Starting point is 00:00:02 Hello and welcome to talking baseball. The Dodgers are the champions of baseball in the year 2020. Let's talk about it. Hello and welcome to talking baseball. The season has wrapped up and the Dodgers have won it all. They kind of went pole to pole on the season. Just never, never stepped down from the leaderboard. My name's Jimmy.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I got Jake sitting right next to me. We're at the Roosevelt Studios in Arlington. Trevor in California, bug bug, dude behind the dish. Got to recap game six here. Talk about it. Trev, you have a visitor?
Starting point is 00:01:00 We got a visitor. Nameless genetics. Founders with us in the studio, in Magnum Condom Studio in Hidden Hills. Jeff Milinovitz is here. He's celebrating the Dodgers World Series. You want to come say hi, Jeff? Wow.
Starting point is 00:01:17 World Series, baby. Go Dodgers. Nameless. That's all of L.A. So that's what's going to happen here for the next couple weeks. We have the Lakers champs, the Dodgers champs. Going to be a lot of L.A. How's New York doing?
Starting point is 00:01:34 And what? What's the question? In anything. In anything. Okay. Well, from what I've heard you say about Gavin Newsome. It seems like I'm not a big guy
Starting point is 00:01:48 I'm not a big guy Happy for your Lakers Happy for your Dodgers Truff huge All the people that have asked me to light up on On screen it's probably going to happen now Wow I already took a gummy
Starting point is 00:02:01 Probably one hit me to have me Treves going to get a sniff in here All right we might have people that are tuning in for the very first time To hear our take on the World Series The Dodgers won Jake you and I were at the stadium what are your thoughts? Holy smokes.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Man, the best team won. I mean, we're going to deep dive and overanalyze a lot of things, and I love it, and that's the beauty of baseball. In this 60-game season, in this weird playoffs, in this weird year, the best team won.
Starting point is 00:02:36 I mean, we've said it from the start. I feel like we ended every episode once a week with, like, is this all just going to be bullshit? And we're going to be talking about how the Dodgers won? because they're a great team that added mooky bets. They end up doing it.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Ereus, incredible performances by him to get them through a couple rounds of the tournament to kind of quench some of their demons. But, man, it was cool. It was cool being there. I mean, first time, you know, my first two World Series games and seeing them win one, it was pretty badass. The Dodgers crowd was very cool tonight. and man, I tell you something that, again,
Starting point is 00:03:17 it's something that I don't fully appreciate yet, and I hope to appreciate more, is that, you know, Dodgers haven't won since 88. Lil Poppy here was born in 89. Yeah, you think of them as this big juggernaut and like the upper echelon and a dynasty of sorts, but they never won. And you go a step before that.
Starting point is 00:03:36 I think they're titled before that was 81, I believe, and then before that it's 65. So if you do the last 50-plus years, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and I'm not saying this is an obnoxious New York sports guy. I'm just saying it almost takes you back. Like you picture L.A. sports and the Dodgers as this premier franchise. And, you know, they've gotten jobbed, you know, the 2017 Astros and some bad luck along the way. And you wonder, you know, we were wondering if this was going to be towards the end of these Dodgers
Starting point is 00:04:09 with Kershaw getting older and Kenley falling off. And now the question is, is it the start of these Dodgers, which is exciting and scary? I talked to our resident Dodgers fan, J.D. And he was kind of, you know, he had all the emotions going because he's a real Dodger fan. And what we said was, if the Dodgers lose this World Series, they're like the Buffalo Bills. Which is a crazy thing to think because they have had so much success. They won the division how many years in a row, eight years in a row, something like that. But yes, the World Series has been slippery for them, but not tonight.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Tonight they, Kershaw gets to hold the trophy up. Turner, after maybe being quarantined a little bit, gets to hold the trophy up. No, he held it up. He already did. And Dave, yeah, he's out on the field doing it. It was just, you know, I had the raise. You guys know I was rooting for them, but to see the Dodgers do it, to see it kind of the enjoyment of all the fans there.
Starting point is 00:05:15 I mean, you guys were there live. It was cool to see. I mean, I got goosebumps watching Kershaw run out there when you tweeted that gym. I thought that was really cool. He was out in the bullpen with the guys, ready to come in this game, ready to do whatever was needed. And now he's a World Series champion. And everyone can shut up about playoff Kershaw.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Yeah, I like that. We have a burn? We got a burn. All right, let's burn it. And then we'll get into actual the gameplay of game six. And then there's a lot of stuff we got to talk about and a lot of stuff. I was, I, well, okay, we'll get there. All right.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Jake. Let's go, baby. Burn, Jakey Byrne. Game six of the fall classic, the Dodgers on the verge of winning the World Series, while the race can almost snell a game seven as Blake tries to fend off Tony Gonsolin in the Dodgers, Ben. Top one, the best. ever do i make you randy baby yeah randy or rosarena solo donger to write one nothing raise it would
Starting point is 00:06:22 remain that way into the six because blake snell was that dude five point one shuddy nine k's only two hits including a single to austin barns that would be quite noble of him but will live in world series history snell gets pulled nick anderson Nick and we're done. Double to Moog Man, how you smoke so good. You're a superstar boy. Why are you still up in the hood? Legal flashback, grounder to first.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Mookie beats the throw. It's two, one, Dodgers. Urias, si se pui, yes, he can. Ends the Dodgers postseason bullpen demons. Collect your bets as Mookie adds the Geico insurance run. Dodgers win 3-1. Take the series 4 to 2. and are your 2020 World Series champs.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Hell yeah. Final burn of the season. Good job. I'm burning out. I'm burnt. I'm getting burnt. Put a cigar out on your arm. Yeah, I'd do it.
Starting point is 00:07:32 I got nothing. Did you wear that to the game? I did. Yeah, that's how he was dressed up the game. Wasn't comfy. That's how he was dressed at the game. It's comfy. It's like coach ballgame if he.
Starting point is 00:07:45 was turning tricks on the highway. Yeah. That was kind of what you were going for. Reno 911 coach ball game. Yeah. I have so many hot takes, Treve, that. Jimmy's hot,
Starting point is 00:07:56 Trevor. The reason, I told Ashland on our stream that I am kind of not looking forward to you saying, I'm right. Because you were right about a lot of things here, Jim. Okay, well, thank you. I wasn't even about,
Starting point is 00:08:11 I wasn't even going to, I wasn't going to pat myself on the back. I was going to make myself look bad, but I appreciate that. I was right about a lot of things. I have good insight sometimes. All three of us were. Mine is Trevor, so.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Here it is. We do these reaction episodes like, you know, when the game emotions are still on us. Fresh wound, Jim. Fresh wound. It's not really rational. If we come back next week and talk, maybe I'll be a little more rational.
Starting point is 00:08:35 I don't hate analytics. I love analytics. I love getting knowledge, and I love using that knowledge on the field. I hate Ray's baseball. I think it's bad for the future of baseball and watching it live and not seeing the TV angles
Starting point is 00:08:51 and actually watching what they do every pitch and the four outfielders and still a double and like going to your worst like the Anderson and Snell move goes against analytics so that's not really like an I hate analytics thing
Starting point is 00:09:08 it's just like you guys were dumb thing analytics tell you to not do that analytics do not tell you to hit bring in a righty for mooky he's been even in his career righties and lefties he's been horrible against lefties
Starting point is 00:09:26 this season snail had struck him out twice he has zero home runs against lefties in this season he's been he's been much better against righties he's been hot he's really good and then you bring in Anderson who's been your worst relief pitcher your worst relief pitcher
Starting point is 00:09:42 in a one game of elimination game. So even if you want to take Snell out because you believe in third time through, and I do believe in third time through, even if you want it, you can't go to Anderson. So I'm like all time hot on the race. And it's not on analytics in general. It's raise baseball. I hate it.
Starting point is 00:10:01 I think it's ugly product to watch when you're at the stadium. I think it's ugly to watch on TV. And I hate it. And that's my hot, hot, hot, hot in the moment take on race baseball. It's hot. I hate it. If you saw my Twitter, I kind of have the opposite take there. One thing we do agree on, Jim, is the Snell to Anderson was not the route to go.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Nothing supports it. Well, yeah, I will say this. Enoceris, our guy, came out with an article today talking about small sample size with relievers. You got to throw it out the window. So what are you going to throw? What we have going on here, the, let me. Jakey the judge jump in here, Trev. Wait, let me go. I got you.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Third time through is the analytics here. Third time through tells you that Blake Snell has a much higher likelihood of getting hit. The small sample size with Nick Anderson and what he's done the past two years says that Nick Anderson is still really good. What analytics doesn't pick up on and could never pick up on is relievers go through funks
Starting point is 00:11:09 just like hitters do. and Nick, you have to know the moment Nick Anderson came into that game, he didn't have a chance, man. Trev, I mean, you've played with a lot of dudes and I mean, bullpen guys go through slumps just like anyone else. They brought him in to face arguably
Starting point is 00:11:28 the best hitter in baseball after what, six straight appearances giving up runs? You can't do that. You can't do that. It was a perfect storm for people to be pissed at the analytics. Like literally, a perfect storm. You have Snell who we've seen in these playoffs go basically
Starting point is 00:11:47 into the fifth inning every time. But today he's Cruz and his pitch count is down. He has control of everything. They show the stat up on you guys didn't see this, but they show the stat on the TV. The one, two, three hitters. Mookie Seeger Trump were 0.4
Starting point is 00:12:03 6 with 6Ks. Okay. So yes, the number of support taking him out. You don't want to see the line of a third time through. We know that. But Snell is dealing, especially against these three guys. Small sample size says Nick Anderson is still a good
Starting point is 00:12:19 reliever. He's not washed, but the baseball person in you says he's lortable. He's in a funk. So where was cash supposed to go with that? You know what I mean? He doesn't rely on. He doesn't if he goes Castillo, are we okay with it? Because I think I am.
Starting point is 00:12:40 A little more okay with it. I agree with that, Jake. That's my take here is Cash is not going to go by gut feeling because that's not what the race do. Now, after the game, he said there wasn't a plan. He said it was his gut feeling. He's been a plan. Castillo was the move.
Starting point is 00:12:57 If you want to bring a guy into face those batters and a high leverage any, you bring your best high leverage reliever in, which has been Castillo, even if Anderson was good, I think Castillo's the guy. He's the play.
Starting point is 00:13:11 So the Anderson, thing I think is the biggest mistake. Yeah. But, dude, he's... Like I said, like I said, you have seven... The rays are the raise. You can't be mad at the race for raising.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Why am? Almost the same thing with the Margot thing. Why am? Jim is mad. I understand that. I don't like the way the race play baseball, and I think it's bad for the growth of the sport. I don't...
Starting point is 00:13:33 I see, I disagree with you. I think it's bad if the entire sport adopts that play, but if one, two teams or outliers doing it, I don't think it's bad for the sport. Because you get heroes like a brasseau who would never be on a starting in a game or in that at bat against chatman uh if it wasn't for the race yeah oh yes if the entire league adopts that side of play i don't like it and like you have like blake snows interview he was whatever blake snows interview was like dude
Starting point is 00:14:00 i studied all the matchups like i knew what they were expecting i knew what changes i need to make i made them that's the best i've pitched in a long long time that was like i was feeling good. He's not going out there saying like, you know, screw the analytics. He's saying, no, I used them to my back. Baseball player, dude, of course he's going to say that. And that was, by the way, that was an excellent. Yeah, your Snell's come a long way. And that's part of the reason. I'm, I'm loving Blake Snell. And I'm luckily, I'm happy I leaned into this a couple days ago, because his interviews have been great. And he was fantastic tonight. And you just can't go to Anderson there. Because, you know, again, we're doing this.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Analytics back in, oh, no. Jimmy just showed me a picture of Justin Turner kissing his wife on the lips. Yikes. And we'll talk about that at the end of the episode where baseball always finds a way to steal the headline in the right way. But Trevor, there's no defending. Nick Anderson, like we're saying that Cash made a mistake by following the analytics. I think we're kind of saying that. He essentially made the same mistake seven times in a row.
Starting point is 00:15:14 And you can't do that. You just can't do that. Don't forget that. This guy knows that feeling when a pitcher's done. He was a catcher. Dude, it'd be like if the Dodgers pitched to Randy a Roserania the same way they were pitching to Willie Adamas. Because, you know, what's the hot hand mean?
Starting point is 00:15:35 You know, statistically, throughout the season, this is the approach we found that works best. No, Adamas sucks right now. So you're throwing him three pitches in the zone, one, two, three. Randy's on another level of hot. So you're trying to find the edges and throw breaking balls under the zone and get him to swing and miss. That's what they did with the bullpen. They just kept going to Anderson and he kept giving up runs. It's insane.
Starting point is 00:16:02 It's literally insane. And Cash is like, well, he's been the best reliever for. for the last two regular seasons. What does that mean, dude? I told you what it means, man. They don't believe in small sample sizes, which, you know, look. It's stupid. It's stupid.
Starting point is 00:16:16 I'm not saying, Anderson was not the right guy to bring in. Castillo, I think, was the play, or he obviously leaves Snellin, but the rays aren't going to do that. You know, even though, like I said, Cash, former big league catcher, he knows when a pitcher's good, knows when a pitcher's bad, but they're going to do what they do, because that's how they get to, you know, two wins away from a World Series
Starting point is 00:16:39 with a $40 million payroll, whatever the hell it is. And I mentioned it in the burn, thank you. Austin Barnes, who gets to start this game, which, you know, that would normally be either Will Smith catches and you have Kiki in the field or you have Austin Barnes behind the dish. Austin Barnes, batting ninth, light hitting catcher.
Starting point is 00:17:00 Snell hangs a slider to him that gives up the hit that I think does force Cash's head. hands there. I could be wrong. Again, everything we're talking about right now says, you know, Snell, third time through the order, blah, blah, blah. I mean, if he's a one hitter and he's 5.2, I like to think they give him, Mookie. So again, hey, credit for Austin Barnes for staying in for another Snell at bat when he was lights out. And Snell, you know, I'm not going to point a, I'm not going to point a finger at him and complain about his day at all, because how could you? but Austin Barnes clips you.
Starting point is 00:17:36 That's the second hit you give up. Now you're going to the third time in the order, and that's when that analytical computer becomes too much to stop, where Kevin Cash says, oh, nope, going back to my guy. And the guy is just a giant mistake at this point, and you feel bad for Nick Anderson, because he really has been the best reliever in baseball the past two regular seasons.
Starting point is 00:17:58 But right now, that doesn't mean shit. The Yankees and Trev, you know, You know, we always bring it back to our Yankees. I think it was a season and a half ago or two years ago. You know, Araldis Chapman went through a funk, and for two weeks, he didn't get used as their closer. The guy has the most armed talent that's ever been in this sport, but he went through a funk, and he was not allowed to be the closer.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Nick Anderson is their fireman, their go-to, and he is clearly in a bad time. And to put him out in that situation, you're mentioning Kevin Cash and the Snell side of it. Putting Anderson in that spot is almost just as fucked up. Do you think he was like, damn, like, am I really going over? We're doing this again? No, you know, he has confidence, obviously.
Starting point is 00:18:48 I don't know, man. If you want to take a ride into Trev's time machine again. Oh, you know I do. Let's go back to like 1992. Really 90s. Oh, yeah. What the fuck would they say if the manager was, walked out and took Blake Snell out of the game.
Starting point is 00:19:05 I don't want to be that guy. Everyone said it. The whole stadium. Holy shit. Every Dodgers fan. Jack Forth pitched 10 in a World Series game. Every Dodgers fan in the stadium cheered it, Trev. The Dodgers fans were stoked.
Starting point is 00:19:18 They were like evil laughing. They won the game right then. Bring it Anderson in. And then Bellinger made a joke in his post game. It was like, yeah, our goal was to get him out in the sixth inning. I guess it worked. Didn't think it was going to happen that way. All time bad moves.
Starting point is 00:19:34 Yeah, I know. I saw that. One of the worst moves in postseason. And like everyone's just harping on the taking Snell out. And it's like it's double you put in your worst reliever. You put in an instant run. It was a weird role with the bullpen they had today. Like bringing him in and like a couple guys they used after him just didn't seem like they had a plan.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Cash said they didn't have a plan. out of the game, which is really surprising to hear that. The plan should always be to go to Aaron Loop, and that's obvious. Aaron Loop is the guy, huh? And guys, the other thing that's keeping me a little more grounded about this whole game and situation, the race put a one spot on the board, and it was a Rosarina with a solo dung in the first. This lineup has been outmatched all postseason, and it's kind of gotten overlooked. The Yanks took them five.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Houston pushed them to seven and out hit them the whole time. And here we are. They only put up one run. And by the way, Gonselin, Floro, Wood, and Baez, I mean, they had a couple. You know, in the first inning, I think they had two more runners on. I think in the second they had one or two. And when they didn't strike then, you know, Gonzalez, who had a great playoffs, Brewster, who was so good.
Starting point is 00:20:58 You have to give that guy like a ton of crap. And, I mean, if you like tears and a flag in a moment, check out him after the game. I mean, that got me and Jimmy both in the stands. And Eurias, dude, I mean, talk about a dude who is now going to be in L.A. lore. Ureas mania, I think, is just kicking off. Again, it's this weird thing where Ureas, I think, pitched in 2016. I think he was 19 years old. And then he was a top prospect, and then things kind of faded out.
Starting point is 00:21:29 he's popping between the bullpen and starting, and now the dude is a hero. Yeah. A hero. They cheered him pretty hard, and we'll get to more of the Dodgers right after these kind words. This episode of Talking Baseball is brought to you by Horth, Clark, Biggs. Say Horth.

Starting point is 00:24:22 Restrictions apply. See draftkings.com slash sportsbook for details. Gambling problem. Call 100. Cal one and a hinder gambler Let's give some credit for the Dodgers Like you said The path they took was cool Jake
Starting point is 00:24:36 They had a little bit of a plan Ureus When when Bruce Star came in Everyone cheered when he got the first out The place went crazy The place started having this anticipation Noise like oh damn we're close Like oh this is like within reach
Starting point is 00:24:50 When Brewster comes out They kind of booed They're taking Bruce star out And then when they say Eureus come in. The dude who pitched three inings to close game seven of the NLCS, he comes in. They kind of get this sensation like, oh yeah, this is our series closer.
Starting point is 00:25:04 And they just go crazy. And that was a cool moment. And then from then on out at the stadium, the atmosphere was actually pretty cool for being limited capacity. And the other thing that I don't think translates on TV. Maybe it does. Maybe it doesn't.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Ballinger plays a phenomenal center field. Oh, it translates, bro. Anything you think is going to fall, like a blooper? You're like, oh, baby, and then he's there. I bet it's much better. I mean, I've seen him play in person, but seeing some of the plays you made tonight from your vantage point,
Starting point is 00:25:40 especially because you guys were right there. He was getting great jumps, which talked about the last game, that won 50-50 ball that he made routine. And again, I mean, another ball hit into the gap tonight that, you know, you see it off the bat. And, you know, for years, seen that be a double and with shifts and with the fact that that you know six three
Starting point is 00:26:02 handsome strong boy runs like a freak of nature you know it ends up looking like a routine fly ball where i don't know i think a lot of other center fielder's might make that look questionable and all those little things end up changing games of this magnitude and i mean cody's a monster and also you know how about i zoom out a little a little less When I look at Cody Bellinger and Mooky Betts, they've got two MVP's in their outfield. Like, you know, sometimes we overbreak these things down. Cody Bellinger got to bat sixth for these Dodgers this year because he had a slow, regular season. They're freaks.
Starting point is 00:26:47 They're freaks. And, you know, I was a little off. I rated Belly in my Hot Guys list at the beginning of the season. I was kind of off of them during the season. I felt like he didn't keep himself up that well. but pandemic will do that to you but tonight ashland uh on our stream confirmed he is hot so what's his next look because right now he's got the young guy like long hair kind of got the stoner thing going i mean does he get tight does he go crazy does he stay there
Starting point is 00:27:16 he's in hollywood he might get like that hollywood transformation he starts wearing or something like that, you know? Yeah, I like that a little bit. Slick back his hair a little bit. Yeah, definitely getting slicked back. Yeah. Maybe try to, like, act, like, get in a movie. No way.
Starting point is 00:27:36 TV show appearance. He's in Arizona kid. It's going to suck him in, man. Yeah. Alex Wood, World Series champ. They found a nice lane for him today, huh? Really nice. He hadn't pitched in a long time.
Starting point is 00:27:52 It looked like L.A. had the dominant bullpen. So all the things the race needed to do this World Series. This playoffs really look, Harry in the chat always would point out Houston's expected batting average against Tampa's in that series and Tampa found a way to win. And then here they win the bullpen game, game two,
Starting point is 00:28:11 four they get like crazy, weird luck to win that game. So like they really needed some trickery to happen to beat these Dodgers because they're an analytically driven team. All the numbers were pointing to the Dodgers. The Dodgers having, what, at the beginning of the series, a 70% chance, and it was easy for them. The Colorado Rockies just had a good tweet. They tweeted, congratulations to the Colorado Rockies, the only team to beat the Dodgers in the series this year. And that's kind of crazy that the Dodgers only lost a series all season.
Starting point is 00:28:43 I mean, they went pole to pole. They're just the best team in baseball. We said that would happen. We were like, there is a world where the Dodgers are just. It was an easy call. Like, yeah. We said 45 games. They won't 43.
Starting point is 00:28:57 The Rays had the better bullpen, Trev. They just didn't have enough starting pitching. That's the biggest issue that I have that, you know, I was hoping the Yankees would learn from it last year and they didn't. And now the Dodgers or now the Rays are going to have to learn from it. If you only have three starting pitchers that you really trust, you better have five bullpen pieces that you really, really love. And those guys better be locked down in the postseason.
Starting point is 00:29:21 And you got to bank on at least like one or two of your release. relievers not coming through in the postseason these days. So if you have three starters, you can't do the five and fly. You can't do, our starters only go two times through and we're going to lean on our bullpen in the postseason. It does not work. I mean, the Dodgers, they kind of do that, but they have enough arms that they can turn into multiple inning pieces.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Like Dustin Mays kind of a starter, Gonsoling kind of starter, and they turn them into reliever pieces. and other long long guys like that. I mean, the Red Sox last, the Nationals last year, they put Corbyn to the pen.
Starting point is 00:30:03 They used Shurs are on a throat day, didn't they? They did that. The Dodgers, the year before that, they put Price to the pen a couple games. They put Avaldi to the pen. The Astros before that, Morton was coming out of the pen and backing up McCullors.
Starting point is 00:30:19 The winning formula includes having too many starters. and throwing some to the pen. The winning formula, which the raise and the Yankees need to fucking learn, is not having three starters and too much bullpen. I think we just seen it time and time again. So I'm going to be mad at whatever team tries to do this next year, and then they gas out their pen again.
Starting point is 00:30:39 And I think they have people for length, but they were relying on Glassnow. And as you so brilliantly called, Glassnow didn't do anything. I mean, that was kind of the storyline for their starting pitchers. I think Morton pitched okay. Snell obviously was amazing during the World Series, but Glassnell heard him. And there's another elephant in the room here.
Starting point is 00:31:00 It's the injury bug. I mean, we mentioned even Houston this year. They lost Justin Verlander. The Yankees were down Severino, Domingo Hermann, James Paxton. That's a pretty good three going into a playoff series. Those are guys the Yankees were missing. The race, although he's probably not a household name
Starting point is 00:31:18 that's going to get a lot of people hot right now, Yanni Chorinos is a really good. pitcher for them and a great name to say, Yonnie Chorinos. And even guys like Chas Roe and Colin Poe Shea out of their bullpen. I mean, those are impact pieces too. And if you go through this Dodgers team, you know, they had Walker, they had Clayton, that Ureus turned it up to another level to the postseason that was special and huge for them. Because if he didn't, if Ureis was not the guy he was, I think we're at least talking about game seven. Slash, we might be talking about the race playing the Braves.
Starting point is 00:31:52 So his performance can cannot go overlooked. And speaking of performance is not going overlooked. Guys, we haven't even talked about the MVP yet. Corey Seeger won the MVP award. Just their six foot four lefty hitting shortstop who won MVP of the World Series and the CS. So he's a piece for them. Yeah, I mean, that's kind of like that.
Starting point is 00:32:18 Cal Ripkin Jr. look alike at shortstop. That's the thing is the Dodgers have no weakness and they have too much depth everywhere. The thing, like, you can't say it enough. They were the class of the National League and then they got Mookie Betts and Bruce Starr-Grattorall. You just added. And Trinan. And Trinin was good. And Trinin was good.
Starting point is 00:32:40 All their additions really helped them. And like their young guys stepped up and were pretty good. like they had everything you could want and it showed you got to give kudos to the front office i mean obviously the players did what the players did and they were incredible but they put this team together like going out and getting mooky seger's line is pretty crazy they uh they have a goddamn wagon i mean
Starting point is 00:33:07 we uh i can't believe for 13 years this this name shouldn't be getting mentioned but gavin lux was the easy favorite to win the n l rookie of the year this year. They basically said, we don't need you yet, kid. You know, he could have been batting eighth instead of Kiki or Chris Taylor, so that's in the hole. And they just have more and more coming. They are the model organization in the sport right now, although I do think a lot of organizations are going to copy Tampa, and I think that's part of Jimmy's frustrations. And I will add to what he was saying, the shifts tonight, Trev, were next level, man.
Starting point is 00:33:46 What, like, what they were doing with Bellinger was they had the second baseman, I mean, almost playing a shadow behind the first basement. And then they had this massive gap right where you think the second base shift would be on a left-handed hitter. And you're kind of looking at it and you're just like, this isn't baseball. It does, like, it hits that old man trigger that you don't want it to hit, but you're just like, what the, fuck are we doing here?
Starting point is 00:34:17 I think that's okay. What about four outfielders and still giving up a double? It's not always going to work and that's the thing is when the shifts don't work they look fucking horrible. Dumb. When a jam shot ground ball
Starting point is 00:34:32 No, even when they work, I don't like it. If the base hit. Even Meadows hitting that hot shot right to who played second today. Taylor. It's like, yeah, it sucks. It does suck. Rob's looking into it.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Yeah. Rob's looking into a lot of things. I saw Joe Maurer get. Rob's looking into the mirror and putting lipstick on us on the face. I can't believe. BPD, you got the passing button over there? Were you guys there for that?
Starting point is 00:35:02 Passing. So everyone's hot about Turner coming back out and they said, nope. They told him to isolate and he did not. Yeah. That's a fine coming. I mean, all the baseball reporter, like all the people are like really, really mad.
Starting point is 00:35:20 They're really mad about for Turner? Yeah. I happen. Before we do more of the Turner stuff, and lighter news, Jake's tweet was on TV apparently. So what did I do? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:35:34 FS1 used your video. I don't know which one. Oh boy. But someone texted me. Hey, this is kind of, so congrats, Jake. Tell me my dick wasn't out. Yeah, don't like,
Starting point is 00:35:44 Like people are very, very, very mad about that. Bill Shakin saying the test he took yesterday got an inconclusive result today. Inconclusive results are not uncommon. What tweet of Jake's got on FS1? I don't know. There's a video or something. Holy shit. I was not watching TV because I'm here.
Starting point is 00:36:09 Well, that's kind of on you. Yeah. I'm sorry. I'm fired. fired up live on the air the first thing I thought when all this came out was are the race going to protest this game
Starting point is 00:36:21 or like is there going to be some sort of thing with the game there can't be but I thought about it right like he was an illegal player in the game I mean a lot of people are going to go there and that's going to suck I mean yeah I mean I don't want that to be like known like
Starting point is 00:36:38 I said that the MLB the MLB headlines that are going to leak out in the next week or so are going to be as bad as it gets. And that's why Rob Manfred has no idea why he gets on stage. And 11,000 people empty out their lungs to boo him. And he's taken aback by it. Who just watched their favorite team win the World Series for the first time in 32 years?
Starting point is 00:37:04 The happiest people on Earth took a moment and seriously booed you, Manfred. And he was surprised by it. It's like, dude, what are he talking? Why would you be surprised? He's going to get flack for this Justin Turner stuff too, dude. Well, no. All of baseball Twitter's calling for him to get like, like, if this doesn't, I just read a bunch. Like, if this doesn't get Manfred fired, I don't know what will.
Starting point is 00:37:31 This is the biggest disgrace we've ever seen what a slap in everyone. That's what all the writers are saying. What a slap in everyone's face. Holy crap. I think they're going to say like, hey, I was with these guys already. So if I expose them, I expose them, and we asked if it was cool, and all my friends, all the teammates wanted me out there. I think that's what, like, they're going to say.
Starting point is 00:37:57 And then each person will have their own opinions on that. So I feel bad for JT because he's a friend of the program. It's an impossible situation to be in. Holly. Maybe they know that it's a false positive or something. I don't know. No, no, no. He got tested two days in a row with a positive.
Starting point is 00:38:24 So he's positive, positive. People just don't care. I don't know. No one cares, man. A lot of people care. A lot of people care. Yeah, a lot of people think they care. I mean, do we need to spend more time about my Rockies beating this Dodgers team?
Starting point is 00:38:41 Should we relive that series? No. Okay, no, no, no, no. No more Rockies. That is kind of cool. They've had that lined up. They were ready for that. They couldn't wait.
Starting point is 00:38:56 Yeah. Do you see my Wizard of Oz tweet I had lined up, Trev? I didn't. I didn't. Oh, you're. Hi, Trev. Is it going to be sad at first and then giggle. Okay, Treve.
Starting point is 00:39:07 Did you put it out there? Yeah, I'll play it for you right now. I said, Kevin Cash in the pregame meeting with the analytics department. Look. I won't be any trouble because I don't. don't need a thing. And I won't try to manage things because I can't think. That's mean,
Starting point is 00:39:27 Jim. It's mean. It's mean. It is mean, Trev. But it's also like on the nose, funny. You can't hate on the race for being the race.
Starting point is 00:39:38 That's the exact reason. That's why he's hating them. The exact reason I hate them. They're not the Yankees, Jim. I don't need them. I met the, I met at the,
Starting point is 00:39:50 I'm mad at the Yankees because they do the same shit as the race. How have you not followed this? He shouldn't act like the rays. Let the rays be the raise. Let them be their own thing. Let them be their job. The Dodgers are the raise, but they don't take it to that next level of racism.
Starting point is 00:40:04 Well, we've got mad at Dave Roberts when he went against the racism, didn't we? And then all of a sudden, because they actually won the freaking world series, they were like acting like that didn't exist. No, that Roberts.
Starting point is 00:40:16 You can't be mad when it doesn't work out. If that's your system, that's your system. Stop acting like I was. I've been mad at the race since where they were like winning and stuff. It's true. You've been mad.
Starting point is 00:40:25 And I am mad at the decision to take Smele out. I want that to be my official statement. Official statement. All of this. Mark that down. I'm mad that they took Snell out. But this is the raise, dude.
Starting point is 00:40:36 This is what they do. Yeah. So it's not a surprise. I'll remind you what Joe Madden said when he put on the most shifts in the history of baseball. He had the team that shifted the most when he managed the raise. And then he went. to the Cubs and had and then employed the least amount of shifts in all of MLB and they said why don't you do that anymore and he said well because we actually have good players now so we don't need to do
Starting point is 00:41:00 things like that it's like hey you're really rich let's listen to manford get booed 2020 is going to be remembered hmm you can't even talk 2020 is going to be remembered as a baseball see in like no other are clubs Yeah we were there for that yeah we were there for that Yeah what was up with the speeches What was up with Davis's speech?
Starting point is 00:41:37 Stadium was at a quarter capacity by the way for those booths Yeah quarter capacity What was up with Dude what was up with Robertson Davis's speeches Like they just got like lifetime achievement awards At the some foundation of like seriousness I don't know They needed to play those dudes off with music.
Starting point is 00:42:01 This is weird. Let them have their moment, bro. They're just about to be the Buffalo Bills. Instead, they're the world champions. Davis dropped some line that was really weird. Roberts, thanks, stripling. I like that. That was cool.
Starting point is 00:42:15 What was that Davis line that he dropped that I turned to you? I was like, what? It was weird. I was trying not to get lost in it, and then you were getting more lost in it. I was like, what is he saying? Ships passing in the night. I don't know
Starting point is 00:42:28 I think I'm going through Jakey's final burning thoughts What the fuck do we do with Randy or Rosa Raina? Yeah His come down from being the best ever Is going to be a little odd Like what does he do tomorrow When he doesn't get to wake up And hit World Series home runs
Starting point is 00:42:48 You know what I'm saying He's going to do a bunch of push-ups Like he always does That's what Randy does He's going to eat chicken and rice and do push-ups all day long. Did the raise start him at the alternate site next year? Maybe the analytics might say.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Another year of service time. Another year of service time. You think Snell's gone, Trev? We do this pre-show. Jake thinks Snell's gone, thinks that his money's too big. How does Snell ever want to pitch for them again? honestly honestly i mean i know we're in the moment he's he's the kind of guy that will question them on that and continue to do it like he's not going to just like forget about it so they're
Starting point is 00:43:41 going to have to answer to him and give him you know i don't know they're going to have to have a real sit-down talk with snow i don't know how would you ever i think they're never a real sit-down talk with each other too the front office and cash and said we did we fuck this up. Do you actually think so, though? I do. I do. I do. Because it doesn't even, the analytics, having that tonight. The analytics don't even support it. Like, that's what, did you hear Ken Rosenthal ask him? I didn't. I didn't. I heard that he was,
Starting point is 00:44:14 someone in the chat said something about, but I didn't see the clip. Here, he went at him. Did you pull Blake's now? You know what? The second question. It felt like at that point Blake had given everything that he, that we could have asked for out of him. Tough decision, gut-wrenching decision. Nick, Anderson's been arguably the best reliever in baseball the last two years, wanted him to get through the inning.
Starting point is 00:44:35 Totally understand the question, the criticism that's going to come with it, but confident that we had two really good options to choose from. I understand this is the way you play. You guys had the best record in the American League, beat the Yankees, beat the Astros, got to game six of the World Series. But there were other factors here. Anderson had given up runs, six straight appearances. Blake had been really dominant against the top of their line.
Starting point is 00:44:59 lineup. Mookie has been much better against righties than lefties. Did all that enter into it or no? Just gave them all like the analytics right there. And what a cash said to that? Everything enters into the decisions that we're making. We want to do right. We want to make the best decision or I want to make the best decision that helps our club win. And Blake was outstanding for us.
Starting point is 00:45:22 You know, looking back on it, you really wish that Nick would have been able to get through it or we would have been able to get through it. But I'm okay with the decision. I think that's what makes us special is that we rely on each other. We value information. And knowing how talented the Dodgers lineup is to avoid any pitcher from seeing them three times through
Starting point is 00:45:42 makes a lot of sense. That still doesn't excuse like why you went to Anderson who's an instant run. That is the thing. It's not the taking Blake Snell out. Like the rays are going to raise. They're going to go by that. And it's a shitty decision in hindsight.
Starting point is 00:45:59 but yeah the Anderson thing is I don't know yeah it's crazy well congrats to the Dodgers go Dodgers man I was trying to find out if your shirt was the most popular Trev oh yeah tell me
Starting point is 00:46:17 I think it I don't I can't get in but I think it is I think I saw a lot of Jeff bought two shirts thank you Jeff love that Jeff nameless ad you. Yeah, I didn't do anything. Our graphics department did.
Starting point is 00:46:37 Anything else we need to do, man? I mean, you know what we need to do? We need to do like a huge thank you to everyone that's listened to us. Yeah, I've had fun with the chat and live streaming tonight. Yeah, it's a bit of a, it's always a bit of a realization or come down like, oh, man. We just did a lot of work and people listened to us every day and stuff. So we got to go to the World Series because of you guys, so we appreciate it very much.
Starting point is 00:47:05 We'll stay with two times a week in the off season. There might be one week where there's only one, maybe not. But it'll be two times a week. You know, the stove's going to get hot. VoiceMow episodes will come back. Hopefully we can get more interviews coming now that guys will be free again and stuff like that. So that's the plan.
Starting point is 00:47:25 But, I mean, this was a crazy stretch. How many episodes did we just do? during the playoffs every day basically right couple two three couple two three thanks everyone uh get excited the next couple weeks well Trevor is going to rank his top 200 relief pitchers um so we'll have that come out every deep dive every hour every hour uh no man it's uh you know not not to get not to out sap Jimmy. But yeah, me and my best butt. Just got to go to a couple World Series games.
Starting point is 00:48:04 And now I'm also trying to make Trevor jealous, so he'll make sure to come next here. A little fucked up. Pretty cool stuff. We had a blast. And I mean, holy, I've dropped the F-bomb a couple times, but, you know, having conversations in May saying, hey, if there's no baseball, what the hell are we going to do
Starting point is 00:48:24 to, you know, now having a really cool postseason. We got through a season and we'll, uh, I think this is going to be a wild off season, man. I think some teams are in weird spots. Hopefully we get a little bit of labor negotiating, just so we can find our wheelhouse again.
Starting point is 00:48:40 But yeah, I know that gets drive going. Yeah. I'm watching, uh, Vince Scully on the TV. Jeff and I's neighbor. We'll try to get in with him.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Like that, yeah, might be my goal for the off season. Okay. Man, 20, 25. 25 recap episodes,
Starting point is 00:49:01 25 pregame shows, and 20 live streams in 30 days. Jesus. And hey, we, we, doesn't even count talking yanks.
Starting point is 00:49:14 We get, we get to be tasty and sexy, but shout out to producer Bug Bug Dude, Zach Esposito on the pregame show. Kyle. All the editors, Kyle, Robbie. Keith, Robbie, Anthony,

Starting point is 00:49:56 Oh, yeah. Oh, I just text. I text it. Katie right after last out. I said, hey, my weekends and nights are free again. She sent back fireworks. Ooh. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:50:07 Oh. Oh. Yeah. A naked gym. Fireworks. Like the 4th of July. Made me melt like a popsicle on the 4th of July. All right.
Starting point is 00:50:17 Yeah, love the chat. We'll see you in spring training. Shout out COB for moderating all the, all the live streams. It's crazy. Love you guys. We will be, I mean, you'll hear from us soon. reviewed someone today and that would be a little episode coming out soon and we might have some Dodgers on maybe no promises.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Trying. Trying. Trying. Oh, teaser. Teaser. All season stuff comes soon enough. You're going to have guys with options and stuff that have to be decided in three days.
Starting point is 00:50:48 So that kind of sucks. Trev, this will be the first time you're doing this. You think it's over. Next week we'll get like our first big news drop and we're like, fuck. We've got to talk about this. There's basically three. weeks in January that there's not stuff and then the rest of the time there is. Yeah. When you're the best in the business at what you do, you want to do it. So I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Ooh. Love that. I'm talking, that's we. That's we. That's collective. I love that. Collective. And Jeff, too. He's the best in the business. Got to get ready. That's right. Getting you high. You don't have to get ready. And when you're high, Stakes. I like reading Trevor Ploof stuff. It's got a lot of good takes. All right.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Goodbye. Love you all. We will see you very soon. And if you just listen to talking baseball, I guess at the very, very end here, I can plug all the other shows that are on the network. Check them out.
Starting point is 00:51:48 Go to jamboremedia.com, and there's a whole, like, I don't know, we have like 20 shows now. You better end it with A-Rodd baseball. You better do it. Thanks. Thank you.
