Sorry, pal. Nice career, though. Nice career, though. Maybe one more rep at the gym, Mark. Maybe. Things are good, Jake. Yes, I had a little 40th birthday-ish bash yesterday. You were obviously not there physically.

Right. Because you got some stuff going on in New York, but you were there on FaceTime. Like you always are for big celebrations in my life. Yeah, so I told, I was like, Robindal, yeah, I can open with a story today. Because I'm on my couch. It's late.

It's recorded talking Yanks yesterday. Go home. Throwing some. Cubs Giants, but I want to pass the fuck out, part of my French, because I am going to the Knicks Spurs game tonight, so I'm very excited about that. So I was like, my only intention last night was get to bed early. I'm on my couch, little, uh, little medical stuff in the system just to help me sleep, you know, uh, relax a little bit. My phone doesn't tell me when people call me, which is a really bad feature. It's supposed to be like the number one thing that happens

when a phone. But if someone wants to talk to me, they normally will also text me. So I get a text from a number I don't have at about 10 p.m. my time. And I'll make sure, I read it verbatim. It says, TJ, stop doing curls. Answer your phone. Treves 40th. I go, okay. That's interesting. So I'm like, oh, I'm like, damn it, that's right. Trev's probably having his birthday party. This is, I still don't know who it is. I don't know if it's your guy. Kyle, I don't know, but I was like, and then I look at my calls, had a miss FaceTime from Treve earlier that I was like, okay, little stony baloney on the couch, shirtless, always, because that's how I live.

Make the FaceTime. Crowd starts getting rowdy. Chris Rose is there. He's at the end of the table. He's basically sitting in another room. And then literally flashbacks to Jimmy Cawson's wife, the birthday cake comes out, and they start singing happy birthday to Trev. There I am sitting on the phone again.

So it was a delightful moment to be there and not be there. But it was a real tree. We wanted you there. I know. I know. It was Tyson who was calling you. Tyson, my guy. Okay.

Got to save his number right now. That, yeah, it was good to be fake included for a minute. It looked like, it looked like vibes were high, Trev. Fives were high. We had a great day. Some golf, a little spa, and then a nice dinner all together. It was great. The image of Chris Rose seeing me shirtless,

so he had to then show everyone what he was operating with. It was a nice moment. And guys, it's not Trev's birthday yet. Middle Middle, 615, still 39. With that, I think we dive into some AL baseball because it's Monday. Let's get into it, Pop. It's bang it around. Let's bang it around.

And we start with the most. Water City kitties, are they back? They just had a nice week of baseball. Five in one after taking two out of three from the Seattle Mariners. The game they did not win. The Vanilla Gorilla Bryce Miller, been dropping it all over everyone, and so is Dominic Can't Zone. 4.51 to left center.

Okay, pal. Outside of that, it was the Detroit Tigers. Kevin McGonigle, How's your first career walkoff hit? It goes off of Young's Club. That's none of his business. And we get some electricity. Josh Naylor and Frammer Valdez.

They're always stirring the pot. We'll talk about that a little bit. Detroit, signs of life. Speaking of, the birds in the east, the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays, the Orioles win that first game. They put up a 13 burger. Adleys going nuts.

The Orioles are one of the hottest teams in baseball. They've won 10 out of 14. they dropped the next two to Toronto. Braddish struggles, mostly because Ernie Clement is on the Toronto Blue Jays people. And then that final game, down for nothing, the Blue Jays rally. Little controversy and Ernie's involved, but mostly the two out hits. And how about Brandon Valenzuela and what he's been doing, filling in for Kirky? Toronto, they take the set.

Are the Texas Rangers live? Were they dead? What are they? I don't know, but they won a series over the Cleveland Guard Dogs winning the bread games. They didn't win the middle game. Tanner Issa Bide, eight-inning, shutpiece. How do you like that? Brian Rokio Good, question mark.

It's a hot debate on baseball Twitter these days. But enough about them. Corey Seeger is back. Hey, I think that matters. Wyatt Langford is back. Hey, I think that matters. Kyle Higashioca. He's been here.

like him because he was a Yankee. And Jacob de Grom through six scoreless innings in that final game. You're going to hear more about Zeke Duran later. Texas, tantalizing. The Kansas City Royals win three out of four against Treves, Minnesota Twins. So we're probably going to talk about that too much. The Royals, Starling Marte, hit a nice home run in that final game. Bobby Witt exits with the right knee thing.

Let's keep tabs on that. Treb's going to talk about it. I'm not. The Boston Red Sox and the Yankees, the rivalry is back. Not really. They play two games. The Red Sox win that first game. Some Wilson Contreras and some Yankees' sloppy defense gives Boston the nod.

And then a one-one pitcher's duel, Ranger Suarez, Cam Schlittler. Yankees opened it up in the eighth inning. Cody Bellinger, along with Jazz going Big Fly to get it done, they split two. The Astros, are they alive? They take two out of three from the A's. Astros, big offensive performance. Yordaun Alvarez, he's been doing this every game, and he's got an MVP. Esauk Paredes, everyone wants him, but right now he's on Houston and he homered for three straight games.

Final game, might as well jump. Gage jump, dominant, man. That kid has whatever it is. So did Kurtz and Rooker in that final game. And your final series, the Citrus Bowl. The Tampa Bay Rays and the Miami Marlins. The Rays win that first game. Drew Rasmussen, underrated, probably.

Camerro reached base five times. After that, it's all Marlins. My guy, Javier Sanoha, with the big game, too. And then Sandy, it's going to be a name we're going to talk about the next couple months. He has a dominant performance. Otto Lopez is just one of the best players in baseball. Fishy, that's what happened in the American League. Nobody better.

Nobody better. San Antonio, get the fuck out. You're done. You're done. Nixon three. Nixon three. It's Jover. I actually watched other sports.

I watched some hockey. Oh, nice. Did you watch the overtime game? Well, I was kind of turned it off for nothing. Right. And then obviously they came back. Pretty cool. I did watch it, though.

And the NHL playoffs are electric. and everyone always tells me that, and they were. They are electric. There was a funny, funny John Boy text because he was like, you know, the markets, maybe not the best for the NHL, not too historic hockey cities, but electric hockey. Vegas is turning into a hockey city, dude. Vegas is turning into an everything city, huh?

Kind of crazy. All right. I got the stand-in spot. You want to? Good. Yes. Okay. We're going to start. out east with your yanks tied with tampa bay at the top of the division Tampa bay despite

losing two out of three 37 and 25 your yanks 38 and 26 uh Toronto two games under five right now 32 and 34 Baltimore 31 and 35 and then Boston there's lots of rumors about who they're going to keep who they're not going to 27 and 36 come on guys pick it up in the central of course sometimes things are just the way they are, Jake, like Cleveland, leading the division. 37 and 30. Milwaukee, not getting there yet, but they're leading the division. Insane.

White Sox, 34 and 31, second place. My twins, seven games under 500 now at 30 and 37. Detroit and Kansas City, both 27 and 39. Are the Tigers back? I don't know. I don't know. Kind of. Out west, Seattle.

34 and 32, kind of where we expect them to be. Texas sitting right under 500, 32 and 33. And then the A's, 31 and 34. I never know what to make of them, man. I'm trying to get on board. Houston 30 and 37, same record as my twins. And then the angels bringing up the rear in the league at 25 and 41. Those are your standings in the American League.

Let's do two teams that were favorites coming into this year, two teams that last met up in game five of the 2025 ALDS, a 15-inning game. And Carrie, Jesus was a carpenter. People forget, Trev. He keeps killing Seattle. And the kiddies had a nice week,

which the kiddies have not had a lot of nice weeks. Our guy Jimmy Norp is kind of still out on his Detroit Tigers because he's watched a lot of bad baseball. But they take care of business this week. We get a little bit of drama in this series with Naylor and Framber. Where do you go, Coach? Yeah, I mean, I think we got to talk about the Naylor stuff, definitely, and kind of all have his antics.

I do want to give a shout out to our guy, Kevin McGonigal, just the season he's had. Then I know that Andres Munoz is not up to par this year. I mean, this stuff isn't playing well. I mean, right now, looking at his stats of 5-4 ERA and negative war. He's blown some leads and he just hasn't been himself. But still, for a young guy to come up big in that situation, fastball up and in like that walk-off winner, that's just you're starting to rack up.

up confidence points if you're Kevin McGonagall. Like you're already doing well in the league. But sometimes, you know, that's great. And the league will make adjustments. Like, hits like this, that tells you, I'm going to stay. Like, that gives you the confidence. Like, I'm here. I ain't going anywhere.

Like, I'm the guy. So a big one for him. And then, yeah, I think the nailer stuff is just, I don't, there was, who came out? I think Colt Keekegon said, if he's on your team, you like him. And if you're on the other team, you don't. like him. I don't know if I like any of the stuff he's doing. Oh. Um, I don't know if I like that, to be honest with you. At least he, I guess the only caveat to that is, and if people don't know we're talking about, um, he had a play where he, uh, went to tag for his base. We're going to

watch it now. And instead of just staying on the inside part of the base, he runs across and makes contact, which is just, that's a dumb play. That's going to get somebody hurt. Um, and then what does this play with? Oh, this is when he throws the slides. sliding mitt into the catcher. Yes. This is just also ridiculous. At least no one's going to get hurt from this one, but just kind of,

I don't even know what you would call that play. It's cooing. Cookey. Like, yeah, I don't know if it's helping. I don't know if it's hurting. Yeah, I actually, I don't, I don't want to say I don't mind the play at first base, because you're right.

It ends up being dangerous, and a lot of the rules and everything we do in baseball is to take that away. That's where I've been a fan of the double-back. like what are we doing? We just watch Muncie and Ildamorrow play a quick football game out there. The throwing the sliding minute is just what is that? And then I don't know.

To play a first base, though, you should never cross the bag like that. There's no reason. Yeah, yes. I guess you're right. I mean, I guess you can get there a little faster if you keep your momentum going, but I understand what you're saying. And then, yeah, I guess the part that's funny for me is because he gets plunked by your guy,

Cater Montero. And then Naylor, who smiles the whole time throughout, you know, he likes it. And then after the game, he's like, oh, yeah, it was intentional. Framber was smiling. And at first I was kind of like, all right, yeah, you know, everything does check out. Then I was, like, can't we, it's very easy to point a finger at Framber right now. Like, okay, the starting pitchers in the dugout smiling? I don't know.

I don't know. It's like any opposing player right now could be like, oh, dude, Framber. And it's like, oh, yeah, he's a bad guy, right? I don't condone pitchers hitting batters except when, like stuff like this happens. Like, I don't actually mind.

Okay. You're throwing a Josh because he endangered one of the Tigers players. If you throw it a guy because you can't get him out, that's different. That's soft. That's different. So, yes. This is like you're protecting your teammates.

I believe it was the following game. Then he goes and gets picked off a first base. And he goes into second base and slides, I don't see slides to the bag, but barrel rolls. That's what they call it on the broadcast through the bag. And this is only to try to just try to mess with people. Like, what are we doing, man?

Yeah, I don't. I don't. Kind of like his stick, like he's. I think I sneakie hate that one the most. I know. It's hard to defend. and like, you know, I like him as a player. And, you know, like, sometimes those antics, you're like, okay, man, he's just firing his team up.

But, like, this whole series was just strange for me. Yeah, I think a couple, couple Mariners high, couple Mariners low. Dominic Canzon, I mentioned the long home run, but he's just having a nice season and he's kind of having two nice seasons now. And, yeah, Mariners fans, I'll ask you, as everyone that listens to this show knows, you guys know your team better than us. Like, where are we at with Munoz? You know, fifth blown save in 25 games. He had six all of last year. So like where is our actual fear level with that?

Bryce Miller looks gross. Again, the six-man rotation is now, it looks amazing. It's just what's the next move with it. That for me, it's more so on the other side of when can we actually, I don't want to say believe in the Tigers, but they were supposed to be one of the best teams in the AL. Well, there is a lot of baseball left. But you got to turn the ship around in a big way.

And, you know, a nice week isn't enough to sway me yet. Five and a half games back in the wild card right now. They'd have to jump a bunch of teams. But still, yeah, I mean, if you're, you got to, if they're back in that race at a three-game clip, that could, which could happen in two days, essentially. You can't give up. You can't.

I know all the discord. about trading scoobo is out there. I just don't think you can't. I just, the AL is so mid right now that you just can't do it. Yeah, but it's kind of a weird place to be in. You have to get a certain level of hot. They are about to play your twins. No shots fired. But like the twins have been a three game better team than than this season. The, the Orioles, Blue Jays, and athletics have been five games better than them. So they need to, they need to go. They haven't shown any signs of going. So let's see what's next for them. Uh, two of the two of the two of the two of the two of the teams I mentioned they're chasing in two of the literal and figurative wildcards of the

American League so far. The Orioles and the Blue Jays. And man, this, I don't want to say this reeked of Blue J or reeked of Orioles, but Orioles fans, you tell me, I think you guys would probably be tougher on your team than I would be. But man, they win that first game within two games of 500, which again, not super impressive, but since May 1st, they score a season high runs 13. They were technically, I think, if you did last 14 games, the hottest team in baseball. Okay, you lose that second game. You're up for nothing to win the series against the division rival team, and then you give up a five-run inning to blow the lead.

I know there's a little controversy here, too, but also they end up getting Blue Jade, where it's two out hits from Okamoko, Okamoto, Jimenez, Nathan Lucas. that yeah man that was a I just I ended up doing like an ugly head tilt towards the Orioles yeah I got some some adly stuff coming up obviously a huge game for the Orioles and Tim in game one and yeah we're we're looking at the play right now and Shane Boss is yelling at everybody and he ends up staring down the second base umpire and this is a play that we've talked about a lot Jake uh you know what is the baseline

and people think like there is like some sort of lane that you have to run in on the basis. And it just isn't. That's not the rule. You can literally run wherever you want until there's an attempt made at you, a play made towards the runner. So that's kind of what Orioles fans are arguing is like, was there an attempt number one, which is the Empire said didn't really give a good enough tag attempt? That to me is sufficient. You go look at that.

Like he sticks the glove out. but Ernie is allowed to go. As soon as the play is made towards him, he's got three feet. Now, again, I don't know if he went three feet. It's really hard to tell. I know we have stat cast for that. Right.

I don't know if anyone ever came out and did that or not. They probably did not do it on the broadcast. But to me, that looks like he's out of the baseline. To me, that looks like he's out of the baseline. It looks more than three feet to me. He ends up getting the no call there. Then, uh, boss, you know, all you have to do is get out of that. inning. Stop giving up hits, but you don't. And you end up blaming this. But yeah, to me,

I think that's, it looks like he's out of the base, like more than three feet. I agree, man. That's, that's pretty gnarly. And I wonder, is that the second base I'm making that call? Because if, okay, if three feet is your. Let's see, let's see, right? Here is where, yeah, he's, so he already started to go out that way before the attempt is made. So let's stop it right when this glove starts to go out. And let's try to see if you're right there. Okay. So now he's got three feet.

I mean, if it starts there, then by rule. Maybe not. Then by the rule, if we're going by when the attempt is made, then he's not past those three feet. Yeah. It clearly starts getting a little semantical. That in our warehouse, which I know sometimes we shouldn't compare that

professional sports, but we often live by a rule of like, what feels, what feels right? And that doesn't feel right, if I'm being honest. And like, I know there was a, there's a few plays like this, you know, runners going down to first base. And I feel like they're a little harder on interference calls to first for whatever reason. I, I don't know. That in blocking the base, I just get lost sometimes, which just feels crazy to me. Yeah, we've had, yeah, the blocking the basically has been interesting. It makes it difficult on position players to make tags and go off to the ball. But I think you just have to give credit to Ernie Clement there for like understanding what's going on.

Like trying to avoid the tag starting early enough. Gunner Henderson, here's the quote. I'm not going to chase him to right field when I'm trying to turn a Dole play there. He's only allotted so many feet to be considered in the baseline. If you make a loop and slide to where you can't even reach second base, the next two steps, I don't really understand that. I kind of tend to agree. I think of other notes from this series.

You're going to talk a little Adley coming up because he had a massive game. I'm going to talk a little Ernie coming up because he had a massive game, even outside of that moment. Brandon Valenzuela has been incredible for the Toronto Blue Jays that I think I have more on it. So I've just, we've got a lot more on this series. So maybe we keep it moving for now that next in the American League. The Texas Rangers, Trev, who, If the playoffs started today, I think the Texas Rangers would be playing the Seattle Mariners.

They're currently the last wildcard team. They're seven and three in their last 10. They have a positive run differential. Some people care about that. And they beat the Cleveland Guard dogs who are tied for the most wins in the American League, because they are the Cleveland Guard dogs. And yet, what change, I guess for me, where I did my head tilt and everyone that listens to this show knows where I'm at with the Texas Rangers.

The talent on the roster hasn't matched the product on the field for a couple years now for me. Know what matters. Corey Seeger and Wyatt Lang for being back because that's supposed to be their two best players, right? On offense, absolutely, yeah. So you get both those guys back and then immediate impact. in the first game. That's exactly what you want to see. Seeger has the go ahead, uh, two run Homer in right before that, who gets on base, Wyatt Langford, and that's for Rangers fans, uh, a welcome site.

I actually can't wait. I'm going to call a game there. Uh, and I get to see this team in person. Then I feel like we'll be able to like really lock it in. I'm happy both these guys are back because yeah, you're right, man. You'd look at this roster and you're like, this is, this is good. They got players here. They got pitching. Uh, that showed up again to Grom, um, with another great start. So the Rangers are definitely a team.

It's like, yes, they're in the playoffs right now. A bunch of teams right around them. But this is, I think maybe in a month or so, when we get to like the All-Star break, we'll say this is when the Rangers started to go. They started to get healthy and they got their guys back. This is their best nine-game stretch, seven and two under Skip Schumacher. Shoemaker? It's Mocker.

Schumacher? That's a tricky one. four home runs in a game. 16 hits the most in a Globe life game. And that's kind of always been the part missing from this Texas team, along with Jacob de Grom going six shut. He's been dominant at home. Yeah, I'm not sure what else I have to add to that.

What did you say? I was reading Stephen Vote's quote. Then read it to the people. Yeah, about, you know, because Tanner Bybee, you know, eight innings. and he only had 87 pitches. So, you know, do you let him go around and finish the game? And vote decided not to. He ends up bringing Tim Heron in.

Who got the job done? But he just was basically said, you don't want to let them see Bobby for a fourth time around, which I totally get. So I don't know. I don't think Bobby actually didn't see him complain or anything like that. Probably wanted to go back out there. But there are certain times you just like, hey, enough is enough.

if you did your job, let's go win this baseball game. Yeah, and I just, I don't know, like, who's coming up? It was the top of the order. Fourth time through, I don't know about all that because I do think there's decent numbers, and maybe the analytics people can call me out a little bit, although analytics hot in the streets this weekend. Oh, I can't wait to talk to that. Yeah.

My God. That, like, yeah, I think there's more that goes into, because I do think when pitchers are rolling, there's stats on that, like, if a guy's pitching well, they do pretty well their third and fourth time through because they're having a good day. Yeah, I don't know. I don't really have any problem with that.

Bibi had been winless in a franchise record 13 regular season starts coming into that. So how about baseball showing up? Jacob de Grom facing Cleveland for the first time in his career. It's pretty wild. The only team he's never faced. Interesting. And I can't believe I'm jumping back to this now because I want to say it three times. You mentioned Mark Ellis had 105 career home runs and kind of hit him with the too small.

33 and a half career war for Mark Ellis. So I think us Mark Ellis fans, I just need to say something. It was on my mind. I said he had a great career. You respect his game. I respect the game. Texas, like, let's go. Let's go.

I'm not. I actually, I have a little more Texas. later. What do you have on this Twins Royal Series? I'm going to be honest, wasn't locked. I don't know. Twins down bad. Twins down bad, man. Should I want a couple of these games.

The game three, Orlando Arcea, who I always tell, hey man, I knew your brother. He does not care. He comes, hits a pinch it, go ahead, Homer. We think we're going to win this thing, two to one. After a nice Joe Ryan start and the Royals take the lead in the night.

So I guess that's a material change. Don't I call it that? Something like that. It's been heavily debated before. Yeah, from this series, what I do have, and it could have been an award or a standout or something. Josh Rojas, if you're a person that likes these kind of baseball stories, pulled from the minor league game that he's playing in, gets the call to the show, misses his first flight,

so then he's just airport chilling, sitting on his hands, gets to the game. Little rain delay. Bies him a couple minutes, gets inserted in the game, gets the hit. And yeah, it's just one of those. If you like baseball, you love the, you love when one of those pops up. Doesn't even know a guy on the team probably. Yeah, that's new reliever Justin Lawrence right there. I think there's seven straight balls, gets one strike, then throws that pitch.

And two runs single for Josh. That's a really cool story. Josh Roas. That's like a night, obviously he'll never forget. Yeah, I mean, that's, that was him joining the Kansas City Royals. You wonder, I bet he made a lot of friends that night. But I guess for my Royals fans who, I guess I just want to copy and paste everything I potentially said about the Tigers and, okay, the AALs bad and maybe, maybe, maybe.

These, they have the exact same record, both 27 and 39. So if you're going to make your summer matter, you've got to go. Because otherwise, they are tied with the second worst record in the American League. Yes. And Bobby Witt, he came out with the knee soreness in that last game. Hopefully he's okay, though. That will be a factor. Factor.

Sox, here's what I'll tell you. I mean, I basically hit it on the way through. That Friday night, the Yankees were very much the second fiddle in New York, as the Knicks are good for the first time ever, basically. And yeah, it was just frustrating because with the Aaron Judge news, and if Aaron Judge is going to be out, the Yankees need to play a clean brand of baseball, that people have been hypercritical of them since the 2014, basically.

And they played sloppy in that game. One was Weathers being a pitcher fielding, which allowed them an extra out. And then Jazz had a really weird one, but Jazz defensively kind of hasn't been a problem, so Yankee fans weren't too hot to trot about that. And then they survived Ranger Suarez and put up a big inning late that it was just like, okay, two games split.

Great. Great. Okay. Like that? Like that. Yankee fans happy about a rainout because now that game's in August 29th, and hopefully Judge will be back. So that's pathetic as Yankee fans.

We used to play for rings. Anyways, uh, wrapping up the American League. A's and Astros. Astros continue to be part of that pile. like they are, they're two and a half games up on Detroit. So if you want to believe, they got Altuve back. And yeah, when they, after they win that second game of the series and you look how close them and the A's were in the standings,

you're like, Houston can be a part of this season still, which is nuts. Yeah, we're like literally waiting for people to separate themselves. They just haven't. And Houston came into this series. They lost, I believe a series against, was it Milwaukee and then Pittsburgh. So two teams are pretty dang good. And this is a stretch now where they got to have it. Here they took it against the A three here.

They go to L.A. and play the Angels and they go to Kansas City and play the Royals. So a little six-game roadie before going to Detroit or they then host to Detroit and Cleveland. This six-game rowdy, I think there's a time to make up some games. You know, Angels kind of down bad. Royals, I mean, possibly without Bobby Witt. And we just mentioned their record. Like, this is the time. Like, come on.

go Astros. And the pitching's been better and the offense has been good all year long. So I'm, yeah, I guess add it to the pile of teams we're not giving up on. Brett is playing well. Jeremy Payne, you playing well. Your Astros left fielder? Late night, Lamont Wade. Whoa. And of course, with these Astros like, Amai gives a contributing start, which she did not do to start the year that, uh, man it's one of the teams that has been bad the Astros, the Tigers, the Royals, maybe the socks, but they feel like a different level of sad.

They're going to join the party. That's a great question. Of these like teams who do you believe in the most, that's such a Chris Rose question. So Chris Rose. If I said Houston, Kansas City, Detroit, Boston, those four teams. Half cop out.

There's two that jump out. to me. Detroit, just doing the inverted move from last year, like flipping their season, that can mentally be something, getting scoble back at some point. The other one is Houston for me, just because, dude, if Yordon goes on like an MVP-level run, which he currently is, I feel like that can fuel a team. Like, if he's doing that, we all just need to participate and will be good. I tend to agree, just because they also have thrown the ball a little bit better and your guy Erigetti has been great for them. And Amai has shown a semblance of getting more comfortable in the league.

I'm going to talk about Roki a little bit later and the fact that it's taken him a little bit of time. But I agree with you. Yeah, when you have a guy anchored in your lineup like Yordaun, it's very, you know, you can win ball games because of him. You can win series because of him, as long as you get some semblance of starting pitching, this team has a chance.

I guess final notes, the Marlins, up taking two from the raise, which actually has been the trend. The raise are really scuffling. I guess what's your concern level with them? Rough spot. I think they're still a very, very good baseball team here. And they're finding, like I love what they've done with Griffin. I know his last outing wasn't good. This one ends up being five innings pitch zero runs. You got to love that. The Klanahan had not a great start for him. he'll be fine.

And then Rasmussen with a great start. So, yes, they lost two out of three, and they've trended down. But I think it's just a time of the year for them. Nothing, to me, nothing to worry about. Interesting. They're about to play Boston. Got Sandy essentially.

And Sanoid. It's got sandied and Sinoid. Those are two different, two different ways to do it. Yeah? I saw you thinking. I don't know. I'm actually going to look at what they've done lately.

Mets end up winning the series, because they got the bench, five for five. How do you like that? Simeon, Melendez and Benj, all homer. Padres drop 11 from their last 13. Whoa, that's bad.

The San Francisco Giants, they take two out of three from the Cubbies. The Cubbies also swim in the wrong direction. I said this was a big series for them, and they start off by giving up an 18 burger to the Giants. Matt Chapman's 8 RBI game, Edward Cabreras, first start off the IL. The Cubbies won a drivet. dramatic one laid the PCA game. My God, is he winning hearts and ripping people's hearts out? But then in that final game, they go to extras. Tyone gets hurt. Assad was so good. Matt Chapman

wins it in the 10th with the RBI single. The Giants get the series in the cubbies remain in a dark place. The Phillies take two out of three from the White Sox. A lot of offense in this series. How about Randall Gritchick and what he's been doing for the White Sox. But maybe the corner outfielder we should be talking about is Brandon Marsh. I believe he's leading the National League and hitting folks. How do you like that for the Phillies? They win the rubber match as Marsh homers in his third straight game. Stock gets an RBI. Philly's beat the White Sox. Ilana Braves. My God, has there been anything more consistent than them? They sweep the Pittsburgh Pirates and it's off the back of Maricio Du Bon. Homer's in three straight games.

He's never done that before. It also helps that Reisel Iglesias doesn't blow saves. Hasn't done that since last year. And they get the sweep. Michael Harris Jr. The go-ahead pinch it. Three run, double to get it done. Didier Fuentes gets his first career save.

He's nasty. Braves continue to roll. The St. Louis Carliners. Cardinals. What's dead may never die. They sweep the Reds. Uh-oh. The Angels, I said out of sight, out of mind. They played the Dodgers. Dodgers, you mentioned Rokey. You're going to talk about him later because he had maybe his best start

as a Major League baseball pitcher seven shutpiece. The Dodgers, they put up nine runs on Jack Kohanowitz in the first inning. That's bad. But the Angels, on Getaway Day, the bottom of the line. How's your Sebastian Riviero? Because he had five hits. Nick Madrigal, absolutely. Angels salvaged the set, but your best Western Road Warriors,

you know it's the Milwaukee Brewers. They headed out to Fantastic Colorado, and they gave the Rockies the business. Three games sweep, the first one in Extra, the final two they didn't need it. Mizorowski was dominant and a little dangerous. Brewers get their three-game sweep. 40th win of the year in their 60th third of the game season.

Bob. We'll start out east. Talked about them Braves. Yeah, consistent. That's a great way to describe the Atlanta Braves. Also dominant. Use that one out there. They're 45 and 21 by fall.

are the best record in all of baseball. 35 and 30 for those Philadelphia Phillies. Man, what a turnaround they've had. That's crazy. Washington still sitting at 500. 33 and 33 for them. Double Justin Moore knows. Miami, 31 and 35.

And the Mets, 29 and 36. Jolly Olive said they were going to win that division. They are not. They're 15 and a half games back on June 8. Okay. Let's move on to the Central. we all knew this would happen.

40 and 23 for Milwaukee tops in that division. The Cardinals in second place at 35 and 28, and then the Cubs kind of down bad for being honest. PCA trying to save the day, 34 and 32 for them, same record as the Pittsburgh Pirates. And then Cincinnati, as you mentioned, 31 and 33 bottom of that division.

Finally, a team under 500. Out west, the Dodgers, 42 and 24. They're kind of just rolling along. I watched like some sort of documentary on their ring ceremony from this earlier this year. A lot of fun. Miggy Rojas all over. I love that. 34 and 31 for the snakes.

The offense has not been there all year, and what will always get people hot to try on Twitter, manny comes out and says too much analytics there's too much numbers i don't even the quote actually is pretty incredible i don't even know what wcccvbb is and i'll be honest with manny i don't know either i haven't been tracking that one uh trev what do you want to do with that oh okay there there is a lot to unpack here and i feel like it's such a polarizing like uh topic like either and it's it's framed this way and I don't see it this way. It's like you either like analytics and I hate when it just gets

jumbled up until one word like that because it's just not or you hate it or love it essentially and you think it's the answer and you think it's not. But here's the thing. Analytics is just, they're just numbers. They're just stats. They're just, you know, like what are we talking about? And you're trying to improve yourself and your team by looking at the data and making decisions. That's all it is. Like it's, that word has become like the boogey man, dude. And man, Machado doesn't need to know all the numbers. That's not what it's about, dude. That's

for some other people to predict essentially, you know, what's going to happen in the future or, I don't know, like, there's so many things that will do. And as far as hitting goes, there's only so much that you need to know

about it. You still got to go out that. You control nothing. Now, like, all the data truly supports the pitchers. I've talked about that so much. Like, They control the, they have the ball and they can do things with it. And as a hitter, you're just, you're reacting. So that's where Mani's coming from. He says, I just want to see ball, hit ball.

He's essentially, you can talk up everything. You can go into, and like you sit in these meetings and you see these charts. Nothing's changed, dude. Since when I played, we had all these numbers. They were called something different, maybe not labeled as well. And there's more advanced stats. But again, like as far as like game planning, nothing's changed. at least when I go in there

and I look at what these guys are looking at right now it's all about the same so like this we shouldn't let the word analytics be the boogeyman I just don't understand why players do that and a lot of times I feel like they they'll blame that when they're not going well like if manny was raking right now and he said this people like oh it's awesome man

he's just the ball player so that's this whole thing right here is just because he's struggling analytics you're absolutely right if we want to okay the Milwaukee brewers who off to one of their best starts and they're dominant and Kyle Harrison you know is Sandy Kofax reborn now guess what helped that analytics like figuring out what pitches will work for them like how their whole system works okay you want to be mad at the Red Sox and you think Craig Breslow's a weirdo I analytics dog I mean what are we doing so you can use

use it as a weapon in either direction that, you know, we'd like to get dramatic about it when Mani does this. And you're absolutely right. The way Mani Machado having his worst start ever is worst season ever, seems like bad timing for Mani to go there. That, yeah, on the player side, you know, and we can get into swing path and the stance and all that stuff we're talking about, for whoever's in that batters box, you got to hit the ball however you can hit the ball.

So if a hitting coach tells you, well, actually, we need you to get more. more launch. If you try that and you don't make contact, well, that ain't going to work for you. So it's, yes, we'll end up having these conversations for the rest of our lives, but, you know, not just not the best presser look for Manning. It was, it wasn't great. But again, I think that's just because, yeah, he's struggling right now. Yeah, look, there's all things we can talk about.

But again, I always tell people, this is, all this stuff has been around forever. It's just, you know, there's better ways to measure. these things like swing path okay like you don't think people talk about swing path 20 years ago yeah or you know now we just it's it's easy to label and find things and again it's more of a predictive thing than anything else like yeah the brewer's going out and getting Kyle Harrison because they say okay let's look at his arm slot and what we can do we can make some changes and we think his stuff will play up because they have the data for that that's great and yeah you can tell a hitter hey man uh you're you know if we put the ball in the air to the

pull side more, you're going to have more success, or you need to be more aggressive in these counts. Like, okay, that's all been talked about for, you know, basically the entire history of baseball. Hitters truly do have to go up there and react. That's all it is. And it's funny, man. Like, I talk to guys all the time about hitting. And sometimes it'll be great. They want all the information and like, you know what? This is going to help me. I'm doing this. I'm doing that. And then they get into a game and they're like, oh, shit, I like need a. I need a spread out and choke up a little bit and just try to put the barrel on the ball

and that's it. Like it just you go and waves as a hitter man so it's Mani Machado doesn't need to know what FIPP is. He doesn't. Correct. Correct. What does he to know what that means? It has nothing to do with him at all. To know a pitcher's FIP is not going to help him hit.

So I don't know. This is it was it's like people just, it's such a polarizing word and I don't know why. all that means is information. That's this. Yes. And I do think, I think the layer of that that if Mani maybe got to write more of a thesis paper on it is that everything you just let into that I, we still have probably wandered a little too far away from situational baseball because there's a lot of analytics that like don't believe in it that I remember like I forget what hit her.

I was watching there's a runner on second. A lefty hit a ground ball to second base. The runner went to third. everyone gave him high fives in the dugout. Like that's something that I don't think analytics process for years. It just used to be basic baseball. Like get a guy to third with less than two outs. Like there's little things like that because, you know, hitting baseball on ground,

bat. That, yeah, man, you can weaponize it in any way you want to go. And I don't know. Just winning cures everything and the Padres are doing the opposite of that. Yeah, they are not hitting. And yes, their hitting coach is Stevenson. he was a junior, which I knew but forgot. And now that all this is happening and their offense has been so bad,

it's kind of a hot topic. I mean, he never was a hitting coach before, first time in the big leagues. I think he was a special assistant with the raise. And then just became the hitting coach of the podder. That's a tough job, man. Tough job. And that team, by the way, too.

That's tough to work with those guys. Like, those are superstars who, you know, like, and Sus is a very, we're talking a lot of Padres right now. but uh so he's a very confident guy but to be able to go and wrangle you know 13 guys in general's tough but tautis and machado and bogart these guys that have burn around the block and have massive contracts it's a little different it's a little different manny having his worst start ever tatis without his power swing at all like that's not putting that on stephen if i'm being honest um matt's boba shat let's go baby let's go bobbashit let's go hot i love me some boba shat

Mets currently, I mean, third worst team in the national league. We're talking about teams five games out of a wild card in the AAL. That's where the Mets sit. They got to keep it going all seven and three in their last 10. It's been a better brand for a little while now. But it needs to continue to be a better brand. And in the National League, I know you're my standings guy, coach. If their playoffs started today, your San Diego Padres would not be at the dance.

Your Pittsburgh Pirates would not be at the dance. your Chicago Cubs would not be at the dance that, you know, in the A.L. We're talking about the White Sox and the Rangers are in. It's going to be dramatic. It's going to be bloody in the NL. Your snakes would be. Adult snakes would be. Sure would be.

Who would not be two more teams, the Giants and the Cubbies, which, again, the Cubbies are just in a tailspin from hell. And, you know, it's so funny how much that final game changes how you feel. because if the Cubbies win that, be like, okay, back-to-back sets, let's put that behind us. PCA saved the day. Javier Assad saved the day.

Now they lose the series and you're kind of looking at it like, okay, so if PCA doesn't play hero ball in game two, things are worse than ever. The runners left on base is becoming a very loud thing. Yeah, I mean, the entire team, 27th in baseball, an average with runners in scoring position, Alex Bregman, being booed at home.

That's tough. him with runners in scoring position, the numbers are extremely bad. 178 average 448 OPS. And he had some quotes. He said, I've been terrible. I need to play better. Offensively, it's been awful. He goes on and on just about, hey, I need to be better.

I did see a stat that you've seen the most breaking balls of any player in the big leagues this year. So he's got to make the adjustment there. And I agree with you that the way I look at this series is, yes, like they could have been swept. If PCA doesn't come up big, like Danesby Swanson, doesn't start in either the last two games because he's been struggling offensively. Jameson Tion now on the IL. So their pitching is continues to go through things. They're starting pitching is decimated with injuries.

That is our guy, though, Javier Assad coming to rescue, which is nice. And thank God, Ben Brown's looked the way he's looked because, again, they've been crushed by injuries, but they also have not hit at all. So it's been tough, man. Like that's honest, it's a very, it's shocking to see kind of like where they're at in the season right now. Because I did have high hopes for these Cubs. Two 10 game win streaks. They've lost 20 of 27 now.

Giants, again, we can't really still talk about you because where you are in the standings. I'll tell you what, they posted that lineup and you looked at it by OPS and you're like, so what's going wrong? Like everyone's kind of contributing one through like. Like, Bryce Eldridge is happening. Yeah, yeah. I do have a complaint. Bryce Eldridge is a massive human.

I think he's listed six, seven. Pants are very tight. Oh, too tight. I just haven't seen a big guy. Normally the big guys go with the baggier pants. Bryce Eldridge looks like he's kind of wearing softball pants. And it's, in a way, it's intimidating up there. he's also kind of raking

so I should probably be talking about that but it's what stood out to me yeah I mean for the Giants nothing's really gone right for them this year I mean if you look at the only thing they're doing well offensively is their

batting average because you got a couple guys that they're doing that but 21st and runs you go to their starting pitchers 24th in ERA the relief pitchers 18th in ERA 25th and whip 24th if you go back to the starting pitchers. I mean, that's chalk all that up and that's

why you're at in the standings. That's why you're there. Jung Huli is playing out of his dome right now. That needs to be known by the people. There's some comments not happy with us. Yeah. Rob, if you can get an image of him at the plate, it's just, it's kind of jarring

because he's just a very large man. Talking about Bryce Eldridge there. Jung Hulie, how's a 28 for 58 span coach? That'll help. That'll help. The Cubs are, I've lost 20 of their last 27. It's bad.

They had an argument for the best team in baseball, and it is just fully collapsed. Yes, some big pitching injuries, but, hey, the lineup, that's part of the whole reason I kind of fell for this team, and they're not pulling their way right now. It's strictly PCA, which crazy heroes. Happer's doing it.

Happer's. doing it. Oh, and yeah, I did have Rob, this is to, I brought up the Ian Hap triple. I wanted to play it because the audio is pretty cool because you can hear the crowd when he rounds second and goes for third. And it's just a beautiful baseball moment.

It's how baseball's supposed to be. Anthony, did you know that's that's time of out for a lot? That's a fair baseball. Ian Hap plunges one into the deep recesses of the Ivy and he's stinking three. He's hoofing it there.

And say, You like that. Okay. So that's just, I'll put that into my MLB argument for doing some more outfield shifts because doubles and triples are awesome. And Ian Hap's not going to like this. Rob, if you could start with him running out of the box again, Ian Hap's running a little bit like an older man.

He's got to use everything he's got to get the engine going. And he does because he's a man. A little swingy with the arms A little swingy with the arms I see that. But it worked because he's from Pittsburgh. He's tough. He's nails. Giants went two out of three.

Phillies win two out of three. Coach Trev like, well, A, game two was hilarious. The White Sox had a wand in the dugout and they were hitting a ton of homers and it's like, what the hell are we doing here? Baseball's a weird sport. Outside of that it was a lot of Phillies and like I said, Brandon Marsh being one of the

best hitters in the National League, huge for these Philadelphia Phillies. They need it, man. And they've played so well under Mattingly. They're just right back in it. Yeah, Marsh has been huge for them. You know, they've been kind of looking for that breakout for him for, you know, a couple of years now. And he's just, he's done it, man.

See the Opel bomb right here looking really good. Phillies are, I'm happy. They're back. They went after. Who pitched for the, getting the White Sox pitchers up here? getting on Anthony K a lefty who I think is actually a pretty damn good pitcher

they get after him six earned a run from him and Sandlin my guy I know he looks so good his first game hasn't done well the last two games still believe in these white socks

though you know they took it this is this ran into a bussob on the Phillies been playing so good as a lead yeah and just more on Marsh because he I feel like every year we do like a hey Brandon Marsh playing pretty well and then you just look at the platoon splits and you'd be like, yeah,

verse right, he's, he's a really solid ball player. And he's been more than that this year, a 925 OPS. But he's Batlin versus lefties, 294, a 778 OPS, that that has been the big change. He's getting the opportunity to play at 28 years old. And he's kind of only been good. That now he's been great this year. Phillies continue to roll.

continue to roll, Trev. What do you got? I'm just looking at Marsha's stat page. And I mean, yeah, you're right. Like, he's kind of like, he looks like a, like an Ian Hapish really. Okay. Like, this guy's going to get paid. 2023, 34 war, 2024, 3-0, both those years with an OPS north of 100. So 126 and in 20203. He's going to be a free agent at 29. I believe with some good years under his belt. Like that's a guy that's going to get paid a hefty amount.

Especially if he continues to hit lefties like this. The Braves, Trev. Pittsburgh, I'm going to be honest with the Pittsburgh people, and I shouldn't be. I've said this before because I was kind of a, I wasn't all in on Pittsburgh like some people were to start this season. there's an odd amount of me that when I check in on them, I'm like, I'm worried they're going to take off

because I do see the talent now more, that I was very interested to see this Brave series. And they got braved. Mauricio Dubon, unbelievable. I feel like I talked about him a lot, and maybe I'll give him a shout out later, but three straight games with a Homer, that's not what you expect from him.

Dom Smith continues to roll. the whole Braves, man. I mean, the numbers are getting to like rare air category. They're just such a long, difficult lineup to deal with. There's just really no break in it. You know, so that with Dom Smith

doing what he's doing, you got pinch hits like a pinch hit like Michael Harris coming through. The Pirates are an interesting team. I agree with you. I do see the talent up and down, the roster love the pitching staff. Mitch Keller has been getting hit hard.

He pitched against the twins, had like a 7-0 lead, end up coughing it up. So he's in a little bad stretch here. They got to Brandon X, or Baxter Ashcraft. Again, he's on, he's been on an incredible heater,

but this is the Atlanta Braves, and it's just hard to navigate one through nine this lineup if there's no breaks in it. And I like what Pittsburgh, you know, did here with Bubba Chandler, going with the opener, because he had been struggling as well.

Mason Montgomery, hard throwing left, comes in, does his job, and then Chandler. But, yeah, in the end, it's just, it's just too much. The Braves are just, the lineup is just too long, essentially. And when you got a guy in the back end of your bullpen that's not blown games, I mean, you're just racking up wins, racking up series wins.

It's all we ever say about this thing that's true. They just win series. They've won 18 series this year, which, like, that's kind of, kind of melts your brain a little bit. But he's back and he has a big home run in his second game after coming off the IL. The Cardinals, this shouldn't matter. They have a really fun social media thing that after games, they set up a camera of their players walking into the clubhouse and they do like,

who was the player of the game and all the guys just shout out other guys. It's kind of nice. It's nothing. I like seeing it on my social media. Jordan Walker, good. That's all I'll say. I kind of like that. You know, it gets the boys pumped up.

You're rooting for your teammates. I want to show the Jimmy Crooks, man, game two. O'Brien gets into some trouble. 3-1 pitch gets called a ball. Would have walked in a run. Instead, they challenge. it, which I'm trying to tell you and Jimmy how much that freaking means, man. We have a venture back there that has the balls to challenge.

runs driven in. And again, you know, this is a guy who I think was written off by a lot of people had a couple down years here. He wondered, are you ever going to get back into form? You know, comes out initially 24 years old, 806 OPS, 809 OPS, first two years, big time war, All-Star, all this thing. And then took a couple steps back, 2024, 709, 2025, 673. But put the work in. and Jake the overall numbers this year really really good he's already got eight homers 36 runs driven in the slash line looks great 267 3403 49 for the 832 OPS plus is the highest it's ever been in this career 134 right now so he's rolling man and again we even dogged on him because that outfit he wore we did we did and maybe that's on us maybe he felt bad about

that but he's got the confidence back and he's putting together a really really nice year so I wanted to shut them out. Yeah, and just something to watch out for, and this does have a little bit of Yankees' Internet leaking in when the Orioles were struggling. Adley has a year and a half left, which is a very popular trade time. The Orioles are still very much part of this season.

I don't think it's over. It'll just be interesting if things were to go the other way. And here's how I'll end it. If Adley is back to being this version of Adley, he's a free agent after next season. J.T. Realmudo, an old J.T. Realmudo, hit free agency last year as a catcher. Three years of steady baseball. Age 35, he got three years 15 a year.

That's with a caveat to the Phillies, we're like, oh yeah, we got to do it. Right. But if Adley hits free agency the right way, catchers, that doesn't happen. So just very interested to see the next part of that story. Trev, I'm going to do a piggyback standout because I have the standout, but there was another guy that I deserve to be talked about, and it's part of this catcher conversation. Brandon Valzuela, who has been catching for the Toronto Blue Jays,

as we're talking about catcher value, so maybe this is where I can piggyback it, he's been fantastic. Alejandro Kirk goes out for the Toronto Blue Jays, and we're kind of like, okay, like that could be. That could be a backbreaker. When we do our position unit draft and we look at the war that Alejandro Kirk racks up and how valuable a catcher can be, you're like, damn, they're going to miss that guy.

They just call up the 25-year-old switch hitting catcher. And in, what is it? In 43 games, he's got 1.1 war in 822 OPS. Also, I don't know if there's anything here. he is from Mexico that maybe him and Kirkie maybe they got like a good thing here maybe there's a big brother little brother

although how old is Alejandro Kirk Kirk is 27 Valenzuela is 25 so I don't maybe not the biggest of brothers Kirk's locked up again I don't I don't know what's next I know Toronto's still looking for guys but if if they were trying to make a big trade

a cost controlled switch hit and catcher that would be very intriguing to teams. So I want, why are you shaking your head? You're just all over the place. Do the Yankees need a catcher or something? Oh my God, do the Yankees need a catcher. Yeah, we're pretty.

Mind is spinning everywhere. We're pretty locked in on catchers around the league right now. Hadley, Velasuela, Jeffers, get your hammate bone right. Let's go. Yeah. So hey, shout out to the young, the young catcher for the Blue Jays, doing more than holding his own. My actual stand out is going to send out.

To Christopher walking for a little bit. was Dominic Canzon for the Seattle Mariners because not only did he piss on a ball in Detroit, which, you know, you can talk about it better than me, Treve. It's a little bit of an intimidating ballpark that if you're going to go Big Fly, Trev, this is 451, pal. That's like reserve for big dogs. Miguel Cabrera goes up there.

And lefty kind of, I mean, I'll consider that. Apo-ish. Apo-ish, right, to that part of center field. And Trev, very interesting for Dominic Canzon. You know, when we look at these baseball references or different guys' profiles, if you do last year and this year, Dominic Canzon has played in 139 games, so let's consider it mostly a full season. 290, 351, and 847 OPS.

Like, there's a lot of teams that would kill to have a corner outfield. they're doing that for them right now. So as we're eyeing the Seattle Mariners, the rest of the way is supposed to be one of the powers in the American League. How is Dominic Canzon a part of that recipe instead of just being like a, oh, Italian last name. Might be a dog.

Might be a dog. And I believe I saw Cal Raleigh on his rehab assignment, so he could be inching his way back. The Mariners are in a good spot. I did want to mention about the Blue Jets catchers. last year, if you remember correctly, Heinemann all of a sudden was a 400 hitter early on in the season.

So, you know, they've somehow found a way to get their kind of quote unquote backup guys to be contributors, man. But you're right. I think Valenzuela might be a little bit more than that. Best job in baseball, the Blue Jays backup catcher. It's been in the past couple years. And then just the final, because we're all baseball losers

that listen to this. Dominic Canzon. acquired by the Mariners from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Oh, this is the Royals for some reason. Tying it all together. Kanzone, Ryan Bliss and Josh Rojas, who we talked about earlier, for Paul Seawalt.

He had had just one homer over his first 58 games Jake and now three in his last five so he's getting hot Brent Rooker, Philly we haven't mentioned him a lot this year we haven't touched a lot of A's I think we need to maybe He went four for 11, two homers three runs driven in. He's got 10 homers this season. Four of them against the Astros.

For the week, and this is the list you want to be on. We used to do two weeks. Now we're just doing a week. Okay. PCA, our guy. I mean, just talk about like controversial analytics and PCA, baby. Okay. And we try to keep off the iPads, whatever. So, yeah, they're very, very excited about, yeah, no homework. Yes. Then I heard the high school that I went to has adopted a no homework policy. What? What's up with that? Yes.

I mean, that was not the case when I was there. And you know what? The more I think about it, though, like homework should be quick. I don't like the three hours of homework thing. These schools need to relax. Like, isn't that your job to teach our kids? Don't send them home with a bunch of homework. Do it while they're in school.

Whatever. That's not really the point of this award. The point of this award is my guy, Roki Sasaki. Now, if you remember Jake, when he did get posted and was basically interviewing teams, like, who wants me, he gave them a homework assignment. His velocity, his last year in Japan had started to go down. And so when he went to teams to meet with them, that was what he asked. Like, that's, that, what would you do to fix me? like what like what changes would you make how would you get my Velo back was essentially the point of all these meetings he's going around talking all these different organizations and wants to know like how do I get my

velocity back because it went down and he ends up obviously signing with the Dodgers and apparently they had the right answer during that that quiz but it didn't show up right away man last year if you go back Fastball averaged 96 miles an hour. He's throwing the forkball a lot last year. That's at 84.5 miles per hour. And he did not have success last year. He just didn't. Now, in the end, they found some usage in the bullpen,

obviously on their way to another World Series victory. So kind of salvage the season, if you will, if you will. And then goes through an offseason. We're wondering, like, what's his role going to be? They have so many starters. Is it going to be a bullpen guy? What's happening? Well, this year, it finally looks like they found the answer to that homework assignment.

The Velo's ticked up, man, and he's been better because of it. Last couple starts been really, really good. He's also made some other adjustments as well. I mentioned Velo now over a mile and a Howard different on the year, but ticking up as well, like hit 100 miles an hour in his last start. He's also got rid of the fork. He's still on the splitter now. which that is averaging 90 miles an hour on the year.

So basically he said it wasn't one mechanical adjustment. It's just been like kind of like a rotation here, a movement here, and all these things have added up where he finally feels like his mechanics are in play. Velo's ticked up. The new splitter and the elevated Vlo on that has made it difficult for hitters to pick up out of his hand. The fork, boy, you can kind of see a little bit more because it just came out different. and slower. And now because the Vilos are closer together, it's just worked out for him. So whatever it is, again, not one thing, but he's cleaned himself up mechanically. And he's been

freaking nasty like the Dodgers needed. But I thought it was really cool because I actually forgot that that's what he did when he got posted over here. What would you do to fix me? What an interesting way to come to the States and sell yourself to teams, be like, no, actually, I'm interviewing you, which is like classic stepbrothers take, but he's ticked up and I don't know if the Dodgers need it, but they got it. So Roki gets the schools out for the summer, no homework award.

Man, Rob, on our YouTube just playing that Wade Meckler strikeout, he throws him with an inside fastball. Because the reason I'm starting there is because that splitter thing he's thrown is untow. touchable. Like that's a pitch you can know is common and you're not getting there. And with the added VLO and with that new grip and yeah, a dominant start, seven innings 10Ks.

But even if his last four now, 24.1 innings of 148, like he's 24 years old. You know? Like there's your team's pitching prospect that you like might be 24 years old and they haven't gotten to the dance yet. He's got dude potential. This is the whole thing with him. And they have him for five more years. Cost controlled, brother.

Yeah, I'm interested to see the next steps with him. He's been working through a lot since he's come over here between, you know, pitching minor league games, and then he's in the bullpen, and he saves their season, and now he's back in the rotation that after a really slow start to the year, he's been good. And yeah, the Velo thing, that was, you know, as part of the rate, he was so hyped. When was that the last WBC, 2023 maybe is when it started leaving the station. That, yeah, when he was coming over, is like, oh, the Vilo is down.

And what, what do you do? Well, if it's not down, watch out. Yeah, there's a great article on the athletic where I kind of got the idea for this by Fabian Nardiah. And there's a good quote by Dave Roberts. and he basically says, let me get it up for you, you don't want to mess it up. I think we're all guilty of expecting it to be seamless,

certainly unfair to Rokey, not appreciating that there has to be some transition period. He went through some tough times and some doubts, but he's gotten to the other side, essentially saying, yeah, like a couple guys have come over and just been immediately successful, but it's such a crazy transition

to come over from Japan over to the States with all the hoopla, coming to the Dodgers, expecting to be like this guy in Shohay's, shadow. I like that. That's a little perspective there that Dave Roberts gave out. With, again, Yamamoto

Are you a first baseman playing some right? field. These guys can actually play pretty much any position. I think if they needed corner outfield, they have in their past lives. These guys play where they're needed as we're hitting the point in the season where every team is having their injuries rack up. No, it's a nice feeling. Oh, shoot. We need Clement at short today. Duran, you're going over to second base so we can have this guy play over here.
