Starting point is 00:00:01 Hello and welcome to talking baseball. The Dodgers won big and the Astros live to see another day. Let's do it and talk about all of it. Hello and welcome to talking baseball. Thank you very much for clicking play and hanging out with us for a little bit as we discuss the games that were. We've been doing it every day. We've been doing pregame show every day. Review every day.
Starting point is 00:00:46 We're all over the playoffs. If you love baseball, we're all. the pod for you. Coming to you from the Roosevelt's studios in the Bronx, RSVLTS. Jake is wearing a Roosevelt shirt. I don't think I've seen you wear that one before. Worn it before.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Thank you. Okay, that's Jake. Trev is wearing his nameless genetics hat and a white tea. Looking good. Oh, okay. There's stuff on the t-shirt. Emojis of fists. Quality.
Starting point is 00:01:16 And bug, bug dude is behind the dish. David, how are you? I'm well. Thank you for asking. Cool. All right. This episode is brought to you by Michael Kelly, Ray Swin. Dang.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Dax Tucker. I mean, you got to be able to work on cars and, like, master a rope swing if your name is Dax Tucker. Dax Tucker? Dax Tucker. Interesting. That sounds like a made-up name and a fiction, like, Western. Yeah, it's the guy who you meet in the middle of the woods that was like, this is my terrain. And then he's got, like, all these trap sets.
Starting point is 00:01:50 up for like fishing and game. I agree with you. I think you could also go full tilt the other way. I could see that now being like a hipster name. Oh, like super nerd. Well, my name's technically William Henderson. I go by Dax Tucker. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:08 I was thinking more like West Texas. That's what I have. I have like an outdoorsman like Hunter game, Treehouse living. But I like like your stuff. But I like yours too. Of yesteryear, I fully agree. I think times they are changing. All right.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Also, Ben Gundinshag. Gundershag. Real D-50, always the realist. Bob Williams, done and done. Hunter Tuning. Jabe, Alex, Aaron Sims, Sam Lonberg, and Ryan Lebrecht. Lundberg.
Starting point is 00:02:46 You know, yesterday, this is for real. I'm not making fun of anybody. Okay, don't. I met a guy. I'm not. I'm just saying what happened yesterday. I met a guy named Reef, right? He's a big wave surfer, like a legit stud.
Starting point is 00:03:00 It's my cousin's name. Yeah, just. Big wave surer. His son's name? Coa. Ocean. Nice. Yeah, I have a really buying into it that.
Starting point is 00:03:10 You can name your kid whatever you want. My, uh. That's true story. I have a little cousin named Reef. He's a badass. He's my best friend. This guy was, this guy is like 6-3 badass big wave surfer so yes again i'm not like saying any negative thing
Starting point is 00:03:26 about nautical people don't fuck around trev like if you're into the nautical world you name stuff after nautical stuff i was also playing frisbee with his kid his kid's like one years old and was throwing me the frisbee so he's kind of also a stud yeah yeah his name's ocean yeah probably goes by oh for short coming up later i didn't dig that o's o's o she oh she Ashkosh bagash. Water! That's his son's name. Like if you're on a soccer team and you don't want the other team to catch in.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Hey, get it to water. My dad coached little basketball and they were always the red team. Sure. And he had a kid who had red hair whose nickname was red. Right. But my dad couldn't call him that because that was the whole team. Right. So he had to call him blue, which is just classic.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Classic. You'll reverse. Yes. Like if Peyton Manning was doing like an audible at the line, and Ocean was his receiver, and he's like, we needed to get it to this guy, like on a quick hot route, it would say water, water, water. Yeah, yeah. It would be, yeah, like different forms of liquids or something, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Or maybe you go solids, the opposite. Wow, a lot of options there. Okay, well, good morning to everyone. Thank you for joining us. We appreciate you. Thank you to our patrons that are here. The patreon.com slash John Boy Media. It gets you there.
Starting point is 00:04:47 It's $2 a month. You get to be a part of the live show, a little pregame show, a little after show, a little hang out. Always help us out as we get going here. Two games, and we thought that we were maybe getting two games for the last time yesterday, but we're going to get two games again because the Astros win, the Dodgers win in the first inning, and then they had to play eight more. Just everyone just had to do it, but it was over after that.
Starting point is 00:05:13 A good night for baseball. Let's get straight to the Burns. Jake, we're going chronologically. So is the Dodgers burn up first? Prong pot, I think technically. Holy smokes, how are you going to burn this? Light it up. It's a mess.
Starting point is 00:05:29 I'm very interested to see where we go here. Take it and smoke it. On your mark. Get set. Burn Jakey burn. The Atlanta Braves trying to go up 3-0 on the mighty Dodgers. Julio the Peanings. Iris Arias versus Kyle Wright Bros.
Starting point is 00:05:50 And there'd be a lot of flying going around Globe Life in Arlington. Kyle Bob Seeger with the RBI double. Here we go in love again. Everyone, the Willenium. Will Smith, RBI double. Young Jock, Boing Peterson. Meet me at the trap. It's going down.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Three run, Yabo. It's five nothing Dodgers. And they're just getting. and going. Edwin Rios de Janeiro hits one to Brasilia. Seeger turns the page with an RBI single, and how about Max Muncie, that funky Muncie with the Grand Salami? Right was wrong. Doesn't make it out of the first where the Dodgers put up in 11 spot.
Starting point is 00:06:38 It was all pleasantries from there, belly homer, Paschae, with his first MLB homer. That's fun. Dodgers dominate the game. It's 15-0 through three innings. Your final is 15 to 3. And just like that, the Dodgers are back in this series. Jake, you hit us with a bunch of stuff, the first half of that burn.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Yeah, a couple music things. I was writing them down. I see if I could catch up. You had the right bros. Yeah. Things are going to go flying for Colorado. I like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Young Jock. It's going down. I caught that one. Me at the trap. Seeger. Turn the page. I caught that one. Dang.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Which ones did I miss? Edwin Rios de Janeiro hits one to Brazil. I like that. That one was kind of fun. Geography joke. I think that's it. I'm not a Will Smith. You did some Will Smith.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Oh yeah, the Willenium. Here we go, the Millennium. And then Reis the penis. People forget that Will Smith, the actor put out a lot of music. A lot of tunes, man. Getting jicky with it. It's corny, but, like, also good. Clean.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Well, Will Smith doesn't have to cuss in his records. Yeah. Which is weird. Whatever. Well, I do. So, fuck him. Fuck you, too. You would know an M&M song.
Starting point is 00:08:02 I know a lot of Eminem songs. Oh. I'm not a big of Eminem. Shit, you probably think I'm in your tape deck down. I'm in the back city. I used to know that song. Is Eminem really, is you really like a top rapper ever? Like, really?
Starting point is 00:08:18 I think skill-wise. I think so. I don't want him to, like, do a disc track on me. I mean, it's been a while, man. I think time just goes by like M&M, JZ, you know. People don't even. People don't really know. Rappers for you.
Starting point is 00:08:33 I don't know. Robbie Dobson says my M&M impression isn't bad. Nice. Huge. Yeah. Huge. The kids. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Here come all the 25-year-old white dudes going to yell at me because I made fun of Eminem. And in the chat. You're one of them. Anyway, Trev, you're brave. Trev, you were trying to say, you said yesterday that, like, we had to give Kyle right respect. Well, he's earned respect until you have respect and then he lost a little bit of respect right
Starting point is 00:09:07 there. I'm going to do a breakdown of this first inning. So I was just rewatching a lot of the footage. A lot of close plays. Like that play with Camargo and Mookie and the first batter. He was safe, but very close. And then there was a play with, I think it was Will Smith, that second when he tried to stretch into a double.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Yeah. Really close. And then all the 10 runs came with two outs. And then you also had the Turner kicking the ball. So the Dodgers whacked the shit out of the ball. I mean, they had a single, two doubles and two home runs or three home runs. So two singles, two doubles, three home runs. runs in the inning.
Starting point is 00:09:48 They also, and I'm not saying that there was, those plays are unlucky. Like the mooky and the play at second aren't unlucky, but from a Braves point, if you're like, oh my God, like one inch the other way and we're out of that unscathed. Probably would have come back around in the second. If you left Kyle right in, I don't think he was going to leave that game without giving up a ton of runs because they were just all over him. I told Jake, right when this game was going down, we pulled up to this part, got to get the kids out phone no service so i don't get to see any of this first ending when i do finally get
Starting point is 00:10:24 service i opened up and saw the 11 runs and it was a shock to me i don't know if that's how it felt watching it where you just like jaw drop like holy crap or was it like oh wow like they're actually just they look like this is the dodgers team we know well the um it was shocking because we were watching it so i understand like your perspective just seeing that obviously 11 runs in the first. It went kind of so like the mooky play was close, then the double, then they get two outs, right? Will Smith hits the double, and you're like, all right, they're up, they're up two. And then Jock's home run, you think that's huge, right?
Starting point is 00:11:04 But it's 5-0. You're like, that's not insurmountable, but it's a horrible start. The very next pitch, like before Jock sat down in the dugout, Rios hit a home run. And at that point, that's when I think Jake and I on the live show were like, oh, no. No, like we're not even close to how bad this is going to be. The Bellinger Walk was kind of like a, oh boy, this might end up being an inning. And yeah, man, I'm a huge fan of the baseball butterfly effect. And I think, you know, sometimes when I do it on talking yanks,
Starting point is 00:11:35 people think it might be soft Yankee stuff. But, you know, let's say Betts is out on that first infield single. That was first pitch of the game. You know, who knows what happens after that. But I don't think this happens. And yeah, man, it just got ugly quick, and they clearly had a plan. Betts was first pitch swinging. Kyle Seeger was first pitch swinging.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Who else? I think the Will Smith double, that was not first pitch. The Rios Homer was first pitch swinging. So they came out and wanted to be aggressive against Kyle Wright. They didn't want him to get ahead in the count so he can use his out pitches. They get the kid, you know, I had a couple people. DM in me and they're like, so do you think he was tipping? And I was like, they might have picked up on something, but I think it was just a young kid
Starting point is 00:12:24 that doesn't have a ton of major league success yet that ran into a great team at the wrong time. And I, you know, again, baseball's butterfly effect, do I think, you know, them throwing Tomlin the night before in the ninth inning and getting the lineup sparked? You know, is there any actual effect? Is there any tangible things you can measure? I don't know, but I think seeing some runs go on the board and feeling good about yourself is something important. And again, I didn't like that move at the time.
Starting point is 00:12:56 You know, Shane Green comes in and pitches this game. But yeah, it's 11-0-0 after 1. And that's the ball game. Jimmy, you mentioned that, you know, the Peterson home run feels impactful 5-0. It's like, okay, Dodgers must win this game. Because, hey, if you get out at 2-0, you know, that's even fine. The Braves hadn't hit yet
Starting point is 00:13:16 I say we because we kept flip-flopping fan bases on the live stream last night And you know they get a little rally And you're like, okay, are we going to do this shit show of a game? No Urius locks in Arias locks in And yeah
Starting point is 00:13:33 I mean what There's only so much you could say I mean they do it again in the third They have a three-run third Bailey made some nice catches again He's having like his defense has been amazing standout. That's really good. And then Snitker for the Braves said in his post game, we're actually in better shape than if we lost seven to five. All of our relievers had the night off.
Starting point is 00:13:54 And that's what we're saying about these days, so many games in a row. Like, there's a lot of good that can come from a loss if you're in a seven-game slog series. That's probably the best loss the Braves could have. Honestly, if you're going to lose. The first thing I looked at was who did they use? Who came in? And I, I felt like Snickers not going to put guys in. Obviously, that's kind of the move there. I was surprised they didn't let Wright kind of just eat it a little bit more. But maybe they wanted this. I mean, because his confidence is probably already shot at that point.
Starting point is 00:14:28 But it's tough to tell a guy just to go out there. It was 6-0 when they took him out. So they're looking to end it there. Yeah. You might need him later in this series. So I think you got to keep him. Claps to E. Noah. Yeah, who asked.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Oscar comes out of the pin, 92 bullets, man. That's huge. One hit. One hit. Four walks. He was dancing around a lot. But hey, man, that's hopefully make that matter. That's been one of our lines of this playoffs.
Starting point is 00:14:58 That you got to rest the pen. Jansen Kenley comes in out of the bullpen. He gets a clean inning cutter was cutting. Good for him. Baez gets a clean one. Yeah, Shane Green, still bizarre. He pitches the final inning in this game. Yeah, man, I'm a...
Starting point is 00:15:16 Should it took that 175 to win the series last night? I forget if I said a pregame show or recap, but I'm about to go digging because I had a little Jakey Nostradamus on this series because it was lining up if the Dodgers got this game and they came out and they bawled out. So kudos to them knocking Kyle Wright the kid out. And, yeah, I mean, this is full-blown series. series and go check us out on the pregame show because, oh boy, Clayton Kershaw,
Starting point is 00:15:48 be a good day to have a good day. You want to know what the current line is on the series? What is it? Even. Yesterday was plus 175. Dodgers minus 110. Dodgers minus 120. They're the favorite now?
Starting point is 00:16:02 Just like that. Just like that. It could have got him at plus 175 yesterday. And that was, that's going to be. the best odds you're going to get. Yeah. I guess I'll lose today.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Jack, four hits. Right now, as of right now. As of right now. The Rays are the favorites to win the World Series via Las Vegas at plus 140. Dodgers and Brave share the plus 225 mark. Well, we'll get there when we get there.
Starting point is 00:16:43 What did you think about Justin Turner kicking the ball? Didn't see it Rob Dobson Jock Tober I love that You didn't see it? It's pretty funny It's pretty funny Go to my Twitter and I tweeted it It's a ball in the dirt
Starting point is 00:16:57 And he just straight up kicks it Hunt team The rules I mean it should not The rules say you can't do that You have to try to actively Avoid getting hit And he clearly did not do that
Starting point is 00:17:10 But the rules also say that If you go to replay you cannot replay intentionally hitting a pitch with your body part or balls and strikes like those are just judgment calls in live time
Starting point is 00:17:25 so once they go to replay they can't overturn it for that reason even though it clearly shows some Dodgers fans were trying to tell me like how do you know he tried to kick it and it's like well because I have eyes and a brain looks like a kick and he moved his foot forward
Starting point is 00:17:42 I'm going to say that to him. Like, what the fuck were you doing? What was this? Hey, he got on base and then the grand slam happened afterwards. Trabb, he kicked that ball, right? Oh, my God, he kicked that ball. Okay. People were trying to say he didn't.
Starting point is 00:17:57 It's like, he kicked that ball. I'm trying to go right now to see if I can pick up something on Kyle right real quick. That is intriguing to me that you mentioned that. Could the Dodgers have just had a good game plan and gone after him? Yes. But like, when you're looking at. it. I mean, they were swinging early. If you're swinging that early,
Starting point is 00:18:17 that means you know something's coming. I bet they had something. I'm going to go, I'm going to check it out today. They were swinging early. And then, I mean, he was just lost and scared and getting himself in bad counts, throwing at people's feet who were kicking the feet, kicking the ball. It's really funny. I don't care. I mean, but like, he just kicked the ball. Oh, for sure. I already know that I could pick something up off him if I want you to know.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Like he has a very good chance of doing it because he does. I'll tell you why. Just watching him throw and remembering what he does now. And the wind up he comes. He goes up to his head, then down to his belt. You're going to be able to find a difference in some of those pitches, whether it's the glove being here or here, going up higher, going up lower. There's a lot of stuff he's doing.
Starting point is 00:19:04 You do a lot of that shit. You're going to get picked. Too antsy. I'm going to go through it. All right. You find it. If you find it, share. it. He'll like to know.
Starting point is 00:19:13 To max first. I love to know. Why don't you ask all your friends on the Dodgers? Was he tipping? Turner, hey. I don't know a lot of friends. The Dodgers are too cool for me. I'm not, you know, I'm only friends of guys on teams like the Brewers.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Turner, did it feel cool when you kick that ball? I will ask him about that. All right, let me know what he says. Well, I mean, that's really it. This series will get more exciting as we go. Dodgers are way back into it. So we will move on to the. Ray's series, but before we do that, let me tell you about our friends at Draft Kings.

Starting point is 00:20:59 See draughtings.com slash sportsbook for details. If you have a gambling problem, call 1-800 gambler. All right. Rays trying to sweep the Astros. Glass now on the bump versus Granky. Jake, are you ready? Always. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:21:19 On your mark. Get set and burn. The big Brit toilet glass now in the race versus Houston as they hope to have the right Grinkie to victory with Zach on the bump in a potential elimination game in San Diego. Bottom one, small guys won. Tall guy zero. Jose Al Tuve.
Starting point is 00:21:44 Jose Altuve. One, nothing stroze after the solo dung. Small guys, two. Tall guy zero. Mighty Mouse does it again. This time with the RBI double. Two nothing stroves until ring around a Roserena. Homer, Homer, the lead is gone.
Starting point is 00:22:04 It's two apiece until, like my childhood clothing, it's husky. George Springer, the pride of Yukon, goes third deck. Houston showing the mental fortitude to make the score fortitude. Can Grinky hold on back-to-back singles, and here comes the bad man of Rosarena? Dusty visits the mound, and he has a plan. Trust the vet, and like a bored couple looking into new things, it's a check swinging out with the power change. into the ninth. The Rays aren't dead yet. Free Willie Adomas, but his wail of a shot can't clear the wall.
Starting point is 00:22:48 RBI double as Presley barely keeps him from leaving the building, and it's time to Tissu, Sue, Sue go home. Line out to right, Grinky to Javier to Presley, Houston wins 4 to 3 and survives to play another day with the series at 3 to 1. All right. Nice. What was the check line? Like a board couple looking into new things. It's a check swinging out. Oh, swingers.
Starting point is 00:23:22 You check swinging out. Oh, you check. Okay, I get it now. Check swinging out. Coming from a swinger that I enjoyed that line. No problem. Good game, huh? Swinger to swinger.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Yeah, this was. Good baseball. Jose Altovae. third home run of the series Jakey I think's got him in the Homer draft so that's a whole thing for you five out of his last six games he's hit a homer this was kind of my game you guys
Starting point is 00:23:55 I kind of predicted almost exactly what was going to happen I had a big shout out on TBS which is hilarious to me while I was firing that tweet out because I thought it has been impressive that wasn't of me trying to get on TBS I thought I was impressive. This guy's been hitting awful defensively.
Starting point is 00:24:14 It's really hard to separate those two things sometimes, but he's done a really good job in the spotlight when everybody's talking about it. Like guys like Jake telling him he's got the yips. Still going out. Opposite. Homer. So I got on there.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Ron Darling said I have good takes. That was really, really nice. But a really, really good ball game. A Springer with the, that was it. One swing of the bat at a pitch at 100 miles an hour at his neck. I don't know how he hit that pitch, but he hit it far.
Starting point is 00:24:46 What was the stat cast on that bad boy, BBD? Pull that thing up? He's looking, I think it was 6.50. It could seem like a fourth deck. That's, uh, that's silly. I think that deck is a little deceptive. 110 exit velocity.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Glaber went up there, and I thought it was crazy, and it was like 410, and I was like, oh. So as long as he gets it out. enough. It just, yeah. It just seemed like a rocket coming off of his bat.
Starting point is 00:25:16 It's illicit. I mean, I mean, this is, this is typical how the series has gone, though. You know, like it's been pretty good baseball and the Astros have shown up and hit again.
Starting point is 00:25:27 Astros had six of the hardest hit balls. The six hardest hit balls of that game was all Astros. I think that's kind of been the way it's been. It's not at people, per se. Your, your call, Trev,
Starting point is 00:25:38 your prediction was impressive. You told Granky not to throw a curve to Randy because he would just hammer it. He throws a curve to Randy 73 miles per hour, I think, and Randy hammers it for a home run. You said that last now was going to give up a solo shot. He gives up a solo shot to Altovae. And then you said it was going to be tied in the fifth. I don't care that you got the last four innings wrong. I said two to two also.
Starting point is 00:26:00 You said two to two. You have the score right. The score was impressive. It was very impressive, I thought. Yeah, thank you. You know, Dusty had a plan. He brought in his guys. You know, his guys...
Starting point is 00:26:11 Had to. And they pitched well. You know, you... You got to give credit where credit is due. Javier comes in. Two innings pitched. Only one run, three Ks. And then...
Starting point is 00:26:21 And then Presley comes in. Presley's been really good. Adomas, close. Off the bat, man, I thought that was gone. Even the last hitter was Susugo. And they were talking about in the broadcast. Like, look, this guy, when you come from Japan, you can hit Ospie pitches.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Like, you have to be able to hit Ospy pitches in that league. And you saw, like, when he was getting an Aussie pitch in the zone, he was on it. Even that last swing where he flew out, pretty good wood on that ball. Yeah. So this is definitely a nice little game. Rays almost came back. I'm glad Adomis got a hit. I want to see Adomis do something on the offensive side.
Starting point is 00:27:01 I think that might have propelled him. You get that feeling. We might see something out of him today. Some race fan came at you for saying he doesn't have a bat. and said that he's got like a 105 OPS plus or something like that. He had a good year. I didn't check the test. I said in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:27:17 He hasn't done anything. Oh. I like Willie. I think he's great. I mean, all they care about right now is his defense. He's going to play no matter what he hits in the postseason. But hopefully that gets him going.
Starting point is 00:27:29 The big story is leaving Grankian. I mean, it's a really cool moment. And Granky's change up being the same speed as his fastball as another wild. It's hilarious. It's like, what? Explain that to someone who doesn't watch the game.
Starting point is 00:27:43 That was a fun, fun about a camera. Another controversial check swing in this series. Yeah. Two of a one from the night before and Randy. Good thing it happened later in the game so TBS actually could show the replay of it. Yeah. But, no, I mean, Dusty going out there and doing like old school managing and looking the pitcher in the eye, I mean, how, I mean, it's got to be really tough to get Granky's eye contact with him.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Thinking about that now. I was a different endogenous. But yeah, it was a good move. And then the check swing helps, but there's a fucking ballsy pitch to throw that change up out of the zone, 3-2. Yeah, down and in. Ballsy pitch.
Starting point is 00:28:26 And, yeah, Dusty hits the right buttons. He empowers Granky. He gets that out. Javier has been a really nice weapon for them out of the pen. His fastball doesn't necessarily light up the gun, but you can tell it's got some. jump on it. And, you know, I thought they were saving him for tomorrow, but there might not be tomorrow. So they go to him. He trusts him. He even, there's a nice moment before they came out
Starting point is 00:28:52 to pitch in the ninth, Dusty's talking to Maldenado and giving him the like, hey, does he still look good? Like, what's going on? And they cut to Javier at the end of the bench and he's eyeing them talking because he knows what they're talking about. And so Maldenado, you know, gives him the nod, go back out there. He gives up first base runner. Dusty pulls him. Goes to Presley. And yeah, Dusty's plan worked. It was close. A little top spin, a little marine layer. Might have kept that Adamas Paul in there. But hey, you know, they're playing it both ways. And yeah, the Susugo at bat was fun because what Treves Ron Darling was saying was true. You know, if you play over the pond, the other pond, it's a lot of breaking pitches, a lot off-speed.
Starting point is 00:29:39 not a lot of 90 mile per hour sliders there. So that was my only argument against that, but he left one in the zone, barreled it, but it's right at Springer. Good for Houston, man. I mean, Altuvain Springer, those are the guys that do it on offense for them. Granky and their good bullpen.
Starting point is 00:29:56 That was the formula. Do we talk about Alvarado yet? No. Disgusting. The race just another guy just another guy hit 99.99 out of the pen. I mean, yeah, bat to Maldonado. was gross the pitches he made.
Starting point is 00:30:12 So the race, like, add a weapon. One win away from the World Series, and they add a weapon. Sick, fucks. Making the Astros look like Little Leaguers. They were all jumping out of the way. Like, that was when the hard guy comes out, you're 11 years old, and it's like, okay, get in the box. Okay, get out of the box.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Like, they were doing that. That's crazy. So what's game four now? Bullpen day versus Bullpen day? Game five. Five. currently both are unlisted I believe
Starting point is 00:30:40 yeah because Javier was supposed to pitch today Snell can't go one two three no it'd be three days rest so they'll have Snell and Morton ready to go for six and seven I think it was interesting a couple things
Starting point is 00:30:56 What is bullpen day for the Astros too Wow Slop I thought Dusty Stras can go Dusty switched Brantley and Altovae is that right two and three
Starting point is 00:31:07 that was interesting Brantley was second what's going on oh yeah it's getting the answer oh yeah brantley batted second or two by third
Starting point is 00:31:17 yeah the one note is we talked about Glassnell being Homer prone I said he solo Homer solo Homer you got to keep the guys
Starting point is 00:31:26 on the bottom of the Astros lineup off the basis for those guys when they come up George Springer hits the home run after Maldenado
Starting point is 00:31:33 singles ends up being the you know one run game. Yeah. You get to keep those guys off the bases. And two, and this is kind of weird
Starting point is 00:31:41 and, you know, I didn't really think about the time, but Susugo is going to be, he's, I think they found, like if they need a guy
Starting point is 00:31:50 against Presley, I think Susiego's going to be up there pinch hitting. I think they're going to tell him that. You are going to be here. And if we need you to pinch hit against Presley in the ninth thing, you're the guy.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Be ready for that only. Because he had an excellent and bat against him. And Presti's bread and butter, bread and butter. is his slider. It does though cheese too, but he throws that slider a ton. And Susigo is just another one of those weapons
Starting point is 00:32:14 that you can throw up there to, you know, to have a good at bat against someone that typically would just dominate. I'm excited to see if that comes back around to play. What did you have on moving Altova down? I mean, he's hitting all solo homers. I'm guessing that's just trying to get another guy on base before he gets up. I just thought it was interesting.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Like, I think it was Dusty's way of saying like, you're because he had to say like yes he's still going to play second base for us he had to come out and say that and i think it was dusty's way of saying like not only you're going to still be in the game we're going to put you in the freaking three hole bro like go do your thing and you know i don't i don't think it has anything to do with get him you don't think so like brandy's got a 500 on base percentage and he's only hitting solo home runs i think he's trying yeah it definitely it definitely could be that as well and that's just like it kind of goes uh hand in hand with what i'm saying like dusty's like vote of confidence like yeah you're our three-oh hitter you're a guy and then he made a play in the ninth inning. He got that same ball that he spiked into the ground and threw a perfect throw right to Correa and they almost turned too on Wendell, but he beat it out. So, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:18 Altuve is, I think he's a huge, if he can be right defensively and continue what he's doing offensively, obviously that's a huge pickup for them because he's essentially lost them a few games with his defense. I think the other thing with Brantley, Jim, and we wanted the Yankees to do this, make Glassnow think a little bit. The more he's not thinking about throwing wipe out fastballs and wipe out curveballs,
Starting point is 00:33:40 the better of a chance you got because you can get them. I mean, this start is becoming like the reflective glass-now start of these playoffs. You're going to get a couple homers off of them because he throws a two-pitch mix. He threw a couple change-ups yesterday. He's got to work on that pitch. That's an off-season thing. Don't get me wrong. He's really good and he can't get by with that fastball and curveball.
Starting point is 00:34:02 But you find the right one, like you said, with George Springer. if you're waiting for that, these guys can hit that. And yeah, I'm glad you mentioned the Altovae play, Trev. But I'm also mad you said that I was saying he had the Yips. I was defending him all day yesterday. So eat a bug. Didn't you say that? No, I said it.
Starting point is 00:34:21 But I just had a different definition of Yips. I didn't know Yps was only career ending. I dedicated a lot of my day yesterday to not saying it. And yeah, that was huge, man, because I, again, just so entrenched in baseball game. And I guess if I was a Houston fan, I would have been lost in that, but I was so focused on the Ray's rally and Javier to Presley, blah, blah, blah. And it was a chopper, Joey Wendell, very fast and hustles out of the box. So they weren't turning two. But yeah, and I mean, if Altuva spikes that ball. Yeah. Like I would be saying yips.
Starting point is 00:34:56 It's a tie game because the dominance is a double. Yeah. So that that was huge on so many different fronts. I don't want to be this person. Do it, baby. But I am that person. But like, well, because people are blinded by the stuff. Glass now is allowed 10 earned runs this postseason. Opposing batters have an 813 OPS against him and a 500 slugging.
Starting point is 00:35:26 He's given up six home runs in four games. Like, the stuff is amazing. but his results are not amazing. He's been homer prone. We said that yesterday. He's getting them wins. I think he's essentially, he's a two-pitched guy. And if he gets right on that heater, you can hit it, man.
Starting point is 00:35:46 The curveball, you're not going to hit for a homer. I don't think anybody's hit a curbstall for Homer. It's probably all heaters. Am I right? I don't know. But I would guess. Gene Carlow got the curveball, that opposite field. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:57 It was a freak. High curve. Whatever the hell that was. Oh, yeah. Okay. You know, I've been in the box with them and like, it's 100. It cuts a little bit. But it's also like not late cut.
Starting point is 00:36:14 So it kind of, it's not like it's a, if you're sitting on it and you get it in the zone you want and you have it timed up, like you can hit them. That's why you're seeing some of those homers go. Like Springer was obviously sitting heater and was like, I'm going to go get this thing. you can you can you can do it against him he still has to locate he can't just throw the ball down the middle we saw cold too same thing you guys talk about that all the time he tries to overpower someone guys are ready for a hundred now yeah he's allowed 20 he's not 25 base runners in 19 innings uh this postseason so i think people are blinded by the stuff sometimes but like he his results should be much better than they are that's my he's beautiful and he looks british
Starting point is 00:36:59 94 mile per hour change up. He said, he's talking about Springer stutter. And I agree. Like, I've always thought Springer was like the coolest guy on that team. I thought he was most talented guy on that team. I had no idea that he stuttered. And for whatever reason, and like endeared him to me, like knowing that this guy's had to deal with that. You like people with speech impediment guy.
Starting point is 00:37:25 And for me, like it humanizes him. and you just like realize like, okay, like, I like George Springer a lot. Well, good, because I'm a speech impediment kid too. Had to go to a trailer. I've said that. Yeah, so endear yourself to me, everyone. I'm endeared to you a little bit.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Sometimes you best know. A little bit. Yours is gone. Not always. A single 27 championship Yankees on me. I, my speech tournament sneaks up sometimes, but it's mostly gone. I had to put in the work, man. It's a lot of work.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Stutters are worse. I come from a long line of, Men that stutter, I didn't get it, but both my uncle's, my grandpa. That's one my uncle's knows which words to avoid. So you'll never, ever know that he has a stutter. And the other is worse than that. Yeah, it sucks. Didn't someone else, a Yankee?
Starting point is 00:38:22 I have a couple glass now numbers with the football fast. All right. 11 homers this year, I assume this is all regular season. 11 homers given up this year. 7 on the 4, Seamer 1 on a changeup, 3 on a curveball. But I don't know the quality of each one. A little mix. They're like the Stanton one, which was an accident.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Johnny Damon. Johnny Damon. Okay. He's the Yankee that has. He's a fun guy. Yeah, has stutter. He was like my uncle. He knew what the words to avoid. But every now and you'd be like, you're talking weird.
Starting point is 00:38:58 blind confidence from Johnny Damon. He's a caveman. Naked confidence. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. All right. I mean, that's kind of it. Both series are still going.
Starting point is 00:39:09 We got three teams going bullpen day today. Out of the four. That's that schedule coming back. And then Kershaw. Yeah. In the World Series, we have off days. This is the DS and the CS. Which is like really weird that they did that.
Starting point is 00:39:28 It's a giant change. It's a giant change. I understand them not doing it for the DS. But why wouldn't they have done it for the CS if they knew to do it for the World Series? I guess they just wanted to see? It's just to test everything? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know either.
Starting point is 00:39:43 They probably had an end date and then they had to work within it, I guess. Oh, when they were planning this, they were very concerned about the second wave of the coronavirus and like they had to get the postseason in because this is where they make all the money. Yeah. Yeah. I bet they would change it if they can go back. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:40:01 I think that's the show. Anything else? Did we miss anything? No? All right. Cool. We'll see you guys tomorrow. Two more games to review.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Thank you very much for listening. Goodbye.
