Starting point is 00:00:01 Hello and welcome to Talkin Baseball, one of our most famed episodes. It's the position unit draft. Trev Jolly the Jambino! Let's do it. I'd strike all of you out. Now what happened. Warehouse games, there's videos. I have to struck all of you out.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Hello and welcome to the famed position unit draft on Talking Baseball. Jake Storyelli here. To my right, Jolly Olive, Jimmy O'Brien, Johnboy, and Trevor Plouf, getting nasty and Calabassey. This is a huge sign. This means the season is getting really close. Jim, I'll kick to you the notepads out.
Starting point is 00:00:54 The Excel sheets are out. And you are last year's defending champ. That's right. Of the position unit draft. I took Trev down. Oops. I don't know how. Barely, but with ease.
Starting point is 00:01:05 and it was the Philadelphia Phillies starting rotation that really helped me out. We did bad as a team last year. There was only one unit where we had the number one selected, which is kind of wild. The number one and two starting pitching units did not get selected. And the top three relief pitchers didn't get selected. And the top four infields did not get selected.
Starting point is 00:01:35 So bad outing. you guys fail, I rise to the top. Trev, how are you? I'm doing great. It's already off to a contentious start. We're deciding draft order before the show. You know, there's some ideas that you guys had, some ideas that I felt like I was getting bullied. You fake bad internet just to get a breather.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Yeah. 3V1. I'm in for it. I can handle it. So that's how it started off. We'll see if we all kind of find our rhythm together as a unit. Okay. The position units draft. We're all wearing earth tones. Earth tones. Very nice. Yeah, me too.
Starting point is 00:02:12 I am also viewing this as three versus one. Oh. Me versus the three of you. Oh. We're all competing. I'm viewing that as okay. Yeah. And Jolly Olive.
Starting point is 00:02:23 How are you doing? Your first one. Yeah. A lot of pressure. A lot of history. You're going to do bad. All right. Easy.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Yeah. I mean, there was. I can feel the pressure on you. There was so anxious. No. was a relegation and like Jim said, you guys did a pretty poor job last year, so you brought in someone to raise the stakes a little bit. So I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:02:43 I'm glad I was selected and I'm here to put everyone in the dust. The big baby did do awful. His average unit draft was 18th. Wow. His average was 18th out of 30th. 20th rotation, 26th bullpen, 19th infield, 9th outfit. Prev, you did win by average position unit ranking. Which doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:03:04 but 54% baby And now we're And now it is F war But you know I'm usually a B war guy F war and it's when they're playing that position So if someone were to draft Say the Red Sox outfield
Starting point is 00:03:20 If Sadan Rafael is playing shortstop that day You're not going to get Those points The Royals really cooked the books last year They ended up having a massive infield Bobby Witt And also they're catching platoon And everything else
Starting point is 00:03:34 added up. They were also big in the rotation that they were some of our biggest misses last year. What else do you want to tee up, John? I'm trying to figure out if I won the way that I would grade this or if Trev won the way that I would grade this because I wouldn't do like total four across. So Trev, maybe you won, but I don't know. I don't think so because I had two first place finishes and you had one. You and I are superior ball. Your draft is way more impressive than mine. Yeah, BKNU. Paul Knower's Noamono.
Starting point is 00:04:11 You are, you know what happened is you had this thing. You ended the last year's draft saying Philly's rotation puts up war. Yeah. And that's what happened. They did. And he also had monument to see this from Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. They were definitely on the sheet. On the sheet.
Starting point is 00:04:27 The Mariners were toe to toe with them. Let's get into this year's. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow's a mystery. That's kind of the whole theme of this. We originally will peel back the curtain. We said, hey, you know what, Jam, you won. Why don't you select your pick if you want the one?
Starting point is 00:04:43 Trevor had a connipion. I don't think you, I can't label it anything. What? That's a, that's a clip. I said, I'm okay with Jimmy picking where he wants to go in this year, Jeff, because he won. The rest of us should be in some sort of a raffle. Those, that was the words were never said. Wow, that is what Rob heard, though, because that's what Rob suggested, too.
Starting point is 00:05:07 That's wild. Maybe. I literally said that. That didn't get to the three of us. We were probably talking over you. Yeah. Yeah, because that's what Rob said. The internet was acting up.
Starting point is 00:05:17 That's cool. I would have liked that. Can he leave the meeting in a rage? We did a random number generator. What number did it land on them? So I sent in 91, because I think Oswell Parraza, just big year. I sent in 54. Big Brian Erlacker fan.
Starting point is 00:05:33 He's 26. And Trev Wood. he's always 24 people. Number one in your hearts. Guard in the heart corner and beautiful Minnesota. So I will have the one pick. Jimmy has the two, Jolly, the three, Trev, the wrap around at the four, Snake draft.
Starting point is 00:05:49 And each team, or Team Jake, Team Jolly, Team Jim, Team Trev, you can only have one unit from one team. So I can't draft the Dodgers starting pitching and I can't draft the Dodgers outfield. You could only go one and one. So there was talks about maybe in future draft. A full team could get eliminated.
Starting point is 00:06:11 We're not doing that this year. We want the best position units drafted. Before we get into the draft, can I talk about five-hour energy? That's right. You guys already know it's five-hour energy. Those little bottles are literally everywhere. Today's episode is sponsored by five-hour energy.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Shots help you feel alert and energized, packed with vitamins, nutrients, and about as much caffeine as the leading premium coffee. Five-hour energy contains zero sugar, drink it in seconds, feel it in minutes, last for hours. Like all of that. It's available in a wide range of great flavors across regular strength and extra strength. They're portable, convenient, and they go with you. If you haven't tried them, what are you doing? If you have, you already know, go grab some five-hour energy to help get you through the day.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Hawaiian breeze or tropical burst at five-hour energy. Dot, I think my math was wrong. Jim would be closest, 54. Hey, hey! Oh,
Starting point is 00:07:13 my. This is good TV. Everything's right in the world. Now Trev's happier. I'm happier because I don't know who I wanted with the one pick. I want the two. You want to trade back? Yeah, I'm trade back.
Starting point is 00:07:29 I want the two. Okay. there's been a trade to announce but I like that I won but I would have if I won I would have said I want the two I won with the two last year I want the two okay so you have the second pick congratulations
Starting point is 00:07:41 glad we have that detail I get I get two picks in the top seven yeah yeah the one in the eight stinks welcome to captains league welcome to captains league
Starting point is 00:07:56 like make sure you guys go check that out warehouse games YouTube um I will go first then. Yeah. Oh, God. Jolly, now you're taking the wraparound? You're taking three.
Starting point is 00:08:08 I'm living at the three. You can have the wraparound. I have the wrap around. I have the wrap around. Two picks, baby. Let's go. That was all strategy by me. Just pick the number above the number.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Always, uh, Trev's picking. Let's go. Um, okay. Where are you going to take, Jake? It's a great question. You know, there's unit sparsity. Right. It's not bullpen.
Starting point is 00:08:29 Coward. Just because that's going to be a lack. Lack of war A lack of war A lack of war I am going to take You know When I think I'm going infield
Starting point is 00:08:43 I like to have a safe catching situation on hand First base Is Mookie going to stay in the infield That's kind of the whole question about them You know what I can't Do it. I'm going to do the Dodgers infield.
Starting point is 00:09:06 I'm going to, I think Will Smith had a down year for him, and he still got war. Freddie's going to be Freddie Freeman. As long as Mooky's in the infield, it's going to be a safe pick. And I saw Kim, I watched one spring training game with them, and I like him. So that's kind of what put me over the top. So I'll be taking it. Infield. Dodgers infield. The safe, safe pick, I expected you to pick the Dodgers. I'm just trying to get in that ball knowers anonymous club or whatever.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Ball knowers numero uno. That's a horrible. I won out. It's BKNU. James, the second pick in the draft that you fought for. No, I won. You traded for. I won.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I won twice over. You traded for. I did. I swapped. I thought the first pick was tough. Second pick's tough, too. Okay. because I'll tell you why.
Starting point is 00:10:04 The Dodgers go, I don't want to get stuck with the Dodgers bullpen. Jake just took their infield, but you would think because Otani's part of the outfield, that their outfield would look good with Teosker. But the Mookie situation does make it interesting. They're not projected to be the best outfield plus D.H. And I think Dalton didn't even put them on her sheet, so he hates their gut. as far as outfield goes. You already went in field.
Starting point is 00:10:39 I have a question. I have a question with that. Just really quickly. Show, hey, you get his cumulative stats. Like, do you get when he's D.H? What unit is he part of the pitching staff or the outfield? Well, he's not even going to pitch. That's, first I guess.
Starting point is 00:10:55 First fit, hopeful fit. So if he ends up with nine F-war, you're only getting the F-4. The games he plays D-H. And you're going to get the F-4-4-8. The games he pitches, the pitching would get that. This guy almost. Wow. So that even knocked it down a little more.
Starting point is 00:11:09 And if he's pitching, then he's going to have more off days. So he's kind of like a role player. Damn. I'll go. I can pick. I know. But because you did outfield, it makes me think. We're humming.
Starting point is 00:11:30 This is going. I'm like in the highest mind right now. We'll get going against the draft. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to. double up on infield or I want to go somewhere new. The Yankees outfield is still projected to be pretty high, projected to be the highest amongst. Because judge is good.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Dude, he belly's going to bounce back to his MVP form. If belly can steal. They're not even going to miss so. Trevor, you want to switch? If belly and the Martian can steal, that's war. Stolen bases help war out a ton. Look at Bobby Witt last year. I will go with
Starting point is 00:12:06 Yankees outfield Judge himself You need one player to get That's a crazy react You need one player to get 10 war And your team set Like so they have one guy that can do that Bobby Witt did it for the Royal's infield last year
Starting point is 00:12:23 He got like 11 So they were the top infield Granted they also had role players If Bellinger and Dominguez are bus No chance I understand a thought process there. You are banking on judge to put up a massive number to to set this the floor of I was digging into the winners last year and it's basically like you need a stud. Not many teams were
Starting point is 00:12:44 like balanced across the five. It was actually the top heavy units did better besides Philly's starting pitch. Ready for me. Jolly. That was a lot of yapping. That was a lot. And you're going Mets, Mets rotation. Let's have a 30 second limit. Mets rotate starting now. That's crazy. I agree with going outfield. Because I do think outfield is kind of top-heavy. Ass. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Mad. Yeah. You are. You're Cubs. Yankees was near the top. I met Pete Crow Armstrong. You guys are annoying. I'll say it.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Because I am going to take the Cubs outfield. You guys had a good read on that. I have Kyle Tucker contractor. And he's usually good for Sixth War when he plays a full season. I have age 23 PCA who put up three war despite not really hitting last year. Eels. Ian Hap, it feels like he's a lock for three war just every year because that's what he does. And Seya at DH, I feel like when he plays the field, he gets a little penalized and more because he's not great out there. Now he's a full-time DH and he can just rake and stay healthier.
Starting point is 00:13:54 I think it's the most well-rounded unit. And I think that Kyle Tucker just kind of is going to raise the stakes for everyone. I like the value there. They finished six last year, but with Tucker. Without Calcutter. Yeah. And the wind probably changes tough wind. People who's talking about the wind.
Starting point is 00:14:10 But sometimes we get a little offensive on this podcast. Defense, especially now that we're F-Wren. Oh, yeah. And that defensive outfield is awesome. I love the pick. I was going to take the Chicago Cubs outfield plus the age. Good dear. You snakes me.
Starting point is 00:14:24 I love it. It's a great pick. I'm going with two safe picks here. I want to establish a baseline. This is what I'm doing. I have to have a Phillies unit because I'm a Phillies legend. You guys understand that. I will take the Phillies infield with my first overall pick.
Starting point is 00:14:42 I feel like there's a decent floor there and the ceiling. I think Bryce Harper is going to go off this year. I'm calling for MVP levels. And then you just have talent all around. So I'm taking. I also like we used to Jake about having a catcher that you feel comfortable with. I feel comfortable with JT there. So I am taking Phillies infield with the fourth overall pick.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Strong pick. What happens when guys get traded, though? That's another thing that I do here is I pick teams that aren't going to trade people. The Phillies are not going to trade anyone. It's going to be great. If they do trade Alec Bohm, they already would have done it. They're not going to. Weren't you saying?
Starting point is 00:15:21 With the second pick. Bome for Correa. Correa goes plays third. The Phillies are an interesting one, trap because they, last year they didn't have anyone single player like go off but they do have like a lot all all it's like it's like they're starting rotation it's the same thing kind of like just kind of all get war i know we're on the i love the way the team is made i don't they win for my second wrap around pick which would be the fifth overall pick i'm going with um another i guess safe pick i wanted to go dodgers here
Starting point is 00:15:55 because i think the upside is obviously there I think I'm just going with a team that I trust a little bit more. I'm going to go with the Seattle Mariners rotation. Oh, interesting. Yeah, I just think that, again, I don't think they're going to trade any of these guys. And obviously the Dodgers aren't going to either. I think the Dodgers probably has more upside, but I feel like the safer pick is the Seattle Mariner's because they pitch at T-Mobile Park for half of their games. Yeah, you get, that's honestly a big reason why.
Starting point is 00:16:28 I'm doing. You get a nice rotation and an unhittable stadium. Exactly. That's a really good fan. So people forget Park Factors weight heavier in their favor than for hitters at course. So I'm taking my guy Logie, Georgie, Louis, Ricey, and Brian Wooey. Oh, ending with Brian Wooey was tough.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Just two solid picks for me to start the show off. Yeah. Well done, coach. Something like that. Wrong. Jolly. The sixth pick. Treve, I'm a little surprised because you talked about a safe pick, and I just,
Starting point is 00:17:04 I feel like the rotation with nine major league options is safer. No? Because I don't know. If one guy goes down on the Mariners, we got Emerson Hancock, sir, and who knows what we got there? I got no beef with him,
Starting point is 00:17:18 but I don't know what he is. Oh my God, they only have six major league pitchers in the rotation. How many of the Mets have right now? Okay. No, yeah, yeah, throw your jabs. I had a question about, good, good. numbers.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Here we go. If you have a six-man rotation, is that going to get you more war because you have six starters? Or because on average, you're all going to have less starts, it'll balance out. I think it's the second thing. Yeah. I also think you want your top five options. We'll give you more war than six options, but the Dodgers have six, seven aces.
Starting point is 00:17:52 You're getting defensive. One, good starting pitcher. Before we do that, today's episode is sponsored by Best Western Hotel and resorts. Starting point is 00:18:44 bestwestern.com. I think I'll follow suit, man. I mean, there's a lot of good infields. Oh, soup? What kind of suit? I'm contemplating. I'm not going a bullpen. And I already took an outfit. Shot clock, Jim, you can steal the pick.
Starting point is 00:18:59 Come on. Come on. Come on. New guy! No, I feel like the Dodgers and Mariners were the clear one, two, and rotations. Maybe I'm not seeing something. But I am going to take the Dodgers rotation. I just think they have tons and tons of options. I believe in all those dudes.
Starting point is 00:19:19 And, you know, if I'm going to pick a Dodgers unit between Dodgers infield and Dodgers rotation, the mokey fact, oh, they're off the board, actually. It's my friend Jake took it. So Dodgers rotation is. It is. There you go. I locked it. Great pick.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Great. Jim, the seventh pick that you like. Yeah. I'm going to take the starting pitching rotation that's projected to get the most war that has been top five in starting pitcher war for the last five years. And added, Jesus Lazzar. who in 20203 got 3.4 war as their fifth starter who can be healthy and add to it. I'll just run back the Phillies.
Starting point is 00:20:08 Yeah. I mean, you guys are just. We saved them for you, bro. We saved them for you. I didn't want to take it in your time. You're very passionate about them. Projected most war starting pitching and just have done it over and over and over again. I said good morning to you.
Starting point is 00:20:21 You replied. Oh, you're a Mets. Oh. We try not to bring our biases into this. This is a neutral thing. Yeah. I like Rangers for it. spelled incorrectly on the sheet, by the way, shut out.
Starting point is 00:20:32 If you don't like Ranger Suarez, you're anti-human beings. Yeah. There's a lot to like. Also, Chris Sanchez is throwing 99, apparently, this year, so that's good. Yeah. They're good. And he grew a little bit. Projected to have 2.3 more war in the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:20:47 There's a lot of good rotations here. So you guys have, have you all gone rotation? Yeah, you can save that. So I can wait. I can grab my bullpatch. I'm also just running back my last year's team. That's a, but it was. one full pre proof strategy he said Atlanta and Atlanta ended up with the most war last year
Starting point is 00:21:06 in the starting rotation sale yeah sale and Lopez and schwell and Bach oh my god he's good and then um then the royals were second trap yeah the royals they snuck up on everybody not on the sheet you get to face the white socks you're gonna get some war whoa who go go um great stuff guys I will finish the second round. Where are you going to go? I have my rotation, but again, I can wait on it.
Starting point is 00:21:40 Yeah, but then the comments are going to be like... Right. Then my draft has seen less sexy. Try again, do you want to switch or anything? I can take your spot. You can take mine, or... Do you have back-to-back picks here, Jake? I do.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Oh, so you got to dig outfield and bullpen? Yes. Ding. Okay. where I am going to go places not many people have been before I need an outfield I think I want to bank on talent
Starting point is 00:22:18 and I want to bank on the theory of someone going nuts Is he shuffling? I do like their young outfield I am going to go with the San Diego Padres in the outfield. I think Tatis is going to break out. I think if Jackson Merrill has more in the tank, even offensively. And then they're going to have some platoon and different DH options that,
Starting point is 00:22:48 hey, I just need some contributions. But I think this is the Fernando Tatis's back season. A make or break pick for my draft. We're leaning break. Who's their DA training? Yes. I think you have the best outfield duo, but it is a four-man unit.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Yeah. It's interesting. I trust my Padres front office. And, you know, does Tyler Wade sneak into the outfield some of these games? Oh, God. Doppelganger. Oh. Two first names.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Well, they're platooning him and Jay Hay and. I have it listed as Tiersoe or Neelius. I like him. I fancy him. Pier show. You know, could Jady Martinez end up here? I'd like it. Let's see what happens.
Starting point is 00:23:37 That was basically a Tatis pick. You have two out of four with Merrill and Tatis is nice. Yeah, and there was another, you know, I know you guys, there's a couple more picks, so I won't reveal anything. But yeah, not a couple other outfields. Didn't really jump off the board that I'll ride with Fernando. No. I mean, the athletics are ranked like seven or something.
Starting point is 00:24:02 and projected I'm a sneaky Nat guy Now I'm going to take my bullpen Which he's going to take his Because I will I'm able to do that Now the Marlins did finish
Starting point is 00:24:21 Second last year Which did surprise me I do think Tanner Scott carried a lot of that load He just gave up a two-run home run Last spring training game I watched I can't take the Dodgers. I've already, in reminder, Tanner Scott ended up on the Dodgers. So Kirby Yates, right?
Starting point is 00:24:39 Yeah. What was that about? Man, I'm going to keep it missionary. I'm going to take my Milwaukee Brewers bullpen. Running it back? Devon's gone, but he only pitched in 22 games last year. They are a factory at the bullpen that they just crank out different guys that will rack up war. that, and you know this program is a Craig Yoho show,
Starting point is 00:25:04 that I just believe in what they do, that I will get my points there. Did you say the Seattle finished high last year? What was that? Last year, the Guardians. The Guardians finished up first. I had the highest in last year's draft. With Milwaukee.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Correct. They were fourth? Fourth, yes. Yeah, I guess, well, you guys are still going to take your bullfell. depends I'm probably coming up, so I don't want to get too in the way. It feels tough for Cleveland to repeat that, but I'll see where you guys landed. Fasha. One thing?
Starting point is 00:25:37 Who is Craig Younger? Oh. Who is it? Are you serious, Jolly? Listen to the show. Listen to the show. Gali, you know, they also have spent a lot of time running. This is going to be a great.
Starting point is 00:25:51 Gali, go look at his minor league stats. The Brewers have done it again. Great picture. Yeah. Leave pitcher and left fielder, by the way. It's Craig Yoho. You guys didn't know that. Tell me if you like his minority.
Starting point is 00:26:00 You know they have another prospect, Jake? We loved Craig Yoho's name. We love his numbers even more. But I think their number one prospect is named Jesus made. Yeah. That's not how he's pronounced, but. A 0.6 whip at IA. It's coming.
Starting point is 00:26:17 The brewers know what they're doing. That's movement right there. Oh, my goodness. You're going to know what they're doing down there. James. Am I up? I'm excited for your pick. And then.
Starting point is 00:26:30 And then how many picks before my next pick? That's what I'm trying to figure out. One, two, three, four. You guys all get them, not me. Okay. Them twice. I got to figure out who I need to worry about here. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Jolly still needs an infield. They do. And the Mets are available and he's going to take them. You don't know that. That's obviously. You don't know. Full year, Mark Vientas. It's worth talking about.
Starting point is 00:26:54 And Trev needs a bullpen. Beatty's learning second base. Prev and Jolly both need bullpen. Okay. You need to disoble. between Jimmy. Let me tell you. You can wait on the Bullpen.
Starting point is 00:27:03 You can wait on the Royals. The Royal's Bullpen? I'm not, I don't think I'm going to do that. I know what bullpen I want. And I don't want Trev to steal them. I'm taking Minnesota's bullpen. They added to their bullpen. They finished really well last year.
Starting point is 00:27:22 They're projected to have the highest war of all bullpens. Who they added to their bullpen? Danny Colon. Yeah. I like the bullpen, Jimmy. I picked them last year. I think they have very... Brock Stewart coming back
Starting point is 00:27:36 is probably the thing that you're most stoked about because he's... When on the field, he's absolutely filthy, Griffin Jacks, Yon Duran. I understand it. I think they were pretty good last year for me. They were.
Starting point is 00:27:50 They're projected to finish first right now. And I wanted a central team because half that division is going to get defeat. and just be like, this stinks. So. Great pick, Jim. Great pick.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I was thinking about it. Speaking of drafts, how about draft kings? That's what we are. And that's who is the best place to bet on NBA player props. Four additional terms and responsible gaming resources, see dkng.com slash audio. Gali? I was between them and the guard dogs bullpen. You guys want to know something crazy? Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Blase was worth 1.6 F-war. Do you know how much B-Wore he was worth? Four and a half. 4.4. That's a pretty crazy swing. B-Wore guy. I like them. I'm Paul Seawald.
Starting point is 00:29:45 Trevor Stephens get a comeback. Sam Henthes. Do I take them or an infield? That's the question. Those are the two options. Thank you. There's like a handful of good infields left, so I kind of want to get a bullpen I like.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Wow. But the Mets infield is there. It is. And you can take them. Why do you keep saying, man? I'm just, I want it to be known that if you don't take them right now, you pass on them and don't believe in them.
Starting point is 00:30:13 I don't think that's what that means. I think it's just a different. When the Yankees South is there, as the Yankees fan, I was like, hey, if I don't take them, that's going to be. Now, the comments are saying, oh, Jimmy's, Jimmy's the Yankees fan. What if I just want to be. The comments are probably saying, like, ball no, or numerous.
Starting point is 00:30:27 I want to be, like, Jolly's the baseball, fan, you know what I mean? Just the abbreviation. I don't think anyone's saying numero, no. BKNU. It's a little university. Now, you and Trev both need Brooklyn bullpen.
Starting point is 00:30:39 Yes. So you should probably take the bullpen, but that would be also hinting towards you're not sure of the Mets. Does Treve have an infield? He has the Phillies infield. He has the Phillies. So I will be taking a bullpen.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Because I can still I can still get my Mets on the Rapp around because he can't pick them. So you want them? Yes. But I'm going to first take the Guardians bullpen. Okay. Nice.
Starting point is 00:31:05 Chalk of the bullpents. Yeah. Class A best closure in the game. Central bullpen. A lot of games against the White Sox. Hunter Gaddis heard of him was nice to me, so I like him. Where's our central bullpen? I'll see what my favorite guys.
Starting point is 00:31:16 You need bad rotations. That helps a good bullpen more. And they're only going to pitch like five innings. Chris and McKenzie's thrown 97. That's what I heard. That's what I saw. That stuff out of spring training, huh? It was fun.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Guardians' bullpen. Great pick. so okay i'm happy you pick them i was i would obviously would have picked them too you're right when you're talking about relief pitching you want not that great of a starting staff so you get more opportunities like should i just pick the tigers and just say they're going to pitch so much and we're all going central bullpins which is awesome i was think i mean first of all the tigers bullpen like obviously like they have some dudes there but they're going to get more opportunities to the dodgers who have this many starting pitchers they don't want
Starting point is 00:32:00 to go deep in games. People don't care about that. Because I want to pick the Dodgers bullpen. Obviously, they've added to it. They have some real studs at the end. I'm just weighing cost and opportunity here. Wow. I just, I'm talking to myself.
Starting point is 00:32:14 I hated it when you guys were doing it. But now I'm doing it and I like it. You know what a SWAT analysis is? I didn't hear anything you just said. Do you know what a SWAT analysis is? No, it's a SWAT analysis. Okay. That answered my question.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Stanford, man. Do I go Dodgers bullpen or Detroit Tigers bullpen? I would go Dodgers. The two best in the sport. Do you want to know the other high projected bullpens? Well, you have an opportunity, Trev, you have an opportunity for no Dodgers draft here. Can I tell you, Trev, there's a sneaky other option for bullpen that you haven't thought about? You can tell me, but I'm deciding between, I think, those two things.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Just hear me out. What's this sneaky other option? Everyone's taking a book. De Orioles. Yeah. Adding Batista, don't have a good starting staff. And they have a lot of. Billy scrap pile guys in that bullpen.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Okay, here's my, I guess here's my question then, because for the Detroit Tigers, like an opener would count as a starter, right? Yes. And I don't know how they calculate for. This is this. We're getting too far. I'm taking the Dodgers bullpen. I think that's the pick.
Starting point is 00:33:34 I'm taking the Dodgers bullpen. And then for my outfield, let's just make this quick. Oh. There are some good ones. Do I decide, do I, Jimmy's theory of one, massive player can cement your team. So like Juan Soto in the New York Mets outfield. So I think he has more B-war than F-WR.
Starting point is 00:33:54 Nice, Treve. But the other problem there is the rest of the Mets outfield. Oh, easy with that. careful. I'm just saying Jose Siri at center. And we're talking D.H.2. I'm a, this is,
Starting point is 00:34:06 this is who I wanted, uh, the entire time. I, I, I have in consideration. Okay. Mariners and Rangers, but I already take the Mariners rotation so I can't take them. I'm going to take the Atlanta Braes outfield. I like that pick more than the Mets outfield.
Starting point is 00:34:19 I'll say that. Yeah. thanked my draft last year. I think, you know, I'm hoping jerks and ProFAR is the second best hitter, uh, in this free agent class. Hope A.A. is not just, uh, you know, blowing smoke there.
Starting point is 00:34:29 And then obviously, Marcel at D.H is a nice floor. And then Acuna is missing the first month of the season. But I'd rather him miss that and come back healthy and play the rest of the play. Plus, Money Mike is kind of like super underrated. Treve, who's the most underrated player in baseball? It's Money Mike. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:34:44 You know. Griffin Jacks probably. Good pick. So Trevor is the first person with a closed draft, the Seattle Mariner's rotation, Dodgers bullpen, Philly's infield, brays outfield. Ooh, hot dog. Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggin. Dolly.
Starting point is 00:35:02 Infield time. That's what it's saying. I've got a guess. I guess what teams are in consideration? I'm so glad you asked. Oh, Jimmy's on deck. Because I have, I have like four teams I like. And he needs an infield.
Starting point is 00:35:16 Dorie Owls? I like the Diamondbacks. Ketel Marte had a outside shot at MVP if he didn't get hurt last year. Gabby Moreno. Or Josh Nailer. I like him hitting in that park, and then Eugenio and Perdoma. That's a nice unit. So is the Braves.
Starting point is 00:35:36 I'm a big believer in the Braves bounce back this year, even though they made the playoffs last year. It still feels like they're a bounce back candidate to just get back to 100 wins. R.C. is a little scary, but everyone else I like. The Rangers feel really safe, too. Samian and Seeger. They added Jacob Lager, who I think is solid. And I think Jonah Heim is better than what we saw last year. And then my Mets.
Starting point is 00:35:59 I like what I see down there. Alvarez changed his swing. Alonzo's back in kind of another contract here. Full season, Viantos and Lindor. It feels like I can't go wrong. So it's kind of just like... Flip a coin, then. A four-sided.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Roll a die. Do we have a dice? Five means you give the pick to me. Six means re-roll. Okay, so this is Mets. This is Braves. Okay. So Mets, and then this is D-Backs, and this is Rangy.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Oh, my God. It's a tournament. Debacks versus Mets. I was picking the Mets either way. I'm picking the Mets infield. I believe in them. I have to get them on my squad. I'm a Mets fan.
Starting point is 00:36:39 BK&U, newest attendee. That's the university. I was trying to bully you into not pick me because I wanted that pretty bad. You know, can I say something nice about your team now? Yeah. I actually didn't pick the Yankees' Bullpen because I think the Yankees' rotation was really good.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Yeah, he's bullpen's top. I think it's good. Matt Blake. Matt's infield's a good pick. When you look around, it's got depth, and I think Soto's going to juice Alonzo's numbers and Lindor's numbers. Like, I think both those guys are going to get a ton of help
Starting point is 00:37:15 just from him being before and after, or whatever they do with it. That's my team. That's probably my favorite pick, Jolly. And I think he got good value there. I think so, too. Are you locked up between the Royals and Orioles for Infield? Do you run back your ass?
Starting point is 00:37:29 Astros to try to bring back the championship team from last year? Astros. Kid that I played hockey with in California. He didn't watch baseball. Just referred to them as the Astros, like nonstop. And it graded me. I was quoting him. No one understood that.
Starting point is 00:37:49 Right. I became the guy that people hate him. He would come into the clubhouse and be like, the Astros. And be like, you built this company off that, Jimmy. Everyone knows. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Pretty bullshit. Altovae, still one of my favorite players to watch. Oh, my gosh. That was funny by me. Okay. Okay. That was so annoying. Toxic.
Starting point is 00:38:16 God damn, I'm hilarious. I need an infield. Yeah, Baltimore's there. They have a lot of people and they got the shortstop. Oh. Which can. Yeah. which can do you a lot.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Go Central. Go Central. Twins infield. Eddie Julian bounce back here. Oh, no. Royce Lewis. Negative. I like the Phillies infield. Treb took them. I was a good pick.
Starting point is 00:38:45 I mean, the Texas is also, I'm banking on Texas, just having a good season. I think it was World Series hangover. I think they're going to have a good year. And they have a lot of guys there. They're not projected to be that high. so it feels weird in that regard. If you were wondering about the projections,
Starting point is 00:39:03 it goes Baltimore, Mets, Dodgers, Blue Jays, Phillies. I'm not dumb enough to take the Blue Jays. That would be crazy. So Andre Semenes, wrecking up war. Yeah. I know. And that is just, I'm being rude to the Blue Jays on purpose. Thanks for listening, guys.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Because their D.H is Will Wagner. Philly's kid. Yeah, Hall of Fame son. It's too much. It's what they do. Too many sons. Yeah. But Vladdy's going to go off.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Yeah. Ooh. Just kind of really thunk that in. Okay. Like Vladdy and Jimenez. That could be 15. You guys are forgetting the Cincinnati Reds. Ellie, Matt McLean is back.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Like. Candelario. Dead's. Barry Larkin. Barry Larkin's there. Not your best work. Otto. Nathan Luke's in Centerfield.
Starting point is 00:39:55 Phillips. Where's I KF? Brandon Phillips. That dude BP? Why is Baltimore so high? Gunner and then all the kids just rack up two and a half war. And Adley doing better. Adley should bounce.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Mets was fully your plan. Yes, that's what I'm taking from this. I feel good about my pick. No, that was a good pick. Yeah, I was a little nervous about it. Dahl, what do you think? Should I do Baltimore or should I do Texas? Or should I do?
Starting point is 00:40:27 This feels not allowed. My, Dahl? See, if I get this wrong, you're the raining chain. It all now goes on me. So I'm really worried about this. Maybe I'm trying to fade you. You might fade me. You have no idea.
Starting point is 00:40:38 My intentions. Fair enough. I love the World Series hangover theory. I think Corey Seeger, Marcus Simian, are two of the best hit war infielders in baseball. I know Gunner had a great year last year, but all around that Rangers unit in the infield is great. I think that's the way I was leaning. I'm going to go Texas. Because I just believe in the team having a bounce back year.
Starting point is 00:40:59 So I'm going with Texas infield. That was my runner up. Thank God. We got there. We made it. Yeah, no shot clock on that one. Yeah, I didn't. I wanted Mets or Philly.
Starting point is 00:41:10 The Kansas City Royals that were the top infield and starting rotation last year, not taken. Do it. Not projected to go high, though. Yeah, I mean, they had some guys ball out and the thing is they went deep into games. That was their whole, like, Lugo, like they were right co-ragans. Um, I don't think that's where I'm going. We know where you're going. For the people, you're, you need a rotation.
Starting point is 00:41:40 We know where you're going. You can't take Brewers, Dodgers, Padres, Phillies, or Mariners. Go ahead. It's a good pick. It's a good, for the last pick in the draft, uh, well, you could have taken them way early. I could have. I could have. I'm going to take the New York Yankees rotation because they,
Starting point is 00:41:58 have a full year of Garrett Cole this year, ideally. They added Max Freed. They were like, hey, we're losing out on this Juan Soto Cat. Why don't we just bring in Max Freed? Luis Heel listed as the four-starter off his rookie of the year campaign. Rodon should have more in the tank. I mean, we've got bonus. Marcus Stroman's looking for a spot right now.
Starting point is 00:42:21 And with this new Yankees defense, he could be an all-star for another team. So I'll be taking the New York. Yankees rotation. Projected to have the fourth most. I think that's a great pick. You didn't pick the snakes, huh? Who would we miss? I think that's always fun to look back on.
Starting point is 00:42:38 DeBacks rotation. Was the Pirates rotation ever in consideration for this? I thought about it. I didn't think about it. Because if Skeens is that guy, which I think he is, that could be nine. Jared Jones adding a third pitch, which he's doing. The rotation and the pitching side of this, the way that we're doing it, You need depth.
Starting point is 00:43:02 Whereas the other side, what Bobby Witt and Soto can do is like you can have, it's calculated, you can have a position player like Harry can go off. But the way that war is, for starters, when I was looking at it, you kind of need like everyone to contribute. So that's why I didn't look at the Pirates. My Seattle Mariners pick, the projection projected 13.9 more. Park factor is what I consider a strong. ranked, I think, is hurting me.
Starting point is 00:43:31 Wow. Yeah. With that. Yeah, I was surprised to see their projected numbers lower than you'd think. God, the outfield's weird, huh? Yeah. That's outfield didn't go. I thought it would.
Starting point is 00:43:46 Yeah. Would have been a safe pick, Soto, and then anything else you get from there. I think the Tiger's bullpen was amiss by us. I think they are going to get so much opportunity that I've really struggled with that one. I don't know. The Dodgers just have so much name value at the end of the games. I was surprised the Dodgers weren't in the top last year.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Because they always have been. Hard to open. Two fan bases that I think should be rightfully mad, the Kansas City Royals as I've laid out. The Boston Red Sox can point to three different things. The outfield, the infield, and the rotation
Starting point is 00:44:25 has a chance. I mean, again, it kind of spins to Safecoverse Fenway. you're going to take. The only one of those units that's like projected to be in a draftable spot is a rotation, but then I'm not betting on Fenway, which is hard on pitch. Well, the Red Sox Outfield, if Devers goes to DH, which we think he probably will end up doing that, that helps a ton. Because you have Willier out there, you have Duran who racks up crazy war. Raphaela, they have guys coming up. Roman
Starting point is 00:44:53 Anthony's an outfield that might show up and just go off. And then you put Devers of DH, I think that's maybe one we missed as well. But, I mean, it's only four teams. You have to be a top four team. I wouldn't be that, like, mad if my team didn't get picked. And we're wrong along. There was two units that there was just a question mark that scared me off. It was Red Sox with Devers and DH.
Starting point is 00:45:13 And then it was Astros with Altuva and left field. Because if Altuva plays left field and you get Dubon instead, it changes the whole scope of the thing. Baltimore, yeah, Baltimore, you're banking on Gunner for the infield. Any other units that really stand out? Who got, who did we take in outfield? The drafted outfields were Padres, Yankees, Cubs, Braves. Yeah, so the Mets and the Mariners projected wise
Starting point is 00:45:48 are like the misses there. For Outfield? Yeah. Come on, Julio. Braves' Outfield of 13s of Steel. That's really good. Who did, like, call um on that i forgot his name again
Starting point is 00:46:03 christian campbell who did i call him the other day on the show oh my god you called him a football you called him uh keaton mitchell keith mitchell the fourth stream fourth string ravens running back he might have returned puns too um yeah i don't know i'm guess i'm trying to think of anything else that would have been fun well whoever's listening to that's their favorite team i guess braves rotation they were good last year. You need sale to do it again. I'm worried about the back. Soto's in division now.
Starting point is 00:46:36 No? Soto's in division now. That didn't really show much. I'm not knocking Soto. Yeah, I guess the other teams that are just such wild cards that a couple of these are going to dunk on us. Like the Rangers have White Lankford and Evan Carter.
Starting point is 00:46:52 One of them's like good with Jockett D.H and Adoles. Jocket D.H is big. I thought no which one could be sneaky and wasn't on any list. The Giants Infield? Like, if Matt Chapman and Willie Adomas... Thought about it, yeah. Like, you had a little conversation.
Starting point is 00:47:05 You can get double-digit war from those guys that if you get anything from Fitzgerald and... Um, my on-base king. Lamont late night. Um, they ran through my head. There's too many good. The Reds, the Reds infield with, uh, Ellie caring thought process is... I try to convince you.
Starting point is 00:47:26 I know. I just made a joke. So now I'm making... all those Reds fans less mad at me by saying that that could be a top four easily same way Bobby Witt took the Royals. Do we want to make a fan team quick? Like should it be Royals rotation?
Starting point is 00:47:39 They always do that in the comments anyway, yeah. I would say, I would say DeBacks rotation. You want to like, um, just missed? Kind of, yeah. Because I think the just missed team could win. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:47:53 I like that. Yeah, I like that. Let's go rotation first. So I think it's snakes are royal. I vote snakes. I'd go snakes. Give him the snakes. Man, you're not considering the Braves for that at all?
Starting point is 00:48:05 I'm not. Okay. Need sale to do it again? Shrider's got to be healthy. We don't really know where he's going to be able. I also think the Red Sox could sneakie do. Like if Lucas G. Edel comes back and is a guy and Walker Bueller, like, finds some sort of form,
Starting point is 00:48:20 they have like the top end talent to like really do it as well. So what's the safest? We said if for Braves and Red Sox, but we didn't say if for dime bags. I'd say Mets outfield should be. I think Mets Outfield, you get Soto. Let's go Mets Outfield, Diamondbacks rotation, Cincinnati Infield. Okay.
Starting point is 00:48:41 Tigers bullpen? Or Tigers Bullpen? Thanks? No. Or Royals infield. Should we go Royals infield? Just run it back? We're the best.
Starting point is 00:48:52 Royals infield. Bobby Wood's incredible. Baltimore is the most highest projected. I'm cool with either of those. Royals or Orioles. Just one of the short stuff. They bring in Jonathan India? Yeah, it should be Royals.
Starting point is 00:49:06 They were first last year. Vinnie. India is going to get D.H. at bats, which we'll go towards Alford. Vinny got us dinner. We love Michael Massey's swing. Vinny got you guys there.
Starting point is 00:49:15 He brought us to a war guy. What is your? Thank you guys so much. You're already commenting, and you should be commenting. Thank you. John Boy Jolly hopping in. BK and you. Rob Chiraco producing his butt off on this episode.
Starting point is 00:49:36 Dalton Feeley getting the sheets ready for us. Let us know what we missed. We'll be back. I didn't say it. This is me stabbing you guys. One, two. What did I do? Tompane strikeout.
Starting point is 00:49:50 Oh, yeah. You ever get one of those? Pat Hobart. What's he going to do now? What's Pat going to do? Let's get him on the pot. Rep. Seriously, what's your move?
Starting point is 00:50:03 Let's ask him. Go to a different league, right?
