything's covered
in spray paint there's a little piece of paper on the inside that lets you know it's not really an A and B side as much as a
what's it, Argyle side?
Bubble side?
Maybe Brown Bear
I think is one of the sides.
Oh, it says Bubble Side written here in Sharpie.
Yeah.
This is bad.
Alright.
But I'm going to play a track off
of the side. Don't judge a book track off of the scientific you're right
these aren't books
I kind of like the little sack you got there though
it's like a little grab bag
a little grab bag with two tapes in it
I'm going to play something off the scientific
explanation of despair side
or tape
I guess that's this one
off of the tape that says
cotton candy clouds so here it is, scientific explanation of despair I guess that's this one. Off of the tape that says, Cotton Candy Clouds.
So here it is, Scientific Explanation of Despair. © transcript Emily Beynon ¶¶ Thank you. I'm too old
I'm too old
I'm too old
I'm too old
Too old
Too old Thank you. All right.
That was the scientific explanation of despair
from his split with Dore.
Now, was that released on a label, or was that self-released?
No, I think it's like a self-release thing.
Okay.
There was another dude from New Jersey, too, around the same time.
I can't remember the name, who used to put out a ton of shit,
and then you don't see the name anymore.
I think it was like Loveless Tapes or...
That was...
Yeah.
Love Letters or something like that.
Love Letters, right?
Love Letters, yeah.
Do you remember that project?
I remember that, yeah.
Another dude who kind of just disappeared, right?
I actually think that guy tattoos.
Al, right?
I don't know his name.
I don't remember his name.
All right.
Joe B., you got some you want to play?
I do.
I brought John Pyle. He's a local play? I do. I brought John Pyle.
He's a local guy.
We all know and love John Pyle.
JP.
JP.
He did a project, put out a tape a little bit ago, Oaken Tower.
Check it out.
Is that the name of the project?
That's the name of the project.
Okay.
Solo.
I remember when you got this tape Because I remember him handing it to you
And it comes in like the poly case
And you said to me you know where this is going to go
With the rest of the tapes I have in these fucking cases
I'm going to ask you right now on the spot
Have you listened to this yet
Oh yeah I've listened to it multiple times
I'm actually really into this tape
Solo
Black metal like shitty low fly Oh shit he told me he was doing some black metal
stuff i mean shitty in a good way nice yeah he was doing he said he did like live drums and
everything for that at least when he started out i don't know he did he explained to me the whole
system i can't exactly remember what it is but i think it's just a snare but then layered a couple different ways but uh it's pretty good
nice it actually looks pretty nice for um a tape that comes in a poly case which i don't
particularly enjoy yeah i don't enjoy the poly cases got a little transparency you know for the
cover and then a piece of purple paper behind it that's like the insert and uh purple tape
yeah it looks really nice he had another one that he gave me recently.
It was like Twin Lakes themed.
Or Twin Lakes.
Twin Peaks themed.
And it was like, you know, it had like the floor, the black lodge.
Oh, the zigzag of the black lodge.
Yeah, like a red tape.
What was that called?
I don't know what that, you know what, off the top of my head.
I think that was a dark hair tape.
Oh, you know what?
I think you're right.
And it had like a German title.
They all have German titles with that guy.
You put that together with his haircut,
you really got to wonder.
Alright, so what did you say this was?
Oaken Tower?
Oaken Tower.
Alright, let's play a cut from Oaken Tower.
John Pyle.
John Pyle. so
so Thank you. Thank you. The I hate my heart.
I hate my heart.
I hate my heart.
I hate my heart.
I hate my heart.
I hate my heart.
I hate my heart. hate in your heart, think in truth. Hate in your heart, think in truth. The The The The The The The The The Thank you. All right.
Oaken Tower self-release cassette.
I believe it's sold out at this point.
One-sided, right?
One-sided.
One-sided tape.
Four tracks.
There's a little curveball there.
It's one-sided on the B-side.
Yeah, I wasn't ready for that.
You don't get too many blank A-sides material on the B.
Well, you know.
Yeah.
It had to be intentional, though.
I would like to know, did he rewind the entire B-side?
It has to be, right?
But why would you ever do that?
You know what I bet happened?
I bet he went to record it and pressed record on the A-side it has to be right but why would you ever do that you know what i bet happened i bet like he went to record it and like pressed record on the a-side but like something happened and like it didn't record so he just flipped the tape over every single time you think they're all
well we don't know we don't know we only have this one to go by dave why are you jumping in
these conclusions we don't know all right that was pretty good though man i really like that
yeah he told me about it
but that's the first I heard it
first heard it
yeah I'm really into it
really into it
hope he does more stuff like that
yeah
that was good
digging it
alright Dave
you got a jam
you want to throw in here
yeah
as a matter of fact
I do
if I can find my pile
I'm so relieved
when I asked you
I thought maybe you would say no
Got a jam by
By Zephiadai
Which I believe that's how you say it
Is that how you say that?
I just say Zephida
I think it's Zephida
It's like a shark
It's some kind of aquatic animal
Or like a class
A genus
You can go to dictionary.com right now and look it up And it'll say aquatic animal. Or a class. A genus or a class.
You can go to dictionary.com right now and look it up.
And it'll say...
It'll speak the...
Let me see this case. This is nice.
Yeah, this is good. It's on a tape called
Slowing Atrium
or Atrium on House of Sun.
I can't pronounce anything.
For real.
This is all die cut.
Yeah, it's actually this company, Stumptown Printers.
Oh, yeah.
Stumptown Printers.
I've heard of them.
They do offset printing and stuff.
It's called a Brad Pack.
They do letterpress printing, Dave.
Huh?
Letterpress printing.
Oh, letterpress printing.
Okay.
Get it right.
What's the difference?
That's a whole other program.
Is that a whole other podcast? There's a big difference, Dave. There's the difference? That's a whole other program. Is that a whole other podcast?
There's a big difference, Dave.
There's a big difference.
Well, they got it wrong on the website then,
because that's what they call it on the website.
Who does?
Stumptown.
They put Offset?
They put Offset?
I'm pretty sure.
I'm going to check right now.
Well, we'll get into that after.
Check that during the tape.
This tape is too legit to quit.
Who put this out?
House of Sun.
House of Sun.
I've never heard that before.
I like the printing
on the inside.
Do you guys know
Knit Prism?
Mm-mm.
Have you heard of Knit Prism?
I don't think I've ever heard of it.
It's that dude's label.
It's out of Ontario.
This dude, Michael Powell.
And this project,
this is Jeff Astin's project
who runs Housecraft.
Yeah.
He does a few other projects.
Gainesville, dude, right?
Gainesville.
And he's in Gainesville dude right now he was
somewhere else for a bit like somewhere up in like New England okay main or
something like that but he's down I think he's originally from Gainesville I
think he's down there now yeah this uh this looks really fucking nice I've
never even heard of this tape before yeah looks good it's uh if anybody's
seen those arigato CD packs or whatever, that's like a...
The tape version of that.
Yeah, it's a tape version of that.
I would say my only complaint is that it's all black and white and a little grainy.
I'd like to see some color in it.
No, I like it because it's almost like a bluish gray.
Yeah.
You know, it's gray, but when you look at it, your eye makes a color.
I think you might want to get those glasses checked out.
You think I am?
I do have glaucoma.
You do?
Yeah,
you do.
All right,
right on.
Well,
what are we playing on with this,
Dave?
Just playing on.
Side A.
I believe it was a track that was recorded live.
I think it's in there.
We'll talk about it when we come back.
It's a track called Split Tongues Conceiving Moss.
We got a lot of, while this is playing, we got a lot of why this is playing we got a lot of uh research to do you gotta figure out how to
say xifida well what what let's let's all i say it's xifida what do you say i say xifida too what
do you say i think it's soviadine odd man out all right what are those called on top of the eyes
that's not a tilde i don't think that's like how it's normal like it
doesn't always have that it's not an umlaut that's my dog's name oh umlaut not umlaut yeah i think
it's umlaut i don't know get into the tape Thank you. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 I'm going to go ahead and turn it off. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. The The The The The I'm sorry. Thank you. All right, verdict's in.
Zephiad die or Zephiad eat.
So I think we were all wrong, right? No, I think Dave was right. You were right? Yeah, I said Zephiad die. Zephiadai So I think we were all wrong right?
No I think Dave was right
You were right?
Yeah I said Zephiadai
Zephiadai
I'm still gonna say Zephida
I just say Zephida
Yeah
And I guess
Mainly to make fun of self
This particular tape was
How is it?
Letter Press or Offset?
It's Letter Press
It's Letter Press okay
But that company
Stumptown Does It's Letterpress. But that company,
Stumptown, does... It's not all a competition, Dave.
They do both.
I'm not saying it's a competition.
Take this away from me.
That guy always puts out good stuff.
Yeah.
Is he still doing Housecraft?
I haven't seen anything from Housecraft in a bit.
Couldn't tell you.
Yeah, neither have I. Neither of you can can tell couldn't tell me or you refuse to i won't tell you let's
not get into it all right i got a tape here i want to talk about this real quick before we get
into it as always i guess but but specifically of the existence of this project.
This is a tape by some dudes,
supposedly some dudes,
who play under the name Dog Box,
which I'm going to throw this out there.
I don't think they're real people.
And here's what... I think that Dog Box is actually Matt Raidman
from Breathman Records.
Newton.
You think it's all a lie? I think it's all a lie i think it's all
a lie there's this elaborate story about like how i think him going into a store like a 7-eleven and
there was like two like metal heads there who like somehow were like he was wearing like a like
somebody was wearing like a merge bow shirt and they got talking about noise and then he went
they worked at the 7-eleven that's That's what it was. They worked there. And like their return address is like a 7-Eleven.
And like when.
I put out a dog box tape.
I got a message in the mail.
I don't think it's real people.
But I think.
You think it's Newton.
I think it's Newton.
I think it's him and maybe somebody else.
And they.
I just pulled up a flyer for a show. That says dog box. think it's newton i think it's newton i think it's him and maybe somebody else and they uh i just
pulled up a flyer for a show that says dog this is newton played dog walks played sick llama played
bad brains played
um no i don't think they really played i think that's i think that's a fraudulent flyer
all right i don't think dave you want to weigh in on this?
Nope.
Nope.
No opinion.
Fair enough.
All right.
But this is a tape.
Who put this out?
I bet you it's Breathman.
No, it's Scumbag Relations, which I haven't seen anything for that label in a bit either.
Scumbag Relations.
That's a dude.
He was from like the Midwest somewhere, wasn't he?
Like Kentucky or something.
Let me see that.
Yeah.
I don't remember. I don't remember.
I don't remember either.
Ooh.
Look on that other side.
They put the band-aid on the B side. Put the band-aid on the B side.
You want to skip this one and not play this?
Let's not play it.
Did they put the label on the front?
Label on the front, band-aid on the B side.
Because some just do the band-aid on one side.
They don't even use the label.
They just use the throwaway part.
What do you think they're doing with the label?
Throwing it away.
No, they put the label on one tape,
and then they put the band-Aid on another one.
I mean, if they do a run of 50 tapes,
25 have the label, and 25 have the Band-Aid.
Oh, so they can save on...
Yeah, so they can save, what is that, 85, 95 cents?
Awful.
Well, you throw in the ink, the toner.
Oh, the toner is expensive.
I like how the catalog numbers,
it looks like it's just typed on a typewriter on the inside of the spine.
Yeah, like on the back of the spine.
I feel like all the Scumbag Relation tapes are like that.
I don't have many, but I think they're all like that.
Maybe we'll call up Matt while this is playing
and find out if it's him or not. You know what?
I think we're going to do that.
I think we're going to call him up because
I want to hear his voice, the subtleties in his voice
when he says yes.
It's all about the cues.
There's a sweet SUV
on the cover.
It might be a screen capture
from Dr. Katz or something.
That does look like Squiggle Vision.
That's Squiggle Vision.
That is pretty nice.
All right, so I'm going to play a clip from David Zurn title on that tape.
No, it's just Dog Bucks.
Just Dog Bucks.
Dog Bucks.
Self-titled release.
And in the meantime, we're going to get to the bottom of this whole situation. All right. The I-10, I'm going to go ahead and get back to the I-10, Exit 159, I-10, I'm going to go ahead and get out of here. I-10 East, I'm going to go ahead and get back to you guys. All right.
That was a cut off the dog box tape on scumbag relations.
Never got through to Matt to find out.
But I think it's fair.
He's screening his calls.
He's screening his calls.
I think he caught wind of what we wanted to ask
and doesn't want to come clean.
But I think it's pretty safe to say that.
That's Newton.
That's Newton, yeah.
So there's...
Actually, let me start over.
That was a track off of a Newton tape
that he gives my dog box on this one.
Is he like Dr. Katz?
From Squiggle Vision?
I love Squiggle Vision.
That would be a giveaway right there.
We'll have to figure that out.
Well, I got a tape here.
What do you got there?
David Lackner tape on Peasant Magic called The Repeaters.
I'm going to play a couple, maybe two tracks
off the A side.
This is a nice
looking jam here.
A little Peasant Magic
release.
Yeah,
it's pretty nice.
Pro-dub?
Pro-dub,
screen printed,
you know,
it looks legit.
Is that screen printed?
No, no,
the tape itself.
Is that what you call it?
Like when the,
when the,
Oh, okay, when they pro-dub it. When they pro-dub and print the lettering on there that's
screen printed right yeah sure this isn't the j card isn't screen printed but no equally nice
dave i think he probably got that printed at your work i was saying what yeah he did
you were saying that you don't like listen to peasant magic tapes because these little
vellum bands he puts around them. Yeah, I'm lazy.
Well, it's a pain in the ass.
It's a whole other extra step.
It's equally as hard getting it back on.
Yeah, it's like when you're trying to get one of the paper sleeves inside a record.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
How much of a pain in the ass.
It's almost that bad.
Yeah, I agree.
It's probably going to be one of those things where he looks back at his life and wonders how much time he wasted.
Now, let me ask you guys this.
His little logo.
That's a cow.
That's what he says.
It's a cow, but I think it's a bat.
I don't understand his catalog number.
They're not in order, are they?
Joe, he's a sensitive guy.
Just say it's a cow.
It's a cow.
It's a cow with wings.
What do you have against his numbering system? I don't know i don't have anything against it i don't understand it do they go in order i don't know i don't think they go i
don't think they go why because like something will come out that's way ahead of other things
now i've dealt with this before in the past with a previous label that i didn't understand it's
because when he asked the person then that's
the cat that's the number okay but that might not come out until later yeah you gotta wait
till you get everything yeah yeah you gotta wait till you get all the materials in your hand then
i didn't understand that with with someone else who's in this room what me yeah you
let's you know i'm a very sensitive guy too
we'll talk about that later but then once it was explained to
me I it made sense okay so when he asked a black new tape it is peasant magic
105 105 105 might not come out until after 120 it was like some big like
secret code thing you know you know what about to write them all down and like
what are you trying to do he's Charlie he's into science and math so maybe some kind of like physics problem i think he's a poser though you know one well that's yeah that's we
don't need to debate that you know one problem i have uh with peasant magic is when he did when
when he put out that box set like that five cd box set the one about cats yeah but it didn't have a
name i didn't get it i didn't get that i either. If I did, I wouldn't listen to it.
Was it like mini CD-Rs?
It was the three inch ones.
I know that.
But like,
it doesn't have a name?
Well,
it's just a visual.
You know,
it's about cats.
What's it called?
What do I call it?
Cats.
Catbox.
What?
Catbox.
Catbox.
Dogbox. Yeah,
we just played Dogbox.
Oh,
whatever.
I'm not going to get into all that.
Is he done with that label now?
He's done.
I guess he's done.
No more Pezza Magic.
No more Pezza Magic.
That's a shame.
It is a shame.
It was a good label.
Dave's got to look on his face like he's happy about it.
Let's get into this Dave Blackburn thing.
Here it is. The Thank you. The Thank you. The The Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 All right. David Lackner, Peasant Magic,
called The Repeaters, two tracks off that.
Some intense cuts.
Intense cuts.
Track two is killer.
Yeah, that solo is something else, man.
Is it EVI?
EVI.
You said it was somebody else on that?
Yeah, it looks like someone named John Swanna
does the melody and improvised EBI solo on track two.
But it's intense.
Definitely intense.
You think he sells copies of that?
You know what, I'm not sure.
Probably.
Yeah, that's definitely worth picking up.
That's a hidden gem.
Hidden gem.
You didn't really hear much of that.
Definitely hidden gem.
You didn't put the vellum back on.
Ah, yeah, I'll do that later. You do that later. Put that over top of the case sometimes i do that i probably just throw it away yeah this is an extra all right dave you got something yeah i got a tape by a
spare death icon it's on uh gift tapes hand that over it's jason anderson dude that runs gift tapes it's jason anderson dude that runs gift tapes he does uh he also does harpoon pole vault
um which i don't really know i've heard the name and uh another project called two hands on knobs
that's good it's very descriptive you know what you're getting you know what you're getting
two hands on knobs this is a c30 uh It's called Survival. It came out last year.
2011.
Didn't that dude start
another label?
Jason Anderson, I'm not sure.
There's another, like a sub-label or something like that.
I'll have to
Google that.
This is awesome artwork, though. I like this.
Yeah, it's a good-looking tape.
Art by Brenna Murphy.
Brenna Murphy did some awesome artwork for this tape.
It looks really cool.
That seems like a...
Oh, that's a nice stock right there.
Yeah, it's thick.
Thick stock.
Yeah, it's really nice.
Is that scored?
Let's check it out.
Let's get it out there.
Yeah.
Nice.
Scored and everything.
I always find it odd when, like, you get a cassette tape and the J card is, like, scored
instead of just, like, hand folded.
Because, like, how many of these were even, like, made?
You know?
Like, how many copies of this exist that, like...
Actually, it says right there.
200, I think.
That's a lot.
200.
I like their numbering system.
They have, like, the little circle there, and then they write it on the inside.
It's like a pea-sized little circle.
And they handwrite what number it is.
This is number 115 out of 200.
That is tiny in there.
You're getting carpal tunnel syndrome numbering those things.
It's really small.
200 seems like a lot.
Yeah.
I do like this artwork a lot.
It's almost like on the inside, it's like an alien language.
Yeah, that's what you're saying.
Going on with these little...
There's some chevrons in there.
Little gifs.
Yeah.
Glyphs?
I think it's a glyph.
Like a high-rope glyph.
Not a gif.
Yeah, I think you're right.
Yeah.
Yeah, this is pretty cool stuff, though.
Kind of beady, kind of video game-esque in ways oh um i know nothing about this quite as
uh like not really like necessarily like a bitty sounding but you know it sounds like something
it could be like a backdrop for a video game you let me just throw this in there at any point in
first put it on the a side i got it queued up on the a side. All right. It's a track called Zombie Level. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 All right.
Spare death icon.
That was pretty good.
Zombie level off the tape survival.
Short but sweet.
Pretty good jam.
All around a really good tape.
I highly recommend trying to pick up.
That was the dude who runs gift tapes?
Yeah.
All right, Haley, you got something?
Yeah, I got a seasonal one.
A seasonal one?
With Easter around the corner.
Oh, that's nice.
Festive.
Yeah, I got a festive one here.
I got a tape by Egg Sack.
Which is on Moon Mist.
Which is like the new...
The dude Dan,
dude Dan who used to do Excitebike tapes
is now doing Moon Mist,
started from scratch.
One thing I can say, though,
I don't enjoy...
J-Card.
You want to see the J-Card?
Yeah, it's got like... Yeah, like the gold. Yeah, the don't enjoy. J-Card. You want to see the J-Card? Yeah, it's got, like, nice gold paper.
Yeah, like the gold.
Yeah, the gold is nice.
The gold's really nice.
It's, uh, it's real thick.
Oh, no, so it's that gold paper with black printing?
Yeah, that's what it looks like.
Ooh.
Um, but, like, you get, like, the, uh, you know, the recycle.
I got a Lifebeats cassette from 1999.
All right.
Metacom Incorporated.
Yeah, I'm not into that. No yeah i'm not into that no i'm
not into that you know buy some fucking tapes yeah right it's like yeah it's like it's cool
that like the library threw these away and you were able to grab them but you can buy some tapes
it works for certain aesthetics i mean if the whole like aesthetic is like you know junky
you know like right but don't do it don't do a cover that nice
right right and give me a label it's a weird juxtaposition i just can't my brain can't deal
with that yet a little too post-modern a little too post-modern throw a label or something over
top of the uh yeah you know don't keep like the the original i got the track listing from the
life beats tape here how am i supposed to live love shouldn't love should have brought you home how do i live
without you a lot of love stuff going on because i think the tape is called celebrate love celebrate
it looks like it is i'd like to play a code off that this is it may it may cut in this is some
really nice paper though it's like reflective gold like a thick stock and yeah it's like black
ink yeah he used a lot of those towards the end of
Excitebike. There was like an Uneven Universe
tape that was on that same kind of stock.
And I feel like some of
the other tapes
in this batch were also
used that.
But yeah, Egg Sack is
the Tiger
Hatchery dudes and Dan.
I'm not sure if it's like a male collab
or if they were like together and jamming.
But
that I can't tell you.
Let's check it out.
Let's check it out.
Here is a clip
from the egg sack tape
called Lose It. so so so so so
so so so
um The train is now moving towards the station. so one two three so
so so
so so
uh so so
uh so
so The The so
so Thank you. All right.
That was a clip from the egg sack tape,
Lose It on Moon Mist.
Pretty lo-fi.
Dave, you looked it up.
That's a, it was a mail collaboration.
It's a mail collaboration, yeah.
Mail collab.
Not sure how many copies were made
or if it's still available,
but I'm sure you can find it somewhere.
Just look online.
I had the website up up but I closed it.
Tabs, Dave. It's pretty easy.
We don't have to do it for you.
Don't be lazy, people.
Tabs out, people.
What's the name
for a tabs out head?
Someone who listens to tabs out.
I think Mike,
Joe, and Dave.
I'm not sure if anyone else is listening well i gotta cut all right you want to go next yeah what do you got here let's play
a little bit off the uh tab of maniacs tab of maniacs emerald still away collab that was put
out on hansen under pressure love the love that title by the way under pressure it's pretty good so good that's uh I guess that makes that makes Dillaway Bowie then huh he is Bowie he is the
Bowie of noise okay yeah we'll coin that right now we'll coin that right now but anyway not too
much to talk about with the tape because your standard Hanson's I noticed it was like a um
all of my Hanson tapes are white and you got the,
uh,
you know,
your standard clear tape,
black,
uh,
whatchamacallit liner thing.
Are your guys' copy of this tape?
Like is the actual tape way longer than the material is on your,
on your copies?
Oh,
I don't remember.
Mine is like way longer than the material.
The blank.
Yeah.
Like when I got it,
I was like, Holy shit, this tape is so long.
And then I was like, you know, a quarter of the length of the actual spool had actual stuff on it.
No, I don't remember.
Minor gripe.
Minor gripe.
Well, you know.
But I was a little, I thought I was in for like, you know, a long haul.
In for a treat.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What did you like, take mushrooms and stuff like that beforehand?
And then like five minutes later, I was like, what? That's it?
This is done. Fogged up my living room.
Got my
laser show going on.
Is this, what number is this?
Hanson what? 186
in a storied catalog.
Getting up there.
This came out a while ago.
This did come out a while ago. It's like five years old, isn't it? Probably. It was probably around there. This came out a while ago, didn't it? This did come out a while ago. It's like five years old, isn't it?
Probably.
It's probably around there.
I picked this up at...
I remember grabbing this at No Fun Fest in like 2007 or 8.
7 or 8, yeah.
Something like that.
And that's like...
Jeez, that was like five years ago, isn't it?
Yeah.
All right.
So we're going to get into this jam.
We're dying.
Is what...
Everyone's slowly dying. The subtext of that is
that we're all dying.
Well, we are all dying.
From the moment you're born, you start dying.
Just think about it for a minute.
Think about that while we listen to
a cut off of Emeralds
and Dilloway
under pressure on Hanson. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 so
so Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. I'm sorry. THE END © BF-WATCH TV 2021 All right, Emerald Dillaway, Under Pressure.
Classic cut.
Classic cut.
I'm sure you can still get this, because I think he keeps all this stuff still in print at all times, right?
Yeah, I think he keeps it.
That's what I enjoy about that.
Yeah, I picked that up probably, I'm going to say, like two years ago. Okay, cool. Yeah, I think he keeps it. That's what I enjoy about that. Yeah, I picked that up probably, like, I'm going to say, like, two years ago.
Okay, cool.
Yeah, I think you can still get that.
You can get that.
Yeah.
That was a long time ago, but you guys got it, what, like, four years before that, probably.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
I've had, well, yeah, yeah, I've had it for a little while.
Definitely an older one, but it's really good.
Hanson Records, look it up.
Good jams.
Dang it.
What do you got, Dave? gonna play something yeah I was gonna do a cut from Pine Smoke Lodge tape on a sweat lodge
guru awesome label sweat lodge number one number one state they ever did this tape is called um el herrera i think it is is that spanish i'm guessing so yeah um two mentions
of the word lodge huh what's that two mentions of the word lodge in there you don't get that very
often or is it sweat it's pine appropriate first release then, isn't it?
Isn't it?
I've got to say, for this release,
I typically don't like the perforated paper J cards.
But for this tape, I think it actually works pretty good.
It's perforated?
Let me see that.
Yeah.
I think it actually works pretty good there.
It works with the blue.
I see this perforated and I just want to tear it apart.
Don't rip that.
Oh, it's perforated all the way around too
That's odd
But it looks good though
I think it looks good
Sweat Lodge Guru is a pretty awesome label
They started back in like
I think 2010
Dude
Mitch
Putnam
Out of Sioux City, Iowa
He writes for OMG Vinyl Mitch Putnam at a Sioux City, Iowa.
He writes for OMG Vinyl.
That's a pretty good...
I was just waiting for Joby to say Seth Putnam.
Oh, I was going to make a Vladimir Putnam.
Putin, Putin!
It all runs together in the second syllable.
You were passing up an anal gun reference.
I was passing up an AC reference
To do a
Russian reference
Pine Smoke Lodge
Duo from Portland, Maine
Matt McKeever
And Hillary Dickerson
Not together anymore are they?
Don't know
They started putting stuff out in 2009.
I don't know if they put out anything this year or not.
But yeah, Swellodge Guru is a pretty awesome,
pretty prolific label for only being around for a full year.
They've already got like 45 releases all pro-dub.
They've got like three or four vinyl releases
under their belt now.
I know I have stuff on this label.
I can't think what is off the top of my head.
What else did they put out?
I think both you and I got that first batch.
So you probably got that Sweat Lodge Guru
and Sparkling White Pressure was in that first batch.
Sarton Ring of Bell.
Yeah. A couple others that I can't think of, but batch. Sarton Ring of Bell. Yeah.
A couple others that I can't think of, but yeah.
No, definitely a good label.
All right, I see you got side two rewound all the way here.
What do you like, side two or side B?
You like A, B, or one and two?
I like A and B.
I like A and B.
I'm an A and B guy myself.
Unanimous.
Unanimous.
There it is, folks.
A and B.
So if you're gonna
If you're gonna make a B-side
make it a B-side.
Guns and Roses used to do sides
G and R.
Oh that's awesome.
Well they were ahead of their time.
You know why they did that Dave? Because of guns
and roses.
The G and the R The G and the R.
G and the R.
See what they were doing there?
I thought it was like
gay and racist.
Gay and racist. Are we still recording?
Yeah.

That was a piece from Pine Smoke Lodge's tape,
El Herrera.
That's why Lodge Guru, number one.
Numero uno.
Numero uno.
Cut from the B-side.
Peaceful jam.
Yeah, yeah.
Mike, what's that called again?
It's a tape.
A cassette?
Cassette tape, yeah.
Cassette tape.
What's that, a cassette?
You put musics on it.
First track on the B-side, Eternal Ground Imagery.
Might still be able to grab this on the webs.
Run of a hundred.
I'm sure it's laying around.
Yeah, someone's got it.
For sure.
So I think we're about ready to wrap it up here.
I think we got one more cut.
Joe B., you want to take us out?
Yeah, yeah.
I got a cut off this burning StarCore double C30 on Drone Disco.
Oh, look at that.
It's like a time capsule.
It is like a time capsule.
So I'm going to play a cut off the
seaside.
We'll go with that.
I do not like how they
label these tapes.
No, just with the sticker.
It's like an Office Max sticker.
Yeah, I'm into it.
I think it all goes together.
I really like the little insert.
You know, it's just a photocopied piece of paper,
but it looks really nice.
I like the case.
Yeah, I dig this.
See, Spencer, yeah, always has his shirt tucked in.
He always has his shirt tucked in, and it's like a dress shirt with like a tie or something.
Always tucked in.
You know, he dresses fancy.
He's a fancy fellow.
Plays the violin.
It's a fancy instrument.
Drone Disco number 93.
You know, if you gave me a violin, I wouldn't know what to do with it.
I wouldn't know what to do with that thing.
No.
Where are the rehab photos?
The liner notes say there's rehab photos by
Nicky Sneakers.
Nicky Sneakers, that's not a real person.
Nicky Sneakers.
Rehab, like rehabilitation?
And there's cake shop photos.
Well, that might be... No, no.
Those are the places.
Like the venues.
This is all live stuff.
So one was at rehab.
One was at the cake shop
Oh okay that makes more sense
Not at a literal cake shop
Or a literal
Rehabilitation facility
Right
You don't know that
Well
I like this case that it comes in
It's a sturdy case
I could drop that off a 10 story building Oh you could put an egg inside of this And that it comes in. It's a sturdy case. I could drop that off a 10-story building.
Oh, you could put an egg inside of this
and drop it off a building
and then go home and make breakfast
because that ain't breaking.
Another Easter reference for you.
Another egg reference.
I'm in the mood.
Mike likes a good theme.
I like a good theme.
I do like a good theme.
In fact, I would like to do a themed episode
of Tabs at One Time. Yeah, I think that's a good theme. I do like a good theme. In fact, I would like to do a themed episode of Tabs at One Time.
Yeah, I think that's a good idea.
I think it would be fun.
In fact, if anybody has...
I say we ask people, if you follow us on Facebook,
and there's about 40 of you that do,
maybe submit some themes that you think would be good.
Like, for example, like red tapes.
You know, it's like a basic example.
Just a regular theme.
And then we'll put all the themes in a hat and we'll draw one.
Or like things that fly.
We'll announce the theme for the next.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
And that would be the next.
That would be the next podcast.
That would be the next podcast.
That would be the next theme.
That sounds like a good time.
Yeah.
All right, well, put that out there.
You know it's going to be a bummer when no one sends anything
When no one sends us anything on Bookface
We'll hit us up on Bookface
Tabs out
Give us your suggestions
Yeah I think that's a good idea
I think we should do that
I think we should get themes
People should send in the themes
And then the next episode we'll do a theme
But for right now we'll just stick with playing this,
what are we on, Side C of the Burning Star Corps?
Side C, Burning Star Corps, it's a live New York City 0708.
0708, double C30.
And thanks for listening to episode three.
Oh, yeah, I guess that's the last cut.
Until next time.
Until next time.
Hopefully we'll, got a website in the works
Hopefully we'll get that launched soon
Open for tabsout.com
As long as it's not some preview porn site
I'm sure it's already a porn site
We might have to go for.net or.co
Hopefully we'll get that up and running soon
And we'll have all the episodes up
And we'll have a tape
news section.
What's that for?
If you've got a tape label... It's for news on
tapes. Yeah, pretty much. News on tapes.
You've got a tape label.
Upcoming releases and things like that?
Upcoming releases. Sort of like an animal
side.
Don't mention the competition.
I'm into that.
Let's get into this cut
and then we'll see you next time.
