Starting point is 00:00:00 What happens when two people who grew up in a very strange corner of Los Angeles look back and realize just how bizarre their upbringings really were? They start a podcast, of course. I'm Ashley Johnson. And I'm Talas and Jaffe. Before we became the internet people we are today, we spent our childhoods as working actors, appearing in shows like growing pains and films like Mr. Mom.
Starting point is 00:00:21 In our podcast, Weird Kids, we're diving deep into our unique upbringings, our friendship with each other, and all the delightfully odd interests we still carry with us today. In each episode, we get to share stories of our youth, the things that bring us joy, the problems that we face, and occasionally the friends we've collected along the way.
Starting point is 00:00:41 If you're a misfit, an outcast, or just a weirdo who loves all things nostalgic and unconventional, come take a seat at our table. Each week, we'll be releasing previously members-only episodes on YouTube and all major podcast platforms, with new episodes dropping exclusively and ad-free on beacon.tv. y'all wanted to tell you about another great podcast you thought y'all would love. Gestors of Ravenloft.
Starting point is 00:01:04 It's a podcast where a collection of comedians started a D&D campaign, only to find out that they are the characters and they've been sucked into the nightmare realm of Ravenloft. It's a DM by an award-winning game designer and voiceover actor with a cast made of professional comedians. Gestors of Ravenloft is a show that'll make you laugh no matter what horrors are happening to its characters. Even better, the cast had no idea they'll be playing themselves.
Starting point is 00:01:24 The series begins with a warm-up scene that was actually the start of the show, so the players begin their adventures wearing Chippendale vest, underwear and matching fedoras. It's produced by the same team behind the hit podcast, Dumb Dums and Dragons. You know the show has got to be amazing. It's got original content set within Ravenloft. It's a perfect show for DMs to learn how Ravenloft works, while also being totally spoiler-free for any players if they journey to Ravenloft in their own home games.
Starting point is 00:01:46 New episodes are recorded live on Twitch every Wednesday night and release this podcast every Friday and Saturday. You get two episodes every week, so that's twice the fun. I did the math. I listen an episode, and I think the Ravenloft world is really cool. I feel like it's, well, in my opinion, it's kind of underutilized. So I'm really happy to listen to them exploring that world and kind of showing it to people. Highly recommend you check it out.
Starting point is 00:02:05 You can listen to Juster of Ravenloft anywhere you listen to podcasts. Do you remember that feeling of your first critical hit? Are you one of those people who are getting ready to start that journey? Well, I have a show for you. It's called Girls Who Don't D&D because none of this all-female team of players has ever joined a D&D game before or any other role-playing game. They go from learning which dice is what to challenging the gods themselves. They're surrounded by a beautiful, chaotic environment that's been described as a cross between Terry Pratchett's Discworld and Douglas Adams, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and to World, you can be part of two.
Starting point is 00:02:34 That's because their listeners perform pre-recorded sections that fit into each show. Those parts and the rest of the show sound amazing with carefully added music and effects that bring a touch of the cinematic to your experience. It's kind of cool how they're complete amateurs when they started and they really progress. I think you can probably, you know, we can relate to that with Tales on a Stinky Dragon starting off kind of as newbies and then really learning the game as we go. I think that's a great way to approach it. And you can join this group of unassuming Australians, otherwise known as the girls who don't D&D,
Starting point is 00:02:59 on any device that lets you stream podcast, but I'm warning you, this one's addictive, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and very, very funny. Salutation, all you spirit trolls, incorporely moved in the stinky dragon and take a taste of our latest tea, regeneration hex. It's a mixture of ground terra merrick, a jow full of jinx ginger, whips of water, bottoless black pepper, hollow honey,
Starting point is 00:03:41 and topped with a squeeze of mind juice. One sip of this spectral sauce, and you'll find the heart haunts what it haunts. previous their adventure is shuffled into Shady Pines Hollow in shambles. They overheard some Moondarians out of sight, shadowed some shackled suburbians, and beandered into the mines to meet up with them. But now they've stumbled into a subterranean savage out of sorts. Cawbill a cup, and let's continue this Cicodra's Chronicle.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Hello, everyone, welcome to Tails and Mr. Sticky Dragon. I'm your adventure master Gustavus for Roland. I'm going to hit our four players with an arrow. And like an arrow, like a projecta or like a row of something? It's a row of an Excel spreadsheet. Get ready to run formulas. Just don't hit us with a column. This episode's our question is
Starting point is 00:04:51 What movie or series is next on your watch list? And that's submitted by oddly sporific. Oddly sporific. Sporific. Oddly sporific. There you go. I found it. Like spore and specific?
Starting point is 00:05:06 Apothecary. Apothecarium. 15. 16 for net. 17 for Doug. Four for Chris. So 17 Natty, 16, Doug, 15, toll,
Starting point is 00:05:21 four Gunther, is that correct? Yeah. I roll the four. What happened? I don't know, Barbara. He let out his exhale for the next hour is what he did. The one loud exhale for the hour. All right, Natty, you're up first.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Okay, hello. I am? Wait, I'm 17. Oh, on this, her birthday, Gustavo? If my math serves correctly, 17 is hired in 60. There you go, all right. For some reason, your role isn't showing up for me on D&DB. Oh, I did a physical die roll.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Ah, okay, that's why. Barbara, what kind of dice did you roll with there? That's a nice looking D20. Great question. Great question, Blaine. This D20 is part of the Diagem Dice set that you could get at Stinky DragonPod.com slash dice. You sure you just didn't bite it?
Starting point is 00:06:13 into like a rock and make your own? Well, that's my other set of dice. They don't roll very well. Her smiles just gums, just... There's teeth embedded into them too. It's weird. Well, hello, everyone. It's me, Doug Boone.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Happy to be here for another episode of Tales from a Stinky Dragon. And I am an artificial bugbear, by the way, in case you didn't know if this is the first time you're listening to any episode, then welcome. Maybe go back a little bit. Get some context.
Starting point is 00:06:41 No, just give them a recap right now. Doug? A whole bunch of stuff happened. We almost died a couple times. We somehow survived. We disguised ourselves a lot. We lied a lot. I could be describing any campaign, by the way.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Yeah, it's true. It's true. Yeah, pretty much, pretty much. And, you know, it might surprise you, but the next movie on my watch list is legally blonde. Oh. I've been going through the Reese Whitherspoon filmography, and, you know, you would think that the first movie I'd watch would be legally
Starting point is 00:07:11 blonde, but I've been saving the best ones for last. What'd you start with? Obviously, Sweet Home Alabama. That's like the only two that came to mind, so I can't think of another Reese Swinderspoon movie. There's not a whole lot, turned out. It's a short list. There's that one where she went hiking and gets lost.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Oh, yeah. That's like wild. Wild. Yeah. Walk the line. I think she also. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:35 She wasn't. You know, like, I also think it would be interesting to learn more about law. You know, and I think might as well learn it from the expert, L. Woods. So, you know, gonna get that queued up on my TV box. Here it's not that hard to get in a law school. Isn't there like a legally blonde verse? Like they have a, there's a sequel to that, right? Let's, no.
Starting point is 00:08:00 All right. Sorry, Chris. Forgive me. Please. Let me do my Chris impression. Sorry that we're talking about legally blonde for five minutes. That's what your turn in combat takes 12 minutes. Zing.
Starting point is 00:08:16 It's not about the movie. It's about Chris's ongoing hatred of Reese Witherspoon. Let's move on to the next person. He does have a historic beef with Reese. Does he not? Yeah, well, ever since she, you know, screwed me over in our business. If y'all are making up stuff, I'm going to make up stuff. I was waiting for context.
Starting point is 00:08:35 He prefers Reese without her spoon. Okay. He's more of a Wither Fork kind of guy. Oh, there we go. How did that work out, Chris, to keep us going by doing that? The fork bit was funny. Okay, thank you, Doug, for the unexpected dive into the Reeks-Witherspoon universe. That's a solid choice.
Starting point is 00:08:58 We have to fire it up on the old TV box myself, too. Barbara wants to watch that movie now that I've talked about it. No. I've seen it on Broadway. It's a good show. All right. Up next, we definitely have Natty. Hi, I'm John Rice here and I play Natty Wonder who is a drow warlock drag queen, also Mommy.
Starting point is 00:09:15 And I got a lot of movies on my watch list. I love watching them movies, especially like movie nights with my mamas. And there's a movie that it's so funny. You brought up Reese Witherspoon. There's another actor that I've been watching a lot of their movies. And I need to catch up on it because I've watched Ghost and I've watched Dirty. dancing and I've watched Donnie Darko and I've watched what was the one where like they all invaded America and then there was like the guerrilla war Red Dawn Wolverines Wolverine so I'm I'm ready
Starting point is 00:09:52 to watch two Wong Fu thanks for everything Julie Newmar which I hear is just a hoot and just a drive-along comedy with just three queens looking their best for two hours have you have you have You're not seen Tuong Fu? No, I've seen Tuong Fu. Okay, okay. It's next on Natty's list. It doesn't mean next on Natty's.
Starting point is 00:10:14 Next on John's list is some random movie someone's probably know you're heard of at this point. You know what movie I think Nadi would like, if she hasn't seen it yet? Romeo and Michelle is high school reunion. They're making a sequel to that. I love that movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Is it Romeo and Michelle go to the senior activity center? I think it's like a 20 or 30 year high school reunion, but either way. Dude. Love that movie. That was one of like my go-to, sleepover party movies as a kid. If you haven't seen it, go watch that movie.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Classic. Oh, yeah. Stop listening to this podcast. Go watch Romeo, Michelle. No. Pause the podcast. There you go. Listen to some ads first.
Starting point is 00:10:53 From us. Unless you're on our Patreon. Yeah, got to boost those numbers. All right, too Wong Fu, the movie with an incredibly long title, I always butcher. So I think everyone does. Just think of Catwoman from the Batman TV series. Earth a kid? No, what was Julie Newmark?
Starting point is 00:11:09 She was something. What was she in Batman? It might have been her too. I think there were a few different cat women. There was like three different cat women. Yeah, I think she was, but she was she was catwoman. Yeah. Okay, anyway, anyway, I'm doing way off. Way, way off topic. Chris is about to cut me off of if I keep going.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Next, we have Toll. I'm going to get the, what's it called the big hook? Take you off stage. Hello, it's me, Blaine Gibson. I play Toll the male thomotech barbarian level eight. Yoo! It's me. And, um, wow. I found a very significant,
Starting point is 00:11:40 an important piece of artistic film that I think everyone should watch and it was very close and near and dear to my heart. It is, of course, the film Robocop. I was going to say that. I was like, it can't be Robocop. Because Robocop's not a robot, he's a cyborg. Yes, but isn't that interesting, though,
Starting point is 00:11:59 because I am a robot who has adopted, like, cybernetic... I have adopted, like, biological parts, you know? but then Robocop is a biological man who then becomes a robot. It's like we are two mirror images of each other. I think a better one would be you watching men in black because there's a dude in there where's another dude's skin. Sugar. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:24 I mean, if we're speaking technically, it should be Terminator. That's correct. That's correct. Yeah. Well, either way, I love robots. I love the 80s. And Robocop is so good because it's not just about like, oh he's a cool cop
Starting point is 00:12:38 there's like there's like a message there about you know like rich people and companies and you should really give it a watch I could make you some robocop parts if you want really yeah just take just take uh Gunther's gun put it in
Starting point is 00:12:55 that's all he has John you're pri it from my cord dead and dead or alive you're coming with me They're always cold. You're a frog. That's true. Cold-blooded. Man, yeah, Robocop. I'd rent that for a dollar. And you probably can.
Starting point is 00:13:13 I'd buy that for a dog. Thank you, Toll. Rounding out the group, we have Gunther. Hi, I'm Krista Marysa. I play Gunther, the male group of fighter. And for me, there's this show. It is very good. It is about a family of blacksmiths.
Starting point is 00:13:30 And they are, they make them, they are so rich. They make so many weapons and swords. But then see the, the eldest, the father. He is old and they're going to retire. And so all the siblings, they are fighting each other and stabbing each other in the back, trying to get control of this blacksmith.
Starting point is 00:13:49 It's called sword session. Sword session? I was wondering where we were going with it, but we got there. We got there. Is this a real movie? No, no. It's a TV show, by the way,
Starting point is 00:14:01 and he's just making fun of succession. It's good. The prompt did say TV or movie. I will say I think Gunther's the only one who said a series. Well, you know, part of the filmography was also morning show by Reese Wetherspoon. I actually want to go back and talk more about Reese Wittlespoon. Can we do that, please? Oh, wait, Chris left the chat.
Starting point is 00:14:23 I really want to watch Sword Session, but you got to pay extra for that channel to be able to watch it. I just can't justify it. It's a good show. It's one of those prestige shows that you got to like, you got to pony up. the money for. Captain Grumble says he can get it for free somehow. That makes sense. That tracks. No, that is, that is good. That is, take an inspiration die. That's really good. He's a pirate. That's really good. That's good. Does it seem like the coldness is emanating from it? That's a good question. Make me a perception check to try to figure that out, I guess.
Starting point is 00:15:03 17. Oh, not a one anymore. Yeah. Take that, dice gods. It does not seem like it's emanating from that specifically. It seems to be coming from all the walls all around. Can we investigate the walls and see if there's something, is it like a magical coldness or just a coldness? Yeah, make another, make an investigation check.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Ah, 15. Okay, you begin, you know, to do. trying to circle around the room, looking for the source of the coldness, you know, just kind of like feeling around the walls, trying to ascertain if it's stronger in any one particular place than another. But it seems like it's radiating from every place equally. As you're, you know, exploring the wall and investigating it, you find a small alcove, like a small cutout in the wall. And as you look in there, you see what appears to be a deformed drow with devilish whore and staring at you angrily. Oh, it's the drought from the...
Starting point is 00:16:03 It's the draught from the thing! What thing? One more time. From the rock? Okay. The giraffe from the rock? Is it the same one? I said, you smell what is cooking?
Starting point is 00:16:13 It looks at you and it bears its teeth and growls. And almost like an animal-like movement, it leaps forward at you, Gunther, arms outstretched. Roll for initiative. The initiative is Gunther, you're up first or 25. Toll you follow was 16, then Doug was 16. Then your newfound friend, question mark. And then Natty was a four. And the guy, so I was searching around the thing,
Starting point is 00:16:41 and then the guy that was, his face was on the thing in the center. He's the guy that attacked us, right? His face was not on the thing in the center. There is a sigil carved in the center of the room, and the sigil looks like an elven face with devilish horns. Coincidentally, you find a dude in the alcove who appears to be some kind of like drow that's half mutated into a hulking brutish devil.
Starting point is 00:17:05 He has fiery red skin, and he's covered in barbs, and horns protrude from his body. So maybe they're cousins, maybe they're neighbors, but maybe they're the same person. I don't know. It's hard to say. I don't look like my cousins. Me neither. I look identical to my cousins.
Starting point is 00:17:19 I hate it. If you're listening to this, Jesse and Joey, hate you. This creature hisses at you menacingly, Gunther. Hey, we mean you no harm. Not full. We are friend. And I offer up a gun.
Starting point is 00:17:36 A gun. I offer up a pinky finger that I picked up from someone. Oh, someone else's pinky finger. Oh, I thought you were like, yeah, I thought Gunther was sticking out his pinky like a pinky promise. You have a literal pinky finger that you're carrying around? Yeah, I'm giving it to him. I was wondering where that went. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:57 We weren't expecting that, were you, Gus? No, I wasn't. Just so I know, where did you get this pinky finger from? this pinky finger. You know, I think I got it like two episodes back when someone exploded. I don't remember, you know. Okay. I just put pinky finger. Okay. It, uh, looks at you with rage in its eyes and looks at the pinky finger and begins sniffing at it, then recoils back and lets out a guttural like he's afraid of it? Make an insight check. Oh, 14, guys. It looks like it made him angry. Oh, he's a vegan.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Oh, maybe it's his friend. Do you know your friends from their pinky fingers? Yes. I don't know, maybe the type of finger it is is one of his kin. I'm sure if I saw all four of your pinky fingers, I would know exactly who each one belongs to. Blaine is now looking at his because he can't, he doesn't even know his own pinky fingers.
Starting point is 00:18:55 I bet mine are probably the hairiest. They are. You got some pretty hairy pinky fingers. Okay, now I hold up the pinky and I'm like, like, that is right. You better back down or else you will be out at your pinky to my collection. And now he brandishes his gun. Oh. So you hold up the pinky menacingly and brandish a weapon. Yeah. Make an intimidation check. All right. For the pinky or the gun? This one's intimidating. It's both. 12. 12. Okay. Oh. Oh, what? I have a maneuver called commanding presence. I want to make a charisma check intimidation performance.
Starting point is 00:19:32 or persuasion, I can expend one superiority die and add the superiority die to the ability check. Nice. Okay. Do you want to do that now, I assume? Yeah. What's the superior to already die? It's like a, it's like my little thing. It's a D8. A D8, okay.
Starting point is 00:19:45 Five. Not bad. 12 plus 5, 17. The creature hisses and takes half a step back. Now you'll stay here, we're leaving. Okay. I'm gonna assume that's your turn because now you've made two skill checks. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:00 And then can I just like leave to the go to the other? the exit and see if he stays. All right, so you're going to like take a step back towards the exit and start trying to lead your group out of there? Yeah, guns ready. The way Chris is posing right now, he's so stiff holding a fake gun in his hand. He's role-playing. Really into character.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Now we're stepping away. You stay here. Or I'll kill you. And that's a pinky promise. All right. All right. You take a step back. As you're stepping back, it lashes out with an arm.
Starting point is 00:20:32 trying to strike at you. Okay, do I dodge? Or do, what do I do? What do I do? It hits AC 18. Oh, misses 19. Wow. Okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:42 As you step back, you kind of see that it's telegraphing its maneuver and with its right arm, it lashes out where you were standing just a brief half second ago and you could feel the breeze of its miss across your face. Look how Gunther holds a gun, a pinky, and a shield all at once. Isn't that something? He's holding the gun sideways too. sideways too. Where did he learn that? It's a kill shot. Can I shoot him?
Starting point is 00:21:10 No, you were pretty much exhausting your turn at that point. But you do, you can make your move. You have your full range of movement if you do want to continue your move and make your way to the exit. So I guess I should ask you that. Did you want to continue the move or did you want to stop once he attacks? I'll scoot back because I was the one close to him.
Starting point is 00:21:27 I'll scoot back towards the door and see if he follows just in case he, you know, doesn't want to attack us. Yeah, he is currently not following. Cole, you're up. Okay, I will remove my pinky. And I'll go, don't you make me use this, foul beast back with you. And a big, big intimidation, like, ah, ah, sound like that guy from California.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Yeah. She had a video of that lady getting that. bear to go away by doing that. She was like on a walk with her dog like in a national park and a bear was coming. She was doing the whole like, ah, nah, like she was trying. It was successful. She Howard deemed him?
Starting point is 00:22:12 Yeah. Make an intimidation check for me, Toll. Okay. 16. How old a knot 12? A nat 12. You make your menacing movements and display, you flash your pinky at it and it just eyeing you.
Starting point is 00:22:29 You see its eyes dart around between all four of you. and its eyes seem to settle. Like, it seems to ignore you for a second toll, and it's I seem to settle on Natty. I'll make my way towards Gunther. Is this a situation where are we, like, in combat combat, where I can hold my action in case he reacts? So I'll say maybe, but to a limited extent.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Since you made an intimidation check, that's kind of your action already, and then you move. That's understood. It's kind of the same thing with Gunther. Okay, okay. I'm just laughing at that as Gus is, like, explaining that to you, and you're like, yeah, Chris's going, yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:23:02 After Chris tried to do like four things. No, no, I was just like, the reason makes sense. The T.M. is spoken. So just for future reference, I think since you're bringing it up, now, we will say that when you want to hold an action, typically what you do is you call out a trigger and then call out what you say will happen. Like, for example, in this case,
Starting point is 00:23:21 if the creature lunges at me, I will attack them, something like that. But, you know, of course, you already made your skill check and everything. So you can't do it this time, but in the future, you want to, that's how it would work. Now I know. Yeah. No one's half the battle. A little rainbow appears over at Blaine's head.
Starting point is 00:23:37 Well, we were quoting G.I. Joe. You're something else entirely. I don't know, man. G.I. Joe. All right. Doug. Work drop sandwiches. Has this creature said anything or like, do we know what language, basically, it speaks?
Starting point is 00:23:52 Memory serves. He said, oh, of course. That's too much. Committed too much to the voice. Yeah. Now I've got to use that as the official sound it makes. No, it all sounds guttural and you're not able to understand. Okay, so it's a language I don't speak, probably. If it's speaking a language at all.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Darn, I was going to try to read its thoughts, but I don't think I could do that if I don't speak its language. Could it just be a lot of... Yeah, can you read thoughts from something that doesn't speak? Because it's... You have to know the same language. And it looks... You said it looked deformed. Yeah, I'll reread it.
Starting point is 00:24:29 you since you're asking Barbara. It appears to be a drow half mutated into a hulking, brutish devil. It has fiery red skin. It's covered in barbs and has horns protruding from its body. Would you say that it kind of looks like infernice? I would say it kind of looks like infernice
Starting point is 00:24:44 in the same general way that all Undarians are kind of demonic. Maybe he got a botched surgery at Mesquettin from Grotes. But maybe they're transforming the drows into monsters. What were they calling in the... Plush warpers. Plus warpers.
Starting point is 00:25:00 So I imagine there's something going on here. I kind of feel bad for this guy, and I kind of want to help him, but I don't know if it's not our best interest. Pinky Promise you wrote him. Does it look injured? I'll just give it that one to you. I'm not going to make you roll for that. So it's hard to tell because you've never seen a creature that looks exactly like this, but it doesn't seem to have any wounds on it if that answers your question.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Maybe we smash the sigil. They return to the normal. Oh, interesting. We're still near that sigil, right? That's carved in the ground. Yeah, it's in the center of the room. Take a look at that. Yeah, you can walk over and take a look.
Starting point is 00:25:31 But like making a, avoiding this guy. Yeah, you weren't particularly close to him to begin with. It's more of a friend of a friend kind of thing. But, uh, so you don't have to worry about it. Hey Gus, inspiration day. Thank you. No. You walk up to the sigil in the center of the room and it does look like some kind of elven face with devilish horns.
Starting point is 00:25:53 The stone appears to be some kind of malachite. Malachite. What is that? It's a precious gem. So just as a reminder, just because it's, you know, it's been maybe a week or two since we recorded that episode, you're in the mine, and one of the things they do here at this area is they mine. Vizu gems.
Starting point is 00:26:12 These precious gems, yeah, visi gems, to then make cosmetics and other products. So this, it makes sense that this would be some kind of malachite, some kind of gem or ore that they would be potentially mining in this area. Gotcha. Okay. But, well, I guess I just, could I maybe send Gambot towards him to see if he's, like, going to try to attack Gambot? Like a bomb diffusal kit? I just want to see if he's, like, violent, you know.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Yeah, I want to see Doug outfitted in, like, the Hurt Locker outfit. That's a big suit. That's a big suit. He's, like, got a remote control and he's making Gambot go up slowly towards this. Walking with his arms, like, unable to go down. to his side. Okay, Gambo, whatever you do, do not cut the red wire. Gambot, like a little bit of oil, like sweat comes out from the top of his dome and
Starting point is 00:27:07 just dribbles down his forehead, what would be his forehead. He's colorblind. Oh no! Doug didn't spring for the RGB sensors in his eyes. He sees like a dog. Everything is kind of gray and yellow. Use your sense of smelled, Gambat. He doesn't have a nose.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Terrible. Gambat wheels up towards this creature and the creature just eyes it suspiciously as it gets closer to it. Could I then follow and also go up close to the creature? Yeah. What do you have in mind? And say, well, we're not violent. I just wanted to make sure you're okay and find out what happened to you. I don't know if you could understand me, but we're not here to hurt you. It's locked eyes with you and it's looking at you with like rage in its eyes. Okay. I'll take that as a no. Hopefully it doesn't rage against the movie. machine.
Starting point is 00:27:58 That's you. Wait, I was talking about Gamble. Yeah, you're the machine, though. Oh, God. Okay, well, I don't really know what to do here, so I think I'll just back away and try to continue outwards where Gunther kind of went. Okay, so kind of in the direction of the exit then.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Yeah. All right. It's that creature's turn, then after that creature, it's Natty. So at this point, Gunther, Tollve, and Doug have all gone, and the three of them are kind of retreating, not retreating, moving towards the exit, I would say. And that leaves Natty and this creature. With lightning fast speed, the creature moves towards Natty
Starting point is 00:28:36 and tries to leap onto her, to pin her to the ground. It's going to make a grapple check. So you can oppose it with either strength or dexterity, Natty. Well, we're going to go Dex. It's not probably going to happen. 14. 14. I'm rolling this, and it is plus 4.
Starting point is 00:28:55 That's what is my dude. That's a Nats and that 24. Hello. Out of nowhere, seemingly catching you off guard, the creature pounces on you, Natty, pins you to the ground and holds you down and as it's holding you down, it begins going through your bags. Hey, hey, you never do that to a woman's bag, okay? Oh my god, that guy's mugging Natty! He's got your tampons!
Starting point is 00:29:20 No! Uh... Yeah, it seems like it's... hunting for something, looking for something through your bag. And then as it's doing so, it pulls something out from your bag and holds it up to its face, sniffing it. Well, what is it? I gotta be able to see if it's pinning me down. The creature pulls out your chain reins of rustling.
Starting point is 00:29:40 What? Those are mine! What? Then it very quickly begins darting away. It jumps up, freeing you, begins darting back in the direction you all came from. What is it? Gigi, get them! Her chain reins of rustling. It's an item I got when we did the whole veil die.
Starting point is 00:29:55 and everybody got special gifts. What did they do? Do you remember? I haven't used them yet. They can call little buddies of my wife. Death's friends. That's terrifying. But Natty, it's your turn. Yeah, Gigi, get them.
Starting point is 00:30:07 After Nadi, we go back up to the top with Gunther and then Tull. So you send Gigi after this creature? Yeah, we've been... Oh, man, I feel like Natty would, like, train like those guys and have like a German word that would be Gigi's like retrieval thing, you know? But yeah, send Gigi. Okay, we're old at D20. Let's see if Gigi listens.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Oh, stupid, seven. Oh, Gigi's getting big. Giggy doesn't think Gigi has to listen to you anymore. No. Now, Gigi, listen to your mama. I give my inspiration day. Oh. An adolescence.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Well, that's an eight, so thank you, Tov. Oh, dang it. What do you need to pass it? 11. Could I use my slash of genius? Oh. A plus four to the rule. How many items can we use in order to get Nattie's child to listen to her?
Starting point is 00:31:01 It sounds like a cool item, but also I don't like thieves. You give me like what, a plus four? Was that one? Plus four. Okay, so 12. And how do you do that? What is your contribution? How do you use your flash of genius here, Doug?
Starting point is 00:31:14 Paint us a picture. Okay, Nattie, so the first thing you need to know about raising a child is that you just got to use a firm voice. Okay. Let me give you an example. Okay. Dickie, no. That's so good. No, Kiki.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Uh-oh. No, uh-oh. How is that? That commands respect. It seems to be working. He's heading off. He's wanting to tuck your chin. Take your chin in.
Starting point is 00:31:39 And so it makes your voice a lot deeper. Okay. We should all practice the Kiki. Kiki. No. Keket, no. Kiki. Guntzo doesn't have to do anything to make his voice out like that.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Perfectly done, Gumpth. That's because he don't have a name. I don't want a future where every company is one founder and a fleet of agents. When I first heard about Dummums and Dragons, just based on the name
Starting point is 00:34:02 I knew how to check it out. It's a podcast where professional improvisers and comedians played Dungeons and Dragons for the first time. It's kind of like Lord of the Rings if everyone, you know, was an idiot. With storytelling from an award-winning game designer and a cast made up of Second City trained improvisers, dumdums and Dragons is a show that'll make you laugh and might even make you cry. Dumb Dums and Dragons has been downloaded more than 4 million times, is charted as number two fiction podcasts in the United States.
Starting point is 00:34:27 It's so good it's been featured on the official Dungeon Dragons podcast, Dragon Talk. It's a trio of central heroes that are the zaniest, most lovable crew you can join, featuring Quinny, a thief who broke out of prison by serving his full sentence. Alan, a wizard who consistently forgets magic has consequences, and their mutual friend butthole, a cleric to the goddess, Moonhammer, who the other two think he made up. Dum Dums and Dragons is a perfect show to start if you're curious about how D&D works, or if you're a veteran player, you'll have a blast as this cast quickly picks up the rules
Starting point is 00:34:54 and their wild adventure begins. They have new episodes released every Monday. I lose an episode, and it's great. I think improv in D&D. is fantastic and I think these people are absolutely excellent at it and I think you should give it a try and you can listen to Dumb Dums and Dragons anywhere you listen to podcasts. Somewhat reluctantly, Gigi listens to you and begins following this creature.
Starting point is 00:35:23 What do you want Gigi to do? So what I think Gigi would do, so you tell me if like physically this is possible, Gigi would actually get in the way of their retreat so that the creature is between me and Gigi and Gigi's trying to like tell the creature bag up. And corral them. You know, that actually wouldn't happen. Giggy would go like full police dog and go for the arm to do it to do a drag down. That's kind of what I was thinking and what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Yeah, I was like playing that in my head. I was like, no, like just those images of like the dogs just taking those guys wearing those like little arm braces. Yeah. This is Biggie now. So he's going to want to use that size. It's like sending a mastiff after somebody. Yeah, all right, yeah, go ahead and make whatever role you think is appropriate for that. Giggy's attack is called Rend or, yeah, I think that's probably what I'd do.
Starting point is 00:36:17 You could do that. You could also maybe if you wanted to have him do like a grapple check. I'm just saying that because you gave the mental image of this dog taking someone down. It's totally up to you. You can do whatever you want. I would, but his strength is negative three. So he had a gross spurt and his strength is negative three. Is Gigi me?
Starting point is 00:36:36 Like, Teenage Me? None of his stats have changed. That's like me when I was 14. Yeah, you got size and no skill. Yeah, none of his stats have changed as he's grown. Maybe we can fix that for the next round. But not for now. It's negative three right now.
Starting point is 00:36:51 Okay, so he's just going to do a rend? I'll do rend because it would be like, it's a plus five. So it's closer. That's a 19 plus 5 is 24. Smashy smash. 24. Yeah, that hits. And so then Gigi does.
Starting point is 00:37:05 a little bit of damage. That's a four. Good, D4. Plus three, so it's seven slashing damage, and they are poisoned until the start of Gigi's next turn, which I think is like a disadvantage on attacks. Something like that. I'm going to make a note of that here.
Starting point is 00:37:21 He needs to write a book on parenting. That's great. Exactly. Digger. No. Okay. Yeah, Gigi lashes out rending at this creature who has somewhat of a puzzled look on its face
Starting point is 00:37:33 as it looks at Gigi. Trader. Could Natty then run up to them to the creature as Giggy has them kind of, you know, a little bit of a pit bull chomp on them? Sure. And be like, hey, give it back. The creature, you know, looks at you and looks at Giggy and seems to, like, tighten its grip on the chain reins of Ruston.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Natty will ready Eldridge Blasts in, like, her hands, but not fire them. So there's, like, crackling arcane. I'm not doing the pinky thing. You guys are crazy. You guys are crazy. You guys are crazy. It's not a pinky. He showed a dismembered human part to someone.
Starting point is 00:38:12 That's a normal reaction. Pinky. Come on, the rule of three. We're so close. Maddie points are pinky and says, I elders blast you with this pinky if you don't get in my chain reins of rustling. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Yeah, the creature pulls the chain reins of rustling tighter closer to its body. Okay. Well, you not even let me do like an intent. intimidation check or anything? Not for this. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Then I guess Nanny would shoot him. You know, you can't just call him a bluff and then like I can't do it. Yeah. You know, you stole from Nattie and you won't give it back. So I'll just blast you with the D20 plus seven, 13 plus seven dirty 20. Plus bonus for pinky uses. That's like additional three, right goes? Isn't that like Kung Fu Panda where he's got like the pinky thing and his scudush and then like blows up?
Starting point is 00:39:05 The snow leopard? Never saw Kung Fu Panda. I'm sure a lot of our audience has. I feel like our audience is a Kung Fu Panda audience. It's popular. That's a great movie. Yeah, very popular. Okay, yeah, it's, I'll just go and tell you.
Starting point is 00:39:19 AC is only 12. Cool. It's easy to hit. All right, I roll 3 plus 7 plus 3, so that's 10 for extra thunder damage. And so 10 total. You hit it with the Eldridge Blast, and it kind of recoils. somewhat in pain. And then lightning quick, it rushes straight at you. Stop it!
Starting point is 00:39:41 It picks up Giggy and swings Giggy hitting you with Giggy. What, stop it! Don't beat me with my child! Doing 36 points of damage. Don't almost kill me with my child. Oh, to both you and Giggy. Oh. Don't almost kill me and my child with my child. Split in half or each?
Starting point is 00:40:00 No, each. Yikes. I'm called child services. Yikes. Okay. Well, boys, we haven't changed any Gigi's stats. So Gigi still has 30 HP. So 36 would take Gigi down to negative 6.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Oh, no. So what do you want to do about that? Because Giggie's going on to his other mom. Giggy's about to get some more scars. Bye, Gigi. Could he eat his own soul? Is that a thing he could do? Okay, so he hits you over the head with Gigi.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Giggy lets out a Yelp and falls to the ground, not moving. Okay. I need to, so this is how I'm not happy. I'm not happy. Do you have anything you could cure him with? She already used Eldridge Blast. I'm not sure if she has anything else available, any other actions available at this point.
Starting point is 00:40:42 All that I can do, well, then I'll do what I can do. I can do two Eldrous Blast. I'm going to shoot this guy for doing that. Okay. I might as well do it and then have to figure out how to resurrect my child for the second time. So anyway, I started blasting. Anyways. That's a 24.
Starting point is 00:41:00 That hits. All right. That's an eight that time. Plus four, that's 12, plus, I think, three again. So 15. Is this with the pinky or the index finger? Just full hand, then. Oh, Iron Man, like repulsory.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Yeah, you let out an Elders blast, and it strikes this creature that's in front of you, and it, like, knocks it off of its feet, and it falls back to the ground on its back, unmoving. Okay. Okay. Hold just goes to kick it because he dirty Giggy. Yeah. Nettie grabs Giggy and takes him over and just goes, Biggie, take the soul. Quick.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Quick, take the soul, Gigi. Gigi. And she starts trying to waft whatever is there towards him. She can't tell. I'll say that you see this creature's soul start to leave its body and then like a magnet or a vacuum. It gets sucked into Gigi. And what happened?
Starting point is 00:41:50 Gigi's eyes flutter open. We'll say he has one hit point. However, that being said, meta-game-wise, Gigi now requires two souls every session. Oh, good Lord. Oh, gosh. It's too much murder. I mean, maybe it's his time.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Oh, Nadi would look at you with the look of a thousand sons. I mean, but like, you know, to go see the other parent, you know, you got to share custody. Maybe split some time, you know. He's got a job to do first. Yeah, but the job is like, it's such a big job. Is it, do we want it really? I mean, when you think about it. And Naddy, I mean, being a mom is so hard.
Starting point is 00:42:36 You just need some time off. Let death take care, and then you can take a little bit of a breather. A couple of margaritas. Yeah, the world does not need to end so quick, right? And I mean, if Gigi needs a chaperone and Captain Grumbles could take him, no. Real question to Gus, they're all clumped together, right? Yeah, they all are by the exit. Okay, Natty briefly cast mode of hell on her entire part.
Starting point is 00:43:03 Oh, Mike, just a snap to the feet. And just goes, all right, and they can take damage from that. I don't care. That's the point. The three of my party were telling me I should let my child die. And Natty's like, no. You. Oh, he's talk about, oh, it's an honor to go see death and all this stuff.
Starting point is 00:43:20 To die. Yeah, it's so great, so frivolousy. Natty snaps again and does another mode of hell. It's like when the teacher flicks the lights to get everyone's attention. That always worked. Or any animations when they have like one blip of a frame that just pops up and goes away. So good. Are you rolling damage?
Starting point is 00:43:41 No, no, no. That's me. That's for me. Not everything's about you. Sometimes I roll for me. Because I love the dice from Stingodogadogapod.com slash dice. What a shill. Oh, he's such a good shill.
Starting point is 00:43:52 Did we take damage from that? No, no. We'll say that it's so brief and so quick that you don't take any damage from it. But you do hear the screams of hell in your ears twice. Twice. You like organ music, very... I'm gonna remind you all something. You all have your own quests and objectives
Starting point is 00:44:13 and things that you're supposed to be doing in order to fulfill your lives. I got one thing. And it's that little guy right there taking care of him. That is my entire world. That is my entire... I'm so little anymore.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Tov? What? I found your off button. I found your off button. And I haven't used it yet. Okay. Natty, I respect that so much that you care for your boy. I just wonder, do we need the world to end?
Starting point is 00:44:43 Yes. We're not having this conversation right now about whether or not I should let my child die. We're not doing that right now. No, well, no, no, no, Darren, don't have to be the same thing. Your child can live, but do we have to end the world? Yeah. Can we at least wait until I find my other brothers and sisters? Yeah, because if the world ends, then that all of our quest would then be for not, or not be in, you see, like, I just...
Starting point is 00:45:08 That's not for me. That's not for me to decide, though. That's not for me to decide. I was told, is your son take care of your son, so I take care of this son. In the world. That's his job, and I'm taking care of him so he can then do his job. Hmm. I've seen Rosemary's baby. Okay, maybe we're approaching this wrong. Maybe we need to give it this giggy that they should not. in the world. Maybe that's...
Starting point is 00:45:31 Sure. We talk to Gigi. By all means. I'm just saying, I have seven other... Gigi. This world is a good place. Look at this. And I cut off a pinky from that...
Starting point is 00:45:41 Oh my God. And hand it to him. There's so many pinkies in this world. That's the name of this episode. Pinkies, pinkies everywhere. All right. If he doesn't take the pinky, I'll take it. So do I need to find two more souls?
Starting point is 00:45:51 This count for one that he needed today. One more. That counts as one. Okay, thank you. When you take the pinky back, Gunther, you notice something bizarre. Uh-huh. The helmet that Giggy was
Starting point is 00:46:00 wearing is now molded into his head. He's big. He's got like horns protruding because it was a horned helmet. The helmet is now part of his head and he's got even more, even bigger horns on his head now. Does that look at all like the drow who had the horns? I was thinking more like Darth Mall. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:46:17 It's like a ring of horns. So is there still a helmet on Giggy's head or has it then just been like absorbed by him? It's been absorbed and joined into his head. What about the sigil on the ground? I thought you said it was like, was it glowing green? Or am I crazy? It was a green gemstone. Like, it was Malachi.
Starting point is 00:46:40 It's not how I say it. Malachite. Thank you. Is it still there? Does it look like it's been changed since we've taken out this guy? It looks the same to you. Kind of shatter it with my gavel of Galestrum. Yeah, you can attack it and see what happens.
Starting point is 00:46:57 Okay. Not much else to do. So just give it a whole. A dirty 20. That would work, so go ahead and roll some damage. I'm going to two-handed. That's a... 10 plus three.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Yeah, you bring your gavel of Gailstrom down with a mighty strike, and it hits right in the center, creating large fissures that quickly spread and shatter, and the entire sigil breaks apart, releasing some kind of eldritch energy that engulfs you doing 10 points of fire damage. You think I would have learned my lesson after killing those three dudes last round.
Starting point is 00:47:32 When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Yeah. Couldn't have said it better myself. Did that seem to have any impact on the other guy? Was there any sort of magical connection? He's dead. Yeah, I know. There seems to be no change in the corpse.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Okay. Well, Natty takes back her chain reins of rustling, of course. Yeah, you approach the creature and retrieve your chain reins of rustling. And as you're doing so, a couple of other items fall out from the crew. creature. He's a little klepto. What's he got? You find four poison barbs and... Barb. Seven gold pieces. Barbra. No.
Starting point is 00:48:09 I'm the only poison barb. Describe these gold barbs. Like, you said he was... Poison barbs. Yeah. Oh, sorry. You said he was covered in them. Are these the same things that he was covered in? Yes. They fall off of his body. Yeah. Okay. So he's molten. Okay. Well, uh, I'll put those in my little, my little purse.
Starting point is 00:48:28 and suggest we move on through this dungeon. Don't reach into Natty's purse without looking, guys, just as a heads up. That's always a bad idea. So you all want to continue, and you're team leader, if I recall, properly. Correct, Natty? Yeah. All right, so you all decide to leave this room. Up next is 12.
Starting point is 00:48:49 And just as a reminder, we have two clear path cards, and before you, you see a left, center, and right path, and you have all of your actions available to you. Okay. Run recon. That's what I'll do, run recon. So you can run recon, and just as a reminder for everyone, that allows you to draw, if you make a successful dexterity check,
Starting point is 00:49:12 that allows you to draw three cards from the deck, choose one to place on top of the deck, then the other two are shuffled back into the deck. So describe to me how are you going to run recon exactly? Like, what is Tov doing? Okay, well, I have now flipped out of my spider mode, So my head is where it's supposed to be my arms and my legs have clicked back in. What about your pinkies?
Starting point is 00:49:29 All intact. We put those back. We learned our lesson after the guy almost killed Giggy. I still don't know why that's spider mode, by the way. Because I looked like a bit of a spider. You know, like I'm just like crawling around like spider-like. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:41 You're back to normal configuration, the standard factory configuration. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And now I am, oh, whoop. I'm like jumping. I'm doing front flips. I'm doing barrel rolls. I'm doing back flips. I'm like searching around.
Starting point is 00:49:55 around. I'm searching for clues because after that sigil and after busting that sigil, I'm on the lookout. I want to make sure there's no more dangerous things that are going to catch me on fire. Okay. Make a dexterity check to see if anything catches you on fire. Okay. Eight. It was a 13 and then it rolled over. Dang. You look around and maybe you're just overwhelmed with being back to your default configuration and doing your front flips and your backflips. Don't forget the barrel rolls. The fact you didn't use a dye, a gem dye, it just does not work out for you.
Starting point is 00:50:25 You're just unable to successfully make the check. You're unable to glean any further information to aid you in your discovery. Perfect. I just like to imagine I stand up and then I trapdoor just. I thought if you rolled a one, I was going to have you actually catch fire again. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That didn't happen. We all knew that.
Starting point is 00:50:47 So, all right, what path do you want to take here, toll? Center. You go down the center path. But I'm doing the Zelda 64 thing where I'm just going hip, up, hip, hip, hip, hip, and I'm just barrel, barrel, barrel, barrel. It makes you go faster.
Starting point is 00:51:03 It's science. Actually, in Zelda, if you do a backflip or back run, you actually can go faster. Yeah. I think it's Mario. No, it's in Zelda. No, Zelda 664. Yeah, that's why, like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:16 Speed runners. Yeah. You go down the center path, and as you're going through, the path begins becoming filled with storage bins. and all-terrain mine cars. And each cart is loaded with rocks, minerals, and gems. As in he enters a room that's filled with them,
Starting point is 00:51:34 or the room is filling up with them? Like, as you're going, you start to encounter them, I should say. Okay. The way you made that picture was like, ah, they're appearing and filling up the room. So Grandin's daughter, the pop-up. You begin encountering them, I guess I should say, in the path as you're going through.
Starting point is 00:51:50 And then as you're making your way through, between two of the storage bins, you find a dretch who seems to be having trouble keeping his feet beneath him. Okay, remind me again, Dretches. Dredians. Right, but were they like... Gorilla-like. So, yeah, but were we able to communicate with him in the past? I think so.
Starting point is 00:52:07 Okay. They speak abyssal. And I think it was Gunther had to be your go-between, if I remember right, to talk to them. Okay. O'al-Luca-to. Un-Luca-Luca-too. That's pretty good. The fact that makes you laugh every single time, Gus, you're such a pure little soul.
Starting point is 00:52:24 Well, one, I think it's funny. And then two, I think it's even funnier when it's in Gunther's voice. It sounds like, uh, not in Chargervings. Jabba. Jabba. Jabba the Hut. Yeah, yeah, absolutely does. So you said his foot was caught or something?
Starting point is 00:52:37 It seems like he can't get his feet under him. Like, he's kind of stumbling a little bit. Oh, no, I kind of feel bad. He's drunk. Oh, you think so? Unka-Lunkah-Lunkato. Oh, Kulungatoo. Uh, Gunther, needs some translation over here.
Starting point is 00:52:50 Just say what I say, which is in, yeah. Hello, my name is Tollv. What is your name? How gone, Dean, who? I'm going to say it, and then I'll flack it to you, Chris, and then you can be the go-between. What did he say? What did he say?
Starting point is 00:53:18 He said, ha-ha, I am ripped. Oh, Chet, let's have a drink. He wants to have a drink? He wants to drink? Do you see, are there any beverages around? He has a wine skin with him. Then after talking, he takes a long chug from it. Is he offering, or is he just, like, wanting to drink on his own?
Starting point is 00:53:38 He's expecting me to bring my... He said, he said, drink with me. Are you offering your wine to me? So ding, dingong, don't know. Oh, don't know me. And he shoves the wine skin out in your chest. Okay. I guess so.
Starting point is 00:53:53 Okay. Uh, all right. Well, what are we cheersing to? Wang Kuiha! Sing bong-gong-gong-gong-gong. He sounds Korean. I don't know. It just sounds, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:54:07 You say Korean? Because I could translate. To everlasting wealth. Oh, that, uh, Mm-hmm. Behind him. Yep, there we go. Down the hatch.
Starting point is 00:54:18 And then I go literally down my hatch. A little bit more chah, ha. A chahim. There you go. Did I drink? Njonga, digan, gunga. What does that mean? Did I just drink like some sort of cat urine or something?
Starting point is 00:54:32 To the demise of the drought. Oh, at that, I stopped drinking and I, I pour the wine out of the thing. Yeah, I, I say, no, no, no, that's bad. Translate that, translate that. He said, why do you do that? Because my homie's a drow. Look at her. You don't know, I love the...
Starting point is 00:54:59 What do we say? We're pouring one out for, you know. No, I'm not pouring one out. I'm... I disagree. I do not. Cheers to the demise of the drought. The trow are lovely.
Starting point is 00:55:11 Well, actually, are they, though, because they want to end the world. Maybe you're on to something, Naddy. Never mind. Maybe we just like... Ah, ha, ha. And I give a thumbs up. One moment, kind of...
Starting point is 00:55:22 Yeah, yeah. Do you want to to fight this person? I know. We don't need to fight him. He's drunk. Just let me... You know, he's not doing anybody
Starting point is 00:55:30 any harm right now. I don't agree with his opinions. Why don't we say if you're a drinking contest and make him drink it all? Then he'll... Why don't you ask him why they want to have the demise of the drought? Oh, that's a good question.
Starting point is 00:55:44 I mean, he can't have mose on to something with this drinking game, though. But Doug's probably right. Okay, uh, yes, tell me why we are drinking to the demise of the drow. Hmm. Hmm. Yes. Oh, go and do the kadu. Kadoo.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Yes. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Dingo. Did he just say dinga? How dare. He says that and pulls out another wine skin from one of the crates. Oh my god. He said what a joker. Let's drink more.
Starting point is 00:56:20 He has the wine skin in his left hand. Then in his right hand, he begins rubbing his eyes. And then blinks and looks at you a couple of times, intently, Gunther. Intently? Yeah. Like, do I get a sense that he's, like, alarmed or in love? Into me? Or, like, maybe he's seeing four of you.
Starting point is 00:56:38 He said, he said I'm kind of short for a dretch. Yes. Goin chintur, paka, kuh. What did you say back? What did you say back? I said, Yes, you're making me feel self-conscious.
Starting point is 00:56:55 I have, my pituitary glands are not functioning correctly. That's what I have. That's what John has. That is advanced abyssal. Yeah, what's pituitary gland? You know how to say pituitary? You freak.
Starting point is 00:57:14 Incredible language. Hell, I look, real sad. God, I wish. We had a recording of Chris going, Mm-hmm. We do. We're recording. This is an audio podcast.
Starting point is 00:57:28 Yeah, but we have it. We can put it out on a social. I'll say Tov and Gunther, both of you make me Constitution saving throws. Okay. 23.
Starting point is 00:57:41 22. Very good. We can hold our liquor. You begin getting overwhelmed with a, like, a wretched stench that seems to be emanating from this drette. And you begin coughing uncontrollably. And both of you fall to the ground coughing.
Starting point is 00:57:55 Oh. Was he farting? Something, some kind of noxious fumes are coming off of him. Dunga, duga, duga. Oh. He took a dunga wunga. It smells like it. He took a chumbo-wamba.
Starting point is 00:58:12 You are not dretch. I tapu-a-tube-cum-for-d-do. From my father's side I am. Do it coughing, though. Got a little pooching too. Put a little pooch in there. I'm going to roll a D20. Okay.
Starting point is 00:58:30 I'll let you all see it. Low is bad for you, high is good for you. Two. Yeah, that's bad for you. Oh, bad. What? Yeah. It slashes out at you, Gunther.
Starting point is 00:58:40 It's no longer buying the charade. It's only matter of time. Don't da coutur to kill. And you're prone. So what is that? Die. I was just saying he wasn't even thinking
Starting point is 00:58:51 he's just saying that's all the sounds he's just making sounds you're a bully who picks on those who are different it has advantage because you're prone so it hits a 22 would it not have any type of disadvantage because it's drunk
Starting point is 00:59:06 you're right we would even that out then so it would use the first I watched drunken master Jackie Chan did a lot of good fighting he does not have a drunken master traits so we'll use the first eye roll which is seven and plus three, it's a 10.
Starting point is 00:59:19 So I assume that's a miss. Yeah, it tries to slash out at you. It does not hit you. It strikes at the air next to you, presumably at one of the three Gunther's that it sees in front of it. And he kind of stumbles backwards. Nunga, nunga-jum-d-d-d-g-dha.
Starting point is 00:59:36 Transcription of this episode is going to be very funny to read. He said, you leave now. I want to drink. I've heard enough of this guy. You're a bigot, and I don't like your view. of the drow. I want you to say that coughing. You're a bigot.
Starting point is 00:59:55 He's not have lungs, though. You know, I wait, hold on. Am I immune to poison stuff? Hold on now. Where's my, I have something about swimmies. I can swim, and I'm assuming that that extends to lung capacity or something. But you might have exhaust ports that still, like, taken. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:11 Yeah, yeah, you're right. You're right. Maybe they get clouded up with farts or something. I'm going to start calling my lungs, my exhaust. exhaust ports. I have a different exhaust port. One large exhaust port. Huh?
Starting point is 01:00:28 Well, fine, fine, I'm pushing it too much. I don't like you. I call off. I say we get out of here. I stand up and I drag Gunther with me. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:40 Oh, God, to be gumbo. Tiki. Dikish. What does that mean? I was just relaying what is it. Oh, oh, gotcha, got you. And then I added in for myself,
Starting point is 01:00:51 Bokabit, boopit. You can't handle your alcohol. I bet you can't drink the rest of that. It picks up the wine skin and begins chugging it, trying to empty it. Wait, if we stick a lounge long enough, you might alcohol poison himself to death, and then Gigi can have another soul.
Starting point is 01:01:07 But be Gigi does need another soul. So what's it? Does it chug it all? Yeah, it chugs it all. Okay, boca bit it. I say, Like a baby Are you all leaving or not?
Starting point is 01:01:22 You all said you're leaving and you're still engaging. Natty's gone, Maddie's gone. Yeah, we'll leave, we'll leave. Enough of this guy. Okay. You all continue on your way as this stretch continues losing itself into this wine skin.
Starting point is 01:01:36 Okay, he has a problem. Yeah. Many problems. He does. Dummubs and Dice would like to welcome you to the grim darkness of the 41st millennium in the Valentine's Heresy, a Warhammer 40K RPG podcast, where professional improvisers play the Genesis adaptation

Up next is, that was told. So up next is Doug and then Natty. Okay. So what, it's been a second.
Starting point is 01:04:31 So what are the options? Yeah. So you have all three options available to you, left, center, and right. As well as any of the actions you can take if you want to, such as Pioneer Path, run recon, get gutsy, optimize options, peruse pitfalls or bolster buddy. Let's do peruse pitfalls. Peruse pitfalls. Peruse pitfalls. So how are you going to do that?
Starting point is 01:04:55 What kind of wisdom check are you going to make? How does Doug approach that? I'm going to read one of his books. Well, what am I seeing? So you have, you know, you're in this mind. You have three options in front of you, left, center, right. You tell me, like, how do you want to engage that? I'm going to open one of my books on statistics.
Starting point is 01:05:16 And specifically the section about multiple choice. And what typically, between one, two, and three, typically is the best choice. There surely is a section in my book about that. I think it's probably related to the Moni Hall problem somehow. So this allows you to reveal two cards. That's such a dated reference. That's what it's called.
Starting point is 01:05:39 Oh, okay. It is based on a him? Yeah. Oh, how funny. This allows you to reveal two cards in the river. Choose one to discard, shuffle the two remaining cards, and place them face down in the river. So go ahead and make me, it's some kind of wisdom.
Starting point is 01:05:54 check. If you're reading books, trying to get it, I guess make a, we'll call it an insight check. Not like a history check? History is intelligence-based. And you do improve pitfalls, which is wisdom. Wisdom, okay. Insight. Coming in, that is an 18. Oh, that is successful. So you are able to reveal two cards in the river. Which two do you want to reveal? The center and left. Okay. Okay. Left is Clear Path, center is Wanderer. So you can choose one to discard, and then we shuffle the two remaining cards. I'll choose the center one to discard.
Starting point is 01:06:32 All right, so you're discarding Wanderer. Clear Path goes face down, and they get shuffled up. Those are two, or did you add a third? There is a third one added in. That's what I thought. But you just know one out of those three are now clear. Correct. At least one.
Starting point is 01:06:46 There might be more down there that we just never saw. Ooh. Okay. But it got shuffled and put back in a new spot. Yeah, you don't know where it is. Or maybe it's the same spot. They got shuffled. I don't even know.
Starting point is 01:06:57 You know, maybe it is. Let's do the left. Alright. Somewhere Khyborg is smiling down on you. Because he's dead. What? Don't worry, he went to heaven. Why's so hot?
Starting point is 01:07:12 And why is there a lawyer here? Nice. You go down the left path, and as you are proceeding, your way down left, it begins getting hotter and hotter. You feel like heat just growing in intensity. Eventually, this corridor opens up into a ziggurat-shaped cavern. It's stifling hot.
Starting point is 01:07:35 There's a triangle carved on a green stone ground with a redstone sigil in the center. And all around you, you see various drow being forced to work. They're beaten, burned, and shackled together by blackened chains. Dretches and Dementhrals patrol the area. So I imagine that was the right path card.
Starting point is 01:07:54 Correct. Metagame-wise, that is your third clear path, and you have found your goal. We did it! Let's celebrate! Oh! This is depressing. Yeah, it's a real temple and doom vibes. Bummer.
Starting point is 01:08:07 So you described it as a ziger? Like, is it just a big old, like, shaft? Like a open, like, towering chasm? Yeah. I wouldn't say it's a shaft necessarily, but it's, like, kind of carved in. Kind of like you imagine the empty void of the, mine is like a ziggarot. Okay.
Starting point is 01:08:24 Okay. It's like carved out in layers. You only have seconds to act and to decide what to do before being discovered. Well, if I might, Yeah, go quick. Nadi, you take a moment to think. All right, so Nettie, you take a moment to think. Do you want me to reread the room description since it's been a second here?
Starting point is 01:08:40 Yeah, why not? It's been a bit. Yeah. So you find yourself in a ziggurat shaped cavern. It's stiflingly hot. There's a triangle carved on green stone ground with a redstone sidel in the center. Similar to previously, the sigil the sigil looks like an elven face with devilish horns.
Starting point is 01:08:54 Okay, and I think you said there were some drow miners in here? Yeah, like you saw in the previous episode, there's some drow that are, they look tired, beaten, and burned. They're shackled together by blackened chains, and they're being forced to work by some dretches and dameongrels that are patrolling the area. And you had merely seconds to act before you're discovered, but you're taking a moment to think now.
Starting point is 01:09:17 Yeah, well, since we've got a moment, could you tell me how many dretches, and DeMongrels we're looking at here. Sure. And I'll add down to it, does anybody appear to be of a different rank, larger nature, do they have a drill for a hand?
Starting point is 01:09:32 Who's holding the whip? Also, Toll knows that at this point, Natty does the timeout thing, so he knows and he looks at her, he freezes while waving. So, like, while you're, like, scanning the environment, so wouldn't imagine you see Tollb, like... Wouldn't we already be frozen?
Starting point is 01:09:46 Yeah, you're already frozen. Are you going to know? No, you don't get to. He's got robot computer processing powers, His overclocking protocol allows him to move faster. So yeah, you don't stop, you just slow down. It's like when you hit the turbo button on an old computer in the 90s and it slows the processor down.
Starting point is 01:10:02 Anybody come on the other one? Okay. I remember that. You look around and you see those same ones that you saw earlier. It's about 20 drow, four dredges, and six demongrels. Okay, like their little entourage that we were following. Yeah. Okay, last question.
Starting point is 01:10:18 Natty would look for Mamas. slash people she recognizes. Make a, we'll call it an investigation check. I think you said with advantage? I did not. Dang it, 13. I don't think I have anything. I have a plus 1, so 14.
Starting point is 01:10:35 Thank you very much. You look around and you do not see any mamas. No sign of the mamas here. What about papas? All papas. All papas. All paas. Okay.
Starting point is 01:10:47 Then Natty would look towards her part. who is at this entrance of this like Ziggarot thing and would look to see is there somewhere Natty when she brings back time could shove them behind to hide us like a rock roll me a luck check just roll a D20 and tell me what the result is that's one no all the area's been carved out where you are standing currently there is nothing that could provide your cover okay Natty goes back to where she was standing brings back time and goes there's a bunch of dredges and demongas that way and then my mama aren't in here and we're probably probably going to be in a fight because there's nowhere to hide.
Starting point is 01:11:23 Okay. We might as well get some surprise attacks. And then Natty shoots one of the dredges with an Eldridge blast. Yeah, I was going to rear up and aim for another with my hammer. She like spits out all that says, it says, we're going to fight and she shoots the or Eldridge blast at those dredges. Okay. Do you all want to roll initiative or you want to reuse the same one that we have currently?
Starting point is 01:11:43 Doesn't matter. Not for you. We can do the same one. Yeah. We'll stick with the same one. All right, Natty. You target some of the dretches you said? Yeah, would everyone's closest.
Starting point is 01:11:52 I mean, you should leave that from me because I, you know, you got distance, girl. You know, I got to run up to a little awkward, like. Okay, then I shoot the, I shoot the furthest one possible. Thank you. Oh, that's too far. That one's across the Zagrott. That's not even near dangerous for us. I shoot Tov.
Starting point is 01:12:10 That's your first mistake because I'm not even one of that guys. Are we playing Baldur's Gate? All right, yeah, you lit out an Eldrish Blastfly at one of the dretches. Go ahead and roll your attack roll. 15 plus, I think it's like seven, so 22. That hits. Excellent. The D-10, 4 plus 4 plus 3 is 11.
Starting point is 01:12:31 Yeah, so 11 points of damage at one of the dretches. Yeah, your Elders Blast flies through, and the dretches aren't even looking in your direction. And one of them gets hit square in the back of the head by this Elders Blast, and it falls face forward onto the ground unmoving. That's cool. My name is Nanny Wonder, and you all mess with the wrong queen. No, they know what I'm saying. Make me an intimidation check, Natty.
Starting point is 01:12:59 Natty has a plus four with intimidation, rolled an 11th of 15. You know, you caught one of these dretches off guard, knocked it to the ground. You come out, trying to do your best to intimidate them. What I'm going to do here is I'm going to roll what we call a morale check for the enemies to see whether they stick around or whether they flee. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. We've done that before. So I'm going to roll it here so you all can see it. I'm going to roll 2D6.
Starting point is 01:13:21 We're going to roll for the dretches here, the remaining ones. The dwech is a four. Their morale is ten. Okay. And then I'm going to roll for the Dementrilles here. The Dymongrills see what happened, and they all tuck tail and immediately take off running out of the corridor in the other direction. The dretches, however, turn around and see you. And they let out a row, and they seem ready to engage with you.
Starting point is 01:13:44 That's fine. I didn't feel like killing any dogs today. But gorillas are on the menu. All right. Is there anything else you want to do, Natty? Do I get to shoot my second Eldridge Blass I get to take with every action I do? Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:13:54 Okay, then I'll just do it real quick. That's a 14? That hits. That's exactly what you need. They have AC 14. And that's six points of four standpoint. Okay. After this one turns around, it looks at you.
Starting point is 01:14:05 You know, you see that they're not moving, they're not running. You loud out another Eldridge blast, which flies straight into the stretch and hits it in the fake, and it winces, but it turns back and looks at you and growls. She growls back. It's a good growl. Gunther. You're up next and after Gunther, Toll, Doug, and then the dredges.
Starting point is 01:14:22 There's a sigil on the ground again, right? You said, like a red one? There is a triangle carved on greenstone ground with a redstone sigil in the center. Are they near it? I'll say no. They were off to the side because they were supervising the drow who were chained up. I'm going to shoot it. Can I shoot it?
Starting point is 01:14:41 The sigil? Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. In case it gives them power or something. All right, yeah. You can't spell Gunther without gun. Go ahead and make that attack roll.
Starting point is 01:14:52 20. You take aim with the pistol and fire at the sizzle and the bullet flies forth successfully striking the sigil doing how much damage. That's 14. Okay. The bullet strikes the sigil doing 14 points of damage. And similar to how you saw before,
Starting point is 01:15:12 cracks very quickly begin to form in the sigil and it shatters, releasing Eldridge energy in a sphere around it, but there's no one standing in the sphere this time. And you know that if someone was standing, or Tov knows if someone was standing there, that they'd be taking some damage from that. He winces.
Starting point is 01:15:29 And that's it. Okay. I don't think I can shoot it twice. Okay. That is it for Gunther. So up next Toll, and then Doug after that. He shot that thing. If I did like a quick, like, I don't know,
Starting point is 01:15:41 Arcona check, is that going to mess with my ability to attack? I'll say you can do it as a bonus action. No, I guess I need a rage. I'm gonna rage. Okay. Roar! Trondor. And then I'm going to make my way to the closest dretch
Starting point is 01:15:58 and take a two-handed swing with the gavel of Gelstrom. Just for my own purposes, do you want this to be the one that already got shot in the face, or do you want this to be a fresh one that has not been hit yet? Let's go for fresh.
Starting point is 01:16:11 Fresh, all right. I want my own. Not what Natty's been claiming that one. All right, yeah, go ahead and make your attack roll on this fresh. Dretch? Watch ha! Ten.
Starting point is 01:16:21 That is not successful. You take a sweep and you missed. Give me just so we can differentiate these dretches. Why don't you give me a detail about this one just so we can differentiate it? This one that you missed. This one is wearing a shirt that he stole from a drowl that says, Proud mother. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:16:47 But he doesn't know, right? He doesn't speak Elvin, so he has no idea what it says. Like people getting like a Chinese character tattoo on their body, and they don't know what it means. Yeah, he just saw a shirt, he's like, mine. And then Natty, why don't you give me a detail about the one that you Eldridge Blast in the face? That big old pot belly that's sticking out of his, like, armor and clothes. Oh, you got Pillsbury, Doughboy, poke it, and then Eldridge blast into the belly.
Starting point is 01:17:14 Why are you talking me like that? Is there anything else you could do, Toll? Yeah, I'm going to swing back around and continue with that momentum and take another swing with the gavel. Why would you attack a mother like that? Oh, come on. You called even worse. Eight. The dredch summons the powers of a proud mother and successfully dodges your attacks.
Starting point is 01:17:36 They're very strong. Dang. It's the shirt. It's giving you the advantage. It's like got to plus something to his AC. All right. That's it for you, Toll. Okay.
Starting point is 01:17:46 Up next is Doug. Then the dredge is. is the natty. Okay. Well, in a natty fashion, Doug would like to cast fire bolt. Firebolt. At, uh, which stretch should I shoot? We have the potbelly one, the proud mother, or you can describe a new one. Proud mother. Proud mother. Yeah. All right, do you have to make an attack roll on that? There's only one proud mother in this room and it's natty. Okay, that is a 22. That hits. And that does 17 points of five. Fire bolt damage.
Starting point is 01:18:19 Fire bolt, fire bolt. Fire bolt. Are they fire resistant? No. Okay, perfect. But also, because they have not attacked yet, that is a surprise attack. If I hit a creature that has not taken a turn yet
Starting point is 01:18:30 in current combat with an attack roll, it takes an extra 2D6. Roll it. Damage. So that would be an extra... Extra five points of damage. So that's 22 total? 17 plus 5?
Starting point is 01:18:42 Mm-hmm. Your fire bolt strikes directly on the curve of this threat and it falls backwards onto the ground, its shirt singed, and the words, proud mother, disintegrate off of the shirt, and the dredge lays there unmoving. The PR and D are gonzanage is, ow, mother. Ow, mother. Yeah, that dredge has been dispatched.
Starting point is 01:19:02 And then I would like to use my second attack that I remembered that I had this time to shoot another one with another firebolt. The pot belly, or you want to describe a new one? Let's do a new one. All right, what's the defining feature on this one? This one's real little. Like the runt of the dretches, I would say.
Starting point is 01:19:19 Maybe this is what the other dredge thought they were talking to when they were talking to Gunther. This is the Joe Pesci of their gang. So I'm going to shoot this little guy with another firebolt. Who, 19 to hit. That hits. And that'll do 10 points of damage? Okay.
Starting point is 01:19:36 Do I also get a surprise attack on him because he hasn't gone yet? Is that once per action? Yeah, I don't know if that's once per turn. What is that? It says surprise attack. If you hit a creature that has not taken a turn, yet in the current combat with an attack roll, it takes an extra 2D6 damage.
Starting point is 01:19:49 Cool. It doesn't say once per turn, it doesn't say once per rest. Well, this one has not attacked yet. So an extra 2D6. So that's an extra 7 points of damage, if that is the case that I could do that. Yeah, that's what it says.
Starting point is 01:20:02 I mean, I'll go with that. So it would be 17 points total. 17 points. You get the little run with a firebolt, and it also falls to the ground in similar fashion and lays there smoldering, unmoving. You know what else is? out of fashion, slavery.
Starting point is 01:20:21 Not in a million years. I'm going to guess what word you were going to say. Doug is not a fan of seeing the drows being treated like this. Can't disagree. Yeah. Let's not forget Gambat's here. Oh, yeah. Camat's also going to go.
Starting point is 01:20:35 He's going to go up to pop belly and try to give him a force-empowered run. Yeah. Give him what for? Is he close enough? He's speed is 40 feet. Okay, yeah. Gambot wheels over there. and makes an attack on the pot belly.
Starting point is 01:20:47 So it'd be 20. Good Lord. That's a Nat 20 plus 7, so 27 a hit. That hits. That's a critical success. And then he does 1D8 plus 3, which would be 9 points of damage. Force damage. I feel like Gambat normally tries to uppercut and hit people in the chin,
Starting point is 01:21:08 but the pot belly's too big. So he just ends up like uppercutting into the pot belly. Yeah. No. I like to think at this point, Natty, if you hadn't used it yet, you could use your time moment to think, where time wouldn't necessarily stop, but just go real slow and you would see the ripples of his belly like. Gavin Freed. A stomo guy.
Starting point is 01:21:29 Yeah, and he seems slowly go, ooh. And he like jackknives forward and falls onto the ground. On to Gambon. No. He's got a 20. Gambot's able to dodge out of the way. And that'll be it for me. Okay. That is all of the enemies you had in front of you.
Starting point is 01:21:47 The drought who were there and shackled all seem to be shuffling towards the shattered sigil in the middle of the room. Hey. Should we get that sigil? Yeah. Do you all, is there some sort of connection to your shackles in that sigil? Make me an arcana check for me, Natty. That's exactly what I was wanting to check earlier is if this is the thing that's keeping their chains like magically delicious. Tethered.
Starting point is 01:22:12 Uh, 15. You remember in the previous episode that you encountered some other drought who would shackled, shackled, shackled with similar chains. And when Tov tried to break the chains, it ignited and caused them to catch fire. Yeah. Uh, so you know that there is some kind of magical force acting on these chains. And you think that it's, it's giving some kind of magical impulse to these drought to move towards the sigil in the middle of. of the mine. Oh, they're like
Starting point is 01:22:44 zombieifying moving? Zombofying's extreme. I'll say almost like they're being compelled to do this. Towards the sigil in the center. Correct. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is now broken.
Starting point is 01:22:56 So there's thriller dancing towards the sigil. So the gun did break it? Yes, the sigil is shattered. It didn't just damage it, okay. Yeah, and you saw the arcane energy expel out and be released. Well, we gotta figure out I'm worried about them getting closer to the sigil with them chains on.
Starting point is 01:23:16 We got to figure out something. What should we do? Can't attack the chains, I don't think. Can Natty search one of the dretches to see if they got like a key, an off button, a manual? I wonder if it's in the same place as tools. You search through the dredch and you find three rations of dried meat. Oh, and it was on a previous dretch you found the pinky. That's where you got it from when you fought the ones outside before you came in.
Starting point is 01:23:44 Anyway, you find three rations of dried meat and you find a thumb, Natty. New finger. Dibs. New finger just dropped. Yeah. Do you think that those are keys? These weird little digits? Good.
Starting point is 01:24:01 Hey, everybody. So I'm assuming by you, the fact that you were saying that, telling me that about the arcane check, that they're not responding when I'm talking to them. Well, you haven't tried to talk to them. You can. What do you want to say? I mean, that's what I was like. I thought I did say something to him.
Starting point is 01:24:17 Didn't I say something to him? What about your chain reins of rustling? It wasn't have anything to do with their chains? No. Well, I don't think so. They're a different, I think they have a different use. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Why are you guys walking towards the center?
Starting point is 01:24:32 One of the drought looks up and locks eyes with you, Natty. And it just, it just says one word. Transform. No, no, no, no. No, no, no. Quick, keep them away. Keep them away. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:45 Yeah, can we create barriers? Like, is there mining equipment that we push in front of them? Yeah, you can, like, haul some carts around and try to block their way. They still keep trying to move or try to go around it, but you're kind of playing keep away. There are 20 of them, so it's quite a bit. I'm going to take leadership role. Okay, the three of us are going to try to push them away. Doug, I need you to investigate the room and see if you can find something to get them to stop doing this.
Starting point is 01:25:08 Should I go look at the sigil maybe or do something to that? Yeah, whatever. You do you. You go into your mine palace. I don't know what you do. Um, okay. Meditating on the sigil. I just like, we're like playing almost like.
Starting point is 01:25:22 King of the Hill. Like pushing the mine carts to like keep them out of them. It's like a video game. Could I just try to go smash the sigil? Yes. I will say the sigil is already broken up because Gunther shot it. Oh, well, that's my. That was my only idea.
Starting point is 01:25:38 Could I, I guess, like, investigate the rest of the room. if there's any, like, object that seems out of place. Why don't you make me an investigation check? You got it, dude. Oh, yes. Nat 20, 24. Matt. Nat.
Starting point is 01:25:54 You know, you try to look around to see if there's anything in this room that you could use to your advantage. And in doing so, you take something about the chains catches your eye, the chains that is binding the drought together. You see that these chains seem to be made of some kind of, dragon scale. It's like crack black dragon scales that are glowing dull red. Would I know any type of weapon that could break dragon scale? Well, I mean, metagame-wise, just about any weapon could damage dragon scale, but the downside is the last time chains like this were attacked,
Starting point is 01:26:30 it caught fire and burned up the people who were chained by the... Or were trapped by the chains. Screw it. Let's try it. Let's think out of the box. Natty uses a chain's reigns of rustling and summons the creatures that come from that, which are called, uh, some of the hushed rustlers. The hushed rustlers? From the chain reins of wrestling. You summoned the hushed rustlers, and it makes me think of the, like the shadows and ghost
Starting point is 01:26:58 that appear up out of the ground. Yeah. They manifest in this unoccupied space in front of you. And kind of in unison, they all share the same voice. And they ask, what souls have escaped? Listen, I know that's what you guys are supposed to be used for by my wife, but we're kind of in a situation here where my people, which are kind of like your mama's people, are, they're, can you help?
Starting point is 01:27:27 Like, what do we, like, this is the dragon scale? Do you guys have any information? I know I didn't summon you guys for the correct reason, but I'm just asking for help. Sure. And just to further paint the picture, because I didn't say this before, the hushed rustlers are four rustlers with a cowboy appearance. They have horse head and humanoid body, and they're made entirely of black sand, and they move silently.
Starting point is 01:27:48 Oh, cool. Yeah. Horse head and human body? Yeah. It's like, sorry to bother you. Bojack horse. Oh, that too. So they are an ally to the silent steed.
Starting point is 01:27:59 You did acknowledge this is out of their typical realm of responsibility. I'm inclined to have you make a person. No, a religion check to see if they'll assist. Ooh, I actually have a really good religion modifier. I forgot I added that to Natty. Ooh, good, 18. I figure she came from Mamas from the temple. She should have religious proficiency.
Starting point is 01:28:23 And your intention here, Natty, is to try to free the drought or remove the chains of some kind? Yeah, break the chains in some way that doesn't involve immolation. Okay. And you rolled an 18 on that religion check? I did, sir. The hushed rustlers look at that. the chains and look at you, Natty, and they say,
Starting point is 01:28:42 Another deity holds sway over these chains. Oh, it's like the fire, fire lady. Fire eater? Is that like the fire eater? Natty's saying that to them. Like the fire eater? Correct. They all nod, and then they disappear.
Starting point is 01:28:57 The sand dissipates and sinks back into the ground. What do we, what do we have from the fire eater? How do we summon the fire eater? Poop, pooh, let me see, looking at my inventory. I might have something to counter it from the Should I just pray to her? Sea drink?
Starting point is 01:29:14 Yeah. Because I'm a... I guess I'm a... This tongue thing. Yeah, so... The tongue thing? What does that mean? The tongue thing...
Starting point is 01:29:22 I'm the fire people. Natty joined the religion that worships the fire eater. I'm part of the fire nation. You all remember what that's called? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's like the opposite of the waterbenders.
Starting point is 01:29:34 Water nation. It's called... Fire Opel. Let me say We're a frostbiter fire eater Could I, I mean, could I use my Guiding Providence sensor To figure out where the fire eater might be?
Starting point is 01:29:49 Wait, let me, let me just figure this out Well, the Guy in Providence sensor kind of directs you To where, how can I say, the world is sending you Or yeah, where to go So at this point, if you were to pull it out It would be kind of like spinning. It's like when you take a compass to north, Like you're in the area
Starting point is 01:30:08 Where you need to be. A fire eater, are you here? Are you here? Why are you chance? I'll just say it since you all are looking. I know you have it written down somewhere. It was the Kindlekin. Kindlekin. You are a member of the Kindlekin.
Starting point is 01:30:19 Okay. Natty's going to go and hold on to the chains and hold on to them and pray to the Kindleger as a Kindlekin. It's like, but your wife, you show, oh my goodness. We're open. Not everyone has a wilder flower in their life.
Starting point is 01:30:36 life, Gunther. You go up to the chains, pick them up, and begin to pray to the fire eater. Yeah. And you know, holding the chains tightly, does Natty close your eyes to pray? No. Holding the chains tightly, you begin uttering a prayer and as you're looking at the chains, they dissolve into ash in your hands. The drowl, look around and look down at the ash that was chains just moments ago, and they look at you seeming with gratitude in their eyes, Natty. And they say, thank you. Before you can reply, you hear a haunting whistle echo throughout the mine. The miners look around in a panic, and you can hear them chattering amongst themselves.
