Good, some good at bats against, uh, Garcia, but nothing. Max comes out. Infield hit to Altuve. Mm. Treb, I mean, it, no. The next, the next play was the Brantley play. Never mind. Yeah. So Louise Garcia came out and he actually looked pretty hot. He was snapping it off. Max,

freed didn't get going until that moment. And Trev, I, You know, sometimes we forget our little world here. Like people should know you and Max Fried are buddies. Like you guys worked out together. Like this is one of your guys. One of the first times we met you, you told us how Max Fried is like one of your guys, how you work out with him. You work out with Gialito. You work out with Flaherty.

And we're like, oh, okay, yeah, cool, sure, whatever. And then we met those guys. and they talk about you. So some pretty cool, you know, your tweet's pretty, pretty cool. The fact that it's your buddy on the bump doing it, that's really cool. Yeah, you know, I talked to Max throughout the season. And I love all those guys. You just mentioned, Lucas Jolito, Jack Flaherty, Max Fried.

We all worked out together with our guy Brad Newman, me, those guys, Ryan Braun, Mike Musachas, a ton of. of guys. A lot of local guys. I was talking a little bit about Max to Lucas and Jack. I'm legit nervous for this guy. Max is like the nicest person you're ever going to meet. He doesn't always have a killer mentality. It's just not who he is. He doesn't need that. He's good enough where he doesn't need the killer mentality. But in a World Series game in Houston, I I think the challenge is daunting for someone like that who's a humble dude who is,

you know, like I said, he doesn't have, naturally I don't think that killer instinct. But after the first ending, when he knows like he got put in a shitty situation again, because it happened in his start against the Astros in, what was that, game two?

Yes. He gets put in a situation again. He, makes awkward play at first base he actually was out or i don't we don't know if he's out or not whatever but he gets his footstep on and he comes back and gets out of that inning you saw at the end they were showing slow-mo's of him he was like his face changed yeah it really did he was intense and i texted lucas and jack i said like i think that's the best thing that ever happened for max right there was that he

it wasn't any more Max thinking like I gotta go I have to go do this to win now it was like fuck those guys I'm gonna go win this game and that was all the difference the M the M he had the MJ

Like these are guys giving everything they freaking got. Luis Garcia had some stuff tonight. He got bested. It's fine. It happens. It's baseball. But this Astros team. they're an all-timer and think what you want to think about them there's a cheating scandal we get it and i think what what baseball players will tell you guys that were you know played against them and are in the league

now will say is what hurts most about like finding that out in 2017 was that they didn't need it man like these guys ball out like they're one of the funnest teams to watch bar none in the big leagues they showed it. They've showed it since, I mean, 2017 to now. How many ALCS is in a row, Jake? Five. Five for five. It's a joke, dude. The way these guys play ball is, it's beautiful.

You're right. The conversations and the hot takes over the next. Our 48 hours week are going to be tough on Houston, especially Correa. He's a massive free agent. And he has always been kind of a leader on this team. So that'll be a big discussion. I think we could do a little more at the end. I want to do a little more Braves because A, they did it.

B. Let's go through the game. Let's go through the game. Okay. So. Max Frid gets spiked on. We did that. And I think everything we said is true.

Like, again, if there's people tuning into this, if this is your first Tolkien baseball, like Max Fried getting spiked on literally, the look on his face changed, and he got nasty quick innings. I guess that would be the one thing I'd ask you, Treve. I mean, is that big game anything? Is that just knowing it's playoff baseball?

So if you get to freed, he's going to come out of the game. Is there anything to the Astero swinging too early? I mean, is that just hindsight's 2020? I mean, also, Max look good. So there's also no shame in that. Like, he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. I mean, that, That's kind of their ammo.

Like, if they see a weakness, they're going to try to exploit it. They wanted to come out and get Max early. They're swinging early. That's fine. You have your plan. It might not work for you, but they're a team that sticks to a plan. And I think that eight pitch ending, was it the second thing, eight pitches for Max? Yes.

The third. The third was an eight pitch ending? Yep. Stuff like that. I mean, that helps so much. I mean, he wasn't going to go like the eight or nine that we wanted him to go tonight, just because they do have

the well-rested pen. But, like, that it gave him the ability to work longer into those back endings, like, with conviction, not just like on fumes or something like that. And excuse me, the second inning was eight, the third inning was nine,

the fourth inning was eight. That's a joke. I mean, that's... That's how you get into the deep part of the game with stuff still. And, like, dude, I mean, in a regular season game, Max is going to distance tonight, right? Yeah, I guess, you know, if we really wanted to, you know, they could have given Max another. The bullpen's been so strong. You unfortunately get it.

I think, you know, the baseball truest, and it would have been nice to see Max even get one more. Could he even have gotten two more? That being said, the night shift, we've already admitted one of the cooler nicknames that crews ever given themselves. Yes. And, dude, I mean, A, it's hilarious that Will Smith has become,

his playoff performance has essentially been not talked about because of the guy before him. Tyler Matzick does another two-innings four-Ks. That dude, man, have we seen anything like that? Like, I know Matzik's good, he's pitched some playoff baseball, arm talent. Have we seen anyone kind of take that kind of playoff jump? Daniel Hudson. Like, yes, but-

Daniel Hudson, Madison Bumgarner. That is not putting him down at all. That's like putting him with, these are legends, bro. Madison Bumgarner went 2014, right? One of those even number years. It was legendary. He started, he closed, he did everything. He was unhittable.

and then Hudson I think Hudson's a better representation of him I don't know what the total endings were for innings, innings, oh my God I think about that every time I say the freaking word now You do say Edombs are hard Hardy I don't know what the total innings were

From their playoff run it's good Yeah 9.2 innings In that entire run Matt Zick had 15.2 entering Holy shit. What? So that's... Hudson like kind of fully became their closer.

who's on your roster what the names are it's who's firing at the right time you know like let's play each other let's play it out and that's what happened this with this team the Braves. I mean, there was a stat someone was talking about in May

they started shifting heavily. And from then on, they were one of the best teams defensively on ground balls. They made an adjustment mid-season. Yeah. And now we're talking about their defense winning them a World Series. Like that's cool, man. Like that's awesome. And that's like that's Ron Washington.

That's their front office. That's everyone getting together and saying, let's do this. And it goes and I mean, and Danzby made some, the bare-handed play he made over the chopper over Fried's head was incredible. It's really tough to get a grip on that ball when it's coming that slow. Like when you do bare-hand stuff,

you'd rather the ball be firmer. Like when it's coming that slow, it's tough to grab it and then get a grip and throw the ball. Danzby did it perfectly. Freddie over there on the bag was, was awesome. I think he was Max, that play that Max messed up, Max messed it up. Like he wasn't looking at Freddie. And, yeah, I mean, the bats didn't show up. Is that Atlanta pitching? Is that just maybe they went into a little funk at the end?

I don't know, man. watching the series, it was like there was some hard hit balls that got caught. They capitalized on some weaker hit contact to score some runs. I don't think there was like a glaring difference between the two where say

they were crushing the ball and right at somebody or they were scoring a bunch of runs the other way. So I think you just got to give credit to the pitchers there in the situation. Okay. Yeah. I mean you know, Alex

Spregman who had a really tough series. That's a guy that could easily be an MVP of a series. Jordan Alvarez just was. Yeah. So, yeah, at this point, give kudos to the Braves. They just did it every step of the way. And yeah, I think that was the weird. Trev, I know you were showing a lot of your emotions today with your, I mean, Braves and

six, B-I-6. But, man, there is a weird moment for me. And maybe it's partially being a Yankee. fan, but when they went up six-nothing, so it was after Dansby's Homer, Freddie doubles in, and it's six-nothing, you know, there was a weird feeling that, like, the boogeyman was actually going down. Like, it seemed like the script was going to be, like you said, these Astros guys are really good ballplayers, that they were going to come back, kind of win this series, vindicate themselves

from 2017, and now there's going to be a lot of. lot of people that say like the one year you got the ring it was funny business season um i don't know it's just going to be interesting to see how that team reacts that being said i wouldn't bet against them because they find a way man if it does feel like there's a changing of the guard i know people don't want to hear that i think people do don't want to hear that i think when i hear that come out of my mouth though right it sounds like recency bias right bottom line you think about what they have and what they didn't have in this postseason tell me jake what did not what did what did what did what did they what did they what did they did
