Hello and welcome to talking baseball. We have a very exciting episode for you today. We are drafting baseball teams, parts of teams, not full teams. Catch up. Get excited. Let's do it. Hello and welcome to talking baseball presented by Draft Kings. Thank you very much for joining us today. My name is Jimmy. I have Jake sitting right next to me.

I have Trevor coming to us from California. And I have the bug, bug, bug, darling behind the desk producer, B.B.D. A little bit of a different episode today as we are drafting parts of teams because we're in this weird area of spring training where like nothing's happened. Actually, Jake, can you hit him with the bullet points of things that happened that we're not discussing? I mean, there's extensions, Hunter Dozier, Brian Snicker. We'll touch more on those Thursday because we've got stuff to do today. Treve, how are you? As you can tell by this outfit, I'm kind of feeling myself today.

Outfield's on your mind, huh? I have my outfield already picked. I know you guys aren't going to pick them. That's good to know. That's always good. I had a great workout that I called you right after the workout. You saw like confidence, right? I love it.

And I bring it into the show today. Workout, Trev strikes something in me that I just love. It was one of my favorite parts about the game. Getting a room with some dudes and lifts some weights. It's fun. I always loved winning. Okay. When I played.

Who cares? We're drafting units. All right. A quick little run-through of how this is going to work for the audience. There will be five categories. Each person has to draft one team from this category. Starting pitching, the rotation, the bullpen, the infield, and the outfield. So that includes defense and offense from the infield and the outfield.

Catcher is part of infield and stadium. So that's the stadium that your team will play in. So kind of, you know, match the dimensions to the skill set a little bit. Can't have two units from the same team. So if Trevor drafted the Reds infield, then he can't take any other parts of the Cincinnati Reds. So there's a little bit of strategy involved there. Yeah. All right.

I'm just hearing all these rules now. Oh, my God. We're talking. So this is great. I love it. I love it. I love it. I'm ready.

Are you kidding me? Let's peel back the onions for the people. You're a monster. We tried to get Trev all the rules. Jake specifically tried to tell Trev these rules pregame before we went live, and Jake said, I don't care, I don't need to know, I don't need to know. I will navigate whatever maze you try to put me through. I am going to do that.

That still holds true. All right, so before we get started and figure out the draft order, let's announce to everyone each other's team names and who the manager of the team will be. Jake, what's your team name? My team name is the Jake's. Nice. That makes sense. Oh, Trevor's head dropped.

I think I took his team name. That's horrible. Okay. And my manager is Jake Taylor for Major League. Oh, I like that. That's good. You saved it a little bit there. Yes.

Thanks, Jeff. All right, my team is called the plofs, P-L-O-O-F-S. Kind of like, ploof. And my manager is Trevor Plouf, kind of a coincidence. A lot of people asked, like, did you hire him as a manager just because his name is similar? And I said, no, it's just he was the best man for the job. So I'm the ploofs managed by Trevor Plouf, BBD. And we are team BBD.

Okay. Oh, wow. Yeah, very creative. And our manager is going to be Alex Cora because the players like them, and we're not afraid to bend the rules of the game a little bit, compromise the integrity of the sport. I like that. Okay.

I like that. Trev. My team name is the aliens. That's good. It's good. There's not enough teams named the aliens. There's a big three basketball team that's named the aliens, but the marketability of a name like the aliens is.

That's good. Who's your manager? And my manager is an alien. Yeah. Yeah. I thought that might be the case. Yeah. Gabe Kapler, okay.

One of the sexiest aliens alive. Yeah. That's part of the strategy. Yeah. Okay. So I win that round, right? Everyone wrote down, I don't know. Do you hate yourself?

Because my team's named after you. Everyone wrote down a number before the show started. Whoever's number is closest. to the random number we generate gets to choose their draft order. So I should say our numbers now? Yeah. Because we're about to do the random.

I wrote down number 84. I'm thinking it's going to be high. I went 32. Jake went 32. I went with 11. Wow. And Trev, what's it say? I can't say.

24. Okay, 24. Random number generated is 63. Okay, so I think you, you, would you put BBD? 11. Okay, so you lost. Yeah, so you're... Glad we established that.

You get first choice? First choice of what you want. I'd like first overall. Oh, okay. I think there's a one-one in this draft. Okay. I will take the two-pick. Okay.

Trevor, do you want three or do you want the wraparound four? I want the wrap-round. Yeah, you do. Yeah, you do. So I'm the third pick. You're the third pick. Okay. Okay.

Oh, yes. Okay. No one look at my notes here. Jimmy O'Brien with the first. First pick, you think there's a clear one of one? I don't think it's like clear, clear, but I'm happy to get it one-one. You're very comfortable going one. It's a good back pedal.

Yeah. It's a little backpedal. It was my clear. Like, I want it. Okay. I think it's debatable, but I... Wow. Does that mean I'm officially on the board?

Yeah. All right. I'm taking the Dodgers starting rotation. It's a good pick. It's a good pick. That's a good pick. They're good. Taking the Dodgers starting rotation.

A little reminder, they picked up the Cy Youngwinner Bauer. They have Bueller, Kershaw, Price, Ureus, Dustin May, Dodgers rotation. I want them. Now, the Dodgers are the only team that I found in my notes that every category we have, they're in the top four, which, you know, we're looking for the top four. That was the only risk with the Dodgers. You're going to exile the rest of that team.

Yep. But the rotation is clearly one of two that are fighting for the top. top rotation, which leads to my draft pick, and I think it's chalk early. I'm going with the Padres, starting pitching. That's always interesting to me. You didn't want to find the number one of a different category? I think they are the number one. I think that's where you're wrong.

We did this before on talking baseball. Bauer, I think, puts them all the page. I think the Padres have more high-end potential when Darvish is right, when Snell is right. De Nilsson-Lamette, what he casually did last year. I think the Dodgers and the Padres, you could have that number one debate all day and twice on. Sunday, I wanted one of those two starting rotations.

If you follow our behind-the-scenes blog, that's what I told Zach Esposito that I think you need one of those two rotations. It's kind of like the starting quarterback in the draft. So when you took the one pick, I thought you might be on to the rotations as well, James. I'm taking the San Diego Padres. I'm comfortable telling you guys I would have gone with those same picks in those spots. Okay. Thank you. Am I making my pick? Is there more discussion we want to have on those?

I don't think so. Treve, how are you feeling? BPD let his thoughts out. It's chalk early. I honestly think I have my whole draft mapped out, and I think I'm going to get everything that I want. It's all going to line up. It's one of those drafts. I can already feel that.

Looking good for the aliens, then. BPD? You are on the board. BPD, and then back-to-back, Trevor. I think this might be the first pick that is somewhat controversial, because I think the one-two are pretty, you know what you're doing. I'm taking in the first round, I want that Phillies infield. You get catchers count. I get Real Mudo and Real Mudo with that infield.

Okay. And infield is quality all around. I'll tell you this. Real Mudo catcher gives me an advantage over every other catcher. I'll tell you, saying catchers count saved you a little bit. That's how they ended up this high in my field that I don't think was on my board nor Jake's board. I'm guessing not on Treves board. So value-wise, I think.

think you just fucking blew it, but not a bad pick. I don't want another position group from them. So I'm taking it now. Jim, you can say. I've got a plan. That's a bad pick. It's crazy. Real, so it's Real Mudo, Hoskins.

Cigura. Segura at second. Dedy at short. Bomb at third. I hope bombs in all star out of nowhere for you. The Real Mudo kind of says that you could have, I think you could have taken them at any point. Yeah, I think you could have got good plans for the end of my draft. I'm happy you got your catcher.

You could build a lineup around that. They were eighth on my infield board. Like, BPD, if you took that in the fourth round, I think we all would have been like, oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, good swings. I love Reese's swing, Real Mudo's swing. Archie Bradley said bomb's going to hit 30 this year. So look, I mean, they're serviceable, but it's not a first round pick.

This is the Real Mudo part is what makes it. Yeah. You got the clear number one catcher. Okay. It's a clear. Can I like give my little, like, what I'm thinking about my franchise? Because I think that I have to... It sounds like you're going to draft hot guys.

As long as it doesn't reveal too much of your further strategy. Yeah. I'm in the entertainment business. Okay. All I want to do is entertain. By winning World Series. It's a good way to entertain. I'm like a New Age front office.

I just want people to buy my stuff. Don't care about World Series. If it happens, it happens. I'm just trying to make the playoffs. I am the New Age Front Office. That's the way I'm thinking. Okay. And I want Storylines.

storylines. I'm going to sell this team. Okay, so you're looking at... Before I knew we had to be in like a specific area, I was going to build my franchise on Mars and Elon Musk was going to be my owner. I thought we were going that far, but we're not. You can still dream that. It's just a lot for a little on the back end, so... Okay, wrap around picks. Back to back. Tide end. You love taking the tight end early.

I want to put this group in the first round just because I think they deserve it after what they did last year. I'm going to take the Houston Astros starting infield. Okay. They were my number one infield. Okay. I like that, Trev.

No catcher. Gregman, Stud, Correa just, he did something for me last year. He took, what is the expression? The bull by the horns? Yeah. He was incredible. Well, then you have to say Al-Tuva is going to bounce back.

He was great in the playoffs. Al-Tuvae was great in the playoffs. One thing I do want to switch. I don't know if I can do this. Can I put Yordon Alvarez at first base? He's working out of it. He's working out there. That's legal.

That's a catch. Thank you. That's a catch. And then, yeah, Jason Castro behind the plate this year. Stanford guy handles the staff well. Just like you. Which will bring me to my second pick. Mm-hmm.

I am going to take the new. York Mets starting rotation. I love everything. We have our front of the line ace, the best pitcher in baseball, Jacob de Grom. And then we got the fun guys who could be great as well.

Thor needs to come back, be healthy, but he's got a personality. Stroman, I think, is going to have a really great year. Oh, because it's not for just only this year? Will Thor will be back at some point. Injured guys are measured.

He's like middle of the road, middle of the season, right? Injured guys are injured. whatever doesn't matter I still want I still want this rotation for the storylines I want Strowman It's a good rotation

I want Walker DeGrom is my guy They were my three I mean I had I think they are the three I had Dodgers projects You guys took you guys took We'll see who BBD

You guys were gonna go start a rotation first We'll see who BPD takes And now I am with the Mets And now I will finish out my lineup I'm taking the Dodgers outfield Okay That's a good pick I mean bets and belly man

Like you see those names and then you think about what that actually is and it's like Jesus. Yeah. I think Pollets, I forgot bet. I was your left fielder as well who's very nice. What was that, Treve? I forgot Betts was there.

I was like, belly. Oh, yeah. Buckey bets. The Red Sox gave him to the Dodgers. Jake? Good picks. Yeah, it's a good pick. Good pick Dodgers.

Treb, I like your two picks. They were hiring my boy. Okay. So I'm nervous about Jimmy on the wrap around here. Wow. Because you can take two picks. and Treve's Rapparounds well

Treve made me nervous with that Houston pick because that's a great pick Did you have them high on your infield board? That's a really solid pick I did I had them one

I had the top two were floatable Yeah What I I know who number two is What I think I'm going to do And I think this is a No

You can't. Oh, I took their starting rotation. Oh my gosh. How do I know the rules better than you do? I'm not going to take the Padres. Okay. You know what? I got excited thinking about Trev saying the revenue stuff and I was like,

oh, Tatees and the fans. Because that's where I thought he was going with that whole shit, whole speech. Sorry. I thought you were going to go Padres. I'll go Dodgers Infield. Dodgers Infield. I get Will Smith, who's up there.

and the catcher world. Go check that out. Max Muncie, a little fat like me. I'm putting Gavin Lux at second base and not Chris Taylor. I'm a Lux guy. I didn't have their infield that high. And then Seeger and Turner. I had them as a million-old group, the lowest of any

of their groups, if that makes sense. The other groups had more flaws. Yeah. In my opinion. You'll get steady production. I'm pretty happy with where that's at. Doing my prep, I was like, it's not a surprise. As Dagers are really good because they rank very high on all this.

Every position group. Jimmy with the back to back. Yeah. Belly to belly. I got to say I'm pretty excited. I don't know how people are going to rate my board, but I'm based on your board. I think I told Zach by top four, and I think I'm about to get three of my top four. Sure.

So I'm excited about that. With the infield, I will be taking the Padres infield. It's a very good infield. It's a very good infield. Hosmer. Who's your second baseman? Don't care. We've got to...

Cronin. Yeah. Croninworth. Croninworth. Yeah. Hot boy, Hosmer. I mean, a lot of morbidity. Not taking the bed on Kim. Okay.

No, but he's around. No. Well, yeah. So I'm taking Padres infield with my two. And then with my three, I am taking the Braves outfield. Oh, okay. I have Acuna. I have Ozuna.

Pachet, is he going to be playing center field? He's currently the CF. I mean, you got Acuna and Ozel. I really, really like that. I mean, the fucking star power on my team with Acuna, with Tatis, with the Dodgers starting rotation is through the roof. Yeah. Oh, that's a good play.

I'm selling tickets end winning games right now. That's a good play. Where I was worried. Great job, too. Great job, Jim. Thank you. I, going back, people heard my thought process. I got nervous about your wraparound.

I think there's another position in play here that there's a serious value situation. In the bullpen, there's only two teams that really jumped out to me. I have them a toss-up of what do you like, what don't you like. You know what? I am going to go with the Brewers. I'm going to take Hater and Devin Williams I think you get two of the most elite relievers Righty lefty

And with my starting pitching being so good You know I don't need the depth of the bullpen I want the high end guys I'm taking the Brewers Boor's Bullion I don't love that pick I had them fourth and you had them fourth on my reliever pool And you took them number one Well that's because they're number one

Bullpen in the high end stuff Two guys You get those two guys who you can use wherever I like those two guys I could give you four innings But I even in a yeah I don't know I wrote them down on my list of teams I would consider. Let's see, where do I want to go next? I think I'm also going to do my bullpen play.

A little bit of homerism. I'm going to take the Yankees' bullpen. They have a lot of guys that, like, I just trust. They've been pitching in the playoffs. Chapman, I'm banking on you to not give up a game, a season-ending home run for me. He's done it before. Chapman, Britain, and are as good,

like a top two guys in your bullpen as you can find. Chad Green is one of the best firemen in the sport And I was and I was thinking about it on the drive-in today Like getting Justin Wilson and Darren O'Day To be like your solid middle middle of the bullpen guys Solid guys solid guys Trevor Plough I got two picks

Yep Okay he's dancing you guys aren't gonna I could just do them all because you guys aren't gonna pick any of the guys I'm gonna pick I'm gonna pick I mean that's like I'll go bullpen here I'll go bullpen here you guys don't don't Don't hedge your bets and say that your bad picks are our fault. outfield. I want Buxton in a center field running it down. Hopway Max Kepler and right field running it down and then Alex Kierloff the new young banger coming up and taking over left and like I said I'm just going to let these boys run out there all day.

Yeah like you opened up with people aren't going to like your bed. Yeah. Oh my gosh. You guys are nuts. Bullpen. Yeah. Moving on. I don't want to close her. I want people ready to go mix and match all the time.

I'm taking the Tampa Bay Race. Yeah. Those in the Brewers were one, too. Yeah. The Rays were my one. They were my coin flip. I took the two elite guys. I'm still.

The Rays? You basically say, like, I don't even care who's out there because you know he's going to get outs. Where you're just like eight of those. No, I backed off. I just don't feel right about Anderson. You saw a bad playoff stretch When he pitched for the entire season He was tired

That's when it counts That's when it counts You're going to learn from that I hope he does But yeah they were my coin toss with Milwaukee I wanted one of those two bullpins And they got Chas Rowe back And I think he's the glue

I'm kind of surprised myself with where I'm going with taking the first ballpark off board. I'm going to go with Camden Yards. I want my guys to be able to hit a bunch of homers, and the pitching staff I've got lined up with my last pick will be able to handle a small ballpark. Okay. Do you have a pitching staff? I like that. No, yeah, but you guys all took yours, so I can save it.

So he's waiting. So that's kind of fair, BBD. It's kind of fair. Okay. I have my starting pitching. I have my bullpen. I have my infield. I need an outfield or a stadium.

Oh, well. All right. In the outfield, I had one weird one I was considering. Go there. All right. I don't think this is going to get a ton of love, but I want a game changer. I'm going from the Trevor Plouffe book of my favorite phrase.

He said this offseason. I'm going with the Nationals outfield. I want Soto. I get the giant lefty bat. Schwarber, if he can find another 38 homer season, and Robles is a defensive stud, who can also hit a little bit. So I thought about them.

I thought about Mike Trout with the Angels. Yeah, the Nats were way low on my board. I didn't have them in the top four. Soto's two guys, man. If I didn't... I was surprised. I wanted to, but the rest I was like, eh. So it was going to win MVP this year.

James, you have a stadium to pick and what? And relievers where I'm really, I'm rethinking some things on the reliever end because the rays were a great pick. And I'm just rechecking between the two teams that I have left of who I want. And I know this sounds crazy, but I'm taking the Mets bullpen. Okay. I mean, you got, Diaz got a great year last year. Trevor May, they picked him up. Del and Batances should be healthy.

They picked up Aaron Loop, who got outs in the postseason last year. Oh, yeah, big loop pod right here. Miguel Castro's there. Like, I get that they still have to prove it because it's the Mets Bowlpen, which are cursed words. But on paper, they were surprisingly, like, very high for me. So I'm taking those. And then I will say that BPD taking Camden Yards fucked me. I also, I know it's your favorite stadium.

Well, no, I just have a lineup full of Ritey's. So I was dead set on that. Interesting. Yeah, all my studs. Acuna, Ozuna, Machado, Tattis, they're all Ritees. So I was trying to find a Ritey Stadium. And obviously Camden Yard was there. So now I'm going to go to, I think I'm going to, there's two other options.

for Riteys, but like I don't think it's known enough. Like, I don't think when people just... When it's on the graphic, I don't think they're going to... Camden Yards, you know. Righty's hit home runs there. Hitters Park. Yeah. How lefties, too.

The other ones that have like really big park factor. You know what? I'll just do it and I'll see where it lands. I don't want to, though. Uh-oh. I really don't want to. Uh-oh. Yeah.

A lot of deep thought here. I'll go Citizens Bank. Okay. Beautiful ballpark. Kind of small. When you're there, it's really small. And it has the righty. It's top five for like righty park factor.

What is that? What park is that? Really? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, right, right, right. Yes. I don't know. Yes. Top four.

Top four left field for Park Factor for Riteys. What time? Is that Philly's field? Yes. Philly's. Yeah. You played there. And it's beautiful.

And it's beautiful. I need the beauty So the other one is Great American Ballpark Which I know some people It's a nice stadium That's not my aesthetic for a beautiful stadium And I like

You don't think of it when somebody points to you And says name a beautiful stadium Yeah Yeah I was talking about Philly Philly's beautiful That's cool And it's like beautiful

But it's cool No you catch it on a right night And it can be very pretty And it feels small when you're in the stands I'm a little surprised there, Jim. I thought, you know, your baseball insides would kick in a little bit and bring you somewhere a little more passionate. I can't believe it's still on the board.

I'm taking Wrigley Field. Give me the Ivy. Give me the, you know, everything that goes with it. You can win a World Series there. They showed that recently. You know, some days you're going to hit. Some days you're going to pitch there depending on what the wind's doing. And it's Wrigley Field.

I mean, oh, my God. I'll be counting a lot of day games. Good. Let's party. BPD. Let's go BBD. Between, it's sort of between two staves here. I'm ultimately going to go for the top heavy option. Give me that Nationals rotation. You're not going to get better value than that in the last round in that top three. Among the best. Shurzer, Strasbourg, Corbyn will get you there. And with my with my bullpen. I told you I was going to do. draft like a new age front office, but BBD is drafted like a new age front office.

And sounds like him when he talks. He took angles. Treve, three's in the margins, baby. What stadium is, what stadium are the aliens playing at? This is so tough because I have, I had one like locked in my mind that I wanted to do, but you guys left freaking Dodger Stadium available. Yeah. So I'm like, do I do I do I do that?

Do I stay with my plan? And I think I'm going to stay with my plan because I'm confident today. I'm going to be playing in Atlanta. We got a brand new ballpark. It's an international hub. I want people flying in from everywhere to come see my team. I love that angle, Trump.

International hub. Okay. And I will be bumping. Chicago doesn't have that in airports. Outcasts, AT aliens all the time. I like that. All the time. I like that.

All right. To recap, Trevor's team, he has the Mets starting rotation and the Ray's bullpen behind him. He's got the Astros in field and the Twins outfield. and the Twins Outfield and the Atlanta Stadium. If I was to give a critique, Trev, I think those top three are great. I love the Astros, the Rays, and the Mets. I think the Twins Outfield was a reach,

and Atlanta threw me for a loop, but you made a funny joke, so I like that for that reason. Yeah, I think Minnesota is the only kind of question mark. There's a couple other outfields that could have went, but you had a game plan, you went for it. None of us drafted Mike Trout. Yeah, he was on there just to say you have them. Yeah, I was going to say this one, we were halfway through the draft, so I didn't.

But if I didn't get one of my top two outfields, I was going to take Angels outfield, say I'd have Mike Trout and move on. BBD's draft recap, he went Philly's infield first round. I think that's the most glaring pick in the whole thing. I think you could have got them in the seventh round if the draft went seven rounds. You go two, Dodgers outfield, three, Yankees' bullpen, four, you took Camden Yards. I hate you for that, so it means I like the pick. And then you did get the Nats rotation, which I had as the fourth best rotation,

and you got them last pick. So I think. Value-wise you played out. Last pick value was great. First pick value was awful. Yeah. In hindsight, I would have done Dodgers outfield first thinking about it now. Just get them when I get them.

Still getting them in the second round. I'm pretty happy. I'm very comfortable with the real Mudo angle. BPD. Yeah. Solid draft. Solid draft. I agree with the placement of, in hindsight, it is a little glaring.

But I'm comfortable with it. I made my plan free draft. The only one one I think you have is the Yankees bullpen and that can be debated. Yeah. I was between a couple bullpens when I was there. I think I was thinking about Padres just because they got a lot of guys. I'm trying to think of the other. The Padres I had high up.

They got snubbed, I think. The Yankees I went with it. like all the guys they have, like, pitched in the playoffs. That state of Pennsylvania, BBD, ropes you in, man. Jake, you went with the Padres rotation, number one, the Dodgers infield, number two, Brewers, relievers, you went Nats, outfield, and Wrigley as your stadium. Yeah? No.

I understand what you guys are saying with the relief pitching. I went with high end above depth, but that's what my team needs to win in this figure. World Series season. One thing I'll give you on the high end versus depth. You got with the high end over depth in the bullpen. You get good depth in that rotation. I think it plays with, I'm happy with my draft.

I'm happy with my draft. I think my line, I'm really excited to put these lineups on paper and actually see them and be like, oh. Because like my team, not to flex, not to roster bait too much, but I have a really good lefty-righty balance. like Seeger, Muncie Soto. I've got it as lefties. I think we're overrating the Dodgers

infield a little bit. They're very good. They're top. I didn't have them as my top. They're top 10. They're top 10. I don't know where they are, but I don't know. I had them as four.

I had them as four. I would say like they're five, sixish for me. I think you're missing out. Because the guys are getting a little up there in age. It's a pretty old infield. Seeger's the youngest. Do I expect Muncie and Turner to have a great years? Probably.

But there's a chance, you know, they're getting old. Once he's low-key been one of the best first base. Who's second base for you? Are you, is Lucks going to be there? I believe in talent. He's going to break out this year too. They just told, they just said that Lucks is going to get a lot of chances at second two.

About damn time. So, you know, if you hit on him, you have a, you know, okay. Good balance. I have the Dodgers rotation. Smith. I have the Mets bullpen. I have the Padres in field, the Braves outfield, and they're playing in Philly. Philly Stadium kind of came out of.

nowhere. Yeah, that's the one thing. I don't think these guys are going to want to play in Philly. Any of the guys that you picked, they're very, these are superstars who want to be catered to, and that doesn't happen in Philly. Yeah, I mean, I think I really wanted Camden Yards for the Ritey bats. And that's what I was going to do.

I was going to see where, if I got, I wanted Padres, Braves, Dodgers. Those were my three that I told Zach pregame. I wanted those three. So I'm happy that I got him. I really wanted Ray's relief, but, and it almost, I thought it was coming to me because you took Brewers first.

I was like, oh, hell yeah, and he took Yankees. I was like, oh, I might get the race. I might get the four-for-four-four what I wanted. But then you took Ray's and you took Camden, so I was two picks away from getting my five-for-five of what I wanted. Sister had a dick, she'd be my brother. For sure. I'm just saying I had hearts in my eyes and I got sick.

It was a solid draft. I really liked Trevor's Ray's bullpen pick. I was going to say, if I was, late in the draft because they don't have like the top heavy names but it's like you just kind of trust the raise bullpen to turn in a good season yeah who cares who's out there and pre and pre draft we we had been toying with drafting a bench they were also on my list of bench because you just trust them to come in and do their job yeah so it was for me my bullpens that i had were yankees raise brewers dodgers white socks mets and you guys took brewers raise yankees the dodgers

I had their starters. So then it was between the White Sox and the Mets. And you have Hendricks and Crochet out there. But the rest of the names where the Mets have like five names where you're like, maybe. You went bodies. Three of those will work out. You went bodies. Yeah.

I really, really liked the Mets bullpen pick. I had them targeted pretty high. But when I saw the chance of day. We got to talk snub season a little bit. Yankees infield and outfield. I wasn't going to draft a single. And the rotation. The only Yankee thing that I would have.

picked his Yankee Stadium. I'm surprised, Jim, you didn't do that. With your superstar. I told Zach, he went all Riteys. I told Zach I wasn't going to draft any of the Yankees do. What do you mean? That's great for Wrighties. Yankees Stadium is incredible for Ritees. I know. That's the other angle.

Trev, but the general public doesn't know that or believe it, but yes, they rate very high in Park Factor. But I was staying away from Yankees across the board because I knew that our audience would instant dock it if they were going to the polls. Well, obviously you have, like, the outfield there.

You can get tremendous value, but are they going to stay healthy? You guys have that in your head big time. I think the rest of the nation sees it more as like, yeah, these guys will be healthy, but you as diehard Yankee fans kind of know. There's something in the water over there. Yeah. Let's see. Other infields that I think were in play were the Mets, Alonzo, McNeil, Lendor, Jady Davis.

I had the Mets as my three in field. I had the Cubs up there, too. The names are still there for the Cubs infield. Oakland. No. The Cubs kind of hurt because they, second base, it's Nico Horner right now, and we'll see what's going on.

I said no like that because I was surprised. The biggest thing, Trev, when Jake and I were doing our research in our office where we have Ted Lassow desk where we look at each other, we both were on the same team at the same time without knowing it, and then both had the same feeling like, oh, wow, I'm not going to choose any of these units.

and it was the White Sox. So we all agree are really good and have a very good chance to win the division. So I'm not knocking them. But when you separated outfield and infield and starters, I was surprised none of them landed in the top four of the league. And I just made it groan. And then Jake was like, what was that? And I was like, the White Sox, I was surprised.

At a meeting. You got to buy into Madrigal and the infield, who very well could this year. Yeah. It hasn't done it yet. Yeah. White Sox rotation I almost went to in the last round. And then I was like, oh, four and five unrashed resources cease and Rodon. If you want me to tell you, do I believe it?

Yeah, I'm sure they'll be fine. I had the White Sox as my fifth rotation kind of tied with the Braves 5-6. Oh, Cleveland as well. Yeah. I mean, the Braves infield. Yeah. I had them. I had them as on the team and Danby Swanson.

Who's at third? Young Thick. That's kind of the. I think, Austin Riley. That's where you get nervous with some of these elite left side of the infields to go Dan's being young thick, you're doing a little bit of a dance.

I think the only clear one-one, like I knew you were picking the Dodgers rotation. Whoever got first pick was probably going to pick them. And then after that, it was a fair game. It's good draft. I'm most impressed that my 84 got me this high spot.

That's a risky. Got your selection. Yeah. You made a play. And then I also wanted first pick in this one. Because I wanted the, I wanted the two-three wrap-around. Yeah.

Another snub Cardinals infield, perhaps, because you get Goldie and Narinado. I got a little mad because I think if Wong was still there, I think you have a conversation. I'm interested to see what Edmund's got. I know St. Louis Lipson. I would like to have Edmund on my team, but penciling him is. The known of Colton Wong, like he'll get on base at a 340, 350 clip,

and he might win the gold glove. I think that could have brought them there. That would have made them a must. Like someone's got to pick them at some point team if they had him still. I think something kind of surprising that opened my eyes with this exercise is, you guys mentioned how the White Sox you'd think one of them would be in. A team that I had both offensive units slightly above the White Sox unit was the Blue Jays. I would rather have the Blue Jays infield and outfield over the White Sox.

Can I be honest with you guys? Please. When I did this, I went to fan graphs and then I clicked like command. click so it opened up a new tab to the top 10 teams that I thought would have a situation I didn't choose the Blue Jays I should have but I didn't

so I didn't even look at them for this. The infield should The infield would have been up there had I done that Yeah there's a couple question marks You got Vlad moving to first what's a new Vlad looks like. Eiji moves to third they've got some injury stuff but yeah man I mean they're

Simeon like so the Dodgers to me I think I put the Blue Jays probably right at what the Dodgers or maybe right above them. I just, I went with what's proven, and I mean, Seeger coming off the World Series, like, I think. Let's see, who else, who else kind of snuck in here? The Cubs outfield, you could kind of make an argument about it. Yeah, I had them fifth on my list.

They were on my list. I didn't, like, fully rank teams, but they were on my list that have people I'm coming up with. It's Happer, who broke out last year. They signed Jock. Yeah, Jock and Hayward. So I mean, that's not getting top five, Jim. Come on, man.

It's in the conversation. Maybe not top five. I didn't do that. The outfield was the last group I did, so that I didn't fully list them. I just knew I liked Braves the most Dodgers. Yeah, Braves is a great pick. I saw some people mention Red Sox. I like Dodgers the most, but I knew I wouldn't get them first.

I saw some people mention the Red Sox infield in the chat. Love Bogart's Endeavors, but. Yeah, you're the right side. It's the second base and first base. really know what we're doing. So it's, can I tell you guys something? What's that?

I wanted, they weren't draftable because they're not top four. But the Cardinals' rotation, I have a sneaky crush on. Okay. Mostly because of how well Kim pitched. Yeah.

And then Wayno was pretty good last year still, right? And then Flarety. Obviously, we believe in Jay Flair. And then Carlos Martinez, that little punk. You guys. I was like, man, I like them. But I was like, you know, maybe if this was a six-person draft, you could get the Cardinals'

rotation way late. But I didn't think it would play. Yeah. You know what? We went into this just because we needed like a bullshit exercise since there's no news. And it actually was a great way to look at all the teams. Yeah. Like a value of some stuff.

Yeah, with circling back briefly on the outfielders, we were talking about the Cubs. They were on the list. I was just narrowing it down to teams I kind of like and I was deciding from there. Ultimately, I think I still would have. gone with either angels or nationals before them because you get either Trout or Soto. Before who? Before Cubs. Outfield-wise.

There's just enough teams that's like there's a reason to pick them ahead. Yankees, you would get that group. The only one we haven't mentioned before we had to stadium snubs, which everyone's been waiting for. I like Oakland's bullpen. I think they got a bunch of grossos out there. If I was doing the depth play, I think there's an argument, especially it depends how much you believe in Rosenthal. If you believe he's really found it,

I mean, Rosenthal, Deekman is, like, it's gross. Some characters. Yeah. Sergio's there. Sergio's there now. They've got a grosso bullpen. If I missed out on Brewer's Rays, I think I was going there. Yeah.

Stadium snubs are, there's a ton of them. PNC Park is. Yeah, PNC was a big one. Crazy you didn't pick that. They were number one on my draft board, but then I saw it, but Camden was a close to. That was just a shot at Jimmy. It was a shot at Jimmy and I knew it would.

It's just the offense plays well. I will say this. I don't know what your draft. Jimmy was doing like stadium analytics to help his team out. Jimmy Liddix there, yeah. Yeah. So PNC Park for me is not one of those. That's purely for your fans.

Aesthetic, yeah. The aesthetic. You know, that's not helping your. Well, according to the analytics. It's a decent part. I believe in my ball team. You know, I think they can play anywhere at any time. No, I was trying to build, I was trying to find a stadium for my lineup.

And I didn't know what my lineup was going to be. So if I ended up with lineup with balance, I was going to take Yankee Stadium or I wanted to take Fenway for all the Riteys, but then I just didn't have the heart to do it. But I probably should have done that. See, Fenway, that's another misconception. Fenway for lefties is good. It makes you a better hitter.

Or like when Hixie went and got that ball at the end of the game against the twins. Like I love plays like that. I think there's no better outfield in baseball. We have the, in my opinion, the hottest guy in the game in Max Kepler. And then Byron, who's like the mega athlete can go get anything and just has no care for his body, goes into the wall. I would tell him to calm it down a little bit, but maybe I wouldn't. I don't know. Yeah.

And then I always have an affinity for them because Rosario and the three of them together is great. So I miss Rosario, but Kirillov coming up is, you know, I like the young studs too. It's exciting. So no shifts. They will be playing their positions and they're going to go get the ball because Bob Costa said he missed that in the game. And I'm going to give Bob what he wants. I'm interested to see Kirillov. I mean, if he's good, I think you've got a really nice conversation of that.

Now that Springer's gone, now that Verlanders heard. Exactly. That's why Astros were a great number one pick for Trev where he was because, yeah. What, like, Astros were off the board forever. They're starting pitching. You could argue it's good. It is good. It is good.

If they had Verlander, you'd probably have drafted them at some point. It's a discussion. They're back in the game because we love Frammer. The storylines are great. I can spin that storyline and turn them into like a second chance. Oh, love to. You know what? Turn it up a notch.

You guys are straight villains. You've got people, Treve, you've got people flying in to boo your team. You're packed, man. Do you want to know the best part about my team? Go on. So that's why I wasn't afraid to have so many personalities in the room knowing that team Plouf had Trevor Plouf as a manager. It's very brave.
