Starting point is 00:00:00 Tabs out. Yo. Yo. Tabs out, episode seven. Lucky number seven, lucky number seven. This is not lucky number seven. Not at all. We are coming in from some technical difficulties. Yeah, we've been setting up for like an hour and a half. Let me see what time it is.
Starting point is 00:00:40 What time is it? Hour and 45 minutes. Hour and 45? Hour and 45 minutes to set up this thing that we've done six other times. Well, it's a new setup. It is a new setup. It is a new setup. So, working out the kinks.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Working out the kinks. Kinks, I think, are worked out, right? I think the kinks are worked out. I think we got it. I think we got it. All right, good. There's a little rough going there. What do we got?
Starting point is 00:01:05 You want to get right into this? Do we get right in or do we want to talk about anything? Yeah, we've been here for so long. I need to hear something. I need to hear something. Drink a beer maybe and then we'll jerk off a little bit. Jerk around. What are we going to do?
Starting point is 00:01:19 That's not what he meant. He was testing the waters. He was just seeing if we'd be like, oh, alright. Touch each other's butts. Like, what? You know, like the metaphorically... Pause the tape and rewind it. Alright.
Starting point is 00:01:36 You wanted to play this discriminate music bonus tape. What's this, another bonus? What do we got? Yeah, it's... I had this last time around. I was going to play it, but I got lost in the pile back here. bonus what do we got yeah it's um i had this last time around and then we're i was gonna play but i got lost in the pile back here it's uh a split between inez lightfoot and nightlight oh that's gordon lightfoot's daughter right yeah i think so um uh nightlight i think is uh
Starting point is 00:02:01 because these things don't really come with it's like they're slip cases and then there's the tape inside it's like a cassette single from back in the day. Yeah, it's like a casingle. It's like a young MC casingle. Yeah. And you don't really get any information. But I think Nightlight is like Phil French and Jeffrey Astin, right? I don't really know.
Starting point is 00:02:15 I think you're right. I think you're right. I'm not sure who Inez Lightfoot is. I kind of wish there was like a wall sticker on the back of that. Like the wall. The place in the mall? Yeah. Oh, wall to wall sound and video? Yeah. Like the lifetime guarantee sticker? Yeah, yeah, yeah. sticker on the back of that like the wall it looks like the place in the mall yeah oh wall
Starting point is 00:02:25 to wall sounding video like the lifetime guarantee sticker yeah yeah yeah i used to take those off or um what did i do i think i would just switch the shell yeah they were just they were just on the case yeah yeah so you just switch the shell they didn't really think ahead with that yeah really got one over on them now they're out of business. Thanks a lot, Dave. I heard that other place is going out of business. What took them over? Coconuts. FYE?
Starting point is 00:02:49 FYE. I heard they're going out of business. They're still around? There's one in the mall. I don't know if it's still there, but if it is still there, it actually got some pretty good stuff there. I've looked through the metal section before and seen some cool stuff. The metal section is really good.
Starting point is 00:03:01 It is really good. What side are you going to play? Did you say that already? The Inez Lightfoot. The Inez Lightfoot. All right. Let's jump right in. Yeah, let's jump right in.
Starting point is 00:03:08 I listened to this a couple times. It's pretty good. It's a C-10. It's like a five-minute track. So let's just get right in with a nice short one. Inez Lightfoot. Thank you. I'm going to go searching for you I'm lost in the dark I'm lost in the dark so so I don't want to see you I don't want to see you
Starting point is 00:05:12 I don't want to see you I don't want to see you I'm going to sing this song now. I'm going to take a deep breath. I wish I could be with you I'm not alone I'm not alone I'm not alone I'm not alone Oh Oh I'm sorry. To my dreams. All right, right on. That was the Inez Lightfoot side of the split with Nightlight on the Discriminate music bonus tape. Not sure if they still have those, but if they do,
Starting point is 00:07:55 you make an order from Discriminate, you'll get one. And if not, they probably have another bonus tape coming out soon. Yeah, what are they doing? Like once a month, right? I don't know if it's like until they run out, then they do another one, or if it's once a month, because it doesn't say like a month on it.
Starting point is 00:08:11 It just says 2012. Yeah, well, it says 01022. Okay, there's 2012 at the end. 102, I don't know. I don't know what's going on. I'm looking up here. Inez Lightfoot. Jackie McDowell's real name.
Starting point is 00:08:28 It's Rodney McDowell's daughter, I think. Oh, is that Rodney McDowell's daughter? He's actually from Portland. Portland, yeah. She's got a couple of releases. Digitalis and Sun and stuff like that. I probably own something, but nothing's ringing a bell. Really good track.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Yeah, it was good. All right, who's going next? David. I'll play a little bit. Dave's going. Play a little bit. I got this compilation from American Tapes. That looks like an American Tapes release.
Starting point is 00:08:58 It's called Mixed Above Emotions. It's a C90. It came out in 2010. It's a C90, but another copy might be like a see ya yeah this is a well I can't believe there's a I can't with there's a real cassette label yeah well what's on the other side no no no this is this was a Ralph Compton but this side I mean yeah but does that can't believe there's a cassette label on the other side but it's for something else right so that
Starting point is 00:09:24 others the B site it's probably something else. Right. So that other, the B-side is the label. It's probably been recycled. Capital Area District Library. Just buy tapes. Do you think this was a tape that he got? They're not expensive. And then he recycled it again and turned it into that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:37 I love the Sharpie. It's like a little bloop. That's good enough. That's the style, man. That'll do. That's the aesthetic. This is pretty cool. Pretty cool comp. That's good enough. That's the style, man. That'll do. That's the aesthetic. But it is a pretty cool comp. I just pulled it out today for the first time in a while.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Just buy tapes, especially when you're pressing an LP of Silence. Uh-huh. And you're charged how much per? Probably like 15 bucks. 15 bucks. Was it one-sided? It was one-sided. You know, it probably doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:10:04 It was one-sided. You know, it probably doesn't matter. I think it was one-sided. So $15 for a one-sided LP of Silence. Take the profit from that and buy some blank tapes. Yeah, but look what this is packaged in, too. It's a piece of cardboard, right? This is like... Taped over. This is like the inside of a toilet paper roll held together with medical tape.
Starting point is 00:10:25 You know they finally make tulip paper rolls without the cardboard in the middle? What? They finally got around to that without the tube. So it just goes into the middle and then stops? That's the way it should be. Do you think they do it with the tube and then they take it out? In the factory? They have like eight tubes that
Starting point is 00:10:41 innate workers are constantly doing it. Is this a roofing shingle? Is it rough? It's a little rough on the inside. Who's on this comp? Well, there's no names on. But there's six people. The first, I was going to play a dwelling unit, which is an Olsen project.
Starting point is 00:11:04 It's probably like all Olsen projects. Yeah. You know what I like? That the inside is all crazy spray painted as well. That's awesome. Because it was probably going to be used for something else, and then he didn't, so he folded it inside out. I love when you go to Olsen's Discog page,
Starting point is 00:11:16 and it's like eight paragraphs of when it's also known as. Yeah, yeah. Or in projects, and it's just like everything. Yeah. Yeah, so I'm sure like everything on this comp is probably something he's involved in yeah probably but yeah i just play the first track on the a side a side this is dwelling unit john olsen John Olsen. I don't know. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. so so so so I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm not sure if you can see it, but I'm sorry. I'm sorry. We flew from that crew.
Starting point is 00:16:35 That's nothing Zach Alpenac has asked TNFA. We're back. And we're back. Alright. That was all Olsen on that comp, right? You determined? Yeah, pretty much. At least all Olsen projects.
Starting point is 00:16:49 All related projects. I'm pretty sure all of them were just him. Oh, okay. And what was the comp called? Mixed Above Emotions. Yeah. Thanks for double checking, Joe. all right what do you got i got the uh glass coffin one master split on peasant magic that's that's one of my favorites is one of your favorites i like it
Starting point is 00:17:15 i like it a lot well i'm actually what i think i'm gonna play the one master side but i was torn between which one i was actually just this. Actually, this is Justin Conlon. Metal lawyer. Yeah, metal lawyer friend of ours from a while back. Just talking about him the other day. Now, do you know on this release, I'm not sure, is it just him or is this when he had the full band? I'm not really sure, yeah, because there was some stuff that was just him playing everything, right?
Starting point is 00:17:41 Yeah, but it doesn't say on the liner notes. Because Sal was in One Master at one point. I think he went up and practiced with them a bunch, but I don't think they ever played it. They never played a gig or anything.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Played a gig. Yeah, I think I'm going to play the One Master side. Rewind that. God damn it. Yeah, I don't come prepared. Well, I wasn't sure if I was going to play
Starting point is 00:18:01 the Glass Coffin side. I can't believe, we've been here for like an hour and 45 minutes before this, and you didn't think just to rewind this tape? What, on the setup that you were trying to figure out how to use? You can rewind while we're doing it, though. Point Joe.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Point Joe, exactly. It could have been rewind while it was happening. Glass Coffin is Josh Lay, right? Yeah, it's Josh Lay. Is it a solo project? Is that just Josh Lay? It says just Josh Lay, yeah. All music and vocals.
Starting point is 00:18:25 All right, right on. I like that his myspace.com is www.myspace.com slash glass coffin black metal. Because glass coffin was already taken. What about glass coffin 2? All right, well, I think this is rewound. Do it.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Not much to say about the packaging because it's classic Peasant Magic. Well, I mean, you know, it's got the vellum band, obviously. Yeah, the vellum band. But then a nice... Let me see. That's why I didn't rewind it. That is a pretty crisp stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:54 Because that's why you didn't rewind it. Oh, that's some small type there. I'm not going to be able to get it back in. I can't read that. Look how small that type is. Yeah, you got to get real close to read that. This should come with like a magnifying glass. Or like one of those, like, if like an old person that gets a subscription to like.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Reader's Digest? Yeah, and it comes with, well, I guess you can get the large print version. When's a tape label going to do that? A large print tape? It's going to put out a large print version of the tape. Dave, are you taking your shirt off or something over there? Yeah, I'm getting a little toasty. It's sticky in here.
Starting point is 00:19:23 It's hot as shit in here. It's sticky in here, yeah. That's why I wore my comfy shorts. I noticed that when you came in that you had your umbra. I know, it was going to be really hot in here. Your umbra's on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:31 All right. Thought we were opening the fucking windows, but obviously that's not happening. No, close them. We don't want the outside ambiance coming into the recording. One master. Take hold, my angel I am your angel
Starting point is 00:20:11 Take hold, my angel Take my hand now Take my little boy I'm a monster. I'm not a fucking idiot. Take me now Seek me Take my love Take my resistance I am saved I am alive I am saved I am the answer, I am the strength
Starting point is 00:22:26 In the end I'm the one, I'm the strength It's now or never, it's free It's now or never, it's free I'm the answer Hey! Hey! Hey! I'm running out So long now It's only me and you And I'm running out It's where we begin right now You'll be sorry
Starting point is 00:23:31 But there's too much You'll be human Get out I'm sorry. I'm a warrior I'm a warrior The end of the universe is in my sight Rainbow I am made In touch with my heart I hate men In times when I'm In times when I'm
Starting point is 00:25:14 Alright, that was the one master side off the Glass Coffin Split, Peasant Magic. Not the whole side, right? No, it's not the whole side. It was the first track. I think it's two tracks. A single jam. That's a good one. Yeah, that's a good one.
Starting point is 00:25:30 Justin Conley. That project's now defunct, right? He's not doing that anymore? I don't think so. What's he doing? Like I was saying before. Oh, what were you saying before? I was saying I was just talking about him the other day.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Oh, you were? Because Paul's in town, a friend of our Paul. He's a little bit, you know, around here. Moved out to California. He was back for the Maryland Death Fest thing. Oh, you were? Because Paul's in town, a friend of our Paul. He's a little around here. Moved out to California. He was back for the Maryland Death Fest thing. Oh, right. And Justin Conlon, who's still working up in Massachusetts, I guess, came down and scooped up
Starting point is 00:25:54 Sal and Paul and they went to the Death Fest. Alright, cool. Heard it was really good, too. Whatever. Cool. Here it was. Alright, I'll go here with the next jam just got some tapes in the mail from uh remember
Starting point is 00:26:09 Drew Dahl road cop tape that we played yeah that dude sent me a couple tapes I guess he put out on his label um I'm not sure what the label's called or where it says it but I'll figure that while it's playing but this tape is uh it's called
Starting point is 00:26:25 The Callow Summit by Arclight oh here it is Faulkner tapes oh this came out in 2010 this is going on this is getting kind of old
Starting point is 00:26:33 but I was listening to this today it's a really good tape comes packaged like the the cover is a like a piece of cloth like a
Starting point is 00:26:41 piece of fabric a square of a pillowcase oh that's a good idea is that a square? it's a pretty is that even on all sides? it's A square of a pillowcase. Oh, that's a good idea. Is that a square? It's a pretty... Is that even in all sizes? It's our Sosalese. It's the size of a one-panel J-card.
Starting point is 00:26:51 I'm sorry. But it's a pretty cool-looking one. Yeah, I like the... Nice little design going on. Take care of that. You got a hairball? And then it's got one little piece of paper in here for the insert,
Starting point is 00:27:04 like typewriter treatment. And then this little label. What is that? Some Japanese writing on there? I believe that's Japanese. What's that say, Joe? You're a tattoo artist. You probably do a lot of, like...
Starting point is 00:27:16 Oh, that means... Like, do people think it means, like, power within, but it actually means, like, extension cord? Yeah. Okay, yeah. Who knows what it means? But play a little bit of this tape. Arclight.
Starting point is 00:27:30 A little bit of side A. Here it is. Yeah. I'm going to go. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Whoa. That was a jam. Two tracks from Arclight off of the Calo Summit tape on Faulkner tapes. I'm really into that kind of stuff lately. Drew Dowsley. That kind of like bedroom hip hop, but it's not hip hop, you know. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:26 There's a lot of that kind of stuff floating around right now. Yeah, yeah, I'm into it too. This whole tape is actually pretty fucking amazing. The one tape, that Bucket Tim-a tape or whatever it's called. Yeah, you showed me that. Which I showed you, which I'm pretty sure is by some sort of noiser type dude. So, you know, it has the... It's still got its quirks.
Starting point is 00:33:44 It's got quirks. It's got sensibilities. Yeah, it has weird sensibilities but mixing with some sort of DJ hip-hop element which is awesome. That was really good. I just had this entire tape. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:33:58 It's a C48. The first track I honestly wasn't super into but when it kicked into that second track that was a treat. That was a treat. That was a treat. Not sure if it's still available, but internet that. See what you can come up with. If the feds will let you.
Starting point is 00:34:13 All right. I mean to actually buy it. Oh, to buy it? Yeah. To actually have a physical copy. But I believe that's Drew Dahl's label, Faulkner Dibs. David. Chagat. have a physical copy but i believe that's drew doll's label falconer dips david she got uh she got oh got a little gas you got some gas uh i was gonna do this tape by a project called the aleph or the aleph it's on tape drift always one thing that we can't pronounce there's always
Starting point is 00:34:43 several things that we can't pronounce let me's always several things that we can't pronounce. Let me see what you got there. Tape drift. That's Eric Harden. The Aleph. The Aleph. Yeah, A-L-E-P-H. I like this artwork. Is this...
Starting point is 00:34:55 Yeah, it's cut a little rough, but, you know, what are you going to do? No, no, that's just regular. It looks awesome. It definitely looks like an old letterpress-like type design. I'm going to try to tie my hair up here with this wire tie. See if this works out. See, Dave, here's what you need to get for your tapes. You see that rack on the back there?
Starting point is 00:35:14 Yeah, well, that's what I have. I have four of those. You've been looking for more and you can't find them? Well, on eBay they're like $40. Did you know those Napa Valley wooden cases? They're 40 cases. Or 40 cases. 40 cases.
Starting point is 00:35:27 40 cases of wine. $40. A case equals a dollar. What money system is this? Yeah. Where are they selling these from? Is this like Estonia? Let me see.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Wow. I usually pick those up at Goodwill, you know, randomly. You made the ones that you had. I made the two, and then I have one of uh wine case ones since you got me yeah i like usually i'll go to like you know goodwill's and i'll just be like sometimes they won't be for sale but i'll just be like i'll give you you know five bucks a piece for those oh the ones that they're storing the tapes right currently sort of the same fucking tapes they had for the last eight years i was at the farmer's market not long ago and some dude had like you know one that had like 30 tapes or something like that.
Starting point is 00:36:05 And I asked him like, you know, how much do you want for this? And he's like, what do you want to give me? And I was like, I don't know. I was thinking like two bucks. And he was like, not a chance. Not a chance. And I was like, what are you looking for? 20.
Starting point is 00:36:16 20. 20 bucks. And I was like, wait for the next person who like. Who wants to buy money for that? Who wants to buy something to like hold their cassettes in. What fucking, I got. who wants to buy something to hold their cassettes in. Let's keep this family friendly here. Yeah, Dave. Sometimes it just flies out.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Sometimes it just flies out. Especially when you're talking about farmer's markets and stuff. I went to that flea market and there was a guy there in Newcastle and there was a guy who had stuff set outside and he had a maryland morrow picture propped up on one of those napa valley cases and i was like is that for sale no no that's to hold this picture up it's just i'm gonna take
Starting point is 00:36:55 this home and then i went to that uh stanton thrift store i've been going there for like six months they've had i swear they've had the same cassettes there oh yeah they've had the same cassettes for years. They don't sell tapes, though. And I'm just like, he's got five of them there. I was like, would you be willing to part with one of those for $5? Oh, no, I need those. I've got to put my tapes somewhere.
Starting point is 00:37:14 Can't get rid of those. That's also because assholes think now, like, you know what that dude did? He eBayed that. He tried to look it up on eBay. Oh, sure. Because whenever anyone asks to buy anything, all of a sudden, everybody thinks they have gold. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:26 You know what I mean? The other day the trash man told me he found a Frank Sinatra record from, I don't know, 52 in the trash. You think that's worth money? Oh, definitely. Sure. The record that you found in the trash that's probably in real good condition. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:42 That's probably worth a lot of money. I got a lot of Beatles records at home. They're worth money, right? Man, assholes with their Beatles records. Jesus Christ. All right, who's going up here? Who's up? Dave, he's got the left tape.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Yeah, left. This is... On tape drift. Is that Eric Hardman's label? Yeah. Rambutan. Oh, this asshole did the shit with the Band-Aid sticker on the back. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:38:04 You're going to have to rewind. Wait, whose label is this? Eric Hardiman from... Rambutan. Yeah, is he in Century Plans? Right. Why? Somebody owe you money?
Starting point is 00:38:17 No, no, that name was familiar to me for some reason. This is, by the way, this is somewhat of like a super group, I guess. It's Derek Rogers. Derek group, I guess. Ooh. It's Derek Rogers. Derek Rogers. I'm going hungry. What was that? Temple of the Dog. Temple of the Dog.
Starting point is 00:38:31 It's Derek Rogers, Chris Cornell. It's Derek Rogers, Lee Noble. I swear to God, I was just going to say Lee Noble. Were you? I was going to say Lee Noble and then Scott Weiland, but I was going to say Lee Noble. And Alex Gray and Charlotte Van Camel. Alex Gray, like the painter? No, I'm sure it's not, but we can pretend.
Starting point is 00:38:50 And Charlotte Van Camel. That's Gray Holger's daughter, I think. I like that the last name or the first name then becomes the last name of his daughter. Don't dissect it. Don't take my joke and try to use it. Let me see the cover for this again. When was this put out recently or
Starting point is 00:39:06 this is recent yeah you're going to play a little bit of off the side A this is this year you can probably actually still find this oh I don't like how
Starting point is 00:39:13 it says like it says tape drift TD 52 but the 2 is in ink and everything else the 2 is in hand written yeah it's like
Starting point is 00:39:20 we know what's going to be in the 50s so print it up now we'll just put it in whatever it is yeah that one was kind of a little weird, too. It doesn't really, you know, that fold-over flap there. Yeah, the cover image kind of goes over the crease, right?
Starting point is 00:39:34 It goes over the crease and then that small panel doesn't cover up the entire window there. All right, well, this is a little lazy. Let's not dissect it. Come on, give him a break, Dave. Jesus Christ. It's a great tape, regardless. So we're going to play a little bit Let's not dissect it Let's not Yeah come on Give him a break Dave Jesus Christ It's a great tape Regardless
Starting point is 00:39:47 So we're gonna play A little bit of the B-side B-side is that what we're doing Yeah As Dada Death Is the name of the track D-L-F Self titled I don't know. so so
Starting point is 00:40:54 so Thank you. so so so so so so so so so so The Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. so so so so um so so Thank you. so so so so so
Starting point is 00:47:31 so so so so so Music so so I love you. I was talking to the audience. Oh, we're back? Yeah, we're back. It gives some ambiance. I think so. I think so. You're listening to soft sounds. Soft sounds of... If Lee Noble's in that project, then that may be letterpress.
Starting point is 00:49:59 Because that guy, he does no kings. And that label letterpress is all of their like he does it himself no one cares about the intricacies of printing industry either way awesome tape Dave's closing his eyes like he's frustrated no no no
Starting point is 00:50:17 what's the difference between Letterpress and what was the other thing? we'll discuss it later that's another topic for another show. Another podcast. Join us on Printing Today. Paper with Haley. Joby, what are you gripping there in your obvious eyes and hands?
Starting point is 00:50:35 I have an older tape. It's Religious Knives Haunting Split on heavy tapes. I remember when you bought this tape. Yeah. Ooh, let me see that. Yeah, it's really nice. What do you call that? That's like...
Starting point is 00:50:44 Let's just talk about printing. That's like burn in there burnt is it a wood burn let me say hang it over that's um braille it's braille yeah that's what okay you're gonna that's what they call raised print raised printing yeah it feels like it's uh it's down though it feels like it feels like it's in yeah that's not raised you feel like it's debossed no yeah that's raised no oh wait a minute no that's not erased no that's definitely raised no it's not yes it is whatever it doesn't matter i think it does matter a lot of dead air going on right now there There's rain. There's rain in the background. Not up. Either way.
Starting point is 00:51:28 Either way. Yeah, they did a little batch a long time ago that, I don't know how many tapes were in that batch, but with Maya Miller artwork that was either embossed or debossed or raised, whatever we want to call it, and a cool little folding. That's pretty crazy. Yeah, it's pretty awesome. Yeah, like folding. And the haunting is Mike Conley and his wife But we're going to play the religious knife side
Starting point is 00:51:50 Oh, this tape got wet Well, you just spilled all this beer Oh, I did that right now Not all this beer, it was probably like A drop Two sips of peps Does heavy tapes do anything anymore? I don't think they do anything anymore
Starting point is 00:52:02 I don't even know if religious knives is still a thing or what. I haven't heard that name in years, so probably not, right? No, I don't think so. Yeah. I think, yeah. So this is both live sets. What side are you playing here? The religious knives set.
Starting point is 00:52:18 Do I have to fucking rewind it for you? Is it side A? If it's side A, then I have to rewind it. Yeah, side A. Rewind that. A little glossy on the inside, or is that beer? That might be beer. Sometimes I really wonder how you got your podcast license.
Starting point is 00:52:33 No, that's glossy on the inside. Okay. Yeah, that's good. It's like a light gloss, though. It's not. It's like this little pot leaf right there. That's obvious. A little hidden.
Starting point is 00:52:42 It's an Easter egg. It's like you're watching The Matrix, and you just clicked on something when the menus came out and they have easter eggs yeah there's there's some on the simpsons um dvds like you know because it's like a scene and then if you somewhere in everyone somewhere there's like a little easter egg that'll do something that is definitely d boss it's definitely d boss kill those eyeballs is d boss the thing yeah how does that happen? How do they do that? Well, that's when they have something and then they press it into it and it leaves an impression. I know how to deboss something.
Starting point is 00:53:12 I don't know how you print. Get the printing in there? Get the color in there? I don't know. Unless you print it and then deboss it. Yeah, feel those eyeballs up there. I think we're really rambling on about this debossing thing. Yeah, it's debossed.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Okay. Oh, yeah, DeBoss. Okay. All right. Yeah, we got him. All right. Jesus Christ. So here we go. Religious knives. Thank you. so I'm sorry. I love you. I'm sorry. so I don't know. Thank you. so
Starting point is 00:57:39 so I'm sorry. Come on. I'm sorry. so so so I don't know. We're just on our side off of the Haunting. Heavy tapes. 2001. Eight? I don't know. Eight probably. Nah.
Starting point is 01:00:05 Yeah, eight maybe. Something like that. Eight, six, something like that. heavy tapes 2001 8 probably nah yeah 8 maybe something like that 8, 6 something like that cool man 9 is divisible by 3 what is that from? the Hossbergers
Starting point is 01:00:15 oh that's right a lot of numbers are divisible by 3 I like how the other guy remembered though is today your anniversary? How'd you remember? It's 9-3.
Starting point is 01:00:28 This is why three. All right. What are you, you just put it right in, huh? I'm not gonna press play yet, but I put it in. Got a tape by Mike Shifflett called Cannibal Frequencies
Starting point is 01:00:42 released by Gods of Tundra a couple years back. Oh, I like that inside. Yeah, all blue inside, and it feels like a piece of film or something like that. The outside is like a spray-painted thing with images taped over top of it.
Starting point is 01:00:57 Do you see this symbol in there? What is that? I think it's just like four lines. No, it's four lines and a triangle. Yeah, because... Like a directional marker. Yeah, how to put it in. I don't know what this is.
Starting point is 01:01:12 I think that's just spray paint over top. No, it's not spray paint. I'm not sure what this... Somebody get Conley on the phone. It's like a heavy, glossy paper. Yeah, I don't know what that is. I'd love to find out, though. I like it.
Starting point is 01:01:24 Let me get my notes on that. Hey, feel that. Feel that at your I'd love to find out, though. I like it. Let me get my mitts on that. Hey, feel that. Feel that at your fingertips and see what it reminds you of. That's like a play button, like a pause play button, kind of. But there's another one up here, too, in the other corner. Different. It's almost like a watermark. Yeah, it's like a watermark.
Starting point is 01:01:41 This is... It's a mystery. That's the Gods of Tundra watermark. That's how you know you got a real, unofficial Gods of Tundra release. Always look for the Gods of Tundra watermark. Four lines and a triangle. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 01:01:53 So this is Mike Shiflett? Mike Shiflett from... I like how it doesn't say his name anywhere. Somewhere in Ohio. Nowhere? No. It says Cannibal Frequencies. Maybe I lost the...
Starting point is 01:02:02 That's the name of the... I hope it's a Mike Shiflett tape. All it says is Cannibal Frequencies. Maybe I lost it. I hope it's a Mike Shiflett tape. All it says is Cannibal Frequencies. Okay, well, let's go into it, assuming it's Mike Shiflett. And then we'll do some research and come back. And then we'll ask Jeeves, and then we'll have it all figured out. Sounds good. All right, but here it is.
Starting point is 01:02:19 It's like in the middle of one of the sides. We now join Mike Shifflett already in progress. I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. so Thank you. so I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get back to the car. Thank you. Thank you. All right. We looked that up. Did some research. The project is called Cannibal Frequencies. By Mike Shifflett. But, yeah, it is Mike Shifflett. But it's not a Mike Shifflett joint.
Starting point is 01:10:17 No, which really throws me off the game because I've always considered this a Mike Shifflett tape. Which technically it is. Now, well, technically it is, but literally it isn't. Now I don't know where to put it. Of course, like in all seriousness, it's probably going to go in that pile back there. You mean this huge pile of tapes behind you? And never make its way back out to...
Starting point is 01:10:35 One day I really need to like... You know, because I enjoy taking everything off the shelf and then deciding how I'm going to sort my tapes and putting them all back on the shelf. How do you got them right now? Well, it's obviously by label. Right now, well, see, a while ago I had it by label, but I had it by label from where the labels were. So I had a northeast.
Starting point is 01:10:55 Oh, regional? Yeah, like a regional. So I had a bunch of New England labels, and then I had a bunch of Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Midwestern labels. And then I had like, you know, Florida, Georgia, Deep South labels, Europe. Dirty South. Dirty.
Starting point is 01:11:13 But I don't know how I'm going to do it next. I always think about just doing alphabetical order by artist. But I don't like to. I like to keep my labels together with tapes. No, keep it together. Yeah. So who knows? I never had the time to do it.
Starting point is 01:11:24 Keep it tight. Keep it tight. Maybe do it by like subgenre labels together with tapes. Keep it together. Yeah. So who knows? I never have the time. Keep it tight. Keep it tight. Maybe do it by like sub-genre. No, no, no. That's not going to happen. What do I do with the 80 tapes I've never listened to before? You got to listen to them. That's the point.
Starting point is 01:11:36 That's the whole point of reorganizing them. So maybe I'll wait till all of my tapes make it from one room to back here. Yeah, let's just wait till it taps out 70 when all the tapes are back here now it sounds like a plan all right this tape is like I got this tape I think like four years ago when I played with Mike Shiflett and Dayton so I don't know if this is still available, but God's a Tundra, Campbell Frequencies. All right, who's up? Dave. Am I up?
Starting point is 01:12:10 Dave's Corner. We need to get a little jingle. Yeah, a little jingle. Get a three-part harmony, females. Dave's Corner. What do you got there, Dave? Well, I've been bringing this one Dave I was thinking like a gospel thing like a whole choir
Starting point is 01:12:27 you got a whole choir to do it really like a boys choir I was thinking women whatever that was like a mouse trap what are you doing over there
Starting point is 01:12:44 I brought this tape probably the last two or three podcasts. I didn't get around to it. But I think we should play it. It's a good one. It's Regio Sphere. Tape called Gutter Swarm. I picked up from Mr. Andrew Quitter. Probably a couple years ago when he played in Newark.
Starting point is 01:13:05 He was on Dumpster Score. Yeah. Is that the label that he does? Yeah. That's a good name. It is a good name. Goddard Swarm. From 2008, 2009.
Starting point is 01:13:17 All this seems so... Not weird because 2008 isn't that long ago, but like... Yeah, stuff that you can't probably get. No. Right on. So you're going to play a little bit off of... I noticed this isn't fucking rewound either. It's not supposed to be, Haley.
Starting point is 01:13:32 He has it set up. It's queued up. Did you already mention that? It's an industry term. No. But Dave comes prepared. This isn't a tape that I've chosen. Do you have any notes on this one, Dave?
Starting point is 01:13:42 Do I have any notes? Yeah, he usually has notes. He usually has nice notes. He usually has nice notes. He's like four windows open with separate notes. If I ever just speak off the cuff, I always forget what I want to say about it, so I have to keep notes. No, I'm wrong with that.
Starting point is 01:13:56 No, no one's... Just busting your chops. Just busting... I don't have any chops. What are you on with? A or B here? Going on the A side. It's like track three three or four i don't know because a couple of them run together it's either called place to go or monochrome existence how'd you remember that i'm on the insert i can see through it yeah there's no way okay what's, what's track five called? It doesn't have a title.
Starting point is 01:14:29 No, you're wrong. You're wrong. It does. It does have a title. You can't see through this. You can't see through this. You're a piece of shit. Which one of them doesn't have a title? None of them.
Starting point is 01:14:36 They all have titles. They all have titles. It says, you see what's throwing you off? It says B. B, and then there's a dash. Oh, okay. I have a photographic memory. All right.
Starting point is 01:14:51 All right, well, let's get into this. Regosphere. Is that how you say it, Regosphere? I think it's Regosphere. I'm going to say Regosphere. No one fucking knows. We can't pronounce anything on this podcast. Exit 17, Exit 17, Exit 17, Exit 17,

Starting point is 01:23:25 Coming back from that Rego Swing. Yeah, we had a little bit of a Tabs Out Meltdown there. Tabs Out Meltdown Part 2, your laptop totally froze up. Joby lost his mind and started jump kicking everybody. Yeah, I just destroyed this room. I didn't do anything wrong. Don't bring me. You poured beer all over my laptop.
Starting point is 01:23:44 And then you got mad when I yelled at you. Like it's his fault. Dave's just upset because he has like an $8,000 laptop. Gaming laptop. But all you need is a nice $250 HP. It'll really get you by. Alright, well we're back.
Starting point is 01:23:59 What's your laptop's called? It's an Aslis? Aslis. We're back though after that. Jesus Christ. Alright, so yeah, that was after that. I had to add a little milk. Jesus Christ. All right, so, yeah, that was Regosphere. Did we say what actually happened? It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 01:24:10 His laptop froze. My computer froze up for the first time. We lost everything. All right, but that was Regosphere. Regosphere. Regosphere. You guys want to talk about something? What did I say?
Starting point is 01:24:23 The one that you said before, it was Regios P here. Regios P here. You guys want to talk about what i said was the one that you said before it was uh regios p here you just be here you guys want to talk about some new releases yeah what do we got going on what do you got dave what's up what do you got up on your screen uh well nothing yeah because last time i did that the fucking computer froze but it was a new uh hooker vision batch yeah all black and white Man that looks really fucking good Crippling Tape Grant Evans Tape Motion Sickness Time Travel
Starting point is 01:24:51 Meryl Which wasn't that an old like French hardcore band named Meryl I don't know if they were French I think that was uh It's probably not the same band No probably not Luna Luna I don't know who that is same band. No, probably not. Luna Luna, whatever.
Starting point is 01:25:09 I don't know who that is. Luna Luna? I just ordered those. Those look pretty nice. There's a update. The first time I've seen this. I guess it's a new label. Newer label. This is their up to their sixth release. CGI Friday. CGI Friday.
Starting point is 01:25:25 CGI Friday. It's fucking gold. So good. And what's funny about it is I hate CGI, and I hate TGI Fridays. But together. But if you put it together somehow, it's amazing. Run DMT. Run DMT.
Starting point is 01:25:43 Amazing. Run DMT, TracyT Amazing Run DMT Tracy Trance Which we decided is obviously the guy who runs the label Yeah whoever runs the label is like really into that kind of wordplay I love that kind of wordplay Me too I'm a huge fan New Fossils tape out on MGC
Starting point is 01:25:59 Middle James Company David Payne who does the project with people and runs the label just put out a few things but the only one that's a tape is a Fossil C60 that just came out a new Kevin Greenspon's label Bridgetown
Starting point is 01:26:17 just put out a new batch some stuff by Hobo Cubes and Venrain what else is in this? Sparkling Wide Pressure Desert of Hiatus Hospital's got
Starting point is 01:26:34 a couple new cassettes didn't he start a new label? I don't know he put like a Vatican Shadow LP or something like that but Hospital has new tapes out? Yeah. What is their label?
Starting point is 01:26:47 Like, Nun Gun. It's like, C4. Rainforest. Eight dollars. Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement. Two releases from that project.
Starting point is 01:27:01 I used to be really into all that stuff. I kind of feel like I'm over it now. Yeah, done with it. Yeah, I'm done with it. He moved to LA. Ooh. All right. Hospital store is no longer.
Starting point is 01:27:11 I don't understand. Yeah, it's done. Yeah, I did hear that. I've never been to the hospital store when it was in the upstairs part. I was only in the downstairs part where you had to burrow your way through a cubby hole to get down to it. If you are overweight in any way or shaped round, you cannot go downstairs. You're not getting down there.
Starting point is 01:27:30 Yeah, it was weird. I'm sure the fire marshal never made its way up. It was like in the one time when we went there, it was like, you know, the basement crawl space of this like reggae. Yeah, it was like a reggae record shop. Where it was all chill, mellow vibes upstairs. And like in the bomb shelter. Downstairs like black metal and like leather and sweat and dirt.
Starting point is 01:27:54 Swastikas? Well, definitely some swastikas. Tastefully done. Tastefully done. Like electrical tape swastikas over nipples. Yeah, yeah. No big deal. Something you would book at a show, dude.
Starting point is 01:28:04 Yeah. All right. Never going to would book at a show, dude. All right. We're going to let that one go, aren't we? Joe, you're going to play this... I'm going to play this Cabalese tape called... Should we talk about it like we didn't already play it and listen to it? No, we're just going to talk about it like it's new. Okay, go ahead.
Starting point is 01:28:20 It's the cassette version of an LP on Digitalis. Digitalis, yeah yeah digitalis yeah digital i always had digitalis too and then there was an episode that show psych and they said digitalis that's when i learned digitalis and what context yeah what on psych huh what's that show about one guy's site it's like uh what's that movie with balky botakamuse? Second Sight. I like the one with Simi Valper more. VODs. It's Jeff Goldblum's in that, isn't it? Joe, where are you going?
Starting point is 01:28:57 I was closing the door. Alright, Cavaladies. Chris Bush, who does a project called Flower Man and some other things and then Eric I forget his last name
Starting point is 01:29:07 who does a project called either Com Carl or Carl Com something like that B side of this tape alright but here they are
Starting point is 01:29:17 Cavaliers Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get back to work. Thank you. so so Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get out of here. Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and get the key. so I'm going to have to go back to the Thank you. I'm not sure if I can get the so so Thank you. so so I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm sorry. so I think that's it. Thank you. I'm going to have to go back up there. so so I'm going to go ahead and do that. Thank you. I'm sorry. so I'm going to go. That was Campbell Bainey's Atomic Weekender, side B. A couple tracks off side B. The opener and then the first. Some good jams. Yeah, it was good.
Starting point is 01:42:36 Did we all see them in Newark? I'm sorry, not in Newark, in Wilmington. Wilmington at Justin Wallace's house. Maybe a year ago. Yeah, the Radio People tour. It was Sam Goldberg. Who else played that? Sam Goldberg. Was there anyone?
Starting point is 01:42:51 There was a local that opened, right? I think I might have played that. Oh, yeah. You played. That's why I don't remember. So incredible. That was a terrible set. I couldn't get anything working right. I don't even remember. Exactly. It was a terrible set. Am I up? Yeah. But they were awesome.
Starting point is 01:43:08 That's what I was getting to. They really... And then Mike made it really awkward. They pushed all my buttons. They pushed all your buttons. What do I got here? You got like a handful of tapes. A handful of tapes, some of which you've already played.
Starting point is 01:43:22 Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. On the program. Yeah, I think I played probably all of these. Joe, hand me another stack. That looks like a good one. There's the stack. You hear that? I know exactly. I can see it right now when I'm playing. Right there. I just picked this up
Starting point is 01:43:42 like, I don't know, 18 days ago. Is that NNA? NNA tape. Yeah, head boggle tape on NNA. Ooh, that's always... New, new age. Always good.
Starting point is 01:43:53 I love their packaging. Yeah, the aesthetic for... Except for the LPs. Yeah, they really shook up the circle thing. They shook the bed on that one. Yeah, you really... Shit the bed, is that what you said? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:03 Yeah, you shit the bed. Really shit the bed on that one. Yeah, you really shit the bed? Is that what you said? Yeah. Yeah, you shit the bed. Really shit the bed on that one. This is a head boggle tape called Unsounds and Domo Live. This dude Derek from California does this project. Synthesizer work. Is head boggle playing
Starting point is 01:44:20 the Voice of the Valley Fest this year? I don't know. He played last time, but it was on Sunday. Didn't he always send coffee out or something? Yeah, he works at some kind of coffee place and he's like a couple years ago
Starting point is 01:44:31 was sending me a bunch of really good coffee. Some dank coffee. Yeah, some definitely dank coffee. Some sour diesel. Purple nurple. The thing I like... Some sour diesel. Purple nurple. The thing I also like about NNA is that they, like, I think they, like, hand paint all their labels.
Starting point is 01:44:51 Let me see that. Yeah, they definitely do. They definitely do. Because that's, like, you can feel the texture of the paint on all those. Oh, that's pretty cool. Yeah. And, like, I like the, you know, you get the half circle on the front panel and then the rest of it on the back.
Starting point is 01:45:05 But I like the ones that, like, this one's not really a half circle. Yeah, I was going to say, like, this one is like an image that's cut kind of into a circle shape, a circle-like shape. But, like, the ones that are, like, things that, like, hole punches. That was the Cabaladies, One Otrus Point Never was all hole punch things that was sort of in a circular pattern. Yeah, that one was really cool. That one was awesome.
Starting point is 01:45:27 I have a bunch of NNA stuff. I have that quick sales tape that I just got from them and a pink desert split. I think it's like a pink desert oak split. I think I have a Dwayne Petrie tape. Petrie? Petrie? Petrie?
Starting point is 01:45:41 A Sun Circle Pregnant Moon split, maybe? That sounds right. That sounds right. I think Pregnant Moon split, maybe? That sounds right. That sounds right. I think Pregnant Moon is like the dude, Matt Mayer, who does this label with Toby Aronson or whatever his name is. I can't pronounce his name. Vermont? Is that where they're from? Yeah, they're from Vermont.
Starting point is 01:45:55 Cold up there. Got a lot of snow up there. It's beautiful this time of year. Maple syrup? Is that where you get maple syrup? You can probably get maple syrup from there. I'm sure you can if they have like a Kroger's. A Kroger's? What's that?
Starting point is 01:46:05 It's a supermarket, I think. Like a Wegmans? What's a Wegmans? A Wegmans is like a fancy supermarket. It's kind of like a Whole Foods. Whole Foods, yeah. Alright, well here's a little bit from this headboggle tape on NNA. Oh! I'm going to go to the beach. so I'm going to have to go back to the All right, that was a little snippet off the head boggle on Sounds and Domo Live. Cassette on NNA.
Starting point is 01:49:04 You all right, Joe? I got the hiccups. Sure, but sweet. Did you say it was live? Or is that just... Well, the tape's called... Jesus Christ. It's called Unsounds and Domo Live.
Starting point is 01:49:15 Okay. I think there's some live stuff on the B side. I think if that was the beginning of the A side, which I don't know if it was, but if it is, that song was called Pink Lloyd. Pink what? Pink Lloyd. Pink what? Pink Lloyd. Let's just go and say it's Pink Lloyd because I'm into that.
Starting point is 01:49:33 I'm into that. Yeah, Headboggle always puts out awesome stuff. Yeah, everything I've ever heard from that dude. I think you can still get this tape, if not from NNA. You can get it from some labels or some distros, I'm sure. How do you do it, Mr. Headboggle? That's what I want to know. How does he do it?
Starting point is 01:49:49 Where do you get all those crazy tones? All right. Dave, do you need to take a minute? I'm okay. All right. It doesn't sound like it. Very unprofessional. Drink a cup of water upside down.
Starting point is 01:50:05 What? Hold your breath. The bowl cup of water upside down. What? Hold your breath. The ice that we used to have? Yeah, do that. The beer ice? Oh, you're really going to drink it. Oh, you're really going to drink it. That's disgusting.
Starting point is 01:50:13 I had my fingers in there a second ago. This isn't stirring. Yeah, like you don't have to take your top off if you don't drink that or anything. What's next? You in a ring toss? Do I win something now? All right, Dave, what do you got? We're going to do a cold listen over here.
Starting point is 01:50:30 Yeah, this is something, Mike, you were saying got sent in. Yeah, this label, Land of Decay, which we played a tape last time around by Andrew Foise. Oh, Foise. Yeah, which is a really good tape. And I actually listened to that again today. But I actually haven't listened to any of the other tapes that we're sending so do you want to go in and
Starting point is 01:50:53 we'll jam one cold listen and see what we think yeah this is a project called Confessions of an American Cult Joe your wife's in the cult is she evidently called Confessions of an American Cult. Joe, your wife's in the cult. Is she? Evidently.
Starting point is 01:51:09 Maybe she's in this project. So, yeah, I just opened this up, and it looked nice. Nice eye-popping yellow shell there, pro-dubbed. That's pretty nice. Well, what's that? Did this logo on here, was that done by Troma? there. Pro-dubbed. That's pretty nice. What's that?
Starting point is 01:51:29 This logo on here, was that done by Troma? Every time I get close to the mic, I get close. This is getting a little ridiculous. Confessions of an American cult. What's this called? Persistence. Tromeo and Juliet. Cannibal the Musical soundtrack. Let me see the cover for this.
Starting point is 01:51:50 Alright, so I guess none of us here have any idea what this is going to sound like. Let's go side A. Mike, you're a betting man. Judging by the shell and the artwork, what do you think this is going to sound like? I think it's going to be
Starting point is 01:52:04 kind of cut and pasty, harsh stuff. Joe, what do you think? You think it's going to sound like some asshole who wants to stop hiccuping? Yes. What do you think? The first track is called, And Hell Opened At My Feet. Confessions of an American Cult. I agree with Dave.
Starting point is 01:52:27 You think? Yeah. I think it's going to be like a band. You think it's going to be a band? Yeah, I think it's going to be like... Because there's other tapes. Servile Sect, I feel like, is a band. I feel like it's going to be like a shitty punk band.
Starting point is 01:52:37 Let's get into it. All right. I'm like really low-fying the drums. I'm going to be like... Just a snare drum. Yeah. That's John Pyle's thing. Yeah, we did that already.
Starting point is 01:52:45 All right. Well, let's get into this and we'll see what it sounds like. Whoever's closest gets to keep the tape. Which is obviously Mike. Thank you. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go.
Starting point is 01:53:32 I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. Starting point is 01:58:50 God, it's just a plan I'm not going to say it, but you will be saying it. Is that right? No, no. I'm not going to change. There may be a body change. Never pull in what we will be changing. I'm not going to change. Never pull in what we will be changing. Speaking of the power of the future, in that good garden, we have a great place to live. I wouldn't say human beings, but I am a little bit of a rebel. I'm a human being.
Starting point is 01:59:14 I'm a human being. I'm a human being. I'm a human being. I'm a human being. I'm a human being. I'm a human being. I'm a human being. My God! My God! My God!
Starting point is 01:59:36 And now, I again will be mine! I'm not afraid It turns me down Come on, come on You are young You're my life Thank you. All right. What was the name of that project? Yeah, the actual project name is Persistence and Mourning, and the tape is called Confessions of an American Cult.
Starting point is 02:01:18 That was good. I guess we were all wrong. I don't like it when they put the album title on the spine. No, me neither. It's a project by a dude. I just had it up here. Named Andrew Lippold. I guess it's a solo project of his.
Starting point is 02:01:36 Okay. Yeah, I guess we were all pretty off what we thought that was going to be. I liked it. It was good. I'd listen to that again. It's a pretty long tape too. It looks like there's a lot more shit on it. But all right. We want to go out here.
Starting point is 02:01:48 We want to end the night. We can do that. It's getting kind of late. I'm ready to go to bed. Yeah. It's... Ooh. Ooh.
Starting point is 02:01:54 Getting into AM hours here. Ac. Chocolate. Is it getting... It's not that late, is it? Yeah, it's not that late. No, it's not that late. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:04 All right. Joby, you're shuffling around back there. Are you looking for something? I'm looking for something. That's the Cherry Point 2 party play. Can we play this already? No. You want to go with that? Yeah, let's go with this.
Starting point is 02:02:15 All right, round. He plays Roman Wolf Tape, which is Donovan, I don't know his last name, right? Donovan Fazzino. Yeah, it's some sort of Italian game, right? From Arabian Blade? Yeah. Yeah, it's his solo project. He actually just... Oh, Fazzino. Yeah, it's some sort of Italian game, right? From Arabian Blade? Yeah, it's his solo project. He actually just sent me a master
Starting point is 02:02:32 for a new Rebel Wolf tape. Oh, he's still doing stuff? Yeah. That's weird, because he's in a hardcore band now, right? Yeah, I think he's in a band called Hate Your Guts or something like that. If you want, we can play that tape, or I haven't listened to the Master. I just got in the middle of the day. We could
Starting point is 02:02:47 jam that. Is it on tape? Yeah. Go get it. You want me to get that? Okay. Alright, so here we go. Dave, are we going to do the piano music again as I leave? No, we don't have to do it this time. Roman Wolf. Untitled, or we might have a title. Master for a new tape. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:03:03 It only works once, I feel like. We only works once i feel like we can't you know we can't be recycling jokes already why not that's how they get funnier over time like when you keep doing them like the first time it's like it's not that funny but like the fifth time it's funny do we do it frequently enough so like no we don't yeah this is only the second time out of seven shows the mics got up to go in the other room no it didn't i thought it was gonna stop but it didn't stop what's that got a cover and everything oh no it's just the uh you know the max l 110 minute tape huh what what uh yeah i don't know how long the tracks actually are
Starting point is 02:03:42 uh this is a Tabs Out exclusive. Are we going to critique his... Oh, wait, Simon Rewound or anything? I haven't listened to it yet. Before we get to this, I just want to say, what is the deal with National Audio Company lately? I've been hearing a lot of complaints about... What's going on?
Starting point is 02:03:57 Just like... Racism? Yeah, racism. I've been hearing that too. No, just with projects backing up a lot. I heard some national law company, didn't they eat someone's face off? No.
Starting point is 02:04:12 That wasn't a national law company, that was someone else. What kind of operation do you even, how big of an operation do you even think that is? Huge. At this point. 100 employees. At this point? 100 employees.
Starting point is 02:04:21 In 2012, you think they have 100 employees? 100 employees. You don't think it's one guy in an apartment at this point? No. Well, it's definitely at least a woman who answers the phone every time I call. So it's her, and then maybe she probably has a scummy boyfriend who has a tape duplicator or something like that. I'm thinking that more and more tape labels start to do pro-dub stuff
Starting point is 02:04:42 because it's just as cost-effective. Right, and National Audio Company probably can't find those machines anywhere, More and more tape labels started to do pro-dub. Pro-dub tapes because it's just as cost effective. Right. And National Audio Company probably can't find those machines anywhere. Or maybe it's still not. They're not making those machines anymore. Yeah. Yeah. But we should get them on the horn.
Starting point is 02:04:56 Start dubbing your own tapes, people. I would like to know like. It's okay to dub your tapes at home. Like how their business has been affected by the underground tape scene. Positively. No, no, I mean exactly like the figures. Oh, you went there to break out spreadsheets.
Starting point is 02:05:15 Well, yeah, because the Baptist scene has gone down because now they've moved to CD because they were the primary people getting things dubbed. Actually, they were doing a lot of home dubbing. They weren't really getting things pro-dubbed, right? Well, they were still buying the cassette. They were still buying tapes. See, that apparently, if you just buy the tapes and the shells or whatever,
Starting point is 02:05:36 like not pro-dub, then it's not like a huge weight. Right, but getting them actually pro-dubbed is a long wait at this point. But I would like to see, like see like yeah monetarily how you know is it an impact is it making an impact you like okay you think they're mainly on their business yeah like yeah yeah i'm sure the the majority because at this point what else are they doing yeah probably not too much on the glory days are over like there's probably still the one guy who works there who's like at the break room and there's like the kid who's like interning and he's like you know back in my day we dubbing springsteen tapes every fucking day molly crew tape yeah they're like
Starting point is 02:06:16 all right frank you come i got some of the originals one weekend i had to tub two million molly crew tapes oh yeah and he's eating like a gross ass hot dog He's got like a copy one That he thinks is worth a lot of money Yeah yeah yeah He's like you fuckers today You don't even get it Alright what's
Starting point is 02:06:37 Did I give you the case for this What is this Rubber Wolf tape going to be called Janitor? It's going to be called C30 It's got a name on there in quotes jator oh jator it's not janitor i think i believe that's hungarian for janitor oh or like a child it's like a germanic language we have a word for it but i just rewound the tape i i'm assuming this is where it should be on side one two cold Oh. Well, this room's kind of hot.
Starting point is 02:07:05 It is hot. We need some cold listens in this room. All right, so here we are going out. It's going to take us out, right? Yeah, it's going to take us out. Tab's out.
Starting point is 02:07:11 Episode number seven. It was a bumpy one. Yeah, it was a bumpy ride, but we got through it together. And after six went so smooth, like we really thought six was smooth as shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:07:23 Yeah. Six? Yeah. Joe, take us out. Roman Wolf. Thank you. The power of the divine power is the power of the divine power. Thank you. The The The Thank you. so Thank you.
