Starting point is 00:01:40 What number? Five, five. So it's the same. Yeah, it's crazy, right crazy right huh the only number not divisible by itself really the only one the only one that's that's crazy right yeah you're glad i'm told you're glad i'm i told you that not really now you got that information two of us tonight just two just two back to our roots our humble roots i think we can do it dave i think we can do it too i keep i gotta say though with joe b balan and no you know no one able to come in i have a lot more
Starting point is 00:02:10 space for my computer now yeah my laptop really has room to breathe and that ain't a bad thing not at all no the sound effects working i think the sound effects are working okay was that a test or was that a test okay That was a test. Okay. I didn't know. I'm going to delete those in post, so you're not going to hear them. Oh. So, yeah, we didn't. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:02:30 But they do work. I already started off tonight by burning the shit out of my wrist. Yeah. Did you throw that lighter out yet? No. I have a lighter that I... Mike has a lighter that just burns by itself. I have a lighter.
Starting point is 00:02:41 I refer to it as the danger lighter. And every once in a while it may if i hold up to the mic i'll do it it'll just go so just make that noise and if there's a spark near it and uh well earlier i lit it right like that and i stopped lighting it but it kept lighting and i didn't notice that and uh what i did was i just placed it just placed it down like you would normally with something that you were holding you would place it down and i went about my business and then a little bit later i reached over and wouldn't you know that sucker had been burning the whole time and burned the shit out of the table and burned the shit out of my arm but it could have that
Starting point is 00:03:16 could have been a lot worse so i consider that a win you could have uh i'm up one tonight already you could have been in an ambulance right now. Well, you couldn't because your feet would stick out the back. They couldn't close the door. Imagine Dave on a stretcher. They'd have to get the extra long one. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:38 We're stretching as far as we can stretch. Your head's just hanging off, rubbing on the ground on one side and your feet are rubbing on the other side. All right. Just me and you tonight. I think we can do it. I think we can get comfortable.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Go ahead and pop those pants off. Get comfy. Just the two of us. There it is. You want to start, or do you want me to start? You can go ahead and start. All right. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:04:02 All right. I know what I'm going to play first. Oh, yeah? Yeah. I ordered this comp a few weeks ago from a label called, I guess you pronounce it Hord, H-A-O-R-D. Okay. And the comp is called Hord's Buncha.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Hord's Buncha? Yeah. And check out the artwork on that, first of all. It's tight. Here's how I found out about this. this little goblin climbing in the window there open it up because she unfolds so orange milk records which we know started a series they're doing a series of splits the first one is like a four-way but it's it's called the wait for it orange milk split series what very descriptive and one of the projects on that is called drut is it drut pd is that what's on there dave they're on the
Starting point is 00:04:51 track listing look at the last track uh i got it written down somewhere it's probably written down lots of everything this isn't druddy well i'll just i'll just tell you drud pd is on that orange milk thing oh i see now yep so pd number 17 thanks dave so i went like this is a really good track who's drud pd so i went and i found this label put out a drud pd tumbleweave split cassette which is you can't find it i would like to get it drud pd that's the town of drud's police department right yeah that is yeah uh crime free since 1972 completely completely crime free it's just cops sir it's just that's all it is of course if it was just cops they're probably a shitload of crime yeah but uh so anyway they they also put out a comp
Starting point is 00:05:39 this comp hordes buncha which i picked up it's got like uh got a shitload of people on it and it's pretty incredible. Came out back in July in addition of 100. Hand me that, Dave. I'm going to play the first two cuts off of this. I'd like to know who it is climbing in the window there. It's a goblin of some sorts. The first two tracks by Tumbleweave,
Starting point is 00:05:59 a track called Buzzard, and then Slop Wop, with a track called Zop Plinko. I love it already. I hope that'sith rankin coming home from work actually on the front there what's that supposed to mean maybe he dresses as a ghoul for a living all right yeah maybe he dresses good pay yeah getting the union you can't just walk in the front door when you're dressed like that. Starting point is 00:13:39 They took it off. Don't do anything. Is that anything like wop-slop? What's that, Dave? That sounds racist speaking of racist we couldn't get john pile to come in tonight he was going to come in but no joke i think he's going to the um the poconos to help out that eric fring guy get away oh yeah yeah i think that's what he's doing well they're teach their own you know yeah

Starting point is 00:14:45 rusty something the owner's definitely not rusty play tape dave what do you got gross biker bar. Yeah. You couldn't think of anything? 45-year-old. Rusty something. The owner's definitely not rusty. Play tape, Dave. What do you got? Not to put any pressure on you. I don't know. Now you don't know. I'm going to play...
Starting point is 00:14:56 Why don't we play this new Matthew Akers, John? I'm into that. Is that even out yet? I think it is, yeah. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Self-released. Oh, that's a purple shell. Yeah, nice... Actually, is, yeah. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Self-released.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Oh, that's a purple shell. Yeah, nice. Actually, no, Mike. Oh, that's, never mind. Navy blue. You're full of shit. This is blue. It's a deep.
Starting point is 00:15:12 It's a deep color. This is blue as my toenail. I still haven't seen that thing. You will never see it. Is it really blue? No, it's not blue. Well, sometimes it's blue. I'll have to change my whole.
Starting point is 00:15:21 It changes color. Don't make me change my entire mental image. What is it? I want to know what you think it's blue. I'll have to change my whole... It changes color. Don't make me change my entire mental image. What is it? I want to know what you think it looks like. It's like, well, a wet piece of roast beef kind of like layered over... Like, which ball in billiards is yellow? The number one?
Starting point is 00:15:36 It's like a piece of wet roast beef over top of the number one ball. It's a little bit of yellow poking through. How close am I? We're going to play... This tape's called Bairn. Bairn. Bairn. It's like the aspirin, kind of, with an N at the end.
Starting point is 00:15:54 It's like the aspirin. What, Tylenol? Bairn. Bairn. I don't even know if that's aspirin, actually. I just know it's some kind of over-the-counter medication. I believe he self-released this. It says M-O-0-0-2 on the back.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Maybe he meant M-A for Matthew Akers and he messed up. He was like, yeah, whatever. Just leave it. I love this cover, though. Is that from, like, what is that from? That kid standing in the mist. It looks like something that would be in the opening of X-Files. Yeah, this is definitely, definitely like it's got a horror
Starting point is 00:16:26 vibe all around right yeah the sounds the sights yeah i'm really into this tape oh i really like the imprinting on that shell the arrows it says side one and silver with arrows pointing either way oh that's nice i like it's pretty i already know i like this tape because i've already listened to it but you want to listen to it again yeah more we're gonna listen i'll listen to it with you dave okay sounds good mike and then if anybody wants to join in we'll just put this online cool on the internet cool all right you like the net give me a call tell me what you think check out my website by the way i would like to know if anybody uh tried my egg recipe oh i did oh did you oh no shit i was going to call you yeah did you like it so just to um

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. damn a few acres that was so tight that was about half of the a side off the bern cassette
Starting point is 00:24:47 self-release i believe i think you've recorded that over this summer it's that inside that j card yeah and if it's out it just came out because i know when we got it which was what maybe two weeks ago three weeks ago i don't think it was out at that time. Officially released. It hasn't dropped. It wasn't on the iTunes yet. It's on his Bandcamp, and it looks like people have bought it. So it's at least for sale.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Doing a little investigative work over there, huh? Uh-huh. Snooping around. Snooping around, checking up on me. Speaking of me, maybe I should play a tape. If you want. Just don't play too much. Don't't play how about i play one tape right now and then more later okay so one now then the rest later sure okay which one though i know i want to play i got a few things here but i think after
Starting point is 00:25:42 that one i know what i want to go into let me just find oh here it is by the ranch dressing that's not it where'd i put my tapes dave i deserved it i deserved it played a few more times because i still can't find it uh you want me to just go again no i can here it is right here it was under a pipe cleaner this is that's why i couldn't say it's a huge pipe cleaner it was a whole stack of them i'm making a a hand puppet out of them so it was a lot uh the radio shock romance is the death of intellect cassette on a uh a label called sweet 309 oh nice yeah i got this dude uh tim who does that project tiger village label nice yeah he sent us how many did he send us did he send us enough i like i got copies
Starting point is 00:26:34 of the whole batch i don't care how many copies of tapes people you uh gracious people send us but sweet 309 i have a it's a mandatory minimum of three copies each release. Or we don't even talk about them. Hmm. You don't like that rule? Just for him. Just for him. Why just for him?
Starting point is 00:26:54 I don't know. You like him that much? No, I just picked it out of the air. I don't like him at all. No, this is a tight label. He just put out, what, three tapes. What were they? Radio Shock. Splice Girls and Giant Claw. Splice Girls and Giant He just put out, what, three tapes. What were they? Radio Shock.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Splice Girls and Giant Claw. Splice Girls and Giant Claw. Yes, they all came out. Um, he's got this, uh, I don't, I wish I looked up who did the artwork. I'll look it up while we play it. Uh, sick, sick collage artwork going on, but on the spines of all of them. Really pops. I like how there's a little rectangle in the top corner with his little logo in it and
Starting point is 00:27:24 little tiny type of what the tape is. Yeah, that's nice. And that little rectangle matches the shell color. That's a nice touch. I'm excited to see what he does if he uses a clear tape. I'm on the edge of my seat thinking about it, Dave. And this chair is in bad condition. So he better do it quick.
Starting point is 00:27:44 I think it'll be pretty uneventful it'll just be on whatever artwork is is there there won't be a background there won't be nothing nothing it'll just be just the type yep it'll just be the type on top of the artwork i'm gonna lose that on my shelf day four that's gone i have no clue where it is yeah all i can think about is how bad my wrist feels right now well are you thinking about that too to hit no i'm just thinking your roast beef toe i'm just thinking about um what you did with that lighter oh it's still right there it's not oh i seriously thought you're gonna say it's oh it's lit right now i'm gonna turn around it's gonna be a huge fire behind
Starting point is 00:28:21 me no i'm not gonna i want to put in in a cup of water first before I throw it away. Why? Just to be safe. What's that going to do? Well, Dave, it's going to disable the internal ions. It's going to reroute the power generators and it won't be able to light on fire anymore and burn my shit up. Wait, are you putting it in a cup of water and then putting the cup of water in the trash
Starting point is 00:28:43 or are you just dunking it in water for a second then i'm putting the cup of water in a container of bleach and then i'm gonna put the container of bleach in a garbage bag this is it i don't want to get ebola from this later dave all right there's a lot of steps here all right you that sounds like you wouldn't understand that sounds like just make sure you do it okay i'll just make sure all right radio shock romance is the death of intellect romance is the death of intellect yeah that was it i said it right uh mp lockwood his project he's on well he's on tour right now but well well here's the thing we can say he's on tour but tomorrow the 26th of october is the last day of the tour
Starting point is 00:29:24 okay so he's just finishing so if you're the 26th of October, is the last day of the tour. Okay, so he's just finishing up the tour. If you listen to this before show o'clock, and let's see where he's playing. On the 26th, he's playing at Bard College. So go there. Walk around and listen for Radio Shocks. All right, let's play the opening cut of this sucker, Side A. I've got to rewind to the beginning. You're all prepared.
Starting point is 00:29:46 I always am. What's the name of this track? Random Seed from Radio Shock. That sounds gross. It sounds gross. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. that was zany all broken and weird i know right a lot of uh squirmy wormies trying to get out of the some squiggly wigglies you said it was raymond scott raymond c sc. Scott III that did artwork yeah for all the new tapes the Giant Claw the Splice Girls and that one
Starting point is 00:34:30 Radio Radio Shock not Radio Shack not the store Google not the store that's not what I meant Google won't
Starting point is 00:34:39 straight up won't let you Google Radio Shock right away it says like I know what you I know you didn't mean that you meant Radio Shack the right away it says like i know what i know you didn't mean you meant radio shack the store that's somehow still open yeah i don't understand i
Starting point is 00:34:50 don't get it either well the batteries everybody needs batteries batteries and cell phones i just thought of something uh what if i got something i want sweet through and i need to do i want them to release a batch of tapes that are all white shells, right? You with me? Uh-huh. With different color imprinting on the shell. And the rectangles on the spine are all white with that color imprinting as the text. Hmm. I want that for one.
Starting point is 00:35:16 Can I get that? I can has that, please? Nope. That's an official. Give me... You make a tape. Dave, do you have like a notarization stamp sound effect i want to get that a tabs out request and then get that notarized nope no new
Starting point is 00:35:31 ones you got you got anything give me no i gotta wait until the lease runs out on these before we buy new ones well give me the sound like i'm gonna do like like that but give me a real one i'll do a just make it anything not you it anything. Whoopish. Not you, the thing. Whoopish. All right, what tape do you want to play? I'm just, everything is falling everywhere. You're a mess. Move this ranch dressing. Why is there so much ranch dressing here?
Starting point is 00:35:55 Joby doesn't show up for one week, and you bring in the ranch. I'm going to play this. I didn't hit. Hey, listen. If it was up to me, we wouldn't have any. I'm going to play this tape that came out on a label called Geographic North. Geographic North. Got it. That is in the mailbag.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Bobby Power? Is that the guy's name who does this label? I don't know. It's obviously not his real name because no one's name is Bobby Power. Bobby Power. Bobby Power. You're in a comic book if you're bobby power or like or a prince video you're like um yeah bobby power is like a little kid in a comic book yeah who grows up to be robert power power man yeah power that's a good one power man power man could beat superman he's just got so much power
Starting point is 00:36:45 no yeah that's the thing he doesn't have that much he's a moderate amount of power he's just a normal guy normal guy all right uh during the day he's normal starbucks barista robert power but at night he watches shit on netflix it needs some popcorn some butter flavored popcorn he's power man that's his power he could put more butter on popcorn and don't tell me you wouldn't want that power don't imagine okay so you hold on so you could either be you right now a guy who can't put extra butter on popcorn or a dude who just so happens he can stick his finger in popcorn and swirl it about, and then all of a sudden it's more buttery, more flavorful.
Starting point is 00:37:31 I think that's gross. But you don't get any on you. You have complete control over it. It's like you can open. How about this? You get surgery done. So the tip of your middle finger, you open it up, and you can squeeze butter out of it onto your whatever you
Starting point is 00:37:46 want butter on toast and then you just close it back up i just feel like i'm the only person that's going to be able to appreciate that and everybody else is going to be like i don't want any butter out of your finger oh no no no no no it is butter because the more butter you eat the more it makes yeah but nobody's gonna believe you just gonna be like you need to get that checked out i think that's infected well i tried once if joe was here and we were all like let's all try it i just i'd like give me some of your butter dave i'll just get some out of the kitchen what's what tape you you wouldn't even use it here now you're a cone hero cone uh the tape's called fallen angels and this is a looker let me see it oh i like, I like what I'm seeing already. Is that... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:25 Turn off the light. Does that cassette shell glow in the dark? Uh, I don't think it does. I think it's just really green. Well, for a second in the illumination of your laptop, I thought it was glowing in the dark. I really like the paper that this is printed on. It's like a sparkly purple. Hand it over.
Starting point is 00:38:41 And the inside of the J card is like full artwork. And the credits are on the front which i like i believe oh and this green shell this uh slimer green shell yeah with this lilac sparkly paper is it's gorgeous it's a pretty one it is pretty the flowers on the inside is nice yeah really nice like uh you know, black and white image. Well, not black and white because it's on purple. Yeah. I think Geographic North, all of their tapes look like this, right?
Starting point is 00:39:11 With the scattered text on the cover. So it says Geographic North cassette, Fallen Angels, A1, all the track listings. Everything's on the cover. Yeah, I think Matthew Sage did a tape on that label recently. Yeah, I feel like it was like a brown cover. I can't remember what it looks like. Well, it looks like this. So you got to cue it up to something?
Starting point is 00:39:30 Yeah, I'm going to play a track off the A side. I don't think I've ever seen this green color before. It's like the third or fourth track, one of those. Off of what side? I know you said it. The A side. Screw side. The A side.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Screw you. I'll put this in. This tape. On Geographic North. Who is it again? It says right there. I don't know if I said it right. HeroCon? Yeah. HeroCon. HeroCon?
Starting point is 00:40:00 HeroCon. Appropriate. Highly appropriate. Alright, on. Achmal. Achwell. Appropriate. Highly appropriate. All right. On this tape on Geographic North, here it is. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. here i come damn girl you were bringing some tight shit tonight dave well that matthew agar's tape was tight that tape was tight i like the little uh when it was good we may have we may have talked over a little bit but there's little laser beams at the end there there's tiny little ones like tiny little laser beams that was good one you can floss with those laser beams hero geographic get it it's like
Starting point is 00:45:37 tiny little laser beams that fit between your teeth we all got it dave is that tape still available when did that come out what month did that come out? What month did that come out? I don't know when it came out. What's the average selling price on Discogs? I just made my first Discogs purchase the other day. Yeah? How'd it feel? Felt good.
Starting point is 00:45:55 Yeah? Yeah, felt all right. I had no feelings to it. It totally... It's changed a whole lot since you started. It was pretty bad, actually. It didn't go well uh the guy ripped me off i was really confused because it said something about it was priced
Starting point is 00:46:10 in canadian canadian dollars but it was shipping from the united states and i don't know i got i've gotten some pretty good stuff on discogs i put shit in my basket before and then i never went through with it i um i put something on my wish list like your what there's like a wish list that you can get for when something for like are you when you're seven years old for like santa claus yep when you when there's something that you want that's on that's not on discogs for sale you can you know find an album just listed or whatever just the information and add it to your wishlist and you'll get an email every time somebody puts it up for sale.
Starting point is 00:46:48 Yeah. Oh, that's, that's pretty tight. It is tight, but I'm, I've never like actually followed through with buying something that was on my wishlist.
Starting point is 00:46:56 And I've got stuff from like three years ago. Like I didn't get an email every time that there's like that Emerald, that Emerald solar bridge LP. I've really wanted that and I couldn't find it. every time i get an email it's more expensive oh really well dave obviously it's like 60 bucks now you uh you know a wish doesn't mean to you what it means to a lot of people a wish dave you wish you could have it ah i wish i could have it i'd do anything for it you can email about it you're like i don't need that bad yeah 15 bucks nah i don't care about Dave, you wish you could have it. Ah, I wish I could have it. I'd do anything for it. You get an email about it, and you're like,
Starting point is 00:47:26 yeah, I don't need it that bad. Yeah. 15 bucks? Nah. I don't care about stuff that much. No. Stuff is like, and things. Don't get me started on things.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Whose turn is it? Especially things. Especially things. Yeah, it's your turn. All right, I'm going to play a tape then. Oh, yeah? I'm going to play, hmm, let me see. We just had a little,
Starting point is 00:47:44 didn't have me want to my shoulders oh look that's careful my that's what it sounded like so let's i know what i want to play fuck i don't know where i put it dave let me ask you a question when i couldn't find the last tape where was it don't do it to me again i know what is it downstairs it might be downstairs are you serious? Okay, you know what? I'll play that my next turn. I'll play one that's right in front of me. That sounds like a good idea. I just can't help
Starting point is 00:48:12 thinking that it's around here somewhere. Okay, I'm going to play this tape to split between terror-ish and textbook punk. It's a split called No Heresy and it's got this drawing i like that guy a little yeah a little like ape guy and it's a little he's putting up his finger like wait a
Starting point is 00:48:32 second wait i got something to say and then what's he saying he's saying no heresy and i like on the inside i'll get to the cassette itself later there's this little green card in here oh with a face on it and on the back a bunch it's like wallpapered with the word heresy with that like no line going through it what is that called it's gotta have a name the circle with the line through it yeah i don't does have a name i don't know if it has a name i i feel like it does i bet it it does. We just don't know what it is. And then on the inside, it just says, split tape of 2014 by Terrorish and Textbook Punk. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:49:16 And I can't find shit about this on internet. I was on internet. It's just called the no symbol. The no symbol? The no symbol. Also known as a prohibition sign there you go that circle backslash symbol prohibitions it's got a lot of names we get the point interdictory circle or universal no universal yeah i like universal no yeah i'm gonna start calling it that okay anyway i couldn't find shit about this online so it's out obviously it says
Starting point is 00:49:46 2014 and that's what year is and the tape itself it's on a halloween trick-or-treat cassette and they it looks like it looks like they cut out very sloppily stickers with their names on it look how bad one's not even completely on the shelf. Oh, Jesus Christ. It's like sticking off the top. Yeah, peel that back and try again. It's a little flap. Yeah, that's right there for you to peel off and try again.
Starting point is 00:50:11 No, that's how this little flap, that's how I carry it around. I carry it around with a little sticker off the top, like a tiny little purse. You know what? No, I'm going to fold it on top right now. All right, that's done with. The joke's over. I'm going to play something off the terror side,
Starting point is 00:50:25 off of the split here with Textbook Punk on perhaps some label. Who knows? Jumping right in the middle here. And we're off. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. change it up honest zappy zap terrorish textbook punk split you decided to play a little bit of both yeah we played a little bit of the terrorish side
Starting point is 00:54:40 and then it kind of went into this long tone that we listened to for like three minutes and Dave's like it's still going and I was like we'll cut it off in the beginning we'll flip it we'll play a little bit the textbook punk side so that's what we did yeah but you don't hear us do that because we can actually edit it so you don't hear that part well dave i wouldn't say we edit it we i don't get the royal we ah ah is it my turn uh no you just went that was my that was me yeah it seemed so long ago i know lots of happens since then i mean probably because we flipped the tape yeah should we try to open the hotline see if anyone calls yeah why not tweet now. Gonna open the hotline. Give us a call.
Starting point is 00:55:33 Maybe it will work. What's the number? 480 tabs out. Gonna open the hotline. Give us a call. Maybe it will work. 480 tabs out. Tweet. Okay. let's see if anyone calls
Starting point is 00:55:46 it's very serious what we're doing right now um i think we should i think actually let's not be so serious tonight dave let's loosen the collars let the ties down a little bit oh i like to i like to do that i like to get real comfy i like to... Get real comfy. I like to goof. You know? Yeah, let's just be goofs tonight, Dave. I like... Let's get wild. Dave, let's go dancing. I'm going to play this tape that came out recently on a giant fern. A giant fern.
Starting point is 00:56:15 You see that new Between Two Ferns with Brad Pitt? No, I didn't see it yet. Yeah, it's pretty good. Yeah, I heard it was pretty funny. Not the best, but really good. That's exactly what I heard, actually. Not the best, but pretty funny. Okay okay so don't go to the consensus yeah and read anything about it no uh micro melancholy micro melancholy yeah half of the uh micro micro fluorescence
Starting point is 00:56:39 duo that we did that uh tape for oh no shit shit. I didn't know that. Yep. Micro. Micro Melancholy. Tape's called Ensemble Faux Pas. This, uh, what else came out in this batch? Um, Hidden Persuaders. And? And a one that I can't pronounce.
Starting point is 00:56:59 Did we play one already? No. I feel like I remember talking about the artwork for them. Yeah, I don't think we talked about it on the air, though. No? No, I don't I remember talking about the artwork for them. Yeah. I don't think we talked about it on the air, though. No? No, I don't think so. Just a together type thing? Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:57:14 Yeah, because the new batch is like, it's all... Each tape, there's three different variants of each artwork for each tape. Oh, there's three different variants for each tape? I didn't know that. And like, if you get on, like, I don't know which one we got. I think they're all done by the same person. That's tight. It's like a white J card and the artwork's kind of cropped out in a rectangle. So you get the white border around it.
Starting point is 00:57:34 Yeah, it looks tight. Real clean. Tight artwork, too. We should look up, see who did it. Yeah, this is like a collage of like a spiral staircase. Now there's two other ones for that same tape. You see what I'm getting at? You got the pattern.
Starting point is 00:57:48 I like that. I will say I really do like these. I like how they look. I like how they look. But the wooden boxes were pretty sweet. I can imagine not wanting to do those every fucking time.
Starting point is 00:58:01 He was hand making those boxes. Those nails are tiny. I bet he has real small hands real small like a baby doll yeah like oh what was that um that saturday night live sketch with the the women who sang and the last one had like little arms do you remember that i don't i forget what do you remember that andy dick skit with the guy with one really short arm and one giant arm? What do you mean Andy Dick skit? Not on the Andy Dick show. He had his own show? Yeah, on MTV.
Starting point is 00:58:31 You never saw that? No, I didn't know that. Yeah, there was this one skit that he did where he played a guy that had one really short arm and one really long arm. Like one that like drug on the floor and one that just kind of like stuck out like this. Could any of them make butter? You throw making butter into that mix, all of a sudden that situation's not so bad put my shoes on mike see i love when you put those shoes on your fingers do that all the time dave it's kind of fun dave's got a tiny well how big or how small
Starting point is 00:58:58 would you say those shoes are these are like a size but they're like what are they like an inch long maybe yeah an inch long and like a quarter inch wide inch long plastic dress shoes that dave puts on his fingers and he's doing a little dance on a tape he's doing a little dance on the tape we're gonna play he's blessing it oh he just kicked up to get comfy yeah let those dogs breathe hand me that tape all right this is the guy who did the intro tonight, Dave,
Starting point is 00:59:26 by the way. Yeah. Oh, and you know what? I just realized if you look on the back of the J card there, the person that did the artwork
Starting point is 00:59:33 was the other person in the batch. Osherm? Oh, yeah. Osherm, perhaps. So he did all of them. Yeah. Tight.
Starting point is 00:59:41 I'm assuming. Yeah, he did. Let's just say that. All right. Micro Yeah. Tight. I'm assuming. Yeah, he did. Let's just say that. All right. Micro Melancholy. Ensemble Faux Pas. Pretty new one on a giant fern. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:59:55 Here it is. Here it is. Here we go. I think someone's calling. © transcript Emily Beynon Thank you. I don't know. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. micro melancholy I like that one taking it down a little bit. Yeah, man. Cruising in the midnight hour.
Starting point is 01:06:47 Bringing in the midnight hour. This is Stinky Dave. Stinky Dave's midnight hour power hour. Gonna put the anchor down. Float here for a little bit. Keep going. Gonna crack open a few Coronas. Sit back.
Starting point is 01:07:04 Do a line out back see what I catch just put out the net see what there is in the sea 1205 here Stinky Dave's Power of Our Hour Power I love really late night radio shows where there's a lot of dead air
Starting point is 01:07:21 there's something about that that's like I love listening to that like real late at night there's a lot of dead air. There's something about that that's like, I love listening to that. Like real late at night, there's a bunch of space between when they talk. Because there's someone sleeping in the studio and they don't want to wake them up. They're just taking their time. The weather guy's taking a nap.
Starting point is 01:07:39 There's no rush. They got all night. They keep looking at him. He's on the couch squirming. Hold on a second all right he was just rolling over that was a sweet tape he's got i don't know if i mentioned this yet but uh he's got a new one on lakuhu as well oh yeah micro melancholy yeah called surface shift it's a c36 i got a couple good ones from lahoo recently. Was that in the latest batch?
Starting point is 01:08:06 Yeah. You got that four-way, right? I got that four-way split. Who was the four-way? Thomas Grenadus is on it. And that's all I remember. I am just a pupil. Jesse Summers and Triton.
Starting point is 01:08:24 Uh-huh. Those three names I don't know B-Sides killer God damn B-Sides are good I love the B-Sides Thomas Grennan does a little cool in the gang sample 1210 here in the stinky days stinky corner stay with us all night
Starting point is 01:08:42 playing some of your favorites from cassette tapes there's real loud hiss though like when they stop talking what are you listening to huh what do you listen to late at night you got the cb radio out in bed under the covers what are you what are you doing it was also taping that locker who batch with winter ritual and flesh coffin which is funny because this label's from Canada, like Montreal. That is funny. Moving on. And Winter Ritual lives in Delaware, the same state as us, but we had to get one from Canada
Starting point is 01:09:17 sent down rather than Max just giving it to us. Because Max doesn't come out. When was the last time you saw that guy? I want to say when it was cold out at the last bike project spot yeah it's been a while yeah it's and then and i think he played that that was the only reason he came when have you seen when have you seen winter ritual when he's not played a show max i want to see you actually you know what i see him all the time drive by my work but he never stops and says he never stops well that doesn't dave that does not count well i'm sitting out front in my van i should clarify i'm in my work van
Starting point is 01:09:49 sitting out front like parked out front and he'll drive by and he'll look right at me and he'll just keep going huh i saw him once since he's moved back no twice but once he stopped by here at like seven in the morning to drop off spirit throne tapes like that's really a shit yeah he knocked yeah that's weird all outside with his like tight like black denim on and his black hat it's like seven in the morning i gotta what are you doing here that early no but i'd like to see max more he just falls asleep really early are we talking about him we're not playing his tape oh because we just played the micro melancholy tape he put out a tape on lockahoo he was on i'm with you i see what's in the dots i see i i can do it i can i can keep up 12 15 the midnight hour all right you're talking too fast slow it down
Starting point is 01:10:38 when am i what 12 15 the midnight hour. That? Too fast? Yeah. Slow it down? An idea at a time. Let it breathe. What are you talking about? When you're doing that character, you got to really... No, I mean, give me an example.
Starting point is 01:10:56 12.15. Quarter past 12. Yeah, you build the anxiety. Yeah, I like it. All right, Dave, you want to hear my dogs barking? I'm going to play this Doberman tape. quarter past 12 yeah you you build the anxiety yeah yeah i like it all right dave you wanna hear my dogs barking i'm gonna play this doberman tape you know yeah you know anything about doberman the dog no the project i saw a dog that was scared of his own farts on the internet no you didn't yeah i did that's too funny yeah um oh i i got an easter egg about this
Starting point is 01:11:22 tape while we're at it well anyway before we get there doberman new tape on castle bravo i think this is the person that runs that label they put out that zern tape or cern it was like c-z-e-r-n they should do a split with pincher anyway this tape it just has this picture of this doberman on the cover but if you but and it's on the way that's, and it's on like, and it's on like, you know, like, like what is that,
Starting point is 01:11:47 like vellum paper, like a, you know, a clear paper. And if you look at it from the inside, look at how the spools of the tape look like the dog's body.
Starting point is 01:11:55 That's pretty good. Isn't that good? Yeah. It's like the one spool is his neck and the other one is his butt and then the tape
Starting point is 01:12:01 coming out is like his tail. Yeah. It's pretty good. That's a nice Easter egg, right? Yeah, a nice little nice little uh nice little touch all right well let's get in here with this new one just came out doberman either self-titled or it's like the name of the or the number of the release. CB004. C24. Play something off the A side.
Starting point is 01:12:28 1220. You cut out a little bit there, Mike. You want to repeat that? Playing a little bit off the A side, you said? Playing a little bit off the A side. Okay. 1215 in the midnight hour. Still 1215?
Starting point is 01:12:44 Doberman. We're stretching time Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm not sure if I can do it. This is the end of the journey Between this and me And I'll be Here And I'll be Here And I'll be Thank you. The The I'm not sure if I can do it. Sting! Sting! Sting! Sting! Sting!
Starting point is 01:18:30 Sting! Sting! Sting! Sting! Sting! Sting! Sting! Sting! Sting! Thank you. Doberman.
Starting point is 01:19:42 That got heavy. I know, man. That tape is intense. I liked it. Doberman has another tape on Castle I know, man. That tape is intense. I liked it. Doberman has another tape on Castle Bravo. I like what I heard. Castle Bravo has, like, what? A VHS and a cassette.
Starting point is 01:19:56 And then two other cassettes. Zurn and two Dobermans. Huh. And I'd say buy them all if you can. All really good. Collect them all. Collect them all. Or maybe this is Doberman. Huh. And I'd say buy them all if you can. All really good. Collect them all. Collect them all. Or maybe this is Doberman.
Starting point is 01:20:08 Him and Power Man are a duo. Maybe it's Doberman. Doobieman. Ha ha. Ha ha. And I also recommend when you get this tape to, while it's still rewound, to hold up. Look at it from the back. There's some light.
Starting point is 01:20:25 And imagine the spools are part of the dog's body. Yeah, and the tail is like a piece of poop. It's a good laugh. You got to chuckle. Dave got to chuckle. The tape's like a piece of poop. We all get it, Dave. Poop jokes.
Starting point is 01:20:39 I don't sink that low. I do, all the time. All right, what do you got? Like poop in the toilet. I like your fake laugh. It's really good. Susan Balmer. Susan Balmer.
Starting point is 01:20:54 Yeah. Who's Susan Balmer? I don't know. She is from Brighton in UK. Oh. And this tape came out on. I don't know why I gave it that response. Oh, interesting. Brighton. Oh. And this tape came out on... I don't know why I gave it that response. Oh, UK, huh?
Starting point is 01:21:06 Interesting. Interesting. Hmm. All right, this story unfolds. Oh, Brighton. British Invasion. That's a place. Hmm, all right.
Starting point is 01:21:15 This tape's called Signum. It came out on Beer on the Rug. Oh. Very recently. Oh, yeah? Did it come out when that Looks Realistic tape came out? I believe so okay all right i believe you i'll trust you this is beer on the rug number 25 the tape is called

Let me take everything. I want the cover. I want the case. I want it all. Here, let me give you the tape back and put it back together. Assemble it for me and give it to me like I was just getting it in the mail. Jesus Christ. This is worse than before. That's not how you get your tapes in the mail? That's usually how
Starting point is 01:21:58 they come to me. That's how they come to you. Come. I dig... I always dig clear shells with like text on both sides because when you look at it throw it it looks really weird yeah makes you feel dyslexic looks trippy man back in my college days man back in the dorm oh careful having flashbacks all right well we're gonna play here something off the a side yes we're gonna play the first two cuts off the a side i already said their names and not'm not saying them again.
Starting point is 01:22:26 Susan Balmer, you said? Yes. Beer on the rug, you say? Yes. A cassette tape, you say? Uh-huh. We're going to... 12.17 in the midnight hour.

Starting point is 01:29:12 Interesting. Thanks. I would say it is more like hanging out inside of a piece of grass. Okay, yeah. That makes more sense, actually. Alright, my turn. Right right dave are we going clockwise or counterclockwise right now back and forth i'm gonna grab let's you know it's just me and you it's a nice intimate moment this is like our first episode our very first episode do you
Starting point is 01:29:41 remember our very first episode i remember our very first we were in a different room we were back there i'm gesturing like over my shoulder we're back there out the window we were holding our microphones because we didn't have mic stands just you oh i you had a mic stand i had this one you stone cold motherfucker dave had a mic stand i was holding my microphone which made it very easy to look through tapes yeah and then you punched a hole on a cardboard box and tried to stick the microphone inside of that try did it that worked out well had a really shitty tape deck oh yeah right time our whole setup was pretty amateur not like the professional rig we got right now yeah we've really come a long way but back then we we we we we what we what we did dave
Starting point is 01:30:29 we back then what we did was play our own tapes that we just had in our collection right yeah that was it because i mean we didn't have a mailbag yet right now pretty much all we play is mailbag everything we play we get for the most part 98 of what Of what we play? Yeah. I'm going to go old school. Out of the personal archives, huh? I'm going to grab something off the shelf. I'm going to grab this Journey Into Pain four cassette box set RRR records.

In-N-Out Burger and get some Coke? I don't know who that character was. In-N-Out Burger. To some guy that wanted some soda? Wait, what were you talking about?

Starting point is 01:37:42 Speaking of spooky. He lost the magic of getting me spooked, Dave. Speaking of spooky and speaking earlier of Giant Claw. Okay. Keith Rankin is doing a little week-long tour right now, right? Yes. Giant Claw? You're correct.
Starting point is 01:37:56 Coming to Delaware. Yes. Do you know where he's playing? Let's see. Today's the 20, what will it be? The 26, right? When this is live on air? On the net? Where is he playing
Starting point is 01:38:08 on the 26th? I can tell you in just a second. See, if I didn't have the information right at hand, you'd play that stupid sound effect. Which one? The one that makes me sound dumb. Bong. Bong. Something like that. He will be playing in Troy, New York
Starting point is 01:38:24 on the 26th. Then where? On the 26th with Matt Wellens. And then the 27th in Worcester, Massachusetts. Then where? He'll be playing in Boston. Then where? Queens, New York. Then where?

Starting point is 01:38:47 our friend Jimmy Orlando debut in their... Floral Plasm, what is it called? Yeah. They have a new tape out. It's really good. Yeah, I skimmed through it. I didn't want to ruin it because I want to listen to it when I get the tape. Actual tape. But it sounded good. I hear that. Yeah. I jammed a little bit of it.
Starting point is 01:39:03 I enjoyed it. But I as well want to wait for the tape. It looks nice, too. And tonight, actually, he's playing in Cleveland with Tiger Village and Radio Shock, which would be a fucking tight show. That's a sweet 309 showcase. Yeah. I wish I could be there to bring up the whole thing about the rectangles in the corner. I'm sure you could talk their ear off about all kinds of ideas.
Starting point is 01:39:24 Listen, guys, sit down. I'll order order a nice pizza pie and we'll talk this over all right your turn dave yes all right what do you got i'm gonna play 12 20 dave coming in to play a tape i don't know which one of these I want to play. Starting point is 01:39:55 Yeah. Spring break. Go wild. Yeah. Pop that top off, girl. No, that's not what I was talking about. Dave, don't be gross. Don't be a schmohawk, Dave.
Starting point is 01:40:05 Come on. You don't want to pop your top off, Mike? What do you got there? Bug gas? What do you got? Bug gas? Bus gas. Like when an ant farts?

Starting point is 01:41:30 That's nice, right? Who did that drawing on the inside? I don't know. I'm wondering if it's beautiful. Yeah, I think it's a drawing and maybe like is that three people like from the top? Three people from the top. Like sitting in a circle?
Starting point is 01:41:47 Yeah, maybe. I can't figure it out. It kind of looks like it might be. But I really like some of the track names on this. That's a beautiful looking tape. Yeah, it's really nice. It's a gorgeous looker. I like that it's all black and white except for this yellow stripe on the spine on the front.
Starting point is 01:42:02 I like that too, Dave. I'm glad you like that because I like that too. That's why this works. And I really like some of the track names give me one uh greek lightning okay i like that give me another night slugs i like that too give me another 2020 vision quest whoa these are all really good give me another uh desert swagger that's good that's all right yeah don't give it to me like that then i'm automatically going in well i brought you down a little bit to bring you back up sad hill oh is that all of them that's not all of them i'm just giving you some highlights awake awake awake and then give me another first scum first serve that go out on that one that's a
Starting point is 01:42:42 good one all right well what are you going to play? I'm going to play maybe a track or two off the B side. I don't know. Just hand it over because I really want to feel it. I know you really want to feel it. I'm dying to know how thick that stock is. Put your hands away. They only reach so far. Ooh, I like.
Starting point is 01:42:58 I don't know the name of the tracks that I'm going to play because it's not like divided up on the A side and the B side in the track list. This paper is like sticky on the inside. Yeah, it's got an divided up this on the a side and the track list this paper is like sticky on the inside yeah it's got an interesting texture a nice finish yeah i really like this all right bug gas yep no i'm joking bus gas right dave yeah start at the b side maybe a track or two but not too much just let's do just the right amount. Okay.
Starting point is 01:43:26 All right. The The The The Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. © BF-WATCH TV 2021 Thank you. I'm sorry. mmm mmm little bug gas bringing us into the 1am squirting that hot finger butter all over this place I don't think finger butter is a good power, Mike.
Starting point is 01:49:06 I didn't say it was a good power. I said it'd be nice in that and be able to do. I don't know. I think I'd rather just get up and get some butter. What if you're at a place that doesn't have butter, Dave? It's a butterless place. That's okay, I guess. And you got popcorn and you're like,
Starting point is 01:49:23 well, I guess I'll just eat it like this. Like sandpaper. I usually don't put butter on my popcorn anyway. I just put a little bit of salt and a spray or two of olive oil. And that's pretty good. I don't like where you're going. Bus gas. In life.
Starting point is 01:49:36 Off the tape. Snake Hymns on Spring Break Tapes came out not that long ago. But I think I just read somewhere that is now sold out. Snooze you lose jerk. But you can probably get it through a distro or something. That happens from time to time in this crazy world. Go down to Kmart. They got some copies
Starting point is 01:49:56 I bet. Yeah go down to Walmart in the big bin with all the tapes. They still got those? Yeah I've been to Walmart a long time. Oh yeah? Who played that you so now it's what are we going are we going clockwise or counterclockwise back and forth back and forth so it's my turn hmm what do i want to play i know i want to play all right let's juice up this thing dave let me ask you a question have you heard are you aware with a label called Astral Spirits? Nope.
Starting point is 01:50:31 Astral Spirits is like a sub-label type deal from Monophonous Press, I believe it's called. And they just put out two tapes. This tape by Ice Pick, which we're going to play, and a tape by John Dykeman. And Ice Pick is... It's Nate Woolley, Chris Corsano, and... I can't say the name. In...
Starting point is 01:50:55 In... In... In... In... I gave up. In... Ingebright. Ingebright. Ingebright. Ingebright. I hate Kerflotten.
Starting point is 01:51:07 What are you typing over there, Dave? I'm just getting some editing done. That's all. Are we recording right now? Yeah. Okay. I'm just letting you struggle over there with the pronunciation. Check out the cover of this Icepick tape.
Starting point is 01:51:23 The other tape looks like this, too. It's like a tan background with uh like a you know a little doodle on the front in red and what is that a tree like a cross-section of a tree yeah um all these tapes they're numbered i like how they're numbered on the on the front like on the cover of the j card look at the cover dave you see how it says on the bottom blank yeah ours didn't get numbered i don't like that i hate that i hate when we get shit that's supposed to be numbered and what is this like an extra copy yep press copy i don't like it but i like whoa warpy warpy
Starting point is 01:51:57 something's got dave excited jesus christ dave something really melded your finger butter what do you got there just looking at this warped pattern on the... It looks tight, doesn't it? On the shell of this tape. It's like... I can't say it. Yeah, it looks tight, doesn't it? It looks really nice.
Starting point is 01:52:17 This whole thing looks... The whole package is... Yeah, look on the spine, how half of it's black and half of it's red. Not quite half and half, but I see what you're saying. I'm giving you a gist here. But the rest of it's black and half of it's red. Not quite half and half, but I see what you're saying. Don't give me a gist here. But the rest of it's all tan.
Starting point is 01:52:28 You can't really see it. I can't really describe it. What's that, Cooper Black? Yeah, sure. I don't like that font. You're a font man. I don't like that font. It's like, ing.
Starting point is 01:52:40 But this is nice. I agree. It's nice. i have one criticism one one a big criticism or a small criticism it's a small criticism all right lay it on me but i feel like it would tie it together a little bit better if you um chose one font and stuck with it you got cooper black on the front you got some other font on the side. Some kind of just straight sans-serif-y looking thing on the spine. And then you've got like a bolder sans-serif font on the other side.
Starting point is 01:53:18 All of the tapes look like that. They all have the same spine. They all have the same... Like the other tape is also has that final on the cover is that just a batch thing you know they only have the two tapes out so i don't know oh it's only two tapes okay well still come on dave you get what you get so if you do it wrong a hundred times it becomes right yeah isn't there like a jazz player that said if you play the wrong notes just got me isn't there like a famous player that said if you play the wrong note... This just got me.
Starting point is 01:53:47 Isn't there like a famous jazz musician? Yeah, who said that? Musician. I can't remember. Said if you play the wrong note... I don't know why you keep doing that. I'm bringing it back from earlier. Remember when I was doing it before? I do remember that.
Starting point is 01:54:01 It's called a recall in the biz. That's cool. Are you going to play this ice pick tape? I just won't say what I want to do what were you talking go ahead what were you saying we're going to play this ice pick tape it's called Hexen on Astral Spirits the first release on the label
Starting point is 01:54:19 here we go. ¶¶ ¶¶ Thank you. Oh, man. ¦ ¶¶ Hey! ice pick ice pick is my mic on nice pick ice pick Ice pick. Ice pick. Is my mic on? Ice pick, ice pick. Ice pick. Astral Spirits number one. That's a good fucking tape, man. Yeah, I like that.
Starting point is 01:59:16 You with me? Oh, shit. Dave, Dave, Dave. Easy, bug. Easy. I'm going easy. I'm going easy. Going easy.
Starting point is 01:59:23 He's going in easy What are we doing now? They used to call me Ice Pick Back in my Grad school days Oh yeah? That was my nickname The Ice Pick
Starting point is 01:59:32 The Ice Pick? Yeah Out in the club scene Oh I thought it was Because you picked your noobs All the time Called you the Ice Pick Please
Starting point is 01:59:40 What do you got Dave? Strategy That's what I got. Oh, I know what this is. This is on Field Hymns, correct? Yes. I knew that. This is a tape called Cerebral Hut,
Starting point is 01:59:53 aka Off the Grid. Completely off the grid. I couldn't go off the grid. I keep thinking I'm looking at Eddie Van Halen's guitar here with the stripes all over it. It's nice. But it's some kind of geometric pattern taken off the front cover. That looks pretty.
Starting point is 02:00:11 Maybe. What is that, the sun in the middle? Is that the? It's like a. Space. It's a perfect circle. It is a perfect circle. Is this a perfect circle tape, the band?
Starting point is 02:00:21 Uh-huh. Oh, that's a nice strategy you're taking this is this came out uh not that long ago with one other tape do you remember what the other tape was uh i was just looking at the at the site oh at what site at the field hymns site and what did it say it said welcome to field hymns records you're in our guest book uh it came out with sad horse sat all purple on purple makes purple that's true that's the name of that tape i ain't gonna argue with that i really like the cover of the sad horse tape it's like two hand-drawn figures and there's a mountain it's kind of you kind of have to see it you should have just said that i really
Starting point is 02:01:04 like this cover but you kind of have to see it all should have just said that I really like this cover but you kind of have to see it alright well let's play something off this strategy cassette Cerebral Hut aka Off The Grid I really do like this artwork did a dude do it? doesn't look like his normal stuff
Starting point is 02:01:20 the dude who does this label art by Tiny little hammers yep yeah my tiny little hammers did the artwork for that gold rush comp that came out this year nice and uh does all the it's the person i forget his name who runs field hymns an excellent excellent label oh yeah so let's tip top to be tippy tippy top yeah let me hear you say tippy tippy tippy top dave tippy tippy almost tippy tip say it again tippyippy, tippy top. Let me hear you say tippy, tippy, tippy top, Dave. Tippy, tippy, tippy. Say it again?
Starting point is 02:01:49 Tippy, tippy, tippy top. Wait, do it one more time. Tippy, tippy, tippy top. Alright, do it one more time. Tippy, tippy, tippy top. Alright. Alright, just do it one more time for me. Tippy, tippy, tippy top. Alright, you got it? Nah, I can't do it one more time for me. Tippy, tippy, tippy top.
Starting point is 02:02:06 Alright, you got it? Nah, I can't do it. Tippy, tippy, tippy. I can't do it. Alright, well that's a strategy. Three-brill hut, aka off the grid. New one on field hymns. 75 out of 75. You got the last one, Dave.
Starting point is 02:02:18 You should be proud of yourself. Suckers, suckers. Fuck you, suckers. Pwned I'm going to go ahead and do that. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. Oh Thank you. Strategy. That was nice. I got a strategy for you. What is it? Go straight up the hill.
Starting point is 02:06:49 What? Is that like a saying? Yeah. Go straight up the hill. Yeah. Hey, you. Yeah. Go straight up the hill.
Starting point is 02:06:58 Go fart in a windstorm. Fart in a windstorm? Yeah. I never understood that. My uncle used to say that to me all the time. Go fart in a windstorm. Why would understood that my uncle used to say that to me all the time go fart in a windstorm why would he say that to you all the time that was like it was like an insult go fart in a windstorm why was your uncle constantly insulting you because he was like 13 and i was like you know seven oh okay all right that makes more sense go fart in the wind but why is that an insult that doesn't seem like a bad idea blow it away
Starting point is 02:07:25 yeah so it'd be a good thing for you yeah it seems like if you want to fart you wait for a nice gale to pick up right yeah you should google it as a gale a gale's on a breeze gale's like a strong wind right wind's kicking up a gale wind's kicking up it's not, the breeze isn't actually a gale. The wind isn't actually the gale. The wind is kicking up the gale. How many gales are in a chevron? There's four gales in a chevron. I think a chevron is a pattern. One chevron in a parsec, in five parsecs, right? Right. That was a tight tape. I think you can still get that from field hymns. All right, my turn. I'm torn. I think you can still get that from Fieldhams. Alright, my turn. I'm torn. I don't understand words.
Starting point is 02:08:10 Alright. I'm going to play... I'm torn if I want to play something off of the shelf. Like in half? What? Like you're torn in half? Yes. If I want to play another one off the shelf or grab this guy right here that came in the mail.
Starting point is 02:08:24 I'll go for this guy in the mail because I really like this tape. You got to go to the hospital? Severed and said. Severed plus said. Crying in Dreams cassette on Pop Nihil. Pop Nihil number 35. We got this a couple weeks ago. Oh, damn.
Starting point is 02:08:40 Look at that purple. Like them purple shells. It's like some bonkers candy. I could go for some candy right now. Some grape. It looks like a grape Laffy Taffy. It's like if you squeeze it, juice would come out of it. It's like a grape Laffy Taffy.
Starting point is 02:08:54 I like the picture of the person on the inside. I could go for some Laffy Taffy right now. I don't think I've ever had Laffy Taffy. No? No. It's pretty good. Yeah? It's taffy Taffy. No? No. It's pretty good. Yeah? It's taffy, but it's funny.
Starting point is 02:09:08 I like the layout of these Pop Nihil cassettes. Like, they have the template. Show it to me, Dave. The template's nice. With the text up front. There's like a square image on the corner with a real bold text on top. Real bold text on the spine. The label logo on the top corner it's tight they sent us this and they sent us a comp what was the comp called they always crop the artwork like that under that big thick line
Starting point is 02:09:34 i think so yeah that's real tight it is pretty tight the comp was called obsidian and this uh severed and said is on that comp with a shitload of other people labeled from jacksonville florida florida a lot of crazy shit goes on in florida you ever noticed that dave oh yeah i follow uh those two people on twitter oh yeah what two florida man and florida woman oh yeah yeah yeah actually i read something on facebook today somebody posted a uh a story about like this woman who set her roommate on fire because he threw her spaghetti and meatballs away. And I'm looking at her and I'm thinking, that'd be so funny if she was from Florida.
Starting point is 02:10:12 And then it said in the description, a woman in Florida. And I was like, what is going on down there? The picture of the spaghetti and meatballs it showed, though, was really good looking. It had fresh rosemary sprinkled on top it was just like some stock image that they pulled for the yeah exactly because you know her spaghetti meatballs was like oh it was spaghetti mac and cheese with yeah spaghettis
Starting point is 02:10:33 with hot dogs cut up in it right and out of the can yeah exactly yeah with a plastic spoon or plastic fork so the sauce is dripping through wasn't there a girl named crystal methani who blew up her car with a bazooka or something like that in florida that sounds right that sounds that sounds believable all right severed and said why are we oh because the label's from jacksonville florida uh-huh and that's where a lot of crazy stuff goes on you ever noticed that dave i have tippy tippy tippy tippy top here we go severed plus ed from crying in dreams Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Severed and said. Severed head. Severed and said from... Sever severed and said from severed head crying the crying dreams cassette on pop head hear that it's like a little severed head that's like a little bug gas
Starting point is 02:16:35 um i think you get that hit for like five bucks or something like that from that label that's a good fucking tape man yeah when it gets really low and it's growling at you for a while. It pops right back in. Oh, yeah. Like you pop open the cap of an old Coca-Cola bottle. I like it. On the machine. You ever use those soda machines, Dave? They have the glass bottles come out and they have the little bottle opener on them? No.
Starting point is 02:16:59 My parents used to go to this place where they had auctions and stuff. You know, like, give me a tang, give me a tang, give me a tang. Yeah, like a real auction. they had like one of those old-fashioned soda machines there nice it was tight they don't make them like that anymore no you know obama fuck him ebola isis uh ebola obama um benghazi fast and furious the whole the whole deal it's a problem where's my wood i want my country back wasn't that a joke from last time where's my wood uh yeah something about obama stealing wood and taking it to china or something yeah whatever it was it's obviously
Starting point is 02:17:39 pretty funny i kind of remember something where's mycom. Yeah, and it's a picture. You go there and it's a picture of Obama taking your wood to China. Why was he taking the wood? Because he steals stuff. Wood, though? Just wood? Oh, yeah, he takes everything.
Starting point is 02:17:55 Huh. That's funny. He wants you to rely on him. Okay. For everything. This joke's getting too deep. Play tape, Dave. All right all right i'm gonna play this tape and biden don't get me started on biden by a project called glow glow glow glow i think
Starting point is 02:18:15 that's how you say it it's glou space glou it's a duo of gretchen June and Arjun Mandirata. Say that five times fast. Arjun Mandirata. Ach now, ach well. I think that was borderline racist. No. No? No. Context. Well, ask John Pyle. He'll know.
Starting point is 02:18:40 Uh. Context. But this is on a label called god damn it full spectrum full spectrum records have we played anything from these guys before I believe that Andrew Weathers Seth Christman's collab
Starting point is 02:19:03 okay I don't remember that one. You don't remember that one? I believe Ian was here and he played that. Okay. That's a good tape, though. I like the Full Spectrum Records logo. I probably said that when we played that last tape. Yeah, it's tight.
Starting point is 02:19:17 It's tight. Like the F that wraps around to the S. You're a font man, Dave, right? Yeah. You like that treatment? Yeah. You like that treatment? I like that font.
Starting point is 02:19:23 I'm not really a font man, actually. Daveave you're a big font guy you like what happened there i really like the artwork for this it's just like are there font magazines i'm sure there are i'll subscribe typography magazines i'm doing font monthly i really like the artwork i want a font pricing guide how much fonts are worth how much they're worth or how much you pay for them how much they're fucking expensive man some of them can be really expensive go to font squirrel download a nut with 20 fonts in it yeah my font squirrel jokes on here before haven't we is it real font squirrel is a site but downloading the nut isn't a real thing i thought that part was real i thought it was like
Starting point is 02:20:05 a dot nut that's a good one dave i like it can someone make a file that's a dot nut all right what do you got there lulu and when you when you zip it up it's burying the nut bury the nut unbury the nut yeah yeah all right okay but i was gonna say i really like the artwork on this tape it's just like a gradient pink rectangle and then inside is another gradient another gradient pink square yeah that looks tight when you unfold like that when it's just the cover you're not really getting that much no but when you unfold it bam it looks yeah it looks really nice this looks pretty oh and i like because the outside is like you know like you said the pink radiance in the inside it's mostly white with just a little square the pink gradient and pink text yeah looks good like i like how this one looks i have not heard this yet did you hand me
Starting point is 02:21:01 the tape uh i have the cover i don't have the tape there you go well look at that shell we're gonna play the b-side that's a nice color red yeah is that red imprint on there too it's like no it's red on red it's nice i like a little bit off the b-side trish lost her mind when she got that like this isn't gonna work, she keeps her cool. The last person always lost their mind. I wish I remembered their name. All right. Sam. Lulu. It was Samantha.
Starting point is 02:21:30 What was this called again? Glue Glue. G-L-U-G-L-O-U-G-L-O-U. Him, her, hum. Cassette. Uh-huh. On full spectrum. Go on.
Starting point is 02:21:41 Go on. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon Thank you. © transcript Emily Beynon That tape kept skipping, Mike. That was good, man. There's nothing wrong with it. That was chill. Yeah, it was real good, right? That was chill, man. I enjoyed it. What was it called?
Starting point is 02:28:20 Glow Glow. Glow Glow. Glow Glow. It's serious. That was the wrong one. I'm going to cut that out because that was the wrong one. All right, try again. Glow Glow glow. Glow glow. It's serious. I'm going to cut that out because that was the wrong one. Try again. Glow glow. Ah now, ah well.
Starting point is 02:28:32 See, I thought you were going to do like boing boing. The two of them. It's serious. A little montage. All right. You ready to end episode 55? Is that what it was? was yeah because it's the only number it's the only number that if you take both numbers and add them it equals 10 that's true no other number and it's also the only number where it's the same forwards and
Starting point is 02:28:56 backwards and upside and counterclockwise that's true that is true all right you ready uh when you turn and it's the only number that Sammy Hagar can't drive. Is that true? Yeah, he can't drive 55. Is that the only number, though? That's the only one. He goes from 54 right to 56. How else does he get to 56?
Starting point is 02:29:16 He goes over 55. He gets to 54, goes right over 55, and gets to 56. There has to be a moment in time. Mike, you don't understand physics. Where he's in time. Mike, you don't understand physics. Where he's driving 55. Whatever. You don't understand physics. I think he hits.
Starting point is 02:29:28 And you definitely don't understand Sammy Hagar. I think he hits a ramp at 54 and he flies 55. And then when he hits the ground, he's going 56. Or maybe he falls every time he gets to 54. He falls out of his car. Like a little marble madness, the guy that falls off the end. And then somebody that's going 56 picks him up. Okay, yeah, there you go.
Starting point is 02:29:52 All right, or he gets to 54 and then his wife kicks him out of the car and she drives 55 and then somebody picks him up. Or how about he just takes over at 56 every time? He has a driver that drives up to 55 zero to 55 no he can only not drive 55 so he's forced to drive all the other ones yes huh this is getting thicker and thicker yeah how about we just um end the podcast then
Starting point is 02:30:19 what if we just stopped didn't go out on anything i think dave can we make a pact right now sure i think it's appropriate that it's just me and you because since me and you were the ones who started this podcast i think talking about its and its demise should be just between me and you okay on our last episode when we decided to call it quits uh-huh last episode no tapes that's coming up soon right no tapes no tapes on That's coming up soon, right? No tapes. No tapes on the last episode? It'll just be a clip show.
Starting point is 02:30:50 We bring tapes. And then we'll go to jail. We bring tapes and we have them here, but we don't play any tapes. Last show, all right? Fair enough? Or we act like we're going to play a tape, but we never get to the first one. We just keep getting sidetracked.
Starting point is 02:31:03 I like that. What if we just never got to this one and we did that bit right now no because i want to play something off this yeah i think you should definitely play something off this because she's a looker she is and uh it's a good one it's the ohio volume one double cassette comp that was just a sound design recording and sk sk david russell and wyatt hallen's labels uh i didn't realize it was a joint joint effort joint effort let's dissect it here first of all you have really it's in one of those the double tall narokos yes which i love the big ones the tall guys the nice tall j card in here on this. Nice silkscreen cover.
Starting point is 02:31:46 Is that silkscreen, Dave? That's silkscreen, right? It feels like it is. It feels like it is and it has like a quality. Yeah. Of being silkscreen. Double sided. Then you got a little vellum card in here with all the artists, the track listings. And the tapes are split between
Starting point is 02:32:01 the sides are Cleveland, Dayton, Columbus, and other regions. And each side has like four people on it. So like Collapsed Ark, Witch Beam, Plague Mother, Black Fire for Cleveland. Let's see, Columbus is... Who's on Columbus? What is that name? Evicsor?
Starting point is 02:32:24 Mm-hmm. John also Bennett, Mark Van van fleet and ryan jewel the other regions who's on this from sandusky c kirkendall c kirkendall from overland navarre is it really kirkendall kirkendall it's just one back to back that's back into duo with c kirkendall and kirkendale it's just one back to back that's back into duo with c kirkendall and c kirkendale um from mansfield interstates etc and from kent mothcock and then from this this side we're going to play the dayton side it's we're a developer who which we're going to play shredded nerve being an inbreeder and i like like how each one gives the artist's full name, which is cool because I found out that
Starting point is 02:33:08 developer's middle name is Harley, Matthew Harley Reese. Oh, yeah? Yeah. I'm going to start calling him Harley. But it gives you where they were born, the year they were born, and where they were born. Oh, nice. Which I think is pretty neat. And you don't have this, Dave.
Starting point is 02:33:23 Oh, this isn't your copy but on this copy does not have it the one downstairs does the Noroco case is like laser etched with the state of Ohio yeah my copy actually came in the mail today and I did get a laser etching
Starting point is 02:33:39 so I was pretty stoked on that I think Dave Russell works at like Hallmark and has for whatever reason access to think David also works at Hallmark and has, for whatever reason, access to a laser engraver. At Hallmark? What do they laser engrave at Hallmark? Well, I guess they're laser engraving something, right? Jewelry or something, right? Yeah, they do something.
Starting point is 02:33:55 That's the type that the cases are actually able to withstand that. Yeah, I'm really afraid to break mine, though. Because you break that and that's it. That's it? Yeah. You're not replacing it? One thing I want to know, though, with Volume 2 and that's it that's it yeah you're not getting you're not replacing it one thing i want to know though with volume two because this one's called ohio ohio volume one so with volume two now on this one you know they did what cleveland columbus dayton and other regions what do they do on the next one do they do those same places again they do another tape of cleveland Columbus, Dayton, and other regions?
Starting point is 02:34:25 Or are they throwing in Cincinnati? What are they doing? I don't know. Well, yeah. I guess it just depends on how many people they get from each area. Talk about for a while, because I have to rewind this side a little bit. Well, if you get like four people from Cincinnati, then you could do a Cincinnati side. Okay.
